Negative Effects Of The French Revolution
The French Revolution was in the mid eighteenth century in France. The French Revolution occurred
because of many political, social, and economical problems in France. The people of France were
majorly affected by the French Revolution, and although the French Revolution took place in France it
had an affect on regions other than France. Throughout the French Revolution there were many
negative and positive aspects but overall it negatively affected France in the long run and is still
affecting them today. The French Revolution impacted France in many negative and positive ways
because of the political, social, and economical problems such as a monarchy being established,
feudalism being abolished; the third estate being divided and unfair; and how peasants suffered
significantly because of high taxes and scarce food. The creation of a monarchy led to the French
Revolution because rarely anyone believed that a monarchy should be created. The monarchy went
against everything that most of the people believed. Feudalism was abolished because of the creation
of the monarchy. (Doc 4) The social problems led to the French Revolution because of how unfair the
social class was. The third estate consisted of 97 percent of the population and they had no power but
had to pay all the taxes for France. (Doc 2) This was important because it shows how bad the upper
class was to the lower class. The upper class took control and didn t let the peasants have a say in
anything. This lead to

He is a hardworking, tough but emotionally drained and withdrawn kind of person. Sometimes he
would try to fake a smile and act numb to put on a facade to everyone. His struggle to find a family
and a home for a normal childhood may have caused him to have a quiet and mild mannered
demeanour which represents repressive anger and anxieties.
General Home Atmosphere
a. As a Family Member: He is trustworthy, hardworking and always puts the needs of others first
before her own. He never had a home to call his own so much that he never felt the love and care from
a family.
b. The Father: They have a very loving and caring relationship to the point that they re dependent and
reliant to each other. It took a long time for the father to recover and cope up with the mother s
departure and had taken the dual role of a mother and father to the children. This dark and unfortunate
moment in their lives made them realize that all they have is each other.
c. The Mother: The case client, Mr. Valdez briefly stated that he never knew his mother and had felt
intense pain and anger for a while because of never having a maternal figure in his life. Time and the

The P5 + 1 Agreement With Iran

19 September 2015
An Atrocity of a Deal: The P5+1 Agreement with Iran The P5+1 Agreement, an agreement struck
between Iran, China, Russia, France, United Kingdom, United States, Germany, and the European
Union. But, why, and what does this deal place on Iran, that can limit their nuclear abilities, as
displayed in the past. The deal brings forth rather easy sanctions relief for Iran, limits uranium
enrichment to a certain extent where Iran can still produce nuclear weaponry, and reduces the enriched
uranium stockpile that can be sold for more natural uranium which can be used to produce more
enriched uranium with its ability to still develop advanced centrifuges. The issues lies within the broad
and quite loosely held terms of this agreement. Knowing the terms of this agreement, the expected
result of these provisions, this deal will actually shorten the time to an Iranian nuclear bomb and allow
Iran to produce more nuclear bombs than it currently can construct using enriched uranium and
plutonium fuel stated Fred Fleitz from Fox News. The agreement puts the citizens of many countries
at high risk, and the evidence of this is incontrovertible, as Iran has access to things that were
previously denied of access. The question to ask is, should the senate support this agreement?
Sanction relief is the last thing Iran needs if the United States and the rest of the countries are going to
limit the proliferation of

HL Get lost to find yourself! Picture this. You are standing alone at the foot of a lake, surrounded by
snow capped mountains on all sides. Cool breeze brisks your face and all you can hear is a soft whistle
of a bluebird. You stare at the nothingness around you and yet feel the overwhelming joy of being in
that moment. It is an experience beyond words, one that you cannot feel amidst the crowd in your
mundane life. Nor can you experience this while sipping on a Mai Tai and sunbathing on the finest

Opportunity to see life from a different perspective We tend to associate with people who are like us in

our understanding of life. Travel gives you a chance to see places and cultures that you could have
never imagined existed, let a fellow traveler pour his heart out to you even if you can barely
understand his language, relish meals that you don t know names of and in the overall scheme of

Analysis Of Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
Growing up in a world where fake news and irrational arguments can be considered a daily
occurrence, one could read Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell with a skeptical eye. Readers may try to
pick out details that have been used as gimmicks to hook readers into buying it. However, once
readers move past these thoughts, they can find that the ideology that Gladwell uses to describe what
makes a person successful to be reasonable and worthwhile. He states in his introduction, They had to
appreciate the idea that the values of the world we inhabit and the people we surround ourselves with
have a profound effect on who we are, (Gladwell, 10 11). This analogy makes perfect sense if you
have the mindset that success isn t something that always relies on hard work, but the resources and
opportunities that are given to someone willing to change their life for the better. Therefore, after
analyzing this book, it is clear to readers that Gladwell is saying that success is something that is
caused by many uncontrollable factors that we nowadays brush off as luck and grit.
One such factor that is constantly pointed out in Gladwell s book is what home lives these successful
people were subjected to as children.
An example of one of these persons is Chris Langan, he grew up in a home that was constantly in
poverty and had no good role models in his family to look up to and learn from. Nevertheless, he had
a very high IQ that would make others consider him to be a genius. Compared to him in Gladwell s
book is Robert Oppenheimer, who had a similar IQ to Chris but was raised in a better household
where he learned many social skills, to the point where could talk himself out of almost poisoning his
tutor. This difference in childhood s is the deciding factor for one to become successful and the other
to be considered a nobody, as Gladwell writes about his analysis of Chris life, he pulls research from a
social experiment conducted by Annette Lareau. As a sociologist, she decided to research how the
parenting styles in twelve different families of varying social classes could affect the children they
raised. During the tests, she notes, The heavily scheduled middle class child is exposed to a constantly
shifting set of

FUNKY SUNGLASSES the accessory that s always been practical and fashionable
The earliest historical reference to sunglasses dates back to ancient China and Rome. The Roman
emperor Nero watched gladiator fights through polished gems. In China, sunglasses were used in the
12th century or possibly earlier. These sunglasses were made out of lenses that were flat panes of
smoky quartz. They offered no corrective powers nor did they protect from harmful UV rays, but did
protect the eyes from glare.
In prehistoric and historic time, members of various Eskimoan peoples wore flattened walrus ivory
glasses, looking through narrow slits to block harmful reflected rays of the sun.
Modern civilization began experimenting with tinted lenses in spectacles around 1752. There was
belief that blue or green tinted glass could potentially correct specific vision impairments. Protection
from the sun s rays was not a concern at this time. Glasses tinted with yellow amber and brown were
also a commonly prescribed item for people with syphilis in the 19th and early 20th century because
one of the symptoms of the disease was sensitivity to light.
In the early 1900s sunglasses became more widespread, especially among movie stars. Famous
actresses used shades to avoid recognition by fans and paparazzi, but also because they often had red
eyes from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sunglasses a New fad for wear on city streets...a favorite affectation of thousands of women all over

An Analysis Of Everyday Ambassador, By Kate Otto
First and foremost, the novel Everyday Ambassador, by Kate Otto, opens the eyes of many, and makes
people realise that there are four simple values they can add into their everyday lives to make a
difference. By adding these values into your life you could make a difference for not only yourself but
for your neighbors, community, and maybe even the world. An everyday ambassador has to have
focus, empathy, humility, and patience. By realizing you want to make a change you are already on the
journey to becoming an everyday ambassador.
First, one value that you should take a look into adding into your life is focus. Focus is when you have
your interest and attention on one certain object or task. By allowing focus into your everyday habits
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Third, another value needed to be on the path to be an everyday ambassador is humility. Humility is
knowing we are important and equal to everybody else around us no matter what age, skin color, or
religion they have. We should not have to wake up everyday and get likes on social media to feel
important. We shouldn t compare our lives to others and put people down because they are different
than us. Having humility allows you to realize that it is okay to not be an expert at everything and
know that sometimes you can t contribute as much as others. But knowing that, allows you to find
aspects of your life where you can help and make a difference. You should be putting yourself into
situations where you can help change the world even if it is one small step at a time. By doing this you
can become an everyday ambassador.
Lastly, the fourth and final value you need to have to become an everyday ambassador is patience.
Patience is the ability to overcome annoyance when confronted with some kind of delay of results.
This has become a very distinct problem with people as we have every answer we could ever want at
our fingertips. By having patience in your life and letting yourself know that results could take a while
puts you on the path to becoming an everyday ambassador. You need to know, especially if you want
to help change people s lives or change the world, that seeing results could take a very long time.
However, if you do have the patience

Taking a Closer Look at a CPU
Although many people are computer nerds; many people do not know what a CPU is; or what it does.
A computer has many parts that make up the hardware, and the software; enabling it to function
correctly. One of the main components that a computer needs to work is a Central Processing Unit
also known as the microprocessor. The central processing unit includes all the computers main parts,
and is the basic part of the computer. The CPU is responsible for executing out tasks, and running the
software. The software runs on programs that are translated into number codes made up of 1s and 0s
that the central processing unit can understand. Each code that is executed means a certain operation
should take place. A CPU serves for four functions; Fetch, Decode, Execute, and write back these
functions are the four primary ones. Other functions that follow are the Arithmetic and logic unit, as
well as the Memory access.
In the first step of dealing with a CPU the fetch function is up first. The fetch function involves
retrieving information that it needs to run from the program memory, and basically giving it
instructions which is put in by a number of a whole line of them from the memory. Wherever the
memory may be is determined by the (PC) which is also known as the program counter. The PC stores
a number that can keep track of the current place in the program. When the instruction is fetched the
Program Counter is then inputted by the length of the instruction in word terms of the

Mozart and Haydn Essay
Two of history s greatest figures in the development of Classical style music during the eighteenth
century were Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Haydn. Both men worked together and were
very close friends while living in Vienna. Between the two, Joseph Hayden and Amadeus Mozart
devoted much of their music for composing symphonies, minuets, librettos, sonatas, concertos,
masses, oratorios and operas. While both men achieved popularity and status during their time, they
also discovered that success must be earned rather than freely given. While both men enjoyed similar
success during their lives, their character and personal lives contrast one another as one developed a
haughty spirit and died penniless after enjoying a life of fame ... Show more content on

Like Mozart, Haydn s talent was also recognized at a young age. According to Schneider, Haydn s
cousin who served as a schoolmaster quickly recognized his musical ability and offered to take him to
school to further develop his musical skills. After years of hardship and challenges that were thrown at
him in life, Haydn s persistence paid off when, according to Schneider, his musical talent became
noticed and he was offered the position of Music Director for Count Morzin. This eventually led to
being offered and accepting employment with Prince Paul Anton Esterhazy where he became the Vice
Kapellmeister and later Kapellmeister. The Esterhazys, were a family of extremely wealthy Hungarian
princes that Haydn would serve for the next thirty five years. While serving this noble family, Haydn
composed eleven operas, sixty symphonies, five masses, thirty sonatas, one concerto, and hundreds of
shorter pieces. He later enjoyed more success and praise for what is now known as his London
symphonies.
Despite his celebrity status, Mozart s life was filled with suffering. Although he had great musical
ability, Mozart s strange dependence on his father and early fame may have led to his immaturity with
others and with his personal finances. At a young age, Mozart s fame quickly spread as he was
lavishly celebrated by all. Being fully conscious of his musical talent, an arrogant demeanor
developed with many that he worked for and with. This celebrity status and

People have written short stories for hundreds of years; however it was not until the 19th century that
they really became popular. Short stories were the ideal form for writers who wanted to earn some
immediate money and reach a wide audience. As more people were given the chance of receiving
basic education, literacy rates improved and more were able to enjoy reading. As the technology
improved printing became cheaper meaning that more people could afford to buy and read cheap

It shows how the relationship between an oppressive husband and his submissive wife pushes her
from depression into insanity. At first she does not like the room and its horrid wallpaper but soon she
becomes intrigued by its patterns and what lurks behind them.
The third story The Adventure of the Speckled Band is a typical murder mystery story. Sherlock
Holmes is presented with a baffling set of circumstances from which he deduces the facts and reveals
the villain. All three stories are common in that they are written in the first person singular. This has
the effect of engaging the reader and making him feel part of the unfolding tale.
Conan Doyle uses this technique in writing The Speckled Band . His story revolves around the
character of the detective, Sherlock Holmes, however it is told as seen through the eyes of his
companion, Dr
Watson, providing a good example of writing in the first person.
The Signalman is told in first person narrative; which makes the story extremely personal, meaning
that the reader becomes more involved in the story and it feels like it is actually happening at the same
time as you read it.
Charles Dickens also uses dialogue to reveal the account of the haunting and I believe he does this to
make it even more personal still. The Yellow Wallpaper is written almost in a diary form. Reading it
you feel as if you are in the woman s head as she makes notes in her journal. All three are

Irish Spoken English Language
The conflict between the English and the Irish has had many negative effects on Irish culture and
traditions. The Irish language in particular has suffered dramatically from the presence of the English
on the island. When the English gained control of Ireland, they forced their language upon the people
there, and by the end of the nineteenth century, the Irish Gaelic language was almost extinct. Since
then the language has made somewhat of a comeback. Today there are many Gaeltacht, or Irish
speaking, areas where the most common spoken language is Irish. The language is also taught in
schools both in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Irish is the national and first official

Worldview s Ability To Work In Global Health
The worldview an individual holds is weighted and manipulated by the experiences, morals/values,
customs, and aspects individuals develop during life. Through these factors and more, a person s
worldview differentiates from another. This then creates principles, questions, views, and cultures that
are/can be shared by communities and society as a whole. In a simpler context of words, a person s
worldview is the way they see the world, and how this perspective shapes the way a person lives.
When transferring these fundamental aspects to my own life, I am then able to expand the effect in

Descartes s Cogito Ergo Sum
During Meditations 2, Descartes establishes a version of his famous cogito ergo sum . He establishes
that despite the fact that we may not know the world around us as well as we think we do, we can
know the mind better and the trusting the mind can lead him to the seemingly justified conclusion that
he exists. Descartes method of arriving at the conclusion is by starting from scratch and considering
whether there could be any ground of doubt for his beliefs. He was a rational philosopher who gave
reason the utmost importance and led him to realise that many of his current beliefs were in fact based
on uncertainty and thus false conclusions. Therefore, in order to avoid this problem and find secure
knowledge of on what he can be certain of, he uses the method of doubting everything that he finds
reason to doubt and consequently, being justified in rejecting the whole. He will: withhold my assent
from matters which are not entirely certain and indubitable than from those which appear to me
manifestly to be false (Descartes 1641: 6) Firstly, Descartes deals with the issue of empiricism the
theory that our knowledge is derived from our sensory experiences. Since we know from everyday
errors that our senses have the ability to deceive us fairly often so making our perceptions to be
something that it is not. For example, there are lots of examples of optical illusions and the fact that
the train tracks may appear to converge from a distance. Consequently, we ought to

Heroism In 1984
When someone says protagonist, what does one usually think of? Generally, the words good guy and
hero come to mind first, but are those words used correctly? Is the protagonist really a hero? In
George Orwell s 1984 and Philip k. Dick s Minority Report, two different protagonists who commit
hero like acts are shown. These acts on outside seem like they are benefiting the greater good, when in
reality they help almost no one. The side effects of their actions are avoided to make the protagonists
seem more worthy and stronger in the readers eyes, but it does nutmeat that they do not still exist. At a
glance, 1984 is a dystopian about a man named Winston, the protagonist, who lives in a country called
Oceania. It follows him through his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1984 the antagonist is known by the name O Brien and in The Minority Report his name is Kaplan.
The first instance where Winston s actions intervene with O Brien s life is when he unknowingly gives
O Brien more power through the crimes he commits. Winston commits all sorts of thoughtcrime
throughout the book but it is not until the last part where he realizes that O Brien, someone who he
thought was going to help take Big Brother down, works for The Party. In part three O Brien says,
And there are disease, pain, death O Brien silenced him by a movement of the hand. (Orwell 277).
This quote tells readers the extent of O Brien s power, specifically over Winston. It shows how his
hidden figure type persona has evolved into someone who is not afraid to show who he really is and is
willing to evict pain on to other people. All this is due to Winston rebellious acts against Big Brother.
All throughout the story. he breaks many of Big Brother s rules, reason why O Brien catches Winston
in the first place and has all the power he does right now. In chapter nine Kaplan says, This is a great
occasion for the Army... You ll be glad to hear I m going to give the public a full account of the
spurious change brought against you (Dick ???). After Anderton tries to flee so he is not sent to the joy
camps, Kaplan is able to persuade the government that the whole precrime system and the majority
minority report aspect is a false way of determining if someone is guilty. He wants the army to be
back in control, specifically his team of sergeants that retired a while back. Anderton trying to run
away from the fate that the system writes for him is the reason why Kaplan gains so much power in
the first place. The protagonists actions affect the antagonists, in the better. In addition to affecting the

probable cause of the accident was the pilots failure to use available reverse thrust in a timely manner
to safely slow or stop the airplane after landing, which resulted in a runway overrun. This failure
occurred because the pilots first experience and lack of familiarity with the airplane s autobrake
system distracted them from using reverse thrust during the challenging landing (FAA, 2005).

presented with stopping margins associated with the input winds or had known that the stopping
margins calculated by the OPC for the 737 700 already assumed credit for the use of thrust reversers,

Estuaries Essay
Importance of Estuaries
Estuaries are very productive systems that have a large ecological and economic value. These unique
habitats that estuaries provide are utilised by many biota as well as humans. The importance can be
linked to its utilisation. Numerous organisms use estuaries as natural nurseries and complex
communities are present. Estuaries are are a valuable resource for the fishing industry and provide
spaces for recreational activities. Estuarine habitats such as wetlands provide water filtration and
carbon storage. Floodplains and daughters are utilised by the agricultural industry as they provide
fertile soil.
Many fishes and other organisms use estuaries as nurseries since they provide shelter, food and are
relatively safe from predators. Estuaries have unique habitats which have many niches. Many species
are specialised to live in these niches and result in diversification. This is also the case for birds and
other groups of animals and results in rich complex communities. Estuaries are a vital part of many

nature and protect the environment from antiquated farming practice. It would be the height of folly,
however, not to mention some drawbacks of organic agriculture and advantages of intensive farming.
For one thing, organic farming, while conventional farming is manufacturing bigger yields, cannot
produce enough food to assuage the world s appetite. For another thing, it would be rather difficult for
the impoverished and underprivileged to afford high priced products from natural farming, which,
consequently, can in part limit their interests of utilizing fresh food. Meanwhile, intensive agriculture,
with curtailed prices, can meet the requirements of more people. In conclusion, there is no denying

Frequently Asked Questions About Orthodontics
Do you still have some questions about how orthodontic treatment works? Let s answer some common
concerns our patients usually express.
How long does it take to get my teeth straightened?
The amount of time required for treatment is directly dependent upon your specific situation and the
method of treatment used. While traditional braces may take two or three years, Invisalign can be
completed in about 12 to 18 months. Fastbraces works even faster, often offering results in about 6 to
12 months.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost?
Again, the answer to this question largely depends on your situation and what type of treatment is
required. Typically, the longer your treatment, the most costly it becomes. However, many insurance
plans cover the cost of braces. We also offer great financing options that should make it easy to make
sure you are taken care of.
Are braces painful?
All of our braces options are safe and produce only mild levels of discomfort. None of our orthodontic
options are painful. When you have your wires adjusted for traditional braces, you may feel a bit of
discomfort lasting up to about a week due to the pressure of tightened wires. With Fastbraces or
Invisalign, even that discomfort is reduced.

Technical Limitations Of The Zeitgeist
Zeitgeist Zeitgeist is a German word that was first used in 1848. The literal translation thereof is the
spirit of the time. The Zeitgeist is the essence of an era, and is more than simply slapping a few neon
colours onto a design and saying that it captures the Zeitgeist of the 1980s. Zeitgeist consists of the
emotions, attitudes and morals that are at the heart of every person in a time period. It is the main
thought processes and beliefs that create and direct the actions and styles of an era. Zeitgeist can be
represented in the literature, philosophy and the designs of that time. Zeitgeist can be crucial to
designers as it can allow them to connect directly with the emotions and values of their customers if
they completely understand the Zeitgeist of the modern era. This understanding also gives designers
the opportunity to step away from the Zeitgeist and leave a big impression on the consumer market.
Zeitgeist is the product of the circumstances and technical limitations of an era, as these can
drastically influence the general outlook of the people within a time period. For example, as explained
by the Merriam Webster online dictionary, the Zeitgeist of Victorian England was the belief in pure
industrial progress, while the Zeitgeist of 1980s United States was the belief in money and one s
ability to spend it. Alexander McQueen was a fashion designer born in London in 1960. Once he

The War on Gun Control Essay
Gun Control War We are no stranger to gun control debate and controversy here in the U.S. We hear of
gun deaths, mass and school shootings on the news on a daily basis. Is it safe to say that the U.S.
needs permanent gun control laws to protect its citizens or would it be in violation the constitution?
The second amendment was written by our founding fathers back in 1791 in a day where it was
common for any citizen to own a weapon. Many times we tend to misinterpret our rights as well as we
do with gun control laws. As George Washington once said A free people ought not only to be armed,

This made it easier to control the distribution of guns in the U.S. For many U.S. citizens Gun Control
laws and regulations is a violation to their inalienable rights. It has been fought in court various times

anyone to carry a gun without a license. They brought in different people to testify and state their

unconstitutional. If you think to yourself would you want a person walking around in the streets with a
gun at all? Would a person walking around with a gun on the street with the proper license make a
difference? It only takes one person to ask this question and raise others. This has been happening
recently over the years here in the U.S. dealing with it court cases and debates over this topic. In the
case of the Trayvon Martin Shooting a young man of the age of 17 was shot and killed by George

Francis Bacons Scientifically Revolutionary Utopia Essay
Francis Bacon s Scientifically Revolutionary Utopia
The New Atlantis is a seventeenth century depiction of a utopia by Francis Bacon. In this novel,
Francis Bacon continues on More s utopian ideas. Unlike More, however, Bacon relied on societal
change via advancements in science and ones own awareness of his environment rather than through
religious reforms or social legislation. The seventeenth century marks a period in history where drastic
social change occurred. This change, however, was not as much political or technological but
religious. During this time, the introduction of ideas and theories, starting with the renown Galileo and
Isaac Newton, spread a wave of enlightenment across Europe as people ... Show more content on

With Galileo s telescope, however, he discovered that the church had mistakenly chosen the earth to
be the center of the universe rather than the sun. Although this may seem like an insignificant error, it
opened people s eyes and made them aware of the fact that the church could be questioned. Prior to
this time period, many facts of life were preached by the church and accepted by the people without
question. Galileo s discovery, however, proved to the people that the church could be questioned,
thereby sparking the curiosity of the people and the beginning of a scientific revolution, which would
last throughout the next century.
With the turn of the century and the beginning of the scientific revolution, discoveries made by
Galileo and Newton lead to a new and more curious generation of people. With societies newly found
desire to gain knowledge and awareness of their environment and surroundings, even utopian thinkers
such as Francis Bacon began to theorize that advancements in science and developing a better
understanding of the world was the crucial step in arriving at the nirvana they dream of. A world
where people apply their knowledge of nature, politics, health, and beauty to improve their lives and
essentially become happier people.

Legion of Cyber Crime
Black hat, grey hay, white hat, all terms to identify different classes or cyber criminals, all tied
together under the label of hacker. Whether it is for the greater good or for pure evil, cyber security
seems to be breached every day as the media puts out headlines of major retailers, governments, and
social media sites being broken into for personal information, mockery, or even to instigate real
physical war. The recent surge of technological advances has brought attention to a deadly force once
overlooked by all, the hackers. These individuals commit cyber crimes because they can retain
anonymity, it is easier and less dangerous than a physical crime, and it makes it easy to draw attention
on whatever it is they are attacking, which is why we as a society need to be educated on their motives
and means of attack to protect us from their criminal actions. Criminals seem to be evolving at a
quicker rate than technology, learning lessons from past criminals being caught and/or killed and
adapting to the changing smart society.
Millennials always hear from their parents to be wary of what they post online because it stays there
forever, but the hackers of today laugh at that and are virtually invisible in any crimes they choose to
commit. They are able to keep their anonymity through data encryption, computer zombification, and
deep web browsers. Data encryption is one basic tool used by

How Democratic The European Union
T he following paper will address the question of how democratic the European Union is by analysing
each of its institutions and the decision procedures in the European context. It will take into account
the special role of the European Union as a system of polycentric governance (Garner, 2009: 230), and
the complex relationships between its institutions and the institutions of its member countries. Hereby
taking into account that the EU can be characterized as a system of network governance in which the
state is vertically and horizontally segmented and its role has changed from authoritative allocation
from above to the role of an activator (Crum and Fussom, 2009: 257). The EU with its high degree of
complexity remains unique in the world of governance and shouldn t be compared to nation states.
Following a multilevel approach that recognises this uniqueness the question whether the scepticism
towards the EU s institutions and the voices that see a democratic deficit inherent in the EU are right
shall be answered.
When analysing the system of the EU on grounds of its democratic legitimacy it is important to define
democracy itself. Democracy is a value laden term that has various meanings and comes in different
shapes (e.g. representative vs. direct democracy). As none of the member states in the EU practices
direct democracy to a mentionable extent it would not be suitable to assess the EU on terms of direct
democratic participation. A reasonable

Essay about The Shawl
Many times in stories, authors will use the setting to set the stage for the story. The setting is like the
foundation of the story, and without one the story seems merely lost. Quite often the setting will build
up the story and affect the characters, and the characters behaviors. Against the backdrop of a
Holocaust concentration camp, Ozick produces two static characters whose lack of development
throughout the story emphasizes the theme of overwhelming hopelessness. In The Shawl Rosa, her
infant daughter Magda, and her fourteen year old companion Stella are Jews interned in a
concentration camp during World War II. Amazingly the infant Magda has survived with her mother,

They see how peaceful Magda is with the shawl, and it is killing both of them inside. During the
whole story, these thoughts and emotions are going through both Rosa and Stella s mind. Later in the
story, Stella steals the shawl away from Magda. Magda now starts to behave peculiar like the two
women before. She is no longer silent and mute, she now walks on her own and is crying. However,
later Rosa steals the shawl back from Stella for herself. She could fly, she was only air into the arena.
The sunheat murmured of another life, of butterflies in the summer . As you can see this shawl was
powerful to them, and with it they seemed in their own imaginary world. These thoughts and feelings
are not ones from a healthy human being. It was this time of tribulation and hard times that made these
girls so attached to such a simple item. These characters had nothing, they were in a concentration
camp, and the shawl was the only thing they could rely on, so they made this shawl their dream. If this
story would have had a different, or more peaceful setting, then these characters may have been able
to establish more character traits. However due to the concentration camp background, these
characters had absolutely nothing, but a shawl. Therefore, the setting was a crucial part of this story.
The setting also affected the characters behaviors and thoughts. There is not a time in

Why the Reconstruction Stopped After the Civil War Essay
Reconstruction has been brutally murdered! For a little over a decade after the Civil War, the
victorious North launched a campaign of social, economic, and political recovery in the former
Confederacy and to readmit the land in the former Confederacy back into the United States as states.
Reconstruction yielded many benefits for African Americans. The 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments
freed African Americans, made them citizens, and gave them the right to vote respectively. The
Freedmen s Bureau also provided African Americans and poor whites with education, jobs, and
supplies. Despite this, Reconstruction was cut short in 1877. The North killed Reconstruction because
of racism, negligence, and distractions. One reason the North killed ... Show more content on

Obviously, this was a foolhardy move by the North. The amnesty of Southerners gave racist
Southerners another chance to dominate the South with racism and hate. The North also had failed to
stop black codes. These laws restricted African Americans rights such as congregating, bearing arms,
working for other African Americans, and coming within town limits (Black Codes). Finally, the
North was oblivious to the antics of the Ku Klux Klan, a white nationalist hate group. After the
murder of John W. Stephens, Albion Tourgee claimed that he had very little doubt that I (sic) shall be
one of the next victims (Tourgee, 1870). If Albion Tourgee had so little doubt that he would be a
victim of the Ku Klux Klan, then it was probably not safe for Republicans, scalawags, and
carpetbaggers in the South during Reconstruction. The North was responsible for providing safety in
the South for Republicans, carpetbaggers, scalawags, and African Americans. This would have proved
that the North was negligent. Therefore, if the North had not been negligent, the African Americans,
scalawags, and carpetbaggers would have been safe during and after Reconstruction even if the South
had intentions to harm them. During the course of Reconstruction, the North was distracted and
needed to shift their focus from Reconstruction to other affairs. The Panic of 1873 created an
atmosphere where people began to oppose Reconstruction (Danzer, 1998). The Grant

Immune To Reality Daniel Gilbert Analysis
Humans are complex beings. We have different motivations, goals, and aspirations, but what
influences us to having these goals and what motivates us to strive for them. Daniel Gilbert, in his

Different forces and change shape and change the Jim Hawkins in Robert Louis Stevenson s classic

All three of forces that caused Jim to change happened frequently throughout the novel. Death

Interpretation
Threat of Entrants are High and unfavorable in the industry. This is a real threat in a place like
Pakistan where the food industry views constantly changing patterns in demand. Due to its consumer
base, that is always on the look out for new and changed places to eat. Every now and then, a new café

the emerging technology that is called NoSQL and compared it with one of the traditional relational

which clearly displays how relationships need to be modeled in a more efficient and sophisticated
manner than using conventional relational models. In this paper, we will make a comparison between

He never had a home to call his own so much that he never felt the love and care from a family. b. The Father: They have a very loving and caring relationship to the point that they re dependent and reliant to each other. The P5 + 1 Agreement With Iran Jonathan Conlin Dr. Currie American National Government 19 September 2015 An Atrocity of a Deal: The P5+1 Agreement with Iran The P5+1 Agreement, an agreement struck between Iran, China, Russia, France, United Kingdom, United States, Germany, and the European Union. But, why, and what does this deal place on Iran, that can limit their nuclear abilities, as displayed in the past. The deal brings forth rather easy sanctions relief for Iran, limits uranium enrichment to a certain extent where Iran can still produce nuclear weaponry, and reduces the enriched uranium stockpile that can be sold for more natural uranium which can be used to produce more enriched uranium with its ability to still develop advanced centrifuges. The issues lies within the broad and quite loosely held terms of this agreement. Knowing the terms of this agreement, the expected result of these provisions, this deal will actually shorten the time to an Iranian nuclear bomb and allow Iran to produce more nuclear bombs than it currently can construct using enriched uranium and plutonium fuel stated Fred Fleitz from Fox News. The agreement puts the citizens of many countries at high risk, and the evidence of this is incontrovertible, as Iran has access to things that were previously denied of access. The question to ask is, should the senate support this agreement? Sanction relief is the last thing Iran needs if the United States and the rest of the countries are going to limit the proliferation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Analysis Of Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell Growing up in a world where fake news and irrational arguments can be considered a daily occurrence, one could read Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell with a skeptical eye. Readers may try to pick out details that have been used as gimmicks to hook readers into buying it. However, once readers move past these thoughts, they can find that the ideology that Gladwell uses to describe what makes a person successful to be reasonable and worthwhile. He states in his introduction, They had to appreciate the idea that the values of the world we inhabit and the people we surround ourselves with have a profound effect on who we are, (Gladwell, 10 11). This analogy makes perfect sense if you have the mindset that success isn t something that always relies on hard work, but the resources and opportunities that are given to someone willing to change their life for the better. Therefore, after analyzing this book, it is clear to readers that Gladwell is saying that success is something that is caused by many uncontrollable factors that we nowadays brush off as luck and grit. One such factor that is constantly pointed out in Gladwell s book is what home lives these successful people were subjected to as children. An example of one of these persons is Chris Langan, he grew up in a home that was constantly in poverty and had no good role models in his family to look up to and learn from. Nevertheless, he had a very high IQ that would make others consider him to be a genius. Compared to him in Gladwell s book is Robert Oppenheimer, who had a similar IQ to Chris but was raised in a better household where he learned many social skills, to the point where could talk himself out of almost poisoning his tutor. This difference in childhood s is the deciding factor for one to become successful and the other to be considered a nobody, as Gladwell writes about his analysis of Chris life, he pulls research from a social experiment conducted by Annette Lareau. As a sociologist, she decided to research how the parenting styles in twelve different families of varying social classes could affect the children they raised. During the tests, she notes, The heavily scheduled middle class child is exposed to a constantly shifting set of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Roman emperor Nero watched gladiator fights through polished gems. In China, sunglasses were used in the 12th century or possibly earlier. These sunglasses were made out of lenses that were flat panes of smoky quartz. They offered no corrective powers nor did they protect from harmful UV rays, but did protect the eyes from glare. In prehistoric and historic time, members of various Eskimoan peoples wore flattened walrus ivory glasses, looking through narrow slits to block harmful reflected rays of the sun. Modern civilization began experimenting with tinted lenses in spectacles around 1752. There was belief that blue or green tinted glass could potentially correct specific vision impairments. Protection from the sun s rays was not a concern at this time. Glasses tinted with yellow amber and brown were also a commonly prescribed item for people with syphilis in the 19th and early 20th century because one of the symptoms of the disease was sensitivity to light. How much does orthodontic treatment cost? Again, the answer to this question largely depends on your situation and what type of treatment is required. Typically, the longer your treatment, the most costly it becomes. However, many insurance plans cover the cost of braces. We also offer great financing options that should make it easy to make sure you are taken care of. Are braces painful? All of our braces options are safe and produce only mild levels of discomfort. None of our orthodontic options are painful. When you have your wires adjusted for traditional braces, you may feel a bit of discomfort lasting up to about a week due to the pressure of tightened wires. With Fastbraces or Invisalign, even that discomfort is reduced. If you have any additional questions or concerns about your orthodontic care, please contact our office. You can reach us by phone ... • 25. Technical Limitations Of The Zeitgeist Zeitgeist Zeitgeist is a German word that was first used in 1848. The literal translation thereof is the spirit of the time. The Zeitgeist is the essence of an era, and is more than simply slapping a few neon colours onto a design and saying that it captures the Zeitgeist of the 1980s. Zeitgeist consists of the emotions, attitudes and morals that are at the heart of every person in a time period. It is the main thought processes and beliefs that create and direct the actions and styles of an era. Zeitgeist can be represented in the literature, philosophy and the designs of that time. Zeitgeist can be crucial to designers as it can allow them to connect directly with the emotions and values of their customers if they completely understand the Zeitgeist of the modern era. This understanding also gives designers the opportunity to step away from the Zeitgeist and leave a big impression on the consumer market. Zeitgeist is the product of the circumstances and technical limitations of an era, as these can drastically influence the general outlook of the people within a time period. For example, as explained by the Merriam Webster online dictionary, the Zeitgeist of Victorian England was the belief in pure industrial progress, while the Zeitgeist of 1980s United States was the belief in money and one s ability to spend it. Is it safe to say that the U.S. needs permanent gun control laws to protect its citizens or would it be in violation the constitution? The second amendment was written by our founding fathers back in 1791 in a day where it was common for any citizen to own a weapon. Many times we tend to misinterpret our rights as well as we do with gun control laws. As George Washington once said A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined . It only takes one person to ask this question and raise others. This has been happening recently over the years here in the U.S. dealing with it court cases and debates over this topic. In this novel, Francis Bacon continues on More s utopian ideas. Unlike More, however, Bacon relied on societal change via advancements in science and ones own awareness of his environment rather than through religious reforms or social legislation. The seventeenth century marks a period in history where drastic social change occurred. This change, however, was not as much political or technological but religious. Although this may seem like an insignificant error, it opened people s eyes and made them aware of the fact that the church could be questioned. Galileo s discovery, however, proved to the people that the church could be questioned, thereby sparking the curiosity of the people and the beginning of a scientific revolution, which would last throughout the next century. With the turn of the century and the beginning of the scientific revolution, discoveries made by Galileo and Newton lead to a new and more curious generation of people. Whether it is for the greater good or for pure evil, cyber security seems to be breached every day as the media puts out headlines of major retailers, governments, and social media sites being broken into for personal information, mockery, or even to instigate real physical war. The recent surge of technological advances has brought attention to a deadly force once overlooked by all, the hackers. These individuals commit cyber crimes because they can retain anonymity, it is easier and less dangerous than a physical crime, and it makes it easy to draw attention on whatever it is they are attacking, which is why we as a society need to be educated on their motives and means of attack to protect us from their criminal actions. Criminals seem to be evolving at a quicker rate than technology, learning lessons from past criminals being caught and/or killed and adapting to the changing smart society. Millennials always hear from their parents to be wary of what they post online because it stays there forever, but the hackers of today laugh at that and are virtually invisible in any crimes they choose to commit. • 29. How Democratic The European Union T he following paper will address the question of how democratic the European Union is by analysing each of its institutions and the decision procedures in the European context. It will take into account the special role of the European Union as a system of polycentric governance (Garner, 2009: 230), and the complex relationships between its institutions and the institutions of its member countries. Hereby taking into account that the EU can be characterized as a system of network governance in which the state is vertically and horizontally segmented and its role has changed from authoritative allocation from above to the role of an activator (Crum and Fussom, 2009: 257). The EU with its high degree of complexity remains unique in the world of governance and shouldn t be compared to nation states. Following a multilevel approach that recognises this uniqueness the question whether the scepticism towards the EU s institutions and the voices that see a democratic deficit inherent in the EU are right shall be answered. When analysing the system of the EU on grounds of its democratic legitimacy it is important to define democracy itself. Democracy is a value laden term that has various meanings and comes in different shapes (e.g. representative vs. direct democracy). As none of the member states in the EU practices direct democracy to a mentionable extent it would not be suitable to assess the EU on terms of direct democratic participation. A reasonable ... For a little over a decade after the Civil War, the victorious North launched a campaign of social, economic, and political recovery in the former Confederacy and to readmit the land in the former Confederacy back into the United States as states. Reconstruction yielded many benefits for African Americans. The 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments freed African Americans, made them citizens, and gave them the right to vote respectively. Obviously, this was a foolhardy move by the North. The amnesty of Southerners gave racist Southerners another chance to dominate the South with racism and hate. The North also had failed to stop black codes. These laws restricted African Americans rights such as congregating, bearing arms, working for other African Americans, and coming within town limits (Black Codes). Finally, the North was oblivious to the antics of the Ku Klux Klan, a white nationalist hate group. After the murder of John W. Stephens, Albion Tourgee claimed that he had very little doubt that I (sic) shall be one of the next victims (Tourgee, 1870). If Albion Tourgee had so little doubt that he would be a victim of the Ku Klux Klan, then it was probably not safe for Republicans, scalawags, and carpetbaggers in the South during Reconstruction. The North was responsible for providing safety in the South for Republicans, carpetbaggers, scalawags, and African Americans. This would have proved that the North was negligent. Therefore, if the North had not been negligent, the African Americans, scalawags, and carpetbaggers would have been safe during and after Reconstruction even if the South had intentions to harm them. The Panic of 1873 created an atmosphere where people began to oppose Reconstruction (Danzer, 1998). The Grant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
