The major attractions for tourists are the Sydney Aquarium and the Chinese Garden. According to the
video the total number of visitors in darling harbor last year was 27.9 million out of which 3.8 million
visitors is on transit and the remaining 24.6 million are from interstate or overseas.
The location of the Radicor hotel attracts both business travelers as well as tourists. Considering the
number of visitors it is comprehensible that competition between hotels, cafes and restaurant would be
very high. Hotels have to go beyond excellence to attract customers as in such a location with so
varied visitors it is a challenge to meet the expectations of everyone and maintaining the customer
service level.
The Radicor Hotel takes pride in providing quality and excellence to its guests and stakeholders.
Marcus Vesty the world renowned chef runs the Abbey restaurant located on the ground floor of the
Radicor Hotel and is considered the leading restaurant in Sydney providing a fusion of flavors from
east and west. Marcus leases the restaurant from the Radicor Hotel on a profit share basis.
There are a number of issues that the Radicor Hotel is facing and to top that up John s shocking
feedback about The Abbey is now really a knock on the door for them. To make things worse the
parent company Simcom Group is certain about selling off one of the Radicor chain Hotels as a result
of global financial crisis and Radicor

Chapter 30 Of Inkheart Cultural Analysis
I believe the world and all that s in it is one big family, and we need to help each other. This quote
says that no matter who you are, you have a family that can help you and that you need to help others.
Chapter 29 of Inkheart by Cornelia Funke supports this theory, because while Meggie and Mo were
talking they thought about Dustfinger. They were wondering if he was ok. This shows that they really
do care about Dustfinger after he betrayed them. This shows us that everyone makes mistakes, and
everyone is forgiven and someone to help them in hard times. I believe the world and all that s in it is
one big family, and we need to help each other. Chapter 30 of Inkheart by Cornelia Funke supports
this theory, because when Basta grabbed Pippo

Dumbest Generation Thesis
Synthesis Essay The younger generation of Americans, those under the age of thirty, are often
criticized as being the dumbest generation . Many Americans blame technology for making goods so
plentiful, schooling so accessible, diversion so easy, and liberties so copious (Bauerlein). Many are
posing the question: Is the increasing ease in life causing our intelligence to slip? Those under thirty
are not the dumbest generation, in fact, technology is expanding, changing, and pushing in new
directions intelligence and mental capacity. Technology has allowed young Americans to transform
the way they think and learn. According to a 2008 study by Mizuko Ito, the internet has allowed the
flourishing of self directed learning. The enormous possibilities the internet offers, allows people to
delve into topics or research a variety of areas that interest them. People can now explore their
curiosity endlessly. Researches have also noticed a change in literacy among the younger generation.

Computer and video games, for example, challenge mental dexterity. The complexity of the
environments and worlds the players must navigate, encourage the growth of their problem solving
skills (Johnson). The older generation often scrutinizes the younger Americans on not being to answer
general knowledge questions. However, this is not the result of dumbness but of choice. Young
Americans are able to think critically and logically, analyze an argument, to learn and remember, to
see analogies, to distinguish fact from opinion. (Begley). Knowing the capital of Denmark, and other
such facts, is not important to this generation, and therefore, they are evolving the way intelligence is

than regular common apparels, where premium fashion products are higher priced and luxury fashion
products are the most expensive. There are many popular luxury and premium fashion companies,
which have been marketing and retailing fashion products for a very long time. Hugo Boss is one of
those companies that caters to both the premium markets and luxury markets and the brand has

Arc Of Justice Analysis
Arc of Justice is a story of the hardships of segregation fueled by ignorance in the 1920 s. The
beginning introduces the reader into the setting of Detroit reaching its industrial peak. It then
chronicles Ossian Sweet, an African American physician. Him and his wife, Gladys, purchased a
house in a white neighborhood in hopes of a better future and a successful family. Instead, they
quickly received many threats and felt unsteady, the neighbors rejected all African American s in their
society. Raised in the South, Ossian Sweet had seen what prejudice can do to a society. Although he
attempted to escape from it, he finds himself staring racism right in the face. For a book published 80
years after the fact, Kevin Boyle does a very impressive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During that time Johnson was the general secretary of the NAACP, and knew what impact the case
would have on civil rights. Given this the NAACP aided those accused of the murder of Breiner, and a
first rate defense team was in the making. Assistant secretary Walter White was the main assistant of
NAACP to find the best attorneys (who were not prejudiced, of course). He later meets Arthur
Garfield Hays and Clarence Darrow and urges them to take the case. After agreeing they meet their
clients about a month after the accident. Boyle shows how both James Weldon Johnson and Clarence
Darrow had interior motives for defending the Sweets. Both men had a love for the spotlight, when
speaking about Darrow, Boyle writes in the glare of a high profile case he found the perfect
opportunity to attack the status quo and proclaim the modernist creed. The trial itself felt more of a
civil rights case than a criminal case. The most impressive thing in regards to the actual trial was the
performance done by Darrow. One could draw many similarities between him and To Kill A
Mockingbird s Atticus Finch. A common misconception of the courtroom is that the jury goes strictly
off of evidence when deliberating. This book clears up that false belief with the attorneys playing off
of emotion and targeting pathos. A strong argument presented by Darrow can be summarized by a few
statements he made in that courtroom. You are facing a problem of two races, a problem that will take
centuries to solve. If I felt none of you were prejudiced, I d have no fear. I want you to be as
unprejudiced as you can be. Draw upon your imagination and think how you would feel if you fired at

Essay on Exploiting Music Publishing Copyrights
Music Publishing Essay Over the past fifty years, the British Music Publishing industry has undergone
dramatic changes. It has evolved as an entity with innovations in technology, changes and creations of
laws and new mediums to promote and exploit songs to a wider audience. Therefore, the way in which
the music publishing industry operates and exploits its assets has completely transformed, and
continues to do so at a rapid pace. This paper will attempt to explore the ways in which publishers
exploit song copyrights and the way in which this has changed over the past 60 years. It is important
to define what is meant by copyright and its role within the industry. The Performing Right Society
website states: Copyright ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is vital for a publishing company to register with all relevant collection societies, who would obtain
royalties in the territory they operate in. In the United Kingdom, a music publisher will typically
assign its rights to the Performing Right Society, who would collect all the public performance
royalties on the publisher s behalf. This is lucrative for publishers, as any space that is open to the
public wanting to use music must acquire a public performance license.
The ways in which intellectual property has been exploited through public performance over the past
50 years have significantly changed. During the 1960s, the BBC monopolized the radio industry with
national and regional programs, until the emergence of offshore pirate radio. This caused the BBC to
rename its stations and reintroduce local radio in order to counter the success of the illegal stations.
1973 introduced commercial radio, which saw a large increase of stations and shows available. This
had a big impact on music publishing companies, as they could access a much wider audience through
the larger range of outlets to exploit their songs, and subsequently receive performance royalties.
Radio expansion has increased throughout the years with the introduction of DAB radio, and internet
radio stations.
Furthermore, the expansion of television

Until which, he came across a man named Dennis Fritz. Dennis Fritz was a miserable man without
much hope, and with these circumstances he befriended Williamson. Both of their antics led to them
spending nights in jail for reckless endangerment or drunk driving, nothing ever too serious though.
That was until the case Debbie Carter, a local in the town, had been raped and killed. Five years later,
they decided upon arrested both Williamson and Fritz to what appeared to be a false testimony. This
never seemed to be enough though for the townspeople of Ada. For them, a raping and killing was
more than just jail time. They wanted the truth about the murder of Debbie Carter. This led to
Williamson and Fritz being tried for her case, in which unfortunate results came back. Fritz was now
imprisoned for life and Williamson was to be executed. The story is more aimed towards Ron
Williamson, and his life while in prison. At some points it was sheer luck that Ron was released. One
point in the story Ron Williamson is about to be executed in three days after waiting on Death Row.
That was until Williamson received a stay , allowing him to avoid execution. It was not until 12 years

Women In Marji s Persepolis
Persepolis, a graphic novel enriched by the autobiographical narrative of Marjane Satrapi, covers her
coming of age in the politically unstable Iran in the 1980s. Specifically, the novel concerns defining
events in Marji s character development and in accordance, her ideological perspectives; the Iranian
Revolution followed by the rise to power of the fundamentalist Khomeini (1979), the Iraqi Iranian
War (1980), and personally, her uncle Anoosh s death. Moreover, Marji s contrasting perceptions of
her dynamic and arbitrary world as both as a child and an adolescent are strongly translated into her
portrayal of different social groups: women, fundamentalists, intellectuals (such as Marji s parents),
and others. In particular, there is a strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, Marji s mother is presented to the audience as a revolutionary as she participated in political
protests and her photo was published in all the European newsletters (Satrapi 15). Although Marji
describes her mother s actions in a proud register, her mother is scared of her individuality as women
are encouraged to follow specific norms, and in consequence, result looking and acting similarly. This
idea, in analysis, can be interpreted as an influence to Marji s developing identity and her interaction
with the world. Satrapi deploys visual rhetoric to convey meaning from her black and white images of
the women population, most significantly, when wearing the veil. For example, Marji illustrates the
veiled women in black to have similar properties as they are covered and only their faces are apparent,
in contrast to the protesting women in white that have different hair lengths suggesting different
identities (Satrapi 5). It can be analyzed that Satrapi s use of graphic weight in contrast between the
black veil and the white revolutionaries not only conveys Marji s internal conflict, but also
demonstrates her mother s influence in Marji s opinion on women; the fundamentalist woman versus
the modern woman (Satrapi

anorexia nervosa received the second lowest number of case studies with only 15. So, medical
professionals have limited amount of successful results to reference when treating other people with

People who receive cognitive behavorial therapy can receive it in group or individual therapy and

Newton And Seurat Research Paper
The world that we live in is constantly innovating new ideas and methods to benefit the lives of many.
It is a fascinating opportunity to reflect on all the inventions that have been made throughout each of
our lifetimes. Two very important individuals that shaped the world we live in today is Sir Isaac
Newton and Georges Pierre Seurat.
Sir Isaac Newton was an English mathematician and physicist. There is a theory that Newton
discovered gravity when he saw a falling apple. Supposedly, when he was observing the apple he was
also thinking about the forces of nature. Newton realized that some force must be acting on falling
objects like apples because otherwise they would not start moving from rest. Newton also realized that

For instance, when you stand on something soft, the object caves in or is pushed down. This is the
reaction of one s force on the soft object, and the soft object s reaction to one standing on it.Seurat
painted the La Grande Jatte in three distinct stages. In the first stage, which was started in 1884, Seurat
mixed his paints from several individual pigments and was still using dull earth pigments such as
ochre or burnt sienna. In the second stage, during 1885 and 1886, Seurat dispensed with the earth
pigments and also limited the number of individual pigments in his paints. This change in Seurat s
palette was due to his application of the advanced color theories of his time. His intention was to paint
small dots or strokes of pure color that would then mix on the retina of the beholder to achieve the
desired color impression instead of the usual practice of mixing individual pigments.Seurat s palette
consisted of the usual pigments of his time such as cobalt blue, emerald green and vermilion.
Additionally, Seurat used then new pigment zinc yellow (zinc chromate), predominantly for yellow
highlights in the sunlit grass in the middle of the painting but also in mixtures with orange and blue
pigments. In the century and

Women s Role In Frankenstein By Mary Shelley
Mary Shelley views women s roles and values in society with a comprehensive perspective, entailing
both positive and negative aspects. She exposes the patriarchal society that is oppressive to women in
a subtle but powerful manner. This paper will discuss her opinions on women in her current society
and their relevance in today s world.
The first woman we are introduced to in the novel is Caroline Beaufort. She lives with her father, and
after the loss of his wealth through ailments, Caroline is forced to resort to plain work of plaiting
straw. She lives in abject poverty, and this will later influence her compassionate nature for the poor.
She is saved from poverty by getting married to Frankenstein s father. This seems to portray that ...

She is praising her fellow woman for being passive. Mary Poovey argues that Shelley spent her life
balancing between an urge to write which requires self assertion and an urge to assimilate to the
societal expectations of feminine passivity. (Poovey). She even wrote the book Frankenstein, but it
had to be published under the anonymity of the author. Another point on women s submissiveness is
brought out by Justine the servant who despite having committed no crime is sentenced to death and
accepts her demise without defiance. She says I must be condemned, although I would pledge my
salvation on my innocence despite the injustice she faces. The same reality exists today wherein
women are expected to play a passive role and support their husbands blindly. Furthermore, society
tends to shun strong women who can voice their opinions and fight

Tsar Nicholas s The Great War
Introduction Tsar Nicholas II s reign was turbulent, seeing wars, revolutions, and a general sense of
displeasure from the people and the government. Intellectuals were no longer content with living
under an autocracy and believed that the Russian government was archaic and inefficient. Peasants
spoke out against their poor living and working conditions. By 1917, Nicholas reign was over and the
Romanov family was no longer in power. One of the leading causes of the Romanov downfall was
Nicholas himself. Although the situation in which he inherited the throne were not ideal, his character
and method of dealing with state affairs did not help. His personality affected his leadership style,
making his leadership style an unpopular one. Even his most trusted advisors and friends came second
to Nicholas desire to uphold autocracy in Russia. The influence of Pyotr Stolypin and Sergei Witte,
two of Nicholas senior officials, faded as Nicholas thought they hindered his supreme autocracy.
Nicholas character was also evident in the Great War. His many stubborn decisions, despite being
constantly advised against them, caused Russia much grief during and after the war. Nicholas wife
Alexandra influenced many of these decisions and other decisions on state affairs. Nicholas
personality allowed Alexandra to have a large impact on his reign. This further gave Grigori Rasputin
a large political presence in Russia as well. Nicholas s personality was one of the factors that

The Tatars also known as the Mongols invaded Russia and forced the Russian princes to send tribute
to the Tartar state or the Empire of the Golden Horde. During this time there were attempted invasions

prince and a warrior from Novgorod. A century later the Tatars went southwest and the northeastern
cities of Russia gained significance. One city was Moscow. Moscow had gained enough power to
challenge the Tatars and in 1380 a Muscovite prince attacked. The Muscovite prince succeeded but the

Perfect Idealism In Shakespeare s Hamlet

times the decision to act is usually influenced not only by coherent considerations, like the need for
inevitability but also by psychological, ethical as well as emotional factors. For instance, Hamlet is

Asian Stereotypes in the Media
Introduction By definition, Media Literacy is defined as the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and
create media. The power of the media should not be underestimated. Millions of teens and adults
spend hours watching television and surfing the web on a daily basis. With the use of media literacy,
these individuals that utilize hours of their daily lives can be protected from pressures of media

teaching majority of our communities about media literacy, we can free them from the standardized
pressures of society itself. These free beings will no longer feel the needs to live up to the expectations

The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari
The German film, The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, is an expressionistic film directed by Robert Weine and
written by Hans Janowitz and Carl Mayer. The film is seen as a masterpiece of German Expressionism
in the 1920 s. The film industry during this period was emerging and becoming an accepted form of
art in Germany after the First World War. The film exploded on the art world not only in Germany but
made its way to France. France lifted the ban on German cinemas due to its popularity. It eventually
spread to the United States. This film is seen as one the great horror stories of all times.

Caligari tells the story of Francis, who, through flashbacks, recounts his terrifying experiences at a
carnival in a small German village, where he first encountered Dr. Caligari, a man with the power to
control people in their sleep. When Francis s friend is mysteriously murdered and his fiancée is
kidnapped, he pursues Dr. Caligari to an insane asylum, determined to unravel the mystery
surrounding these terrible events. Dr Caligari symbolizes the German government. The revolutionary
meaning of the story reveals itself unmistakably at the end, with the disclosure of the psychiatrist, as
Caligari: reason overpowers unreasonable power, insane authority is symbolically abolished (Kracauer

When The Worlds Collide
All ancient civilisations have contributed in some way to the development of modern society. with
these words of Dr Joyce Tyldesley I believe the main thought of documentary When the Worlds
Collide written by Carl Byker and Ruben Martinez can be worded.
The film presents the moment of the discovery of America by Spaniards and the following years,
focusing mainly on the cultural aspects that underwent changes in that time. It shows the way various
elements from both civilizations merged and intertwined to work as one new entity. The documentary
also illustrates the clash of the New World and the Old World with the effects on both sides, the most
prominent one being the creation of a new culture the Mestizo culture, which is the mix ... Show more

When the Romans took over Greece, they also took over the Greek culture and, to a small degree,
language in the process of Hellenisation . The Roman religion was created by copying the religion of
the Greeks, with the exception of the names of the gods and goddesses and some other details. Other
than that, the Romans also adopted the Greek architectural and literary style. As of other countries that
were conquered by Rome, the Romans also took the way of building ships and the alphabet in an
altered form from Phoenicia. In all of the countries that the Romans conquered they would build roads
for their armies to move quickly. Roman roads were so tough and well built that many of them have
lasted in good condition even until now; the famous oldest road Via Appia that leads from Rome to
Naples is still in use . Moreover, the Romans built numerous cities, among which are Vienna , London
and Paris . Had Rome not conquered so many countries, the modern world would have looked entirely
different. Rome had an enormous input in shaping of the European culture. Because Rome invaded

Theme Of Innocence In The House On Mango Street
The House on Mango Street uses three vignettes to state that innocence shelters children from the
extreme truth of the adult world. To begin, in The First Job , an older man unexpectedly forces himself
on Esperanza: I thought I would because he was so old and just as I was about to put my lips on his
cheek, he grabs my face with both hands and kisses me hard on the mouth and doesn t let go (Cisneros
55). Esperanza s innocence allowed her to kiss an old man on the cheek for his birthday because she
could not imagine anything inappropriate occurring. However, the man grabs [her] face with both
hands and doesn t let go . This violent action shatters the innocence that has hidden Esperanza from
the adult truth. Next, Esperanza witnesses how Tito and the boys treat Sally in The Monkey Garden :
One of Tito s friends said you can t get the keys back unless you kiss us and Sally pretended to be mad
at first but she said yes (Cisneros 96). The adult game played angers Esperanza as the boys use Sally
to their advantage and Sally [pretends] to be mad but still willingly complies. Esperanza, unlike Sally,
sees the situation as wrong because of her innocence, but when she attempts to save Sally, the boys
laugh at her. Embarrassed, Esperanza is exposed to an adult type of game and now feels confused
from this break in her innocence. Finally, Esperanza completely loses her innocence after being
sexually assaulted at the carnival: You re a liar. They all lied. All the books and

Strasberg Method Acting
Are you wondering what method acting is all about? Below are the basics of this acting method
developed by Lee Strasberg and practiced at the Actors Studio by actors like Marlon Brando and
Geraldine Page.
1) Relaxation
An important goal of this acting method is to get rid of the muscular tensions that keeps the actor s
instrument from being free. Lee Strasberg believed that actors who can relax their muscles reach a
higher state of concentration and responsiveness.
2) Sense Memory and Concentration
The actor develops concentration through sense memory exercises. As the name suggests, sense
memory is the use of the actor s senses to recall objects and experiences. A beginning method actor
will first explore a real object, like a cup of coffee, through all five senses, then put the object down
and try to recall the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Exploring a place with all five senses.
Exploring a personal object with sentimental value.
Re creating the experience of being in private ( the private moment exercise , a great one to deal with
stagefright).
Eventually, an advanced actor will combine several sense memory exercises at once. Not only do
sense memory exercises help method actors believe in the given circumstances of the scene they re
working on, but they give them great focus and concentration.
3) Emotional Memory
Method actors learn to use sense memory to recall emotional experiences from their past. Instead of
trying to remember or force an emotion, the actor tries to re create with his senses the circumstances
surrounding the experience. For example, he would use sense memory to re create where he was at the
time, what he smelled, the sounds he heard, etc. With practice, an accomplished method actor can
trigger the right emotion for his character within seconds by simply recalling a single smell or sound.

Factors Affecting Share Price
Factors Affecting Share Prices
What are the major factors that affect share prices in the stock market? This is one of the most
frequently asked questions by stock market participants. There are varied internal and external factors
affecting the price of a share. Internal factors are those that depend on the firm such as share bonuses,
stock split, company dividends, etc. External factors are those which are beyond the control of the
firm, such as raw material prices, economic trends, inflation, investor confidence, etc.
Following is the list of various factors that can influence the price of a stock: * The performance of the
industry or sector that the company is in. The stocks of companies operating within the same industry

There are many factors affecting share prices. It is very hard to say just one or two factors affect the
share prices. So, let us have a look at the factors that affect share prices.
Demand and Supply
This is the first factor that affects share prices. When you get to see that more people are buying
stocks, then there is an increase in the price of that particular stock. On the other hand price of stock
falls when more people are selling their stocks. So it is very difficult to predict the Indian stock
market. This is the main reason why you need to get in touch with a good stock market consultant.
There is consultancy for you which can help you a lot on choosing the right stocks for you.
Market cap
It is a very big mistake when you try to guess a company s worth from the price of a stock. You should
know that the more important is the market capitalization of the particular company. This helps to
determine the worth of a company. So market cap serves as an important use to determine share
prices.
Earning per share
Now when it comes to the term, earning per share , it means the profit that a particular company has
made per share and that too on the last quarter. If you need to know the health of the company then
this is the most important factor. What s more earning per share also influences the buying tendency in
the market that results in the increase of the particular stock price. This is the reason

St. Clare Of Assisi Research Paper
Goodmorning Mr Capell and class, I am Cooper Webster and today I will be talking about St Clare of
Assisi. I will be speaking about this remarkable person because she impacted the church deeply and
help the poor and marginalised.
St Clare of Assisi was born July 16, 1194 in Assisi which is in Italy. She was born into a family with
another sister named Saint Agnes of Assisi. She was very wealthy child as her parents, Favorino Scifi
and Ortolana were very fortunate. During this wealthy life she saw St Francis preaching when she was
18, he was preaching at a Lenten service in the church of San Giorgio in Assisi. After this event she
asked St Francis to help her live in the manner of the gospel. Her parents were not happy with this
because she was meant to be married into a line of family. St Clare of Assisi left her home to go out
and change the lives of a group of less fortunate people and help them be noticed and helped more.
She refused all offers from her parents and would not stay with them, she cut her hair, traded her
expensive gown for a plain one and a vail. After this St Clare left and started a group called The Poor
Ladies of San damiano , this group went out to help a group of young homeless people and give them
support. St Clare died on the 11th of august, 1253 when she was aged 59. She was canonised as a saint

Eu Law Of The European Union
EU LAW
(i) The actions that might be brought by Rochelle and Neil in the national courts
With regard to the actions that might be brought by Rochelle and Neil in the national courts when it
comes to the matter of complaints about the law of the European Union s (henceforth, the EU s)
application, it has generally been recognised that if an individual is recognised as being a national of a
Member State, lives in a Member State, or if they run a business in the EU then the law of the Union
provides parties like Rochelle and Neil with a number of rights. However, if individuals like Rochelle
and/or Neil feel that their rights under the law of the EU in the form of a Directive and a Regulation in
this instance respectively have not been respected by a Member State like the UK s national
authorities then it is first necessary to bring the matter before those authorities for the purpose of
resolution before having to resort to the European Court of Justice (henceforth, the ECJ) for this
purpose. This is because it has generally been recognised that this will typically be both the most
effective and efficient means to bring about the resolution of any matters of concern raised by parties
like Rochelle and/or Neil when it comes to the interpretation and application of the law of the EU.
Such an understanding of the position in this regard is evidenced by the fact that the law of the EU in
the form of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union 2008 (henceforth, the

First, I wanted to mention some of the longevity secrets that were mentioned in the area of Sardinia.
They believe in eating a plant based diet consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables, and they believe that
drinking goat s milk can fight against heart disease and cognitive disorders such as Alzheimers. They
take daily walks and enjoying with family and friends and of course the daily glass of red wine are just
a few other secrets. They value family connections here in Sardinia; most families live together, from
the parents, children and the grandchildren (Buettner, 2008).
In Okinawa, they enjoy being active and being outdoors in the sunshine, gardening and enjoying the
company of their moai (circle of friends). Having a good attitude and what they like to call the ikigai ,
which is what they say, gives them a purpose in life and what helps them get up every day. They also
believe in eating a plant based diet, the consume a lot of tofu and rarely eat fish. What I found very
interesting that they eat more sweet potatoes, and they consume the spice, turmeric, which has been
linked to healthier hearts (Buettner, 2008.)
Loma Linda residents also believe in eating more plant based diets, eating in moderation, eating an
early dinner, drinking plenty of water, exercising to maintain a healthy weight, and as we have seen in
Sardinia and Okinawa, spending quality time with family and friends.

What Is The Importance Of Memory In Our Lives
The Importance of Memory in Our Lives Memory is a process that involves retention, retrieval, and
using the information that is taken in by the senses and stored. Memory can be compared to a time
machine that allows you to go back into any moment in time. Memory can also be used by students to
remember material for exams, their daily schedule, names, phone numbers, and directions to places.
There are other things that students are not aware we use memory for such things are having
conversations because memory is needed to track how the conversation is flowing as well as finding a
class because it is necessary to remember the spatial layout of campus. Studying Memory Richard
Atkinson and Richard Shiffrin (1968) proposed a model called the modal model of memory and was
sort of a compilation of many features of models that were being proposed at that time. The model has
structural features which are three stages. The first state is sensory memory which is where all
information that is being taken in is held for a couple of seconds. The second stage is the short term
memory which can hold 5 to 7 items for 15 to 30 seconds. The last stage is long term memory can
hold a large amount of information that can be stored for years or decades. This memory system is
described as a control process because it is active and is controlled by the individual and differs from
person to person. Control process includes rehearsal which is the repetition of a stimulus in order to

How Natural Law Enforces Human Rights
Natural Law enforces human rights. When we look at abortions laws we see between a legal system
based on the legal theory of natural law the law that comes from God s nature and inherent right and
wrong as He defines it furthermore a legal system based on legal positivism (law is derived from
whatever man says is law no inherent right and wrong). Prior to the turn of the 20th century, legal
philosophy from whence laws were derived in the Western world was based upon a natural law theory.
A belief that there was an inherent right and wrong based on God s principles. In the late 1800 s early
1900 s the legal philosophy began to shift and is now predominantly based upon legal positivism
which says that law is only right or wrong because man has made it so. Natural law is based on the
character of God; thus, like Him, it does not change as man changes.
The importance of how natural law enforces human rights
Natural Law shapes conduct, forces specific conduct, and is designed by God to influence moral
behavior. Natural law imposes morality which enforces the protection of human rights. Natural law
gives a person the free will to do whatever they please as long as that free will does not harm others or
violates the Natural laws created by God. Nonetheless, God is the source of Natural Law with an
expression of moral order through the word of God. Society and government were not central
conceptions in the life of a people governed by God through his prophets,

Descriptive Essay On Pizza
Half spinach. Half anchovies. Sitting on the countertops of Dominos at my dad s work, I pondered
how many combinations of halves people could make with pizzas. Lining the walls, there were
containers filled with an array of different toppings ranging from pineapples to pepperonis. While my
dad kneaded the dough, I listened to him tell me that pizza can be made it however you want, which
incentivized me think of all the possible combinations of pizza mushrooms and sausage, bell peppers
and onions, or maybe even jalapenos and ham. Back then, I use to think my dad had the best job in the
world, until at school, I was handed free cardboard pizza lunch while other kids parents packed them
homemade, hot lunches in thermoses. As my eyes darted between my lunch and my friends , I
compared their packed juice boxes and sliced fruit to my flimsy tray and pizza. I was jealous and
wanted to be like them. During those moments, I could not help but feel like my life paralleled that
soggy pizza on the top of my tray. I since longed for the pizzas I made with my dad. While some of
my peers were handed a recipe for life, I was left blindsided not knowing how to create my personal
pizza. I wanted to try new combinations, but I realized people were more inclined to order simple pies.
As a result, I became less adventurous and subdued to societal norms of pizza. I ordered pepperoni
and cheese pizzas at parties to please the majority that attended. I began depending on others to shape

Of Mice and Men-Curleys Wife Analysis
Of Mice and Men is a novel set on a ranch in the Salinas Valley in California, during the Great
Depression of the 1930s by John Steinbeck. It was the first work to bring Steinbeck s national
recognition as a writer. The book addresses the real hopes and dreams of working class America.
Steinbeck s short novel raises the lives of the poor and dispossessed to a higher, symbolic level. The
title suggests that plans of Mice and Men often go awry, a reference to Robert Burn s poem To a
Mouse. Since the novel has been published, it has been called Vulgar and Offensive ; perhaps because
of the way it mentally handicapped people, people of different races (black people) and the way in
which women were portrayed. *Of Mice and Men is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

If I d went, I wouldn t be livin like this, you bet and this shows that at one point in her life, she had

plays a vital theme constantly throughout the book for other characters on the ranch too. George and
Lennie have their dream of livin of the fatha tha lan , which fails in the end as George tragically kills
Lennie. They are perpetually stirred with ideas to satisfy their dream and too eager to accomplish what
they started which resulted in them accidentally involving Crooks and Candy in their fairytale. . Hope
is important to all of Steinbeck s characters because it brings strength, joy, peace, unfailing love and
most importantly, rest (relaxation in hard times of the depression was critical). These are qualities the
ranch workers lacked and desperately needed

Purpose Of Tragedy In Romeo And Juliet
Purpose and Tragedy Involving Romeo and Juliet Many of Shakespeare s tragedies illustrate that they
have an unhappy ending, but that isn t true in every case such as this one. In The Tragedy of Romeo
and Juliet , Shakespeare is showing that happiness can be found between two young lovers, even in
the midst of civil strife. When Shakespeare wrote this play, it was the Elizabethan Age. During this
time, daughters were their fathers property and were sold to men of any age, for livestock in return.
Women had less power and say than men, and the father of the house was always in charge. Romeo
had a little more freedom than Juliet per se. Juliet, for example, was the princess locked up in the vine
covered tower with a wealthy family to keep her there. Romeo had more freedom and was in a family
with not as much money as Juliet s. There was also a social class where the Duke and Duchess held
the most power and the peasants had the least power. Juliet s family ... Show more content on

One of those instances is at the end of the play when Juliet uttered, ...drunk all, and left no friendly

would take her life to do so. If she didn t find happiness from their relationship and him she would
never have done what she did, or things would have at least ended differently. The most tragic part
about Romeo and Juliet is that their death and that they end through death. Their impulsive decision
making, and anger towards their families guided their actions. Today, everyone is able in a way to
relate to Romeo and Juliet at some point, by going through the process of being in love . Love is able
to make your decision making impaired, since what you do is to please the love you have and share

Case Citation
Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc., v. Bleem, LLC, David Herpol Sheimer, and James Felix,
214 F.3d 1022 (9th Cir. 2000)
Facts
The appellant is a manufacturer of console games in the form of game disks and Sony Play Station. To
play the console games, one has to load a game disk into a console or play station which has a
connection to the television of the user. On the other hand, to play the PC games, one loads a game
disk into the CD drive contained in a personal computer. However, Sony has engineered its play
station game disks in such a way that it is not possible to play them on the Personal computer but only
on a TV. With a lucrative and enormous market for video games, Sony inc. has managed to be the
market leader with this unique technology (Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc., v. Bleem,
LLC et al. (2000)).
Despite this, the defendants managed to develop a product named a software emulator which makes it
possible for one to interchange the PC games and the TV console games. Hence, once one has bought
the software emulator from Bleem, they can easily use their personal computer to play a Sony
PlayStation. Thus, as a result of this, one who wishes to play or enjoy the Sony games need not
purchase a PlayStation console from Sony. Further, with the software emulator, one enjoys games with

Sarbanes-Oxley Act Essay
The Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) was passed by Congress in 2002 as a response to large corporate
accounting fraud scandals that resulted from blatant abuse of self regulation. SOX is the most far
reaching and significant new federal regulatory statute affecting accountants and governance since the
Securities Acts of 1933 and 1934 (Wegman, 2007). The main goal of SOX was to protect investors
from fraud by strengthening oversight and improving internal control. In the discussion below are the
advantages and disadvantages of SOX as well as an opinion regarding how successful, or
unsuccessful, the SOX regulations were for the prevention of fraud and protection of small business.
Advantages of SOX One of the advantages of SOX was the improvement on and expansion of
corporate disclosures, including but not limited to, audit committee independence, off balance assets
and liabilities and any commitments or contingencies (Akhigbe Martin, 2005). Prior to SOX public
companies could manipulate their financial statements to, among other things, increase the value of

Both men had a love for the spotlight, when speaking about Darrow, Boyle writes in the glare of a high profile case he found the perfect opportunity to attack the status quo and proclaim the modernist creed. The trial itself felt more of a civil rights case than a criminal case. The most impressive thing in regards to the actual trial was the performance done by Darrow. One could draw many similarities between him and To Kill A Mockingbird s Atticus Finch. A common misconception of the courtroom is that the jury goes strictly off of evidence when deliberating. This book clears up that false belief with the attorneys playing off of emotion and targeting pathos. A strong argument presented by Darrow can be summarized by a few statements he made in that courtroom. You are facing a problem of two races, a problem that will take centuries to solve. • 28. Eu Law Of The European Union EU LAW (i) The actions that might be brought by Rochelle and Neil in the national courts With regard to the actions that might be brought by Rochelle and Neil in the national courts when it comes to the matter of complaints about the law of the European Union s (henceforth, the EU s) application, it has generally been recognised that if an individual is recognised as being a national of a Member State, lives in a Member State, or if they run a business in the EU then the law of the Union provides parties like Rochelle and Neil with a number of rights. However, if individuals like Rochelle and/or Neil feel that their rights under the law of the EU in the form of a Directive and a Regulation in this instance respectively have not been respected by a Member State like the UK s national authorities then it is first necessary to bring the matter before those authorities for the purpose of resolution before having to resort to the European Court of Justice (henceforth, the ECJ) for this purpose. This is because it has generally been recognised that this will typically be both the most effective and efficient means to bring about the resolution of any matters of concern raised by parties like Rochelle and/or Neil when it comes to the interpretation and application of the law of the EU. Such an understanding of the position in this regard is evidenced by the fact that the law of the EU in the form of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union 2008 (henceforth, the ... They take daily walks and enjoying with family and friends and of course the daily glass of red wine are just a few other secrets. They value family connections here in Sardinia; most families live together, from the parents, children and the grandchildren (Buettner, 2008). In Okinawa, they enjoy being active and being outdoors in the sunshine, gardening and enjoying the company of their moai (circle of friends). Having a good attitude and what they like to call the ikigai , which is what they say, gives them a purpose in life and what helps them get up every day. They also believe in eating a plant based diet, the consume a lot of tofu and rarely eat fish. What I found very interesting that they eat more sweet potatoes, and they consume the spice, turmeric, which has been linked to healthier hearts (Buettner, 2008.) Loma Linda residents also believe in eating more plant based diets, eating in moderation, eating an early dinner, drinking plenty of water, exercising to maintain a healthy weight, and as we have seen in Sardinia and Okinawa, spending quality time with family and friends. ... The model has structural features which are three stages. The first state is sensory memory which is where all information that is being taken in is held for a couple of seconds. The second stage is the short term memory which can hold 5 to 7 items for 15 to 30 seconds. The last stage is long term memory can hold a large amount of information that can be stored for years or decades. When we look at abortions laws we see between a legal system based on the legal theory of natural law the law that comes from God s nature and inherent right and wrong as He defines it furthermore a legal system based on legal positivism (law is derived from whatever man says is law no inherent right and wrong). Prior to the turn of the 20th century, legal philosophy from whence laws were derived in the Western world was based upon a natural law theory. A belief that there was an inherent right and wrong based on God s principles. In the late 1800 s early 1900 s the legal philosophy began to shift and is now predominantly based upon legal positivism which says that law is only right or wrong because man has made it so. Natural law is based on the character of God; thus, like Him, it does not change as man changes. The importance of how natural law enforces human rights Natural Law shapes conduct, forces specific conduct, and is designed by God to influence moral behavior. Natural law imposes morality which enforces the protection of human rights. Natural law gives a person the free will to do whatever they please as long as that free will does not harm others or violates the Natural laws created by God. • 34. Descriptive Essay On Pizza Half spinach. Half anchovies. Sitting on the countertops of Dominos at my dad s work, I pondered how many combinations of halves people could make with pizzas. Lining the walls, there were containers filled with an array of different toppings ranging from pineapples to pepperonis. While my dad kneaded the dough, I listened to him tell me that pizza can be made it however you want, which incentivized me think of all the possible combinations of pizza mushrooms and sausage, bell peppers and onions, or maybe even jalapenos and ham. Back then, I use to think my dad had the best job in the world, until at school, I was handed free cardboard pizza lunch while other kids parents packed them homemade, hot lunches in thermoses. As my eyes darted between my lunch and my friends , I compared their packed juice boxes and sliced fruit to my flimsy tray and pizza. I was jealous and wanted to be like them. During those moments, I could not help but feel like my life paralleled that soggy pizza on the top of my tray. I since longed for the pizzas I made with my dad. While some of my peers were handed a recipe for life, I was left blindsided not knowing how to create my personal pizza. I wanted to try new combinations, but I realized people were more inclined to order simple pies. As a result, I became less adventurous and subdued to societal norms of pizza. I ordered pepperoni and cheese pizzas at parties to please the majority that attended. I began depending on others to shape my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was the first work to bring Steinbeck s national recognition as a writer. The book addresses the real hopes and dreams of working class America. Steinbeck s short novel raises the lives of the poor and dispossessed to a higher, symbolic level. The title suggests that plans of Mice and Men often go awry, a reference to Robert Burn s poem To a Mouse. • 36. Purpose Of Tragedy In Romeo And Juliet Purpose and Tragedy Involving Romeo and Juliet Many of Shakespeare s tragedies illustrate that they have an unhappy ending, but that isn t true in every case such as this one. In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet , Shakespeare is showing that happiness can be found between two young lovers, even in the midst of civil strife. When Shakespeare wrote this play, it was the Elizabethan Age. During this time, daughters were their fathers property and were sold to men of any age, for livestock in return. Women had less power and say than men, and the father of the house was always in charge. Romeo had a little more freedom than Juliet per se. Juliet, for example, was the princess locked up in the vine covered tower with a wealthy family to keep her there. Romeo had more freedom and was in a family with not as much money as Juliet s. To play the console games, one has to load a game disk into a console or play station which has a connection to the television of the user. On the other hand, to play the PC games, one loads a game disk into the CD drive contained in a personal computer. However, Sony has engineered its play station game disks in such a way that it is not possible to play them on the Personal computer but only on a TV. With a lucrative and enormous market for video games, Sony inc. has managed to be the market leader with this unique technology (Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc., v. Bleem, LLC et al. (2000)). Despite this, the defendants managed to develop a product named a software emulator which makes it possible for one to interchange the PC games and the TV console games. Hence, once one has bought the software emulator from Bleem, they can easily use their personal computer to play a Sony PlayStation. Thus, as a result of this, one who wishes to play or enjoy the Sony games need not purchase a PlayStation console from Sony. Sarbanes-Oxley Act Essay The Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) was passed by Congress in 2002 as a response to large corporate accounting fraud scandals that resulted from blatant abuse of self regulation. SOX is the most far reaching and significant new federal regulatory statute affecting accountants and governance since the Securities Acts of 1933 and 1934 (Wegman, 2007). The main goal of SOX was to protect investors from fraud by strengthening oversight and improving internal control. In the discussion below are the advantages and disadvantages of SOX as well as an opinion regarding how successful, or unsuccessful, the SOX regulations were for the prevention of fraud and protection of small business. Advantages of SOX One of the advantages of SOX was the improvement on and expansion of corporate disclosures, including but not limited to, audit committee independence, off balance assets and liabilities and any commitments or contingencies (Akhigbe Martin, 2005).
