FHEL is a subsidiary of CONCOR India established to reduce post-harvest losses of fruits and vegetables through an integrated cold supply chain. It built India's largest controlled atmosphere facility in Rai, Haryana to store apples from Himachal Pradesh for up to 8 months. FHEL strategically selected apples and the Kundli location for proximity to major markets. Through innovations like controlled atmosphere storage and end-to-end logistics, FHEL has become a leader in the Himachal apple industry, storing over 12,000 metric tons annually. However, FHEL still faces challenges of utilizing full facility capacity, maintaining quality as apples reach open markets lacking cold storage, and engaging farmers through corporate social responsibility.
