 The agriculture sector achieved a high growth rate owing to the expansion of irrigated farm areas.
The modern production technology, the provision of favourable environment for investments in the
sector, the establishments of commercial-scale livestock projects and the absence of major
obstacles for Jordanian exports to traditional and foreign markets all played a major role in
increasing agriculture production.
 Jordan is self-sufficient in a number of agriculture products such as olive oil but imports basic items
such as cereals, dairy products, sugar, red meat, and vegetables.
 The main industries within the sector are: rain fed agriculture, irrigated agriculture, animal
production and rangeland farming, support services (marketing and extension), horticulture (fruits
and vegetables). Jordan’s major agriculture exports are: tomatoes, hydrogenated oil, and tobacco
 In 2014, the agriculture sector contributed 3.2% of the Jordanian GDP and employed 2.9% of the
labour force.
 Total exports in 2014 reached 1.3 Billion USD, a big portion of which was exported to Arab
Countries; mainly Iraqi, UAE, Kuwait, Syria, and Qatar. Efficiency Law
 Numerous crop opportunities are available during the off-season in Europe for high quality exports:
strawberries, seedless tables grapes, galia melons, cherry tomatoes, asparagus, okra, green beans,
snow/snap peas, cut flowers, dates

 To prevent exploitation of farmers by helping them overcome the handicaps
in the marketing of their produce.
 To make the marketing system effective and efficient so that farmers may
get remunerative prices for their produce and the goods are made available
to consumers at reasonable cost.
 To provide incentive prices to farmers for inducing them to increase the
production both in terms of quantity and quality.
 To promote an orderly marketing of agricultural produce by improving the
infrastructure facilities.
The Farm Dairy company
 The fresh dairy sector is the main sector of AlMarai’s business representing more than 40% of
the company sales. Almarai, the largest vertically integrated dairy company worldwide, is
always striving to enhance its leading position in this sector. This group includes a range of
fres products for the whole family from fresh yoghurt and milk to delicious flavored milk
products and the advanced lacto free milk, vetal milk, vetal laban, all of which are prepared
from fresh milk produced by Almarai flock. Almarai fresh liquid products are available I all
GCC countries.
 The product assortment within this category includes Ultra High Tempreture (UHT) milk,
evaporated milk, whipping cream, cooking cream, UHT cream. Almarai yoghurt production
line has seen tremendous improvement in 2013. This investment is in line with Almarai
capital investments objectives to use the most advanced technologies to enhance quality
products and increase production efficiency. Almarai yoghurt is made from 100% natural fresh
calcium rich milk. From zabadi, ghista and labaneh to fruit yoghurt and cream caramel.

  • 6. Agricultural sector in Jordan  The agriculture sector achieved a high growth rate owing to the expansion of irrigated farm areas. The modern production technology, the provision of favourable environment for investments in the sector, the establishments of commercial-scale livestock projects and the absence of major obstacles for Jordanian exports to traditional and foreign markets all played a major role in increasing agriculture production.  Jordan is self-sufficient in a number of agriculture products such as olive oil but imports basic items such as cereals, dairy products, sugar, red meat, and vegetables.  The main industries within the sector are: rain fed agriculture, irrigated agriculture, animal production and rangeland farming, support services (marketing and extension), horticulture (fruits and vegetables). Jordan’s major agriculture exports are: tomatoes, hydrogenated oil, and tobacco  In 2014, the agriculture sector contributed 3.2% of the Jordanian GDP and employed 2.9% of the labour force.  Total exports in 2014 reached 1.3 Billion USD, a big portion of which was exported to Arab Countries; mainly Iraqi, UAE, Kuwait, Syria, and Qatar. Regulations of agricultural marketing  To prevent exploitation of farmers by helping them overcome the handicaps in the marketing of their produce.  To make the marketing system effective and efficient so that farmers may get remunerative prices for their produce and the goods are made available to consumers at reasonable cost.  To provide incentive prices to farmers for inducing them to increase the production both in terms of quantity and quality.  To promote an orderly marketing of agricultural produce by improving the infrastructure facilities.
