Acute Obstructive Pulmonary Disease And Pancreatitis Essay
There are two patients with two different medical diagnosis COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary
Disease) and pancreatitis. COPD is caused by an obstruction of airflow and breathing problems for the
patient. According to the CDC (Center of Disease Control) the prevalence of COPD occurs in both
men and women greater than 18 years of age. There has been a decline in COPD for men from1999
(57.0 per 100.000 of the population to 2010 (47.6 per 100,000 of the population). In women there has
been an increase of COPD from 1999 (35.3 per 100,000 of the population to 2010 (36.4 per 100,000
of the population) (CDC, 2014). The signs and symptoms include breathlessness, frequent coughing,
wheezing and tightness in the chest (COPD Foundation, 2016). Complications of COPD include
respiratory infections, heart problems, lung cancer, high blood pressure and depression (Mayo Clinic,
2015). Laboratory abnormalities of COPD is shown through arterial blood gas analysis which shows
how well oxygen can enter the lungs and remove carbon dioxide. If the oxygen can barely enter and
remove less carbon dioxide the patient is shown to have evidence of COPD (Mayo Clinic, 2015).
Common treatments and modifications to treat COPD is to reduce smoking by going to smoking
sensation classes if the patient is a smoker, bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, combination inhalers,
oral steroids, antibiotics, theophylline and phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor. Other treatments are lung
treatments such as oxygen

Symbolism In The Devil s Arithmetic
The Devil s Arithmetic: a gruesome equation of addition and subtraction, a mix of human numbers, a
reviled combination of death and life. There are several denominations in presenting the story of
Hannah, similar or different they may be. To cover the rudimentary understanding, Hannah, named
after her aunt s dead friend, is forced by her parents to attend a Seder at her grandparent s house. She
is allowed to drink wine and opens the door for Elijah, according to tradition. She speaks the words
Ready or not, here I come... and is transported to the past. Hannah(Chaya to everyone else) tries to
indicate she is from the future, but the people in the past(right around WWII) just shake their heads
and think it is an aftereffect of a supposed illness that took Chaya s parents. Hannah attends a ... Show

The men and women are separated, and put to work. There is a Commandant who hates them, and
they are slowly killed off(The Devil s Arithmetic) per commandant s orders. Working daily, Hannah
and her camp companions steal things such as scarves to get warmer during the frigid days and gelid
nights. Some young men form a plan to escape, but of no avail, even when they change their course of
action. Next, they are caught and killed in a merciless manner, as is expected of the horrendous Nazis,
who are currently killing more Jews daily than ever, probably due to the fact that the Allies are
winning the war. Soon after, Rivka(Hannah s friend) is chosen to die, to Hannah responds by taking
Rivka s scarf and going in her place to be killed; when she arrives at the chamber, the mysterious
power that has transported Hannah to a seemingly dream past grasps Hannah

Nt1330 Unit 6 Lab 1
Goal
The objectives of this lab were to install essential services such as Active Directory, Dynamic Host
Configuration Service, Domain Name Service and Network Time Service on a Windows Server
Platform. I used windows server 2016 technical review version 3 and successfully installed all the
mentioned services on it. In this lab we used all services on windows as primary and I configured the
services on Linux as secondary services.
Security Consideration
One of the important part of system administration should be secure, so it is very important to
understand which factors can affect security inside and outside our system. There are many key
decisions that have to be made, for example, what server operating system should a system use to

We need to have a secure services and network and also it must be available sometime up to 24/7/365.
To make sure that we are close to our Service level agreement (SLA) with our clients, we must check
our performance to find the bottleneck. After identifying our bottlenecks we can plan and see what
changes can improve our performance.
To measure the performance I used Opsview monitoring solution to monitor both DNS and DHCP on
Linux and Windows server. Some sample tools like ping, nslookup and traceroute can be used in
Windows and Linux to measure the basic metrics for DNS and DHCP. TO have a real data we need to
test inside a real network or with some means generate the amount of traffic near the real traffic to
find our network and services bottlenecks.
For DNS we need also to test how long it takes authoritative DNS servers to respond to a request for
your domain or host, including the Domain, the TLD, and the Root DNS server response times. This
test provides us with information to help identify possible DNS hosting performance delays resolving
our domain. It can be useful when evaluating the DNS performance of hosting providers, and general
troubleshooting performance of a

Technology in Life
In the past people have difficult life because of many things and technology is one of them .As we

What Is The Intimate Act Of Choreography
The theme of The Intimate Act of Choreography by Lynne Anne Blom and L. Tarin Chaplin is to
inform the audience on what choreography is and how to go about the creative process of dance. This
book s purpose is to be a guide into choreographic process. The choreographic process, which is a
series of steps that create dance and classify dance as a whole, helps the authors break down the major
ideas to form smaller concepts which are used to initialize a dance. The work provides an analytical
view on dance as an artform but also in making the process to simple to understand and how to use.
They do this using three steps to simplify the choreographic process divide, expand, and use. These
three steps are relatively simple but allow for the audience to understand the purpose of the book and
transfer their newfound knowledge into the world. The Intimate Act of Choreography acts as lecture,
setting up the structural bones for those interested in choreography. This is informative and
opinionated but nonetheless a guide into the domain of dance. ... Show more content on

At this point in time the controversy of what dance means and what creates good dance was a much
debated subject. There was multiple ideas and theories of motion and kinesphere which have all
contributed into the revolution seen today in dance. In the eighties the big idea was meaning. The
question being does dance need meaning or can it just exist. The book The Intimate Act of
Choreography takes the of meaning. Though they must prove how exactly that meaning must be
shown and why meaning is essential to artistry. They does this through the support of

has become the standard, while data prep has remained in the realm of IT and data experts. According
to Paige Schaefer, statistics reflect that self service will extend to data prep in 2017. Again, common
data prep tasks like JSON and HTML imports, data parsing, and data wrangling will no longer be
delegated to data specialists. With new innovations in this transforming space, it is expected that
everyone will be able to tackle these tasks as part of their analytics flow. Analytics are everywhere,
thanks to embedded BI It is said that analytics works best when it s a natural part of people s
workflow. In 2017, analytics will be embedded into applications people use every day, be it Salesforce

World War I and the Progressive Movement
World War I and the progressive movement
Through the course of American history, many great wars and battles have been fought but none have
left a greater impact than World War I. World war I was known as the Great War, although America s
initial plan of action was to bring global peace. The tables unfortunately turned on them. The treaty of
Versailles which was meant to be a conclusion to the madness, lead to an even greater bloodshed. The
Great War span from 1914 1919, within this period of time around 10 million died and 20 million
were injured worldwide. The progressive era took place during 1890 1920. The progressive era was a
constitutional movement led by a group of citizens that believed that their struggles such as poverty,
and violence would get resolved by the government and by education. The constitutional movement
wanted the Americans to take a moment and deeply perceive the meaning of democracy. Industries
and America were pro business and practiced private parties. The company became inveigle by
industry and political machines and lessened the public influence; capitalism became the higher
power, rather than the public being in control, which made a negative effect on society. During the
progressive movement the African American communities were still living as the run down of society.
They were being accountable to unfair treatments that included executions, segregation from public
spaces, not allowed to take part in any

Computers And Its Impact On The Workplace
According to the U.S. Census Forty four million households, or 42 percent, had at least one member
who used the Internet at home in the 2000. Today, no doubt, even more family members in the United
States use computers. Most people are aware of the desktop computers which can be found in the
home and in the workplace. What are the different types of computers and what are their purposes?
Computers can be classified into three different categories of home computers, portable computers,
and business computers including workstations and super computers. First, what is a computer? While
the term computer can apply to virtually any device that has a microprocessor in it, most people think
of a computer as a device that receives input from the user through a mouse or keyboard, processes it
in some fashion and displays the result on a screen. Home computers are being used by children,
teenagers, and adults. The PC or personal computer is designed to be used by one person. The term,
Mac, is a PC, but most people link computers with Windows software such as Windows 98, Windows
2000, or Windows XP. A PC is actually a desktop that is designed to be used in one set location. Most
desktops offer more power, storage, and versatility for less than their portable brethren. Many desktop
computers are used at home and at work. Various types of software have been designed to meet
individual needs of the computer user. The use of home computers or PCs can be for various purposes

In a highly promotional market we invested in giving our customers great value at a time when they
are managing their budgets carefully. We managed our costs, capital investment and stocks tightly. As
a result we delivered earnings in line with last year, and made substantial efficiency savings in our
capital investment plans. Our strategy to transform M S into a leading international, multi channel
retailer remains unchanged and has been validated by strong sales growth in these areas over the last
year. We are making good progress but successful execution of our strategy requires us to adapt to
both market opportunities and current market conditions. In November 2010 we set out a target to
grow our revenues by £1.5bn to £2.5bn over the next three years. As a result of the deterioration in the
economic environment since we set out our plan, we now expect to achieve £1.1bn to £1.7bn increase
in revenues. While conditions in the UK are predicted to be more difficult than originally forecast, we
are on track to deliver both international and multi channel targets.

Goldman Sachs Case Study
1. Why Goldman Sachs Needs a Systematic Approach
Historically, Goldman Sachs (GS) has been known for its high end performance and reputation as one
of the top investment banking firms in the U.S. Placing its customers interests as the first business
principle (Groysberg and Snook, 2005, p. 16), GS takes pride in the high quality work and heavy
teamwork culture in order to execute the best in class financial services. As a small firm, GS relies on
its apprenticeship model, where a new manager will informally learn the job and leadership from an
experienced leader (Groysberg and Snook, 2005, p. 7). However, the booming of financial service
opportunities, the introduction of the High Tech industry, and the global expansion of the firms in the
1990s reveals that there is a discrepancy in GS s mentorship model and the business goals of the firm.
Consequently, GS should consider supplementing the current training method with a more systematic
approach to leadership development to prepare its leaders for the changing business contexts.
1.1 Competitive Investment Banking Service
From 1990 to 1999, the continuous bull market and the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of many private
firms promote the growth of investment banking business. Since the larger resources mean higher
competitiveness for the banks (Groysberg and Snook, 2005, p. 2), many financial service firms are
consolidating to increase their competitive advantages. GS s reputation requires the company to

consume 86% of the total US health care expenditure whereas, CVDs occupy 17%5. Recent reports

Kazuo Ishiguro Genre Analysis
The first question asked in the readings and discussions that we went through in class is what exactly
is the meaning of genre. To me personally, the word genre is it describes either a novel, film, video
game or music by certain generic ideas or rules of what defines that specific genre. Stories can be
described through narrative forms, such as if the writing piece is either a short story, a novel or even a
poem or narration. Also, stories can even be characterized by either similar themes or settings and/or if
they follow a certain structure such as if a book is either defined as comedy or drama.
Daniel Chandler explains perfectly in An Introduction to Genre Theory how genre is not always
straightforward in defining things such as stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also discuss certain books that they have written and how some people have complained that it
shouldn t be classified as a fantasy novel. Both explain how genres are now being mixed and that
sometimes, a book cannot be labeled by just one specific type of genre. I agree with some of Neil
Gaiman s statements, such as how he states that the subject of the book doesn t determine genre and
that genres only exist when there s an abundance of novels that fit that specific genre. I both partly
agree and disagree with Kazuo Ishiguro. I agree with how he believes that there are certain patterns
that are associated with the genre, however, many readers and writers take these specifications too
seriously, and believe that if you don t follow the certain standards of what makes a specific genre,
they believe that it is strange. However, I don t agree with Ishiguro when he states Books are serving
the same function as certain brands of cars or jewelry, in just denoting social position. That kind of
motivation attaches itself to reading in a way that probably doesn t attach itself to film (Ishiguro 7). I
believe that film can also motivate people the same way that books can motivate

Differential Staining Procedure
There are two types of staining: simple staining and differential staining. Staining is used to identify
unknown bacterium including the structures within it and aseptic techniques should always be used.
Bacterium is a transparent cell. Due to this, bacteria has to be stained and identified to be categorized.
During simple staining, a sample of bacteria is taken from a culture. First, water is placed on a slide
with a loop then, the bacteria is scratched onto the slide. It must dry completely before it is fixed to the
slide with the use of a Bunsen burner. One stain such as crystal violet is placed on the slide for one

S And P Waves Lab Report
Lab #2: S and P Waves
This lab experiment s purpose was to simulate how P and S waves move through the layers of the
Earth. The guiding question for this lab was, How are S and P Waves Different? How do S and P
Waves travel differently through the surface of the earth? What can this tell us about what s inside the
earth? There are two different waves that are found in the Earth during and before an earthquake. P
waves, or compressional waves, are the first wave to arrive at a seismic point. They pull and push the
rock to move through it and are almost the warning for an earthquake. They can travel through both
solid and liquid, and are the faster of the two. S waves are secondary waves, and they move side to
side. S waves can only move through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that were expected. It is assumed that the procedure was not followed exactly and so the experiment
was performed incorrectly. The data should have been looked over to confirm that the simulations
were yielding accurate results.
It is suggested that the procedure for this lab be modified to be more clear on how the experiment is
performed for each type of wave, particularly the P waves. The group was unsure starting out on how
to move the Slinky to produce an accurate representation of a P wave, and the diagram did not clear

Wellness Reflection
In the beginning of the semester, my class and I were asked to assess our current wellness. As I
assessed myself, I thought about my strengths and weaknesses within the components of wellness:
spiritual, social, physical, emotional, intellectual, occupational, and environmental. As I evaluated
each component I was able to narrow down my strengths and weaknesses. I came to the conclusion
that I excel in my physical and social components, but needed improvement in my emotional
component; my stress level rose due to the start of school and closing of college application deadlines.
In addition to my high stress level, I had noticed my lack in hydration. I realized that I lacked in water
intake because my main focus throughout the day was getting work done on time which caused me to
forget about drinking the right amount of water I needed. Evaluating my strengths and weaknesses
taught me to focus more on my emotional well being and my health.
Later in the semester, my class and I went through a fitness screening process. One of the stations was
the push up station. After I completed my push ups I had realized that I had done less push ups than I
did the past Spring. This result lead me to the desire of increasing my muscle mass in my upper body
in order to complete more push ups by the next fitness screening test. When the fitness screening
process was completed I had come to the conclusion of the three areas of health and fitness I wanted
to improve upon. I had decided to reduce my daily stress, increase my upper body strength, and
increase my daily water intake. Once I recognized the three areas of health and fitness I wanted to
improve upon, I began to initiate my plan of action. In order to reduce my stress I planned to
download a meditation app on my iPhone. I planned to do a five to ten minute meditation session for
four days a week Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday for the first six weeks. For the following
six weeks I planned to take a one hour yoga class every Sunday. To track my progress I planned to
write a journal entry every Sunday about how I felt after meditating. Furthermore, to increase my
upper body strength I planned to do fifteen push ups in the morning and at night, after I wake

A Comparison Of Faith And The Future Of Religion
A Comparison of Faith
Faith, defined as a strong belief in something which cannot be proven, has been argued over countless
generations. Still, even without proof, individuals worldwide hold true to their faith each day. After
studying faith and religion in texts written by scholars with varying backgrounds, it is easy to see faith
is something which is widely disputed. Comparison of Sigmund Freud s The Future of an Illusion and
Paul Tillich s Dynamics of Faith, fully displays the discrepancies in points of view on the function of
faith, as well as the necessity of faith, in society; while the comparison of Viktor E. Frankl s Man s
Search for Meaning and Karl Marx s on the Future of Religion, demonstrate both similarities and
differences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout his book, Tillich references faith as an ultimate concern to emphasize the importance of
faith in the personality of individuals. Furthermore, Tillich believes faith is a vital part of human
nature and that even the rejection of faith is, in itself, an act of faith. This displays Tillich s
understanding that faith will never disappear from society because it is a piece of the puzzle in what
makes up humanity (Tillich).
After summarizing both arguments, discernibly Sigmund Freud and Paul Tillich would hold opposing
views on both the function of faith and the future of faith. The disagreement would begin with the
function of religion in society, displayed when Tillich writes, The question raised by this book is
whether such belief is based on insight or on misunderstanding, and the question is unambiguously
that the rejection of faith is rooted in a complete misunderstanding of the nature of faith (146). Freud
believes religion is man being immature, but Tillich feels differently. Tillich perceives the rejection of
faith as the misunderstanding of the true nature of faith. If Tillich and Freud were to hold a debate,
Tillich would most likely discuss how Freud misunderstands faith s nature. Freud, however, would
respond with a discussion about how faith is man looking for security in the world.

Life Under Nazi Rule Essay
Life under Nazi rule did have several positive aspects economically and socially for people in
Germany including increased prosperity in regaining full employment and economic growth, they
regained lost territories, increased national prestige and pride and hosted the 1936 Olympic Games.
Increased prosperity was created through full employment through the introduction of the DAF also
referred to the German Labour Front. The DAF was set up by the Nazis to replace the free trade
unions The aim of the Labour Front is to educate all Germans who are at work to support the National
Socialist state and to indoctrinate them in the National Socialist mentality this is a proclamation to all

Charles I Turning Point
How far can the abdication of Charles I in 1555 be considered a key turning point in Spanish History
1474 1598?
After the abdication of Charles I in 1555, his son Philip II became King of Spain, leaving a country
that had experienced many difficulties through the last century. Events such as Civil rebellions, an
uncertain monarchy and non uniform religions had struck Spain, and various events had affected its
history. However, while the abdication was an important turning point in Spanish history, there are
various other events that also impacted it greatly. Events such as Ferdinand and Isabella establishing

Flexible Staffing In Nursing
Even though RNAO and other agencies support flexible staffing and even mentioned self scheduling
in their best practice guideline, there is no framework for agencies to implement it in their respective
hospitals. In a trial conducted by Griesmer (1993), nurses are required to work for 160 hours in 4
weeks and can skip 16 hours of work per scheduling period. Griersmer also incorporated some of their
old rules into the framework such as each nurse is to work 2 weeks of day shift and night shift
respectively, work in the weekends every 3 weeks and at least 1 Friday evening. In the instance of
over staffing, the staff can work among themselves to trade off a shift, take a day off or make up for it

Initiating change can be quite difficult especially when majority of the staff are satisfied with the
status quo. Verbalizing a compelling vision can increase the urgency for change, asking for feedback

can solve the reluctance of the staff to change to self scheduling. Communication breakdown can
negatively impact the staff s willingness to participate in th change process. The staff s productivity
and engagement in the change can be improve by maintaining an open communication that updates
the stake holders with timely and accurate information. Nurses abusing the system is common across
any scheduling framework as some staff put their personal wants before the unit s needs and
accumulate a lot of unworked hours without making up for it. Involving the staff in the initiative
reduces this problem. Griesmer solved the problem by allowing each nurse to be the monitor of the

of effort the shift managers had to put in to create a schedule that accounts for everyone s needs. .
Eventually, the role becomes available to everyone and every nurse is required to be a MOM at least

To make a fair evaluation of HFC and the other bidding companies we would compare the companies
WACC and the required rate of return which in this case we would use the Ke (CAPM), where the
Hershey s WACC is less than the CAPM (which is used to estimate the required rate of return which is
suitable for an asset). Taking the companies rates of return and the percentage for the wacc, for each
invested dollar that the Hershey, Wrigley, Nestle and Cadbury Schweppes, 0.0041cents, 0cents,
0.0099cents and 0.0088cents respectively are values the companies managed to gain. Hence, Hershey
was fairly valued by the stock market because for every dollar it was investing out of the bidding
companies it was the one who was gaining less (this is not taking into consideration Wrigley because
it is a company which only concentrates on chewing gums so it will not be fair to compare it with the
other three companies.
Also, to support the point that the stock market did a fair valuation of Hershey, the market value of
equity for Hershey was low even though it had the highest price per share out of the other three
companies. It is the shares outstanding which were low that made Hershey incur a low amount of
equity.

The Yellow Wallpaper And I Stand Here Ironing By Tillie Olsen
Domestic ideology is a series of related ideas that characterized the family home as the domain of the
woman, and that based these ideas on the belief that women were innately weaker to the man. The
Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and I Stand Here Ironing by Tillie Olsen show great
stories about women not falling into the domestic ideology role. The authors demonstrate this through
the ability to properly function, being an efficient mother, and not meeting the expectations of the
domestic ideology. The culture of women during the 1880s 1910s was expected to get married and
stay at home to become a housewife. They would have to raise the children making sure they are
behaved and well groomed. Also, women were expected to have the house cleaned every day. From

The American Of The British Empire Essay
In the British Empire, existed thirteen colonies found between the 1600s and the 1700s on the Atlantic
Coast of North America. These thirteen colonies later on combined together into a new nation
currently known as the United States of America. Immigrations from Britain and Germany had high
growth rates and were all successful and thriving. These colonies had self governments furthermore to
similar political and legal systems. The self government systems were based mainly on farmers who
owned a piece of land and served on local juries. To the British, the American lands were there
generally to provide raw materials to Britain and be purchasers of British goods.
The American Revolution rose when the Thirteen American Colonies did not accept monarchy,
aristocracy, and refused to follow the authority of Britain. The revolution was a consequence of social,
political, and logical transformation in the American Society. Due to those aspects, the Americans had
to seek a way to escape the British powers.
When the fight for Independence first started, the main conflict between Britain and the American
colonists was particularly caused by the financial reasons of the War. The British were certain that the
American colonists were not playing the financial role correctly. Shortly after, the tension elevated and
resulted in the enforcement of The Stamp Act, which was a law that obligated every colonist to pay a
tax on printed paper that includes official documents, such as bills, and

Air Pollution
4.4. DATA The US air emission data employed in this study is obtained from the US Environmental
Protection Agency s national emission inventory (USEPA 2006; 2009), covering all anthropogenic
emissions of six air pollutants (SO2, PM2.5, PM10, NOx, VOC, and NH3) in the 48 states of the US

In order to link emissions and damages to the IO data, we match industries in six digit NAICS code to
industries in six digit IO code, and it is no problem for most cases. However, there are two exceptional
cases. One exceptional case is that for 20 IO industries, we cannot find the matched NAICS industries.
That is, there is no information on damages in the 20 IO industries. Thus, in the baseline model, we
leave damages in the 20 industries equal to zero. Another exceptional case is that with regard to the
agricultural industries and construction industries, damage data are in a more aggregated level.
Therefore, disaggregating GEDs are necessary with respect to those industries. In the baseline model
we allocate GEDs in agricultural and construction industries proportionally to value added. The
procedures to handle these two exceptional cases are explained in Appendix B. Furthermore,
sensitivity analyses are carried out in Section 4.6 to assess changes of results if different approaches
are used to handle these issues. For the simplicity of results presentation and results discussion, we
further aggregate the estimated results into 42 sectors according to the IO code. Hereafter, we refer to
the 6 digit IO industries as industries , and refer to the 42 aggregated IO sectors as sectors . In
addition, according to the sectoral characteristic, the 42 sectors can be allocated into three broad
aggregates: the primary

Essay on Censorship in Schools is not Justifiable
Censorship in School is Not Justifiable Walt Whitman once said, The dirtiest book of all is the
expurgated book. Between the years 2000 and 2009 a total of 3200 books were challenged in school
libraries in an attempt to expurgate, or censor, the content in books provided to students. Today the
trend of censorship continues as popular novels such as The Hunger Games, The Fault in Our Stars,
and Captain Underpants are censored from schools across the nation (Challenges by

Heinrich Heine states, Wherever they burn books they will also, in the end, burn human beings.
Restricting the discussion of new and controversial ideas rather than tolerating and acknowledging the
presence of new and controversial ideas is causing more pain than it is worth in the school setting. The
idea of censoring reality from school libraries is unreasoned, yet that is exactly what pro censorship
individuals advocate. The discussion and knowledge of new, controversial, and necessary ideas among
students is restricted due to censorship.
Censorship in school libraries allows teachers, administrators, peers and their parents to decide what a
student may or may not read based on their opinion. Opinion is variable between different groups of
people within the school; therefore, a single person or a small group of people cannot be trusted to
make decisions on the behalf of a larger group. Kekla Magoon argues, That no one person can be
trusted to censor material, individuals can choose to be exposed to. Expurgation, banning, and
abridgement of books are not allowing students to learn how to guard themselves from topics they do
not personally believe in. Students would benefit much more if they practiced self censorship rather
than depending on adults to make decisions for them. A

Voltaire
Voltaire s Letters on England is a collection of written documents that Voltaire wrote between 1726
and 1729 on his experiences he had while staying in England. After its publication in French in 1734,
many people of French ethnicity saw it as a bashing of the French government, and even a little bit on
the Catholic religion. Voltaire does seem to be fairly favorable towards the English in his letters,
which is understandable after he was exiled in his homeland of France multiple times. In many cases
Voltaire saw in England what he wished to see in France. In England, Voltaire saw a land with a more
tolerant government, and freedom of religion as compared to France, which he saw as cruel and
oppressive. Voltaire goes into detail, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one of the many issues brought up in Letters on England that the French took as a slight
towards themselves after the letters were published. I believe that Voltaire was so firm on his belief of
a separation of religion and state because he himself was not a follower of any said religion. Although
Voltaire was not an atheist as many believed him to be. Voltaire did not believe that a person did not
have to be involved in any one religion to believe in God. Voltaire believed in a higher power one
supreme, intelligent being but not in any one particular religion. Although there are aspects of the
Anglicans that Voltaire does seem to disapprove of, he does believe the Anglicans to be more virtuous
than the French Catholics; another insult to the French people. In morals the Anglican clergy are more
virtuous than the French, and this is why....They are not called to the higher positions in the church

he tells Miss Kenton, The day his lordship s work is complete...only on that day...will I be able to call

Spanking Harmful To Children Research Paper
Is Spanking Harmful to Children?
Spanking, also known as corporal punishment is a highly controversial method of discipline that
parents currently use in an attempt to modify their children s misbehavior. This type of punishment is
not known to uplift the essence of education in children, and many parents and researchers feel that
spanking leads to developmental problems. Research studies show how spanking produces a negative
effect in children, and parents and caregivers should reconsider the use of corporal punishment as a
form of discipline for their children because of its harmful effects. In addition, there are other, better
alternatives that can be used to discipline children.

In summary, spanking and corporal punishment are two things that have many opponents. But many
argue that spanking will and can do more harm than good. According to some researchers, spanking
does cause negative effects on children. Some researchers even say spanking causes permanent
emotional and developmental problems.
Fortunately, we discovered a few alternative forms of discipline that work exceptionally well when
disciplining children. A stern look is a very effective one. Another, would be time out, removing the
child from the situation, in turn interrupting the unwanted behavior. One more would be the removal
of privileges. Taking away electronics for a short period of time is a very effective consequence.
Lastly, would be positive praise, encouraging phrases that motivate children to behave well.

Symbolism In Edgar Allen Poe s The Tell Tale Heart
The author Edgar Allen Poe creates a story called The Tell Tale Heart about a man who creeps into
this old man s room for 8 days and is convinced that the man vexed him with his eye. The old man s
eye which he refers to as the vulture eye is a symbol. Poe uses symbolism and setting in the story to
show how the narrator is like and about his mental condition. Through the use of symbolism, setting,
and characterization. The author of the The Tell Tale Heart hows that the narrator is mad and
unreliable. Through the use of symbolism Poe spied on the old man to look at the eye that vexed him,
which he called the vulture eye. A symbol for eye is a window to the soul, which shows the narrator is

so it is impossible to do the work; for it is not the old man who vexed me, but his Evil Eye (1). He

Strange Fruit Controversy
Following our nation s reconstruction, racist sentiments continued to occur and White on Black
violence was prevalent throughout society. The horrible act of lynching African Americans was
thoroughly widespread in the United States, particularly in the South. It is said that approximately
4,742 individuals were lynched between 1882 and 1968; of the victims, 3,445 or seventy three percent
were African American (Perloff 315). An image of two lynched young men inspired Abel Meeropol to
create the poem, Strange Fruit, later converted into a song by Billie Holiday. On August 7, 1930 in

The Dystopian Novel The Maze Runner
The Dystopian Novel The Maze Runner has a rather dark and cold theme to it, yet some find the story
to be lacking the naturalistic feel that some search for when they read. (We will be using theme by the
verb definition while describing The Maze Runner in this essay.) The Maze Runner has a very tranquil
feel to it and no matter what was happening it didn t feel real. Even as Thomas were being chased by
the Grievers, leaving his dear friend and leader Alby behind hung like some wet clothes out to dry,
some readers were not brought to the edge of one s seat like they expected to be. The way the
characters are written and the way they interact really does not show that they have lived and survived
together in the Glade like the author probably intended. Everyone is so separated, not a close bond in
sight. No one actually has a color of their own other than that of some dingy, off colored green they all
seem to share. All of the characters were pretty static. With the amount of hype everyone made this
book out to be some can only say that they are deeply disappointed at how droll this whole entire book
was.
One of the hardest things in writing is getting the sensations and scenes in your head onto paper good
enough for another person to read and see almost the same thing. It is a challenge, most authors can
attest to that being the case. The problem with The Maze Runner is that no matter how hard the author

The scene in the novel where all the porno cinemas were bombed and burned to the ground was

Some young men form a plan to escape, but of no avail, even when they change their course of action. World War I and the Progressive Movement World War I and the progressive movement Through the course of American history, many great wars and battles have been fought but none have left a greater impact than World War I. World war I was known as the Great War, although America s initial plan of action was to bring global peace. The tables unfortunately turned on them. The treaty of Versailles which was meant to be a conclusion to the madness, lead to an even greater bloodshed. The Great War span from 1914 1919, within this period of time around 10 million died and 20 million were injured worldwide. The progressive era took place during 1890 1920. The progressive era was a constitutional movement led by a group of citizens that believed that their struggles such as poverty, and violence would get resolved by the government and by education. The constitutional movement wanted the Americans to take a moment and deeply perceive the meaning of democracy. Industries and America were pro business and practiced private parties. The company became inveigle by industry and political machines and lessened the public influence; capitalism became the higher power, rather than the public being in control, which made a negative effect on society. As a small firm, GS relies on its apprenticeship model, where a new manager will informally learn the job and leadership from an experienced leader (Groysberg and Snook, 2005, p. 7). However, the booming of financial service opportunities, the introduction of the High Tech industry, and the global expansion of the firms in the 1990s reveals that there is a discrepancy in GS s mentorship model and the business goals of the firm. Consequently, GS should consider supplementing the current training method with a more systematic approach to leadership development to prepare its leaders for the changing business contexts. 1.1 Competitive Investment Banking Service From 1990 to 1999, the continuous bull market and the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of many private firms promote the growth of investment banking business. To me personally, the word genre is it describes either a novel, film, video game or music by certain generic ideas or rules of what defines that specific genre. Stories can be described through narrative forms, such as if the writing piece is either a short story, a novel or even a poem or narration. Also, stories can even be characterized by either similar themes or settings and/or if they follow a certain structure such as if a book is either defined as comedy or drama. I both partly agree and disagree with Kazuo Ishiguro. I agree with how he believes that there are certain patterns that are associated with the genre, however, many readers and writers take these specifications too seriously, and believe that if you don t follow the certain standards of what makes a specific genre, they believe that it is strange. However, I don t agree with Ishiguro when he states Books are serving the same function as certain brands of cars or jewelry, in just denoting social position. As I assessed myself, I thought about my strengths and weaknesses within the components of wellness: spiritual, social, physical, emotional, intellectual, occupational, and environmental. As I evaluated each component I was able to narrow down my strengths and weaknesses. I came to the conclusion that I excel in my physical and social components, but needed improvement in my emotional component; my stress level rose due to the start of school and closing of college application deadlines. In addition to my high stress level, I had noticed my lack in hydration. I realized that I lacked in water intake because my main focus throughout the day was getting work done on time which caused me to forget about drinking the right amount of water I needed. Evaluating my strengths and weaknesses taught me to focus more on my emotional well being and my health. Later in the semester, my class and I went through a fitness screening process. Throughout his book, Tillich references faith as an ultimate concern to emphasize the importance of faith in the personality of individuals. Furthermore, Tillich believes faith is a vital part of human nature and that even the rejection of faith is, in itself, an act of faith. This displays Tillich s understanding that faith will never disappear from society because it is a piece of the puzzle in what makes up humanity (Tillich). After summarizing both arguments, discernibly Sigmund Freud and Paul Tillich would hold opposing views on both the function of faith and the future of faith. The disagreement would begin with the function of religion in society, displayed when Tillich writes, The question raised by this book is whether such belief is based on insight or on misunderstanding, and the question is unambiguously that the rejection of faith is rooted in a complete misunderstanding of the nature of faith (146). Freud believes religion is man being immature, but Tillich feels differently. Tillich perceives the rejection of faith as the misunderstanding of the true nature of faith. The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and I Stand Here Ironing by Tillie Olsen show great stories about women not falling into the domestic ideology role. The authors demonstrate this through the ability to properly function, being an efficient mother, and not meeting the expectations of the domestic ideology. These thirteen colonies later on combined together into a new nation currently known as the United States of America. Immigrations from Britain and Germany had high growth rates and were all successful and thriving. These colonies had self governments furthermore to similar political and legal systems. The self government systems were based mainly on farmers who owned a piece of land and served on local juries. To the British, the American lands were there generally to provide raw materials to Britain and be purchasers of British goods. The American Revolution rose when the Thirteen American Colonies did not accept monarchy, aristocracy, and refused to follow the authority of Britain. The revolution was a consequence of social, political, and logical transformation in the American Society. Due to those aspects, the Americans had to seek a way to escape the British powers. When the fight for Independence first started, the main conflict between Britain and the American colonists was particularly caused by the financial reasons of the War. The British were certain that the American colonists were not playing the financial role correctly. Shortly after, the tension elevated and resulted in the enforcement of The Stamp Act, which was a law that obligated every colonist to pay a tax on printed paper that includes official documents, such as bills, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to link emissions and damages to the IO data, we match industries in six digit NAICS code to industries in six digit IO code, and it is no problem for most cases. However, there are two exceptional cases. One exceptional case is that for 20 IO industries, we cannot find the matched NAICS industries. That is, there is no information on damages in the 20 IO industries. Thus, in the baseline model, we leave damages in the 20 industries equal to zero. Another exceptional case is that with regard to the agricultural industries and construction industries, damage data are in a more aggregated level. Therefore, disaggregating GEDs are necessary with respect to those industries. In the baseline model we allocate GEDs in agricultural and construction industries proportionally to value added. The procedures to handle these two exceptional cases are explained in Appendix B. Furthermore, sensitivity analyses are carried out in Section 4.6 to assess changes of results if different approaches are used to handle these issues. For the simplicity of results presentation and results discussion, we further aggregate the estimated results into 42 sectors according to the IO code. Hereafter, we refer to the 6 digit IO industries as industries , and refer to the 42 aggregated IO sectors as sectors . Between the years 2000 and 2009 a total of 3200 books were challenged in school libraries in an attempt to expurgate, or censor, the content in books provided to students. Today the trend of censorship continues as popular novels such as The Hunger Games, The Fault in Our Stars, and Captain Underpants are censored from schools across the nation (Challenges by Reason).Censorship in regards to literature refers to the examination and suppressing of a book because of objectionable material. Heinrich Heine states, Wherever they burn books they will also, in the end, burn human beings. Restricting the discussion of new and controversial ideas rather than tolerating and acknowledging the presence of new and controversial ideas is causing more pain than it is worth in the school setting. The idea of censoring reality from school libraries is unreasoned, yet that is exactly what pro censorship individuals advocate. The discussion and knowledge of new, controversial, and necessary ideas among students is restricted due to censorship. Censorship in school libraries allows teachers, administrators, peers and their parents to decide what a student may or may not read based on their opinion. Opinion is variable between different groups of people within the school; therefore, a single person or a small group of people cannot be trusted to make decisions on the behalf of a larger group. Kekla Magoon argues, That no one person can be trusted to censor material, individuals can choose to be exposed to. Expurgation, banning, and abridgement of books are not allowing students to learn how to guard themselves from topics they do not personally believe in. Students would benefit much more if they practiced self censorship rather than depending on adults to make decisions for them. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through the use of symbolism, setting, and characterization. The author of the The Tell Tale Heart hows that the narrator is mad and unreliable. Through the use of symbolism Poe spied on the old man to look at the eye that vexed him, which he called the vulture eye. The Dystopian Novel The Maze Runner The Dystopian Novel The Maze Runner has a rather dark and cold theme to it, yet some find the story to be lacking the naturalistic feel that some search for when they read. Even as Thomas were being chased by the Grievers, leaving his dear friend and leader Alby behind hung like some wet clothes out to dry, some readers were not brought to the edge of one s seat like they expected to be.
