In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer by Jennifer Armstrong
Plot Pages (77 180) After a long period of time, Irena was reunited with her family. She believed it
was one of her happiest day because while she was away she only thought about her family. The
family decided to tell what happened after they were separated. Irene told them she raped and abused
and her family told her how they were slaves to the Germans. While she was exploring Radom, she
noticed everything was different now. Street names were changed, posters that were cruel and
mocking were on the walls, violence on the streets, and fences with barbed wire. Her sister, Janine
told her Glinice ghetto held Jews from Radom and the surroundings countryside. Irene was unsure

The Germans came to their household and took her father away because they needed someone to help
them on how to run a factory. The mother decided to leave to Kozlowa Gora and take the three

worse, Irena was captured and put to work in an ammunition factory. She was acknowledged that she
understood German and spoke it well. She taken to work in the kitchen and serve food with Herr

generosity. While she was working, she observed soldiers shooting many Jews in the Jewish ghetto
just outside of the dining hall. She now knew how the soldiers handled their Jewish problem. Within
that day, she knew she wanted to help Jews in any way possible. It was told that if one was caught
helping a Jew, death would be their punishment. She began to place food in a metal box and placing it

The Internet And Its Impact On The World
The internet is a vast place with information on every topic known to man, even the unnecessary ones
but only 0.03 percent (Jones 2014) of the internet is surfed by the majority of the population. The
other ninety nine point ninety seven percent is left untouched. That other large percentage is possible
to get to but companies like google, bing, and yahoo haven t cracked the code on how to do it but at
the same time choose not to incorporate that large percentage because they think it s too risky to do so.
This unchartered area for most is known by many names such as the darknet, invisible web, and
hidden web but most call it the deep web because of the ocean metaphor many tech savvy people use
to represent the internet and The Deep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now how sites become deep web material is anything from: requiring a password to getting in ,or
encrypted ,or the website is trying not to be found. Thats where programs like Tor come along or
otherwise known as the onion router because the process Tor uses is known as onion routing. Onion
routing is the idea that if someone wants to access a website they go from point A to B like on the
regular internet but since onion routing/Tor is built on anonymity they get from point A to B by adding
more points so on onion routing the user would go from point A to B to C to D to E to F or however
many it takes. How they do this is when a user sends a signal that they want to go to a website then
that signal will be encrypted and sent to a node or just another computer. When the signal gets to that
node a layer of the encryption will be solved and then sent to another node and the same thing will
happen till the signal reaches it s final destination. This process means that search times are a little
longer then normal but it is to insure that the user stays as undetectable as possible. Now Tor s system
is designed in a way that anyone can be a node if they wanted too, all that means is that traffic will go
through the users pc (Tor 2005).
The Deep Web gets a lot of bad reputation due to what resides in the depths. Because the Deep Web is
so difficult to navigate, it leads to many illegal things being stored

Smartphones Are The New Way People Connect With Their...
Thesis: Smartphones are the new way people connect with their friends and associates.
The types of smartphones are endless, but the options are pretty much limited to either
Android phones or Apple phones. Everyone has different opinions about their phone.
Some people hate it, but some people love it. There are many factors that contribute to make Android
look good just like there are many factors that contribute to make Apple look good.
Thing 1: Apple
Thing 2: Android
Topic: More secure and more users friendly. Topic: Combination of a large variety of phones and low
prices.
Supporting Fact: Apple only uses their own programs.
Supporting Fact: Androids use different programs, so there is more variety.
Analysis: iTunes, and other programs are apple affiliated. This makes it so iPhones are more secure
and can t get viruses as easy, but people are forced to conform to
Apple products and their ways.
Analysis: Androids can get viruses from the many programs it has, but there is more room to play with
Androids.
Supporting Fact: Easier to navigate, but no variability. Supporting Fact: Much variability, but not as
easy to navigate.
Analysis: The user interface is more kid and elderly friendly. All the apps are on the homescreen.
Analysis: There are many different apps you could download, but it s harder to navigate because not
all of the apps are on the homescreen.
Supporting Fact: Cameras have a little better quality, but the zooming is not as good. Supporting Fact:

Panera Bread Co Business Model And Efficient Business...
As of 2006, Panera Bread was operating nationwide with 1000 locations in 38 states. The freshly
baked bread leader officially established by Au Bon Pain in 1999 has managed to succeed achieving
high sales and operating profits, and a 17% increase in the number of outlets. The company s
commitment to serve its customers a delightful meal, in a very amiable environment has led them to
the possibility of restructuring their business strategies. This report provides a profound analysis and
evaluation of Panera Bread Co. in respects to the company s business model and efficient business
operations. The methods of analysis utilized include: breakdown of several financial statements such
as: income statements, balance sheets, pro forma statements, as well as, short term and long term
solvency ratios. As a result of poor performance of in store sales, in its current growth phase, the
company is facing inability to rely on internal funding; which has led to tighter margins. Increases in
product and material costs, and increases in pricing have initiated a downward trend in transaction
growth, which has affected Panera Bread causing the company to operate at tighter margins. In
addition, there has been a huge decline in the company s market share as a result of tighter margins,
increase in costs, and weakening in transaction growth. These limitations have led Panera Bread to
consider external financing in order to be able to continue their day to day operations. Our proposed
solution

Different Power Relationships in Section 4 in Of Mice And...

AND MEN
In Section 4 in Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck, the author, decides to put four characters in the
section/scene. The four characters are: Crooks, Lennie, Candy and Curley s Wife. In this scene,
Steinbeck portrays power through the characters. He portrays different types of power and uses
different methods to show us the power relationship through the four characters. Steinbeck presents
differing power through three main methods. These methods are: power through the setting, power
through all four characters (as one band of characters), and through individual power in the group. As
a result of this, we see difference between certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Steinbeck brought the two characters, Candy and Curley s Wife, in a way where they cancel each
other out: Candy gets angry and calms himself down whilst Curley s wife couldn t do anything to or
threat Candy as he even told her that he didn t care if he got sacked.
Not only this but Curley s Wife gives us an impression of what she thinks of the other characters in the
Section as she calls them a bunch of bindle stiffs a nigger an a dum dum and a lousy ol sheep.
Steinbeck immediately portrays the difference of power between them through Curley s
Wife thoughts.
When Lennie, Candy and Crooks were all together before Curley s Wife entered, they were in the
middle of talking about George and Lennies American Dream. Crooks entered a dreamy state: he
forget about The Great Depression and forgot about hi skin colour and his status. After
Candy had a go at Curley s Wife and told her to leave, Crooks said that Maybe you better go along to
your own house. Curley s Wife ignored his comment. This shows us that she thinks that she is superior
to him and that he cant boss her around. Steinbeck again subtly indicates this without direct speech.
Later on when things become tenser, Crooks stands up for himself: Crooks stood up from his bunk and
faced her. I had enough, he said coldly. You got no rights comin in a coloured man s room.... . The fact
that before, to white people he

Stereotypes In The Film, Goon By Seann William Scott
Do you ever feel like everyone has a thing ? That one thing, something they re good at? But you just
can t seem to find your thing? Then you share the same feeling with Doug Glatt, played by Seann
William Scott has in the movie Goon. All Dougs family and friends have their thing, his parents and
brother are doctors, his best friend has a hockey themed webcast he owns, but Doug has nothing but
his job as a bouncer at the local bar. All that changes when a hockey coach witnesses Doug in a fight,
bashing some unfortunate souls face in, he quickly offers doug the opportunity to play hockey as an
enforcer claiming, You ve been touched by the fist of God for Christ s sake! . An enforcer is a player
in hockey who is on the ice solely to protect the team s star players, they are goons .
The movie takes you along with Doug on his journey to getting payed to play for a team in
Massachusetts as an enforcer for their star player Xavier Laflamme played by Marc André Grondin. It
s a long road for Doug considering he has never played hockey let alone skated. As Doug fights,
literally fights, for the team s respect, knocking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If that sort of stuff doesn t bother you, you ll love this movie. When there isn t an action packed fight

as a juicy subplot between Doug and a girl he meets named Eva played by Alison Pill. I personally
love the movie Goon and for me it s an easy 6 out of 5 stars. One of the most amazing concepts to this
movie is the plot is actually one hundred percent possible! And even better you don t have to know
anything about hockey to love this movie, just don t let it give you the wrong impression of the game
of hockey, although the vulgar language and crude jokes are something that is like clockwork in
hockey; it s not all

A Research Study On Patenting Genes Of Organism
Patenting Genes of Organism
The advancement of technology has lead to many scientists conducting more experiments with gene
modification. This has lead to scientists to isolate certain genes that may cause a certain disease, thus
modified genes may change the organism in a particular way. It may help farmers with crop
cultivation and reduce crop infestation. It may also help farmers to be able to cultivated crops or keep
animals that are prawn to drought resistance. Before, I go in details explain the importance of why
businesses that develop modified organisms should be able to preserve their property rights by
patenting such organisms or why such organism should not be patentable. I would like to briefly
explain the history of patenting. For over two hundred years living organisms have been excluded
from patent laws; life forms were considered a product of nature and not a human invention. The non
patentable status of living organisms changed with the 1980 landmark Supreme Court case Diamond
v. Chakrabarty, (W3 Unisa, 2005). The court decided in a narrow 5 4 decision that a strain of bacteria
that had been modified by the insertion of new genes was patentable because it was not naturally
occurring. The foreign genes gave the bacteria the ability to break down hydrocarbons, and its
inventors hoped it might be useful for cleaning up oil spills. Historically, patents were initially
developed to insure and protect inventors and to make sure that they could benefit

Detecting Heart Blockage in a Patient
These chambers are separated by valves to prevent back flow of blood (into the atria). Between the
right atrium and the right ventricle is the tricuspid valve and between the left atrium and the left
ventricle is the bicuspid valve. Separating the left ventricle and the aorta is the aortic valve and the
pulmonic valve is found between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery.
The ability of the heart to contract stems from its possession of the SA node (Sino atrial node) also
called the pacemaker as it generates the hearts own electrical signal and allows it to contract and pump
blood to the rest of the body. This gives the heart a special feature making it the only organ that is
capable of working outside the body if provided with enough oxygen.
The electrical system controls the rhythm of the heart and the heart rate. A problem with the hearts
electrical system affecting the transfer of signals from the SA node to the AV node and then the
ventricles leads to what is called a heart block. A disruption in the electrical rhythm from the SA node
is regarded as an SA node block while disruptions below the AV node are classified under the AV
block which is then further divided into sub groups depending on the level disruption. In some cases,
people are born with this condition and are said to have congenital heart block whereas those that get
it through e.g. open heart surgery are said to have acquired heart block. Heart block can be classified
as an arrhythmia which is a

The Kootenai Tribe
The tribe that I am researching for my curriculum module is the Kootenai Tribe. In this project I
would like to learn the history of this tribe; from their first encounter with western settlers to the
present times. I would also like to know the political history, and the impacts that this tribe has had on
treaties and other government documents. This tribe has peaked my interest in the last few years
because, after living in Montana all my life I have heard a lot about the Salish Tribe, but not the
Kootenai. I want to know why that is, and why if the Salish and Kootenai joined together on the
Flathead Reservation and created the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, why is the Kootenai
history ignored? The Kootenai Tribe historically inhabited Northwestern Montana, Northern Idaho,
Eastern Washington, and parts of Southern British Columbia. In this vast region, the indigenous
people were; hunters, gathers, and fisherman. The tribe is made up of six bands, and is usually spilt up
from there into the Lower and Upper Kootenai Tribe. The Upper Kootenai were traditionally forest
and mountain people who traveled to the prairies to hunt buffalo (Pritzker 263 264).The Lower
Kootenai were more tied to water, and primarily harvested fish. These Lower Kootenai bands
constructed a unique sturgeon nosed canoe, which is only found among this tribe, and in parts of Asia
(Kootenai Canoe). The Kootenai s lived a seminomadic lifestyle. They had permanent winter villages

Ad Analysis

becomes physically, emotionally, and mentally affected. It has been known to be a women s worse
nightmare. It s the infamous menstrual cycle. The only thing that makes this time manageable is a
good, reliable tampon. The Tampax Pearl ad persuades buyers to purchase their product through role
models, settings, and props. The ad context is directed towards the teenage female population. A high

I can relate to being a teenage girl. Fearing the worse, that someone will see evidence that my monthly
visitor has arrived. The text in the ad lures in females. When you look at the text you see some in a
soft pastel pink. The ad contains a package of tampons with a heart shape on the box. The heart gives
the feeling of sensitivity and is appealing to female emotions. All women can relate to the feeling of
menstrual cycles. Most women feel sluggish, and bloated with water weight. With the font being very
tall and stick like, it takes away the feeling of bloating and gives more of a tall and slender feel. The
words used in the ad are also very persuasive. When thinking of a menstrual cycle, the words that
come to my mind are dirty, bothersome, and bulky. The ad clearly changes my mind by using such
words as protection, clean, carefree, small and compact. The brand Tampax has been around for
several years. The fact that they have a product they now call Tampax Pearl is a clever way to
advertise, as many consumers relate pearl to the color white and the color white to cleanliness. In
order for Tampax to persuade consumers to buy their product they effectively used popular teenage
role models, genuine settings, props, and context that is clearly relatable to teenage girls. Good
advertising approaches like role models and relatability help consumers to make tough decisions when
picking one brand over another. With this ad

Emergency Medical Technician Essay Topics
I always wanted to work in the emergency medical service (EMS) field and study to become a
paramedic or an emergency medical technician (EMT). I enjoy helping others but this gives me an
opportunity to help people that are injured or ill by accident and I will have to provide medical
treatment immediately. I would have to have a high school diploma which I will receive while
attending Woodstock Job Corps and it will be needed before training to become an emergency medical
tech/ paramedic. There are three levels of training for those who want to work in this field, that is
EMT Basic, EMT Intermediate and Paramedic. The basic level of emergency medical technician
contains a patient assessment and emergency skills. The intermediate level consists of learning how to

When Cultures Collide
Management, and the ability to lead and cultivate a team of individuals who strive to meet targets,
work hard, and have loyalty to their company is an extremely difficult task by any standards. It

Differences Between Religion And Catholicism
1.0 Framing:
1.1 Hypothesis
It is hypothesised that although a number of differences, the similarities between Indigenous
Spirituality and Catholicism marriage rituals are due, primarily to the religions views regarding what
happens to the soul after the uniting of two different beings.
1.2 Purpose of the Rituals
The agreement between man and woman, also know as marriage, is a universal act seen throughout all
of humanity. Marriage allows for legal contract between spouses to be sealed and establish the rights
of each other. This ceremony dates back into Biblical times, and is shown right throughout the history
of both, Catholicism and Indigenous Spirituality.
From within Judaism, Catholicism originated. This was believed to have happened after the death and
resurrection of Jesus. As several of the beliefs and traditions were carried on from Judaism, it could be
assumed that Catholic and Jewish wedding ceremonies are very similar.
This ethnographic study will outline and examine the wedding ceremonies from within Catholicism
and Judaism, showing the similarities and differences between the two religions, having the main
focal point the origins and traditions of the two religions.
2.0 Investigating
This ethnographic study started by developing a hypothesis to be tested using primary and secondary
research. Research questions were instituted as a guide in the research process. The research questions
were then used in unity with the research notes, so it would accept a

Aspects Of Current Kikuyu Culture
Aspects of current Kikuyu culture were molded by modern demands impressed upon them by British
colonization. British colonists brought western ideas about living standards and health care, as well as
projecting British ideals of family life upon the Kikuyu people. In the 1950 s, as a reaction to this
imposition of western beliefs and practices upon the people of Kenya, the Mau Mau began to fight the
existing British infrastructure. This uprising was a final divide in the Kikuyu tribe based on the
members desire to either adapt to modern customs or continue to try to live with their old culture. In
many ways, British colonization continues to have a lasting and substantial cultural impact on the
Kikuyu today.
To comprehend the effect that British colonization had on the Kikuyu people, first we have to examine
the pre colonial Kikuyu society. The ancestors of the Kikuyu participated in the Bantu expansion, a
millennia long phenomenon during which Bantu speaking peoples migrated from Western Africa to
various regions in Southern and Eastern Africa (The Bantu Migrations). Prior to European
intervention, the structure of Kikuyu society was relatively egalitarian. The people of the Kikuyu did
not practice slavery, and made no attempts to garner prisoners from neighboring tribes or villages. The
political structure of the Kikuyu tribe was divided among nine separate clans. These clans were all
related along maternal lines, and oftentimes lived in very close proximity to one

The Unseen Death
The Unseen Death Thailand is an increasingly growing country, with about 60% of the population
involved in agriculture (Subhadrabandhu). In the past few decades it has been making its transition
from agricultural based to an industrialized economy has raised concerns to an environmental
degradation. The increasing level of pollution, particularly in the city area causing numerous problems
along the way in the past recent years. With level of life expectancy dropped, health defects and an
increasing number of mortality rates. The pollution includes air, water, and noise pollution. With
vehicle emissions and forest fire being among one of the most to cause air pollution. In 2012, a
legislation called First Time Car Buyer Tax Rebate Program has been launched. It has been critiqued
for being a huge part of an increasing traffic jams, stretched finances and most importantly the side
effect on publics health. The program was originally aimed for people who are using motorcycles to
switch to cars. Also to boost the automobile industries that has dropped since 2011 after the flood in
Thailand. With the boost of the industry, many automotive companies which already have their
facilities manufacture and assemble their cars in Thailand. This causes the level of emission and
industrial wastewater to rise. The increase number of cars and factories also mean the higher level of
noise pollution. Which in human not only causes annoyance, if being exposed for a long period of

Essay about ART HISTORY 102
Color VS. Drawing Which is more important color or drawing? These two have always been fought
over for centuries by Poussiniste and Rubenistes. Two great pieces of art that were created in the 1600
s are Peter Paul Rubens The Caledonian Boar Hunt and Nicolas Poussin s Landscape with Calm.
While Rubens argues that color is the most important part of the painting Poussin argues that the
drawing is more important. In the paragraphs below I will talk about the paintings each individually
and then compare them. The first painting I will be talking about is Rubens The Caledonian Boar
Hunt. This painting is a depiction of mythological event. The myth that is depicted in this painting is
when the goddess Diana sent a boar to punish King ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The painting shows man and nature in harmony. A clear sign that he focused mostly on drawing is the
geometric forms used in the painting. He used very calm tonality to give it the calmness. His artwork
and brushwork are very fluid and focused. This painting has no historical meaning because this
painting was after his transition from historical to landscape. Instead of telling a story it is supposed to
evoke a calm mood. The golden light contributes to its peacefulness. Now that I have explained both
paintings individually, in the following paragraph I will talk about their differences and what makes
them different. In this world there no two people who do something the exact same way. Poussin and
Rubens are no exception. In fact their almost complete opposites there are several things that make
them different. The first thing that makes the two paintings and artist differ is their believe of which
part of the painting is the most important , while Rubens believes that the color is more important
Poussin believes that the drawing is the more important part. The next subject that makes them
different is their brush work while Rubens has Energetic brushwork Poussin has fluid and calm
brushwork. The next difference is that while Rubens painting has a story and is about a myth Poussin
painting is just a simple landscape painting with no story. The final difference I saw was that while
Rubens painting was about a struggle

Formalism And Realism In Film
Short Critical Essay #3 Option 2 Classical film theories are generally divided into two main camps.
They have been categorized as Formalism and Realism. The formalist approach looks at the structure
and form of the film. It analyzes the method by which the story materializes and how it forces the
viewer to react based on the way it is presented. It incorporates character development, photographic
composition, camera movement, set design, editing, etc. to that end. The realist approach scrutinizes
how a film represents reality. It is a mechanical reproduction of reality that strives for objectivity and
realism. The primary focus is always every day, true to life characters and dilemmas, and the real life
situations they are found in. Commonplace themes are the rule. To achieve realism in cinema it was
necessary to direct attention to the physical and philosophic problems of ordinary existence. People
emerge as victims of forces beyond their control in a world at times seemingly spinning out of control.
Although there are also a few similarities, formalism and realism can be shown to offer substantially
different approaches to the art of filmmaking and the study of film. Realism is a style of filmmaking
that attempts to duplicate the look of objective reality with emphasis on authentic locations and
details, long shots, lengthy takes, and a minimum of distortion. Andre Bazin championed cinematic
realism. He identifies Realism as a movement of filmmakers who put their

Dirtbiking Essay
Dirtbiking
Imagine speeding through a construction site at 80 miles per hour. Not knowing what terrain is coming
up next. You could speed away and be OK or you could crash and burn. That s the adrenaline rush you
get when you ride a dirtbike. Dirtbiking is an exciting, adrenaline pumping sport. Dirtbiking is also a
sport enjoyed by many people all over the world. To get involved in dirtbiking you have to race in the
right age group. You also have to know what size dirtbike is right for you. Next, you need to know
what kind of race you want to participate in, depending on your interests. Last, some of the
modifications that have taken place over the years are also interesting.
First of all, if you plan on racing a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dirtbike sizes vary from a weak 50cc engine, to the mighty, powerful 600cc engine. There are also
many different brands of dirtbikes. Some of the main brands are Honda, Yamaha,
Kawasaki, Suzuki, and KTM, so you might want to do a little research on them before you buy one.
Of course, if you are not into going fast and jumping in the motocross races there are different kinds
of races. The first actual motocross race was held in the late 60s. One other kind of race is an enduro
race. In these races you have to go long distances and usually travel at night. Another race is a
blackwater race. In these races you need a big bike, at least 250cc. You go through rivers, thick
forests, and small obstacles like fallen logs. The last race is called trials. In these races you must have
balance. You go over many difficult obstacles like boulders and enormous logs. You cant put your feet
on the ground, also the bikes have no seat!
Lastly, dirtbiking is always changing. Imagine an old clunky looking dirtbike and compare it to a new,
fast dirtbike. Dirtbikes today are safer too.
For example, bikes now a days have rev limiters so the dirtbike doesn t blow up.
The older dirtbikes had small dual shocks in the back, steel frames, and were very heavy. Now a days
we have one big mono shock in the back, computer designed exhaust pipes, which give it more power,
now there are even aluminum frames.
Dirtbikes have sure come a long way over the

The Classic Era And The Classic And Romantic Eras
The first public music concerts took place in the early 1700s. Before public concerts became more
common, music was mostly performed for monarchs and aristocrats (Burkholder 466). As music
became readily available to the public, composers began writing in a style that was easily understood
by everyone. The period of music that began in 1720 is called the Classic Era. However, as the
political landscape of Europe changed, so did music. Conflicts across the continent forced many
composers to look for work as freelance artists, instead of writing for royal families (Burkholder 592).
Composers began trying to capture the attention of the public by writing pieces with memorable
melodies and strong emotions. By 1820, the Classic Era had transformed into the Romantic Era. The
Classic and Romantic Eras differ in musical style, the use of musical forms, and the design of musical
instruments. One of the main differences between the Classic and Romantic Eras is musical style. In
the Classic Era, composers drew inspiration from ancient Greece and Rome. According to Shannon
Baker Moore, Similar to the simple, classic lines of an ancient Greek temple, composers wanted music
that was balanced, beautiful, and orderly (52). Classic Era music also mirrored the beliefs of
philosophers like Voltaire and Rousseau, who valued logic and reason (Moore 52). A good example of
Classic Era music is Mozart s Piano Concerto No. 21, which is characterized by its light and charming
melodies. In

The Federal Reserve Act And The Central Bank Essay
The Fed
Alison Hedke
FA16.ECON201.142953.ONLINE 2ND 12WK
The Federal Reserve System is often referred to as the Fed. It serves as the nation s central bank and
arguably plays the most crucial role in the U.S. economy. It is the most important regulatory agency in
the U.S. monetary system and is usually considered the monetary authority. The Fed has several
responsibilities and performs several functions. There are a few theories documented that challenge
whether or not the Federal Reserve System exists the way it is defined.
The Fed was created by Congress to help promote a safe and sound monetary and financial system for
our nation. The Fed was established by the Federal Reserve Act, signed on December 13, 1913, by
President Woodrow Wilson. The Federal Reserve Act states in its opening paragraph An Act To
provide for the establishment of Federal reserve banks, to furnish an elastic currency, to afford means
of rediscounting commercial paper, to establish a more effective supervision of banking in the United
States, and for other purposes. There are seven members, known as the Federal Reserve Board of
Governors, in Washington D.C. They are appointed by the President and approved by the Senate. The
Fed also includes twelve regional Federal Reserve district banks located throughout the nation based
on economic consideration and trade regions that existed in 1913. The twelve Federal Reserve district
banks have twenty five branches. At the time, the Federal

Pros And Cons Of Tipping
Tipping, also called gratuity, is ingrained in American culture. The original meaning is said To Insure
Promptitude. The history of tipping began from England, but now it is essentially unnecessary in
England. After the Civil War, newly rich Americans visited Europe and knew genteel rules, tips.
However, as tipping became widespread in the U.S., people found tipping to be antithetical to
democracy and American ideals of equality. A New York Times editor grumbled, once tipping got to
hold in the United States, it spread rapidly like evil insects and weeds (). In the past, there also was an
action for abolishing to tip. The article of A Brief History of Tipping says, In 1904, the Anti Tipping
Society of America sprang up in Georgia, and its 100,000 members signed pledges not to tip anyone
for a year. In 1909, Washington became the first of six states to pass an anti tipping law. However, it
could not continue for a long term. The new laws rarely were enforced, and, by 1926, every anti
tipping law had been repealed. () So, the culture of tipping is still existing in many states in the U.S.
On the other hand, even if workers earn tips from customers, there are 43 states that have less than
established minimum wages for tipped employees by the federal government, and 19 of 43 states have
only $2.13 as the minimum wages.() The amount of tips is not stable every time. Some days may be
higher and other days may be lower. Does tipping really help them? Conventional wisdom claims that
tipping is an important part of the America. But I take a different view: I believe tipping should be
abolished because it is a repugnant custom. Now, tipping usually follows these rules: 10% if you were
unsatisfied, 15% if it was ok, 20% for excellent service, and 25% for outstanding service. However,
even if customers are not satisfied the service of servers, they tend to pay tips. According to Michael
Lynn, a professor at Cornell University s School of Hotel Administration, There are five basic motives
for tipping. Some people tip to show off. Some people tip to help the server, to supplement their
income and make them happy. Some people tip to get future service. And then other people tip to
avoid disapproval: You

Reflection About Autism
Throughout this unit, we have learnt about autism a common neurological disorder and how to format
and write an effective essay. Also, while reading the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the
Night Time and watching the film Rain Main, we learnt how two different autistic people present
themselves in different situations. Both stories taught me that those who have autism are equally as
capable to attain any goals they set. Also, throughout this unit we discussed key elements to include in
an effective essay, and how to format those components. Overall, in this unit, there were many new
topics learnt, that can benefit me in future years. To begin with, throughout this entire unit, our central
topic was autism. We gained new knowledge on autism in many ways. As a class, we read a novel The
Curios Incident of the Dog in the Night Time which follows the journey of an autistic boy;
Christopher. Along the way, I learnt many new things about autism that I was not aware of prior to
reading the novel. I learnt that every autistic person is different from another; all autistic people are
not the same and each reacts to differently in different situations. To add on, I also learnt that there is a
spectrum of autism, everyone is placed differently on the spectrum, which shows how they re able to
communicate themselves, or present themselves to the people around them. To add on, I learnt that
autistic people understand concepts differently as their brains are different than a

The Pros And Cons Of Being Against Open Marriage
Reasons why everyone should be against open marriage is because you married the person that you
wanted to love and spend the rest of your life with. You are breaking the marital vows. When marrying
someone you are making a commitment to be loyal. According to J.B. Chachila, What we commit to
be not just to take on that person, to uphold that person s dream, and to meet that person s needs. We
actually commit to becoming one that person. When people have a open marriage is when one
companion breaks the pre established rules of marriage. Open marriages show that your love and
commitment should be questioned because why marry someone when all they want to do is go out and
do things with other people while married. If two people are perfect for each other than they shouldn t
be in an open marriage because they are together because they are supposedly perfect for each other. If
you aren t happy with the person you are currently married to then what was the point of marrying
them in the first place. Before you are officially you say special marital vows to each other to promise
that you be there for better or for worse, in sickness and in health. According to Romans 7:3,
Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive.
But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an
adulteress. The reason everyone says vows is because they are supposed to show a public

Reflection Paper On Reflection
My Reflection
Rheann Ridley
Colorado Christian University
My Reflection August 28, 2017, the first day of my fresh and scary journey. My first day as a
Colorado Christian University student, English composition online is my first class. Part of me is
ready; part of me is ready to throw in the towel. I hadn t even had a chance to turn a paper in, and the
first assignment, a 5 paragraph essay had me thinking you re a crazy person for going back to school,
it s been 11 years since you had to write a paper. What are you thinking? I told myself its 5 weeks
(later I would realize actually 6) you can make it 5 weeks! Although I knew writing wouldn t be my
easiest subject, I knew I had to try my hardest. This class was condensed and hard, but effective and
informative; I ve learned so much, felt all sorts of emotions and know I can apply what I ve learned in
classes to come. When I reflect back on this class, I m grateful for what I ve learned. I can t imagine
starting the online college experience with a different class. I imagine what that would have been like,
and I can t help but think, it would have been rough and I wouldn t have some of the basic resources
needed. APA formatting, I didn t have the slightest idea what that meant. Learning the basics on APA
will ensure I have a great skill moving forward to write my papers during college. Citing properly,
although I m still working on this, I would have been even further behind. If I didn t have this as my

Theme Of Folly In Romance Of The Rose
In the French poem, the Romance of the Rose, Lady Reason states Happy is the man who learns from
his folly, (De Lorris and De Meun, 46). Lady Reason s statement is true for the Lover in the Romance
of the Rose. Folly are the mistakes caused by one s foolishness; in this case, the Lover s folly is his
impatience with the rose. Happiness is when a man succeeds in attaining his desire; in which the
Lover does so by obtaining the rose in a chivalry manner. Therefore, through chivalry, courtesy, and
love, the Lover was able to be happy by learning from his folly. Moreover, this is significant because
this shows the audience, specifically men, on how to love and how to display courtly behavior. The
Lover s folly, or mistakes caused by his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The God of Love instructs the Lover to keep yourself from pride, for he who has understanding and
discernment knows that pride is foolish and sinful, therefore, the God of Love is suggesting that pride
is a man s folly (34). Furthermore, he is teaching the Lover to also be generous and light hearted. He
also advices the Lover to not paint your face or wear make up, because by doing so, he will be
unmanly (33). Thus, this shows that by learning from his folly or his act of impatience, the Lover was
able to achieve happiness in the end because he learned proper chivalry. The teaching of chivalry in
the Romance of the Rose is significant because it is as if the God of Love, or better yet the narrators,
are teaching men on how to display chivalry behavior, which is important in a new courtly world.
Thus, this also displayed that chivalry can now be learned. Another quality that the Lover learns from
his folly, in order to attain happiness, is courtesy, or the inside behavior between men and women.
Along with chivalry, the Lover also learns ways to be courteous. As his teacher, the God of Love tells
the Lover be courteous and approachable, speaking gently and reasonably to high and low alike, (32).
This shows that the God of Love is not only teaching the Lover to have chivalry, but also courtesy. By
having courtesy, towards the woman, he will be able to achieve happiness, which is when he

Micronutrients During Pregnancy
Micronutrients are essential during pregnancy. There are two groups of micronutrients: vitamins and
minerals. Vitamins are organic while minerals are inorganic. However, both of them cannot be
synthesized by the body and must be obtained from the diet in trace amount. Iron, folate and vitamin
B12 are three of the micronutrients that are required to be increased in pregnant women for normal
embryonic development to occur. When these recommendations are not met, deficiencies can develop
in mother and lead to adverse pregnancy outcomes in the infant. Iron is complex. There are two major
forms of iron that an individual can ingest: heme and non heme. Heme iron is in the most easily
absorbed form. It can be found in meat, fish, and poultry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a coenzyme that participates in DNA synthesis and methylation, energy production and normal
folate metabolism. The recommended dietary allowance for pregnant women increase to 2.6 ug/day
and it can be found in meat, dairy products, supplements and some fortified foods. Vitamin B12
deficiency is often associated with adverse pregnancy outcome such as preeclampsia, due to
malabsorption. Normally, vitamin B12 is absorbed by allowing the attachment of Vitamin B12 to R
proteins to form the R B12 complex with pepsin, transporting the complex into the small intestine
with the release of intrinsic factor from the parietal cell, splitting Vitamin B 12 from it s protein
binding site to bind to intrinsic factor with protease, and attaching it to the enterocytes in the ileum to
get internalized by endocytosis. The recommended dietary allowance during pregnancy is 2.6

African American Women And The Collective Psyche Of...
African American women have been purposefully written out of visual history with the exception of
scripted roles that have been predetermined by stereotypical scripts that are imbedded in the collective
psyche of American audiences beginning in the 1890s. Dorothy Dandridge was a sensational
performer that commanded attention and left her audiences awestruck on screen and in life. At the age
of eleven, I recall sitting in front of the television for a special televised movie, called Introducing
Dorothy Dandridge. The film opens with a somber score and voiceover of Dorothy (Halle Berry)
asking the audience, Have you ever caught sight of yourself by accident... And, you see yourself from
the outside... That s who you really are... That question captured my wondering eleven year old mind
and immediately pulled me into the world of a woman who was familiar to me. She was familiar in
her storytelling and questioning even before an image broke the continuity of credits on flashing on
the screen. My mother has always loved mirrors. In one room there would be at least two mirrors
suspended on the walls. I have caught many glimpses of myself over the years, so I knew exactly what
she meant in asking the question. It s a question that continues to be answered by Hollywood of black
women, but without their input or consent. The question is why? On November 9, 1922 in Cleveland,
Ohio a star was born, Ms. Dorothy Dandridge. Ms. Dandridge s manager and close friend, Earl Mills

Parenting Styles
Parenting styles, Psychologist Diana Baumrid (1991,2005) stated that during the first few years of life
that s when a child learn the basis of life and that stays with them through adulthood.
I grew up with Authoritarian parent/grandparent along with two other sibling, where it was her way or
the high way, my grandma would lay down her rules, and if it wasn t followed there would be a
punishment that follows and punishment last for more than a day in most cases. I believe was no love,
no warmth, no explanation for what they did and say. We even got punished for this that we didn t do,
it was rigid growing up. I think this kind of parenting was abusive and definitely Authoritarian.so you

That other large percentage is possible to get to but companies like google, bing, and yahoo haven t cracked the code on how to do it but at the same time choose not to incorporate that large percentage because they think it s too risky to do so. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now how sites become deep web material is anything from: requiring a password to getting in ,or encrypted ,or the website is trying not to be found. Thats where programs like Tor come along or otherwise known as the onion router because the process Tor uses is known as onion routing. Onion routing is the idea that if someone wants to access a website they go from point A to B like on the regular internet but since onion routing/Tor is built on anonymity they get from point A to B by adding more points so on onion routing the user would go from point A to B to C to D to E to F or however many it takes. How they do this is when a user sends a signal that they want to go to a website then that signal will be encrypted and sent to a node or just another computer. When the signal gets to that node a layer of the encryption will be solved and then sent to another node and the same thing will happen till the signal reaches it s final destination. This process means that search times are a little longer then normal but it is to insure that the user stays as undetectable as possible. Now Tor s system is designed in a way that anyone can be a node if they wanted too, all that means is that traffic will go through the users pc (Tor 2005). The Deep Web gets a lot of bad reputation due to what resides in the depths. Because the Deep Web is so difficult to navigate, it leads to many illegal things being stored ... He portrays different types of power and uses different methods to show us the power relationship through the four characters. Steinbeck presents differing power through three main methods. Not only this but Curley s Wife gives us an impression of what she thinks of the other characters in the Section as she calls them a bunch of bindle stiffs a nigger an a dum dum and a lousy ol sheep. Steinbeck immediately portrays the difference of power between them through Curley s Wife thoughts. When Lennie, Candy and Crooks were all together before Curley s Wife entered, they were in the middle of talking about George and Lennies American Dream. Crooks entered a dreamy state: he forget about The Great Depression and forgot about hi skin colour and his status. After Candy had a go at Curley s Wife and told her to leave, Crooks said that Maybe you better go along to your own house. Curley s Wife ignored his comment. This shows us that she thinks that she is superior to him and that he cant boss her around. Steinbeck again subtly indicates this without direct speech. This has lead to scientists to isolate certain genes that may cause a certain disease, thus modified genes may change the organism in a particular way. It may help farmers with crop cultivation and reduce crop infestation. It may also help farmers to be able to cultivated crops or keep animals that are prawn to drought resistance. Before, I go in details explain the importance of why businesses that develop modified organisms should be able to preserve their property rights by patenting such organisms or why such organism should not be patentable. I would like to briefly explain the history of patenting. For over two hundred years living organisms have been excluded from patent laws; life forms were considered a product of nature and not a human invention. The non patentable status of living organisms changed with the 1980 landmark Supreme Court case Diamond v. Chakrabarty, (W3 Unisa, 2005). The court decided in a narrow 5 4 decision that a strain of bacteria that had been modified by the insertion of new genes was patentable because it was not naturally occurring. The foreign genes gave the bacteria the ability to break down hydrocarbons, and its inventors hoped it might be useful for cleaning up oil spills. Historically, patents were initially developed to insure and protect inventors and to make sure that they could benefit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Detecting Heart Blockage in a Patient These chambers are separated by valves to prevent back flow of blood (into the atria). Between the right atrium and the right ventricle is the tricuspid valve and between the left atrium and the left ventricle is the bicuspid valve. Separating the left ventricle and the aorta is the aortic valve and the pulmonic valve is found between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery. The ability of the heart to contract stems from its possession of the SA node (Sino atrial node) also called the pacemaker as it generates the hearts own electrical signal and allows it to contract and pump blood to the rest of the body. This gives the heart a special feature making it the only organ that is capable of working outside the body if provided with enough oxygen. The electrical system controls the rhythm of the heart and the heart rate. A problem with the hearts electrical system affecting the transfer of signals from the SA node to the AV node and then the ventricles leads to what is called a heart block. A disruption in the electrical rhythm from the SA node is regarded as an SA node block while disruptions below the AV node are classified under the AV block which is then further divided into sub groups depending on the level disruption. In some cases, people are born with this condition and are said to have congenital heart block whereas those that get it through e.g. open heart surgery are said to have acquired heart block. Heart block can be classified as an arrhythmia which is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this vast region, the indigenous people were; hunters, gathers, and fisherman. The tribe is made up of six bands, and is usually spilt up from there into the Lower and Upper Kootenai Tribe. • 20. Aspects Of Current Kikuyu Culture Aspects of current Kikuyu culture were molded by modern demands impressed upon them by British colonization. British colonists brought western ideas about living standards and health care, as well as projecting British ideals of family life upon the Kikuyu people. In the 1950 s, as a reaction to this imposition of western beliefs and practices upon the people of Kenya, the Mau Mau began to fight the existing British infrastructure. This uprising was a final divide in the Kikuyu tribe based on the members desire to either adapt to modern customs or continue to try to live with their old culture. In many ways, British colonization continues to have a lasting and substantial cultural impact on the Kikuyu today. To comprehend the effect that British colonization had on the Kikuyu people, first we have to examine the pre colonial Kikuyu society. The ancestors of the Kikuyu participated in the Bantu expansion, a millennia long phenomenon during which Bantu speaking peoples migrated from Western Africa to various regions in Southern and Eastern Africa (The Bantu Migrations). Prior to European intervention, the structure of Kikuyu society was relatively egalitarian. The people of the Kikuyu did not practice slavery, and made no attempts to garner prisoners from neighboring tribes or villages. • 23. Formalism And Realism In Film Short Critical Essay #3 Option 2 Classical film theories are generally divided into two main camps. They have been categorized as Formalism and Realism. The formalist approach looks at the structure and form of the film. It analyzes the method by which the story materializes and how it forces the viewer to react based on the way it is presented. It incorporates character development, photographic composition, camera movement, set design, editing, etc. to that end. The realist approach scrutinizes how a film represents reality. It is a mechanical reproduction of reality that strives for objectivity and realism. The primary focus is always every day, true to life characters and dilemmas, and the real life situations they are found in. Commonplace themes are the rule. To achieve realism in cinema it was necessary to direct attention to the physical and philosophic problems of ordinary existence. People emerge as victims of forces beyond their control in a world at times seemingly spinning out of control. Although there are also a few similarities, formalism and realism can be shown to offer substantially different approaches to the art of filmmaking and the study of film. Realism is a style of filmmaking that attempts to duplicate the look of objective reality with emphasis on authentic locations and details, long shots, lengthy takes, and a minimum of distortion. Now a days we have one big mono shock in the back, computer designed exhaust pipes, which give it more power, now there are even aluminum frames. Dirtbikes have sure come a long way over the ... • 25. The Classic Era And The Classic And Romantic Eras The first public music concerts took place in the early 1700s. Before public concerts became more common, music was mostly performed for monarchs and aristocrats (Burkholder 466). As music became readily available to the public, composers began writing in a style that was easily understood by everyone. The period of music that began in 1720 is called the Classic Era. However, as the political landscape of Europe changed, so did music. Conflicts across the continent forced many composers to look for work as freelance artists, instead of writing for royal families (Burkholder 592). Composers began trying to capture the attention of the public by writing pieces with memorable melodies and strong emotions. By 1820, the Classic Era had transformed into the Romantic Era. The Classic and Romantic Eras differ in musical style, the use of musical forms, and the design of musical instruments. One of the main differences between the Classic and Romantic Eras is musical style. In the Classic Era, composers drew inspiration from ancient Greece and Rome. According to Shannon Baker Moore, Similar to the simple, classic lines of an ancient Greek temple, composers wanted music that was balanced, beautiful, and orderly (52). Classic Era music also mirrored the beliefs of philosophers like Voltaire and Rousseau, who valued logic and reason (Moore 52). A good example of Classic Era music is Mozart s Piano Concerto No. 21, which is characterized by its light and charming melodies. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. The Federal Reserve Act And The Central Bank Essay The Fed Alison Hedke FA16.ECON201.142953.ONLINE 2ND 12WK The Federal Reserve System is often referred to as the Fed. It serves as the nation s central bank and arguably plays the most crucial role in the U.S. economy. It is the most important regulatory agency in the U.S. monetary system and is usually considered the monetary authority. The Fed has several responsibilities and performs several functions. There are a few theories documented that challenge whether or not the Federal Reserve System exists the way it is defined. The Fed was created by Congress to help promote a safe and sound monetary and financial system for our nation. The Fed was established by the Federal Reserve Act, signed on December 13, 1913, by President Woodrow Wilson. The Federal Reserve Act states in its opening paragraph An Act To provide for the establishment of Federal reserve banks, to furnish an elastic currency, to afford means of rediscounting commercial paper, to establish a more effective supervision of banking in the United States, and for other purposes. There are seven members, known as the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, in Washington D.C. They are appointed by the President and approved by the Senate. The Fed also includes twelve regional Federal Reserve district banks located throughout the nation based on economic consideration and trade regions that existed in 1913. The twelve Federal Reserve district banks have twenty five branches. At the time, the Federal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Pros And Cons Of Tipping Tipping, also called gratuity, is ingrained in American culture. The original meaning is said To Insure Promptitude. The history of tipping began from England, but now it is essentially unnecessary in England. After the Civil War, newly rich Americans visited Europe and knew genteel rules, tips. However, as tipping became widespread in the U.S., people found tipping to be antithetical to democracy and American ideals of equality. A New York Times editor grumbled, once tipping got to hold in the United States, it spread rapidly like evil insects and weeds (). In the past, there also was an action for abolishing to tip. The article of A Brief History of Tipping says, In 1904, the Anti Tipping Society of America sprang up in Georgia, and its 100,000 members signed pledges not to tip anyone for a year. In 1909, Washington became the first of six states to pass an anti tipping law. However, it could not continue for a long term. The new laws rarely were enforced, and, by 1926, every anti tipping law had been repealed. () So, the culture of tipping is still existing in many states in the U.S. On the other hand, even if workers earn tips from customers, there are 43 states that have less than established minimum wages for tipped employees by the federal government, and 19 of 43 states have only $2.13 as the minimum wages.() The amount of tips is not stable every time. Some days may be higher and other days may be lower. Does tipping really help them? Conventional wisdom claims that tipping is an important part of the America. But I take a different view: I believe tipping should be abolished because it is a repugnant custom. Now, tipping usually follows these rules: 10% if you were unsatisfied, 15% if it was ok, 20% for excellent service, and 25% for outstanding service. However, even if customers are not satisfied the service of servers, they tend to pay tips. According to Michael Lynn, a professor at Cornell University s School of Hotel Administration, There are five basic motives for tipping. Some people tip to show off. Some people tip to help the server, to supplement their income and make them happy. Some people tip to get future service. And then other people tip to avoid disapproval: You ... • 28. Reflection About Autism Throughout this unit, we have learnt about autism a common neurological disorder and how to format and write an effective essay. Also, while reading the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time and watching the film Rain Main, we learnt how two different autistic people present themselves in different situations. Both stories taught me that those who have autism are equally as capable to attain any goals they set. Also, throughout this unit we discussed key elements to include in an effective essay, and how to format those components. Overall, in this unit, there were many new topics learnt, that can benefit me in future years. To begin with, throughout this entire unit, our central topic was autism. We gained new knowledge on autism in many ways. As a class, we read a novel The Curios Incident of the Dog in the Night Time which follows the journey of an autistic boy; Christopher. Along the way, I learnt many new things about autism that I was not aware of prior to reading the novel. I learnt that every autistic person is different from another; all autistic people are not the same and each reacts to differently in different situations. To add on, I also learnt that there is a spectrum of autism, everyone is placed differently on the spectrum, which shows how they re able to communicate themselves, or present themselves to the people around them. To add on, I learnt that autistic people understand concepts differently as their brains are different than a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The Pros And Cons Of Being Against Open Marriage Reasons why everyone should be against open marriage is because you married the person that you wanted to love and spend the rest of your life with. You are breaking the marital vows. When marrying someone you are making a commitment to be loyal. According to J.B. Chachila, What we commit to be not just to take on that person, to uphold that person s dream, and to meet that person s needs. We actually commit to becoming one that person. When people have a open marriage is when one companion breaks the pre established rules of marriage. Open marriages show that your love and commitment should be questioned because why marry someone when all they want to do is go out and do things with other people while married. If two people are perfect for each other than they shouldn t be in an open marriage because they are together because they are supposedly perfect for each other. If you aren t happy with the person you are currently married to then what was the point of marrying them in the first place. Before you are officially you say special marital vows to each other to promise that you be there for better or for worse, in sickness and in health. According to Romans 7:3, Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress. The reason everyone says vows is because they are supposed to show a public proclamation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Reflection Paper On Reflection My Reflection Rheann Ridley Colorado Christian University My Reflection August 28, 2017, the first day of my fresh and scary journey. My first day as a Colorado Christian University student, English composition online is my first class. Part of me is ready; part of me is ready to throw in the towel. I hadn t even had a chance to turn a paper in, and the first assignment, a 5 paragraph essay had me thinking you re a crazy person for going back to school, it s been 11 years since you had to write a paper. What are you thinking? I told myself its 5 weeks (later I would realize actually 6) you can make it 5 weeks! Although I knew writing wouldn t be my easiest subject, I knew I had to try my hardest. This class was condensed and hard, but effective and informative; I ve learned so much, felt all sorts of emotions and know I can apply what I ve learned in classes to come. When I reflect back on this class, I m grateful for what I ve learned. I can t imagine starting the online college experience with a different class. I imagine what that would have been like, and I can t help but think, it would have been rough and I wouldn t have some of the basic resources needed. APA formatting, I didn t have the slightest idea what that meant. Learning the basics on APA will ensure I have a great skill moving forward to write my papers during college. Citing properly, although I m still working on this, I would have been even further behind. If I didn t have this as my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Theme Of Folly In Romance Of The Rose In the French poem, the Romance of the Rose, Lady Reason states Happy is the man who learns from his folly, (De Lorris and De Meun, 46). Lady Reason s statement is true for the Lover in the Romance of the Rose. Folly are the mistakes caused by one s foolishness; in this case, the Lover s folly is his impatience with the rose. Happiness is when a man succeeds in attaining his desire; in which the Lover does so by obtaining the rose in a chivalry manner. Therefore, through chivalry, courtesy, and love, the Lover was able to be happy by learning from his folly. Moreover, this is significant because this shows the audience, specifically men, on how to love and how to display courtly behavior. The Lover s folly, or mistakes caused by his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The God of Love instructs the Lover to keep yourself from pride, for he who has understanding and discernment knows that pride is foolish and sinful, therefore, the God of Love is suggesting that pride is a man s folly (34). Furthermore, he is teaching the Lover to also be generous and light hearted. He also advices the Lover to not paint your face or wear make up, because by doing so, he will be unmanly (33). Thus, this shows that by learning from his folly or his act of impatience, the Lover was able to achieve happiness in the end because he learned proper chivalry. The teaching of chivalry in the Romance of the Rose is significant because it is as if the God of Love, or better yet the narrators, are teaching men on how to display chivalry behavior, which is important in a new courtly world. Thus, this also displayed that chivalry can now be learned. Another quality that the Lover learns from his folly, in order to attain happiness, is courtesy, or the inside behavior between men and women. Along with chivalry, the Lover also learns ways to be courteous. As his teacher, the God of Love tells the Lover be courteous and approachable, speaking gently and reasonably to high and low alike, (32). This shows that the God of Love is not only teaching the Lover to have chivalry, but also courtesy. By having courtesy, towards the woman, he will be able to achieve happiness, which is when he ... • 32. Micronutrients During Pregnancy Micronutrients are essential during pregnancy. There are two groups of micronutrients: vitamins and minerals. Vitamins are organic while minerals are inorganic. However, both of them cannot be synthesized by the body and must be obtained from the diet in trace amount. Iron, folate and vitamin B12 are three of the micronutrients that are required to be increased in pregnant women for normal embryonic development to occur. When these recommendations are not met, deficiencies can develop in mother and lead to adverse pregnancy outcomes in the infant. Iron is complex. • 33. African American Women And The Collective Psyche Of... African American women have been purposefully written out of visual history with the exception of scripted roles that have been predetermined by stereotypical scripts that are imbedded in the collective psyche of American audiences beginning in the 1890s. Dorothy Dandridge was a sensational performer that commanded attention and left her audiences awestruck on screen and in life. At the age of eleven, I recall sitting in front of the television for a special televised movie, called Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. The film opens with a somber score and voiceover of Dorothy (Halle Berry) asking the audience, Have you ever caught sight of yourself by accident... And, you see yourself from the outside... That s who you really are... That question captured my wondering eleven year old mind and immediately pulled me into the world of a woman who was familiar to me. She was familiar in her storytelling and questioning even before an image broke the continuity of credits on flashing on the screen. My mother has always loved mirrors. In one room there would be at least two mirrors suspended on the walls. I have caught many glimpses of myself over the years, so I knew exactly what she meant in asking the question. It s a question that continues to be answered by Hollywood of black women, but without their input or consent. The question is why? On November 9, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio a star was born, Ms. Dorothy Dandridge. Ms. Dandridge s manager and close friend, Earl Mills recounts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
