Family Group Community Analysis
In today s circle we first meditated which I desperately needed because I was so excited that I
had finally gotten my license. The circle today went extremely well I thought Catie and Rahsaan
did great. I liked the check in question. It was ironic because my friend had asked me the same
question two hours before class. Their circle helped me clarify the reading a bit more. I know that
family group conference focused on face to face encounter involving offenders and their families,
the victims and their supporters, a police representative, and etc.... Most of us during the circle had
the same answers to the questions. Mainly because the information we were giving out was mostly
likely from the readings and personal experience. The circle was also melancholy... Show more

I was surprised to hear such things. It left me with messages. I am still thinking how anybody
could keep sane after those experience. Furthermore, I liked their idea about using stickys on the
picture frame. I wanted to write more than my mom. There s one other person who I would have
liked to include and that would have been the Captain Rief from the Upper Darby Police
Department. He is one of the major reason why I am going for a degree in criminal justice.
Moreover, during the reading I was thinking aren t family group conferences already included in the
public school system. But it is more focused on the punishment. If it were more focused on the
consequence and the healing these conference would have most likely prevent recidivism. I like
the line on page 260 where it says Involving community groups as part of the overall Conference
process gives them an opportunity to work a cooperative way that will enhance their effectiveness,
avoid duplication of services, and enable them to provide a no gap service... . It made me think of

Primary vs. Secondary Research Essay
Primary vs. Secondary Research When conducting research, when is it conducive to use primary
research over secondary research and vice versa? Both research techniques are viable and
beneficial. They each have purpose and can be used as a marketing research template when
conducting research. Both techniques are equipped with tools that can be used to guide a
researcher through the researchprocess. If these tools are properly adhered to, the research process
can be seamless and quite effective. Moreover, market research can assist a researcher in making
accurate decisions and improve the chance of success. This paper will explain the difference
among research tools used in primary and secondary research. It will also depict the... Show more

Surveys (segregated technique designed to test perceptions regarding a product or service) depict
quantitative data that will help in the developmental stage of a product or service. This tool is
most often used regarding sensitive data. It is relatively inexpensive. Observation is primarily
used at the point of sale of a product or service. This tool depicts emotional reactions to products or
services.
Secondary Research Tools
Secondary marketing research is based on information previously gathered by an individual, the
government, and other agencies. Secondary sources are those sources of information that have
been collected previously by other individuals or organizations. Secondary sources of
information can help you to identify other sources of information, it can help you to get an
overall picture of your market or it may provide more detailed information on a specific segment
of the market (Karen Paiyo). There are also various research tools used when conducting
secondary research. Secondary research can be acquired from previous reports, public sources,
newspapers, magazines, commercials, educational sources, and websites. Secondary research is
often easy to find and generally free. It is much more inexpensive than primary research. An
example of secondary research is a general manager, of a professional baseball team, gathering a
summation of statistical information (of a player whose contract is expiring) from previous

Pneumoniae Research Paper

Period 7
Drug Resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae
Drug Resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae
The war against bacteria and their ability to evolve at a much faster rate than humans can create
antibiotics (a medicine that hinders and disrupts bacterial growth and or destroys it) to fight against
them has the human race at a disadvantage. With more and more bacteria being found to have
strains of drug resistant chains is creating a health crisis around the world as global health officials
try to find a way to protect their populations against this up and coming threat, and the issues it
poses for the future of medicine and treatment of infections. Due to increased use of antibiotics in
unneeded situations, bacteria are having more chances to let mutations that are immune to
antibiotics be spread through other bacteria. This is causing more cases of antibiotic resistant
bacteria and increasing the number of them. Drug resistance results in higher costs due to longer
hospital pays and more expensive antibiotics, need for supervision, patient education, and new drug
developments. Drug resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae, or more commonly known as DRSP is
found in nearly every corner of the world but are more common in places that are less developed
and therefore have a less access to a pneumococcal conjugate ... Show more content on

This exacerbates the growth and movement of drug resistant S. pneumoniae and their
transformations as such. This poses an issue as the number of DRSP can soon outnumber the non

Antonio Vivaldi Contributions
The Renaissance was a period in European history, from the 14th to the 16th century, regarded as
the cultural bridge between the Middle Ages and modern history, but this period of time was
eventually overtaken by the Baroque. While the Renaissance brought back the beauty and grace of
the Greeks, the Baroque revived the dramatic and affections, or feelings, within musicthat stirred
the soul. Unlike the previous period, the Baroque focused on the performance and work itself than
the actual composer. The great giants of this time include Monteverdi, Bach, and Handel. They all
contributed to the Baroque in various ways, either through operas or conciertos, and everything in
between. However, an equally important composer is Antonio Vivaldi. His works spans an array of
musical genres and the volume of music he produced make him a significant player in this period.
On March 4th, 1678, Antonio Vivaldi, the most original and influential Italian composer of his
generation , was born in Venice, Italy (Whole Notes: Stories Behind the Classics: Antonio
Vivaldi). Born a sickly child, he was baptized almost immediately because the midwife thought his
life was in danger since he was born the day of an earthquake (Sadie, Stanley, and John Tyrrell,
2001). In reality, Vivaldi had stretezza de prieto or asthma, and this condition would affect him for
the rest of his life, limiting the types of instruments he could comfortably and masterfully play
(Sadie, Stanley, and John Tyrrell, 2001).

The Birmingham 1963 Campaign
Birmingham 1963
1.How important was the press to the success of the Birmingham campaign?
The media played a huge part in the success of the Birmingham campaign in 1963. For the first
time the press lent a sympathetic view of the events as they occurred that day. Previous civil rights
protest in Alabama had been unsuccessful. However, on May 3, 1963 this would all change. The
media help was able to show the world the atrocities and racial hatred and intolerance that still
existed in the South.
2.Why did the public react so strongly to these photos?
The public was able to witness for the first time the violence and police brutality used against many
civil rights activist. The majority of the civil rights demonstrators in Alabama that day were high
school students. The pictures of these children being attacked by dogs and sprayed with water
from high powered fire hoses were very disturbing and shocking to most viewers. It gave a more
accurate and sympathetic account; one that the public hadn t seen before,
4. What aspects of these images by Life photographer Charles Moore transformed American
sensibilities regarding civil rights? How did people like Birmingham police chief Bull Connor and
organizations like the Ku Klux Klan participate in changing the hearts and minds of many
American s, if not the right to sit together on a bus?

occurred on May 14, 1961 in Alabama was able to

Drinking In College Essay
The graduating Class of 2015 quickly learned that college really is the best time of our livesНѕ but
with great power, comes great responsibility. Drinking at a frat party sounds like a lot of fun until
you wake up at 6 in the morning at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. While many students drink, not
many know the health and personal risks that come making the decision to consume alcohol.
According to the Science Inside Alcohol Project, a study funded by the National Institute on
Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, people who consume too much alcohol pass out when the large
amount of alcohol overwhelms the Reticular Activating System. This is the system that decides
when one is conscious or not. Because alcohol is a depressant, it depresses the central nervous
system. Passing out is the body s attempt to preserve its energy to keep performing the basic bodily
functions that keep people alive, such as maintaining heartbeat and breathing.
Psychological effects of excessive alcohol consumption include greater likelihood of committing
suicide and contracting hepatic encephalopathy. Hepatic encephalopathy is a worsening of brain
function that occurs when the liver is no longer able to remove toxic substances in the blood
(Tracy, 2012). If this occurs, one could experience differences in personality, overall mood, issues
with coordination, and decrease in function of longterm memory and attentions spans. Other
psychological effects of excessive alcohol exposure may include panic

Most Canadian adventures will inevitably take you through bear country. Knowing how to avoid a
bear attack is the best way to keep safe in the great outdoors.
There s different advice to follow when dealing with the three types of bears in Canada (black,
grizzly polar bear) but most people quickly forget them when they actually encounter a bear in the
back country.
The two general rules that have kept me safe in the Canadian Rockies for the past 20 years are:
1.Use common sense and always give notice of your location Make noise every 100 meters or so
and especially when rounding a corner or coming up to thick bush. Black grizzly bears avoid human
contact and alerting them before a human intrusion gives them enough time to retreat, most ... Show

Use common sense and don t attract bears. Black, grizzly and polar bears have excellent sense of
smell and can sniff out food from over a kilometer away. Don t attract bears to you with tempting
smells.
I am not a bear expert, ecologist or even an adventure guide. I m just a regular weekend warrior
who loves to discover Canada and have seen all three types of bears in their natural territory. Bears
can be found across all of Canada except for the southern prairies, southern Ontario Prince Edward
Island.
The two rules mentioned above are what I use all the time when hiking, camping boating (yes,
bears can swim). Giving these intelligent creatures the room and respect that they deserve has
prevented me from getting into a bear attack. However, if such an unfortunate escalation happens,
knowing how to survive a bear attack is vital knowledge in the back country.
Black Bears are the smallest of the bears in Canada and are more scavengers than hunters. They are
opportunistic when it comes to food (and garbage). They lack the massive shoulder hump of muscle
that characterizes the grizzly Bear.
Black bears in Canada can be black, brown or white ish in colour. They are not endangered and
estimated put their numbers at around 600,000 in North America. The white Spirit bear, or
Kermode bear, is actually a black bear and can not mate with the grizzly or polar

The investigation and the goal of this research project is to answer the question; what role did
civil wars play in the deterioration and eventual death of the Roman Republic? It is relevant
because it shows the transition of government. The issues that are going to be addressed highlight
the political unrest in the Roman Republic and the corruption of different leaders that were one
in many reasons why the Republic became an Empire. This research will focus on the time period
of 100 to 25 BC and the places investigated will include Rome and the areas they conquered. This
will be studied and accomplished through an examination of Julius Cesar s reign and the civil wars

The limitations, this book was published in 1966. New studies have found more research on these
early time periods which affects the accuracy and validity of this current generation while reading
and extracting information from the book. Other limitations included vague amounts of research on
certain battles that Julius Caesar led, in surrounding areas of the Republic. This lack of information
makes it difficult for the reader to gain good understanding of Julius Caesar s whereabouts before
his conflict with political leaders in Rome.
The second secondary source, reveals the personal life, conquests, fails, and facts of Julius
Caesar, the eventual dictator of the Roman Republic. The origin of this text is San Diego,
California, by Don Nardo in 1999. The purpose of this text is to educate the reader and the
audience about Julius Caesar, the ruthless and cunning leader that shaped the Roman Republic
forever. The value of the source is that reveals many unknown pieces of information about Julius
Caesar and really highlights his influence on the transition of government. Without Julius Caesar,
there may have never been such internal conflict in the republic. The Senate wouldn t have fled to
the rest of Italy, politicians like Pompey never would have been defeated, and there would have
been time before a leader declared themselves as a dictator. The book is very useful because it
presents unbiased and clear information about Julius

How Does Norse Mythology Influence Viking Culture
1.1 Background
Vikings came from Scandinavia (Sweden, Denmark and Norway.) The Viking age was between
793 AD to 1066 AD. They vikings were Norse seafarers who spoke the Old Norse language and
who raided and traded throughout Scandinavia and across wide areas of northern and central
Europe. The vikings lived a very different life compared to England during this time. The vikings
believed in norse mythology or commonly known as paganism. They worshipped many gods.
The old stories they told about gods, giants and monsters are known as Norse myths. Norse
mythologies origin came from Scandinavia but the viking religion technically did not have a
specific name. They believed in their gods such as the Odin, Thor, Loki, and Freya. Each God had
a different meaning to their life. The Norse people believe that there are two types of Gods namely

their side because then they knew they would win. I want to understand how the different gods
affected the viking society and how the vikings worshiped the different Gods in different areas
of everyday life (war, harvest, love etc.). I choose to look into all the major Gods to get a larger

maid. She is taking care of her 17th white baby now. She works for a woman named Miss

think that overall, there is lots of variety to the three. The three girls working together begins to
create the solution to the main conflict. The main conflict in this case is blacks are being treated
in a way that is not fair. They are being treated as if they are disease carrying things. Skeeter
wants to change that perspective on people. That s why she wants to write a book on how black
maids are treated in Mississippi. I turn and hear Pascagoula s knock on my door. That s when
the idea hit me. No. I couldn t. That would be . . . crossing the line. (Page 104) This was

book starts out with Aibileen doing a normal day of work. She notices the Skeeter isn t like all the
other ladies. She s more polite. When Skeeter gets a job at the local newspaper she starts to go to

Toleration And Discrimination In The Movie Freedom Writers
Have you ever been discriminated or treated differently because who you are and what your

Essay on Milton and the Natural World
Blessed Be the Time: Changes in the Natural World as a Result of the Fall
The differences between prelapsarian and postlapsarian life as it pertains to mankind must be stark.
The Fall would lose all meaning otherwise, were the consequences of the original sin to be slight.
Everything that Adam and Eve had experienced must change so that they could comprehend the
vastness of their transgression. This would include everything of a spiritual nature: their
relationship with God, the angels, their ability to get into Heaven. However, as a fallen human, the
reader might find the physical changes that Adam, Eve, and the world around them undergo as a
result of the Fall to be very compelling. As someone who has never and can never ... Show more

In his infancy in Eden, Adam is presented with all the animals which instinctively subjugate
themselves before him. Not only is he clearly meant by God to be superior the animals, he also
seems to have some deeper knowledge of their essence, shown by how he named them as they
passed and understood/Their nature: with such knowledge God endued/[His] sudden
apprehension. (VIII.352 354) Similar to how the fertile earth of Eden provided for Adam and
Eve all they wanted, the animals too were at Man s beck and call in the prelapsarian world. Just
as the earth seems to have turned against Man after the fall, so do the animals. The special
relationship Adam shared with the animal kingdom is dissolved, the animals ceased to stand
much in awe/Of Man but fled him or with count nance grim/Glared on him passing. (X.712 714)
Animals were now not only scared of Man but more importantly began to actively menace him,
whereas Man knew no physical menace in his prelapsarian state. This is because the concept of
death has been introduced to the postlapsarian world, starting with the lower animals. In addition to
threatening Man, animals began to see each other as predator and prey. This new predatory
relationship between animals also portends a predatory relationship between people, when Milton
compares those who eventually take over the Church to grevious Wolves (XII.508) who prey on the
faithful and subvert God s word. After eating the forbidden fruit, Man

Summary Of Homosexuality In Kushner s Angels In America
Femininity is something that can often be overlooked by the authors of any literary piece. During
the time of Angels in America , Homosexuality was not something that was as widely noticed, or
even respected, during the 1990s, in which the play was written. The play, taking place in
Manhattan, New York, being a fairly loud city, homosexuality would generally be something that is
not widely accepted. Kushner represented the ups and downs of homosexuality and a character with
aids, becoming realistic for events that could potentially happen. Femininity is not often seen in
men especially in the past, since they always relied on having more manlike qualities. Femininity is

He says that cats have intuition (19), becoming an indirect representation of himself who knew that
something s wrong (19) between them. Prior defending the cat and its knowledge, is defending
himself, with the statement that he has his own intuition. The cat s intuition relates to a female s
human agency because intuition is one way that women are able to achieve that self achievement.
Though there is a bit of knowledge, a woman s human agency is still challenged due to the nature of
the time period. The connotation of know (19) relates to the femininity with the instinct that women
have knowing everything. Even though a woman may know everything, her femininity causes her
agency to fall because women are generally considered stupid (19).
Jehlen s theory of gender criticizes Kushner s view on femininity. Jehlen states that the ideas of
gender written out by writers are incorporate assumptions about the nature of sexual identity that
organize and even suggest critical perception (263), which is what Kushner metaphorically suggests
women to be. Women are assumed to be weak. Stupid (19) and rather feminine, which avoids
Jehlen s idea of equality and true recognition of femininity. Jehlen criticizes Kushner s writings on
femininity because she proves that women do have intuition (19), agreeing with Prior s voice.

Alice, Food, And Inner Desires
Alice, Food, and Inner Desires Lewis Carroll s whimsical journey into Wonderland has created a
fantasy worlds full of mystery and depth. In this essay I will discuss the links between the
consumption of food and the underlying desires behind consuming. In this essay I will argue that
food is used as a transformative device to enable Alice to voluntarily explore and involuntarily
supress her inner desires. Within the Lewis Carroll texts, Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and
Through the Looking Glass and What Alice found there, Alice experiences two very different
encounters with food. Alice s Adventures in Wonderland delves into the idea of eating or drinking
for pleasure. In contrast, Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There... Show more

There are close links between Alice s change in size and the gain of power. According to
Nicholson, consuming food is the material means of growth, where growth may be defined as
gaining power (39). This translates to the idea that Alice has power over her surroundings, she
desires to be omnipotent and break free of her inhibitions. Nicholson also explains that What is
killed does not die voluntarily. Therefore the creatures man eats must be weaker than he is (39).
Alice supports this idea when she consumes the cake labelled EAT ME (Carroll 12). Not only
does Alice consume the cake, but she does so to gain the power to transform so that she may
carry on with her pursuit of the garden. Alice s consumption of food in Wonderland not only
represents her need for power but also her need to fulfill internal desires. According to Garland,
Alice s attitude toward food...contrib[utes] to an understanding of the representations of sexuality
and subjectivity in Wonderland (25). This is reflected in Alice s quick desire s to eat and drink in
the first scene, despite the fact that she does not have any physical hunger. Garland also notes that,
the relationship Carroll presents between sexual females, desire, fear, and death is contrasted
strongly with female children, innocence, joy, and life (27). This suggests that although Alice
appears to be an innocent you

Identity And Conformity In Stargirl, By Jerry Spinelli
Throughout the novel Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli, several topics across the novel contribute to the
overall theme. From identity, conformity to bullying, the topics of Stargirl cover everything under
the Mica sun. Conformity is touched after everyone in Mica Area High School is described as
conformists, blending into one another. Identity is challenged by Stargirlas she breaks away from
conformity. Bullying makes its debut after the kids at MAHS reject Stargirls quirky ways. Overall,
the Stargirlnovel puts a fresh take on the underlining theme most people aren t true to themselves
unless they are confident. To begin, Stargirl defies the term normal throughout the novel with
her identity as the quirky over the top person she is. She laughed when there was no joke. She a
danced when there was no music. She had no friends, but was the friendliest person in school
(Page 15, Spinelli). This quote by Spinelli shows that Stargirl is different than everyone else, not
only in the way she dresses and looks, but also in her demeanor and outlook in life. The book goes
along to say that the kids at Mica Area High Schoolcouldn t make her out. In fact, Stargirls identity
and refusal to join the rest of the school in their conformity lifestyles, is drawn out though
character Hillari Kimble spreading the rumour across the entire school that She (Stargirl) isn t real

Summary Of To Read Like A Writer
In literary education, from childhood to maturity, individuals are taught how to write not to
improve themselves as critical thinkers, but to fulfill the requirements given to them in a
prompt. Whether to analyze or argue, this form of writing has led to a cease of literary
improvement in students today, making many question the effectiveness of writing classes.
Mike Bunns, in his article To Read like a Writer , explores this topic and stresses the necessity
for young readers to critically examine the author s choices in order to improve their own pieces
of work. Bunns effectively argues to his audience of college students that improved
comprehension comes from focusing on the rhetorical choices authors decide to make in their
compositions by tying personal narratives with repetitive questioning throughout his article. In
To Read like a Writer Mike Bunns introduces how writing is a series of choices with an account
of his past as an employee at a theatre. As he was trying to concentrate on his reading, he had an
epiphany that literary works are all a series of choices (Bunns 72). He then transitions to his main
claim of how reading like a writer allows for the reader to determine whether or not to adopt the
same style as the piece that the text may have. He breaks this down into subsections that readers
need to observe before they tackle the writing, such as context, genre, and publication. Additionally,
he points out the necessity to makes notes while reading the

Resilience Across Lifespan
Resilience across a lifespan can happen different ways from physical development to cognitive
development. We also have social and emotional development. Throughout this paper resilience will
be applied to all of the above mentioned concepts. Resilience across a lifespan is described through
theories, measures, and even personality characteristics. Resiliencehas also been applied to the
impacts of disasters and traumatic experiences in which will also be touched on throughout this
paper. Resilience is described as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma,
tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress (American Psychological Association, 2016).
Resilience is an ordinary thing in human beings. It is often described as bouncing back, which
refers to bouncing back from difficult times or situations. As a person grows older resilience
grows as well. A person s past can most certainly affect how a person uses resiliency in the
present. If a person is not affected negatively a lot in their past when it comes time for a person
to bounce back, they will not bounce back as smoothly as a person who has had a very traumatic
past and has learned how to bounce back in a smoother fashion. A person s past determines their
resiliency in the present and a person s present determines their resiliency efforts in the future.
Resiliency is different for each and every person. Resiliency also can grow with a person or can
dissipate

What Is The Mission Statement Of Brevard Zoo
According to Daniels and Bailey (1982), the mission of an organization is the reason it exists. For
organizations, such as zoological facilities the single most important outcome that measures
success, is the preservation of wild species and places. Wildlife Conservation through Education and
Participation is the mission statement of Brevard Zoo. The result of wildlife conservation is
achieved by the verbal behavior of hundreds of staff who share information to the public about the

Technological Advances From 1925 1950
This country has seen some of the most dramatic changes in technology, the economy, and global
dominance to ever occur in America s history. Times were good during the 1920s as the economy
was booming and unemployment was low. However, the market was being overinflated and the
pace of economic growth could not be sustained and in 1929 the stock market started dropping
significantly. The entire country turned into a panic and the whole economy was being dragged
down while unemployment skyrocketed. During the 1930s, America went through the worst
depression in recent history. Lawmakers scrambled to figure out how to solve this ... Show more

It was dubbed The Manhattan Project and consisted of some of the most brilliant physicists at the
time such as Albert Einstein. Then, in 1945 arguably the most powerful and controversial
technology was developed. This was the nuclear bomb and it completely changed the world
forever. This weapon could be used to decimate entire cities and the only time it was ever used
during any conflict was in 1945 (Shalett, n.d.). Japan was the target and the bomb left nothing but
rubble in its path.
The government played a large role in funding the development of the many cutting edge
technologies during this time period. This was a time period where government introduced never
before seen laws that dramatically increased spending. The most sweeping legislation developed
during this time period was the New Deal signed by President Theodore Roosevelt. The New Deal
tried to provide relief from the Great Depression through programs of regulation, inflation, price
stabilization, and public works. This also created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation

Reflection On Colors
I have been really focusing on colors for past 4 years, almost one fourth of my entire life. I
believe that each of different colors can change someone s life. It sounds unreal, almost. Well,
there is someone who got affected by colors. It s me. In fact, I was not always interested in colors
until Eighth Grade. I used to be a person who did not focus on colors in everyday life, just like
most people do, but now I care colors so much because of situations I have experienced.
Thankfully, everything in the world has a color, and it used for many different purposes. Human
eyes can see many different colors because they are very sensitive. For me, the color is something
that impacts and changes my state and thoughts. I love looking at colors because it supports the
words I am saying and gives me many different moods. I remember the times that I realized how
much colors impact on me.
When I was in eighth grade in South Korea, I got a chance to visit DMZ, or 38th parallel. DMZ
stands for the Demilitarized Zone, where it divides Korea into a half. While I was in DMZ, I
felt like I was in 1970s. South Koreans lived in DMZ, but it was a lonesome place. When I came
back to school, my teacher wanted me to explain the difference between North Korea, DMZ, and
South Korea, and I could not find ways to explain. Suddenly, I thought of colors, only because
they were simple. Then, I immediately started to color the south side of Korea as Blue, North as
Red , and DMZ as Light Purple. I said that Red indicates the communism and blood. Blue as a
peace, and Purple as a confusion. Everyone can guess Red as something about violence, and
Blue is something about peace. However, people don t know what Purple describes because it can
be anything. Purple is certainly the mixture of Red and Blue, but people don t go deeper. I said
light Purple because DMZ was a very clean place. The word confusion came to my mind, because I
was confused if I saw DMZ as more of South side or North side, and I used it to explain the
meaning of colors to my teacher. It was a total success! That s how I started to use them to support
my opinion. (I use color to to give a detail often)

Aganist the Guangzhou-Shenzhen- Hong Kong Express Railway
The confrontations about the Guangzhou Shenzhen Hong Kong Express Railway (XRL) came to
an end four years ago as the Chief Executive Donald Tsang approved the implementation of this
cross cities high speed rail link. (Hong Kong Government, 2009) Yet, related debates have not
ended. While some citizens oppose to the construction of this rail link, the government and few
others insist that the project will be beneficial to Hong Kong. However, this essay argues that XRL
should not be built because it is not, both economically and socially, beneficial to our city.
It seems that the express rail link will provide huge benefits to the economy and society of Hong
Kong. With 100,000 passengers flow projected by the government, XRL is said to bring various
benefits to the city. (Hong Kong Government, 2009).
The government claims that XRL can further enhance the exchange and cooperation between
Mainland and Hong Kong economically and socially. As a result of such closer tie with Mainland,
Hong Kong will enjoy an $87 billion benefit from time saved by passengers, more investment from
the Mainland, and also, about 21,000 job opportunities. Overall,
Yet, the above expectation on XRL may be overly optimistic. It is likely that the rail will face
fierce competition from its counterparts. In fact, by 2020, 78.95% of trains running along the rail
will end their services at Shenzhen. Apart from this, 278,960 people travel between Hong Kong
Shenzhen every day by the East Rail Line,

Operational and legislative developments in Screening
The introduction of X ray screening came to be as a response to the hijackings of Dawson s
Field on September 6, 1970 (Kazda amp; Caves, 2007). Acts of terrorism manifested by the
PFLP group (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine) orchestrated the hijackings of various
passenger flights from operators including Pan America, TWA, Swiss Air and BOAC. The PFLP
diverted flights to Dawson s Field, Jorden (with the exception of Pan America B747
commandeered toward Cairo) holding hostages for political reasons. The operational practices
of screening in this era were mostly basic hand held metal detectors, along with early versions of
walk through metal detectors as the birth of passenger detection. The conventional x ray systems
introduced at this time were initially for carry on baggage scanning, a system widely adopted by
many airports. With increased usage, operators also utilised conventional x rays in large
quantities for hold checked baggage, manually searching a minimum of 10% of all screened items
for effective practices (Shanks amp; Bradley, 2004).Two years after, in 1972, magnetometer type
screening was practiced in airports with 100% of all carry on baggage being checked for domestic

Man vs. Self Conflicts in The Lord of the Flies by...
Though The Lord of the Flies never describes a Man vs. Self conflict, there is indeed a definite
enemy among the islanders; haplessly being themselves. Moreover, the retrenchment of the refined
attitudes of the islanders being amended into that of irrational savages is culpable for the tragedies
conducted by the islanders throughout the story. This sort of ancillary and visceral enemy that the
islanders impinge upon is thus apposite to the Man vs. Self conflictstyle.
To begin, there is a detectable amount of referencing to savagery throughout the story and often it
is what to blame for much of the conflicts in the book as aforementioned. For instance, the frequent
and acerbic collisions among Jack and Ralph with Piggy often describe either Ralph or Jack
becoming savage. In fact, every incident in the book adumbrates to the presence savagery at least
peripherally.
For instance, the diurnal (adding wood to fire) was a custom that would most likely have led to the
boys being rescued had they not construed of the existence of a mythical Beast which never
transpired in the physical realm. This conjured beast of superstitious properties precluded an early
rescue when it was created without conferring with logic.
This misconstrued perception heaped upon another was sufficient to effect the death of Simon s
very own life.
As for Piggy s death at Roger s hands, it could be blamed by the diffident Roger s innately sadistic
behaviour that merely inured to a land that

Of course, you will likely want to have a full sized stroller system that has all the bells and
whistles. Many of them are like baby Cadillacs. However, full sized strollers have some major
liabilities. They are heavy. In fact, they are often so heavy that it is impossible to get them into the
car, so you can push your baby around when you get to your final destination. If you are lucky
enough to win the struggle of getting the stroller in and out of your vehicle, the next task is setting

Following are some of the factors to look at during your search for a new lightweight stroller.
Type There are two types of lightweight strollers, so your first consideration should be which
one of these two will best fit your needs. The most common type of lightweight stroller is the
umbrella stroller. This type of stroller is typically the one parents envision when they consider a
second stroller that is compact enough to take on the go. This type of stroller is generally basic
and does not include any extras that are common on full sized strollers. The other type of
lightweight stroller is a bit bigger than an umbrella stroller but not as big as a standard stroller.
This type of lightweight stroller generally is more comfortable and has a few conveniences such
as under seat storage and larger sunshades. Budget As with most items you buy, price is always a
consideration. Lightweight strollers have a wide price range, depending on the features you are
looking for. It is not hard to find a lightweight stroller to fit any budget, and it is equally as easy
to find one that will break your bank account. So, it is a good idea to set your budget before you
start looking for a stroller so you can easily eliminate some choices right off the bat. Durability
Just as lightweight strollers come in a variety of price ranges, they also vary in their durability.

Killing Animals Is A Normal Way Of Life
For many, killing animals is a normal way of life. After all, animals are here on earth to eat
right? I was raised to think just this way. In my family, we learned to hunt and fish at an early
age. We have even produced a few hogs of our own to butcher. A life without meat seemed insane
to the younger me. As I aged I got involved in 4 H, an agricultureprogram for kids. Children with
the help of their parents raise and then sell animals such as pigs, chickens, turkeys, goats, rabbit,

people why they choose one but not the other. As a senior in high school, I did a research essay on
the treatment of animals in the meat industry. After my findings, I strongly considered becoming a
vegetarian but never made the steps to. It is now two years after I graduated high school and I am
questioning the world more now than ever. I have heard of new studies showing that eating meat is
not just harming innocent animals. It s harming humans and the environment as a whole. Over the
past year, I have been trying to reduce my footprint on this earth. After hearing a few shocking
facts, it was enough to push me to the next step to becoming a vegetarian. Since at the moment I am
going off a few facts, I wanted to dig further and find the truth. I want to know is the meat industry
harming our environment? I am ready to uncover the hidden negativities of this industry and find
out if the good outweighs the bad.
A staggering 80 percent of the deforestation has been caused by agriculture. I have always known
that a whopping 71 percent of the earth s surface is made up of water, leaving 29 percent as a land

B. Characteristics and limitations of Sue s current hearing aids.
One of the first things, perhaps the most important during hearing aids fitting, is to provide
appropriate gain for the patient after a thorough hearing assessment. Oticon Intiga RITE (receiver in

unnatural sensations. To use an RITE with open fit domes, Sue needs to have good low frequency

smaller (size 10) batteries compared to batteries used by many other miniature hearing aids (size
312 or 13), which could also pose management issues.

Casino Legislation Impacts The Local And State Economy
Casino legislation impacts the local and state economy. How it affects the economy fluctuates
depending on surrounding circumstances. These circumstances include location and who owns the
casino. A local casino will result in changes in Government revenue, public services, and
surrounding businesses. Casinos bring a local economy a new tax source and new jobs but it is
crucial to look further to see if casinos boost the local economy. In one article the writers statethe
benefits of the new casinoincluding new jobs and investment. Felsentein, Littlepage, Klacik (2000)
then explain that many casino jobs however require some specific training. This means many
employees commute to work. Also some of local casino employees leave previous jobs in
community to come work in the casino. The casino is not creating for the local economy if
workers are commuting or leaving old jobs (Felsentein, Littlepage, Klacik, 2000)
Where a casino is located is critical to how it affects the economy. A typical local casino does not
bring money to the area like Las Vegas or Atlantic City does. This is because most gamblers in
these two areas are tourist. Tourists bring money to an economy. In many local casinos the
gamblers live in the same city as the casino. When this is the case, gamblers are not bringing
money to the economy; they are transferring money that was already in the local economy. In an

Definition Essay On Sacrifice
When you go in search of honey, you must expect to be stung by bees. ― Joseph Joubert.
According the Merriam Webster Dictionary sacrifice is defined as destruction or surrender of
something for the sake of something else . The second definition is something given up or lost . Do
you really understand the definition of sacrifice? Have you ever felt like you ve sacrificed
something for a greater gain? Sacrifice can be a hard thing to do sometimes but the action that
belongs to the word has changed the course of history time after time. To better understand the
meaning of sacrifice and what it encompasses we must first look at its synonyms. The Merriam
Webster Dictionary list terms such as forfeit , yield , surrender . offer , and suffer . These terms
suggest that some sort of struggle might have ensued leaving another to sacrifice which they may
have not been ready to give. The implication is that if you re sacrificing your losing, or if you re

for universal use. While on Easter Island the native people cut down all the palm trees to make
canoes but to manly make boards to move there giant statues around that were made out of stone.
Both the Lorax and Easter Island used up all their trees so production of their products had to stop,
however they do have their differences.

Sociological Concept in The Help
Summary:
The Help is written by Tate Taylor in 2011 which is adapted from Kathryn Stockett s novel. This
film mainly talked about three women in Mississippi during 1960s : Aibileen Clark who is a
black maid and works for Elizabeth family, Minny Jackson who is the brusque and outspoken
maid, and Skeeter Phelan who decides to write the book about the help . In overall, The Help
presents how African American maids in the South viewed their employers during Jim Crow days.
First, Skeeter is a southern society girl, who already graduated from a college, comes home and
finds that she doesn t easily fit in that society. She has never had a boyfriend despite wanting
romance in her life, primarily concentrate for writing career, either as a serious journalist.
Skeeter starts to think about writing book to change attitudes about race in Jackson Mississippi,
which is also the chance from a New York s editor to develop her career. She purposed to know
about the works of a black maid in Mississippi. Aibileen is the first woman who agrees to work
with Skeeter. Aibileen works hard for Elizabeth family in Jackson. After realizing that Skeeter
needs more maids stories to finish the book, Aibileen asked help from her best friend who names
Minny. Minny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The maids had to work under white dominance to support their family, raise their children and
pay rent and many other expenses. Therefore, they basically have to play the role which
socioeconomics forced on them. However, their sacrifice also viewed how beautiful and strong
they were .Therefore, for the women in The Help the struggles are obvious. Aibileen had denied
joining in Skeeter s book until she saw Mindy her best friend was abused. Either, Mindy would
never ever fight if she had not fired from

Disadvantages Of Moulding Essay
4.2.4 Advantages of Liquid Silicone Rubber Moulding
Here are several problems that might face with other materials, which would not with LSR:
By Products:
LSR does not generate by products. Its molecular structure makes it appropriate for a wide range of
applications, however, the same structure means it can t be broken apart or recycled. The superior
bonding strength between the silicon and oxygen atoms keeps the polymers from degrading under
temperatures that most thermoplastics cannot withstand.
Restrictive design:
Generally, LSR has design guidelines that are comparable to thermoplastics, but it offers more
freedom in certain areas. LSR gives designers more flexibility in the design process because the
material is more forgiving when compared to thermoplastics.
Planes:
Planes that run the same direction of the mould opening usually require some draft, which allow
milling of the mould. The mould design requires about one ... Show more content on

Part geometries can have a great deal of impact depending upon the type of moulding used. Some
work well with automation typical for horizontal LSR moulding, while others work better for the
manual operation of vertical machine moulding. Also, the complexity of the geometry plays a role
in governing the size of the mould and thus the size of the moulding machine.
How will the part be demoulded?
Design for ease of demoulding is just as important as design for moulding. Silicone has high green
tear strength: meaning that very large undercuts may be designed into a product and the parts can
be stretched over them during demoulding without permanent deformation. However, this does not
mean that any geometry may be easily removed from the mould. Silicone s tendency to adhere to
the mould steel after moulding coupled with its natural tackiness can make it quite difficult to
remove thick walled highly undercut parts. Undercuts and wall thicknesses should be carefully
chosen during the design

The Setting of The Jolly Corner and The Devil s Advocate...
The Setting of The Jolly Corner and The Devil s Advocate Evoek the Supernatural
The Oxford English Dictionary defines supernatural as That which is above nature; belonging to a
higher realm or system than that of nature; transcending the powers or the ordinary course of
nature. Through the duration of mankind s existence, humans have been fascinated with a higher
power that defies the laws of nature. Supernatural themes have stimulated literature and the arts,
both ancient and modern. Many parallels can be connected between stories involving the
paranormal. The setting of The Jolly Corner and The Devil s Advocate evokes the preternatural. In
the The Jolly Corner , a supernatural presence is displayed within the ... Show more content on

Another element of setting in which the supernatural is evoked is the time of day in which the
story takes place. The majority of the story takes place at night and during twilight. The cleaning
lady, Mrs. Muldoon, says that she won t stay in the house during the dark hours of the night,
suggesting that uncanny happenings occur during the night. Spencer Brydon always entered the
house during twilight symbolizing that he is at a threshold crossing in which he will transform
himself into his doppleganger. The night and twilight setting stimulate a dark and mysterious
feeling towards the house. Finally, the last major detail that evokes the supernatural within the
setting is the location of the house. The house is located on the west side of town, which is closer
to his origin (United States of America). The house being on the west side symbolizes what he may
have been if he had stayed in the United States of America. This suggests that his doppleganger of
the person he would have been if he had stayed in the United States is actually present. Another
work that suggests the supernatural through it s setting is The Devil s Advocate. In this movie,
Keanu Reeves, who plays the main character, is a lawyer. He moves to New York, a dismal city, to
work for a law firm. The owner of the law firm is secretly his father and the Devil. When Reeves
meets the owner, Al Pacino, it takes place in his

Jane Eyre Gender
This purpose of this essay is to examine Charlotte Bronte s analysis of Victorian gender roles
found within Jane Eyre. For most readers, Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre is much more than an
iconic Gothic novel set within the Victorian Era. In my opinion, it s a story about a young
woman who not only defies gender role, but also the social class in an attempt to live her life; but
in her own way. On top of that, readers began to view Jane as a somewhat unexpected heroine of
Bronte s novel, that while facing innumerable obstacles within a tough social class, becomes
something more by the end of the story. I believe that another purpose for Bronte s novel is to
show readers that women like Jane Eyrecan rise above the oppressive environment of... Show more

You are like a murderer you are like a slave driver you are like the Roman emperors! (Bronte 8).
This method of defiance towards corruptive authority figures exploits both the immense strength
and courage that manifests within her. Furthermore, it s important to understand that her defiant
attitude toward her tormentors not only strengthened her resolve to overcome an oppressive male
system, but also provided her with self empowerment to help speed the growth of her feministic

Abstinence-only vs. Abstinence-plus
There are many problems facing teenagers these days. None are bigger than the issue of underage
sex, and all the issues stemming from it. The number of teenagers becoming sexually active,
pregnant, and contracting sexually transmitted diseases are rapidly on the rise. There is no simple
fix, or easy solution to this problem. Sex educationshould begin at home, and extend to include an
effective program in schools that reinforce a clear message of abstaining from sexual activity in
addition to informing students of the risks posed by engaging in sexual activity. The political, and
religious dissension on this issue has resulted in a procedural stalemate preventing schools from
effectively addressing the problem, and implement a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ideal of what historian Anne Higonnet calls the Romantic Child, our modern image of a
naturally asexual, pure child, is at the heart of century long conflicts over sex education. By
definition, the romantic child s innocence depends on protection from sexuality (Talk About Sex
13). Parents, in general, do not feel at ease thinking about their children having sex, nor do they
want to encourage them to do so. The fact that most parents are not comfortable talking about the
subject with their children only increases the importance of doing so in our schools. Opposition of
the Abstinence Plus program centers around the belief that by comprehensively informing students
about sex, and responsible practices, in addition to supplying contraceptives, will send a message
that not only is it okay to have sex but here have a condom to do it with. In some cases, they
actually suggest the importance of telling students that condoms are ineffective and do not work
(Teenage Sexuality 205). Over the past few decades, several attempts have been made to scare
teenagers away from sex. In the sex education video No Second Chance, a young man asks the
teacher what if he does not to wait until marriage to have sex. She replies, Well, I guess you ll
just have to be prepared to die (Talk About Sex 117). The intended message was that condoms do
not work in effectively preventing HIV. This is

The circle today went extremely well I thought Catie and Rahsaan did great. I liked the check in question. It was ironic because my friend had asked me the same question two hours before class. Their circle helped me clarify the reading a bit more. I know that family group conference focused on face to face encounter involving offenders and their families, the victims and their supporters, a police representative, and etc.... Most of us during the circle had the same answers to the questions. Mainly because the information we were giving out was mostly likely from the readings and personal experience. He is one of the major reason why I am going for a degree in criminal justice. Moreover, during the reading I was thinking aren t family group conferences already included in the public school system. But it is more focused on the punishment. If it were more focused on the consequence and the healing these conference would have most likely prevent recidivism. I like the line on page 260 where it says Involving community groups as part of the overall Conference process gives them an opportunity to work a cooperative way that will enhance their effectiveness, avoid duplication of services, and enable them to provide a no gap service... . Both research techniques are viable and beneficial. They each have purpose and can be used as a marketing research template when conducting research. • 5. Pneumoniae Research Paper Ben Sperber Period 7 Drug Resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae Drug Resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae The war against bacteria and their ability to evolve at a much faster rate than humans can create antibiotics (a medicine that hinders and disrupts bacterial growth and or destroys it) to fight against them has the human race at a disadvantage. With more and more bacteria being found to have strains of drug resistant chains is creating a health crisis around the world as global health officials try to find a way to protect their populations against this up and coming threat, and the issues it poses for the future of medicine and treatment of infections. Due to increased use of antibiotics in unneeded situations, bacteria are having more chances to let mutations that are immune to antibiotics be spread through other bacteria. This is causing more cases of antibiotic resistant bacteria and increasing the number of them. Drug resistance results in higher costs due to longer hospital pays and more expensive antibiotics, need for supervision, patient education, and new drug developments. • 6. Antonio Vivaldi Contributions The Renaissance was a period in European history, from the 14th to the 16th century, regarded as the cultural bridge between the Middle Ages and modern history, but this period of time was eventually overtaken by the Baroque. While the Renaissance brought back the beauty and grace of the Greeks, the Baroque revived the dramatic and affections, or feelings, within musicthat stirred the soul. Unlike the previous period, the Baroque focused on the performance and work itself than the actual composer. The great giants of this time include Monteverdi, Bach, and Handel. They all contributed to the Baroque in various ways, either through operas or conciertos, and everything in between. However, an equally important composer is Antonio Vivaldi. His works spans an array of musical genres and the volume of music he produced make him a significant player in this period. On March 4th, 1678, Antonio Vivaldi, the most original and influential Italian composer of his generation , was born in Venice, Italy (Whole Notes: Stories Behind the Classics: Antonio Vivaldi). Born a sickly child, he was baptized almost immediately because the midwife thought his life was in danger since he was born the day of an earthquake (Sadie, Stanley, and John Tyrrell, 2001). In reality, Vivaldi had stretezza de prieto or asthma, and this condition would affect him for the rest of his life, limiting the types of instruments he could comfortably and masterfully play (Sadie, Stanley, and John Tyrrell, 2001). ... • 8. Drinking In College Essay The graduating Class of 2015 quickly learned that college really is the best time of our livesНѕ but with great power, comes great responsibility. Drinking at a frat party sounds like a lot of fun until you wake up at 6 in the morning at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. While many students drink, not many know the health and personal risks that come making the decision to consume alcohol. According to the Science Inside Alcohol Project, a study funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, people who consume too much alcohol pass out when the large amount of alcohol overwhelms the Reticular Activating System. This is the system that decides when one is conscious or not. Because alcohol is a depressant, it depresses the central nervous system. Passing out is the body s attempt to preserve its energy to keep performing the basic bodily functions that keep people alive, such as maintaining heartbeat and breathing. Psychological effects of excessive alcohol consumption include greater likelihood of committing suicide and contracting hepatic encephalopathy. Hepatic encephalopathy is a worsening of brain function that occurs when the liver is no longer able to remove toxic substances in the blood (Tracy, 2012). If this occurs, one could experience differences in personality, overall mood, issues with coordination, and decrease in function of longterm memory and attentions spans. The vikings lived a very different life compared to England during this time. The vikings believed in norse mythology or commonly known as paganism. They worshipped many gods. • 15. Essay on Milton and the Natural World Blessed Be the Time: Changes in the Natural World as a Result of the Fall The differences between prelapsarian and postlapsarian life as it pertains to mankind must be stark. The Fall would lose all meaning otherwise, were the consequences of the original sin to be slight. Everything that Adam and Eve had experienced must change so that they could comprehend the vastness of their transgression. This would include everything of a spiritual nature: their relationship with God, the angels, their ability to get into Heaven. However, as a fallen human, the reader might find the physical changes that Adam, Eve, and the world around them undergo as a result of the Fall to be very compelling. Not only is he clearly meant by God to be superior the animals, he also seems to have some deeper knowledge of their essence, shown by how he named them as they passed and understood/Their nature: with such knowledge God endued/[His] sudden apprehension. (VIII.352 354) Similar to how the fertile earth of Eden provided for Adam and Eve all they wanted, the animals too were at Man s beck and call in the prelapsarian world. Just as the earth seems to have turned against Man after the fall, so do the animals. The special relationship Adam shared with the animal kingdom is dissolved, the animals ceased to stand much in awe/Of Man but fled him or with count nance grim/Glared on him passing. (X.712 714) Animals were now not only scared of Man but more importantly began to actively menace him, whereas Man knew no physical menace in his prelapsarian state. This is because the concept of death has been introduced to the postlapsarian world, starting with the lower animals. In addition to threatening Man, animals began to see each other as predator and prey. This new predatory relationship between animals also portends a predatory relationship between people, when Milton compares those who eventually take over the Church to grevious Wolves (XII.508) who prey on the faithful and subvert God s word. The play, taking place in Manhattan, New York, being a fairly loud city, homosexuality would generally be something that is not widely accepted. Kushner represented the ups and downs of homosexuality and a character with aids, becoming realistic for events that could potentially happen. The cat s intuition relates to a female s human agency because intuition is one way that women are able to achieve that self achievement. Though there is a bit of knowledge, a woman s human agency is still challenged due to the nature of the time period. The connotation of know (19) relates to the femininity with the instinct that women have knowing everything. Jehlen states that the ideas of gender written out by writers are incorporate assumptions about the nature of sexual identity that organize and even suggest critical perception (263), which is what Kushner metaphorically suggests women to be. Women are assumed to be weak. Stupid (19) and rather feminine, which avoids Jehlen s idea of equality and true recognition of femininity. In this essay I will discuss the links between the consumption of food and the underlying desires behind consuming. In this essay I will argue that food is used as a transformative device to enable Alice to voluntarily explore and involuntarily supress her inner desires. There are close links between Alice s change in size and the gain of power. According to Nicholson, consuming food is the material means of growth, where growth may be defined as gaining power (39). This translates to the idea that Alice has power over her surroundings, she desires to be omnipotent and break free of her inhibitions. Nicholson also explains that What is killed does not die voluntarily. Therefore the creatures man eats must be weaker than he is (39). Alice supports this idea when she consumes the cake labelled EAT ME (Carroll 12). Not only does Alice consume the cake, but she does so to gain the power to transform so that she may carry on with her pursuit of the garden. Alice s consumption of food in Wonderland not only represents her need for power but also her need to fulfill internal desires. According to Garland, Alice s attitude toward food...contrib[utes] to an understanding of the representations of sexuality and subjectivity in Wonderland (25). This is reflected in Alice s quick desire s to eat and drink in the first scene, despite the fact that she does not have any physical hunger. To begin, Stargirl defies the term normal throughout the novel with her identity as the quirky over the top person she is. She laughed when there was no joke. She a danced when there was no music. She had no friends, but was the friendliest person in school (Page 15, Spinelli). This quote by Spinelli shows that Stargirl is different than everyone else, not only in the way she dresses and looks, but also in her demeanor and outlook in life. The book goes along to say that the kids at Mica Area High Schoolcouldn t make her out. In fact, Stargirls identity and refusal to join the rest of the school in their conformity lifestyles, is drawn out though character Hillari Kimble spreading the rumour across the entire school that She (Stargirl) isn t real (Spinelli, Pag 7). going onto to tell Mica Area High School her conspiracy about Stargirl being a ploy by the ... Summary Of To Read Like A Writer In literary education, from childhood to maturity, individuals are taught how to write not to improve themselves as critical thinkers, but to fulfill the requirements given to them in a prompt. Whether to analyze or argue, this form of writing has led to a cease of literary improvement in students today, making many question the effectiveness of writing classes. Mike Bunns, in his article To Read like a Writer , explores this topic and stresses the necessity for young readers to critically examine the author s choices in order to improve their own pieces of work. Bunns effectively argues to his audience of college students that improved comprehension comes from focusing on the rhetorical choices authors decide to make in their compositions by tying personal narratives with repetitive questioning throughout his article. In To Read like a Writer Mike Bunns introduces how writing is a series of choices with an account of his past as an employee at a theatre. As he was trying to concentrate on his reading, he had an epiphany that literary works are all a series of choices (Bunns 72). He then transitions to his main claim of how reading like a writer allows for the reader to determine whether or not to adopt the same style as the piece that the text may have. He breaks this down into subsections that readers need to observe before they tackle the writing, such as context, genre, and publication. Additionally, he points out the necessity to makes notes while reading the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Resiliencehas also been applied to the impacts of disasters and traumatic experiences in which will also be touched on throughout this paper. Resilience is described as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress (American Psychological Association, 2016). Resilience is an ordinary thing in human beings. It is often described as bouncing back, which refers to bouncing back from difficult times or situations. As a person grows older resilience grows as well. A person s past can most certainly affect how a person uses resiliency in the present. If a person is not affected negatively a lot in their past when it comes time for a person to bounce back, they will not bounce back as smoothly as a person who has had a very traumatic past and has learned how to bounce back in a smoother fashion. A person s past determines their resiliency in the present and a person s present determines their resiliency efforts in the future. Resiliency is different for each and every person. It sounds unreal, almost. Well, there is someone who got affected by colors. It s me. In fact, I was not always interested in colors until Eighth Grade. I used to be a person who did not focus on colors in everyday life, just like most people do, but now I care colors so much because of situations I have experienced. Thankfully, everything in the world has a color, and it used for many different purposes. Human eyes can see many different colors because they are very sensitive. For me, the color is something that impacts and changes my state and thoughts. I love looking at colors because it supports the words I am saying and gives me many different moods. I remember the times that I realized how much colors impact on me. When I was in eighth grade in South Korea, I got a chance to visit DMZ, or 38th parallel. DMZ stands for the Demilitarized Zone, where it divides Korea into a half. While I was in DMZ, I felt like I was in 1970s. South Koreans lived in DMZ, but it was a lonesome place. When I came back to school, my teacher wanted me to explain the difference between North Korea, DMZ, and South Korea, and I could not find ways to explain. Suddenly, I thought of colors, only because they were simple. Then, I immediately started to color the south side of Korea as Blue, North as Red , and DMZ as Light Purple. I said that Red indicates the communism and blood. Blue as a peace, and Purple as a confusion. Everyone can guess Red as something about violence, and Blue is something about peace. However, people don t know what Purple describes because it can be anything. Purple is certainly the mixture of Red and Blue, but people don t go deeper. I said light Purple because DMZ was a very clean place. The word confusion came to my mind, because I was confused if I saw DMZ as more of South side or North side, and I used it to explain the meaning of colors to my teacher. It was a total success! That s how I started to use them to support my opinion. (I use color to to give a detail often) I went to Canada this summer, and I traveled Banff and Vancouver. In Banff, ... While some citizens oppose to the construction of this rail link, the government and few others insist that the project will be beneficial to Hong Kong. However, this essay argues that XRL should not be built because it is not, both economically and socially, beneficial to our city. It seems that the express rail link will provide huge benefits to the economy and society of Hong Kong. With 100,000 passengers flow projected by the government, XRL is said to bring various benefits to the city. (Hong Kong Government, 2009). The government claims that XRL can further enhance the exchange and cooperation between Mainland and Hong Kong economically and socially. As a result of such closer tie with Mainland, Hong Kong will enjoy an $87 billion benefit from time saved by passengers, more investment from the Mainland, and also, about 21,000 job opportunities. Overall, Yet, the above expectation on XRL may be overly optimistic. It is likely that the rail will face fierce competition from its counterparts. Though The Lord of the Flies never describes a Man vs. Self conflict, there is indeed a definite enemy among the islanders; haplessly being themselves. Moreover, the retrenchment of the refined attitudes of the islanders being amended into that of irrational savages is culpable for the tragedies conducted by the islanders throughout the story. This sort of ancillary and visceral enemy that the islanders impinge upon is thus apposite to the Man vs. Self conflictstyle. To begin, there is a detectable amount of referencing to savagery throughout the story and often it is what to blame for much of the conflicts in the book as aforementioned. For instance, the frequent and acerbic collisions among Jack and Ralph with Piggy often describe either Ralph or Jack becoming savage. • 42. Disadvantages Of Moulding Essay 4.2.4 Advantages of Liquid Silicone Rubber Moulding Here are several problems that might face with other materials, which would not with LSR: By Products: LSR does not generate by products. Its molecular structure makes it appropriate for a wide range of applications, however, the same structure means it can t be broken apart or recycled. The superior bonding strength between the silicon and oxygen atoms keeps the polymers from degrading under temperatures that most thermoplastics cannot withstand. Restrictive design: Generally, LSR has design guidelines that are comparable to thermoplastics, but it offers more freedom in certain areas. LSR gives designers more flexibility in the design process because the material is more forgiving when compared to thermoplastics. Planes: Planes that run the same direction of the mould opening usually require some draft, which allow milling of the mould. The mould design requires about one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Part geometries can have a great deal of impact depending upon the type of moulding used. Some work well with automation typical for horizontal LSR moulding, while others work better for the manual operation of vertical machine moulding. Also, the complexity of the geometry plays a role in governing the size of the mould and thus the size of the moulding machine. How will the part be demoulded? Design for ease of demoulding is just as important as design for moulding. Silicone has high green tear strength: meaning that very large undercuts may be designed into a product and the parts can be stretched over them during demoulding without permanent deformation. However, this does not mean that any geometry may be easily removed from the mould. Silicone s tendency to adhere to the mould steel after moulding coupled with its natural tackiness can make it quite difficult to remove thick walled highly undercut parts. Undercuts and wall thicknesses should be carefully chosen during the design ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Setting of The Jolly Corner and The Devil s Advocate... The Setting of The Jolly Corner and The Devil s Advocate Evoek the Supernatural The Oxford English Dictionary defines supernatural as That which is above nature; belonging to a higher realm or system than that of nature; transcending the powers or the ordinary course of nature. Through the duration of mankind s existence, humans have been fascinated with a higher power that defies the laws of nature. Supernatural themes have stimulated literature and the arts, both ancient and modern. Many parallels can be connected between stories involving the paranormal. The setting of The Jolly Corner and The Devil s Advocate evokes the preternatural. In the The Jolly Corner , a supernatural presence is displayed within the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another element of setting in which the supernatural is evoked is the time of day in which the story takes place. The majority of the story takes place at night and during twilight. The cleaning lady, Mrs. Muldoon, says that she won t stay in the house during the dark hours of the night, suggesting that uncanny happenings occur during the night. Spencer Brydon always entered the house during twilight symbolizing that he is at a threshold crossing in which he will transform himself into his doppleganger. The night and twilight setting stimulate a dark and mysterious feeling towards the house. Finally, the last major detail that evokes the supernatural within the setting is the location of the house. The house is located on the west side of town, which is closer to his origin (United States of America). The house being on the west side symbolizes what he may have been if he had stayed in the United States of America. This suggests that his doppleganger of the person he would have been if he had stayed in the United States is actually present. Another work that suggests the supernatural through it s setting is The Devil s Advocate. In this movie, Keanu Reeves, who plays the main character, is a lawyer. He moves to New York, a dismal city, to work for a law firm. The owner of the law firm is secretly his father and the Devil. When Reeves meets the owner, Al Pacino, it takes place in his ... • 44. Jane Eyre Gender This purpose of this essay is to examine Charlotte Bronte s analysis of Victorian gender roles found within Jane Eyre. For most readers, Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre is much more than an iconic Gothic novel set within the Victorian Era. In my opinion, it s a story about a young woman who not only defies gender role, but also the social class in an attempt to live her life; but in her own way. On top of that, readers began to view Jane as a somewhat unexpected heroine of Bronte s novel, that while facing innumerable obstacles within a tough social class, becomes something more by the end of the story. I believe that another purpose for Bronte s novel is to show readers that women like Jane Eyrecan rise above the oppressive environment of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 45. Abstinence-only vs. Abstinence-plus There are many problems facing teenagers these days. None are bigger than the issue of underage sex, and all the issues stemming from it. The number of teenagers becoming sexually active, pregnant, and contracting sexually transmitted diseases are rapidly on the rise. There is no simple fix, or easy solution to this problem. Sex educationshould begin at home, and extend to include an effective program in schools that reinforce a clear message of abstaining from sexual activity in addition to informing students of the risks posed by engaging in sexual activity. The political, and religious dissension on this issue has resulted in a procedural stalemate preventing schools from effectively addressing the problem, and implement a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ideal of what historian Anne Higonnet calls the Romantic Child, our modern image of a naturally asexual, pure child, is at the heart of century long conflicts over sex education. By definition, the romantic child s innocence depends on protection from sexuality (Talk About Sex 13). Parents, in general, do not feel at ease thinking about their children having sex, nor do they want to encourage them to do so. The fact that most parents are not comfortable talking about the subject with their children only increases the importance of doing so in our schools. Opposition of the Abstinence Plus program centers around the belief that by comprehensively informing students about sex, and responsible practices, in addition to supplying contraceptives, will send a message that not only is it okay to have sex but here have a condom to do it with. In some cases, they actually suggest the importance of telling students that condoms are ineffective and do not work (Teenage Sexuality 205). Over the past few decades, several attempts have been made to scare teenagers away from sex. In the sex education video No Second Chance, a young man asks the teacher what if he does not to wait until marriage to have sex. She replies, Well, I guess you ll just have to be prepared to die (Talk About Sex 117). The intended message was that condoms do not work in effectively preventing HIV. This is ...
