What Does Grandpa Mean To Me
I have been blessed with so much with all of the people, objects, and opportunities I ve been given
from day one to today. I ve had amazing friends and family who have blessed me with the feeling of
never being alone. I ve had some amazing supporters that have been there for me whenever I needed
them to be. My favorite place I can remember in my early childhood was my grandpa s house. I loved
being able to go there and hunt. He was He always used to have some of the best coyote, rabbit, deer,
and pheasant hunting I can ever remember. I loved riding horse over the rolling hills west river
chasing and branding cattle. The people there are different, they help each other or loan something to
somebody for no cost. They don t demand money for their deeds and it just seems around here that is
getting to be unheard of. I would go back there in a heartbeat at any time if I could. My grandpa was
one of the mentors in my life who really got me started on hunting. When my grandpa died I was
given his shotgun a few years later. I will always consider that the most memorable gifts I was ever
given. The gun ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I ve learned some of the most valuable lessons from some of the biggest mistakes I ve ever made.
Some of the smartest decisions people ever made with me was letting me make those mistakes so I
would learn to never do them again. I have come a long ways in these sixteen of life. By life has only
begun, but God can call me home at any time. All of these wonderful blessings are just temporary. I ve
had memories that I will never forget, but in the end they are not important. When God calls me home
it won t matter where my favorite place was growing up, what my favorite possession was, or what
best represents who I am. In the end all that will matter is who you are on the inside. When God calls
me home to him I will have an all new favorite place, and all new favorite

New Medi New Digital Age
Living in a new digital age, we are seeing more computerized devices like smartphone and computers
replacing old media technologies like newspaper, radio and television. Characteristics of new media as
being digital, computerized, interactive and hypersexual have shaped new forms of communication.
Meanwhile, the ability of new media to merge different forms of media technologies, industries and
services so called convergence has also created unprecedented transformations in the society. In this
paper, I argue that new media has contributed to all aspects of the paradigm shift. As it is constantly
remediating its predecessors, it shapes new modes of subjectivity and changes the way we perceive
knowledge. Although these changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, new media is reproducing itself through different old technologies. Not only new media is
remediating its predecessors, it also shapes new modes of subjectivity. Subjectivity means the process
of being a subject; it refers to who we are to how we react to the world. The emergence of new media
has unprecedentedly change the subjectivity of different things. For example, we are experiencing new
forms of textual experiences and representations such as genre, form and consumption. There are new
forms of embodiment and identity that change how we perceive ourselves and our bodies.
Organization also changes the rules of ownership, control, regulation. These subjectivities are all
being reshaped due to the change of our relationship with technologies. The example discussed in
lecture is subjectivity related to selfies. Media technologies has created selfies which are these self
portraits taken by phones that gets uploaded to social media. It is a convergence of technology,
interaction and body. Selfies become a way to call to the world about who we are and a commanding
representation of self. Because the immediacy, ubiquity and ephemerality of the social media, selfies
have embodied these characteristics and become instant, common and short lived. The characteristics
of new media is shaping the subjectivity of selfies. Moreover, devices functions are more
determinative than aesthetic conventions. Technologies offer people the power to edit selfies. People

Essay about RTT Executive Summary
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Overview
RTT was founded in 2002 by Paul Schenk and Thomas Carlsson to exploit significant advances in the
fields of computing and visual sciences, and has developed a series of visual intelligence technologies,
that offer a leading edge in real world motion capture and real time virtual computer generated 3D
graphics technology.
RTT s systems utilise networked video cameras, computer processing units and specialist software and
are now, through its subsidiary Venatrack, exploiting the football market with signed three year supply
agreements with the Premier League and Sky Sports as well as PA Sports and Manchester City FC.
The company also expects to close negotiations with the BBC imminently. The nature of the ... Show

Venatrack uses proprietary tools, to re create action sequences, e.g. a players eye view of a free kick,
or a linesman s view of an off side decision. The technology debuted on UK television during the
season 2008/9 as part of Setanta s live coverage ending, post the broadcaster s demise, at the 2009 FA
Cup Final at Wembley.
Importantly, Venatrack has recently been awarded prestigious contracts with two of the most well
respected organisations in the global football market, the Premier League Sky Sports and is set to
begin a three year supply contract for a wide variety of data and graphical material from August 2010.
Market Size
The nature of the technology means it can be used to provide extensive data analysis applications to
the broadcast, gaming, betting and coaching markets within the football industry. These markets are
estimated to be worth over £1 billion worldwide.
Beyond the contract with the Premier League, Venatrack anticipates achieving comparable contracts
with several of the top European leagues and their host broadcast partners, plus non EU leagues of
suitable size and value. It is currently in advanced negotiations with a second leading European
football association to equip its entire league with the system from the 2011/12 Season onwards. Other
commercial contracts include a long term agreement to provide

Self Regulated Learning
Self Regulated Learning
Learning is what most adults will do for a living in the 21st century. (Alfred Perlman). As he said,
there is no doubt that learning is a very important skill especially in modern society because of the
knowledge explosion and rapid developing of information technology. However, there are different
results with different learning methods. Good learning method can lead to success easier, on the
contrary, poor learning method means wasting time and energy. Therefor, self regulated learning is
presented by numerous eminent scholars as a excellent learning method. Self regulated learning is not
a mental ability or an academic performance skill; rather it is the self directive process by which
learners ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And many researches have proved that learning strategies can help students be more successful. Pei
Shi. W(2012) has found that most successful students use learning strategies more frequently and
effectively than unsuccessful students. We can explain the research in this way. A learning strategy is a
student s approach to learning and using information. However students who do not know or use good
learning strategies often learn passively and ultimately fail at study. Learning strategies are used by
students to help them understand information and solve problems. Successful students are good much
good at using it, meanwhile, learning strategy can make the students be more active and effective,
because the students know how to learn and how to use what they have learned to solve problems, and
lead them to success.
At last, motivation is another important component of self regulated learning to help students be more
successful in their academic endeavors. Motivation in common is defined as an internal process that
activates, guides, and maintains behavior over time. In other words motivation gets you going, keeps
you going, and determines where you re trying to go (Slavin 2000). Particular in self regulated
learning, motivation is the sprint to encourage students to drive their academic goals toward the finish
line directly, the sprint is initiative and voluntary. Motivation can help students

Cultural Facilitation
For my Cultural Facilitation Project I decided to recreate the Planning the Relief at Mammallapuram
activity. On October 14 around 3:20 PM I arranged a small group gathering with my friends Vikas,
Jackie, Wen, and Hannah at my house to help me with my project, the activity lasted until 5:00 PM.
Before starting the activity, I had my participants read the text we had to read for our class, Playful
Ambiguity and Political Authority at the the Large Relief at Mamallapuram by Pandma Kaima and
view the picture of the relief as we did for our class assignment. My purpose of doing this was so that
my participants could get an idea of what they were going to do the activity on rather than just telling

Hindus used these practices as a way to reflect on the stories of the gods such as Shiva and how they
protected the earth and helped the people. For instance, how the text describes Shiva using his hair to
break Ganga s fall so she wouldn t destroy the earth as she fell. Kamal writes, Shiva again intervened,
catching the falling river in a lock of his matter hair where she wandered for years until the energy of
her fall was spent. She trickled out gently, purifying and fructifying the earth. The multitudes of
creation witnessed and celebrated her descent. (RDR, pg 58) These practices also left an indent in
history providing people from different generations and generations ahead a view into the Hindu
culture and their beliefs. It has a large impact on the social web because it not only gives people a
visual from of Hindu culture but also stimulates them to be curious about it. The relief is a visual
structure of Hindu culture and beliefs and people who visit it begin to ponder behind the meaning of
the relief. As Padma Kamal writes in, Playful Ambiguity and Political Authority at the the Large
Relief at Mamallapuram people who visit the relief look at it with curiosity and those who have
studied it still don t have a full understanding behind the stories on the relief. She states that, It seems
quite likely that a single intellect even one trained to look for dhvani [puns] cannot exhaust the
panoply of references already located in this relief. The relief s unfinished state invites us to consider

Analysis Of Alan Turing s Views On Morality
I way society reacted to Alan Turning being gay, made me think about morally. Is there a set morally
or does society have a different sense of morally in different places and time? Does morally change
over time or just are idea of morally? But also I think if Alan Turing didn t have such a passionate
relationship with Christopher that to some would not have been morally right would we have crack
enigma. There the idea of morally, what people were supposed to be Alan a heterosexual or Pat who
was to intelligent for her society as she said it was considered a waste of time to give a girl a good
education and if you showed a degree of intellectual ability, people seemed to regard you with a
degree of suspicion (pg. 47 48), Patricia is going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Think of the people that kill and justify it with faith or love. Belief and emotions can change someone
ideas of morally and the big question is where is the line. When do we need to look at a problem like a
computer not a person. We sometimes need to turn off are fear and emotion and decide what is the
best way to save the most people. The problem is the train problem, if a train was going down a track
and you had to either flip the switch and kill one man or kill twenty most people would flip the switch.
But if you had the same case but instead of flipping the switch you had to push the man on the tracks
most could not do it. This is because we are emotional people, but we do have the practical and
analytical intelligence and can analyze I problem and see the math you lose one or twenty. But maybe
it would be I good things to turn off care for a second and push the man in front of the train because
wouldn t can save twenty men. This is why we are not computers, we have morally and emotions that
can we very helpful but sometimes hurtful. The train case one s care and lack of strength lead to
twenty deaths instead of one, so the question is can morally and emotional be a demerit. Would certain
times be better if we could think like computers, this an age old question and I believe no but, maybe
the other side has a point, the computer would have saved twenty men and killed

Essay about A Greater Intelligence Revealed in Dwellings
A Greater Intelligence Revealed in Dwellings
Linda Hogan writes in her preface to Dwellings that there is a terrestrial intelligence that lies beyond
our human knowing and grasping. This is the main point that is constantly reiterated throughout the
book, and this is the point that makes the book so important.
The trouble with the earth today is that humans have become too smart; so smart that they question
everything they once took for granted, and being unable to explain it, discount it as unreal. Science,
the very thing that has catapulted us into our present state of greatness, is also the human evil that has
isolated us from everything we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consider even our connotations with the word environment. Today, the word means nature, the wild,
the earth, our failing ecosystem. Is this really our environment? We are so removed from it that most
people cannot stand to be in it, except to view its anomalies like those at Yellowstone from isolation
tank like recreational vehicles.
Hogan takes things that happen in the human sphere and turns them inside out, showing us the
sociological innards that expose the enormous distance between what we know and what we think we
know. Her example of chimpanzees shows us something scientists have been trying to hide. In
teaching them sign language, we realize they have feelings, opinions, and know what s going on
around them. They aren t just like ignorant babies with an instinct to eat and mate. People frequently
make exceptions for their dogs. They believe their dogs understand what they tell them, that their dogs
care what kind of dog food they get, that they feel jealousy when the cat gets attention. Imagine if
people felt this kind of empathy and respect to every species on the planet. Hogan deliberately picks
out animals that are displeasing to most people, bats, snakes, wolves, maggots, ants, and writes about
them as living, loving animals just like the rest of us. They are aware of the process that we have long
forgotten.
I was thinking about birds the other day. There were several of them feeding at my bird

Integrated Marketing Research for KidZania
Part one
KidZania is a Mexican Company that was established in 1997 and started operating two years later in
Mexico City with La Ciudad de los Niños as its first business brand name. The name means The City
of Children in Spanish. The company was founded by current CEO, Xavier Lopez Ancona, and is still
a privately owned business. The brand name was later changed to KidZania when the company
opened up to franchising, which made the name simpler and internationally recognizable. KidZania is
one of its kind in the edutainment industry. It welcomes children aged between 4 and 16 years to work
as adults in a city full of jobs that are sponsored by real brand names. For example a kid can cook and
wrap sandwiches at McDonalds the same way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Zidan was the chosen one as he was already in the education entertainment field. Later on he took
responsibility for building the Kidzania Empire in Egypt. Egypt branch has its marketing plan set as
they believed that children in Egypt needed a different type of education that is entertaining. Their
target audiences are parents and children which means that they target a niche audience since they
offer an educational entertainment city for children only and not for a mass audience.
Advantages of using a decentralized system:
Concentrated managerial attention
In our case the CEO Lopez gives close attention to hiring the best managerial executive team to his
target. He was very attentive to their work and made sure to attend all openings and meeting
concerning the location
Rapid response to problems and opportunities
Managers of kidzania have the ability to act fast under duress in order to put the situation under
control before it gets out of hand.
Increase flexibility
All executive teams needs to invest their time and effort to decrease the burden of work among
employees
Disadvantages of using a decentralized system :
Ineffective decision making
Some decisions can have a negative impact on the organization therefore, it might affect the overall
performance of the organization.
Internal conflicts
Executive teams needs to make sure each employee is

you can show support for various causes? Or just a place to spend hours of your afternoon watching
the sunset? If so, Public Square Park, located at 10 Public Square, Nashville, Tennessee, should
become a priority destination. Nashville s Public Square Park is leaking with love, music, and
memories. Indubitably, from the vigils to the protests, endless love can be discovered throughout the

On these days, it is no surprise to be the only one in the park apart from the random groups of people
passing by or an individual playing with his/her dog in the lush green grass. Even though there are
several areas of grass around the park, the most immense section is located in the center of everything.
This area is incredibly emphasized because of how everything revolves around it; if anyone was to sit
right in the middle of it, he/she would be engulfed by the relaxing atmosphere. Sitting there would
permit anyone to see buildings a hundred times his/her size in any direction he/she would turn. For
instance, someone can see the well known AT T skyscraper, also known as the Batman Building,
which is more than thirty stories tall. At the bottom section of grass, there are two art structures; the art
structures seemingly match the configuration of a human from torso to head, but unlike actual
humans, these structures are transparent. Containing various colors of lucid lights inside the figurine,
the color of the lights depends on the day. Unlike actual people, these statues have one arm raced at all
times, pointing horizontally to the side. Around each art installation, there are four stone benches
surrounding them for people to sit on. When one walks past both structures, to the South, one will find
a black marble reflection pool containing water to stomp in, used by children and many adults.
Because of the smallness of the runway and the need for some coolness, especially on summer days,
many will start splashing in the fountains located at the southern part of the park. The water seems to
go to an anonymous beat because of its altitude going from short to tall, one step at a time. Ultimately,
the most known instrument of the park is the observation deck, made by two tan towers

Geographic Differences Between Canada And The United States
Although they bear some superficial similarities, the differences between America and Canada are
striking. There are many differences between Canada and the United States such as ethnicity,
geography, population, politics, and many more. Of all the differences the focus of this paper will be
geography. Geographical differences can be seen through the land of the United States and Canada.
The geographical land known as the United States was not formed in a day. It took many years to
formulate into what is seen today. For example, the Appalachian Mountains were formed when two
plates collided together causing a buckling in the Earth s crust. They now form a boundary of the east
coast to the remainder of the country. On the west coast, one can find the Rockies which were formed
by the westward shift of the North American tectonic plate and its collision with the Pacific tectonic
plate causing folding forces. The Rockies actually connect the United States to Canada. Another
example of the different geographical aspects of Canada and the United States is the Grand Canyon.
The Grand Canyon was created over many years by erosion from the Colorado River.

The Cordillera is located on the western portion of Canada near Alaska. The Niagara Falls, another
beautiful geographical difference between Canada and the United States were formed simply by large
torrents of water that were released from the melting ice, draining into what is now the Niagara River.
Niagara Falls is located in both the United States and Canada, but there is a big difference in the
scenery depending on which side one is viewing from. The water fell over the edge of the Niagara
Escarpment, a cliff at what is now Lewiston, New York. The force of the water wore away the rock
layers and Niagara Falls moved upstream, eventually reaching its present

Finding the right location is top priority for this project. The garage must not be far away from either
the shopping complex or the casinos. If it is the project may fail because it does not alleviate the
inconvenience of walking for the shoppers. The projected length of time for this project is 12 18
months. This takes the weather into account and gives ample time for any unforeseen problems with
suppliers, contractors, the city, and any permit problems.
Budget
The national average of a five level parking garage is approximately 145,000 square feet (Reed
Construction Data, 2012). The project will require the hiring of an architect and a contractor. The
architect duties will include creating a schematic design and draft floor plans, finalize drawings,
obtain necessary permits and serve as the development manager of the project. The contractor will
provide the services and materials need for the job and is responsible in hiring subcontractors. The
national average for the cost per square foot to build a five level parking garage is between $50 and
$70 (FixR, 2011). On average masons and excavators charge $70 per hour, electricians charge $65 to
$85 per hour and plumbers charge somewhere between $45 and $65 per hour, so this project will take
into consideration all of the hourly rates for all specialties (FixR, 2011). Taking from the national
average costs this project will cost $65 a square foot

Son of the Revolution Essay
Son of the Revolution
Liang Heng and Judith Shapiro s Son of the Revolution is a comprehensive story of Liang Heng s life
on growing up during the chaotic times of the Chinese revolution. The purpose of this novel was to
depict the horrors and hardships of life during the revolution period in china during Mao Zedong s

government was working for the good of the people of the country. However, as the book unfolds the
author reveals that the government is actually exploiting the people through misuse of people s trust.

father chose to take. However, even after the divorce, the Liang family still endured criticism because
once branded, no matter what, they would always be criticized. One of the ways to gain social status
was to marry into a family who was part of a party or of a high social status. So after divorcing his
wife for purely political reasons, Liang Heng s father married a woman who was both a party member
and a high ranking cadre in the a factory. This marriage was obviously based on Liang Heng s fathers
desperate need to gain social status rather than out of love. Marriage was also based on convenience to
both partners. When Liang Heng s father married for the third time it was because he needed someone
who could take care of the house and the children and in turn the woman had wanted to leave the
village she was living in and live in the city residence where so many goods were available, however
the process to transfer her teaching job from the village to the city was complicated. So she married to
Liang Heng s father which Liang suspected in hope to move to the city easily.

movement in attempt to increase agricultural and industrial production and modernize China s

What Does My Papa s Waltz Mean
When you read My Papa s Waltz, you might think it is about a boy and his father having fun just

is all one needs to discover the true meaning of this poem. The words will get into your soul and bring
sorrow and anger to the surface. The word whiskey (line 1) shows the father is a drinking man, and the
word dizzy (line 2) implies the amount of whiskey his father consumes sickens the boy. The boy is
young and fragile which plays in the lines of the poem death (line 3), battered (line 10), beat (line 13),

What I Chose Electrical Engineering
Well here it is, the senior project. The assignment everyone dreads, however, the assignment that must

hope is that I can be prepared for the future which is approaching rapidly.

with the implementation of Michael Faraday s Law, one of the fundamental laws in electrical

I chose electrical engineering for several reasons. One, I like to investigate stuff and figure out how it
all works, and I have always had an interest in computers which function on electricity. I also love
subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Algebra, and Trigonometry. I began considering engineering last
year when I took an elective, Intro to Engineering, it was comprised of hands on projects that I worked

Alfred Wegener Research Paper
Alfred Wegener s theory about the continents moving was continental drift. He based his argument
over the observation the many of the coastlines on opposite sides of the ocean fit together. This
observation and the idea that continents had once been joined, had been made previously. Abraham
Ortelius a Flemish mapmaker from and geographer in the 1500s Pointed out that the coasts of the
Americas and Europe and Africa matched and this suggested they had been torn apart from each other.
Alfred also noticed that fossils similar to each other were being found oceans apart. He tried to explain
this by hypothesizing that a very long time ago all of Earth s continents were joined and made one
giant supercontinent named Pangaea. His theory was that at

Polyethylene Glycol Research Paper
The polymer that I choose is polyethylene glycol (PEG). Polyethylene glycol is produced because of
the interaction with ethylene oxide with water, ethylene glycol or ethylene glycol oligomers. Some
cons of using polyethylene glycol are hypersensitivity, unexpected change in pharmacokinetic
behavior, and toxic side products. PEG is also a laxative that can also be used to prepare the bowels
before surgery. PEG is also used to slow the clearing of protein from the blood. This makes medicine
last longer in the body. Polyethylene glycol has also been used to help the healing of the spine inn
dogs and PEG can also help with nerve damage. PEG is most commonly used with the skin because it
has maintains it shape well, it is also pliable so doctors can put it in place before setting it with a green
LED light.
Density is how compact an object is. Density is the mass of the object divided by the volume. The
higher the density the more weight and pressure the object can withstand. One example of this is with
bulletproof glass. Bulletproof glass has a very high density, which make it withstand the impact of the
bullet. Density is important to biomedical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The density of PEG 35000 is 1.2 grams per cm^3 at 20 degrees Celsius. The melting point of PEG

elasticity of PEG is 750 pN. This is very high which means that PEG is a very elastic material. These
are the properties of PEG. Now the density of PGA is 1.53 grams per cm^3. Which is higher than PEG

Lastly the modulus of elasticity is 8.40 GPa. Based on the number PGA is a much better polymer

American Born Chinese Assimilation
The stories American Born Chinese by Gene Lang, Linh Lai by Rebecca Rosenblum and Tapka by
David Bezmozgis all follow the lives of immigrants and first generation born Canadians/Americans.
These stories are diverse both in the ethnicity of the characters and in their experiences. However, they
are all summative of the detriment of the immigrant experience, which is a universal struggle. These
stories, through their diversity and similarity, give the cumulative theme that assimilation often does
more harm than good, and that it widely contributes to isolation, loneliness and loss of identity.
American Born Chinese is a graphic novel about the Asian immigrant experience. It weaves the stories
of four characters into the lives of two first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Linh is constantly torn between Vietnamese and Canadian culture to the point where she begins to
question her identity and lose her ties to both cultures. Throughout the story, Lihn s name is never
used. She is instead referred to as either Jinny or Xing. However, neither name belongs to a certain
culture. Linh notices that All the white Jinnys have a different sound in their names from the ihh in
hers (Rosenblum 1). Xing is a name given to her by her employer to make her sound more foreign but
It s not a Vietnamese name. It s not a Canadian name. It s a no name (3). Linh is forced into a new
culture and that ultimately strips her of any identity. Linh is torn between two cultures by Koenburg
(her employer) and her uncle. Koenburg wants to preserve her Vietnamese identity for the integrity of
his restaurant. Her uncle, on the other hand wishes for her to leave her old identity behind and
assimilate to Canadian culture. This causes conflict for Linh as she is constantly being pulled in two
directions. An example of this would be when Linh gets a new pair of shoes. Her uncle approves of
the new Canadian shoes (7). However, Koenburg disapproves stating that [they] are not Vietnamese
(7). Linh is so conflicted between the two cultures and her two identities that she ends up feeling void
of any identity. This is reflected in her life in one of the movies she watches. The film cuts off before
the credits, denying the actors and contributors of their identities much like she is being denied of hers
(6). The story ends with Linh falling off a skateboard and hitting her head. Koenburg and her friend
Jimmy are both shouting Jinny and Xing, but She has no idea who they re talking to (12). Linh Lai is
an example of how assimilation can lead to isolation and how it can contribute to a loss of

The New U.s. Shipping Act Of 1984
The new U.S. Shipping Act, signed into law by President Reagan on March 10, 1984. The Shipping
Act of 1984 altered and replaced what was in the previous Shipping Act of 1916. Some of the things
which the Shipping Act of 1984 were different were that markets, industry, microeconomics, law, and
regulations were all different since the Act of 1916. The Shipping Act of 1916 made all conference
agreements subject to approval by the Federal Maritime Commission, or FMC for short. On August 3,
1981, Senator Gorton introduced a bill (S. 1593) to revise U.S. regulation of international liner
shipping. This bill was the forerunner of the current Shipping Act of 1984. Where the Shipping Act of

Although U.S. law has acknowledged the constructive role of conferences in the liner trades since the
Shipping Act of 1916, the American commitment to free trade and competition has led Congress to
disallow many features of international conferences. Most importantly, the Shipping Act of 1916
required shipping conferences transporting the foreign commerce of the United States to offer
membership to any liner carrier capable of engaging in such service. U.S. conferences are therefore
termed open conferences . A conference agreement had to meet a strict antitrust standard in order to be
approved. Deferred rebates were illegal and the freedom of carriers to tie.
S. 1593 provided for the following:
(1) Legalization of closed conferences.
(2) A broad scope of conference activities to enable carriers to discuss and fix prices and conditions of
service, pool earnings and traffic, allot ports, regulate sailings, limit the volume and character of cargo
carried, engage in exclusive working arrangements, enter into agreements to regulate and prevent
competition among themselves, and bring intermodal cargo transportation under the ambit of
permissible conference agreements.
(3) Use of loyalty contracts, except deferred rebates.
(4) Absolute antitrust immunity for ocean common carriers engaging in any activities described in (1),

Eulogy For Grandmother
Jesse sat cross legged on the floor in Nana s library with a perplexed frown as she studied the book on
her lap. She was only sixteen, but the circumstances of her life had made her wiser than her years. She
had been orphaned at the age of two and her grandmother, whom she adored and affectionately called
Nana, was the one person in her life she could always count on. Well, that was until just a couple of
months ago when Nana had died after a long struggle with cancer. She had been seventy six, but Jesse
had thought of her as the youngest, old person she knew. While living with Nana, she had grown into a
lanky teenager with long, straight black hair, usually pulled back into a ponytail, and eyes so

college with a doctorate in psychology. It had always been her plan to move back home and into her
grandmother s house after college. However, she had been offered an incredible opportunity in New
York that she just couldn t refuse. She knew her grandmother would be beaming with approval.
Funding had been made available for building and organizing a dozen women s shelters in New York.
The terms of the anonymous benefactor s offer had been very specific: The position is only available
to an individual qualified to provide professional counseling, who has the necessary skills to supervise
construction, and a desire to manage the operation of the shelters once completed. The unspoken, but
clearly necessary condition, was that they had to be willing to live in New York, the intended location

Chemical Weapons And Nuclear Weapons
Chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons have changed the way that people look at wars forever.
Since their implementation into the battlefield, it has been realized that these taboo weapons are ones
to be feared. Responsible for an extravagant amount of deaths over the past eighty years, chemical,
biological, and nuclear threats are not to take lightly. A nuclear weapon is an explosive device
designed to derive its destructive explosion via nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, or a combination of the
two processes . The implementation of nuclear weapons was a
Figure 1) serious game changer, and gave the upper hand to the more technologically advanced
countries because of the scientific efforts that go into developing these weapons, making the
possession of nuclear weapons a more apt problem for nations themselves, rather than non state actors,
such as terrorist groups. As shown in Figure 1, there has been a general steady decrease of the amount
of nuclear weapons held by the United States. This is where chemical and biological weapons differ
from nuclear weapons. Over the past years, chemical and biological weapons have seen more action,
and this can be attested to the significant difference in developing these weapons. Because chemical
and biological weapons are so easily acquired, it is more likely to see them being used by terrorist
groups rather than nations themselves. Because of the potential threats and easy obtainment of
biological weapons, they are potentially the

Analysis Of Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five
To Go or Not to Go? So it goes. Defining post modern works, can be daunting, but the main traits of
post modernism are embracing skepticism and overturning conventions. With this in mind, Kurt
Vonnegut explores war drawing parallels from his own past experience and depicts it through his
character Billy Pilgrim allowing the reader to see the dichotomy in reality and fiction, separating his
novel from the normal layout of a linear novel. Also, Slaughterhouse Five discusses the controversial
military action as a post modern novel, as it brings many perspectives to the bombing of Dresden and
modern warfare more broadly, while acting like a post modern novel that illustrates paradoxes.
Slaughterhouse Five illustrates the ideal of a post modern novel as it experiments with the ideas of
reality versus truth, free will, and frame breaking within the novel, to suggest a better understanding of
the effects of war. Vonnegut highlights the idea of post war truths, before post traumatic stress disorder
is identified in the 60s 70s a time where the Vietnam War is being opposed instead of encouraged.
Therefore, Vonnegut encompasses the ethics behind a society that highlights the idolization of war and
shuns those who threaten their illusion of the perfect war. Time after time, Vonnegut shows the reality
of the war as the characters in Slaughterhouse Five either glorify or scorn the war. Characters like,
Mary O Hare who scorns the war, You ll pretend you were men instead of babies, and

Date: 26th of August 2014
Partners: Luke Silveira and Tivanka Anandappa
Introduction:
This practical involved investigating the behaviour of equipotential and electric field lines between
two electrodes (which represented the a parallel plate capacitor). Furthermore the effect of adding a
conductor and an insulator between the two electrodes was explored to determine the electric potential
produced from these configurations.
The setup involved three of paper with low conducting teledeltos paper on top to allow the marker to
locate the potential at different points between the parallel plate. The power supply provided the
potential difference of 10V between the two plates and thus etched marks ... Show more content on

Results and Analysis
Part A:
Ideal parallel plate capacitor has electric field lines that are perpendicular to the plates surface
(between the two plates) and also perpendicular to the equipotential lines.
Diagram 1 (expected)
Uncertainties
This value was determined based on numerous measurements of the fluctuating voltages and 0.1V was
deemed a suitable value.
U(V) Multimeter: + 0.1V
Distances were measured using a 30 cm ruler with 1mm increments. Thus the uncertainty involved is
U(d) Distance: + 0.0005m
U(E)=U(V)/U(d) =0.1/10/0.005/0.168 =0.339 =+ 0.3 V/m
From linest, the total uncertainty =+ 3V/m
Theoretically calculated
The linear equation [2] E = ∆Vc/d can be used to calculate the theoretical electric field by subbing in
the values of ∆Vc as 10V and the

Essay Bosnia Civil War
The genocide in Bosnia started in 1992 and lasted until 1995 and it involved the massacre of the
Muslims by the Serbs . The United Nations and the Great Powers of the world failed Bosnia in
providing support and aid. To understand what went wrong during the crisis in Bosnia one must first
look at the situation that existed there before the conflict. Bosnia is made up of three different
ethnicities, the Muslims made up forty five percent of the population, the Serbs made up thirty three
percent of the population and the Croats consisted of the remaining sixteen percent . The major
difference between these ethnicities is not their language but their religions. The Muslims generally

This meant that the people within Bosnia were unable to practice collective or independent self
defense and it prevented the people from resisting the genocide (pg697) . All of this led up to a
horrible genocide of the Bosnian Muslims by the Serb population. The United Nations did what it
could to help but it ultimately failed. This essay will explore the reasons why it failed which include
the role of the great powers at the time, the institution of the U.N. and the failures of the peacekeeping
operations.
The Great Powers
Some of the problems within the operation in Bosnia came from the Western civilized world, which
included France, Britain and the United States. At this time in the world the powers of the world did
not want to get directly involved in conflicts unilaterally (pg6) . Instead they would participate in
peacekeeping missions approved by the United Nations (U.N.) in order to give the appearance that
they were getting involved in international affairs (pg6) . In order to keep up with the appearances
they would give the illusion of being involved by setting up safe areas but then failing to provide the
resources to protect them (pg35) . The Western powers failed during the Bosnian civil war because
they believed that countries would be able to handle crises in the aftermath of the Cold War (pg79) .
This was not the case, instead on monitoring the situation before it became out of

The Key Ideas of the Cosmological Argument for the Existence of God
A) The cosmological argument is to prove the existence of god. In this type of argument we are
looking at cause and not design. This type of argument is an aposteriori argument because it is based
upon experience. Thomas Aquinas puts the key ideas into 3 ways. First way is, motion/change.
Nothing can move by itself or change itself. The first thing to have moved must have been moved by
something else and that thing therefore must be God.
It is certain and evident to our senses, that in the world some things are in motion. Now whatever
moves is moved by another. It is therefore impossible that, a thing should be both mover and ... Show

The third way he describes God is by saying that God is necessary and he has the quality of aseity.
The third way is taken from possibility and necessity. We find in nature things that are possible to be
and not to be, since they are found to be generated, and to be corrupted, and consequently, it is
possible for them to be and not to be. Therefore if everything an not be then at one time there was
nothing in existence. (And) it would have been impossible for anything to have begun to exist and
thus even nothing would be in existence, which is absurd. Therefore we cannot but admit the existence
of some being having of itself its own necessity, and not receiving it from another, but rather causing
in others their necessity. This all men speak of God .
He is saying that all living creatures depend on something else for its survival. He says that God is not
contingent but the necessary being. If he didn t exist then we wouldn t exist. F C Copleston also agrees
that there has to be a necessary being.
We do not explain the presence here and now of beings capable of existing or not existing. Therefore
we must affirm the existence of a being which is absolutely necessary and completely

My Understanding Of The Lincoln Electric Company s...
My understanding of the Lincoln Electric Company s culture
An organization s culture consists of unseen elements such as assumptions and values that affect
organizational life, it is the personality of the company. At Lincoln Electric, even though they never
had a formal organization chart, the culture is an extremely significant aspect of everyday life and a
powerful asset; its unique and hard to imitate conceptualization gives the firm an undeniable
competitive advantage and insures maximum flexibility.
Over the decades and since it was first created, the ongoing guidance and encouragement of the
management towards their employees made Lincoln s expansion possible to a global level. The ideas
and philosophy of the founders are still at the core of the organizational culture because they strongly
supported the company in its initial stages and helped distinguish it from others. Thus, by providing a
competitive advantage, these values were retained as part of the corporate culture and were taught to
new members as the right way to do business.
The principles and ideas in which James F. Lincoln believed and that brought him his success are still
those that drive the current Board of Directors and employees every day.
His vision of the customer s needs as the raison d etre for every company was a key to a better growth
of his organization; it remains at the center of everybody s attention and is reflected in Lincoln s

A Brief Note On The First Time Or Recreational Paddler
For the first time or recreational paddler there is perhaps nothing scarier than having your canoe or
kayak capsize. Sometimes it is caused by the incautious tilting their boat a little further than it is meant
to go, but very often it is caused be a force beyond your control. Waves or wake caused by wind,
swell, or boats very often lead to a capsized boat and possibly a paddler in distress. There are a few
techniques to help prevent this so you can enjoy your day on the water. Boat position or angle is a very
important factor in whether you will be knocked over or the wake will roll passed you. When a wake

In a canoe you have the ability to lower your center of gravity by dropping from your seat and
kneeling on the floor. These techniques will help your paddling abilities and give you an enjoyable
experience on the water rather than a terrifying one. It is also important to plan ahead and be cautious
of where you travel to avoid large waves and wake all together. Make sure to get a weather report. As
a novice paddler it is also important to avoid heavily trafficked boat channels. On windy days paddle
in sheltered coves and creeks, and always where a life jacket.
It s amazing to think that what started as a functional and vital form of transportation, is today one of
the world s most popular water sports and an Olympic activity. But that s exactly how canoeing and

kayak has a closed deck (apart from the hole you sit in) and is powered using a double bladed paddle.
A canoe, on the other hand, is an open boat in which you can either stand up or kneel, and is powered
using a single bladed paddle. Many people use the term canoeing to describe the general sport, not to
define what type of boat is used, so that s what we ll do here. Canoeing s popularity is probably due to
the huge range of activities available within the sport. It caters for

New Medi New Digital Age Living in a new digital age, we are seeing more computerized devices like smartphone and computers replacing old media technologies like newspaper, radio and television. Characteristics of new media as being digital, computerized, interactive and hypersexual have shaped new forms of communication. Meanwhile, the ability of new media to merge different forms of media technologies, industries and services so called convergence has also created unprecedented transformations in the society. In this paper, I argue that new media has contributed to all aspects of the paradigm shift. As it is constantly remediating its predecessors, it shapes new modes of subjectivity and changes the way we perceive knowledge. Although these changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, new media is reproducing itself through different old technologies. Not only new media is remediating its predecessors, it also shapes new modes of subjectivity. Subjectivity means the process of being a subject; it refers to who we are to how we react to the world. The emergence of new media has unprecedentedly change the subjectivity of different things. For example, we are experiencing new forms of textual experiences and representations such as genre, form and consumption. There are new forms of embodiment and identity that change how we perceive ourselves and our bodies. Organization also changes the rules of ownership, control, regulation. These subjectivities are all being reshaped due to the change of our relationship with technologies. The example discussed in lecture is subjectivity related to selfies. Media technologies has created selfies which are these self portraits taken by phones that gets uploaded to social media. It is a convergence of technology, interaction and body. Selfies become a way to call to the world about who we are and a commanding representation of self. Because the immediacy, ubiquity and ephemerality of the social media, selfies have embodied these characteristics and become instant, common and short lived. The characteristics of new media is shaping the subjectivity of selfies. Moreover, devices functions are more determinative than aesthetic conventions. As he said, there is no doubt that learning is a very important skill especially in modern society because of the knowledge explosion and rapid developing of information technology. However, there are different results with different learning methods. Good learning method can lead to success easier, on the contrary, poor learning method means wasting time and energy. Therefor, self regulated learning is presented by numerous eminent scholars as a excellent learning method. And many researches have proved that learning strategies can help students be more successful. Pei Shi. W(2012) has found that most successful students use learning strategies more frequently and effectively than unsuccessful students. We can explain the research in this way. A learning strategy is a student s approach to learning and using information. However students who do not know or use good learning strategies often learn passively and ultimately fail at study. Learning strategies are used by students to help them understand information and solve problems. Successful students are good much good at using it, meanwhile, learning strategy can make the students be more active and effective, because the students know how to learn and how to use what they have learned to solve problems, and lead them to success. At last, motivation is another important component of self regulated learning to help students be more successful in their academic endeavors. Motivation in common is defined as an internal process that activates, guides, and maintains behavior over time. In other words motivation gets you going, keeps you going, and determines where you re trying to go (Slavin 2000). Particular in self regulated learning, motivation is the sprint to encourage students to drive their academic goals toward the finish line directly, the sprint is initiative and voluntary. Belief and emotions can change someone ideas of morally and the big question is where is the line. When do we need to look at a problem like a computer not a person. We sometimes need to turn off are fear and emotion and decide what is the best way to save the most people. The problem is the train problem, if a train was going down a track and you had to either flip the switch and kill one man or kill twenty most people would flip the switch. But if you had the same case but instead of flipping the switch you had to push the man on the tracks most could not do it. This is because we are emotional people, but we do have the practical and analytical intelligence and can analyze I problem and see the math you lose one or twenty. But maybe it would be I good things to turn off care for a second and push the man in front of the train because wouldn t can save twenty men. This is why we are not computers, we have morally and emotions that can we very helpful but sometimes hurtful. The train case one s care and lack of strength lead to twenty deaths instead of one, so the question is can morally and emotional be a demerit. Essay about A Greater Intelligence Revealed in Dwellings A Greater Intelligence Revealed in Dwellings Linda Hogan writes in her preface to Dwellings that there is a terrestrial intelligence that lies beyond our human knowing and grasping. This is the main point that is constantly reiterated throughout the book, and this is the point that makes the book so important. The trouble with the earth today is that humans have become too smart; so smart that they question everything they once took for granted, and being unable to explain it, discount it as unreal. Science, the very thing that has catapulted us into our present state of greatness, is also the human evil that has isolated us from everything we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We are so removed from it that most people cannot stand to be in it, except to view its anomalies like those at Yellowstone from isolation tank like recreational vehicles. Hogan takes things that happen in the human sphere and turns them inside out, showing us the sociological innards that expose the enormous distance between what we know and what we think we know. Her example of chimpanzees shows us something scientists have been trying to hide. In teaching them sign language, we realize they have feelings, opinions, and know what s going on around them. They aren t just like ignorant babies with an instinct to eat and mate. People frequently make exceptions for their dogs. They believe their dogs understand what they tell them, that their dogs care what kind of dog food they get, that they feel jealousy when the cat gets attention. Imagine if people felt this kind of empathy and respect to every species on the planet. Hogan deliberately picks out animals that are displeasing to most people, bats, snakes, wolves, maggots, ants, and writes about them as living, loving animals just like the rest of us. They are aware of the process that we have long forgotten. I was thinking about birds the other day. There were several of them feeding at my bird ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On these days, it is no surprise to be the only one in the park apart from the random groups of people passing by or an individual playing with his/her dog in the lush green grass. Even though there are several areas of grass around the park, the most immense section is located in the center of everything. This area is incredibly emphasized because of how everything revolves around it; if anyone was to sit right in the middle of it, he/she would be engulfed by the relaxing atmosphere. Sitting there would permit anyone to see buildings a hundred times his/her size in any direction he/she would turn. For instance, someone can see the well known AT T skyscraper, also known as the Batman Building, which is more than thirty stories tall. At the bottom section of grass, there are two art structures; the art structures seemingly match the configuration of a human from torso to head, but unlike actual humans, these structures are transparent. Containing various colors of lucid lights inside the figurine, the color of the lights depends on the day. Unlike actual people, these statues have one arm raced at all times, pointing horizontally to the side. Around each art installation, there are four stone benches surrounding them for people to sit on. When one walks past both structures, to the South, one will find a black marble reflection pool containing water to stomp in, used by children and many adults. Because of the smallness of the runway and the need for some coolness, especially on summer days, many will start splashing in the fountains located at the southern part of the park. The water seems to go to an anonymous beat because of its altitude going from short to tall, one step at a time. Ultimately, the most known instrument of the park is the observation deck, made by two tan towers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many differences between Canada and the United States such as ethnicity, geography, population, politics, and many more. Of all the differences the focus of this paper will be geography. Geographical differences can be seen through the land of the United States and Canada. The geographical land known as the United States was not formed in a day. It took many years to formulate into what is seen today. For example, the Appalachian Mountains were formed when two plates collided together causing a buckling in the Earth s crust. They now form a boundary of the east coast to the remainder of the country. On the west coast, one can find the Rockies which were formed by the westward shift of the North American tectonic plate and its collision with the Pacific tectonic plate causing folding forces. This takes the weather into account and gives ample time for any unforeseen problems with suppliers, contractors, the city, and any permit problems. Defining post modern works, can be daunting, but the main traits of post modernism are embracing skepticism and overturning conventions. With this in mind, Kurt Vonnegut explores war drawing parallels from his own past experience and depicts it through his character Billy Pilgrim allowing the reader to see the dichotomy in reality and fiction, separating his novel from the normal layout of a linear novel. Also, Slaughterhouse Five discusses the controversial military action as a post modern novel, as it brings many perspectives to the bombing of Dresden and modern warfare more broadly, while acting like a post modern novel that illustrates paradoxes. Slaughterhouse Five illustrates the ideal of a post modern novel as it experiments with the ideas of reality versus truth, free will, and frame breaking within the novel, to suggest a better understanding of the effects of war. Vonnegut highlights the idea of post war truths, before post traumatic stress disorder is identified in the 60s 70s a time where the Vietnam War is being opposed instead of encouraged. Therefore, Vonnegut encompasses the ethics behind a society that highlights the idolization of war and shuns those who threaten their illusion of the perfect war. The major difference between these ethnicities is not their language but their religions. The Muslims generally practice Islam, the Serbs were traditionally Orthodox and ... This meant that the people within Bosnia were unable to practice collective or independent self defense and it prevented the people from resisting the genocide (pg697) . All of this led up to a horrible genocide of the Bosnian Muslims by the Serb population. The United Nations did what it could to help but it ultimately failed. This essay will explore the reasons why it failed which include the role of the great powers at the time, the institution of the U.N. and the failures of the peacekeeping operations. The Great Powers Some of the problems within the operation in Bosnia came from the Western civilized world, which included France, Britain and the United States. At this time in the world the powers of the world did not want to get directly involved in conflicts unilaterally (pg6) . Instead they would participate in peacekeeping missions approved by the United Nations (U.N.) in order to give the appearance that they were getting involved in international affairs (pg6) . In order to keep up with the appearances they would give the illusion of being involved by setting up safe areas but then failing to provide the resources to protect them (pg35) . • 33. The Key Ideas of the Cosmological Argument for the... The Key Ideas of the Cosmological Argument for the Existence of God A) The cosmological argument is to prove the existence of god. In this type of argument we are looking at cause and not design. This type of argument is an aposteriori argument because it is based upon experience. Thomas Aquinas puts the key ideas into 3 ways. First way is, motion/change. Nothing can move by itself or change itself. The first thing to have moved must have been moved by something else and that thing therefore must be God. It is certain and evident to our senses, that in the world some things are in motion. Now whatever moves is moved by another. It is therefore impossible that, a thing should be both mover and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third way he describes God is by saying that God is necessary and he has the quality of aseity. The third way is taken from possibility and necessity. We find in nature things that are possible to be and not to be, since they are found to be generated, and to be corrupted, and consequently, it is possible for them to be and not to be. Therefore if everything an not be then at one time there was nothing in existence. (And) it would have been impossible for anything to have begun to exist and thus even nothing would be in existence, which is absurd. Therefore we cannot but admit the existence of some being having of itself its own necessity, and not receiving it from another, but rather causing in others their necessity. This all men speak of God . He is saying that all living creatures depend on something else for its survival. He says that God is not contingent but the necessary being. If he didn t exist then we wouldn t exist. F C Copleston also agrees that there has to be a necessary being. We do not explain the presence here and now of beings capable of existing or not existing. Therefore we must affirm the existence of a being which is absolutely necessary and completely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My understanding of the Lincoln Electric Company s culture An organization s culture consists of unseen elements such as assumptions and values that affect organizational life, it is the personality of the company. At Lincoln Electric, even though they never had a formal organization chart, the culture is an extremely significant aspect of everyday life and a powerful asset; its unique and hard to imitate conceptualization gives the firm an undeniable competitive advantage and insures maximum flexibility. Over the decades and since it was first created, the ongoing guidance and encouragement of the management towards their employees made Lincoln s expansion possible to a global level. The ideas and philosophy of the founders are still at the core of the organizational culture because they strongly supported the company in its initial stages and helped distinguish it from others. Thus, by providing a competitive advantage, these values were retained as part of the corporate culture and were taught to new members as the right way to do business. The principles and ideas in which James F. Lincoln believed and that brought him his success are still those that drive the current Board of Directors and employees every day. His vision of the customer s needs as the raison d etre for every company was a key to a better growth of his organization; it remains at the center of everybody s attention and is reflected in Lincoln s policy to at all times price on the ...
