What Is Discipline Essay
Do you really understand what it means to discipline someone? How do you define discipline? Does it
mean helping someone get on the right track or is it about casting judgment or punishing a person for
doing something wrong? Certainly discipline is misunderstood. In this article I want to give you a
view of discipline that you may not have thought of and explain how to implement it with your team.
Observations about discipline:
Avoiding confrontation Many people don t like to discipline their employees because they view it as a
form of confrontation which may lead to conflict. Most of us try to avoid conflict and therefore put off
any communication that may trigger conflict.
Discipline is perceived as judgment and punishment But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the Greek definition, it s about helping someone use their energy efficiently to become more
effective in their job.
Discipline saves time and energy It makes more sense to take action and discipline someone than it
does to waste time and energy thinking about it.
There are five progressive stages of discipline that can be used with individuals and help a team use its
energy more effectively. The process begins with simple communication and then builds in intensity
of action and involvement by the manager until the person acquires the targeted skill or finds a new
job. These progressive stages are designed to help the employee develop into an effective team
member. They are not designed to judge or punish an employee. The manager must exercise
compassion and interest in the welfare of the individual.
1. Communicate It s imperative that an employee understands completely what is expected of him.
What are his responsibilities and goals? How are they to be carried out? In what time frame must they
be completed? How will their performance be

The Business Case For The Public Cloud
Enterprises around the world would be wise to heed 50 Cent s mantra Get Rich or Die Tryin when
considering the implications of not getting to the public cloud. We at Cocolevio, an implementation
partner of Mooor Insights Strategy, estimate that over 50% of IT spend will be going to public cloud
vendors such as Amazon Web Services or SaaS vendors like Salesforce.com Inc. by 2019. This means
there is around a $140B opportunity in this space. The cost savings, reduction in capital spending,
speed to market, flexibility and global access derived from public cloud mean those enterprises that
effectively use the public cloud are better positioned to Get Rich than their competitors who have
higher cost structures and less nimble IT platforms. This trend is only set to continue as the business
case for moving to public cloud only becomes more compelling, with the traditional arguments against
public cloud around security and lack of control diminishing. Vendor lock in will continue to be a
concern but we see many companies willing to sacrifice a bit of lock in for the many, many benefits of
public cloud.
With this in mind, it is prudent for any CIO to have a migration strategy to the public cloud. It is now
generally accepted that at least some workload and functions of an organization will need to be moved
in order to be competitive. Recently, the poster child for Amazon Inc., Netflix Inc. announced that
they closed their door on their last datacenter. Although by no

Tupac Informative Speech
Who do you think of when you think of old hip hop/rap artist? Generally many people think of Tupac
Shakur. Many know him as the Rap God. Tupac was known for putting the truth in his songs, not only
about the streets but also about the struggles of being poor. He sent messages though his songs to the
listeners. Tupac was making a change in the world, but due to an unaccounted event things slowly
turned around. However many people think he is still alive, do you? Tupac s mother, Afeni Shakur
was in jail while pregnant with Tupac, she had originally named him Makaveli Shakur. She later gave
birth in Lesane Parish Crooks in The Bronx, New York City on June 16, 1971. Later Afeni changed

sister and him went gambling where a little later he got in a fight. That night after the fight Tupac met

just got Tupac to calm down and they started jamming out to music. Suge brought up his future and
how he could make Millions if he stayed with Death Row. Tupac said he would think about it, as they
stopped by a red light. Suge and him continued to drive to the club and stopped at a intersection on
East Flamingo Road. A white Cadillac pulled beside with tinted windows, the window rolled down a

Government Intervention and Internet Regulation
Government Intervention and Internet Regulation Internet is a global network that connects millions
of computers together and allows people to communicate and share information with each other in an
effective and easy way. It has become the most widely used means of communications of recent times.
The number of U.S. homes with one or more personal computers increased by 16% (in 1995) to about
38 million households, up from 33 million in 1994 and 25 million in 1993 (Fox 9). Along with that
staggering stat, the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science has reported that 95%
of the public has access to the Internet ( Free Essay ). Internet is filled with a lot of information on
almost every topic in the world and anyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So in such circumstances, we must have some procedures for tackling illegal content on the Internet
and some mechanisms for allowing end user control of what is accessed on the Internet (Darlington).
It is argued that the genesis of the Internet was such that it embraced and fostered a new spirit of
freedom, openness and experimentation and that these values must remain an integral feature of the
Internet and if any form of regulation is introduced then the whole essence of the internet will be lost
and people would not be able to access the vast resources of information that it has to offer
(Darlington). The opponents of regulation also argue that any form of internet regulation is against the
individual s rights to freedom of expression and the concept of net neutrality because in such a
scenario a person may not be able to choose the content he wants to view. However, it should be
clearly understood that society is greater than a single person and if such rights of freedom cause harm
to the values of the society as a whole, then it is perhaps the responsibility of the government to
intervene and restrict the rights given to every individual in order to maintain those values.
There is offensive content on the internet , so this justifies the use of internet restrictions (Darlington).
Internet is filled with explicit content. There are thousands of websites that contain pornographic
materials which is considered inappropriate for

Essay Acme Manufacturing Wan Design
Acme Manufacturing WAN Design
Acme Manufacturing is a growing company that is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Recently the
company has acquired a manufacturing plant in China and multiple offices in the United States. Acme
is now in need of a WAN solution to connect their many offices. All new equipment will be used to
build the LANs at the offices. Then the LANs will be connected to the WAN to allow for easier
communication and data transfer between the offices.
The headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia will be home to corporate operations, marketing department,
administrative staff, and the accounting department. This branch of the company needs a strong
network since it is the center of the company. A fiber optic line will be used as ... Show more content

The branch offices will use a VPN to connect to the China plant s LAN, and the China plant can use a
VPN to connect if the satellite connection is lost. All sites being interconnected will allow for easier
communications at the weekly meeting with video conferencing (Regan, 2004).
The telecommunication system that is recommended for Acme Manufacturing is VoIP. VoIP would
provide many benefits such as enhanced productivity, decreased cost for the wiring setup, and lower
maintenance costs. With VoIP system the same cables used for the network can also be used for the
telecommunication system, lowering installation costs. VoIP would allow video conferencing and
enhance communication during the weekly meetings (Regan, 2004).
A class B network can be used for this company using IP addresses in the range 128.1.0.1 to
191.255.255.254. Subnets and a VLAN will be used to logically group the different departments. This
will allow all the sales departments to communicate as if they were in the same location. Although
departments are not physically grouped together, grouping them into logical networks would provide
increased performance. A VPN allows for a connection through a private tunnel on a public network,
typically the Internet. This allows for communication on the WAN as long as Internet access in
available (Regan, 2004).

My Journey With Illness
I soon realized that no journey carries one far unless, it goes an equal distance into the world within.
was said by Lillian Smith. In my life this translates to my journey with illness. When the journey
began, I was 12 and diagnosed with uveitis, which is inflammation in the eye. The journey from then
until now is comparable to wandering in a forest. The forest starts off dark with little disjointed spots
of light. I did not know I was going into the forest then, I only knew something was happening and it
was supposed to stop if I did all the eye drops. It did not happen that way, instead, I walked into the
forest that would change me and help me discover myself. The time it started was similar to being
pushed into the forest with another diagnosis of glaucoma and the beginning of juvenile idiopathic
arthritis. I was pushed into the forest and looked for all of the speckles of light. It was like grasping at
something that I could not quite understand. I just knew they would take me somewhere. They were
appealing with shifts in the light as breezes came through, and I followed them and their magnetism. I
now know the specks of light were the pieces of who I am with the illnesses, as well as beyond them.
As time moved forward, the lights changed. Sometimes there were more of them, or I was not paying
attention to them. I thought I was stuck in a dark forest and the lights meant nothing, they were the
fact that I could and still can see. I thought all I would ever be was a sick and that was all I was
capable of. A diagnosis was the definition of who I was and I thought until I went into remission, if I
ever go into remission, I could not do anything but that. I stayed in that mindset for about a year, until
I moved on from middle school to high school. More lights began appearing and I grasped onto them
slowly, but I was reaching for them and finding who I was. I found people that helped me discover
what I could do with my illnesses or that they existed but, I could be more than that. Around my
sophomore year I started feeling a little worse which pushed me back into the forest, a little bit, but it
also enabled me to find out more about who I truly am. The lights seemed to be more abundant and

Lab On A Chip Lab Report
Introduction The research is specifically carried out on Particle Sorting using the interplay between the
Travelling Surface Acoustic Wave and the Stationary Surface Acoustic Wave. Sorting individual
cells/particles of interest from a heterogeneous population has been of critical importance in biological
studies and clinical applications, such as single cell sequencing, rare cell isolation, and drug screening.
The introduction of lab on a chip (i.e.,
small sized analytical devices) has spurred steadily increasing interest and research efforts in the
microfluidics discipline (upon which lab on a chip devices are based). The promise of such lab on a

Displacement of acoustic waves is also helpful in creating particle mobility required for separation of
particles in a static fluid volume. In batch systems, with very small samples in contact with a
substrate, separation has been shown using acoustic streaming in droplets, in an open chamber and in
a channel.
Description of Research Methodology In this research we will examine the use of acoustic radiation
forces alone for particle separation in a system, and demonstrate that the controllability of this type of
acoustic force allows highly specific separation. SAW is generated by a spatially periodic electrical
field to create a resonant condition on a piezoelectric substrate.
Further, in TSAW a wave travels through the substrate and in case of SSAW, there are 2 counter
propagating wave. We will utilise both TSAW and SSAW; the former acts to push the particles across
the chamber, the latter to capture particles in bands of minimum force potential. The system will
consist of a microfluidic chamber, cast in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), and bonded onto a lithium
niobate, LiNbO3 (LN) piezoelectric substrate.
The device will be held under a microscope using a frame. The

John Dewey s Theory Of Evolution
Abstract
This research is on the background of John Dewey (1859 1952), his theories, his influences and the
impact that his research had on the educational systems across the United States. Functionalism,
Pragmatism and Individualism are looked at, as well as Darwin s Theory of Evolution. It also goes
into the
impact that Dewey s theories had on the educational system as it is viewed during John Dewey s
lifetime
and today.
John Dewey (1859 1952) was born in Burlington, Vermont in 1859. He graduated from the University
of
Vermont in 1879 and received his PhD from John Hopkins University in 1884. Dewey was a leading
figure
in psychology, leaning mainly toward functionalism and behaviorism. The Reflex Arc Concept in
Psychology, (1896)by John Dewey, is considered the major statement in the functionalist school of
thought. Although his main interest was educational psychology, Dewey was a voice for many liberal
causes. Today his writings are still used by the more progressive factions in the United States. Because
Dewey s writings and philosophies are so extensive, I am going to concentrate on his influence related
to
the educational system.
Dewey was partial to Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution and the writings of William James. You
can
see the influence of Darwin s philosophies in John Dewey s educational works. He leaned heavily on
the
belief that people adapt to their environments and learn to function within them. Although the term

Mean Girls Psychology
Mean Girls is a film about a homeschooled girl, Cady Heron, who has moved to Evanston from Africa
and has been enrolled at a public school, called North Shore High School. She gets to experience what
a public school is like and how there are different cliques that exist in society. Unexpectedly, Cady is
invited to join the clique, called The Plastics, which consists of Regina, Gretchen, and Karen, and she
quickly acquires how a girl should behave and appear. Later on, Cady understands how they received
this name based on the girls behaviors and status in society. The movie centers on the social divisions

A moral holiday is a time where social norms are broken. In Mean Girls, Halloween is portrayed as a
moral holiday since the girls dressed as sluts. It was a special occasion where the girls wore lingerie
and animal ears, which is not an everyday outfit. Social norms are unwritten rules of behavior that one
is expected to follow in specific situations. Cady has a difficult time adjusting to the social norms in
the public school. As stated in the movie, I had never lived in a world where adults didn t trust me, she
says. For example, adults always yelled at her, and teachers told her not to read ahead or eat in the
classroom. She assumed everyone was friendly, but that happened to be untrue. In addition, there are a
variety of social norms that the Plastics have to follow. After Regina invites Cady to join, Gretchen
describes all of the rules that Cady must follow in order to continue to hang out with them and sit at
their table. The rules include: only being able to wear a pony tail once a week, not being able to wear a
tank top two days in a row, must wear a pink shirt on Wednesday, and can only wear jeans or track
pants on Friday. If any one of the girls break the rule, then she is kicked out of the table and has to go
find another group. Mores, which is a type of norm, is a serious violation in society. An example of
this was when Regina was in a relationship with Aaron,

The Models Have Different Approaches Towards The Concept...
Nursing Both models have different approaches towards the concept of nursing. Leininger presented
nursing as activities directed toward assisting, enabling, and supporting with the cultural beliefs and
values of the recipient of care (Masters, 2014, p. 69). Nursing is a general profession which includes
culturally congruent care; nurses provide care for members of diverse cultures. According to Jarošová
(2014), nursing is presented by three types of activities which are culturally congruent with the needs
and values of clients (p. 49). However, Roy defines nursing as using the four adaptive modes, promote
adaptation for individuals and groups, thus contributing to health, quality of life, and dying with
dignity (McEwen Wills, 2014, p. 179). Jarošová, (2014) explained that nursing focuses on adaptive
abilities of individual, families, and communities. By manipulating focal and contextual stimuli and
decreasing the influence of residual stimuli, nursing strives to reduce ineffective responses and
promote adaptation of individual in health and illness (p. 54). The metaparadigm concepts are well
defined in these two models. However, there are some similarities and differences found between the
two models. The relationship among the concepts is evident and is related to one another, and these
are consistent with the model s scientific assumptions. However, in philosophical assumptions, the
definition and relationship of the concepts are not clearly consistent.

Kansas Anymore Descriptive Writing
We are not in Kansas Anymore
It s not fair, I huffed, I don t want to leave! This is my home! My mother s brown eyes stared back at
me, filled with a knowledge and understanding I had yet to possess and would lack for years to come.
She left the barren living room, leaving behind a trace of the fruity perfume she always wore. It was
futile to argue; the boxes were packed and ready to be loaded onto the trucks in a few hours. Having
nowhere else to sit, I descended to the floor. The light oak wooden floorboards that used to be clothed
in rugs were now naked. In the next month, new pairs of feet would walk on these boards.
My foot started a steady tapping rhythm on the floor, and I could no longer stay seated. Time was not

My grandfather taught me how to sand the walls, readying them for paint. It took hours of hard
manual labor sanding every inch of the walls before they were ready to be painted. In preparation for

mom taught me how to hold the brush, and I could still feel her patient hands guiding my first strokes.
I snapped back into reality and opened my door. I stepped out into the narrow hallway, and I rested my
hand on the door knob. The door was almost closed when I had a sudden urge to sneak one last glance
at my room. Not being able to let go of my room, I cracked the door open again. My eyes rested on the
skeleton of the room, and I gently closed the door.
Needing to see more of the house, I started descending the curved staircase. I stopped halfway down
the staircase and savored the view. My eyes wandered around to the rooms that I would no longer use.

This Side of Paradise and The Great Gatsby Essay
F. Scott Fitzgerald s writings largely focus on the American aristocracy during the 1920s. The 20s
became alternatively known as the Jazz Age, a term coined by Fitzgerald with connotations
encompassing the prosperity, frivolity, and decadence of the upper class. The atmosphere and mindset
of lavish excess are preserved in the plots and characters of Fitzgerald s writings. Although Fitzgerald
s protagonists are wealthy, there is a noticeable distinction between those who come from old money
and those who are considered new money . Amory Blaine, of This Side of Paradise, and Jay Gatsby, of
The Great Gatsby, exemplify this difference.

With striking similarity in both appearance and personality, it seems that Amory has inherited from his
mother every trait, except the stray inexpressible few, that made him worthwhile (3). Fitzgerald is
pointing out the meaningless of the trappings of the upper class. Although Amory and Beatrice are rich
and beautiful, these traits do not make them worthwhile. It is the characteristics that Amory develops
on his own, without Beatrice s influence, that redeem him.
Gatsby, on the other hand, develops into the person he is by recognizing the kind of person he does not
want to be a bourgeois, like his parents. He rejects them as shiftless and unsuccessful farm people
(The Great Gatsby 104) and yearns to move up from the middle class he is born into. After seeing
millionaire Dan Cody s yacht, Gatsby strive to achieve all the beauty and glamour in the world (106)
that the yacht represents to him. Gatsby s desire to attain the wealth and glamour of the upper class
leads him to create the personage Jay Gatsby, his Platonic conception of himself. He goes about
transforming himself methodically, practicing things such as elocution, poise, and how to attain it (GG

substantiality of a man (107). As an outsider, Gatsby s perception of the upper class is romanticized

The Boston Massacre
From the beginning of history, the events that have happened have been created by something, these
events have caused emotions to lift and tensions to come to a snapping point. The Boston Massacre
was defiantly not an exception; America was feeling all the pressure of what the British was doing to
them and was completely ready to break away from the rule. However, the separation between the two
parties would not come without a fight on both sides. The British did not feel the American s had the
right to separate from them under the British rule. Although, the Americans were fed up of the taxes

The Boston Massacre as history shows us was the explosion in history that led American s and the
British into the American Revolution. However, the events that lead to the happening of the Boston
Massacre, put the British soldiers at a disadvantage that day. However, the British Army had occupied
the city, but they were just following the orders given to them by the British Parliament. They did not
grasp the pressure that the colonist was being put under and if they did, they did not fully understand
the consequences or it never crossed their minds.
Boston had withstood the life with British soldiers before the Boston Massacre in 1770 for two years.
The British Army landed on the shores of Boston in October of 1768. The citizens of the city had
endured the everyday life of the soldiers as they rose in the morning, trained throughout the day and
went back to their tents in the evening. Not only did they see them every day they communicated with
them in town when the soldiers came into the town to buy goods and utilized services within the city
limits of Boston. A very famous citizen of Boston, Paul Revere, described what he saw as the solider
came into the city. Revere said, They (the British) formed and marched with insolent parade, drums
beating, fifes playing and colors flying, up King Street. Each soldier has received 16 rounds of powder

The seemingly lost virtue of patience happens to be one of the most important qualities to determine a
person s outcome in life. Both main characters in Macbeth and Thank You Ma am struggle to grasp
the importance of patience. However, the results of their flaws of this trait are immensely different.
The stories of Macbeth and Thank You Ma am have strikingly similar themes of needing patience,
despite the different eras in which they were written. In Macbeth, the main character, Macbeth, is

through his failure. After Roger s failed attempt, the story explains the woman s initial actions, ... she

This quote shows her aggressive behavior that masked her knowledgeable and caring personality.
Roger is made to go back to her house to clean up and have a meal. The theme of patience is learned

done wrongful deeds as well. She finished her talk with him by saying, And next time, do not make

Abstract This paper looks at software developments projects in bureaucratic government environment.
It will focus mainly on the FBI Sentinel project and its development. It will look at the failures that the
project has faced, the size of teams, the project management, and the financials of the project. Lastly,
it will take a look at what factors lead to the success of the project. Introduction April 1995, a truck

Year after year the project deadline kept on getting pushed back until in April 2005 and one hundred
and seventy million dollars later, the project was cancelled. Attempt 2 With the VCF project cancelled
the FBI was left to rely on the old case file management system and the tedious manual procedures. In
need for a new system, a new project plan was written up to replace what the failed VCF project was
supposed to bring. The new project was called the Sentinel. The aim for Sentinel was the same as
VCF, to bring a web based case file management system. Sentinel, just like VCF, would begin to be
developed using waterfall approach. Lockheed Martin was the contractor hired to develop Sentinel
with a budget of four hundred and twenty five million dollars with a 3 year deadline. Learning from
the previous failure, the project was to be delivered in two phases of twelve months. The first phase
was to give user a new simple web interface which allows them to interact with the old complicated
system in the background. There were no new features added at this point, the new screens just
allowed agents to interact with the old system through a Web browser [2]. Also, learning from the first
failure, this time around the auditors would look over every detail of the project or in other terms,

The Effects Of Sexual Assault On College Campuses Essay
Dr. Barak
ENGL 111
30 September 2016
Break the Silence On January 22, 2014, President Barack Obama signed the Presidential
Memorandum, forming the White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault. This
task force was established to help decrease sexual assaults in college campuses and create awareness
of this little talked about topic. Many college students don t believe sexual assault is an issue until it
happens to them or someone they re close with. Sexual assault affects the victims by making them feel
helpless and causing serious negative effects on their emotional health. Many of these incidents don t
get reported due to students feeling unsafe or feeling like it isn t that big of a deal. Even those that are
reported, sometimes aren t taken seriously by the school s administrators. College should be a fun
learning experience, where safety shouldn t be a concern. Sexual assault is a serious issue in the
United States especially in college campuses. Many of the victims are left with devastating lifelong
problems. Depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorders are only a few of the mental effects.
In addition, many of the victims sustain injuries as a result of forced sexual assault. There is also a
high risk of sexually transmitted infections including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or
acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) due to forced sexual contact. The emotional trauma can
eventually lead the victims to attempt or commit

also be useful in helping conduct future nursing research.
A research topic is defined as a concept or broad issue that is important. For example, in nursing
research a topic can be acute or chronic pain management, coping with illness, or health promotion.
Within each research topic, there is a potential for numerous research problems that in return can
result is different research studies. Usually, research problems guide the type of research methodology
the study will have. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aims answer the research question or hypothesis but often encompass broader targets such as
constructing recommendations for changes to nursing practice based on the results of a study. It is not
uncommon for research aims/objectives to not be expressed in research reports. More commonly, they
are found in written research proposals that detail plans for a research study before the research
begins.
A research purpose can be seen as a formal purpose statement in most research studies. This statement
can usually be captured in one to two sentences is can be interpreted as the essence of the study. The
purpose statement establishes the general direction of the research and provides a summary of its
overall purpose. The words purpose or goal typically appear in the purpose

S Journey Cycle Of Joseph Campbell s The Hero With A...
In 1949, Joseph Campbell published a book which he named The Hero with a Thousand Faces . In the
book, Campbell debated that time and time again, he notices a regularly reoccurring pattern that could
be noticed within heroic fiction. Back when the eldest documented myths and legends; he referred to
this as the monomyth (Campbell borrowed the word monomyth from James Joyce s Finnegan s Wake
in 1939), suggesting a rotation of narrative structure that could be acknowledged in whole or parts in
stories, old and new. There are many phases of this bizarre, yet complex cycle, a journey in which the
hero confronts the hurdles he is put through. This is the Hero s Journey Cycle. Bilbo Baggins, a furry,
non adventurous hobbit is somehow chosen to go on an adventure with a wizard named Gandalf, 13
dwarves, and much more whom he didn t even know existed. The most vital part of the Hero s
Journey is Stage 11; Resurrection , the end of the road, especially of this virtue is compelling and
abundant of tension. This happened when Bilbo and company set sail toward home with the treasure,
when Bilbo is not accepted by his adventurous side, and when 3 dwarves were wounded and passed
away miserably. Coming back home from an adventure, no matter how grand or humble, is always
difficult. Never seeing your team and moving on with your life and goals. Bilbo, he had captured so

Personal Statement Of Faith By God
PERSONAL STATEMENT OF FAITH
As a man purchased by God through his Son, I believe it is necessary to clearly state, in a concise
manner, the closed handed truths I believe as guided by Scripture. My Statement of Faith summarizes
essential Christian beliefs, shows unity in Christ, and guards me from potential error.
I affirm these gospel truths, with the understanding that my confidence in these truths grows
progressively over time. These beliefs are great cause for joy. Far more than just words on a page, they
are precious gifts from God.
I. The Scriptures.
I believe that the 66 books of the Bible are God s word revealed to us, written by God s apostles and
prophets. In its original manuscripts it contains truth without error as it unfolds the story of God his
creation, our fall, his redemption and restoration; therefore it is, and will remain to the end of the
world, the true center of Christian union. The Scriptures are the supreme standard by which all human
conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.
II. The Triune God.
We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God. He is an infinite, intelligent Spirit, the
Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth, glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible
worship, trust, and love. In the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and
the Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but complimentary offices in
the great work of redemption.

This offering of France to Canada is a sign of respect as France is willingly giving land to Canada to

France spent tons of money on creating a memorial monument for Canada on the land they ceded.
After ceding the land France also spent 11 years and $1,500,000 on a limestone monument as a
poignant reminder of the sixty thousand Canadians who died serving their country during World War
I. By spending the money and time to create a monument for Canada shows that France has a great
deal of respect for Canadians and what they did during their first attempt at serving their country
during their country. The respect and numerous offerings that France donates in return of Canada s

what Canada accomplished on the battlefield f Vimy Ridge was big for a country s army serving in

Anglo Saxon Influence
The Anglo Saxon period was a time around 410 AD where settlers from Modern Germany invaded
Britain after the failure of the Roman Empire. Anglo Saxon warriors were hired to preserve the Roman
way of life but decided the land was good for themselves. Therefore, Britain became their home.
Anglo Saxons contributed greatly to the foundations of Britain by spreading their culture in ways of
their language, literature, religion and traditions in law and government. They were referred to as the
First Englishmen and left the strongest reminder of their presence in ways such as the Exeter Book.
The Exeter Book was literature that expressed all the ways and values of the Anglo Saxon people. The
seafarer , the wanderer , and the wife s lament being part of the Exeter book expressed the central
theme of isolationism.
The elegy The Seafarer is poem about a man who both loves and hates the sea. Elegiac tradition is one
of many Anglo Saxon elements express throughout the poem. An elegy being a mournful or

The days are gone when the kingdoms of earth flourished in glory; now there are no rulers, no
emperors, no givers of gold, as there once were.....¨ The Seafarer expresses his mournful thoughts on
how life used to be and will never be the same for him. Next, Kennings can be found often throughout

How The Rising Swedish Democratic Party Is An Acceptable...
It is quite common knowledge in North America that the true bastions of liberal, social democracy lie
in the north; Scandinavia has in recent years become what neoliberals deem as an acceptable balance
between socialism and western democracy. This is supplemented that, according to Forbes and several
other periodicals, Scandinavian countries such as Denmark and Norway tend to rank highest in terms
of overall happiness. However these seeming utopias of democracy have stark differences between
themselves and North Americans; their populations are substantially lower, tax rates are far higher,
and the results of unending migration from the Levant and beyond have resulted in an exponential
increase in crime. This has led to a rise in support for right wing parties among a more traditionally
socialist region. As seen in articles by Dalstrom and Esaiasson as well as Hinnfors, Spehar and
Bucken Knapp, this is not a new phenomenon in Sweden; immigration has been a matter of concern
for quite some time in Europe. This paper will seek to establish how the rising Swedish Democratic
Party has aggregated decades of social desire within Sweden as well as a correlation between influxes
in refugees, international and national crises, and rise in anti immigrant sentiment. Socialist
democracies in Scandinavia were brought about in correlation with the Nordic model of governance,
also known as Nordic capitalism or Nordic social democracy. A prevalent system of governance since

Process Essay On Dog Groomers
Dog owners have to put in a lot of effort to keep their dog healthy, happy and looking good. In
addition to feeding and bathing your pet, you will have to trim their nails. You may be tempted to trim
your dog s nails yourself to save yourself a couple bucks, but when looking at the many ways you and
your dog can benefit from you allowing a pet groomer to tackle this task, you may actually change
your mind.
Safer for your dog: Your dog has a blood supply, also known as the quick, in his or her nails that you
will have to steer clear of when trimming the nails. Since most pet owners aren t exactly sure how to
avoid this blood supply, they end up cutting it, which can be quite painful for your dog. A groomer
will know where this blood supply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even with a regular nail clipper, you run the risk of not trimming your dog s nails to the appropriate
size when you do it yourself or hitting the blood supply. Dog groomers will always have the proper
grooming supplies, including nail clippers specially made for trimming dogs nails that will allow them
to get your dog s nails trimmed down to the perfect size.
Less stress for you: By now, you may have realized nail trimming is a difficult task to complete. On
top of you possibly not knowing how to properly trim your dog s nails, your dog will likely not make
this task easy. An antsy or hyper dog who won t still for a nail trim can stress you out, and this isn t
something that a lot of pet owners want to deal with, which is why they look to professionals for help.
Less stress for your dog: It is fairly easy for dogs to become stressed or feel uncomfortable. Nail
trimming is not something dogs are really interested in letting their owners do, so getting them to relax
can be more time consuming than actually trimming their nails. Pet groomers understand how dogs
think and how to calm them down when they are excited, scared or anxious, which is helpful when
you are trimming a dog s

Penny Lab Report
During this experiment, one penny stayed almost the same, while the other one turned green and
completely changed. The experiments started with two cups. One was labeled water, while the other
one was labeled vinegar. In each cup, paper towels were placed at the bottom. In the cup labeled
vinegar, vinegar was added and in the cup labeled water, water was added. Then, one penny was
placed in each cup and observed on a span of four days. On the first day, penny A (cup with water)
looked the same. Penny B (cup with vinegar) had a strong smell and the penny looked shinier. Later

The first error that might have occurred was that the water and vinegar might have been covering the
entire penny and the penny might not have been exposed to enough air. If the penny was not exposed
to enough air, then the penny could have reacted differently toward the experiment. The paper towels
were dry towards the end of the experiment and more water and vinegar was not added to the cups.
This could have affected the way the penny was affected. With more water and vinegar, the pennies
may have gotten more green or may have has a stronger reaction. At the end of the experiment, the
pennies were taken out of the cups and placed a new paper towel. The towel was then labeled with
sharpies and left to sit there for a day. The different chemicals in the sharpies could have affected the
way the penny reacted. Since the sharpie marker was so close to the pennies, they could have easily
been affected. Another experiment that people may want to do next is to the same experiment, but
with different liquids. Instead of the vinegar being white vinegar, maybe one could try the experiment
with a different type of vinegar, like apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has different ingredients
and could be affected differently and have very different results. To conclude, there were many
possible errors during this experiment and many scientific reasons on why the pennies reacted the way

Profile of Former Russian Premier Vladimir Putin
Profile of Former Russian Premier Vladimir Putin In 1917, the original Russian revolution began, and
that ended in the Czarist regime that had ruled the country for centuries. The people believed that the
cruelty that they had experienced was of such great magnitude that any system of government would
be preferable. Then the Bolsheviks and Vladimir Lenin took over the reins of government. The people
realized that they had just turned in one form of oppression for another. Through the years, the

Gorbachev began disbanding the communist government. Gorbachev gave way to the first publicly
elected president, Boris Yeltsin, since the inception of modern Russia. Yeltsin proved too erratic and

Background Vladimir Putin was all but unknown to the people of Russia and the rest of the world

The Neo Traditional Family Structure Essay
The neo traditional family structure is subsiding and is being replaced by the now more popular
egalitarian family structure. Before the neo traditional family structure was considered ideal, with one
sole financial provider for the family (usually the male), but this family structure is more difficult to
maintain because t is difficult for one person o be the breadwinner; also, the unfinished revolution has
also led to viewing this family structure as unappealing because it can be limiting for one spouse
(usually the woman). Thus, egalitarian family structures are now becoming more popular, as:
household work, childcare, and financial contribution is more equally divided between the two
partners. However, I learned that many still hold some neo traditional values, more so the males in my
sample than did the females. Initially, I thought that culture would be the largest determining in a
persons desired family structure, but the data showed otherwise. For instance, I thought that
underrepresented minorities, such as, Latinos and African Americans would hold more neo traditional
views simply because of culture. Interestingly, I learned from my analysis that this was not necessarily
the case; instead, I found that many of the participants had intermixed components of both neo
traditional family structure and an egalitarian family structure. Many of their responses contradicted
with their desired family structure. I think that this mentality is leading to new hybrid family

literature when Usama refers to the Franks, a may God curse them usually follows. Usama rarely

Usama referencing the Franks was in the story In the service of Nur Al Din (Munqidh 43). In the story

abortion issue reflect their individual worldviews on sexuality, family life, technology and the
importance of the individual; however, the pro choice and pro life movements are not effective in
changing people s moral beliefs on abortion (Luker). The key issue our candidate must address is the
federal government s participation in funding state sponsored sex education programs and greater
coverage of abortion costs.
The public s stance on abortion has remained relatively stable since the Roe decision. Fifty six percent
of the general public feels that abortion should be legal in certain circumstances such as rape, incest or
health complications. Overall, pro life advocates views on abortion tend to be congruent across the
board. Ninety eight percent of abortion opponents feel it is morally wrong in all circumstances (Scott).
However, the pro choice movement is more fragmented in its opinions. Twenty seven percent of pro
choice people support abortion even though they believe it is morally

Civil Disobedience and the Bible Essay
Civil disobedience is a nonviolent opposition to a law through refusal to comply with it, on grounds of
conscience.
I understand why somebody might want to oppose the law. Somebody might have their own beliefs on
what is right and wrong and they wouldn t know when they re disobeying. But when you do know
what you re doing, if you don t obey a certain law set forth for you to follow, there most likely will be
some kind of consequence for not following the law. You could go to jail, be put on restraint, have
something taken away, etc. There are a number of other consequences that could be given to someone
for disobeying a law.
The Bible talks about obedience. When Solomon and his workers followed God s instructions, the

But, they got the fire from a different source not where God told them to get the fire from (Leviticus

told, but also hit the rock with his staff (Numbers 20:11). He couldn t enter the Promised Land
(Numbers 20:12).
4. God told Saul to destroy all of the Amelakites (1 Samuel 15:3). He killed all but the king, and kept
some treasure for himself (1 Samuel 15:8 9). God punished him by promising to end his reign (1
Samuel 15:16 26).
5. Uzzah was told that only a priest could touch the furnishings in the Tabernacle (Numbers 4:15). He
touched the Ark of the Covenant (2 Samuel 6:6), and died instantly (2 Samuel 6:7).
God says in Leviticus 26:14 If you don t obey me and break my laws, I will punish you with terrors,
wasting diseases, and burning fevers, causing your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away. I will turn
against you, and all your enemies will defeat you.
And if after all this you still disobey me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over. All your
work will be for nothing. Your land will yield no crops, and your trees will bear no fruit.
And after that you still don t obey me, I will release wild animals that will kill your children and
destroy your cattle.
So God is telling us that pretty much no matter when or how we disobey Him, we

sister? You don t see your siblings hide their thoughts do you? Let someone in! Three siblings are too

Like Water For Chocolate
Abstract This paper was influenced through Laura Esquivel s, Like Water for Chocolate, a tragic
romance novel that is denied of love by family tradition. The key topics of this paper that analysis will
be touching on are over main characters, theme, and symbolism. This paper explains the importance
and the analysis of each main character by their description the author is providing a visual image for
the readers to picture. Tradition is not only the theme of the novel but it shows how Mexican tradition
is a hard and sensitive subject to deal with back in the revolutionary days. Finally, how symbolism
plays a huge part in this novel and the different meanings. With much research the reader can see that
the author uses her own experience to influence this story.
Whisking Love
In the novel Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, food is a major part of the story. The novel
carries many of the traditions that Mexicans find very important in their culture. Mexican women play
a big role in domestic life and must know how to prepare food. The ability of women to create a dish
for every occasion is one of many great traditions in Mexico. This novel is divided into twelve
chapters, each representing the months of the year. The importance of the way it is written is that each
chapter begins with new recipes, which are used to tell Tita s life story. Author Esquivel uses her own
life experiences of growing up in Mexico, her strong family

The Winding Stair And Other Poems
As Professor Pethica points out, the volume The Winding Stair and Other Poems is extraordinary
because its textual history is particularly elaborate, even by Yeats s standards. Although I would love
to explore the relationship between different editions, as we did when we talked about different
editions of Wilde Swans at Coole, the task is too huge to be tackled sufficiently in this paper. In order
to preclude any ambiguity, I would like to clarify that whenever I use the title The Winding Stair and
Other Poems in this paper, unless otherwise specified, I am referring to the last edition published in
1933. Since the early stage of Yeats s career, the poet has been concerned with mortality. The poet
seems to suggest that art is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Losing all touch with the finer consciousness of the age it would be, not only irresponsible, but anemic
(Foster, 441). In the poem Three movements, the poet observes that Shakespearean fish swam the sea,
far away from land; / Romantic fish swam in nets coming to the hand; / What are all those fish that lie
gasping on the strand? (Finneran, 240) Yeats is neither detached Shakespearean fish, nor credulous
Romantic fish; he is the fish that lie gasping on the strand, and the volume The Winding Stair and
Other Poems is his struggle with the crisis of his age, both the age of the poet (nearly 70 at the time)
and the age of the world (1930s). We have talked a lot about Yeats s dialectical effort to transcend
mortality and achieve immortality in his poetry. Such effort to transcend mortality presupposes the
dichotomy between life and death. Indeed, in previous volumes, may concepts are contingent upon a
symmetrically opposing idea: the symbol of the Mask presupposes the dichotomy between self and
anti self, and many of Yeats s poems feature the dichotomy between female and male. However, in the
volume The Winding Stair and Other Poems, Yeats points out a simple yet fundamental fact, that these
dichotomies are all human constructs. In the poem Vacillation, the speaker solemnly observes that
Between extremities / Man runs his course (Finneran, 250). The most important dichotomy that Yeats
inspects in this volume is the one between life and death. The poet points

Motherhood holds cultural relevance and promotes the wholeness identity. It is essential to the Native
American sense of individual and community identity. The devastation of motherhood represents the
fragmentation of the community. In Narrating Mothers: Theorizing Maternal Subjectivities (1991),
Hertha Wong connects the motherhood as/ to a continuation of the culture. Native American women
long have been associated with the continuance of tribal tradition, both through childbearing and
through transmission of cultural values in stories (Wong 174: 1991). Lulu and Marie are abandoned by
their mother. To secure Lulu from the crisis situation, Fleur sends her to a boarding school. It is a
reason for a rift between Lulu and Fleur. Lulu never calls Fleur mother. Inability to be a mother is a
direct impact of cultural devastation. Nanapush says about Fleur to Lulu the one you will not call
mother (Erdrich 2004: 2). And Lulu is sent to a government school and it estranges her from native
culture. Residential schools were a primary tool of forced assimilation in all these countries, as were
suppression of culture, alienation of lands, and bureaucratic control of Native government (Weaver
2014: 18). She becomes accustomed to the White culture. Pauline abandons Marie and joins the
convent. Pauline treats her illegitimate daughter as a signal of her weakness so she leaves her. Marie

  • 2. What Is Discipline Essay Do you really understand what it means to discipline someone? How do you define discipline? Does it mean helping someone get on the right track or is it about casting judgment or punishing a person for doing something wrong? Certainly discipline is misunderstood. In this article I want to give you a view of discipline that you may not have thought of and explain how to implement it with your team. Observations about discipline: Avoiding confrontation Many people don t like to discipline their employees because they view it as a form of confrontation which may lead to conflict. Most of us try to avoid conflict and therefore put off any communication that may trigger conflict. Discipline is perceived as judgment and punishment But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the Greek definition, it s about helping someone use their energy efficiently to become more effective in their job. Discipline saves time and energy It makes more sense to take action and discipline someone than it does to waste time and energy thinking about it. There are five progressive stages of discipline that can be used with individuals and help a team use its energy more effectively. The process begins with simple communication and then builds in intensity of action and involvement by the manager until the person acquires the targeted skill or finds a new job. These progressive stages are designed to help the employee develop into an effective team member. They are not designed to judge or punish an employee. The manager must exercise compassion and interest in the welfare of the individual. 1. Communicate It s imperative that an employee understands completely what is expected of him. What are his responsibilities and goals? How are they to be carried out? In what time frame must they be completed? How will their performance be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Business Case For The Public Cloud Enterprises around the world would be wise to heed 50 Cent s mantra Get Rich or Die Tryin when considering the implications of not getting to the public cloud. We at Cocolevio, an implementation partner of Mooor Insights Strategy, estimate that over 50% of IT spend will be going to public cloud vendors such as Amazon Web Services or SaaS vendors like Salesforce.com Inc. by 2019. This means there is around a $140B opportunity in this space. The cost savings, reduction in capital spending, speed to market, flexibility and global access derived from public cloud mean those enterprises that effectively use the public cloud are better positioned to Get Rich than their competitors who have higher cost structures and less nimble IT platforms. This trend is only set to continue as the business case for moving to public cloud only becomes more compelling, with the traditional arguments against public cloud around security and lack of control diminishing. Vendor lock in will continue to be a concern but we see many companies willing to sacrifice a bit of lock in for the many, many benefits of public cloud. With this in mind, it is prudent for any CIO to have a migration strategy to the public cloud. It is now generally accepted that at least some workload and functions of an organization will need to be moved in order to be competitive. Recently, the poster child for Amazon Inc., Netflix Inc. announced that they closed their door on their last datacenter. Although by no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tupac was known for putting the truth in his songs, not only about the streets but also about the struggles of being poor. He sent messages though his songs to the listeners. Tupac was making a change in the world, but due to an unaccounted event things slowly turned around. However many people think he is still alive, do you? As they were driving to the club Suge had just got Tupac to calm down and they started jamming out to music. Suge brought up his future and how he could make Millions if he stayed with Death Row. Tupac said he would think about it, as they stopped by a red light. Suge and him continued to drive to the club and stopped at a intersection on East Flamingo Road. Government Intervention and Internet Regulation Government Intervention and Internet Regulation Internet is a global network that connects millions of computers together and allows people to communicate and share information with each other in an effective and easy way. It has become the most widely used means of communications of recent times. The number of U.S. homes with one or more personal computers increased by 16% (in 1995) to about 38 million households, up from 33 million in 1994 and 25 million in 1993 (Fox 9). So in such circumstances, we must have some procedures for tackling illegal content on the Internet and some mechanisms for allowing end user control of what is accessed on the Internet (Darlington). It is argued that the genesis of the Internet was such that it embraced and fostered a new spirit of freedom, openness and experimentation and that these values must remain an integral feature of the Internet and if any form of regulation is introduced then the whole essence of the internet will be lost and people would not be able to access the vast resources of information that it has to offer (Darlington). The opponents of regulation also argue that any form of internet regulation is against the individual s rights to freedom of expression and the concept of net neutrality because in such a scenario a person may not be able to choose the content he wants to view. However, it should be clearly understood that society is greater than a single person and if such rights of freedom cause harm to the values of the society as a whole, then it is perhaps the responsibility of the government to intervene and restrict the rights given to every individual in order to maintain those values. There is offensive content on the internet , so this justifies the use of internet restrictions (Darlington). Internet is filled with explicit content. All sites being interconnected will allow for easier communications at the weekly meeting with video conferencing (Regan, 2004). The telecommunication system that is recommended for Acme Manufacturing is VoIP. VoIP would provide many benefits such as enhanced productivity, decreased cost for the wiring setup, and lower maintenance costs. With VoIP system the same cables used for the network can also be used for the telecommunication system, lowering installation costs. VoIP would allow video conferencing and enhance communication during the weekly meetings (Regan, 2004). A class B network can be used for this company using IP addresses in the range 128.1.0.1 to 191.255.255.254. Subnets and a VLAN will be used to logically group the different departments. This will allow all the sales departments to communicate as if they were in the same location. Although departments are not physically grouped together, grouping them into logical networks would provide increased performance. A VPN allows for a connection through a private tunnel on a public network, typically the Internet. This allows for communication on the WAN as long as Internet access in available (Regan, 2004). • 8. My Journey With Illness I soon realized that no journey carries one far unless, it goes an equal distance into the world within. was said by Lillian Smith. In my life this translates to my journey with illness. When the journey began, I was 12 and diagnosed with uveitis, which is inflammation in the eye. The journey from then until now is comparable to wandering in a forest. The forest starts off dark with little disjointed spots of light. I did not know I was going into the forest then, I only knew something was happening and it was supposed to stop if I did all the eye drops. It did not happen that way, instead, I walked into the forest that would change me and help me discover myself. The time it started was similar to being pushed into the forest with another diagnosis of glaucoma and the beginning of juvenile idiopathic arthritis. I was pushed into the forest and looked for all of the speckles of light. It was like grasping at something that I could not quite understand. I just knew they would take me somewhere. They were appealing with shifts in the light as breezes came through, and I followed them and their magnetism. I now know the specks of light were the pieces of who I am with the illnesses, as well as beyond them. As time moved forward, the lights changed. Sometimes there were more of them, or I was not paying attention to them. I thought I was stuck in a dark forest and the lights meant nothing, they were the fact that I could and still can see. I thought all I would ever be was a sick and that was all I was capable of. A diagnosis was the definition of who I was and I thought until I went into remission, if I ever go into remission, I could not do anything but that. I stayed in that mindset for about a year, until I moved on from middle school to high school. More lights began appearing and I grasped onto them slowly, but I was reaching for them and finding who I was. I found people that helped me discover what I could do with my illnesses or that they existed but, I could be more than that. Around my sophomore year I started feeling a little worse which pushed me back into the forest, a little bit, but it also enabled me to find out more about who I truly am. The lights seemed to be more abundant and they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Lab On A Chip Lab Report Introduction The research is specifically carried out on Particle Sorting using the interplay between the Travelling Surface Acoustic Wave and the Stationary Surface Acoustic Wave. Sorting individual cells/particles of interest from a heterogeneous population has been of critical importance in biological studies and clinical applications, such as single cell sequencing, rare cell isolation, and drug screening. The introduction of lab on a chip (i.e., small sized analytical devices) has spurred steadily increasing interest and research efforts in the microfluidics discipline (upon which lab on a chip devices are based). The promise of such lab on a chip devices is grounded in the advantages of microfluidics relative to traditional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Displacement of acoustic waves is also helpful in creating particle mobility required for separation of particles in a static fluid volume. In batch systems, with very small samples in contact with a substrate, separation has been shown using acoustic streaming in droplets, in an open chamber and in a channel. Description of Research Methodology In this research we will examine the use of acoustic radiation forces alone for particle separation in a system, and demonstrate that the controllability of this type of acoustic force allows highly specific separation. SAW is generated by a spatially periodic electrical field to create a resonant condition on a piezoelectric substrate. Further, in TSAW a wave travels through the substrate and in case of SSAW, there are 2 counter propagating wave. We will utilise both TSAW and SSAW; the former acts to push the particles across the chamber, the latter to capture particles in bands of minimum force potential. The system will consist of a microfluidic chamber, cast in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), and bonded onto a lithium niobate, LiNbO3 (LN) piezoelectric substrate. The device will be held under a microscope using a frame. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. John Dewey s Theory Of Evolution Abstract This research is on the background of John Dewey (1859 1952), his theories, his influences and the impact that his research had on the educational systems across the United States. Functionalism, Pragmatism and Individualism are looked at, as well as Darwin s Theory of Evolution. It also goes into the impact that Dewey s theories had on the educational system as it is viewed during John Dewey s lifetime and today. John Dewey (1859 1952) was born in Burlington, Vermont in 1859. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1879 and received his PhD from John Hopkins University in 1884. Dewey was a leading figure in psychology, leaning mainly toward functionalism and behaviorism. The Reflex Arc Concept in Psychology, (1896)by John Dewey, is considered the major statement in the functionalist school of thought. Although his main interest was educational psychology, Dewey was a voice for many liberal causes. Today his writings are still used by the more progressive factions in the United States. Because Dewey s writings and philosophies are so extensive, I am going to concentrate on his influence related to the educational system. Dewey was partial to Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution and the writings of William James. You can see the influence of Darwin s philosophies in John Dewey s educational works. Unexpectedly, Cady is invited to join the clique, called The Plastics, which consists of Regina, Gretchen, and Karen, and she quickly acquires how a girl should behave and appear. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A moral holiday is a time where social norms are broken. In Mean Girls, Halloween is portrayed as a moral holiday since the girls dressed as sluts. It was a special occasion where the girls wore lingerie and animal ears, which is not an everyday outfit. Social norms are unwritten rules of behavior that one is expected to follow in specific situations. Cady has a difficult time adjusting to the social norms in the public school. As stated in the movie, I had never lived in a world where adults didn t trust me, she says. For example, adults always yelled at her, and teachers told her not to read ahead or eat in the classroom. She assumed everyone was friendly, but that happened to be untrue. In addition, there are a variety of social norms that the Plastics have to follow. After Regina invites Cady to join, Gretchen describes all of the rules that Cady must follow in order to continue to hang out with them and sit at their table. The rules include: only being able to wear a pony tail once a week, not being able to wear a tank top two days in a row, must wear a pink shirt on Wednesday, and can only wear jeans or track pants on Friday. If any one of the girls break the rule, then she is kicked out of the table and has to go find another group. Mores, which is a type of norm, is a serious violation in society. • 13. The Models Have Different Approaches Towards The Concept... Nursing Both models have different approaches towards the concept of nursing. Leininger presented nursing as activities directed toward assisting, enabling, and supporting with the cultural beliefs and values of the recipient of care (Masters, 2014, p. 69). Nursing is a general profession which includes culturally congruent care; nurses provide care for members of diverse cultures. According to Jarošová (2014), nursing is presented by three types of activities which are culturally congruent with the needs and values of clients (p. 49). However, Roy defines nursing as using the four adaptive modes, promote adaptation for individuals and groups, thus contributing to health, quality of life, and dying with dignity (McEwen Wills, 2014, p. 179). Jarošová, (2014) explained that nursing focuses on adaptive abilities of individual, families, and communities. By manipulating focal and contextual stimuli and decreasing the influence of residual stimuli, nursing strives to reduce ineffective responses and promote adaptation of individual in health and illness (p. 54). The metaparadigm concepts are well defined in these two models. However, there are some similarities and differences found between the two models. The relationship among the concepts is evident and is related to one another, and these are consistent with the model s scientific assumptions. However, in philosophical assumptions, the definition and relationship of the concepts are not clearly consistent. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My mother s brown eyes stared back at me, filled with a knowledge and understanding I had yet to possess and would lack for years to come. She left the barren living room, leaving behind a trace of the fruity perfume she always wore. It was futile to argue; the boxes were packed and ready to be loaded onto the trucks in a few hours. Having nowhere else to sit, I descended to the floor. The light oak wooden floorboards that used to be clothed in rugs were now naked. In the next month, new pairs of feet would walk on these boards. The 20s became alternatively known as the Jazz Age, a term coined by Fitzgerald with connotations encompassing the prosperity, frivolity, and decadence of the upper class. The atmosphere and mindset of lavish excess are preserved in the plots and characters of Fitzgerald s writings. Although Fitzgerald s protagonists are wealthy, there is a noticeable distinction between those who come from old money and those who are considered new money . It is the characteristics that Amory develops on his own, without Beatrice s influence, that redeem him. Gatsby, on the other hand, develops into the person he is by recognizing the kind of person he does not want to be a bourgeois, like his parents. The citizens of the city had endured the everyday life of the soldiers as they rose in the morning, trained throughout the day and went back to their tents in the evening. Not only did they see them every day they communicated with them in town when the soldiers came into the town to buy goods and utilized services within the city limits of Boston. A very famous citizen of Boston, Paul Revere, described what he saw as the solider came into the city. • 28. How The Rising Swedish Democratic Party Is An Acceptable... It is quite common knowledge in North America that the true bastions of liberal, social democracy lie in the north; Scandinavia has in recent years become what neoliberals deem as an acceptable balance between socialism and western democracy. This is supplemented that, according to Forbes and several other periodicals, Scandinavian countries such as Denmark and Norway tend to rank highest in terms of overall happiness. However these seeming utopias of democracy have stark differences between themselves and North Americans; their populations are substantially lower, tax rates are far higher, and the results of unending migration from the Levant and beyond have resulted in an exponential increase in crime. This has led to a rise in support for right wing parties among a more traditionally socialist region. As seen in articles by Dalstrom and Esaiasson as well as Hinnfors, Spehar and Bucken Knapp, this is not a new phenomenon in Sweden; immigration has been a matter of concern for quite some time in Europe. This paper will seek to establish how the rising Swedish Democratic Party has aggregated decades of social desire within Sweden as well as a correlation between influxes in refugees, international and national crises, and rise in anti immigrant sentiment. The people believed that the cruelty that they had experienced was of such great magnitude that any system of government would be preferable. Then the Bolsheviks and Vladimir Lenin took over the reins of government. The people realized that they had just turned in one form of oppression for another. Through the years, the controls became worse under Stalin and the other leaders that would follow him until Mikhail Gorbachev began disbanding the communist government. Gorbachev gave way to the first publicly elected president, Boris Yeltsin, since the inception of modern Russia. • 39. The Neo Traditional Family Structure Essay The neo traditional family structure is subsiding and is being replaced by the now more popular egalitarian family structure. Before the neo traditional family structure was considered ideal, with one sole financial provider for the family (usually the male), but this family structure is more difficult to maintain because t is difficult for one person o be the breadwinner; also, the unfinished revolution has also led to viewing this family structure as unappealing because it can be limiting for one spouse (usually the woman). Thus, egalitarian family structures are now becoming more popular, as: household work, childcare, and financial contribution is more equally divided between the two partners. However, I learned that many still hold some neo traditional values, more so the males in my sample than did the females. Initially, I thought that culture would be the largest determining in a persons desired family structure, but the data showed otherwise. For instance, I thought that underrepresented minorities, such as, Latinos and African Americans would hold more neo traditional views simply because of culture. Interestingly, I learned from my analysis that this was not necessarily the case; instead, I found that many of the participants had intermixed components of both neo traditional family structure and an egalitarian family structure. Many of their responses contradicted with their desired family structure. I think that this mentality is leading to new hybrid family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Response Essay to Islam in the Crusades Bart Brown Strate HIS 120 02 3 October 2011 The Book of Contemplation / Islam and the Crusades From reading The Book of Contemplation I feel that the Franks are Inferior to the Muslims, in the eyes of Usama Ibn Munqidh. Throughout the literature when Usama refers to the Franks, a may God curse them usually follows. Usama rarely sheds a positive light on the Franks beliefs, actions, or practice of medicine. The first instance of Usama referencing the Franks was in the story In the service of Nur Al Din (Munqidh 43). In the story Usamas family and possessions were being transported from Egypt to come to be with him. For the journey they were granted safe passage from the King of the Franks. One of the horsemen with Usama, Mahmud, had fallen and when Usama s group turned back to get him another had fallen and put in a choke hold by a Frankish knight, a few more spear thrusts were able to free him (Munqidh 68). In the story Jum a Accused of Cowardice a few Frankish soldiers came upon a man grazing his animal (Munqidh 71). The Franks captured the man and his beast, afterwards Usama and his Uncle had 20 men ride off to rescue the man, shortly after the men turned back because they carried no spears. Jum a rode off alone in pursuit and attacked the horsemen, chasing them back to their tents. The lord of Antioch had watched what happened and sent his men to disarm the two soldiers, after which the lord of Antioch had chastised his men saying One Muslim horseman chases away two Frankish Knights! You aren t men you re women! In the story The Status of the Knight among the Franks Usama plainly states a few of his criticizing views of the Franks. The first sentence of the story says, The Franks (may God confound them) have none of the human virtues except for courage (Munqidh 76). Prior to Roe, abortion was illegal, however it was practiced. In 1846, a few blocks south of Manhattan s Greenwich Village, Madame Restell performed illegal abortions to cure female irregularities, or pregnancies (Rubin 1). After Restell, a group called Jane , also known as the Abortion Counseling Service of the Chicago Women s Liberation Union, performed more than 11,000 illegal abortions from 1969 73 in Chicago alone (Horst 1). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As of 1997, 49 countries, including many industrialized European countries, have abortion legislations similar to the United States (Henshaw et al. 58). The abortion debate is controversial because it predominantly centers on society s religious and moral beliefs. Religion is the leading variable of individuals opposing legalized abortion in the United States (Kelley). Furthermore, Kristin Luker believes that the moral positions of activists on both sides of the abortion issue reflect their individual worldviews on sexuality, family life, technology and the importance of the individual; however, the pro choice and pro life movements are not effective in changing people s moral beliefs on abortion (Luker). The key issue our candidate must address is the federal government s participation in funding state sponsored sex education programs and greater coverage of abortion costs. The public s stance on abortion has remained relatively stable since the Roe decision. Fifty six percent of the general public feels that abortion should be legal in certain circumstances such as rape, incest or health complications. Overall, pro life advocates views on abortion tend to be congruent across the board. Ninety eight percent of abortion opponents feel it is morally wrong in all circumstances (Scott). However, the pro choice movement is more fragmented in its opinions. Twenty seven percent of pro choice people support abortion even though they believe it is morally ... • 46. The Winding Stair And Other Poems As Professor Pethica points out, the volume The Winding Stair and Other Poems is extraordinary because its textual history is particularly elaborate, even by Yeats s standards. Although I would love to explore the relationship between different editions, as we did when we talked about different editions of Wilde Swans at Coole, the task is too huge to be tackled sufficiently in this paper. In order to preclude any ambiguity, I would like to clarify that whenever I use the title The Winding Stair and Other Poems in this paper, unless otherwise specified, I am referring to the last edition published in 1933. Losing all touch with the finer consciousness of the age it would be, not only irresponsible, but anemic (Foster, 441). In the poem Three movements, the poet observes that Shakespearean fish swam the sea, far away from land; / Romantic fish swam in nets coming to the hand; / What are all those fish that lie gasping on the strand? (Finneran, 240) Yeats is neither detached Shakespearean fish, nor credulous Romantic fish; he is the fish that lie gasping on the strand, and the volume The Winding Stair and Other Poems is his struggle with the crisis of his age, both the age of the poet (nearly 70 at the time) and the age of the world (1930s). We have talked a lot about Yeats s dialectical effort to transcend mortality and achieve immortality in his poetry. Such effort to transcend mortality presupposes the dichotomy between life and death. Indeed, in previous volumes, may concepts are contingent upon a symmetrically opposing idea: the symbol of the Mask presupposes the dichotomy between self and anti self, and many of Yeats s poems feature the dichotomy between female and male. However, in the volume The Winding Stair and Other Poems, Yeats points out a simple yet fundamental fact, that these dichotomies are all human constructs. In the poem Vacillation, the speaker solemnly observes that Between extremities / Man runs his course (Finneran, 250).
