The Accomplishment Of One s Goal
Success is something people want but don t know how to achieve.Success is the accomplishment of
one s goal. Certain habits however need to be developed in life that help insure success. Many of the
three stated as habits to be successful in life are resilience, self motivation and setting goals. In order
to be successful the habits that can be encounter are resilience which turn your greatness into success
after a difficult experience, which we need to be self motivated which helps to embrace the pain that
can be a part of the success and allows us to set goals for ourself. Resilience is the key to success that
enables people to move through hardship and become better. No one escapes pain, fear and suffering.
Yet from pain can come wisdom, from fear can come courage, from suffering can come strength. A lot
of people misunderstand It s not about bouncing back. Resilient people do not bounce back from
hardship. We cannot bounce back because we cannot go back in time. You will not be the same person
after having an difficult situtation. Resilient people are able to integrate hard experiences into their
lives in a way that makes them better.Don t fear failure. Instead redefine it as feedback and as a natural
part of a successful life. As Michael Jordan said: I ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I ve
lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I ve
failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I

Gertude Stein And The Art Of Cubism Essay
The Cubist painter renounced the work of artists who drew only what society wanted to view as art.
Instead of painting for the appraisers of conventional art, Cubist painters assembled shapes and
movement from different angles to create a completely innovative artistic perspective. Like the Cubist
artist, Gertrude Stein, a modernist writer of the 20th century, rejected the expectations of a society that
required writing to model the speech of the English language just as it required art to model the
visions and still life images of everyday situations and experiences. Stein s writing is often compared
to the visual art of modernist painting, such as Duchamp s work from the 1913 Armory Show, Nude
Descending a Staircase No. 2, in which he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the section entitled A Waist, Stein uses anaphora and begins each of three separate, disconnected
thought patterns in the same manner: A star glide, a single franctic sullenness, a single financial grass
greediness. Object that is in wood. Hold the pine, hold the dark, hold in the rush, make the bottom. A
piece of crystal. A change, in a change that is remarkable there is no reason to say that there was a
time. A woolen object gilded. A country climb is the best disgrace, a couple of practices an of them in
order is so left (1171). A pattern is maintained within this section that creates the rhythm between the
separated thought patterns, but at the same time does not permit the reader to move out of the present,
thus forcing the reader to continue moving through the section. The disconnected thought patterns
within Stein s work are created mainly by the construction of unlikely associations between the words
within each phrase, and also between the sections and their corresponding headings. Duchamp s
painting also uses unlikely associations between what is seen initially when glancing at his work, and
what the disjointed shapes and angles are meant to represent according to the title of the painting.
Stein and Duchamp both place labels on their pieces that initially implant an idea of what the viewer
may be intended to see, such as

Phantom Of The Opera Comparison
With the movie industry becoming more and more popular, it is wondered if the theatre is becoming a
dying art form because of it. After all, musicals are being made as movies, but are they are better than
them? In this essay, I look to compare the film adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera with the stage
version of it and decide based off of this, if the theatre is really a dying art form. For the stage version
of the show, I decided to do the 25th anniversary version of it which was performed at the Royal
Albert Hall. In addition to, it was sold out in just 5 hours and happened in 2011. The starring actors
and actresses in this were Ramin Karimloo as The Phantom, Sierra Boggess as Christine Daaé, Hadley
Fraser as Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny, Wendy Ferguson as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last thing that I would like to say that I liked was their costumes. Their costumes just fit for each
of the characters. The one that I liked the most was the Phantom s one to start the 2nd act. It was just
so scary and intimidating. However, with each excellent part of a show, there are awful ones as well. I
didn t enjoy the ending because I didn t understand who the person was. They just introduced a new
character and I still don t know if Christine got older or if that was someone else. Something else that I
didn t like was when a bunch of people was singing, but they were all something different which made
it confusing. Now that we have analyzed the stage version, it is time to take a look at the film. The
film version had many pluses and minuses. I ll first start off with what I liked. The part of the film that
I liked the best were the camera angles. Where the parts where the film fell short, it made up at times
with its brilliant placement of the camera. Something else that I liked was the special effects of the
movie. They made it a lot more entertaining with what they

Type III Secretion System
1. Strains of Escherichia coli and Citrobacter rodentium contain set of operons called the locus
enterocyte effacement (LEE) region in their genomes. This region encodes a type III secretion system
(T3SS).
a. What are two mechanisms by which these organisms have acquired this region (2pts)? Which seems
most likely (3pts)?
One mechanism by which E. coli. and C. rodentium could have acquired the locus enterocyte
effacement region (LEE) in their genomes is via mutation. Because the T3SS is related to bacterial
flagellum, it could be possible that the LEE sequence originally coded for flagellar components before
some sort of mutation caused it to begin coding for a T3SS instead. Because the T3SS would increase
the fitness of the bacterium, bacteria

Nemo And Dog Research Paper
Nemo and Dog By: Dominic Once upon a time there was two animals in the Pacific Ocean named
Nemo and Dog. Nemo was a piranha and Dog was a snapping turtle and they were really good friends.
They would do a lot of things together and they wouldn t mind that Dog could eat Nemo. It was a
sunny day when Nemo was going for a swim when he saw some other people talking. When he swam
past them he overheard the group talking about the fishers were out today and were already trying to
catch some fish. So he swam to go find Dog and tell him about the fishers. He couldn t seem to find
him until finally he saw a snapping turtle but he didn t know if it was Dog because he was really far

Everybody really didn t like Dog so no one was willing to help Nemo to save him. So Nemo started to

flashback of when she struggled with bulimia. She is reflecting on a time when she used to binge eat,
to deal with her feelings. During her flashback, she remembers how a girl she was sort of friends with
told her she could fix her problem of binge eating, by throwing up her food after she ate it. The end of
the scene shows a conversation between Hanna and her friend Aria, where Hanna talks about how she
knew she was stronger than her bulimia, and how she was done with that part of her life. The parts of

The Leadership Style Of The Company Of Netflix And A...
Introduction Wilmot Reed Hasting, an education philanthropist and entrepreneur, is known for serving
over the boards of Facebook, CEO of Netflix and a number of not for profit companies. In the year
1997, Marc Randolph and Hastings contributed in co founding Netflix that offers film rental by mail
at a flat rate or price to the customers in the entire United States of America. With the headquarters in
California, the company of Netflix has been amassing a collection of more than 44 million subscribers
for almost 100,000 titles. Hastings is known for being ahead in the curve of technology. He also
possesses the quality of anticipating the preferences of the customers. In consideration with this
quality, it had been anticipated by him that in an eventual manner the customers will show preferences
towards getting movies instantly being delivered through the sources of the internet (Musek 2007).
Even though the organization is now being criticized by a number of individuals in the market, the
organization had been able to achieve success in the initial period and in recent times due to the
leadership style of Reed Hastings. Hence, the leadership style of Reed Hastings is extremely important
for the purpose of this report and will be the key focus of the research as well. In the beginning of the

The City Of The Streets
As the sun reaches its horizon and the shadows of buildings cast endless shade, people from all over
Denton come out to the square (downtown). The freedom to roam around, catch a bite, a coffee, read a
book, hang out with friends or even just relax is there. A variety of shops surrounds Denton s
courthouse giving the people choices from choosing an ice cream shop to getting a tattoo. However, as
many people would say there is one particular spot that catches our attention even from a couple
blocks back. A building on the south side of the courthouse is illuminated by a red and blue neon
guitar logo that lights the night away. While a band plays its music on the rooftop of the building.
Underneath the neon lights, crowds of people are standing next to the red brick walls waiting to be
called in by an LSA hostess.
As I walk in I am greeted with a welcoming smile, and a fresh smell of cooked burgers but beyond
that I look to my left and see a column of artist s names hanging on the walls. Above the names there
is a beautiful piece of artwork filled with colors, in resemblance to Leonardo da Vinci s The last
Supper masterpiece. It features Jesus in a laughing manner, surrounded by hamburger buns on the
table and joining him were Texas music legends Willie Nelson, George Jones, Stevie Ray Vaughan, T

Negative Campaigning Toward A Tipping Point
Negative Campaigning Toward a Tipping Point
Opposition research is a key part in modern campaigns, however the increase in negative campaigning
coupled with advancements in research techniques will create a more hostile election cycle. Negative
campaigning has been a method that helped control those with a lot of outside factors affecting them
prior to being elected. The right campaign ad with fact checked information is an amazing asset to a
campaign team. Media has progressed to a point where they demand live, off the cuff news twenty
four seven from the campaign trail. This makes it hard for the well calculated responses the political
community is used to less desirable. The right conditions have been meet to allow for an anomaly to
take advantage of negative campaigning and using more media desirable taglines to gain popularity.
This popularity comes at a cost however; the cost is damaging the success of getting the public to be
more involved in politics. Many organizations, politically affiliated and otherwise, have been created
for the purpose of getting the public to vote on election day. These organizations strive to ensure the
average person understands how important it is to vote for yourself and the community. Unfortunately,
negatively campaigning has been shown to disillusion the public and demotivate them to get involved
in the political process. With the general public getting less involved, the opportunity for the more
devoted and the more extreme to gain

To My Dear And Loving Husband Comparison
To my Dear and Loving Husband written by Anne Bradstreet, is the story of a woman admiring love
for her husband. On the other hand, My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun written by William
Shakespeare, is the story of the love a man feels for an imperfect woman. Although the two poems are
about love, they interpret it in different ways through rhythmic structure, and emotional expression.
To my Dear and Loving Husband has an impeccable rhythmic alignment. It starts with repeating if
ever three times in the first three lines. She uses this to express her deep love for her husband and at
the same time to confirm it. In the fourth line, she compares her love for her husband with the love
other women have for their own husbands. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is used to connect the last part of every line. Also, the poem is mainly a satire, not a serious poem
like Bradstreet s. Instead of praising his mistress, he emphasizes her imperfections and bad
characteristics. On the other hand, Bradstreet only mentions the good aspects of her husband. She
never says anything negative about him. From the first line to line ten, Shakespeare describes his
mistress not as the typical ideal woman, but as someone ordinary. He expresses this especially in the
fourth line where he uses personification to compare her hair to black wires. Some of the things he
says are; that her eyes are not shiny, her lips are not red, her breast are brown instead of the perfect
white, her breath odor is unpleasant and her voice is not melodious. He does this to make his poem
stand out from the crowd, and also to not make it exactly as other love poems, such as Bradstreet s. He
wants his poem to be more humorous and realistic. In Bradstreet s poem everything is perfect, and in
reality it does not matter what relationship we are in, perfection does not exist. After he criticizes the
woman in all possible ways, his poem takes a turn. From lines eleven to fourteen, he says that
although she is not perfect, he has never seen somebody as beautiful as her. I grant I never saw a
goddess go...And yet by heaven, I think my love as rare / as any

The Louisiana Territory And How It Changed America Forever
The American landscape has always been that of great majestic glory. But this was not always so. The
westward expansion was not always in the cards for the Americans. The French had mostly settled
from the Mississippi River in the east to the Rocky Mountains in the west and from the Gulf of
Mexico in the south to the Canadian border in the north. With the Louisiana Purchase the U.S acquired
most of that land. How did this land help define the United States of America as a Nation? This essay
will discuss the actions leading up to the Acquirement of the Louisiana territory and how it changed
America forever.
In 1762 France ceded French Louisiana west of the Mississippi River to Spain. The French also
transferred almost all of its remaining North American holdings to Britain in 1763. Spain was no
longer a dominant country and they did little to develop Louisiana during the next three decades in
which they held it. Spain in 1796 allied itself with France causing Britain in a bold move to use its
navy to cut off the Spanish from reaching America.
The Spanish in 1801 signed in secret, a treaty with France to return Louisiana Territory to France. This
set off a series of concerns for the Americans. Americans had been moving westward into the Ohio
River and Tennessee River valley areas since the 1780 s and the Port of New Orleans was a strategic
port of entry as well as the Mississippi River which was needed if the U.S was going to be able to ship
good through the Gulf of Mexico.

Funerals, Ruals And Funerals
Funerals and the accompanying ceremonies and rituals are as diverse as the people who perform them.
I was raised Roman Catholic and have had first hand experience with the tradition of receiving the
Sacrament of Last Rights before a person dies. When I was seven years old, I had an emergency
appendectomy that was done laparoscopically. Ten days after surgery, I became very ill with a high
fever, vomiting, and intense abdominal pains. My mother rushed me to the hospital where I was
admitted and taken to the operating room for an emergency surgery. While in surgery, they discovered
I had a surgical infection in my lower right quadrant. They ran my bowel and found a lump in my
mesentery, but they could not biopsy it because it was too close to a major artery. After surgery, I was
recovering well and looking forward to going home. On my third day post operation, I was difficult to
rouse and eventually became unresponsive with my heart rate dropping to eight beats per minute. I
was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit where I was given Last Rights by the hospital priest because
they did not think I was going to make it through the night. I do not remember receiving the sacrament
that night, but I do remember the second time. Things got a little better, but then I started
hemorrhaging from my nose. That, combined with my blood loss from surgery, resulted in me needing
a blood transfusion. I received Last Rights for a second time after the central line was placed. I
remember the priest making a cross on my forehead and the palms of my hand. He prayed and blessed
my soul so that if I were to die, I could go to Heaven. I remember feeling a sense of calm, but that
could have been the narcotics. The idea of blessing someone before death to ensure that they get to
heaven is interesting to me. It almost seems as though you can live your life as sinfully as you want to
but when the time comes, if you confess and repent, then all is forgiven. That is quite odd to me. It is
interesting to have had Last Rights twice and still be alive. It makes me wonder if God decided it was
not my time. Despite the priest s best attempts to bless my soul for the journey to heaven. Funeral
costs are something that I do not think I will ever

Cause, Symptom, and Breakthough Treatments for Irritable...
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) occurs when muscles in your large intestine contract faster or slower
than normal. This causes pain, cramping, gassiness, sudden bouts of diarrhea, and constipation.
Symptoms of IBS may include:
Cramping pain in your lower abdomen
Bloating and gas
Mucus in your stool
Immediate need to move your bowels when you wake up or during or after meals
Relief of pain after bowel movements
Diarrhea or constipation, or bouts of both
Feeling of incomplete emptying after bowel movements
Normally, food moves through the digestive system by muscle contractions in the intestines. In people
with IBS, the contractions are no not coordinated. The contractions may last for too long or not long
enough. The contractions affect bowel movements and result in uncomfortable and painful symptoms.
This also affects the ability of the colon to be able to absorb water and other nutrients from the food
being digested.
Researchers are not certain of the causes of IBS. However some scientists believe that people with
IBS tend to be oversensitive to the digestive nerve signals. This means mild indigestion that is hardly
noticeable in most people becomes distressing abdominal pain in those with IBS.
Other scientists believe that psychological factors play an important role in IBS. Intense emotional
states such as stress and anxiety tend to trigger chemical changes that interfere with the digestive
system.
It has also been discovered that many people with IBS

The Ohio Art Company s Business Practices Essay example
1) The main reason for Ohio Art Company s decision to move its production to china was simply to
stay in business. When asked if it was an ethical decision, you must look at the company as a whole
and not just the sake of their employees. Even though OAC does have moral obligations to its
employees, they also have moral obligations to there stakeholders as well. OAC s main goal was to
keep overall costs for its most popular product the Etch A Sketch under $10 or else lost money. On an
economic perspective, with the move to China Americans would achieve lower prices plus lower
overall cost while the move would give Chinese villagers a higher paying job and possibly a better

The righteous moralist claims that a multinational s home country standards of ethics are appropriate
ones in all countries. In this case the OAC should stop doing business with Kin Ki due to its labor and
human rights violations. But to some people, these poor working conditions may be acceptable in
developing countries such as China. The second moralist view: The naïve immoralist states that if a
manager sees that firms from other nations are not following ethical norms in a host country then they
should not either. In this situation, one would think that since China has a bad reputation of violating
human rights and using cheap labor through sweatshops, then it would be okay for the OAC to do the
same, which is a very bad way of doing business. I think that OAC should make sure that their
workers at Kin Ki are being taken care of in and out of the factory, if not then OAC should stop doing
business with Kin Ki immediately and end their contract.
3) It is possible for executives from OAC as well as Mr. Killgallon to have no knowledge of labor
problems at Kin Ki but it is very unlikely. The only plausible way they wouldn t have any knowledge
of the labor problems is if the company s executives have never done business or stepped foot into
China to see for themselves the poor working conditions Chinese workers face everyday. Usually the
top executives would be on top of things and pretty knowledgeable on

Describe briefly the function and composition of blood.
Blood is a red fluid that contains a complex mixture of cells suspended in a liquid matrix which is
transported (circulated) throughout the body by the circulatory system of an organism. It circulates
around the body by the heart and delivers oxygen and other important nutrients to cells of organs and
tissues, while at the same time, removing waste product from our body. Blood is located in almost
every part of our body, which is due to the network of blood vessels called the circulatory system. It is
circulated through the body s heart, arteries, veins and capillaries (tiny vessels that connect arteries
and veins). In order for blood to carry out its functions, it needs to circulate all over our body to all
living cells and tissues which it does through the support of the heart that pumps blood throughout our
entire body). Thus, it is the fluid of life, a vital life force that all humans need in order to live and
sustain life.

Education In Richard Rodriguez s The Hunger Of Memory
Education in the world today is almost a necessity to obtaining a well paying job and a decent
standard of living. The entire population is surrounded by millions of creations well educated people
made or thought of by themselves. In the excerpt from The Hunger of Memory by Richard Rodriguez
and the essay Superman and Me by Sherman Alexie, education majorly influenced the outcomes of
the authors lives. Common themes found throughout the writings are upbringings from ethnic
backgrounds and being taught with the American education system. Education is extremely influential
in how successful people become in the world. At first glance, these pieces of literature seem similar,
but they have many differing viewpoints on how truly powerful education can be on the life of an
individual. Whether having a positive or negative impact on a life or lives, knowledge can lead a
person to a truly successful route in his or her journey. Having a proper education is essential. In the
excerpt from The Hunger of Memory, Rodriguez discusses how he became assimilated to the
American education system. He was brought about in a Spanish speaking home and taught English at
the age of six. Rodriguez explains his feelings of no longer having a connection to his parents, who
were immigrants, and his Mexican culture, in which he claims is because of the rapid change to
speaking English and being taught the American way. The author states, The name I carry from my

Essay on Everyday Use By Alice Walker
People identify themselves by their colour, culture, language or religion. The identity goes back to
generations and it doesn amp;#8217;t start or change within the individual. It is an evolutionary
process where each person brings upon some changes. This is best described in Alice Walker
amp;#8217;s short story, amp;#8220;Everyday Use ;, where three characters, a mother and two
daughters, are portrayed differently, each with its different qualities and philosophies on life that are
often seen in generations.

The Rationality of an Irrational Mind
Introduction:
In written history, morality was first presented from the very first form of writing in Mesopotamia
where records were kept on clay tablets. From then, civilizations after civilization, moral texts were
kept in the form of the Code of Hammurabi, the Hindu Vedas, and the Bible. The list continues as
morality has spanned the entire history of philosophy. These texts all held inquiries into the nature and
origins of good persons and good societies (Haidt).
Today, social psychologist and other psychologist who study ethics and morals continue to try and
answer how an individual ought to live. In effect, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

motivate one to action, the controlled cognition is not connected to behavioral centers in the brain. As
a result, Haidt goes as far to say that if reason were to be a rider on an elephant, the elephant being
emotion, the rider can attempt to steer the elephant, but the elephant will only obey if it has no desire

innocent lives occupied by nineteenth year old Nicolas Cruz whom was a former student that was
expelled from Stoneman Douglas High School. Faculty Members gamble their lives to preserve the
lives of students. Many families were affected and devastated, and the questions still remain

The Effect Of A Clock Reaction On The Reaction Rate Of A...
A clock reaction is a form of chemical reaction where multiple reagents are placed together with no
apparent change after a time lag until a dramatic colour change appears called the induction period
(King, Preece and Billingham, 1999). This abrupt colour change can be due to the limiting reagent
being fully consumed which allows the remaining chemicals to react resulting in a colour change.
Specific kinetic and stoichiometric conditions are required for this standard clock behaviour to occur.
Clock reactions can be highly useful to investigate rates of reaction as the rate of the colour change
may differ due to varying factors.
The reaction rate of a chemical reaction can be defined as the speed in which the reaction occurs. The

Figure 1: Effect of order on the reactant (UCDAVIS 2, 2017)
Typically, the order of a reactant does not go beyond a second order. The greater the order is, the
greater the increase in reaction rate when the reactant is doubled. The sum of the order of reactants for
the experiment is then the order of the overall reaction (UCDAVIS 2, 2017).
The two methods to determine the rate law of a kinetics experiment is by initial rates and by integrated
rate law. To utilise the initial rates method, multiple experiments can be conducted with differing
concentrations and measuring the initial rate for the reactions (Yamauchi, Nord and Schullery, 2016).
From this, the reaction order for the corresponding substance can be calculated and the rate constant
can be found. However, the method of initial rates requires the chemical reaction to be fairly slow and
since several experiments need to be executed, it is not an ideal method.
The integrated rate law method utilises integrated rate laws in comparison with the collected data
relating concentration and time during a kinetics experiment (SparkNotes, 2017). This method finds
the order of the reactant by plotting the time versus a function of the concentration data and using trial
and error with a selected rate law. If the integrated rate law is correct, the data points will appear linear
and if it is not linear then

Analysis Of The Play King Lear
The Play King Lear was written by William Shakespeare in 1606. The play King Lear takes place in
Britain with the start of the play involving Kent the king s most loyal companion and Gloucester

how much they love him and Cordelia says she loves him as much as a daughter should love her
father. This angered king lear sending her away and not giving her any of the kingdom. Cordelia gets
married to the King of France who took her as a prize even though she had no inheritance. Kent tried
to get King lear to Reconsider his choice but end up getting himself kicked out Britain. Behind the
scenes of the major event it jumps to Edmund the bastard of Gloucester is scheming to get his father s
inheritances from his brother Edgar. Edmund wrote a note saying that Edgar was going to kill

Chelow Kebab History
The Persian Empire fell in the year 330 BCE due to the invasion of Alexander III of Macedon
(Metropolitan Museum of Art). During this the Greeks controlled the Persian lands, this was known as
the Seleucid dynasty. After the Seleucid dynasty there were many dynasties that controlled Persia.
During the year 633 654 AD Muslims started attacking the Sassanid Empire and took back control of
Iran, this was known as the Muslim conquest or the Arab conquest of Iran. Modern day Iran is divided
into 31 provinces (Statoids). These 31 provinces are combined into 5 regions of Iran. These 5 regions
are Tehran (middle northern region), Esfahan (middle southern region), Tabriz (northwest region),
Kermanshah (western region), and Mashhad (eastern region). ... Show more content on

This dish is often referred to as the original Iranian national dish besides the true national dish Chelow
kebab. This dish is an herb stew with many herbal mixtures combined with Persian polo rice. Persian
polo rice is basmati rice that is cooked in a seasoned broth often mixed with onions and spices. This
gives the rice a brown color completely different from the rice styles of Chelow. Ghormeh is
originally a Turkish word; this dish is from the region of Tabriz, which is next to turkey. Ghormeh in
Turkish means stewed and sabzi means Persian herbs. The Turkish people used Persian herbs to create
this dish and the Persians loved the stew so they adopted this dish from Turkey. Ghormeh sabzi s
herbal ingredients are a mixture of parsley, green onions, coriander, and dried fenugreek leaves. The
dish is cooked with kidney beans and turmeric seasoned lamb or beef all served with polo or tah dig

Cultural Conflict In Tuptim s The King And I
The King and I takes place in Bangkok, Siam in the year 1862; after a recently widowed English
schoolteacher, Anna Leonowens, and her son, Louis, move there to give the King of Siam s children
and wives a westernized education in hopes that this will plunge Bangkok into the modern world.
Anna struggles with the king because their cultural beliefs are so different, but the conflict diminishes
after the king finds out that Britain would like to take over Siam. He calls upon Anna to help him look
less barbaric and she advises him to invite the British and show them how wrong they are by dining
with them and showing a play written by Tuptim, the king s latest wife, based on Uncle Tom s Cabin.
After the play Tuptim runs away with her lover, but is caught and returned to the palace where the
king kills her lover and Tuptim is never seen again to Anna s dismay. She decides to leave Siam, but
on the day of her departure she is informed that the king is sick; she returns to see him right before he
dies and his son is made king to rule in the ways of the West.
The main conflict in The King and I is a cultural dispute between Anna s western ideas and the king s
traditional cultural values. From the very beginning, they establish this issue by showing Anna, Louis
and the ship s captain dressed in western clothes with Anna wearing a crinoline and Louis and the ship
s captain dressed in a suit being met by the Prime Minister of Bangkok who is dressed in traditional
Siamese clothes. They

Lucian Freud Essay
Lucian Freud
Freud, Lucian (1922 ). German born British painter. He was born in
Berlin, a grandson of Sigmund Freud, came to England with his parents in 1931, and acquired British
nationality in 1939. His earliest love was drawing, and he began to work full time as an artist after
being invalided out of the Merchant Navy in 1942. In 1951 his Interior at
Paddington (Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool) won a prize at the Festival of Britain, and since then he
has built up a formidable reputation as one of the most powerful contemporary figurative painters.
Portraits and nudes are his specialities, often observed in arresting close up.
His early work was meticulously painted, so he has sometimes been described as a `Realist (or ...

Freud s subjects are often the people in his life; friends, family, fellow painters, lovers, children. As he
has said The subject matter is autobiographical, it s all to do with hope and memory and sensuality and
involvement really . Paintings in the exhibition will range from Girl with Roses 1948 to Garden,
Notting Hill Gate 1997, and highlights include the marvellous series of portraits of his mother,
portraits of fellow painters John Minton, Michael Andrews and Frank
Auerbach, and other major works including Large Interior W11 (after
Watteau) 1981 3. Sharp pictures of his youth will contrast with the works of his maturity, paintings
filled with life and liveliness, each in its way a celebration.
I paint people , Freud has said, not because of what they are like, not exactly in spite of what they are
like, but how they happen to be . Until the mid 1950 s, Freud worked in a tightly focused style, which
he had begun to use at the East Anglian School of Drawing and
Painting, run by Cedric Morris. The school was very informal; as Freud said, there was No teaching
much but there were models and you could work in your own room . In many ways he worked by trial
and error:
Landscape with Birds (no. 3, shown in room 1) was an experiment with the kind of enamel paint he
thought was used by Picasso. As he said later, Learning to paint is literally learning to use paint.
Around 1956 Freud exchanged his finely pointed

Comparing Scarface 1932 And Scarface 1983
Remakes of films are a common occurrence. Sometimes remakes are incredible and introduce a
generation to great films of the past, however, sometimes they aim too high and miss the mark
completely. Scarface 1932 and Scarface 1983 is a great example of the latter. Scarface 1932 was the
first of its kind in many respects while Scarface 1983 fell short. While at the core of both of these
films they are the same, there are a few small plot discrepancies, but the message of the rise and fall of
a man is identical. Visually these films are nothing alike. Beyond the obvious use of color in the 1983
film, the lighting, spacing, and camera work are all different. Scarface 1932 was revolutionary in its
use of low key lighting while Scarface 1983 followed typical lighting conventions. The use of
symbolism in Scarface 1932 was an added layer of complexity to the film that Scarface 1983 did not
have. One thing both films did face quite extensively was censorship. Each film had to be heavily
altered in some way in order for the public to view them. While neither film was truly in the
production code era each film felt the effects regardless. On its own Scarface 1983 is not a bad film,
but when compared to Scarface 1932 it pales in comparison. When one looks into why remakes occur
so frequently, the answer that is found is nostalgia. Gangster films stem from nostalgia much like
westerns do however in both examples neither one is at all an accurate depiction of the time period.

London was placed on the shortlist for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics host city back in May
2004. The International Olympics Committee (IOC) eventually announced that London had been
successful in July 2005 following a large campaign backing the bid. The bid for the games was led by

So therefore where the media exposes the benefits of hosting the games such as increased investment
and development, this all has to be funded through public accounts which requires reduced benefits
elsewhere, or cuts in household disposable income levels.
The sporting legacy of the 2012 Olympics was always at the forefront of government attention. The
bid for the games featured the slogan Inspire a Generation with the reason behind the slogan being to
trigger involvement of young people in sports and taking up new activities (Magnay 2012). There are
two programmes introduced to encourage community sports; Places People Play and a Join in
program.
Places People Play is a joint partnership initiative between Sport England and the British Olympic
Association with the aim of making the benefits of London 2012 visible in cities, towns and villages
across the country (SportEngland.org 2012). The goals involve the protection and improvement of
hundreds of playing fields across the country, modernising and extending club facilities and Sports

The Personal Finance Course Essay
The Personal Finance course is one of the most practical courses that I took in my undergraduate
coursework. It reminds me how I can be a good steward and how I am responsible to manage, protect
and grow God s resources that were given to me. Knowing that God owns everything and that we are
accountable for how we are using His resources motivate us to develop a robust biblical finance plan
that integrates spending, risk management, and investment to reach our desired life goals. My
financial plan will include three main sections, money management section, risk management section,
and investing section. In the money management section, my husband and I made a written list of all
our goals that are related to our financial lifestyle, which include securing our family s future
spiritually and financially. We want to increase our giving and give generously to create a healthier
and safer world. We want to give $10,000 to do something for the orphans in Egypt. Financially, we
are trying to improve our income by acquiring higher degrees to move up the ladder into more growth
opportunities. My husband finished his second Master in Business Administration, and I am trying to
get my bachelor degree in the same field of study to open new doors for our careers. Most importantly,
we are determined to pay off the remaining balance of $7,066 in our credit card debt and stop using all
the credit cards (See PFP29). Moreover, buying a house is the main goal that we are trying to reach

Formalism And Realism In Film
Short Critical Essay #3 Option 2 Classical film theories are generally divided into two main camps.
They have been categorized as Formalism and Realism. The formalist approach looks at the structure
and form of the film. It analyzes the method by which the story materializes and how it forces the
viewer to react based on the way it is presented. It incorporates character development, photographic
composition, camera movement, set design, editing, etc. to that end. The realist approach scrutinizes
how a film represents reality. It is a mechanical reproduction of reality that strives for objectivity and
realism. The primary focus is always every day, true to life characters and dilemmas, and the real life
situations they are found in. Commonplace themes are the rule. To achieve realism in cinema it was
necessary to direct attention to the physical and philosophic problems of ordinary existence. People
emerge as victims of forces beyond their control in a world at times seemingly spinning out of control.
Although there are also a few similarities, formalism and realism can be shown to offer substantially
different approaches to the art of filmmaking and the study of film. Realism is a style of filmmaking
that attempts to duplicate the look of objective reality with emphasis on authentic locations and
details, long shots, lengthy takes, and a minimum of distortion. Andre Bazin championed cinematic
realism. He identifies Realism as a movement of filmmakers who put their

The And Anti Partisan Duties
P olicing and Anti Partisan duties were dangerous tasks for those assigned in the Feldjäger
Abteilungen. The hostile Dweller partisans, heavily armed criminals and the gullible tribals providing
a safehouse for those elements who were equally unwilling to back down before the enforcers of the
High King and the High Queen. This was a lesson that the Nightingales of Action Andy learned during
their brief time as such a formation, towards the end of June. Virgil Sapienti, on the other hand, was an
entirely different story. Sicherheitsdetachement Kurfust, a special RGA ZbV (Zur besonderen
Verwendung or Special Purpose ) Detachment within the Nightingales, was automatically disbanded
when the surviving members of Action Andy s outfit was converted into a Feldjäger Abteilung. That
happened a day following the conclusion of the Second Great Leaps Westward. Now, towards the end
of June, RGA High Command renewed its interest in rebuilding the Nightingales back to full strength,
starting with Sicherheitsdetachement Kurfust. It was on the morning of June 22nd, when RGA High
Command sent a letter to his home in Underworld, informing him that Sicherheitsdetachement
Kurfust has been reactivated. The letter then stated that he has been given permission to resume his
original role as its leader. With this in mind, a special assignment had been given to Sapienti, requiring
him to visit a certain someone at a safehouse in Mother s Den, specifically, St. Louis de Montfort
Boulevard. Knowing

Essay on Symbols, Symbolism, and Allegory in Hawthorne s...
Symbols, Symbolism, and Allegory in Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
Symbolism is a literary technique that is used to clarify the author s intent. Sometimes it is used to
great effect, while other times it only seems to muddle the meaning of a passage. In Young Goodman
Brown, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses objects and people as symbols to allegorically reveal his message
to the reader.
Nathaniel Hawthorne uses different people as symbols throughout Young Goodman Brown. The
largest symbolic roles in the story are goodman Brown and his wife Faith. Both of the characters
names are symbolic and representative of their personalities. With Heaven above and Faith below, I

Hawthorne does an excellent job of turning the main characters into symbols that are prominent
throughout the story.
Nathaniel Hawthorne also uses different objects in the story as symbols. One of these is the staff of the
devil : But the only thing about him, that could be fixed upon as remarkable, was his staff, which bore
the likeness of a great black snake . . . (185). This symbol shows the reader the evil that is involved
with the devil character because the serpent is an archetype of the devil, or some sort of evil, which is
prominent in many different cultures. Another object Hawthorne uses as a recurring symbol is the pink
ribbon. The pink ribbon symbolizes the purity and innocence involved with Faith. And Faith . . . thrust
her own pretty had into the street, letting the wind play with the pink ribbons in her cap, is a great
example of how Hawthorne correlates Faith with the pink ribbons of innocence (184). The pink
ribbons are mentioned later on in the story as they fall from the sky: But something fluttered lightly
down through the air, and caught on the branch of a tree. The young man seized it, and beheld a pink
ribbon. (189). This symbolizes Brown s loss of his Faith, referring to both his wife and his faith in
mankind, as she hovers over toward the devil s gathering.
Another element in Young Goodman Brown that is related to symbolism is allegory. The story is an
excellent example of

American Imperialism In Australia Essay
The reasons for colonisation by the Spanish in the Americas and the British in Australia had many
similarities. These similar factors included, improving trade routes, expanding their colonies for
wealth and power and obtaining new resources. In addition, both groups wanted to explore beyond
their own country. However, there were also a few big differences. For example, the British used
Australia for the keeping of convicts, due to the overcrowded prisons in their own country. They also
wanted to claim the land, preventing settlement in Australia from other countries, such as the
Netherlands (Dutch). An aim for the Spanish, in the Americas, was to convert more people to

influenced in big ways after the colonisation; as they adopted many of the settlers more technological

The Indigenous people were thought to be inferior by the colonisers, and as a result, were the victims

as manipulation. Their rights were cruelly taken away and they were forced to become slaves for the

An Internship Is A Professional Program
Introduction In the recent years employers are more interested in hiring new workers with a handful of
experience in their field rather than their qualifications. An internship is a professional program that
provides practical experiences to students in which they learn and can reflect back on for their future
careers. Internships are increasingly becoming more evident in the work force as it helps give
employers an opportunity to find good quality employees and in return provides good experience for
the intern. Participating in internships, no matter paid or unpaid, is believed to strengthen the
probability of acquiring a top notch career in the competitive market. However, the difference between
paid and unpaid interns can dramatically change that window of opportunity for those seeking to
engage in it. As unemployment rates continue to rise, the competition for internship increases. A large
part of the demand market includes newly graduated students who just finished a high educational
degree in hopes to outshine their peers who are pursuing the same job. A significant amount of these
young people are willingly taking on unpaid internships with the risk of them being unable to sustain
their financial need. This ultimately hinders them from climbing up the social ladder (DiMaria, 2013).
In addition to this problem, although there are a few unpaid internships out there that unprejudiced and
moral, some employers who see unpaid internship as an opening for free labor with

Raven s presence doesn t seem to be helpful. The description of the room where the man is reading

Yet from pain can come wisdom, from fear can come courage, from suffering can come strength. A lot of people misunderstand It s not about bouncing back. Resilient people do not bounce back from hardship. We cannot bounce back because we cannot go back in time. You will not be the same person after having an difficult situtation. Resilient people are able to integrate hard experiences into their lives in a way that makes them better.Don t fear failure. • 3. Gertude Stein And The Art Of Cubism Essay The Cubist painter renounced the work of artists who drew only what society wanted to view as art. Instead of painting for the appraisers of conventional art, Cubist painters assembled shapes and movement from different angles to create a completely innovative artistic perspective. Like the Cubist artist, Gertrude Stein, a modernist writer of the 20th century, rejected the expectations of a society that required writing to model the speech of the English language just as it required art to model the visions and still life images of everyday situations and experiences. Stein s writing is often compared to the visual art of modernist painting, such as Duchamp s work from the 1913 Armory Show, Nude Descending a Staircase No. 2, in which he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the section entitled A Waist, Stein uses anaphora and begins each of three separate, disconnected thought patterns in the same manner: A star glide, a single franctic sullenness, a single financial grass greediness. Object that is in wood. Hold the pine, hold the dark, hold in the rush, make the bottom. A piece of crystal. A change, in a change that is remarkable there is no reason to say that there was a time. A woolen object gilded. A country climb is the best disgrace, a couple of practices an of them in order is so left (1171). A pattern is maintained within this section that creates the rhythm between the separated thought patterns, but at the same time does not permit the reader to move out of the present, thus forcing the reader to continue moving through the section. The disconnected thought patterns within Stein s work are created mainly by the construction of unlikely associations between the words within each phrase, and also between the sections and their corresponding headings. Duchamp s painting also uses unlikely associations between what is seen initially when glancing at his work, and what the disjointed shapes and angles are meant to represent according to the title of the painting. Stein and Duchamp both place labels on their pieces that initially implant an idea of what the viewer may be intended to see, such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Phantom Of The Opera Comparison With the movie industry becoming more and more popular, it is wondered if the theatre is becoming a dying art form because of it. After all, musicals are being made as movies, but are they are better than them? In this essay, I look to compare the film adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera with the stage version of it and decide based off of this, if the theatre is really a dying art form. For the stage version of the show, I decided to do the 25th anniversary version of it which was performed at the Royal Albert Hall. In addition to, it was sold out in just 5 hours and happened in 2011. The starring actors and actresses in this were Ramin Karimloo as The Phantom, Sierra Boggess as Christine Daaé, Hadley Fraser as Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny, Wendy Ferguson as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last thing that I would like to say that I liked was their costumes. Their costumes just fit for each of the characters. The one that I liked the most was the Phantom s one to start the 2nd act. It was just so scary and intimidating. However, with each excellent part of a show, there are awful ones as well. I didn t enjoy the ending because I didn t understand who the person was. They just introduced a new character and I still don t know if Christine got older or if that was someone else. Something else that I didn t like was when a bunch of people was singing, but they were all something different which made it confusing. Now that we have analyzed the stage version, it is time to take a look at the film. The film version had many pluses and minuses. I ll first start off with what I liked. The part of the film that I liked the best were the camera angles. Where the parts where the film fell short, it made up at times with its brilliant placement of the camera. Something else that I liked was the special effects of the movie. They made it a lot more entertaining with what they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Type III Secretion System 1. Strains of Escherichia coli and Citrobacter rodentium contain set of operons called the locus enterocyte effacement (LEE) region in their genomes. This region encodes a type III secretion system (T3SS). a. What are two mechanisms by which these organisms have acquired this region (2pts)? Which seems most likely (3pts)? One mechanism by which E. coli. and C. rodentium could have acquired the locus enterocyte effacement region (LEE) in their genomes is via mutation. Because the T3SS is related to bacterial flagellum, it could be possible that the LEE sequence originally coded for flagellar components before some sort of mutation caused it to begin coding for a T3SS instead. Because the T3SS would increase the fitness of the bacterium, bacteria ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Negative Campaigning Toward A Tipping Point Negative Campaigning Toward a Tipping Point Opposition research is a key part in modern campaigns, however the increase in negative campaigning coupled with advancements in research techniques will create a more hostile election cycle. Negative campaigning has been a method that helped control those with a lot of outside factors affecting them prior to being elected. The right campaign ad with fact checked information is an amazing asset to a campaign team. Media has progressed to a point where they demand live, off the cuff news twenty four seven from the campaign trail. This makes it hard for the well calculated responses the political community is used to less desirable. The right conditions have been meet to allow for an anomaly to take advantage of negative campaigning and using more media desirable taglines to gain popularity. This popularity comes at a cost however; the cost is damaging the success of getting the public to be more involved in politics. Many organizations, politically affiliated and otherwise, have been created for the purpose of getting the public to vote on election day. These organizations strive to ensure the average person understands how important it is to vote for yourself and the community. • 11. To My Dear And Loving Husband Comparison To my Dear and Loving Husband written by Anne Bradstreet, is the story of a woman admiring love for her husband. On the other hand, My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun written by William Shakespeare, is the story of the love a man feels for an imperfect woman. Although the two poems are about love, they interpret it in different ways through rhythmic structure, and emotional expression. To my Dear and Loving Husband has an impeccable rhythmic alignment. It starts with repeating if ever three times in the first three lines. She uses this to express her deep love for her husband and at the same time to confirm it. In the fourth line, she compares her love for her husband with the love other women have for their own husbands. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is used to connect the last part of every line. Also, the poem is mainly a satire, not a serious poem like Bradstreet s. Instead of praising his mistress, he emphasizes her imperfections and bad characteristics. On the other hand, Bradstreet only mentions the good aspects of her husband. She never says anything negative about him. From the first line to line ten, Shakespeare describes his mistress not as the typical ideal woman, but as someone ordinary. He expresses this especially in the fourth line where he uses personification to compare her hair to black wires. Some of the things he says are; that her eyes are not shiny, her lips are not red, her breast are brown instead of the perfect white, her breath odor is unpleasant and her voice is not melodious. He does this to make his poem stand out from the crowd, and also to not make it exactly as other love poems, such as Bradstreet s. He wants his poem to be more humorous and realistic. In Bradstreet s poem everything is perfect, and in reality it does not matter what relationship we are in, perfection does not exist. After he criticizes the woman in all possible ways, his poem takes a turn. From lines eleven to fourteen, he says that although she is not perfect, he has never seen somebody as beautiful as her. • 12. The Louisiana Territory And How It Changed America Forever The American landscape has always been that of great majestic glory. But this was not always so. The westward expansion was not always in the cards for the Americans. The French had mostly settled from the Mississippi River in the east to the Rocky Mountains in the west and from the Gulf of Mexico in the south to the Canadian border in the north. With the Louisiana Purchase the U.S acquired most of that land. How did this land help define the United States of America as a Nation? This essay will discuss the actions leading up to the Acquirement of the Louisiana territory and how it changed America forever. In 1762 France ceded French Louisiana west of the Mississippi River to Spain. The French also transferred almost all of its remaining North American holdings to Britain in 1763. Spain was no longer a dominant country and they did little to develop Louisiana during the next three decades in which they held it. Spain in 1796 allied itself with France causing Britain in a bold move to use its navy to cut off the Spanish from reaching America. The Spanish in 1801 signed in secret, a treaty with France to return Louisiana Territory to France. This set off a series of concerns for the Americans. Americans had been moving westward into the Ohio River and Tennessee River valley areas since the 1780 s and the Port of New Orleans was a strategic port of entry as well as the Mississippi River which was needed if the U.S was going to be able to ship good through the Gulf of Mexico. ... • 15. Funerals, Ruals And Funerals Funerals and the accompanying ceremonies and rituals are as diverse as the people who perform them. I was raised Roman Catholic and have had first hand experience with the tradition of receiving the Sacrament of Last Rights before a person dies. When I was seven years old, I had an emergency appendectomy that was done laparoscopically. Ten days after surgery, I became very ill with a high fever, vomiting, and intense abdominal pains. My mother rushed me to the hospital where I was admitted and taken to the operating room for an emergency surgery. While in surgery, they discovered I had a surgical infection in my lower right quadrant. They ran my bowel and found a lump in my mesentery, but they could not biopsy it because it was too close to a major artery. After surgery, I was recovering well and looking forward to going home. On my third day post operation, I was difficult to rouse and eventually became unresponsive with my heart rate dropping to eight beats per minute. I was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit where I was given Last Rights by the hospital priest because they did not think I was going to make it through the night. I do not remember receiving the sacrament that night, but I do remember the second time. Things got a little better, but then I started hemorrhaging from my nose. That, combined with my blood loss from surgery, resulted in me needing a blood transfusion. I received Last Rights for a second time after the central line was placed. I remember the priest making a cross on my forehead and the palms of my hand. He prayed and blessed my soul so that if I were to die, I could go to Heaven. I remember feeling a sense of calm, but that could have been the narcotics. The idea of blessing someone before death to ensure that they get to heaven is interesting to me. It almost seems as though you can live your life as sinfully as you want to but when the time comes, if you confess and repent, then all is forgiven. That is quite odd to me. It is interesting to have had Last Rights twice and still be alive. It makes me wonder if God decided it was not my time. Despite the priest s best attempts to bless my soul for the journey to heaven. Funeral costs are something that I do not think I will ever ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Cause, Symptom, and Breakthough Treatments for Irritable... Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) occurs when muscles in your large intestine contract faster or slower than normal. This causes pain, cramping, gassiness, sudden bouts of diarrhea, and constipation. Symptoms of IBS may include: Cramping pain in your lower abdomen Bloating and gas Mucus in your stool Immediate need to move your bowels when you wake up or during or after meals Relief of pain after bowel movements Diarrhea or constipation, or bouts of both Feeling of incomplete emptying after bowel movements Normally, food moves through the digestive system by muscle contractions in the intestines. In people with IBS, the contractions are no not coordinated. The contractions may last for too long or not long enough. The contractions affect bowel movements and result in uncomfortable and painful symptoms. This also affects the ability of the colon to be able to absorb water and other nutrients from the food being digested. Researchers are not certain of the causes of IBS. However some scientists believe that people with IBS tend to be oversensitive to the digestive nerve signals. This means mild indigestion that is hardly noticeable in most people becomes distressing abdominal pain in those with IBS. Other scientists believe that psychological factors play an important role in IBS. Intense emotional states such as stress and anxiety tend to trigger chemical changes that interfere with the digestive system. It has also been discovered that many people with IBS ... When asked if it was an ethical decision, you must look at the company as a whole and not just the sake of their employees. Even though OAC does have moral obligations to its employees, they also have moral obligations to there stakeholders as well. OAC s main goal was to keep overall costs for its most popular product the Etch A Sketch under $10 or else lost money. In this case the OAC should stop doing business with Kin Ki due to its labor and human rights violations. But to some people, these poor working conditions may be acceptable in developing countries such as China. The second moralist view: The naïve immoralist states that if a manager sees that firms from other nations are not following ethical norms in a host country then they should not either. In this situation, one would think that since China has a bad reputation of violating human rights and using cheap labor through sweatshops, then it would be okay for the OAC to do the same, which is a very bad way of doing business. I think that OAC should make sure that their workers at Kin Ki are being taken care of in and out of the factory, if not then OAC should stop doing business with Kin Ki immediately and end their contract. 3) It is possible for executives from OAC as well as Mr. Killgallon to have no knowledge of labor problems at Kin Ki but it is very unlikely. The only plausible way they wouldn t have any knowledge of the labor problems is if the company s executives have never done business or stepped foot into China to see for themselves the poor working conditions Chinese workers face everyday. Blood is a red fluid that contains a complex mixture of cells suspended in a liquid matrix which is transported (circulated) throughout the body by the circulatory system of an organism. It circulates around the body by the heart and delivers oxygen and other important nutrients to cells of organs and tissues, while at the same time, removing waste product from our body. Blood is located in almost every part of our body, which is due to the network of blood vessels called the circulatory system. It is circulated through the body s heart, arteries, veins and capillaries (tiny vessels that connect arteries and veins). In order for blood to carry out its functions, it needs to circulate all over our body to all living cells and tissues which it does through the support of the heart that pumps blood throughout our entire body). Thus, it is the fluid of life, a vital life force that all humans need in order to live and sustain life. General function of blood 1.Distribution/Transportation: Transportation of dissolved gases (carbon dioxide and oxygen), nutrients, enzymes, blood cells (white blood cells leucocytes and red blood cells erythrocytes ), hormones and metabolic wastes. Explanation: A). Blood carries oxygen from the lungs to the cells of organs and tissues and carbon dioxide from those organs and tissues to the lungs inside our body.

The entire population is surrounded by millions of creations well educated people made or thought of by themselves. In the excerpt from The Hunger of Memory by Richard Rodriguez and the essay Superman and Me by Sherman Alexie, education majorly influenced the outcomes of the authors lives. Common themes found throughout the writings are upbringings from ethnic backgrounds and being taught with the American education system. Education is extremely influential in how successful people become in the world. At first glance, these pieces of literature seem similar, but they have many differing viewpoints on how truly powerful education can be on the life of an individual. Whether having a positive or negative impact on a life or lives, knowledge can lead a person to a truly successful route in his or her journey. Having a proper education is essential. In the excerpt from The Hunger of Memory, Rodriguez discusses how he became assimilated to the American education system. He was brought about in a Spanish speaking home and taught English at the age of six. From then, civilizations after civilization, moral texts were kept in the form of the Code of Hammurabi, the Hindu Vedas, and the Bible. The list continues as morality has spanned the entire history of philosophy. These texts all held inquiries into the nature and origins of good persons and good societies (Haidt). • 24. The Effect Of A Clock Reaction On The Reaction Rate Of A... A clock reaction is a form of chemical reaction where multiple reagents are placed together with no apparent change after a time lag until a dramatic colour change appears called the induction period (King, Preece and Billingham, 1999). This abrupt colour change can be due to the limiting reagent being fully consumed which allows the remaining chemicals to react resulting in a colour change. Specific kinetic and stoichiometric conditions are required for this standard clock behaviour to occur. Clock reactions can be highly useful to investigate rates of reaction as the rate of the colour change may differ due to varying factors. The reaction rate of a chemical reaction can be defined as the speed in which the reaction occurs. The speed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 1: Effect of order on the reactant (UCDAVIS 2, 2017) Typically, the order of a reactant does not go beyond a second order. The greater the order is, the greater the increase in reaction rate when the reactant is doubled. The sum of the order of reactants for the experiment is then the order of the overall reaction (UCDAVIS 2, 2017). The two methods to determine the rate law of a kinetics experiment is by initial rates and by integrated rate law. To utilise the initial rates method, multiple experiments can be conducted with differing concentrations and measuring the initial rate for the reactions (Yamauchi, Nord and Schullery, 2016). From this, the reaction order for the corresponding substance can be calculated and the rate constant can be found. However, the method of initial rates requires the chemical reaction to be fairly slow and since several experiments need to be executed, it is not an ideal method. The integrated rate law method utilises integrated rate laws in comparison with the collected data relating concentration and time during a kinetics experiment (SparkNotes, 2017). This method finds the order of the reactant by plotting the time versus a function of the concentration data and using trial and error with a selected rate law. If the integrated rate law is correct, the data points will appear linear and if it is not linear then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anna struggles with the king because their cultural beliefs are so different, but the conflict diminishes after the king finds out that Britain would like to take over Siam. Sometimes remakes are incredible and introduce a generation to great films of the past, however, sometimes they aim too high and miss the mark completely. Scarface 1932 and Scarface 1983 is a great example of the latter. Scarface 1932 was the first of its kind in many respects while Scarface 1983 fell short. While at the core of both of these films they are the same, there are a few small plot discrepancies, but the message of the rise and fall of a man is identical. Visually these films are nothing alike. Beyond the obvious use of color in the 1983 film, the lighting, spacing, and camera work are all different. Scarface 1932 was revolutionary in its use of low key lighting while Scarface 1983 followed typical lighting conventions. The use of symbolism in Scarface 1932 was an added layer of complexity to the film that Scarface 1983 did not have. One thing both films did face quite extensively was censorship. Each film had to be heavily altered in some way in order for the public to view them. While neither film was truly in the production code era each film felt the effects regardless. On its own Scarface 1983 is not a bad film, but when compared to Scarface 1932 it pales in comparison. When one looks into why remakes occur so frequently, the answer that is found is nostalgia. Gangster films stem from nostalgia much like westerns do however in both examples neither one is at all an accurate depiction of the time period. Many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Formalism And Realism In Film Short Critical Essay #3 Option 2 Classical film theories are generally divided into two main camps. They have been categorized as Formalism and Realism. The formalist approach looks at the structure and form of the film. It analyzes the method by which the story materializes and how it forces the viewer to react based on the way it is presented. It incorporates character development, photographic composition, camera movement, set design, editing, etc. to that end. The realist approach scrutinizes how a film represents reality. It is a mechanical reproduction of reality that strives for objectivity and realism. The primary focus is always every day, true to life characters and dilemmas, and the real life situations they are found in. Commonplace themes are the rule. To achieve realism in cinema it was necessary to direct attention to the physical and philosophic problems of ordinary existence. People emerge as victims of forces beyond their control in a world at times seemingly spinning out of control. Although there are also a few similarities, formalism and realism can be shown to offer substantially different approaches to the art of filmmaking and the study of film. Realism is a style of filmmaking that attempts to duplicate the look of objective reality with emphasis on authentic locations and details, long shots, lengthy takes, and a minimum of distortion. Andre Bazin championed cinematic realism. He identifies Realism as a movement of filmmakers who put their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nathaniel Hawthorne also uses different objects in the story as symbols. One of these is the staff of the devil : But the only thing about him, that could be fixed upon as remarkable, was his staff, which bore the likeness of a great black snake . . . (185). This symbol shows the reader the evil that is involved with the devil character because the serpent is an archetype of the devil, or some sort of evil, which is prominent in many different cultures. Another object Hawthorne uses as a recurring symbol is the pink ribbon. The pink ribbon symbolizes the purity and innocence involved with Faith. An Internship Is A Professional Program Introduction In the recent years employers are more interested in hiring new workers with a handful of experience in their field rather than their qualifications. An internship is a professional program that provides practical experiences to students in which they learn and can reflect back on for their future careers. Internships are increasingly becoming more evident in the work force as it helps give employers an opportunity to find good quality employees and in return provides good experience for the intern. Participating in internships, no matter paid or unpaid, is believed to strengthen the probability of acquiring a top notch career in the competitive market. However, the difference between paid and unpaid interns can dramatically change that window of opportunity for those seeking to engage in it. As unemployment rates continue to rise, the competition for internship increases. A large part of the demand market includes newly graduated students who just finished a high educational degree in hopes to outshine their peers who are pursuing the same job. A significant amount of these young people are willingly taking on unpaid internships with the risk of them being unable to sustain their financial need. This ultimately hinders them from climbing up the social ladder (DiMaria, 2013).
