How did you use media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and
evaluation stages?

Research
Within the research stage I used the computers to use the internet in order to get secondary
research for out target audience.This would therefore allow us determine what our target
audience likes and to understand what demographic they are in order to create a media
products around this. In this case we usedYouGov to get a profile on our target audience for
Johnny Cash as seen in the bottom right corner. In addition, we used a camera within the
research stage when filming the target audience interviews and pitches. In doing this, we were
able to understand the target audiences ideas about country music and therefore use this to
represent our music video in a way that would appeal to the audience.The main camera we
used was a Canon Xalo (bottom left corner) in order to film the footage for our pitches and
target audience interviews. This would therefore allow us to improve upon our first ideas based
on the audiences ideas.
Research
• During the research stage we also used Movie Studio
Platinum (bottom left corner) in order to edit the target
audience interviews (bottom right corner).TheTarget
Audience Interviews needed to be edited in order to
get across their ideas and opinions.This would
especially aid our media product as it would allow us
maybe use some of their ideas into our music video and
therefore this would appeal to them and represent our
music video in the correct way.
Planning
• Within the planning stage for the music video I used a canon EOS1300D camera (bottom left)
during the feedback session in order to record shot and talk about them during our research
and planning. For example, during the feedback session for the storyboards we used the
camera to shots in order to place them on Blogger (bottom right) and therefore explain what
shots we have used and why we will be using them. Furthermore, during the planning stage
we used a Shot List and a Shooting Schedule (both in centre) in order to show when the
shots will come into play and when and where we would filming prior to the production
stage.
Planning
• In addition, we also used the computer and MicrosoftWord in order to create a risk
assessment (bottom left) for the locations we were visiting. This would therefore ensure that
while filming we were safe and ensured the safety of others depending on the environment.
In the risk assessment we made sure we covered everything from drunken partiers to
environmental factors like the Walesby Church being old and battered. Lastly, during the
planning stage we used Office 365 (centre) and our phones in order to communicate with the
group and to communicate with the actors needed.
Construction video
• Within the construction stage for the music video we used various equipment or software in
order to come out with an overall media product. For example, we used Movie Studio
Platinum to edit the music video (bottom left) and therefore get an exceptional music video
that will appeal to the audience and represent our genre in the specific way we intended.
Furthermore, we also used our phones to shoot behind the scenes and therefore allow to talk
about this further.We also used Photoshop in order to create the perfect title (bottom right)
for our music video as it stands out and resembles that of Johnny Cash’s. As before we used
our phones and emails to communicate with the actors to ensure they were coming to the
locations on the days set as this would allow the filming stage to go smoothly. We lastly used
a still camera to get specific shots for the digipak and magazine advert which would therefore
allow us to kick start our promotional campaign and represent our genre in a good way as
well as drawing the target audience in to watching the music video.

We decided for some shots to use a colour corrector and stylise these and create a warm feel
especially within the church. Furthermore,We decided for a black and white filter for most of
the shots including the congregation as well as the memories.Therefore we chose to use
‘Mask generator’ and saved a pre-set for easy use.
Construction - Ancillaries
• Within the construction stage of ourAncillaries tasks which were the digipak and magazine
advert we used Photoshop mainly in order to create them. We used Photoshop in order to
play with the gradient, saturation and positioning of each shot.This would therefore be our
main promotional product so therefore it would mean a lot of work would need to go into it.
In doing this,. It would allow us to draw the audience in and represent the genre of country in
a way we intended. Lastly, we used a still camera in order to take the appropriate shots for
the digipak and the magazine advert, this would therefore allow us to complete the ancillary
tasks and promote the artist to the audience in a way that suits our genre of country.
Evaluation
• Within the evaluation stage we have used different technologies whether that is hardware or
software. For example, we used the MP3 player (RollandR-05) in order to record our
Evaluation Question 2 and therefore allow us to answer the question which relates to our
overall coursework and media product. Furthermore, we used the software Prezi on the
computer in order to answer Evaluation Question 1 which was a big question therefore I
needed to use Prezi in order to do this. In using Prezi, I have allowed myself to answer the
question and therefore get a suitable grade for my media product. Lastly, I have used the
software Power point to answer Evaluation Question 4 which is this presentation. By using
these software's I have enabled myself to fully complete the evaluation questions and
therefore attain good grades throughout my work.
Conclusion
• In conclusion, throughout the specific stages of my project I have used different
technologies ranging from Prezi to present work to using hardware like the Canon Xalo to
actually film our music video and our pitches in order to produce a good media product for
my Advanced Portfolio.Therefore, I have used a range of different technologies within the
stages: Research, Planning, Construction of the video, Construction ofAncillaries and the
Evaluation stage.

Evaluation Q4

  • 1. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? BY ADAM COOK
  • 2. Research Within the research stage I used the computers to use the internet in order to get secondary research for out target audience.This would therefore allow us determine what our target audience likes and to understand what demographic they are in order to create a media products around this. In this case we usedYouGov to get a profile on our target audience for Johnny Cash as seen in the bottom right corner. In addition, we used a camera within the research stage when filming the target audience interviews and pitches. In doing this, we were able to understand the target audiences ideas about country music and therefore use this to represent our music video in a way that would appeal to the audience.The main camera we used was a Canon Xalo (bottom left corner) in order to film the footage for our pitches and target audience interviews. This would therefore allow us to improve upon our first ideas based on the audiences ideas.
  • 3. Research • During the research stage we also used Movie Studio Platinum (bottom left corner) in order to edit the target audience interviews (bottom right corner).TheTarget Audience Interviews needed to be edited in order to get across their ideas and opinions.This would especially aid our media product as it would allow us maybe use some of their ideas into our music video and therefore this would appeal to them and represent our music video in the correct way.
  • 4. Planning • Within the planning stage for the music video I used a canon EOS1300D camera (bottom left) during the feedback session in order to record shot and talk about them during our research and planning. For example, during the feedback session for the storyboards we used the camera to shots in order to place them on Blogger (bottom right) and therefore explain what shots we have used and why we will be using them. Furthermore, during the planning stage we used a Shot List and a Shooting Schedule (both in centre) in order to show when the shots will come into play and when and where we would filming prior to the production stage.
  • 5. Planning • In addition, we also used the computer and MicrosoftWord in order to create a risk assessment (bottom left) for the locations we were visiting. This would therefore ensure that while filming we were safe and ensured the safety of others depending on the environment. In the risk assessment we made sure we covered everything from drunken partiers to environmental factors like the Walesby Church being old and battered. Lastly, during the planning stage we used Office 365 (centre) and our phones in order to communicate with the group and to communicate with the actors needed.
  • 6. Construction video • Within the construction stage for the music video we used various equipment or software in order to come out with an overall media product. For example, we used Movie Studio Platinum to edit the music video (bottom left) and therefore get an exceptional music video that will appeal to the audience and represent our genre in the specific way we intended. Furthermore, we also used our phones to shoot behind the scenes and therefore allow to talk about this further.We also used Photoshop in order to create the perfect title (bottom right) for our music video as it stands out and resembles that of Johnny Cash’s. As before we used our phones and emails to communicate with the actors to ensure they were coming to the locations on the days set as this would allow the filming stage to go smoothly. We lastly used a still camera to get specific shots for the digipak and magazine advert which would therefore allow us to kick start our promotional campaign and represent our genre in a good way as well as drawing the target audience in to watching the music video.
  • 7. Shots of editing the music video We decided for some shots to use a colour corrector and stylise these and create a warm feel especially within the church. Furthermore,We decided for a black and white filter for most of the shots including the congregation as well as the memories.Therefore we chose to use ‘Mask generator’ and saved a pre-set for easy use.
  • 8. Construction - Ancillaries • Within the construction stage of ourAncillaries tasks which were the digipak and magazine advert we used Photoshop mainly in order to create them. We used Photoshop in order to play with the gradient, saturation and positioning of each shot.This would therefore be our main promotional product so therefore it would mean a lot of work would need to go into it. In doing this,. It would allow us to draw the audience in and represent the genre of country in a way we intended. Lastly, we used a still camera in order to take the appropriate shots for the digipak and the magazine advert, this would therefore allow us to complete the ancillary tasks and promote the artist to the audience in a way that suits our genre of country.
  • 9. Evaluation • Within the evaluation stage we have used different technologies whether that is hardware or software. For example, we used the MP3 player (RollandR-05) in order to record our Evaluation Question 2 and therefore allow us to answer the question which relates to our overall coursework and media product. Furthermore, we used the software Prezi on the computer in order to answer Evaluation Question 1 which was a big question therefore I needed to use Prezi in order to do this. In using Prezi, I have allowed myself to answer the question and therefore get a suitable grade for my media product. Lastly, I have used the software Power point to answer Evaluation Question 4 which is this presentation. By using these software's I have enabled myself to fully complete the evaluation questions and therefore attain good grades throughout my work.
  • 10. Conclusion • In conclusion, throughout the specific stages of my project I have used different technologies ranging from Prezi to present work to using hardware like the Canon Xalo to actually film our music video and our pitches in order to produce a good media product for my Advanced Portfolio.Therefore, I have used a range of different technologies within the stages: Research, Planning, Construction of the video, Construction ofAncillaries and the Evaluation stage.
