Music Video Regulation Withinthe UK there isa certainsystemthat dealswiththe regulationof musicvideoinorderto preventyoungadultsfromseeingcertainthingsthattheyare too youngto see.The UK systemisrun by the BBFC whichdealswithage ratingswithinmusicvideos.A certificate isgiventoeachmusic videodependingonwhetheritcontains:>Drug Misuse > Dangerousbehaviourpresentedassafe > Bad Language > Sexual behaviourandnudity>Threateningbehaviourandviolence. Withinourmusicvideoof ‘God’sGonna Cut You Down’theyare certainscenesthatviewersunder the age of 12 thatmay finditdisturbingforexample,there are scenesof violencewhenJohnnyslaps hisgirlfriendandwhenthe youngestJohnnyispunchingandassaultinganothermemberof the public.However,thisisthe onlyreal factorthatcouldaffectour classificationbecause we donot have any of the other suggestedfactorslike drugsmisuse orsexual behaviour. Therefore, if we were to classifyourmusicvideowithusingthe BBFCsystems guidelinesthenwe wouldrate ourmusic videoatrating of 12 due there onlybeinga factorof violence involved.
