2. Import footage
• Our first task was to import the footage, there was an issue regarding the aspect
ratio requiring us to un-tick a sync box.
3. Monitoring footage
• We had to cut footage to the require length and delete the audio attached. This
meant we had simply footage to work with and could build a story in time to the
music.
4. Import music
Following that we needed to import the music into our video.
It was essential as the video must be built around this.
5. We added title
• We added our artists name into the piece to help establish the singer allowing fans
to easily identify them.
6. • Our opening footage started with a scene we filmed last, we decided to have a non
linear story line. We then decided to add the congregation scenes intermittently.
After this we added scenes from the cathedral to build an opening, following this
we finished the ending matching it with the music focussing on action points. We
then overlaid footage of ‘fighting’ scenes and lowered the opacity to blend the
images together over the one and another.
7. • We decided for a black and white filter for most of the shots including the
congregation as well as the memories. Therefore we chose to use ‘Mask
generator’ and saved a preset for easy use.We also decided for some shots to use
a colour corrector and stylise these and create a warm feel especially within the
church.
8. • We decided to use slo-mo to ensure it fits in time with the music. This was evident
with the scenes in which I attacked someone as some sections needed to be sped
up whereas others slowed down to increase the realism. This was also used with
the Molotov scene to slow down the pace and create a sense of serialism.
9. For the digipak we firstly imported the frame into Photoshop giving us structure. We
then in a separate tab edited the images we wanted to choose. This included
lowering the contrast and brightness and ensuring the images matched.
10. • We then added the text selecting a Gloucester font throughout to show brand
unity,We chose the artists name ‘CASH’ to be the biggest text as this is common
with his CD’s and he being the major selling point. The single name was also done
underneath the artists name.
11. • We then moved onto the back panel and chose this image, we added the two track
list enabling them to see the songs included. The barcode allowing the CD to be
purchased, we decided on the bottom right corner as this didn’t distract from the
image. The studio logos were included as they represent the company behind the
song and enable the listener to see who funded the CD. Finally the institutional
information ensures the listener is aware of the legal requirements with the CD.
12. • The two inside panels we chose this two images as we felt they helped connote
him and the songs. We left them blank as we thought they were nice images and
didn’t require any improvements.
13. • Finally, we created a basic spine that enabled it to be recognisable when on the
shelf. The name Johnny Cash is recognisable and distinctive, following the
conventions of other Cash albums and singles we decided not to include the name
of the single, to ensure brand identity.
14. • For the poster we decided to create a traditional Cash poster that would by
recognisable with his previous adverts. We imported a slightly faded image of
paper this would help connote the oldness of Johnny Cash.
15. • Following on from this we included the main text and stylised with Gloucester font
and made it red as this was a common theme with his previous images. We
decided ‘Cash’ should be the biggest text as it’s his name that usually draws the
audience in.We also put the release date on as this was another common
occurrence with his music adverts. Finally we included a review by a world
renowned magazine ‘Rolling Stones’
16. • After this we added red lines and stars to split the different text up, this made it
easily readable, it also made the advert stand out.
17. • We finally imported a series of images, firstly the one of Mr Cash with a slight fade
to make seem as if it were printed onto the paper. We continued this with that of
the studio logo.We also included the HMV logo which we included as this is a
retailer with a distinctive logo. Finally two colt revolvers flanked his birth and
death as this was a timely tribute to him.
