How effective is the combination of your
main product or ancillary products
We created a promotional package, consisting of a film
trailer, poster and magazine cover.
What is the purpose of a promotional package?
A promotional package is a collection of items
that when combined together should hopefully
convince someone to come and see your film.
For a promotional package to work well there
needs to be strong and clear interrelatedness
between the trailer, poster and magazine cover.
Typography
In order to ensure cohesion between my products
I used the same fonts across all 3 products. My
fonts are conventional of the horror genre, but are
also different enough to stand out from the crowd.
In order to make the font for my film title, I just
used the original Arial Bold font, but then I went
into Adobe after effects and put a bleeding effect
on the letters. The name of my film.bleeding
appears a cross all 3 of my products.
Typography Continued
Another font that appeared on more than
one of my products was a font called
RUN. This font is stereotypical of the
horror genre because it appears to have
been slashed up. It also is very similar to
the original Friday the 13th font, so that
should hopefully make a connection with
horror fans.
Images.
Another way I have ensure cohesion is by
making it so that the main image on the poster
and the magazine cover is the same shit type
as the last shot in the film trailer, as this is
what they are most likely to remember about a
trailer. I have ensured all 3 images are close
ups looking directs at the butcher, but all with
slight variations so that people don't get bored
of the image.
Colour
With all 3 of my products I attempted to
stick to a colour scheme of red, black
and white. Both the colours black and
red have strong horror connotations of
fear and death, which will help
audiences instantly identify what genre
my film is.
The purpose of using the same 3
colours throughout is I'm trying to
establish a brand/ house style
throughout my products.
Colours Continued
On both my poster and my magazine I
have gone for a dark coloured
background and red text, this again is
another example of synergy and
cohesion between all of my products
Social media tags
Across all 3 of my products you will see the
#MeetTheButcher tag. This is an attempt to
create a social media marketing campaign,
and to get the film heard about more. As my
target audience is the demographic that
typically used Twitter, supplying a # for
people to tweet about the film can mean that
more people will see one of my products,
and the more likely they'll be to watch the
film
