2. When I began the
construction of my 3
main products, I knew
that I had to make sure
that they are affiliated
through the use of
synergy. This means that
all aspects such fonts,
colours, mast heads and
house style must all have
relations and must be
borderline identical. By
looking at my products to
the right, you should be
able to see some
similarities.
3. House Style
I wanted to maintain a proper house style with the colours yellow,
black, red and a hint of white. I researched that many
magazines rely on three colours to represent their house
style as well as the colour white and I wanted mine
to be no different. I made sure that my two
main characters are on show at the front
of my cover, with one of them also
appearing on my poster. This
shows consistency through
all three of my
products and all
three display
synergy.
It is effective
because my
characters, fonts
and colours can
quite easily be
associated with all
three products.
I also did it
through mise
en scene and
showing
consistency
in my editing
techniques.
I placed my poster
on billboards and
bus stops as well.
4. Fonts I used to create a House
Style
Here is a showing of the fonts I used which helped improve the synergy
within my three products.
Although not identical, I feel
that they were the three
nearest fonts I could find to
match each other. It was
extremely important that
they were alike.

Poster:

Company
Name
Despite being extremely
small on the page, I wanted
to improve on my house style
by making both production
company names look almost
identical to show the
importance of synergy.

Another example is the font in both
my cover and my teaser. They are
both fairly similar in terms of colour
and style. These are all good examples
of how I displayed synergy and
showing of how key it is to my
product.
I used
Century
Gothic
across my
three
products.
5. It was also extremely important for me to make my choice of colours match
up well with my genre. An example of not doing this efficiently would be using
the colour white or pink to represent a horror based film. I decided on using a
variety of colours so that my audience would be able to recognise my film as
a Drama. I thought that having a colour scheme along the lines of blue, red,
yellow, black and white across all 3 of my products would allow them to
associate them colours with my film franchise. Drama can be entered into any
sort of film category so I wanted a widespread of basic colours and feel I have
managed to successfully insert them in in some way or form.
What colours did I want to
represent my three
products?
6. Fonts & Typography
For my masthead, I used the colour yellow to help stand out among
the dark background. Another reason why I used the colours black
and yellow is because they are two completely different in colour
ranges. The brightness of yellow and darkness of black made my
centuary gothic font pop up when first looking at my cover, despite
being placed behind the head of my main character. As well as this, I
used white for the colour of my skyline to make it stand out as well,
also displaying it in block capital letters.
7. Film Brands
It was extremely important that my products were all recognisable as
one franchise. My audience must have been able to identify all as one
and I feel I did a good job of making sure that synergy and film
branding was a major part in my three products. An example of this
was making sure at least one of my main characters was displayed in
each of my products. Another example is the use of colours and font
matching to an outstanding degree.
8. Conclusion
In conclusion, I believe that it is a key element to remain affiliated with
synergy and use it to the highest possible calibre that you can. If you
successfully manage to make the audience look at both products and
recognise that they are brands of the same franchise then it can be
announced that you have willingly went to the effort to remain with the
codes and conventions to enhance the quality of synergy and remained
dedicated to your house style.
