3. My research definitely helped me with the choice of my genre and
the whole idea of my film. I looked at a short film called Angst that
inspired me. My research shows a very clear path of my idea and
where I found my inspiration. I do think I could have looked at a few
more short films though to enforce the idea of my genre. I feel like
this wouldn’t have made any difference at all to my final product
because I saw Angst and knew that was the type of film I wanted to
create.

4. With my planning you can clearly see my thought process and
where I want to take my film. With my planning I had a set path that
I wanted to follow to make the production process of my film as
smooth as possible. I feel like I followed all of my planning
reasonably closely, aside from my shot list. I was very optimistic
when I made my shot list and included lots of ambitious shots
which when it came to actually shooting my film I realised that the
shots I was wanting were unrealistic to my skill set so I improvised
and overcame the problem and included some simpler shots that I
would improve in post production.

5. I feel like with the time I had allotted to create this short film I
created something to the best of my ability. But I also feel like with
a little more time I could fine tune my film and create something a
lot better. But I am very happy with my time management, I
finished shooting in one morning and then that left me with a large
period of time to edit my film and create something I am proud of.
With more time to edit my film I think I would’ve filmed some more
shots so I had a lot more to work with, if I had more shots to work
with then I could’ve created something that would've worked a lot
better then the film I have at the minute.

6. On the right is a short film that I
drew a lot of inspiration from.
Called Angst. This shot uses a
deep focus and has movement in
the background. Also the cars start
driving backwards so it includes
some kind of Glitch or unnatural.
On the left is a shot from my short
film, I included the deep focus then
rack shot. Unlike the other shot I do
not have a lot of movement, only the
swaying of the trees and the bunting
on the summer house. And with my
shot I decided I wanted more color
and brightness.

7. My audio was also very similar to Angst with the slight amount of ambient sounds,
but when any visual glitch, the audio also jumped. Be it the audio playing
backwards or no audio at all. I also included some L cuts and J cuts in my movie,
which I feel like really worked.

8. The main focus of my film was all about the editing so I spent the most time tuning and
tweaking my film to make it look as well edited as I could. I really liked the way that my
film looks at the end of everything. In terms of the editing of the clips, every shot I
included in my film has been edited in some way, be it just a little tweak or something
large that changes the whole look of the film. Once I felt I was done I got some peer
feedback from my tutor and he said it was looking a little flat in terms of color. So I
decided to add an overlay to my film that was on every shot. The overlay warmed
everything up and added something that the film was missing before. But I felt with the
shots of the tap and running water the warmth wasn’t really working, so I cut the overly
when it was applied to the tap shot and changed it so the water shots had a very harsh
cold overlay, watching it all the way through I really like the harshness of the change of
temperature between the tap shots and every other shot in the film. I also edited in
physical ways, changing the way the shot flows. For example I had a 10 second vertical
pan of a tree in my film which I felt was two long and needed breaking up in some way,
so to do this I flipped the shot 180 degrees and played it over the top of the original shot.
So this then meant when I cut small 1 second clips out the of original shot it showed
flashes of the same shot but flipped 180 degrees. Editing was a big part of my film,
mainly because it classifies as the experimental genre and to be a part of that a film
tends to be heavily edited. Once I was done with my film I was very happy with the way
all the editing came together and I feel like it all works well.

9. My film clearly has a very specific aesthetic and it is apparent throughout the film that
the aesthetic stays the same. There is a warmth throughout the whole film, with
contrasting shots that show a harsh coldness. I like how the same shot in my film is
repeated over and over but it has different graphical glitches. In terms of creativity I liked
how different my film is to everything else. If it came to me improving my film, I think I
would re shoot some shots just to eliminate any bad shots, for example some things are
not centered or the frame has a slight amount of unintentional camber.

10. I feel like my film has the audience appeal it needs to be successful if it were ever to
go to the box office. The way the film is edited, and the whole idea of the film having
no reasoning at all is definitely something that appeals to the target audience of the
experimental genre.

12.  What did you like about the product?
I like the fact that the there is no real story to the actual short film and it
is more about the appreciation of the shots themselves.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
You could have used some camera movements to make the shots more
interesting, such as a dolly counter zoom.

I like this short film because of the interesting shots and the specific
focus on cinematically pleasing shots.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
I feel like more camera skills could’ve been used to improve the overall
quality of the film.

14.  What did you like about the product?
I liked the whole way everything flowed together but was also
contrasted with the sharp cuts between the different shots.
 What improvements could have been made to the product?
The film could have some better lighting and maybe a little more
time spent on the audio.

15.  What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
I agree with the comment about the camera movements, move camera
movements will definitely make the film a lot better. And also the
comment about how the film is focused more on the cinematic side of
things as apposed to the story telling side of things, I also agree with
that.
 What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I don’t really disagree with any of my peer feedback, all of it makes
some fair points about my work and gives me good feedback. Although I
feel the point about the audio, wasn’t really fair. The audio I included in
my film was refined and was as good as I could create at the time.

16. Based off my feedback I think I would only change some
minor details with my film. I would like to include some more
detailed camera work in my film, and also re record all of the
audio to make sure everything is crisp and clear. I also think I
could put a lot more strange things into my film, more abstract
editing and filters. I could also include some more technical
camera techniques instead of focusing more on the editing
side of things.
