3. When researching My audience I had to do secondary an primary
research. For my primary research I did a survey and for my
secondary I looked at movie reviews on IMDB. The positives of
research where, I knew what my audience would like to see in the
film, and with that knowledge I could adapted and change my film
to suit the audience. I could also see what type of people my
audience are, for instance what gender they are and how old they
are. The negatives of my research where, in the survey I was
limited to only ten questions, and with the secondary research its
sometimes hard to find out thee age and gender.
4. Planning my product was very helpful when making my film. I
made a story board, a shot list, a risk assessment and a call
sheet. All this helped me with my final product. The positives of
planning where, I knew what I was doing before I started filming
my product. And it paints a picture of what your product might
look like. The negatives of planning are, its time consuming, and it
can be quite difficult to think of what shots you might use without
actually doing it.
5. I think my time management was well planned, because I ended
up ahead of schedule. I booked the film equipment way in
advance, and for as early as possible, that way if anything went
wrong, I could easily book it again. However I do wish I had more
time to film as some of my shots are a bit over exposed, so I
could have gone a reshot some stuff, but that’s about the only
problem I had with time management.
6. The camera in hot fuzz is
used quite differently. The
similarities with the camera
are, when characters are
talking the camera is still
and focuses of the
character talking, however
in mine non of the
characters talk but the
camera angles still act the
same way.
This films camera
angles are filmed very
differently to mine. This
film is filmed
cinematically, so the
camera follows to
characters while they
talk.
This films camera angles
are a mix of 21 jump steet
and hot fuzz, it has still
shots and slow moving shot.
7. The sound effects in
this movie is
sometimes for
comedic purpose as
well as to make it
sound realistic. My
film only uses sound
effects to make it
sound realistic.
All the sound effects in
this movie are made to
sound realistic and are
done to make the movie
sound realistic. Apart
from one scene in the
movie where the
characters take drugs, at
that point the sound
effects go cartoony. This
is similar to my film as
the sound effects I use
are to make the film
sound realistic.
The audio in this film is very similar to 21 jump
street, where sound effects are used in a
realistic way, but it’s the music which is used for
a comedic purpose. This is similar to mine as I
used the music to create a comedic moment in
the film.
8. I would describe the
editing in this movie as
quirky because, the
editing it self is meant to
make the audience
laugh. This is nothing
like my film, as I edited
my mine so it looked
normal and realistic.
This film is edited in a
similar way to mine,
the editing isn’t quirky
or weird, its all normal,
its edited like an action
movie, the reason I
edited mine like this
was because I wanted
a realistic vibe to it, so
that the genre became
an action, comedy.
Once again this films editing stile is
very similar to 21 jump streets stile of
editing. The reason I picked this style
of editing for my product is because I
feel it makes my product look more
professional.
9. I think the start of my film looks quite good the exposure and light is good
and the title fits in with the colours. The effects I used aren’t the best, but
considering the software I used to make them, there all right. The stunt I did
in the film looks quite good, in the stunt one of the characters gets punched,
and through camera angles I made it look like he actually got punch. The
strengths of my product are the colours, because they match perfectly with
the genre of the film. The weaknesses of my product are, for the majority of
the film the exposure is a little too high.
10. I think I have appealed to my audience, because in the survey I made, it
said that most people would like to see an action genre, so I combined two
genres, action and comedy, because I thought that it would mix well, also
the audience said that they would watch a police comedy. One thing that
everyone wanted was tension, and I think I managed to create that, with
the use of music, silence and story. The type of music I used is dramatic
which was the type of music chosen by the audience. Almost all the
audience wanted the film to be set outside, so I changed the story so that
every scene could be set outside.
All characters in my film are male, so it appeals to a mostly male audience.
The film contains violence so it will appeal to teens and adults.
12. What did you like about the product?
I liked the story of the film, it was quite simple but conveys everything
well within the short length of time that it had, the music came in at the
right times and the use of a phone as a taser was a nice touch
considering the limited props.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
If there was one thing that I didn’t like about the film, it was that at
times the exposure was too bright for you to see things clearly,
ultimately this didn’t cause too much of a problem, but toning it down
slightly would help the quality of the film greatly.
13. What did you like about the product?
I really liked the idea of the film and I thought that it was shot very
well. There were some clever parts of the film that made it very
enjoyable to watch and the use of effects were clever to.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
For improvements the only thing I would say is maybe more use of
music just to change it up but apart from that it’s a well executed film.
14. What did you like about the product?
The sound track for the short film fits well with the scenes that are
happening throughout. I also liked the sound effects that were used as
they were clear and understandable to hear.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
An improvement would be adding a clearer time that the audience
could see, for example a wrist watch.
Another improvement would be the location because the area doesn’t
really fit well with the concept of the short film.
15. What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
I agree that my film was way to over exposed and it makes some
things to hard to see. And if I had more time I would reshoot some
scenes. I agree that having a wrist watch instead of a phone would
have been better for the audience to see.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I disagree that I should have added more music at the end, because
having no music at that point adds to the awkwardness of the scene. I
disagree that the location was bad, I picked that location because
hardly anyone goes over there, so its easy to film, and it also fits with
the story of the film, because there making a deal and they wouldn’t
do that in public.
16. If I had more time I would defiantly reshoot some shots that were
over exposed, because I feel like that’s the main problem with my
film, as you can hardly see what's going on in some shots. I would
also change the phone to a watch, because the time on the watch
would be easier for the audience to see.
