1. Prelim Task - Evaluation
Overall, I found storyboarding quitedifficult because I am not the best at ART
and I found it hard to figure out how it is going to look like. I also found it hard
to map out what I was actually thinking when it came to storyboarding. I think
that my scripting was good becausemost of the words on my scriptwere
actually said in the film opening. I think that filming went well becauseI never
had to re-do any of the shots and when I finished editing it, it displayed good
continuity throughout. The only small thing that went wrong is during the
opening, there is a little glitch where it does an extra cut which I was unable to
fix as I didn’t know whathappened. Whilst filming, I think that the sound was a
good volumewith not a lot of background noiseand the acting is good as well.
I found that editing was reasonably easy becausewhen it came to putting all
the clips together, I found it quite simple and when I re-watched it, it looked
like it all fitted together reasonably well. Through doing the editing for my
Preliminary Task, I learnt how to edit clips because before we started doing the
Prelim Task, I’d never done editing beforeso that was one of the thing that I
learnt. If I could repeat it again, I would definitely make surethat the lighting is
good enough so you can clearly see what’s happening. This is because I
decided to turn off the lights whilst filming my Prelim Task to give it a quite
spooky effectto fit in with the film title of ‘Shadow Man’. When it came to
watching it, it looked a bit too dark and at one partwhen Joey was meant to be
bringing out what was meant to be a fake gun, you couldn’t really see it very
well. Also, I would add a few more sound effects so it would look more
professionalbecausethe only sound effect that I used was footsteps when
Nathan was walking down the corridor, as the camera was focusing on his
shoes. Overall, I really enjoyed working on my Preliminary Task.
