2. This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
You should complete this each week during production
Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can improve
and actions for the following sessions/weeks
3. During week one of the video rotation we were introduced into the
techniques of filming its self and did some research for our film. We
learnt about all the basics of film making such as Camera Movement,
Camera Angles, Mise En Scene, Editing Terminology and How to sell a
story. We also learnt about our brief that we had been assigned, the brief
is for the Gone In 60 Seconds Film Festival. For the brief we will need
there to be no dialogue, I will need a prop clock in the film, and I will
have to use the phrase “That wasn’t supposed to happen”. I decided to
go for the experimental genre because of how easy it will be to create
alone and how interested the genre is for me.
4. In week 2 we started to do some of the documentation for the actual short
film, such as the initial ideas and the proposal for my short film. This
consisted of making a mind map and a mood board, these helped me pick
a genre and helped me to decide which shots and camera movements I
wanted to use in my short film, it also helped me to mind map the story of
my short film. The short film Angst is what helped me solidify my choice of
the experimental genre. We also made a start on the documents that
needed to be complete for our film.
5. In week three we did some planning for our film and finished all the
required documents that we needed to so we could shoot our film. I also
booked out the equipment that I need to shoot my film. When I next need
to shoot a film or use any equipment I will need to book it out as far
advanced as possible so I wont have any problems when I need the
equipment.
6. Week four consisted of filming my film on the Wednesday. I did this
using a DSLR and a tripod. I used a hand held microphone to record all
of my audio. This way I didn’t have any unwanted sound inside of my
video. I added it all over the top of my clip once it was all sequence and
added some J cuts and L cuts. The rest of the week was spent editing
my film and then by Friday I felt like I was ready to export my film. With
just some fine tuning to do.
7. In week 5 I finished the final bits of editing for my film and
smoothed it around the edges. I am really pleased with the way it
turned out and am proud because I put a lot of effort into it. After
working on my film last week I came back after the weekend and
had a fresh look at my film and asked for my tutors opinion on my
film and he said it needed some colour grading. So I applied colour
grading to my whole film and gave it a warm look. But it didn’t work
with the whole flow of the film so I’ve had to cut the overlay that I
added when it plays over the clips of the clock so the clock doesn’t
have a yellow glow.
