Leah Brackpool documented her process for creating a book cover design experiment. She started with a gradient rectangle that was filled with a flipped version of the background gradient. Additional effects like strokes, shadows, and bevel and emboss were added to the rectangle to create contrast. Text was then added in two different fonts and also given stroke and drop shadow effects. Lastly, additional gradients, shadows, and textures were applied to the text to add depth and dimension to the design. In her reflection, Leah noted she would likely carry over the text and effects but possibly change the fonts, and may also use the same color scheme, for her final product.

• Firstly, I started off
with the gradient
tool and the
rectangle tool.
• With the rectangle
tool, I filled it with
the same gradient
from the
background but
flipped.

• I then add a stroke
around the initial
gradient rectangle,
then adding a
shadow to create
contrast and then I
added bevel &
emboss.

• After this, I added
the text.
• I used the font
‘hello honey’ on
the infatuated text,
and ‘lemon milk
light italic’
on the by leah
Brackpool text.

of the texts.

• Lastly, I finished the
logo for the book
cover by adding a
gradient on the
infatuated text, also
adding an inside
drop shadow to
create depth in the
text. I also added a
bevel & emboss
texture on the by
leah Brackpool text.

7. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• The elements that I will include in my final
product is definitely the text and the effects
but possibly use a different font. I may also
use the colour scheme that I have used in this
experiment.
