Cognitive strategies are processes used to control and focus mental activities like processing, attention, and learning performance. They include techniques, skills, and abilities used consciously or unconsciously. Teaching strategies are classified as pre-instructional, co-instructional, or post-instructional depending on when introduced in the learning process. Metacognitive strategies allow controlling and modifying learning processes based on outcomes and include recognizing learning objectives and self-evaluating activities.
