Essays On Career Goals
Writing an essay on the topic of career goals can be both challenging and rewarding. The
difficulty lies in the need to carefully articulate one's aspirations, motivations, and plans for the
future in a coherent and compelling manner. Crafting an essay that effectively communicates
your career goals requires a thoughtful reflection on your ambitions, the steps you've taken
towards achieving them, and the relevance of your chosen path to your personal and
professional development.
The challenge also arises from the necessity to strike a balance between being realistic and
ambitious in your goals. It's essential to convey a sense of purpose and passion without veering
into the realm of unrealistic expectations. Additionally, structuring the essay in a way that
engages the reader and leaves a lasting impression is crucial. This involves organizing your
thoughts logically, presenting your achievements and experiences cohesively, and demonstrating
a clear connection between your past, present, and future in the context of your career goals.
Moreover, the difficulty is heightened by the need for originality and authenticity. Admissions
committees and readers are often looking for unique perspectives and genuine narratives. It's not
just about listing achievements but also about revealing the person behind the achievements –
your values, motivations, and the lessons learned from both successes and setbacks.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on career goals can be a challenging endeavor, it is also an
opportunity for self-reflection and self-expression. It demands a careful balance of realism,
ambition, structure, and authenticity. Ultimately, the essay serves as a crucial tool for conveying
your aspirations and convincing others of the sincerity and feasibility of your career goals.

Nietzsche s View On The Genealogy Of Morals
According to Nietzsche s assertions in the first two essays of On the Genealogy of
Morals, human beings suffer because they have lost the ability to enjoy life to its
fullest extent. A significant shift in morals occurred from the time of the ancient
Greeks and Romans, who carried out good deeds with a surplus of energy simply
because they could afford to do so, to the predominantly Judeo Christian era of self
repression. This transition demonstrates a decline in our ability to make sense of our
lives and understand our true humanpurpose. Nietzsche suggests that we have
become out of touch with the truth we are no longer present in our lives. He urges us
to recognize the social constraints to which we sometimes unknowingly submit...

Clearly the Greeks fully embraced life, allowing themselves to feel and express a
spectrum of human emotions. One of the reasons Nietzsche so highly values the
Greeks is because while they understood that life is essentially, and inevitably
painful, they still had the strength to affirm it and act decisively, even horribly
(Gemes, ch.12). This is Nietzsche s ideal affirmation of life.
The Judeo Christian mindset, on the other hand, differs in that it inspires self
repression of natural human instincts, leading to suffering in the name of a divine
force called God. They are miserable says Nietzsche, but they tell me their misery is
a sign of being chosen by God (BWE, 135). Christianity and the church were major
foundations of European society in the Middle Ages when life was particularly
difficult due to the plague, low standards of hygiene, and poor quality of education.
Given such horrible conditions, the possibility of an afterlife seemed quite
attractive. Christians were therefore consoled for all their earthly suffering by the
fantasy of an afterlife, so called The Kingdom of God (BWE, 137). They found a
way to rationalize and justify suffering, therefore experiencing it with acceptance
and joy. The idea was that if a person lived a pious earthly life, they would be
rewarded with a more

The Changing Role of Organizational Performance Measurement System
How to create and measure organizational performance measurement system has been
a persistent source of debate. Traditionally, organizational performance management
system included measuring financial ratios, such as return on investments, cash
flows, and cost of sales.
Figure one below depicts traditional performance indicators, focused mostly on
financial measures.

In the recent years the focus has been on measuring non financial ratios, such as
quality, customer satisfaction, safety and other stakeholders. Figure Two shows the
new performance indicators, incorporating quality together with other financial
indicators.

Pete Rose Psychology Personality

Pete Rose was born on April 14, 1941 and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio with his
parents Harry and LaVerne Rose. His father Harry could be described as hard
working, tough, and hard nosed, especially when it came to sports. Harry played
semi pro football and always pushed Pete to give 110% at all times. This attitude
and effort that Pete was exposed to growing up with a man like Harry stuck with
Pete his entire life and as a result he earned the nickname Charlie Hustle , although
it was not originally meant to be a compliment. In spring training of Pete s rookie
year, he got walked by Yankee legend Whitey Ford. Instead of jogging to first base

This need for superiority was not only prevalent in his playing days but also as he
transitioned out of his playing days. In 1986, Rose was player manager of the Reds
and the last player manager in professional baseball, a feat that is unlikely to occur
again. Pete Rose will always be most remembered for betting on baseball while
playing/managing the Reds. Rose denied these allegations for 14 years, even in the
face of substantial evidence including an independent investigative report by Jon
Dowd (better known as the Dowd Report). The defense mechanism most often used
by Rose during this time period was flat out denial. While denying the accusations,
Rose likely received negative reinforcement due to the escape of the emotions
involved in admitting such a terrible act in the eyes of baseball. A potentially big
initial factor behind this is that shortly after the Dowd Report; Rose voluntarily
placed himself on baseball s ineligible list in August 1989 with the agreement from
then commissioner Bart Giamatti that after a one year banishment from baseball,
Rose could apply for reinstatement. Tragedy struck when Giamatti unexpectedly died
from a heart attack before Rose s year long banishment had concluded. Fay Vincent
took over as commissioner after Giamatti s death and was unwilling to reinstate
Rose, as many would have seen the move as disrespectful to
Standard Based Learning And Its Impact On Education
Standard based learning has led to the demise of public education for years. Standard
based learning is an educational system that measures students achievement and
mastery of skills by their performance on assessments. Institutions that implement
standard based learning use learning standards that explicitly describe what students
should theoretically know and what lessons that educators should teach. The learning
standards were created to define the adeptness of the students, ensure the retention of
information, and the acquisition of the appropriate skills. Law makers tend to believe
that standards will make the educational system a better place. With each political
campaign a new educational reform is presented and it usually... Show more content

Southerland cite that NCLB was an improvement policy that required, ... greater
accountability to improve students achievement scores on statewide administered
summative tests for both teachers and school systems. (Aydeniz 234). This can be
said for all of the political reforms the agenda is to improve the test scores not the
education of our children Educators are not only limited financially but they are
deprived to the freedom to actually educate their students. Standards are subjective
requirements that tend to hinder the true abilities of students and educators; no
student is the same therefore it seems almost impossible to require every student to
be able to comprehend on the same levels.
In order to measure student competency evaluations are given. These evaluations
formally known as standardized tests are not only used to measure students wit they
are also used to give an indication of the educators performace.Standardized tests are
the main focus for many educators in state funded public schools. Criterion
Referenced Competency Tests, End of Course Tests, Graduation Tests, Milestones
and state writing tests seem to all have one thing in common; they are used to
determine the amount of money schools will receive. Education is yet another pawn
in the political revenue game. The success rate of the schools determine the amount
of funds that they receive from the government, meaning that if a school does not
meet qualifications then their

Formal Education
Education is very essential in life no matter what age you are. Every day is a new
learning experience, and the possibilities are endless. We are all different people with
different mindsets and life experiences. But, we do not need traditional schooling to
further our experiences in education. We all can learn various things that schooling
will not be able to teach. Formal educationcan enforce freedom, but to a certain
extent. Social class and race can shape the education system on very high grounds. In
many ways, social class and race affect the education system. For instance, if one is
African American, they would be judged entirely on the color of their skin rather than
their knowledge. Is that fair? Absolutely not! They get... Show more content on

A person is more likely to be more successful in life when attaining a higher degree.
They can pursue a successful career that they are passionate about. Higher
education is beneficial because no matter what you choose to do it will always be
there to back you up in the future. Having a college degree can help you with
financial stability as well. But, in today s world, does having a college degree
mean you can get any job at any given place or time? Not always will you find jobs
that need certain degrees to be placed in jobs. Many places prefer no degree than
having one. Some jobs require something even higher. There are a few limitations on
having higher education. Also, by having higher education, it does not necessarily
mean a person knows everything. You may have little to no education and still learn
and know more things than someone with higher education can. For example, in
Blue Collar Brilliance, Mike Rose; Rose s mother had dropped out of school to help
support her family in a diner. She did not need school or a degree to develop
psychological skills. She knew how things worked in a person by socially
connecting to them. Her tip depended on how well she responded to these needs, and
so she became adept at reading social cues and managing feelings, both the customers
and her own. (Rose). That goes to show that higher education is not always needed in
workplaces that use more connection to humans
Differences Between Domesticated And Wild Animals
There are notable differences between domesticated and wild animals. They are
more obvious when compared between different breeds of the same species. For
most domesticated species, the variations within an organism are usually descended
from a single wild species. Variation arises from natural selection, and refers to
variation both within and between species. Darwin did not believe that all
domesticated species arises from a common wild ancestor, however, modern genetics
disproves this.
Research shows that all domesticated dogs arise from their wild ancestor, the
wolves. Similar trends are found in other domesticated animals like cats, horses,
cows, and birds. Specifically, I will be analyzing the trends in domestication of fowl
and poultry. Fowl includes two orders of birds: landfowl (chicken, quail, pheasant)
and waterfowl (duck, goose, swan). Fowl typically refers to wild birds. Poultry
indicates birds that are domesticated and raised for meat or eggs. By analyzing the
behavior, evolution species variation, and domestication of birds, we can determine
the traits selected for different species. Through domestication, many breeds of birds
have evolved with alterations that could be seen as adaptations to the environment.
Behavior of Wild Fowl It is widely known that the domestication of an organism
involves numerous changes: genetically, physically, socially, mentally. An interesting
occurrence to note is reduction in brain size from wild to domestic animals. As
Women And The Construction Industry
With the construction industry projected to grow over the next several years and
project management positions in high demand, the makeup of the construction
industry is often overlooked. When one looks at a jobsite, or even thinks of the
construction industry, the most common image that comes to mind is men working
away in hardhats and neon vests, with women completely irrelevant to this picture.
Women are the largest untapped resource of the construction industry, as it is
believed that men makeup around 99% of the industry (Williams, 2015). For women
entering into the world of construction, it is hard to penetrate the male stigma that
clouds this field, which is why many women often do not pursue careers in
construction. The stereotype of male construction workers must be challenged in
order to help women thrive in construction industry. Women are underrepresented in
the construction industry due to a number of reasons such as, sexism, harassment,
intimidation, and a downfall of opportunities.
Patricia Valeroy, a young college student at Columbia University, began her first
summer internship at large construction company. Although studying civil
engineering, her internship was a construction management position on a luxury high
rise in New York. Eager to get started at what she thought would be the most ideal
internship, her hopes were quickly crestfallen, as the senior construction manager told
her he was unwilling to work with women. As she was sent to do other tasks,
The Importance Of Self Administered Poisoning And

Historically, capital punishment through execution has been administered in
various forms, prompted by the desire to conform to the ever changing standards
of decency. In Ancient Greece, as Plato exhibits the experience that Socrates went
through. The condemned prisoners were given a poison (hemlock) to self
administer themselves on the day of execution. Such is different from the current
system where the condemned prisoners are executed by lethal injection. This paper
seeks to establish whether self administered poisoning would be better that the
current lethal injection approach. While the approaches differ in some aspects,
there are no sufficient grounds for categorizing self administered poisoning as
better than lethal injection, as execution is bound to be cruel as it is done against
the wish of individuals. Self Administered Poisoning Versus Lethal Injection The
depiction of Socrates execution through self administered poison amid having a
discourse with those around him is portrayed by Corner as a humanized execution,
making it appear different from torture (113). However, such does not qualify to
consider the execution as showing respect to the prisoner as a person. As Stack
advanced, such is because of the obvious reality that execution by itself is primarily
a mean of exhibiting the lack of respect for the prisoner (38). In reality, a death row
prisoner can be approached as a patient except that his condition is primarily man
made. The goal in execution is to
Comparing Emerson And Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson says There is a time in every man s education when he
arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide. This
quote is immensely true you should always be true to yourself and you shouldn t
envy people you don t really know that much about. You should stay true to
yourself because if you want to imitate someone who are killing yourself
figuratively. How is your inner self alive if you don t display it no one knows who
you really are so your soul is dead to others. They would just see that you are like
everyone else or like someone else in particular and then you will be compared to
the other person which isn t what people usually want. If someone were to
compare you to someone and you are just off there in the corner hearing this and
they are saying blah blah he s/she s exactly like so and so and you are just like no I
m me , but you have no proof because what they are saying is true. Your inner self
would never be known to people if you like to hide away and just do what it is
popular they we ll see you as just no one special and everyone wants to have
something different about them that s what makes people awesome there is not two
of the same exact people, so why would you want to strive to be exactly like another

Introduction
Presidential appointments can encourage loyalty to an incoming administration,
however actions that exemplify loyalty can come at the expenses of organizational
effectiveness and efficient. O Leary showed how appointment strategies and hiring
freezes influenced the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Donald Trumpand his
new appointee Betsy DeVos who most politician agree that she has consistently
demonstrate that she was against access to public education. Her beliefs and goals
seem to be completely different from department in which she was appointed, this can
have a negative effect on the effectiveness and efficiency within the education
department. This strategy of appointing public servants or a hiring freeze can have a
negative effect, because the government tends to ignore the organizations mission and
goals, as well as disrupting the agency operations and even increasing the expenses to
the government. Also, the hiring freeze will soon decimate recruiting. If an
organization reclassifies the action as a Headcount Freeze and clearly articulates the
rules around the action, the outcome can be quite different. A headcount freeze
means that the organization must maintain the current number of full time equivalent
(FTE) workers (Hiring Freeze: Two words that can cause irreparable damage, 2016).

Reasonation Styles Of Rebecca Loot, Rebecca Fadiman
And...
There are multiple argumentation styles and types of reasoning a writer can use to
make their argument effective. There are three main argument styles, which are
called the Aristotelian approach, the Rogerian approach, and the Toulmin approach.
Each of these styles incorporates evidence in different ways and have the claim stated
in different sections of the argument. There are different types of reasoning that can
be used to strengthen a writer s argument, which include inductive and deductive
reasoning. However, writers can accidently use fallacious reasoning, which can make
their arguments invalid and unreliable. Fallacious reasoning can also discredit the
author s argument. Anne Fadiman and Rebecca Skloot have different and similar
writing techniques. Anne Fadiman uses a Rogerian approach in her writing whereas
Rebecca Skloot uses the Aristotelian approach. Even though they both have fallacies
within their arguments, Rebecca Skloot is more effective and successful in her
arguments than Anne Fadiman because she uses an Aristotelian approach and uses
different types of inductive/ deductive reasoning to strengthen her claim.
Anne Fadiman, uses a Rogerian approach as her argumentation style in her book
called The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down. A Rogerian argumentation style is
a conflict solving technique that works towards finding a common ground. For
example, in the beginning of her book, Fadiman states:

Nuclear Weapons Of The United States
Nuclear weapons have provided states that possess them with the firepower to deter
attacks since the United States developed the first bombs in the 1940 s. Those states
with the abilities to develop such weapons have solidified themselves atop the global
hierarchy. Since few states have such weapons, it is naturally attention grabbing
when a nation is revealed to be in the process of developing them. Iranbegan a
nuclear program in the 1950 s with the help of the United States, who suspended help
after the Iranian Revolution in 1979 (Breachy and Sinha 1 3). After the monarchy
was overthrown and replaced with a clerical Islamic government, many nations,
especially the United States, began to fear that the Iranians were using their nuclear
program to create weapons of mass destruction (Brachy and Sinha 10 13). Over the
years, sanctions from the United States, the European Union, and other central
powers, have crippled Iran s economy. After the election of President Ahmadinejad in
2005, who supported the Iranian Nuclear program and offended Israel by calling the
Holocaust a myth, many great powers have began to work with Iran in an attempt to
retard its nuclear capabilities in return for a reduction of international sanctions. Many
actors in these negotiations want different things. Iran would like to have the
sanctions against it lifted while maintaining the ability to develop nuclear weapons.
This would allow Iran to boost its position at the expense of others in the Middle
Eugene Onegin A Superfluous Man s Ending

Onegin A Superfluous Man s Just Reward Makes Up For an Unhappy Ending Eugene
Onegin, the disillusioned young man at the heart of Pushkin s eponymous mid 19th
century novel in verse, Eugene Onegin, is a quintessential manifestation of the
superfluous man. His existence as such renders the ending while not happy,
sentimental, or romantic just and authentic, a phenomenon that might prove even
more literarily gratifying than that of a neatly tied up tale of devotion. Eugene
Onegin is essentially the story of a poor rich boy who is blessed with everything but
satisfied with nothing. Eugene wastes his days away in St. Petersburg at grand balls
with the affluent and beautiful,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tattiana is the beautiful, innocent, and spirited older sister of Vladimir s unfaithful
fiancГ©, Olga. Before Vladimir s death, Tattiana is quite taken with Eugene, at one
point even writing him a sweet letter vehemently expressing her love. He does not
reply, but does condescend to give her a lecture, warning her to be more careful with
her affections. Shortly after this exchange Eugene kills Vladimir, Eugene leaves the
country, and Tattiana and Eugene do not see each for a long time. Years later, Eugene
sees Tattiana across a ballroom in St. Petersburg. She is young, vibrant, beautiful,
married to an older prince, and virtually the belle of society. Eugene becomes
infatuated, and what follows is pure satisfaction for Pushkin s audience. Eugene
pursues Tattiana with all his charms and machinations, even writing her multiple
letters in a stark echo of their not so forgotten past. Tattiana doesn t reply (of course),
and ultimately spurns Eugene, informing him that she will not let him ruin her life,
and she will not be unfaithful to her husband. So at the culmination of Eugene
Onegin, Tattiana ends up morally content, happy, rich, and even her young, stupid
self is vindicated. Vladimir is dead, and Eugene is lost, bereft, nonplussed, and
Leadership Of The Coast Guard
1.Leadership in the Coast Guard is the process of guiding and inspiring others
toward closer adherence to the core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to
Duty. Leadership is a set of behaviors rather than just a set of ideals. Ideals are
good, but ideals without the corresponding behaviors are useless. The best way to
guide others is to show by example; a true leader not only speaks out in favor of the
corevalues, but also exhibits them in their daily life.
2.Although leadership traits can be studied from textbooks, the best way to adopt
good leadership traits is to follow an example of positive leadership. In my career, I

approximately five minutes after I installed it. I was horrified by this turn of

Climb Mount Everest Research Paper
Should you risk your life for bragging rights? I believe people should be acquiesced
to climb Mount Everest because it is a great experience people to go climb to the
top. However in my opinion, I think only some people should be able to climb it,
such as athletic people because you must be fit or you are more likely to fail or to
not make it to the top. You must have trained as well , so you can be experienced.
Someone can t just go up there without knowing what to do because you are setting
yourself up to be unsuccessful.. I understand why some people would want it to be

people die, is because they don t have the right resources or equipment. These people
Marketing Strategy Of A New Company
Recently, I helped a new company who wanted to help tech startups connect with
investors. They had invested quite a bit of time and money into a marketing strategy.
When I looked over their strategy, it was all about the benefit of their products and
had nothing to do with the startups they were trying to do business with.
Understandably, they were frustrated that their efforts were not getting any traction
with their target audience, and they were worried that all of their wasted time and
money would be their undoing.
Fortunately, we were able to make adjustments to their strategy before they went
under. All they needed to do was shift their message from being all about their
products to being all about their potential buyers. We took the time to develop a buyer
persona and created marketing that spoke to that person. Since their top down
approach to selling their service required them to go straight to CEOs and other
executives, we researched who was at the top of the startups they could sell to. In our
research, we found a number of commonalities that all of these people shared, and we
used that information to create specific messages that would catch the buyers
attentions and provide a solution to their problems. This buyer centric approach not
only improved their conversion rates and increased their revenue, but it essentially
saved the company from being yet another failed startup.
Are you putting time, money, and effort into your marketing strategy, but not
Comparison of Donne and Jennings Poetry
Consider the ways in which Donne and Jennings use form, structure and language
to present their thoughts and ideas. You should make relevant references to your
wider reading in the poetry of love. The poem the The Anniversary By John Donne,
is a metaphysical poem about the sun itself growing older each year, this process
reminds Donne that him and his lover are closer to their end. The second poem is
called One Flesh , and is written by Elizabeth Jennings. In the course of this poem
Jennings explores the relationship and separateness of her now elderly parents. There
are multiple contrasting factors between these two poems, considering they are both
written from different time periods and view love in sharply differing perspective....

Therefore, some may interpret their love as lasting forever because they are
everything , possibly even death itself. On the other hand, in the Jennings poem
One Flesh the loss of love can occur without the physical death of two beings. As
both these elderly couples continue to live but have already dead love. The quote;
lying apart now is particularly ambiguous, it may show how the lovers lay apart
from one another in life or either how they are already dead and lay apart in
separate coffins. Either way it can be seen to show a lack of love, by the notion of
them both being apart . The cycle of fire is metaphorical to the death of love, as
Jennings notes fire she came from has now grown cold . This may imply how no
fire, which represents passion cannot last, and will soon have a death and turn cold
. Nonetheless, there is a slight connection to Donne s poem and the idea of love
being continued in the afterlife. Jennings sees the partners distance as being
strangely apart yet straggly close together . The repetition of strangely highlights
how this is an abnormal circumstance, as Jennings could be communicating how
that despite their difference the bond of love is strong and will hold them
together, maybe even in death. Moreover, a desire to escape love and be free from
it can be communicated by how the woman partner is dreaming of childhood .
Childhood can signify a young girl s dream of growing up and having a fairy tale

Scapegoat In Animal Farm
Throughout the satire ridden story of Animal Farm by George Orwell, there are
several symbolic and enigmatic roles that show up repeatedly. An example of these
reoccurrences is the scapegoat or enemy character that seems to be omnipresent. This
being is always the first to be blamed for practically everything, and/or is threatening
to the main characters. This sort of role is necessary for the animalsand the storyline
because the character motivates them and unites them against a common enemy. The
enemy has to change because it must be displayed that the identity of the character
doesn t matter, just the effect that it has. If there were no enemy in any society, they
would not feel so much as a whole and have no outlet to direct their anger... Show

He does this by writing in a way that demonstrates how even as the identity of the
part differs the effects of it remain constant. Stated in the text is, Jones and all his
men...were coming up the cart trade that led to the farm...every animal was at his
post...the next moment all the animals together were chasing them round and
round the yard. (Orwell 16) Later on in the story you can find this text evidence:
Sentinels were places at all the approaches to the farm...Frederick and his followers
had already come through the five barred gate...Boldly enough the animals sallied
forth to meet the men...they charged forth in a body and made straight for the
enemy. (Orwell 39) These pieces of text show two different occasions in which the
enemy characters at the time are coming to attack the farm. Jones and Frederick are
somewhat different people with different relationships to the animals. Jones was the
drunk of a farmer that previously owned Animal Farm and failed to take proper care
of the animals and treat them justly. Frederick was the tough, deceitful overseer of
the neighboring farm Pinchfield who often abused his animals. However, all these
differentiations can be put aside since they were both in the role of enemy . Because
of what character part they were filling, their presence in the book resulted in the
same effects on the animals. They
Advantages Of Tourism Essay
Theme: Tourism
A very good morning to our English for Effective Communication lecturer, Madam
Pushparani Anthony and fellow friends. In this wonderful morning, I would like to
give a talk on Tourism . In my speech, I am going to share with you some
information on the beauty of Malaysia and the advantages and the disadvantages of
tourism towards the development of Malaysia. Basically, tourism is a practice of
travelling for pleasure especially on one s holidays. It is an organized journey
where several places are visited. When it reaches the time to decide the location
for your holiday, most probably you will be choosing a foreign country such as
Korea, Japan, China or European countries like Germany, France, United Kingdom
and Italy. Since we are born in Malaysia and have been living here for years, it is
understandable why most of us willing to choose foreign country as the destination
for our holidays trip instead of domestic tourism. It is true that you may be
experience a whole different culture and lifestyle in others counties, but do not forget,
Malaysia is also one of the most beautiful and fascinating tourism destinations of
South East Asia. As we already knew, Malaysia has a multi ethnic, multicultural and
multilingual society. There are various types of people with different racial and
religion, yet living peacefully as one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, I want to share the advantages and the disadvantages of tourism towards the
development of Malaysia. Have you think before what are the effects of tourism in
Malaysia? Will it be positive effects or negative effects? In my opinion, tourism is
a useful way to helps people to relax and keep themselves far away from stressful,
busy urban life. I am sure that all of us are waiting anxiously for the holiday, just to
escape ourselves somewhere in the mountains or on the island. I believe, just by
packing our luggage with family or friends, we can easily feel wonderful and
Roxana Quotes
Roxana is the cause for the loss of her children, because she continues to stay with
her husband when he becomes an irresponsible, poor man, indicating how she is a
selfish mother. She talks about the different chain of causes, which leads her to the
loss of her children. In the beginning of the novel, she talks about how his business
started to decline and that he had to shut down his trade. With five children, they
began to struggle, especially him. Instead of him buying a house and providing for
his family, he neglected it, liv d on as he did before, kept his Horses and Men, rid

Roxana always wanted him to leave, but she thought that if he did, he would starve
his family, and he did. She says, ... I was dreadfully frighted at last, and the more
when I look d into my own Circumstances, and considered the Condition which I
was left; with five Children, and not one Farthing Subsistance for them, other than
about seventy Pound in Money, and what few things of Value I had about me,
which, tho considerable in themselves, were yet nothing to feed a Family, and for a
length of Time too (52). Here, she noticed that he is really gone, and now she is
scared, because she cannot take care of her and her children without him. This chain
of event connects to her husband s negligence. Since she made the decision to stay
with her husband, despite the hardships that he placed his family and himself in,
he left her. So, she cannot take care of her nor her children because she is not
familiar with being an independent woman living in a male dominant world. This
cause could have been avoided if she were to leave him when she realized that he
was becoming broke and irresponsible; however, she was dependent on him
because he made the money and she worked in the private sphere. Overall, this
connects to Hobbes philosophy of the chain of events, because her husband s
negligence and him leaving leads to the next event that brings us closer to the loss of
her children the will, and, because of her husband leaving her, she had to reach out for
Patient Empowerment
Among several skills, good communication is important to have as a nurse. I will
be covering what factors should be considered when a nurse and patient hold
different values and if there should be limits on patient empowerment. I will also
be giving an example of patient empowerment that may pose an ethical dilemma,
along with discussing how I would respond to a patient whom I thought was
making an unwise decision. The purpose of this discussion is to discuss the
outcomes of patient empowerment. As nurses, we are not always going to agree
with the patient s decision. We as humans do not always agree with our loved ones.
The factors to consider are that every patient has their own beliefs. Nurses must be in

We provide them with fluids and medications to help them with the withdrawal
symptoms and help them stay comfortable. Sometimes, it is hard to take care of
these patients. We can encourage them to continue to stay clean after the detox.
However, half of them go right back to the drugs and they come back to us to
detox. Once we see frequent flyers, it is hard to respect their decision to continue
to come and detox when it feels like they are wasting our time and theirs. I have
already disagreed with a patient s decision, with something as small as a patient
refusing to allow me to perform neuro checks on them or refusing to take their
potassium. I feel the only thing I can do is to make sure the patient is full educated.
They have the right to refuse and make their own decisions. I also do not feel as if
patient empowerment should be limited. The patient knows their body the best and it
is their right to decide what happens or not. We encourage empowerment by being
mutually respectful (Burkhardt Nathaniel, 2014, p.521). In conclusion,
empowerment is essential to nursing and patient care. Patients have the right to
empowerment and it should not be limited. They know themselves best and
ultimately should make the final decision. We can only make sure they are fully
educated. It is imperative for nurses to have self awareness to

Consequences Of Deception In Romeo And Juliet
Never attempt to win by force what can be won by deception. ― Niccolò
Machiavelli. The term deception takes a part in betraying another for one s self
interest. It was a key element within Shakespeare s work. Romeo and Juliet is one
of the prime examples of this topic. They showed deception very clearly by hiding
their actions and betraying their families, leading to their tragic ending. However,
it was not the only piece Shakespeare wrote that showed the multiple consequences
caused by an act of betrayal. The power of deception and the consequences that
follow is a staple in literature, and no one shows this idea more clearly than
Shakespeare. Oh! What A Tangled Web We Weave When First We Practice To
Deceive Sir Walter Scott. Shakespeare is one of the most celebrated authors in
history, weaving deception throughout his writings. As he wrote about love,
deception was seen over and over within his pieces. An example of Shakespeare s
work is from Sonnet 138, O, love s best habit is in seeming trust. This sonnet was
based around a man and his mistress. The man knows that she lies about being
faithful, but he also is aware that they do it in order to protect each other and their
relationship. Later in Sonnet 157, the audience sees the outcome of the deception in
Sonnet 138, as they are told that the man and his mistress are no longer. In the story
of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo quotes, O, how may I call this lightning? O my love!

Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems Theory
Discuss Bronfenbrenner s ecological systems theory and how it applies to the plight
of children in the European migrant crisis In order to understand how Bronfenbrenner
s ecological systems theory of human development applies to children of the
European migrant crisis, it may be useful to start by explaining what the ecological
systems theoryis. This theory was published in 1979 and was developed by
developmental psychologist, Urie Bronfenbrenner. It is an evolving theoretical system
developed for the use of scientific study on the area of Human Development
(Bronfenbrenner, 2005 as cited in Damon Lerner, 2006, p. 793). Human Development
describes the growth in humans throughout their lifespan (http:/
/psychology.about.com/od/developmentecourse/f/dev_faq.htm). The bioecological
model of human development is defined as the following; The phenomenon of
continuity and change in the biopsychological characteristics of human beings, both
as individuals and as groups. The phenomenon extends over the life course, across
successive generations, and through historical time, both past and future. (Damon, M.
Lerner M. R, 2006, p.793) How does this bio ecological systems theory apply to the
children in this modern day European migrant crisis? As stated above, this theory has
been developed to scientifically study the area of human development, an area which
is central to children in particular. Bronfenbrenner argues that the environment around
the individual is what
Throughout history, anti-Semitism has been a reoccurring...
Throughout history, anti Semitism has been a reoccurring problem in which the
Dreyfus Affair was an important event. The Dreyfus Affair was a political scandal,
which divided France from the 1890 s to the early 1900 s. It was a very important
event in history. 1894 marked the start of a revolution for Jewish people, as a
French Jewish artillery officer, Captain Alfred Dreyfus was accused of treason
(Isseroff). The accusations against Dreyfus were false all because he was a Jew.
Following his accusation Dreyfus accumulated many followers that became known
as Dreyfusards and there were also those who were against him called anti
Dreyfusards (Drefler). Alfred Dreyfus was born into an upper middle class on

He was convicted of treason by court martial in December 1894 and sentenced to
life imprisonment in solitary confinement on Devil s Island, a prison off the coast
of French Guiana (Derfler). Before his deportation to Guiana he was publicly
degraded and humiliated. This false conviction was based on a list called the
bordereau, which contained admission to secret French military information
(Dreyfus). This list was picked out of the garbage pail of Maximilian Von
Schwartzkoppen, a German military attach in Paris (Johnson). Many years passed
before the truth was uncovered, Dreyfus was innocent and although false
information was used he was an easy target because the writing in the bordereau
matched his handwriting and the information came from an artillery officer
(Johnson). In 1899, Alfred Dreyfus was granted a presidential pardon and it is
unwritten that he had committed treason against Dragnev 3 France (Martin). It was
a matter of life or death because Dreyfus feared that he would not survive the well
known penal colony. The bordereau looked to connect an artillery officer since it
intended access to specific information regarding a new French artillery weapon
called the Modele 1890 120mm Banquet howitzer (Read). Along with the fact that
Dreyfus was a highly skilled artillery officer, he was
How Does Ice Affect Ice Cream
Title: How is the time it takes ice cream to freeze affected when the amount of
Sodium Chloride(salt) added to the ice used to freeze the ice cream is changed?
Purpose
The purpose of the experiment is to see how the freezing process of ice cream is
affected when different amounts of Sodium Chloride are added on the ice that is used
to freeze it.
Background Information
The three most common states of matter are solid, liquid and gas. When a person
has made ice cream, the ingredients go from a liquid to a solid state which is called
freezing. In the liquid state, the substance s molecules are the most loosely packed of
the three states of matter and have no definite volume. Because of this, they will
usually take the shape of whatever container they are put into. The solid state
however is the complete opposite. In this state, the molecules are tightly packed and
are unable to move around freely. (Classifications of Matter) ... Show more content on

In order to freeze the ice cream must reach a little below the freezing point of ice,
which is 32 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 degrees Celsius. The words freezing point just
means the temperature where a liquid transition into a solid. That s where salt come
into play. Salt does something called freezing point deprivation. Freezing point
deprivation is when the freezing point of a solvent is lowered when a solute is
added to it. In this case salt is being added to ice. A common example of freezing
point deprivation in real life would be when salt is added to the roads right before it
snows. Assuming the temperature is around 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the salt lowers
the freezing point of the snow by a few degrees and as a result, the snow melts when
it hits the
King Lear Madness Essay
What defines madness? Is it a state of being that is derived from deterioration of
the brain, or is it just extremely foolish behavior created by mayhem and chaos?
Perhaps, it is a collaboration of the two, for without sane cognition the basis of
irrationality would not be present, such is the case of King Lear. He is a man riddled
with madness inside and out, yet through his state of frenzy and turmoil, Lear unveils
unexpected guidance, validity, and enlightenment. It seems impossible for two
opposing ideas to have subsequent logical soundness, but it is the goal of this essay
to clearly defend the paradox that exist between madness and truth. King Lear,
illustrates a paradox of how madness illuminates the truth by demonstrating how an...

348) Also, through centuries of research, madness has been known as a condition
that can be caused by a combination of biological, psychological, or environmental
conditions, which can be associated to: a traumatic event, genetics or any type of
abuse. Therefore, by defining, characterizing, and examining the condition of
madness, it is equally important to point out similar behavior displayed by King
Lear. Lear s deeds provide key insight into the condition plaguing his mind. For
example,
Shakespeare begins by introducing the reader to Lear s madness in the opening
scene of the play: Tell me, my daughters...Which of you shall we say doth love us
most? That we our largest bounty may extend Where nature doth with merit
challenge (Shakespeare 1.1.47, 50 52). Lear s initial intent of shifting power to his
daughters is equitable to that of a retired old man, who wishes to shake all
care...while we unburthened crawl toward death, (Shakespeare 1.1.38, 40). However,
in the exact moment that Lear allocates his well being to his daughters, the entire
dynamics of their relationship has thus transcended from parent to child. His status
has become situated to a lower hierarchy, and can be seen as a foreboding on his
mind as well as his country. Rebecca Munson symbolically makes this connection
when she states, any inversion of sovereignty, either in the body natural or the body
politic, not only morrows but causes such an

Everyday of their lives, people are bombarded with advertisements pushing to sell
them something, or broadcasting a new and upcoming television program. The
average American sees as many as 300 500 advertisements per day. Some see as
many as 1,200 a day. (Jean Kilbourne, Ed. D.) General media is tied with public
relations, and has become a source of entertainment to the public eye. Women are
usually seen as eye candy, to attract the male heterosexual audience. Men and woman
are usually portrayed in different ways, on national television, and Hollywood films.
Men usually play the tough guy, macho man roles, while the women are
predominately represented as white, young, glamorous, heterosexual, and less
influential then men. (Campbell and Carilli, 2005) Attractive women are usually
displayed in both male and female advertisements, and play a double role. Women
will think that if they purchase this product, they will resemble the model
advertising the product, and the men are tricked to think that if they purchase the
product, that they will attract women like the ones advertising the product. This is
the sex sells propaganda tactic. Models in the advertisements aren t supposed to
look like the average, ordinary people. To sell products, advertisers use computer
generation tools, to erase any flaws, to appeal to a consumer. The goals of print
media are usually reached, and out to target the younger audience. According to a

Taking a Look at Twitter
Twitter can greatly influence people s social behaviour as it affects the way people
communicate with others, the type of information they share on twitter as well as
the influence this information has on their way of thinking and behavior. In my
experience, it is very common especially for younger individuals to be greatly
influenced by the trends of their time and follow specific examples which are
suggested by such social networks. As far as I am concerned, social networks play
an increasingly important role in shaping the behavior of Web users. Twitter
stands out from the others, not only for the platform s simplicity but also for the
great influence that tweets can have (Del Campo et al. 2013). Twiter can greatly
influence people s social behavior as it affects the way people communicate with
others, the type of information they share on twitter as well as the influence this
information has on their way of thinking and behavior. It is very common
especially for younger individuals to be greatly influenced by the trends of their
time and follow specific examples which are suggested by such social networks.
Despite twitter s increased popularity, very little is known about its effect on one s
personality and social behaviour (Qui et al. 2012). Taking into consideration the
millions of twitter users daily, it can be said that microblogging constitutes a written
record of people s behavior (Qui et al. 2012). By studying microblogging,

The Big Shift By Darrel Bricker And John Ibbitson
The thesis put forth by Darrel Bricker and John Ibbitson in The Big Shift: The
Seismic Change in Canadian Politics, Business, and Culture and What It Means for
Our Future , is premised on the notion that the Laurentian Consensus has ended due
to its reluctance to accept the changes that Canada has gone, and will go through.
They argue that their resistance to change created an opportunity for the
Conservative party to become the new natural governing party in Canada(Bricker
Ibbitson, 2013). By recognizing and acting on these changes, the Conservative party
built a platform for success which lead to the outcome of the 2011 federal election.
They argue that the seismic shift in the demographics of Canadian voters from one
side of the political spectrum to the other granted Conservatives this victory. This
paper will explore the flaws within their argument, and the extent to which this shift is
perpetual in nature.
The Laurentian Consensus can be defined as the collective rule by those along the St.
Lawrence River including Ottawa, Kingston, Toronto, Montreal and Quebec political,
business, academic, cultural and media elites. This long standing coalition, closely
linked with the ideas and values of the Liberal party has been the reigning power in
Canadian government over the last century. The authors emphasize that the
Laurentian consensus coming to an end signifies a shift from old to new Canada,
with new values emerging and political fundamentals have fallen into
Who Is The Antagonist In Midaq Alley

Midaq Alley by Naguib Mahfouz is the entertaining story of a unique local alley in
Cairo who demonstrates on a day to day basis the true colors of a quintessential low
class Egyptian society, in a contrast with a present day Egypt that hopes to modernize
as the end of World War II occurs. It is the characters that inhabit this alley, along
with their individual and communal stories and links that they share that excel this

at the beginning of the night are usually no more exciting that the idle thoughts that
randomly pop into our heads when we re awake. But as the night progresses, the
length of each dream increases (the last dream can be up to twenty minutes long), the
body responds more intensely (increased heartbeat, respiration, muscle twitching),
and the dreams become deeper.
Dreams are sometimes said to be ordinary sequences of images that are experienced
by the mind during sleep. For thousands of years they were regarded as divine
visitations or predictions. Dreams were not really scientifically ... Show more content

Dreams are rudiments of the great state to come. We dream what is about to happen.
Bailey.
Within sleep, there are two distinct states or cycles, called non rapid eye movement
(non REM) and rapid eye movement (REM). Each state is as different from the other
as it is from wakefulness. Throughout the night, you alternate between the two states
over the corse of four to six cycles.
Non REM sleep consists of four distinct stages; each characterized by progressively
slower brain wave patterns, which indicate progressively deeper sleep. When
children enter stage three or four, it is almost impossible to wake them up, unlike
teenagers and adults. As the cycle proceeds, heart rate and blood pressure drop,
movement of food through the gut speeds up, glucose consumption by the cells
slows, and muscles relax. After stage four, you quickly move backward through the
stages into a lighter sleep. After a series of body movements, you enter the evening s
first REM, or dream, stage, which lasts only one to five minutes.
During REM, the synchronized brain wave activity characteristic of deep sleep
breaks up and begins to look a lot like that of wakefulness. The amount of oxygen
your brain consumes exceeds that used during intense physical or mental exercise.
The hyperactivity in the brain is coupled with an almost total
Community College Vs University Essay
Comparing and Contrasting University and Community Colleges
People have many different views about going to either a university or a community
college. There are many similarities and differences between universities and
community colleges in ways such as lower tuition rates, student population, academic
programs, degrees, Greek organization, academic clubs, sports, commuters, residents,
and credit classes.
A community college is different from a university because it has a lower tuition
rates. Tuition at East Mississippi Community College usually ranges from about
1,000 to 2,000 dollars, where at The University of Alabama College the tuition rate
is about 3,000 to about 8,000 dollars. East Mississippi Community College is also

At East Mississippi Community College people can only get into academic clubs
and organization like Delta Epsilon Chi, Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Phi Sigma, and
Phi Beta Lambda. The University of Alabama is also different because of their
academic clubs and organization like Greek life. The University of Alabama
Greek life usually consists of frats and sororities like Kappa Alpha Psi, Alpha
Kappa Alpha, and Omega Psi Phi. Academic club at The University of Alabama are
French club, college republicans, and young democrats. Sports at a university and
community college are also different. At East Mississippi Community College the
only sports that they offer are basketball, baseball, and football. The University of
Alabama sports usually consist of golf, soccer, lacrosse, gymnastics, and wrestling
team. University colleges are always a good choice because of the different
academic programs, more sports to play, and different college activities. University
and Community colleges are similar because they both have academic programs,
academic clubs, and sports.
In comparing and contrasting a university and a community college, people can learn
that they are alike by having residents, commuters, and transferring credits. People
can also learn that they are different by the tuition rates, population, academic
programs, and degrees people can

Defining Leadership And My Opinion
1.In defining leadership and in my opinion, I would have to say that it is a method
that people use to encourage others to achieve a common goal by always
performing tasking the proper way. What I mean by my definition is that every day
one is placed in a position to alter from standard procedures. Whether it be briefing
the Command about something important or fixing a million dollar diesel engine,
there exists a time in many circumstances where slight deviation from procedures
will make the job easier. This is where leadershipcomes into play. A leader that has
instilled a firm foundation of ensuring those under them are aware of the implications
of taking a shortcut and are properly taught how to do tasking, will not only be even...

The OIC told me that he would have rather the unit fail the inspection than to see me
allow someone to take a short cut. This immediately taught me a valuable lesson to
not ever take the easier route just because it is easy. Meaning, had I took the extra
few minutes to have my personnel properly stow the equipment not only would the
job been officially complete, but the lesson I would have taught the junior personnel
would have been more important than the score of the inspection.
3.The first area that I am going to work toward altering is under the Challenge the
process practice. In the area of Challenging people to try out new and innovative
ways to do their work is an area that I thought I was excelling in. As per the LPI
report, that is not the case. I gave myself a higher score than I actually received.
Even the comments that were left stated that I needed to be a little more open
minded. In my job most tasking is driven by a procedure or there is a manual
somewhere that will drive one to a decision. This sometimes leads me in a direction
to repair the problem at hand and move on to the next problem. I often do this
without asking for any insight from those working for me. Effective immediately I
am going to cease and desist this action. If time permits
Kyoto Inferno Essay
The Rurouni Kenshin : Kyoto Inferno is just as good as the first unlike some
swordplay genre movies like Solomon Kane, The mask of Zorro, The Duelists, and
The Vampire Hunt which are very brutal. The Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto Inferno and
its leading character Himura Kenshin also known as Hitokiri Battosai is very
admirable for he refuses in vowing to never kill again. This movie have the right mix
of being faithful with the plot and changing a little of the original storyline to be
consistent with the first. Every characteris well played by the actors. The costmes and
the setting also added in setting the mood of the movie. For a whole major arc of the
manga or anime squeezed into a two hour movie, The Rurouni Kenshin: Kyooto
Inferno had made an impressive one.
The movie is around civil war era assassin Shishio Makoto with his Juppongatana, a
group of ten master swordsmen whose skills are legendary as their brutality, who
wants to overthrow the government. Much like Kenshin, Shishio is also an assassin
before the Meiji Era but is betrayed and escaped his master s plan of his death. Due
to this, he takes up his sword to take revenge to the government that he once served.

As a result, the movie is fast paced but the director makes up for some downtime so
the viewers can have the time to think and take a breath with the action packed
scenes. The director of Kyoto Inferno covers a massive chunk of the story easily of
the entire Shishio arc. For a non avid fan but have watched the anime, Samurai X,
this movie had made a decent job in its adaptation. Still there is a small weak point in
this movie. The ten master swordsmen, Juponggatana, were very much just in the
background. Also, Aoshi s back story was drastically changed that his struggle was

Nadine Gordimer on South Africa
In the twentieth century alone, the world has witnessed oppression in many places,
like the South African apartheid, which literally means apartness (Omond 11).
Nadine Gordimer, an esteemed author and South African native, has lived to see
the injustice and conflict her country has experienced during apartheid rule, which
lasted just under a half century. Most of her literary work throughout the decades
of apartheid oppression united under the banner of freedom for the victims of
apartheid. Her books speaking on the dangers and horrors of apartheid, as well as a
call for its dismantling earned her a Nobel Peace Prize for literature in 1991. One of
her short stories, Once upon a Time, published in 1989, creatively depicted many

The family is living in luxury, ignorant to the chaos erupting outside of their

was just outside their trimmed hedges and green lawns. They believe they are safe

people, the husband s reply is equally as toxic: there are police and soldiers and
tear gas and guns to keep them away (Gordimer 190 191). A sentence later shows
the true nature of the faulty comfort the husband gives, buses were being burned,
cars stoned, and schoolchildren shot by the police in those quarters out of sight and
hearing of the suburb (Gordimer 191). This only proves to be a foreshadowing of
what is to come, and the actions of the family have direct consequences, in which
their former happily ever after turns to chaos because of their submission to apartheid
ignorance. The third irony is presented with the family s hired hands: they had a
housemaid who was absolutely trustworthy and an itinerant gardener who was highly
recommended by the neighbors (Gordimer 190). During apartheid, white South
Africans generally accepted some of the native African peoples as their housemaids
and gardeners, only accepting them if they were responsible and submissive to

China: To Float or Not To Float?
International Finance
Executive Summary
On July 21, 2005, China revalued its decade long quasi fixed exchange rate of
approximately 8.28 yuan per U.S. dollar by 2.1% to 8.11. Simultaneously, the People
s Bank of China announced that the daily trading band of 0.3% against the dollar
would be maintained. Many analysts and economists believed that the real trade
weighted value of the renminbi was undervalued by up to 30% to 35%.
Companies that produce in China for the overseas market, retailers, and importers

Impact of growth in China as well as the rest of the world by the changes in
exchange rate policy As most observers took it for granted that the yuan was
undervalued, one specific study estimated yuan undervaluation against the U.S.
dollar of at least 35% based on the price level of goods and services in China
compared with those of its trade partners. As a result, there will probably be a
sharp appreciation of renminbi if Chinese government switches over from the fixed
exchange rate policy to flexible exchange rate policy. A common figure cited for a
20 to 25 percent move of renminbi would be devastating to China, which would
cause deflation, cut economic growth, cut off foreign direct investment and would
destabilize Asia. On the other hand, other low cost countries in Asia may benefit
from the shift of FDI and production of multinational companies. However, most
high wage countries like U.S. may still face a rising trade deficit because their
imports from other low wage countries would replace products made in China.
Sustainability of the current exchange rate policy
Many economists focusing on the strain the tightly managed exchange rate imposed
on China s economy agreed that China needed to institute more flexibility. They
noted that not only was the exchange rate expensive to sustain, but it contributed as
well as limited China s flexibility in responding to a
Life Of Pi Identity Essay
Many people find who they truly are as a person when they are by themselves in
their journey of self identity. In the book, Life of Pi, written by Yann Martel and
the play, Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, two characters, Pi and Biff,
go on a spiritual journey towards self identity. Life of Pi is a story about a young
man named Pi, who survives a shipwreck and months in a lifeboat with a large
Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Being stuck on a boat with a tiger created the
struggle and challenge of survival and how Pi must overcome these struggles and
challenges. Death of a Salesmanis a story about an aging, failing salesman, named
Willy Loman who makes his living riding on smile and a shoeshine and how his
american dream is ruled by societies view of how to be successful. The two works
show how both Pi and Biff (respectively) grow and realize who they are as the book
and play go on. Firstly, they both have expectations from their parents that they feel
pressured to live up to. Secondly, they also have a connection with nature through
which, they come to grow and realize their identity. Finally, Pi and Biff discover and

individuals and make their life simpler and their movement more beneficial, however
there has showed up an issue of the machine compulsion or reliance, particularly
among the youngsters. Computers are advantageous gadgets that a considerable lot
of us utilize every day. Computers plays vital role of our lives, permitting us to

on the front page of the Ronald McDonald House website. These were the images
and words that left me feeling emotionally pulled to do something to help out these
children in my local community when I went to the website to find out more about

Implementing Gun Safety in School Classrooms
Nine year old Aaron Schmitt had been rummaging around in his dad s closet and
found a shiny new toy. He was enthralled with his find. As he felt the cold metal in
his hand, he thought of the fun he could have playing a game of cops and robbers.
Aaron spun the gun around in his hand wanting to show it to his friends. He knew
he should ask for permission from his parents to take the gun but he figured his dad
would never realize the gun was missing. He thought long and hard about what he
was going to do and finally decided that he was going to take the gun to school and
show it off. His decision made, he put the gun in his backpack to take to school the
following morning. Significantly, gun play has increased over time, and students are
not realizing what harm they can cause. Students have brought guns into schools
before, both real and fake. Students who bring in fake guns usually are able to get
off on a referral. A referral is an act of referring someone or something for
consultation, review, or further action. When teaching gun safety to students most
instructor s goals are to teach children hierarchical skills. This means teaching them
skills in order of ranks. Students have been caught bringing guns into school since the
late 1800 s. In the last ten years more than 100 school shootings around the United
States have occurred. The most recent shooting
Relationships In D. H. Lawrence s Sons And Lovers
D.H. Lawrence s novel Sons and Lovers explores the significant family and
companionate relationships of early adulthood. Unfortunately, and possibly
unbeknownst to Lawrence himself, the relationships in the novel are often abusive,
triangulated, and otherwise inappropriate. Many of these distorted connections may
stem from the unconscious and cyclical perceptions of loveby the characters. In D.H.
Lawrence s novel, Sons and Lovers, each character s view of love is shaped by
observing his parents relationship, causing Mrs. Morel and her sons to perceive love
as dominationover another person.

When William first gets sick, the doctor describes the illness as pneumonia, and,
he said, a peculiar erysipelas, [a skin disease], which had started under the chin
where the collar chafed, and was spreading over the face . The fact that William s
illness targeted his lungs and the area around his throat alludes to death by
strangulation, as he is pulled between his domineering mother and a fiancГ© whom
he wants to be able to love. Mrs. Morel mourns for her son, unaware of her role in
his demise, and she continues to perpetuate her love as dominance cycle with Paul.
Mrs. Morel imposes upon Paul s relationship with Miriam. Gertrude constantly tells
Paul how common Miriam is, and waits up late for him, like his wife, when he
stays out late with Miriam, trying to make him feel guilty. Paul even realizes at the
end of the novel that his mother has been the root of his failed relationships, and he
asserts that I shall never meet the right woman while you live . Paul s only means of
freeing himself from his mother s dominance is to kill her, another dominating act
disguised as love, following Gertrude s path.
The two sons that Gertrude most loved and dominated also seem to feel that
domination is true love, thereby following in Gertrude s footsteps, both sons abusing
their lovers. William as a child emits some of the same sentiments as his mother when
she was young.

Their food seems to be the same, but it isn t. On one hand, McDonald s hamburger
weighs less and has only 9g of total fat, while Burger King s hamburger has 12g and
they have a saltier taste. On the other hand, Burger King s beef are 100% pure and
they flame boils their burgers, while McDonald s fries their beef. That s why they
taste different. Concern at cost, McDonald s simple burger is lower at $0.89 while
Burger King s has their simple burger at $0.99.
Their commitment to the community is also different. McDonald s has House
Charities since 1974, where they help thousands of parents stay by their sick
children s side. In addition, they give away millions of dollars in scholarship to
help people who can t afford college. On the other hand, Burger King s has some
scholar program, which help poor families. However, their strong commitment is to
provide good service and products to their clients and to make every Burger King
restaurant a place where people love to go everyday.
Even though McDonald s and Burger King are really similar, they are also really
different. They both try to have good advertising but McDonald s is, most of the
time, ahead. Their food seems to have the same condiments, but again, they are far
away to be the same. They appear as the two most famous fast food restaurants
around the world, but each one of them has their own

decades. The question is: will current ministry policies on planning cities suffice to

ministry needs to change policies and set new plans to address housing, transportation

My Personality Of A Olive Tree
You are what you eat so I guess that makes me an olive! You may not know it, but
16 olives count as one portion towards your five daily portions of fruit. I eat olives
every chance I get in there final juicy salty state. Sometimes I eat a whole jar at a
time. However, olives do not start out like their finished state. They have three main
stages of development and take a long time to mature. Like an olive, I change as I
mature and hope to become a succulent fruit in my early adulthood. I may not
originate from the Mediterranean, but I do come in many colors; my personality of
course. Olives come in a few variations of colors and tastes from greento black. The
colorof the olive varies on the maturity of that particular olive; the darker the olive,
the riper and more mature it was when it was picked from the olive tree.
Symbolically parallel to my personality while growing up.
An olive picked from a tree prematurely is green or light brown in color. The book
the Color of Psychology by Judy Scott Kemmis states that the color green
represents the perfect equipoise between the head and the heart. Green also
symbolizes maturation and growth. Both definitions of the color green ideally
embody how I grew into who I am today. As a young child, I was innocent and born
with a natural balance between head and heart. While other children ran off to do
dangerous activities like skateboarding, I would pause and think about my personal
safety before engaging in an

Desire is known as the human craving for sensual pleasure, fear of physical death,
and avoidance of unpleasant situations. Buddhist s ultimate goal is to remove the
suffering by letting go greed and desire. Many followers of Buddhism refrain from

others to eat. Each individual seeking interaction with the sacred is requested to

Essays On Career Goals. 010 Career Goal Statement Zdxttkpg Essay Example Goals Thatsnotus

  • 1. Essays On Career Goals Writing an essay on the topic of career goals can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies in the need to carefully articulate one's aspirations, motivations, and plans for the future in a coherent and compelling manner. Crafting an essay that effectively communicates your career goals requires a thoughtful reflection on your ambitions, the steps you've taken towards achieving them, and the relevance of your chosen path to your personal and professional development. The challenge also arises from the necessity to strike a balance between being realistic and ambitious in your goals. It's essential to convey a sense of purpose and passion without veering into the realm of unrealistic expectations. Additionally, structuring the essay in a way that engages the reader and leaves a lasting impression is crucial. This involves organizing your thoughts logically, presenting your achievements and experiences cohesively, and demonstrating a clear connection between your past, present, and future in the context of your career goals. Moreover, the difficulty is heightened by the need for originality and authenticity. Admissions committees and readers are often looking for unique perspectives and genuine narratives. It's not just about listing achievements but also about revealing the person behind the achievements – your values, motivations, and the lessons learned from both successes and setbacks. In conclusion, while writing an essay on career goals can be a challenging endeavor, it is also an opportunity for self-reflection and self-expression. It demands a careful balance of realism, ambition, structure, and authenticity. Ultimately, the essay serves as a crucial tool for conveying your aspirations and convincing others of the sincerity and feasibility of your career goals. A significant shift in morals occurred from the time of the ancient Greeks and Romans, who carried out good deeds with a surplus of energy simply because they could afford to do so, to the predominantly Judeo Christian era of self repression. This transition demonstrates a decline in our ability to make sense of our lives and understand our true humanpurpose. Nietzsche suggests that we have become out of touch with the truth we are no longer present in our lives. He urges us to recognize the social constraints to which we sometimes unknowingly submit... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clearly the Greeks fully embraced life, allowing themselves to feel and express a spectrum of human emotions. One of the reasons Nietzsche so highly values the Greeks is because while they understood that life is essentially, and inevitably painful, they still had the strength to affirm it and act decisively, even horribly (Gemes, ch.12). This is Nietzsche s ideal affirmation of life. The Judeo Christian mindset, on the other hand, differs in that it inspires self repression of natural human instincts, leading to suffering in the name of a divine force called God. They are miserable says Nietzsche, but they tell me their misery is a sign of being chosen by God (BWE, 135). Christianity and the church were major foundations of European society in the Middle Ages when life was particularly difficult due to the plague, low standards of hygiene, and poor quality of education. Given such horrible conditions, the possibility of an afterlife seemed quite attractive. Christians were therefore consoled for all their earthly suffering by the fantasy of an afterlife, so called The Kingdom of God (BWE, 137). They found a way to rationalize and justify suffering, therefore experiencing it with acceptance and joy. The idea was that if a person lived a pious earthly life, they would be rewarded with a more

His father Harry could be described as hard working, tough, and hard nosed, especially when it came to sports. Harry played semi pro football and always pushed Pete to give 110% at all times. This attitude and effort that Pete was exposed to growing up with a man like Harry stuck with Pete his entire life and as a result he earned the nickname Charlie Hustle , although it was not originally meant to be a compliment. In spring training of Pete s rookie year, he got walked by Yankee legend Whitey Ford. Instead of jogging to first base like everybody else in baseball, Rose sprinted to first ... In 1986, Rose was player manager of the Reds and the last player manager in professional baseball, a feat that is unlikely to occur again. Pete Rose will always be most remembered for betting on baseball while playing/managing the Reds. Rose denied these allegations for 14 years, even in the face of substantial evidence including an independent investigative report by Jon Dowd (better known as the Dowd Report). The defense mechanism most often used by Rose during this time period was flat out denial. While denying the accusations, Rose likely received negative reinforcement due to the escape of the emotions involved in admitting such a terrible act in the eyes of baseball. A potentially big initial factor behind this is that shortly after the Dowd Report; Rose voluntarily placed himself on baseball s ineligible list in August 1989 with the agreement from then commissioner Bart Giamatti that after a one year banishment from baseball, Rose could apply for reinstatement. Tragedy struck when Giamatti unexpectedly died from a heart attack before Rose s year long banishment had concluded. Fay Vincent took over as commissioner after Giamatti s death and was unwilling to reinstate Rose, as many would have seen the move as disrespectful to
  • 9. Standard Based Learning And Its Impact On Education Standard based learning has led to the demise of public education for years. Standard based learning is an educational system that measures students achievement and mastery of skills by their performance on assessments. Institutions that implement standard based learning use learning standards that explicitly describe what students should theoretically know and what lessons that educators should teach. The learning standards were created to define the adeptness of the students, ensure the retention of information, and the acquisition of the appropriate skills. Law makers tend to believe that standards will make the educational system a better place. With each political campaign a new educational reform is presented and it usually... This can be said for all of the political reforms the agenda is to improve the test scores not the education of our children Educators are not only limited financially but they are deprived to the freedom to actually educate their students. Standards are subjective requirements that tend to hinder the true abilities of students and educators; no student is the same therefore it seems almost impossible to require every student to be able to comprehend on the same levels. In order to measure student competency evaluations are given. These evaluations formally known as standardized tests are not only used to measure students wit they are also used to give an indication of the educators performace.Standardized tests are the main focus for many educators in state funded public schools. We are all different people with different mindsets and life experiences. But, we do not need traditional schooling to further our experiences in education. We all can learn various things that schooling will not be able to teach. Formal educationcan enforce freedom, but to a certain extent. Social class and race can shape the education system on very high grounds. In many ways, social class and race affect the education system. Higher education is beneficial because no matter what you choose to do it will always be there to back you up in the future. Having a college degree can help you with financial stability as well. But, in today s world, does having a college degree mean you can get any job at any given place or time? Not always will you find jobs that need certain degrees to be placed in jobs. Many places prefer no degree than having one. Some jobs require something even higher. There are a few limitations on having higher education. Also, by having higher education, it does not necessarily mean a person knows everything. You may have little to no education and still learn and know more things than someone with higher education can. For example, in Blue Collar Brilliance, Mike Rose; Rose s mother had dropped out of school to help support her family in a diner. She did not need school or a degree to develop psychological skills. She knew how things worked in a person by socially connecting to them. Her tip depended on how well she responded to these needs, and so she became adept at reading social cues and managing feelings, both the customers and her own. (Rose). That goes to show that higher education is not always needed in workplaces that use more connection to humans
  • 12. Differences Between Domesticated And Wild Animals There are notable differences between domesticated and wild animals. They are more obvious when compared between different breeds of the same species. For most domesticated species, the variations within an organism are usually descended from a single wild species. Variation arises from natural selection, and refers to variation both within and between species. Darwin did not believe that all domesticated species arises from a common wild ancestor, however, modern genetics disproves this. Research shows that all domesticated dogs arise from their wild ancestor, the wolves. Similar trends are found in other domesticated animals like cats, horses, cows, and birds. Specifically, I will be analyzing the trends in domestication of fowl and poultry. Fowl includes two orders of birds: landfowl (chicken, quail, pheasant) and waterfowl (duck, goose, swan). Fowl typically refers to wild birds. Poultry indicates birds that are domesticated and raised for meat or eggs. By analyzing the behavior, evolution species variation, and domestication of birds, we can determine the traits selected for different species. Through domestication, many breeds of birds have evolved with alterations that could be seen as adaptations to the environment. Behavior of Wild Fowl It is widely known that the domestication of an organism involves numerous changes: genetically, physically, socially, mentally. An interesting occurrence to note is reduction in brain size from wild to domestic animals. As

Women And The Construction Industry With the construction industry projected to grow over the next several years and project management positions in high demand, the makeup of the construction industry is often overlooked. When one looks at a jobsite, or even thinks of the construction industry, the most common image that comes to mind is men working away in hardhats and neon vests, with women completely irrelevant to this picture. Women are the largest untapped resource of the construction industry, as it is believed that men makeup around 99% of the industry (Williams, 2015). For women entering into the world of construction, it is hard to penetrate the male stigma that clouds this field, which is why many women often do not pursue careers in construction. The stereotype of male construction workers must be challenged in order to help women thrive in construction industry. Women are underrepresented in the construction industry due to a number of reasons such as, sexism, harassment, intimidation, and a downfall of opportunities. Patricia Valeroy, a young college student at Columbia University, began her first summer internship at large construction company. Although studying civil engineering, her internship was a construction management position on a luxury high rise in New York. Eager to get started at what she thought would be the most ideal internship, her hopes were quickly crestfallen, as the senior construction manager told her he was unwilling to work with women. • 14. The Importance Of Self Administered Poisoning And Lethal... Historically, capital punishment through execution has been administered in various forms, prompted by the desire to conform to the ever changing standards of decency. In Ancient Greece, as Plato exhibits the experience that Socrates went through. The condemned prisoners were given a poison (hemlock) to self administer themselves on the day of execution. Such is different from the current system where the condemned prisoners are executed by lethal injection. This paper seeks to establish whether self administered poisoning would be better that the current lethal injection approach. While the approaches differ in some aspects, there are no sufficient grounds for categorizing self administered poisoning as better than lethal injection, as execution is bound to be cruel as it is done against the wish of individuals. Self Administered Poisoning Versus Lethal Injection The depiction of Socrates execution through self administered poison amid having a discourse with those around him is portrayed by Corner as a humanized execution, making it appear different from torture (113). However, such does not qualify to consider the execution as showing respect to the prisoner as a person. As Stack advanced, such is because of the obvious reality that execution by itself is primarily a mean of exhibiting the lack of respect for the prisoner (38). In reality, a death row prisoner can be approached as a patient except that his condition is primarily man made. The goal in execution is to

This quote is immensely true you should always be true to yourself and you shouldn t envy people you don t really know that much about. You should stay true to yourself because if you want to imitate someone who are killing yourself figuratively. How is your inner self alive if you don t display it no one knows who you really are so your soul is dead to others. They would just see that you are like everyone else or like someone else in particular and then you will be compared to the other person which isn t what people usually want. If someone were to compare you to someone and you are just off there in the corner hearing this and they are saying blah blah he s/she s exactly like so and so and you are just like no I m me , but you have no proof because what they are saying is true. Your inner self would never be known to people if you like to hide away and just do what it is popular they we ll see you as just no one special and everyone wants to have something different about them that s what makes people awesome there is not two of the same exact people, so why would you want to strive to be exactly like another person.... Introduction Presidential appointments can encourage loyalty to an incoming administration, however actions that exemplify loyalty can come at the expenses of organizational effectiveness and efficient. O Leary showed how appointment strategies and hiring freezes influenced the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Donald Trumpand his new appointee Betsy DeVos who most politician agree that she has consistently demonstrate that she was against access to public education. Her beliefs and goals seem to be completely different from department in which she was appointed, this can have a negative effect on the effectiveness and efficiency within the education department. This strategy of appointing public servants or a hiring freeze can have a negative effect, because the government tends to ignore the organizations mission and goals, as well as disrupting the agency operations and even increasing the expenses to the government. Also, the hiring freeze will soon decimate recruiting. If an organization reclassifies the action as a Headcount Freeze and clearly articulates the rules around the action, the outcome can be quite different. A headcount freeze means that the organization must maintain the current number of full time equivalent (FTE) workers (Hiring Freeze: Two words that can cause irreparable damage, 2016). There are three main argument styles, which are called the Aristotelian approach, the Rogerian approach, and the Toulmin approach. Each of these styles incorporates evidence in different ways and have the claim stated in different sections of the argument. There are different types of reasoning that can be used to strengthen a writer s argument, which include inductive and deductive reasoning. However, writers can accidently use fallacious reasoning, which can make their arguments invalid and unreliable. Fallacious reasoning can also discredit the author s argument. Anne Fadiman and Rebecca Skloot have different and similar writing techniques. Anne Fadiman uses a Rogerian approach in her writing whereas Rebecca Skloot uses the Aristotelian approach. Even though they both have fallacies within their arguments, Rebecca Skloot is more effective and successful in her arguments than Anne Fadiman because she uses an Aristotelian approach and uses different types of inductive/ deductive reasoning to strengthen her claim. Anne Fadiman, uses a Rogerian approach as her argumentation style in her book called The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down. A Rogerian argumentation style is a conflict solving technique that works towards finding a common ground. For example, in the beginning of her book, Fadiman states: Dan had no way of knowing that Foua and Nao Kao had already

Nuclear Weapons Of The United States Nuclear weapons have provided states that possess them with the firepower to deter attacks since the United States developed the first bombs in the 1940 s. Those states with the abilities to develop such weapons have solidified themselves atop the global hierarchy. Since few states have such weapons, it is naturally attention grabbing when a nation is revealed to be in the process of developing them. Iranbegan a nuclear program in the 1950 s with the help of the United States, who suspended help after the Iranian Revolution in 1979 (Breachy and Sinha 1 3). After the monarchy was overthrown and replaced with a clerical Islamic government, many nations, especially the United States, began to fear that the Iranians were using their nuclear program to create weapons of mass destruction (Brachy and Sinha 10 13). Over the years, sanctions from the United States, the European Union, and other central powers, have crippled Iran s economy. After the election of President Ahmadinejad in 2005, who supported the Iranian Nuclear program and offended Israel by calling the Holocaust a myth, many great powers have began to work with Iran in an attempt to retard its nuclear capabilities in return for a reduction of international sanctions. Many actors in these negotiations want different things. Iran would like to have the sanctions against it lifted while maintaining the ability to develop nuclear weapons. This would allow Iran to boost its position at the expense of others in the Middle

His existence as such renders the ending while not happy, sentimental, or romantic just and authentic, a phenomenon that might prove even more literarily gratifying than that of a neatly tied up tale of devotion. Shortly after this exchange Eugene kills Vladimir, Eugene leaves the country, and Tattiana and Eugene do not see each for a long time. Years later, Eugene sees Tattiana across a ballroom in St. Petersburg. She is young, vibrant, beautiful, married to an older prince, and virtually the belle of society. They had invested quite a bit of time and money into a marketing strategy. When I looked over their strategy, it was all about the benefit of their products and had nothing to do with the startups they were trying to do business with. Understandably, they were frustrated that their efforts were not getting any traction with their target audience, and they were worried that all of their wasted time and money would be their undoing. Fortunately, we were able to make adjustments to their strategy before they went under. All they needed to do was shift their message from being all about their products to being all about their potential buyers. We took the time to develop a buyer persona and created marketing that spoke to that person. Since their top down approach to selling their service required them to go straight to CEOs and other executives, we researched who was at the top of the startups they could sell to. In our research, we found a number of commonalities that all of these people shared, and we used that information to create specific messages that would catch the buyers attentions and provide a solution to their problems. This buyer centric approach not only improved their conversion rates and increased their revenue, but it essentially saved the company from being yet another failed startup. You should make relevant references to your wider reading in the poetry of love. The poem the The Anniversary By John Donne, is a metaphysical poem about the sun itself growing older each year, this process reminds Donne that him and his lover are closer to their end. The second poem is called One Flesh , and is written by Elizabeth Jennings. In the course of this poem Jennings explores the relationship and separateness of her now elderly parents. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, some may interpret their love as lasting forever because they are everything , possibly even death itself. On the other hand, in the Jennings poem One Flesh the loss of love can occur without the physical death of two beings. As both these elderly couples continue to live but have already dead love. The quote; lying apart now is particularly ambiguous, it may show how the lovers lay apart from one another in life or either how they are already dead and lay apart in separate coffins. Either way it can be seen to show a lack of love, by the notion of them both being apart . The cycle of fire is metaphorical to the death of love, as Jennings notes fire she came from has now grown cold . This may imply how no fire, which represents passion cannot last, and will soon have a death and turn cold . Nonetheless, there is a slight connection to Donne s poem and the idea of love being continued in the afterlife. Jennings sees the partners distance as being strangely apart yet straggly close together . The repetition of strangely highlights how this is an abnormal circumstance, as Jennings could be communicating how that despite their difference the bond of love is strong and will hold them together, maybe even in death. Moreover, a desire to escape love and be free from it can be communicated by how the woman partner is dreaming of childhood . Childhood can signify a young girl s dream of growing up and having a fairy tale romance,

An example of these reoccurrences is the scapegoat or enemy character that seems to be omnipresent. This being is always the first to be blamed for practically everything, and/or is threatening to the main characters. This sort of role is necessary for the animalsand the storyline because the character motivates them and unites them against a common enemy. (Orwell 39) These pieces of text show two different occasions in which the enemy characters at the time are coming to attack the farm. Jones and Frederick are somewhat different people with different relationships to the animals. Jones was the drunk of a farmer that previously owned Animal Farm and failed to take proper care of the animals and treat them justly. Frederick was the tough, deceitful overseer of the neighboring farm Pinchfield who often abused his animals. Since she made the decision to stay with her husband, despite the hardships that he placed his family and himself in, he left her. So, she cannot take care of her nor her children because she is not familiar with being an independent woman living in a male dominant world. This cause could have been avoided if she were to leave him when she realized that he was becoming broke and irresponsible; however, she was dependent on him because he made the money and she worked in the private sphere. Overall, this connects to Hobbes philosophy of the chain of events, because her husband s negligence and him leaving leads to the next event that brings us closer to the loss of her children the will, and, because of her husband leaving her, she had to reach out for

I will also be giving an example of patient empowerment that may pose an ethical dilemma, along with discussing how I would respond to a patient whom I thought was making an unwise decision. The purpose of this discussion is to discuss the outcomes of patient empowerment. As nurses, we are not always going to agree with the patient s decision. Once we see frequent flyers, it is hard to respect their decision to continue to come and detox when it feels like they are wasting our time and theirs. I have already disagreed with a patient s decision, with something as small as a patient refusing to allow me to perform neuro checks on them or refusing to take their potassium. I feel the only thing I can do is to make sure the patient is full educated. They have the right to refuse and make their own decisions. • 30. Consequences Of Deception In Romeo And Juliet Never attempt to win by force what can be won by deception. ― NiccolГІ Machiavelli. The term deception takes a part in betraying another for one s self interest. It was a key element within Shakespeare s work. Romeo and Juliet is one of the prime examples of this topic. They showed deception very clearly by hiding their actions and betraying their families, leading to their tragic ending. However, it was not the only piece Shakespeare wrote that showed the multiple consequences caused by an act of betrayal. The power of deception and the consequences that follow is a staple in literature, and no one shows this idea more clearly than Shakespeare. Oh! What A Tangled Web We Weave When First We Practice To Deceive Sir Walter Scott. Shakespeare is one of the most celebrated authors in history, weaving deception throughout his writings. As he wrote about love, deception was seen over and over within his pieces. An example of Shakespeare s work is from Sonnet 138, O, love s best habit is in seeming trust. This sonnet was based around a man and his mistress. The man knows that she lies about being faithful, but he also is aware that they do it in order to protect each other and their relationship. Later in Sonnet 157, the audience sees the outcome of the deception in Sonnet 138, as they are told that the man and his mistress are no longer. In the story of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo quotes, O, how may I call this lightning? O my love! My wife! Death, that hath suck d the honey

Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems Theory Discuss Bronfenbrenner s ecological systems theory and how it applies to the plight of children in the European migrant crisis In order to understand how Bronfenbrenner s ecological systems theory of human development applies to children of the European migrant crisis, it may be useful to start by explaining what the ecological systems theoryis. This theory was published in 1979 and was developed by developmental psychologist, Urie Bronfenbrenner. It is an evolving theoretical system developed for the use of scientific study on the area of Human Development (Bronfenbrenner, 2005 as cited in Damon Lerner, 2006, p. 793). Human Development describes the growth in humans throughout their lifespan (http:/ /psychology.about.com/od/developmentecourse/f/dev_faq.htm). The bioecological model of human development is defined as the following; The phenomenon of continuity and change in the biopsychological characteristics of human beings, both as individuals and as groups. The phenomenon extends over the life course, across successive generations, and through historical time, both past and future. (Damon, M. Lerner M. R, 2006, p.793) How does this bio ecological systems theory apply to the children in this modern day European migrant crisis? As stated above, this theory has been developed to scientifically study the area of human development, an area which is central to children in particular. Bronfenbrenner argues that the environment around the individual is what

The Dreyfus Affair was a political scandal, which divided France from the 1890 s to the early 1900 s. It was a very important event in history. 1894 marked the start of a revolution for Jewish people, as a French Jewish artillery officer, Captain Alfred Dreyfus was accused of treason (Isseroff). The accusations against Dreyfus were false all because he was a Jew. This list was picked out of the garbage pail of Maximilian Von Schwartzkoppen, a German military attach in Paris (Johnson). Many years passed before the truth was uncovered, Dreyfus was innocent and although false information was used he was an easy target because the writing in the bordereau matched his handwriting and the information came from an artillery officer (Johnson). Purpose The purpose of the experiment is to see how the freezing process of ice cream is affected when different amounts of Sodium Chloride are added on the ice that is used to freeze it. Background Information The three most common states of matter are solid, liquid and gas. When a person has made ice cream, the ingredients go from a liquid to a solid state which is called freezing. In the liquid state, the substance s molecules are the most loosely packed of the three states of matter and have no definite volume. Because of this, they will usually take the shape of whatever container they are put into. The solid state however is the complete opposite. In this state, the molecules are tightly packed and are unable to move around freely. (Classifications of Matter) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Freezing point deprivation is when the freezing point of a solvent is lowered when a solute is added to it. In this case salt is being added to ice. A common example of freezing point deprivation in real life would be when salt is added to the roads right before it snows. Assuming the temperature is around 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the salt lowers the freezing point of the snow by a few degrees and as a result, the snow melts when it hits the

He is a man riddled with madness inside and out, yet through his state of frenzy and turmoil, Lear unveils unexpected guidance, validity, and enlightenment. Therefore, by defining, characterizing, and examining the condition of madness, it is equally important to point out similar behavior displayed by King Lear. Lear s deeds provide key insight into the condition plaguing his mind. For example, Shakespeare begins by introducing the reader to Lear s madness in the opening scene of the play: Tell me, my daughters...Which of you shall we say doth love us most? That we our largest bounty may extend Where nature doth with merit challenge (Shakespeare 1.1.47, 50 52). However, in the exact moment that Lear allocates his well being to his daughters, the entire dynamics of their relationship has thus transcended from parent to child. His status has become situated to a lower hierarchy, and can be seen as a foreboding on his mind as well as his country. Rebecca Munson symbolically makes this connection when she states, any inversion of sovereignty, either in the body natural or the body politic, not only morrows but causes such an

They argue that their resistance to change created an opportunity for the Conservative party to become the new natural governing party in Canada(Bricker Ibbitson, 2013). By recognizing and acting on these changes, the Conservative party built a platform for success which lead to the outcome of the 2011 federal election. They argue that the seismic shift in the demographics of Canadian voters from one side of the political spectrum to the other granted Conservatives this victory. This paper will explore the flaws within their argument, and the extent to which this shift is perpetual in nature. Impact of growth in China as well as the rest of the world by the changes in exchange rate policy As most observers took it for granted that the yuan was undervalued, one specific study estimated yuan undervaluation against the U.S. dollar of at least 35% based on the price level of goods and services in China compared with those of its trade partners. As a result, there will probably be a sharp appreciation of renminbi if Chinese government switches over from the fixed exchange rate policy to flexible exchange rate policy. A common figure cited for a 20 to 25 percent move of renminbi would be devastating to China, which would cause deflation, cut economic growth, cut off foreign direct investment and would destabilize Asia. On the other hand, other low cost countries in Asia may benefit from the shift of FDI and production of multinational companies. However, most high wage countries like U.S. may still face a rising trade deficit because their imports from other low wage countries would replace products made in China. Sustainability of the current exchange rate policy Many economists focusing on the strain the tightly managed exchange rate imposed on China s economy agreed that China needed to institute more flexibility. They noted that not only was the exchange rate expensive to sustain, but it contributed as well as limited China s flexibility in responding to a

Implementing Gun Safety On School Classrooms Samantha Russo Professor Sandoz Research Methods Block 3 29 September 2014 Implementing Gun Safety in School Classrooms Nine year old Aaron Schmitt had been rummaging around in his dad s closet and found a shiny new toy. He was enthralled with his find. As he felt the cold metal in his hand, he thought of the fun he could have playing a game of cops and robbers. Aaron spun the gun around in his hand wanting to show it to his friends. He knew he should ask for permission from his parents to take the gun but he figured his dad would never realize the gun was missing. He thought long and hard about what he was going to do and finally decided that he was going to take the gun to school and show it off. His decision made, he put the gun in his backpack to take to school the following morning. Significantly, gun play has increased over time, and students are not realizing what harm they can cause. Students have brought guns into schools before, both real and fake. Students who bring in fake guns usually are able to get off on a referral. A referral is an act of referring someone or something for consultation, review, or further action. When teaching gun safety to students most instructor s goals are to teach children hierarchical skills. This means teaching them skills in order of ranks. Students have been caught bringing guns into school since the late 1800 s. In the last ten years more than 100 school shootings around the United States have occurred. The most recent shooting

Unfortunately, and possibly unbeknownst to Lawrence himself, the relationships in the novel are often abusive, triangulated, and otherwise inappropriate. Many of these distorted connections may stem from the unconscious and cyclical perceptions of loveby the characters. In D.H. Lawrence s novel, Sons and Lovers, each character s view of love is shaped by observing his parents relationship, causing Mrs. Morel and her sons to perceive love as dominationover another person. Gertrude s ill treatment of her husband and intense passion for her children originate from observing her own parent s relationship. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When William first gets sick, the doctor describes the illness as pneumonia, and, he said, a peculiar erysipelas, [a skin disease], which had started under the chin where the collar chafed, and was spreading over the face . The fact that William s illness targeted his lungs and the area around his throat alludes to death by strangulation, as he is pulled between his domineering mother and a fiancГ© whom he wants to be able to love. Mrs. Morel mourns for her son, unaware of her role in his demise, and she continues to perpetuate her love as dominance cycle with Paul. Mrs. Morel imposes upon Paul s relationship with Miriam. Gertrude constantly tells Paul how common Miriam is, and waits up late for him, like his wife, when he stays out late with Miriam, trying to make him feel guilty. Paul even realizes at the end of the novel that his mother has been the root of his failed relationships, and he asserts that I shall never meet the right woman while you live . Paul s only means of freeing himself from his mother s dominance is to kill her, another dominating act disguised as love, following Gertrude s path. The two sons that Gertrude most loved and dominated also seem to feel that domination is true love, thereby following in Gertrude s footsteps, both sons abusing their lovers. William as a child emits some of the same sentiments as his mother when she was young.

I eat olives every chance I get in there final juicy salty state. Sometimes I eat a whole jar at a time. However, olives do not start out like their finished state. They have three main stages of development and take a long time to mature. Like an olive, I change as I mature and hope to become a succulent fruit in my early adulthood. I may not originate from the Mediterranean, but I do come in many colors; my personality of course. Olives come in a few variations of colors and tastes from greento black. The colorof the olive varies on the maturity of that particular olive; the darker the olive, the riper and more mature it was when it was picked from the olive tree.
