The Historical Reasons Between Natural Science And
Religion
For hundreds even thousands of years since human formed their society and
different ideologies, two invisible walls separate people from each other. The wall
is more historic to be discussed is the one between natural science and religion,
which people disagree with each other on the genesis of the world. According to most
of history events, scienceand religioncannot get along with each other, the reasons
relate to the historical reasons, the different method to measure the world, and the
word faith.
In the centuries of despotism by religion, people struggled, crept out of the chaos of
mind, and then cleaned up their thought, finally entered the new era of natural
science. However, loyal old religious constitutions never let the belief in their
dominion have divarication. As the result, the war of ideologies ... Show more content

One of the grand fundamental principles of Mormonism is to receive truth, let it
come from whence it may. (Smith, J., p.199) According to Joseph Smith s (1965)
discourse, the original purpose of Mormonism is to receive the truth bases on the
foundation of the Bible, where the purpose is the same as science, people research
and study in science literally finding out the truth of the world. Indeed, science and
pure religion have a same target: to reach the truth. The Bible in the old age was
reasonable for people to learn about the universe and anthropology. On the other
hand, science, people apply it as a universal standard to discover the world and the
universe, also called the Weltanschauung. Certainly, science represents the same
spirit as religion. As the result, science and religion both bring principles to this
world: science offers reasonable explanation of the universe with evidences; religion
provides one explanation of the world to its adherent, and any unexplainable
phenomenon and events would be explained as the god s
Essay about Cancer and Terry Tempest Williams Refuge
Cancer and Terry Tempest Williams Refuge
I cannot prove my mother, my grandmothers, along with my aunts developed cancer
from nuclear fallout in Utah. But I can t prove they didn t. Epilogue, Refuge
In Terry Tempest Williams s Refuge, death slowly claimed almost all of the women
of her family. Death took Williams family members one by one just one or two
years apart. In every case, the cause was cancer. Williams insisted in the epilogue that
fall out from the 1951 62 nuclear testing in Utah brought cancer to her family.
Because there are many other causes of cancer, such as genetic and environmental
factors, it is hard for one to insist that nuclear fall out causes cancer. Therefore, it is
important to find out how and why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Iodine 131 causes thyroid cancer. It is a substance that dissolves into
liquid such as water and milk. Other chemicals such as Strontium 90 and Cesium
147 as well get into water, milk, soil, food and vegetables that we eat and cause
bone, skin cancer and leukemia. Chemicals like Strontium 90 and Cesium 147
remain for up to 200 to 300 years in the atmosphere (CancerSource.)
The United States tested nuclear bombs, 215 A and H bombs
(www.nukewatch.com) above ground between 1951 and 1963 in the Nevada Test
Site. Fifty years later, the U.S government studies stated that over 80,000 people
who lived or were born in the U.S suffered from cancer caused by radioactive fall
out from nuclear testing. Over 15,000 of them died. Many of whom were from the
states close to the testing sites, called the downwinders, Utah, Idaho and other
states. From the Nevada Test Site the winds carried nuclear radiation fallout, filled
with iodine 131 which caused 75,000 thyroid cancers, ten percent of which are
estimated to have been fatal, and strontium 90 and cesium 137, which are dangerous
for between 280 and 300 years, (nukewatch) likely causes of bone and skin cancer
and leukemia. Therefore, there is some strong evidence that nuclear fall out in the
1950s did cause cancer.
Downwinders and people from the states close to the test site were severely exposed
to the fallout and have suffered from all kind of cancers. The Center for Disease
Tony Hillerman s The Ghostaway Essay
Tony Hillerman s The Ghostaway
In a country that is the melting pot for many cultures, it is hard to interact with all of
them. Tony Hillerman educates readers about one culture, the Navajos, through his
novel, The Ghostway. After a shooting occurs in the quiet Indian reservation, a Navajo
police Jim Chee, officer overcomes many obstacles physically, mentally, and
spiritually to sort the case out and protect a young girl. He is constantly struggling
with his identity, whether or not he should continue living his life as a Navajo or
cross over to mainstream white life. Although the book s main plot is about a murder
and police investigations, a theme that the book is always making references about is
cultural differences and how these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Chee is eating at a diner in the city of L.A. he finds it intriguing that it is
difficult to figure out the ethnic identity of the waitress, On the big reservation, where
people were scarce and scattered, one tended to lump them into categories. (146)
Chee compares how the people from where he is from are not stuck into categories
but are all the same. He was not use to seeing so many different races and it was
hard for him to distinguish what race is what. Chee also found it to be complicated
when it came to see life through other ways rather than the Navajo way because it
was so different form what he was used to and he can not make the change.
A way that the author also showed cultural differences is through the character
Vaggan, a white hit man that wanted the death of those around him. There are
times in the book where the author would tell the story from the point of view of
Chee to the point of view of Vaggan. During the first meeting between Chee and
Vaggan the author does this where Chee is called an indian instead of by his name,
The Indian said something in Navajo and laughed. (205) By calling him an Indian,
the author shows how Vaggan s ignorance made him assume that Chee was nothing
but a drunk Indian. Since Chee and Vaggan are adversaries to each other it is
reasonable to compare them and see how they match up to each other. Vagaan is a
violent white man with disregard to human life
Comparing Handel And Bach
Bach versus Handel Two of the greatest Baroque Era composers that still influence
music to this day with their compositions are Johan Sebastian Bach and George
Fredrick Handel. The influence of Bach and Handel s music is found in mainstream
media throughout the world. Their compositions are still played in modern times by
tribute bands, television commercials, operas, concerts and even sound therapies by
relaxation therapists. It is evident that their music has touched the lives of many
people throughout the centuries. Bach and Handel both have unique styles of
music. Even though they are similar in some ways, they are rather different in
other ways. Handel and Bach composed music for similar types of instruments and
composed musical pieces and vocal works. They both wrote compositions for some
of the same type of works such as Fugues, Preludes, and Suites. Although, Handel
wrote some operas, Bach wrote a large variety of church music. Majority of Bach s
compositions were Cantatas and Passions. What made Handel s music rather
different then Bach was the fact that he used simple harmonic progression. Bach s
music was written with sudden surprising harmonic shifts and he also focused on
adding extra ordinary chords throughout his works. Handel preferred using simple
textures, by creating music with three different melodies that were to be played at
once, while several other instruments were being played at the same time. Bach on
the other hand creatively composed his music

Programming Language Essay
Conduct an internet search on programming languages. Identify a language that is
compiled and compare the features of this language with Python, which is an
interpreted language. Discuss the advantage and disadvantages of each and provide
one example each of where interpreted and compiled languages would be most
appropriate
A compiler is a program that translates a high level language program into a separate
machine language program.
Compiled languages are always supposed to be fast because of their direct execution
by the computer

In C++ programming break and BREAK both are different.
If any language treats lower case latter separately and upper case latter separately
than they can be called as case sensitive programming language [Example c, c++,
java, .net are sensitive programming languages.] other wise it is called as case
insensitive programming language [Example HTML, SQL is case insensitive
programming languages].
Compiler based
C++ is a compiler based programming language that means without compilation no
C++ program can be executed. First we need compiler to compile our program and
then execute.
Syntax based language
C++ is a strongly tight syntax based programming language. If any language follow
rules and regulation very strictly known as strongly tight syntax based language.
Example C, C++, Java, .net etc. If any language not follow rules and regulation very
strictly known as loosely tight syntax based language.
Example HTML.
Efficient use of pointers
Pointers is a variable which hold the address of another variable, pointer directly
direct access to memory address of any variable due to this performance of

Soccer Field Goal Kick
When it comes to kicking a soccer ball it depends on the force and distance of the
kick. A field goal kick will be different from a pass in a combination play. Mental
preparation has to be used to be ready for the kick. When kicking a field goal, laces
kick will be used (toe down, power in knee flexion). There are different stages for
analysis movement of a soccer field goal kick. A player does not stand still when
kicking a field goal. The player determines the angle and direction of the kick. The
diagonal approach is known to produce a greater ball speed and swing limb velocity.
Study has shown that a 45 degree angle approach produces the greatest peak ball
velocity, compared to a 15 degree or 30 degree run up (Isokawa and Lees). The chart

All of the player s attention is on the ball. The body is being balanced by the
opposite arm to the kicking leg. The kicking leg is extended and the knee is
flexing as the planted foot hits the ground. During this phase of the kick the knee
extensors are contracting eccentrically. The hip flexors starts the next part of the
kick when the thigh is swung forward and downward with a forward rotation of the
lower leg and foot. The knee extensors contract to swing the leg and foot forward to
kick the ball. When the knee of the kicking leg passes over the ball, it is extended
and the foot is plantar flexed. The top of the foot will become exposed to the ball. At
the end of the swing the hamstrings slow the leg eccentrically. Torque and moment
arm play is needed in this movement. The longer the limb and shorter moment are, the

The Help Food Quotes
The Role and Significance of Food in The Help
In the novel The Help by Kathryn Stockett, the role and significance of food is
greatly expressed. Not only is the role of food used to show racism but to express
how women, particularly African Americans, were the better of the cooks in the
1960 s. The significance of food in the culture of the South changed since the 1960 s
to now because every meal used to be home cooked and not store bought or fast
food like today. African American maids food used to be called Soul Food to
relate to how well the maids cooked with what was available to them. Maids used
to share recipes verbally, they cooked for one another, and would have home
cooked meals everyday. Today people hardly ever have home cooked meals and
some people do not know how to cook, like Mrs. Celia in the novel. The role and
significance of food throughout the novel shows separation and the differences we
have today amongst African Americans and food.
In Kathryn Stockett s novel The Help, the role of food shows racism is present and
showed that African American maids were the better of cooks in the 1960 s
because they were able to cook with any ingredient available to them. Soul Food is
a term used for an ethnic cuisine, food traditionally prepared and eaten by African
Americans of the Southern United States ( Soul Food ). This term is coming from
slavery when they had to be able to make food with very little. Like in the novel,
Minny is a great cook compared to her boss, Celia, who she was attempting to help
teach to cook. Ingredients at Celia s house are more easily available for Minny so it
allows her to be able to cook easily. At Minny s house, she does not have much
money so cooking is tougher to do but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Advantages Of Parallax

distance of how close stars are, the term parallax is the meaning of a semi angle of
an inclination that is between two sight lines to the star and this can be observed

used by its triangulation that will be able to measure the position of the star that is
against the background of more distant stars, the amount that it will shift is 6 months
this is because of the earth orbit and this is the angle of one triangle. The diameter of

This will result in sharpen images. Another advantage is that you don t have deal
with light that is scattered all over by the atmosphere. You don t also have to deal
with light pollution. The major scientific advantage of space telescopes that being
above the atmosphere means you can observe much more with different wave
lengths. Observing from the ground will be harder. We can observe frequencies
within the radio and the optic al range. The major disadvantage is the size. The
larger the mirror on the space telescope then the more light will be gathered up and
more detail we can resolve. But also we are limited on the size that we can

Ebony Gene Effect Lab Report
In this experiment we were able to map the ebony gene in Drosophila m, which is a
gene that can affect the phenotypical body colour of a fly but is also required to
supress some melanin formation (6). However the ebony gene is found in both cells
that produce melanised and non melanised cuticle. This is because in the presence of
increased Yellow geneexpression (6) the ebony gene effect is repressed.
Genetic mapping is not only a tool that allows you to look at singular genes as
above but also allows you to map a whole genome sequence. It is a specialised
technique which is constantly being developed, resulting in some of the biggest

Throughout The Good Earth, by Pearl Buck, the land brings forth nourishing food
and wealth as well as comfort to those who work it. Those who are not close with
the land suffer immensely and are corrupted by their distance from the land. Distance
from their land is usually because of money, which is overriding corrupting force.
The corruption of money causes people to leave their land. This in turn causes further
corruption because the nourishing land is not able to save the people from their
obsession with money.

The Political Economy of South Korea
The Political Economy of South Korea:
A Necessary Transformation
I. Introduction:
In this paper, I will discuss the measures that the Republic of Korea s (addressed as
South Korea from here on out) government took in trying accomplishing economic
development despite its several economic and political upheavals. I will, specifically,
review the economic growth and institutions established in South Korea beginning in
the 1950s, the process of democratization in South Korea, and the effects that the
Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 had on South Korea. With the background information
of these factors, I will then delve into the importance of South Korea becoming an
economic power and the impact it has had on the United States of ... Show more

During the transition of forming a democratic nation, South Korea was not
immediately successful in creating economic growth. In order to achieve positive
changes in the economy, democratization must be institutionalized. It was difficult
for the economy to stabilize since mature institutions that could guarantee growth
were not created. Rather, the government tried to characterize the economy through
fast changes and rapid economic growth, when the government should have taken the
time to institutionalize political and economic systems. It is the building of mature
institutions that have proven to be crucial in policy making and implementing a
strong government that can maintain a consistent economic growth rate. IV. The
effects of the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 on South Korea:
The era of economic growth in South Korea came to a halt in 1997 due to the Asian
Financial Crisis that started in Thailand. By 1997, South Korean banks reached 24
percent of the gross national product (GNP) in foreign debt; 58.1 percent of the total
debt was short term debt. A number of the chaebol conglomerates were not only
bankrupt, but also collected an average debt equity ratio of almost 400 percent.
There were several reasons to why the financial crisis hit South Korea so hard
causing its worst economic fall since the Korean War.
Honey Bees Pollinators
Honey bees are pollinators that play a crucial role in our agriculture industry.
Many people do not realize how important a small insect can be. Bees pollinate
many different crops from almonds to coffee and account for the pollination of
$15 billion worth of crops in the United States per year. From April 2016 to April
2017 Beekeepers in the U.S. lost 33% of their honey bees ( U.S. Beekeepers 2017).
The continued loss of honey bees has been due to several factors such as habitat
loss, disease, climate change, and in big part due to Neonicotinoid insecticide
exposure. Having healthy bee populations is critical since they are responsible for
one out of every three bites of food we eat. Not only are pollinators important for
crops but they also have a role in native plant populations and guaranteeing seed
creation. Although the statistics above are from the United States it is important to
remember that insectpollinators are crucial to agricultureworldwide, and the main
insect pollinators are bees ( Pollination 2017). Brief 1: Federal Government The use
of Neonicotinoid insecticides is contributing to the decline of bee populations which
are critical to pollinating our crops. Evidence of Neonicotinoids effect on bees can
be found in the peer review report Chronic exposure to neonicotinoids reduces honey
beehealth near corn crops (Tsvetkov, et al. 2017). If nothing is implemented to fix this
it will end up having a substantial effect on our agricultural industry, and
Transient Global Amnesia
Transient Global Amnesia and Sleep
This paper will discuss whether Transient Global Amnesia (TGA) is or is not
induced by our sleep patterns and quality of sleep. Per the Journal of Clinical Sleep
Medicine (JCSM), Transient Global Amnesia (TGA) is defined as a temporary
memory loss characterized by an abrupt onset of anterograde (AGA) and retrograde
amnesia (RA). In other words, TGA occurs when there is a sudden occurrence of both
Anterograde amnesia and retrograde amnesia at the same time. As defined by the
JCSM, anterograde amnesia is the acute inability to retain new information and
retrograde amnesia is the significant reduction in the ability to recall past events.

But can consolidation of memories be affected in the same way? In studies that
concentrated on how Benzodiazepines (a substance used as a sleep aid and an anti
anxiety medicine) affected the quality of sleep and memory of events that happen
during interrupted sleep periods. Subjects fell back asleep rather quickly, but
come morning, had much trouble recalling the tasks they were given to complete
earlier in the night. In studies that looked at memory between wake and sleep,
researchers presented undergraduate students a verbal word as they drifted off into
sleep. But of course, to ensure sleepiness the students were limited to two hours of
sleep the night prior to the experiment. Researchers used an electroencephalograph
(EEG), which is a tool to determine one s position in the wake to sleep cycle. Using
the EEG researchers determined when their subjects were asleep then either
allowed them short periods of sleep or long periods before waking them. Once
their subjects were woken up, they tested their memory through recognition.
Results showed that the subjects who experienced short periods of sleep did, in
fact, the memory test. In contrast, the subjects that could sleep for a longer period,
in this case, ten minutes, had a greater difficulty remembering the word relayed to
them in the five minutes prior to them falling asleep. These results were interpreted
as an interruption of the transfer of the memory from short term to long term
storage. Thus, the memory was in a sense erased and was unavailable to be
recalled. This difficulty is an example of RA, as has been defined, and as an
example of RA being induced by interruptions in the quality of sleep. However, if
subjects were aroused in any way as they drifted off to sleep and were read their
words, then it could be that AGA has been induced. What this fails to conclude
however is if both

Hamlet Symbolism Essay
Symbolism in Shakespeare s Hamlet Hamlet* is a play known worldwide and was
written between 1599 and 1605 by the ingenious author and poet, William
Shakespeare. The play is a drama that includes a love story, betrayal, and a tragic
ending. During the time Hamlet was written, the population of England loved
watching the hard ache of others and they epically loved murder and gore. Luckily
for Shakespeare, todays current population loves watching and reading about the
same things which kept most of his work around. The play Hamletis the story of a
young prince that lost his father to a murderer who happens to be his uncle, Claudius.
Claudius then marries Hamlet s mother, Queen Gertrude making Claudius the new
King of England. Hamlet s deceased... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the play, Hamlet is a very cautious character that always has a second
thought about everything. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe author of Wilhelm
Meister s Apprenticeship and Travels describes Hamlet s thought process while the
ghost was present and after it had disappeared. Hamlet has no firm belief either in
himself or in anything else... He believes in the ghost of his father as long as he
sees it, but as soon as it has disappeared, it appears to him almost in the light of
deception (Goethe 11). What Goethe is saying is, while the ghost was present,
Hamlet trusted it and listened to it as if it opposed no threat. Once the ghost was out
of sight, Hamlet thought twice about whether or not he should trust the ghost and get
revenge because the thought that the ghost was really the devil trying to get Hamlet
to sin. Hamlet second guesses him self on the second appearance of the ghost as
well. As Hamlet was harassing his mother out of built up rage, the ghost appears and
tells him to focus on killing Claudius, not his mother. At this moment of the play,
Hamlet s mood completely changes and he stops harassing his mother. The ghost
plays a major role in hamlets thought process and plays as a symbol for multiple

Speech Censorship
Free Speech Regulations With The Use Of Censorship The use of censorship when
it comes to free speech is extremely present in today s society. However, freedom of
speech has caused vast problems in our history s past. Censorship has helped regulate
free speech, acting as a barrier to various societies that make up the American culture.
Hate speechhas created various stereotypes which lead to violence, hence censorship
should be implemented in order to prevent these issues, whether on campuses, in the
media or even in religious settings. Throughout this essay, I will be focusing on
various topics regarding how censorship can prevent hate speech towards
communities that coincide with violence within the American society and explore
different ways to respond when hate speech is directed towards a community. In
America s past history, the offensive speech that was present in classic literature, as
well as films containing controversial content, making them socially unacceptable or
racist in today s society. I believe the use of censorship should be implemented in
current literature, films and amongst the media, which can prevent hate speech and

Intercultural Management
Topic Review: General Management
Effective cross cultural management has to be grounded in a detailed knowledge of
individual cultures. Discuss using examples from two multinational companies.
I/ Introduction: In times of rapid globalisation and economic development growth, the
environment of business has become more and more complicated as a huge number
of firms want to globally expand their businesses. Subsequently, the managerial
implications of cross cultural management is the challenge of this development. As
Abbe (2007) states, cross cultural leadership has developed as a way to understand
leaders who work in the global markets. Culture is the software of mind that can
influence people s patterns of thinking and behaving. ... Show more content on

As a result, it is critical and essential for adaptation to achieve corporate success.
According to the works of Chaney amp; Martin (2011) and Harris amp; Moran
(2000), they agree that international management skills are in need for the increasing
scope of international trades and investments. A large number of multinational
companies have expanded their businesses through both developed and developing
countries. Some of the business invest directly and others are partnership
arrangements and strategic alliances with domestic operations. Their studies show
that independent entrepreneurs and small businesses have started investing and
competing in the world marketplace. Thus, to acquire corporations objectives, there is
exceedingly a necessity for the development of strategic framework for cross cultural
management and communication in the current competitive global market. Chaney
amp; Martin (2011) also noted that, cultural awareness and cultural differences are
strongly important to the multinational corporations success. A good understanding
of the culture where business is implemented can make international managers
productive and effective.

there are more than 4,000 Wal Mart stores. On average, it costs more than $2,000
each year at Wal Mart for every American household.

In the Address On the American Recovery Reinvestment Act Seventh Anniversary
by Barack Obama, people could see the use of descriptive assumptions about the
economy of America and the use of renewable energy policies that supports Obama s
Government. Those different assumptions performed are well received by the
audience. Or at least those assumptions caused a good reception in the thinking of
people respect to the recovery of the economy of America and the innovation in the
use of clean energy. Also, it is important to recognize some illogical assumptions in
this speech of Obama.
Obama used multiple assumptions from descriptive nature in different parts of his
speech to support the work of his government. In order to analyze Obama s
assumptions, people had to check that Obama started using real data to create a
feeling of confidence with the audience like And people here in Florida were

Denmark, United Kingdom, Sweden, and other countries had better records than
America in the leading of clean energy. For example, Denmark set a new world
record for wind production in 2014, getting 39.1 percent of its overall electricity from
the clean energy source. (EcoWacth)
Third assumption, Clean energy is about unleashing the potential of all these new
technologies because we can figure some stuff out just about better than anybody

country like Morocco had put all efforts to build the greatest super solar power on

fields compared with other state
The Effect Of Gmms On Study Medication Adherence Has...
Our systematic review demonstrates that the use of GMMs to study medication
adherence has increased considerably in the past few years, with no studies having
been conducted prior to 2010. This is likely a reflection of the fact that GMMs are a
relatively newer statistical technique. For instance, Nagin first introduced GBTMs in
1999, and MuthГ©n introduced GMMs in 2001.23, 24, According to a literature
search conducted by Nagin and Odgers, a small, but rapidly developing clinical
literature base has emerged since these models were first proposed from 2000 to
2008, applications of these methods to clinical studies increased from 8 to 80
publications per year.25 Thus, it is perhaps unsurprising, that increased familiarity
through application in other clinical areas, led to eventual adoption and
popularization of the technique in studying medication adherence. GMMs (and their
GBTM counterparts) provide a sophisticated statistical method by which to capture
the heterogeneity within a given population, and often map onto how many
researchers conceptualize growth, in that, different types of individuals likely exhibit
different trajectories of behavior. Given the rapid adoption and application of such
models within the clinical literature, and the fact that this modeling technique is
relatively novel, it stands to reason that there may be certain methodological nuances
which have been overlooked or ignored by researchers. Our review reveals several
problematic issues related to
The Role of Directors and Officers
There are a number of people that are critical to the corporate process. These
include the directors of corporations, officers, and shareholders. The primary role
of the directors is that of oversight (Loewenstein, 1998). The directors are hired by
the shareholders, and their duty is to oversee the actions of the corporate
executive. The directors hire the CEO and set his/her salary and benefits. The
directors also play a role in oversight of the strategy and operations this tells them
about the merits of the executive that they have hired. Since Sarbanes Oxley
(SOX) was enacted, directors have seen their oversight role expanded (Skinner,
2006). There must be within the director group some financial experience to
provide explicit financial oversight of the firm. The law prescribes certain
committees as well, including audit and compensation committees, and SOX has
also increased the liability that director s face, while expanding the role that
directors play in the firm. It should be noted that Sarbanes Oxley only applies to
public companies. For company that are not publicly traded (closed companies), the
provisions of SOX do not apply. There are fundamental differences between closed
companies and public companies. The former probably has a board of directors but
the role and function of such a board can vary dramatically from firm to firm,
something that is not the case with public companies. Closed companies are subject
to different standards because there are no
Motivations In Beowulf
Out With a Bang
(An Analysis of Beowulf s Motivations)
From the Anglo Saxon epic, the poem Beowulf is known to be the first written
story in English history. The Anglo Saxon era was the time of the vikings and Norse
people. There is little to nothing known of this era except for the written language
and a bit of the religion and lifestyle. However, the Anglo Saxon era was the
beginning of the written English language that we know today. It all starts with the
poem Beowulf . Obviously, there is no author accounted for because the story began
as oral interpretation that evolved into the epic poem we know today through
multiple translations. The story is about the first English hero, Beowulf, who became
an ultimate hero of his time. Through his travels in this story he comes across a
place that gives him the motivation to become the ultimate king and an epic hero.
There are three motivations of the epic hero, Beowulf, which are duty, glory, and
ending it all with a bang. Beowulf s first motivation is his duty ... Show more content

In the end, that is basically what he does, but he does not succeed in actually
killing the dragon. Instead, his cohort, Wiglaf, had been the only man to stand by
his side and ended up being the man who kills the dragon in the end and becomes
king. However, Beowulf still succeeds in his ultimate goal to have one final battle
to fight in his life that ends with his unfortunate demise. However, he does succeed
with his ultimate goal of leaving his life with a legacy and insisting to have his
body taken back to his father for a proper funeral service. There are rumors of the
famous Odysseus (Ulysses) who, after his time of heroic deeds, eventually withers
away into oblivion. Unlike Odysseus, Beowulf knows that if he is going to die, he
wants to die with style and wants to ensure that his legacy will be known for his
whole life; and known for centuries to
Correlation Between Media Multitasking And The
Differences...
Abstract
This article investigates the correlation between media multitasking and the
differences of working memory and long term memory in heavy media multitaskers
and low media multitaskers. The data was collected from one hundred forty three
participants ranging in ages from 18 35. The study was conducted from the Stanford
University community. The researchers of this study explore the possibilities of
multitasking in relation to working and long term memory. The results showed that
there were four significant findings. A limitation of this study was that the correlation
of student academic outcome and media multitasking was used only by a correlation
design study. Although, this design suggests that a relationship exist between two
variables, the study cannot prove that one variable had a negative or positive effect
change in another variable. Keywords: media multitasking index, HMMs (heavy

For humans to go faster than they have ever gone before they had to research
many different things spend both money and time to finally reach this goal and
this paper will take you through that process of research done for that goal to be
reached. With the possibility of faster flight people will always want to see how
fast they can push the aircraft they design. The development and research that went
into the aircrafts that helped break the sound barrier, took a long time and many
people co operation. But after many years of research and testing with several
different types of aircrafts they were able to succeed in producing an aircraft that
could surpass the sound barrier and bring us into a new era of flight. The ideas on
how to get an aircraft up to the speed and the designs of many researcher had to
come together in order for this feat to be accomplished. From the engineering stages

object moving through it to at such high speeds and the equipment that needed to be

Who Framed Roger Rabbit Essay
Film Critique: Assignment 1
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
I would consider Who Framed Roger Rabbit to be an excellent portrayal of a 40 s
crime thriller with 80 s technology. Although riddled with minute continuity and
factual errors Who Framed Roger Rabbit is the first successful movie to have life
action and animation work seamlessly together in a way that makes you believe
Roger and Jessica Rabbit are living breathing characters. Although there are more
recent live action animation films such as Space Jam, I would consider Who Framed
Roger Rabbit to be the best in its field.
From the first moment that live action meets animations you can imagine this world
and wish it were real. The Toons cast shadows and grasp live actors, giving the
animations the feeling of being 3 dimentional. Knowing that the animators created
all the artwork frame by frame make it even more spectacular to watch. The way in
which the animators were able to bring together the artwork of various artists from
Disney and Looney Tunes classics is outstanding. The way in which they cobbled
together all of the different animated characters from real cartoons and designed it in

The lines are delivered well especially by the animated characters. The tone and
speech patterns of the animated characters are consistent, making the characters
believable and bringing the characters to life. The dialogue and the actions and
reactions of the live action actors and the animated characters are done flawlessly
to allow the audience to believe that the live action characters are actually talking
and interacting to the Toons. The script is clearly based on the vocabulary and
delivery of lines that were frequently seen in the private eye, crime thrillers in 40 s

The Success of the Bolsheviks in Gaining Power in Russia...
The Success of the Bolsheviks in Gaining Power in Russia by 1922
In February 1917, the Bolshevik party was small and irrelevant. The leadership was
abroad and there was little consistency of purpose among the party in Russia.
However, by the summer of 1922, the Bolsheviks had become the dominant force, and
a new communist state had emerged from their success. The purpose of this essay is
to explain this transformation.
The abdication of Tsar Nicholas II and the collapse of the Romanov dynasty threw
Russia into a state of turmoil. The elites had withdrawn their support for the Tsar
after a series of disastrous defeats in the war and continued social and economic
problems. In the wake of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the financial considerations, the Provisional Government felt obliged to
continue the war out of a sense of loyalty to Britain and France. In addition, they
were reluctant to leave the war without salvaging some prestige and pride from the
current situation. They were still hopeful of an allied victory. However, the decision
to continue with the war was to prove extremely unfortunate. It was unpopular, as
there appeared to be few aims to the continued fighting. The government quickly lost
the support of a large proportion of the troops. These disillusioned peasants in
uniform provided excellent targets for Bolshevik propaganda. What is more, the
Russian situation in the war worsened and humiliating defeat began to loom large on
the horizon.
Russia was a poverty stricken, backward power in 1917. It also had a majority
peasant population. The continuation of the war meant that the key issues of peace,
bread and land that Lenin so aptly highlighted could not be addressed. Reforms and
visible improvement in the peasant way of life were vital if the government wished
to gain their support and maintain its power.
However, revolutionary forces, suppressed under Tsarist Russia came to the surface
under the new, weaker and less repressive Provisional Government to create a body
known as the Soviet. This body created a

Here, one is not placed on any limits regarding the response. An example is when
questioning a person with mental illness. An answer given can lead to another
problem (Ibrahim et al, 2015). From such, much information is collected, and more
precise conclusions can be made. In sensitive questioning, the mental expert can
get adequate answers. Protective factors as part of the risk assessment Over the
ten years, research has been directed to try to determine how drug abuse and
mental illness begin and how they progress. Many factors, add to a person s risk
for drug addiction. On the other hand, protective factors reduce the chance. Risk
factors may vary amongst people. As for children, risk and protective factors can
affect them at different stages of their lives (Ibrahim et al, 2015). At each stage, the
risks can be changed through intervention at various stages of their lives. Some early
childhood risks such as aggressive behavior can be modified and be prevented with
school, family and community interventions that focus on helping the children
develop appropriate and positive behaviors. If not addressed, the negative behaviors
can lead to more risks, such as academic failure and social difficulties, which
endanger the children more, exposing them to further risk of later drug abuse. The
common early risk factor is difficult temperament. This

Socrates And Achilles
Socrates and Achilles: the Martyr Heroes
Madelyn Vogel
ILS 205
By comparing himself to the Greek hero Achilles before the jury in Plato s Apology,
Socrates attempts to portray himself as a hero of equal merit to Achilles and others
of similar standing. By selecting the greatest of the Classical Greeks to compare and
contrast himself to in his argument, Socrates surreptitiously urges his audience to
view him as being of the same caliber as Achilles. This not only authenticates
Socrates claims, but also exhibits his disconnect from earlier forms of thought.
Essentially, Socrates attempts to display himself in the same light as his predecessor
Achilles through their shared aspiration to do what they deem to be right in addition
to their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the battle of Troy, Achilles chooses almost certain death in exchange for the
honor of avenging Patroclus. As Socrates paraphrases, when his mother said to
him, as he was eager to slay Hector, My son, if you avenge the death of your friend
Patroclus and kill Hector, you yourself shall die; for straightway, after Hector, is
death appointed unto you, (The Apology, 28c). However, Socrates is relatively
loose in his representation of Achilles. Homer s Achilles is focused primarily on
private affairs as seen when he only agrees to return to battle to avenge personal loss
in the form of his beloved Patroclus (The Iliad, book 18, 120). Contrastingly, Socrates
represents the Greek hero as being much more absorbed by the necessity of attaining
honor and justice for both himself and his peers. Through this specific example,
Socrates makes it apparent that, he, like Achilles before him, is both willing and
able to die if that is what it takes to find truth. He will under no circumstances
condemn any of his actions just to save his life. Socrates primary motivation for
comparing himself to Achilles, the best of all the classic heroes, is to convince the
jury of his Achillean heroism. One attribute of a hero according to the events of the
Iliad is that one must either kill or be killed in the pursuit of honor. Correspondingly,
the Iliad chronicles Achilles life and death on the natural path to heroism. Despite the

First of all, let me explain what is Business Analytics?
According to1Gartner (2013) „Business analyticsis comprised of solutions used to
build analysis models and simulations to create scenarios, understand realities and
predict future states.
So in summary we are using many types of analytical and statistical methods to
transform the raw data into a shape where we can get information from it, and get a
conclusion. Based onthese informationand conclusions we will be able to make
business decisions, which might affect the future success.
Regarding the Business Analytics we need to understand that it has different levels,
based on the business value it has, and also based on the complexity to apply it. In
regards to the complexity required to apply, we are moving from the descriptive type

the derogatory nickname, Lord of Misrule, who ran a School of Atheism (Bradford

Disadvantages of plaster models are that they are subject to physical damage and

Recent advances in digital models have allowed orthodontists to perform

or degradation and do not require physical storage space. Furthermore, they can be
easily transferred to other clinicians or retrieved at multiple locations, requiring only
digital storage space 8. Similar studies on evaluation of digital study models in
orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning were performed and indicated that in

Americans were being formed and it was still unknown how the two groups would

Effects of Progeria on Immune System Essay
Attack of Progerin: Lamins are intermediate filament proteins forming a network in
the inner nuclear membrane (ubcmj.com). They are essential to the body, maintaining
the structural integrity of the nucleus and have a hand in chromatin organization,
DNA replication/transcription, and RNA processing (ubcmj.com). A common
malfunction that occurs in HGPS patients is a heterozygous single cytosine to
thymine point mutation in exon 11 at position 1824 of the coding sequence. Although
there is no amino acid change, such mutation generates a cryptic splice site, resulting
in a transcript 150 base pairs shorter than normal and 50 fewer amino acids translated

Normal Process of Lamin A Maturation: Normally, the lamin A mRNA is translated to
prelamin A and becomes farnesylated. As a result, the farnesylated prelaim A anchors
to the inner nuclear membrane and is cleaved by Zmpste24, which produces mature
lamin A.
Damages Inflicted on Genome Replication: During interphase, there is a loss of
heterochomatin and nucleoplasmic lamin A foci. The nucleoplasmic foci contain
replicative proteins (PCNA and polymerase), which are critical for ordered initiation
of genome replication in early S phase (impactaging). DNA replication occurs during
the S phase, the phase of DNA synthesis. During the S phase, a checkpoint is
triggered when problems with DNA replication are encountered. Checkpoints
serve as surveillance cameras that ensure genome integrity; they function to arrest
the cell cycle until detected problems in cell division or replication are resolved.
That being the case, checkpoints steer away from the derailment of the DNA
replication process. Our cells should not undergo division before the completion of
genome replication! The S phase is crucial for the process of mitosis, the part of
the cell cycle when the cell undergoes cell division. This event allows for each cell
formed by cell division to have the same genetic make up. Cell division is essential
for growth. As all organisms

Also, the WACC of our company is always around 5.5%, we can use Monte Carlo
Simulation to run the estimation of Equity value by changing WACC, growth rate
and COGS/Revenue each year. The random calculation displays as the full report in
attachment.
The most important thing is that, according to our estimation, the next five year we

short term future based on this model. In conclusion,
Developing Countries During The Cold War Under
Corrupt...
Developing countries spent years repaying billions of dollars in loans, many of
which had been accumulated during the Cold War under corrupt regimes. Years later,
these debts became a serious barrier to poverty reduction and economic development
in many poor countries. Governments began taking on new loans to repay old ones
and many countries ended up spending more each year to service debtpayments than
they did on health and education combined. Wealthy countries and international
financial institutions have taken action to relieve debt burdens in many of the world
s poorest countries primarily through the Heavily Indebted Poor Country (HIPC)
scheme and the Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI) (see below) but debt
burdens are still a problem.
Firstly, not all poor countries have been able to benefit debt cancellation. Some
were excluded from the original HIPC deal because they had done a relatively
good job in managing their debts. Today, these countries still spend a significant
portion of their resources servicing their debt. In 2013, for example, Lesotho spent
$40 million paying its external creditors. Kenya spent $620 million servicing its
external debt, which is equal to 20% of the aid it received the same year. The HIPC
scheme is now coming to an end. Except for the few countries still eligible to enter
it, there is now no international process in place for dealing with government debt
crisis.
A second problem is vulture funds financial speculators
##aw s Use Of Religious Themes In The Poetry Of Richard...
Richard Crashaw was an English poet who wrote his poetry in the tradition of
Continental baroque. Continental baroque was a way of writing literature in a more
vivid and visual way. Crashaw often uses elaborate detail and vivid description.
Another major influence in the poetry of Crashaw is the use of religious themes.
Crashaw was heavily influenced by the Counter Reformation. He was a converted
Roman Catholic, whose religious beliefs often caused him strife and forced him to
constantly relocate. Crashaw often revised his poems, adding more detail and length.
His poetrytends to be long, yet when revised, Crashaw always felt the need to add
more description. Crashaw became a priest of the Church of England in 1639
(Greenblatt, Stephen). He then became a college lecturer and wrote many sermons
that read like poems. Religionwas a major influence for Crashaw. When Puritans
occupied his home of Cambridge, they were so violent that Crashaw was forced to
flee for his life. He traveled to Paris, and converted to Roman Catholicism in 1645
(Greenblatt, Stephen). Another religious influence is the Jesuit religion and material
he had studied. This influence can be found in the poem Music s Duel from The
Delights of the Muses. Crashaw actually felt that Jesuit material was compatible with
his religious views, and a nationalistic language (Healy, Thomas F). Being that
Crashaw was from England, and was originally a Priest for the English Church, he
was heavily influence by his

but the majority of the people turn to the virtual online world to escape from their
psychological, emotional, and interpersonal problem. A virtual online game that is

The Historical Reasons Between Natural Science And Religion For hundreds even thousands of years since human formed their society and different ideologies, two invisible walls separate people from each other. The wall is more historic to be discussed is the one between natural science and religion, which people disagree with each other on the genesis of the world. According to most of history events, scienceand religioncannot get along with each other, the reasons relate to the historical reasons, the different method to measure the world, and the word faith. In the centuries of despotism by religion, people struggled, crept out of the chaos of mind, and then cleaned up their thought, finally entered the new era of natural science. However, loyal old religious constitutions never let the belief in their dominion have divarication. As the result, the war of ideologies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the grand fundamental principles of Mormonism is to receive truth, let it come from whence it may. (Smith, J., p.199) According to Joseph Smith s (1965) discourse, the original purpose of Mormonism is to receive the truth bases on the foundation of the Bible, where the purpose is the same as science, people research and study in science literally finding out the truth of the world. Indeed, science and pure religion have a same target: to reach the truth. The Bible in the old age was reasonable for people to learn about the universe and anthropology. On the other hand, science, people apply it as a universal standard to discover the world and the universe, also called the Weltanschauung. Certainly, science represents the same spirit as religion. As the result, science and religion both bring principles to this world: science offers reasonable explanation of the universe with evidences; religion provides one explanation of the world to its adherent, and any unexplainable phenomenon and events would be explained as the god s

Essay about Cancer and Terry Tempest Williams Refuge Cancer and Terry Tempest Williams Refuge I cannot prove my mother, my grandmothers, along with my aunts developed cancer from nuclear fallout in Utah. But I can t prove they didn t. Epilogue, Refuge In Terry Tempest Williams s Refuge, death slowly claimed almost all of the women of her family. Death took Williams family members one by one just one or two years apart. In every case, the cause was cancer. Williams insisted in the epilogue that fall out from the 1951 62 nuclear testing in Utah brought cancer to her family. Because there are many other causes of cancer, such as genetic and environmental factors, it is hard for one to insist that nuclear fall out causes cancer. It is a substance that dissolves into liquid such as water and milk. Other chemicals such as Strontium 90 and Cesium 147 as well get into water, milk, soil, food and vegetables that we eat and cause bone, skin cancer and leukemia. Chemicals like Strontium 90 and Cesium 147 remain for up to 200 to 300 years in the atmosphere (CancerSource.) The United States tested nuclear bombs, 215 A and H bombs (www.nukewatch.com) above ground between 1951 and 1963 in the Nevada Test Site. Fifty years later, the U.S government studies stated that over 80,000 people who lived or were born in the U.S suffered from cancer caused by radioactive fall out from nuclear testing. Over 15,000 of them died. Many of whom were from the states close to the testing sites, called the downwinders, Utah, Idaho and other states. From the Nevada Test Site the winds carried nuclear radiation fallout, filled with iodine 131 which caused 75,000 thyroid cancers, ten percent of which are estimated to have been fatal, and strontium 90 and cesium 137, which are dangerous for between 280 and 300 years, (nukewatch) likely causes of bone and skin cancer and leukemia. Therefore, there is some strong evidence that nuclear fall out in the 1950s did cause cancer. Downwinders and people from the states close to the test site were severely exposed to the fallout and have suffered from all kind of cancers. The Center for Disease
  • 4. Tony Hillerman s The Ghostaway Essay Tony Hillerman s The Ghostaway In a country that is the melting pot for many cultures, it is hard to interact with all of them. Tony Hillerman educates readers about one culture, the Navajos, through his novel, The Ghostway. After a shooting occurs in the quiet Indian reservation, a Navajo police Jim Chee, officer overcomes many obstacles physically, mentally, and spiritually to sort the case out and protect a young girl. He is constantly struggling with his identity, whether or not he should continue living his life as a Navajo or cross over to mainstream white life. When Chee is eating at a diner in the city of L.A. he finds it intriguing that it is difficult to figure out the ethnic identity of the waitress, On the big reservation, where people were scarce and scattered, one tended to lump them into categories. (146) Chee compares how the people from where he is from are not stuck into categories but are all the same. He was not use to seeing so many different races and it was hard for him to distinguish what race is what. Chee also found it to be complicated when it came to see life through other ways rather than the Navajo way because it was so different form what he was used to and he can not make the change. A way that the author also showed cultural differences is through the character Vaggan, a white hit man that wanted the death of those around him. There are times in the book where the author would tell the story from the point of view of Chee to the point of view of Vaggan. During the first meeting between Chee and Vaggan the author does this where Chee is called an indian instead of by his name, The Indian said something in Navajo and laughed. (205) By calling him an Indian, the author shows how Vaggan s ignorance made him assume that Chee was nothing but a drunk Indian. Since Chee and Vaggan are adversaries to each other it is reasonable to compare them and see how they match up to each other. Vagaan is a violent white man with disregard to human life
  • 5. Comparing Handel And Bach Bach versus Handel Two of the greatest Baroque Era composers that still influence music to this day with their compositions are Johan Sebastian Bach and George Fredrick Handel. The influence of Bach and Handel s music is found in mainstream media throughout the world. Their compositions are still played in modern times by tribute bands, television commercials, operas, concerts and even sound therapies by relaxation therapists. It is evident that their music has touched the lives of many people throughout the centuries. Bach and Handel both have unique styles of music. Even though they are similar in some ways, they are rather different in other ways. Handel and Bach composed music for similar types of instruments and composed musical pieces and vocal works. They both wrote compositions for some of the same type of works such as Fugues, Preludes, and Suites. Although, Handel wrote some operas, Bach wrote a large variety of church music. Majority of Bach s compositions were Cantatas and Passions. What made Handel s music rather different then Bach was the fact that he used simple harmonic progression. Bach s music was written with sudden surprising harmonic shifts and he also focused on adding extra ordinary chords throughout his works. Handel preferred using simple textures, by creating music with three different melodies that were to be played at once, while several other instruments were being played at the same time. Bach on the other hand creatively composed his music

Mental preparation has to be used to be ready for the kick. When kicking a field goal, laces kick will be used (toe down, power in knee flexion). There are different stages for analysis movement of a soccer field goal kick. A player does not stand still when kicking a field goal. The player determines the angle and direction of the kick. The diagonal approach is known to produce a greater ball speed and swing limb velocity. Study has shown that a 45 degree angle approach produces the greatest peak ball velocity, compared to a 15 degree or 30 degree run up (Isokawa and Lees). The chart ... Not only is the role of food used to show racism but to express how women, particularly African Americans, were the better of the cooks in the 1960 s. The significance of food in the culture of the South changed since the 1960 s to now because every meal used to be home cooked and not store bought or fast food like today. African American maids food used to be called Soul Food to relate to how well the maids cooked with what was available to them. Maids used to share recipes verbally, they cooked for one another, and would have home cooked meals everyday. Today people hardly ever have home cooked meals and some people do not know how to cook, like Mrs. Celia in the novel. The role and significance of food throughout the novel shows separation and the differences we have today amongst African Americans and food. In Kathryn Stockett s novel The Help, the role of food shows racism is present and showed that African American maids were the better of cooks in the 1960 s because they were able to cook with any ingredient available to them. Soul Food is a term used for an ethnic cuisine, food traditionally prepared and eaten by African Americans of the Southern United States ( Soul Food ). This term is coming from slavery when they had to be able to make food with very little. Like in the novel, Minny is a great cook compared to her boss, Celia, who she was attempting to help teach to cook. Observing from the ground will be harder. We can observe frequencies within the radio and the optic al range. The major disadvantage is the size. The larger the mirror on the space telescope then the more light will be gathered up and more detail we can resolve. Ebony Gene Effect Lab Report In this experiment we were able to map the ebony gene in Drosophila m, which is a gene that can affect the phenotypical body colour of a fly but is also required to supress some melanin formation (6). However the ebony gene is found in both cells that produce melanised and non melanised cuticle. This is because in the presence of increased Yellow geneexpression (6) the ebony gene effect is repressed. Genetic mapping is not only a tool that allows you to look at singular genes as above but also allows you to map a whole genome sequence. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the transition of forming a democratic nation, South Korea was not immediately successful in creating economic growth. In order to achieve positive changes in the economy, democratization must be institutionalized. It was difficult for the economy to stabilize since mature institutions that could guarantee growth were not created. Rather, the government tried to characterize the economy through fast changes and rapid economic growth, when the government should have taken the time to institutionalize political and economic systems. It is the building of mature institutions that have proven to be crucial in policy making and implementing a strong government that can maintain a consistent economic growth rate. IV. The effects of the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 on South Korea: The era of economic growth in South Korea came to a halt in 1997 due to the Asian Financial Crisis that started in Thailand. By 1997, South Korean banks reached 24 percent of the gross national product (GNP) in foreign debt; 58.1 percent of the total debt was short term debt. A number of the chaebol conglomerates were not only bankrupt, but also collected an average debt equity ratio of almost 400 percent. There were several reasons to why the financial crisis hit South Korea so hard causing its worst economic fall since the Korean War.
  • 14. Honey Bees Pollinators Honey bees are pollinators that play a crucial role in our agriculture industry. Many people do not realize how important a small insect can be. Bees pollinate many different crops from almonds to coffee and account for the pollination of $15 billion worth of crops in the United States per year. From April 2016 to April 2017 Beekeepers in the U.S. lost 33% of their honey bees ( U.S. Beekeepers 2017). The continued loss of honey bees has been due to several factors such as habitat loss, disease, climate change, and in big part due to Neonicotinoid insecticide exposure. Having healthy bee populations is critical since they are responsible for one out of every three bites of food we eat. Not only are pollinators important for crops but they also have a role in native plant populations and guaranteeing seed creation. Although the statistics above are from the United States it is important to remember that insectpollinators are crucial to agricultureworldwide, and the main insect pollinators are bees ( Pollination 2017). Brief 1: Federal Government The use of Neonicotinoid insecticides is contributing to the decline of bee populations which are critical to pollinating our crops. Evidence of Neonicotinoids effect on bees can be found in the peer review report Chronic exposure to neonicotinoids reduces honey beehealth near corn crops (Tsvetkov, et al. 2017). If nothing is implemented to fix this it will end up having a substantial effect on our agricultural industry, and

Per the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine (JCSM), Transient Global Amnesia (TGA) is defined as a temporary memory loss characterized by an abrupt onset of anterograde (AGA) and retrograde amnesia (RA). In other words, TGA occurs when there is a sudden occurrence of both Anterograde amnesia and retrograde amnesia at the same time. As defined by the JCSM, anterograde amnesia is the acute inability to retain new information and retrograde amnesia is the significant reduction in the ability to recall past events. In studies that concentrated on how Benzodiazepines (a substance used as a sleep aid and an anti anxiety medicine) affected the quality of sleep and memory of events that happen during interrupted sleep periods. Subjects fell back asleep rather quickly, but come morning, had much trouble recalling the tasks they were given to complete earlier in the night. In studies that looked at memory between wake and sleep, researchers presented undergraduate students a verbal word as they drifted off into sleep. But of course, to ensure sleepiness the students were limited to two hours of sleep the night prior to the experiment. Researchers used an electroencephalograph (EEG), which is a tool to determine one s position in the wake to sleep cycle. Using the EEG researchers determined when their subjects were asleep then either allowed them short periods of sleep or long periods before waking them. Once their subjects were woken up, they tested their memory through recognition. Results showed that the subjects who experienced short periods of sleep did, in fact, the memory test. In contrast, the subjects that could sleep for a longer period, in this case, ten minutes, had a greater difficulty remembering the word relayed to them in the five minutes prior to them falling asleep. These results were interpreted as an interruption of the transfer of the memory from short term to long term storage. Thus, the memory was in a sense erased and was unavailable to be recalled. This difficulty is an example of RA, as has been defined, and as an example of RA being induced by interruptions in the quality of sleep. However, if subjects were aroused in any way as they drifted off to sleep and were read their words, then it could be that AGA has been induced. What this fails to conclude however is if both

He believes in the ghost of his father as long as he sees it, but as soon as it has disappeared, it appears to him almost in the light of deception (Goethe 11). What Goethe is saying is, while the ghost was present, Hamlet trusted it and listened to it as if it opposed no threat. Once the ghost was out of sight, Hamlet thought twice about whether or not he should trust the ghost and get revenge because the thought that the ghost was really the devil trying to get Hamlet to sin. However, freedom of speech has caused vast problems in our history s past. Censorship has helped regulate free speech, acting as a barrier to various societies that make up the American culture. Hate speechhas created various stereotypes which lead to violence, hence censorship should be implemented in order to prevent these issues, whether on campuses, in the media or even in religious settings. Throughout this essay, I will be focusing on various topics regarding how censorship can prevent hate speech towards communities that coincide with violence within the American society and explore different ways to respond when hate speech is directed towards a community. In America s past history, the offensive speech that was present in classic literature, as well as films containing controversial content, making them socially unacceptable or racist in today s society. I believe the use of censorship should be implemented in current literature, films and amongst the media, which can prevent hate speech and racial slurs. However, I believe that literature or films shouldn t be revised or have present censorship applied as it acts a representation of what the cultural atmosphere was during that specific time of publication. I consider the unedited original version a glimpse into the past. Further, I believe that these controversial

In the Address On the American Recovery Reinvestment Act Seventh Anniversary by Barack Obama, people could see the use of descriptive assumptions about the economy of America and the use of renewable energy policies that supports Obama s Government. Those different assumptions performed are well received by the audience. Or at least those assumptions caused a good reception in the thinking of people respect to the recovery of the economy of America and the innovation in the use of clean energy. Also, it is important to recognize some illogical assumptions in this speech of Obama. Obama used multiple assumptions from descriptive nature in different parts of his speech to support the work of his government. • 22. The Effect Of Gmms On Study Medication Adherence Has... Our systematic review demonstrates that the use of GMMs to study medication adherence has increased considerably in the past few years, with no studies having been conducted prior to 2010. This is likely a reflection of the fact that GMMs are a relatively newer statistical technique. For instance, Nagin first introduced GBTMs in 1999, and MuthГ©n introduced GMMs in 2001.23, 24, According to a literature search conducted by Nagin and Odgers, a small, but rapidly developing clinical literature base has emerged since these models were first proposed from 2000 to 2008, applications of these methods to clinical studies increased from 8 to 80 publications per year.25 Thus, it is perhaps unsurprising, that increased familiarity through application in other clinical areas, led to eventual adoption and popularization of the technique in studying medication adherence. GMMs (and their GBTM counterparts) provide a sophisticated statistical method by which to capture the heterogeneity within a given population, and often map onto how many researchers conceptualize growth, in that, different types of individuals likely exhibit different trajectories of behavior. Given the rapid adoption and application of such models within the clinical literature, and the fact that this modeling technique is relatively novel, it stands to reason that there may be certain methodological nuances which have been overlooked or ignored by researchers. Our review reveals several problematic issues related to
  • 23. The Role of Directors and Officers There are a number of people that are critical to the corporate process. These include the directors of corporations, officers, and shareholders. The primary role of the directors is that of oversight (Loewenstein, 1998). The directors are hired by the shareholders, and their duty is to oversee the actions of the corporate executive. The directors hire the CEO and set his/her salary and benefits. The directors also play a role in oversight of the strategy and operations this tells them about the merits of the executive that they have hired. Since Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) was enacted, directors have seen their oversight role expanded (Skinner, 2006). There must be within the director group some financial experience to provide explicit financial oversight of the firm. The law prescribes certain committees as well, including audit and compensation committees, and SOX has also increased the liability that director s face, while expanding the role that directors play in the firm. It should be noted that Sarbanes Oxley only applies to public companies. For company that are not publicly traded (closed companies), the provisions of SOX do not apply. There are fundamental differences between closed companies and public companies. The former probably has a board of directors but the role and function of such a board can vary dramatically from firm to firm, something that is not the case with public companies. Closed companies are subject to different standards because there are no

The Anglo Saxon era was the time of the vikings and Norse people. There is little to nothing known of this era except for the written language and a bit of the religion and lifestyle. However, the Anglo Saxon era was the beginning of the written English language that we know today. It all starts with the poem Beowulf . Obviously, there is no author accounted for because the story began as oral interpretation that evolved into the epic poem we know today through multiple translations. The story is about the first English hero, Beowulf, who became an ultimate hero of his time. Through his travels in this story he comes across a place that gives him the motivation to become the ultimate king and an epic hero. There are three motivations of the epic hero, Beowulf, which are duty, glory, and ending it all with a bang. Beowulf s first motivation is his duty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The data was collected from one hundred forty three participants ranging in ages from 18 35. The study was conducted from the Stanford University community. The researchers of this study explore the possibilities of multitasking in relation to working and long term memory. The results showed that there were four significant findings. A limitation of this study was that the correlation of student academic outcome and media multitasking was used only by a correlation design study. Although, this design suggests that a relationship exist between two variables, the study cannot prove that one variable had a negative or positive effect change in another variable. As Socrates paraphrases, when his mother said to him, as he was eager to slay Hector, My son, if you avenge the death of your friend Patroclus and kill Hector, you yourself shall die; for straightway, after Hector, is death appointed unto you, (The Apology, 28c). However, Socrates is relatively loose in his representation of Achilles. Homer s Achilles is focused primarily on private affairs as seen when he only agrees to return to battle to avenge personal loss in the form of his beloved Patroclus (The Iliad, book 18, 120). Contrastingly, Socrates represents the Greek hero as being much more absorbed by the necessity of attaining honor and justice for both himself and his peers. Through this specific example, Socrates makes it apparent that, he, like Achilles before him, is both willing and able to die if that is what it takes to find truth. He will under no circumstances condemn any of his actions just to save his life. Socrates primary motivation for comparing himself to Achilles, the best of all the classic heroes, is to convince the jury of his Achillean heroism. One attribute of a hero according to the events of the Iliad is that one must either kill or be killed in the pursuit of honor. Correspondingly, the Iliad chronicles Achilles life and death on the natural path to heroism. Despite the

As a result, the farnesylated prelaim A anchors to the inner nuclear membrane and is cleaved by Zmpste24, which produces mature lamin A. Damages Inflicted on Genome Replication: During interphase, there is a loss of heterochomatin and nucleoplasmic lamin A foci. The nucleoplasmic foci contain replicative proteins (PCNA and polymerase), which are critical for ordered initiation of genome replication in early S phase (impactaging). DNA replication occurs during the S phase, the phase of DNA synthesis. During the S phase, a checkpoint is triggered when problems with DNA replication are encountered. Checkpoints serve as surveillance cameras that ensure genome integrity; they function to arrest the cell cycle until detected problems in cell division or replication are resolved. That being the case, checkpoints steer away from the derailment of the DNA replication process. Our cells should not undergo division before the completion of genome replication! The S phase is crucial for the process of mitosis, the part of the cell cycle when the cell undergoes cell division. This event allows for each cell formed by cell division to have the same genetic make up. Cell division is essential for growth. As all organisms

Developing countries spent years repaying billions of dollars in loans, many of which had been accumulated during the Cold War under corrupt regimes. Years later, these debts became a serious barrier to poverty reduction and economic development in many poor countries. Governments began taking on new loans to repay old ones and many countries ended up spending more each year to service debtpayments than they did on health and education combined. Wealthy countries and international financial institutions have taken action to relieve debt burdens in many of the world s poorest countries primarily through the Heavily Indebted Poor Country (HIPC) scheme and the Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI) (see below) but debt burdens are still a problem. Firstly, not all poor countries have been able to benefit debt cancellation. Some were excluded from the original HIPC deal because they had done a relatively good job in managing their debts. Today, these countries still spend a significant portion of their resources servicing their debt. In 2013, for example, Lesotho spent $40 million paying its external creditors. Kenya spent $620 million servicing its external debt, which is equal to 20% of the aid it received the same year. The HIPC scheme is now coming to an end. Except for the few countries still eligible to enter it, there is now no international process in place for dealing with government debt crisis. • 41. ##aw s Use Of Religious Themes In The Poetry Of Richard... Richard Crashaw was an English poet who wrote his poetry in the tradition of Continental baroque. Continental baroque was a way of writing literature in a more vivid and visual way. Crashaw often uses elaborate detail and vivid description. Another major influence in the poetry of Crashaw is the use of religious themes. Crashaw was heavily influenced by the Counter Reformation. He was a converted Roman Catholic, whose religious beliefs often caused him strife and forced him to constantly relocate. Crashaw often revised his poems, adding more detail and length. His poetrytends to be long, yet when revised, Crashaw always felt the need to add more description. Crashaw became a priest of the Church of England in 1639 (Greenblatt, Stephen). He then became a college lecturer and wrote many sermons that read like poems. Religionwas a major influence for Crashaw. When Puritans occupied his home of Cambridge, they were so violent that Crashaw was forced to flee for his life.
