Dr Faustus as a Tragedy
Q.1. Discuss Dr Faustus as a tragedy.
Tragedy Definition
Aristotle defines a tragedy as a representation of an action which is important, complete and limited in
length. It is enacted not recited and by arousing pity and fear, it gives an outlet to emotions of this
type.
However, for the Elizabethans, more specifically for Marlowe and Shakespeare, tragedy is not a
restrictive view of human excellence or weakness as the Greeks are often inclined to present but an
affirmative view of human aspirations whose pursuit brings a glory to the definition of a man.
Struggle, conflict, suffering and failure may be the inescapable attendants but the human spirit is not
stifled in its pursuits by what attends to them. The ability to withstand ... Show more content on

Divinity adieu:
These metaphysics of magicians,
And necromantic books are heavenly:
The Strength of theTragedy
The play is a human tragedy for not only is Faustus tragically constituted in his boundless ambitions
but, at the same time, the play questions the effectiveness of the cultural aspirations that shape his
ambitions. Consequently, the play provides a complex interaction between the human dimensions of
the dramatic character and the ambiguities and ambivalences of the cultural situation the character is
placed in.
Yet while the play seems to offer a very basic Christian message that one should avoid temptation and
sin, and repent if one cannot avoid temptation and sin its conclusion can be interpreted as straying
from orthodox Christianity in order to conform to the structure of tragedy.
In a traditional tragic play, as pioneered by the Greeks and imitated by William Shakespeare, a hero is
brought low by an error or series of errors and realizes his or her mistake only when it is too late. In
Christianity, though, as long as a person is alive, there is always the possibility of repentance so if a
tragic hero realizes his or her mistake, he or she may still be saved even at the last moment. But
though Faustus, in the final, wrenching scene, comes to his senses and begs for a chance to repent, it is

In Recent Years, Public Sector Organizations Increasingly
In recent years, public sector organizations increasingly leverage collaboration as a means of
overcoming resource constraints and solving complex problems such as natural disaster preparation.
Collaboration offers a means of achieving synergy among the public sector, private sector, and non
governmental organizations when strategizing, preparing, and responding during times of impending
disasters. When faced with such a complex challenge, various federal, state and local agencies unite to
develop and implement an emergency response plan, outlining essential responsibilities (Perry Nigg,
1985). This paper describes the need for stakeholders along the west coast of the United States to
conduct disaster response planning collaboration to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, according to U.S. Code Title 18, it is not legal for the U.S. Army or U.S. Air Force to assist with
law enforcement activities. Thus, under disaster conditions, only the local police or state controlled
National Guard elements may conduct law enforcement and peace keeping. Stakeholder organizations
or communities may expect assistance from federal military units to respond to their policing needs,
but the federal military units must contact the local police or National Guard to respond. This can
create significant friction because of stakeholder organization or community expectations.
Second, resource management for disaster relief is another complicated friction point. Each
organizational member of the council has their own methods for managing and acquiring resources
and supplies and maintaining capacity. The aforementioned issue of authorities creates legal
considerations that organizations must rectify prior to the sharing of resources. Additionally, since
each organization may use separate methods for resource management, this could cause numerous
friction points from management philosophies to automated systems passing information. Finally, if
some communities or organizations perceive there is unfair sharing of resources, this can create
significant disruption to these communities or organizations squabble among each other.
Third and finally, communication is another major friction point that the

The Balance Sheet For Microsoft
According to Bruns (2004), the balance sheet is a financial document, which identifies a company s
assets and liabilities. By deducting asserts from liabilities, a company s net worth can be calculated to
show the value of the company. Further, it shows the financial of the company on a particular date and
it provides a snapshot of a business health at a point in time (Bond, n.d. p. 4). However, the fact that
the balance sheet is a snapshot denotes that it is only valid at the time it was created. Thus, it may not
represent a true and fair view of the company. In this essay, I will discuss different aspects of the
balance sheet for Microsoft. I will also focus on the importance of the balance sheet and the role it
carries out.
Microsoft was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen from Seattle, and incorporated in 1981
(Liquori, 2011). Being the number one software company in the world Microsoft employs about
52,000 people working full time, 21,000 in product research and development, 23,500 in sales,
marketing, and support, 2,200 in manufacturing and distribution, and 4,000 in finance and
administration. The following report will include an analysis of financial reports, income statements,
Balance sheets, and cash flow statements (Liquori, 2011).
Several companies use the balance sheet to make sound business decisions. The balance sheet is like a

Goal Throughout life we are challenged and we encounter an abundance of issues or problems that we

require a more critical and creative thinking to overcome. When it comes down to thinking to solve
problems we depend on our thinking or give some regurgitated answer that we just read. But much of
our thinking, left to itself, is biased, distorted, partial, uninformed, or downright prejudiced (TCTC,

The Effects Of Yellowstone Volcanic Complex On The World
Introduction
Yellowstone volcano is one of the most explosive, active silicic volcanic fields in the world and is
classified as a super volcano . Its Late Quaternary history, in terms of ages, sizes and frequency of
eruptions, has been well documented (Farrell et al., 2014). Understanding its properties will help us to
better understand the hazards it poses, both now and in the future. As it is protected from geothermal
energy or mineral exploration and development, Yellowstone provides a unique opportunity to
research an undisturbed major volcanic system and the temporal and spatial changes that occur
naturally (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014).
This report discusses the history of Yellowstone volcanic complex over the past 2.1 million years,
eruptive style, compositions, associated hazards and the structure of the magma chamber. In addition,
we look at areas into which research is currently occurring or should in the future, and discuss a
strategy for monitoring and forecasting of future activity.
History
Over the past 2.1 million years, three large eruptions with widespread effects have occurred in the
Yellowstone Plateau Volcanic Field (YPVF) (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014). The first of these was 2.059
Âą 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), and produced the 2450 km3 Huckleberry Ridge Tuff. The second
was at 1.285 Âą 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), producing the 280 km3 Mesa Falls Tuff and the
Henrys Fork caldera. The most recent of the three occurred 0.639 Âą 0.002

Alternative Dispute Resolution And Some Of Its Processes
Along the years, conflicts have become inevitable in our day to day activities. In resolving a dispute,
several factors have to be considered. Factors such as the nature of the conflict, the role of the parties
resolving the dispute, the rights and interests of the parties and the procedures used to resolve the
dispute. The court system is an unpleasant means of dispute resolution when it comes to civil or
domestic issues. When resolving such issues, alternative means should be consulted. The first part of
this paper will look at Alternative Dispute Resolution and some of its processes, and the public
availability and voluntary nature of alternative dispute resolution in reference to the Article 6(1) of the
European Convention on Human Rights. The second part of this paper, however, would try to advise a
client using alternative means to effectively resolve the dispute in question.
Part A
Alternative Dispute Resolution also known as ADR is a dispute resolving mechanism that was
introduced under the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987 in order to provide a cost effective and less
time consuming alternative method for individuals to resolve their dispute. This mechanism includes
any method of resolving a dispute in place of litigation going to court. ADR is a great substitute for
litigation as the high cost of litigation would not be affordable for individuals with low income.
Nevertheless, ADR is not a panacea, nor is it cost free. With the Civil Justice reforms, ADR has

How To Achieve Social Statuses In House Of Mirth, By Edith...
In the early 19th century, social class or status was everything to individuals back then. Social status
was everything to people, just by saying they were better than others. Also, by saying they were higher
statuses than one another was such a huge deal back then, which higher statues and ranks were about
how had money and who didn t. As people say history repeats itself, I believe that, for instance,
nowadays people are always trying to outdo one another. Edith Wharton expressed a variety of
different dimensions throughout House of Mirth, which included social, cultural, political, economic.
Edith Wharton elaborates a story about Lily Barton, a young lady in her mid 20 s, who is continuously
trying to achieve social statuses while dealing with other life struggles. She struggles trying to find
someone rich to marry and ends up not being able to become wealthy either. When she struggles to try
and find who she wants to marry she tends to get discourage and ends up putting herself in a serious
amount of debt that she is unable to pay back. While in debt, she has trouble sleeping, and starts
taking medicine to help with this problem. When she had enough money to pay off this debt she uses
it to her advantage and pays off all her debt, however why paying off her debts Lily was still taking
her sleeping pills and ends up over dosing, which causes her to die. After, this short summary of

Performance Championship Titles
Different Performance Championship Titles Your Dog Can Earn
For dogs to have a championship or Ch designation that is added as a prefix to their name, they must
qualify for a championship. In the past, title are earned from conformation shows, where dogs are
judged based on their breed, and how they conform to established breed types and individual breed
standards. These days, however, dogs are considered champions if they attain a high degree of
perfection in other dogs sports and performance championships.
Different kinds of performance championships for dogs
Championship titles often differ from one club to another. The American Kennel Club, for example,

Descriptive Essay On A Tridaday Morning
Wednesday Morning
It is a typical Wednesday morning, the middle of the week, and I m running late to school. It s 7:43
and most students are making a mad dash to beat the morning bell, others linger around the green
courtyard, catching up with friends, dreading going to class. I make my way through the maze of
students, and I catch my best friend, Lauren, in the stairwell at the top of A building, both on our way
to the history class we have together. We do not say a word, just share a look that says we want to go
home and we need more coffee, before we head into class.
Our class is always in chaos in the mornings. The boys compare what they have for breakfast today
and discuss last night s baseball game play by play, while the girls get together and share a bit of
gossip they heard last night and begin to make plans for the weekend. Today was no exception. Just as
the tardy bell rings, I sit in my seat at the corner of the room and notice that Kaylin, who sits behind
me, is crying. Her face is red and blotchy and she is staring at her phone. I choose to act like I do not
notice, because it must have been a rough morning and I would not want anyone bothering me if I
were in her position. Then Abbie, who sits in the desk beside Kaylin, comes in a few minutes late, also
crying. Lauren and I exchange confused glances, and I suddenly realize our teacher, Mrs. Hendrix, isn
t in the room. How strange, I think to myself, she is almost always here to greet us when we walk in

The Laptop Market Is A Thoroughly Saturated One
The laptop market is a thoroughly saturated one. The range of uses of a laptop today is quite diverse.
The low end being the Chromebook and netbooks, an ultra light and ultra portable PC. These devices
are used for surfing the web and some light word processing. Then we have the high end, being the
enthusiast laptops; Asus ROG and MSI have cornered the market in this group. They are not so
portable and are generally heavier machines, but are the best of the best for on the go hardcore
performance. This laptop, the Eluktronics P670RP, was designed for the top of that spectrum. Which

consumers to visit the site based solely on this poor presentation. There is no excuse for any company,
whose best selling product comes in just under a thousand dollars, to have such a disappointing
website. Even still amongst the amalgamation of gray and light gray, there is a reprieve. Their
products are well organized on the site and rightfully so; they had to get it right somewhere. They
offer a fairly large range of laptops for different budgets. Among their proprietary offerings, they have
some third party products as well. One might think this may be the path chosen to obtain the capital
for the Deleware based company in a market so thoroughly glutted with overseas based companies. It
begs the question, however, if more time and resources were spent on presentation and advertising
would they not show better sales? When searching for a laptop a decision must be made on the use

to just browse the internet need not select a laptop with the latest and greatest hardware. The less

Abstract This is a new optimization algorithm which mimic the behavior of mosquito to find a hole in
mosquito net, if any. Both the flying and sliding motion of the mosquito have been modelled and
incorporated in the algorithm. The algorithm was tested for global minima on different type of
benchmark functions of various dimension and modality. Namely Gramacy Lee, Ackley, Rastrigin,
Rosenbrock, Griewank and Schwefel functions of one, two, five, ten and thirty dimensions. The
experiment was done with thirty different seeds generated randomly for each function and dimension.
The algorithm was found to be efficient, convergent and accurate.

I: Introduction
Optimization can be defined as the search for the best possible solution(s) to a given problem. For this,
there are a number of optimization techniques both conventional and new meta heuristics. The
conventional methods are gradient based which are although quite faster in convergence, but are not
applicable for discontinuous, non differentiable and complex multimodal functions. These techniques
have limitations to find the global optima and have general tendency to stuck at local optima as they
start with a single point. Hence there are exhaustive search methods to tackle

John Edgar Wideman s Our Time a chapter from Brother and Keepers is a very interesting essay
explaining the hardships of living in a place like Homeland back in the 50 s. Wideman tells his story
through his mother, his brother Robby, and himself bringing up throughout the story the troubles he
faces as a writer. Wideman faces the issue of keeping out his own bias as he listens to the stories of his

Wideman also brings up his writing problems as he tells the story, as a way to let the reader know the
exact process that he is going through as he listens to Robby and tries to remember the conversations
with his mother. As Wideman begins his interview with his brother he questions to himself how he
will be able to leave out his view of the story so that he does not turn the final story into a one that just
explains how he perceived his brothers interview. Wideman relates the problems that he has
communicating with Robby to his own writing; he is not sure how to face the whole situation of
speaking with his brother about personal things. The relationship that they had growing up led them to
this awkwardness, but Wideman faces these challenges and overcomes them by catching up on what
was currently going on with the family. His writing reflects this because as he questions himself in this
prose he seems to be unsure as to how he wants his story structured. Wideman is up front to his
audience about his witting issues in this prose because I believe that he wants the reader to be able to
relate. Trying to catch up with a family member you haven t talked to in so many years can be like

Persuasive Essay On Monuments And Memorials
Monuments, are how we as people can relive the past and be able to put ourselves at that time period.
For Americans the 9/11 memorial puts us in the gravity and it gives us the impact of what that disaster
did but, it also shows a sense of beauty with how the water falls into the spot where once stood a tall
and powerful building. Monuments, have the aura that has a sense of empathy and shows more
emotion than words ever could, the Holocaust museum gives a solid reminder of what genocide really
is. Monuments and memorials should be based on the size location and what it is actually standing for
it should be for someone who has been influential or it should be something of war or tragedy. We as
Americans don t pay attention to local cemeteries but when they see the Arlington cemetery or
Vietnam memorial or even the WWII memorial people understand what death is really like and are
more appreciative of those people who fought for the United States. Monuments and Memorials are
not to remember those who fought for slavery, who have committed genocide, or any acts of treason
and terrorism there should be no reason to make a statue that symbolizes something that a culture and
a nation does not stand for anymore. Therefore, a Monument should consider the location, size, and
why the monument is built along with the emotional aura that goes along with it.
Monuments should be be put in a location where it is a hub or if the person or event was in fact there.

Sexual selection in fish inhabiting great lakes
Sexual selection can best be described by the definition given by Darwin himself. Sexual selection is
the advantage which certain individuals have over other individuals of the same species solely in
respect of reproduction (Hosken et al, 2011). Sexual selection occurs throughout the animal kingdom,
where male frogs dominate through the depth of their croak, and certain peacocks reign superior based
on the colour and intricate detail on their tails. They remain superior to their lesser counterparts as
they bear more admirable characteristics, from which they are chosen by females of the same species.
Intersexual selection describes one sex (commonly females) choosing male partners for copulation.
Females tend to choose the males based on secondary sexual characteristics. Intrasexual selection, on
the other hand, is competition within the same sex, in the hope of gaining access to the other sex for
reproduction (Eberhard, 1996). It is commonly male species competing against each other for female
partners. These two forms of sexual selection results in more developed offspring, as the fitter male
will out compete other males and also is more likely to be chosen be

that Black Africa had no history before European colonization. Whites foster the image of Africa as a

Islam contributed the Arabic script and language to the Sudanic empires, which became known as
centers of learning and culture. The invasion of Ghana by the Muslems along with a disastrous series
of droughts that dried up the vital Bagana and Wagadu Rivers helped to plunge the empire into
economic decline; and it became easy prey for hordes of conquerors who completed its destruction by
the thirteenth century.
After the fall of Ghana, a Black state called Mali became the successor power in West Africa. The
king of Mali formed alliances with other Islamic rulers, and this military and religious strength made
him the most powerful ruler in Africa. Mali was founded by the Mande people of the upper Niger

Mali empire had achieved greater wealth and power than Ghana. Civil warfare, attacks from Mossi

Nawal El Saadawi
The Oppression of More Than 50% of the World s Population There is no doubt that without women,
mankind would not be able to survive in this world. Therefore, women deserve to be held in the
highest of esteems and treated like queens in this kingdom called earth. However, men are simply too
prideful and aim to oppress anyone they see as weaker than them in any means. The author, Nawal El
Saadawi, criticizes the abusive and subjugating nature of man, more specifically in Egypt. In a country
with a degraded economy, a skewed view of religion, and a patrimonial culture, tyranny is magnified.
In the creative non fiction, Women at Point Zero, Nawal El Saadawi utilizes various symbols to
support her criticizing tone towards the oppression felt by women and people of a lower socio
economic class in Egypt. One way El Saadawi illustrates her criticizing tone towards oppression is
through the symbol of money. In the novel, money surpasses it s ... Show more content on

With money, she describes how money leads to women being dependent on men which leads to their
oppression. In a Society like Egypt s, in which the traditional role of a women is to cook, clean, and
please the man, there is no room for earning money. This leads women to believe they wouldn t be
able to survive without the influence of men and men naturally take advantage of that. This then leads
to the oppression of women, ironically, through food. Even though they are the ones that prepare it,
they aren t allowed to fill themselves. The man requires food as rent for protection and so the women
can t indulge herself in her creation. The food, a source of power, is snatched away from women and
also used as a method of oppression due the watchful gaze of the stingy husband. To close, men find
various ways to oppress women and Nawaal El Saadawi criticizes them through the use of food as a

A Social Psychological View of the Help
The movie, The Help, is based on the book written by Kathryn Stockett. It was released in 2011 and
directed by Tate Taylor (Taylor, 2017). The Help is set in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960 s, and it is
about the experiences black women had as maids for white families. These women decided to risk it
all and tell their stories in an effort to show what is was really like for them (Taylor, 2011). The Help
illustrates how these women fought racism and prejudice by becoming unified with one another. This
paper will address how prejudice, discrimination, stereotyping, and inequality affect the characters and
their relationships in the story.

When she knocked on the door, the women at bridge club unsuccessfully hid from her. When she went
to the window, she spotted a few of them and at first did not understand that they were hiding from
her. She slowly realized they were trying to avoid her. When she got back home she told Minny, They
made me stand there like I was the vacuum salesman (Taylor, 2011). This is just one example in the
movie of prejudice that is bordering on discrimination.
Discrimination
Aside from being prejudice toward anyone different from herself, Hilly Holbrook also exemplified
discrimination in the story. Discrimination is similar to prejudice, but it is defined as behavior directed
against persons because of their membership in a particular group (Kassin, Fein, Markus, 2014). Hilly
was prejudice toward Celia, mainly through her own negative beliefs about her. She did not
demonstrate many acts of discrimination toward Celia, but she did when it came to the maids.
In the beginning of the movie, she was shown in her bathroom marking the toilet paper with a pencil
(Taylor, 2011). That was her way of making sure that her maid, which was Minny at the time, did not
use their bathroom inside of the house. She had a separate outhouse for Minny to use. Hilly was also a
member of the White Citizens Council. She developed a Home Help Sanitation Initiative, which
promoted a law that would require every home in the state to have a separate bathroom

Abby Wambach s Role In Baseball
When one thinks of the face of United States Soccer, Landon Donovan always came to mind,
however, the true face of the game in the U.S., Abby Wambach, is calling it a career after her final
game in New Orleans against China Wednesday night. Over her career with the National team she
scored 184 goals. That is the most in international competition, according to USA Today. The 35 year
old has carried the U.S. Women s National Team for a long time, and until recently, was the clear
threat to score at anytime. However, she knows that it is time to move aside and let the next group of

emotional and be a special send off for one of the sports most famous players. Abby Wambach is not
going to retire and call it a good life. She is already to start on the next chapter of her life. She is
focused on becoming an advocate for greater equality. Women in both sports and the workplace, and
minority groups find limited opportunities, and she wants to change that. She said U.S. soccer has
been great, one of the few leaders out there, but the fact that women in general make less money and
have fewer opportunities must change. She is going to work to male that change happen. If Wambach
has even half the success in the next part of her career as she did on the soccer pitch, the world had

Importance of Human Resource Department
The importance of the Human Resource Department by Ng Hui Chen, GSM
Employee is one of the most important assets of a company as they have significant influential power
to the success of a company. Therefore, effective and efficient human resource management is crucial
to every organization. However, the emergence of the centralized Human Resource Department
(HRD) has created conflicts on whether the responsibility of human resource management should lie
on line managers or HRD. The debate about the roles of line managers and centralized HRD in human
resource management has been ongoing since couple of years ago (Hutchinson and Purcell, 2003). In

HRD can step in to investigate and change the line manager s decision.
According to Amit Bhagaria, 2010, some unscrupulous companies will run roughshod over the rights
of their employees. With HRD to review and evaluate the HR policies all the times, they will ensure
the rights of the employees are always secured. HR personnel are also the staff of the companies.
Certainly, they wouldn t allow the company to run roughshod over their rights as well! In this way,
they have helped to improve the general staff s well being. When the staff feels positive about the
company, they will improve productivity and are also more likely to stay with the company longer.
HRD can serve as the channel of assistance or complaints to staff. Some of the human resource issues
need to be tackled by third party like HRD other than the line manager. For example, a staff might
decide to leave the company when the line manager declines his/her request of transfer. Staff might be
retained in the company with the assistance of HRD. Apart from that, staff can also file their
complaints to HRD when there are unfair treatments by line managers. Besides, HRD can assist to
conduct the exit interview for staff that are leaving the company. Staffs tend to more reserve in the exit
interview conducted by line manager if the reason of resignation is due to that line manager. Hence,

lack of sales or interest in other forms of entertainment. Music has always existed; just because it is

The history of making and selling music as an industry is extremely short in comparison to the entire

The Importance of Education Essay
The Importance of Education
Education has always been a crucial part of society for the past centuries. Some believe that our
education is a privilege. Some believe that our education is a right. Some believe that our education is
an obligation. The only obligation we might have towards education is to treat it as a privilege as well
as a right, but certainly not an obligation to have an education. Education has been the basis for the
success we see in our parents, our teachers, and more importantly, ourselves.
Over time, people have considered and concluded that education is a privilege. Education is a
privilege because not many people can afford an education, and we should be grateful that we have
this opportunity that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is true because you cannot be denied an education based on your nationality, skin color, hair
color, or any physical features, even being handicapped. It is the right of the individual to seek an
education, as long as the individual is fully capable financially and mentally. Let say ?Melissa,? a
fictional fourteen year old African American girl, wants to attend Hinsdale Central. A fairly good
school, if I do say so myself, for a student to attend preceding college, as I have. Let?s say Hinsdale
Central refuses to let Melissa attend their school for various reasons, such as her skin color. It?s
Melissa?s constitutional right to contest this decision by the fact that the school denied her admittance
based on her skin color, which is discrimination. However, the school does not have to admit Melissa,
even though she is completely qualified. The individual does not have the right to an education, but
rather has the right to seek and education. The individual can only have a right to an education if the
school offering the education refuses them based on physical features.
What about obligations, is an education one of them? Education can be an obligation in a personal
way, but education is certainly not an obligation to receive in the general aspect. If a person feels
obligated about their education, they are most likely not going to be motivated. Motivation comes
from the parents, the teachers, and the

A Duty Fixed By Civil Law
It has long been established that a tort occurs where there is breach of a general duty fixed by civil law
. The branch of law we know as negligence has been in development since the establishment of a duty
of care for one s neighbour in Donoghue v Stevenson . In that case, Lord Atkin laid down general
principles whereby a person would owe another a duty of care, the most important being you must
take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions which you can reasonably foresee would be likely to
injure your neighbour . This principle has been refined on a number of occasions and the current
approach for establishing a duty of care is typified in Caparo Industries plc v Dickman . Following

property . It is arguable that other losses which result from tort could possibly be described as
economic loss; however, the true definition of economic loss involves someone who has suffered
financial damage that does not result from personal injury or damage to property. In Spartan Steel
Alloys Ltd v Martin Co (Contractors) Ltd , the defendants were negligent in cutting an electric cable,
which then resulted in a 14 hour power cut in the area. This affected a number of properties including
the claimant s factory. With no power available to heat the claimant s furnace in his factory, the metal
there solidified and was ruined. The claimant was also required to shut his factory temporarily. Civil
litigation was initiated by the claimant for damage to ruined metal (which constituted physical damage
to property), loss of the profit that would have been made had that metal been sold (labelled as
economic loss arising from damage to property) and loss of profit the factory would have made had it
not been forced to close (pure economic loss). A majority of the Court of Appeal held that only the
first two heads of claim were recoverable. The defendant owed a duty of care to the claimant not to
damage their property but no duty of care was owed with regard to loss of profit. It was found that it

Why Parents Should Adopt Children Of Different Origins Are...
1. Those who want to adopt children of different origins are more open minded and in a sense already
have an idea of how they will raise their child. My perspective on the subject is that not all parents
really know what parenting will be like at first, or, if they adopt a child after having a biological child
then they need to be open to how to raise different ethnicities of them. Considering the shocking
amount of children that haven t been adopted in the world, it is quite depressing that they don t have a
home. In the future these transracial adoptions will enable people to have children to care for, but the
issues are laid out. For example, if a white parent adopts a black child, there will be questions among
those who are not very aware of transracial children. In the future though, it will become more
common. So many people have made changes in America that most people look for the soul of the
person. The physical characteristics don t always matter. However, those who want to sustain each
race are more concerned that they will ruin the uniqueness of the world. In marriages this can be an
issue, but should it really be a concern? Honestly, I don t know what the Lord wants in the world, but
he most indeed gave different characteristics to create diversity. Some people don t like diversity. But
it was made for a reason and no one can tell a person who they should and shouldn t marry or in a
child s case, adopt. I think that the demographics of people in

Charles Darwin s Life
Charles Darwin was an English naturalist, which is now known as a biologist, who is best known for

The distribution of plants and animals in the Galapagos was puzzling to Darwin; where did these
species originate from? Why don t the same species appear in similar environments? Many species
only lived on the Galapagos and sometimes, only one certain island. How did these species end up
there? There were species on the Galapagos such as insects and reptiles that resembled some species
in South America, but were also different in very slight ways. Darwin began to wonder if species
would travel to the Galapagos, and then adapt to their new environments over time. If two species
came from a common ancestor, it would make sense for them to live together. For example, Darwin s
finches he discovered on the Galapagos had differently sized beaks. These beaks would differ in size
according to the area these birds were in their appearance and behavior quickly adapted to this closed
and rapidly changing environment.

Similarities Between Roman Catholicism And Eastern Orthodoxy
Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy The Eastern Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism are
organized using a hierarchical system. Much like the ancient times in which these religions were
established, they govern from the top down with bishops or leaders having ultimate authority and then
several classifications that extend down to priest. They feel their top leaders stand in for Christ. For
Eastern Othodoxy the leader is Eccumencial Patriarch and for the Roman Catholics it is the Pope.
(VB: Polity in Catholicism and Orthodoxy) The formal principles for these two religions are the Bible
plus tradition and decress. However, Eastern Orthodoxy uses the 66 books of the Canon and
Apocrypha and the Roman Catholicism use the 66 books of the Cannon and Canonical. To them the
Bible and the tradition of worship are equally important. The material principles for these religions are
that they are saved by faith with works infused grace through the priests on the via to earn God s
glory. (The Christian Church on Earth) The worship of the Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodoxy
are both highly liturgical and ornate with icons. They have a low use of preaching in their worship
services. The teachings for these two religions include infant baptism for the remission of original sin
and the gift of faith. The Roman Catholics teach the Lord s Supper is the sacrament through

Children Of Alcoholics Growing Into Adulthood
Every generation that is born is the future of the world. We evolve as a society as one, we build each
other up for the future. The source of this extravagant outcome is people, but we cannot succeed as a
whole if there are individuals who are suffering and are in need of help. Some who need help and
guidance are children of alcoholics (COA s), they bear the time they live with their parents and they
do not receive help in the process. These children go through so many different issues with family,
school, their social, physical and mental wellbeing. Children of alcoholics growing into adulthood
have negative outcomes that can be diminished by school administration taking a stand to exhibit
attention and support to the situation. The schools can contribute tremendously by having guest
speakers to talk about the subject, and by introducing a counseling profession that can have a thorough
background, plus a program or organization that is able to connect with these children to help and
support them.
When offspring live in an emotional and unstable household, they will have many factors that
contribute to their wellbeing. By living with an alcoholic parent it will leave pressure and stress on the

Gilgamesh And Enkidu s Friendship
Gilgamesh and Enkidu s Friendship
In the Epic of Gilgamesh, friendship is a strong theme that drives the story. The bond that Gilgamesh
and Enkidu develop throughout the myth is a bond similar to that of brothers. Gilgamesh was fearless,
but arrogant and Enkidu was created by the gods specifically to keep the legacy crazed Gilgamesh in
check and to teach him humility; Enkidu becomes his conscience of sorts. Gilgamesh was oppressing
the people of Uruk and Enkidu and needed to put a stop to it by confronting and fighting him. From
what initially started as a violent encounter, their relationship bloomed into something that neither of
them could have expected. Their connection really takes off after their encounter with the giant
Hambaba and seals the deal on their friendship. They become basically inseparable and after Enkidu
passed it completely rocked Gilgamesh because he had lost a huge part of his life. Gilgamesh and
Enkidu s eventual bond is the perfect example of checks and balances within life making this oldest
hero s tale still very relevant today.
Gilgamesh was the son of the goddess Ninsun and the former King of Uruk Lugalbanda, this made
him one third man and two thirds god. He was created by Nintu, who is the great Mother Goddess, out
of clay. Many other gods had given him other qualities during his creation like beauty, courage, and
wisdom. Gilgamesh lived without any fear and did whatever he pleased even if it meant hurting
others. His behavior was so unruly

The Effects Of Stress On College Students
Many students in college can deal with large amounts of stress in their educational careers. Handling
stress poorly is a normal behavior in a multitude of students at college is an overwhelming workload
for many; however, stress can be managed in a healthier way than many do handle it. Stress is caused
by an onslaught of assignments all at once or multiple tests in the same day. Lack of sleep and
drowsiness in class is caused by stress; however, this will just further the stress because the student
will not be paying attention in class. The problem is stress is so regularly handled in the wrong way,
such as drinking, putting off the work, and late nights trying to finish procrastinated work. Stress;
however, will be managed healthier by not procrastinating, using herbal stress relieving techniques,

assignments, then the overall work load that they feel is put on them is not as corpulent. Frequently
scholars feel as if their tasks at hand become too bothersome, they let them pile up. Procrastination
can overall just end up leading to more stress, and all nighters leading to a very unhealthy cyclical

Hamlet And Laertes By William Shakespeare
Hamlet and Laertes
William Shakespeare s Hamlet is one of his excellent tragedies which explores the difference between
themes such as love and revenge or the complexities of life and death. In Shakespeare s play, Hamlet
and Laertes show some comparisons and contrasts which give an abundance of interest to the play. In
fact, Hamlet and Laertes display impulsive reactions when angered; both have fathers killed, and both
are seeking revenge. Even so, both characters display a considerable likeness, which is trying to
protect the same person, Ophelia. It is important to realize that both loved her, but in different ways.
On the other hand, Hamlet had a lovely mother who was the Queen and Laertes never had a mother
figure in his life (Shmoop web).
One of those Hamlet s characteristics revealed in the play depicts him as an individual who was not
naturally vengeful, but he was loyal to his father. Therefore, he swore an oath to his father to seek
revenge. Also, Hamlet did not want to endanger his friends into the dangerous mission of seeking
revenge against the new King, so he urged his friends to shake hands and become part of it, swearing
in faith. He was not sure if the ghost was really his father rather than a deceitful demon (Hamlet

knowing that his uncle killed his father in cold blood. As a result, Hamlet s scorn of the new king

parliament and council, just like the co decision procedure, but in this case it is the council that must
take responsibility for consulting with parliament as well as other EU bodies. In all cases, parliament
can:
Approve the proposal made by the commission
Reject the proposal
They can also ask for amendments to be made
Assent This is the method of making decisions in which the council must obtain the European
parliaments agreement before decisions are made. This procedure is exactly the same as the
consultation procedure, apart from the fact that the parliament cannot amend the proposal: It must
either be accepted or rejected.
EU s decisions affecting UK Public Services
These are some of the EU s decisions which affect the UK s public services:
Single currency In 1999 the European Union introduced a single currency. This is called the euro. The
euro became the legal currency of 11 EU states; however, the UK and Denmark opted out. Of the 27
EU members, 16 of them have the euro as

R. Vs. Pushpanathan
The subsequent paragraphs in this document contain a detailed analysis of the case R. v. Pushpanathan
with regards to how each of the following schools of philosophy would rule in the aforementioned
case: Legal Realism, Natural Law, Legal Positivism, and Critical Legal Theory. Also written within
this document are the major questions that required answers for this case and a personal ruling on
whether or not Pushpanathan should have been awarded refugee status despite his previous arrest for
conspiracy to traffic in a narcotic due to his involvement with a group in possession of heroin with a
street value of $10 million.
Legal Realism
Under the philosophy of legal realism the decision on whether or not to grant Pushpanathan refugee
status ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This belief would greatly influence the case of R. v. Pushpanathan from a moral standpoint. A judge
who is set in the philosophy of natural law would most likely deny Pushpanathan refugee status
because of the circumstances in the case. Pushpanathan s actions would never be seen as morally
correct. Had Pushpanathan carried out his plans to traffic $10 million worth of heroin he would have
caused tremendous damage to society. This damage would come in many forms such as: economic,
civilian, and property. For example, the trafficking of heroin could lead to the loss of employment for
hundreds of people which would in turn harm the economy. Trafficking heroin would also lead to the
deaths of many people due to overdose and violent confrontations over the drug, as well as thousands
of dollars in property damage caused by uncontrollable outbursts when those addicted to the drug
begin to suffer from withdrawal because they lack the means necessary to obtain any of the substance.
The action of trafficking drugs is seen by most as morally wrong because of the damage it causes to
society. From this, one can safely assume that the law that is in place to deter people from trafficking
dangerous substances such as heroin is seen as morally correct by those who reflect the values of the
natural law philosophy because it protects society from what most people see as morally wrong.
Moreover, a judge who is set in the philosophy of natural law would see the lack of morality in
Pushpanathan s actions and the moral reasoning behind the law that punishes those who traffic
dangerous substances such as heroin. From this information, the judge would likely make the decision
to deny Pushpanathan refugee

Main Differences Between Larceny And Embezzlement
In chapter 9 of Criminal Law Today, the author describes the crimes of embezzlement and explains the
main differences between larceny and embezzlement. This chapter identifies the types of property that
were subject to the common law crime of larceny. In addition, the author describes the differences
between embezzlement and false pretenses, and the differences between robbery and extortion. The
most commonly occurring crimes in the United States are the theft crimes and drug crimes. Crimes of
theft are generally property crimes. There is a variety of property crimes, such as larceny, burglary,
criminal trespass, arson, and computer crimes. Crimes of theft are also known as acquisitive offenses,
which are crimes that involve the unlawful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Forgery is the making of false written instrument or the material alteration of an existing genuine
written instrument. Forgery is only complete when the perpetrator makes or passes a false instrument.
Overall, the crime of forgery is the actual intent to defraud. The common law crime of forgery
included the act of uttering, which is the offering, passing, or attempted passing of a forged document
knowing that is forged. Receiving stolen property is another form of theft. This can be defined as
knowingly taking possession of, or control over, property that has been taken in an unlawful way.
There are four elements to the crime of receiving stolen property, which are receiving, stolen property,
the receiver knowing that it was stolen, and where the property was received. Another form of theft is
robbery. However, robbery is considered a violent personal crime by the Uniform Crime Reporting
program. Robbery is the unlawful taking of property that is in the immediate possession of another by
force or threat of force. However, robbery, can be considered another form of larceny. The crime of
robbery requires two elements, that the property be taken from a person or removed from the victim s
presence and that the taking occur through the use of force or fear. But certain situations may be
considered larceny. For example, if property was stolen from a dead person, the crime is no longer a
robbery but a form of

King Lear Influences
A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots
(Garvey). Garvey s allusion to a tree s roots depicts the human experience and the importance of
understanding our past. Everyone sees the tree (plays), but not necessarily the roots (the background
story ) that make these works classic. These influences define the works, affecting them in ways
unseen to the human eye. The roots give the tree life. William Shakespeare utilizes numerous
influences to make his plays unique. He employs many Elizabethan Era themes, characterization
techniques, and culture in his writing. All of these impacted his life in the late 1500s and provided
both underlying main points and details for his plays. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience already has an idea of the history behind the plays, and this affects how people view the
characters and what judgements they have before they even watch the plays with conflicts such as
male v. female, old v. young, and many others. Shakespeare has an even amount of his strongest/main
characters being both male and female, but this does not mean he does not use gender roles to make
the stories more believable. In King Lear, Shakespeare, through Lear, is supporting these roles by
saying: suspend thy purpose if thou didst intend/to make this creature fruitful (King Lear 1.4.289 290),
and is indicating that the woman s only job is to give birth, and so the worst curse for them would be
to get rid of the one thing they are actually meant to do. But, Shakespeare has many examples of
breaking the gender norms, and Antony and Cleopatra is arguably Shakespeare s most gender
redefining play (Moss, Antony and Cleopatra 296). In one of the opening scenes, Caesar states, the
lamps of night in revel, is not more manlike/Than Cleopatra, nor the queen of Ptolemy/ More
womanly than he (Antony and Cleopatra 1.4.5 7), which shows that women are supposed to be
womanly, but Egypt s ideals are backwards. While in Egypt it is fine, in Rome, Antony would be
mocked. Antony and Cleopatra also spends time defining two types of women, if beauty, flashiness,
and riggishness do not settle, /Wisdom and modesty can harbour /The heart of Antony, Octavia is/A
blessèd lottery to him (Antony and Cleopatra 2.2.265 266, 274 276). Both women are represented
here, Cleopatra as beautiful and ambitious, while Octavia is more obedient, wise and modest, but
Shakespeare or his characters never state which is better, but rather they are both equal in different
senses. The generation problem is also evident in Shakespeare s plays, especially in King Lear. Lear is
old, and his first daughter

Tutankhamen Case Study
In Chapter three, Carnarvon and Carter find the tomb of Tutankhamen. It takes a total of six seasons to
finish the excavation due to complications other than the site itself. These complications including
workers that were untrustworthy, the government implementing new rules, newspapers fighting over
who gets the story first, and natives upset with the foreigners excavating the site. Carter decided it was
best to narrow it down to just one journalist to exclusively report the site, he chose the Times, which
didn t go over well with other reporters. A few years later he decided to add a local paper that could
report new news about the excavation the following day. In previous chapters there were issues of
incorrect documentation of artifacts.

  • 2. Dr Faustus as a Tragedy Q.1. Discuss Dr Faustus as a tragedy. Tragedy Definition Aristotle defines a tragedy as a representation of an action which is important, complete and limited in length. It is enacted not recited and by arousing pity and fear, it gives an outlet to emotions of this type. However, for the Elizabethans, more specifically for Marlowe and Shakespeare, tragedy is not a restrictive view of human excellence or weakness as the Greeks are often inclined to present but an affirmative view of human aspirations whose pursuit brings a glory to the definition of a man. Struggle, conflict, suffering and failure may be the inescapable attendants but the human spirit is not stifled in its pursuits by what attends to them. The ability to withstand ... Divinity adieu: These metaphysics of magicians, And necromantic books are heavenly: The Strength of theTragedy The play is a human tragedy for not only is Faustus tragically constituted in his boundless ambitions but, at the same time, the play questions the effectiveness of the cultural aspirations that shape his ambitions. Consequently, the play provides a complex interaction between the human dimensions of the dramatic character and the ambiguities and ambivalences of the cultural situation the character is placed in. Yet while the play seems to offer a very basic Christian message that one should avoid temptation and sin, and repent if one cannot avoid temptation and sin its conclusion can be interpreted as straying from orthodox Christianity in order to conform to the structure of tragedy. In a traditional tragic play, as pioneered by the Greeks and imitated by William Shakespeare, a hero is brought low by an error or series of errors and realizes his or her mistake only when it is too late. In Christianity, though, as long as a person is alive, there is always the possibility of repentance so if a tragic hero realizes his or her mistake, he or she may still be saved even at the last moment. But though Faustus, in the final, wrenching scene, comes to his senses and begs for a chance to repent, it is too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Recent Years, Public Sector Organizations Increasingly In recent years, public sector organizations increasingly leverage collaboration as a means of overcoming resource constraints and solving complex problems such as natural disaster preparation. Collaboration offers a means of achieving synergy among the public sector, private sector, and non governmental organizations when strategizing, preparing, and responding during times of impending disasters. When faced with such a complex challenge, various federal, state and local agencies unite to develop and implement an emergency response plan, outlining essential responsibilities (Perry Nigg, 1985). Also, according to U.S. Code Title 18, it is not legal for the U.S. Army or U.S. Air Force to assist with law enforcement activities. Thus, under disaster conditions, only the local police or state controlled National Guard elements may conduct law enforcement and peace keeping. Stakeholder organizations or communities may expect assistance from federal military units to respond to their policing needs, but the federal military units must contact the local police or National Guard to respond. This can create significant friction because of stakeholder organization or community expectations. Second, resource management for disaster relief is another complicated friction point. Each organizational member of the council has their own methods for managing and acquiring resources and supplies and maintaining capacity. The aforementioned issue of authorities creates legal considerations that organizations must rectify prior to the sharing of resources. Additionally, since each organization may use separate methods for resource management, this could cause numerous friction points from management philosophies to automated systems passing information. • 4. The Balance Sheet For Microsoft According to Bruns (2004), the balance sheet is a financial document, which identifies a company s assets and liabilities. By deducting asserts from liabilities, a company s net worth can be calculated to show the value of the company. Further, it shows the financial of the company on a particular date and it provides a snapshot of a business health at a point in time (Bond, n.d. p. 4). However, the fact that the balance sheet is a snapshot denotes that it is only valid at the time it was created. Thus, it may not represent a true and fair view of the company. In this essay, I will discuss different aspects of the balance sheet for Microsoft. I will also focus on the importance of the balance sheet and the role it carries out. Microsoft was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen from Seattle, and incorporated in 1981 (Liquori, 2011). Being the number one software company in the world Microsoft employs about 52,000 people working full time, 21,000 in product research and development, 23,500 in sales, marketing, and support, 2,200 in manufacturing and distribution, and 4,000 in finance and administration. The following report will include an analysis of financial reports, income statements, Balance sheets, and cash flow statements (Liquori, 2011). Several companies use the balance sheet to make sound business decisions. Some problems that can be resolved effortlessly and efficiently but other obstacles may require a more critical and creative thinking to overcome. When it comes down to thinking to solve problems we depend on our thinking or give some regurgitated answer that we just read. • 6. The Effects Of Yellowstone Volcanic Complex On The World Introduction Yellowstone volcano is one of the most explosive, active silicic volcanic fields in the world and is classified as a super volcano . Its Late Quaternary history, in terms of ages, sizes and frequency of eruptions, has been well documented (Farrell et al., 2014). Understanding its properties will help us to better understand the hazards it poses, both now and in the future. As it is protected from geothermal energy or mineral exploration and development, Yellowstone provides a unique opportunity to research an undisturbed major volcanic system and the temporal and spatial changes that occur naturally (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014). This report discusses the history of Yellowstone volcanic complex over the past 2.1 million years, eruptive style, compositions, associated hazards and the structure of the magma chamber. In addition, we look at areas into which research is currently occurring or should in the future, and discuss a strategy for monitoring and forecasting of future activity. History Over the past 2.1 million years, three large eruptions with widespread effects have occurred in the Yellowstone Plateau Volcanic Field (YPVF) (Hurwitz Lowenstern, 2014). The first of these was 2.059 Âą 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), and produced the 2450 km3 Huckleberry Ridge Tuff. The second was at 1.285 Âą 0.004 Ma (Lanphere et al., 2002), producing the 280 km3 Mesa Falls Tuff and the Henrys Fork caldera. The most recent of the three occurred 0.639 Âą 0.002 ... Factors such as the nature of the conflict, the role of the parties resolving the dispute, the rights and interests of the parties and the procedures used to resolve the dispute. The court system is an unpleasant means of dispute resolution when it comes to civil or domestic issues. When resolving such issues, alternative means should be consulted. The first part of this paper will look at Alternative Dispute Resolution and some of its processes, and the public availability and voluntary nature of alternative dispute resolution in reference to the Article 6(1) of the European Convention on Human Rights. The second part of this paper, however, would try to advise a client using alternative means to effectively resolve the dispute in question. Part A Alternative Dispute Resolution also known as ADR is a dispute resolving mechanism that was introduced under the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987 in order to provide a cost effective and less time consuming alternative method for individuals to resolve their dispute. This mechanism includes any method of resolving a dispute in place of litigation going to court. ADR is a great substitute for litigation as the high cost of litigation would not be affordable for individuals with low income. Nevertheless, ADR is not a panacea, nor is it cost free. Social status was everything to people, just by saying they were better than others. Also, by saying they were higher statuses than one another was such a huge deal back then, which higher statues and ranks were about how had money and who didn t. It s 7:43 and most students are making a mad dash to beat the morning bell, others linger around the green courtyard, catching up with friends, dreading going to class. I make my way through the maze of students, and I catch my best friend, Lauren, in the stairwell at the top of A building, both on our way to the history class we have together. We do not say a word, just share a look that says we want to go home and we need more coffee, before we head into class. Our class is always in chaos in the mornings. The boys compare what they have for breakfast today and discuss last night s baseball game play by play, while the girls get together and share a bit of gossip they heard last night and begin to make plans for the weekend. Today was no exception. Just as the tardy bell rings, I sit in my seat at the corner of the room and notice that Kaylin, who sits behind me, is crying. Her face is red and blotchy and she is staring at her phone. I choose to act like I do not notice, because it must have been a rough morning and I would not want anyone bothering me if I were in her position. Then Abbie, who sits in the desk beside Kaylin, comes in a few minutes late, also crying. Lauren and I exchange confused glances, and I suddenly realize our teacher, Mrs. Hendrix, isn t in the room. Alauddin, Assistant Professor, Deptt. of Petroleum Studies, AMU, Aligarh, India Abstract This is a new optimization algorithm which mimic the behavior of mosquito to find a hole in mosquito net, if any. Both the flying and sliding motion of the mosquito have been modelled and incorporated in the algorithm. The algorithm was tested for global minima on different type of benchmark functions of various dimension and modality. Namely Gramacy Lee, Ackley, Rastrigin, Rosenbrock, Griewank and Schwefel functions of one, two, five, ten and thirty dimensions. The experiment was done with thirty different seeds generated randomly for each function and dimension. The algorithm was found to be efficient, convergent and accurate. Keywords Evolutionary algorithm, MFO, PSO, GA, ACO, Benchmark optimization function I: Introduction Optimization can be defined as the search for the best possible solution(s) to a given problem. For this, there are a number of optimization techniques both conventional and new meta heuristics. The conventional methods are gradient based which are although quite faster in convergence, but are not applicable for discontinuous, non differentiable and complex multimodal functions. These techniques have limitations to find the global optima and have general tendency to stuck at local optima as they start with a single point. For Americans the 9/11 memorial puts us in the gravity and it gives us the impact of what that disaster did but, it also shows a sense of beauty with how the water falls into the spot where once stood a tall and powerful building. Monuments, have the aura that has a sense of empathy and shows more emotion than words ever could, the Holocaust museum gives a solid reminder of what genocide really is. We as Americans don t pay attention to local cemeteries but when they see the Arlington cemetery or Vietnam memorial or even the WWII memorial people understand what death is really like and are more appreciative of those people who fought for the United States. Monuments and Memorials are not to remember those who fought for slavery, who have committed genocide, or any acts of treason and terrorism there should be no reason to make a statue that symbolizes something that a culture and a nation does not stand for anymore. Sexual Selection And Gender Selection Name: Chloe Mulqueen Lecturer: Grace McCormack ID: 14470708 Module: Evolutionary Biology ZO317 Sexual selection in fish inhabiting great lakes Sexual selection can best be described by the definition given by Darwin himself. Sexual selection is the advantage which certain individuals have over other individuals of the same species solely in respect of reproduction (Hosken et al, 2011). Sexual selection occurs throughout the animal kingdom, where male frogs dominate through the depth of their croak, and certain peacocks reign superior based on the colour and intricate detail on their tails. They remain superior to their lesser counterparts as they bear more admirable characteristics, from which they are chosen by females of the same species. Intersexual selection describes one sex (commonly females) choosing male partners for copulation. Females tend to choose the males based on secondary sexual characteristics. Intrasexual selection, on the other hand, is competition within the same sex, in the hope of gaining access to the other sex for reproduction (Eberhard, 1996). It is commonly male species competing against each other for female partners. These two forms of sexual selection results in more developed offspring, as the fitter male will out compete other males and also is more likely to be chosen be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In that case, Lord Atkin laid down general principles whereby a person would owe another a duty of care, the most important being you must take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions which you can reasonably foresee would be likely to injure your neighbour . This principle has been refined on a number of occasions and the current approach for establishing a duty of care is typified in Caparo Industries plc v Dickman . Following Donoghue, a variety of cases came before the ... It is arguable that other losses which result from tort could possibly be described as economic loss; however, the true definition of economic loss involves someone who has suffered financial damage that does not result from personal injury or damage to property. In Spartan Steel Alloys Ltd v Martin Co (Contractors) Ltd , the defendants were negligent in cutting an electric cable, which then resulted in a 14 hour power cut in the area. This affected a number of properties including the claimant s factory. With no power available to heat the claimant s furnace in his factory, the metal there solidified and was ruined. The claimant was also required to shut his factory temporarily. Civil litigation was initiated by the claimant for damage to ruined metal (which constituted physical damage to property), loss of the profit that would have been made had that metal been sold (labelled as economic loss arising from damage to property) and loss of profit the factory would have made had it not been forced to close (pure economic loss). A majority of the Court of Appeal held that only the first two heads of claim were recoverable. The defendant owed a duty of care to the claimant not to damage their property but no duty of care was owed with regard to loss of profit. It was found that it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Why Parents Should Adopt Children Of Different Origins Are... 1. Those who want to adopt children of different origins are more open minded and in a sense already have an idea of how they will raise their child. My perspective on the subject is that not all parents really know what parenting will be like at first, or, if they adopt a child after having a biological child then they need to be open to how to raise different ethnicities of them. Considering the shocking amount of children that haven t been adopted in the world, it is quite depressing that they don t have a home. In the future these transracial adoptions will enable people to have children to care for, but the issues are laid out. For example, if a white parent adopts a black child, there will be questions among those who are not very aware of transracial children. In the future though, it will become more common. So many people have made changes in America that most people look for the soul of the person. The physical characteristics don t always matter. However, those who want to sustain each race are more concerned that they will ruin the uniqueness of the world. In marriages this can be an issue, but should it really be a concern? Honestly, I don t know what the Lord wants in the world, but he most indeed gave different characteristics to create diversity. Some people don t like diversity. But it was made for a reason and no one can tell a person who they should and shouldn t marry or in a child s case, adopt. I think that the demographics of people in ... Why don t the same species appear in similar environments? Many species only lived on the Galapagos and sometimes, only one certain island. How did these species end up there? There were species on the Galapagos such as insects and reptiles that resembled some species in South America, but were also different in very slight ways. Darwin began to wonder if species would travel to the Galapagos, and then adapt to their new environments over time. If two species came from a common ancestor, it would make sense for them to live together. For example, Darwin s finches he discovered on the Galapagos had differently sized beaks. These beaks would differ in size according to the area these birds were in their appearance and behavior quickly adapted to this closed and rapidly changing environment. ... Much like the ancient times in which these religions were established, they govern from the top down with bishops or leaders having ultimate authority and then several classifications that extend down to priest. The bond that Gilgamesh and Enkidu develop throughout the myth is a bond similar to that of brothers. Gilgamesh was fearless, but arrogant and Enkidu was created by the gods specifically to keep the legacy crazed Gilgamesh in check and to teach him humility; Enkidu becomes his conscience of sorts. Gilgamesh was oppressing the people of Uruk and Enkidu and needed to put a stop to it by confronting and fighting him. From what initially started as a violent encounter, their relationship bloomed into something that neither of them could have expected. Their connection really takes off after their encounter with the giant Hambaba and seals the deal on their friendship. They become basically inseparable and after Enkidu passed it completely rocked Gilgamesh because he had lost a huge part of his life. In fact, Hamlet and Laertes display impulsive reactions when angered; both have fathers killed, and both are seeking revenge. Even so, both characters display a considerable likeness, which is trying to protect the same person, Ophelia. It is important to realize that both loved her, but in different ways. On the other hand, Hamlet had a lovely mother who was the Queen and Laertes never had a mother figure in his life (Shmoop web). One of those Hamlet s characteristics revealed in the play depicts him as an individual who was not naturally vengeful, but he was loyal to his father. Therefore, he swore an oath to his father to seek revenge. Also, Hamlet did not want to endanger his friends into the dangerous mission of seeking revenge against the new King, so he urged his friends to shake hands and become part of it, swearing in faith. He was not sure if the ghost was really his father rather than a deceitful demon (Hamlet trailers). Therefore, he staged the Mousetrap to verify Claudius guilt. A judge who is set in the philosophy of natural law would most likely deny Pushpanathan refugee status because of the circumstances in the case. Pushpanathan s actions would never be seen as morally correct. Had Pushpanathan carried out his plans to traffic $10 million worth of heroin he would have caused tremendous damage to society. This damage would come in many forms such as: economic, civilian, and property. For example, the trafficking of heroin could lead to the loss of employment for hundreds of people which would in turn harm the economy. Trafficking heroin would also lead to the deaths of many people due to overdose and violent confrontations over the drug, as well as thousands of dollars in property damage caused by uncontrollable outbursts when those addicted to the drug begin to suffer from withdrawal because they lack the means necessary to obtain any of the substance. The action of trafficking drugs is seen by most as morally wrong because of the damage it causes to society. From this, one can safely assume that the law that is in place to deter people from trafficking dangerous substances such as heroin is seen as morally correct by those who reflect the values of the natural law philosophy because it protects society from what most people see as morally wrong. Moreover, a judge who is set in the philosophy of natural law would see the lack of morality in Pushpanathan s actions and the moral reasoning behind the law that punishes those who traffic dangerous substances such as heroin. In King Lear, Shakespeare, through Lear, is supporting these roles by saying: suspend thy purpose if thou didst intend/to make this creature fruitful (King Lear 1.4.289 290), and is indicating that the woman s only job is to give birth, and so the worst curse for them would be to get rid of the one thing they are actually meant to do. But, Shakespeare has many examples of breaking the gender norms, and Antony and Cleopatra is arguably Shakespeare s most gender redefining play (Moss, Antony and Cleopatra 296). In one of the opening scenes, Caesar states, the lamps of night in revel, is not more manlike/Than Cleopatra, nor the queen of Ptolemy/ More womanly than he (Antony and Cleopatra 1.4.5 7), which shows that women are supposed to be womanly, but Egypt s ideals are backwards.
