Greg Gaines Documentary
Greg Gaines is an awkward senior in high school who has an interest in making
films with his only friend, Earl Jackson, of whom he calls his coworker . Greg s
mom tells him that Rachel Kushner, a girl he used to go to Hebrew school with,
was diagnosed with leukemia. By reason of this, Mrs. Gaines forces Greg to hang
out with Rachel. They start spending more time together, until they begin to develop
a friendship. Soon after this, Rachel has chemotherapy, Earl meets her and decides
he should show her the films that he and Greg made, so they could cheer her up.
Even though Rachel adores the awful films, her illness is getting worse and worse.
Meanwhile, Greg starts to flunk several of his classes, which concerns his teachers
and parents. Later
Relationships In Pop Culture
From The Police recording Don t Stand So Close to Me in 1980 to Noah
Baumbach s film The Squid and Whale in 2005 through today with the popular
Freeform original series Pretty Little Liars, pop culture has contained dozens of
depictions of the student teacher relationship in which a younger student is
involved with a, typically, older teacher. Why have these relationships persisted in
popular culture for over four decades? The answer appears to be that audiences can
experience the excitement and drama of scandal without personal repercussions
(daily beast). Outside of the entertainment industry, relationships between people in
positions of power and their subordinates are difficult to espouse. In the case of
graduate training, most graduate students are of legal consenting age and capable
of determining their own personal relationship dynamics. These romantic
relationships between student and professor, however, are a societal taboo
whether or not they are legally permissible. Hal Sloan and his romantic association
with his student Diane is no exception. Though they are not breaking laws
institutionally or federally, it does not exempt both Hal and Diane from the
potential remonstration they are bound to face as a couple. As Hal s mentor, Chet,
suggests, Hal may be involved in a direct conflict of interest, in spite of Hal s plan
to ask the director to grade Diane s assignments rather than himself. In order to
provide sound advice and fulfill his duties as credible
Broken Promises
Broken promises
Thanks in great part to its green image British company Body Shop has prospered
in the 80s. In the 90s the firm tried to increase its world visibility linking its image
to Brazil s rainforest and approaching the Brazilian Kayapo Indians with a program
they called `Trade Not Aid. The association generated a barrage of free and
laudatory media stories about the activities of Body Shop. More recently however
this image has been bruised. Is the Body Shop social conscience just a sham?

Body Shop s much vaunted `Trade Not Aid policy with indigenous peoples is running

Of this, $100,000 went toward the purchase of a used aircraft and initial expenses.
The rest of the money was never accounted for. In 92 and 93, Gordon Roddick, Anita
s husband and BSI s executive director, brought four Body Shop country head
franchisers to the Indian communities, charging them $25,000 each. Again, the
Indians never saw any of this money.
After one of Anita Roddick s earliest visits, she announced that Body Shop would
extend the project to other Mebengokre villages. They began competing for Body
Shop s favor, which strained relations among the traditionally egalitarian culture.
Roddick and Body Shop never made good on their promise.
In the meantime, Body Shop began heavily promoting its links to the Kayapo. It
announced what it called the first ever intellectual property rights agreement.
However, the Kayapo had agreed to nothing. In 1993, a group of 30 Kayapo chiefs
were hastily called by Gordon Roddick to a meeting in BrasГlia, capital of Brazil.
The chiefs happily believed that Body Shop was at last going to make good on its
promise to expand purchases of nut oil. What they did not know was that Body Shop
had recently gotten word that the press was about to report that it had never reached
an intellectual property rights agreement with the Kayapo. The chiefs were stunned
and frustrated when it became clear that Body Shop was trying to get the chiefs to
legitimize the agreement, which still had not been negotiated.
Sampling And Shrinking In Moby Dick
Sampling and remixing is a unique way that allows young authors to use another s
format as a jumping off point for mapping their own thoughts and feelings. This
process helps to eliminate the overwhelming feeling sometimes associated with
beginning from a blank canvas (pp. 56 58). Ricardo Pitts Wiley utilized a remix
method by combining the collective intelligence of urban youths, law enforcement,
counselors, artists, lawyers, and many more to reconstruct Melville s Moby Dick
into a modern day tale conveying the trials and successes of inner city young people
(p. 60). Using a classic novel as a springboard youth of today can see that their lives,
while different, are not so unlike adventures that occurred before them. Collective

Lieutenant Selfridge s Short Story
On September 17, 1908, Lieutenant Selfridge was getting ready to ride the
Military Flyer. Later on in the day, Orville got the passenger of his plane from the
ride off and saw Selfridge waiting for his turn to ride the plane. Wilbur was by the
side of the plane, holding the wing down. He had looked at Selfridge anxiously and
thought that he might be too heavy for the planeto fly correctly. Orville had gotten on
the plane with Selfridge sitting next to him. The catapult had released and the plane
had shot off into the air. They were up gliding through the air. But suddenly the
propeller had broken in half. Then the whole plan began to shake hard. The plane had
its nose down toward earth and it plunged through the air. Lieutenant was hanging

Ch. 1: The Pay Model
Your Turn...
1. The replacement of highly paid workers with lower paid workers did not cause
Circuit City to perform so poorly. I have come to this conclusion based off of the
section, Caveat Emptor, and am confident in my response. I do feel as though the
variables were measured effectively and were useful in their research. However, just
because it was useful does not mean they were actually related. The replacement of
the highly paid workers with the lower paid workers is not necessarily the reason for
Circuit City s poor performance. Even prior to 2007, Circuit City s stock prices from

Cutting labor costs in Best Buy would have much more of an effect than it would for
the airline industry.
Review Questions
1. Differing perspectives affect our views of compensation. It does not mean the
same thing to everyone. A person s view can differ depending on whether you look
at compensation from the perspective of a member of society, a stockholder, a
manager, or an employee. Everyone is different. For example, an employee may
have a different idea of what compensation is when compared to a stockholder. An
employee may see compensation as a return in exchange between their employer
and themselves, as an entitlement for being an employee of the company, or as a
reward for a job well done. A stockholder on the other hand would have a different
point of view. Stockholders are interested in how employees are paid and some
believe that using stock to pay employees creates a sense of ownership that will
improve performance which will in turn increase stockholder wealth. Additionally,
compensation becomes a great interest to stockholders when it comes to
compensating the CEO.
2. I can definitely relate to the definition from the employees point of view. My

Movement in America. In 1955 one of the first significant events took place in the
changing of rights that black people had. This event was the Montgomery Bus
Boycott in which many black people opposed the city s policy of racial segregation
on its public bus system. The struggle lasted from December 1st, 1955 to December
20th, 1956. The deciding factor was that most black people in Montgomery agreed to
follow this act and did not ride the buses. This proved highly in favor of them as they
were the majority of bus riders, soon after, the bus companies saw a drastic drop in
the revenue, which led to the United States Supreme Court to declare that these laws
were unconstitutional. Throughout that year, Coretta and her husband Martin
participated in this event and walked to many of the places in which they needed to
go. This garnered huge worldwide attention towards the injustices that existed in
America and gained their cause much support in many others countries. These actions
did not come without resistance though as the many white supremacist groups in

There are many benefits to developing and using a performance management plan.
Having a plan in place will help to build a viable business model on the direction a
business should go. A (PM) will assist on how to concentrate on the customer and
their needs. How well an employee is able to make specific provisions for their

Goals set and met, observations made and surveys conducted, all assist in illustrating

Climate Change And Its Effect On The Environment Essay
Tying this back to climate change, it the levels of these salt marshes are affected
by the rise in seawater. However, if the cordgrass and marsh hay experience more
or less stress from higher or lower tides than they are used to, the soils within each
area will be disturbed. The higher the sea level rises, the more tides increase in
number as well as speed. If the tides speed up and become more frequent, it is
possible that this could dislodge newly planted seeds and disturb the populations
increasing rate. When flooding is heightened, the low marsh areas containing the
cordgrass will be completely submerged for longer periods of time. This will keep
them underwater longer and sheltered from light for an excessive amount of time.
If the saltmarsh is neglected from light and reproduction, the intertidal vegetation
will decrease and be negatively affected. With an increase of temperature we can
expect to see a change in the species distribution in specific areas. Plants will need
to adapt to the change in water elevation and/or water temperature. If the plants
cannot adapt they will need to move locations. The only way for these plants to
move locations would be to be physically transported by predators such as birds.
With the ingestion and digestion of these plants, the birds would be able to ingest
them at their current sit and fly to a new location. Once they have arrived at a new
location, when they have completely digested the plant, the plants will be excreted

The Consequences Of Waste In Henry Thoreau s Food
Waste
Every year the planet loses 30 percent of its food, which is an astonishing 1.4
billion tons. This issue is faced by every developing and developed countries in the
world. Food waste continues to grow at a rapid pace as population increases. The
numerous causes of food waste occur at the stages of production, processing and
retailing. Foodwasteis a highly critical issue that affects the world and many should
understand the consequences this issue has on the environment. In Henry
Thoreau s Where I Lived and What I lived For essay, depicts that living small is the
key to happiness. He became close to nature and valued it. He emphasizes that one
can change their lives and awaken to the earnest possibilities of everyday life if
they become nature. One of the main ideas in the essay is that having an excessive
amount of things does not make one happy. This can be applied to food, many
purchase more than they can consume. Thoreau wants readers to value nature and
understand how our actions will affect us in the future. This links to food waste
because more land is needed to produce food; which consequents in forests that are
killed, to produce larger amounts of food that will be wasted. One of the country s
that produces the most food and wastes the most food is the United States. A major
reason is because food is cheaper in the United States than anywhere else in the
world. Fruits and vegetables have the highest wastage rates of any food. The

The Interesting Industry of Japanese Whaling Essay
If I had one year to learn more about a topic of my choice, I would study about the
Japanese whaling industry. Although whale hunting in Japan began in the 12th
century, Japan s involvement in the whaling industry began in the 1890s. The
international whaling industry functioned normally until 1925 when the League of
Nations called for conservation measures in 1925. This eventually led to the Geneva
Convention for the Regulation of Whalingin 1931, which was ignored by Japan and
Germany. Instead, as whale catches diminished in coastal waters, Japanese whale
hunters looked to Antarctica. This started with the Japanese company Toyo Hogei
K.K. purchasing the Norwegian ship Antarctic, renaming it the Tonan Maru.

Japan joined the International Whaling Commission in 1951; however, Japan would
later be criticized by environmental organizations and anti whaling nations for making
heavy use of Article VIII of the International Convention for the Regulation of
Whaling which states that Notwithstanding anything contained in this Convention
any Contracting Government may grant to any of its nationals a special permit
authorizing that national to kill, take and treat whales for purposes of scientific
research subject to such restrictions as to number and subject to such other conditions
as the Contracting Government thinks fit, and the killing, taking, and treating of
whales in accordance with the provisions of this Article shall be exempt from the
operation of this Convention.
As the commercial viability of large competing whaling fleets was diminished due to
restrictions, six Japanese whaling companies agreed to merge into one in July 1975.
The government declared support for the new company, with Prime Minister Shintaro
Abe saying, We ask that the flame of the whaling industry will not be put out and that
you do your best to secure Japan s food supplies. The government will be doing all it
can to actively support your efforts. Eventually, the company merged with the Japan
Whaling Association and Institute of Cetacean Research to create the Institute of
Cetacean Research in 1987.
Clinton 1996 Case Study
President Clinton was able to win the presidential election of 1996 for numerous
reasons. He was reappointed to his position as the President in 1996 mainly because
of the conflict he had between Congressional Republicans headed by Newt Gingrich,
Speaker of the House of Representatives. This conflict between the two was over the
government s budget in 1995 which hurt the prospects of the Republican candidate.
Congressional Republicans had advised a budget that would impose taxcuts that was
toward the wealthy and make cuts on government programs such as Medicare in
order to balance the budget out. Clinton on the other hand made a proposition that
would cut spending in general to stabilize the budget. His proposal preserved

Miss Brill Character Analysis
An Analysis of the Characterization of Miss Brill In Miss Brill, Katherine Mansfield
utilizes Miss Brill s thoughts and actions and the surroundings to characterize Miss
Brill as a lonely character. Mansfield immediately introduces Miss Brill with a very
odd scene that shows her conversation with the fur coat. This quickly and effectively
establishes the type of person Miss Brill is. As a result, Mansfield suggests that Miss
Brill is a lonely and an abnormal person to illustrate to the audience how society
treats those who are not considered normal through the later actions of a young
couple.
Dear little thing! It was nice to feel [the fur coat] again. ... What has been happening
to me? said the sad little eyes (Mansfield 175).
This quote shows Miss Brill s loneliness. Rather than conversing with the people
around her, she decides to have a conversation with her fur coat, an inanimate object.
This contributes to the meaning of the book because this detail helps establish how
the story will continue and dictate how she and others will act, which serves as the
basis for the story s meaning.
[The old couple] did not speak. This was disappointing, for Miss Brill always looked
forward to the conversation (176).
This quote continues to reinforce the characterization of Miss Brill as a lonely
person because she does not seem to enjoy conversing with others. Instead, she
would rather observe and eavesdrop on other conversations and take joy as if it was
her own. This continues to contribute to the meaning by augmenting Miss Brill s
loneliness and implication that the old couple may not like her that much because of
her tendency to eavesdrop.
Oh, how fascinating it was! How she enjoyed it! How he loved sitting here, watching
it all! It was like a play. ... She was on the stage (177).
This quote shows again that Miss Brill takes joy in being an observer of her
surroundings. This suggests that she may be trying to distract herself from her
own loneliness because she tries to stay included and feel like she is a necessary
person who is an integral part of others daily lives. This contributes to the meaning
that society has a lack of care for these type of people because no one in the
surroundings really care

Disadvantages of online banking include the amount of time it takes to create and
authorize your account. In most cases, you will be required to visit the local branch
to sign verification papers and provide authentic identification. I must say I disagree
with the article calling this a disadvantage. It is certainly not convenient, but I would
not call it a disadvantage. The learning curve is listed as a disadvantage. Online
banking sites can be very difficult to navigate, especially for new users.
Finally, and probably the most obvious, is the issue of trust you have in your online
banking facility. How secure is the transmission of my private information? How can
I be sure the transaction went through? Who else will have access to my information?
This trust issue and skepticism of security is by far the biggest concern of potential
online banking consumers. The Ponemon Institute is dedicated to studying ethical
information management practices and research. The institute conducted a survey
this year entitled Privacy Trust Survey for Online Banking with 2,300 participants. In
the institute s research, it is found that eighty two percent of banking consumers say
identity theft is their main concern. The next two biggest concerns are telemarketing
abuse and unauthorized
Explain How Yanacocha Use A Cheap And Effective Process

Yanacocha produces about $1.3 million each year. In order to gain that amount of
money they use a cheap and effective process of extraction called cyanide heap
leach, to extract the gold laden rock known as ore that are found in the mountains.
Example In order to get ore, the first step is to use explosions to blast the
mountains since ore is found in the sedimentary rocks. The ore that has been
crushed is put in piles in massive heaps that is then sprinkled with a dilute cyanide
solution that penetrates through the pile and bonds with the flecks of gold. The
cyanide solution with gold will drain into a staging reservoir. Afterwards the gold
cyanide solution will be mixed with carbon making the gold particles bond. Then it

Defense Of Provocation In Australia
Most Australian states have abolished or dramatically reformed the defence of
provocation. Critically analyse the provocation defence and the reforms that have
recently taken place in Australian states and territories. In your analysis, consider the
recent NSW case which used the provocation defence and also battered woman
syndrome cases.
The Defence of Provocation
The defence of provocation is quickly being eroded in Australian law in several
different ways on a state to state basis. The defence of provocation allows
perpetrators to be acquitted of murder which carries a maximum sentence of life
imprisonment and instead be tried for manslaughter which carries a considerably
shorter maximum sentence. The former attorney general Rob Hulls ... Show more

Had these reforms been in place at the time of the Singh v R case, his defence would
be rejected as the deceased had not committed a serious indictable offence. These
reforms ensure that those who act out of jealousy are not provided leniency by our
judicial system, whilst ensuring that those who may otherwise act out of battered
woman syndrome are not discriminated in any way.
Similarly, the Crimes Act 1900 (ACT) Sect 13 dictates that:
(3) However, conduct of the deceased consisting of a non violent sexual advance (or
advances) towards the accused (a) is taken not to be sufficient, by itself, to be
conduct to which subsection (2) (b) applies; but (b) may be taken into account
together with other conduct of the deceased in deciding whether there has been an act
or omission to which subsection (2) applies.
The inclusion of (3) also allows for differentiation between both those who act out of
jealousy of their partner and those who are facing domestic abuse from their partner.
In QLD however, the Criminal Code 1899 (QLD) Sect 269 which details the defence
of provocation is far more relaxed in comparison to its other Australian counterparts
and in need of reform. It does not include any method of distinguishing between both
a jealous act and a reaction to domestic abuse.
Tanya Golash-Bozz Illegal Immigration Summary
Tanya Golash Boza illustrates a personal life experience about the video of a baby
who was having health issues because his mother was deported, and he kept rejecting
the bottle. Surprisingly many comments on the video expressed hate towards the
mother for being immigrant, and towards the baby for now being the orphan son of
an immigrant. Many Americans have developed hate against immigrants because the
government has created a stereotype of them as burdens and deviates. Politics and
society focus on how immigrants can affect the economy or the country s security,
creating a common feeling of contempt. Focus in the material issues has faded the

Coral Bleaching Marine Environment
The main impact that the earth is having on the marine environment is climate
change. Increasing the oceans temperature by 0.7 degrees Celsius.
What is the Impact of Coral Bleaching?
Coral bleaching is one of the visual effect of climate change. Caused by the stress put
on the coral because of the temperature of the water becoming warmer. This major
effect of climate change could lead to the death of the Coral. This has been especially
noticed on the Great Barrier Reef. Only recently the earth has witnessed severe coral
bleaching episodes all around the world.
What does stormy weather have to do with our oceans?
Scientist are beginning to believe that global warming has inflicted unpredictable
weather. Especially in tropical areas the heavier rainfall may result in physical
damage to the coral reefs, other coastal ecosystems and coastal communities.

Scientific studies have given evidence for this in the North Sea as fish have old

for example penguins Irving on the Antarctic Peninsula region may loose their
homes as a result of the sea ice reducing as a result of global warming. Not only the
penguins have issues with the reduction of sea ice but walrus too.
How can these alterations of the marine environment effect the lifestyles of animals?
The change in temperatures of the marine environment can affect the life cycle and
behaviours of the marine species. As many of the species rely on the temperature
change as a sign as reproduction. This could also effect their success in breading.
The result of climate change also has on effect of how may male and female

Alexander The Great Was Responsible For Developing
World
During the fourth century, the ancient world was rocked by a dynamic political
figure from the unlikely territory of Macedon. Alexander the Great was responsible
for developing one of the largest empires the ancient world had ever witnessed. His
military campaigns yielded major territorial gains across multiple continents, earning
him incredible authority and prestige up to his untimely death. With the Macedonian
throne newly vacant, a power vacuum developed as military elites sought to seize
control over the empire. Known as the Successors, these individuals worked to build
off of the success of Alexander and establish their own dominion over new lands. In
their time as monarchs, Alexander and the Successors were responsible for the
livelihood of numerous populations, including the Greek world. Alexander and the
Successors maintained a strictly political relationship with the Greeksas their
monarchs, taking on the responsibilities the kingship demanded.
As a political figure, the ability to win loyalty was crucial to the acquisition of
royal power. For this reason, it was necessary for Alexander and the Successors to
maintain amicable relations with their Greek citizens. A significant role Alexander
and the Successors assumed over the Greeks was military champions. During his
military quests Alexander founded numerous cities in his name, adding to his already
impressive empire. Since he was incapable of overseeing his vast kingdom by
himself, he installed satraps to

Imagine being in the Russian Revolution and comparing it to the book Julius
Caesar. How do you think you would feel? How does the Russian Revolution
compare to what happened to Julius Caesar? The Russian Revolution of 1917 had
people that would cause riots during the war. The Russian Revolution 1917 can be
compared to Julius Caesar, because of the overthrowing of the government, people
fighting over food shortages, killed most of Russias army, suffering in the economy,
and involved the collapse of an empire under Tsar Nicholas II.
As a matter of fact, the Russian Revolution of 1917 includes the overthrowing of the
government. This led to the autocracy of the Tsar s autocracy. The government
included different classes. The Russian Revolution was led by Vladimir Lenin that
overthrew the government of Alexander Kerensky. The constitutional rule was under
the new government system. The Bolsheviks was a social democracy and overthrew
the government. Food shortages played a major role in the Russian Revolution and
caused people to go on a strike because of the shortages.
During the Russian Revolution of 1917 people fought over food shortages (http:/

The Extent to Which the Principle of Sustainability Guides Land Use Policy
Development
The idea of developing in such a way that the present can meet their needs without
future generations needs being compromised is not a new one. It has been practiced
and continues to be practiced by many groups of people across the world. For
example, this principle is embedded in Aboriginal beliefs that they come from the
land, and must return to the land and so must be custodians to the land. The
Brundtland Commission, chaired by the Norwegian prime minister, brought the
concept to the foreground where the famous definition of sustainability was given.

Limits to Growth [2] is a book that tried to explain how economic expansion must
soon come to an end , because of environmental limits. Our Common Future , the
sequel to this book, starts from essentially similar understandings of the nature of the
economy environment interconnections, but draws the conclusion that growth can
and should continue, however, this growth would take a different form from past
growth, and should be sustainable.
By the start of the 1990s about three quarters of councils in England, Scotland and
Wales already had a green plan of some kind in effect or in preparation, some
explicitly recognising the need to extend to global issues such as global warming as
well as local matters. What was new in the 1990s was the degree to which central
government began to give formal support to sustainable development, and to land use
planning as a means of achieving it, in some cases producing the relevant policies and
legislation in response to international commitments. Sustainability is now one of the
UK governments key objectives. A commitment to national sustainability plans was a
key component of the UNCED agreements in 1992,
Contributions Of Pablo Neruda
Pablo Neruda. Influence of war, communism and love on his poetry
ВЁYou can cut all the flowers, but you cannot keep spring from comingВЁ
(Horden). There are two perspectives this quote can be observed from. First,
repression exerted by fascist dictators won t keep democracy from coming. Second,
even if you avoid temptations, love will make its way through. Pablo Neruda was
born in Chile but lived most of his life away from his country. Poems in which he
talks about being away from home will be constant during his life. Neruda started
writing at a very short age and continued to write until his death. He published his
first text at the age of 14. Neruda did only dedicate his life to writing, but also made

He wrote poems with the intention of recruiting people for the communist cause or
to encourage USSR soldiers during WWII. In a Love Song to Stalingrad, he
condemns the Nazi aggression to Russia and honors the brave (Neruda) men fighting
against fascism. This kind of political literature is a reaction to the events he
experienced during the Spanish Civil War and the horror caused by right
extremism ideals. His poems and speeches made his a referent of the Spanish
speaking left during the 1950 s and 1960 s. His activism and popularity among the
left made him become the Presidential Candidate of the Communist Party in Chile,
a position he declined. Politics also made Neruda, a poet, write not only poems but
also articles that defended the communist ideals. This had a great impact on his life.
First, boosting his political career, but ultimately having him killed. Neruda guided
his life and actions by what he believed was the best way to help the people live a

Neruda dedicated his life to politics and poetry and wrote about love, war and

Wasserstrom s Arguments Relating to the Unimportance of...
In this paper, I will discuss Wasserstrom s arguments relating to the unimportance of
gender and how differentiating people based on their gender promotes the harmful
ideology of sex roles. I will then present Schlafly s arguments which regard the
differences between men and women as justifiable due to the fact that these
differences are not only natural, but also practical and obligatory, and show that they
are inferior to Wasserstrom s arguments. I will argue this by elaborating on
Wassertrom s argument of how there is no such thing as natural while providing
reasons for why this is so. Firstly, Wasserstrom argues that assigning social roles to
individuals based on their sex in inherently unjust. According to him, assigning sex
roles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be described as what Engels describes a domestic slave. Furthermore,
Wasserstrom makes sure to introduce rebuttals to those who might say that a
society would not be oppressive if taught possible to have sex roles without one
being dominant. Wasserstrom replies to this statement by explaining how the sex
roles we are all familiar with assign women with the responsibility of having to
take care of children and to be the primary household maintainer. Wasserstrom
declares these types of burdens to be excessive and must be shared equally
between both men and women. Another rebuttal that Wasserstrom prepares is for
the people who might still insist that the existence of sex roles is necessary if we
were to suppose that the work load was equal for men and women. The problem
with this, according to Wasserstrom, is that any set of sex roles would suppress an
individual s unique talents and impair their ability to develop their characteristics,
capacities, and potential life plans. An example of how sex roles oppress women
in this way is how they have to take of children, as previously discussed, simply
because people believe that they can do it better. This responsibility keeps women
away from their interests and abilities. Men can easily be taught to take care of
children as well. Just because one is good at doing something does not
How Did Foreigners Influence Japan
Good morning/Afternoon, today on Channel 1707 we will be talking about how
foreigners influenced japan on todays society of japan (modern day), it all went
back to when the Japanese closed their gates and isolated the country... The shogun
of Japan isolated japan from the whole world because of the risks they saw from
the outside world. The people of Japan wanted to stay isolated so that people
would not raid them. They also did not want people to take their belief away. But
the thing was that Japan was never fully isolated because the Hollanders had
permission to visit Nagasaki one time per year for 3 months. But Japan was in
isolation from the rest of the world for a period called Edo. During this period,
Japan couldn t send anyone out of Japan for surgery because they were isolated. One
thing that made Japan isolate it self was the spread of Christianity. Many of the
European ships shipped Roman Catholic missionaries who wanted to convert to the
residents of Japan to Christianity. Between 1549 and 1587. The Shoguns became...

Media And Government Surveillance And Privacy Issues
Q4: It is getting ever easier to record anything, or everything, that you see. This opens
fascinating possibilities and alarming ones . The Economist, Nov. 16, 2013.
Media and government surveillance and privacy issues
With everybody having a smartphone, access to Internet everywhere and frequently
using other technologies to communication, there is easier to record anything and
everything you see and share it. In some ways this is a positive thing, but it could
also have severe consequences in a bad way. Wherever you go there are security
cameras recording you, e mails are under surveillance, your phone calls are being
listened to, it s said that the web camera on your PC is recording you, your bank
account are being watched. No matter what you do somebody is watching
(Overbeck, W., Belmas, G, 2014). Is it violating your privacyrights? The right to
privacy is human rights, and restrains both government and other actions to threat
the privacy of individuals (Right of Privacy, n.d.). In 2013 the global surveillance
disclosure of NSA and CIA amongst others have been a debate internationally. With
these companies watching your every move, and save important and private data
about you in their systems they are violating your right to privacy. After the USA
Freedom of Act was rejected this year in November, the U.N takes action to protect
the human right to privacy (The U.N. Acts to Protect the Human Right to Privacy,
2014, November 25). On the other hand they are
Why School Should Be Mandatory School Choice
Upon doing this research, I found new information pertaining to different types of
school choices. What surprised me the most was the fact that a Charter School can
shut its doors almost immediately if funding is not properly established and taken
care of or if the school cannot perform and produce the desired academic results by
the end of term (Shen, Y. 2011). I also found it fascinating that private schools set
their own standards, up to a point, they can hire a teacher who does not meet the
same requirements the a state mandates (Kauchak Eggen, 2014). Allowing school
choice can have an impact on every type of schooling system. However, to first
understand its affects, we must first explore what the intention of school choice is.
Having school choice creates competition among all schools and is thought to help
raise academic achievements (Lubienski, Gulosino, Weitzel, P. 2009). Just as
individuals have the freedom to choose where to shop for food, parents have options
of where to send their children for an education. Schools may create specialized
programs often found in Magnet Schools, Public Schools may have a particular
focus, Charter Schools may advertise smaller class size, and Private Schools may
go for a value driven and religious education. These focuses or programs make the
school more attractive to parents and students. For example, a child from a low
income family may not be able to attend a private school, but really wants to receive a

The Ghostly scares of the Terror Beneath The Phantom of the Opera, by Gaston
Leroux is a quite terrifying, suspenseful, and mysterious book that will definitely

horrible things inside the opera house in Paris. Many tragedies happen and everyone

the opera house who knows the real truth.
Gaston Leroux s novel starts out with a scene in the opera house. Christine Daae
was singing on the stage, and afterwards the managers were going to have a party,
because it was their last night at the opera house. Christine happens to be the
protagonist of the book. Christine fainted in the middle of her show and was

The Secession Movement Of The United States Essay
On January 11, 1861, the state of Alabama seceded from the Union. The secession
movement was characterized by a continuous development from the time of the
Wilmot Proviso until the final separation. As northern attacks on the institution of
slavery began to mount, beginning with the controversy over the admission of
Missouri as a slave state in 1819 20, proslavery extremists in Alabama and other
Southern states increasingly referred to secession as their ultimate defense to protect
their region s society and economy.( Secession , 2011) The increasing success of the
new Republican Party in the North, with its adamant opposition to the expansion of
slavery into the western territories, seemed proof to more and more Alabamians of
the northern intention to reduce southerners to second class citizenship in the Union.
Essentially all Alabama voters, across the entire political spectrum, believed that the
territories were the common property of all Americans, and therefore that all
Americans should be able to go there and take their personal property, including
slaves, with them. The state s wealthy planters considered slavery essential to their
economy. The Republican nominee, Abraham Lincoln, whose party did not exist in
Alabama or most of the South and who consequently was not a candidate there,
carried every free state, thus finally providing southerners with unarguable proof that
the North was determined to deny their constitutional right to settle in the territories

industry is yet to fully embrace the new internet technology. Four, there has been
numerous entry of major firms that have brought imbalanced competition in the

Valued stylists adapt to new trends instead of resisting them. They are constantly

Evaluate methods used by the psychodynamic approach.
One of the methods used by the psychodynamic approach is case studies. Case
studies are used to practice their therapy on to see if it actually works. The therapy
created by Sigmund Freud, is called psychoanalysis. An example of one of the case
studies would be the case study of Little Hans. Hans was at the age where he
noticed he had a penis and therefore played with it a lot. His mother noticed this and
told him to stop it otherwise she would call the doctor and get him to cut it off. Hans
later on developed a phobia of horses, so his father got in touch with Freud and told

Secondary elaboration occurs when the unconscious mind strings together wish
fulfilling images in a logical order of events, further obscuring the latent content.
According to Freud this is why the manifest content of dreams can be in the form of
believable events.
On 24 July 1895, Freud had his own dream that was to form the basis of his theory.
He had been worried about a patient, Irma, who was not doing as well in treatment
as he had hoped. Freud in blamed himself for this, and was feeling guilty. Freud
dreamed that he met Irma at a party and examined her. He then saw a chemical
formula for a drug that another doctor had given Irma flash before his eyes and
realised that her condition was caused by a dirty syringe used by the other doctor.
Freud was no longer guilty. Freud interpreted this dream as wish fulfilment. He had
wished that Irma s poor condition was not his fault and the dream had fulfilled this
wish by informing him that another doctor was at fault. Based on this dream, Freud
went on to propose that a major function of dreams was the fulfilment of wishes.
Another method used in psychoanalysis is free association. Free Association or the
Talking Cure is based on the psychodynamic model of abnormality. Psychotherapy
places great significance on childhood experiences, such as the psychosexual stages,
and on repressed impulses and unresolved conflicts in the unconscious. The aim of

These individuals teamed up in writing the article, Team Cognition: Development and
Evolution in Software Project Teams. The authors cite that team buildingis critical in
overcoming time challenges and resource coordination. Additionally, owing to the
characteristics of diverse software development projects being unstructured and
sophisticated, it is significant to implement teamwork within such endeavors (He,
Brian and William, 2010). Various software developments require the implementation
of dissimilar amounts of knowledge. This deems the implementation of an individual
s knowledge appears to be insufficient in the accomplishment of such objectives.
The authors of the article consider a team to be an association of two or more
individuals working together towards the achievement of a set objective. The authors
highlight the power of team cognition in envisaging the likelihood of team
effectiveness. However, studying team cognition has been marred significantly by
conceptualizing and determining its constructs (He, Brian and William, 2010). Team
cognition study is complex, owing to the diversity of the tasks and the involved
environmental factors. As such, two aspects of team cognition include awareness of
expertise location and shared task understandings are critical. Individuals within a
team ought to be conscious of the members capabilities and clearly comprehend their
various tasks in accomplishing set objectives.

TRAVEL ARTICLE STREET FOOD IN LUCKNOW
Lucknow, the land of Nawabs and Kebabs we have heard this phrase about a
million times from people around us . I visited Lucknow last month and seriously
there is much more to Lucknow other than the Kebabs. Lucknow has evolved
drastically with time. It is one of the largest and fastest growing cities in Northern
India with a population of 2.81 million people belonging to different cultures and
religions. People from various regions have migrated to this big city with the dream
of a better life. The cuisine of Lucknow is a reflection of this. There is 100% no
doubt that there is no match to the Kababs and Mutton Biryani of Tunday Kababi or
the Chai and Samosas of Sharma Tea Stall . But for the past decade this City has
seen growth of some innovative Street food stalls which are challenging the
dominance of various food brands in Lucknow. These food stalls are cateringto all
the sections I.e from foodies to health freaks at very pocket friendly rates . They
are serving comfort food with a twist . These food stalls have become a rave
among the masses. I started my search for some amazing but lesser known Street
food stalls in Lucknow with the help of my localite friend Gunjan. The first thing
we tried was the tea from Raju ki Tapri outside the Charbagh Railway station (near
gate number 2) and let me tell you the chai here is amazing, Raju serves about ten
flavors of chai using ayurvedic herbs like Tulsi ,

IGN Entertainment called it, Inspirational, Gripping, and Entertaining. The Movie
Guide summarized it as an entertaining, morality lesson. Six years later, Coach
Carter still captivates the minds of audiences as the frontrunner of underdog movies
and joining the top tier of movies. Winning 3 awards and receiving 10 nominations
for best director, lead actor, and best female breakthrough performance, was an
incredible tale that touched the audience s emotions and evoked the feeling of the
victims and heroes of the story as their kinsfolk. The award winning movie has an
ability to stimulate the audience through a unique, original message; unpredictable

The regulations were the initial steps of Coach Carter s disciplinary actions. Although
moving further down the season, the community witnessed the success through his
rules and finally supported Coach Carter as he led the Richmond High School
Varsity Basketball Team to their conference championship game. These basketball
players made such a dramatic change during the movie that by the end colleges
believed that these student athletes would positively contribute and complement
their campuses. These downtrodden players became not only physically, but
intellectually strong to acquire the skill to articulate their ideas in very intricate
and profound quotes. For example while at study hall Timo Cruz, a shooting guard
announced this quote, Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest
fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that
most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing
enlightened about shrinking so that other people won t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine as children do. It s not just in some of us; it is in
everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence
automatically liberates others. (Coach Carter) Originally Cruz was deeply confused

The Pros And Cons Of South Korea And Japan
South Korea and Japan currently do not have any trade agreements in place and many
observers attribute this to the political and ideological disputes between the two
countries over territories, historical events, and security concerns. However, there
have been attempts to foster economic cooperation such as the South KoreaJapan Free
Trade Agreement Joint Study Group Project in October 2003, and the South Korea
Japan Economic Partnership Agreement in April 2008 (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Japan). Since then, these attempts have gone through a turbulent journey with
negotiations halting and resuming with no fruition of a signed agreement.
Grieco states that the key interest of states is not about individual well being, but
survival and security at their core interest. A problem that will inhibit cooperation
between states is the uncertainty of one state about another state s future intention.
As such, states pay close attention to how cooperation might affective their relative
capabilities in the future, and the possibility of a more power potential adversary
(Grieco, 1988). South Korea and Japan currently have a strong economic
interdependence as we have addressed earlier in their trading relationship, it is highly
unlikely that the two countries will have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When all things considered, coupled with the current trade partnership and trading
volume between South Korea and Japan, and assuming logically that two rational
parties will only enter into an FTA for a win win situation, it is no question that it is
only a matter of time the two countries will come to terms that economic incentives
of completing an FTA will outweigh the political rifts between
The Is The Most Important Quality
When the gods wish to take vengeance on a man for his crimes they usually grant
him considerable success and a period of impunity, so that when his fortune is
reversed he will feel it all the more bitterly. Julius Caesar. Everyone wishes to be
fortunate, and that word has many differing and contradicting meanings, each suited
to one or two particular people with that set of goals in their lives. Therefore it is no
surprise that humanity has a natural tendency to be ambitious, and to strive to great
heights. While this is a beneficial trait, society as a collective whole has brainwashed
humanity to believe that ambition is the most important quality an individual can
possess. This has caused a conundrum in many great people; that even... Show more

Even though the witches may have been lying, and most definitely did not have
Macbeth and Banquo s best interests in mind, the two friends believed the
prophecy, and their belief was strengthened when Macbeth becomes Thane of
Cawdor at the request of the King Duncan. While the title was certainly prestigious
it didn t satiate Macbeth s aspirations to be great, especially now that the idea that
he would be King was planted in his mind. In order to achieve his goals he would
forego basic humanity and morality, betraying the trust of the King, the honor of
his comrades, and the sanctity of friendship. Ambition to be greater than what was
destined is what killed Macbeth, not some concept of the wrong kind of ambition.
The want or drive to be great is not inherently good nor evil, simply a desire, and
Macbeth s natural yearning to be great was spurred into overdrive with the idea that
he could actually achieve it. However what happens to many great men is that once
they stumble upon or actually accomplish their goals, they are not satisfied and must
have more. This is their downfall, their inability to be happy with what they have
achieved, their ambition to have or be more that what they feasibly can have or be,
this is what causes the greatest of men to fall. According to an article on Forbes.com
by Steve Forbes and John Prevas, Left unchecked, ambition can cross the line,
mutating into arrogance and avarice, two of the most destructive
Testing Of Newborn Essay
What tests are performed on all newborns in the US? Soon after birth, all babies
born in the United States will check for a specific disease. This is called newborn
screening. All infants look healthy because they can see from just a baby
emergency and screening. Finding these conditions soon after birth can prevent
severe problems such as brain damage, organ damage and even death. For example,
if the baby s body is capable of handling phenylalanine, make a test (PKU) for
phenylketonuria. Phenylalanine is a result of brain damage found in some of the
many protein rich foods and sweeteners can be built on the blood and tissues of a
baby with PKU. PKU and baby are put in a special case to avoid the diet initially.
Babies are tested for hypothyroidism means that the body does not make enough

Investigating the Effect of Temperature on the Permeability of Membranes
The permeability of membranes can be altered in several ways. From previous
preliminary work I know that reagents, for example detergents and alcohol alter the
arrangement of the phospholipids in the membrane allowing substances to leak out of
the cell. Temperature also affects the membrane. As membranes relay on protein
molecules to allow molecules to enter and leave the cell through facilitated diffusion
the temperature must not exceed the approximate temperature of 50В°C as at roughly
this temperature proteins are denatured. This is due to an increase in kinetic energy
making atoms in the protein to vibrate more; this breaks hydrogen and ionic bonds.
These proteins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

water will have a high transmission and set it to 100% and the deep colour will give a

accurate measurement than a beaker.
13.Test tube rack, to store the samples of beetroot when they are taken from the water

14.Tongs, to remove the test tubes from the water baths to minimise the risk of burns
from hot water.
Risk Assessment
Care will need to be taken when cutting lengths of beetroot with a scalpel. Beetroot
should be cut in a direction away from the body to minimise the risk of cutting
yourself. A cutting mat should be used as not to damage surfaces underneath by
cutting or stained by any of the leaked pigment as a result of cutting the beetroot.
Plastic gloves and apron may be used to avoid the staining of hands and clothes with
beetroot pigment. Care will also need to be taken when placing and removing
samples of beetroot in hot water, tongs should be used to avoid burns.

Relationships In Pop Culture From The Police recording Don t Stand So Close to Me in 1980 to Noah Baumbach s film The Squid and Whale in 2005 through today with the popular Freeform original series Pretty Little Liars, pop culture has contained dozens of depictions of the student teacher relationship in which a younger student is involved with a, typically, older teacher. Why have these relationships persisted in popular culture for over four decades? The answer appears to be that audiences can experience the excitement and drama of scandal without personal repercussions (daily beast). Outside of the entertainment industry, relationships between people in positions of power and their subordinates are difficult to espouse. In the case of graduate training, most graduate students are of legal consenting age and capable of determining their own personal relationship dynamics. These romantic relationships between student and professor, however, are a societal taboo whether or not they are legally permissible. Hal Sloan and his romantic association with his student Diane is no exception. Though they are not breaking laws institutionally or federally, it does not exempt both Hal and Diane from the potential remonstration they are bound to face as a couple. As Hal s mentor, Chet, suggests, Hal may be involved in a direct conflict of interest, in spite of Hal s plan to ask the director to grade Diane s assignments rather than himself. In the meantime, Body Shop began heavily promoting its links to the Kayapo. It announced what it called the first ever intellectual property rights agreement. However, the Kayapo had agreed to nothing. In 1993, a group of 30 Kayapo chiefs were hastily called by Gordon Roddick to a meeting in BrasГlia, capital of Brazil. What they did not know was that Body Shop had recently gotten word that the press was about to report that it had never reached an intellectual property rights agreement with the Kayapo. The chiefs were stunned and frustrated when it became clear that Body Shop was trying to get the chiefs to legitimize the agreement, which still had not been negotiated.

A person s view can differ depending on whether you look at compensation from the perspective of a member of society, a stockholder, a manager, or an employee. Everyone is different. For example, an employee may have a different idea of what compensation is when compared to a stockholder. An employee may see compensation as a return in exchange between their employer and themselves, as an entitlement for being an employee of the company, or as a reward for a job well done. A stockholder on the other hand would have a different point of view. Stockholders are interested in how employees are paid and some believe that using stock to pay employees creates a sense of ownership that will improve performance which will in turn increase stockholder wealth. If the tides speed up and become more frequent, it is possible that this could dislodge newly planted seeds and disturb the populations increasing rate. When flooding is heightened, the low marsh areas containing the cordgrass will be completely submerged for longer periods of time. Mansfield immediately introduces Miss Brill with a very odd scene that shows her conversation with the fur coat. This quickly and effectively establishes the type of person Miss Brill is. As a result, Mansfield suggests that Miss Brill is a lonely and an abnormal person to illustrate to the audience how society treats those who are not considered normal through the later actions of a young couple. Dear little thing! It was nice to feel [the fur coat] again. ... What has been happening to me? said the sad little eyes (Mansfield 175). This quote shows Miss Brill s loneliness. Rather than conversing with the people around her, she decides to have a conversation with her fur coat, an inanimate object. This contributes to the meaning of the book because this detail helps establish how the story will continue and dictate how she and others will act, which serves as the basis for the story s meaning. [The old couple] did not speak. This was disappointing, for Miss Brill always looked forward to the conversation (176). This quote continues to reinforce the characterization of Miss Brill as a lonely person because she does not seem to enjoy conversing with others. Instead, she would rather observe and eavesdrop on other conversations and take joy as if it was her own. This continues to contribute to the meaning by augmenting Miss Brill s loneliness and implication that the old couple may not like her that much because of her tendency to eavesdrop. Oh, how fascinating it was! How she enjoyed it! How he loved sitting here, watching it all! It was like a play. ... She was on the stage (177). This quote shows again that Miss Brill takes joy in being an observer of her surroundings. This suggests that she may be trying to distract herself from her own loneliness because she tries to stay included and feel like she is a necessary person who is an integral part of others daily lives. This contributes to the meaning that society has a lack of care for these type of people because no one in the surroundings really care

What was new in the 1990s was the degree to which central government began to give formal support to sustainable development, and to land use planning as a means of achieving it, in some cases producing the relevant policies and legislation in response to international commitments. Sustainability is now one of the UK governments key objectives. A commitment to national sustainability plans was a key component of the UNCED agreements in 1992,

In this paper, I will discuss Wasserstrom s arguments relating to the unimportance of gender and how differentiating people based on their gender promotes the harmful ideology of sex roles. I will then present Schlafly s arguments which regard the differences between men and women as justifiable due to the fact that these differences are not only natural, but also practical and obligatory, and show that they are inferior to Wasserstrom s arguments. I will argue this by elaborating on Wassertrom s argument of how there is no such thing as natural while providing reasons for why this is so. Firstly, Wasserstrom argues that assigning social roles to individuals based on their sex in inherently unjust. According to him, assigning sex roles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be described as what Engels describes a domestic slave. Furthermore, Wasserstrom makes sure to introduce rebuttals to those who might say that a society would not be oppressive if taught possible to have sex roles without one being dominant. Wasserstrom replies to this statement by explaining how the sex roles we are all familiar with assign women with the responsibility of having to take care of children and to be the primary household maintainer. Wasserstrom declares these types of burdens to be excessive and must be shared equally between both men and women. Another rebuttal that Wasserstrom prepares is for the people who might still insist that the existence of sex roles is necessary if we were to suppose that the work load was equal for men and women. The problem with this, according to Wasserstrom, is that any set of sex roles would suppress an individual s unique talents and impair their ability to develop their characteristics, capacities, and potential life plans. An example of how sex roles oppress women in this way is how they have to take of children, as previously discussed, simply because people believe that they can do it better. This responsibility keeps women away from their interests and abilities. Men can easily be taught to take care of children as well. Just because one is good at doing something does not

The Economist, Nov. 16, 2013. Media and government surveillance and privacy issues With everybody having a smartphone, access to Internet everywhere and frequently using other technologies to communication, there is easier to record anything and everything you see and share it. In some ways this is a positive thing, but it could also have severe consequences in a bad way. Wherever you go there are security cameras recording you, e mails are under surveillance, your phone calls are being listened to, it s said that the web camera on your PC is recording you, your bank account are being watched. No matter what you do somebody is watching (Overbeck, W., Belmas, G, 2014). Is it violating your privacyrights? The right to privacy is human rights, and restrains both government and other actions to threat the privacy of individuals (Right of Privacy, n.d.). • 32. Why School Should Be Mandatory School Choice Upon doing this research, I found new information pertaining to different types of school choices. What surprised me the most was the fact that a Charter School can shut its doors almost immediately if funding is not properly established and taken care of or if the school cannot perform and produce the desired academic results by the end of term (Shen, Y. 2011). I also found it fascinating that private schools set their own standards, up to a point, they can hire a teacher who does not meet the same requirements the a state mandates (Kauchak Eggen, 2014). Allowing school choice can have an impact on every type of schooling system. However, to first understand its affects, we must first explore what the intention of school choice is. Having school choice creates competition among all schools and is thought to help raise academic achievements (Lubienski, Gulosino, Weitzel, P. 2009). Just as individuals have the freedom to choose where to shop for food, parents have options of where to send their children for an education. Schools may create specialized programs often found in Magnet Schools, Public Schools may have a particular focus, Charter Schools may advertise smaller class size, and Private Schools may go for a value driven and religious education. These focuses or programs make the school more attractive to parents and students. For example, a child from a low income family may not be able to attend a private school, but really wants to receive a religious

He had been worried about a patient, Irma, who was not doing as well in treatment as he had hoped. Freud in blamed himself for this, and was feeling guilty. Freud dreamed that he met Irma at a party and examined her. He then saw a chemical formula for a drug that another doctor had given Irma flash before his eyes and realised that her condition was caused by a dirty syringe used by the other doctor. The award winning movie has an ability to stimulate the audience through a unique, original message; unpredictable ending; and dramatic change of characters, based on a true, riveting story. Coach... Although moving further down the season, the community witnessed the success through his rules and finally supported Coach Carter as he led the Richmond High School Varsity Basketball Team to their conference championship game. These basketball players made such a dramatic change during the movie that by the end colleges believed that these student athletes would positively contribute and complement their campuses. These downtrodden players became not only physically, but intellectually strong to acquire the skill to articulate their ideas in very intricate and profound quotes. For example while at study hall Timo Cruz, a shooting guard announced this quote, Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. (Coach Carter) Originally Cruz was deeply confused and became aware that through his

The Pros And Cons Of South Korea And Japan South Korea and Japan currently do not have any trade agreements in place and many observers attribute this to the political and ideological disputes between the two countries over territories, historical events, and security concerns. However, there have been attempts to foster economic cooperation such as the South KoreaJapan Free Trade Agreement Joint Study Group Project in October 2003, and the South Korea Japan Economic Partnership Agreement in April 2008 (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan). Since then, these attempts have gone through a turbulent journey with negotiations halting and resuming with no fruition of a signed agreement. Grieco states that the key interest of states is not about individual well being, but survival and security at their core interest. A problem that will inhibit cooperation between states is the uncertainty of one state about another state s future intention. As such, states pay close attention to how cooperation might affective their relative capabilities in the future, and the possibility of a more power potential adversary (Grieco, 1988). South Korea and Japan currently have a strong economic interdependence as we have addressed earlier in their trading relationship, it is highly unlikely that the two countries will have ... When all things considered, coupled with the current trade partnership and trading volume between South Korea and Japan, and assuming logically that two rational parties will only enter into an FTA for a win win situation, it is no question that it is only a matter of time the two countries will come to terms that economic incentives of completing an FTA will outweigh the political rifts between

The Is The Most Important Quality When the gods wish to take vengeance on a man for his crimes they usually grant him considerable success and a period of impunity, so that when his fortune is reversed he will feel it all the more bitterly. Julius Caesar. Everyone wishes to be fortunate, and that word has many differing and contradicting meanings, each suited to one or two particular people with that set of goals in their lives. Therefore it is no surprise that humanity has a natural tendency to be ambitious, and to strive to great heights. While this is a beneficial trait, society as a collective whole has brainwashed humanity to believe that ambition is the most important quality an individual can possess. This has caused a conundrum in many great people; that even... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though the witches may have been lying, and most definitely did not have Macbeth and Banquo s best interests in mind, the two friends believed the prophecy, and their belief was strengthened when Macbeth becomes Thane of Cawdor at the request of the King Duncan. While the title was certainly prestigious it didn t satiate Macbeth s aspirations to be great, especially now that the idea that he would be King was planted in his mind. In order to achieve his goals he would forego basic humanity and morality, betraying the trust of the King, the honor of his comrades, and the sanctity of friendship. Ambition to be greater than what was destined is what killed Macbeth, not some concept of the wrong kind of ambition. The want or drive to be great is not inherently good nor evil, simply a desire, and Macbeth s natural yearning to be great was spurred into overdrive with the idea that he could actually achieve it. However what happens to many great men is that once they stumble upon or actually accomplish their goals, they are not satisfied and must have more. This is their downfall, their inability to be happy with what they have achieved, their ambition to have or be more that what they feasibly can have or be, this is what causes the greatest of men to fall. According to an article on Forbes.com by Steve Forbes and John Prevas, Left unchecked, ambition can cross the line, mutating into arrogance and avarice, two of the most destructive

This is called newborn screening. All infants look healthy because they can see from just a baby emergency and screening. Finding these conditions soon after birth can prevent severe problems such as brain damage, organ damage and even death. For example, if the baby s body is capable of handling phenylalanine, make a test (PKU) for phenylketonuria. Phenylalanine is a result of brain damage found in some of the many protein rich foods and sweeteners can be built on the blood and tissues of a baby with PKU. PKU and baby are put in a special case to avoid the diet initially. Babies are tested for hypothyroidism means that the body does not make enough thyroid hormone. Hypothyroidism baby can take hormonal drugs to prevent a slowdown in growth and brain damage that can occur if not treated hypothyroidism. Also, baby with sickle cell disease are at... From previous preliminary work I know that reagents, for example detergents and alcohol alter the arrangement of the phospholipids in the membrane allowing substances to leak out of the cell. Temperature also affects the membrane. As membranes relay on protein molecules to allow molecules to enter and leave the cell through facilitated diffusion the temperature must not exceed the approximate temperature of 50В°C as at roughly this temperature proteins are denatured. This is due to an increase in kinetic energy making atoms in the protein to vibrate more; this breaks hydrogen and ionic bonds. These proteins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Risk Assessment Care will need to be taken when cutting lengths of beetroot with a scalpel. Beetroot should be cut in a direction away from the body to minimise the risk of cutting yourself. A cutting mat should be used as not to damage surfaces underneath by cutting or stained by any of the leaked pigment as a result of cutting the beetroot. Plastic gloves and apron may be used to avoid the staining of hands and clothes with beetroot pigment. Care will also need to be taken when placing and removing samples of beetroot in hot water, tongs should be used to avoid burns.
