Graduating High School Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Graduating High School" presents a unique set of challenges
that require a delicate balance between personal reflection and broader implications. Firstly, the
task demands introspection, as one must delve into personal experiences, growth, and the myriad
of emotions that come with the culmination of a significant chapter in life. This can be both a
nostalgic journey and an exercise in self-awareness, making it a delicate tightrope walk between
sentimentality and substance.
Moreover, the essay should transcend the personal realm and address universal themes that
resonate with a broader audience. This requires the writer to navigate the fine line between
individual anecdotes and relatable narratives that capture the essence of the high school
experience. Balancing the personal with the universal is a challenge in itself, as the writer must
avoid veering too far into either extreme, maintaining a cohesive and engaging narrative
throughout.
Another layer of complexity arises from the need to avoid clichГ©s and tired tropes associated
with graduation essays. Steering clear of overused phrases and predictable narratives is essential
to creating a piece that stands out. This involves a careful consideration of language and a
creative approach to storytelling that breathes fresh life into familiar experiences.
Furthermore, the essay must encapsulate the growth and learning that occurs during the high
school journey. Articulating the transformative moments, academic achievements, and personal
development requires a keen understanding of one's own experiences and the ability to
communicate these in a way that resonates with the reader. Striking a balance between humility
and pride is crucial to avoid sounding boastful or self-deprecating.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of graduating high school is a nuanced endeavor that
requires a delicate interplay of personal reflection, universal themes, creativity, and avoidance of
clichГ©s. Navigating this complexity demands a thoughtful approach to storytelling, language,
and self-awareness. As a result, the process involves a significant investment of time and effort
to produce a compelling and memorable piece.

Review Of Nicolo And Maffeo Polo
In 1260, Nicolo and Maffeo Polo set forth on their first journey to the East. After
traveling from the East to the land of the Tartar they reached the Kublai Khan
court. The Khan questioned them about the Catholic faith and asked them to
return to Europe and request the pope to send missionaries. However, when the
two explorers returned they learned that Pope Clement was dead. After that discovery
they also revealed Nicolo s wife had died while giving birth to a son, who is now in
his teenage years. After the passing of the Pope there was a long delay in naming a
new one. In 1271, Marco Poloset forth navigating across exotic lands with his father
and uncle on a journey that lasted several years. Marco Polo discovered trade and
religion that has brought the world together today. The beginning of their journey led
to them being accepted into the Kublai KhanCourt. This journey took place across
deserts, mountains, and seas in East Asia, continuing along the Silk Road, and
through regions that were unknown to the Western World. Also, they had many
encounters with creatures, plants, and humans from different cultures. Through
acceptance and service, Marco Polo was led to places far away that were rich of
gems, gold, and silk. Yet, when participating in a military conflict in 1298 he was
taken captive. Marco Polo, the son of a Venetian merchant and traveler, has become
one of the most famous European travelers because of the documentation of his
journey. Marco Polo
Critique And Analysis Of Black Skins, White Masks By...
Black Skins, White Masks Final Paper Black Skins, White Masks, is a powerful
critique and analysis of the damaging effects of colonial racism from a
psychological and political perspective. Frantz Fanon was born on a Caribbean
island called Martinique, which was under the French rule. His experience and
account of colonization brings to light the dependency and inferiority felt by the
black colonial subjects. By seeing oneself through the eyes of the colonizer, Fanon
describes the struggles of the black person with their divided perceptions of the
world and of one s self. Black Skin, White Masks is a passionate study of colonial
racism and urges the racially oppressed to take action against the injustice of
racism. Fanon, is trying to make his reader gain a clear insight into the effects of
racial oppression. Even though Black Skin s White Masks is a piece of academic
writing, it is written with personal nuances by shifting from the first, second and
third person ( I , You . They ). He wants his reader to relate and identify with the
colonized and he wants to enable the man of colour to understand...the psychological
elements that can alienate his fellow Negro. Colonial history has been a harsh
interpreter of what it means to be human. Fanon expresses this anger by questioning
his blackness and questioning why the entire purpose of his existence is to emulate
the white man. As a good nigger he has even lost the privilege of descending to a
real hell. The

On most Linux distributions the package management system can download and
install MySQL with minimal effort, though further configuration is often required to
adjust security and optimization settings.
Though MySQL began as a low end alternative to more powerful proprietary
databases, it has gradually evolved to support higher scale needs as well. It is still
most commonly used in small to medium scale single server deployments, either as
a component in a LAMP based web application or as a standalone database server.
Much of MySQL s appeal originates in its relative simplicity and ease of use, which
is enabled by an ecosystem of open source tools such as php MyAdmin. In the
medium range, MySQL can be scaled by deploying it on more powerful hardware,
such as a multi processor server with gigabytes of memory.
The master server synchronizes continually with its slaves so in the event of failure a
slave can be promoted to become the new master, minimizing downtime. Further
improvements in performance can be achieved by caching the results from
Future Is Unpredictable And Uncontrollable Event
Future is unpredictable and uncontrollable event. Even we plan ahead of time,
there s still something that will get in the ways. But having a plan is always a
good thing since we cannot predict what will happen. My life plan is very simple;
getting a job, travel, being able to support my family and have enough money for
investing. My 5 years plan will be the first step to obtain my life plan. The first
thing is to have a decent career and earning a lot of money. I will be graduated in
May 2016 as a petroleum engineering. Finding a job right now is very difficult
since we are facing the downturn in oil industry. I will look for a job and working
full time. Chevron, Exxon, Halliburton, Baker Huge are the companies that I
would love to get a position in. I will try to learn, get more experiences and face all
kind of real life petroleum problems, so that I will have a decent amount of skills
which is needed if I aim for a promotion. While looking for a job in oil industry, my
back up plan is to work in a Nail Salon. Since most of Vietnamese people in the US
is familiar with being a manicurist and it has a good payout. I have been helping my
uncle with his salon in the weekend and I made quite enough money to cover my
gas, food and books while attending college. So it sure will help me a lot during this
downturn. The second thing is to marry my girlfriend. We are dating for 4 years,
been through a lot of things and she is always by my side for the whole time. We re

Effects of the Cold War in Nicaragua Essays
The Cold War was a period in history right after WWII ended and it ended in 1991,
when the USSR broke apart. The conflict was between two types of governments: the
communists and the capitalism (democrats). The USSR represented the communist
side, while the U.S. represented the democrats. Both countries had nuclear weapons
and did not want to fight each other directly because they didn t want a Mutually
Assured Destruction (MAD), so they fought through other countries, by Proxy Wars.
The global tensions in Cold Waraffected a few countries in a couple of regions, for
example Central America. The involvement of the United States aided Nicaragua
economically, militarily, and politically.

new farming system that the Sandinistas started using. The second group was lead
by a dissatisfied Sandinistas leader, Eden Pastora. He set up two groups in Honduras
called the contras , or counter revolutionary forces. Reagan wanted to support
contras economically and he stated that quite openly; however, a lot of U.S. citizens
did not like that. During that time, in 1985, a war between Iran and Iraq took place.
Even though the U.S. publicly supported Iraq, the government also secretly assisted
Iran. Among those years Iran asked the United States for help with weaponry. It is
illegal to sell weapons to the hostages but Regan still thought it would help him and
the U.S. One of the reasons why he did it was because he wanted to take control in
the problematic Middle East and selling weapons to Iran would improve the relations
with Iran and Lebanon. At the same time Reagan wanted to free the seven hostages
that were held by Iranian terrorist and even though he strongly supported the rule of
not negotiating with terrorists, he broke the rule by supplying Iran with weapons.
After receiving money from Iran, Regan sponsored contras using that money. The
United States had also supplied the contras with weapons and equipment. After the
clandestine deal between the two countries was published in the

Eduardo Galeano (interviewed by FaГєndez, 2002: 11)
The narratives and the evidence about the status of IJ in Latin America are
contradictory. For some, there is an increasing practice of this genre of journalism
(Alves, 2005; Castillo, 2016; Joyce, SaldaГ±a, Schmitz Weiss, Alves, 2017) while
for others, there is a relative declining of it (Dermota, 2002). These perceptions

Indeed, these countries share certain backgrounds, such economic crisis in the 1980s
and the 1990s and the consequential foreign debt and adjustment policies, high
inequality, poverty, and a skyrocketing corruption that came afterwards. Expressed in
particular local tones, these features have framed Latin America s entrance to
neoliberalism during the 1990s. Violence in different shapes is also a common
ground for Latin American societies, but with different patterns. For example, drug
trafficking and drug lords violence eventually in partnership with local authorities
are rather a familiar experience for Colombian and Mexican media workers, while
political state violence was a landmark during dictatorships in South America. Cases
of these unlikely experiences of violence against journalists populate this landscape.
Colombian editor, Guillermo Cano, was killed by gunmen in MedellГn (Colombia) in
the 1980s, as well as occurred to Javier Valdez in CualiacГЎn (MГ©xico) in 2017;
while reporters Rodolfo Walsh and JosГ© Carrasco Tapia were victims of state

Although violence was the shared feature of these cases, the contexts, the driven
forces, and the journalists as targets vary.

The Nigerian Stock Market and Its Impact on the Economy
CHAPTER ONE
OVERVIEW
Nigeria, like many other African countries, was created from a multi ethnic, socially
and culturally diverse people, situated between the Equator and the tropic of cancer,
its climate and vegetation can afford the growth of many tropical commodities such
as cocoa, groundnuts, palm produce and rubber. Starting from a low technological
base after political independence in 1960, the country embarked on the arduous task
of building a state with one identity by integrating the different ethnicities and
transforming the barter economy into financial exchange economy. The country
provided infrastructure and social amenities for a very young population. Over the
years, policies were pursued in order to achieve the goal of a ... Show more content on

Fakiyesi, O.M. in his paper also said that the poor in Nigeria have limited access to
savings and credit facilities, good roads, pipe borne water, innovative technology and
low output markets. They are predominantly in subsistence agriculture and in petty
trading, utilising traditional input. This is why the role of the capital market as agent
of growth and development is very important, thus this role has been subject of
concern and has drawn comments from different fora. It is under this background this
study was proposed, to further clarify the symbiotic relationship between the capital
market and economic development.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Economic advancement and allocation of the aggregate investment in an economy
for production of goods and services are too prominent factors in our national
development. The importance of capital market can be ascertained from the
increasing emphasis and recognition accorded to investment as veritable instruments
of development by policy makers in Nigeria and the world over.
Capital mobilisation and allocation are very essential if the regular features of poor
infrastructural facilities (i.e. bad roads/poor road networks, lack of electricity, water,
indecent accommodation, inadequate educational institutions, lack of health centres

Cowra History
The township of Cowra was not originally a township. In 1815 The Lachlan valley
was first discovered by an explorer named George William Evans, the plains were
renamed the Oxley Plains after his superior, general surveyor John Oxley and the
land was deemed unfit for settlement. In late 1817 a military supplies depot was
erected near present day Billimari.
The township of Coura Rocks was the first name for the current day town and was
erected in 1844. Around 1847, the township site became known as Cowra, and in
1849, was finally proclaimed a village.
At the start of the gold rush in 1850, many gold prospectors rushed through the
Lachlan valley after a speck of gold was found in nearby Bathurst. To accommodate

The first method of conflict resolution is community consensus; this is when two
opposing parties both reach a mutual agreement without the intervention of outside
parties. This may come into play in situations such as: neighbourhood disputes (i.e.
fencing, trees, and noise). The second method would be judicial interventions; these
would take place in a court of law guided by a judge and sometimes jury. In the
township of Cowra this would be the largest scale of conflict resolution and would
encompass things such as speeding fines, greater neighbourhood disputes, theft and

The Legacy Of John D. Rockefeller Essay
John Davison Rockefeller
One of the most influential men in shaping America, one of the most brilliant men
to walk this Earth, one of the most resilient and cut throat entrepreneurs of time is
John D. Rockefeller. There are a few things that make this man have a few of these
qualities. The biggest and most important reasons is he is one of the very few men
who literally made America and its reality what it is today. There are lots of men
who made big moves to push America in this direction, but Rockefeller s actions
were so big that it made him the richest man in America. Well what did Rockefeller
do that was so iconic? He discovered oil. Not only did he discover the biggest oil
source in the world, the Standard Oil Company, but he also used his wealth to fund
other philanthropic causes.
Early Life
John D. Rockefeller was born July 8, 1839 in New York. He was a married man with
a total of 5 kids with one of them dying at birth. His wife s name was Laura S.
Rockefeller and he married her in 1864. He always had a business mindset and he
never strayed from hard work, he actually thrived on it. Even at a young age he
started working harder than anyone in the room. This along with his natural talent
for the business world made him a top competitor in any job he was willing to take
on. Before Rockefeller had even had a job before he had walked around to local
businesses and tried showing his potential and tried landing a job. He was turned
down time after time but this did not
Persuasive Essay On Nuclear Disarmament
Throughout the history of humanity, humans have always fought with each other to
survive and possibly thrive from the resources and land obtained from the defeated
peoples. Furthermore, these conflicts have grown to be more costlier over the
centuries because of technological advances, such as tanks and machine guns. Some
of these technological advances have led to a lesser and lesser chance of a conflict
breaking out because of the concern of the costs outweighing the benefits of
committing to war; also known as deterrence. The most well known example of this
concept is nuclear arms deterrence. With this idea, nine countries around the world
employ this form of deterrence because they want to protect themselves, but what
happens if it presents more of threat in the foreseeable future? Additionally, this form
of deterrence has been known to fail, and many countries see nuclear arms as a bigger
threat showing that nuclear weaponsis a threat to mankind; therefore, disarmament
will be the best strategy to utilize. This concept of nuclear disarmament is known
commonly as Nuclear Zero and I agree completely with the idea and Professor
Sagan s side of the argument because it prevents the threat of nuclear catastrophe
and allows for the global community to work towards a goal of true peace. When the
concept of second strike capability is used to explain why nuclear deterrence works,
the concept is used only on the basis that an enemy country is threatening to use its
own
Multiple Extended Metaphors
The passage explains the thought process throughout an interrogation of the person
that is suspected of in the situation; then it goes on to explain the entire act of
interrogation as a whole with the interrogator and suspect. Throughout the passage
the author uses multiple extended metaphors to express the thought process of
suspect in an interrogationroom. In the passage it states, More to the point, they like
to imagine their suspects imagining a small, open window at the top of the long
wall. The open window is the escape hatch, the Out. The author uses the window to
symbolize a suspect trying to find an escape route that tends to be filled with lies to
get out of any type of punishment of the crime. This is directed to those that lack
knowledge on the subject of things in relation to interrogations; although, the
audience can be generally anyone because the passage is made to widely understood
by most people.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reality, both the interrogator and the suspect are looking for illogical answers
because the suspect is only focusing on looking for his own personal escape rather
than taking in the situation in as a whole which is selfish and irrational because if
the suspect put even a small amount of thought into maybe trying to help the
situation it could possibly be easier for both sides, but since it is basically engraved
into everyone s mind to think for themselves it always takes much more effort in such
The Simpsons Modern Family Satire Analysis
Situation comedy has used conventions satire and parody is used to reinforce
/challenge ideas and stereotypes through the mocking of societal issues. In this essay
I will discuss about how stereotypes and common ideas are constructed, and how they
are supported or challenged in The Simpsons and Modern Family through the use of
satire, and parody. The first sitcom viewed was The Simpsons(in class viewing),and
is used to explore and support the common idea of consumer capitalism in society
plus the idea of consumer debt through the use of exaggeration and parody. The other
sitcom viewed (home viewing) was the Modern Family episode called Sleeper which
constructs and challenges both parental stereotypes whilst supporting the
stereotypical traits of gay couples through the use of exaggeration and irony.
In the Maple episode of The Simpsons, the main social issues explored are culture,
capitalism and consumer debt. Consumer debt, although only brief, is explored when
Lisa attempts to buy MyPhonies to make herself look cool, however she can t afford
them. Satire in the form of exaggeration is used to explore the idea of making the
earphones much more expensive than what they should have been. This ... Show more

In the Modern Family episode called Sleeper , common stereotypes that are
challenged or supported are homosexual couples, housewives and fatherly figures.
The first stereotype, gay couples, is reinforced in this episode with the use of
exaggeration. The gay couple, Cameron and Mitchell, are constructed in this
episode to be feminine and emotional. Although the pair are seen as stereotypical,
Cam is more feminine in this episode, as he is very flamboyant and overreacts
more compared to Mitch who isn t as hot headed and dresses more like a man.
Through the use of exaggeration, the actions of both Cam and Mitch are overstated
and help to reflect the modern day stereotype of gay
Institutionalize Animal Testing
Animal experimentation has been at the forefront of brain research for decades. Rats,
mice, rabbits, dogs, pigs, and monkeys are all used to develop drugs and treatments to
benefit humans. Even though animal brains do not precisely mimic the biology of
the human brain, their brains have many of the same basic structures and functions.
Animal research, that is, the use of animals as experimental subjects in biomedical
and behavioural fields of learning, has been institutionalised on the basis of two key
assumptions, one factual and one moral. The factual assumption is that animal
research provides a reliable basis for predicting the effects of drugs, products and

Applied research focuses on answering a question of practical importance, such as
finding a cure for a disease. Examples of applied research include testing, breeding,
defence research, and toxicology, including cosmetics testing. Basic or pure
research investigates how organisms behave, develop, and function. Those
opposed to animal testing object that basic or pure research has little or no
practical purpose, but researchers argue that it forms the necessary basis for the
development of applied research. It is difficult to predict when and what types of
basic research will lead to eventual applications however much of it eventually does,
sometimes in areas far removed from the original research (Ferdowsian Gluck,
2015). All living things share certain characteristics, and basic research on one
organism often produces knowledge that applies to many other organisms. Both basic
and applied research using animals are subject to a number of safeguards that make it
very unlikely that the research will be unnecessary or poorly done. Before an
experiment using a vertebrate animal is carried out, the protocol for that experiment
must be reviewed by an institutional committee that includes a veterinarian and a
member of the public, and during the research the animal s health and care are
monitored regularly. Researchers require healthy animals for study in science and
medicine, because unhealthy animals could

The majority of those who embrace the minimalist concept of living focus on their
material assets, and relegate other aspects of their lives to secondary and tertiary
status in the adopted lifestyle. Others focus on the frugality of one s lifestyle, adorning
economical living with minimal living. Some, again, opt to equate minimalism and
environmentalism, with only modest justification.
Minimalism is a composite lifestyle, adopting numerous attributes from other
approaches to interacting with one s world, living life on a budget, and yet
incorporating a love of luxury with a desire for simplicity. This is the way of fine
art: remove the clutter around a feature piece, in order to focus more fully on the
pleasure that that specific item exudes.
We, as minimalists, choose to de clutter our surroundings and our mind, in order to
appreciate the simplicity of living without that bric a brac. It is a relatively easy
process. However, while we feed our soul, we ignore physical nourishment as it is
impacted by our minimal lifestyle.

Emergency Room Triage Observation
When first arriving at St. Luke s Cedar Rapids, Iowa Emergency Department the
patient is added to the Epic computer system as a patient in the waiting room with a
chief complaint. Behind a closed within view of the waiting area is the triage area

divided into six pods made up of six to seven patient rooms in each designated pod.
Each of the six pods are staffed with two nurses, one patient care technician, and a

inconsistencies within the triage process. Many times the patient no matter the length
of wait would not have any vitals obtained. My preceptor informed me that the

nurses are expected to work in the emergency room for six months before they are

all the float triage nurses have been held to the same standard, provided with

Sophia s cottage is also very important because this is where she found out the truth
of who Tristan really was and also she found out more about herself here. Alexis
also met her grandmother Rina here when she came to see Alexis. Also, this
particular house is where Alexis began creating and writing her first novel, and
was the first place her and Tristan hang out, that wasn t school or at the beach. Then
there is Tristan house, Alexis never really imagined that this would have been his
house but she admired the sculpture that were created by him. This is where Alexis
got drunk for her first time, and she found out that she was pretty strong when
Tristan made her upset and she grabbed a granite countertop that weights a few
hundred pounds and launched it across the room. Tristan house was the first place
they got attacked by Rogues and they didn t really succeed because Sophia was
there to help Tristan defeat them. Alexis is not very strong and is very fragile
because she yet has gone through the Ang dora which is where she becomes who
she is meant to be and also receives the powers of Amadis and make her the most
powerful member of it. After they had gone on there honeymoon, the Daemoni had
blown up Tristan s house to send him a message, after they found out he married
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Traditional Medicine
INTRODUCTION:
The skin or cutaneous membrane covers the external surface of the body. Skin
contributes in thermoregulation, serve as water repellant, and synthesize a number of
useful compounds like vitamin D and most importantly it act as a protective barrier
between the external environment and internal tissue [1]. According to medical
dictionary, breaching of skin or underlying tissue due to any accident, act of violence
or surgery is called as wound [2]. Following an injury, the skin has a tremendous
capacity to heal. When skin get injured, the repair process entails removal of the
damaged tissue and laying down of a new extracellular matrix (ECM) over which
epidermal continuity can be reestablished [3]. To promote wound repair and
regeneration, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ROS include free radicals such as superoxide anion radicals, hydroxyl radicals and
non free radical species such as hydrogen peroxide etc are exacerbating factors in
cellular injury and aging process [39]. Various antioxidant natural remedies derived
from plant such as polysaccharides from Angelica sinensis, Aloe vera gel, Eucommia
ulmoides Oliver leaf extract possess wound healing by scavenging free radical and
promoting collagen synthesis [40].
Antimicrobial activity
Microorganisms are believed to play a significant role in impaired healing of chronic
wounds and the development of infection related complications [41]. Bacterial
infection can cause sepsis occur which impede the repair process [42]. A number of
polyherbal preparations containing antimicrobial action have been scientifically
proved to possess wound healing activity for e.g. polyherbal gel formulated from
Terminalia arjuna, Centella asiatica and Curcuma longa reported to possess
antimicrobial and wound healing activities [43].

Analysis Of The Ugly Duckling
This version of the book titled The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Anderson was
much better than any of the other versions I have read. This version includes more
in depth details about what actually happens to the little ugly duckling. The detail
helps the reader better understand what is happening in the book because they can
actually picture the different events that are taking place. The book is also better
because it has detailed pictures of each event that is taking place so the reader can
actually see the different things the duckling is going through while their reading the
book. These different points tend to keep children more interested in the book and
make them want to read and learn from it themselves. This version is much longer
and includes more detail about each of the stops the ugly ducklingmakes on his
journey compared to what I have read before. Because this book is much longer, I
believe that children can really learn the moral and understand what the book is
trying to teach them which is to be nice to all even though some may be different. It
teaches children not to single others out because of their looks or their actions
because you never know what they are going to grow up to be. The pictures back up
what the author is trying to say, the reader can see that the other ducksand ducklings
kicked him out because he was different and the hunting dogs didn t even want to
mess with him because he was ugly. The book teaches children not to judge
Measuring Tornado
Measuring tornadoes
We use Fujita Pearson to measure the strength or force of a tornado. There are 6 F
scale numbers. F6 is the highest category with wind speed 319 379 mph. Next, F5
is incredible tornado with wind speed 261 318 mph. Next, F4 is devastating tornado
with wind speed 207 260 mph. It is completely capable of flattening cars and hurling
cattle, and F1 can push a mobile home off its foundation.
Naming tornadoes
The term comes from the Spanish word tornado . It is the past participle of the
Spanish verb tornar, which means to turn. It also stems from the word tornada,
meaning thunderstorm.
The seasons of tornado
In the United States, the tornado season, the period in which, most tornado strike, is

Denton Little s Death Date Essay
The novel Denton Little s Death Date by Lance Rubin is about seventeen year old
Denton Little, a high school senior, who lives in a world exactly like our own
except that updates in science have made it possible to accurately predict almost
everyone s death date. Denton Little is due to die on the day of his senior prom,
ironically with the theme of Livin It Up, though is unsure as to how and when.
Despite his early status, death date before the age of 21, Denton has always
wanted to live a normal life. With only two days left of his life and preparing for
his funeral, his seemingly last hours as his death approaches are jam packed with
Denton surrounded with drama and chaos as he uncovers a possible conspiracy, a
strange cop who keeps following him around, a strange man who promises he knows

In the novel Denton questions how he might die and wishes he knew. He tosses
around ideas like a car accident? Trip and fall? Stung by a bee and it turns out [he
s] allergic? Infected by some Ebola like virus? Mysterious brain thing a la Ashley
Miller? Or: straight up murdered? (Rubin 17). It seems to be a pattern that nobody
knows exactly how they will die. Though the use of science, Astro Thanato
Genetics or ATG, is able to accurately predict the date of death, it is not able to
detect the time of day nor how they die. By studying a baby s hair and blood and
DNA of the parents, scientists are able to determine one s death date. There is an idea
in the novel that has a hole in it which is that the science of determining one s death
can predict not just deaths from to health issues, like cancer, but can determine death
from completely unrelated issues and incidents, like suicide, murder, car accidents
and plenty more. Though this is not what the book ts necessarily about, it is
something that was most interesting throughout the
Alcohol And Violence In Townie By Andre Dubus
All towns, cities, and areas have their own specific traits. Small towns tend to be
more like a family, while big cities tend to be more passive. Then there are the
small areas where people do not make much money and struggle to get by. These
areas tend to be more violent and more influenced by drugs and alcohol. This is the
area that Andre Dubus III grew up in, in his memoir Townie. His parents were
divorced and neither of them made much money so he and his two sisters and
brother ended up moving from one small crummy neighborhood to another. In these
neighborhoods he would get involved in the wrong crowds and end up doing drugs,
drinking, and fighting. This became a way to show power. The most powerful
people were strong and always came... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was on man that was constantly attacking Andre when he was young. This
neighborhood thug named Clay had decided that he was going to target Andre and
beat him every time that he spotted him. Eventually Andre became so sick of this
and didn t have a clue what to do so he called his father. After that his father was
able to talk to Clay s father and have Clay leave Andre alone. After that negotiation
Clay and his mother came running out of their house screaming. This and the fact
that Clay hired a friend to try and beat Andre instead of himself showed Andre that
the only way to settle anything in this environment was to use a fist. Eventually
Andre decided that he need learn how to fight. This came from a need to prove
himself. Not to anyone else, but to himself. He felt like he had let his family and
himself down and he needed to fix that. This came to him after he witnessed his
brother brutally beaten in front of him. He went inside and looked in the mirror
and said to himself I don t care if you get your face beat in. I don t care if you get
kicked in the head or stabbed or even shot. I will never allow you not fight back
ever again. You hear me? Ever. Not once, ever, again, (Dubus 82). This was the real
turning point for Andre. This was when his self loathing had hit such a low that he
had nowhere to go but up. This was when he started to train. This was when he
started to become violent. He started by simply working out for
The Pan African Consciousness
I know no national boundary where the Negro is concerned. The whole world is my
province until Africa is free (Garvey). These words by Marcus Garvey perfectly
illustrate the spirit of unification that characterized the attitude of many people of
African Descent as a direct result of the callous treatment that Africaas a whole
suffered at the hands of Europeans. Europe not only ravished Africa of a significant
resource in the millions of lives that it stole and enslaved. Europe also pillaged the
continent with the brutal institution of colonization. The manacles of colonization
inspired great suffering in the lands and lives of Africans examples include Land
exploitation, labor exploitation and most significantly exploiting the minds... Show

It is at this point that Cesaire argues the permanent malnutrition is introduced. This
production of cash crops led to famine in the lands of The Congo and thusly caused
permanent damage in the lives of the colonized. This damage led to the aspect of the
Pan African movement that celebrated Africa. One very important idea pushed by
Marcus Garvey, who is known as the father of the Pan African Movement, is that
Africa was the ancestral home and spiritual cradle of all African descended peoples,
the scene of past and future glory ( Lynch 31). Garvey thought it was very important
that the continent be freed from tyrannous European imperialist grasp (Lynch 31).
The ideas that Garvey postulated about Africa were founded in the consequences of
Europe s misuse of the land.
Another way that European colonization caused harm to Africans is through labor
exploitation. Death, taxation, and torture were tools used to enforce labor policies.
After Europeans confiscated African land, they proceeded to charge Africans taxes
to inhabit the land. They charged the taxes in a manner that required Africans to
work for Europeans in order to pay. The railway line in The Congo, Ivory recovery,
cash crop cultivation and rubber extraction were all tasks performed by Africans.
Africans most often worked without pay. Europeans however made
The Indigenous People Of Australia
Ever since the colonization of Australia by the British Empire in the 18th Century, the
indigenous people of Australia have been subject to social inequalities that have left
their community ravaged. This treatment of the indigenous people was justified by
the concept of Racial Othering, and it continues to perpetuate the unequal treatment
of the indigenous people in Australia, to this day. One group of people are deemed
the norm, and everyone else is designated as the Other, who are considered deviant
(Fozdar, Wilding Hawkins 2009, pp. 4 5). In the case of the Indigenous people,
Racial Othering was originally based on physical differences determined by genetics
that differed from raceto race, but today it also takes into account the cultural
differences of people (Wilding Hawkins 2009, p. 5). What exactly Racial Othering
is, and just how it has contributed to the inequalities experienced by the indigenous
people of Australia, and what those inequalities are, will be elaborated on below.
To begin with, the concept of Racial Othering must be properly explained. It is an
offshoot of Othering itself, which as explained by George Herbert Mead, is a
process whereby people learn to become members of the society they belong to, by
defining themselves by what they aren t, rather than what they are (Mead, 1934).
Typically, those differ to the majority of people in society will be considered
deviants, and the majority considered the normal. In this vein, Racial Othering is

Beloved
Slavery has been a vital part of America s history since it began in 1619. Such
history must be preserved in order to understand its ongoing influence in issues
today, but thousands of stories of those enslaved have been lost or forgotten in time.
Toni Morrison expresses why the narrative of slavery must be continued on by
integrating the life of Margaret Garner into her novel Beloved. In Beloved, Toni
Morrisonintertwines fiction with the story of Margaret Garner in order pass it on and
explore what might have been if the circumstances surrounding Garner had been
different.
Margaret Garner and Sethe s murder of their children happened very similarly, but
the reaction and the aftermath differed. In 1856, Margaret Garner killed her
youngest child, and went to trial as a result. The case garnered nationwide attention
and inspired sympathy for the abolitionist cause. Despite the support, Garner
struggles to process what she has done. She knows her child is dead, but she does
not accept that she murdered her. She remarks to a journalist you ... Show more

Her community shuns her, and even a trusted friend like Paul D says What you did
was wrong, Sethe. (Morrison 194) Margaret Garner was provided with sympathy
and support from her enslaved community that recognized her desperation and fear,
and outsiders that were inspired by the tragedy of her case. Sethe s peers share her
experiences with slavery, but are less compassionate in their response. She was
isolated from her neighbors because she killed Beloved. The act was seen as a sort of
betrayal to the community in which no one is left behind, even if they knew her
circumstances. The trauma behind the crime was acknowledged, but not understood.
Both Margaret Garner and Sethe experience immense stress in the aftermath of their
daughter s death, as people question whether or not what they did was right and

Married couples seem to be more wiser than first time honeymooners and so are
more inquisitive when it comes to spending their holidays or vacations so that they
get the best deals for their budget.
But before anything else, why do married couples look for romantic destinations?
Well, for the top of the list reason, most of these married couples would want to
catch the spark again in their relationship. Some just want to enjoy each other s
company again after having kids and other big responsibilities. And even some just

Persuasive Essay On Motor Learning
Last year as a 2nd bachelor degree seeking student, I volunteered to participate in a
motor learning study about putting golf balls that aimed to replicate previous studies
[my basis for my proposal] that revealed learners studying and practicing a motor
skill with the expectation of having to teach the skillcould experience enhanced motor
learningcompared to learners expecting to be tested on the skill. One idea for future
research was to conduct a similar study with novice, student pilots who had never
received flight instruction to attempt a replication of similar findings in the
development of motor learning theory, specifically the development of theory
regarding the acquisition phase of learning a new skill (Daou, Lohse, Miller, 2016).
What key suggestion for future research did the authors address in their study?
The study addressed a shortcoming in the small body of literature indicating that
expecting to teach may enhance the learning of declarative knowledge, such as
academic information. Previous research had not investigated the effects of expecting
to teach on motor learning [such as putting a golf ball], which relies heavily on
procedural knowledge. They sought to determine if the participant s [expecting to
teach] learning was indirectly enhanced by motivation to spend more time studying
and practicing or if the participant s learning was directly [as revealed in a previous
study] improved after statistically controlling the quantity of studying and

Benjamin Franklin was one of the first and most famous scientists in America. He
was a man of many talents and interests. Franklin was always curios about they way
things work, and he always tried to find ways to make them work better. Even
though he started out as a published, he was always interested in science. However
this interest soon became a passion to Franklin. He even retired from his publishing
business to work in a laboratory with his mostly homemade equipment. Throughout
his life Benjamin Franklin made many important discoveries and theories which

Franklin realized that if a piece of silk were rubbed against a glass, the glass would
have a positive charge. Other scientists at that time believed that rubbing produced
electricity, however Franklin said that it was just the electric fluid being transferred
from the silk to the glass. This is known today as the law of conservation of change
and it is one of the basic principles of physics.
Franklin published his theories in a book titled Experiments and Observations on
Electricity Made at Philadelphia . It became a best seller in Europe as well as in
the colonies. The main topic of this book was Franklin s theory that lightning was
electrical energy. This was not a new idea, but Benjamin Franklin was the first to
perform an experiment on it. He said that if a metal rod was to be placed on top of
a tower or a tall building, it would be struck by lightning and hold an electrical
charge. Many scientists in Europe tried this experiment, and some had successful
results. When a French scientist, De Lor, attempted to repeat one of the proposed
experiments from the book a huge crowd of curious people had gathered in Paris to
see it.
In 1752 Franklin devised another experiment to test if lighting has an electrical
charge. He flied a kite carrying a pointed wire in a thunderstorm and attempted to test
his theory that atmospheric lightning is an electrical phenomenon similar to the spark
produced by an electrical frictional machine (Bruno 406). To

2.16% of sales. In 1989, with profit before taxes at a dismal 1.3% of sales and falling,
the shadow of a recession in car buying loomed dark and ominous. The average gross

What Is The Criticism Of Fairy Tales
2. Literature review
2.1 Introduction
In modern literary criticism, fairy tales are not only considered as the stories for
children to learn morality or to explore the world of fantasy, but also a type of serious
literary text open to be interpreted from different perspectives. Among all modern
literary criticism, spatial theories lead critics to understand the relationships among
nature, individuals and society through a multi dimensional perspective. Therefore, to
conduct a spatial analysis of Oscar Wilde s fairy tales, this section will first introduce
an overview of Oscar Wilde and his works except for fairy tales, and previous
studies on his fairy tales from different literary perspectives, such as psychoanalysis,
gender analysis and ascetic analysis. Second, this section will introduce previous
studies on spatial theories employed in this thesis.

Linguistic scholars tend to conduct functional and pragmatic studies to interpret
Wilde s fairy tales. They find that the characters and story plot can be revealed
through transitivity processes, the mood and modality system and the thematic
structure. Also, there are scholars employing cooperative principle to analyze the
dialogues in Wilde s stories and find that the distribution of the turns and turn
taking strategies can be used to explain Wilde s characterization processes (Cai,
2012, p. 79). In addition, linguists also analyze the diction in Wilde s stories based
on corpus. For example, a scholar studies Wilde s nine fairy tales by analyzing the
type, degree and metaphors of the color words written by Wilde, and conclude how
the color related words contribute to the aestheticism of Wilde s fairy tales (Xu,

Reflective Essay On The Glory Of God
As I said in this processing, we as individuals along with the church are coming full
circle to the image and the bride of Christ. In order to complete the process and
walk in victory we re going to have to get things right in the church. Let me say it
again, if we are to walk in the manifested power of the Glory of God we have to be
transparent, accountable and get things right or God is going to strip us naked in
front of everybody. We must stop perpetrating, be real and keep it real on this
journey. We must take authority over every unclean spirit and everything that s not
like God.
Rebuke those spirits! Rebuke the spirit of fear and intimidation in the name of Jesus!
Renounce the spirit of passivity. Renounce the spirit of insecurity, for in your

Jesus, I decree myself free. I make a decision. I ve decided to be free in the name of
Jesus. Wash me Lord! Satan will not stop the advancement of the church. He will not
stop the advancement of the people of God no matter what device he uses.
One of his most diabolical devices is the tongue. The people of God need to learn to
bridle their tongues. The same word that is spoken in your local church, you need to
speak. You got to start conforming to the spirit of the house. God wants to do

caught the attention and support of the colored voters. In contrast, the Democratic
partywas predominantly white during this time with ideas to keep the rights of the
state and the traditions of the South. Though these two parties have opposing views,
they began to clash and redirect their beliefs. Over time the two main political parties

As the Democratic platform changed, the Republican party became very conservative
and defended state s rights due to its opposition to what was called big government
(Rise of Rep. Party, p. 567). On the issue of race, the Republican party fully
supported that the white race was superior and the state had its own right to remain
segregated. A key politician that represents this change was the former Senator
Jesse Helms. Religion was the driving force of his political views and he was very
vocal about his opinions. His campaign developed the concept of the New Right
which refers to the Christian church stepping into the realm of politics (Jesse Helms
Doc). In the 1970s and the 1980s, many organizations became available, such as the
Christian Coalition and Moral Majority, to support the church having political
influence. Since the church became a part of political campaigns, politicians became
more reserved in their discrimination in a perception known as Southern Strategy.
This popular technique was used mainly by the Republican party that was extremely
traditional known as the Tea Party or far right . The first politician to introduce the
idea was President Nixon in 1960, through his speeches to the people. The Southern
Strategy technique is used when the speaker uses choices of words to convey a
negative, underlying meaning without blatantly stating their opinion (class
discussion). As an example, Nixon expressed his support of state s rights as a way of
admitting that he supported the continuation of segregation in the
Henry Of Livonia And The Baltic Crusades
Henry of Livonia the Baltic Crusades
Missions to the Baltic are a little known aspect of the Crusading era. Although these
missions clearly fed off of and fostered the crusading zeal, there is some debate as
to whether or not they should all be considered crusades. While the campaigns
against the Wends and Prussians were authorized by papal bulls and officially
recognized as crusades, it is unclear whether the campaigns to Livonia and Esthonia
in the 13th century can be rightfully called crusades. These campaigns seem, in some
ways, motivated more by economic than religious concerns. They received only
unofficial and inconstant papal endorsement, and never enjoyed the same number
and status of pilgrims as the crusades to the Holy Land. Yet they were missions
organized to convert the Baltic to Christianity and, as such, did receive some level of
papal support. Can they, then, be considered crusades?
Indulgences throughout the Crusades
It is important, first, to consider the nature of the crusading ideal. The First crusade
was preached on the basis of two ideals, one concrete and one symbolic. The first
was that Christian pilgrims were being physically harmed in the Holy Land. The
second was that the Holy Land was the land of Christ. Thus, it was imperative to
recover the Holy Land from the Muslims. To anyone who would do this, Pope Urban
granted remission of sins.
It was not until the Second crusade that the first papal bull regarding the crusades was
issued. Eugenius

Themes like loyalty, disguise, and hubris are still relevant in modern literature and
society. However, one aspect of Homer s epic may have been more of an aspiration
than a true reflection of the world around him. Women in ancient Greece were
relegated to the margins, while women in The Odyssey were featured as important,
multifaceted characters. The Odyssey would not be truly feminist by today s
standards; yet, modern feminist movements may have also found their earliest
feminist ideologies in Homer, as he reduced the inequality women faced in his

Odyssey, as he displays women as intelligent, puts women in leadership positions, and

Socialization Techniques Of African American Male
Within...
Abstract
Socialization techniques of African Americans, in particular black males in the
criminal justice system are vastly dissimilar in comparison to their white counterparts.
The dominant socialization indifference is theoretically associated with Marxist
Criminology schools of thought, in particular conflict theory. Qualitative, empirical,
and historical data supports Marxist criminology based on capitalism, conflict, and
the disparity treatment of the Afro American male within the criminal justicesystem:
police, courts, and corrections. This research will address how capitalism creates a
caste system that perpetuates conflict. Furthermore, this research will briefly explore
the correlation of American capitalism, slavery, Jim Crow, and the new Negro coined
criminal; and the Marx school of thought as it pertains to African Americanmales
interaction within the American criminal justice system and the hidden agenda of its
capitalistic government.

Introduction
The socialization techniques of African American males in the American criminal
justice system are vastly disproportionate in comparison to their white counter parts.
Economics and power play a vital role in this epidemic. This is best associated with
Karl Marx s philosophy of Marxist Criminology. (Marx) Early Marxist criminologist,

The Tyger Poetic Devices
William Blake s 1793 poem The Tyger has many interpretations, but its main
purpose is to question God as a creator. Its poetic techniques generate a vivid picture
that encourages the reader to see the Tyger as a horrifying and terrible being. The
speaker addresses the question of whether or not the same God who made the lamb, a
gentle creature, could have also formed the Tygerand all its darkness. This issue is
addressed through many poetic devices including rhyme, repetition, allusion, and
symbolism, all of which show up throughout the poem and are combined to create a
strong image of the Tyger and a less than thorough interpretation of its maker.
The first stanza directly addresses the Tyger, which is, according to the Oxford
English Dictionary, a large, carnivorous feline quadruped. It sets up the theme of
night, along with which comes darkness and evil. The third and fourth lines ask the
first of many repetitive and, in a sense, unanswerable questions: what kind of
creator has the ability to make something with such fearful symmetry (4)? The
second stanza moves on to ask the same question in a different format, inquiring
where the Tyger came from: heaven or hell. Starting in line 9, the speaker uses
powerful imagery to ask again what God could create the Tyger. The diction
portrays the Tyger as evil, with a twist[ed] heart (10). Lines 13 16 make up the fourth
stanza and compare the creator to a blacksmith. Lines 19 and 20 ask two questions
that are different

The Artist Thomas Cole s Life With The Beauty Of The...
The artist Thomas Cole was born in 1801, in England. He was an immigrant in the
United States, his family and him migrated to the states in 1818, he was 17 years of
age. Thomas Cole lived in many different states including, Ohio, Philadelphia and in
Pittsburgh where he work all over the place traveling back and fourth as a portrait
artist. Thomas Colewas a self taught artist yet he did interact with well know artist. A
changing point in Cole s life that in my opinion that had a big impact on the paintingI
am going to be talking about is when Cole discovered and fell in love with the
beauty of the Hudson River valley. His beautiful landscape exhibitions led him to
become part the National Academy of Design. Cole began to paint... Show more

In this painting we see an infant that is in a boat. Behind the infant there is an angel
that is guiding the child out of a cave into a beautiful landscape. Thomas Cole paints
the landscape very rich; you get o a sense of warmth and calmness. There is beautiful
green land, big mountains, and different types of flowers.
According to the website Exploring Thomas Cole, there are different types of
allegories in this painting. The first allegory is the hourglass that is in the boat.
The hourglass is meant to represent time, the second allegory is the river, which is
meant to represent the stream of life, and the third allegory is the flower, which is
an Egyptian lotus, which Cole described as symbolical of Human Life. Finally the
cave that the infant and the angel are coming out of according to Thomas Cole is
an emblematic of our earthly origin, and the mysterious Past. Cole uses different
types of light and dark colors it gives the painting a different look, the light colors
fade and so does the dark colors, this is called chiaroscuro. Perspective was also
used in this painting; different parts of the painting have different sizes giving us a
sense of depth.
The second painting, Youth, painted in 1842, oil on canvas, 53 in Г— 76 in,
continues to have a beautiful green landscape, we still see trees, flowers, mountains,
and now we see a castle in the back. In this painting the view is widening. The child
from the last painting now looks like adolescent. The
A Cell With Mutation Essay
3.What might you expect to find in a cell with mutation that yielded the following
organelles (1) 50% functional and (2) non functional. Justify your answers.
Mitochondria, rough ER, smooth ER, Peroxisomes, Golgi, and Chloroplasts.
In Eukaryotic cells, organelles play a major part in function and maintenance. If parts
of these organelles are not functioning properly, or at all, major issues could be
caused within that cell. The mitochondria is known as the power house of a cell that
functions at the site of respiration. Within the inner membrane, ATP synthesis
occurs which provides energy to the cell and it other parts. Without function of a
mitochondria, a cell would die; it has no energy to repair itself, has no energy to
transport molecules across the membrane, transport nutrients, send signals to other
cells, or any other processes. Metabolism, release of energy, movement, or forming
new nucleotides would not occur simply because energy is not available. The rough
ER is a connected system that is the site of protein synthesis. Proteins are a part of
all processes in life including break down of food, aerobic respiration, transport of
molecules through the body, glycolysis, DNA replication, DNA folding, and many
more. If the rough ER of a cell was non functional, a cell would not produce the
proteins needed for these processes, therefore, in a human, many bodily functions
would not occur which could eventually lead to death. Plants may also die because

China And The Toll Of Smoking
Smoking: The Effects on Health and on a Government
Smoking, in the United States has become more of a social taboo in the efforts to
decrease cigarette use and prevent the negative health factors associated with it.
Still today approximately 5 million deaths are caused by cancer, with the highest
occurrence of death in China. China has a large majority of the world s smokers,
and there may be several underlying reasons why. The article, China and the Toll of
Smoking, written by The Editorial Board of the New York Times embodies several
concepts of cultural anthropology. The economic power tobaccocompanies have over

gain profits in China have led to violations of informed consent because Chinese

China has the largest population of smokers and this may be because the citizens of
China are unaware of the negative effects cigarette use has on one s health. Despite
external intervention by the World Health Organization, China has neglected to
place warning labels on cigarette packages. I believe this is because of the power
the Chinese tobacco companies have over the government. Globalization and the
cigarette trade with Japan Tobacco may have also contributed to the misinformed
Chinese populous. It has been stated that money is the root of all evil, and in this
case, the economic benefits are outweighing the health of Chinese citizens. ...1
billion tobacco related deaths are predicted to occur during the 21st century (He et.
all 2010). These lives lost due to tobacco use will continue to exist and may increase.
The only way to reduce these alarming statistics is for the Chinese government and
governments around the world to begin informing their citizens of the dangers of

The Droughtlanders
Part A
1. Carrie Mac is an award winning author who wrote the Droughtlanders series.
Carrie is a writer, storyteller and an artist. She s written countless books, many that
are award winning her very first book The Beckoners won the Arthur Ellis YA
Award, is a CLA Honour book, and is being adapted for film. Carrie is able to hold
the interest of many teenagers with her griping novels.
2) The novel The Droughtlanders is set in a futuristic world where disease and
death are kept outside city walls and is spread by the Droughtlanders people who try
to survive on the parched land between the keys. The characters in the novel want to

The initiating event in the novel The Droughtlanders that got the entire story rolling
is when Eli follows his mother and sees her talking to a Droughtlander, the very
same people he was taught to hate and despise because of the sickness that they carry.
When he sees his mother kiss the Droughtlander he is mortified that that his mother
would go anywhere near the people that are considered worse than rats. This leads Eli
to question his mother, then question his beliefs, and then follow in his mother s
footsteps to bring the keys down.
7) I can imagine myself re reading this book again in 10 years because this book is
amazing and it is perfect for teenagers and young adult readers. This book is griping
and beautifully written. When reading this book you get thrown into the apocalyptic
setting. I would recommend this book to my friends because I loved it and all the
other books in the series. It s just great.
Part B
2.a) One scene in the novel that I remember well is I the very beginning, at a circus
that the Droughtlanders put on. In this scene a circus performer on the tightrope
plummets to his death. I remember this because it is so vivid and gives insight on
how low the Droughtlanders are considered within the keys. The acrobat stumbled
backward, and then, as the crowd s gasps lifted into cheers he fell to the concrete
floor . (p 1) The crowds watched as a young boy fell to his death and they cheered,
his death was their entertainment. Because he was
How Did Queen Mary Influence Her Country
Queen Mary began her reign in 1553, before it came to a tragic end of death in
1558. Although it was a short reign, she made an impact on the country, whether it
be good or bad. At first, Queen Mary allowed for the dual religious system within
her country. But ultimately, she was unhappy with the religious split. She continued
on repealing many of Henry VIII s religious decrees. He broke away from the
catholic church because he was angry with the Pope. King Henry created his own
religious guidelines because he wanted to divorce his current wife, Mary s mother,
Catherine of Aragon. After reinstating her parents marriage, she began replacing his
policies with her own, which included a strict heresy law. The enforcement of this
law resulted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When she came to the throne on 17th November 1558, she quickly realized she
had inherited a poor, ill equipped country highly vulnerable to attack. Religious
upheavals over the previous 30 years had deeply divided her subjects. The
Elizabethan reign are referred to as a Golden Age. During this time, England and
Elizabeth faced several major trials. Because Queen Mary Tudor reinstated her
parents marriage, Elizabeth was marked as a bastard child unfit for the crown.
This caused a shift in loyalty within the church. As a Protestant, the Catholics were
looking for a leader such as Mary Queen of Scots. Especially in the early years of
Elizabeth s reign, England always faced the danger of attack from the great Roman
Catholic powers, Spain and France, egged on by the Pope. Elizabeth kept the
Catholic mass in her own private chapel and sent an ambassador to the Papal Court.
Although the Queen and her advisors decided on legislation through the Protestant
faith in mind, she made it clear that she would force no one s conscience to conform
to the Protestant faith and make no one a martyr in the cause of religion. Queen
Elizabeth inherited a military unable to protect a country. However, the House of
Tudor had always excelled in propaganda, whether it be within their own country or
amongst the surrounding nations. England had little chance of resisting a direct
onslaught from them. Elizabeth relied, therefore, on guile, smokescreens, and
Organizational Changes Essay
Organizational Changes Organizational changes take place when the force field that
counterbalances change is overcome. Different power base utilization facilitates
these types of changes. Change could be a topic in and by itself but we have chosen
to incorporate the use of different power bases and their effects on change. Power, in
organizational change, is having the potential ability to influence behavior, to change
the course of events, to overcome resistance, and to get people to do things that they
would not otherwise do.(1) Understanding when to use a particular type of power

introduction of the three stages; commonly referred to as the eight stage model
when the additional steps are included. After the changes are implemented it has to
be institutionalized into the culture to prevent regression into the old ways. Since
this model was covered in the text, I will generalize the other models and then
integrate the power bases into a few of them. Lewin s Change Model.gif (6660

desired to happen. It has two stages: one is the present state and the second is the
future desired state. The strategy that is to be determined to attain the future state is
laid out with the understanding that resistance will be encountered. If the change is
to be implemented with minimal resistance then the coercive power, information
power, and expert power bases are best. The person with the vision must be possess

Action Sports and Television Essay
Action Sports and Television Actions sports have always been interesting to me. The
way the athletes perform their tricks, how judges score them, and how the camera
operators keep up with such a fast paced competition. The more I thought of my
interest in this subject, the more I wanted to know. The growth of action sports on
televisionfollows the same pattern of any other type of show genre in its early
stages. Documentaries, themed shows or movies, and especially the coverage on
live television would be good places to start looking into. The impact on cable
television and sports channels could further delve into other questions that comes to
mind, like how the public viewed them. When did corporate sponsorships begin to

An example being, as skis were manufactured lighter yet still retaining their
durability, people began to push their limitations based on the limitations of the
equipment. Many people give credit to people considered pioneers of action sports.
Rodney Mullen, Tony Hawk, Matt Hoffman, Travis Pastrana are just a few
heavyweight title holders for defining what extreme sports are as well as helping to
stimulate their popularity in the public eye. Television coverage of competitions has
brought extreme sports and their participants more attention as well. The X Games
and the Olympics are only two of many examples. Sponsorships play a huge role in
any television programming. When shows of early television aired, they had live
performances of a company s jingle ( Vitameatavegamin episode of I Love Lucy)
and even demonstrations of exactly what it was supposed to do for the average
american viewer. Cigarette ads were one of the most common, like before one the
episodes of I Love Lucy we watched in class where the stick figure versions of
Lucy and Desi were standing next to a large box of cigarettes and smoking one
themselves. Sponsorships by tobacco companies are not around anymore on
television. Companies controlling all aspects of a show are long gone and
corporate sponsorships are seen plastered all over anything a company can get their
hands on during air time for action sports. Everything from billboards to the bearings
Importance Of Listening Skills
Listening is more often used in communication than other skills. It plays a
significant role in communication and is considered as one of the fundamental
skills in learning English. According to Burley Allen in Flowerdew and Miller,
(2005: 22 23), the importance of listening skills for communication can be seen from
the average time people spend in daily communication. People usually spend 35% of
their time for speaking, 16% for reading, 9% for writing and 40% for listening. Thus,
listening in this matter is the highest skillto use in communication.
Listening also plays an important role in language teaching. It provides the aural
input that serves the basis of language acquisition and enables learners to interact in
spoken communication. The student with good listening skills will be able to
participate more effectively in communicative situations, because they are able to
understand the message being conveyed. Listening which has been called as the
neglected or ignored language art for more than 50 years for it is rarely taught in
kindergarten until eighth grade, as a result it is considered as the most difficult skill
to be acquired.
Listening has an important role in communication, even though it is also an activity
that is hard to teach to the students. As Perez, (2000:1811) in Mayor, (2009:1) states
that listening is a complex problem solving skill which is difficult to teach and until
a few years ago listening has not been accepted as the skill that should be

Pasteur And The Chemist In The Academy Of Medicine In
Paris
The relationship between chemist and the doctors in the Academy of Medicine in
Paris is that they both study in the same field of science. Chemist are seen as frauds
like Pasteur for advocating doctors to wash their hands and clean their instrument.
The doctors targets the well being of humans while chemist specializes in their
medication.
Dr. Charbonnet believed that diseases appeared within humans similar to how certain
forms come from inanimate objects like fleas from dust; this is called spontenous

that the microbes are not the reason for causing an illness but come after someone

Dr. Joseph Lister was able to reintroduce cleaniness to the medical field. He used

Snowboarding Changes
It is strange that over time your view on a simple thing, such as snow can change
so much over the years. As a child, I loved snow! I loved the way it fell from the
sky, falling in swirling patterns as I ran around trying to catch one on my tongue.
It was a quite a process for my mother to put all the clothing that she thought was
necessary. Once this was done, I would run out and open the gate for the dogs, we
owned five, they would stick their nose in the snow then slingshot it towards my
direction. We would continue this until I grew tired then I would throw a tennis ball
for them. I would throw the ball and watch it get buried in the snow. Then the dogs
would run in the general direction the ball was thrown and commenced digging in the

After spending two years in a tropical climate, coming home to a dry and cold
climate seems cruel. Especially when I have to walk from my apartment to my
various classes. But, once again my view on snow has changed once again when
my friend invited me to go snowboarding with him. It was the first time that I went
snowboarding. I was feeling confident. because I know how to skateboard and I
thought I would be able to transition my skills fairly easily. We set out to my
roommates house to pick up his cousin and the snow gear for me. From there we
went to the resort; once we got all our gear one we walked to the bunny hill lift. It
looked simple enough, all you had to do was hold on to a rope that would pull you
and the board up the hill. So I was partly strapped in my board ready to grab on the
rope. Once I grabbed on the force pulling me forward surprised me, I bent this way
and that eventually falling down. This happened two more times until I gave up
and walked the rest of the way up the hill. I like to say the bunny hill went better,
but it didn t. I soon realized that my skills as a skateboarder did not transition well.
I fell many times and there were no signs of me getting better. After we ran the
bunny hill a few times my roommate took me to the intermediate sloop. From the
bottom of the hill I looked up at the steep slope and I thought I was going to die if I
went down that hill. Getting on the lift was not as difficult as I thought, I jusr sat
down and slid my board off the hill. The anticipation was building going up the hill,
because the lift kept stopping, making the ride even longer. I started out really
well, Sliding down the hill is a ziz zag formation. Then I made my first big mistake. I
was feeling a little more confident in my skills and decided to go a little faster. Once
I decided to do this my snowboard went over a patch of ice. The board slipped out
from under my and I rolled und
Levels Of Acid-Buffer Titration
INTRODUCTION
For this experiment, a weak acid buffer titration will be performed. While acids
produce hydronium ions in water, bases produce hydroxide ions. To determine how
strong an acid or base is, levels of dissociation are observed. While a strong acid or
base entirely dissociates in solution, a weak acid or base only partially dissociates in
solution. The extent to which a weak acid dissociates in an aqueous solution can be
denoted by the constant, Ka, which stands for the ratio in products to reactant. The
following equation is used to describe the mentioned ratio in an acid dissociation:
Ka= (гЂ–[HгЂ—_3 O^+][A^ ])/([HA])
Acids with larger Ka values dissociate to a greater extent, while those with smaller
values dissociate to an inferior extent. To illustrate the dissociation of water
molecules, the constant, Kw, is used instead. In case of a pure water sample, only a
small amount molecules will form hydronium and hydroxide ions. The formula for
the autoionization of water, the process mentioned, can be denoted in the following
equilibrium equation:
Kw= [H3O+][OH ] in which the value of Kw is equal to 1x10 14, where both H3O+
and OH are equal to 1x10 7 M. In addition, to measure how acidic or basic a solution
is, the pH scale is used. An acidic solution has a value that is lower than 7, and has a
higher concentration of hydronium ions, meaning a concentration that is higher than
1.0x10 7. A basic solution has value that is greater than 7, and has a lower
concentration

Graduating High School Essay. High school graduation essay sample in 2021 Essay, High school ...

  • 1. Graduating High School Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Graduating High School" presents a unique set of challenges that require a delicate balance between personal reflection and broader implications. Firstly, the task demands introspection, as one must delve into personal experiences, growth, and the myriad of emotions that come with the culmination of a significant chapter in life. This can be both a nostalgic journey and an exercise in self-awareness, making it a delicate tightrope walk between sentimentality and substance. Moreover, the essay should transcend the personal realm and address universal themes that resonate with a broader audience. This requires the writer to navigate the fine line between individual anecdotes and relatable narratives that capture the essence of the high school experience. Balancing the personal with the universal is a challenge in itself, as the writer must avoid veering too far into either extreme, maintaining a cohesive and engaging narrative throughout. Another layer of complexity arises from the need to avoid clichГ©s and tired tropes associated with graduation essays. Steering clear of overused phrases and predictable narratives is essential to creating a piece that stands out. This involves a careful consideration of language and a creative approach to storytelling that breathes fresh life into familiar experiences. Furthermore, the essay must encapsulate the growth and learning that occurs during the high school journey. Articulating the transformative moments, academic achievements, and personal development requires a keen understanding of one's own experiences and the ability to communicate these in a way that resonates with the reader. Striking a balance between humility and pride is crucial to avoid sounding boastful or self-deprecating. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of graduating high school is a nuanced endeavor that requires a delicate interplay of personal reflection, universal themes, creativity, and avoidance of clichГ©s. Navigating this complexity demands a thoughtful approach to storytelling, language, and self-awareness. As a result, the process involves a significant investment of time and effort to produce a compelling and memorable piece. For those seeking assistance in crafting similar essays or tackling various writing challenges, there are resources available, such as HelpWriting.net, where professional writers can provide guidance and support tailored to individual needs. • 2. Review Of Nicolo And Maffeo Polo In 1260, Nicolo and Maffeo Polo set forth on their first journey to the East. After traveling from the East to the land of the Tartar they reached the Kublai Khan court. The Khan questioned them about the Catholic faith and asked them to return to Europe and request the pope to send missionaries. However, when the two explorers returned they learned that Pope Clement was dead. After that discovery they also revealed Nicolo s wife had died while giving birth to a son, who is now in his teenage years. After the passing of the Pope there was a long delay in naming a new one. In 1271, Marco Poloset forth navigating across exotic lands with his father and uncle on a journey that lasted several years. Marco Polo discovered trade and religion that has brought the world together today. The beginning of their journey led to them being accepted into the Kublai KhanCourt. This journey took place across deserts, mountains, and seas in East Asia, continuing along the Silk Road, and through regions that were unknown to the Western World. Also, they had many encounters with creatures, plants, and humans from different cultures. Through acceptance and service, Marco Polo was led to places far away that were rich of gems, gold, and silk. Yet, when participating in a military conflict in 1298 he was taken captive. Marco Polo, the son of a Venetian merchant and traveler, has become one of the most famous European travelers because of the documentation of his journey. Marco Polo
  • 3. Critique And Analysis Of Black Skins, White Masks By... Black Skins, White Masks Final Paper Black Skins, White Masks, is a powerful critique and analysis of the damaging effects of colonial racism from a psychological and political perspective. Frantz Fanon was born on a Caribbean island called Martinique, which was under the French rule. His experience and account of colonization brings to light the dependency and inferiority felt by the black colonial subjects. By seeing oneself through the eyes of the colonizer, Fanon describes the struggles of the black person with their divided perceptions of the world and of one s self. Black Skin, White Masks is a passionate study of colonial racism and urges the racially oppressed to take action against the injustice of racism. Fanon, is trying to make his reader gain a clear insight into the effects of racial oppression. Even though Black Skin s White Masks is a piece of academic writing, it is written with personal nuances by shifting from the first, second and third person ( I , You . They ). He wants his reader to relate and identify with the colonized and he wants to enable the man of colour to understand...the psychological elements that can alienate his fellow Negro. Colonial history has been a harsh interpreter of what it means to be human. Fanon expresses this anger by questioning his blackness and questioning why the entire purpose of his existence is to emulate the white man. As a good nigger he has even lost the privilege of descending to a real hell. The

On most Linux distributions the package management system can download and install MySQL with minimal effort, though further configuration is often required to adjust security and optimization settings. Though MySQL began as a low end alternative to more powerful proprietary databases, it has gradually evolved to support higher scale needs as well. It is still most commonly used in small to medium scale single server deployments, either as a component in a LAMP based web application or as a standalone database server. Much of MySQL s appeal originates in its relative simplicity and ease of use, which is enabled by an ecosystem of open source tools such as php MyAdmin. In the medium range, MySQL can be scaled by deploying it on more powerful hardware, such as a multi processor server with gigabytes of memory. The master server synchronizes continually with its slaves so in the event of failure a slave can be promoted to become the new master, minimizing downtime. Further improvements in performance can be achieved by caching the results from
  • 6. Future Is Unpredictable And Uncontrollable Event Future is unpredictable and uncontrollable event. Even we plan ahead of time, there s still something that will get in the ways. But having a plan is always a good thing since we cannot predict what will happen. My life plan is very simple; getting a job, travel, being able to support my family and have enough money for investing. My 5 years plan will be the first step to obtain my life plan. The first thing is to have a decent career and earning a lot of money. I will be graduated in May 2016 as a petroleum engineering. Finding a job right now is very difficult since we are facing the downturn in oil industry. I will look for a job and working full time. Chevron, Exxon, Halliburton, Baker Huge are the companies that I would love to get a position in. I will try to learn, get more experiences and face all kind of real life petroleum problems, so that I will have a decent amount of skills which is needed if I aim for a promotion. While looking for a job in oil industry, my back up plan is to work in a Nail Salon. Since most of Vietnamese people in the US is familiar with being a manicurist and it has a good payout. I have been helping my uncle with his salon in the weekend and I made quite enough money to cover my gas, food and books while attending college. So it sure will help me a lot during this downturn. The second thing is to marry my girlfriend. We are dating for 4 years, been through a lot of things and she is always by my side for the whole time. We re planning to
  • 7. Effects of the Cold War in Nicaragua Essays The Cold War was a period in history right after WWII ended and it ended in 1991, when the USSR broke apart. The conflict was between two types of governments: the communists and the capitalism (democrats). The USSR represented the communist side, while the U.S. represented the democrats. Both countries had nuclear weapons and did not want to fight each other directly because they didn t want a Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD), so they fought through other countries, by Proxy Wars. The global tensions in Cold Waraffected a few countries in a couple of regions, for example Central America. The involvement of the United States aided Nicaragua economically, militarily, and politically. When Central America got rid of Spanish Colonial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the National Guard didn t have that many people, they started recruiting farmers who were kicked out because of the new farming system that the Sandinistas started using. The second group was lead by a dissatisfied Sandinistas leader, Eden Pastora. He set up two groups in Honduras called the contras , or counter revolutionary forces. Reagan wanted to support contras economically and he stated that quite openly; however, a lot of U.S. citizens did not like that. During that time, in 1985, a war between Iran and Iraq took place. Even though the U.S. publicly supported Iraq, the government also secretly assisted Iran. Among those years Iran asked the United States for help with weaponry. It is illegal to sell weapons to the hostages but Regan still thought it would help him and the U.S. One of the reasons why he did it was because he wanted to take control in the problematic Middle East and selling weapons to Iran would improve the relations with Iran and Lebanon. At the same time Reagan wanted to free the seven hostages that were held by Iranian terrorist and even though he strongly supported the rule of not negotiating with terrorists, he broke the rule by supplying Iran with weapons. After receiving money from Iran, Regan sponsored contras using that money. The United States had also supplied the contras with weapons and equipment. After the clandestine deal between the two countries was published in the

The narratives and the evidence about the status of IJ in Latin America are contradictory. For some, there is an increasing practice of this genre of journalism (Alves, 2005; Castillo, 2016; Joyce, SaldaГ±a, Schmitz Weiss, Alves, 2017) while for others, there is a relative declining of it (Dermota, 2002). Expressed in particular local tones, these features have framed Latin America s entrance to neoliberalism during the 1990s. Violence in different shapes is also a common ground for Latin American societies, but with different patterns. For example, drug trafficking and drug lords violence eventually in partnership with local authorities are rather a familiar experience for Colombian and Mexican media workers, while political state violence was a landmark during dictatorships in South America. Cases of these unlikely experiences of violence against journalists populate this landscape. Starting from a low technological base after political independence in 1960, the country embarked on the arduous task of building a state with one identity by integrating the different ethnicities and transforming the barter economy into financial exchange economy. • 12. Persuasive Essay On Nuclear Disarmament Throughout the history of humanity, humans have always fought with each other to survive and possibly thrive from the resources and land obtained from the defeated peoples. Furthermore, these conflicts have grown to be more costlier over the centuries because of technological advances, such as tanks and machine guns. Some of these technological advances have led to a lesser and lesser chance of a conflict breaking out because of the concern of the costs outweighing the benefits of committing to war; also known as deterrence. The most well known example of this concept is nuclear arms deterrence. With this idea, nine countries around the world employ this form of deterrence because they want to protect themselves, but what happens if it presents more of threat in the foreseeable future? Additionally, this form of deterrence has been known to fail, and many countries see nuclear arms as a bigger threat showing that nuclear weaponsis a threat to mankind; therefore, disarmament will be the best strategy to utilize. This concept of nuclear disarmament is known commonly as Nuclear Zero and I agree completely with the idea and Professor Sagan s side of the argument because it prevents the threat of nuclear catastrophe and allows for the global community to work towards a goal of true peace. When the concept of second strike capability is used to explain why nuclear deterrence works, the concept is used only on the basis that an enemy country is threatening to use its own

Others focus on the frugality of one s lifestyle, adorning economical living with minimal living. Some, again, opt to equate minimalism and environmentalism, with only modest justification. Minimalism is a composite lifestyle, adopting numerous attributes from other approaches to interacting with one s world, living life on a budget, and yet incorporating a love of luxury with a desire for simplicity. This is the way of fine art: remove the clutter around a feature piece, in order to focus more fully on the pleasure that that specific item exudes. We, as minimalists, choose to de clutter our surroundings and our mind, in order to appreciate the simplicity of living without that bric a brac. It is a relatively easy process. However, while we feed our soul, we ignore physical nourishment as it is impacted by our minimal lifestyle. One of the

To begin with, the concept of Racial Othering must be properly explained. It is an offshoot of Othering itself, which as explained by George Herbert Mead, is a process whereby people learn to become members of the society they belong to, by defining themselves by what they aren t, rather than what they are (Mead, 1934). One idea for future research was to conduct a similar study with novice, student pilots who had never received flight instruction to attempt a replication of similar findings in the development of motor learning theory, specifically the development of theory regarding the acquisition phase of learning a new skill (Daou, Lohse, Miller, 2016). What key suggestion for future research did the authors address in their study? The study addressed a shortcoming in the small body of literature indicating that expecting to teach may enhance the learning of declarative knowledge, such as academic information. Previous research had not investigated the effects of expecting to teach on motor learning [such as putting a golf ball], which relies heavily on procedural knowledge. They sought to determine if the participant s [expecting to teach] learning was indirectly enhanced by motivation to spend more time studying and practicing or if the participant s learning was directly [as revealed in a previous study] improved after statistically controlling the quantity of studying and

Other scientists at that time believed that rubbing produced electricity, however Franklin said that it was just the electric fluid being transferred from the silk to the glass. This is known today as the law of conservation of change and it is one of the basic principles of physics. Franklin published his theories in a book titled Experiments and Observations on Electricity Made at Philadelphia . It became a best seller in Europe as well as in the colonies. The main topic of this book was Franklin s theory that lightning was electrical energy. This was not a new idea, but Benjamin Franklin was the first to perform an experiment on it. He said that if a metal rod was to be placed on top of a tower or a tall building, it would be struck by lightning and hold an electrical charge. Many scientists in Europe tried this experiment, and some had successful results. When a French scientist, De Lor, attempted to repeat one of the proposed experiments from the book a huge crowd of curious people had gathered in Paris to see it. In 1752 Franklin devised another experiment to test if lighting has an electrical charge. He flied a kite carrying a pointed wire in a thunderstorm and attempted to test his theory that atmospheric lightning is an electrical phenomenon similar to the spark produced by an electrical frictional machine (Bruno 406). By 1987, however, profits reached a high of 2.16% of sales. In 1989, with profit before taxes at a dismal 1.3% of sales and falling, the shadow of a recession in car buying loomed dark and ominous. The average gross profit as a percent of sales also indicates a bleak outlook [SEE EXHIBIT 5]. In 1988 the top 100 megadealers in the U.S. controlled nearly 13% of total new car sales. It is estimated that if current trends continue, up to 25% of those megadealers will go out of business (Spinella, 1988). Literature review 2.1 Introduction In modern literary criticism, fairy tales are not only considered as the stories for children to learn morality or to explore the world of fantasy, but also a type of serious literary text open to be interpreted from different perspectives. Among all modern literary criticism, spatial theories lead critics to understand the relationships among nature, individuals and society through a multi dimensional perspective. Therefore, to conduct a spatial analysis of Oscar Wilde s fairy tales, this section will first introduce an overview of Oscar Wilde and his works except for fairy tales, and previous studies on his fairy tales from different literary perspectives, such as psychoanalysis, gender analysis and ascetic analysis. Let me say it again, if we are to walk in the manifested power of the Glory of God we have to be transparent, accountable and get things right or God is going to strip us naked in front of everybody. We must stop perpetrating, be real and keep it real on this journey. We must take authority over every unclean spirit and everything that s not like God. Rebuke those spirits! Rebuke the spirit of fear and intimidation in the name of Jesus! Renounce the spirit of passivity. Renounce the spirit of insecurity, for in your weakness God s strength is made perfect. As the Democratic platform changed, the Republican party became very conservative and defended state s rights due to its opposition to what was called big government (Rise of Rep. Party, p. 567). On the issue of race, the Republican party fully supported that the white race was superior and the state had its own right to remain segregated. A key politician that represents this change was the former Senator Jesse Helms. Religion was the driving force of his political views and he was very vocal about his opinions. His campaign developed the concept of the New Right which refers to the Christian church stepping into the realm of politics (Jesse Helms Doc). In the 1970s and the 1980s, many organizations became available, such as the Christian Coalition and Moral Majority, to support the church having political influence. Since the church became a part of political campaigns, politicians became more reserved in their discrimination in a perception known as Southern Strategy. This popular technique was used mainly by the Republican party that was extremely traditional known as the Tea Party or far right . The first politician to introduce the idea was President Nixon in 1960, through his speeches to the people. The Southern Strategy technique is used when the speaker uses choices of words to convey a negative, underlying meaning without blatantly stating their opinion (class discussion). Although these missions clearly fed off of and fostered the crusading zeal, there is some debate as to whether or not they should all be considered crusades. While the campaigns against the Wends and Prussians were authorized by papal bulls and officially recognized as crusades, it is unclear whether the campaigns to Livonia and Esthonia in the 13th century can be rightfully called crusades. These campaigns seem, in some ways, motivated more by economic than religious concerns. They received only unofficial and inconstant papal endorsement, and never enjoyed the same number and status of pilgrims as the crusades to the Holy Land. Yet they were missions organized to convert the Baltic to Christianity and, as such, did receive some level of papal support. Can they, then, be considered crusades? Indulgences throughout the Crusades It is important, first, to consider the nature of the crusading ideal. The First crusade was preached on the basis of two ideals, one concrete and one symbolic. The first was that Christian pilgrims were being physically harmed in the Holy Land. The second was that the Holy Land was the land of Christ. Thus, it was imperative to recover the Holy Land from the Muslims. To anyone who would do this, Pope Urban granted remission of sins. It was not until the Second crusade that the first papal bull regarding the crusades was issued. Eugenius

  • 40. The Tyger Poetic Devices William Blake s 1793 poem The Tyger has many interpretations, but its main purpose is to question God as a creator. Its poetic techniques generate a vivid picture that encourages the reader to see the Tyger as a horrifying and terrible being. The speaker addresses the question of whether or not the same God who made the lamb, a gentle creature, could have also formed the Tygerand all its darkness. This issue is addressed through many poetic devices including rhyme, repetition, allusion, and symbolism, all of which show up throughout the poem and are combined to create a strong image of the Tyger and a less than thorough interpretation of its maker. The first stanza directly addresses the Tyger, which is, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, a large, carnivorous feline quadruped. It sets up the theme of night, along with which comes darkness and evil. The third and fourth lines ask the first of many repetitive and, in a sense, unanswerable questions: what kind of creator has the ability to make something with such fearful symmetry (4)? The second stanza moves on to ask the same question in a different format, inquiring where the Tyger came from: heaven or hell. Starting in line 9, the speaker uses powerful imagery to ask again what God could create the Tyger. The diction portrays the Tyger as evil, with a twist[ed] heart (10). Lines 13 16 make up the fourth stanza and compare the creator to a blacksmith. Lines 19 and 20 ask two questions that are different

Mitochondria, rough ER, smooth ER, Peroxisomes, Golgi, and Chloroplasts. In Eukaryotic cells, organelles play a major part in function and maintenance. If parts of these organelles are not functioning properly, or at all, major issues could be caused within that cell. The mitochondria is known as the power house of a cell that functions at the site of respiration. Within the inner membrane, ATP synthesis occurs which provides energy to the cell and it other parts. Without function of a mitochondria, a cell would die; it has no energy to repair itself, has no energy to transport molecules across the membrane, transport nutrients, send signals to other cells, or any other processes. Metabolism, release of energy, movement, or forming new nucleotides would not occur simply because energy is not available. The rough ER is a connected system that is the site of protein synthesis. Proteins are a part of all processes in life including break down of food, aerobic respiration, transport of molecules through the body, glycolysis, DNA replication, DNA folding, and many more. If the rough ER of a cell was non functional, a cell would not produce the proteins needed for these processes, therefore, in a human, many bodily functions would not occur which could eventually lead to death. Plants may also die because their

Religious upheavals over the previous 30 years had deeply divided her subjects. The Elizabethan reign are referred to as a Golden Age. During this time, England and Elizabeth faced several major trials. Because Queen Mary Tudor reinstated her parents marriage, Elizabeth was marked as a bastard child unfit for the crown. This caused a shift in loyalty within the church. As a Protestant, the Catholics were looking for a leader such as Mary Queen of Scots. Especially in the early years of Elizabeth s reign, England always faced the danger of attack from the great Roman Catholic powers, Spain and France, egged on by the Pope. Elizabeth kept the Catholic mass in her own private chapel and sent an ambassador to the Papal Court. Although the Queen and her advisors decided on legislation through the Protestant faith in mind, she made it clear that she would force no one s conscience to conform to the Protestant faith and make no one a martyr in the cause of religion. Queen Elizabeth inherited a military unable to protect a country. However, the House of Tudor had always excelled in propaganda, whether it be within their own country or amongst the surrounding nations. England had little chance of resisting a direct onslaught from them. Elizabeth relied, therefore, on guile, smokescreens, and

According to Burley Allen in Flowerdew and Miller, (2005: 22 23), the importance of listening skills for communication can be seen from the average time people spend in daily communication. People usually spend 35% of their time for speaking, 16% for reading, 9% for writing and 40% for listening. Thus, listening in this matter is the highest skillto use in communication. Listening also plays an important role in language teaching. It provides the aural input that serves the basis of language acquisition and enables learners to interact in spoken communication. The student with good listening skills will be able to participate more effectively in communicative situations, because they are able to understand the message being conveyed. Listening which has been called as the neglected or ignored language art for more than 50 years for it is rarely taught in kindergarten until eighth grade, as a result it is considered as the most difficult skill to be acquired. Listening has an important role in communication, even though it is also an activity that is hard to teach to the students. As Perez, (2000:1811) in Mayor, (2009:1) states that listening is a complex problem solving skill which is difficult to teach and until a few years ago listening has not been accepted as the skill that should be

The rollickingly malicious undertone of these folk verbalizations constitutes what
  • 53. Pasteur And The Chemist In The Academy Of Medicine In Paris The relationship between chemist and the doctors in the Academy of Medicine in Paris is that they both study in the same field of science. Chemist are seen as frauds like Pasteur for advocating doctors to wash their hands and clean their instrument. The doctors targets the well being of humans while chemist specializes in their medication. Dr. Charbonnet believed that diseases appeared within humans similar to how certain forms come from inanimate objects like fleas from dust; this is called spontenous generation. Charbonnet argued that the microbes are the result of disease meaning that the microbes are not the reason for causing an illness but come after someone contracts a disease. Unlike Pasteur s idea, he said that microorganisms are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The variable of the experiment is the vaccination given to the two groups that are in different enclosures. The results were that the vaccine provided by Pasteur prevented the experimented group from dying of anthrax compared to the controlled group. Dr. Joseph Lister was able to reintroduce cleaniness to the medical field. He used carbolic acid to dress a wound to reduce the rate of infection. This relates to Louis Pasteur because the both of them believed in microbes being the reason for disease so they enforce washing your hands and boiling instruments. • 54. Snowboarding Changes It is strange that over time your view on a simple thing, such as snow can change so much over the years. As a child, I loved snow! I loved the way it fell from the sky, falling in swirling patterns as I ran around trying to catch one on my tongue. It was a quite a process for my mother to put all the clothing that she thought was necessary. Once this was done, I would run out and open the gate for the dogs, we owned five, they would stick their nose in the snow then slingshot it towards my direction. We would continue this until I grew tired then I would throw a tennis ball for them. I would throw the ball and watch it get buried in the snow. Then the dogs would run in the general direction the ball was thrown and commenced digging in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After spending two years in a tropical climate, coming home to a dry and cold climate seems cruel. Especially when I have to walk from my apartment to my various classes. But, once again my view on snow has changed once again when my friend invited me to go snowboarding with him. It was the first time that I went snowboarding. I was feeling confident. because I know how to skateboard and I thought I would be able to transition my skills fairly easily. We set out to my roommates house to pick up his cousin and the snow gear for me. From there we went to the resort; once we got all our gear one we walked to the bunny hill lift. It looked simple enough, all you had to do was hold on to a rope that would pull you and the board up the hill. So I was partly strapped in my board ready to grab on the rope. Once I grabbed on the force pulling me forward surprised me, I bent this way and that eventually falling down. This happened two more times until I gave up and walked the rest of the way up the hill. I like to say the bunny hill went better, but it didn t. I soon realized that my skills as a skateboarder did not transition well. I fell many times and there were no signs of me getting better. After we ran the bunny hill a few times my roommate took me to the intermediate sloop. From the bottom of the hill I looked up at the steep slope and I thought I was going to die if I went down that hill. Getting on the lift was not as difficult as I thought, I jusr sat down and slid my board off the hill. The anticipation was building going up the hill, because the lift kept stopping, making the ride even longer. I started out really well, Sliding down the hill is a ziz zag formation. Then I made my first big mistake. I was feeling a little more confident in my skills and decided to go a little faster. Once I decided to do this my snowboard went over a patch of ice. The board slipped out from under my and I rolled und
  • 55. Levels Of Acid-Buffer Titration INTRODUCTION For this experiment, a weak acid buffer titration will be performed. While acids produce hydronium ions in water, bases produce hydroxide ions. To determine how strong an acid or base is, levels of dissociation are observed. While a strong acid or base entirely dissociates in solution, a weak acid or base only partially dissociates in solution. The extent to which a weak acid dissociates in an aqueous solution can be denoted by the constant, Ka, which stands for the ratio in products to reactant. The following equation is used to describe the mentioned ratio in an acid dissociation: Ka= (гЂ–[HгЂ—_3 O^+][A^ ])/([HA]) Acids with larger Ka values dissociate to a greater extent, while those with smaller values dissociate to an inferior extent. To illustrate the dissociation of water molecules, the constant, Kw, is used instead. In case of a pure water sample, only a small amount molecules will form hydronium and hydroxide ions. The formula for the autoionization of water, the process mentioned, can be denoted in the following equilibrium equation: Kw= [H3O+][OH ] in which the value of Kw is equal to 1x10 14, where both H3O+ and OH are equal to 1x10 7 M. In addition, to measure how acidic or basic a solution is, the pH scale is used. An acidic solution has a value that is lower than 7, and has a higher concentration of hydronium ions, meaning a concentration that is higher than 1.0x10 7. A basic solution has value that is greater than 7, and has a lower concentration
