Identifying The Areas Of Law
1. Identify the areas of law that are relevant to the chosen media report, and explain how they are
relevant to the matters outlined in the report.
The article reports on the suing of Norvic Industries, who built a house to lock up stage on the wrong
block, against the Water Corporation who they claim to have caused the mistake first by connecting
water to the wrong lot.
Corporations Law
Both Norvic Industries and Water Corporations were corporations. Not only the formation but also the
administration and management of such companies involve compliance with the Corporations law.
They are bound to act in certain ways in accordance with the Corporations Act. For instance, in the
case example, the Water Corporation could be investigated for how they managed to act unlawfully by
not honouring their obligation with another party.
Contract Law
Many aspects of the case concerns contract law. The Norvic Industries entered a building contract with
a client (Adrian and Linda Webb) in which they have contractual duties to fulfil in building the house
as discussed and stated in the contract. As a result, the Norvic Industries entered another contract with
the Water Corporation to have water connected to a block on Flag Staff Crescent in Secret Harbour.
The detailed rights and obligations of the agreement between these parties would have been included
in the contract. By entering in such contracts, these parties are protected by the contract law.
In the report, the building

The White Man s Burden
The White Man s Burden was a poem written by Rudyard Kipling. Rudyard Kipling was a British
imperial poet, who wanted to respond after the Spanish American war had concluded. His responses
were on America taking over the Philippines, after the war had ended. The White Man s Burden was
made to display European imperialism, during the 19th century. The White Man s Burden was also
written to show motive, on how European turn non whites into the European standard of civilization.

Deforestation Global Scale
This paper will examine the various components of deforestation on a local and global scale. The
following data seen throughout the research paper will analyze the different types of deforestation and
the detrimental impact it leaves on the earth.. I contributed my own data and analysis in analyzing the
time analysis of the concentration of carbon dioxide in the troposphere represented in Figure A. I
created a time analysis map with NASA Giovanni between 1980 and 2002. The time period was
chosen to represent the effects once deforestation began to increase around the 1980s. I also generated
a map of deforestation in California through Global Forest Watch.
II. Introduction
Climate change is such a prevalent topic of concern in modern day that it is important to understand
the contributions to it, deforestation being one of them. Deforestation exacerbates the already negative
consequences of climate change. Forests play a fundamental role in many different aspects of earth
systems and deforestation is decreasing the benefits of forests. Forests cover approximately thirty one
percent of the land cover in the world; however, 46 56 square miles of forestlands are lost each year
(World Wildlife Fund). As technology continues to advance and the world increasingly becomes more
industrialized, deforestation has the potential to get so extreme it will be difficult to go back and fix
the negative effects.
III. Types of Deforestation
There is a wide range of causes of

Developing Good Business Sense
DEVELOPING GOOD BUSINESS SENSE
The three companies that I choose for this project was Burger King, Barnes Noble, and McDonalds. I
observed how the employees do their tasks. I will discuss the main kinds of OMM costs companies
have and how does this affect their OMM operations. Also will be discussing how do companies
design their operating systems to give them a competitive advantage. I will identify which five main
components of operations and materials management costs and the methods companies use to reduce
them.
The primary goal of the operations manager is creating happy and loyal customers. By effectively
analyzing and managing their business s operations, they created the right products with the right
features at the right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To keep distribution costs low they have Soda Company s ship out just syrup and they mix it with
water later. Also each company has their own trademark supplier they use like BK uses Heinz. The
two restaurants use a lot of products in house to keep their operation cost down. The restaurant both
used mass production as their form of operating system by developing a machine to quickly and
inexpensively make their food. When their menu changed to introduce their new line of healthy foods
the company s thousands of restaurant managers had to be retrained, and they had to retrain all of the
employees. They also both have installed clocks in their restaurants to show customers and employees
the time it takes to complete an order, these in turned increase the speed of the service. The employees
are organized the same in the restaurant by communicate. If there is a problem to fix it or a special
order they talk to each other to make sure it is right. Wrong food is wasted money. To keep labor cost
low they schedule their employees based on data of their store. They know when they need extra help
for the lunch rush and for how long. The employees are working in teams. The cooks, baggers, and the
front line, this keeps everyone organize.
The operations in any business covers the universal goal is customer satisfaction, which is achieved
through improving quality, efficiency and ultimately reducing

Why Women Get Involved in Prostitution
Prostitution has been going on for many centuries. Many studies have gone on, researching and trying
to understand on why women get involved with prostitution and the main effects it has on then. Some
report the main causes of early prostitution was due to poverty and deviance. Many see it as a career, a
way to make a living and survive and provide for their families. Studies show that many women
engage themselves in such activities as prostitution by their own choice, forced into it, or because of
their own mental health state. (Chudakov 305)
The start of prostitution started centuries. In the beginning many women were obligated to have sex
with men. Along with citizens from other countries being forced onto cluttered boats to come to ...

Once they have the child they need to find a way to support them. This is where it leads into adult
prostitution and drug dealing in order to support their new family. Once someone is involved in drugs
and prostitution it is very hard for them to get out. They are used to the lifestyle and find it as a type of
addiction. When a person starts prostitution at a young age, they grow into it. They do not learn how
to live a decent and healthy lifestyle. Many teens and adult women who get involved into prostitution
come from poor, abusive families and have very little education. (Flowers 89 91)
A study done by Joanna Phoenix in 2000 discusses women s sustained involvement in prostitution. In
the late twentieth century it is taken for granted that women s involvement in prostitution can be
explained in terms of poverty and/or vulnerability to predatory men. However, closer examination of
the stories that prostitute women recount reveals that their narratives are marked by a paradox that
inheres in the contradictory effects of involvement in prostitution and the antithetical representations
of prostitution offered by the women. (Phoenix 37) In the study Phoenix does not support or go
against either side. Her studies primarily argue that women freely enter into prostitution because of
economic rewards, she also argues that their continued involvement makes sense with in their social
and material conditions in which they live. (Phoenix 38) Secondly

My Reflection Of Friendship
I guess I d just like to take a moment to reflect on our friendship. Actually, before I start, what does a
typical friendship look like? Is there such a thing, or are all of them unique and different? What even
is a friendship ? How does it work? Are we friends ? Since I can t get an answer for now, I ll just be
calling it that from here on in...
It used to be that the topics were lighter, and even though they were somewhat more distant and
irrelevant to daily life, we were in a way closer: We would chat much more often and consistently, you
would walk me home, there were plans to hang out, and overall I was more certain of where we stood.
But now I m less so, the topics are heavier, and you might have noticed that our friendship itself is
more stressful to me, a fact which builds recursively into more anxiety.
Previously, it seemed like a two way and balanced interaction. Now we can easily go for more than a
week without speaking, and unlike in the past, I find myself initiating all of the conversations. Sure,
one could argue that there s a reason for this (which is that our interaction tends to revolve around
questions and answers, and one cannot easily exist without the other already being present), but
somehow it used to be different. So... I really don t want to start chats or topics that you don t want or
don t like, and I m always unsure about this, conscious of it and worrying. That s why I so often ask if
I can even ask before asking, and also the reason I ve

Urinary System Lab Report
The urinary system s primary function is to filter the blood and remove the body s excess ions as well
as waste, all whilst preserving water and other substances the body requires. The major components of
this system are the kidneys, ureters and the urethra [1].
The nervous system receives its continuous supply of nutrients from the blood any disruption to this
flow, and brain damage or death could result. The stability of the internal environment is known as
homeostasis. Under normal circumstances, water consumption and loss vary significantly. Therefore,
it is vital that humans have mechanisms to control this system. In a 70kg person, approximately 60%
of that body weight is water [2].

Tender Napalm by Philip Ridley
Tender Napalm is a play by the celebrated, contemporary British playwright Philip Ridley.1 The play
was published in 2011 and premiered in the Southwark Playhouse in London. Ridley s oeuvre consists
of work in eclectic styles and written for various different audiences (he is a prolific creator of
material for children, as well as plays for adults with difficult and often violent themes). Many
attempts have been made to classify Ridley within the so called in yer face movement within British
theatre, however most critics acknowledge that his plays are unique and often defy classification.2
Tender Napalm features many of the hallmarks of Ridley s writing (violent imagery, obsession with
the power of language, and distorted memories), but the play is perhaps most interesting for its rather
unique structure. This paper will give an overview of the plot of the play and attempt to outline its
main structural elements, before moving towards an analysis of how the structure operates.
Comparisons will be drawn with Aristotle s theories of theatrical structure, in order to examine how
the play s structure sits within traditional models of Western playmaking, but also pushes against them
in innovative ways. Ultimately, this paper will argue that the structure of the play is, in and of itself,
performative. The plot of the play deals in fractured memories and an attempt to re experience the
past, that which is always already absent. The structure of the play functions to disrupt the

Comparing Charles Darwin s Idea Of Evolution And Natural...
Charles Darwin had arguably one of the best ideas anyone has ever had, the idea of evolution and
natural selection. Along with these two ideas, he also noticed that all species are connected through
the tree of life. While Darwin was studying finches in the Galapagos, he noticed each species of finch
had a different type of beak. He latter understood that these different beaks were due to the varying
types of diets of the birds based on what island they came from. The different beaks would help them
open seeds easier or get nectar from flowers. The beaks showed Darwin s idea of natural selection and
survival of the fittest. Darwin realized that the birds were able to change (or evolve) over time, based
on how well their beaks aided in feeding

Hermia s Speech By William Shakespeare
Hermia s speech in Act 2, Scene 2, contains an abundance of dream imagery. She has awoken from a
terrible dream after falling asleep in the forest with Lysander. They were lost and tired and decided to
rest. Lysander wanted to sleep beside her but she refused since they are not yet married and while they
slept Puck applied a love potion on Lysander s eyes thinking he was Demetrius. Lysander wakes and
is repulsed by the sight of Hermia and never wants to see her again because he is now in love with
Helena. Hermia awakes from her terrible dream and retells it thinking that Lysander is nearby
listening. Then she realizes that he is not there and she does not see him anywhere. Hermia expresses
the sentiment that she will find Lysander or she will surely die. She stated, Help me, Lysander, help
me! do thy best To pluck this crawling serpent from my breast! Ay me, for pity! what a dream was
here! Lysander, look how I do quake with fear: Methought a serpent eat my heart away, And you sat

Logo Movie Analysis
Logan: A Stand Out Superhero Movie
In the past few years, the superhero genre has risen into the movie industry. This year alone, six
superhero movies were released. The superhero genre is popular among young adults. While big
studios like Marvel and DC are competing for audiences, many overlook Fox studio, which has been
making critically acclaimed superhero movies like the X Men way before the surge of the genre. The
competition between studios create an oversaturation making it hard for films like Logan to stand, but
it does this and more. Logan not only transcends the superhero genre but also turns the superhero
format on its head. Logan incorporates elements found in the drama, road trip, and western genre and
emphasizes emotion over action. Set in a post apocalyptic future, Logon tells the story of a broken
down Wolverine in his older years, taking care of Charles. Despite his reluctance to engage in any
more conflicts, he is forced to escort Laura, a young girl, to safety. Although Logan may be criticized
for its one dimensional villains and overdone story, director James Mangold, successfully crafted an
excellent film that separates itself from the genre through realistic characters and a simplistic plot.
Most of the time, Logan centralizes on its main characters, so it is understandable that other characters
are not as fleshed out. The villains came off as uninteresting and forgettable. Boyd Holbrook played
Donald Pierce, a generic villain with no reason why he is

Government Shutdown Summary
Jarvis (2014) asserted that during the shutdown, more than one third of the government workforce was
furloughed because their position was not deemed excepted. Government management official was
left to sort out what positions were excepted or non excepted with a mere understanding of contractual
terms (Brass, 2014; Curren, 2015). Rep. Alan Grayson, D Fla., added that the government shutdown
stagnates the economy and disrupts federal employees ability to do their jobs (Katz, 2015). This
literature review will be broken into four sections: (a) government shutdown and power bloc defense
contractors, (b) furloughed government contractors, (c) WLOC, CWB I, and CWB O, and (d) job
satisfaction and performance.

The realistic comparison that connects to monopolistic and oligopolistic structure of defense

shutdown continued to run while other DOD agencies suffered from furlough (Brass, 2014; Hayden et
al., 2010; McPhail, 1991; Sy (2013). In perspective, the top five defense contractors awarded DOD
contracts for year 2007 were Lockheed Martin Corporation $27B, Boeing Company $22B, Northrop
Grumman $14B, General Dynamics $14B, and Raytheon $11B respectfully (Hayden et al., 2010).
Based on McPhail (1991), individual group discontinuity is explicit contrast between intergroup
relations, where Brass (2014) and Sy (2013) debated on intergroup relations distinction between
government shutdown and debt limit impasse. According to Brass (2014), government shutdown is the

Milwaukee Cannibal Research Paper
What s for Supper Tonight? The Story of the Milwaukee Cannibal You re probably wondering who the
Milwaukee Cannibal is, right? This grotesque psychopath has a story like no other. His alibis to lure in
his victims are utterly surprising. Even though this very monstrous man is dead, the story of his grisly
murders will never be forgotten. In the year of 1960, Milwaukee, Wisconsin welcomed a new spawn
of Satan. At the mere age of four, a major procedure was performed on this young child to fix a double
hernia. Soon after at six years old, he moved to Bath, Ohio with his family. At age eight, he was
sexually violated by a neighbor. The town of Bath, Ohio was never the same when the stench of dead
animals reeked from a nearby home. Who was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I am not sure if there is a God or a Devil, I know that as of lately I ve been doing a lot of
thinking about both. (BBC Crime Case Closed Jeffrey Dahmer; quote 4) When Dahmer pled guilty, he
was sentenced to 15 life terms. He seemed at peace with that, was fine with that, because he knew
what he had done. After serving 2 years out of 957, he was murdered by fellow African American
inmate Christopher Scarver. Dahmer was killed instantly when his skull was smashed by a lead pipe.
The date was November 28, 1994. Before his death, Dahmer told authorities, This is the grand finale
of a life poorly spent and the end result is just overwhelmingly depressing. A sick, pathetic, miserable
life story. That s all it is, Dahmer told authorities shortly before his death. I would erase that line and
introduce the quote at the beginning. (Dahmer quotes; final quote) Dahmer was a human being just
like all of us, but the story of his sick murders will still live on. From the stories about his refrigerator

The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn By Mark Twain
HUCKLEBERRY FINN by MARK TWAIN
The protagonist of Huckleberry Finn is the most remarkable character Mark Twain created in all his
writings. Huck is both a symbol of the freedom of the natural man and an individual creature with a
conscience and a basic sense of decency that are supposed to be the products of civilization. He is also
a wild teenager who is at odds with society, religion, work, and even his own father, yet the reader
never questions that Huck is a sensitive, loving human being who is in many respects superior to the
figures of adult authority that try to surround him. For these reasons, Huck finds his closest
friendships with boys his own age like Tom Sawyer or with outcasts from the society of his elders like
the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet there is ample evidence of Huck s basic sense of decency, or rather shame, at his resemblance to
his non account father. Huck even accepts the Widow s forging religious Providence in spite of his low
self esteem:
I judged I could see that there was two Providences, and a poor chap would stand considerable show
with the widow s Providence, but if Miss Watson s got him there warn t no help for him any more. I
thought it all out, and reckoned I would belong to the Widow s if he wanted me, though I couldn t
make out how he was a going to be any better off then than what he was before, seeing I was so
ignorant, and so kind of low down and ornery.
Huck is ignorant in the sense of lacking a formal education, but low down and ornery is the
characterization of his father that Huck sees reflected in himself whenever he fidgets in front of a
mirror. In fact, Huck s greatest virtue is his absolute honesty in his self examination, which overlooks
his fundamental decency and compassion. Huck is actually very different from his father, who is
bigoted and ill tempered, as becomes apparent when Pap shows up to reclaim Huck and the money.
Huck probably would be happier in the wild state in which he lives with his father after the latter
abducts him, however. We sense this is the scenes of his self sufficient existence on the island after he

Advantages Of Extreme Hotel Hacks That You Should Try
Awesome hotel hacks that you should try
Every one of us needs a break from their monotonous life once a while, don t you agree? What better
therapy than a holiday! With a beautiful holiday destination comes the need of booking hotels. Some
of these hotels eat up in your budget and you are forced to compromise on the stay. Now, how good is
a holiday with a compromise? Here are few hacks that can save you some bucks and also give you a
better deal and a comfortable stay.
Make a combo booking
There are many online travel booking sites that offer you a combination like booking a flight and a
hotel. Few sites offer booking of flight, cab as well as a hotel. There are different options and ranges
of flights and hotels that are available on these sites. Depending on the budget and luxury you need,
you can choose your booking. Usually making a combination booking cracks you a better deal than
booking separately. So why spend more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apart from the basic toiletries, breakfast and Wi Fi, sometimes the bookings made might have hidden
offers that you aren t aware of. This has happened to me before; I had free spa in my booking and
wasn t aware of it, till the end of my stay. It is always best to find out at the reception about the
complimentary items included in your booking and enjoy all that you can.
Apart from these, if you are just planning for a holiday with a budget constraint and flexibility of
dates, then you should plan your trips during the off season. The hotel rates are slashed to a great
extent and you might get a luxurious deal in your budget. Sometimes during season, a similar chain of
hotel might offer you a better rate than the one you are looking at. You can always ask them if they are
ready to match up to the other hotel. This usually works with hotels as they do not want their business
to go down because of their

Symptoms And Treatment Of Schizophrenia Essay
Diagnosing psychological disorders has become more prevalent in our society because more people
are willing to seek help regardless of the stigma that comes with having a label. This paper will go in
depth on the psychotic disorder called Schizophrenia. Like the majority of psychological disorders, we
will discuss how a patient is determined to have a mental disorder based on the three criteria based on
distress, impairment, and risk of harm. The neuropsychosocial factors that play a crucial role in the
development of schizophrenia will be addressed. The causes of schizophrenia include frontal lobe
defect, overproduction of dopamine, and genetics which due to a certain degree of stress a person
experiences can trigger any of the neuropsychosocial factors making them vulnerable to developing
the disorder. We will also look at the kind of symptoms a schizophrenic patient possesses and the
therapeutic or medical treatments that they receive in order to achieve a relief of these symptoms. This
research paper is meant to provide possible directions for future research on the causes of
schizophrenia which is still not entirely known and what treatment would be more effective than
medication to provide relief of symptoms since the disorder is incurable.

Economic Growth Out of Recession
In 2007 2009 the recession in the U.S economy was long and deep. At some point the economic
activity was reasonable in 2008, but the economy overtaken by a financial problems that could
improve the economic weaknesses. The economy was recovered in mid of 2009. GDP has been in a
stable path since then, although the jump has been unequal and slowed down in 2011. The high rate of
long term unemployment and the labor rate has decreased the labor market. In the paragraphs below, I
m going to define the fiscal policy and explain how it could resolve the economic paths in the short
term long term. Fiscal policy clarifies how the government could try to use fiscal policy to affect the
economy, and reflects an economy that s experiencing a recession. The government might lower tax
rates to keep economic growth. Also if people are paying less in taxes, they might spend, or invest
more money. After we increase consumer spending or investment, then it will be possible to improve
economic growth. Congress and the Obama administration passed the American recovery and
reinvestment act of 2009 (ARRA). This was a $787 billion package plus $286 billion of tax cuts and $
501 billion of spending increases that relative to what would have helped without (ARRA) is
estimated to have raised real GDP between 1.5% and 4.2% in 2010, but increased real GDP by smaller
amounts in the years that followed. The current macroeconomic concerns includes whether the
economy is in a sustained recovery,

Analysis Of The Book Lament For A Son
Stages of Grief
Introduction
The book, Lament For a Son, written by Nicholas Wolterstorff talks about his pain and grief after
losing his 25 year old son (Joy, 2009). His son died while on a mountain climbing expedition. Dr.
Wolterstorff has several books published during his career as a philosophical theology professor in
Yale Divinity. However, he wrote Lament for a Son with a different journal style since it is a personal
thing for him. The book is similar to a journal as he narrates the events that happened before and after
his son s death. The emotions expressed in the book are common among people who lose close
relatives. What matters is how a person handles the issue. Kubler Ross invented the five stages of
grief; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptancethat explain the escalation of grief when
stricken by bad news (Axelrod, 2004). The paper looks into the book and its relation to the five stages
of grief.
Question 1
As demonstrated by the five stages of grief, Dr. Wolterstorff suffers greatly emotionally as he deals
with his son s death. In a bid to settle his depression, he reads the Bible on similar experiences that
people had (Wolterstorff, 1987). He finds hope after reading and comprehending about Jesus Christ
life, death, and resurrection. The story gives him hope that one day his son, Eric, will resurrect one
day because God has the power to make such things possible. Dr. Wolterstorfffinally accepts the fact
that Eric died, but he will see him in

Marketing Research And Sustainable Management Practice
In such a volatile and complex industry as tourism, marketing research, an integral part of marketing
planning process, plays a crucial role in shaping a framework that guides Destination Management
Organisations (DMOs) decisions, be it public or private. At operational level, market intelligence
would help DMOs gain market insights, bridge the gap between tourism products and visitors and
potentially explore new markets. Without market data, goal and objectives would be unrealistic thus
resulting in inefficient marketing programmes. The report discusses attempts to promote San Juan
Islands an archipelago part of the U.S. state of Washington, through their marketing plan. Drawing on
the marketing process proposed by Middleton et al. (2009) and relevant literatures, what emerges from
the plan is the lack of market data, lack of measurable objectives and lack of sustainable management
practice. As a result, the report recommends a comprehensive marketing research and sustainable
management practice.

The Relationship Of Duddy Kravitz
In the novel, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz written by Mordecai Richler, we meet Duddy

Throughout the novel Duddy meets numerous different people who are either business partners or
people he believes he can get advice from to allow Duddy to gain wealth. Duddy is a well known
culprit of being a person who only looks out for himself in his business relationships. Other people he

figuratively fight to make their way to the top, there were no middle class jobs . It is also very easy to
point towards times when Duddy acted selfish, which is why there is no reason for anyone to believe
that Duddy is successful just because of the people around him. With this being said, there is no
reason to judge anyone for making a reasonable selfish decision in this novel, if it will allow them to

German Appeasement
The French and British appeasement policy towards Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy (irrational
regimes, also include Japan In World War 2) would only aggravate the hidden dangers.
From historical point of view, the British Appeasement policy to Third Reich resulted, to a great
extent, from cooperation and balanced power between Continental States
By Hitler s time (after 1933), it was too late for appeasement the false comfort of appeasement in
sacrifice Czechoslovakia, which has been repeatedly discredited by history, which led Germany to see
dictatorship (Nazi Empire) as a stronger and more effective form of government (Weimar Republic to
Third Reich).
Nuclear Weapons played the important roles during the whole course of US USSR confrontation.

Chipotle also has a very stable financial situation. Currently, their balance sheet contains $301 million
in cash and just $3.81 million in debt exhibiting a high coverage ratio. They also operate at margins
much higher than most of the restaurant industry with a profit margin of 9.43%. Average restaurant
sales have stayed somewhat consistent over the past three years with a very slight increase to about
$1.8 million, but restaurant and company level margins have been increasing consistently since 2005
with restaurants now operating at a 26.4% margin. All this has lead Chipotle to believe that they will

King Louis Xiv Baroque Style Essay
King Louis XIV of France used the Baroque style of art in an effective attempt to represent himself as
an absolute monarch due to many stylistic choices this particular style has that would enable him to
get his power across more effectively than any other style. Most noticeable of all aspects of the
Baroque style is the amount of detail and stuff in the painting. Textures make the fabrics look like real
velvet and silk that are way more expensive than other types of cloth. Realism that the Baroque style
employs helps reinforce the power of an absolute monarch by portraying King Louis as a real force to

The Black Walnut Tree Mary Oliver Summary
In Mary Oliver s The Black Walnut Tree , the tree is conveyed as a symbol of the preservation of
family heritage and as a source of inspiration for trials through Oliver s dramatic shifts in tone and
uplifting diction. The Black Walnut Tree illuminates the idea that preserving history is oftentimes
more important than immediate financial gain.
Throughout The Black Walnut Tree , the speaker is reminded of her forefathers while contemplating
her and her mother s predicament involving the removal of the obstructive tree. In line sixteen, the
poem shifts from a negative tone to a more positive one, for the speaker previously talked about the

The first few lines contain morbid diction such as churn , dark , and smashing in order to set up a
negative tone so that the true value of the tree that is later realized can be emphasized as much as
possible. For example, Oliver later writes that the speaker and her mother feel something brighter that
money moving in their blood, something calling them to dig and sow. The words dig and sow are so
much more positively moving than the negative words in the previous lines, for they call the speaker
and her mother to action while they don t do anything in a period of inaction. Through the previously
mentioned honor of their forefathers, the speaker and her mother are motivated to dig and sow a better
life for their future. Much like crops and trees that only yield fruitful results after a long growing
season, the speaker and her mother become momentarily inspired by all the family heritage and labor
that the walnut tree represents to do something more productive than sitting around and debating on
whether or not to sell their tree. Through the lengthy decision process with the speaker, her mother,
and their tree, Oliver illustrates an example of the money acquired from a quick financial gain being
much less valuable than the potential wealth available through hard work inspired by a symbol of

Miranda Warnings In Criminal Investigations
The first thing to determine is whether the type of questioning is part of a criminal or administrative
investigation (Doerner, 2012). Under Miranda warnings, an officer cannot be compelled to make a
statement or answer questions if they could incriminate themselves criminally. That officer would also
be in a custodial situation and was not free to go. If the officer chooses to make a statement and/or
answer questions, they can be used against the officer in criminal proceedings. It should be standard
practice for investigators to have at least one witness and present the Miranda warnings in writing
which state the following:
1. You have the right to remain silent.
2. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. ... Show more content on

If the officer is unclear about the investigation and type of questioning, the officer should directly ask
if he or she is being ordered to answer questions (Doerner, 2012). If the answer is yes, this forces your
agency to bring into play Garrity rights for the officer, which prevents anything the officer says from
being used against them in a future criminal proceeding (Doerner, 2012). If an officer chooses to not
answer questions, that can be used against them in an administrative proceeding impacting possible
discipline or termination from employment (Doerner, 2012).
To alleviate potential problems, many agencies have put into place legal safeguards or offer similar
grievance protections offered to civilian employees (Doerner, 2012). Furthermore, some states have
recognized the severity of legal ramifications that can occur and have passed legislation known as
Police Officer s Bill of Rights which controls disciplinary investigations (Doerner, 2012).

In 1970s, Eric Charnov s colleagues conducted an experiment on a small bird Parus major, based on
the hypothesis proposed by Eric Charnov and Gordon Orions that a forager s problem to gain
maximum food efficiency, could be broken down into two problems . what to eat and when to stop,
and each could be described by a distinct economic model.
Based on this hypothesis, the Prey model was presented by Charnov and his colleagues David

animals something, the energy that it takes to search.
He suggested that Goals of the Prey model is to characterize the decision making phase. In order to

With 5 birds and testing their initial patterns, they formulated a hypothesis as to which birds will eat

Only anomaly was that zero one rule was not as per the predictions and saw a variance where 85% of

Allen Ginsberg Beat Generation Analysis
In and around the 1950s Allen Ginsberg, along with several other great poets interested in changing
social consciousness and defying conventional writing, became known as the Beat generation. Beat
poetry focuses on the battle against social conformity and literary tradition. These Beat poets, known
for their unconventional lifestyle, unorthodox political views, rowdy behavior, and experimental drug
use, caused a lot of controversy. In Ginsberg s Howl and Other Poems, Ginsberg employs a
particularly confrontational and crude writing style to challenge the heteronormative, nuclear driven
society that promotes the marginalisation and ostracisation of minorities and individuals whose
ideology does not agree with that of the rest of the nation. Ginsberg believes that American society
remains gravely repressed and his writing works to challenge that. Ginsberg, along with the other
poets of the beat generation, introduce all the social taboos of the time such as heterosexual as well as
homosexual sex, drugs, and addiction, into their writings. Ginsberg became one of the most influential
poets in literary history, preaching his personal truths and promoting the idea of breaking the mold of
the idealistic nuclear American society.
Bond 2
At the time Ginsberg began to write, this idea of the perfect family, (working father, stay at home
wife, kids and a dog), had been a widely spread idealistic way of life followed by the mass
mainstream population of America. Although equality of opportunity is central to the concept of the
American Dream, only those who fit the mold of the straight laced American man receive the privilege
of equal opportunity. Ginsberg believes this concept of the idealistic American Dream proceeds to do
nothing but harm minorities much like himself. Ginsberg saw the best minds of [his] generation
destroyed by madness... demanding instantaneous lobotomy... (1 69). The harmful and destructive
ideology of the great American dream remains engraved in our society dating all the way back to The
Bill of Rights, 1789, No person shall be... deprived of life, liberty, or property and Allen Ginsberg
strived to dismantle this falsely constructed ideology. Ginsberg uses his sexaulity as a prime

Analysis Of To Autumn, It Sifts From Leaden Sieves And...
Red and green and gold and orange dance across crisp autumn sky, moved along on the currents of a
steady breeze. Sunlight filters through leaves that still clinging to the towering Oak and Maple trees
along the dirt trail. Little feet pound the ground, compressing the leaves and sending up puffs of dirt,
as a rabbit hops along through the underbrush. He startles a flock of birds which take flight and voice
their anger at being disturbed with a chorus of shrill cawing. The little rabbit continues his journey
occasionally pausing to rummage around in the leaves, but finds nothing to his liking and proceeds
with his hopping. A sudden noise makes him freeze in place. Cautiously, he settles onto his hind legs
and his pink nose along with his ears twitch in search of a clue to what might have caused the
disturbance. Having decided that the danger has passed the rabbit hops up onto a log which spans a
babbling brook. He rests there a moment and allows for the coolness rising from the water to wash
over him. After crossing the stream he stops at the water s edge lapping at the water with his tiny
tongue. Once he has had his fill, he returns to his burrow nestled among a copse sapling maples, deep
within the forest. The seasons of Autumn and Winter are paid tribute in these three sonnets: To
Autumn, It Sifts From Leaden Sieves, and Fall Song written by John Keats, Emily Dickinson and
Mary Oliver respectively. Each makes use of eloquent imagery in order to compose a specific tone;

The Spanish American War Essay
The Spanish American War, also known as The Splendid Little War, was a short lived conflict between
the United States and Spain in 1898. This war was a pretext for the Philippines War. During this time
period Spain had control over several territories within the Caribbean because they were still a
colonial power. Although Spain had control of the territories of Cuba and the Philippines, the
inhabitants began to grow more and more rebellious as time passed. With the tension building between
Spain and its territories, the United States was in a position to become their ally and help them fight to
win their independence and gain territory within the Caribbean and Pacific at the same time. United
States involvement is said to have risen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wetzel (2012) contends that by 1898 some observers thought that 400,000 Cubans had died in these
camps. (p. 408) Because of the reconcentrado policy in Cuba, U.S. public opinion of war was aroused
and war sentiment rose.
Regardless of the armistice McKinley proposed to Spain in Cuba and although McKinley was
informed that the queen of Spain ordered hostilities be suspended, he asked Congress for authority to
intervene in Cuba. Soon after, Congress passed resolves to demand that Spain withdrawal from Cuba.
The U.S. also set terms that they will not withdraw from this island until independence was assured in
Cuba, also known as the Teller Amendment. Congress declared war on Spain by authorizing the
enlistment of volunteer troops and the U.S. instituting a blockade of Spanish ports. (Key Events in the
Spanish American War, 2013, p. 1) As previously mentioned, once the war began, the warfare was
very short lived and one sided. When George Dewey s squadron defeated a Spanish fleet in four hours
in the harbor of Manila, Philippine Islands, this marked one of the first incidents in this war. From this
thorough victory, Dewey became a renowned hero within the United States. It was evident that the
Spanish forces during this engagement were very weak, but during heavy fighting at San Juan Hill
Theodore Roosevelt s Rough Riders gained a reputation. (Key Events in the Spanish American War,
2013, p. 2) The efficacious land and sea assault of Cuba resulted in Spanish

Craddock Cup
The purpose of this case is to illustrate the importance of understanding cost behavior in calculating
the profit/contribution of the Craddock Cup. Within this context, the case asks whether the tournament
should be continued, expanded or dropped. In addition, the case provides a vehicle to discuss
allocation procedures and the concept of sunk costs. Finally, the case furnishes an opportunity to
develop cost volume profit analysis within the context of relevant costs and revenues.
Questions:
1. In determining whether to keep or drop the Craddock Cup, review in detail the overhead expense
allocations currently used by the CYSL. Should the overhead allocations be revised, eliminated or
retained? What are the financial results to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
*Please see Figure 1.2 for profit tables and relevant figures.
After adding an additional 32 teams to the tournament schedule, the relevant revenues including t
shirts, concessions, and soccer clinics doubled while the corporate contribution revenue remained the
same. This brought anticipated revenue for the field of 64 teams to $85,680. The relevant expenses
that don t change include the tournament registration with the YSL, recruiters hotels, the face books,
marketing and advertising costs, as well as the salary of Renee Jantsen; these costs are either fixed
(salary, tournament registration fee, no additional marketing required) or unaffected by the
introduction of the 32 new middle school teams (no additional recruiters because they re uninterested
in the middle school players, face books aren t made for the middle school players). The relevant
expenses that do change include the cost of the t shirts, concession, the soccer clinic, the player
insurance, referees, and trophies; all of these are variable costs, and thus double when the amount of
competing teams doubles. There is also a new cost for the rental of the 6 additional fields from the
local school necessary to host 64 teams (($150/field + $60 goalposts/field) * 6 fields * 2 days=
$2,520). All of those costs add up to $69,046 for our total expenses category. Using our new revenue
and expenses, the profit on the field of 64 teams is

The article reports on the suing of Norvic Industries, who built a house to lock up stage on the wrong block, against the Water Corporation who they claim to have caused the mistake first by connecting water to the wrong lot. Corporations Law Both Norvic Industries and Water Corporations were corporations. Not only the formation but also the administration and management of such companies involve compliance with the Corporations law. They are bound to act in certain ways in accordance with the Corporations Act. For instance, in the case example, the Water Corporation could be investigated for how they managed to act unlawfully by not honouring their obligation with another party. Contract Law Many aspects of the case concerns contract law. The Norvic Industries entered a building contract with a client (Adrian and Linda Webb) in which they have contractual duties to fulfil in building the house as discussed and stated in the contract. As a result, the Norvic Industries entered another contract with the Water Corporation to have water connected to a block on Flag Staff Crescent in Secret Harbour. The detailed rights and obligations of the agreement between these parties would have been included in the contract. By entering in such contracts, these parties are protected by the contract law. The following data seen throughout the research paper will analyze the different types of deforestation and the detrimental impact it leaves on the earth.. I contributed my own data and analysis in analyzing the time analysis of the concentration of carbon dioxide in the troposphere represented in Figure A. I created a time analysis map with NASA Giovanni between 1980 and 2002. The time period was chosen to represent the effects once deforestation began to increase around the 1980s. I also generated a map of deforestation in California through Global Forest Watch. II. Introduction Climate change is such a prevalent topic of concern in modern day that it is important to understand the contributions to it, deforestation being one of them. Deforestation exacerbates the already negative consequences of climate change. Forests play a fundamental role in many different aspects of earth systems and deforestation is decreasing the benefits of forests. Forests cover approximately thirty one percent of the land cover in the world; however, 46 56 square miles of forestlands are lost each year (World Wildlife Fund). As technology continues to advance and the world increasingly becomes more industrialized, deforestation has the potential to get so extreme it will be difficult to go back and fix the negative effects. Many studies have gone on, researching and trying to understand on why women get involved with prostitution and the main effects it has on then. Some report the main causes of early prostitution was due to poverty and deviance. Many see it as a career, a way to make a living and survive and provide for their families. Studies show that many women engage themselves in such activities as prostitution by their own choice, forced into it, or because of their own mental health state. Many teens and adult women who get involved into prostitution come from poor, abusive families and have very little education. (Flowers 89 91) A study done by Joanna Phoenix in 2000 discusses women s sustained involvement in prostitution. In the late twentieth century it is taken for granted that women s involvement in prostitution can be explained in terms of poverty and/or vulnerability to predatory men. However, closer examination of the stories that prostitute women recount reveals that their narratives are marked by a paradox that inheres in the contradictory effects of involvement in prostitution and the antithetical representations of prostitution offered by the women. (Phoenix 37) In the study Phoenix does not support or go against either side. Her studies primarily argue that women freely enter into prostitution because of economic rewards, she also argues that their continued involvement makes sense with in their social and material conditions in which they live. • 10. My Reflection Of Friendship I guess I d just like to take a moment to reflect on our friendship. Actually, before I start, what does a typical friendship look like? Is there such a thing, or are all of them unique and different? What even is a friendship ? How does it work? Are we friends ? Since I can t get an answer for now, I ll just be calling it that from here on in... It used to be that the topics were lighter, and even though they were somewhat more distant and irrelevant to daily life, we were in a way closer: We would chat much more often and consistently, you would walk me home, there were plans to hang out, and overall I was more certain of where we stood. But now I m less so, the topics are heavier, and you might have noticed that our friendship itself is more stressful to me, a fact which builds recursively into more anxiety. Previously, it seemed like a two way and balanced interaction. Now we can easily go for more than a week without speaking, and unlike in the past, I find myself initiating all of the conversations. Sure, one could argue that there s a reason for this (which is that our interaction tends to revolve around questions and answers, and one cannot easily exist without the other already being present), but somehow it used to be different. So... I really don t want to start chats or topics that you don t want or don t like, and I m always unsure about this, conscious of it and worrying. Urinary System Lab Report The urinary system s primary function is to filter the blood and remove the body s excess ions as well as waste, all whilst preserving water and other substances the body requires. The major components of this system are the kidneys, ureters and the urethra [1]. The nervous system receives its continuous supply of nutrients from the blood any disruption to this flow, and brain damage or death could result. The stability of the internal environment is known as homeostasis. Under normal circumstances, water consumption and loss vary significantly. • 15. Tender Napalm by Philip Ridley Tender Napalm is a play by the celebrated, contemporary British playwright Philip Ridley.1 The play was published in 2011 and premiered in the Southwark Playhouse in London. Ridley s oeuvre consists of work in eclectic styles and written for various different audiences (he is a prolific creator of material for children, as well as plays for adults with difficult and often violent themes). Many attempts have been made to classify Ridley within the so called in yer face movement within British theatre, however most critics acknowledge that his plays are unique and often defy classification.2 Tender Napalm features many of the hallmarks of Ridley s writing (violent imagery, obsession with the power of language, and distorted memories), but the play is perhaps most interesting for its rather unique structure. This paper will give an overview of the plot of the play and attempt to outline its main structural elements, before moving towards an analysis of how the structure operates. Comparisons will be drawn with Aristotle s theories of theatrical structure, in order to examine how the play s structure sits within traditional models of Western playmaking, but also pushes against them in innovative ways. Ultimately, this paper will argue that the structure of the play is, in and of itself, performative. The plot of the play deals in fractured memories and an attempt to re experience the past, that which is always already absent. The structure of the play functions to disrupt the ... Along with these two ideas, he also noticed that all species are connected through the tree of life. While Darwin was studying finches in the Galapagos, he noticed each species of finch had a different type of beak. He latter understood that these different beaks were due to the varying types of diets of the birds based on what island they came from. The different beaks would help them open seeds easier or get nectar from flowers. The beaks showed Darwin s idea of natural selection and survival of the fittest. Darwin realized that the birds were able to change (or evolve) over time, based on how well their beaks aided in feeding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hermia awakes from her terrible dream and retells it thinking that Lysander is nearby listening. Then she realizes that he is not there and she does not see him anywhere. Hermia expresses the sentiment that she will find Lysander or she will surely die. She stated, Help me, Lysander, help me! do thy best To pluck this crawling serpent from my breast! Ay me, for pity! what a dream was here! Lysander, look how I do quake with fear: Methought a serpent eat my heart away, And you sat smiling at his cruel pray. Lysander! what, removed? Lysander! lord! • 21. Logo Movie Analysis Logan: A Stand Out Superhero Movie In the past few years, the superhero genre has risen into the movie industry. This year alone, six superhero movies were released. The superhero genre is popular among young adults. While big studios like Marvel and DC are competing for audiences, many overlook Fox studio, which has been making critically acclaimed superhero movies like the X Men way before the surge of the genre. The competition between studios create an oversaturation making it hard for films like Logan to stand, but it does this and more. Logan not only transcends the superhero genre but also turns the superhero format on its head. Logan incorporates elements found in the drama, road trip, and western genre and emphasizes emotion over action. Set in a post apocalyptic future, Logon tells the story of a broken down Wolverine in his older years, taking care of Charles. Despite his reluctance to engage in any more conflicts, he is forced to escort Laura, a young girl, to safety. Although Logan may be criticized for its one dimensional villains and overdone story, director James Mangold, successfully crafted an excellent film that separates itself from the genre through realistic characters and a simplistic plot. Most of the time, Logan centralizes on its main characters, so it is understandable that other characters are not as fleshed out. The villains came off as uninteresting and forgettable. This paper will go in depth on the psychotic disorder called Schizophrenia. The neuropsychosocial factors that play a crucial role in the development of schizophrenia will be addressed. The causes of schizophrenia include frontal lobe defect, overproduction of dopamine, and genetics which due to a certain degree of stress a person experiences can trigger any of the neuropsychosocial factors making them vulnerable to developing the disorder. We will also look at the kind of symptoms a schizophrenic patient possesses and the therapeutic or medical treatments that they receive in order to achieve a relief of these symptoms. This research paper is meant to provide possible directions for future research on the causes of schizophrenia which is still not entirely known and what treatment would be more effective than medication to provide relief of symptoms since the disorder is incurable. • 30. Analysis Of The Book Lament For A Son Stages of Grief Introduction The book, Lament For a Son, written by Nicholas Wolterstorff talks about his pain and grief after losing his 25 year old son (Joy, 2009). His son died while on a mountain climbing expedition. Dr. Wolterstorff has several books published during his career as a philosophical theology professor in Yale Divinity. However, he wrote Lament for a Son with a different journal style since it is a personal thing for him. The book is similar to a journal as he narrates the events that happened before and after his son s death. The emotions expressed in the book are common among people who lose close relatives. What matters is how a person handles the issue. Kubler Ross invented the five stages of grief; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptancethat explain the escalation of grief when stricken by bad news (Axelrod, 2004). The paper looks into the book and its relation to the five stages of grief. Question 1 As demonstrated by the five stages of grief, Dr. Wolterstorff suffers greatly emotionally as he deals with his son s death. In a bid to settle his depression, he reads the Bible on similar experiences that people had (Wolterstorff, 1987). He finds hope after reading and comprehending about Jesus Christ life, death, and resurrection. The story gives him hope that one day his son, Eric, will resurrect one day because God has the power to make such things possible. • 31. Marketing Research And Sustainable Management Practice In such a volatile and complex industry as tourism, marketing research, an integral part of marketing planning process, plays a crucial role in shaping a framework that guides Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) decisions, be it public or private. At operational level, market intelligence would help DMOs gain market insights, bridge the gap between tourism products and visitors and potentially explore new markets. Without market data, goal and objectives would be unrealistic thus resulting in inefficient marketing programmes. The report discusses attempts to promote San Juan Islands an archipelago part of the U.S. state of Washington, through their marketing plan. Drawing on the marketing process proposed by Middleton et al. (2009) and relevant literatures, what emerges from the plan is the lack of market data, lack of measurable objectives and lack of sustainable management practice. As a result, the report recommends a comprehensive marketing research and sustainable management practice. 2. The first few lines contain morbid diction such as churn , dark , and smashing in order to set up a negative tone so that the true value of the tree that is later realized can be emphasized as much as possible. For example, Oliver later writes that the speaker and her mother feel something brighter that money moving in their blood, something calling them to dig and sow. The words dig and sow are so much more positively moving than the negative words in the previous lines, for they call the speaker and her mother to action while they don t do anything in a period of inaction. Through the previously mentioned honor of their forefathers, the speaker and her mother are motivated to dig and sow a better life for their future. Much like crops and trees that only yield fruitful results after a long growing season, the speaker and her mother become momentarily inspired by all the family heritage and labor that the walnut tree represents to do something more productive than sitting around and debating on whether or not to sell their tree. Through the lengthy decision process with the speaker, her mother, and their tree, Oliver illustrates an example of the money acquired from a quick financial gain being much less valuable than the potential wealth available through hard work inspired by a symbol of family ... • 39. Miranda Warnings In Criminal Investigations The first thing to determine is whether the type of questioning is part of a criminal or administrative investigation (Doerner, 2012). Under Miranda warnings, an officer cannot be compelled to make a statement or answer questions if they could incriminate themselves criminally. That officer would also be in a custodial situation and was not free to go. If the officer chooses to make a statement and/or answer questions, they can be used against the officer in criminal proceedings. If the officer is unclear about the investigation and type of questioning, the officer should directly ask if he or she is being ordered to answer questions (Doerner, 2012). If the answer is yes, this forces your agency to bring into play Garrity rights for the officer, which prevents anything the officer says from being used against them in a future criminal proceeding (Doerner, 2012). If an officer chooses to not answer questions, that can be used against them in an administrative proceeding impacting possible discipline or termination from employment (Doerner, 2012). To alleviate potential problems, many agencies have put into place legal safeguards or offer similar grievance protections offered to civilian employees (Doerner, 2012). • 42. Allen Ginsberg Beat Generation Analysis In and around the 1950s Allen Ginsberg, along with several other great poets interested in changing social consciousness and defying conventional writing, became known as the Beat generation. Beat poetry focuses on the battle against social conformity and literary tradition. These Beat poets, known for their unconventional lifestyle, unorthodox political views, rowdy behavior, and experimental drug use, caused a lot of controversy. In Ginsberg s Howl and Other Poems, Ginsberg employs a particularly confrontational and crude writing style to challenge the heteronormative, nuclear driven society that promotes the marginalisation and ostracisation of minorities and individuals whose ideology does not agree with that of the rest of the nation. Ginsberg believes that American society remains gravely repressed and his writing works to challenge that. Ginsberg, along with the other poets of the beat generation, introduce all the social taboos of the time such as heterosexual as well as homosexual sex, drugs, and addiction, into their writings. Ginsberg became one of the most influential poets in literary history, preaching his personal truths and promoting the idea of breaking the mold of the idealistic nuclear American society. Bond 2 At the time Ginsberg began to write, this idea of the perfect family, (working father, stay at home wife, kids and a dog), had been a widely spread idealistic way of life followed by the mass mainstream population of America. Although equality of opportunity is central to the concept of the American Dream, only those who fit the mold of the straight laced American man receive the privilege of equal opportunity. Ginsberg believes this concept of the idealistic American Dream proceeds to do nothing but harm minorities much like himself. • 43. Analysis Of To Autumn, It Sifts From Leaden Sieves And... Red and green and gold and orange dance across crisp autumn sky, moved along on the currents of a steady breeze. Sunlight filters through leaves that still clinging to the towering Oak and Maple trees along the dirt trail. Little feet pound the ground, compressing the leaves and sending up puffs of dirt, as a rabbit hops along through the underbrush. He startles a flock of birds which take flight and voice their anger at being disturbed with a chorus of shrill cawing. The little rabbit continues his journey occasionally pausing to rummage around in the leaves, but finds nothing to his liking and proceeds with his hopping. A sudden noise makes him freeze in place. Cautiously, he settles onto his hind legs and his pink nose along with his ears twitch in search of a clue to what might have caused the disturbance. Having decided that the danger has passed the rabbit hops up onto a log which spans a babbling brook. He rests there a moment and allows for the coolness rising from the water to wash over him. After crossing the stream he stops at the water s edge lapping at the water with his tiny tongue. Once he has had his fill, he returns to his burrow nestled among a copse sapling maples, deep within the forest. The seasons of Autumn and Winter are paid tribute in these three sonnets: To Autumn, It Sifts From Leaden Sieves, and Fall Song written by John Keats, Emily Dickinson and Mary Oliver respectively. Regardless of the armistice McKinley proposed to Spain in Cuba and although McKinley was informed that the queen of Spain ordered hostilities be suspended, he asked Congress for authority to intervene in Cuba. Soon after, Congress passed resolves to demand that Spain withdrawal from Cuba. The U.S. also set terms that they will not withdraw from this island until independence was assured in Cuba, also known as the Teller Amendment.
