Data Tabulation Model
Detailed description of the duties:
Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC), a multidisciplinary non profit
organization, who has developed standards to support the acquisition, exchange, submission, and
archival of clinical research data and metadata. Metadata is the data of the data entered. This
includes data about the individual who made the entry or a change in the clinical data, the date and
time of entry/change and details of the changes that have been made. Among the standards, two
important ones are the Study Data Tabulation Model Implementation Guide for Human Clinical
Trials (SDTMIG) and the Clinical Data AcquisitionStandards Harmonization (CDASH) standards.

African American Coming of Age in Mississippi Essay
Coming of Age In Mississippi
The 1950 s and 1960 s remains the most controversial and momentous decades for the nation to this
day. The civil rights movement was to end racial segregation and end all prejudice against African
Americans. Whether it was voting rights, rights to sit wherever one liked, or to love someone
outside of one s race; racist people at this time were reluctant to have equality. These civil rights
movements challenged and demanded to be heard through protest and nonviolent activity. However,
these protests never were noted and were completely shut down by authorities and other racist
bystanders. Americans and their confidence in their way of ignorance was most certainly
challenged during this time; how could one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was challenging to ignore; these images circled the nation showing African Americanpeople who
were dignified and hopeful, dedicating their lives to shape destinies.
There were many tactics and strategies that were adopted by the civil rights movement. African
Americans would advocate for equality by sit ins, freedom rides, speeches/rallies, and with the
media. For example, there was a decision made by four North Carolina freshman to sit at the
lunch counter of a local restaurant to initiate a new phase of civil rights activity. This sit in was
called the Jackson Sit In and it caused an outbreak of new black college students from all areas
of the South to make a difference too. Among them was the author of Coming of Age in
Mississippi, Anne Moody. This protest was depicted as being horrific and dangerous to the young
lives of these college students. In Takin to the Streets, Anne Moody tells the Jackson Sit In in her
own words; We would like to be served here I said. The waitress started to repeat what she had said,
then stopped in the middle of the sentence. She turned the lights out behind the counter, and she
and the other waitress almost ran to the back of the store, deserting all their white customers. I
guess they thought that violence would start immediately after the whites at the counter realized
what was going on. (Page 18, Takin It To The Streets.) This quote in the third edition of the sixties
reader is significant because it perfectly

The Melting Point And Boiling Point
Results The results show that the highest melting point was 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid and the lowest
melting point was Sulfosalicylic Acid. The highest boiling point was Octanol and lowest boiling
point was Methanol. When it came to the percent error the highest percent error calculated was
pentanol and the lowest percent error was Propanol.
Discussion
During this lab the melting point ranges and boiling points were recorded from several
substances. Based upon the structures of these various samples certain trends were expected to
be followed. For example, with the melting points of pure substances are usually higher than the
melting points of impure substances. In this lab the melting point of Benzoic Acid, Salicylic
Acid, 3 Hydroxybenzoic Acid, 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid, and Sulfosalicylic Acid were taken. If we
apply the concept of pure substances having higher boiling points, it was expected for substances
like 3 Hydroxybenzoic Acid and 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid to have higher melting points and for
substances like Benzoic Acid and Salicylic Acid to have lower melting points. As for Sulfosalicylic
Acid, its melting point was the lowest so it was assumed that the substance was the most impure. It
was proven that the fewer impurities call for higher melting points. This is due to the crystalline
lattices structure of repeating ions or molecules. This lattice is held together by intermolecular
forces that create a strong, stable structure. The solid must be heated to a certain

Cremation versus Burial Essay example
Cremation vs. Burial
Today the society is looking for ways to ease life and to find solutions for problems which oppress
our lives and make it hard to live through. Because of many reasons, the traditional burials in this
century are becoming a problem. (Prothero,2001). The fact that they cover a lot of land to build
cemeteries and other things that are attached to these traditional burials is enough for us to search
for a practical solution. About a century ago the term cremation was unknown to many people. It is
believed that it began to be practiced during the early Stone Age and still exists today. Since that
time cremations have been made all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of people are paying for insurance by which a great part of the payment goes for covering
the expenses for their funerals all together with goods and services connected with it. Moreover,
these costs are very high not only in the Balkans, but in every country where there is not a
crematorium built. (D.J, 2014). The average cost of funeral services, today costs considerably
more than 1000 $ here in the Balkans while in the US, UK , Japan, Canada and many other
countries the price can reach up to 6,500 $. On the other hand the average costs of cremation
including a basic memorial service costs from 1600 $ to 3000 $ but the prices vary which
means that they can be lowered to 800 or 600 $ since you can choose the quality material of the
casket and the services provided along with it. Nonetheless, basic cremation is very simple, much
less expensive and you don`t have to add the cost of hearse, embalming, paper work, casket and
grave purchase. With cremation, you only have to pay for the service, casket the urn and everything
is resolved.
When burying a dead body into the ground there are several processes of decomposition going on
that leave out foul odor deep into the ground that can cause diseases spread and completely
contaminate the whole area depending on the scope that the cemeteries cover. The effects of these

Six Flags Narrative
On a warm Saturday afternoon in June of 2006, my parents and I took on a trip to Six Flags. We
were suppose to be on line for the ride Batman but accidentally ended up on Nitro . That accident
helped save years of a life. As my dad was buckling up for Nitro, the belt just didn t seem right with
his stomach. From then on, Nitro turned to Chemo.
The next day was Father s Day and my dad wouldn t get out of bed. He had horrible stomach

day he called my mother at work and said something was seriously wrong. She rushed home and
they went to the hospital.

What Is The Most Memorable Moment In A Movie
Lights, Curtain, Action
The lights dimmed, the curtain lifted, and the actors came out. My excitement was growing, first
starting in my throat, then working its way to my stomach. The sound of the instruments filled the
theater as the actors start to sing in loud clear voices. This was how my most memorable moment
in my childhood started, at the Times Union Center Theater in the last week of February.
My interest in theater started when I was a little girl. In particular, it was a movie that started this
love. I can still remember the day my father brought home that movie, The Phantom of the Opera. It
was the first musical I watched that was not Disney. After watching it, I felt overwhelmed with all
the emotions expressed in the movie. Of course, being as young as I was then, I was unable to quite
understand the meaning in the movie but that was not a problem. I was more interested in the
singing and dancing that was shown throughout the movie. It was this musical that influenced me to
pursue a career in theater and movies.
Even though I loved the musical so much I never did see it live. My family could not afford to
buy tickets and very rarely did the show come to my hometown. That is until I was 17 when they
came to the Times Union Center in Jacksonville. My sister and I were thrilled, but instantly our
excitement died when we remembered that we do not have the money for tickets. The both of us
decided to start coming up with ways to earn money, such as extra chores and odd jobs around the
neighborhood. Slowly but surely we began to earn money.
By the end of December, we were still short a couple hundred bucks and seats were selling out
quickly. It was Christmas Day when the most wonderful thing happened. My family was opening
up presents and it was my turn to open mines. My father handed me this large present and inside
was a slightly smaller present and inside that was an even smaller present which inside contained
an envelope. Inside of that envelope was a Christmas card with the inside saying Soak up this
moment! Clipped to the side of the card was three tickets to The Phantom of the Opera. I was
overjoyed, I let out a little squeal and could not stop thanking my parents. Finally, I can see the

The 2003 U.S. led invasion removed Saddam Hussein, an authoritarian from the Sunni minority
who governed over a Shia majority country. After the American invasion, Phase IV, the occupation
of Iraq was established to aid Iraq in developing a new democratic regime. Iraqi inhabitants were
strongly opposed to having American forces rehabilitate their country, especially after Operation
Peninsula Strike. The operation involved the U.S. troops pursuing members of the Fedayeen

Analysis Of Cathedral By Raymond Carver
A New Perspective Everyone at one point has judged a book by its cover. In the short story,
Cathedral , Raymond Carver creates a narrator who bases off ideas and assumptions about blind
people from movies. The narrator has never interacted with a blind person before the day where
his wife invites her friend, who is named Robert, to stay. The narrator and Robert have never
met, but the narrator has a strong dislike towards Robert before meeting. The narrator s closed
mindedness and misconceptions leads him to judge Robert, however after a few hours of
interaction, the narrator learns more about him and grows to have a new perspective about people
not being who they think they are. The narrator is pre judgemental towards all people who are
blind, whether or not he has met them. He believes all blind people are the same as those he has
watched in movies. The narrator perception of the blindis that they moved slowly and never
laughed and when they went out they were led by seeing eye dogs (Carver 104). The movie
industry creates a false image of the blind, which leads to the narrator s assumptions. However,
the blind are not all the same, just like how everyone else in the world are not the same. People
are designed to be different in their personalities, thoughts, looks and much more. The narrator s
ideas of Robert are based off of false conceptions and this changes his attitude towards Robert. The
narrator already has strong feelings towards Robert before meeting him

The Importance Of The Tenure System In Education
The best teachers bring out their students knowledge. A good teacher makes students more
interested in their lectures. However, these teachers sometimes get fired because they are hired
later than the other teachers who have been working for a longer period of time. This is due to the
Tenure System that keeps teachers from being fired when they teach at a schoolfor a certain amount
of time. Therefore, should the tenuresystem in public schools be eliminated? Some argue that
tenure protects teachers from unfair dismissal; for instance, when teaching unpopular ideas. Also,
it would be unfair to fire teachers in order to save expense, due to the fact that older teachers get
paid more because of their experience. Other people agree that the tenure system in public schools
should be eliminated to keep teachers working hard to improve their knowledge, teaching skills,
and responsiveness. In order to improve the quality of the education, performance should be more
important than length of service; therefore, the tenure system in public schools should be eliminated.
The tenure system should be eliminated to protect the best teachers. There are many circumstances
that allow ineffective teachers to be kept at the schools because of the tenure system. For example,
many teachers cannot explain concepts clearly or give wrong information to their students while
they are giving their lectures in the classroom, but they are still teaching at the school.
Consequently, according to Jason

Then you attack it (Garreau 28 30). Organizations such as DARPA and CAP strive to make
unstoppable human beings. For instance, take the well developed movie Gattaca which came to
theaters in 2010 and was about a man that manipulates his DNA to hide his identity to be a more
advanced, genetically engineered, human being. No one is capable of stopping him from
becoming a better meaningful species to society. Most Americans strive to build themselves up
to become the best they can be. Americans study the use of DNA manipulation in bodies and
cells to help fight off diseases and illnesses such as the common cold or flu. Goldblatt proclaims,
We do not fear the unknown, and we relish exploring the unknowable (Garreau 19). Americans
should be more like this quote and strive to become the best species that has ever existed.
DARPA is studying a vaccine that will help in pain management. Such vaccines will make
milestones in terms of medicine. If someone is hurt they will feel the first trigger of pain but the
pain will soon subside (Garreau 19 28). This pain vaccine will have many benefits to Americans
dealing with diseases and to society.

Cal Mccaffrey Ethical Issues Essay
Journalists are required to hold up certain ethical and legal responsibilities while on the job.
They are not supposed to have conflicts of interest, can not trespass, have to minimize harm,
avoid invasion of privacy, etc. While watching, State of Play we constantly see Cal McCaffrey, a
journalist for the Washington Globe and the main character, break ethical and legal
responsibilities that journalists are supposed to hold up. Specifically, he trespasses, has a huge
conflict of interest, and invades the privacy of others. We learn early on in the film that
McCaffrey has a conflict of interest with the story he is reporting on. Stephen Collins, a Senator
from Pennsylvania, is McCaffrey s old college roomate whom he has stayed in touch with for
years. He also had an affair with Collins wife. When the story hits that Collins may have had an
affair with Sonia Baker, his head researcher, McCaffrey does not say anything. The editor of the
paper says to McCaffrey, Why do you only bring me stories about Collins when he is looking for
good publicity before an election? McCaffrey does not really say anything to this and does not
report on the story. However, when the story that McCaffrey is working becomes connected to the
Collins Affair story, he tries to help Collins and gives him many opportunities to get ahead of things
that he would not do for anything else.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One specific time comes to mind when he goes to the Medical Examiner s office to try and get

belongings and takes down some numbers from his cell phone. This is not ethical, or legal, once
again McCaffrey disobeys the legal system and the ethics of

Nick blows out a sigh. Okay, if that s what you want. Amy? Is it? ... This is the last I ll hear about
the bed, Amy? Because I m offering right now. I m happy to pack the bed for you (101): Nick and
Amy Dunne are moving from their New York home back to Nick s childhood town in Missouri in
order to take care of Nick s ailing mother. This quote is a classic example of Nick asking Amy
what she wants, but Amy expects him to know the correct answer on his own. She doesn t tell
him what she really wants. Amy wants Nick to know that she would like at least the comfort of her
own bed in a new place. Instead of saying this, however, she is passive aggressive and tells him to
leave it because he already promised the bed to one of his friends. This quote is in one of Amy s
diary entries, which is later revealed as an unreliable source. So we do not know for sure if Nick is
being mean to her, like Amy makes it seem, or if he is genuinely asking her what she wants to do.

and resentful of Amy and wants to get a divorce. He partially blames Amy for making him feel
more like his father by hating women, but also blames himself for acting like someone he s not.
He was acting like a better man than he usually was when he first met Amy, and when he could
not keep up with the charade, Amy was not pleased with the results. The civil war within Nick

History Of The Women s Suffrage Movement
There will never be complete equality until women themselves help to make laws and elect
lawmakers. This is a quote from Susan B. Anthony acknowledging the women s suffrage
movement. After the abolition of slavery in 1865, voting rights were extended to all citizens,
however citizens in this case meant, men only. As a result of only men having voting rights, women
started advocating the women s suffrage movement. The women s suffrage movement or woman
suffrage was the struggle for women to vote and run for office. This movement began in 1848 and it
continued until 1920. There were many women involved in this movement, but the two most
important women were Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Susan and Elizabeth

Many men who went against women voting would argue that women should stay home and

because 90% of the women either do not want it, or do not care . This things were written in a
pamphlet published in 1910 by the organization, National Association Opposed to Woman
Suffrage. Artists created political cartoons that mocked suffragists, religious leaders opposed
women who were part of the women s suffrage movement, and articles also criticized woman
who took part in this movement. On the other hand, many men supported suffragists. Men such

George Francis Train helped Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton by funding their

Tokugawa Feudal System
The Tokugawa period , was the Ending Time of medieval Japan. A time of peace for Japan
Under the Shoguns . The Period lasted from 1603 to 1868 During this period Japan was Known

The Role Of Desirable Personality Traits On The Formation...
Not surprisingly, a leader s personality is a major component of how he leads his subordinates
and his success in such an endeavor. To make a difficult task more even more intricate,
leadership involves interacting with individuals ranging from a few to a few hundred strong, all
with personalities and circumstances in life equally complex as the leader himself. Despite the
odds against them, stories of excellent leaders are ubiquitous and consist of many different
types of people doing the leading in many walks of life. In addition to the anecdotal evidence
supporting the role of desirable personality traits being involved in the formation of a good
leader it can be seen through experience and history that certain traits are more beneficial than
others. Especially when the scope is narrowed down to more specific career paths, personalities
and their desired traits can be determined more effectively. This is particularly accurate when
examining military professionals, a group whose history, successes, and failures are closely
recorded in texts throughout the ages. In my own endeavor to establish a base from which to
dissect my personality and how it plays into my role as a second class cadet at USAFA and in
the future I took a Big 5 personality test and asked several peers, subordinates, and past leaders to

The Five Army Branches
Throughout history, any established government has always maintained a militant force to defend
their land and if need be, attack other regions or nations. However before the United States was
founded on 4 Jul 1776, there was a militant force. That militant force was officially considered the
United States Army and was established in 14 Jun 1775. As time progressed from the founding of
the nation to current day, the militaryhas progressed as well. Specifically, there are five branches
that comprise the military: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and the Navy. There are
different requirements to join each respected branch and different standards of living that come
with joining the respected branch. When beginning the journey to enlist in the military a
prerequisite is taking the ASVAB; this is the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test.
Every member attempting to enlist must take this test, however there are minimum score

How Does Atwood Use Language In The Handmaids Tale
How does Atwood presents the importance of language in The Handmaid s Tale? Throughout
the novel, we see evidence of indoctrination in all of the characters. This indoctrination process
appears to be primarily carried out by Gilead s manipulation of language among its residents.
Language is a powerful tool in shaping our thoughts and how we behave; the control and
exploitation of discourse in the regime shows us not only this, but also how language can
provide power as well as take it away. Gilead s government relies heavily on language from the
bible to help maintain its theocratic dictatorship. It does this by taking religious quotes such as
Give me children or else I die out of context and bending the meaning to impose their ideologies.
A quote that is made to be taken quite literally in Gilead as the women are told it is their sole
purpose to reproduce and if they do not they are an unwoman a disturbing term which implies that

Deer Hunting
Week 7 (Assignment 6)
The Way to a Good Deer
English
November 22, 2011
Deer hunting is a very demanding hobby. The one thing that everyone must keep in mind when
hunting is your safety and the safety of others. The reason for this is that you are using a weapon
that can cause serious harm to you or someone, but this is not what this essay is about. I want
everyone to actually learn what it takes to be a hunter. Being a hunter takes skill and understanding
how deer sense things.
The first thing that comes to everyone s mind when thinking about hunting is killing Bambie. This
is not the way I think, because of how I was raised. I took up hunting at an early age. I would
always go with my father. So, here is what I have learned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Gender, Race, And Ethnicity And Power Essay
Society is complex and diverse. In such a diverse society, individuals may have different life
experiences to one another. While some individuals have positive viewpoints in the society, others
may differ in an negative aspect. In this socio autobiography, I argue that the society is an
nightmare as humans develop a whole range of complex sociological concepts. The following
paragraphs will explain the struggle of my life experiences being influenced by using the concepts
of gender, race and ethnicity and power.
My journey began the moment I entered the world on May 25, 1996. I was born and raised in a
small developed country called New Zealand. At birth, my biological sex was quickly determine

As a result, I automatically associates with an East Asian background which is dissimilar from the
Western culture in New Zealand. I grew up as the youngest member in the family, among with one
older sibling.
The concept of gender has a strong social impact on me. When I was born, I was immediately
assigned to a biological sex as a female with two X chromosomes. I was then socially classified
as a girl in the society with feminine gender roles. Gender is defined as a social principle which
attribute to the roles and expectations of males and females through the years of different societies

Earlwood Summary
Earlwood Summary
Earlwood is an unspoiled, hidden gem of Sydney that embraces the Greek culture, but is also a
multicultural community. This suburb offers large blocks of land for residential or commercial
development, unlike most of the surrounding suburbs, which makes it a rare commodity indeed.
Inside the confines of Earlwood, you will find a small shopping precinct, plentiful parks and
playgrounds, rare bushlands, and a beautiful cohesion of food, community, culture, trendy cafes,
pizza bars, and natural beauty wrapped up in a setting that brings the old and the new together.
Earlwood is often mistaken for being part of the Inner West, but the Cooks River, the natural
boundary around its outer limits, makes that classification incorrect.

Essay on The Transcontinental Railroad And Westward...
The Transcontinental Railroad and Westward Expansion
Thesis: The transcontinental railroad greatly increased Westward expansion in the United States of
America during the latter half of the nineteenth century.
The history of the United States has been influenced by England in many ways.
In the second half of the 1800 s, the railroad, which was invented in England, had a major effect on
Western expansion in the United States.
quot;Railroads were born in England, a country with dense populations, short distances between
cities, and large financial resources. In America there were different circumstances, a sparse
population in a huge country, large stretches between cities, and only the smallest amounts of

Romantics dreamed of the discoveries of wild Indians, scouts and hunters, and, of course, gold.
Gold had been a desired find throughout the exploration of America. The California Gold Rush of
1849 again created much excitement about the search for gold.
The Pacific Railroads were founded when the Civil War was in progress. Until the war was over,
the transcontinental railroad was a giant enterprise stalled by much bickering between a reluctant
Congress and the Army, who had clamored for it (Cooke 254). If it had been left to the government,
it would have taken another twenty years to complete the transcontinental railroad. However, it was
a commercial venture, and it was fortunately fed by the adrenaline of competition. There were two
railroad companies building the transcontinental railroad, the Union Pacific from the East, and the
Central Pacific from the West.
The two companies struggled to beat each other in slamming down a record mileage of track. At
first, Congress avidly pursued the project and they had stipulated that the Central Pacific should
stop when it reached the California Border
(Congress was full of Easterners). In 1865, after much argument about the aid the government was
providing to the two companies, the actual construction of the transcontinental railroad was started.
Then in 1866, Congress decided that two companies

These characteristics are shaped by society (Gender Identity). Gender roles can be as simple as
thinking about the genders and talking about one should being doing something that the other can
not do because it is masculine or feminine. Also, since gender roles and gender identity is
interconnected with one another that they are often confused and switched around. Gender identity
is how we feel about and express our gender and gender roles like clothing, behavior, and personal
appearance (Gender Identity). Gender identity is often used when people express that they are girly
or manly.
However, there are often stereotypes about both genders. Gender stereotypes are defined as
overgeneralization of characteristics, differences and attributes of a certain group based on their
gender. (Nobullying.com). These stereotypes are what affect a child most because the
stereotypes are shared throughout generations. Some examples include certain color choices and
behaviors like how the color pink is a girl color and that any little boy is likes pink is made fun of

Health Risks And Exposure Of Toxic Chemicals
Health Risk and Exposure to Toxic Chemicals Many scientific researchers have said that our
environment has been filled with toxic chemicals, which us humans have had a part of. There are
many different issues that should concern us surrounding these toxic chemicals. The major
concern is that many of these toxic chemicals have been claimed to be causing damage to the
health of humans and even other life forms. Another concern is that most of the theses toxic
chemicals have just recently been produced; and by our environment changing everyday there is
no telling what effects these toxic chemicals may have in the long run on the public s health. Just
about all of these toxic chemicals exist in the way they do because of humans. As humans we
practice a lot of different activities that cause toxic chemicals to pollute our environment such as,
agriculture, industrial, and many domestic activities as well. Many of the toxic chemicals that we
produce and use don t get used in a effective way, which causes them to be wasted, left
abandoned, and disposed of. When toxic chemicals are not disposed of properly they effect the
environment and the public s health in a negative way. There are toxic chemicals surrounding all of
us, no matter what part of the world we are in. We can t see them but we breathe them in and even
eat them. The realization is that we have many of foreign materials traveling within our bodies,
which is most likely causing damage to our innards. Although these

Persuasive Essay On Public Transportation
Imagine yourself sitting in traffic, you are just in your car and the engine is just going and gas
is being wasted and the fumes coming out which pollute our environment. You look out and see
that it is still bumper to bumper on I 680 going to work, you are stressing out because you might
be late for work. Then when you go back home, it s the same bumper to bumper traffic. All this
time you could have just been with your family, helping your kids with their homework, or work
on something for your job. Traffic is a major issue for 21st century cities, it is hurting our
economy and our environment. One solution to this is a major issue is to invest in public
transportation and encourage more people to ride public transportation. I am calling for the
Federal Transportation Administration, state, and local governments to invest more in public
transportation and spread the awareness of public transportation. Public transportation is
beneficial to our communities by providing a solution to traffic and the havoc it causes on our
lives. Public transportation can carry way more people per hour at full capacity than the typical
single commuter car. Freeways with cars that carry on average 1.2 persons per car in medium
traffic (around 30 mph) will only carry 1,080 people per hour. At max, a freeway can carry 1,800
cars per hour and that only results in 5,400 passengers per hour if there were 3 passengers per car.

Effects Of Anatomical Parts Of Ephedra Sinica
Ephedra (Ma Huang) is a genus of plant, most commonly derived from the dried herbaceous stems
of the Chinese species, Ephedra sinica (Figure 1a and 1b). The natural plant source produces six
Ephedra alkaloids, chemicals which are considered to be the active constituents of the plant;
ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, norephedrine, norpseudoephedrine, methylephedrine and
methylpsuedoephedrine (Figure 2) (Veitch et al., 2013). The presence and concentrations of these
alkaloids depends primarily on the plant species, origin, growing conditions, and the raw plant
material processing, with most species largely containing ephedrineand pseudoephedrine (Haller et
al., 2004). Metabolomic studies have shown that anatomical parts of Ephedrasinica have different
therapeutic pharmacological effects and for this reason, have been used for different purposes in
medicine. This was demonstrated by Lv et al (2015), who used GC MS to compare the
concentrations of Ephedra sinica in the stems (Ma Huang) and in the roots (Mahuanggen) of
different plant samples. It was concluded that the pharmacologically important ephedrine alkaloids
were present in higher quantities in the stems. This is why Ephedra herb, sold as dry stems of
Ephedra sinica, has been used as a commercial source of ephedrine alkaloids worldwide, in
particular Europe and America (Lee 2011).

Historical Background And Point Of View
Authorial/Historical Background and Point of View Fittingly born on Abraham Lincoln s
birthday, James L. Swanson has always had a fascination of our 16th president s life. At only ten
years old, Swanson s grandmother gave him a very peculiar gift for a child: a framed engraving
of Booth s Deringer pistol, along with an April 15, 1865 Chicago Tribune clipping. The newspaper
story he received relived the terrible day of Lincoln s death, but as Swanson read, he realized the
ending of the story was lost. Swanson was fascinated, and felt a need to know the fate of his
favorite president, and the hunt for knowledge began. As the author continues to recount in his
acknowledgements, that gift sparked a passion within him culminating with the publication of
Manhunt on 2006. Despite the author s obvious enjoyment of the subject, a resurgence of interest
in the life and death of Honest Abe has recently gripped the United States. In the twenty first
century so far, dozens of novels, including Abraham Lincoln: A Life, The Gettysburg Gospel: The
Lincoln Speech That Nobody Knows, and Swanson s own Manhunt have gripped the nation, some
of them being New York Times Bestsellers. Even the film business has profited by this surge of
attention with 2012 s Lincoln starring Daniel Day Lewis. This interest is in part due to the political
divide plaguing the United States in the stark contrasts of opinion between Republicans and
Democrats. Abraham Lincoln saved the country from the biggest

Odysseus And Gilgamesh Comparison Essay
The Odyssey and The Epic of Gilgamesh alike are epic poems about epic heroes. Both of these
poems have a several of similarities and differences. The two writings were written with similar
goals. These works of art are about journeys and the obstacles faced during an epic heroes voyage.
While both of these poems have similar drives within the text there are also several variations.
Although there are several resemblances and variances in the text itself, more specifically, there are
multiple similarities and differences within each of the heroes themselves. There are numerous
ways in which these two epic heroes are similar; one of the ways being that they are both intelligent.
Both Odysseus and Gilgamesh show actions of intelligence throughout the text. Odysseus portrays
his intelligence when planning and leading his men through the Trojan War. Although Gilgamesh is
portrayed as somebody who lacks intelligence within the text, it is told from the beginning that this
epic herois in fact very smart. The text expresses Gilgamesh, who saw the wellspring, the
foundation of the land. He knew the ways. Was wise in all things. Gilgamesh and Odysseus stand
as two epic heroes who show clear signs of intelligence, nonetheless in complete different ways....

specific language techniques that are used in texts were related to better word reading scores.
Examples of such techniques include, greater use of contractions (txt instead of text), g clippings
(goin in place of going), symbols (emoticons plus single characters such as in place of words), letter
/number homophones (2nite), nonconventional spellings (fone), and accent stylization (e.g., elp

letters and numbers pronounced as their names (8 for ate) (Kemp, 2010). A National Union of

The Dark Side of the Mind Exposed in Cask of Amontillado
A wrong is unredressed when retribution overtakes its redresser. It is equally unredressed when the
avenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong. With that statement,
Montresor begins his tale of revenge deciding that the act must be slow and sweet and that in order
to fully enjoy it, his adversary must be aware of his intentions. Hidden within those same few lines,
lies not only this horrid plan, but also the true interest of its true author. In his Cask of Amontillado,
Edgar Allen Poe reveals his supreme interest in the dark side of the human mind and heart.

He is only concerned with attempting to understand the mind of Montresor as he commits the
ultimate dark act of murder.
Throughout the story, Montresor shows that the murder was what is now called in the first degree
it was clearly preplanned and intentional. By giving [the attendants] orders not to stir from the
house, Montresor shows that he was very aware of his actions. Even the placement of the bricks
and mortar, as well as the clever concealment of the trowel reflect the final execution of a well
thought out plan. In dialogue, Montresor also reveals his plan: Fortunato: the cough is a mere
nothing; it will not kill me. I shall not die of a cough. Montresor: True true. Montresor says that it
is true. Fortunato will not die of a cough, he will die at the hand of Montresor. The deep seated
hatred necessary for the preplanned extinguishing of another s life shows this dark side which Poe
so wishes to be understood. Poe seems to suggest that even if the readers have not physically
carried out such a hideous act as that of Montresor, they have in their imaginations.
Even the calm way the story is related by Montresor causes the reader to wander further into the

What Is The Persistence Of Memory Distinctively Visual
Throughout history, artists have endeavored to convey emotion, meaning and complexity within a
single still image. Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh and Roy Lichtenstein illustrate the embodiment
of the human experience within a realm of artistic expression. Each respective artist exemplifies the
power of an image to produce a statement regarding the unconscious mind, mental anguish, and the
banality of industrial culture. Ultimately, they evoke a poignant story within a simple picture. The
Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali is universally regarded as an emblem of the Surrealist
movement. However, the meaning of its aesthetic construction is mystifying. The painting features
four clocks draped in a barren desert. The clocks are disproportionately bent and appear to be
melting into the landscape of the painting. Additionally, there is no indication of human life. The
juxtaposition of this painting is eccentric and indiscriminate. It depicts the assemblage of unrelated
items. Thus, it represents the landscape of the psyche when it is engaged in the act of dreaming.
The melting clocks personify the manner in which time capriciously melts away as an individual
dreams. Furthermore, the psyche cannot measure time when it is engaged in the act of dreaming.
In the dream world, the clock does not possess the power to act... Show more content on

Humanity acknowledges the presence of the unconscious mind. However, they are not cognizant of
its attributes. Like the barren and infertile desert in The Persistence of Memory, the unconscious
mind is barren to the eyes of the waking mind. Dali also exemplifies the process of a dream fading
from the memory of the conscious mind. He illustrates this concept through the formation of a
dehydrated tree. The tree does not contain leaves. Rather, it is sapped of this essential trait. This
symbolizes that the memory of

1. The Sales Rep. A sales representative for a struggling computer supply firm has a chance to
close a multimillion dollar deal for an office system to be installed over a two year period. The
machines for the first delivery are in the company s warehouse, but the remainder would have to be
ordered from the manufacturer. Because the manufacturer is having difficulty meeting the heavy
demand for the popular model, the sales representative is not sure that the subsequent deliveries can
be made on time. Any delay in converting to the new system would be costly to the customer;
however, the blame could be placed on the manufacturer. Should the sales representative close the
deal without advising the customer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an MD for a brewing company, her job entails for her to be able to target this youth group and
get them hooked unto their beer. The case states that there is a lot of competition. They need to
find a unique selling point, which makes them different in selling the same product. The director
herself is uncomfortable with the tricks used to attract their attention. I think she should go along
with her competition, because even though there is a drinking age of 18+ or 21+, kids hardly
follow these rules anyway. Even though she herself doesn t believe in encouraging underage
drinking, she should be aware that these tricks aren t solely responsible for the youth of today and
their drinking habits. She can advertise her alcohol, with her brand name without graphical
descriptions of parties this way she can compete with her rivals and at the same time incorporate a
little bit of what she believes in. Ethically, it would be wrong to encourage something that is against
the law, but in my opinion from the business view, when competition is there the aim is to be on
top of it.

Gambling And Evidence-Based Gambling
Gambling can be entertainment or a professional pursuit. There is government sponsored
gambling and unlicensed gambling. It can be a group event at a casino, betting on your favorite
horse, playing your lucky numbers in a lottery, or a chance to win on a scratch off. The Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM 5; American Psychiatric Association,
[APA], 2013) defines gamblingas risking something of value in the hopes of obtaining something
of greater value . For most people gambling will not result in negative consequences. For others,
gambling can risk livelihood, relationships and personal well being.
In the United States, the prevalence rate of gambling disorder is 3% (Grant Odlaug, 2014). The

Gambling disorder is considered a public health concern and prevalence rates are rising as
gambling becomes more accessible at casinos and on the internet (Tolchard, 2015). Despite this
trend, only one in ten people with gambling disorder seek treatment (Hodgins Yakovenko, 2014,
p. 228). Reasons for low rates of treatment seeking include lack of information about where to get
help, feeling ashamed about gambling behavior as well as wanting to resolve issues independent
of professional care (Grant Odlaug, 2014, p. 41). In rural areas, access to treatment is an issue
since services are usually urban based and outreach to rural communities is limited (Tolchard,

William Wordsworth s The World Is Too Much With Us
Completely unaware? Do you notice the things that surrounds us, and the life that lives within us?
Care to much or not at all?, want it all? Or have you no love within your heart. Do you dream? Or
create? Do you see the nature all around us? Those were many of the thoughts and questions that
ran through my head when reading the poem The World Is Too Much With Us , by William
Wordsworth. Throughout the story there were three messages that stood out the most in
Wordsworth s poem, which involve love, the power to not care and be greedy, and creation within
the mind.
In the poem the writing can be taken and understood many different ways, but one thing that
stood out to me was the message of love. Now not necessarily love for one another but love for
nature was expressed throughout the poem through various ways. We have given our hearts
away, a Sordid boon! (Wordsworth, Line, 5). What William was trying to explain in just that
line was we would give our hearts away to nature at any point, because it s the love for the way
that nature is and all its beauty and peace. It can so easily capture our hearts to love nature and
all it has to offer. Furthermore, Wordsworth, talks a lot and describes a lot about what nature does.
For instance. He talks about how the sea is at night time, how the wind has a sort of howl to it, and
that also really shows the love for nature that is expressed in this poem. And even the love that the
narrator has for nature and its beauty.

Unmanned Vs. Automated Drones Essay
The purpose of this research paper is to explore unmanned or automated drones for the use of
package delivery and the impact upon the consumer. Both businesses and consumers have had a
significant interest in using machines to do what many consider the manual task of moving items
from the seller to the consumer. Banking, telecommunications, and grocery shopping were once
thought to require personal interaction to perform transactions. Through innovation, each of these
industries has transformed through some form of automation. The shipping industry may be on the
precipice of such an evolution. I work in the transportation industry, and there has been
significant interest in the use of unmanned vehicles to deliver parcels. I will explore drone
technology and the impact to consumers and the logistic industry as drones are used in
operations. The reasons vary, but overwhelming demand is originating from retailers that have
relied on third party companies to connect products to the buyer. I will also discuss how there
will be a continued need for people in the logistics industry. The future of small parcel delivery
will eventually include the use of drones rather than relying exclusively on methods dependent on
people to deliver items. Small packages are considered bags or boxes that weigh less than twenty
pounds, and the average weight in which potential drone operating retailers are focused are those
weighing five pounds or less. The compelling factor for this

A Farewell To Arms Rhetorical Analysis
I have a simple philosophy: Fill what s empty. Empty what s full. Scratch where it itches.
(Longworth). In the novel, A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway conveys this simple
philosophy to tell the story of Frederic s internal battle between love and war. Frederic is
internally attempting to fill the empty void in his heart with love, while simultaneously emptying
the overflowing bucket of harsh memories from war. The itch of every man is the love of a
woman, and this itch is especially growing within Frederic, because, as the musical about men alone
at war, South Pacific, states, There is nothing like a dame. Ernest Hemingwayenhances the novel by
using several rhetorical strategies such as simple diction, syntax, foreshadowing, and... Show more

Throughout the novel, the rain is consistently brought up when Catherine reveals All right. I m
afraid of the rain because sometimes I see me dead in it, (Hemingway 126). The rain is not only
foreshadowing, yet it is a metaphor to death. For example, when Aymo, Tenente, Piani, Bonello,
and Frederic were on a road that led to a river (Hemingway 209) , when it began to rain again.
Which led to a shooting between Germans (supposedly) and the men. The constant repetition of
rain when death is present shows the metaphor that rain itself brings to the book. When rain
comes, death follows. The novel ends with Frederic leaving the hospital after Catherine has died,
it begins to rain. Since rain is shown at the end, maybe the author is leaving the reader of the
thought of Frederic going downhill in the future. The presence of rain equates to the presence of
death. This use of rain as a metaphor for death shows Hemingway s attitude through the
relationship between Frederic and Catherine. Rain is temporary, it comes when a cloud overflows
with moisture and disappears when the sun shines brightly, as goes the relationship between the
two. It comes and goes, explodes and disappears, just like the rain from the

The Use of Chemical Weapons in the Tokyo Subway Attack Essay
The Use of Chemical Weapons in the Tokyo Subway Attack
Japan has long enjoyed the enviable reputation of being one of the safest nations in the world.
The country has one of the world lowest rates for murder and other violent crime, and the
Japanese National Police Agency and local Police forces are often praised as a model of law
enforcement efficiency. Tokyo enjoys one of the cleanest, safest and most efficient subway
networks in the world. Trains run on precise schedules and accommodate 2.7 billion passengers a
year. All that changed on March 20, 1995. A nightmare unfolded as the city of Tokyo experienced
one of the worst terrorist attacks of the century. This is what many considered to be the first true

Some commentators began to think that the attack was targeted on NPA officers. Some
commentators evidently anticipated that the Tokyo attack was a prelude to the issuing of demands
by the criminal. Commentators also expressed surprise that, given the toxicity of sarin and the
nature of the target, the casualty had not in fact been much higher. Others suggested that the agent
may simply have been impure, perhaps deliberately diluted either self protection of the attackers or
to keep the number of fatalities low. This theory appeared confirmed by the discovery early on the
traces of another substance, acetonitrile (or methyl cyanide), which it could have been used to
dilute the gas.
Some Unexplained Incidents: In the days following the subway attack, as the casualty toll
continued to rise, the Amu Shinri Kyo (or Supreme Truth ), whose leader Shoko Asahara, had in
the past shown an interested in chemical and biological warfare. Two days after the attack, large
numbers of police officers began massive raids on the sects many facilities throughout Japan, on the
pretext of searching for kidnap victims (since there was no immediate evidence linking it to the
subway attack). At one location particular, a compound or commune at Kamikuishiki in the
surroundings of Mount Fuji 100 km west of Tokyo, they discovered extensive facilities for the

Ultrasounds sometimes are used to detect and treat soft tissue injuries
Most ultrasounds are done using a transducer on the surface of the skin. Sometimes, however,
doctors and technicians can get a better diagnostic image by inserting a special transducer into one
of the body s natural openings
An abdominal ultrasound is a useful way of examining internal organs. Because ultrasound images
are captured in real time, they can show movement of internal tissues and organs and enable
physicians to see blood flow. This can help to diagnose a variety of conditions and to assess
damage caused by illness.

Father In Sticks
The father in Sticks seemed like a tough love kind of father. Often at times, possibly too tough.
Personally, I grew up with a very relaxed father that had very few rules. As long as I was home
by curfew, did my own laundry, did the dishes three times a week after supper and kept my room
clean, he was content and happy. I was only grounded one time in my childhood by him and he
spanked me one time when I was a small child. I always felt he was someone I could run to when
I needed it and I feel that a lot of his parenting traits are now my parenting traits. I feel I am

Project Management with Reference to the Construction of...
The Roman engineers were the first in history to discover that proper management of men and
resources could greatly decrease the time it takes to complete a construction project. The
management structure the Romans employed on their many public construction projects was very
simple, but very effective in communicating information through the appropriate channels.
Coupling this management structure with previous experience, the Romans were able to increase
the efficiency of their endless labour force. Given that no scriptures on the topic of project
managementhave been discovered, it is hard to know whether the Romans knew exactly what they
had achieved. However, even though they are more complex, the processes used today can be quite

The next level of men consisted of contractors and foreman that supervised small crews of men.
The foremen had to have a very good understanding of what they were being asked to do and how
to organize their crews to work as efficiently and fast as possible. Foremen were also required to
physically demonstrate to the men being supervised what they were expected to do and probably
administered discipline to men for poor work. Another branch of men , not directly related to
physical work, lead to the engineers. This branch contained the levellers and surveyors. They
worked under the engineer and maintained communication with the contractor but they did not
really fit between either. These men were educated in a variety of subjects but especially math. The
surveyors used simple tools to perform very important elevation calculations and with the engineers
they plotted the paths of the aqueducts. They communicated with the contractor(s) to explain the
path and the slope that the labours were being asked to construct.
The most important people in the construction team were the engineers. Everything that happened
on the project fell to them to deal with. For this reason Vitruvius gives many examples of things that
engineers needed to know and should have studied, including math and some unusual topics such as
philosophy and music (Vitruvius: On Architecture, 2006). The engineers

  • 3. African American Coming of Age in Mississippi Essay Coming of Age In Mississippi The 1950 s and 1960 s remains the most controversial and momentous decades for the nation to this day. The civil rights movement was to end racial segregation and end all prejudice against African Americans. Whether it was voting rights, rights to sit wherever one liked, or to love someone outside of one s race; racist people at this time were reluctant to have equality. These civil rights movements challenged and demanded to be heard through protest and nonviolent activity. However, these protests never were noted and were completely shut down by authorities and other racist bystanders. Americans and their confidence in their way of ignorance was most certainly challenged during this time; how could one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was challenging to ignore; these images circled the nation showing African Americanpeople who were dignified and hopeful, dedicating their lives to shape destinies. There were many tactics and strategies that were adopted by the civil rights movement. African Americans would advocate for equality by sit ins, freedom rides, speeches/rallies, and with the media. For example, there was a decision made by four North Carolina freshman to sit at the lunch counter of a local restaurant to initiate a new phase of civil rights activity. This sit in was called the Jackson Sit In and it caused an outbreak of new black college students from all areas of the South to make a difference too. Among them was the author of Coming of Age in Mississippi, Anne Moody. This protest was depicted as being horrific and dangerous to the young lives of these college students. In Takin to the Streets, Anne Moody tells the Jackson Sit In in her own words; We would like to be served here I said. The waitress started to repeat what she had said, then stopped in the middle of the sentence. She turned the lights out behind the counter, and she and the other waitress almost ran to the back of the store, deserting all their white customers. I guess they thought that violence would start immediately after the whites at the counter realized what was going on. (Page 18, Takin It To The Streets.) • 4. The Melting Point And Boiling Point Results The results show that the highest melting point was 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid and the lowest melting point was Sulfosalicylic Acid. The highest boiling point was Octanol and lowest boiling point was Methanol. When it came to the percent error the highest percent error calculated was pentanol and the lowest percent error was Propanol. Discussion During this lab the melting point ranges and boiling points were recorded from several substances. Based upon the structures of these various samples certain trends were expected to be followed. For example, with the melting points of pure substances are usually higher than the melting points of impure substances. In this lab the melting point of Benzoic Acid, Salicylic Acid, 3 Hydroxybenzoic Acid, 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid, and Sulfosalicylic Acid were taken. If we apply the concept of pure substances having higher boiling points, it was expected for substances like 3 Hydroxybenzoic Acid and 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid to have higher melting points and for substances like Benzoic Acid and Salicylic Acid to have lower melting points. As for Sulfosalicylic Acid, its melting point was the lowest so it was assumed that the substance was the most impure. It was proven that the fewer impurities call for higher melting points. This is due to the crystalline lattices structure of repeating ions or molecules. This lattice is held together by intermolecular forces that create a strong, stable structure. The solid must be heated to a certain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Cremation versus Burial Essay example Cremation vs. Burial Today the society is looking for ways to ease life and to find solutions for problems which oppress our lives and make it hard to live through. Because of many reasons, the traditional burials in this century are becoming a problem. (Prothero,2001). The fact that they cover a lot of land to build cemeteries and other things that are attached to these traditional burials is enough for us to search for a practical solution. About a century ago the term cremation was unknown to many people. It is believed that it began to be practiced during the early Stone Age and still exists today. Since that time cremations have been made all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A lot of people are paying for insurance by which a great part of the payment goes for covering the expenses for their funerals all together with goods and services connected with it. Moreover, these costs are very high not only in the Balkans, but in every country where there is not a crematorium built. (D.J, 2014). The average cost of funeral services, today costs considerably more than 1000 $ here in the Balkans while in the US, UK , Japan, Canada and many other countries the price can reach up to 6,500 $. On the other hand the average costs of cremation including a basic memorial service costs from 1600 $ to 3000 $ but the prices vary which means that they can be lowered to 800 or 600 $ since you can choose the quality material of the casket and the services provided along with it. Nonetheless, basic cremation is very simple, much less expensive and you don`t have to add the cost of hearse, embalming, paper work, casket and grave purchase. With cremation, you only have to pay for the service, casket the urn and everything is resolved. When burying a dead body into the ground there are several processes of decomposition going on that leave out foul odor deep into the ground that can cause diseases spread and completely contaminate the whole area depending on the scope that the cemeteries cover. • 7. What Is The Most Memorable Moment In A Movie Lights, Curtain, Action The lights dimmed, the curtain lifted, and the actors came out. My excitement was growing, first starting in my throat, then working its way to my stomach. The sound of the instruments filled the theater as the actors start to sing in loud clear voices. This was how my most memorable moment in my childhood started, at the Times Union Center Theater in the last week of February. My interest in theater started when I was a little girl. In particular, it was a movie that started this love. I can still remember the day my father brought home that movie, The Phantom of the Opera. It was the first musical I watched that was not Disney. After watching it, I felt overwhelmed with all the emotions expressed in the movie. Of course, being as young as I was then, I was unable to quite understand the meaning in the movie but that was not a problem. I was more interested in the singing and dancing that was shown throughout the movie. It was this musical that influenced me to pursue a career in theater and movies. Even though I loved the musical so much I never did see it live. My family could not afford to buy tickets and very rarely did the show come to my hometown. That is until I was 17 when they came to the Times Union Center in Jacksonville. My sister and I were thrilled, but instantly our excitement died when we remembered that we do not have the money for tickets. The both of us decided to start coming up with ways to earn money, such as extra chores and odd jobs around the neighborhood. Slowly but surely we began to earn money. By the end of December, we were still short a couple hundred bucks and seats were selling out quickly. It was Christmas Day when the most wonderful thing happened. My family was opening up presents and it was my turn to open mines. My father handed me this large present and inside was a slightly smaller present and inside that was an even smaller present which inside contained an envelope. Inside of that envelope was a Christmas card with the inside saying Soak up this moment! Clipped to the side of the card was three tickets to The Phantom of the Opera. • 9. Analysis Of Cathedral By Raymond Carver A New Perspective Everyone at one point has judged a book by its cover. In the short story, Cathedral , Raymond Carver creates a narrator who bases off ideas and assumptions about blind people from movies. The narrator has never interacted with a blind person before the day where his wife invites her friend, who is named Robert, to stay. The narrator and Robert have never met, but the narrator has a strong dislike towards Robert before meeting. The narrator s closed mindedness and misconceptions leads him to judge Robert, however after a few hours of interaction, the narrator learns more about him and grows to have a new perspective about people not being who they think they are. The narrator is pre judgemental towards all people who are blind, whether or not he has met them. He believes all blind people are the same as those he has watched in movies. The narrator perception of the blindis that they moved slowly and never laughed and when they went out they were led by seeing eye dogs (Carver 104). The movie industry creates a false image of the blind, which leads to the narrator s assumptions. However, the blind are not all the same, just like how everyone else in the world are not the same. People are designed to be different in their personalities, thoughts, looks and much more. The narrator s ideas of Robert are based off of false conceptions and this changes his attitude towards Robert. The narrator already has strong feelings towards Robert before meeting him ... • 10. The Importance Of The Tenure System In Education The best teachers bring out their students knowledge. A good teacher makes students more interested in their lectures. However, these teachers sometimes get fired because they are hired later than the other teachers who have been working for a longer period of time. This is due to the Tenure System that keeps teachers from being fired when they teach at a schoolfor a certain amount of time. Therefore, should the tenuresystem in public schools be eliminated? Some argue that tenure protects teachers from unfair dismissal; for instance, when teaching unpopular ideas. Also, it would be unfair to fire teachers in order to save expense, due to the fact that older teachers get paid more because of their experience. Other people agree that the tenure system in public schools should be eliminated to keep teachers working hard to improve their knowledge, teaching skills, and responsiveness. In order to improve the quality of the education, performance should be more important than length of service; therefore, the tenure system in public schools should be eliminated. The tenure system should be eliminated to protect the best teachers. There are many circumstances that allow ineffective teachers to be kept at the schools because of the tenure system. For example, many teachers cannot explain concepts clearly or give wrong information to their students while they are giving their lectures in the classroom, but they are still teaching at the school. Consequently, according to Jason ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No one is capable of stopping him from becoming a better meaningful species to society. Most Americans strive to build themselves up to become the best they can be. Americans study the use of DNA manipulation in bodies and cells to help fight off diseases and illnesses such as the common cold or flu. Specifically, he trespasses, has a huge conflict of interest, and invades the privacy of others. We learn early on in the film that McCaffrey has a conflict of interest with the story he is reporting on. Stephen Collins, a Senator from Pennsylvania, is McCaffrey s old college roomate whom he has stayed in touch with for years. He also had an affair with Collins wife. When the story hits that Collins may have had an affair with Sonia Baker, his head researcher, McCaffrey does not say anything. I m happy to pack the bed for you (101): Nick and Amy Dunne are moving from their New York home back to Nick s childhood town in Missouri in order to take care of Nick s ailing mother. This quote is a classic example of Nick asking Amy what she wants, but Amy expects him to know the correct answer on his own. She doesn t tell him what she really wants. Amy wants Nick to know that she would like at least the comfort of her own bed in a new place. Instead of saying this, however, she is passive aggressive and tells him to leave it because he already promised the bed to one of his friends. This quote is in one of Amy s diary entries, which is later revealed as an unreliable source. Anthony acknowledging the women s suffrage movement. After the abolition of slavery in 1865, voting rights were extended to all citizens, however citizens in this case meant, men only. As a result of only men having voting rights, women started advocating the women s suffrage movement. The women s suffrage movement or woman suffrage was the struggle for women to vote and run for office. This movement began in 1848 and it continued until 1920. • 16. The Role Of Desirable Personality Traits On The Formation... Not surprisingly, a leader s personality is a major component of how he leads his subordinates and his success in such an endeavor. To make a difficult task more even more intricate, leadership involves interacting with individuals ranging from a few to a few hundred strong, all with personalities and circumstances in life equally complex as the leader himself. Despite the odds against them, stories of excellent leaders are ubiquitous and consist of many different types of people doing the leading in many walks of life. In addition to the anecdotal evidence supporting the role of desirable personality traits being involved in the formation of a good leader it can be seen through experience and history that certain traits are more beneficial than others. Especially when the scope is narrowed down to more specific career paths, personalities and their desired traits can be determined more effectively. This is particularly accurate when examining military professionals, a group whose history, successes, and failures are closely recorded in texts throughout the ages. However before the United States was founded on 4 Jul 1776, there was a militant force. That militant force was officially considered the United States Army and was established in 14 Jun 1775. Throughout the novel, we see evidence of indoctrination in all of the characters. This indoctrination process appears to be primarily carried out by Gilead s manipulation of language among its residents. Language is a powerful tool in shaping our thoughts and how we behave; the control and exploitation of discourse in the regime shows us not only this, but also how language can provide power as well as take it away. Gilead s government relies heavily on language from the bible to help maintain its theocratic dictatorship. It does this by taking religious quotes such as Give me children or else I die out of context and bending the meaning to impose their ideologies. A quote that is made to be taken quite literally in Gilead as the women are told it is their sole purpose to reproduce and if they do not they are an unwoman a disturbing term which implies that in the eyes of Gilead, unless the women meet its ideology, they are useless and their humanity is taken away from them.... Gold had been a desired find throughout the exploration of America. The California Gold Rush of 1849 again created much excitement about the search for gold. The Pacific Railroads were founded when the Civil War was in progress. Until the war was over, the transcontinental railroad was a giant enterprise stalled by much bickering between a reluctant Congress and the Army, who had clamored for it (Cooke 254). If it had been left to the government, it would have taken another twenty years to complete the transcontinental railroad. However, it was a commercial venture, and it was fortunately fed by the adrenaline of competition. There were two railroad companies building the transcontinental railroad, the Union Pacific from the East, and the Central Pacific from the West. The two companies struggled to beat each other in slamming down a record mileage of track. At first, Congress avidly pursued the project and they had stipulated that the Central Pacific should stop when it reached the California Border (Congress was full of Easterners). • 34. Effects Of Anatomical Parts Of Ephedra Sinica Ephedra (Ma Huang) is a genus of plant, most commonly derived from the dried herbaceous stems of the Chinese species, Ephedra sinica (Figure 1a and 1b). The natural plant source produces six Ephedra alkaloids, chemicals which are considered to be the active constituents of the plant; ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, norephedrine, norpseudoephedrine, methylephedrine and methylpsuedoephedrine (Figure 2) (Veitch et al., 2013). The presence and concentrations of these alkaloids depends primarily on the plant species, origin, growing conditions, and the raw plant material processing, with most species largely containing ephedrineand pseudoephedrine (Haller et al., 2004). Metabolomic studies have shown that anatomical parts of Ephedrasinica have different therapeutic pharmacological effects and for this reason, have been used for different purposes in medicine. This was demonstrated by Lv et al (2015), who used GC MS to compare the concentrations of Ephedra sinica in the stems (Ma Huang) and in the roots (Mahuanggen) of different plant samples. It was concluded that the pharmacologically important ephedrine alkaloids were present in higher quantities in the stems. This is why Ephedra herb, sold as dry stems of Ephedra sinica, has been used as a commercial source of ephedrine alkaloids worldwide, in particular Europe and America (Lee 2011). Texters need to be able to pronounce words phonetically when they are not spelled in an orthodox fashion, reinstate vowels that have been removed in the interest of brevity, or have letters and numbers pronounced as their names (8 for ate) (Kemp, 2010). It is equally unredressed when the avenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong. With that statement, Montresor begins his tale of revenge deciding that the act must be slow and sweet and that in order to fully enjoy it, his adversary must be aware of his intentions. Hidden within those same few lines, lies not only this horrid plan, but also the true interest of its true author. In his Cask of Amontillado, Edgar Allen Poe reveals his supreme interest in the dark side of the human mind and heart. Much of what a story means, much of its effect on the reader depends on ... Throughout the story, Montresor shows that the murder was what is now called in the first degree it was clearly preplanned and intentional. By giving [the attendants] orders not to stir from the house, Montresor shows that he was very aware of his actions. Even the placement of the bricks and mortar, as well as the clever concealment of the trowel reflect the final execution of a well thought out plan. In dialogue, Montresor also reveals his plan: Fortunato: the cough is a mere nothing; it will not kill me. I shall not die of a cough. Montresor: True true. Montresor says that it is true. Fortunato will not die of a cough, he will die at the hand of Montresor. The deep seated hatred necessary for the preplanned extinguishing of another s life shows this dark side which Poe so wishes to be understood. Poe seems to suggest that even if the readers have not physically carried out such a hideous act as that of Montresor, they have in their imaginations. Even the calm way the story is related by Montresor causes the reader to wander further into the mind of the murderer further into the dark side of the mind and of the heart. • 44. What Is The Persistence Of Memory Distinctively Visual Throughout history, artists have endeavored to convey emotion, meaning and complexity within a single still image. Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh and Roy Lichtenstein illustrate the embodiment of the human experience within a realm of artistic expression. Each respective artist exemplifies the power of an image to produce a statement regarding the unconscious mind, mental anguish, and the banality of industrial culture. Ultimately, they evoke a poignant story within a simple picture. The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali is universally regarded as an emblem of the Surrealist movement. However, the meaning of its aesthetic construction is mystifying. The painting features four clocks draped in a barren desert. The clocks are disproportionately bent and appear to be melting into the landscape of the painting. Additionally, there is no indication of human life. The juxtaposition of this painting is eccentric and indiscriminate. It depicts the assemblage of unrelated items. Thus, it represents the landscape of the psyche when it is engaged in the act of dreaming. The melting clocks personify the manner in which time capriciously melts away as an individual dreams. Furthermore, the psyche cannot measure time when it is engaged in the act of dreaming. In the dream world, the clock does not possess the power to act... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. William Wordsworth s The World Is Too Much With Us Completely unaware? Do you notice the things that surrounds us, and the life that lives within us? Care to much or not at all?, want it all? Or have you no love within your heart. Do you dream? Or create? Do you see the nature all around us? Those were many of the thoughts and questions that ran through my head when reading the poem The World Is Too Much With Us , by William Wordsworth. Throughout the story there were three messages that stood out the most in Wordsworth s poem, which involve love, the power to not care and be greedy, and creation within the mind. In the poem the writing can be taken and understood many different ways, but one thing that stood out to me was the message of love. Now not necessarily love for one another but love for nature was expressed throughout the poem through various ways. We have given our hearts away, a Sordid boon! (Wordsworth, Line, 5). What William was trying to explain in just that line was we would give our hearts away to nature at any point, because it s the love for the way that nature is and all its beauty and peace. It can so easily capture our hearts to love nature and all it has to offer. Furthermore, Wordsworth, talks a lot and describes a lot about what nature does. For instance. He talks about how the sea is at night time, how the wind has a sort of howl to it, and that also really shows the love for nature that is expressed in this poem. And even the love that the narrator has for nature and its beauty. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both businesses and consumers have had a significant interest in using machines to do what many consider the manual task of moving items from the seller to the consumer. Banking, telecommunications, and grocery shopping were once thought to require personal interaction to perform transactions. Through innovation, each of these industries has transformed through some form of automation. The shipping industry may be on the precipice of such an evolution. I work in the transportation industry, and there has been significant interest in the use of unmanned vehicles to deliver parcels. I will explore drone technology and the impact to consumers and the logistic industry as drones are used in operations. The reasons vary, but overwhelming demand is originating from retailers that have relied on third party companies to connect products to the buyer. I will also discuss how there will be a continued need for people in the logistics industry. The future of small parcel delivery will eventually include the use of drones rather than relying exclusively on methods dependent on people to deliver items. Small packages are considered bags or boxes that weigh less than twenty pounds, and the average weight in which potential drone operating retailers are focused are those weighing five pounds or less. In the novel, A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway conveys this simple philosophy to tell the story of Frederic s internal battle between love and war. Frederic is internally attempting to fill the empty void in his heart with love, while simultaneously emptying the overflowing bucket of harsh memories from war. The itch of every man is the love of a woman, and this itch is especially growing within Frederic, because, as the musical about men alone at war, South Pacific, states, There is nothing like a dame. When rain comes, death follows. The novel ends with Frederic leaving the hospital after Catherine has died, it begins to rain.
