The Party Exited the Courtyard
Minister Mike s party included Skylar, Ethan, Mr Pisher and a meager handful of the remaining
students each of whom tolerated the midday sun as they walked single file around the massive Palace
structure. The once magnificent lush grounds had turned into withering vegetation. Water was scarce.
The new Government could not afford this luxurious expensive. Those who lived in the region did not
know why the devoted groundskeepers had recently abandoned their post. Soon, it would become
evident as Minister Mike s party continued around Egyptian style Palace.
The Babylon summer Palace was shaped in a U design, so when Minister Mike saw the balcony above
the first wing; he noticed Giselle by herself clutching the railing. She looked nauseated. He wanted to
say something. However, Mike felt it best to leave her alone.
Mike did not see Daniel ducking behind the balcony French door.
The Minister s party rounded the Palace. There they strolled into the three sided courtyard. Marble
terraced steps leaded from an Olympic size swimming pool to the main residence level. The scale of
the Saddam s Babylon Palace would rival those in Europe; mounted above the Babylon ruins, it was
easy to imagine the grand parties hosted poolside.
Now a drained pool sat eroding with desert debris. The diving board was scattered from its mountings.
It gave an eerie appearance to the dismal Palace grounds.
Skylar ascended the steps into the pool, and turn back to the Minister. She mimicked a

The Theme Of Conflict In Interlopers,The Use Of Division...
Say someone comes up to you, and insults you, right in your face. What would you do? Many would
probably say they would fight, yell, or shun said person. But, what does that help? As Martin Luther
King Junior once said, Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. In this day and age, many
believe war and division is the only way to achieve peace; Although it seems that way, unity is a
solution many can see, but cannot truly achieve, as it is a rare occurrence. In the short story Interlopers
, Saki uses conflict, and in the poem Mending Wall , Frost uses character to show that there is always
a chance to resolve problems with unity, but that is simply a rare conclusion for almost everyone. In
Interlopers , Saki s use of conflict shows division and war. First, while Ulrich and Georg are hunting
each other in the woods, their hate for each other is stressed; If there was a man in the world whom
[Ulrich] detested and wished ill to, it was Georg Znaeym, the inheritor of the quarrel... Ulrich and
Georg s hatred is sparked by this plot of land that has been passed down for generations, that both
families want to own for themselves; The forest lands of Gradwitz were of wide extent and well
stocked with game... A famous lawsuit, in the days of his grandfather, This is the conflict of man vs.
man to show war, and their division by being against each other. But, as soon as Ulrich and Georg find
each other, a tree crashes down, and they are stuck together, forced to talk

Monastic Religion
1 What is Monasticism?
Monasticism is a spiritual approach of living life in which one abandons everything in the world and
dedicates oneself entirely to divine work. Monastic life plays a significant part in many Christian
churches, particularly the Catholic and Orthodox traditions. The goal was always to grow the spirit
and break the body. According to the book, turning points, the monastic contribution is to whatever is
pure, noble, right true, lovely and admirable.
The early monk and the nuns were motivated to seek the monastic life because they were looking for
something flawless. They want to give their lives completely to Christ. I think they wanted to live up
to the Gospel commandments and wanted to try to live truly according ... Show more content on

I think the Christians will make every effort to have the world accessible in all and new environments.
I think they will also focus on the union of all Christians, although there is freedom of religion, as you
know each religion favors their own. And I also believe the concentrated efforts in Fifty years for
Christian missions may add the current concerns and issues of that time.
3 Where do you see the Christian church worldwide going? What will be your place in it?
I think the Christian church today is face with a direction issue we hear on the news that a lot has been
going with Priests, Pastors Etc., in the other hand, now more people are focusing on Christ. Places that
no one knew or heard about Jesus start to familiarize with the Gospel. I think, what the Church should
be focusing more on is the connection with each other as Christians, as the old traditions. As
followers, we re not supposed to be individuals, we need to help each built the kingdom of Christ. As

Objectivity And Journalism
Every journalist student will tell you that the most important aspect of being a journalist is to be
impartial, objective, and to always report the facts not your opinion. Everyone knows what objectivity
means, yet do they all follow the rules? Is it even possible for journalists to be objective? Most
importantly, is objectivity a concept that even exists? I m going to examine the evidence.
We live in a word where most journalists and news corporations are labeled as being corrupt , biased
and deliberately misinforming. Corporations such as FOX news in the US is constantly criticised as
being propaganda for right wing bias, and in the UK we have similar situations with the BBC, Sky
News, and newspapers such as The Sun and the Daily Mail. In truth, pretty much every news outlet on
the planet shows a certain degree of bias and non objectivity.
Objectivity is the main ethos of journalism, being one of the first things a journalism student is taught.
It gives journalists a set of rules to report news accurately and without bias in favour of a particular
party. Though certain aspects of this can differ should you be a columnist or feature writer, this tends
to be the general consensus. A quick skim through the dictionary tells us that objectivity is The quality
or character of being objective; (in later use) esp. the ability to consider or represent facts,
information, etc., without being influenced by personal feelings or opinions; impartiality; detachment.

3d Printing Research Paper
If you re not excited about the revolution that 3D printing is bringing in a technology field, then you re
not thinking in a futuristic way, say some technology experts who predicted that the life on earth is
going to dramatically change with the advent of 3D printing.
Today, 3D printing technology is used across all industries including entertainment, art, education, real
estate and many more. It serves to a wider audience and is rapidly becoming the most promising
technology created by the human species. We re highlighting 9 different ways how 3D printing will be
changing the world.

Printing Foods Instead of Ordering:
From candies to pizza, 3D printers can be used for printing food. This is the greatest tech solution,
especially for astronauts in space where they don t find food of their desire. 3D printing companies are
coming up with printer that can print chocolates, pizza and other food items in space. However, the
option of printing food in space is still under research.
8. Reduction in Plastic Waste:
Plastics are non biodegradable and pose a major environmental threat. Fortunately, with plastic 3D
printing, one can recycle plastics into filaments, as it uses less energy to convert. One company has
also developed a 3D printer that only works with recycled plastics.
9. Visualizing the Picture:
Imagine a visually impaired individual is given a chance to see photographs. High tech 3D printers
can print the 3D version of the photo that can be visualized with a touch. This innovation is a great
help for visually impaired people.
The 3D printing has certainly taken technology to a storm providing major solution in various
industries and a step ahead in man made new age technology. Be ready to enter into a world of 3D
print technology that can be a huge leap over the human innovation and would make life

George Trump s Presidential Campaign
Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush will make his first official campaign stop in Colorado
(Rittiman). Jeb Bush started his presidential campaign August 25th and seems to be falling fast just
two months later. Suffering Donald Trump s reality show style insults and the problems his family s
dynasty created Jeb has been steadily falling in the polls. He first came out running with many people
behind him seeing him as genuine, but now he is beginning to fall prey to Trump s demonization.
Bush is losing funding fast and unfortunately for him some are calling him the next Scott Walker.
Jeb Bush is a real contender for primary. It would not be fair to call him a pretender, but he is losing
support fast. Bush has even publicly shown indication of his loss of faith.
If this election is about how we re going to fight to get nothing done, Mr. Bush said, then I don t want
any part of it. I don t want to be elected president to sit around and see gridlock just become so
dominant that people literally are in decline in their lives. That is not my motivation. He added, I ve
got a lot of really cool things I could do other than sit around, being miserable, listening to people
demonize me and me feeling compelled to demonize them. That is a joke. Elect Trump if you want
that (Cillizza).

his campaign more ammunition on him. He shows to the public that he has thin skin,

Paraganglioma Case Study
Paraganglioma is a rare neoplasm of neuroendocrine origin which may develop at many different
anatomical sites including head and neck, thorax, and abdomen. The occurrence of paraganglioma in
lower spine is rare, but well established as one of the differential. The investigation of choice pre
operatively is magnetic resonance imaging4, which usually shows a very well circumscribed partially
cystic mass which is iso or hypointense to spinal cord on T1 weighted images, and hyperintense on T2
weighted images4. These MRI features are similar to other cauda equine tumors such as
ependymoma2. However sometimes MRI may show serpentine congested ectatic blood vessels with
cap sign (a low intensity signal rim) on T2 weighted images which are considered diagnostic for
paragangliomas2,7.
There have been quite a few instances where paragangliomas, ependymomas, and/or other cauda
equine tumor diagnosis has been difficult to differentiate. In fact the first case of paraganglioma was
published in 1970, even though it was initially thought to be an ependymoma4. Some authors have

Discovery Of Diamonds And Gold Diamonds
Discovery of Diamonds
Most all of the world has had a love affair with diamonds. They are sparkling, mesmerizingly
beautiful and considered rare gems. Yet, if you knew the history and the blood that is shed over the
133 million carats of diamonds mined each year, you would probably never buy a diamond again.
Diamonds have been considered valuable since they were found. To understand the diamond industry
we must first look at when they were discovered and where they are mined. Although, the first
diamonds discovered were not mined but found in alluvial deposits along the banks of Orange River
in India around 4000 BC. It s interesting to think that in both India and Africa the first diamonds were

this way. Angola also funded a war with over 3 billion worth of revenue from the diamond industry.
Behind all of this corruption in Africa one main diamond producer, the De Beer Family. It was an

managed to keep prices high by controlling the mining operations of the largest mine in Africa. Even
with all his efforts, as more diamond mines were discovered, the prices of diamonds dropped a bit in
the early 1900s. In order to counteract this, De Beers, was clever to hire an advertising agency to work
up a genius way of addressing the price decline by increasing the demand for quality diamonds. In
1947, De Beers managed to corner the market on the engagement ring and fine jewelry industry by
coining the term A diamond is forever and then many other successful slogans like Diamonds are a

capital. In Round 3, I had to sell some stocks as well as borrow money in order to meet up with the
expenses and debts of the organization. In Round 2, I decided to reposition a couple of my products in

Essay about Shakespeare s Manipulation of History Through...
In some of William Shakespeare s most famous works, he deviates from the historical truth to create
the final product of his works. He does this to please loyalty, as well as appeal to his audience at the
time. At the same time, Shakespeare also does this to help create a stronger bond between the reader
and the characters. To satisfy this, he implements many fictional pieces to his famous works. Macbeth
was one of these works as he wrote this in 1606 to honor James I becoming the king of England. To
please him, he altered many features of characters, as well as add in fictional characters. This changed
the plot of the story greatly, making it very different from the story Shakespeare bases it off of. In
addition, The Tragedy of Julius ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This led to a scene where a long line of Banquo s descendants would rule forever. He wrote this scene
to please James I, giving him the fantasy that all of his descendants would rule until the end of the
world. Another piece that he adds into the story are the Weird Sisters. These figures are meant to
throw Macbeth around, as they try to make him overconfident, so this will alter the way he handles
himself. Shakespeare very well could ve added in these characters to make the story more cohesive, as
the witches warn him Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane
Hill (Macbeth 127). Following this, towards the end of the play, Macbeth sees an illusion of many
moving trees (men holding branches) moving toward Dunsinane. This makes the play seem more
cohesive, as well as provide humor for the audience. In addition to this, James was also a believer and
a respected authority on witches. In 1599, he even wrote of witchcraft in his book Daemonologie.
Even to this day, this book still rivals in popularity with Shakespeare s other works. Shakespeare also
made changes to Macbeth s character and persona in the story. In the story he bases it off of, Macbeth
is more of a one dimensional character who served for the king of Scotland for ten years. In the real
story, he shows a lot more emotion, as shown through his constant change of feelings from guilt, to
remorse, etc. Shakespeare most likely added this in to

The Conflict Of Syrian Refugees, Hosting Countries And...
What do you want to be when you grow up? is the question that many children answer with
aspirations of hope and achievement. For 11 year old Hamsa the answer was a doctor but instead
living out his dream, his reality is hearing that his school was bombed just before his arrival to a
refugee camp in Jordan (UNHCR). Hamsa and other children make up 3 quarters out of the 7.5
million Syrians that have been internally displaced or become refugees due to the country s current
conflict (Jones and Shaheen). Although we can never fully fathom the obstacles and position of loss
faced by so many Syrians, we can try to better understand one of the worst humanitarian disasters of
our time. By recognizing the damaging results of Syria s civil war creating we can try to understand
numerous challenges for Syrian refugees, hosting countries and international organizations trying to
aid the effort. Migration According to Stalker there are two theories of migration: individual, where
one weighs the options in a strategic way such as provide economic advance and structural, where one
is forced to move due political, economic or social situations beyond their control (23). Syrians fall
under the structural approach where factors of conflict, violence and human right abuses push them
away from their country. Through increased violence and lack of human security, forced migration has
left many to be refugees and or internally displaced persons (IDPs) (Castles and Miller 56). The

neighborhoods were crowded and unsanitary, with inadequate public services. Many workers lived in
houses once occupied by middle and upper class residents, now divided and subdivided to

could cause major life threatening complications and challenges. There seems to be tons of knowledge

assisting a doctor in surgery, for example. Having proper education and some sort of common sense is
a necessity no matter what it may possibly be. Therefore, when it comes to relying on nursing, a robot
might not be the best option. According to Nikki Cob and the San Bernardino County Sun, they feel as

Sports Injury Litigation
Parent s Top Concerns for Potential Sports Injury Litigation
There are few things more intertwined than sports, and American s love of watching and playing
sports. This dynamic is a fundamental part of who we are as a nation. Unfortunately, like anything else
in life, there is a real possibility of being injured while playing sports, or watching sports as a
spectator.
However, determining who is responsible for sports injuries can be a difficult process given the nature
of sports and its inherent unpredictability. Most injuries to participants or bystanders are simply bad
luck or occur under conditions that no one can anticipate or prepare for. The following are some
legitimate questions and concerns pertaining to injuries incurred while ... Show more content on

A New Class of Football Injury: Abdominal Injuries
It is not just concussions that atheletes and their families should be concerned about. Many high
school players have experienced severe, even fatal, abdominal injuries, necessitating the introduction

Gentle Into That Good Night
The poem Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night is a very deeply, intriguing poem. In life, it s truly
painful when someone passes away, no matter the condition. When someone leaves physically, they
mentally and emotionally take pieces of you with them. It s like their souls somehow grasp the parts of
you that connected to them. And that is where the emptiness comes from. The speaker could not be
identified, however it could be a man or woman speaking about the terminating life of the one they
love. It also shows the speaker has a deep sense of value for life, and it truly means something to them
when a life comes to an end. In the poem, the speaker is addressing his/her father and the sickness that
is within his father. The speaker really ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lithium Ion Batteries For Electric Vehicle Batteries Essay
Introduction
A lithium ion (Li ion) battery is a type of rechargeable battery which uses a lithium ion that moves
from a positive electrode (cathode) to a negative electrode (anode) during charging and vice versa
during discharge. Lithium ion batteries are less environmentally damaging than batteries containing
heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury, but recycling them is still far preferable to incinerating
them or sending them to landfill. Lithium ion batteries are made up of one or more generating
compartments called cells. Each cell is composed of three components: an anode, a cathode, and a
chemical called an electrolyte in between them.
Lithium ion batteries are becoming more common in portable electronic devices due to their high
energy density, lack of memory effect, and high charge and discharge rate capabilities. Research and
development work is ongoing to improve safety and increase capacity, charge/discharge rate, and
lifetime. Demand for electric vehicle batteries is currently small, but it is expected to grow very
quickly. China, Japan, South Korea, France, and the United States are the major lithium ion battery
manufacturers for hybrid and electric vehicle applications.
A lot of information from different sources was gathered with the purpose of comparing different Li
ion batteries mechanisms, cathode and anode materials, structure and fabrication procedures, and their
respective advantages and disadvantages.

The Importance Of Poverty In Literature
The way things are written can have an effect on the audience drawn in. Most people are used to
generalized, every day vocabulary, as opposed to more complex and intricate words and grammar.
When reading an article, the easier the words are to interpret, the easier the article is to read. However,
this is not always the case. Sometimes, papers are going to be written using more advanced
vocabulary. They may even include data in the form of charts and tables. This is when it gets harder
for a general audience to read and interpret. It may be more accurate and scientific, but is it too
complex for people the comprehend? For example, there is a controversial topic of poverty on the rise.
Some people believe it is due to how one grows up, others believe it is the lack of compensation, and
some even believe it all deals with race. The two articles, What Do We Think Poverty Looks Like? ,
written by Tracie McMillan, and, Poverty, Race, and the Contexts of Achievement: Examining
Education Experiences of Children in the U.S. South , written by Maryah Stela Fram, Julie E. Miller
Cribbs, and Lee Van Horn, reveal thoughts on what contributes to poverty. The difference is, these two
articles are using two very different genres. The scholarly article, written by Maryah Stella Fram, Julie
E. Miller Cribbs, and Lee Van Horn focuses on poverty and what social workers can do to minimize
the effects. The writers of this article chose to focus on an expert audience that have deep knowledge

2009). Pathologic fracture and septations are frequently reported, and the septations are usually thin
and may extend throughout the tumor(Singh et al., 2009). MRI provides more details of the
extraosseous extension cortical penetration and associated soft tissue mass than X ray and CT (Singh

Schindler s List Analysis

first, he only really focused on himself and getting money. A bit selfish. I think deep down he was a
good man at heart. He defenitly dealed with things a lot better than others did. The other man was
horrible he had no empathy what so ever for other people. Not even children. Sometimes there was no
reason behind killing innocent people, he did it simply because he felt like it. There was a time when
schindler actually tried to prevent him from killing people without thinking. The bad guy said that
killing meant he had power, but schindler said that having the ability too kill and not doing so but
forgive is real power. The bad guy didnt really get it at first and just kind of laughed at him. The next

Chaos In The Odyssey
As I began to read Homer s The Odyssey, I must admit that I was searching for acts of chaos in the

However, Homer does something different. He imbeds his imagery of chaos in the journey of
Odysseus s son (Telemachus) to avenge his father by getting rid of his mother s suitors, and by
bringing word of his father s return back to Ithaca. One chaotic point that stood out to me in Homer s
The odyssey was when Telemachus was expressing his fear of living in his own home because he was
afraid his mother s suitors would kill him They are eating us out of house and home, and will kill me
someday (184). This was a chaotic point because during the time

Disadvantages Of Biometric System
1. Introduction
Biometric technology provides several advantages over conventional security methods like pin,
password, key, card etc. The Biometric system grants authentication by different physiological and
behavioral traits of a person.
Biometric systems are basically of two types based on the use of a biometric trait for identification and
verification. The types of biometric system are
Unimodal biometric system
Multimodal biometric system
The Unimodal system has an only single source of information for authorization of a valid user.

How individual users acting independently and rationally according to their own self interests behave
contrary to the common good of all users by depleting that resource. How these resources are

Climate change is defined as, a change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns when that

growth from depletion of natural resources by drastically reducing the amount of natural resources

This can come from using wind, solar, and hydro energy. These are clean energy sources that first

Colloidal Silver Nutritional Supplements Essay

of its most famous proponents. Paul Karason died in September of 2013, Karason gained fame after

argyria was caused by his ingestion of silver, he drank colloidal silver to treat his dermatitis (Netburn.

The prevalence of argyria prior to 1800 has not been documented, but it was reported to be associated
with a reduced mortality rate during epidemics of plague and other infectious diseases.
(Alexander, 2009, p.290)
During the period 1800 to 1900 dressings with silver nitrate were used to treat skin ulcers and other
types of wounds (Alexander, 2009). In the 1880 s, Doctor Carl Siegmund Franz Crede introduced the
use of silver nitrate eye drops to successfully prevent gonorrheal ophthalmia in newborns (Alexander,
2009, p.291). In the period between 1900 and 1940, colloidal silver was consumed by patients and
silver was also given intravenously; but it was later discovered in high doses parenterally, the silver
could cause gastrointestinal disturbances, convulsions or death (Alexander, 2009, p.291). The use
discovery and use of antibiotics has resulted in greatly decreased use of parenteral silver products by
today s allopathic doctors.
Treatment Methods Kevin Trudeau in his book Natural cures they don t want you to know about ,
writes that gargling with colloidal silver is a treatment for bacterial infection, viral infection, Candida
and even for parasites (2004). The author provides no studies to confirm his recommendations and the

Andersonville Prison epitomized the ultimate crime against humanity. The atrocities that transpired in
this confederate prison sparked reaction and outrage at the conclusion of the Civil War. During the
American Civil War, a prisoner of war was a person who was captured and imprisoned by the enemy.
Both the Union and the Confederates had to deal with such matters of prisoners of war. According to

194,000 Union soldiers and about 214,000 Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. (Boritt 1989)

Krzysztof Sujata s Valiska Essay
Calgary musician Krzysztof Sujata s Valiska project makes music that toes the line between ambient
and drone often relying on peaceful soundscapes dotted with piano to set a framework, then
occasionally building to a towering crescendo with a web of static. It s all very naturally motivated,
though fittingly for its album art, Repetitions is sparsely organic, with plenty of room to breathe chilly
and cozy breaths. It s a record that challenges you to take much from very little over 40 minutes, there
is rarely any rhythmic movement. It s true ambient music, and while it sometimes falls into uninspired
territory, Repetitions is still quite an interesting, minimalistic world to explore.
Clearing , the album s seven minute opener, sets the tone here to looped woodwinds and pianos, it
spins a thoughtful and experimental kind of patchwork of melodies. The song s second half works
through this same strange melody with reversed pianos, an unofficial musical motif for the record.
These pianos are often the album s greatest flaw; pretty, yes, but often quite dull, especially ... Show

Glide crescendos brilliantly out of a pensive piano line; the onslaught of clarinets, oboes, and bassoons
is nicely supplemented with a steely, shimmering synth effect at the end. Dawn , the album s lead
single, does something similar, if more elevated: here, a quavering field of piano and flutes suddenly
erupts into a hazy throbbing bass, then cools down with an organ sound on the periphery, which
reminds me to some extent of Hans Zimmer s score for Interstellar. It s an excellent piece, maybe the
best on the record; another standout is Held , whose heavenly and mysterious flute line floats far
above the raging far away storm of sound below it. It sounds like music for a cold, alien planet; this is

The Term Cochlear Amplifier, Coined By Thomas Gold
The term cochlear amplifier, coined by Thomas Gold in 1948, can be described as a positive feedback
mechanism whereby outer hair cells amplify displacements of the basilar membrane in the cochlea. It
characterises the collection of processes that increase sound vibrations in the inner ear (Ashmore Gale,
2004). Sounds are generated by movement of air molecules that create changes in air pressure. These
changes in pressure are called compressions, when the molecules are closer together, and rarefication,
when the molecules are less densely packed and are cyclic, thus making a pressure wave. The human
auditory system is able to respond to these pressure waves over a range of about 20 hertz (Hz) to
20,000 Hz. The intensity of a sound is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This electromotility of the OHCs has been attributed to the motor protein, prestin, which is embedded
in the cell membrane, and it is the role of these mechanical changes that has been identified in
amplifying the vibrations of the cochlea in the transduction of sound (Zheng et al., 2000). The
outcome is an enhancement of the basilar membrane amplitude by more than one hundred times
(Davies, 2014).
The key to the cochlea amplifier mechanism is the prestin motor protein as it is this that underlies the
activity of the OHCs. On the apical surface of sensory hair cells are finger like projections, forming
hair bundles, called stereocilia. These stereocilia bathe in a cochlear fluid containing about 145 mM of
potassium which is called endolymph. The deflection of a single stereocilium invokes a pull on a
spring which links to the tip of the neighbouring stereocilium and thus pulls it in the same direction. A
domino effect subsequently occurs until the whole hair bundle has been moved. This process causes
mechanically gated transducer channels, which are non selectively permeable to cations and are
located at the base of the tip links, to open. This provides a passage for potassium to enter the hair
cells down its electrochemical gradient as the electric potential of the endolymph, +80 mV, is much
greater than that of the hair cell body, between 55 mV and 70

Polis Aristotle
Aristotle contends that achieving human happiness and well being is impossible without living in a
city because human beings are political animals and therefore politics is an elemental part of the good
life. Aristotle bases this claim off of the argument that politics and city formation is a natural part of
being human because humans have an inherent impulse to create associations and partnerships that
eventually evolve into political communities, or the polis. These partnerships arise first from two
individual s who need each other to survive (1252b) then to households which extend to become
villages (1252b16), to eventually fully formed self sufficient cities (1252b27). Aristotle s argues that
the polis is prior to all other partnerships (1253a20) because the partnerships are parts that make up
the whole, the polis, and therefore all humans are drawn to create and associate with the ... Show more

By virtue of establishing the partnerships as natural, Aristotle is successful in asserting that the
political is fundamental to human nature and in order for individuals to experience the good life they
must be members of the city (1253a20). To back this claim, Aristotle uses a metaphor of the city as the
body and the citizen as the limb and argues that comparable to the limbs separating from the body, the
individual is not self sufficient when separated from the city and therefore possesses a natural impulse
towards creating and remaining in the polis (1253a25). Furthermore, Aristotle supports this claim by
contending the one who is in need of nothing through being self sufficient is no part of a city and so is
either a beast or a god (1253a27). As a result, all individuals need the city to achieve the good life, and
if they do not need the city they are not

Flat Characters
In this article, Clay compares the iconic works of Charles Dickens David Copperfield, Leo Tolstoy s
War and Peace, and Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice in order to argue for the vitality of flat
characters. Through the use of these extremely contrasting novels, Clay contends that when used
correctly, flat characters can be as memorable and impactful as seen in the likes of Pride and
Prejudice. The vitality of flat characters is a pushing point of both Elizabeth s lack of a hero s journey
and proving Austen s literary ability; thereby allowing this article to have dual uses. Had Jane Austen
not made her flat characters as impactful as she did, Elizabeth may have been able to experience a
complete hero s journey. However, seeing as how Austen has expertly utilized her flat characters, as
proved by this article, Elizabeth has yet to complete her hero s journey. This article was
multitudinously helpful to us as it added as extremely important point to our IOP topic to which we
had not thought of previously. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This article is especially interesting as it takes a semi controversial stance, saying that Elizabeth is in
fact not a feminist. Such is an interestingly unique approach and is one that is rarely brought up; much
like our own topic. Such an article was useful in the defending of our IOP in the sense that Francis
brings about fine points in regards to the lack of pure feminism within Pride and Prejudice. Since
feminism would be an ideal result of a hero s journey on Elizabeth s part, and such is lacking from the
novel, the points that Francis bring up to prove such a lack are relevant to our point as

A Documentary On Tattoos And How They Affect Human...
I conducted a survey and three interviews to create a documentary on tattoos and how they affect
human relationships and interactions. This paper is an analysis of what it takes to make a
documentary. Documentary originates from the word document which means a film or article that
records factual information. Documentary means to present facts objectively without editing and
adding fictional information (Stott 6). Some of the first documents are from Benjamin Glassberg in
1938 and Saunders Redding 1951 before the word documentary was even created (Stott 6). At first, a
documentary was known as a human document because it had emotional ties to the information
though it was factual information (Stott 7). Emotion itself is completely subjective because not every
person in the world will have the same emotion to the same event. Thus giving birth to two different
kinds of documentaries official and human. In 1938, photography was introduced into the world of
documentaries by providing photographic proof of factual information. This brought about a bigger
war between objective and subjective documentaries because along with photos came more emotion
(Stott 11). How could an author of an official documentary choose photos without any bias? All this
information made me want to challenge myself and make an objective documentary on tattoos. I
personally have tattoos and plan on obtaining more so the challenge here is to take information
attained and record it without any of my own

Plastic Pollution And Its Effects
There are many forms of pollution that occur from oil spills, radioactive wastes, urban air pollution,
the release of greenhouse gases, or agricultural pollution, and one of the most preventable, plastic
pollution. Plastic pollution is an accumulation in the environment of man made plastic products to the
point that they become problematic and harmful to wildlife, wildlife habitats, or human populations.
This accumulation is due to the excessive use of plastics, which has become a worldwide issue, and is
accountable for approximately 10% of discarded waste. It has been calculated that 275 million metric
tons (MT) of plastic waste was produced in 192 coastal countries in 2010, with as much as 12.7
million MT entering the ocean (Jambeck et al., 2015). Plastic pollution can be classified based on the
overall size and thickness, as microdebris (2 µm), mesodebris (1 5 mm), or macrodebris ( 20 mm).
Plastic can be very harmful to the land, waterways, and the ocean due to its extremely slow
biodegrading process, which can exceed hundreds of years. Plastic debris can also be harmful to
marine life causing, entanglement, ingestion of plastic waste, and exposure to the chemicals within
plastics, which ultimately affect humans as well.
There are many types of plastics that exist. These varieties are classified based on the method of their
polymerization. Some of these classifications are as follows: polyethylene terephthalate (PET or
PETE), high density polyethylene (HDPE), polyvinyl

Small man who led a big nation Essay
The Small Man Who Led a Big Nation
Mahatma Gandhi was a national icon for the people of India between the years 1869 and 1948. He is
still remembered all over the world today. To follow the path of Gandhi one must traverse all regions
of India, from the houses of the highest officials to the poorest villages where the word poverty does
injustice. Gandhi led a fearless resistance against the British government, that oppressed his people,
and an endless pilgrimage to lift the spirits of his people(the people of India) to maturity. Gandhi was
very unique in his approach as he preached non violence and led a life similar to that of the most
downtrodden people of India.

Gandhi interacted with a diversified group of Indians while in Africa. He learned about many different
injustices Indians suffered from in Africa and in India. As his beliefs in satyagraha solidified his
reputation began to spread into India. It was about this time in 1914 that Gandhi returned to India.
The people of India, who were discouraged with Britain s policies, eagerly waited for Gandhi s return.
They had been showing dissent towards the government on a small scale, but they needed Gandhi s
political initiative and leadership. The British would not share industrial secrets, levied high taxes,
restricted industrial investment, and limited any kind of economic advancement for the Indians.
(Spodek 667). Gandhi began to assist several protests that had been initiated against the British and
got the Indians to participate in hartals. These hartals are similar to sit down strikes. At one sit down in
1919 the Indians were protesting the Rowlatt Acts. The British decided that they would show their
power and killed 379 people and injured over1100. This is when Gandhi and all of India proclaimed
non cooperation with Britain.
This action by the British led to two things: a new vigorous political movement and a grassroots
spiritual revival, both led by Gandhi. Gandhi rallied his Congress and people into a mass movement.
He emerged as a leader offering new

Argumentative Essay On Mermaids
Mermaids, half human, half fish, have been the subject of sailors fishtails for hundreds of years.
Obviously the idea of mermaids is nothing but mythology, nevertheless, you still find people trying to
prove the existence of these mythical beings. Popular culture has depicted mermaids in two drastically
different ways. One, as beautiful creatures able to draw in anyone without saying a word, who will do
no harm to humans; some go as far as saying they will help humans. The other, as evil, conniving
creatures, eager to lead men to their deaths. Long before there were mermaids ,some 4,000 years ago,
there was Ea, the Babylonian God of the sea. He had the lower body of a fish and the upper body of a
man, much like we see depicted today in mermaids. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Argument from Authority is when the person who is presenting evidence in an argument has no real
authority on the topic or facts relevant to the the claim being made. Christopher Columbus wasn t a
biologist, he was an explorer eager to find gold in a new world by any means necessary. If given the
opportunity he probably would have enslaved the mermaids had he actually encountered them. What
Columbus really encountered were nothing more than manatees. Manatees are animals with a large
body and a battle shaped tale, with a round face. They move slowly through warm water areas such as
the Caribbean. Up until Columbus defended upon the area he, nor his men, had encountered such
animals, making it very easy for them to confuse the two. When Columbus encountered his mermaids
he said ...he saw three mermaids who came quite high out of the water but were not as pretty as they
are depicted, for somehow in the face they look like men. (simon) (history)

  • 2. The Party Exited the Courtyard Minister Mike s party included Skylar, Ethan, Mr Pisher and a meager handful of the remaining students each of whom tolerated the midday sun as they walked single file around the massive Palace structure. The once magnificent lush grounds had turned into withering vegetation. Water was scarce. The new Government could not afford this luxurious expensive. Those who lived in the region did not know why the devoted groundskeepers had recently abandoned their post. Soon, it would become evident as Minister Mike s party continued around Egyptian style Palace. The Babylon summer Palace was shaped in a U design, so when Minister Mike saw the balcony above the first wing; he noticed Giselle by herself clutching the railing. She looked nauseated. He wanted to say something. However, Mike felt it best to leave her alone. Mike did not see Daniel ducking behind the balcony French door. The Minister s party rounded the Palace. There they strolled into the three sided courtyard. Marble terraced steps leaded from an Olympic size swimming pool to the main residence level. The scale of the Saddam s Babylon Palace would rival those in Europe; mounted above the Babylon ruins, it was easy to imagine the grand parties hosted poolside. Now a drained pool sat eroding with desert debris. The diving board was scattered from its mountings. It gave an eerie appearance to the dismal Palace grounds. Skylar ascended the steps into the pool, and turn back to the Minister. She mimicked a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Theme Of Conflict In Interlopers,The Use Of Division... Say someone comes up to you, and insults you, right in your face. What would you do? Many would probably say they would fight, yell, or shun said person. But, what does that help? As Martin Luther King Junior once said, Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. In this day and age, many believe war and division is the only way to achieve peace; Although it seems that way, unity is a solution many can see, but cannot truly achieve, as it is a rare occurrence. In the short story Interlopers , Saki uses conflict, and in the poem Mending Wall , Frost uses character to show that there is always a chance to resolve problems with unity, but that is simply a rare conclusion for almost everyone. In Interlopers , Saki s use of conflict shows division and war. First, while Ulrich and Georg are hunting each other in the woods, their hate for each other is stressed; If there was a man in the world whom [Ulrich] detested and wished ill to, it was Georg Znaeym, the inheritor of the quarrel... Ulrich and Georg s hatred is sparked by this plot of land that has been passed down for generations, that both families want to own for themselves; The forest lands of Gradwitz were of wide extent and well stocked with game... A famous lawsuit, in the days of his grandfather, This is the conflict of man vs. man to show war, and their division by being against each other. But, as soon as Ulrich and Georg find each other, a tree crashes down, and they are stuck together, forced to talk ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Monastic life plays a significant part in many Christian churches, particularly the Catholic and Orthodox traditions. The goal was always to grow the spirit and break the body. According to the book, turning points, the monastic contribution is to whatever is pure, noble, right true, lovely and admirable. The early monk and the nuns were motivated to seek the monastic life because they were looking for something flawless. They want to give their lives completely to Christ. I think the Christians will make every effort to have the world accessible in all and new environments. I think they will also focus on the union of all Christians, although there is freedom of religion, as you know each religion favors their own. What will be your place in it? I think the Christian church today is face with a direction issue we hear on the news that a lot has been going with Priests, Pastors Etc., in the other hand, now more people are focusing on Christ. Places that no one knew or heard about Jesus start to familiarize with the Gospel. I think, what the Church should be focusing more on is the connection with each other as Christians, as the old traditions. As followers, we re not supposed to be individuals, we need to help each built the kingdom of Christ. • 5. Objectivity And Journalism Every journalist student will tell you that the most important aspect of being a journalist is to be impartial, objective, and to always report the facts not your opinion. Everyone knows what objectivity means, yet do they all follow the rules? Is it even possible for journalists to be objective? Most importantly, is objectivity a concept that even exists? I m going to examine the evidence. We live in a word where most journalists and news corporations are labeled as being corrupt , biased and deliberately misinforming. Corporations such as FOX news in the US is constantly criticised as being propaganda for right wing bias, and in the UK we have similar situations with the BBC, Sky News, and newspapers such as The Sun and the Daily Mail. In truth, pretty much every news outlet on the planet shows a certain degree of bias and non objectivity. Objectivity is the main ethos of journalism, being one of the first things a journalism student is taught. It gives journalists a set of rules to report news accurately and without bias in favour of a particular party. Though certain aspects of this can differ should you be a columnist or feature writer, this tends to be the general consensus. A quick skim through the dictionary tells us that objectivity is The quality or character of being objective; (in later use) esp. the ability to consider or represent facts, information, etc., without being influenced by personal feelings or opinions; impartiality; detachment. Yet, if you knew the history and the blood that is shed over the 133 million carats of diamonds mined each year, you would probably never buy a diamond again. Diamonds have been considered valuable since they were found. To understand the diamond industry we must first look at when they were discovered and where they are mined. In order to counteract this, De Beers, was clever to hire an advertising agency to work up a genius way of addressing the price decline by increasing the demand for quality diamonds. • 13. Essay about Shakespeare s Manipulation of History Through... In some of William Shakespeare s most famous works, he deviates from the historical truth to create the final product of his works. He does this to please loyalty, as well as appeal to his audience at the time. At the same time, Shakespeare also does this to help create a stronger bond between the reader and the characters. To satisfy this, he implements many fictional pieces to his famous works. Macbeth was one of these works as he wrote this in 1606 to honor James I becoming the king of England. To please him, he altered many features of characters, as well as add in fictional characters. This led to a scene where a long line of Banquo s descendants would rule forever. He wrote this scene to please James I, giving him the fantasy that all of his descendants would rule until the end of the world. Another piece that he adds into the story are the Weird Sisters. These figures are meant to throw Macbeth around, as they try to make him overconfident, so this will alter the way he handles himself. Shakespeare very well could ve added in these characters to make the story more cohesive, as the witches warn him Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill (Macbeth 127). Following this, towards the end of the play, Macbeth sees an illusion of many moving trees (men holding branches) moving toward Dunsinane. This makes the play seem more cohesive, as well as provide humor for the audience. In addition to this, James was also a believer and a respected authority on witches. In 1599, he even wrote of witchcraft in his book Daemonologie. Even to this day, this book still rivals in popularity with Shakespeare s other works. Shakespeare also made changes to Macbeth s character and persona in the story. In the story he bases it off of, Macbeth is more of a one dimensional character who served for the king of Scotland for ten years. In the real story, he shows a lot more emotion, as shown through his constant change of feelings from guilt, to remorse, etc. Shakespeare most likely added this in to ... For 11 year old Hamsa the answer was a doctor but instead living out his dream, his reality is hearing that his school was bombed just before his arrival to a refugee camp in Jordan (UNHCR). Hamsa and other children make up 3 quarters out of the 7.5 million Syrians that have been internally displaced or become refugees due to the country s current conflict (Jones and Shaheen). Although we can never fully fathom the obstacles and position of loss faced by so many Syrians, we can try to better understand one of the worst humanitarian disasters of our time. By recognizing the damaging results of Syria s civil war creating we can try to understand numerous challenges for Syrian refugees, hosting countries and international organizations trying to aid the effort. Going from a small British settlement initially limited to the Shawmut Peninsula to a busy merchant seaport in 1850 to the industrial metropolis by the 1900 s. The changes can be seen in three main areas sizes, population, and ethnic composition. The city more than tripled its sizes by filling in marshes, mud flats, and gaps between wharves down by the waterfront. Many of these working class neighborhoods were crowded and unsanitary, with inadequate public services. Many workers lived in houses once occupied by middle and upper class residents, now divided and subdivided to accommodate more people than the original builders had intended. Others squeezed into tenements, which were specially constructed to house as many families as possible. Small apartments were dark and stuffy and often had windowless rooms. A study of working class families in Massachusetts found the family of one skilled worker living in a tenement of five rooms in a pleasant and healthy locality, with good surroundings. • 25. Lithium Ion Batteries For Electric Vehicle Batteries Essay Introduction A lithium ion (Li ion) battery is a type of rechargeable battery which uses a lithium ion that moves from a positive electrode (cathode) to a negative electrode (anode) during charging and vice versa during discharge. Lithium ion batteries are less environmentally damaging than batteries containing heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury, but recycling them is still far preferable to incinerating them or sending them to landfill. Lithium ion batteries are made up of one or more generating compartments called cells. Each cell is composed of three components: an anode, a cathode, and a chemical called an electrolyte in between them. Lithium ion batteries are becoming more common in portable electronic devices due to their high energy density, lack of memory effect, and high charge and discharge rate capabilities. Research and development work is ongoing to improve safety and increase capacity, charge/discharge rate, and lifetime. Demand for electric vehicle batteries is currently small, but it is expected to grow very quickly. China, Japan, South Korea, France, and the United States are the major lithium ion battery manufacturers for hybrid and electric vehicle applications. Most people are used to generalized, every day vocabulary, as opposed to more complex and intricate words and grammar. When reading an article, the easier the words are to interpret, the easier the article is to read. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes, papers are going to be written using more advanced vocabulary. They may even include data in the form of charts and tables. This is when it gets harder for a general audience to read and interpret. It may be more accurate and scientific, but is it too complex for people the comprehend? Some people believe it is due to how one grows up, others believe it is the lack of compensation, and some even believe it all deals with race. • 41. Krzysztof Sujata s Valiska Essay Calgary musician Krzysztof Sujata s Valiska project makes music that toes the line between ambient and drone often relying on peaceful soundscapes dotted with piano to set a framework, then occasionally building to a towering crescendo with a web of static. It s all very naturally motivated, though fittingly for its album art, Repetitions is sparsely organic, with plenty of room to breathe chilly and cozy breaths. It s a record that challenges you to take much from very little over 40 minutes, there is rarely any rhythmic movement. It s true ambient music, and while it sometimes falls into uninspired territory, Repetitions is still quite an interesting, minimalistic world to explore. Clearing , the album s seven minute opener, sets the tone here to looped woodwinds and pianos, it spins a thoughtful and experimental kind of patchwork of melodies. The song s second half works through this same strange melody with reversed pianos, an unofficial musical motif for the record. These pianos are often the album s greatest flaw; pretty, yes, but often quite dull, especially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 42. The Term Cochlear Amplifier, Coined By Thomas Gold The term cochlear amplifier, coined by Thomas Gold in 1948, can be described as a positive feedback mechanism whereby outer hair cells amplify displacements of the basilar membrane in the cochlea. It characterises the collection of processes that increase sound vibrations in the inner ear (Ashmore Gale, 2004). Sounds are generated by movement of air molecules that create changes in air pressure. These changes in pressure are called compressions, when the molecules are closer together, and rarefication, when the molecules are less densely packed and are cyclic, thus making a pressure wave. The human auditory system is able to respond to these pressure waves over a range of about 20 hertz (Hz) to 20,000 Hz. The intensity of a sound is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This electromotility of the OHCs has been attributed to the motor protein, prestin, which is embedded in the cell membrane, and it is the role of these mechanical changes that has been identified in amplifying the vibrations of the cochlea in the transduction of sound (Zheng et al., 2000). The outcome is an enhancement of the basilar membrane amplitude by more than one hundred times (Davies, 2014). The key to the cochlea amplifier mechanism is the prestin motor protein as it is this that underlies the activity of the OHCs. On the apical surface of sensory hair cells are finger like projections, forming hair bundles, called stereocilia. These stereocilia bathe in a cochlear fluid containing about 145 mM of potassium which is called endolymph. The deflection of a single stereocilium invokes a pull on a spring which links to the tip of the neighbouring stereocilium and thus pulls it in the same direction. A domino effect subsequently occurs until the whole hair bundle has been moved. This process causes mechanically gated transducer channels, which are non selectively permeable to cations and are located at the base of the tip links, to open. This provides a passage for potassium to enter the hair cells down its electrochemical gradient as the electric potential of the endolymph, +80 mV, is much greater than that of the hair cell body, between 55 mV and 70 ... • 43. Polis Aristotle Aristotle contends that achieving human happiness and well being is impossible without living in a city because human beings are political animals and therefore politics is an elemental part of the good life. Aristotle bases this claim off of the argument that politics and city formation is a natural part of being human because humans have an inherent impulse to create associations and partnerships that eventually evolve into political communities, or the polis. These partnerships arise first from two individual s who need each other to survive (1252b) then to households which extend to become villages (1252b16), to eventually fully formed self sufficient cities (1252b27). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By virtue of establishing the partnerships as natural, Aristotle is successful in asserting that the political is fundamental to human nature and in order for individuals to experience the good life they must be members of the city (1253a20). Furthermore, Aristotle supports this claim by contending the one who is in need of nothing through being self sufficient is no part of a city and so is either a beast or a god (1253a27). • 45. A Documentary On Tattoos And How They Affect Human... I conducted a survey and three interviews to create a documentary on tattoos and how they affect human relationships and interactions. This paper is an analysis of what it takes to make a documentary. Documentary originates from the word document which means a film or article that records factual information. Documentary means to present facts objectively without editing and adding fictional information (Stott 6). Some of the first documents are from Benjamin Glassberg in 1938 and Saunders Redding 1951 before the word documentary was even created (Stott 6). At first, a documentary was known as a human document because it had emotional ties to the information though it was factual information (Stott 7). Emotion itself is completely subjective because not every person in the world will have the same emotion to the same event. Thus giving birth to two different kinds of documentaries official and human. In 1938, photography was introduced into the world of documentaries by providing photographic proof of factual information. This brought about a bigger war between objective and subjective documentaries because along with photos came more emotion (Stott 11). How could an author of an official documentary choose photos without any bias? All this information made me want to challenge myself and make an objective documentary on tattoos. Plastic Pollution And Its Effects There are many forms of pollution that occur from oil spills, radioactive wastes, urban air pollution, the release of greenhouse gases, or agricultural pollution, and one of the most preventable, plastic pollution. Plastic pollution is an accumulation in the environment of man made plastic products to the point that they become problematic and harmful to wildlife, wildlife habitats, or human populations. This accumulation is due to the excessive use of plastics, which has become a worldwide issue, and is accountable for approximately 10% of discarded waste. It has been calculated that 275 million metric tons (MT) of plastic waste was produced in 192 coastal countries in 2010, with as much as 12.7 million MT entering the ocean (Jambeck et al., 2015). Plastic pollution can be classified based on the overall size and thickness, as microdebris (2 µm), mesodebris (1 5 mm), or macrodebris ( 20 mm). Plastic can be very harmful to the land, waterways, and the ocean due to its extremely slow biodegrading process, which can exceed hundreds of years. Plastic debris can also be harmful to marine life causing, entanglement, ingestion of plastic waste, and exposure to the chemicals within plastics, which ultimately affect humans as well. The people of India, who were discouraged with Britain s policies, eagerly waited for Gandhi s return. They had been showing dissent towards the government on a small scale, but they needed Gandhi s political initiative and leadership. The British would not share industrial secrets, levied high taxes, restricted industrial investment, and limited any kind of economic advancement for the Indians. (Spodek 667). Gandhi began to assist several protests that had been initiated against the British and got the Indians to participate in hartals. These hartals are similar to sit down strikes. At one sit down in 1919 the Indians were protesting the Rowlatt Acts. The British decided that they would show their power and killed 379 people and injured over1100. Obviously the idea of mermaids is nothing but mythology, nevertheless, you still find people trying to prove the existence of these mythical beings. One, as beautiful creatures able to draw in anyone without saying a word, who will do no harm to humans; some go as far as saying they will help humans. The other, as evil, conniving creatures, eager to lead men to their deaths.
