giving kids too much too soon. As a parent gives these things, literal objects and figurative things,
too soon, they are actually letting the power in their relationship shift and giving the kids more

this analysis. First, this paper looks at how planners and commanders interpreted pre invasion
civilian policy guidance, their understanding of the current operational environment, and how these

approach. After discussing this initial approach, this paper examines how commanders assessed
the campaign and refined the approach to include how the reframing occurred. Lastly, it provides
examples of how these lessons learned shaped current joint planning policy and doctrine. Based on

The story begins with Tom Joad hitchhiking with a truck driver, to whom he reveals that he has
been released on parole from the state penitentiary. While walking along a desolate road, he
encounters a man named Jim Casy who is a preacher Tom remembers from his childhood. Casy
explains to Tom why he is no longer a preacher because he has supposedly lost his dosage of the
Holy Spirit. He still believes in the Holy Spirit, but not consequently the traditional expectations
mandated by organized religion. Instead, Casy argues, the Holy Spirit is love not just the love of
God or Jesus, but the love of all mankind.
Tom invites Casy to join him on his walk home, only to find it completely deserted. A man named
Muley Graves, who is one of the family s neighbors, tells Tom that his family has been forced off
of their land by the bank, which owns the land. The Joads have temporarily moved in with his
Uncle John and are preparing to leave for California to search for work. The three men spend the
night in a cave near the abandoned farm and travel to Uncle John s house the next morning.
The entire family is preparing for the long journey ahead to California when Tom and Casy
arrive. Casy asks the Joads if he can travel west with them and they agree to take him in the
hopes of a potential blessing. Once all of their possessions have been sold to junkyards and used
car lots, everyone except for Granpa Joad is anxious to begin the journey. As they begin pack the

Research Project Agency, it grows from a paper architecture into a small network (ARPANET)
meant to promote the sharing of super computers amongst researchers in the United States.

could come into the cooperate world. In 1969 researchers at four US campuses created the first
hosts of the ARPANET. They connected the Stanford Research Institute, UCLA, UC Santa
Barbara, and the University of Utah. The ARPANET was a success from the very beginning.
Although originally designed to allow scientists to share data and access remote computers, email
quickly became the most popular application. The ARPANET became a high speed digital post
office as people use it to collaborate on research projects and discuss topics of various interests. In
1971 the ARPANET grows to 23 hosts connecting universities and government research centers
