United States Presidential Election Analysis
The United States presidential election is one of the most important things that happens to us as
U.S citizens. We wait four years to see if our previous president has done the job we wanted him
to do, and if not, we get to elect a knew leader of our country. The President has a lot of influence
on our country, therefore we want to elect the best one for our nation. Thus, our founding fathers
created the electoral college. Designing the mode of selecting the President had to be one of the
most difficult tasks that confronted the framers. The difficulty in the legislative case lay in the fact
that almost all delegates knew exactly what they wanted, but different delegates wanted different
things: small state delegates wanted to preserve the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of the candidates were highly favored. Govenor of Texas George W. Bush and vice
president Al Gore watched as the results were coming in. Out of the 105,545,316 voters, it came
down to just over 500,000 votes in favor of Gore (International, 2014)(don t know if should use).
That statistically is a difference of less than 1% of the people that voted. Gore had the popular
vote, so he wins the election. Many Americans thought that was the case, and unaware that the
popular vote doesn t automatically assume the presidency. Once the votes are counted, the electoral
college is the final supreme step to determine the president. The president of the United States of
America is not truly elected by the people, but by a group of 538 representatives known as the
Electoral college. Every state has members of the college, including anywhere from 3 to 55. The
number of members is decided by the states population, so yes, technically if you live in a small
populated state you have less influence on who the president will be. The members are typically
local politicians of your state, and normally are inclined to vote with the states popular vote. This
type of electoral system creates a checks and balance, similar to that of the federal branches of
government in the United

The Construction of Wivenhoe Dam Essay
Based on the events that lead to the devastating floods in Queensland and the eventual case that
was brought against the engineers of the dam, there have been views from both sides of the divide
as to whether or not the actions taken by the engineers were actually ethical or otherwise. We have
explored this avenue and have found that both sides of the divide have good reasons to justify their
actions. Firstly, we shall explore the avenue that the engineers decisions were appropriate and
ethical. It can be said that the engineers did employ act utilitarianism in their decisions and actions,
hence causing these decisions to be ethically correct. Act utilitarianism is essentially doing the right
thing, which would benefit the majority of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The engineers at the dam had no choice, and had to take the most appropriate action, which would
benefit the people living in the surrounding areas the most, based on the situation, as a result,
they had to release the water and not allow it to go beyond the 200 per cent capacity limit. If they
allowed the water capacity in the dam to go beyond the 200 percent capacity limit, that would
mean that the secondary spillway will be activated and they would not be able to control the water
flow, which would then lead to the flood levels rapidly rising. Should this occur, there is a high
chance that the loss of lives would be significantly higher, and the amount of damage would be
much worse than what had actually occurred in 2011. More so, in the event that no action was
taken at all, and the water levels began to rise at a much higher rate, until water started to spill
over the dam wall, there would have been a possibility that the dam wall would have started to
erode. With the additional pressure buildup from the water it is holding back, it would have been
possible that the dam wall could have then collapsed completely, which would possibly have
wiped out the whole city. Judging by this, the actions taken by the engineers then are ethical and
correct, as if it was not for their action to release the water, the damage that could have occurred
would have been significantly worse, and would have caused more grievous harm to the majority of
the population of

Essay about Explanations of Personality Development
Explanations of Personality Development
According to Sigmund Freud, what we do and why we do it, who we are and how we became
this way are all related to our sexual drive. Differences in personalities originate in differences in
childhood sexual experiences. In the Freudian psychoanalytical model, child personality
development is discussed in terms of psychosexual stages . In his Three Essays on Sexuality
(1915), Freud outlined five stages of manifestations of the sexual drive: Oral, Anal, Phallic,
Latency, and Genital. At each stage, different areas of the child s body become the focus of his
pleasure and the principal source of sexual arousal. Differences in satisfying the sexual urges at each

The superego is the Freudian structure of personality that is the moral branch of personality. The
superego takes into account whether something is right or wrong. The superego as what we often
refer to as our conscience.
During the oral stage (birth to 18 months), the child if focused on oral pleasures (e.g. sucking).
Too much or too little gratification can result in an Oral Fixation or Oral Personality, which is
evidenced by an obsession with oral activities. This type of personality may have a stronger
tendency to smoke, drink alcohol, over eat, or bite his or her nails. Personality wise, these
individuals may become overly dependent upon others, gullible, and group followers. On the other
hand, they may also fight these urges and develop negative personalities and aggression toward
others.
In the Anal Stage (18 months to three years), the child s focus of pleasure is on eliminating and
retaining faeces. Through society s pressure, mainly via parents, the child has to learn to control
anal stimulation. In terms of personality, after effects of an anal fixation during this stage can result
in an obsession with cleanliness, perfection, and control (anal retentive). On the opposite end of the
spectrum, they may become messy and disorganized (anal expulsive).
The pleasure zone in Phallic Stage (ages three to six) switches to

A Light Hearted Look Back At Slot Game Scams Of The Past
Blog 31 A light hearted look back at slot game scams of the past
When you visit an online casino portal forum, scams and cons are often a hot topic of discussion.
The approach that many online casino games take is ruthless and often more damaging than most
can even fathom. However, it wasn t always the case of criminals taking on players, it was once a
case that criminals would target the casinos themselves. In many Robin Hood like acts some smart
thinking criminals would try and rob casino slot games through various old fashioned methods.
Illegal yet still carrying a sense of resourceful charm, the following looks back at several scams of
slot games past.

But cheaters aren t often deterred, so they developed a new scam to beat it. They started to
shave coins to mess with the system in place, as when a shaved coin was entered it would
register with the system before dropping into the refund tray. Much like the yo yo scam it would
allow players to play for free over and over again.
The Fake Coin
As time progressed and slot machines became more and more sophisticated, so did the scams
associated with them. Arguably the most famous scam of all is the fake coin, devised by Louis
The Coin Colavecchio, a player would create a fully fake coin that a slot machine would recognise
as legitimate. This scam achieved such infamy that several documentary films have been made
about its uses and origins.
The Piano Wire
It was a popular tool amongst mobsters in the 1960s, but it seems that slot game players also
found plenty of use for it as well. During the 1980s a group of men would use piano wire on a
slot machine. By sliding the 20 inch wire into the machines wiring they were able to rig the
machine and trigger its jackpot, banking $50,000. However, their victory was short lived, as they
would be caught by the police shortly after.
The Light Wand
At first glance a light wand looks like a fairly innocuous device, but to those who like to rig slot
games it is anything but. In the hands of the wrong people it is a powerful tool that allows for slot
machine mechanism manipulation. When

How Does John Locke Write An Essay Concerning Human...
John Locke in An Essay Concerning Human Understanding argues that there can be made a
distinction between ideas in the mind and qualities in bodies. Ideas are whatsoever the mind
perceives in itself, or is the immediate object of perception, thought, or understanding (Locke II.8
В§8). The power to produce any idea in our mindis what Locke calls the quality of a subject in
which that power is. A snowball has the power to produce in us the ideas of round, white, and cold
as they are in a snowball, which is its quality. The sensations and perceptions in our understanding
is what Locke calls ideas.
The qualities are divided into two categories: the primary and the secondary qualities. The original
or primary qualities are inseparable from a

Looking For The Godfather
I believe the most important message in this story is to not abuse power. In the beginning of the
story a man was looking for a godfather for his son, the Lord was first to show up but the man
said no because the Lord was not fair, then the devil showed up but the devil was rejected
because he cheats. Then death shows up and the man believes he will be a good godfather
because death takes every person and is not bias. When the boy grew up, death gives him the
gift to heal people; as long as he follows the rules then he will become successful and rich. Death
told the man that if he is at the bottom of a sick person s feet then they are his and if death is at
the sick persons head then they can be healed. When the king becomes sick, death is

The character, Jim McLain, from the film Big Jim McLain, stated in one of the last scenes of the
film, there are a lot of wonderful things written into our constitution, that were meant for honest,
decent citizens. I resent the fact that it can be used by the very people who want to destroy it in
reference to members of the Communist party (Fellows, Wayne Ludwig, 1952). Big Jim McLain, is
an anti communist propaganda film from 1952 that focuses on highlighting the ills of communism.

The article, John Wayneand Big Jim McLain (1952): The Duke s Cold War Legacy by Ron

party with true Americans . Ron Briley refers to one of the scenes from the film as the disturbing
element of the investigation because of the betrayal of an elderly Polish American couple, the
Lesters, who turn in their son Ed White to the HUAC investigators (Briley, 29). The Lesters,
turned against their son because of his involvement with the Communist party, which shows a
contradiction to the American ideal of loyalty to your family and instead places the greatest
loyalty to a cause or country, that has been a focal point criticized in cinema towards communist,

Melanoma (Skin Cancer) Essay
Many people think that is it possible to achieve a healthy tan, but this thought has been proven
wrong. Overexpose to UV A and UV B rays from the sun lead to premature aging of the skin, as
well as the possible formation of skin cancer, know as melanoma. An appearance of a tan is
actually a stage of burning and damage to the skin. Although a tan may be desirable to many, the
fact remains that more people need to be educated on the dangers of the sun s harmful rays, and the
possible health complicationsof overexposure.
There are three main types of skin cancer. These are malignant melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and
squamous cell carcinoma. While melanoma is the most life threatening of the three, it is also the

Those who may spend the vast majority of their week indoors but go to the beach on the
weekends or outside on vacations are much more likely to develop a skin cancer than those who
spend regular time outdoors. There are also risk factors that put some people at a higher risk for
developing skin cancers, as well. These include:
* Fair skinned people; blonde, red, or light brown hair, and blue, green or gray eyes,
* Those with family pasts of skin cancers,
* Those who experienced several blistering sunburns as children or teenagers,
* People with moles irregular in shape or color,
* People with a large number of moles on their body,
* Individuals with many freckles and/or who burn before tanning,
* People living in high altitudes, and
*People who live on/near the equator.
Distinguishing melanoma may seem hard to do, but is not so once a person is informed on
what they should be looking for. They may appear similar to moles, and may be blue or black in
color. Though they will usually lack the symmetry and border regularity of a common mole, and
may have variance in their coloring. Melanomas can either appear suddenly, or develop slowly
near a preexisting mole. In rare cases, melanomas may form on top of previously formed moles or
birthmarks, but will also come with the effects of pain, itching, or bleeding. These moles may begin
to exhibit new and/or strange characteristics such as

Guns Germs And Steel Imperialism
In the novel Guns, Germs, and Steel, by Jared Diamond, it is emphasized how the modern world
holds an utmost array of differences among societies. Those of Eurasian origin greatly influence the
world of power and wealth. However, other people such as Africans, fought off against European
colonial dictatorship, lack such influence and wealth. And other people, including the Aboriginal
Australians, no longer rule their own land. Rather, they have become decimated and subjugated by
European colonists. Food production, technology, and the decisions made by varying continents
played a role in the fates of societies. Geographic features, along with other factors, dictated the
development of guns, germs, and steel.
Food production was the leading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What Diamond failed to discuss is the political decisions made to engage in European imperialism,
to construct steel and guns, and to utilize disease as a weapon. European s acquirement of guns and
steel did not mean they were compelled to use such technology to colonize the other continents.
Without acknowledging this, Europeans appear as inadvertent conquerors. Guns, Germs, and Steel
does not explain the capability for people to make judgements and influence the aftermath. For
example, stated in the epilogue, the Fertile Crescent lost its head start because it was the inhabitants
decision to clear the woodlands periodically, not allowing the vegetation to grow back soon enough.
In China, it was the type of political organization the inhabitants agreed on that allowed one of their
dictators to decide whether they accept innovation for the entire empire. The arrangements that
Europe, the Fertile Crescent, and China established, along with the environments they resided in,
and many other factors, all contribute to the disparate fates of their

Investing in the Stock Market
Investing in the Stock Market Matt Gonzales Abstract The purpose of this paper is to inform the
average investor of how to make money in the stock market. The stock market should be thought of
as a long term savings vehicle. Investing in the stock market should not be associated with
gambling. By investing in high quality U.S. companies, the investor in a company profits along
with the company. As a shareholder, when the company makes money, the investor also does. There
are many ways to invest in the stock market, but it is my opinion that investing in mutual funds is
probably the most appropriate way for the average person, without expertise in stock analysis, to
make money. This paper plans to inform the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, if a person contributes $2,000 to their IRA, they will receive money back on their
tax return at the end of the year. If that person is in the 28% tax bracket, they will receive $560

contributed to the Roth IRA, therefore the investor does not receive income tax money back at
the end of the year, but the beauty of the Roth IRA is that when the money is withdrawn at the

retirement investing. It makes much more sense to use a Roth IRA for retirement than a
traditional one. With a 401k account, the money that is invested is referred to as pre tax money.
With pre tax money, this money is placed into the account before it is taxed. An example of this
would be if an individual earned $100 before it was taxed by the federal and state governments,
the entire $100 would be placed in the account to be invested. After tax money means that the
same $100 would first be taxed federally as normal income (usually 28%) and then taxed by the
state (usually 6%), to leave only $66 of the original $100 to now be spent or invested. In addition
to the tax advantage, the main benefit of the 401k is

The Story Of Rapunzel In Disney And The Grim Brothers
Disney is a name most households know. The Grim Brothers were a household name. They tell
them same stories sometimes. They both want to help children but they go about it in two very
different ways. Disney gives good and happy ending fantasies. The grim brothers give reality no
matter if it was happy or evil. They both help children but are they the same? Let s look at the
some of the differences to see. Disney s Tangled is a story about Rapunzel. Rapunzel and her
mom are saved by the healing flower. Because of this Gothel kidnaped Rapunzel to still have the
flower s power to make her young. When Rapunzel grows up in a tower in the middle of a forest.
She thinks that Gothel is her motherbut later realizes that to be false. She grows up to be
independent and to have courage. She runs away from the only home she knows to see the
floating lights up close. Finn goes to the tower to hide but Rapunzel knocks him out and hides the
stolen haul that he had. She then tells him that he will not get it back till he takes her to see the
floating lights. He agrees to the deal seeing how it was his only option. They go to see the floating
lights but when they get there they find out that Rapunzel is the missing princess. The meaning that
Disney wants one know is life needs adventure to spice it up. The character that goes thru the most
change is Rapunzel herself. She goes from a good daughter to a strong independent woman in a
short period. The character that has the second most change

Dunkin Brand Has Transformed Its It Security Department Of...
The Security department of any company can be seen as the department that says no because they
are the ones who usually put the axe down on ideas. As stated in the article about Dunkin Brands,
Security departments have long been thought of as a place where ideas go to die, This idea has
been planted well into the minds of workers in every division of almost any business. Security
departments go by the book, sometimes can lack innovation, and tend to do things in order to
maintain protection for the business vs building the business. Dunkin Brand has reinvented its IT

One of the ways that Sullivan knows that this new way of thinking is working is by the
reception he is receiving from other departments within Dunkin. We are now at the table for
every decision as it pertains to risk mitigation globally... he says. Security departments can also
add value to an organization by sharing knowledge within the company to better build a place
for its customers. With so many aspects of a person s daily life going digital, understanding how
cyber security is vital to every person is important. An example of this would be Apple s value of
personal security through its value of corporate security. In order to understand how to keep a
customer s information secure, it is imperative to understand how to keep an organization s
information secure. Apple bases its decisions off of the innovations of its workers. iCloud and
ApplePay would not be at the forefront of technology without the help of its security department.
Through the idea of building privacy into everything Apple makes, it is thinking of ways to
protect the privacy of their customers. When you pay for groceries, message a friend, track a
workout, or share a photo, you shouldn t have to worry about your information falling into the
wrong hands. The personal data on your devices should be protected and never shared without your
permission. That s why we build strong, innovative safeguards into the things we make , says the

The Origins Of The Inuit Culture
A culture is known to be a group of people, usually a group of First Nations people who share the
same knowledge, beliefs, values, languages, experiences, etc. amongst each other as a community.
Those cultural knowledge and activities continue to be passed down to younger generations as time
goes on. First Nationscultures are very important to many First Nations people because it is like the

before using again. I got so mad because I just wanted to take picture and if I would have known
I was overheating I would have set it down but I have an otterbox case. But then we left and got
our dinner which was ruby tuesday because it was one of the closest thing to our hotel.
After that we went to bed because we had to get up at 9:00 am to go see Meghan and Nazire. We
went to panera bread for breakfast and my mom let us get whatever we wanted so I had soup for
breakfast. Then we went to the hospital and Meghan was still in her bed just chillin. Then the
doctor walked in with a very serious look on his face. Meghan just said What s wrong with my baby
I m so sorry ma am but your baby has a very low blood sugar
Is there a way to fix it I asked
Yes I felt a rush of relief when I heard that.
If he eats his meals
Meghan was relieved and for some reason he wouldn t eat her breast milk so we started to give
him formula. I can t even remember what happened after but we stayed late again we went to
chipotle for dinner and It was good then we went back to the hotel and I was so excited to go into

Ergogenic Aids Essay
Ergogenic aids are substances or devices that enhance energy production, for use for recovery and
provide athletes with a competitive advantage. Numerous ergogenic aids claim to enhance sports
performance and are used by amateur and professional athletes. Approximately 50 percent of the
general population has reported taking some form of dietary supplements, while 76 to 100 percent
of athletes in some sports are reported to use them. Physicians can evaluate these products by
examining four factors (method of action, available research, adverse effects, and legality) that will
help them counsel patients. Common ergogenic aids include anabolic steroids, which increase

Pros And Cons Of Social Entrepreneurship
SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP AN OVERRATED PHENONMENA
Social entrepreneurship which has been applied in so many different ways by so many different
analysts that it s depth of vast complexity is still being unraveled and it seems it is still in infancy.
It is a multi interpretable concept and although the use of the term is widespread its use is either
overrated or misused. Hence, it is important to firstly understand what social entrepreneurship really
is.
To me, entrepreneurship is completely dedicating yourself to creating something out of nothing,
finding an opportunity and taking full advantage of it while embracing new challenges every day.
Social Entrepreneurship is an integrated part of Entrepreneurship that aims to use business to ...

It allows for social change advocacy without the potential external consequences of conventional
activism. But increasingly, we are led to believe that entrepreneurs and social enterprises are the
avant garde of change making . Like every concept has both pros and cons, similarly even social
entrepreneurship has its own demerits. On one hand it is one major factor in bringing change
while on the other end it is being overused by companies who start off with the motive of being
socially responsible and use this for the advantage in future ,by diverting their focus on profits.
The point is, all of a sudden, social entrepreneurship was everywhere and everyone wanted to be
one. The key to sustainable capitalism is reasonable profits as opposed to maximizing profits. In
the current system, a segment of society is trying to maximize profits without concern for the
impact on the well being of the society as a whole, while another segment of social organizations
have to deal with the fall out. The system is not working. If it does good in some areas it also
does bad in others. The example of Toms one for one shoe program though does charity and is a
social enterprise but at its worst, it promotes a view of the world s poor as helpless, ineffective
people passively waiting for trinkets from shoe buying Americans. While the shoes themselves
probably won t lead to any kind of disaster, that worldview can lead to bad policies and real,
serious harm also has a small negative impact on local markets. And so I have come to feel
increasingly uncomfortable with the term social entrepreneurship and its main actor, the social
entrepreneur . It creates a false separation between this is where we make money, and this is
where we do good . And that is exactly what is wrong with capitalism today. Myths of social
entrepreneurship are different from what and how it really works in the

The Omo Site Of Ethiopia, Africa
In this research paper we will be discussing the Omo site in Ethiopia, Africa. Some key points
that will be discussed will be its original discovery in 1967, it s addition research that was
completed in 2005, Omo I and II s updated age (McDougall et al., 2005), and the scientific
importance of the discoveries from this site and what it means for idea of the first appearance of the
modern human(Fleagle et al., 2008).
In 1967 in the Lower Omo Valley near Kibish, Ethiopia along the Omo river, a team from the
Kenya National Museums, led by Richard Leakey an anthropologist and conservationist, did an
initial exploration which led to the discovery of several stone tools, hominin fossils, and various
other skull fossils of mammals. In this expedition the team found parts of what would be known
as Omo I and Omo II. The finds for Omo I comprised of the mandible, dentition, several parts of
the cranium, and a considerable portion of the post cranial skeleton. Omo I s finds has been
described as being a modern skeleton of Homo sapiens. Omo II comprised of an almost intact
neurocranium, which has been described as primitive remains most closely resembling Homo
erectus (Fleagle et al. 2008). At that time in 1967, researches faced a difficult time establishing an
accurate age of these remains due in part to the confines of technology. The team at this time
decided to use a rather controversial method that looked at radiometric dates on shells from a Nile
oyster (Etheria elliptica) bank

How Did Columbus Change America
Christopher Columbus, an experienced seafarer, left landmark achievements in various destinations
he set foot in. He made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain and he mistakenly thought
there was a quicker route to Asia. It turned out he landed on two unknown continents (Jane, pg.6).
In the event of making journeys, he accidentally came across to natives where he taught the spirit of
exploration injecting a great deal in America s global economy. The journey started at the beginning
of different acts like colonization.
Landing of Columbus in America shaped up the living standards of the natives from the former
states to improved measures powered by the spirit of exploration. Columbus changed the world by
introducing the land hungry Europeans to America who reshaped Mexico, Canada, and many other
Caribbean nations through exploration and use of natural resources (Mckay, pg.471). It improved

Fuller s Business Ethics
Ethics and Responsibilities go hand in hand. With businesses that develop products for the public,
the decision making process is crucial. Before one can make a judgement for what is right and
wrong, one must understand to a degree the consequences of those actions.
Businesses have responsibilities for the product they manufacture and distribute, but how much
responsibility is too much. In this perspective, we will examine the ethical implications of product
manufacturing of Product Quality, Pricing, and Labeling and Packaging.
With Product Quality, the responsibilities of a business are simple. Develop a low cost, high quality
product that withstands the normal limitations of it s use. Quality can be defined as doing the ...

This would violate the standard of product quality, which is to create a high quality, low costing
product as mentioned earlier.
To further illustrate, Fuller s Company provides industrial glues, coatings, and paints. If a
consumer buys an industrial glue, and it does not work as effectively due to the addition to the
noxious oil, this is an example of doing the wrong thing. On the other hand, if the glue works as
promised, but the consumer gets sick while using the product the correct way, this is an example of
the right thing, done the wrong way. Lastly, if the glue holds for some, and does not for others, then
the company has failed to do the right thing, the first time, and every time. This would make this
product one of poor quality, and that is unethical.
Companies can avoid unintentionally creating poor quality products, and create a peace of mind
with their consumers with the use of warranties. Warranties are obligations to purchasers that
sellers assume. (Shaw, 226) The two types of warranties include express, and implied warranties.
Express Warranties are specific promises made by a seller, whether orally, or in print. These
promises usually include a description of items, the assurance that the product will work as
designed, and factual statements. Concerning case 4.3, an example of an express warranty

After, come secondary sources, these you need look through more to make sure they are valid

castigated for the substantial amount of bias it allegedly encompasses. Popular television media
outlets such as CNN or Fox News have been accused of containing said bias by both sides of the

vote if the candidates were: Democrat Hillary Clinton, Republican Donald Trump, (Other),
(Wouldn t vote), or (Don t know)? (Fox News Poll, 2016). 44% of the survey s participants
answered they would vote for Hillary Clinton while 38% answered they would vote for Donald
Trump, but the actual survey is not where the bias lies. Shortly after the survey concluded and
the results were in, Fox News started covering what the survey revealed and the headline showed
FOX POLL: TRUMP LEADS WITH INDEPENDENTS (Stevens, 2016). Fox News had
displayed the wrong results from the poll with no substantial reasoning supporting it. Many
critics that have examined this event conclude that Fox News was perhaps trying to sway their
viewers to believe that the Republican candidate was in the lead so that the momentum would
carry towards November. However, not all Republicans support Trump, so this assumption may
not be a valid reason. Also, the fact that many of the individuals who watch Fox News are
conservatives may hold some meaning behind this fiasco. Perhaps Fox News was attempting to
sway conservatives who were on the fence about voting for the Republican nominee to rally behind
a common candidate against the common enemy. Either way, Fox News has decided to drop their
socialization role, which is presenting the same information and portraying cultural values to
national audiences (Lenz and Holman, pg. 142), by giving their loyal viewers false information
regarding their own poll. Surprisingly, Fox News has done another poll since that incident. Their

Introduction Computer Information Systems (CIS) have forever altered the way in which
organizations conduct business. No longer is commerce managed through clunky and expensive
paper based transactions. The advantage of this archaic process, though, was that it allowed
corporations to store their documents in secure locations under tight lock key. Today however,
these cabinets have been replaced with database systems. Database systems are the modern
version of filing cabinets, which house the vast data transacted by corporations. Although
databases have eliminated the need for paper based transactions, they have exposed themselves
to a different problem altogether. As SANS (2015) puts it, most of an organization s information
[today] is maintained in a small, central location, compared to the large file rooms associated
with the pre information technology era, therefore those desiring to cause harm to a large amount
of information in a short time span now have a convenient means to do so. Because of this
paradigm shift, IT professionals should enforce modern database security auditing policies in
order to protect data. But are organizations under attack? Well a shocking statistic by Gartner
shows that, 75% attacks come from web applications and 2/3rd of web applications are vulnerable.
And as per OWASP, 2013, SQLInjection based attacks are in the top 10 since the past few years.
These numbers are startling, and demonstrate

Tsa Should Use Full Body Scanners
After the devastating terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11th, TSA (Transportation
Security Administration) was created and have since then beefed up their security. Because of all
the new security devices and rules taking place now, the wait time at in the security line is longer,
but for a good reason. On an average day, TSA screens 1.1 million bags. Of those 1.1 million bags,
around 50,000 of them have to be checked thoroughly due to suspicious items inside the bags. The
wait time at airport securitylines has increased because of new threats. Because of an increase in the
wait time at the securityline, some people find it very frustrating and think that all the precautions
are unnecessary. Those people are wrong though. In the past years since TSA was created,
multiple bomber attacks have been attempted but have yet to succeed due to TSA keeping up
with its safety requirements. In 2010, TSA started to use full body scanners. Some people are
uncomfortable with the idea that when going through the body scanners, they are almost viewed

of my previous convictions, and an apology for actually allowing a society of chauvinists to train
my mind into agreeing that the womenfolk are indeed inferior, merely created from our ribs to be
chained into marital slavery. Feminism, as evinced in Kakanda s letter, is a particularly urgent issue
in the genre of world literature. In countries with a history of colonialism, those who are able to

the colonialism and the oppression of women: language, participation, and land. Because of the

To legitimize their claims to ownership of other countries, the colonists used anthropological
theories which increasingly portrayed the peoples of the colonized world as inferior, childlike, or
feminine, incapable of looking after themselves ... and requiring the paternal rule of the west. In
fact, the practice of describing race in gendered terms emphasized the masculinity of colonizers,
while effeminizing the native peoples. This tactic was used in colonial India when the British
officials attempted to pass the Ilbert Bill. This legislation emphasized the stereotypes of the manly
Englishman and the effeminate Bengali babun in order to argue that Indian subjects were not able
to competently decide the fate of Englishmen in criminal cases. In this case, white, British women
defended the Bengalis right and ability to decide legal outcomes. These women, like the Bengali
men, were disqualified from playing an active part in politics. Recognizing their commonality in
situation, the women stood up for the Bengali men and protested the Ilbert Bill.
However, colonist women were not always allies to the native peoples. Postcolonial feminist

The Theme Of Loneliness
In A Clean, Well Lighted Place, by Hemingway and Miss Brill by Katherine Mansfield what they
both have in common is the literary device theme loneliness. Theme is the general idea or insight
revealed in a narrative. These two stories are also different from the style of writing these two
authors wrote how to tell their stories.
Loneliness is introduced in the beginning of the short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place by
Hemingway. The deaf old man, with no wife and only a niece to care for him, is noticeably
lonely. The younger waiter, upset that the old man won t go home, shows himself and the old man
in opposites: He s lonely. I m not lonely. I have a wife waiting in bed for me (Ernest Hemingway

The old people sat on the bench, sill as statues. Never mind, there was always the crows to
watch. (Mansfield pg. 563) She sees all of the people, in their separate interactions, as being part
of a stage production. She thinks of the people in the stands, including herself, not as audience
members but as performers too. She thinks of herself as being a part of the production that if she
were missing someone she would notice. She tells the old man who cares little for her presence
that I have been an actress for a long time. (Mansfield pg. 564)
These two stories contrast the way they were written in A Clean, Well Lighted Place the author
Hemingway writes the story mostly in dialogue. The story is mostly the young waiter and older
waiter talking to each other about the old man. Last week he tried to commit suicide (Ernest
Hemingway pg. 372) We only learn about the old man through conversation between the waiters.
The way Katherine Mansfield wrote Miss Brill she wrote a lot of details where you can imagine
Miss Brill enjoying her fur. She had taken it out of it s box that afternoon, shaken out the moth
powder, given it a good brush and rubbed the life back into the dim little eye. (Katherine
Mansfield pg. 562) It bought her back to life. But today she passed the baker s boy, climbed the

up in the tree shows that Katniss is a stronger opponent. Katniss climbs up the tree and Cato tries
to follow her up but he slips and falls out the tree, thus why they camp out for her. The camera
angles also showed us this. The camera from Cato s point of view was him looking up at her
which shows that Katniss is what he wants and she is above him, she s intelligent, and Cato
knows this and wants her dead. Katniss s point of view shows her looking down on Cato and his
followers which shows that she has the power, even though in these circumstances the power is
flipped. When it shows Rue she is above Katniss and Katniss looks up to her, thanking her for the
idea that saved her life. Then Katniss and Rue became a team and worked together forming their

The Causative Agent Of Human Monocytotrophic Ehrlichiosis
Members of the genus Ehrlichia, the causative agent of human monocytotrophic ehrlichiosis
(HME), are important emerging tick borne pathogens globally. Ehrlichia spp. is naturally
transmitted by Ixodidae family ticks and maintained between the ticks and the wild or domestic
animal reservoir hosts.
E. canis can cause illness in dogs and other canids, and these animals are thought to be the
reservoir hosts. Evidence of infection with this or a similar organism has also been reported in
cats and captive wild felids. Human infections with E.canis have been reported but the incidence
is quite few. In Venezuela, chronic, asymptomatic infections with E. canis in human patients have
been reported as well as six clinical cases with ehrlichiosis. All patients with clinical cases had a
fever, and most had a headache and/or myalgia. Also, malaise, arthralgia, nausea, vomiting, rash,
bone pain, diarrhea or abdominal pain occurred in some patients. Leukopenia was seen in one
patient and anemia in another. All of the six patients were young and otherwise healthy, and the E.
canis strains were identical to those seen in dogs. E. canis nucleic acids have also been detected in
a small number of stored human serum samples in the U.S. Although E. canis occur worldwide, its
presence and density in an area varies with the distribution of its tick vectors. The presence of novel
Ehrlichia genotype suspected to be E.canis detected in dogs in South Africa has been reported by

Weaknesses Of Fas 80
In 1984, Financial Accounting Standards no. 80, Accounting for Futures Contracts, also known as
FAS 80 had become effective. This document included all hedge accounting practices for entities in
the United States. But FAS 80 had several faults. One of its faults was that it was bounded to
exchange traded futures and options and not to over the counter (OTC) derivatives. In 1999, FAS
80 was replaced by Financial Accounting Standards no.133, Accounting for derivativeinstruments
and hedging activities. Despite, the numerous amendments, clarifications and interpretations this
document had over the years, it still remains at the core of current derivatives accounting practices.

The key distinguishing features of derivatives are: 1.Settlement in cash or equivalents a derivative
will be settled at a future date with an exchange of cash or assets that are easily convertible to cash
(such as marketable securities)
2.Underlying price and Notional amount the total value of the derivatives will be calculated by
multiplying the index by a specific number of units specified in the contract, which is known as the
notional amount (units, bushels, pounds). The value of the derivative will be based on some
variable, such as a price index, which is known as the underlying (specified price, interest rate,
exchange rate).
3.No net investment at the time the derivative contract is entered into, there will be no payment by
either side in most cases. Payment occurs at the time of settlement only. In the case of options
based derivatives, the party that is acquiring the option normally pays a premium, but this is still
considered to be no net investment as long as the payment is less than the cost of acquiring the
underlying.
There are several types of derivative contracts. Three of the most common types are forwards,

How Does Huxley Use Social Order In Brave New World
Various social orders have risen and fallen in the inquiry of the ideal society. Orwell s novel, 1984,
centres around the utilization of the media to control the majority while Huxley s novel, Brave
New World, delineates the utilization of conditioning. The two social orders have their own ideal
society and utilize any methods important to accomplish them.
Initially, Huxley has different strategies to achieve a total totalitarian state administration. The
utilization of conditioning is an immense factor on why Huxley s state is effective. Soma, a
medication which generally circulates and supports the society enables a getaway from torment,
distress, shame, misery or outrage; it enables delight, excitement, and a general feeling of
prosperity. If you somehow happened to decay the use of the medication you will be put around
and be downgraded by society. The medication soma is like Prozac or fluoxetine in our reality, it s
lawfully disseminated by the administration. The administration of Brave New Worlduses soma to
condition the general population of world state by smothering consistent human feelings to keep
control and social order.
In contrast to Brave New World, 1984 focuses on media to control its people. Orwell s totalitarian

Functions Of Mitosis And Meiosis
Topic Cells
(A.C. 3.1)
Mitosis and meiosis are both forms of the nucleus in eukaryotic cells and share some similarities,
but also exhibit distinct differences that lead to very different outcomes (UK essays 2013;
widmaier et al, 2014; Toole, 2015; Khan, 2016). Mitosis is a cell division that produces two
daughter cells receiving a copy of every chromosome with the same genetic component as the
parent cell, while meiosis is a cell division that produces haploid sex cells or gametes which
contain a single copy of each chromosome (widmaier et al, 2014; Diffen, 2016; Toole 2016;
Encyclopaedia Britannica). The purpose of mitosis is cell regeneration, growth, and asexual
reproduction, while the purpose of meiosis is the production of gametes for sexual reproduction
(UK essays 2013; Vancouver community college, 2011). Mitosis Meiosis parent cell parent cell

1) Since the [OHвЃ»] would double, half the required number of drops would be needed. 2) Adding
OHвЃ» would react with the FeВівЃє in the system to form a precipitate Fe(OH)в‚ѓ. This would
decrease the [FeВівЃє] in the system. Equilibrium will shift left to counteract the change and the
solution becomes lighter yellow in colour. 3) Cooling the contents decreases the amount of heat in
the system. Equilibrium will shift to the left causing the solution to become light red. 4) Heating
favours endothermic reactions. As the reactant Co(H₂O)₆²⁺ was heated, the solution
changed from light red to dark purple. This suggests that the equilibrium shifted right. Therefore,
the forward reaction is endothermic. 5) Adding NaCl would increase [ClвЃ»]. This will cause
equilibrium to shift right and the solution would become dark purple. 6) 2 CrOв‚„ВІвЃ» + 2 HвЃє

If you add NaOH, the OHвЃ» will react with the HвЃє ions to form water. This causes a decrease in
the [HвЃє] in the system. Equilibrium will shift causing the colour change from orange to yellow.

Safety Gears In American Football
Have you ever thrown a pigskin before? Well I have. It is important to stay safe playing the best
sport, football. Clearly American football is safe because the players wear safety gear, learn to
tackle properly, and stretch before and after a playing period. The first reason is safety gear
makes football more safe because of the following. The helmet goes on a player s head they are
made up of polycarbonate shells. That is safe because the helmets have big pads inside the shell
to support the head on contact. The the next reason that safety gear is safe is the shoulder pads.
The shoulder pads help because they make the player lower their shoulder so they don t get hurt
/injured. The pads go on the shoulders and chest of a player. The shoulder pads protect the
player from fractured bones in the upper body area. A neck roll will go on a player s shoulder
pads and around their neck. It helps the neck and head because when the player gets hit in the
head the neck roll will stop their helmet from bending backwards. Another reason that makes
football safe is PROPER tackling. First the player will have to slow down and chop their feet to
mimic the ball carrier. This will help them tackle the runner. The defensive... Show more content on

Essay about Eumenides
The Importance of Gender in Aeschylus Oresteia
Gender is made explicit as a theme throughout the Oresteia through a series of male female
conflicts and incorrectly gendered characters dominated by the figure of Clytemnestra, a woman
out of place. This opposition of gender then engenders all the other oppositions of the trilogy;
conflicts of oikos and polis, chthonic and Olympian, old and young can be assigned to female and
male spheres respectively. In this essay I will look at how the polis examines itself in terms of
gender by focusing on the Eumenides exploration of the myth of matriarchy, issues of the conflict
between oikos and polis and the use of speech within the polis. I will then look at how these themes

Not only has the sex of the owners changed but also so has that of the source of the inspiration
but it is Zeus that Apollo speaks for (Eum. 19). This transition to a world ordered by men is
complemented by images of Apollo s journey to Delphi; the manly god of fire Hephaestos civilizes
this female savage country (Eum. 14) which has been bequeathed by the female deities and a
male head of state, Delphos (Eum. 16), who is there to welcome Apollo and his new male order.
The play opens with a hopeful precedent for a return to a proper patriarchal society.
The Eumenides brings to mind other myths, Zeitlin notices that the trial scene has strong
connections with another Athenian myth of a trial that also is very concerned with gender. Athena
had to compete with Poseidon for the city of Athens and this was decided by a vote. This was
during a time when women had the right to vote, and lead promiscuous lives and no one knew who
his father was. The women side with Athena and they out number the men by one and so Athena
wins. The women however must be punished for the use of their power and so patriarchal society
is installed.1 Whether Athenians felt at all uncomfortable with this founding myth of their female
patron deity is debateable but Athena s famous speech (Eum. 750 756) has been interpreted as a
returning of the favour. Athena may be siding with the male here but we are reminded of her ties

Essay on Australia s Trade
Australia has several ties with other countries. These ties are established in several ways, one of
which is through trade. The nature of trade includes exporting and importing goods and services
which form trade links with partner countries. Trade comes with its advantages and disadvantages.
Australia also takes part in multilateral agreements, such as APEC, to be able to strengthen trade
links.
International trade is the exchange of goods and services between nations. Goods meaning
tangible objects like clothes, food and such, while services are non tangible items like tourism and
education. Australia imports and exports a variety of goods and services. Australia s leading
exports in 2009 were Coal, Iron or and education, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Australia s Position in the global exporting market is only 22nd, which is far from its leading top
trade partners that fit in the Top 5. Also, Australia s global ranking in the global importing market is
18th, which is under India whose economic status is much lower than Australia. A second
disadvantage that Trading brings to Australia is the competition between local small businesses and
Trans National Corporations (TNC). Local businesses are closing down and being taken over
because of the increase in the entrance of TNCs in Australia. Large Fast food chain Corporations
like McDonalds, put local fish and chips shops under pressure. Another disadvantage with Australia
being part of International trading is that most of the products that Australia export are agricultural
goods that has high tariffs, making it costly for Australia to be able to export.
Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is the pre eminent economic rally in Australia s region.
APEC s goal is to drive an extensive trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation agenda. It is
focused on structural reform as a means of raising competitiveness and the efficiency of trade and
investment flows. It has helped Australia with building and strengthening ties with other countries
such as Brunei, Singapore, Philippines and other countries in the region. In 2009, 70% of Australia
s trade is with APEC countries.

Snapchat Streak
Snapchat was created in September of 2011, and has now grown into the favorite social network
of many. As with many new social media networks it took snapchat a couple years to become the
next hottest thing . The Snapchat Company is said to be worth somewhere in the $3 Billion
range and still climbing. In one update of the app around a year and a half ago the streak broke
through on the Snapchat stage (which replaced the best friends list). The basic idea behind the
streak is for you, your friends, family, and girl/boyfriend to send each other at least one snap (not
chat), which will in turn let you build up a numerical streak of days you have snapped each other.

Though the streak is basically a game too see who can get the highest amount of days, people
take it very personally when someone fails to keep the streak due to it seeming as though the
person does not care enough about them. For instance, one of my close friends in high school
was broken up with by his girlfriend as a little fight of him losing their 100+ day streak exploded
into an all out armageddon between the two. It also may be noteworthy that many including me
would consider her to be psychotic, but then again none of us are licensed professionals able to
correctly diagnose. Another happening similar to this was late into my junior year of high
school. I had been dating a girl for close to 6 months and one day she decided to look on my
phone and found out that I had a three day streak with another girl that attended our school.
Though she knew this girl was one of my best friends that I treat like one of the guys, she still felt
the need to start an argument due to her insecurities. This instance spouted a fight that rivaled even
that of my friends, and eventually due to her vicious jealousy we eventually discarded our
relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend, but have gone back to being

Corruption Of The Saudi Arabia
Corruption in Saudi Arabia According to The Economic Times reports corruption in a civilized
society is a disease like cancer, which if not detected on time, is surely to spread its malignancy
among the polity of the country, leading to disastrous consequences (Economic Times). Corruption
or what it should be called how to destroy a community is the easier and faster way to kill a nation.
Unfortunately, corruption is widespread in Saudi Arabia, and an abundance of corrupt people take
advantage of their positions to achieve personal goals. Perhaps the most important of their reasons
are earning money and having more power because of weak government regulators. This however,
has a negative result on various aspects of social life, economic, and political in Saudi Arabia.
There are several reasons behind the emergence of the phenomenon of corruption and outbreaks in
communities. There is nearly unanimity on the fact that this phenomenon is negative behavior.
some of the reasons for people to turn towards to corruption is to make more money, engaging in
corruption, and dreaming of more strength. However, the main reason that allows people to engage
in corruption and enjoy it is the weakness of government regulation. Corruption leads to the
demoralizing aspects of frustration and apathy. Also it will raise the negative spread between the
members of the community. Corruption also results in a lack of professionalism the loss of the
value of work and a declining

How Did The Peloponnesian War
EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! The Athens Morning News
Today in 431 B.C., the Peloponnesian War broke out. According to what Pericles has told other
sources, Athens wealth and power were climbing throughout the thirty year peace period, Sparta
became very jealous and skeptical of Athens. After disagreements over the city of Corinth, Sparta
had declared war on Athens. Since Athens controlled most of the sea, they decided to build walls
that would go from the city to their seaport, Piraeus. This made it easier so they could stay in the
city, and they still get the supplies they needed. Since Athens decided to stay put because they were
secure behind the walls, this allowed Sparta to surround Athens.

Representation Of Characterism In Picnic At Hanging Rock...
Joan Lindsay, the renowned author of the distinguished Australian novel Picnic at Hanging Rock,
has foreground the representation of Victorian society as repressed and constrained through the
characterisation of various figures throughout the novel. The riveting tale follows the mysterious
disappearance of three girls and a teacher, with only one girl to ever be seen again, during the
Appleyard College s trip to the mystic Hanging Rock on Valentine s Day in 1900. One of the
main focuses in the book is the depiction of the Victorian Society as uptight and controlled, which
has been developed by various characters, including Miss McCraw, Mrs Appleyard and
Mademoiselle. Miss McCraw, the peculiar mathematics teacher, is one of the least likely to go
missing. However this is exactly what occurs and through this uncharacteristic disappearance a
notion is presented that excessive repression results in extreme methods of release. The
characterisation of Mrs Appleyard, combined with that of Miss McCraw, also develops the readers
understanding of Victorian society and how rigid social constraints will eventually breakdown. In
contrast, Mademoiselle, the passionate arts teacher, juxtaposes the previously mentioned characters
by being kind and affectionate towards the girls. The characterisation of these individuals
throughout Picnic at Hanging Rock contributes to the overall portrayal of Victorian society as
uptight and suppressed and progresses the reader s understanding of this

Date Submitted: December 8, 2014 Introduction Aspirin is a substance known as acetylsalicylic
acid. It is used mainly as an over the counter drug used to relieve inflammation, pain, and fever. Its
natural form is salicylic acid. This synthesis process requires the acetylation of salicylic acid with
acetic anhydride. The purpose of this lab is to synthesize and purify aspirin. We also characterized
the aspirin via melting point, iron (III) chloride test, pH test, and thin layer chromatography. The
synthesized aspirin successfully produced a 65.38% yield.

  • 2. United States Presidential Election Analysis The United States presidential election is one of the most important things that happens to us as U.S citizens. We wait four years to see if our previous president has done the job we wanted him to do, and if not, we get to elect a knew leader of our country. The President has a lot of influence on our country, therefore we want to elect the best one for our nation. Thus, our founding fathers created the electoral college. Designing the mode of selecting the President had to be one of the most difficult tasks that confronted the framers. The difficulty in the legislative case lay in the fact that almost all delegates knew exactly what they wanted, but different delegates wanted different things: small state delegates wanted to preserve the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of the candidates were highly favored. Govenor of Texas George W. Bush and vice president Al Gore watched as the results were coming in. Out of the 105,545,316 voters, it came down to just over 500,000 votes in favor of Gore (International, 2014)(don t know if should use). That statistically is a difference of less than 1% of the people that voted. Gore had the popular vote, so he wins the election. Many Americans thought that was the case, and unaware that the popular vote doesn t automatically assume the presidency. Once the votes are counted, the electoral college is the final supreme step to determine the president. The president of the United States of America is not truly elected by the people, but by a group of 538 representatives known as the Electoral college. Every state has members of the college, including anywhere from 3 to 55. The number of members is decided by the states population, so yes, technically if you live in a small populated state you have less influence on who the president will be. The members are typically local politicians of your state, and normally are inclined to vote with the states popular vote. This type of electoral system creates a checks and balance, similar to that of the federal branches of government in the United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Construction of Wivenhoe Dam Essay Based on the events that lead to the devastating floods in Queensland and the eventual case that was brought against the engineers of the dam, there have been views from both sides of the divide as to whether or not the actions taken by the engineers were actually ethical or otherwise. We have explored this avenue and have found that both sides of the divide have good reasons to justify their actions. Firstly, we shall explore the avenue that the engineers decisions were appropriate and ethical. It can be said that the engineers did employ act utilitarianism in their decisions and actions, hence causing these decisions to be ethically correct. Act utilitarianism is essentially doing the right thing, which would benefit the majority of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The engineers at the dam had no choice, and had to take the most appropriate action, which would benefit the people living in the surrounding areas the most, based on the situation, as a result, they had to release the water and not allow it to go beyond the 200 per cent capacity limit. If they allowed the water capacity in the dam to go beyond the 200 percent capacity limit, that would mean that the secondary spillway will be activated and they would not be able to control the water flow, which would then lead to the flood levels rapidly rising. Should this occur, there is a high chance that the loss of lives would be significantly higher, and the amount of damage would be much worse than what had actually occurred in 2011. More so, in the event that no action was taken at all, and the water levels began to rise at a much higher rate, until water started to spill over the dam wall, there would have been a possibility that the dam wall would have started to erode. With the additional pressure buildup from the water it is holding back, it would have been possible that the dam wall could have then collapsed completely, which would possibly have wiped out the whole city. Judging by this, the actions taken by the engineers then are ethical and correct, as if it was not for their action to release the water, the damage that could have occurred would have been significantly worse, and would have caused more grievous harm to the majority of the population of ... • 5. Essay about Explanations of Personality Development Explanations of Personality Development According to Sigmund Freud, what we do and why we do it, who we are and how we became this way are all related to our sexual drive. Differences in personalities originate in differences in childhood sexual experiences. In the Freudian psychoanalytical model, child personality development is discussed in terms of psychosexual stages . In his Three Essays on Sexuality (1915), Freud outlined five stages of manifestations of the sexual drive: Oral, Anal, Phallic, Latency, and Genital. At each stage, different areas of the child s body become the focus of his pleasure and the principal source of sexual arousal. Differences in satisfying the sexual urges at each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The superego is the Freudian structure of personality that is the moral branch of personality. The superego takes into account whether something is right or wrong. The superego as what we often refer to as our conscience. During the oral stage (birth to 18 months), the child if focused on oral pleasures (e.g. sucking). Too much or too little gratification can result in an Oral Fixation or Oral Personality, which is evidenced by an obsession with oral activities. This type of personality may have a stronger tendency to smoke, drink alcohol, over eat, or bite his or her nails. Personality wise, these individuals may become overly dependent upon others, gullible, and group followers. On the other hand, they may also fight these urges and develop negative personalities and aggression toward others. In the Anal Stage (18 months to three years), the child s focus of pleasure is on eliminating and retaining faeces. Through society s pressure, mainly via parents, the child has to learn to control anal stimulation. In terms of personality, after effects of an anal fixation during this stage can result in an obsession with cleanliness, perfection, and control (anal retentive). On the opposite end of the spectrum, they may become messy and disorganized (anal expulsive). The pleasure zone in Phallic Stage (ages three to six) switches to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Light Hearted Look Back At Slot Game Scams Of The Past Blog 31 A light hearted look back at slot game scams of the past When you visit an online casino portal forum, scams and cons are often a hot topic of discussion. The approach that many online casino games take is ruthless and often more damaging than most can even fathom. However, it wasn t always the case of criminals taking on players, it was once a case that criminals would target the casinos themselves. In many Robin Hood like acts some smart thinking criminals would try and rob casino slot games through various old fashioned methods. They started to shave coins to mess with the system in place, as when a shaved coin was entered it would register with the system before dropping into the refund tray. Much like the yo yo scam it would allow players to play for free over and over again. The Fake Coin As time progressed and slot machines became more and more sophisticated, so did the scams associated with them. Arguably the most famous scam of all is the fake coin, devised by Louis The Coin Colavecchio, a player would create a fully fake coin that a slot machine would recognise as legitimate. This scam achieved such infamy that several documentary films have been made about its uses and origins. The Piano Wire It was a popular tool amongst mobsters in the 1960s, but it seems that slot game players also found plenty of use for it as well. During the 1980s a group of men would use piano wire on a slot machine. By sliding the 20 inch wire into the machines wiring they were able to rig the machine and trigger its jackpot, banking $50,000. However, their victory was short lived, as they would be caught by the police shortly after. The Light Wand At first glance a light wand looks like a fairly innocuous device, but to those who like to rig slot games it is anything but. In the hands of the wrong people it is a powerful tool that allows for slot machine mechanism manipulation. When

John Locke in An Essay Concerning Human Understanding argues that there can be made a distinction between ideas in the mind and qualities in bodies. Ideas are whatsoever the mind perceives in itself, or is the immediate object of perception, thought, or understanding (Locke II.8 В§8). The power to produce any idea in our mindis what Locke calls the quality of a subject in which that power is. A snowball has the power to produce in us the ideas of round, white, and cold as they are in a snowball, which is its quality. The sensations and perceptions in our understanding is what Locke calls ideas. The qualities are divided into two categories: the primary and the secondary qualities. In the beginning of the story a man was looking for a godfather for his son, the Lord was first to show up but the man said no because the Lord was not fair, then the devil showed up but the devil was rejected because he cheats. Then death shows up and the man believes he will be a good godfather because death takes every person and is not bias. I resent the fact that it can be used by the very people who want to destroy it in reference to members of the Communist party (Fellows, Wayne Ludwig, 1952). Big Jim McLain, is an anti communist propaganda film from 1952 that focuses on highlighting the ills of communism. Overexpose to UV A and UV B rays from the sun lead to premature aging of the skin, as well as the possible formation of skin cancer, know as melanoma. An appearance of a tan is actually a stage of burning and damage to the skin. Although a tan may be desirable to many, the fact remains that more people need to be educated on the dangers of the sun s harmful rays, and the possible health complicationsof overexposure. These include: * Fair skinned people; blonde, red, or light brown hair, and blue, green or gray eyes, * Those with family pasts of skin cancers, * Those who experienced several blistering sunburns as children or teenagers, * People with moles irregular in shape or color, * People with a large number of moles on their body, * Individuals with many freckles and/or who burn before tanning, * People living in high altitudes, and *People who live on/near the equator. Those of Eurasian origin greatly influence the world of power and wealth. However, other people such as Africans, fought off against European colonial dictatorship, lack such influence and wealth. And other people, including the Aboriginal Australians, no longer rule their own land. Rather, they have become decimated and subjugated by European colonists. For example, stated in the epilogue, the Fertile Crescent lost its head start because it was the inhabitants decision to clear the woodlands periodically, not allowing the vegetation to grow back soon enough. In China, it was the type of political organization the inhabitants agreed on that allowed one of their dictators to decide whether they accept innovation for the entire empire. The stock market should be thought of as a long term savings vehicle. Investing in the stock market should not be associated with gambling. By investing in high quality U.S. companies, the investor in a company profits along with the company. As a shareholder, when the company makes money, the investor also does. There are many ways to invest in the stock market, but it is my opinion that investing in mutual funds is probably the most appropriate way for the average person, without expertise in stock analysis, to make money. For example, if a person contributes $2,000 to their IRA, they will receive money back on their tax return at the end of the year. If that person is in the 28% tax bracket, they will receive $560 back ($2,000 X 28%). The second type of IRA is known as Roth IRA. After tax money is contributed to the Roth IRA, therefore the investor does not receive income tax money back at the end of the year, but the beauty of the Roth IRA is that when the money is withdrawn at the time of retirement (age 70), the profit is completely tax free, both state and federal (rothirarules.net, 2011). So, it is easy to see that the Roth IRA is an excellent vehicle for retirement investing. It makes much more sense to use a Roth IRA for retirement than a traditional one. With a 401k account, the money that is invested is referred to as pre tax money. With pre tax money, this money is placed into the account before it is taxed. An example of this would be if an individual earned $100 before it was taxed by the federal and state governments, the entire $100 would be placed in the account to be invested. After tax money means that the same $100 would first be taxed federally as normal income (usually 28%) and then taxed by the state (usually 6%), to leave only $66 of the original $100 to now be spent or invested. Because of this Gothel kidnaped Rapunzel to still have the flower s power to make her young. When Rapunzel grows up in a tower in the middle of a forest. She thinks that Gothel is her motherbut later realizes that to be false. She grows up to be independent and to have courage. She runs away from the only home she knows to see the floating lights up close. Finn goes to the tower to hide but Rapunzel knocks him out and hides the stolen haul that he had. She then tells him that he will not get it back till he takes her to see the floating lights. He agrees to the deal seeing how it was his only option. They go to see the floating lights but when they get there they find out that Rapunzel is the missing princess. The meaning that Disney wants one know is life needs adventure to spice it up. The character that goes thru the most change is Rapunzel herself. She goes from a good daughter to a strong independent woman in a short period. The character that has the second most change ... Pros And Cons Of Social Entrepreneurship SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP AN OVERRATED PHENONMENA Social entrepreneurship which has been applied in so many different ways by so many different analysts that it s depth of vast complexity is still being unraveled and it seems it is still in infancy. It is a multi interpretable concept and although the use of the term is widespread its use is either overrated or misused. Hence, it is important to firstly understand what social entrepreneurship really is. It allows for social change advocacy without the potential external consequences of conventional activism. But increasingly, we are led to believe that entrepreneurs and social enterprises are the avant garde of change making . Like every concept has both pros and cons, similarly even social entrepreneurship has its own demerits. On one hand it is one major factor in bringing change while on the other end it is being overused by companies who start off with the motive of being socially responsible and use this for the advantage in future ,by diverting their focus on profits. The point is, all of a sudden, social entrepreneurship was everywhere and everyone wanted to be one. The key to sustainable capitalism is reasonable profits as opposed to maximizing profits. In the current system, a segment of society is trying to maximize profits without concern for the impact on the well being of the society as a whole, while another segment of social organizations have to deal with the fall out. The system is not working. If it does good in some areas it also does bad in others. The example of Toms one for one shoe program though does charity and is a social enterprise but at its worst, it promotes a view of the world s poor as helpless, ineffective people passively waiting for trinkets from shoe buying Americans. While the shoes themselves probably won t lead to any kind of disaster, that worldview can lead to bad policies and real, serious harm also has a small negative impact on local markets. And so I have come to feel increasingly uncomfortable with the term social entrepreneurship and its main actor, the social entrepreneur . It creates a false separation between this is where we make money, and this is where we do good . And that is exactly what is wrong with capitalism today. Before one can make a judgement for what is right and wrong, one must understand to a degree the consequences of those actions. Businesses have responsibilities for the product they manufacture and distribute, but how much responsibility is too much. In this perspective, we will examine the ethical implications of product manufacturing of Product Quality, Pricing, and Labeling and Packaging. This would violate the standard of product quality, which is to create a high quality, low costing product as mentioned earlier. To further illustrate, Fuller s Company provides industrial glues, coatings, and paints. If a consumer buys an industrial glue, and it does not work as effectively due to the addition to the noxious oil, this is an example of doing the wrong thing. On the other hand, if the glue works as promised, but the consumer gets sick while using the product the correct way, this is an example of the right thing, done the wrong way. Lastly, if the glue holds for some, and does not for others, then the company has failed to do the right thing, the first time, and every time. This would make this product one of poor quality, and that is unethical. Companies can avoid unintentionally creating poor quality products, and create a peace of mind with their consumers with the use of warranties. Shortly after the survey concluded and the results were in, Fox News started covering what the survey revealed and the headline showed FOX POLL: TRUMP LEADS WITH INDEPENDENTS (Stevens, 2016). Fox News had displayed the wrong results from the poll with no substantial reasoning supporting it. Many critics that have examined this event conclude that Fox News was perhaps trying to sway their viewers to believe that the Republican candidate was in the lead so that the momentum would carry towards November. However, not all Republicans support Trump, so this assumption may not be a valid reason. Also, the fact that many of the individuals who watch Fox News are conservatives may hold some meaning behind this fiasco. Perhaps Fox News was attempting to sway conservatives who were on the fence about voting for the Republican nominee to rally behind a common candidate against the common enemy. Either way, Fox News has decided to drop their socialization role, which is presenting the same information and portraying cultural values to national audiences (Lenz and Holman, pg. 142), by giving their loyal viewers false information regarding their own poll. No longer is commerce managed through clunky and expensive paper based transactions. The advantage of this archaic process, though, was that it allowed corporations to store their documents in secure locations under tight lock key. Today however, these cabinets have been replaced with database systems. Database systems are the modern version of filing cabinets, which house the vast data transacted by corporations. Although databases have eliminated the need for paper based transactions, they have exposed themselves to a different problem altogether. As SANS (2015) puts it, most of an organization s information [today] is maintained in a small, central location, compared to the large file rooms associated with the pre information technology era, therefore those desiring to cause harm to a large amount of information in a short time span now have a convenient means to do so. Theme is the general idea or insight revealed in a narrative. These two stories are also different from the style of writing these two authors wrote how to tell their stories. Loneliness is introduced in the beginning of the short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place by Hemingway. The deaf old man, with no wife and only a niece to care for him, is noticeably lonely. She thinks of herself as being a part of the production that if she were missing someone she would notice. She tells the old man who cares little for her presence that I have been an actress for a long time. Cato and his allies are considered at the top of the pyramid, because District 2 has won The Hunger Games many times in the past. Cato was the one to be feared and he came to the games very confident. The Causative Agent Of Human Monocytotrophic Ehrlichiosis Members of the genus Ehrlichia, the causative agent of human monocytotrophic ehrlichiosis (HME), are important emerging tick borne pathogens globally. Ehrlichia spp. is naturally transmitted by Ixodidae family ticks and maintained between the ticks and the wild or domestic animal reservoir hosts. E. canis can cause illness in dogs and other canids, and these animals are thought to be the reservoir hosts. Evidence of infection with this or a similar organism has also been reported in cats and captive wild felids. Human infections with E.canis have been reported but the incidence is quite few. In Venezuela, chronic, asymptomatic infections with E. canis in human patients have been reported as well as six clinical cases with ehrlichiosis. All patients with clinical cases had a fever, and most had a headache and/or myalgia. Also, malaise, arthralgia, nausea, vomiting, rash, bone pain, diarrhea or abdominal pain occurred in some patients. Leukopenia was seen in one patient and anemia in another. All of the six patients were young and otherwise healthy, and the E. canis strains were identical to those seen in dogs. E. canis nucleic acids have also been detected in a small number of stored human serum samples in the U.S. Although E. canis occur worldwide, its presence and density in an area varies with the distribution of its tick vectors. Equilibrium will shift to the left causing the solution to become light red. 4) Heating favours endothermic reactions. As the reactant Co(Hв‚‚O)₆²⁺ was heated, the solution changed from light red to dark purple. This suggests that the equilibrium shifted right. Therefore, the forward reaction is endothermic. 5) Adding NaCl would increase [ClвЃ»]. That is safe because the helmets have big pads inside the shell to support the head on contact. The the next reason that safety gear is safe is the shoulder pads. The shoulder pads help because they make the player lower their shoulder so they don t get hurt /injured. The pads go on the shoulders and chest of a player. The shoulder pads protect the player from fractured bones in the upper body area. A neck roll will go on a player s shoulder pads and around their neck. It helps the neck and head because when the player gets hit in the head the neck roll will stop their helmet from bending backwards. Another reason that makes football safe is PROPER tackling. The play opens with a hopeful precedent for a return to a proper patriarchal society. The Eumenides brings to mind other myths, Zeitlin notices that the trial scene has strong connections with another Athenian myth of a trial that also is very concerned with gender. Athena had to compete with Poseidon for the city of Athens and this was decided by a vote. This was during a time when women had the right to vote, and lead promiscuous lives and no one knew who his father was. The women side with Athena and they out number the men by one and so Athena wins. The women however must be punished for the use of their power and so patriarchal society is installed.1 Whether Athenians felt at all uncomfortable with this founding myth of their female patron deity is debateable but Athena s famous speech (Eum. 750 756) has been interpreted as a returning of the favour. • 54. Representation Of Characterism In Picnic At Hanging Rock... Joan Lindsay, the renowned author of the distinguished Australian novel Picnic at Hanging Rock, has foreground the representation of Victorian society as repressed and constrained through the characterisation of various figures throughout the novel. The riveting tale follows the mysterious disappearance of three girls and a teacher, with only one girl to ever be seen again, during the Appleyard College s trip to the mystic Hanging Rock on Valentine s Day in 1900. One of the main focuses in the book is the depiction of the Victorian Society as uptight and controlled, which has been developed by various characters, including Miss McCraw, Mrs Appleyard and Mademoiselle. Miss McCraw, the peculiar mathematics teacher, is one of the least likely to go missing. However this is exactly what occurs and through this uncharacteristic disappearance a notion is presented that excessive repression results in extreme methods of release. The characterisation of Mrs Appleyard, combined with that of Miss McCraw, also develops the readers understanding of Victorian society and how rigid social constraints will eventually breakdown. In contrast, Mademoiselle, the passionate arts teacher, juxtaposes the previously mentioned characters by being kind and affectionate towards the girls. The characterisation of these individuals throughout Picnic at Hanging Rock contributes to the overall portrayal of Victorian society as uptight and suppressed and progresses the reader s understanding of this ...
