Stakeholder is a person having direct or indirect interest in the firm s objective, which include
customer, board of directors, employees, shareholders, suppliers etc. They track the satisfaction of
various constituencies who have critical interest in and impact on the company s performance
(Kotler Keller,2012). Take gate gourmet as an example it is the supplier of British airways, as a
stakeholder it plays an important role in the development of the firm whereas it is also crucial to

plans, which resulted in an unofficial strike. The food supplier terminated over hundreds of its
workers prior to that British Airways staff took action, the trade union disapproved of it. Actions
taken by British Airways workers resulted in cancellation of over 700 flights during a vigorous time
of the year. Around a thousand Heathrow staff expressed their support for the terminated gate
gourmet workers, both BA and gate gourmet staff belonged to the same union and community who
were mostly Asian British. The incident led to a thousand passengers being stuck and resulted in
the costing the company an estimated amount of ВЈ40 million. Furthermore it outlaid a bad
reputation for the airline. This was the third sequential summer that BA passengers have faced
severe interferences due to industrial action.
Without delay, BA was constrained to interfere openly in the Gate Gourmet clash, because it
remains reliant on the company to source the heavy quantity of meals it demands at its Heathrow
hub. BA decided to renegotiate its contract on the condition that Gate Gourmet fixed its own labor
dispute. BA proposed an addition of two years to its existing contract, moving it to 2010, with
some progress in terms to assist cover the anticipated ВЈ7 million cost of a dismissal

3. A Rhetorical Analysis For Geico
Rhetorical Analysis for GEICO Victor Gatdula EGL 112 Rhetorical Analysis for GEICO The
GEICO, Pinocchio as a Motivational Speaker commercial advertisement, is possibly of one of
the most memorable advertisements that GEICO made for their current ad campaign. The main
aim of the ad is convincing the public that moving from their original car insurance company to
GEICO will save them 15% on the insurance and as well as to saturate the airwaves with their
funny and catchy advertisements (Wikipedia, 2014). Despite the fact that the ad is eye catching, it
has very many flaws. Firstly, GEICO does not put any effort to assure the viewers that they will
save the 15% or more money by migrating (Creativity, 2014). Rhetorically, the advertisement just
tries to convince the viewers without providing them with any tangible evidence. The ad begins by

Each and every person that can drive qualifies for car insurance, therefore, qualified to become a
GEICO customer. The commercial is made very appealing by the humor it uses to target a wide
range of viewers (Creativity, 2014). GEICO makes a mistake by assuming that by using a
scenario where Pinocchio is lying and his nose magically elongates will relate to saving 15%
percent of the car insurance. The simple motto of the car insurance company is being able to save
fifteen percent or even more on car insurance. This idea of saving fifteen percent was the only
thing the insurance company tried to prove to its audience. The insurance company is reiterating it
was a reality when it comes to saving money with GEICO (Creativity, 2014). No one dared to ask
to Pinocchio, so why would even think to question GEICO. Since the commercial looks unrealistic,
this showed that the company failed when it came up with these

4. The Age Of Franco Research Paper
The Age of Francisco
Francisco Franco was a ruthless dictator of Spain from 1939 to 1975. He started as a talented
military general, who rose up to power and lead the Nationalist rebels to victory in the Spanish
Civil War. During his time as dictator, he ruled with confidence and control, and sided with the
Axis Powers during World War Two, but then quickly gained a good reputation with the United
Nations after the war was over. As one of the many dictators of the World War Two era, Franco is
an important figure in history.
Biography
Francisco Franco was born in El Ferrol, Spain on December 4,1892 into a military family.
Following in his father s footsteps, Franco joined the military and graduated from Toledo Military
Academy. In 1913, he got his first assignment and was posted to Morocco. There, Franco proved

Franco s main goal was to restore Spain to its former glory. Just five months after the Spanish civil
war ended, World War Two started. Spain remained neutral in the war because of their intense debt,
however they sided with the Axis Powers. Francisco Franco did meet with Adolf Hitlerin the
middle of the war saying Spain would join the war on the side of the Axis powers if Germany
agreed to some of Franco s terms. Hitler denied this request and Spain stayed out of the war.
Franco tried to become completely neutral in the war in 1943 but it was too late, Spain was
invested too deeply with the Axis Powers and gained enemies. The west already viewed Franco as
a fascist and did not support him. Franco tried to change this by changing the name of The State
Party to the State Movement to appear as though he was not fascist. With this change and his anti
communist views, Spain gained political popularity with the United States and was asked to join

5. The Garden Of Earthly Delights Analysis
The Garden of Earthly Delights is a triptych painting by Hieronymus Bosch created between the
years of 1503 to 1515. The painting is an iconic artwork of the Northern Renaissance art period.
Northern Renaissance, popular in northern Europe near the Alps, was influenced by the spread of
Italian Renaissance in the 16th century. Northern Renaissance artworks were dominate in religious
art that emphasize the importance of surface details. The Antwerp Mannerist, a group of
anonymous artists in Europe, had strong connections with the art style that appeared in Northern
Renaissance.
Like most Northern Renaissance art, The Garden of Earthly Delights was painted based on
Christianity ideals. However, unlike most Northern Renaissance artworks that served as religious
works for churches and other religious rituals, The Garden of Earthly Delights was suggested to
serve the purpose in Bosch s interest. There is a possibility that this magnificent artwork was used
to illustrate the consequences of sensual pleasure. A major highlight of this artwork is the scene of

Sub Saharan Africa has the highest risk of death in the first month of life and is among the
regions showing the least progress. However, Sub Saharan Africa has seen a faster decline in its

2000 2011. s of Death One of the major causes of under five mortality is neonatal sepsis. In 2010,
15% of newborn deaths in Africa can be attributed to infections related to the delivery process. In
sub Saharan Africa, care seeking for pneumonia has improved from 36% in 2000 to 46% in 2010
for rural areas, and from 49% to 52% in urban areas. Diarrhoea causes about 11% of under five

Rehydration Salts (ORS), one of the three key interventions for diarrhoea, has increased from
24% of children in sub Saharan Africa receiving ORS in 2000 to 30% in 2011. In 2011, Malaria

organization which can be defined, measured, sustained and changed and have an important impact
on an organization s effectiveness.
We want to define organizational culture as it is presented by two theorists, indicate levels of
expressions of culture in an organization, and provide specific strategies or tools to modify
organizational culture.
We know that every individual has something that psychologists have termed personality . An
individual s personality is made up of a set of relatively permanent and stable traits. When we

In conclusion, Schein (1992) defines the organizational culture as shared assumptions and beliefs

and mobilizes the members. It functions as an organizational control mechanism, informally
approving or prohibiting behaviors (Lawson and Shen, 1998).
In short, organizational culture is a hypothetical construct that must be inferred from the share
thoughts, feelings, values, and actions of organizational members.

Kudler also has also expressed the desire to make the website easier to maintain. Currently, with the
website in its hard coded state, making small changes can turn out to be a fairly difficult.
Ultimately, Kudler Fine Foods would like to add additional functionality of allowing users to
browse store inventory online and perhaps shop online. However, this does require that Kudler s
current website be redesigned in order to facilitate ease of ongoing maintenance of inventory since
the current design, while capable of providing such functionality, would require tremendously more
laborious effort to maintain.
Web Site Maintenance Site maintenance for the current Kudler Fine Foods is very difficult given
the hard coded design that was initially chosen. Given new standards of web design and

would be the recommendation of Learning Team D that Kudler Fine Foods embrace new

Expanding the current product database to include cross references to an image table would
enable a site template to be developed for the consistent display of Kudler products in a familiar

The Hapsburg Valois Wars of 1494 to 1559 are often confused with the Italian Wars. However the
Italian War were a completely different set of wars. The Hapsburg Valois Wars were very much
intertwined with these wars. The latter arose from the instability of the Italian peninsula, which
was divided among a number of vulnerable powers, and also from a new willingness of outside
rulers to intervene. Initially, the most influential was Charles VIII of France (1483 1498), he
invaded Italyin 1494, and manage to take over Naples that following March. Charles s success was
particularly achieved due to his advanced equipment. The cannons used iron shot, which allowed

16. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of White Privilege
In our world today, White privilege is an existing matter. White privilege can be defined as
advantages that assist white individuals in flourishing and gaining success. Privilege is in and of
itself a struggle to equality. The advantages in privilege display the inequality that is in our
society towards those who are not white. We as a society usually do not see the inequality in the
opportunity and quality of life amongst those of different races, and this results from the fact of
wealthy white counterparts being in control and in power since the birth of this nation. White

Most of our History has been consistently recorded by the winners (whites) and that those who

Architects are all influenced by different events, memories, and experiences. Some architects have

Gropius realized that technology was the way of the future and he imagined a world where art and
technology could be unified as one. The creation of the school was a long process and included the
help of many other people, but because of Gropius intelligence and strong passion to educate the
younger generations, the Bauhaus was successful.
The Bauhaus taught many ideas, principles, and design techniques. The main ideas taught were
how to use simple techniques and raw materials to create a complex project. The new perceptual
structure is funded on the constituent elements of visual registration: dot, line, extent, position,
direction. All components and courses related to the Bauhaus were simplistic, yet thoughtful. For
example, the notorious symbol for the Bauhaus Press is a mark containing the combination of a
large circle with a smaller triangle and rectangle. The triangle and rectangle are used to create an
arrow within a circle. The logo itself is composed of the simplest shapes, but still conveys a larger
meaning. Most of the classes were also taught using everyday materials and ideas like cardboard,
fonts, grids, and shapes.
The Bauhaus was centered on a common language for visual communication. All students needed a
fundamental basis before moving forward in expression and creation. The curriculum was the same

19. Superstition And Religion
Superstition and Religion: How It Affects Western and Eastern Medicine My personal
experiences with religion and superstition are skewed due to the evolvement of the way I perceive
things today. Furthermore, I can easily realize that I do not have this one set mind where
everything should revolve around God and the Catholic Church. Taking time to understand why
certain things happen for a reason, and gradually becoming aware of what people choose to
believe in shaped my personal views on religionand the beliefs of unseen forces today. Based on
Marvin Harris, the world may never have a solid answer as to why and how cultures decided to
establish religious beliefs as well as superstition. As for the Hmong culture, however, there is a sign
of major controversy with beliefs in religion and superstition. The practices of Eastern and Western
medicine will meet in the middle despite culture clashes.
The reasons behind why people believe in religion as well as how religious culture has evolved
can be seen in Marvin Harris article, Why We Became Religious . Harris, an anthropologist,
defines the differences between spiritual beliefs and superstition. People perceive the importance of
the role of spirituality as well as the unseen. Harris exemplifies this point with the term mana ,
which means magical power in the Melanesian language. He goes on to discuss how Western culture
expresses the concepts of luck with baseball players who touch their caps or spit and rub into

Judicial independence is the concept that the judiciary should be separate of the legislative and
executive branches of government. It can be argued that to a moderate extent the Constitutional
Reform Act 2005 and Courts and Crime Act 2013 do enforce and protect judicial independence.
Evidence is provided within sections s.3 and s.7 of CRA 2005 along with the reforms introduced
by the Act. Other acts such as the Act of Settlement 1701 also safeguards independence.
Dame Mary Arden argued that judicial independence involved at least two things being the judgein

This enforces independence because it allows the Lord Chancellor and Lord Chief Justice to handle
complaints about discipline and conduct with the help of solely the Ombudsman meaning they are

One important amendment made by the Crime and Courts Act 2013 is that the Lord Chancellor s
powers to accept, reject or ask for reconsideration of recommendations for judicial appointments
below the High Court have been transferred to the Lord Chief Justice . This means the LC would
then focus on the more senior judicial positions. As the LCJ is not a political executive this would
enforce independence as the branches of government would continue to stay separate and allow
judicial diversity, which was a goal of the JAC s .

22. Mclean Hospital And The Medical Field Of Mental Health
I worked as a greeter in volunteer department, directed patients to designated departments and
buildings, and managed shuttle calls for patients and their family members. During the time, I
would sometimes have the opportunity to chat with patients and family members about topics
regarding McLean Hospital and the medical field of mental health. I comprehended the proper
administration of eight medicines applied in the pre hospital setting authorized for EMT Basic by a
medical director and mastered seven pre hospital life saving skills, including the cardiopulmonary
resuscitation and trauma assessment. Throughout the course, I interacted with fellow students in
several simulated scenarios, including numerous hypothetical pre hospital situations. At age ten, a
transfer student enrolled in my elementary school. At first, her behavior was noticeably different,
partially due to her frequent genuine smiles. The classmates would question her numerous times
regarding her personal matters due to the curiosity. Regardless, the transfer student always smiled
without a verbal reply. After several attempts, classmates started to tease her after class in order to
elicit a thoughtful response. A few times, naughty peers lured her to carry out indecent behaviors,
such as, throwing trash to classmates. Even after years, I could recall a time that she cried after an
ill behaved play. Next day, her mother came to the class to discuss about the incident. At the
moment, naughty peers worried

24. The Doggie in the Window Essay
The Doggie in the Window
It s Saturday afternoon, and you are walking down main street doing a little window shopping,
when you come across a pet store. As you peer into the window, you see a cute and cuddly puppy
just sitting there staring at you, pleading with you to buy him. So you think, Why not, we could
use a new member of the family, and this would be a great surprise. Buzzzzz! Wrong Answer! The
problem with pet stores, is that most of them get their puppies from puppy mills. Puppy mills are
commercial mass breeding facilities, located mainly in the Midwest, that churn out litters of
puppies to sell to pet stores. The cute puppy that you see sitting in the window, is probably another
product of a puppy mill. Puppy mills are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

loneliness (Pet Stores and... 1). They circled frantically in their small cages and paced ceaselessly
back and forth. Unfortunately, these are the conditions in hundreds of puppy mills across the
United States. Laws offer little protection and are poorly enforced by the Department of Agriculture.
By the time the puppies are taken away from their mothers and shipped across the country to pet

problems. Some of these health problems include hip deformities, epilepsy, and vision or hearing

this hellish trip continues. A employee of Petland, a national chain of pet stores, reported the

25. The Laws Should And Should Not Be Place
Law is fluid. This statement can be interpreted in a number of ways with no exact answer. One
can construe it as law being ever changing or law varying from place to place. The fluidity of law
is very clearly illustrated in the assorted judgments of law itself. In particular, many are strongly
opinionated regarding which laws should and should not be place. St. Thomas Aquinas, a traditional
law theorist, raised many questions concerning law as he had substantial sentiments around law. He
combined the philosophy of Aristotle and Christian geology to create the Traditional Natural Law
Theory. Aquinas defines law as nothing else than an ordinance of reason for the common good,

Similar to so, Aquinas declares that a law is unjust laws if it is contrary to human good and again,
opposed to divine good. Additionally, just laws are the foundation to acquiring virtue. As Aquinas s
claim will be elucidated and objected, one will be clear to conclude that Aquinas speaks of the truth.
There are different characteristics that create a law. In the light, there are a number of
characteristics that determine if the law is just. Aquinas strongly imposes that all laws must be
just. If not just, then they are invalid, unnatural, and perceived as a perversion of law (Aquinas in
Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). Aquinas states that every human law has just so much of the nature of
law as it is derived from the law of nature (Aquinas in Dimock, ed., 2002, p.20). The essence of
natural law is to elude evil and achieve good. It is an outlet of eternal law, the legislator being God,
in which He commands Nature. Natural law applies only to rational creatures, as opposed to eternal
law which applies to nature as a whole. Naturally, the pursuit of good among humans come in
accordance with natural inclinations that is obtained as living creatures, animals, and rational
thinking. Man strives for self preservation, procreation, and the pursuit of knowledge. With the
nature of humans, and nature of natural law, it is manifestly an ordinance of

Despite its deceleration over the past few years, India has become one of the most attractive

Under this system, Nehru sought to strengthen the agricultural and power sectors, providing
agriculture 45% and industry 5% of the resource during the first Five Year Plan. It initially gave
India an increase of 3.6% (Exhibit 10a) on its gross domestic product during the first five years.
Following this the government isolated the country from foreign investment (as nationalist leaders
feared a dependency on it) and trade in an effort to promote domestic production and as a strategy
to reduce imports. Since the government had also created a complex system of licensing through
the Permit Raj, resources became scarce, the complexity of its bureaucracy fostered corruption and
became a reason of delay for companies. This made it hard for other important areas of the country
to help increase its economic growth. Also, the government gradually came into possession of most
of the private sectors: By 1956, it already had control of commercial banking, oil, insurance and
some important resources such as steel and mining. The government, along with the large family
conglomerates controlled almost all Indian economy and could arbitrarily choose how each

Despite his notoriously confusing rhetoric, German thinker Georg Hegel s philosophical theories
are seductive. Even those thinkers who claim to reject Hegel s ideas, such as Friedrich Nietzsche,
end up utilizing some of his most fundamental tenets. Given the pervasiveness of Hegel, it is rare
for a thinker to veer successfully from his arguments. This paper seeks to argue that there is one
such thinker who does so most compellingly: Hannah Arendt. Although Arendt claims to draw from
Hegel, and many of her ideas can in fact be called Hegelian, her concept of alienation is, upon close
examination, distinctly different from Hegel s. Whereas Hegel posits that alienation is a default
natural state of all subjects, Arendt flips this narrative, arguing that alienation is in fact imposed
upon the subject. Moreover, it does not lie at the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After understanding Arendt s modification of Hegelian alienation, one can view the phenomenon of
alienation as such through the works of thinkers such as Simone de Beauvoir and VГЎclav Havel.
More specifically, Beauvoir s discussion of the Self and Other, and Havel s work on the concept of
ideology, can be connected to Arendt s concept of alienation. In order to comprehend Hegel s
concept of alienation, one must first understand his discussion of the system and dialectics in his
book Phenomenology of Spirit. While he does not explicitly define the term system, through
illustrating the complicated structure of a flower, Hegel implies that a system is the whole that
results from the build up of constituent parts. Hegel furthermore debunks the notion that

Many Americans assume that the concept of actually forming the melting pot ideology in America
would be easy to obtain, that combining various cultures wouldn t be that much of a challenge.
However, an attempt to completely bring this ideology into society can cause problems among the
population. With the rising tension between races in America with recent events such as the riots in
Ferguson, Missouri, trying to combine cultures could cause an explosion of hate crimes and racism
due to the differences between them. The American Melting Potideal, in terms of assimilating
different cultures into one culture, would be difficult to achieve. The Melting Pot culture is one
where several different cultures come together and adopt other parts into one single society. The

The customers bargaining power is another force that presents a competitive pressure on companies
in this industry. Customers are more interested on the brand identity with much preference on the
emergent ones. They tend to be loyal to price elasticity and hence companies are left to compete in
cutting costs. Obviously, consumers will go for products with low prices and therefore companies
such as Apple would not risk being expensive. The more expensive a company s products are the
less the number of buyers received. Immediately a substitute enters the market, everything to do

37. Women s Rights By Doris Humphrey And Ruth St. Denis
As ballets were about telling stories or formulating movements, modern dance broke the rules and
started to focus more on individual expressions. Loie Fuller (1862 1928), Doris Humphrey (1895
1958), and Ruth St. Denis (1877 1968) were pioneering women who took a stand and used their
dance performance to speak up for women s rights. Using dance, they significantly contributed to
the Feminist movement in which they embraced self expression and creativity so that women
could be acknowledged in the dance field and in the society as a whole. During the late nineteenth
and early twentieth century, they found for women s rights by taking dance to a new form, and
creating dances to speak directly and intimately to the viewer (Au 89). Loie Fuller, Doris Humphrey
, and Ruth St. Denis demonstrated the transformation of dance with their innovation of costumes
and stage lighting, incorporation of foreign cultures into performance, and creation of natural
movements and individual expression that rejected the formal structures of ballet to deform a
woman s body, allowing women to be free from stereotype of a traditional woman.
In the 19th century, women were seen as a fragile, weak figure who always depended on men.

To show the tactics the British used to force colonist into the republican values and how colonial
resistance to British rule increased between 1763 and 1776. The resistances grew due to the
policies imposed by the British, the colonies reactions to these policies, and republican ideas.
These strict policies were implemented to get Britain out of their war debt, which came after the
French and Indian war. During the seven year war American colonist sold and traded goods with
the French in the West Indies, increasing Britain s feeling of resentment towards the colonist. After
the defeat of the French, frontiersmen from the colonies began to migrate over the mountains and
into tribal land in the upper Ohio valley but the Indian tribes fought back. The British feared that
an escalation of fighting between the colonist and Indian tribes would disrupt western trade. As a
result the Proclamation of 1763 was created to keep settlers from advancing beyond the
Appalachian Mountains. In the opinions of the frontiersmen they were just claiming what was
already their land. The Proclamation of 1763 was ineffective, proving that the colonist showed
resistance by disobeying the British. The following year Britain imposed the production of
colonial manufacturing to stop, so it wouldn t compete with the rapidly expanding industries of
their empire. The sugar act of 1764 was created to damage the market for sugar growing in the
colonies because the act demanded a higher tax on sugar. The

43. Afghanistan ( Post Soviet )
Assignment 1: Insurgency in Afghanistan (Post Soviet), 1992 1996
By Mukesh Kesharwani 27 Dec 14
Mujahideen s Afganistan 1992 1996
Afganistan is a terrotity which was a battleground between the great powers for centuries.
Afganistan history is a war history since the 3rd Century when it was a part of Ashoka s Maurayan
Empire and becomes a buffer state between British and Russian empire by the end of the 19th
Century. War culture produced a great warriors of history like Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni and
Babur. Multiple civilisations influenced the diverse culture of Afganistan which is a potential cause
of conflict in modern day Afganistan [1]. The focus of this article is the Afganistan under Jihadi rule.
With the establishment of Democratic Republic of Afghanistan by the People s Democratic Party
of Afghanistan (PDPA) in 1978, the socialist agenda was implemented, including equal rights for
women, changing the national flag from traditional green colour to red colour and new credit
system in the countryside resulted agriculture crisis. Finally, all the changes in society and culture,
angered the conservatives who considered the new shift as an attack on Islam. In response to the
radical policies changes and the Soviet invasion of 1979, resistance groups were organised both
inside Afghanistan and in Pakistan [2]. Most groups, mainly fought for one aim: to remove an
imperialistic foreign power and preserve Islam and traditional Afghan ways. These groups and their

44. Allusions In To His Coy Mistress
Upon first glance, Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress presents a simple seduction, as the
speaker uses the passage of time in a straightforward attempt to get his mistress to sleep with
him. Using the threat of inevitable death as a way of urging his mistress to seize the day and
have sex with him, the speaker makes time appear all powerful and controlling for much of the
poem. Marvell explores the theme of time differently in An Horatian Ode Upon Cromwell s Return
from Ireland, as the speaker of this poem describes Cromwell s overthrow of the ancient order by
suggesting that he overthrows the rules and workings of time itself. This interpretation of time as
an entity that can be manipulated influences the portrayal of time in To His... Show more content on

The poem starts out acknowledging the inevitability of death as the speaker tells his mistress,
Your quaint honor turn to dust, / and into ashes all my lust, (29 30). The dry imagery implied in
words such as dust and ashes show that all the heat and passion the speaker and his mistress
currently feel are finite because of time s power. However, as the poem progresses, the speaker
realizes that, despite the ever present threat of eventual death, there is a way to overturn time.
He says, Tear our pleasures with rough strife / through the iron gates of life. / Thus, though we
cannot make our sun / stand still, yet we will make him run, (43 46). The violent diction, evident
through words such as tear and rough strife, suggests that the speaker and his mistress, by having
sex, can break through the iron gates of life with force. Marvell uses hard r and f sounds in his
description to emphasize this idea of breaking through. They would be able to break free from
under time s control, thus making the sun run from them rather than running from time. Making
the sun, or time, stand still is not possible, but by having sex, the speaker and his mistress use a
physical act to escape the power of time by reshaping the mould of their society s

45. Comparison Between Routine Activities Theory And Rational...
Today s class discussion was about Rational Theories, which states that individuals make
reasonable decisions and apply them to their daily life activities. Individual make these decisions
based on their best self interest. The major points of the Rational Theory are: Routine Activities
Theory, Lifestyle Theory and Rational Choice Perspective. Routine activities theory states that
the circumstances of an individual s life is mainly decided by the daily pattern of social
interaction or activities. Therefore, depending on these routine activities criminal offenses could
ascend or descent (Williams and McShane, 2013, p. 238). Accordingly, routine activities theory
is basically the type of routine a person keeps, based on his/her circumstances. Since everyone
has different routine activities, some individuals will be more prone to criminal attacks such as
robbery, rape, murder, etc. as discussed in class. For instance, a young woman that works until 1 o
clock at night, and walks home in the dark is more vulnerable to be rob or sexual assaulted.... Show

They state that depending on a person s daily routine whether work or social activities,
victimization rate differentiate. (as cited in Williams and McShane, 2013, p. 239). For example,
people that have a higher status in society are at lower risk of victimization because they engage
in less routine activities and the places they hang around are saved. However, deprived individuals
have a higher risk of being victimized due to the environment and the interactions with criminals, as
well as, the places they frequent are unsafe, as talked over in

46. The Role Of Women In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Throughout history, there have been varying views toward women in society. Many of these views
are immortalized in the stories and legends that have been documented in history. Two of these
stories, Gilgamesh and The Odyssey, show the attitudes of society towards women during those
times. In Gilgamesh, women are commonly portrayed as manipulative and immoral, which is
demonstrated not only by the human women, but also by the gods. In The Odyssey, however, this
mold is broken by Penelope, Ulysses wife, and Minerva, the goddess of wisdom. Although there
are several women in the story who are similar in nature to characters in Gilgamesh, the overall
view is a much more positive one towards women.
The Epic of Gilgamesh is thought to be the earliest piece of literature that has been discovered and
preserved. This poem, therefore, lends great insight into the views of Mesopotamian society
towards women. Throughout the story, the women are shown to be immoral and manipulative by
the actions of Shamhat, a prostitute, and Ishtar, a scorned goddess. Shamhat s role in the story is
brief, but it lends understanding into what a woman s role was considered to be in Mesopotamia.
She was not ashamed to take him, she made herself naked and welcomed his eagerness (Gilgamesh,
Par. 11). Shamhat s actions demonstrate a licentious and immoral representation of women. She is
known to be a prostitute and is responsible ultimately for the downfall of Enkidu. Without her
temptation,

47. The Research Into Leisure Constraints
As more models of analysis are being made around the research of leisure there has been a shift in
terminology. There has been a movement away from the term barrier to the more inclusive term
constraint. In addition, we do not mean to imply that the existence of barriers automatically leads to
non participation in leisureactivities. Individuals are not passive; instead, they often successfully or
unsuccessfully negotiate through constraints (Jackson, 1995; Crawford et al, 1991).
There have been many models developed to analyze the literature on constraints/ barriers. Many of
these models have been criticized for their lack of insight into an individual s decision making
process and their static approach. What is evident is that there is no consensus on what is the best
model or approach to take. The research into leisure constraints continues to grow. As far as leisure
participation or nonparticipation are concerned...constraints are encountered hierarchically, first at
the interpersonal level. Leisure preferences are formed when interpersonal constraints (eg. stress,
socialization, perceived self skill) are absent or their effects have been confronted through some
combination of privilege and exercise of human will. Next, depending on the type of activity, the
individual may encounter constraints at the interpersonal level (eg. interpersonal interactions); this
could happen in activities requiring at least one partner or co participant but would be less relevant

48. How Does Political Climate Impact Libraries
The political climate in an influential factor in deciding how far reaching libraries can be in the
community it is in. Budget cuts made by politicians affect how much librarians can provide with
the funds that they are afforded. In another article written by Paul Jaeger, Wake up the Nation:
Public Libraries, Policy Making, and Political Discourse calls for libraryand information science
researchers to engage problems of politics and policy making that impact libraries which will
benefit libraries in advocating their needs in the political process (Jaeger 61). Jaeger notes that
there is an interrelationship between policy, politics, and public libraries (Jaeger 61). For example,
a cycle occurs where libraries struggle to provide services

Madison had a very high seat through most of his adulthood, but one time he lost the election
because he didn t give alcohol to the voters.
James Madison wasn t at first a fan of the Bill of Rights but soon he was for the Bill of Rights
and was the key author of them. Not only was he the author of the Bill of Rights he was also one
of the authors of the Federalist Papers. The Federalist Papers were a series of 85 essays that
supported the Constitution. James Madison had some help from Alexander Hamilton and John Jay.
The three of them wrote under the name of Publius because they figured that if the people thought
that the paper were written by a commoner then the people would listen better.
In conclusion James Madison is a very important person in the history of America. Everyone
should know about him and what he did because he shaped our country into what it is today. He
was a very important author writing the Bill of Rights almost by himself and being a second and
third author to the Constitution and Federalist Papers. James was a very smart person and always

50. The Conflict Between Iran And The United Nations
The American hostage crisis occurred in Iran on November 4, 1979 when Iranians forcibly took
control of the American embassy in Tehran. The Iran hostage crisis had its origins in a series of
events that took place nearly a half century before it began. The source of tension between Iran and
the U.S. stemmed from an increasingly intense conflict over oil which continued throughout the
years and fueled Irans hatred of Western influence throughout the revolution. During the midst of
the revolution, American diplomats and officials were held hostage within the embassy for 444
days. Under pressure, President Carter tried every peaceful means he could in order to obtain the
release of the hostages. Diplomatic relations were cut off, imports of... Show more content on

Iranians remained passive and allowed the U.S. to continually profit off of their oil for years until
newly elected Prime Minister Muhammad Mossadegh sought to change this. An American staged
coup successfully removed Mossadegh from office and reinstated Shah Reza Pahlavi, who
moved Iran into a more modern and pro Western era. As per their arrangement, the Shah
negotiated a deal with the U.S. that provided Iran with tens of millions of dollars in foreign aid
and in return the U.S. was given permission to once again control more than 80 percent of Iran s
oil reserves. (Pollack 2004, 54) Looking for a way to revive Iran and return the country to it s
former glory, the people looked to the one man they thought could accomplish this, Ayatollah
Khomeini. Thus the Iranian revolution was born. In an effort to remove Western influence and
American intervention, extremists stormed the American embassy s gates in Tehran, eventually
forcing their way inside. American diplomats and embassy officials were taken hostage and held
for 444 days, starting the event that is known as the hostage crisis.
After diplomatic intervention failed to secure the release of the hostages, President Carter decided
to order a rescue mission. Though the odds were against its success, plans for the military operation
went ahead and the rescue mission was ultimately a complete disaster. Departing from

Hmong Culture Food, Eating and Cooking
Diverse Cultures in America Soc 240

The Hmong people are originally from rural mountainous areas in Laos and they still inhabit that
country to this day. Laos is a country that is located in Southeast Asia. Hmong people are divided
into clans or tribes that share the same paternal ancestry. The Hmong people inhabited all parts of
Laos but all carried pretty much the same cultures and livelihood with them as many immigrated to
the United States in the past few decades (Ohio State University, 2005).
One of the important parts of Hmong culture is their food. The Hmong staple food is white rice.

Hmong try to grow as much food as possible to supplement their families without having to buy
from grocery stores. If there is excess food grown, they are shared with fellow clan members.
Hmong culture relies on many different methods for cooking meals and they are stir frying,
boiling, steaming and roasting over an open fire. Vegetable oils and pork fats are the primary
fats used in cooking if an oil is needed. Seasoning are also an essential part of cooking, they use
soy sauce, hot peppers, ginger, garlic, coconut and lemon grass which are all quite commonly
used. The Hmong culture does not usually use salt and pepper, since it was not readily available in
Laos. But it is been found in more and more of American Hmong kitchens.
There were many products that Hmong use today in America that were not readily available to
them in Laos. Dairy products are one product which was unavailable most of the time in Laos,
though at times goat milk was used to supplement diets. Many Hmong continue to not use dairy
products because of the moderate percentage of Hmong that are lactose intolerant. The overall fat
content in the Hmong diet is very low. The Hmong people eat relatively few sweets and do not
participate in cooking these sweet items very often or at all (Kitler P. Schuer K. 1989).
Sooner or later the inevitable will arise, since we are all are human and curiosity and taste buds
are what doomed Adam and Eve, it is what will someday doom the Hmong

53. Vygotsky s Social Developement Theory
Vygotsky s Social Developement theory focused on the connections between people and the social
and cultural context, in which they act and interact with others. According to Vygotsky, humans use
tools that develop from a culture, such as speech and writing, to mediate their social environments.
Intinitally children develop these tools to serve solely to communcate needs. Vygotsky believed
that the internatlization of these tools led to higher thinking skills. Bandura believed in reciprocal
determinism , that is the world and a person s behavior cause each other. However behaviorism
states that one s environment causes one s behavior, Bandura who was studying adolescent
aggression, found this to be too easy of a fix and so he suggest that behavior causes environment as
well. Later, Bandura soon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not that it is completey correct and the only deciding factor, but I do believe that after a certain
point in our childrens lives, culture does dictate the paths they take and their developement in
many stages along that path. Along with the different interpersonal relationships they have while
walking the paths that society/culture have laid out for them. Teachers and school curriculum
along with the friendships they develope with their peers continues throught most of a child life
starting at the age of 5 continuing through highschool and how ever many years they attend
college, careers and the service if thats the path they choose to continue the cycle. I believe that
what we see, hear, experience is a big part of who we become and is a big part of how we evolve
or change throughout our entire life, but these are changes that continue after we are born and our
genetic predispositions are in place and we ve learned all the basics of gettting around and

54. How Jesus Was Conceived By The Holy Spirit, And Born Of A...
In chapter four, Stein discusses how Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of a
virgin. In the beginning of the chapter he shows where this idea comes from in the bible (p.63
64). After showing his readers where the idea that Jesus was born of a virgin, he goes on to say
who does and does not believe this. The critical views of this contradict what is believed by
Christians (p. 64 65). He discusses why Pagans and Jews do not believe that Jesuswas born of a
virgin Mary (p. 65). He then goes on to tell the story of the birth of Jesus (p. 73). How Joseph
took Mary to Bethlehem, while there she gave birth to Jesus in a stable, and how wise men
came to see Jesus (p. 73 78). He concludes the chapter by defending the Christian belief of Jesus
being born of a virgin (p. 78). All of the information provided in chapter four is important because
the birth of Jesus, of course, plays a huge role in the entire book because it is discussing the life
of Jesus. Although the birth of Jesus might be controversial, no matter how Jesus was conceived
he still lived and breathed and walked the earth. Chapter four plays a huge role in the book as an
entirety because it is the beginning of the life of Christ. In chapter five, Stein discusses the years
in Jesus life that Christians do not know much about. He begins by discussing the normalcy of
Jesus young life (p. 81). He refers to a story in Luke and shows the different interpretations of this
text in order to show the different
