Philoplasty Replacement Essay
While male enhancement surgery can give you quick results on penis enlargement, you still need to
consider many things before deciding to undergo it. You need to consider how the surgery will be
done, how it can affect you, etc.
Bigger and better manhood is what most men desire to achieve. There are various methods that are
available to use in increasing penis size. One method that can probably provide the best outcome
within the shortest amount of time is male enhancement surgery or phalloplasty. Since this is an
invasive process, you need to consider it carefully. Below are some important details about this
method that can help you in your decision making. What Phalloplasty OffersIt is a procedure that
alters the penis in various ways. The shaft of the penis could change in girth and/or length when a

Inside your body, there are still about 8 10 centimeters of the penis (the length depends on your
lineage; for an average American, it is about 13 centimeters). There is a cavity inside your body
through which the remaining penile length hangs from your pubic bone. It is suspended by two
ligaments or connective tissues (called fundiform and suspensory ligaments, respectively) that also
anchor the external tissue of the penis to your body. Through surgery, this internal part is freed
and allows the penis to gain in length, both in flaccid state and in erect state. Once the surgery is
done successfully, you will notice that even in the flaccid state, your penis may be 2 3 centimeters
longer. Even if it is limp, there will be a noticeable increase in its length. When it is erect, you can
expect further good results. After surgery, you can expect to have a cicatricial retraction. During
normal healing, scarring occurs that at times can cause the tissues to contract. This contraction is
controlled by a counterweight until the shaft has completely healed. Concerns have been raised

Prostitution In Canada Essay
The oldest profession in the world ; this is how prostitution is often defined or referred to.
However, the reality of prostitution in the 21st century is much more complex than it was before.
With the emergence of nation states and democracy, the question of the legal status of prostitution
became an issue now more controversial than ever. In Canada, this question resurfaced in the last
decade with the Bedford case, which eventually led to a change in laws pertaining to prostitution
with Bill 36 in 2014. While the Conservatives supported an abolitionist view on prostitution, their
bill was severely criticized by the opposition parties and many groups defending human rights.
Thus, a critical question arises: should prostitution be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the new legislation is now facing legal challenge on the grounds that it doesn t improve
safety conditions for sex workers, which contravenes to section 7 of the Canadian Charter (Ivison
A1). Still, opposition by the NPD and Liberal Party, Amnesty International and other women s
rights organization was for now unsuccessful in proving the bill to be unconstitutional (Ivison A1).
In order to fully understand the debate created by Bill C 36, we must start be defining some terms
pertaining to prostitution and its legal status. First, there are three main model of intervention when
it comes to prostitution: legalization, decriminalization and criminalization (Phoenix 7).
Legalization is when criminal sanctions are replaced by civil regulation of the contract between
prostitutes and clients, such that prostitution acquires a status similar to another type of
employment (8). Decriminalization refers the repeal of laws prohibiting prostitution without the
institution of civil regulations, such that health and safety legislation become the main regulatory
instrument (8). Finally, criminalization corresponds to the current type of legislation in Canada,
which aims to repress and prohibit prostitution (7). The dubbed Nordic model , or abolitionist
approach, describes a legal approach to prostitution which was applied in Sweden and follows the
model of criminalization, but redefines sex work as a problem of violence

Augustine s Ontological Proof For The Existence Of God
Augustine was a Christian theologian and philosopher born during the late ancient period, born
only a handful of centuries after the advent of the common era. Through this era, the separation
between religion and philosophy became increasingly evident, though many theologians and
philosophers did not limit themselves to one field or the other. In fact, many used philosophical
ideas to back up theological concepts and thoughts. One good example of this would be in
Augustine s Ideo Ontological proof for the existenceof god. However, as with most things of a
philosophical nature, there is no simple right or wrong, A or B reading of the Ideo Ontological
proof. Despite any possible contention that may occur over the interpretations of the Ideo
Ontological proof, there is no doubt that the proof contributed greatly towards the development of
western philosophy, as started by Plato centuries prior.
The primary concept behind the Ideo Ontological proof is that god is a thinker of some sort; for
such an influential concept, the definition is actually very cut and dry. The steps to come to such
a conclusion, however, are somewhat more complicated. The first step in this proof is to accept
that humans are, first and foremost, thinkers; something that later philosophers would pick up on
as well. The second is where the problems start; as predicated by the fact that we are thinkers, we
are able to think of eternal ideas. I have troubles with this, as I do not presently believe that

Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald and His Work Essay
Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald and His Work
By the time F. Scott Fitzgerald published The Great Gatsby in 1925, he had
already amassed an impressive literary resume. From his first commercial
publication of the short story, Babes in the Woods at age 23 to The Sensible
Thing at age 28, Fitzgerald published fourteen short stories, one play, two
collections of short stories, and two novels. His first novel, This Side of
Paradise, made Fitzgerald a celebrity. The second, The Beautiful and the

Fitzgerald s maternal grandfather also represented high asperations.
He immigrated from Ireland during the pre Civil War era and became a wealthy,
wholesale grocer in St. Paul.
Although situated economically in an upper middle class, Fitzgerald developed
bonds to upper class friends during his childhood, and aspired to experience the
kinds of opportunties they enjoyed. The quest to achieve seems to have dominated
Fitzgerald since early adolescence. Like many of his friends who attended prep
schools in the East, Fitzgerald attended a Catholic prep school in New Jersey
between1911 13 where he met Father Sigourney Fay. Fay encouraged his ambitions
for personal distinction and achievement. After the death of his maternal
grandmother, his family s sizeable inheritance allowed Fitzgerald to attend
Princeton University the following year. He reportedly remarked at this time to
his friend, Edmund Wilson, I want to be the greatest writer who ever lived,
don t you ? (Connors 1)
During his senior year, Fitzgerald joined the Army, and thinking he would die in
the war, rapidly wrote a novel, The Romantic Egotist. He later revised it as
This Side of Paradise. After falling in love with a southern bell, Zelda

Analysis Of Krashen s Theory Of Language Acquisition
OPTION A: Krashen s Theory of Language Acquisition in my School District The Chicago
Public Schools district, in which I work, offers a program for English Language learners with the
goal to help students become proficient in the English language. In Chicago Public School there
are about 70, 400 students who in 2015 were identified as being English Language Learners.
According to Chicago Public Schools, English Language Learners have a right to participate in an
educational program for English Learners. In order for a student to participate in the English
Language Learner program, students must first be classified or identified as an English Language
Learner. Chicago Public Schools identifies students as English Learners by having each student
complete a survey when they enroll in a Chicago Public School for the first time. The parent or the
legal guardian completes a survey that includes a home language survey that asks two questions: 1.
Is a language other than English spoken in the home; 2. Does the student speak a language other
than English? If the answers given are that yes the student speaks another language and yes a
language other than English is spoken in the home; then, the student is classified as an English
Language Learner. The next step is to test the student s English proficiency level. This is done by
testing the student and assessing his/her listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. After the
student is tested, depending on the results of

The Boston Symphony Orchestra is one of the country s five major symphony orchestras, and
constantly has new pieces for music lovers. The February 2014 concert opened with Prelude to the
Afternoon of a Faun by Claude Debussy,it s a very youthful piece that depicts the young in a
gentle and carefree nature. Impressionism was a leading art movement during his time.In France,
Impressionist was a term used to say a persons work did not follow the norms or rules of society.
Claude was a leading composer of impressionist music and respected among his peers. One of the
earliest art movements of the 20th century was Impressionism. The whole tone scale can often
be seen in his pieces and form the basis of his music .For example, The opening flute solo has a

The plant budgeting begins with me and my staff determining what a plant s quota (in pairs of
pants) for each month should be for one year ahead of time. We look at the plant s past
performance and add a little to this because we expect people to improve around here. These
yearly budgets are updated at the end of each month in light of the previous month s production.
If a plant manager beats this budget figure, we feel he has done a good job. If he cannot meet
the quota, his people have not been working at what the engineers feel is a very reasonable level
of speed and efficiency. Or possibly absenteeism or worker turnover, big problems in our plants,
have been excessively high. When the quota has not been reached, we want to know why and
want the problem corrected as quickly as we can. Given the number of pants that a plant actually
produces in a month, we can determine the number of standard labour hours allowed for that
month. We compare this figure against the 3 actual labour hours to determine how a plant manager
performed as an expense centre. I phone every plant manager each month to give prompt feedback
on either satisfactory or unsatisfactory performance. We also look for other things in evaluating a
plant manager. Have his community relations been good? Are his employees happy? The owners of
this company are very concerned about these factors. An annual bonus constituted the core of Bell

Rutgers University wrote to me. In the Fall of 2015, I was an incoming senior at Hunterdon
Central Regional High School. Excited about the years ahead, I applied to many schools
throughout the United States. I applied to two schools in Alabama, two schools in Indiana, two
schools in New York, and only one in New Jersey Rutgers. My initial goal was to be my own
person and go to a University that no one in my family had attended. In fact, my goal was to

grandfather had planned to go there to study engineering. Being a bright student, he was accepted

graduation, his father passed away. Unable to go from New Jersey to Indiana knowing that his

Cosmos Plant Hydration Lab Report
The graphs and data shows the progression of the Cosmos plant while being hydrated with three
different solutions: water, lemon, and baking soda. They all have different pH levels and affect the
rate of growth. The quantitative data shows the height of the plants. Based on the data table, the
water or neutral pH had the most height, then lemon juice, and lastly the baking soda mixture. The
baking soda mixture left the plants dead after the fourteenth day of the experiment. The data shows
that each plantgrew from 1 2.5 inches everytime they were checked. This can be represented by
trial one of water when the sprout grew from 3.5 inches to 5 inches. Based on the qualitative data,

The Cosmos flower was used to test this. Water has a neutral pH which is generally the best
substance for any type of plant to grow and be healthy. However, the Cosmos also grows well
when hydrated with a more acidic substance. When hydrated with a substance that is more of
abase, it will not grow successfully, which is proven by the data since they died after the third
check and became wilted. The hypothesis was not proven because the plants watered with the
acidic lemon juice grew more successfully than base substance, which was predicted to keep the
plants healthy. The tallest plants that grew was hydrated with water and was 13 inches tall and the
shortest living plant was hydrated with the baking soda solution and was 2 inches tall. The control
of this experiment was the plant, the Cosmos Bipinnatus because it did not change. The amount of
time passed in days was changing, which makes it the independent variable. The dependent
variable was the height of the plant, along with its overall health. After composing the procedure,
it was observed that the measurements were off, which was an experimental error. The mixture
between baking and water was too thick and did not saturate the soil. This could have caused the
plants to die more quickly and the pH may not have affected the data as much if it weren t for this

Thesis Of Cinderella
Cinderella, by the Brothers Grimm, described the life of a maiden named Cinderella. Born to a
loving family, Cinderella s life had drastically changed when her ailing mother had perished
from her disease. After the death of Cinderella s mother, her father had married another woman,
who had two daughters. Unfortunately, Cinderella s step mother and step sisters were cruel to
Cinderella, forcing her to wear rags and perform chores. Instead of voicing the abuse, Cinderella
submissively endured the appalling treatment and had her value reduced to a servant. As years
progressed, the king organized an extravagant ball for three days, designed to attract the prince to
the maidens in the ball. Even though Cinderella desperately wanted to attend the ball, because of
the cruelty of her step sisters, Cinderella remained meek and was warned she would be severely
punished if she didn t sort the lentils. Rather than performing the task and arguing for her freedom,
Cinderella wept and was helped by the pigeons. As the ball continued, the step sisters were
discontent with the completion of their tasks, so they resumed to mistreat Cinderella by requesting
her to complete further preposterous tasks. However, the pigeons would resume assisting
Cinderella, even advising her to shake the tree on her mother s grave for the appropriate attire to
attend the ball. Thanks to the pigeons and the tree, Cinderella attended the ball and established
herself as the candidate of the prince s affection,

Afro-Brazil Culture
The transatlantic slave trade was a primary structuring force of brazilian society. When Brazil
became independent in 1822 from portugal, the slave trade was perceived as a dominant activity
in the country s economy because it involved so much formation and investments. Slavery played
a significant role in the structure of Brazil considering that the system of involuntary labor was the
biggest and most extended of all the slave societies in the Atlantic world. This molded Brazilian
ways of life including jobs, transportation, economic concerns, political factors and culture in many
ways. The modernize approach of religion and traditions of the old African culture now converted
into an Afro Brazilian culture that still has an impact and exists today which is also still celebrated
in Brazil. I believe that without slavery, many of the importance of both sides of society selling
slaves and buying slaves would not have shaped humanity in the modern world. Two centuries had
seen African and European cultural religious and linguistic habits merging into unique Afro
Brazilian social and religious customs, music, and storytelling (Nellis 62). The cultural influence of
Afro Brazilians has persistently grew from celebrations like carnaval into a mainstream popular
culture. Brazil holds a variety of different ideas, culture and people. These ideas and traditions
include musical interests, dancing, different food dishes, literature and art, festivities, and religious
practices.

The Common Romantic Relationship Relationships
Most of the adults in this world are involved in a romantic relationship or will be eventually. The
most common romantic relationship includes the sexual dating relationship, the domestic
partnership, and the marriage. The adults or partners involved in these relationships inevitably
reach a point of conflict and how they react to the conflict can show whether the partners are a
securely, avoidant, or anxious attached person. The securely attached adults usually have a positive
view when dealing with relationship issues. Whereas, an avoidant attached adults are more hesitant
and distance themselves from their partner. Adults who tend to be more emotional, jealous, and
possessive and demand closeness have an anxious attachment. People should strive for the secure
attachment style for the best satisfaction level, commitment level, and ability to adapt to change in
their romantic relationship, that is what most of the adults have and most want their partner to be
the same. Many theorist noticed that there tended to be a pattern with the attachment styles that
people have as adults to what attachment style they had as children. John Bowlbydesigned the
Attachment Theoryto explain the bond between a child and people serving in the caregiver role
(Feldman, 2011). In 1987, Cindy Hazan and Philip Shaver applied Bowlby s views on attachment to
include the bonds between adults and their romantic partners (Nudson martin, 2012). Hazan and

Plato s Influence on the Western Civilization
Plato and His Relation to Western Civilization Plato is one of the succinct psychologists, analyst,
and scholar the world has ever had. He is a lucrative figure in the birth, generation, and early
development of the western civilization. His contributions through ethics, politics, religion,
symposiums, and dialogues with Socrates exemplify a myriad of his works since he was a
young scholar. He participated in a number of events, theoretical appearances, and analysis, and
posting of theories and precepts, which gave birth to the present knowledge in psychology,
religion, and other disciplines of study in the world. It is with immediate agreement that Plato had
a lot of influence on the western civilization. Plato had an extensive relation to western
civilization (Mason, 2010). Plato is seen as an important figure in western civilization in many
ways. For instance, early Christianity is a product of Plato s activities and contributions. Plato
liked to analyze and give connotations, which backed and uplifted the various degrees and
agreements as regards religion in the world. The present sense of western spirituality is just but a
making of Plato characteristics. Concerning the western religion, Plato had little influence and use
of body in religion. This is depicted by the present western civilization in which much of the
activities involve spirituality and not the real physical body. In many western activities, there are
the presence of ascetics, a tendency, and

Overpopulation, Industrialization, and the Degradation of the Environment
The overall growth of the human population in the last 2000 years has been a J shaped growth.
This can also be expressed as an exponential growth. A big question that can only be answered in
time is how this population growth will slow down or stop. The planet can only handle so many
humans before the effects of overpopulation send the environment into an unrecoverable tailspin of
degradation. So the question is will the overall maximum human population be reached in a gradual
manner with a trend resulting in an S shaped population growth, or do we as humans need to

These cultures developed over time into a global system of countries and governments. The
distribution of food, and for that matter wealth, has followed those countries that developed
indutrial techniques fueled by the global economy. As we became ever more efficient at
producing food with the domestication of animals and development of horticulture the human
population grew to meet the supply. However the fact that humans have been able to produce
massive amounts of food does not mean that everyone on the planet is living healthy and well
fed lives. The distribution of food has been controlled by the global economy and interaction of
the governments and countries. The control of the global economy has lead to the relative
prosperity of a few people, while the general population has seen a gradual increase. But there
are still people that live malnurished and poor lives. In fact the largest population growth is seen
in the less developed countries(Soutwick, 161), which means that the number of people living
below the average standard of living is increasing. This poses the question of how we want to
distribute the resources of our planet, or how we can. Do we want to have a smaller population
that all lives well, or a larger population with people that don t all live comfortably? and how is it
possible to reach that goal? These questions are too

basically all of the operations of a human being. Aristotle believed that there are levels of living
things. He stated that plants only have a vegetative soul, animals are above plants because they
have senses and appetites, and humans are above animals because it has the power of reasoning
and knowledge us. Aristotle tries to explain the difference between the body and the soul using an
axe as an example. If an axe were a living thing, then its body would be made ... Show more content

He argues that because of this, there is growth, deterioration, and reproduction. Aristotle says
that plants only have this type of ability. To obtain this, it is important to have a soul. The next
level is sensation. Because of this quality, the feelings of pain and pleasure arises. Aristotle says
that animals have this quality. For a soul to have sensations, vegetation must be there as well. In
other words, if sensation is a characteristic of the soul, its vegetative ability is added as well. The
next capacity that can be developed is appetite, which is very much related to sensation. After the
soul is able to feel, there is a rush of desires. Some desires go along with what we physically need
like thirst and hunger and other desires that we do not need like emotions like anger. The next step
is motion, which is movement from place to place and rest. As said before, in order to have this
ability, it is essential to have the previous ones, building up on the soul. For motion to be possible,
appetite, sensation and vegetation must also be there. The last level is understanding; which
Aristotle thinks is the most unusual. This involves reasoning using thought and intelligence. In this
category, humans would most likely be found even though Aristotle states that some people are
guided only by imagination and not intelligence. Again, to have this quality, all of the
characteristics stated before must be

A Man And A Doll. Society As A Unit, Has Been Pushing Towards
A Man and a Doll
Society as a unit, has been pushing towards the ideal state of living throughout most of history.
People had used symbols and ideas to get points across to help push and fix where society has
holes to further integrate the perfect principles that will then replace social norms, and break
through what once was a flawed belief system. the social rights activist Malcom X was one of
these icons who fought to create a better world for African Americans. The child s toy Barbie, was
a symbol towards women and pushed the idea of that women can push through the ideals that
society wanted them to be. Both for a cause, one plastic, one man, both with an idea.

The three main key events that are included in the novel include the crucial reasoning to why
Malcolm expressed himself the way he did. The events that distinguished Malcolm s character were
racial identity, systemic oppression, and integration v separation.
Ruth Handler created Barbie, after noticing her daughter playing with paper dolls and she was
playing the role of a mother, as most women were expected to be. The basic standard for women
were to be a housewife, and most young girl s toys were children or infants. Ms. Handler wanted
to influence young girls to be anything they wanted. Barbie s purpose was to be an adult to further
portray the young girl s dreams, which is why she specifically sought out an adult woman to depict
her doll, this way when young girls play pretend they would seek a better future outside of
motherhood.
Both Malcolm x and Barbie received a great deal of criticism before becoming famous and
influential, Malcolm x was viewed as a racist and a criminal, he was put in jail and spent seven
years there. In jail was called Satan for cursing at God multiple times, but it was then that he had
met another cell mate, John Bembry and realized that he was trying to be someone that he was not;

Attitudes Toward Luxury Goods
Attitudes toward luxury goods Attitude towards luxury goods and services plays a significant part
of consumer s purchase intention. It is a tendency to react positively or negatively towards a
specific idea (www.businessdictionary.com, 2014). It stands for a global and enduring evaluation
of an action, object, person or issue. Attitude is also a lasting, general evaluation of people
(including oneself), objects, advertisements, or issues ( (M., Bamossy, Askegaard, 2002, p. 127).
The definitions exemplify that attitude is dependent on how a consumer perceives a brand. Attitude
is an influencing factor for consumer s choice of buying a product. In general, our attitude towards
an object, person or idea is pre determined by external factors. It is almost impossible to have a
neutral attitude. Our family, friends, society or media are several examples of having an impact on
our attitude towards an object, issue or person. Besides this aspect, attitude has a significant and
highly impact on our purchase behavior. Throughout the following paragraph the attitude towards
the luxury brand Dior will be outlined and explained. Attitude is a component of 3 main categories:
Cognitive, affective, conative. These 3 components are interdependent and are highly influencing
the individual s reaction during the purchase phase. Cognitive represents the component about
consumer s beliefs towards an object. The individual might have a positive or negative belief. For

Poverty And Loneliness In I Stand Here Ironing By Tillie...
I Stand Here Ironing
In the story, I Stand Here Ironing , written by Tillie Olsen, the iron symbolizes the role of poverty
and loneliness in the mother s life., hence the title. The iron itself represents the mother s current
circumstances; poverty, loneliness, and other misfortunes whereas the actual motion of ironing
represents the mother s train of thought.
The very first thing the narrator says is, I stand here ironing, and what you asked me moves
tormented back and forth with the iron, (Olsen 292). This establishes that the iron is more than a
chunk of metal that makes clothes look neat. Poverty and loneliness do not directly represent the
iron, but the iron represents what the mother is thinking and talking about. Poverty and loneliness
play a role in the life of the narrator and as a result, she ponders about it and how it has affected
her and her daughter. 1 was nineteen. It was the pre relief, pre WPA world of the depression,
(293). She was struggling financially, and because of the Great Depression, she was struggling to
find a job, especially as a woman. And on top of that, she has a child she hardly has time to take
care of because of her quest for a job and money to support herself and her daughter. Not only is
she financially struggling, for I worked or looked for work and for Emily s father, who could no
longer endure (he wrote in his good bye note) sharing want with us. , her husband abandoned her
because of her financial situation (292). What else is more tormenting than thinking about how
much of a financial hell hole one is in and that the only partner they can depend on has given up
all hope? Her thoughts and feelings are linked to the iron and the iron is linked to poverty and
loneliness. As she moves the iron back and forth, so are her thoughts. The thoughts are tormenting,
And when is there time to remember, to sift, to weigh, to estimate, to total? I will start and there
will be an interruption and I will have to gather it all together again. Or I will become engulfed
with all I did or did not do, with what should have been and what cannot be helped, (292). These
consecutive questions remain unanswered and show how much she is thinking about her life.

Walker Art Center Research Paper
So what exactly is the Walker Art Center? The Walker Art Center is a contemporary art center in
MInneapolis Minnesota. It was established in 1927 and it is also one of the most visited
museums in the United States. For this paper I was assigned to visit the Walker Art Center and
choose one piece of art to write an essay about. It was my first time going to the Walker Art Center
and I found myself in amazement with the all the artwork there. I examined many pieces and found
the piece Do womanhave to be naked to get into the Met. Museum ? By the Guerrilla girls the most
compelling. I found this piece compelling because it was the only one that caught my eye since it
was one of the few that represents feminismand equality for women and minorities.... Show more

First of all I started with the subject matter of the artwork. What I saw the subject matter to be
was the woman with the gorilla mask on because it is what catches the audience attention, and it
was also the most detailed aspect in the artwork. The rest was is bolded words and blanket the
woman lays on. The poster is also an example of postmodern art. Next, the medium of this
artwork is screen printed on a poster. The Form of this image is huge. When I saw it at the
Walker Center in the section of the Guerilla girls it was the biggest of them all. The others were
fairly small and put next to each other but this one in particular was by itself and much bigger
than the rest. The context about this poster is that you see a woman that is naked and she wears
a gorilla mask which represents the guerrilla girls. She also covers her private parts to get the
point across that is stated in bold letters that is also the title of the artwork which says Do
woman have to be naked to get into the Met. Museum ? In other words, the naked woman s
private parts being covered is not a coincidence but instead it is the artist s way of telling people
how naked woman are often used in artwork and it s not fair. The poster gets even more
descriptive with the smaller bolder words in the image that state Less than 5% of the artist

Salton Beach Research Paper
In the 1950s and 60s, Bombay Beach in California was a thriving resort. Guests swam, water
skied, and golfed during the day, then headed to the yacht club to party at the end of the night.
Now, Bombay Beach is a faded, rusted, abandoned wasteland. The water smells like salt, gas, and
rotting dead fish. The shores lined with sunbathers before, and now they are covered in green
sludge and dried fish remains. To understand how this place turned from paradise to agony, you
need to know the story of the Salton Sea. Bombay Beach doesn t lie on the west coast, but in the
Colorado Desert. In 1905, the Colorado River swelled, penetrated its walls, and flooded the
desert valley known as the Salton Sink. The water flowed for two years, then creating a 15 by
35 mile lake named the Salton Sea. The creation of this internal sea was an accident; it was
initially emerged to deliver great benefits. Birds flocked to the area, and fish bloomed in the
Salton Sea. Developers held the rare setting and selected it the Salton Riviera, or a miracle in the
desert. Hotels, yacht clubs, homes, and schools sprang up by the shores, as the Salton Sea became

Essay On Social Injustice
Social justice has changed lives through consistent group organization, consistent preparation, and
with the creation of a strong foundation and leaders. Social justice is the idealization that society
gives groups or individuals from a variety of different backgrounds and representations the right to
equally share benefits such as opportunities and resources along with being treated fairly by others
from all backgrounds and statuses (Chung Bemak, 2011). As a society, we hear less about social
justiceand maximize on social injustice as a whole. Social injustice in the court system with fathers
seeking additional parenting time with their child(ren) and reduction in child support expenses has

Such social inequities are not new, in fact, for a long time oppression, discrimination and more has
built blockages for individuals who are not socially accepted (Chung Bemak, 2011). As social
injustice spreads into the light so does the relationship between power and social justice (Chung
Bemak, 2011). Practitioners and advocates spread their awareness on how such power can feed into
social injustice.
Correlation between Power and Social Justice
People who hold a position of power, such as Judges in the family court system have and can
continue to perpetuate social injustice (Chung Bemak, 2011). Such perpetuator of social injustice
can be unintentionally or intentional due to the lack of awareness of certain groups such as single
fathers, fathers who struggle with mental illness, fathers who are gay and more (Chung Bemak,
2011). Judges in the family court system hold a great deal of power, such power has destroyed
relationships with children and families due to Judges lacking awareness on the importance of
fatherhood. Chung Bemak (2011) has expressed that people who hold positions in power and
privilege, such as Judges, have and may continue to disregard people who are less powerful, such as
fathers. At times, disregarding social groups can contribute to unfair treatment which can result in
oppression (Chung Bemak, 2011). Chung and Bemak background and education assists them in
firmly illustrating the affects

things you can check on while waiting for your technician to arrive. Having a commercial freezer

wrong even before the technician arrives. #1 Defrost Timer If you turned your thermostat down to
a colder temperature, and you noticed that your freezer failed to get any colder, the defrost timer
might be to blame. You can manually check the accuracy of your defrost timer. To do this, you
need to take a screwdriver and insert it into the advancement pinion. Then, turn the screwdriver

freezer. #3 Compressor In order for your freezer to stay cold, the compressor has to work
properly. Your compressor should make the same, steady sound as it works. It should almost
just feel like background noise. If your compressor is instead making humming or clicking
noises, a part inside of it needs to be replaced. If you can t hear your compressor running at all,

Evaporator Coils The evaporator coils are located in the rear of your freezer. Check them and see if

They seem to be focus on their own church and not the whole Episcopal Church. Many in the
congregation believe that new members should be confirmed and be baptized in their home
church and not in the other local Episcopal Churches in the Northern Tier. (Congregation belief,
when a person joins a church or comes to be baptized, it is an individual response to the gospel
and their new home church). Last year we had two new members join All Saints and were
confirmed over at St. Paul s Episcopal Church. The Bishop has a Diocesan Schedule, time when
she visits each of the Northern Tier Churches. All Saints bishop visitation is this year 2017.
There were only four All Saints members which showed up for the confirmation. One significant
problem in this small church is their feeling of isolation from the institutional church, Episcopal
Diocese. The congregation often considers themselves as the church, as a family of local
Christians. The Church congregation lives mostly in the past and clings to the historical Church
as their Church. The congregation has old embedded ways of thinking and old ways of the heart.

Epistemic Reasoning In Blaise Collins The Wager
The undermining of pascal s wager by the fine tuning data
In the year 1654 at age 31, Blaise Pascal, the renowned mathematician physicist had religious
experience that caused him to reorient his life towards writing a defense for the Christian faith.
One of his most famous works was on the subject is The Wager , which argues, through cost benefit
Analysis, that individuals should take steps to believe in God. This entire argument hinges on the
premise that epistemic reasoning is incapable of proving, with any real certainty, the existence of
God; therefore, individuals must base their decision to believe, or not believe, on prudential
reasoning. Beginning at the end of the twentieth century and continuing to the present day, scientist

However, The premise that epistemic reasoning is incapable of educating our decision in believing
in God is a bold claim, on that is disproved by the Fine Tuning Data argument of Collins. Collins
argument sats that the precise balance of the structural settings of the universe that need to be given
in order to permit life, in any form, is more probable given the Theistic Hypothesis that God (God
being an ethereal, omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent, omnipresent mind, not necessarily the
traditional God of Christianity that Pascal is talking about) caused the fine tuning than the Atheistic
Hypothesis that the universe and its fine tuning are simply brute facts. The Principle of
Confirmation therefore lends the Fine Tuning Data as evidence for the Theistic Hypothesis over the
Atheistic Hypothesis. The objection that there are possible tuning values outside the illuminated
range that could be conducive to life falls flat do to the Principle of Indifference (also called the
Principle of Insufficient Reason), which says that since we do not know how the non illuminated
range can come about, then the Fine Tuning Data is still equally improbable inside the illuminated
range. The Atheistic Many Universe objection also comes up short because: there is no evidence
that other universes than ours exist: without a nonrepeating function to the Universe Generator, the
probability of achieving the Fine Tuned Data does not increase, let alone approach one, like the
objection intends; and even if there were a Universe Generator cranking out universes with a
nonrepeating function, that is still more

Rhetorical Analysis Woman
In his artwork Woman in the Blue Veil (La femme au voile bleu), Pablo Picasso appropriated
different aspects of classical Greek art and borrowed various elements from Greco roman pieces
like Grave Naiskos of a Seated Woman with Two Standing Women. Woman in the Blue Veil was
most likely inspired by Greco roman artifacts like Grave Naiskos of a Seated Woman with Two
Standing Women. According to the didactic panel of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, in
the Picasso and Rivera exhibit Woman in the Blue Veil was painted near the end of Picasso s neo

This fascination can be seen the sculptural quality of his painting, which can be compared to a
style similar to Greek funerary art. The figure in the painting is wearing traditional ancient

Roman custom. Like traditional Greco roman art, Picasso focuses a lot of attention on the face
of the figure, while still giving a lot of detail to the clothing. In Picasso s piece there are many
curved lines, which seem to suggest a sense of comfort and ease, while the horizontal lines in the
piece suggest a distance and calm. All of these feeling would appeal to the people who had
witnessed the devastations of the war only several years before the painting was made. The long
continuous lines guides the viewer s eye in certain directions, and keeps the viewer interested. The

of continuous movement. The triangles created by the woman s clothing and her nose leads the eye

abandons him, Ralph is warned by Samneric about Roger and Jack. Eric says They hate you,
Ralph. They re going to do you. They re going to hunt you tomorrow (170). At this time, Ralph is
considerably weaker than he was at the beginning of the story. He has no tribe to protect him,
aside from a few littluns. Piggy and Simon are both dead, and Samneric now are joined with
Jack s tribe. Because of this, Jack can more easily target and kill Ralph. All forests accumulate
dead and dried up bits of sticks and leaves that can easily catch fire. These conditions make
wildfires inevitable. Cruelty is just as inevitable, and perhaps just as natural. Throughout the story,
the boys repeatedly cry Kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the

Abusive Relationships In A Thousand Splendid Suns
Unhealthy Relationships
The greatest marriages are built on teamwork. A mutual respect, a healthy dose of admiration, and
a never ending portion of love and grace. (Weaver). As nationally acclaimed author Fawn Weaver
suggests, a successful marriage is based on the mutual infatuation within a couple, as well with the
longevity of newly found love that is found in the premature ages of a relationship. Although it may
not always be the most easy thing to do at all times, a healthy marriage should consist of the
ceaseless admiration of the two through smooth as in rough. Even though this is way that an ideal
everlasting relationship should be undertook, that is not always the case. In many instances, the
Biblical bonding between male and female, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Rasheed s case this is most likely because he lives in a very patriarchal society in which males
make all the rules. As a matter of fact once the taliban came into power, one of their rules was
that women will stay inside their homes at all times and that if a woman should go outside the
home they should be accompanied by a male relative. (278). Obviously a society in which
women are not even allowed to go outside without a male relative, increases the amount of power
that men have exponentially. Although American culture during the 1990s did not have such
strict laws against women at the time, many occupations were filled by male personnel. As a
matter of fact, just over 30 million women were working in the 1990s, compared to the 55
million men at the time. (Census). Even though America was not nearly as male dominated as
Afghanistan during the Taliban era, it was still very patriarchal. This is a very probably cause to
the reason why seven out of ten domestic disputes are male against female. (Campbell). Khaled
shows through his novel that it is almost always the male that is doing the abusing in their Afghan
society at the time. Mariam makes it clear that the women are helpless against the power of the
male by incorporating statements such as, As a reminder of how women like us suffer. How
quietly we endure all that falls upon us. (91). Under the

Britain And The British Empire
As the British Empire developed into one of the largest in the world, the purpose of the empire was
questioned and how the empire would affect Britain created tension within Britain. Throughout the
eighteenth century, the British focused their efforts on a commercial and maritime empire that
would carry their values of liberty, equality and rule of law with it. The accounts detail aspects of
the first empire with the mentality and the treatment that the men have regarding their ideas of
Britain and her empire. Ideas that would be challenged by the American Revolution and the
Americans claim against the British, such as repressive and calling the king a tyrant. This forced
the British to adapt the image of themselves and how they dealt with their empire. In order to
understand the changing times that the accounts are documenting, first the men need to be placed
into the society in which they lived. This will be accomplished through the development of the
empire s ideology and forming of the British identity, and then by looking at the British state
building and forms of nationalism with an emphasis on class and gender within the nation. This
will be followed with the British perspective of the empire and concluded by discussion the
mobility caused by the empire that is demonstrated from the travel accounts. First, the development
of the British imperial ideology and the formation of an identity that plays an integral role within
the narratives and the development of a unique

Winterbourne View and Baby P Essay
Winterbourne View and Baby P In reports for both Winterbourne View and Baby P, there are
serious failures from all care providers in ensuring safe and adequate care and safeguarding of
the individuals involved. The serious failures and issues range from a lack of communication and
reporting, to physical and mental abuse (in the case of Winterbourne View), and a lack of training
and acceptance of responsibility in both cases. Winterbourne View: Winterbourne View, a private
residential home caring for those with learning difficulties, challenging behaviour and complex
needs, was closed in June 2011 after a CQC inspection found that the registered care provider,

They failed in their responsibilities to provide appropriate training and supervision to staff.
Inspectors said that staff did not appear to understand the needs of the people in their care, adults
with learning disabilities, complex needs and challenging behaviour. People who had no
background in care services had been recruited, references were not always checked and staff
were not trained or supervised properly. Some staff were also too easily ready to use methods of
restraint without considering alternatives. The report concluded that there was a systemic
failure to protect people or to investigate allegations of abuse. The provider had failed in its legal
duty to notify the Care Quality Commission of serious incidents including injuries to patients or
occasions when they had gone missing. Baby P: Peter Connolly was a 17 month old British boy
who died in London after suffering more than 50 injuries over an eight month period. During the
8 months, he was repeatedly seen by Haringey Children s services and NHS health professionals.
Peter s mother, Tracey Connelly, her boyfriend, Steven Barker, and Jason Owen (later revealed
to be the brother of Barker)[5] were all convicted of causing or allowing the death of a child.
Following the conviction, three inquiries and a nationwide review of social service care were
launched, and the Head of Children s Services at Haringey removed by

Religion In Country Music
One aspect that I analyzed in country music was the presence of religion. This is an issue that
many sociologists choose to analyze because of its relation to organizations and groups. In country
music there is a strong Christian presence and although it didn t occur considerably in the songs I
analyzed, it tends to be the only religion associated with country music. Religion Plays a key role in
developing people s ideas about right and wrong (2015; 75). This sole reason can be a major
influence in many country lyrics, as well as the culture of country music. Country music is not a
religion by any means, but the role of Christianity in the music can have a significant role in the
way listeners determine what is right and wrong. Religion s... Show more content on

All of these tended to have a major reoccurrence in all of the songs. The question I can now
answer is how does country music play a role into the fears and dreams of the listeners. In the
lyrics there is a certain kind of language that the artists use to try and capture an image in the
listener s head. In society, Language gives mean to the people, objects, events, and the ideas of
our lives. If fact, language reflects and often determines reality (2015; 30). The reality is that the
language in these songs gives to the listener can give them a dream of finding true love. The
language gives hope to the listener that there is that one person they will love out there, but this
also plays into the fear of heartbreak. Heartbreak was also discussed a great amount and is
something that most people tend to fear. Another way that these songs play towards people s
fears and dreams is through social class and money. While social class is one of the most
common issues, the lyrics and videos manage to give followers the images of how a luxurious
lifestyle can lead to happiness and love. This can definitely have a fear aspect to it as well because
of how unlikely it is that a person will fall into the social class that the songs

Cloud Application Essay
The project aims to develop and sustain the necessary tooling that will assist Cloud application
lifecycle management operations, using open standards and languages, where appropriate. As
aforementioned, these operations are classified into three distinct categories: (1) application
description, (2) application deployment and (3) application monitoring. Cloud application

architecture for each of the aforementioned operations and will inherit the same look and feel
that Eclipse users are accustomed to. To guarantee the quality of the resulting product, the
project will follow designated development cycles with rigorous code reviews, unit tests and
release cycles (eclipse, ND). INTRODUCTION A cloud application (or cloud application) is an
application program that capacities in the cloud, with a few attributes of an immaculate desktop
application and a few qualities of an unadulterated Web application. A desktop application lives
altogether on a solitary gadget at the client s area (it doesn t essentially need to be a desktop
PC). A Web application is put away altogether on a remote server and is conveyed over the
Internet through a program interface. Similar to other Eclipse frameworks, CAMF organizes all

Theme Of Flash Fiction
Stephan King once stated, We make up horror to help us cope with the real ones. The three texts,
The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, The Nicest Kid in the Universe by Chuck Rosenthal, and
Charlotte s Back by Sydney Kennedy, all include this theme of horror. Horror is this intense feeling
of fear, shock, or disgust and many authors choice this feel for their stories because there is such
a demand for it. We all have this built up fear and horror and movies and books include horror

Kennedy also borrowed the train crash which she transformed to a car crash, which both
resulted in death. In the text it states, It was he who had been in the newspaper office when
intelligence of the railroad disaster was received, with Brently Mallard s name leading the list
killed. This quote shows how Kennedy effectively took the train accident, and turned into a fatal
car crash, which in this day in age is more relevant. She cohesively included both borrowed
elements quite effectively. In Charlotte s Back it indicates a sense of fear and horror in the
reader. For example, the text states, She was covered in blood, her eyes were red, and her pink
dress was cut and mangled. This quote explains how Kennedy included graphic elements and
descriptions to frighten the reader. Gothic elements and were also included into the the work.
The gloomy ad ominous setting of the insane asylum gave off a mysterious and gothic feel.
Kennedy also included supernatural elements to hit on the the horror genre. Charlotte reappeared
as a ghost and came back to haunt and kill her father, which fits right into the gothic feel of the
story. These gothic elements, such as the ghost, are also some of Kennedy s childhood fears. She
once stated in an interview that she always believed as a child that her baby dolls moved and were
real. It even got to the point where she had to throw them away. She used this childhood fear

The Lion And The Mouse Pinkney
In the story, The Lion and The Mouse by Jerry Pinkney; it has an extremely strong moral which
is, don t judge a book by its cover. In this story the lion spares the mouse s life and in return the
mouse saves the lion s life. The author demonstrated this when even though the lion thought the
mouse was to small to amount to anything the mouse proved him wrong by saving his life. The
author did this to show that even a tiny mouse could make a huge difference to a giant lion.
Another lesson is that if you are nice to people then people will be nice to you. This story has
always been told with different variations but in the end the moral would always be either don t
judge a book by its cover or treat others the way you would want to

American Literature And Ways They Cultivate Their Own...
Literary theorist Ihab Hassan discusses the different types rebel outsiders in American literature and
ways they cultivate their own methods of survival within their societies. A common outsider to
which he refers is the lonely adolescent. As a character straddling the cusp of childhood and
adulthood, the lonely adolescent navigates through a loss of innocence and disenchantment to
come to terms with his own male identity, as well as establish his role in society and find purpose
as an adult. J.D. Salinger s novel The Catcher in the Rye follows anti hero Holden Caulfield through
a seemingly innocuous trip in New York City. Throughout his journey, Holden tries desperately to
interact with others but often finds himself alienated; in this... Show more content on

Holden s compulsive lying creates a barrier of protection around him when he interacts with
strangers. His cynicism and judgment of others is a front as well, specifically designed to
protect him from the rejection of others. When people let him down, the sting of rejection hurts
a lot less because he has already expected everybody to be phony or more specifically, a vain,
status obsessed suck up. By calling everybody a phony, Holden creates a safety net and justifies
the way others treat him; this is his self fulfilling prophecy. Holden s constant decree of
phoniness also unveils the purpose behind his journey in New York City: he is searching for
authenticity and he finds that he can only locate it through the innocence of childhood. Holden
suffers from physical and emotional displacement as an adolescent. He is constantly being
uprooted from each private school he attends, never creating strong attachments that may keep
him at a single school for a long period of time. He is bitter and emotionally stunted since the
death of his brother, Allie. Though Salinger briefly discusses Allie, it is clear to the reader that his
death has traumatized Holden. He is just coming to grips with the fact that no, life is not fair and
that nobody can be shielded from the horrors of it forever.

Methods of Research
Research, systematic inquiry aimed at the discovery of new knowledge, is a central ingredient of
the scientific method in psychology. It provides the key to understanding the degree to which
hypotheses (and the theories behind them) are accurate. Just as we can apply different theories and
hypotheses to explain the same phenomena, we can use a number of alternative methods to conduct
research.
In this exercise, you will learn more about several methods of research that psychologists use to
gain new knowledge about human behavior and ethical concerns psychologists face when
conducting research.

3. You have decided to conduct a survey on whether a given political candidate will be popular with
Latino voters.
* What is an advantage of the survey method?
The survey method can be advantageous to show that a political candidate would be popular
amongst Latino votes because a larger population can be surveyed. This would show the attitudes
of those surveyed. * What is a disadvantage of the survey method?
The disadvantage is that the participants may not accurately or honestly answer the questions for
fear of having socially unacceptable attitudes.
4. You have decided to use the case study method to investigate a mother s experience in raising a
child with autism.
* What is an advantage of the case study method?
When studying a child with autism the case study method provides an in depth and intense
investigation of the individual and their behaviors. This provides a better understanding of the
individual.
* What is a disadvantage of the case study method?
The disadvantage is that the child is unique and the results couldn t be associated to the larger
populations because the results may not apply to all or represent the larger population accurately.
5. When conducting research what are some of the ethical concerns that must be addressed?

  • 2. Philoplasty Replacement Essay While male enhancement surgery can give you quick results on penis enlargement, you still need to consider many things before deciding to undergo it. You need to consider how the surgery will be done, how it can affect you, etc. Bigger and better manhood is what most men desire to achieve. There are various methods that are available to use in increasing penis size. One method that can probably provide the best outcome within the shortest amount of time is male enhancement surgery or phalloplasty. Since this is an invasive process, you need to consider it carefully. Below are some important details about this method that can help you in your decision making. What Phalloplasty OffersIt is a procedure that alters the penis in various ways. The shaft of the penis could change in girth and/or length when a man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inside your body, there are still about 8 10 centimeters of the penis (the length depends on your lineage; for an average American, it is about 13 centimeters). There is a cavity inside your body through which the remaining penile length hangs from your pubic bone. It is suspended by two ligaments or connective tissues (called fundiform and suspensory ligaments, respectively) that also anchor the external tissue of the penis to your body. Through surgery, this internal part is freed and allows the penis to gain in length, both in flaccid state and in erect state. Once the surgery is done successfully, you will notice that even in the flaccid state, your penis may be 2 3 centimeters longer. Even if it is limp, there will be a noticeable increase in its length. When it is erect, you can expect further good results. After surgery, you can expect to have a cicatricial retraction. During normal healing, scarring occurs that at times can cause the tissues to contract. This contraction is controlled by a counterweight until the shaft has completely healed. Concerns have been raised ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Prostitution In Canada Essay The oldest profession in the world ; this is how prostitution is often defined or referred to. However, the reality of prostitution in the 21st century is much more complex than it was before. With the emergence of nation states and democracy, the question of the legal status of prostitution became an issue now more controversial than ever. In Canada, this question resurfaced in the last decade with the Bedford case, which eventually led to a change in laws pertaining to prostitution with Bill 36 in 2014. While the Conservatives supported an abolitionist view on prostitution, their bill was severely criticized by the opposition parties and many groups defending human rights. Thus, a critical question arises: should prostitution be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the new legislation is now facing legal challenge on the grounds that it doesn t improve safety conditions for sex workers, which contravenes to section 7 of the Canadian Charter (Ivison A1). Still, opposition by the NPD and Liberal Party, Amnesty International and other women s rights organization was for now unsuccessful in proving the bill to be unconstitutional (Ivison A1). In order to fully understand the debate created by Bill C 36, we must start be defining some terms pertaining to prostitution and its legal status. First, there are three main model of intervention when it comes to prostitution: legalization, decriminalization and criminalization (Phoenix 7). Legalization is when criminal sanctions are replaced by civil regulation of the contract between prostitutes and clients, such that prostitution acquires a status similar to another type of employment (8). Decriminalization refers the repeal of laws prohibiting prostitution without the institution of civil regulations, such that health and safety legislation become the main regulatory instrument (8). Finally, criminalization corresponds to the current type of legislation in Canada, which aims to repress and prohibit prostitution (7). The dubbed Nordic model , or abolitionist approach, describes a legal approach to prostitution which was applied in Sweden and follows the model of criminalization, but redefines sex work as a problem of violence ... • 4. Augustine s Ontological Proof For The Existence Of God Augustine was a Christian theologian and philosopher born during the late ancient period, born only a handful of centuries after the advent of the common era. Through this era, the separation between religion and philosophy became increasingly evident, though many theologians and philosophers did not limit themselves to one field or the other. In fact, many used philosophical ideas to back up theological concepts and thoughts. One good example of this would be in Augustine s Ideo Ontological proof for the existenceof god. However, as with most things of a philosophical nature, there is no simple right or wrong, A or B reading of the Ideo Ontological proof. Despite any possible contention that may occur over the interpretations of the Ideo Ontological proof, there is no doubt that the proof contributed greatly towards the development of western philosophy, as started by Plato centuries prior. The primary concept behind the Ideo Ontological proof is that god is a thinker of some sort; for such an influential concept, the definition is actually very cut and dry. The steps to come to such a conclusion, however, are somewhat more complicated. The first step in this proof is to accept that humans are, first and foremost, thinkers; something that later philosophers would pick up on as well. The second is where the problems start; as predicated by the fact that we are thinkers, we are able to think of eternal ideas. I have troubles with this, as I do not presently believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The plant budgeting begins with me and my staff determining what a plant s quota (in pairs of pants) for each month should be for one year ahead of time. We look at the plant s past performance and add a little to this because we expect people to improve around here. These yearly budgets are updated at the end of each month in light of the previous month s production. If a plant manager beats this budget figure, we feel he has done a good job. If he cannot meet the quota, his people have not been working at what the engineers feel is a very reasonable level of speed and efficiency. Or possibly absenteeism or worker turnover, big problems in our plants, have been excessively high. When the quota has not been reached, we want to know why and want the problem corrected as quickly as we can. Given the number of pants that a plant actually produces in a month, we can determine the number of standard labour hours allowed for that month. We compare this figure against the 3 actual labour hours to determine how a plant manager performed as an expense centre. I phone every plant manager each month to give prompt feedback on either satisfactory or unsatisfactory performance. We also look for other things in evaluating a plant manager. However, these were not the only words Rutgers University wrote to me. In the Fall of 2015, I was an incoming senior at Hunterdon Central Regional High School. The baking soda mixture left the plants dead after the fourteenth day of the experiment. The data shows that each plantgrew from 1 2.5 inches everytime they were checked. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Cosmos flower was used to test this. Water has a neutral pH which is generally the best substance for any type of plant to grow and be healthy. However, the Cosmos also grows well when hydrated with a more acidic substance. When hydrated with a substance that is more of abase, it will not grow successfully, which is proven by the data since they died after the third check and became wilted. The hypothesis was not proven because the plants watered with the acidic lemon juice grew more successfully than base substance, which was predicted to keep the plants healthy. The tallest plants that grew was hydrated with water and was 13 inches tall and the shortest living plant was hydrated with the baking soda solution and was 2 inches tall. The control of this experiment was the plant, the Cosmos Bipinnatus because it did not change. The amount of time passed in days was changing, which makes it the independent variable. • 16. Thesis Of Cinderella Cinderella, by the Brothers Grimm, described the life of a maiden named Cinderella. Born to a loving family, Cinderella s life had drastically changed when her ailing mother had perished from her disease. After the death of Cinderella s mother, her father had married another woman, who had two daughters. Unfortunately, Cinderella s step mother and step sisters were cruel to Cinderella, forcing her to wear rags and perform chores. Instead of voicing the abuse, Cinderella submissively endured the appalling treatment and had her value reduced to a servant. As years progressed, the king organized an extravagant ball for three days, designed to attract the prince to the maidens in the ball. Even though Cinderella desperately wanted to attend the ball, because of the cruelty of her step sisters, Cinderella remained meek and was warned she would be severely punished if she didn t sort the lentils. Rather than performing the task and arguing for her freedom, Cinderella wept and was helped by the pigeons. As the ball continued, the step sisters were discontent with the completion of their tasks, so they resumed to mistreat Cinderella by requesting her to complete further preposterous tasks. However, the pigeons would resume assisting Cinderella, even advising her to shake the tree on her mother s grave for the appropriate attire to attend the ball. Thanks to the pigeons and the tree, Cinderella attended the ball and established herself as the candidate of the prince s affection, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Afro-Brazil Culture The transatlantic slave trade was a primary structuring force of brazilian society. When Brazil became independent in 1822 from portugal, the slave trade was perceived as a dominant activity in the country s economy because it involved so much formation and investments. Slavery played a significant role in the structure of Brazil considering that the system of involuntary labor was the biggest and most extended of all the slave societies in the Atlantic world. This molded Brazilian ways of life including jobs, transportation, economic concerns, political factors and culture in many ways. The modernize approach of religion and traditions of the old African culture now converted into an Afro Brazilian culture that still has an impact and exists today which is also still celebrated in Brazil. I believe that without slavery, many of the importance of both sides of society selling slaves and buying slaves would not have shaped humanity in the modern world. Two centuries had seen African and European cultural religious and linguistic habits merging into unique Afro Brazilian social and religious customs, music, and storytelling (Nellis 62). The cultural influence of Afro Brazilians has persistently grew from celebrations like carnaval into a mainstream popular culture. Brazil holds a variety of different ideas, culture and people. The most common romantic relationship includes the sexual dating relationship, the domestic partnership, and the marriage. The adults or partners involved in these relationships inevitably reach a point of conflict and how they react to the conflict can show whether the partners are a securely, avoidant, or anxious attached person. The securely attached adults usually have a positive view when dealing with relationship issues. Whereas, an avoidant attached adults are more hesitant and distance themselves from their partner. Adults who tend to be more emotional, jealous, and possessive and demand closeness have an anxious attachment. People should strive for the secure attachment style for the best satisfaction level, commitment level, and ability to adapt to change in their romantic relationship, that is what most of the adults have and most want their partner to be the same. Many theorist noticed that there tended to be a pattern with the attachment styles that people have as adults to what attachment style they had as children. John Bowlbydesigned the Attachment Theoryto explain the bond between a child and people serving in the caregiver role (Feldman, 2011). • 20. Plato s Influence on the Western Civilization Plato and His Relation to Western Civilization Plato is one of the succinct psychologists, analyst, and scholar the world has ever had. He is a lucrative figure in the birth, generation, and early development of the western civilization. His contributions through ethics, politics, religion, symposiums, and dialogues with Socrates exemplify a myriad of his works since he was a young scholar. He participated in a number of events, theoretical appearances, and analysis, and posting of theories and precepts, which gave birth to the present knowledge in psychology, religion, and other disciplines of study in the world. It is with immediate agreement that Plato had a lot of influence on the western civilization. Plato had an extensive relation to western civilization (Mason, 2010). Plato is seen as an important figure in western civilization in many ways. For instance, early Christianity is a product of Plato s activities and contributions. Plato liked to analyze and give connotations, which backed and uplifted the various degrees and agreements as regards religion in the world. The present sense of western spirituality is just but a making of Plato characteristics. Concerning the western religion, Plato had little influence and use of body in religion. This is depicted by the present western civilization in which much of the activities involve spirituality and not the real physical body. Aristotle Body Amanda Lynch Ancient Philosophy Dr. Patrick Messina 29 April 2016 Final Examination Aristotle s definition of the soul is the substance in the sense which corresponds to the definitive formula of a thing s essence. Aristotle thought that the soul is the Form of the body. The soulis basically all of the operations of a human being. Aristotle believed that there are levels of living things. He stated that plants only have a vegetative soul, animals are above plants because they have senses and appetites, and humans are above animals because it has the power of reasoning and knowledge us. To obtain this, it is important to have a soul. The next level is sensation. Because of this quality, the feelings of pain and pleasure arises. Aristotle says that animals have this quality. For a soul to have sensations, vegetation must be there as well. In other words, if sensation is a characteristic of the soul, its vegetative ability is added as well. The next capacity that can be developed is appetite, which is very much related to sensation. After the soul is able to feel, there is a rush of desires. Some desires go along with what we physically need like thirst and hunger and other desires that we do not need like emotions like anger. The next step is motion, which is movement from place to place and rest. As said before, in order to have this ability, it is essential to have the previous ones, building up on the soul. For motion to be possible, appetite, sensation and vegetation must also be there. The last level is understanding; which Aristotle thinks is the most unusual. This involves reasoning using thought and intelligence. In this category, humans would most likely be found even though Aristotle states that some people are guided only by imagination and not intelligence. I Stand Here Ironing In the story, I Stand Here Ironing , written by Tillie Olsen, the iron symbolizes the role of poverty and loneliness in the mother s life., hence the title. The iron itself represents the mother s current circumstances; poverty, loneliness, and other misfortunes whereas the actual motion of ironing represents the mother s train of thought. The very first thing the narrator says is, I stand here ironing, and what you asked me moves tormented back and forth with the iron, (Olsen 292). This establishes that the iron is more than a chunk of metal that makes clothes look neat. Poverty and loneliness do not directly represent the iron, but the iron represents what the mother is thinking and talking about. Poverty and loneliness play a role in the life of the narrator and as a result, she ponders about it and how it has affected her and her daughter. 1 was nineteen. Not only is she financially struggling, for I worked or looked for work and for Emily s father, who could no longer endure (he wrote in his good bye note) sharing want with us. , her husband abandoned her because of her financial situation (292). What else is more tormenting than thinking about how much of a financial hell hole one is in and that the only partner they can depend on has given up all hope? Her thoughts and feelings are linked to the iron and the iron is linked to poverty and loneliness. As she moves the iron back and forth, so are her thoughts. The thoughts are tormenting, And when is there time to remember, to sift, to weigh, to estimate, to total? I will start and there will be an interruption and I will have to gather it all together again. Because of a lack of water during this time, dead plant matter littered across the forest floor start to shrivel up, until they re practically begging to be lit on fire. During this season, a single ember can ignite a wildfire capable of searing through hundreds of acres of forest. Just like this powerful, heat ridden ember, a single act of cruelty can ignite even worse, more pitiless acts. He is much heavier than the other boys, which is one of the factors that sets him apart. He is never even given a chance to introduce himself; he is just given a nickname that exploits his weight. After this, Piggy never even tries to properly introduce himself. He knows that whatever name he gives will be rejected by the boys who view themselves as superior to him. Those who are isolated are also commonly made victims of. Once his tribe abandons him, Ralph is warned by Samneric about Roger and Jack. Eric says They hate you, Ralph. They re going to do you. As nationally acclaimed author Fawn Weaver suggests, a successful marriage is based on the mutual infatuation within a couple, as well with the longevity of newly found love that is found in the premature ages of a relationship. Although it may not always be the most easy thing to do at all times, a healthy marriage should consist of the ceaseless admiration of the two through smooth as in rough. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Rasheed s case this is most likely because he lives in a very patriarchal society in which males make all the rules. As a matter of fact once the taliban came into power, one of their rules was that women will stay inside their homes at all times and that if a woman should go outside the home they should be accompanied by a male relative. (278). Obviously a society in which women are not even allowed to go outside without a male relative, increases the amount of power that men have exponentially. Although American culture during the 1990s did not have such strict laws against women at the time, many occupations were filled by male personnel. As a matter of fact, just over 30 million women were working in the 1990s, compared to the 55 million men at the time. (Census). Even though America was not nearly as male dominated as Afghanistan during the Taliban era, it was still very patriarchal. This is a very probably cause to the reason why seven out of ten domestic disputes are male against female. (Campbell). Khaled shows through his novel that it is almost always the male that is doing the abusing in their Afghan society at the time. Britain And The British Empire As the British Empire developed into one of the largest in the world, the purpose of the empire was questioned and how the empire would affect Britain created tension within Britain. Throughout the eighteenth century, the British focused their efforts on a commercial and maritime empire that would carry their values of liberty, equality and rule of law with it. The accounts detail aspects of the first empire with the mentality and the treatment that the men have regarding their ideas of Britain and her empire. Ideas that would be challenged by the American Revolution and the Americans claim against the British, such as repressive and calling the king a tyrant. This forced the British to adapt the image of themselves and how they dealt with their empire. In order to understand the changing times that the accounts are documenting, first the men need to be placed into the society in which they lived. This will be accomplished through the development of the empire s ideology and forming of the British identity, and then by looking at the British state building and forms of nationalism with an emphasis on class and gender within the nation. This will be followed with the British perspective of the empire and concluded by discussion the mobility caused by the empire that is demonstrated from the travel accounts. This is an issue that many sociologists choose to analyze because of its relation to organizations and groups. In country music there is a strong Christian presence and although it didn t occur considerably in the songs I analyzed, it tends to be the only religion associated with country music. Religion Plays a key role in developing people s ideas about right and wrong (2015; 75). This sole reason can be a major influence in many country lyrics, as well as the culture of country music. The question I can now answer is how does country music play a role into the fears and dreams of the listeners. In the lyrics there is a certain kind of language that the artists use to try and capture an image in the listener s head. In society, Language gives mean to the people, objects, events, and the ideas of our lives. If fact, language reflects and often determines reality (2015; 30). The reality is that the language in these songs gives to the listener can give them a dream of finding true love. The language gives hope to the listener that there is that one person they will love out there, but this also plays into the fear of heartbreak. Heartbreak was also discussed a great amount and is something that most people tend to fear. Another way that these songs play towards people s fears and dreams is through social class and money. While social class is one of the most common issues, the lyrics and videos manage to give followers the images of how a luxurious lifestyle can lead to happiness and love. When people let him down, the sting of rejection hurts a lot less because he has already expected everybody to be phony or more specifically, a vain, status obsessed suck up. By calling everybody a phony, Holden creates a safety net and justifies the way others treat him; this is his self fulfilling prophecy. Holden s constant decree of phoniness also unveils the purpose behind his journey in New York City: he is searching for authenticity and he finds that he can only locate it through the innocence of childhood.
