Genetic Determinism of Human Character Essay
Human character and behaviour are not only shaped by the genes that encompass the individual s
genotype. Human character comprising mainly of personality, sexuality, morality and intelligence are
the products of genetic determinism as well as external environmental factors. Single genes can have
surprisingly strong influences on particular aspects of behaviour. (Frank., 2009)
Genes build the phenotype of humans as well as the underlying genotype. Competition between
cultural genes leads to varied success of genetic determinism. It can therefore be said that learnt traits
such as those espoused within a specific culture, can produce what may seem to be the genetic
genotype of an individual. Genes are not always advantageous in the ... Show more content on

This being said, there is not a specific gene for a specific trait. Traits are inherited although without
the environmental influence they are not expressed in an individual s phenotype.
Contrariwise, you can find genes under a microscope. They exist in nature. The same cannot be said of
either personality or intelligence. Behaviour, therefore, depends on the interaction of multiple gene
sequences with environmental influences. It has been found that 30 70% of one s personality traits are
genetic and the rest are environmental. (Gil, 2010) Genes are found in the DNA of a human and genes
are expressed through phenotypes (The set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting
from the interaction of its genotype with the environment (Google, 2014)). Each person has a human
genome sequence and the gene segments within ones genome have certain effects on the body. Gene
segments contain hereditary information and therefore certain genes can be and associated with
particular behavioural traits.
Genes and the environment influence behaviour, as there is constantly an interaction between the two.
Genes, via their influences on morphology and physiology, create a framework within which the
environment acts to shape the behaviour of an individual. The environment can affect morphological
and physiological development; therefore behaviour develops as a result of ones interactions with the
environment. Genes create the scaffold for

A Pension Policy For The Province Of Ontario
A pension policy for the province of Ontario is being discussed, in an attempt to make it more
effective or being readily available. The existing issue is how it functions in low interests rates and
low returns in equity markets. Also, the low participation in such plans is failing the system as a
whole. It is important the government to protect workers in the private sector; as it is noted one third
of the paid workforce in 2005 was in a registered pension plan. Canada lacks when it comes to
voluntary employer sponsored pension plans and tax assisted programs, like the TFSA, who must
improve their services. The current pension plan fails to accommodate for private sector workers that
are provided with no other occupation related pension program other than the CPP. Many of the
solvency funding rules are still adopted from the Ontario Pension Benefits Act in 1966. The voluntary
participation system has failed in Canada. The government must change into a compulsory
contribution system for it to achieve the sufficient accumulation of assets. It is of concern that nearly
two thirds of private sector DB pensions plans operated either closed or frozen plans . All pension
plans should be based on individual circumstances, but currently the system lacks in regulating. The
other main issue is low household saving rates that are misbalancing pension funds reserves. Many
politicians are focusing on the type of pension scheme to use, instead of finding a way to increase the

Slang Rehearsal
Out with the old in with the new , Today s generation slang continuously changes depending on a new
trend. I feel as if some words and phrases are praised for the wrong reaosn. In 2015 some words
should be retired because they are degrading, outdated, and highly unpleasant. The new slang the
twenty first century uses today are very degrading and highly disrespectful. The slang people uses
today are used to bring people down. For instances, thot , tricking , or contraire used to disrespect an
individual. The slang bossy should be banned because the word is inglorious and stop women having
confidence forcing authority. In The SPIN Interview: Kelis Talks Milkshake, Feminism, and
Inspirational Love , rapper Kelis thinks bossy is just a word that have no meaning; Deborah Tannen
thinks differently. Deborah Tannen is a professor of linguistics at Georgetown University Tannen
wrote an article in America Now Short Readings From Recent Periodicals explaining, In short, women

Causes And Consequences Of Globalization
Globalization has become one of the most significant phenomena in current society. Globalization was
defined by different sentences and theories in books, magazines and journals. However, it is difficult
to define its intrinsic meaning in the real world. Different countries were affected dramatically by the
process of globalization in diverse aspects such as economic aspect and cultural aspect. In addition,
developed countries and developing countries may have diverse attitudes towards globalization based
on their profits and costs. This essay will point out main reasons and consequences of globalization,
and will state different opinions about globalization. At the end, statements and personal views of the
sustainability of globalization will be demonstrated as well. Dicken (2015) clarified that connectivity
was the core characteristic of globalization and information and goods interconnection between
countries also induced the process of globalization. It was confirmed that technology development
was one of the primary foundations of globalization. As Langhorne (2001) considered, the
development of technology had three stages since the world s Industrial Revolution. The first stage
started after the invention of steam engine, and then steam machines were widely used in
transportation industries, which made the communication between nations become quicker and safer.
In the second stage, the development of military force including rocket and satellite equipment played

One problem with cellular operations is lowered machine utilisation and increased capital.
Moreover to ensure supervisors to perform in this process also.
4. What is Dore Dore motivation for converting to Cells?
The various reasons which motivated Dore Dore to convert to cells are as follows:
* Improved quality of the products due to reduced defects * Designs can be easily adapted to market
trends due to decrease throughput time.
Example: The average sewing throughput time of a garment dropped from 15 working days to 1
working day by converting sewing department setup from traditional to cellular. * Results in low
inventory and in turn low cost of inventory management freeing idle capital. * Workers in cellular
operations are more flexible due to cross training. * Wait time between each operation is reduced. *
Can plan for more than two annual collections * Stocks can be supplied to wholesalers on a daily basis

At Home with Homeschooling
There is nothing a parent would refuse for their own child. Parents go to great lengths to make sure
that their children are well cared for. The quality of education that children receive is among one of
the greatest concerns for parents. Parents will do just about anything to make sure their children have
the best education they can receive, even if this means that they choose a path of home schooling.
Although to some home schooling might sound daunting and outdated, but when one faces up with the
facts of home education it is clear that, when administered properly, it provides an environment where
children can learn at their own pace, develop a healthy social life, and receive a well rounded
education.
Education has been a heated debate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, how is it possible for a teacher to devote attention to finding students with learning
disabilities?
Home schooling is a positive alternative to the public classroom setting. It allows parents, the ones
who know their child more than anyone else, time to gauge how their child behaves and responds to
different learning practices. If a child is determined to have learning disability, curriculum can be
altered to accommodate this challenge. If a child struggles in a particular subject, extra time can be
taken to make sure the child understand what he is learning and grasps the specific subject content.
Along with a flexible and unique learning environment, children can also feel safe and at ease while
learning from home. This is even more important for those children who suffer from learning
disabilities. Students who struggle with learning are very prone to classmate bullying and teasing. The
amount of bullying in the public classroom setting is rapidly increasing and with today s technology, it
does not stop there. Cyber bullying from classmates is becoming a growing concern. According to
Bullying Statistics, This type of bullying has gotten immense media attention over the past few years
sighting instances of cyber bullying pushed too far, and in many cases leading to cases of teen suicide
or death (Bullying Statistics).
A guided social life significantly lowers the risk of bullying for home schooled students. On the

Charles Mingus Essay
Eddie K.
Jazz 219
Charles Mingus Charles Mingus is a very important and influential name in jazz; however he is left
out by many historians when talking about the history of jazz. The main reason he is left out by so
many historians, Mark Gridley in particular, is because of his attitude and ego. He is clearly not the
most pleasant person, and he surely does not display how a real jazz musician should act, at least
according to most historians. The way he acts during performances can be quite startling at first, if you
are not familiar with his ways and methods of playing. For example, he was known for using profanity
during performances, either geared at the audience if they were being too loud or the sound operators

Another chapter I would also include him in would be Chapter 5, How Swing Differs from Early Jazz
. I would include Mingus in this chapter as well because it talks so much of his most influential Jazz
artist, and at one point fellow band mate, Duke Ellington. I feel like Mingus truly does have enough
variance in his music to help point out and draw the fine line between early jazz and the newer swing
jazz. The main differences between these two categories of jazz are that in early jazz, you were a lot
less likely to have the big band feel to the music, and soloist played a more important role in early
jazz, whereas in the swing era, you were introduced to more of a variety of instruments as well as new
techniques on how to play them. Mingus puts out good examples and songs/performances that clearly
display how things transitioned from early Jazz to swing, and then onto other evolutions of jazz as
well. After learning and hearing many of Charles Mingus s music, I definitely feel it is unfair for any
historian to leave him out of an in depth jazz history book. I hope jazz book writers to come take note
of Mingus s accomplishments, and start to include him in the history books right up there with Duke
Ellington, Miles Davis, and Louis Armstrong. It is only fair to him and his fellow band mates,
however, only time will

Community structure are species interacting within the communities and create food chains. Evolution
brings change in relationships as species adapt to one another through the coevolution process. The
elements of an biotic community is the pyramid structure which is made up of levels. The food chain
passes food energy from one level to another and this energy is chemical or photosynthesis. The
pyramid base has the producers and take this energy to produce organic organisms from the inorganic
ones. The consumers depend on these producers indirectly or directly. The base pyramid level is
different from one community to another. A terrestrial community plants that are multicellular make

plants that are multicellular. Freshwater streams does not have living plants but detritus for an energy
base and plankton builds the oceans.

Protestant Ethic And The Spirit Of Capitalism Analysis
The word capitalism can be defined in our modern society as large businesses and factories that
control their rate of production and the way that profits are distributed throughout employees of the
company. Being in control means that a company has the ability to know at all times where its money
is and what said money is being used for. By doing this, they can earn as much money as possible.
However, capitalism was not always centered around businesses and factories. In fact, the concept
itself dates back to the Protestant Reformation in the 16th and 17th centuries. In The Protestant Ethic
and the Spirit of Capitalism, author Max Weber discusses the origins of capitalism as we know it
today. He argues that modern, 21st century capitalism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Theme of Carpe Diem in Francis Macomber and Capital Of The World
The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber and The Capital Of The World A lot of Hemingway s
stories deal with life and death. Death even found it s way into some of the titles we have read so far.
However, in discussing death, we first have to look at life or rather how a life was lived, to truly
understand what death meant in the particular instance. Both short stories, The Short Happy Life of
Francis Macomber, and The Capital Of The World deal with lives cut short by a chance and accidental
encounter with death, while the soon to be deceased seem to gamble and court death. Both also seem
to have secondary characters that serve as guides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Robert Wilson is constantly reminding Macomber of how things work. He says things like We all take
a beating every day, you know, one way or another (7) or when Wilson quotes Shakespeare and says
...a man can die but once; we owe God a death and let it go which way it will, he that dies this year is
quit for the next (25). Wilson is here serving as a teacher of sorts for both Macomber and for the
reader. Similarly, in The Capital Of The World, Enrique says, You think of the bull but you do not
think of the horns. The bull has such force that the horns rip like a knife, they stab like a bayonet, and
they kill like a club (35). Enrique is spilling much the same speech that Wilson is. He is telling Paco
that life and the world come at your hard and they come for you. Both Enrique and Wilson are serving
as Hemingway s voice as he talks to each respective character and the reader about death.
So far the stories have seemed similar in theme, if and even in execution. However, the one defining
event in each story is what serves as the marker that separates Francis from Paco; one who actually
lives from one who doesn t even get the chance too.
As put in the title, Macomber s happy life is short lived. After the buffalo hunt, Macomber states, You
know I don t think I d ever be afraid of anything again...Like a damn bursting. It was pure excitement
(25). We can already see a change in Macomber. He went from a coward at the start of the

Operant Conditioning Punishment
Classical conditioning can be explained through humans best kept secret; urinating in the shower.
Though many deny, the sound of running water typically elicits the natural response to urinate. After
awhile, it is common to become conditioned to associate a shower (without the water on) with the
urge to urinate. Thus, classical conditioning is a learned association between a stimulus (any sight,
smell, sound, taste, or touch (like the sound of running water)), and a neutral stimulus (like the
shower) that triggers the same response (the urge to urinate). Even before Ivan Pavlov began
experimenting with dogs, their normal physiological response was to salivate when they saw food. An
unconditioned stimulus is something that occurs naturally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reinforcement and punishment are the two main types of consequences and there are positives and
negatives to both. A relevant real world example is CSUSM s goal of having high ranking students.
Reinforcement tries to increase the tendency that the goal behavior, high ranking students, will occur
again. In a positive reinforcement something is being added. In this scenario, students who follow the
rules and maintain a high GPA will be rewarded with scholarships. In a negative reinforcement
something is being taken away to increase the tendency that the goal behavior will occur again. Until
professors are confident that students are engaged in the material, they will continue to randomly call
on students to answer questions. The act of participating takes away the anticipation of being called
out, and would enforce the goal behavior of good grades. On the other hand, punishment will decrease
a tendency that a behavior will occur again. CSUSM is going to punish failing grades. A positive
punishment means something is being added. If students do not attend class or do not do the
assignments a failing grade will be added to their transcripts. In a negative punishment something is
being taken away. If students do not maintain their GPA their grants, scholarships, and even their
admittance can be

Wainwright Building
The relationship between form and function had always been the core of Sullivan s career. In his point
of view, anything, whether it is organic or inorganic, could be deemed as the representation of its
content and function, and every particular function has developed its own form. Sullivan explain this
idea by illustrating oak tree in his Kindergarten Charts, he wrote, generally speaking outer
appearances resemble inner purposes. For instances, the form, oak tree, resembles and expresses the
function or purpose, oak (Sullivan, Kindergarten chats). In here, form could be understood as
phenomenon of things, but not just the appearance. In his article, The Tall Office Building Artistically
Considered, published in 1986, Louis Sullivan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, actually, what Sullivan really cares about is the form. Otherwise, he would not have this much
thoughts about the relationship between form and function. Sullivan always gives high priority to
architectural form, especially its ornament, but with a kind of ambivalence in his mind. On the one
hand, he believes that architecture could be great without any decoration or ornament. On the other
hand, thoughtful designed ornament is also indispensable to architecture. Finally, he gave the answer,
he thinks particular ornament should be applied on the particular kinds of architecture, just like
different trees have various types of leaves. So, architectural form is not influenced by the extrinsic
factor, but the growth of itself. Now it is understandable why Wainwright Building got such a
luxuriant ornament on its top. Under the eave, the surface between windows are extended, and
sophisticated spiraled leaves surrounds the circular windows. It is just the metaphor of the organic

The Importance Of Ghost In The White House
Is there really ghost in the White House? We will never know, but after all of the research we have
done, first ladies have said they have seen ghosts in the White House. This is a really important
subject to study because if there is really ghost in the White House that would be kind of creepy.
Especially if you were the president living in the White House at the time and you saw old presidents
in the White House. For example, the most popular ghost in the White House was Abe Lincoln and he
was found in the oval office room. I believe that there are ghosts in the White House. And I would not
want to live in the White House. The reasons why I believe there is, is because some presidents died in
the White House, the White House burnt down and they believe that in a picture of the white house
burnt down that there was a guy holding a torch and it was really clear so it did look like a ghost and
my last reason why I believe that there are ghost in the White House is because after all of the research
we have done people have said that lots of people have witnessed different ghosts. A lot of people
have witnessed these ghost in the White House. The first lady that first saw the ghost was Grace
Coolidge. , Other presidents such as Theodore Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover, and Dwight Eisenhower
saw president Abe Lincoln in the white house a couple times. (White House ghosts stories) They have

Theories of Karl Marx
INTRODUCTION
Karl Marx, also a philosopher was popularly known for his theories that best explained society, its
social structure, as well as the social relationships. Karl Marx placed so much emphasis on the
economic structure and how it influenced the rest of the social structure from a materialistic point of
view. Human societies progress through a dialectic of class struggle, this means that the three aspects
that make up the dialectic come into play, which are the thesis, antithesis and the synthesis (Avineri,
1980: 66 69). As a result of these, Marx suggests that in order for change to come about, a class
struggle has to first take place. That is, the struggle between the proletariat and the capitalist class, the

During the industrialisation era, the factories were now in desperate need of a minimally educated
workforce as a result, mandatory and free educational systems were put into place. This is clear
example that shows that the economy was indeed the base for all other structures in the society. The
relations of production shapes the superstructure as it consists of the bourgeoisie exploiting the

An Exploration Of An Apparel Manufacturer Sme Brand
I. Working Title:
An exploration of the tangible and intangible building blocks of branding in relation to an apparel
manufacturer SME brand in the U.S.
II. Context and Rationale Evidence of Preliminary Review of Literature
In the context of small to medium enterprises, statistics show that about half of new businesses fail
within five years (Anderson 2014). The reasons for why new businesses fail have been a number of
reasons. Some of them are due to high interest rates, taxes, and lack of bank lending (Anderson 2014).
In the UK sector, it has been noted that the chances of a new business from flourishing is even harder
than before the financial crisis (Anderson 2014). With the countless amount of reasons for why SMEs

Although there has been branding research that was presented by Aaker and Keller, many SMEs, in
the apparel manufacturer brand segment, are not aware of these principles.
There are two ways in which brands can represent themselves. They are manufacturer brand or own
brand. Manufacturer brand is based upon the idea that a manufacturer of a product sells the product
under it s own name. Own label brand is when the private label brand is not the producer of the
product, but is bought from a manufacturer and sold by the brand at a cheaper price. In terms of
manufacturer brands in SME brand strategy, there is much competition with own brand labels in terms
of market share (Oubinam Rubio, and Yague 2006). With the competition of own brand label and
corporate companies taking market share, there is much fascinating research to be done on brand
equity of a company in the SME s perspective.
Justification of Study
Gap and area in need of further research
There has been little research on brand equity in SME apparel brands. It is easier to research brand
strategy on a corporate company that is already successful, and so little knowledge is added on
emerging companies or SMEs who are struggling to stay competitive in the fashion apparel industry.
This research would add knowledge to the best SME s brand strategy in the young women s
contemporary market. The value of corporate branding

History of Calculus Essay
History of Calculus
The history of calculus falls into several distinct time periods, most notably the ancient, medieval, and
modern periods. The ancient period introduced some of the ideas of integral calculus, but does not
seem to have developed these ideas in a rigorous or systematic way. Calculating volumes and areas,
the basic function of integral calculus, can be traced back to the Egyptian Moscow papyrus (c. 1800
BC), in which an Egyptian successfully calculated the volume of a pyramidal frustum.[1][2] From the
school of Greek mathematics, Eudoxus (c. 408 #8722;355 BC) used the method of exhaustion, which
prefigures the concept of the limit, to calculate areas and volumes while Archimedes (c. 287
#8722;212 BC) developed this idea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Europe, the second half of the 17th century was a time of major innovation. Calculus provided a
new opportunity in mathematical physics to solve long standing problems. Several mathematicians
contributed to these breakthroughs, notably John Wallis and Isaac Barrow. James Gregory proved a
special case of the second fundamental theorem of calculus in AD 1668.
Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was originally accused of plagiarism of Sir Isaac Newton s unpublished

Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was originally accused of plagiarism of Sir Isaac Newton s unpublished
works, but is now regarded as an independent inventor and contributor towards calculus.
Leibniz and Newton pulled these ideas together into a coherent whole and they are usually credited
with the independent and nearly simultaneous invention of calculus. Newton was the first to apply
calculus to general physics and Leibniz developed much of the notation used in calculus today; he
often spent days determining appropriate symbols for concepts. The basic insight that both Newton
and Leibniz had was the fundamental theorem of calculus.

Real Estate And Its Effects On The Economy Essay
Real Estate Investing Real Estate has been a driving force in world economies since the days of
Babylon, one of the most fantastic developments the world has ever known, and the desire to create,
not destroy, is alive and well. As the world grows more populous and available land diminishes, the
opportunities that real estate development has to offer are vast and obtainable. As we descend from the
booming 90s and find ourselves burdened with the realities of our own self inflicted economic
implosion caused by greed and speculation, many investors find solace in the tangible world of real
estate. Moreover, the destructive effects of September the 11th are still disgorged down through our
economy, which is causing an ever increasing desire for a more concrete wealth building option not
offered by many paper investments. Many investors are still coping with the fall of such giants as
Enron and world to come, while others are looking for the stability that the real estate market offers,
and when you add all these ingredients to the grossly over priced US stock market, one find a more
appealing meal in the fascinating world of real estate. In this paper, I will go to talk about the 8 Tips

Factors Affecting Pacific Oysters
Introduction
Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome (POMS) is a disease which affects Pacific Oysters and it is caused
by a virus called OsHV 1 micro variant. It has been present in three estuary systems in NSW Georges
River, Parramatta River and the Hawkesbury River. A suspect case has also recently been detected in
involvement with mortalities of farmed Pacific Oysters in Tasmania. The first reported POMS
mortality outbreak in Australia was recorded in NSW in 2010. POMS affects Pacific Oysters only,
with no other oyster species at risk. This virus cannot be transmitted to humans and there are no
human health insinuations. Since the first detection of POMS in NSW, movement restrictions have
been in place on oysters and oyster products to reduce the risk of spread to other areas. It is not known
how the virus disease reached Australia. It is believed that this disease can be transported via boats,

many people say started the tensions, we placed Nukes at their doorstep, thusly Nikita Khrushchev,

This is good since with such a method there is a certain way to satisfy the customer already, hence
before another function is assigned to the design, the solution to the problem will be solved. In my
opinion, I think such a combination stifles good design, since most of the people involved in the
expertise aspect tend to just know about their jobs, hence they d approach such jobs without creativity
but just the solution.
Innovation (Spectacular Inventions)
The process of translating an idea or invention into a good or service that creates value or for which
customers will pay. This is synonymous to creativity, it s just that with this, bold steps are taken to try
the impossible and still make a difference. This may result in good design by using less. On the part of
innovativeness, empathy serves as a forward for innovativeness, as long as you think of others, you d
be on the right track to being innovative and solving the problems of society with good design, since
to some extent good design solves the problems of society.

Anthropomorphism In Literature
The use of anthropomorphism makes the characters of any book more believable for children.
Using anthropomorphism in children s literature brings in an element of discovery for the child. The
child is able to make connections in early childhood to animals with human traits as believable
characteristics. Anthropomorphism could be used as building blocks for older children. Literature
based upon more vivid and believable animal characters could cause the child to easily identify with
the character, while allowing their imagination to take them into the story.
Anthropomorphism is a healthy way for children to be introduced to difficult plots and emotional
characteristics that real human beings encounter. Although some interpretations of anthropomorphic
animal use in books are negative because the fear that animals in reality do not have human
characteristics, and thus confuse the child reader. Others offer the view that in order to fully
understand ourselves, anthropomorphism is the key to a child s development of imagination. Bringing
in the element of believable characters makes a story based upon the child s needs and creates a
lifelong love of books. (Bettelheim) discusses briefly the use of animals as characters but I would like
to expand on his idea and discuss the fantasy side that uses anthropomorphism. Bettleheim discusses
the ability for fantasy to connect with the child of today. In our technological focused society some

The Problem Of Homelessness And Homelessness Essay
There is an ever growing number of homeless persons within our society. While it has become a
popular topic of discussion as to why people become homeless little discussion has occurred about the
homeless reintegrating back into society. Many steps must be taken in order for a homeless person to
be able to create and maintain a steady life. There must be an acknowledgment of the barriers that led
to homelessness. These barriers may be a numerous amount of things such as substance abuse,
personal trauma, unhealthy relationships, health problems, or unemployment. No matter the barrier,
goals need to be set and must be realistic. If the goals seem impossible to reach they will be. Finally,
there must be a commitment to following through with the set goals and a realization that this is an
ongoing process that will not change overnight.
There is a misinformed stigma of homelessness, which is that all homeless persons are in their
situation because of substance abuse or this is at least, in part, why they are unable to overcome
homelessness, and that all homeless persons are unemployed. While mental illness and chronic
substance abuse are the most common disabilities within homeless communities (Schutt, 2009) they
are not the only factors as to why an individual may become homeless. As mentioned above, personal
traumas, health problems, unhealthy relationships and lack of employment can lead to homelessness.

Indian Reorganization Act Essay
The Indian Reorganization Act (IRA) of 1934, otherwise known as the Wheeler Howard Act or the
Indian New Deal, was a United States federal legislation that attempted to reverse traditional U.S
policy, which typically forced Indian assimilation into american culture and regularly took Indian
reservation land. It was a radical act in its time and was introduced into congress by John Collier, who
was head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). The IRA s main goal was to provide a means for
Native Americans to establish sovereignty and self government, reduce the amount of land loss by
reservations, and to build economic self sufficiencies for these tribes. The act also ended the Allotment
System and provided loans for Indians to pursue higher education and farm their lands. Whether or not
the act was considered a longstanding success is heavily debated, by historians and Native Americans
leaders alike. What we do know for sure is that IRA dramatically changed life for Native American
tribes, through economic, social, political, health, and educational means. Before the Indian

Light Bulb And Immanuel Kant Essay
What does a light bulb and Immanuel Kant have in common? They both have to do with light Kant
moreso with Enlightenment, the era where reason and logic took place of tradition and religion. In his
essay entitled What is Enlightenment? he drew a distinction of reason, splitting it into a binary of
public and private. How this philosophical view impacts humanity, as well as relates to my own
personal life, is ever more abundant as time goes on. One of the largest points Kant goes on to
emphasize, practically the heart of the essay, is the concept of public and private reason. He explains
that private reason is done, not so much out of free will, but, however, out of necessity. Someone
employed at Taco Bell uses private reasoning to fold burritos or to stuff tacos. In comparison, public
reasoning not only includes freedom, but exudes it. Kant, in reference to enlightenment, nothing is
required but freedom. Public reasoning refers to our ability, and right, as human beings to make our
opinions heard, regardless of the duties everyday life imposes. To continue with the Taco Bell

How to Treat a Stained Tooth Fissure
Introduction
The morphological configuration of the occlusal surface of the first permanent molar is the most
vulnerable and susceptible tooth surface to dental decay and the incidence of caries on these surfaces
is still rising. There are occasions where the fissures of these teeth are stained and at the time of
deciding the appropriate treatment the question arises whether we should or we should not treat them.
When there are dentists that think that seal over a stained fissure is the right treatment choice, there is
evidence suggested by others that a stained fissure should not be treated as a sound fissure.
There are teeth with questionable or suspicious occlusal surfaces, in which we can notice that there
have been changes from the clear sound fissures even without loss of surface and it is dubious to
decide whether or not it should be treated as it could be an incipient but not cavitated fissure. A stained
fissure means a fissure that is discoloured, brown or black, even an area of white or opaque enamel
where its normal translucidency is lost but it has no evidence of surface breakdown (cavitation).
Discoloured fissures does not necessary indicate an active caries process and they may represent
sounds surfaces (where the discolouration descends from organic material trapped in the fissure) or
non cavitated caries lesions (where the demineralised enamel has been stained and possibly arrested).
It is doubtful if a discoloured fissure expresses generally a viable

The Critique Of The Film Casablanca
The three time Academy Award winning film Casablanca is a 1942 American romantic drama film
directed by Michael Curtiz a well known director for his wonderful production. The film finished with
a rating of 8.5/10 on IMDb, 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and 100% Metacritic. Dispite the film being
made up of uncertainty and drama, it was completed on August 3rd 1942 and released in the United
States on January 23rd 1943. Before naming the film Casablanca it was named Everybody comes to
Ricks which was an unproduced film by Murray Burnett and Joan Alison. On the way to New York in
1941, story editor Irene Diamond found the unproduced play and convinced producer Hal Wallis to
buy the rights in January 1942 for $20,000. Wallis agreed to buy out the film ... Show more content on

They enjoyed the view of the nightclub that they went too that night and had to idea to make it into a
film as it was a great setting. Because they renamed the film, parts of the script had to be re written.
The first writers on the script were twin brothers who left the film for another opportunity in 1942 and
the other credited writer, Howard Koch was hired. He wrote around thirty to forty pages for the script
but as soon as the twin brothers returned, his work went to garbage and had the brothers re write the
script. Both writers, still worked writing for the film even though some work was not to be used. At
the end of the production, the brothers earned $30, 416 and Koch earned $4, 200. After shooting at
been completed, Wallis called Bogard into set for the final line he had written as he thought the ending
was not done properly. The line Wallis had written Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful
friendship, made the ending of the film have a lot more sense. In spite of having many writers, one
writer describes the script as a wonderfully unified and consistent script. The film ran into some
trouble with Joseph Breen of the Production Code Administration due to having sexual scenes and
vulgar language in the film. When they came across any sexual scenes or vulgar words, they would
remove it as quick as possible or change some parts

Folsom Powerhouse Accomplishments
Perched high above the shore of Lake Natoma, Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park displays the
work of men who were critical to the creation of electric power systems in use today. The
Powerhouse, with its original 1895 equipment, illustrates how power systems were constructed in the
late 19th century. It is the work of a General Electric (GE) Corporation team of many brilliant
individuals whose contributions were not always recognized in their lifetimes. Many attempts have
been made to describe the significance and stunning accomplishments of the Folsom Powerhouse. The
word first is commonly used. This claim is sometimes incorrectly applied and does not do justice to
the GE team that brought together all the advanced technology of the day to create a showcase
hydroelectric power facility. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1884, Judge Lorenzo Sawyer s ruling against the North Bloomfield Mining and Gravel Company
(for the full story, see Malakoff Diggings) ended hydraulic mining and created a base of unemployed
workers with journeyman skills in hydro engineering. Their experience with penstocks and monitor
nozzles was invaluable, and they were eager for work. As mine shafts replaced hydraulic mining, a
power source was needed to operate water pumps, air pumps, stamp mills, lighting, and other
machinery. Steam power plants required boilers, piping, the ongoing costs of coal or wood fuel, and a
significant workforce to run the operation. Even with the cost of building dams, hydroelectricity was a
less expensive option. One of the first recorded uses of hydroelectric power for mining in California
was the 1889 DC powerhouse for the Dalmatia mine in El Dorado County. Mine owners whose
facilities were distant from a water source were eager to try the new AC technology. Those that did
began achieving milestone transmission distances. Poly phase

  • 2. Genetic Determinism of Human Character Essay Human character and behaviour are not only shaped by the genes that encompass the individual s genotype. Human character comprising mainly of personality, sexuality, morality and intelligence are the products of genetic determinism as well as external environmental factors. Single genes can have surprisingly strong influences on particular aspects of behaviour. (Frank., 2009) Genes build the phenotype of humans as well as the underlying genotype. Competition between cultural genes leads to varied success of genetic determinism. It can therefore be said that learnt traits such as those espoused within a specific culture, can produce what may seem to be the genetic genotype of an individual. Genes are not always advantageous in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This being said, there is not a specific gene for a specific trait. Traits are inherited although without the environmental influence they are not expressed in an individual s phenotype. Contrariwise, you can find genes under a microscope. They exist in nature. The same cannot be said of either personality or intelligence. Behaviour, therefore, depends on the interaction of multiple gene sequences with environmental influences. It has been found that 30 70% of one s personality traits are genetic and the rest are environmental. (Gil, 2010) Genes are found in the DNA of a human and genes are expressed through phenotypes (The set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment (Google, 2014)). Each person has a human genome sequence and the gene segments within ones genome have certain effects on the body. Gene segments contain hereditary information and therefore certain genes can be and associated with particular behavioural traits. Genes and the environment influence behaviour, as there is constantly an interaction between the two. Genes, via their influences on morphology and physiology, create a framework within which the environment acts to shape the behaviour of an individual. The environment can affect morphological and physiological development; therefore behaviour develops as a result of ones interactions with the environment. Genes create the scaffold for ... • 3. A Pension Policy For The Province Of Ontario A pension policy for the province of Ontario is being discussed, in an attempt to make it more effective or being readily available. The existing issue is how it functions in low interests rates and low returns in equity markets. Also, the low participation in such plans is failing the system as a whole. It is important the government to protect workers in the private sector; as it is noted one third of the paid workforce in 2005 was in a registered pension plan. Canada lacks when it comes to voluntary employer sponsored pension plans and tax assisted programs, like the TFSA, who must improve their services. The current pension plan fails to accommodate for private sector workers that are provided with no other occupation related pension program other than the CPP. Many of the solvency funding rules are still adopted from the Ontario Pension Benefits Act in 1966. The voluntary participation system has failed in Canada. The government must change into a compulsory contribution system for it to achieve the sufficient accumulation of assets. It is of concern that nearly two thirds of private sector DB pensions plans operated either closed or frozen plans . All pension plans should be based on individual circumstances, but currently the system lacks in regulating. The other main issue is low household saving rates that are misbalancing pension funds reserves. Many politicians are focusing on the type of pension scheme to use, instead of finding a way to increase the level ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If a child is determined to have learning disability, curriculum can be altered to accommodate this challenge. Jazz 219 Charles Mingus Charles Mingus is a very important and influential name in jazz; however he is left out by many historians when talking about the history of jazz. The main reason he is left out by so many historians, Mark Gridley in particular, is because of his attitude and ego. He is clearly not the most pleasant person, and he surely does not display how a real jazz musician should act, at least according to most historians. Another chapter I would also include him in would be Chapter 5, How Swing Differs from Early Jazz . I would include Mingus in this chapter as well because it talks so much of his most influential Jazz artist, and at one point fellow band mate, Duke Ellington. I feel like Mingus truly does have enough variance in his music to help point out and draw the fine line between early jazz and the newer swing jazz. The main differences between these two categories of jazz are that in early jazz, you were a lot less likely to have the big band feel to the music, and soloist played a more important role in early jazz, whereas in the swing era, you were introduced to more of a variety of instruments as well as new techniques on how to play them. Mingus puts out good examples and songs/performances that clearly display how things transitioned from early Jazz to swing, and then onto other evolutions of jazz as well. After learning and hearing many of Charles Mingus s music, I definitely feel it is unfair for any historian to leave him out of an in depth jazz history book. I hope jazz book writers to come take note of Mingus s accomplishments, and start to include him in the history books right up there with Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, and Louis Armstrong. • 12. Protestant Ethic And The Spirit Of Capitalism Analysis The word capitalism can be defined in our modern society as large businesses and factories that control their rate of production and the way that profits are distributed throughout employees of the company. Being in control means that a company has the ability to know at all times where its money is and what said money is being used for. By doing this, they can earn as much money as possible. However, capitalism was not always centered around businesses and factories. In fact, the concept itself dates back to the Protestant Reformation in the 16th and 17th centuries. Death even found it s way into some of the titles we have read so far. However, in discussing death, we first have to look at life or rather how a life was lived, to truly understand what death meant in the particular instance. Wilson is here serving as a teacher of sorts for both Macomber and for the reader. Similarly, in The Capital Of The World, Enrique says, You think of the bull but you do not think of the horns. The bull has such force that the horns rip like a knife, they stab like a bayonet, and they kill like a club (35). Enrique is spilling much the same speech that Wilson is. Both Enrique and Wilson are serving as Hemingway s voice as he talks to each respective character and the reader about death. So far the stories have seemed similar in theme, if and even in execution. However, the one defining event in each story is what serves as the marker that separates Francis from Paco; one who actually lives from one who doesn t even get the chance too. Though many deny, the sound of running water typically elicits the natural response to urinate. After awhile, it is common to become conditioned to associate a shower (without the water on) with the urge to urinate. Thus, classical conditioning is a learned association between a stimulus (any sight, smell, sound, taste, or touch (like the sound of running water)), and a neutral stimulus (like the shower) that triggers the same response (the urge to urinate). Human societies progress through a dialectic of class struggle, this means that the three aspects that make up the dialectic come into play, which are the thesis, antithesis and the synthesis (Avineri, 1980: 66 69). The relations of production shapes the superstructure as it consists of the bourgeoisie exploiting the proletariat. The base of the superstructure shapes the superstructure (education, family, religion, mass media, politics etc.) and the superstructure itself legitimizes the base. Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was originally accused of plagiarism of Sir Isaac Newton s unpublished works, but is now regarded as an independent inventor and contributor towards calculus. Leibniz and Newton pulled these ideas together into a coherent whole and they are usually credited with the independent and nearly simultaneous invention of calculus. While it has become a popular topic of discussion as to why people become homeless little discussion has occurred about the homeless reintegrating back into society. It was a radical act in its time and was introduced into congress by John Collier, who was head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). The IRA s main goal was to provide a means for Native Americans to establish sovereignty and self government, reduce the amount of land loss by reservations, and to build economic self sufficiencies for these tribes. The act also ended the Allotment System and provided loans for Indians to pursue higher education and farm their lands. Whether or not the act was considered a longstanding success is heavily debated, by historians and Native Americans leaders alike. How to Treat a Stained Tooth Fissure Introduction The morphological configuration of the occlusal surface of the first permanent molar is the most vulnerable and susceptible tooth surface to dental decay and the incidence of caries on these surfaces is still rising. There are occasions where the fissures of these teeth are stained and at the time of deciding the appropriate treatment the question arises whether we should or we should not treat them. When there are dentists that think that seal over a stained fissure is the right treatment choice, there is evidence suggested by others that a stained fissure should not be treated as a sound fissure. There are teeth with questionable or suspicious occlusal surfaces, in which we can notice that there have been changes from the clear sound fissures even without loss of surface and it is dubious to decide whether or not it should be treated as it could be an incipient but not cavitated fissure. A stained fissure means a fissure that is discoloured, brown or black, even an area of white or opaque enamel where its normal translucidency is lost but it has no evidence of surface breakdown (cavitation). Discoloured fissures does not necessary indicate an active caries process and they may represent sounds surfaces (where the discolouration descends from organic material trapped in the fissure) or non cavitated caries lesions (where the demineralised enamel has been stained and possibly arrested).
