Essay On Polarizing
Democratic or Republican, the mention of these two words during a normal election brings the word
Polarizing to mind. Notably, both Hillary Rodham Clinton and Donald J Trump are polarizing figures
to the opposing party and within their respective parties. The United States Constitution only gives
three requirements for the office of president; that leaves the vetting and comparison of the
presidential candidates up to the people of the United States. For citizens that care about their vote
even when the candidates are not their primary choices the best option is to keep to the basics; to
avoid getting bogged down in the politics keep the examination simple and on the personal candidate.

The aim of this report is to provide the company with a feasibility report for the proposal expansion.
The proposed expansion will require the company to have access to muesli, machinery and labour in
Japan in order to produce health foods, muesli bars and other confectionary products. This report will
analyse the political, economic, socio cultural, technological and legal environments (PESTL) that
exists in Japan, which will then be recommended to Carmen Fine Foods whether to expand their
business into Japan. The proposed expansion strategy is by exporting required resources from
Australia to Brazil, because they do not have the experience in working overseas.

The founders of Carmolex believe that it is time to give the pharmaceutical industry a more effective
compound library to aid in the development or marketing of new prescription drugs. Redefining Drug
Discovery
Carmolex is a toolbox for drug discovery. There are 150+ million molecules in our library that drug
developers while synthesizing drugs to assess the viability of a specific receptor and molecule.
Carmolex is the world s largest molecular library.
The Carmolex library is virtual drug discovery. Instead of needing large quantities of molecules for
drug testing, drug developers can virtually test billions of potential molecules to see if they work with
receptors, before even synthesizing the drug. The Carmolex compound library streamlines the drug
development process.
Not only does Carmolex streamline the drug development process, it also expands it. Most drug
discovery efforts only sample a tiny portion of chemical space. Our software and databases make it
possible to virtually design and screen a much larger and more diverse chemical space.
By expanding the chemical space and overcoming the traditional multi step chemical synthesis
process, our disruptive solutions increase the likelihood of successfully delivering molecules for
testing by 80%. Carmolex s fast and inexpensive approach overcomes the limitations of today s

Daodejing Contradictions
The Daodejing is a collection of chapters from ancient China. The chapters explain why things happen
the way they do. In order to understand everything that exists and the way it exits, the Daoists explain
dao which means the way. The way helps people to find their way to excellence during a time of
turmoil and strife. Life as it is known is uncertain and unclear. Daodejing uses a non logical approach
to explain the uncertainties in life. The authors of this ancient text use contradictions to prove their
points because logic cannot always be used as a guide. Contradictions help to find balance and teach
people to live in a world without having a full understanding of things. According to chapter 15, it was
stated that those who prize way making

The Pros And Cons Of The Human Genome Project
In this essay I am going to be talking about what the Human Genome Project is and how it has
benefited society.
(3)The Human Genome project focuses on identifying, sequencing and mapping all genes in the
human body. Also to develop faster methods for sequencing DNA. It is an international research
project that celebrated its 27th anniversary on 1 October 2017. In comparison, the Human Genome
Project can be compared to the Apollo project which brought humanity to the moon.
(3)The idea of the Human Genome Project came from an undergraduate researcher for the Thomas
Hunt Morgan lab called Alfred Sturtevant, who, in 1911, had to map the genes of fruit flies so that he
could manage his data. This would then mean that the Morgan lab can track the results through
generations of scientists because they would have his results which they could compare future
experiments to. This would then lead to the results being more accurate as they would have a set of
results to relate to once they have completed the experiments. Therefore, this would mean that it
would make their results would be more reliable.
(3)The Human Genome Project has revealed that there are around 20, 500 genes in the human body.
Because of this, the whole sequence of genes in the human body can be used to identify the locations
of other genes in the human body. This would lead to scientists having a better understanding of how
many genes are in the human body. Therefore it would suggest that the sequence of genes

Emerald Coast Research Paper
The name Emerald Coast sounds like a place from a fairytale, but the truth is, it is far better than any

The Pupil By Henry James
In the excerpt from The Pupil by Henry James, three very different characters find themselves
intertwined because they all need something from each other. Through the eyes of an introverted and
timid young man, James explains the intricate relationship between an old, aristocratic women, an
eleven year old boy who needs help, and our main character who is in desperate need of money.
Through elegant diction and advanced grammar, the author creates a prestigious and elite tone The
third person point of view gives us insight on the internal conflict and also reveals a lot to the reader
about the kind of person Pemberton is. A monetary man that isn t in the job for the right reasons. His
lack of confidence begins to surface as he describes himself as unpleasant and questions his scholastic
ability to tutor a pupil, when he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our timid young man later evolves into Pemberton as we learn more about him, and the fat rich lady is
referred to as Mrs. Moreen . James explains the name of the title as Pemberton worries frantically
about the eleven year old boy who becomes The pupil . In doing this, he juxtaposes an outsider
perspective of the characters with specific names to slowly make the poem personable as it progresses.
As more information is disclosed, the more connected we become to the characters allowing us to
understand their emotions and motives behind their actions. For example, we learn that Pemberton
only accepts this job because he needs the money. If he didn t need the money it s implied that he most
likely wouldn t take the job due to his lack of belief in his own skills. The tone of the poem fluxuates
between formal and informal to explain what they all desire. James achieves this by using intelligent
diction complemented with a simplistic undertone, by doing this he creates an opportunity to
implement essential information to understand the

Solar cells, or photovoltaic cells, transform light, usually sunlight, into electric current. Few power
generation technologies are as clean as photovoltaics (PV). Photovoltaic comes from the words photo
meaning light and volt, a measurement of electricity. Sometimes photovoltaic cells are called PV cells
or solar cells for short. As it silently generates electricity, PV produces no air pollution or hazardous
waste. It doesn t require liquid or gaseous fuels to be transported or combusted as sunlight is free and
abundant. Because PV systems burn no fuel and have no moving parts, they are clean and silent,
producing no atmospheric emissions or greenhouse gases to cause detrimental effects on our water,
air, and soil. Compared with electricity generated from fossil fuels, each PV produced kilowatt
eliminates up to 830 pounds of nitrogen oxides, 1,500 pounds of sulfur dioxide, and 217,000 pounds

A Comparison of The Scarlet Letter and The House of the...
A Comparison of The Scarlet Letter and The House of the Seven Gables
Nathaniel Hawthorne, one of America s most renowned authors, demonstrates his extraordinary
talents in two of his most famed novels, The Scarlet Letter and The House of the Seven Gables. To
compare these two books seems bizarre, as their plots are distinctly different. Though the books are
quite seemingly different, the central themes and Hawthorne s style are closely related (Carey, p. 62).
American novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne is most famous for his books THE SCARLET LETTER and
THE HOUSE OF THE SEVEN GABLES, which are closely related in theme, the use of symbolism,
characterization, and style.

Phoebe is considered to be the heart which warms the house, while Holgrave is the intellectual head.
When Phoebe and Holgrave fall in love, heart and head are brought together to form a union that may
end the curse forever (Sheldon, p. 16).
The obvious and most prevalent theme in both books is the effect of sin. In The Scarlet Letter, Hester
Prynne s sin was an understandably human one which arose from desire for the simple human bliss
open to all mankind. At this point, Roger Chillingworth is capable of remorse and is still able to rejoin
the great heart of mankind, but he is led astray into his own sin in which he pries into Dimmesdale s
heart, and his latent evil posses him (Rountree, p.89). In The House of the Seven Gables, this theme
seems to come through as an inherited curse. Greed drives both Colonel and Jaffrey Pyncheon to
encourage the persecution of a less powerful man, and then takes his land or inheritance. This sin is
seen as a curse throughout the book as it influences all that the living do (Carey, p. 58).
One of the characteristic themes of each book which helps to establish the setting, is the individual vs.
society. Hester Prynne s battle with society is established immediately, and we are let to judge her for
what she has done.
Hawthorne is known for being a Romantic writer with a Romantic subject: a rebel who refuses to
conform to society s code. Most

The Mythology Of The Greek Society
It s generally agreed upon, from scholars to the average reader, that the ancient Greece society was
overwhelmingly patriarchal. For this reason, 4th century B.C had views that were dominantly
misogynist. Women were thought to be no more than tools to the men of the Athenian society. To
explain, one can look at the archaeology of the Greeks. The towering figure of Dionysos, the God of
Wine, hovering over a miniature, and at the same time powerless, women perfectly exemplifies this
concept of misogynism. To further the periods misogynistic ideas, the traditional literature had no
concept of centering a story around a woman. Yet despite living in this society as described, Greek
playwright Euripides was the first voice of protofeminism in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even the chorus doesn t deny her endeavors, thus arousing some form of pity in the reader. Medea
even states that she just prefers death over all else. The argument though is, can there really by pity for
a child killer and a savage whose actions have resulted in countless deaths? No matter the outcome of
the play, Euripides writes it so there is a certain level of connection with Medea in the beginning of
the play, so the viewer can watch as she releases herself from the male control. This in turn makes the
viewer instead go through catharsis, because they related most to the tragic ending of Jason and
realized that this could have been prevented if a male treated a woman in a better fashion. Even
Bernard Knox, from the Johns Hopkins press, stated that the lines of Medea s speech is a complaint of
a woman of great intellectual capacity who lack the power for change (Knox 314). Euripides takes
advantage of this fact to convey that Medea wouldn t have mindlessly murder her children, he wanted
the audience to then think about why the playwright wrote that scene. Only then did they realize it was
to sympathize with Medea. Symbolically this scene conveyed women as an individual and not just a
women bearer. The horrors are a coverup for Euripides so his views of proto feminism weren t deemed
too radical. In addition, the work of Euripides

Mexican American Cultural Revival
Cultural revival refers to the resilience of unique traditions or group identities from the past for current
social and political affairs. People recover the loss of vital ethnic practices due to forced or voluntary
relocation, colonization or oppression in the past. The process of cultural revival such as consolidating
political identity, personal rights and recognition often consciously or unconsciously associated with
the minorities. The adaptation of past musical elements and genre into prevailing events in the society.
Huelga song is a great example in illustrating the cultural revival of corridos, and plays an important
role in U.S. American music.
The word huelga means strike in English. Similarly, huelga songs have the traits of articulating
political consciousness among the minorities, and the songs are composed entirely in Spanish. During

He fails to acknowledge the obvious dilapidation and decay in the city. The Time Traveller first
notices the Morlocks, in the night. There were several of them carrying something up the hill. He
thinks they are ghosts, which is a common rationalisation for phenomenon, which is frightening or
alien to us. This is true in the Eloi s case. They are scared of the dark, as they do not know what is out
there. The Eloi sleep together because they are scared of the dark because as this is when the Morlocks
come out to prey. The Time Traveller then develops a second theory that the Morlocks were the
working class of his age and the Eloi the upper class. This is a complete contrast to his communist
theory, it is infact, a form of capitalism. He imagines that the Morlocks came to live underground
because the upper class, the Eloi did not want to be socially involved with the lower class. Slowly
over time, the lower classes places of work began to develop underground, until there was no need for
the workers to go above ground. Like animals, they adapted to their surroundings and developed into
the Morlocks. The Time Traveller believes that the Morlocks are the working classes who struggle
beneath the more affluent Eloi. This belief seems to be confirmed by the Eloi s appearance. They are
above ground and are dressed in rich clothes and never do any work. The Morlocks are a dull white,

The Dangers Of Animal Rights
Animal Rights Animal Rights isn t something that should be taken lightly. There s animals in many
places that are neglected, and unloved. The most reported cases of abuse is from dogs, cats, horses,
and livestock. Intentional animal cruelty is strongly related with other crimes, including violence
against people(Animal Cruelty Facts and Stats). I have three dogs, two of my dogs are rescues from
situations similar to what you will read in my paper. Why are animals not given the same rights as
humans? I want to know why people feel the need to hurt animals. I want to understand why it would
even cross their minds to hurt a defenseless animal. I read this from an article online. I found it
shocking, and made me sick to my stomach. Earlier this week, Paul Rogers from Gloucestershire was
jailed for 16 weeks after he admitted that he had microwaved his pet rabbit. Rogers a man with a
history of psychiatric problems claimed he carried out the act because he was angry at not being
prescribed some medication that he said he needed. But what typically possesses anyone to inflict
such acts of intentional animal torture and cruelty? (IATC) There are many types of IATC including
individuals that do it: as a religious ritual sacrifice; as an artistic sacrifice (e.g. killing animals in films
such as the controversial Cannibal Holocaust); because they have psychological disorders (such as
antisocial/psychopathic personality disorders and engage in deliberate acts of zoosadism),

All People Are Good At Heart
According to Anne Frank, all people are good at heart. But is that really true? Well, the truth is, that
not all people are good at heart. Furthermore, The people anne was referring to as good at heart were
the individuals responsible for the mass murder of the innocent Jewish people. Additionally, The Jews
were forced out of their homes, had their businesses taken away, etc. for no valid reason except for
their religion. And finally If everyone was good at heart, than the fighting and bickering occuring in

This point is often overlooked because it is less severe than the other too, but it is still very important

are not acting good at heart in this situation. Mr. Van Daan is trying to sell Mrs Van daan s coat for
cigarettes and he know that the coat means a lot to her. If Mr Van Daan was good at heart, he would

point, this next quote states, Dussel: Thanks to this clumsy fool there is now someone who knows we
are up here! In this quote, Mr Dussel blames the loud noise on peter. Peter did do it, but it wasn t
necessary to call him out for it. If he was good at heart he wouldn t have done this and just tried to
address the situation. This quote makes Mr. Dussel look like a jerk even though he is actually nice.

Literary Criticism In To Kill A Mockingbird And A Separate...
Literary criticism is defined as an informed, written analysis and evaluation of a work of literature. An
example of a literary criticism is intertextual criticism, which is a comparison of two literary works in
terms of symbols, themes, characters, and other criteria. In the fictitious novels To Kill a Mockingbird
and A Separate Peace, Harper Lee and John Knowles use intertextual criticism to allow the reader to
associate the novel with other works and establish connections. Throughout the stories A Separate
Peace and To Kill A Mockingbird, the stories contain several similarities in terms of loss of innocence,
using a tree as a symbol of friendship, and using the scapegoat archetype. Loss of innocence was
addressed in both novels in similar ways. When Phineas exhibited confusion at Gene s studying
habits, Gene felt like his brain exploded, he minded, despised the possibility that I might be head of
the school (Knowles 45). In both works of literature, a sudden realization triggered a loss of innocence
and change in attitude. In this case, when Gene found out that Phineas minded that he could be the top
of their class, he interpreted it as Phineas being envious and wanting him to fail. Gene thinking that
Phineas wants him to fail completely changed the dynamic of their relationship and Gene s naive
thoughts of him and Phineas having a healthy friendship. Comparably, when Brinker confronted
Phineas and Gene about the tree incident, the words shocked Phineas into awareness (Knowles 167).
When Phineas realized the true reason behind his injury, Phineas s character, specifically in the way he
acted towards Gene, was affected. Phineas had spent the majority of the novel in denial of Gene s
crimes and when he found out he came to the realization that not everyone was on his side. With this
comes his loss of naivety and his undying love for life were compromised. Similarly in To Kill A
Mockingbird, when Jem found out the true views of Maycomb it was, Jem s turn to cry. His face was
streaked with angry tears...it ain t fair (Lee 243). Similar to the previous two examples Jem was a
young boy who after hearing the verdict of the trial, comes to the realization of the true working of

mother prefers sunrise, Warawra enjoys the sunset. She deems the sunset is a start of a new night, and
a preparation for another sunrise, (12). This symbolizes her immigration to Canada being a new step
in her life; the sunrise to come. In February 1, 1992, by Nila Somaia Carten, Somaia Carten also
symbolizes her conflicts in immigrating, more so with objects than words. On her flight to Vancouver,
Somaia Carten is very nervous about her immigration. Her sweaty palms represent the nervousness
she feels anticipating the landing of the plane, the palms of my hands are sweaty [...] I anxiously wipe
them on my jeans, (19). Due to this nervousness she finds herself doubting her decision, I worry that I
am making the biggest mistake of my life, (19) and apprehensively asking herself will I find a job?
Will I find a place to stay? (19). Her uneasiness asserts how difficult it is for her to make the decision
to leave her comfort zone and immigrate to Canada. Unlike Warawra, Somaia Carten is not fleeing a

Essay On The Stock Market Crash
The stock market crash was a leading cause in the great depression and negatively impacted the US by
increasing poverty, making it harder to live, and it also changed economics and the world today. I will
explain the reasons behind the crash and its effects on life in America.
The stock market, in this case the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), is a place where people can go
to buy, sell, or trade stock, or shares, of companies. The NYSE, which was officially founded in 1817,
was bustling with people and investors in the 1920s. Everyone thought that the stock market was just
an easy way to get rich. People thought that profit was certain, but it wasn t. In 1929 the NYSE had
reached its peak, as almost everyone had stock. While there were warning signs of a potential crash,

Farmers were faced with severe droughts which caused most of their crops were destroyed. Farmers
would take out a loan to buy seed. When the harvest came they would reimburse the loaner. Many
farmers went bankrupt because they were unable to repay their debts.
After the crash of the stock market and the closure of banks nationwide, the Federal Government took
steps to prevent another crash or to at least minimize the impact. Additionally, they took steps to get
out of the depression. President Franklin D. Roosevelt proposed a New Deal. His New Deal
introduced many agencies and programs that helped lower the unemployment rate and promote the
economy. Many of these programs are still in effect today, helping prevent another large economic
depression. The Federal Reserve also took measures to stop banks from closing like they did after the
crash.
The stock market crash caused an economic depression in the US and also worldwide. It destroyed
many businesses and investors and had a negative impact on America. Steps have been taken to
prevent a similar crash from

to learn because of the unique grammar and how they have a symbol for every word in their language.
Mayan is much harder for reasons we will get to. It was thought to be impossible until recently. The
documentary Cracking the Maya Code explains how we were able to take a language that was
considered impossible for us to learn, even on a basic level. The film explained that all changed when
we finally were able to figure out the pattern in the complex language. Some people would simply

How Cold War Affected American Culture
The Cold War was one of the most influential wars of time. It affected areas all over the world. One of
the places where its impact was the strongest was in the United States. The Cold War affected America
in many ways. Their culture overall took a turn. Movies, music, education, fashion, etc. all changed
over the course of the Cold War. One example in which America s culture was forever impacted by the
Cold War is their movie industry and education. According to the website

techniques to show that it was better than soviet realism . They also used it for propaganda. The
fashion industry was also greatly impacted. Trends constantly changed. Padded shoulders and fuller
clothes alike became the new look for women. Women s underwear also changed. It started to be able
to shape their bodies well and it later evolved into looser and more comfortable pieces. Lastly, the
music industry was also impacted because the U.S. used it, specifically jazz music, to spread
propaganda about their country and to fight the Soviets. They used it as a secret weapon . Its safe to

How Does Edgar Allan Poe Use Imagery
When reading a novel I often get engaged by the amount of detail the author includes. I find myself
most interested when I can picture myself in the character s shoes and feel like i m in the novel
myself. This kind of feeling is caused by imagery. Imagery is defined as the use of vivid figurative
language to represent objects, actions or ideas. Authors tend to use imagery to create a mental image
in the audience s head. This is often done with the use of your senses. Incorporating details about
touch, taste, or smell often gives the audience a specific idea of what the author is trying to portray.
Imagery is important in all literature but was especially prominent during the romantic era. Edgar

Block Booking System, Admission Price Discrimination, And...
The Code established trade practices consisting of the block booking system, admission price
discrimination, and the formation of clearance and zoning boards. Block booking was a practice in
which motion picture companies would sell their movies in blocks in a package deal to the exhibitors.
Even though exhibitors were given information about the films they were licensing like who starred in
it, what it was about, etc. the films were licensed without viewing the movie at the time of contracting
(Klein, 2000, p. 431), which meant that the movie studios could even profit off of bad productions as
these blocks were sold as a bulk all or nothing deal. This meant that if the exhibitors wanted one

The only viable way to make profits was to rely on the novelty of an early run of a new release to
attract audiences. The problem with such a reliance was that runs in theaters were regulated by the
Clearance and Zoning boards, which were set up as another practice under the Code in an attempt to
organize distribution of films in the nation. It arranged theaters in different regions on the marketing
pattern of zoning, clearance and run. The country was divided into thirty markets, compartmentalized
into zones, and classified by runs that would range from fourteen days to forty two days or more with
a potential of running for more than a year in large markets (Schuchman, Balio, 1994). This practice
gave the Board, which was dominated by the Big 5, the power to control which movie would play
when and where. This was specifically important as movies that were already viewed by the potential
audience, would not draw in the same patronage as it would in the first run. Consequently whoever got
the right to show the movie first would stand to make the most profit. It was very obvious that this
would be a potential source of discrimination against independent exhibitors as the Big 5 would favor
their own exhibition houses over that of independent exhibitors. With all three practices, it was clear
that the intention was to increase profits. Survival of businesses was very precarious as many

Examples Of The Strongest Individual In The Crucible
The Strongest Individual in The Crucible The philosopher Baltasar Gracian said, A single lie destroys
a whole reputation of integrity. This statement means a person could easily ruin a good reputation by
lying and even if you attempt to cover it up, your credibility is still lost. In Arthur Miller s play The
Crucible, the character John Proctor is most independent and shows the most individualism. The
strongest ways he shows this are going against the church, being selfish about his name and having an
affair and admitting it. One of the ways a well known farmer, John Proctor, shows individuality is
through his problems with the church. An example of one of his issues is when Reverend Hale, a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bracings In Steel Structure
OBJECTIVE
This document s purpose is to look for various available bracings used in a steel structure, which can
be applied during construction to prevent the building from succumbing to the damage occurred due to
the lateral movement, vertical movement, oscillatory movement, etc. caused by the seismic forces
such as earthquake force and also forces such as wind load acting laterally.
For the abovementioned purpose detailed information regarding bracings and various types of
bracings are to be identified, and also their functions and different advantages/disadvantages are to be
studied simultaneously. Each bracing will have distinct characteristics and method of application, so

Diagonal bracing is obstructive in nature as it blocks the location of opening which ultimately affects
the aesthetic of the building elevation. It also sometimes hinders the passage for use.
Diagonal bracing can be single diagonal or double diagonal as shown in Figure below. If there is no
architectural limitation, diagonal bracings are considered to be the most efficient in resisting the lateral
forces due to wind as these form a fully triangular vertical truss. The beams and columns are designed
to take the gravity loads only.
K bracing
The full diagonal bracing is not used in areas where a passage is required. In such cases, k bracings are
preferred over diagonal bracing because there is a room to provide opening for doors and windows
etc. as shown in Figure below
Eccentric bracing
Besides K bracing, there is another type in which door and window openings can be allowed known as
eccentric bracing as shown in Figure below. Such type of bracing arrangement cause the bending of
the horizontal members of the web of braced bent. Generally these types of braced bents resist the
lateral forces by bending action of beams and columns. These provide less lateral stiffness hence less
efficient as compared to diagonal

Sex Offenders Against Children are an Epidemic Overrunning...
With the creation of computers and Internet, high tech crimes are occurring more frequently than few
decades ago. According to a report made by the U.S. Department of Justice; one in five children (10 to
17 years old) receives unwanted sexual solicitations online (Knetzger Muraski, 2008). One of this
online sex crime against children is known as child enticement. The Florida statute 847.0135 states
that an individual is involved in online child enticement when [...] utilizes a computer on line service,
Internet service, or [...] to seduce, solicit, lure, or entice, or attempt to [...] a child or another person
believed by a person to be a child to commit any illegal act [...] relating to sexual battery [...]
(Knetzger Muraski, 2008). Therefore, online sex crime investigators must use the appropriate
protocols during an investigation to avoid a lawful criminal defense based on law enforcement
entrapment. One of the best approaches to identify, prosecute, and arrest on line sex offenders (i.e.
pedophiles) is to be actively engage in the online chat rooms (i.e. online enticement sting). In here,
high tech crime investigators must follow up a protocol. First, he/she must create an identity to look

Kim Jong-Il Father
Essay 4 Kim Jong Il s succession of his father, Kim Il Sung, was not a simple process. Unlike North
Korea s allies the USSR and China, North Korea s system of succession was well established and very
thorough. North Korea s system was not based on the idea that Jong Il would just become the leader of

political talents in order to prove that he would be able to take control of North Korea effectively. The
process would take many years and started long before the public knew that he would be the one to

Chaos and Literary Comparison Essay example
Chaos and Literary Comparison
Abstract: I will show how chaos is can be found in art, specifically in literature, and analyze John
Hawkes s Travesty to show the similarities between literature and chaos.
John Hawkes describes the artistic challenge as conceiving the inconceivable. In accordance with that
thought, Wallace Stevens says, Imagination is the power that enables us to perceive the normal in the
abnormal. It is arguable that chaos, deterministic disorder, is both abnormal and inconceivable to the
untrained mind; even to the person accustomed to chaos, the imagination is key to his/her perception
of chaos. Therefore, chaos can be found not only in nature and scientific studies, but also in art,

He refutes the perception of life as a slow, undisturbed flow; he welcomes turbulence as a factor of art
and life in general. He focuses on the processes by which turbulence is obtained, and on the moment
when that turbulence reveals itself. He is interested in the instant when the ordinary flow of molecules
becomes random: the transition between invention and destruction, the calculable and the inscrutable,
the process of life and the stasis of death (Conte, 123). He is aware that chaos is an undeniable part of
his life which he can only comprehend through his imagination and, therefore, through art (no matter
how bizarre that art may appear to be).
The initial conditions in the story are infidelity, betrayal, and artistic temperament. The variables
produced by these initial conditions are Papa s driving skill, the empty road, and the time of night. All
of these variables are crucial; if one is changed in the slightest way, it alters Papa s original plan,
thereby taking away the underlying meaning of the art and transforming it into mere debris. These
variables exemplify the Butterfly effect and sensitive dependence upon initial conditions, concepts
that suggest that even a minor change in the initial circumstances of a system (here, the conditions
leading up to the crash) determine its outcome. If by some odd happenstance, Papa s

Fascism in the Twentieth Century
Fascism in the Twentieth Century; Hitler and Nazism
Fascism is one of the most controversial political terms in modern history. The lack of a universally
accepted definition for the term has meant that it can and has been applied to a wide variety of
political contexts. Fascism developed from the destruction caused by the First World War. Its origins
can be traced, however, to the intellectual revolt against liberalism in Europe at the end of the
nineteenth century. While there was a revolutionary reaction against the ideals of the French
Revolution before 1914, it was the First World War which acted as a real catalyst for the emergence of
fascism. The war swept away the Hohenzellern, Halsburg and Romanov dynasties in Germany, ...

Although it was a complex procedure, Hitler proved himself to be both a skilled political manipulator
and an original military strategist. But above all, Hitler was a rabid ideologist. As a result of his
actions, the Hitler state destroyed the legacy of imperial and Weinmar Germany and undermined the
humane values of German culture.
Unlike in Italy, the rise of fascism in Germany occurred in one of the world s most advanced
economies, for the German modernisation and industrialisation process during the nineteenth century
had helped to create a powerful state. Political extremism in Germany developed further from the
failure of the state and society to manage the complex problems arising from the country s sudden
defeat at the end of the First World War in 1918.
Although the First World War created the necessary conditions to enable the rise of Nazism,
Nazi ideology was derived from the intellectual and political underworld of pre 1914 Germany. Before
1914, this far right ideology which was heavily focused on anti Semitism, remained on the political
fringe and had little influence on domestic policies. Hitler himself, for example, although later greatly
influenced by the Austrian anti Semitism of Karl Leuger (1844 1910), was a failed art student and
architect whose personal apathy prevented him from enjoying the bourgeois (upper class) lifestyle that
he craved. He, like other failures in the German and Austro Hungarian empires, found in anti

The Link Between Social Networking And Digital Technology
Instagram is an online social networking app that allows people to share photos and videos to the
public. Also it connected with other social networking platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter etc.

and share their life moments in a visual way by taking photos and videos. Moreover, the additional
services on Instagram, such as Instagram message, Hashtag, Filters and Like button etc. Those
features reinforced the connection between social networking and digital technology. According to
Goldhaber (2006) Attention is a system that revolves primarily around paying, receiving, and seeking
what is most intrinsically limited and not replaceable by anything else. It indicated that the
overflowing information on the Internet created an attention economy, people are desired to receive
information as much as they can. However, the overabundance of information led to the loss of
attention. Especially when the developed technology allows people to access to information in
multiple ways, multi screen and multi task became a social phenomenon. Thus social interaction with
the social networks services creates new channels for distributing attention. Hayles (2007) stated that
the shift in cognitive styles can be seen in the contrast between deep attention and hyper attention.

When I was younger, I enjoyed being constantly active; whether that be hanging off the couch while

it all. One day, I stumbled upon a video of a girl teaching the viewer how to do a skill named the back

feet to complete a full rotation). In awe, it inspired me to attempt it myself, until I realized it took a lot

  • 6. The Pros And Cons Of The Human Genome Project In this essay I am going to be talking about what the Human Genome Project is and how it has benefited society. (3)The Human Genome project focuses on identifying, sequencing and mapping all genes in the human body. Also to develop faster methods for sequencing DNA. It is an international research project that celebrated its 27th anniversary on 1 October 2017. In comparison, the Human Genome Project can be compared to the Apollo project which brought humanity to the moon. (3)The idea of the Human Genome Project came from an undergraduate researcher for the Thomas Hunt Morgan lab called Alfred Sturtevant, who, in 1911, had to map the genes of fruit flies so that he could manage his data. This would then mean that the Morgan lab can track the results through generations of scientists because they would have his results which they could compare future experiments to. This would then lead to the results being more accurate as they would have a set of results to relate to once they have completed the experiments. Therefore, this would mean that it would make their results would be more reliable. (3)The Human Genome Project has revealed that there are around 20, 500 genes in the human body. Because of this, the whole sequence of genes in the human body can be used to identify the locations of other genes in the human body. This would lead to scientists having a better understanding of how many genes are in the human body. Therefore it would suggest that the sequence of genes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through the eyes of an introverted and timid young man, James explains the intricate relationship between an old, aristocratic women, an eleven year old boy who needs help, and our main character who is in desperate need of money. Through elegant diction and advanced grammar, the author creates a prestigious and elite tone The third person point of view gives us insight on the internal conflict and also reveals a lot to the reader about the kind of person Pemberton is. Our timid young man later evolves into Pemberton as we learn more about him, and the fat rich lady is referred to as Mrs. Moreen . James explains the name of the title as Pemberton worries frantically about the eleven year old boy who becomes The pupil . In doing this, he juxtaposes an outsider perspective of the characters with specific names to slowly make the poem personable as it progresses. As more information is disclosed, the more connected we become to the characters allowing us to understand their emotions and motives behind their actions. For example, we learn that Pemberton only accepts this job because he needs the money. If he didn t need the money it s implied that he most likely wouldn t take the job due to his lack of belief in his own skills. The tone of the poem fluxuates between formal and informal to explain what they all desire. As it silently generates electricity, PV produces no air pollution or hazardous waste. It doesn t require liquid or gaseous fuels to be transported or combusted as sunlight is free and abundant. Because PV systems burn no fuel and have no moving parts, they are clean and silent, producing no atmospheric emissions or greenhouse gases to cause detrimental effects on our water, air, and soil. A Comparison of The Scarlet Letter and The House of the Seven Gables Nathaniel Hawthorne, one of America s most renowned authors, demonstrates his extraordinary talents in two of his most famed novels, The Scarlet Letter and The House of the Seven Gables. To compare these two books seems bizarre, as their plots are distinctly different. Though the books are quite seemingly different, the central themes and Hawthorne s style are closely related (Carey, p. 62). When Phoebe and Holgrave fall in love, heart and head are brought together to form a union that may end the curse forever (Sheldon, p. 16). The obvious and most prevalent theme in both books is the effect of sin. In The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynne s sin was an understandably human one which arose from desire for the simple human bliss open to all mankind. At this point, Roger Chillingworth is capable of remorse and is still able to rejoin the great heart of mankind, but he is led astray into his own sin in which he pries into Dimmesdale s heart, and his latent evil posses him (Rountree, p.89). In The House of the Seven Gables, this theme seems to come through as an inherited curse. Greed drives both Colonel and Jaffrey Pyncheon to encourage the persecution of a less powerful man, and then takes his land or inheritance. This sin is seen as a curse throughout the book as it influences all that the living do (Carey, p. 58). One of the characteristic themes of each book which helps to establish the setting, is the individual vs. society. Hester Prynne s battle with society is established immediately, and we are let to judge her for what she has done. • 11. The Mythology Of The Greek Society It s generally agreed upon, from scholars to the average reader, that the ancient Greece society was overwhelmingly patriarchal. For this reason, 4th century B.C had views that were dominantly misogynist. Women were thought to be no more than tools to the men of the Athenian society. To explain, one can look at the archaeology of the Greeks. The towering figure of Dionysos, the God of Wine, hovering over a miniature, and at the same time powerless, women perfectly exemplifies this concept of misogynism. To further the periods misogynistic ideas, the traditional literature had no concept of centering a story around a woman. Even the chorus doesn t deny her endeavors, thus arousing some form of pity in the reader. Medea even states that she just prefers death over all else. The argument though is, can there really by pity for a child killer and a savage whose actions have resulted in countless deaths? No matter the outcome of the play, Euripides writes it so there is a certain level of connection with Medea in the beginning of the play, so the viewer can watch as she releases herself from the male control. This in turn makes the viewer instead go through catharsis, because they related most to the tragic ending of Jason and realized that this could have been prevented if a male treated a woman in a better fashion. Even Bernard Knox, from the Johns Hopkins press, stated that the lines of Medea s speech is a complaint of a woman of great intellectual capacity who lack the power for change (Knox 314). Euripides takes advantage of this fact to convey that Medea wouldn t have mindlessly murder her children, he wanted the audience to then think about why the playwright wrote that scene. Only then did they realize it was to sympathize with Medea. Symbolically this scene conveyed women as an individual and not just a women bearer. I have three dogs, two of my dogs are rescues from situations similar to what you will read in my paper. Why are animals not given the same rights as humans? • 19. Literary Criticism In To Kill A Mockingbird And A Separate... Literary criticism is defined as an informed, written analysis and evaluation of a work of literature. An example of a literary criticism is intertextual criticism, which is a comparison of two literary works in terms of symbols, themes, characters, and other criteria. In the fictitious novels To Kill a Mockingbird and A Separate Peace, Harper Lee and John Knowles use intertextual criticism to allow the reader to associate the novel with other works and establish connections. Throughout the stories A Separate Peace and To Kill A Mockingbird, the stories contain several similarities in terms of loss of innocence, using a tree as a symbol of friendship, and using the scapegoat archetype. Loss of innocence was addressed in both novels in similar ways. When Phineas exhibited confusion at Gene s studying habits, Gene felt like his brain exploded, he minded, despised the possibility that I might be head of the school (Knowles 45). In both works of literature, a sudden realization triggered a loss of innocence and change in attitude. In this case, when Gene found out that Phineas minded that he could be the top of their class, he interpreted it as Phineas being envious and wanting him to fail. Gene thinking that Phineas wants him to fail completely changed the dynamic of their relationship and Gene s naive thoughts of him and Phineas having a healthy friendship. Comparably, when Brinker confronted Phineas and Gene about the tree incident, the words shocked Phineas into awareness (Knowles 167). When Phineas realized the true reason behind his injury, Phineas s character, specifically in the way he acted towards Gene, was affected. Phineas had spent the majority of the novel in denial of Gene s crimes and when he found out he came to the realization that not everyone was on his side. With this comes his loss of naivety and his undying love for life were compromised. Similarly in To Kill A Mockingbird, when Jem found out the true views of Maycomb it was, Jem s turn to cry. His face was streaked with angry tears...it ain t fair (Lee 243). • 27. Block Booking System, Admission Price Discrimination, And... The Code established trade practices consisting of the block booking system, admission price discrimination, and the formation of clearance and zoning boards. Block booking was a practice in which motion picture companies would sell their movies in blocks in a package deal to the exhibitors. Even though exhibitors were given information about the films they were licensing like who starred in it, what it was about, etc. the films were licensed without viewing the movie at the time of contracting (Klein, 2000, p. 431), which meant that the movie studios could even profit off of bad productions as these blocks were sold as a bulk all or nothing deal. The only viable way to make profits was to rely on the novelty of an early run of a new release to attract audiences. The problem with such a reliance was that runs in theaters were regulated by the Clearance and Zoning boards, which were set up as another practice under the Code in an attempt to organize distribution of films in the nation. It arranged theaters in different regions on the marketing pattern of zoning, clearance and run. The country was divided into thirty markets, compartmentalized into zones, and classified by runs that would range from fourteen days to forty two days or more with a potential of running for more than a year in large markets (Schuchman, Balio, 1994). This practice gave the Board, which was dominated by the Big 5, the power to control which movie would play when and where. This was specifically important as movies that were already viewed by the potential audience, would not draw in the same patronage as it would in the first run. Consequently whoever got the right to show the movie first would stand to make the most profit. It was very obvious that this would be a potential source of discrimination against independent exhibitors as the Big 5 would favor their own exhibition houses over that of independent exhibitors. With all three practices, it was clear that the intention was to increase profits. Survival of businesses was very precarious as many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This statement means a person could easily ruin a good reputation by lying and even if you attempt to cover it up, your credibility is still lost. In Arthur Miller s play The Crucible, the character John Proctor is most independent and shows the most individualism. The strongest ways he shows this are going against the church, being selfish about his name and having an affair and admitting it. Diagonal bracing is obstructive in nature as it blocks the location of opening which ultimately affects the aesthetic of the building elevation. It also sometimes hinders the passage for use. Diagonal bracing can be single diagonal or double diagonal as shown in Figure below. If there is no architectural limitation, diagonal bracings are considered to be the most efficient in resisting the lateral forces due to wind as these form a fully triangular vertical truss. The beams and columns are designed to take the gravity loads only. K bracing The full diagonal bracing is not used in areas where a passage is required. In such cases, k bracings are preferred over diagonal bracing because there is a room to provide opening for doors and windows etc. as shown in Figure below Eccentric bracing Besides K bracing, there is another type in which door and window openings can be allowed known as eccentric bracing as shown in Figure below. • 31. Sex Offenders Against Children are an Epidemic Overrunning... With the creation of computers and Internet, high tech crimes are occurring more frequently than few decades ago. According to a report made by the U.S. Department of Justice; one in five children (10 to 17 years old) receives unwanted sexual solicitations online (Knetzger Muraski, 2008). One of this online sex crime against children is known as child enticement. Unlike North Korea s allies the USSR and China, North Korea s system of succession was well established and very thorough. North Korea s system was not based on the idea that Jong Il would just become the leader of the country. As stated in Lynn s Bipolar Orders, each stage of Jong Il s ascension would test his political talents in order to prove that he would be able to take control of North Korea effectively. The process would take many years and started long before the public knew that he would be the one to succeed Kim Il Sung. Kim Jong Il s journey of succession started in the 1960 s. When Jong Il graduated from the University of Kim Il Sung in 1964, he immediately took up a position in the Korean Worker s Party (KWP) (Lynn, 2007). Chaos and Literary Comparison Essay example Chaos and Literary Comparison Abstract: I will show how chaos is can be found in art, specifically in literature, and analyze John Hawkes s Travesty to show the similarities between literature and chaos. John Hawkes describes the artistic challenge as conceiving the inconceivable. In accordance with that thought, Wallace Stevens says, Imagination is the power that enables us to perceive the normal in the abnormal. It is arguable that chaos, deterministic disorder, is both abnormal and inconceivable to the untrained mind; even to the person accustomed to chaos, the imagination is key to his/her perception of chaos. He refutes the perception of life as a slow, undisturbed flow; he welcomes turbulence as a factor of art and life in general. He focuses on the processes by which turbulence is obtained, and on the moment when that turbulence reveals itself. He is interested in the instant when the ordinary flow of molecules becomes random: the transition between invention and destruction, the calculable and the inscrutable, the process of life and the stasis of death (Conte, 123). He is aware that chaos is an undeniable part of his life which he can only comprehend through his imagination and, therefore, through art (no matter how bizarre that art may appear to be). The initial conditions in the story are infidelity, betrayal, and artistic temperament. The variables produced by these initial conditions are Papa s driving skill, the empty road, and the time of night. All of these variables are crucial; if one is changed in the slightest way, it alters Papa s original plan, thereby taking away the underlying meaning of the art and transforming it into mere debris. These variables exemplify the Butterfly effect and sensitive dependence upon initial conditions, concepts that suggest that even a minor change in the initial circumstances of a system (here, the conditions leading up to the crash) determine its outcome. For example, they could be rewarded and get on it in their free time or they could use it for school purposes. Our school should be able to trust us enough to be mature about what websites we get on. In high school we should already know right from wrong. Although, there should be a discipline plan for students who do break the rules. Learning how to use these tools appropriately is growing up and it being a part of life (Davis). Therefore, if a student breaks a rule using one of the devices he or she should be the only one that gets punished. The lack of a universally accepted definition for the term has meant that it can and has been applied to a wide variety of political contexts. Fascism developed from the destruction caused by the First World War. Its origins can be traced, however, to the intellectual revolt against liberalism in Europe at the end of the nineteenth century. As a result of his actions, the Hitler state destroyed the legacy of imperial and Weinmar Germany and undermined the humane values of German culture. Unlike in Italy, the rise of fascism in Germany occurred in one of the world s most advanced economies, for the German modernisation and industrialisation process during the nineteenth century had helped to create a powerful state. Political extremism in Germany developed further from the failure of the state and society to manage the complex problems arising from the country s sudden defeat at the end of the First World War in 1918. Although the First World War created the necessary conditions to enable the rise of Nazism, Nazi ideology was derived from the intellectual and political underworld of pre 1914 Germany. Before 1914, this far right ideology which was heavily focused on anti Semitism, remained on the political fringe and had little influence on domestic policies. Hitler himself, for example, although later greatly influenced by the Austrian anti Semitism of Karl Leuger (1844 1910), was a failed art student and architect whose personal apathy prevented him from enjoying the bourgeois (upper class) lifestyle that he craved. People can use Instagram to take photos at anytime and editing it with filters, and share their life moments in a visual way by taking photos and videos. Moreover, the additional services on Instagram, such as Instagram message, Hashtag, Filters and Like button etc. Those features reinforced the connection between social networking and digital technology. According to Goldhaber (2006) Attention is a system that revolves primarily around paying, receiving, and seeking what is most intrinsically limited and not replaceable by anything else. It indicated that the overflowing information on the Internet created an attention economy, people are desired to receive information as much as they can. However, the overabundance of information led to the loss of attention. Especially when the developed technology allows people to access to information in multiple ways, multi screen and multi task became a social phenomenon. Thus social interaction with the social networks services creates new channels for distributing attention.
