Hillbilly Elegy Literary Analysis
The novel, Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance was eye opening about the poverty situation currently facing
the Appalachia people. Vance brings the culture surrounding the community and the government s
effect on the people s situation down to a level even the strictest Republican or Democrat can
empathize with the situation. The issue surrounding low income families is not that the government
doesn t provide enough assistance, but that the culture does not promote the same success potential as
the wealthy culture does. The assistance provided to these communities needs to be restructured to
help build up the community not just put a band aid on the situation. It is essential to note that Vance
believes that government interference with the poor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, it involves the community s ability to change the culture around their children. He talks about
resilient children able to prosper in low income environments because they have the support of a
loving adult. The community has to step up by creating an environment that encourages success,
whether that be in a trade or by going to college. Vance is a prime example of how his community, not
the government, propelled him out of poverty. Vance was on path to continue in the cycle his mother
had created. She bounced from man to man, was arrested and in rehab multiple times, and was angry
most of the time. Vance s grandparents pushed him to get through school with good grades. He then
went into the marines, where he learned to get out of his community s sense of learned helplessness.
He then worked his way through Ohio State and Yale law school, while meeting his beautiful wife. He
overcame several occasions that his background could have prevented him from succeeding in his
profession. Vance attributes this success to his grandparents who pushed him through school, his
marine supervisors that guided him through difficult decisions, his advisor at Yale that gave him life
changing advice, and his sister who was a constant support and role

Disadvantages Of Science In Mining
Science in Mining
Introduction: There is a lot of physical strengths involved in mining. However, before people mine any
landscape, they need people like: geologists, mathematicians, biologists, engineers, economists,
geographers, and other experts from narrower areas (mineralogists, geophysicists petrologists) to plan
acknowledge all of the outcomes of their decisions (how mining is going to affect environment: flora
fauna, locals or people living around that area and the land itself).
A: Sciences: There are 2 major types of sciences that mining critically needs: Location
finds/plans/engineers/researches information about chosen area, tells cost/outcomes/plans of the area.
These are: Geography, Geophysics, Economic Geology, Math.
Extraction extracts/identifies types of rocks/soils, uncovers origin/deformation and helps to recover
the land.
These are: Geochemistry, Mineralogy, Petrology, Structural Geology, Mining Geology, Mining
Engineering.
B: Various types of Sciences help in mining of ores minerals.
Geochemistry helps to measure and identify properties/types of minerals in given environment.
Geography provides with a correct location and information about land.
Geophysics provides with information (e.g. temperature maps) about subsurface characteristics:
geological structure, groundwater, impurities human artifacts.
Economic Geology shows the rates/cost of certain metals/minerals, gives predictions about lifetime of
ores and their costs.

Chin Torn Apart Or Mended By The Rule Of Zedong
China: Torn Apart Or Mended By The Rule Of Mao Zedong
There is controversy whether the rule of Mao Zedong was beneficial or destructive, though by looking
into the depths of history the answer is revealed. As Mao Zedong took control over China on October
1, 1949, he immediately installed many reformations to China s economy, culture, and government.
These reformations proved to be devastating towards the people of China. After decolonization Mao
Zedong s enforcement of communism and international isolation lead China into attempting
industrialization by imposing labor intensive methods, and preventing China from technologically
advancing.
During the beginning of the twentieth century China had become a republic after the rule of Sun ...

However, Chiang s decision to focus his military on the Communists turned out to be a poor choice
because, while the Chinese were occupied with their internal conflicts, the Japanese set up the puppet
state of Manchukuo in 1932 ( China ). The invasion of Japan was devastating for China; civilians were
murdered, raped, tortured, military groups were destroyed, and the government went bankrupt. The
Sino Japanese war finally ended when Tokyo surrendered to the Allies in 1945 at the end of World
War II (Kenley, Republican China ). This lead to the continuation of conflict between the Guomindang
and the Communists. The war turned in favor of the communists, forcing Chiang and his followers to
retreat to the island province of Taiwan (Kenley, Republican China ). On October 1, 1949, Mao
Zedong proclaimed the People s Republic of China after taking domination over China s mainland
(Kenley, Republican China ). Mao Zedong continued to rule China under Communist rule and started
to transform the former Republican China.
Due to Mao s aspirations of industrialization and modernization, the Chinese leader drastically
devastated the working class by enforcing collectivization and labor intensive methods. In order to

Examples Of Eros In Medea
Caitlyn Santos
Comparative Literature 2AW
Professor King
15 November 2014
The Many Forces of Eros Eros expresses the feeling of sexual arousal produced by the physical
attraction between two people. In Plato s Phaidros, he describes the development of the soul during
the process of gaining knowledge through the experience of love. The progression of love introduces
the growth from immortality to morality in the aspects of gaining self control. The strength gained
from the force of love elevates ones soul into a more divine realm. The use of winged horses in the
story depicts divinity, while the tragedy between Medea and Jason depict the mortal realm. Plato
focuses on one of the most powerful aspects of love and its ability to effects the lifestyle ... Show

The art of passion is very beautiful, but only when it is appreciated correctly. Plato, by straying away
from the norm, approached the power of eros in a much more pure way. By forming a better
appreciation of the act of falling in love rather than the act of making love, Plato reestablished the
importance of inner beauty, disregarding the physical attribute of love. When sitting with a significant
other they often ask, Why do you like me? It is found then that often, finding the best handful of
words is quite hard. Plato s emphasis on self awareness allows people to reflect before acting, think
before speaking, and understand before judging. Plato s arguments are quite helpful in not only
approaching a time of sexual discomfort, but anytime that requires analyzing a problem or conflict.
Although passionate love for someone or something can be quite overwhelming, Plato provides
insight and guidance to those who have never experienced it. The pure form of love is one s passionate
desire for another. In order to preserve that pureness Plato practices the act of self control and the
ability to appreciate the beauty before approaching it. The themes that Plato s texts give are different
perspectives on approaching love and in more modern times, the act of dating. Plato demonstrates this
theme, but in a more extreme manner. Plato demonstrates eros as a passionate force between two
people as chemistry . This chemistry grows

The case against Judicial Review Essay
The Case Against Judicial Review
In order to make a case against judicial review it is first important to understand the origins. Born in
1803 out of the landmark United States Supreme Court decision of Marbury V. Madison, judicial
review gives the court the power to invalidate any law repugnant (or in conflict with) to the
constitution. Judicial review has for the courts, become a self made license to strike down legitimately
made legislation by democratically elected representatives. It has been a tool to restrain laws that are
in the bill stage by the threat that if the bill materializes into law then at its first challenge the court
will strike it down.
In a democratically elected society it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is exemplified by an individual who has brought a case through the court or legal system. Now
that its at the U.S. Supreme Court the person seeks to have the words under God removed from the
pledge of allegiance (the success of this case is unlikely because of how the court has a conservative
right wing majority). Another example of a group with their own agenda undermining democracy is
the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union). The ACLU is seeking to repeal the Bush administration
s highly touted Patriot Act. This is an example of a group that is making it their mission to skirt the
proper channels of American democracy and use the judiciary to get sweeping policy change with or
without the consent of the governed people.
Judicial review has become the tool of choice for all the public interest law firms. It is through judicial
review they are able to get (properly enacted) laws struck down or thrown out. Judicial review goes
from being a tool with the intent of protecting the constitution to manipulating the legitimately enacted
laws.
In conclusion of the second argument against judicial review, it is inappropriate for individuals and
groups to have the ability to make frivolous attacks on laws that are democratically enacted.
Furthermore, it is inappropriate to clog the judiciary with requests such as removing under God from
the pledge of allegiance when they should speak to their congressman or senator over the

The Evil of Human Trafficking
Introduction Human Trafficking is one of the most heinous crimes that operate over transnational
boundaries. The act of human trafficking is highlighted as a criminalized activity according to the
article 5 of the Trafficking in Persons Protocol set out by United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime.
While Human Trafficking is generally attributed to the Less Developed Countries. This is because the
socio economic dynamics along with weaker law and order situation provide a strong environment for
this activity to take place. That said the developed countries have an equally important role to play in
the prevalence of Human Trafficking. What is Human Trafficking? As implied by the word, and in
simple words, human trafficking involves smuggling of human individuals across Trans national
boundaries. However, over the years it has been realized that there are far more other angles to human
trafficking beyond mere smuggling. For this reason, the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime
has given a comprehensive definition of human trafficking under the article 3 of its Trafficking in
Persons Protocol. According to the definition given by the United Nations, the act of human
trafficking involves, recruiting, transporting, harboring, transferring or receiving of persons by means
of fraud, exploitation, force, coercion, threat, deception, or offering of some kind of unlawful benefits
(Potts, 2003). Generally, human trafficking is done for the purpose of prostitution, slavery or

A Puerto Rican Childhood Analysis
Cautionary old wive s tales have long been an effective way to teach children morality and values
without boring them. In Judith Ortiz Cofer s A Partial Remembrance of a Puerto Rican Childhood (rpt.
In Santi V. Buscemi and Charlotte Smith, 75 Readings Plus, 10th ed. [New York: McGraw Hill, 2013]
67 71) it is clear how a good storyteller such as Mama can capture the attention her audience. Cofer s
grandmother often tells these cuentos to her daughters and granddaughters over afternoon coffee.
These stories are used as an indirect way for Mama to teach her family the values and lessons that she
has learned throughout her life. With her family members, Mama s presence demands a universal
respect. Everyone in the room listens to what Mama has to say, even if it s not what they want to hear.
Mama is the absolute leader among the women her family and her opinions are held in high regard.
Cofer acknowledges this saying that even her own mother did not possess Mama s matriarchal power
to command and keep everyone s attention (68). All of the stories that Mama tells are individual
experiences or things that she has observed throughout her life. These stories all accumulate into a

She hopes to pass on the wisdom that that she has gained to the women of her family. Each story has a

women in particular, in hopes that they make good decisions. Cofer recalls when the tale of Maria La
Loca was told for the sake of her Aunt Laura who was engaged at young age: I noticed how young
Aunt Laura lowered her eyes, refusing to meet Mama s meaningful gaze (68). Mama is obviously
concerned for her daughter and doesn t want to see her make the same mistakes as Maria La Loca.
Although this upsets Laura, she still holds her mother in high regard and listens to her story without

How Did Ancient Greece Influence Modern Society
The Influence of Greece on Modern Society
Greece and Rome have both heavily contributed to modern society, some of their contributions being
architecture, knowledge, and tendencies in government. Without these two ancient civilizations, we
might not be as technologically advanced as we are today. Although ancient Romans invented so
many important things like aqueducts and roads, the ancient Greeks were more prominent in
influencing modern culture.
Some may argue that Rome has much more influence on modern societies, but the interesting thing
about Rome is that it was heavily influenced by Greece. Ancient Greece was at its peak with art and
religion around 800 B.C. to 500 B.C., and ancient Rome came around during early 700 B.C. Ancient
Rome adapted many of the same ideals that ancient Greece had, like their polytheistic religion and
their type of government. Essentially, ancient Greece was the stepping stone that began all of these
ancient characteristics and influenced ancient Rome.
In almost every modern society, art is treasured and appreciated and held up to certain standards. The
ancient Greeks were big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before direct democracy in Athens, Greek city states were somewhat wild and unpredictable in terms
of leadership. Popular during these times were monarchies and oligarchies, and after many years the
Greeks decided to contribute one of the greatest things to modern society, democracy. Now, this
democracy was nowhere near the same as modern societies have adapted today, but the fundamental
building blocks for today s government were highlighted in Athens direct democracy. Athens direct
democracy consisted of every male Athenian having the rights to vote and participate in politics and
elect new leaders (Cartwright). This heavily influenced modern day democracy, where citizens have
equal rights in voting, including

Rational Emotive Behavioural Theory Essay
The following essay will consider that there is potential for rational emotive behavioural techniques to
be used within a person centred therapeutic relationship and that the person centred approach can be
attuned with the techniques connected with rational emotive behavioural therapy. The person centred
theory of counselling proposes that everyone has the ability to become a fully functioning person.
Reaching this goal should be a focal objective in therapy. The main hypothesis of rational emotive
behaviour therapy is that emotions branch primarily from an individual s beliefs, which then effects
the interpretations they make of the responses to life situations. Each theory has various techniques
that are aim to successfully achieve these objectives for the client. . Instead of viewing different
theoretical perspectives as separate units, it is important for a therapist to understand various theories,

Reaching this goal should be a focal objective in therapy (Rogers, 1961 as cited in Truscott, 2010).
The founder of person centred therapy, Carl Rogers, argues that deep down inside all people are
truthful, capable, can make positive changes, and are able to live successful and constructive lives
(Corey, 2013). This foundational idea on which person centred therapy is built on is known as an
actualising tendency (Cain, 2002). The person centred theory was responsible for a major change in
focus of therapy by concentrating on the person, rather than on their current issues (Cain, 2002).
Roger s proposed that the intention of therapy was not to find answers to the clients difficulties but
rather help with the development process so clients can manage problems when they are recognised
(Corey, 2013). By placing focus on helping change the personality of the person, it will assist the
client with any future issues that

Things Done Well During The Presentation
Things done well
During the presentation there were examples provided from the textbook to allow the trainees to
capture what was being presented and said. This allowed for them to see what was being taught. It was
also helpful that there were examples provided during the presentation to allow for a real life
experiences in the workforce, making everything more relatable to each individual in its own unique
way. There were also instances where trainees were asked questions and to engage them throughout
the process of training. This would allow them to constantly think, especially when there were pop
quizzes throughout. Trainees were also able to ask questions during the entire presentation, allowing
for people to have their answers answered at any point. In order for this to succeed we had to prepare
beforehand so that the questions would be answered as effectively and as clearly as they could.
Having handouts that had the slides with room to write notes on the side allowed the audience to make
notes and to write ideas. We also provide quizzes that were interactive throughout the presentation on
the slides. This allowed us to ask the question, and afterwards there were animations that showed the
audience which answer was the right one. It was a little bit of a learning curve, but it was done clearly
and effectively after some research had been performed. By implanting new ideas into presentations, it

Belonging To A New Place
The meaning of belongings is feeling comfortable and happy in a particular group of people,
surroundings, situation or society. Belonging can be related to culture, language, background, hobbies,
religion, occasions, national dress or some particular activity. It is a well known fact that belonging to
a group can make an individual feel not only accepted, but more powerful that if they were on their
own. Let us discuss the belongings in two different situations. In first situation we will discuss
influence of belongings on us at a place familiar to us and then we will compare it by supposing a visit
of some strange place with different culture. When we live in our own country, we remained
supportive by our own culture, people with same language, religion, back ground, familiar food,

neighbors, relatives and share happy and sad moments with them. We help each other and feel

Essay On Puppy Mill
When you are seeing the adorable puppy in the window of a pet store, flea market or even on the
internet you should just ask yourself where exactly are these puppies coming from? Roughly 90
percent of puppies in pet stores get them from puppy mills. What exactly is a puppy mill? Puppy mills
are commercial breeding facilities that mass produce dogs for sale through pet stores, or directly to
consumers through classifies ads or the internet. It is important to know that, in many cases, puppy
mills are not illegal. In most states, a breeding kennel can legally keep dozens, even hundreds, of dogs
in cages for their entire lives, as longs as the dogs are given the basics of food, water, and shelter. The
federal Animal Welfare Act passed in 1966, requires breeders who have more than three breeding
female dogs and sell puppies to pet stores or puppy brokers to be licensed and inspected by the U.S.
Department of Agriculture. In most cases, the standards that breeders are required to meet by law are
extremely minimal. In puppy mills, female dogs are bred about twice a year until they can no longer
produce puppies. Mothers and their litters often suffer from malnutrition, exposure, and a lack of
adequate veterinary care. Most of them are bred far too early, before it is safe. Not only is ... Show

Racial And Ethnic Differences Essay
Young children making sense of racial and ethnic differences: A sociocultural approach
Fostering cultural awareness in children has many benefits that contribute to the overall development
of children. Educators encounter challenges that may include academic pressure, collaborating with
diverse families, and meeting the needs of the students. This paper examines theoretical perspectives
using a longitudinal study. The study examined the experiences of children ages 3.5 to 5.5, by using
their everyday experiences of race and ethnic diversity in their classroom setting. First, the article
mentions parents perceptions on how children develop an understanding for cultural awareness. The
article notes that parents assume children are color innocent, therefore the subject is often ignored.
Further, children s understanding of culture is influenced through their environment, resulting in
developing misconceptions and biases. Therefore, it is crucial as educators to examine closely how
children make sense of racial and ethnic diversity in order to determine the best approach to

FASB created Statement 158 that amended statements 87 and 132 and required different recognition
of gains and losses for underfunded and overfunded pension plans. Large companies faced shortfalls
because they severally underfunded their pension plans and did not recognize it properly. Per
FASB.org, prior accounting standards let the companies recognize an asset or liability from a defined
benefit postretirement plan, which almost always differed from the plan s overfunded or underfunded
status . A company could delay recognition of certain economic events. The delay was affecting the
changes in plan assets and liabilities; often liabilities were recognized at significantly less amounts
than the underfunded plan showed. A company also could recognize an asset on its Balance Sheet for
the underfunded plan. All information about overfunded and underfunded plans was taken to the
footnotes in the form of reconciliation. This created informational asymmetry and did not provide full
representation of a company s financial situation. FASB Statement 158 required every company to
recognize economic events in the year that they occur, as well as reporting current funded status as
assets and liabilities for the defined benefit pension plans on company s financial statements and not
in the notes. This Statement is in effect since December

Primate Morphology For The Lemur Catta
This paper will discuss primate morphology for the Lemur catta, also known as the ring tailed lemur,
what characterizes them as primates, how they react in their environment, and their social and
adaptive behaviors in that environment. The Lemur catta and it is only found in the island of
Madagascar, as well as off the coast of southeast Africa. In Madagascar, they reside in the
southeastern portion anywhere from sea level, up to 8530 feet high. Their environment consists
mainly of tropical forested area in the proximity of nine forests: Andohahela, Andringitra, Ankilitelo,
Berenty, Beza Mahafaly, Isalo, Tsimanampetsotsa, Tsirave, and Zombitse (Godfrey et al. 1998).
According to the National Primate Research Center (pin.primate.wisc.edu), they also have a variety of
habitats for example rainforests, spiny bush forests, subalpine, deciduous, and gallery. However, a lot
of their habitat has been affected by constant human contact; agricultural clearing, deforestation, and
burning to produce charcoal. The Lemur catta need to be able to hide in the forest and they are not

Breast Cancer Research
Breast cancer has definitely become a serious worldwide health challenge. According to the National
Institutes of Health (NIH), public health data points shows that the global burden of breast cancer in
women, measured by the number of times something happens, death, and financial based costs, is
large and on the rise. Worldwide, it is estimated that more than one million women are diagnosed with
breast cancer every year, and more than 410,000 will die from the disease (GIVE SOURCE). In low
and middle income countries (LMICs), the setup and funds for common examination of medical breast
examinations (such as mammography) are often not available. In these settings, breast cancer is
therefore diagnosed at late stages and women may receive poor ... Show more content on

Therefore, a number of studies have depicted the need for BC screening/early detection in LMICs to
prevent early deaths of women presenting with late stage at diagnosis. Yet, many complex issues
harvest in the context of planning and implementation of BC screening in LMICs. So far,
mammography has remained the main examination of BC screening throughout the world. Adequate
evidence exists from some randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that mammography screening is
associated with significant reductions in BC mortality. But in order to be effective, mammographic
screening programs must be of high quality, with appropriate targeting and of sufficient frequency. In
LMICs, BC incidence is lower and occurs more in younger age groups when breast tissue is dense.
Promoting a need for another, more appropriate screening examination to take place. Also, there is a
lack of resources for implementing any population level screening programs using mammography.
Running a mammographic screening program becomes impossible and pointless in LMICs since the
costs are too high and the benefits are insignificant. Maximum cost benefit can only take place if
screening is done in an age group which has a sufficiently high incidence of BC and sufficient

Examples Of Mechanical Inelasticity In Modern Times
Henri Bergson believes mechanical inelasticity (Bergson ) is essential to laughter. In Chaplin s movie
Modern Times, there are many illustrations of such technique that not only composes humorous but
also contribute to its theme capitalists exploit low social status workers. After giving the very basic
elements of laughter: lack of emotions, connection to human traits, relationship to social context
Bergson introduces mechanical inelasticity as the main cause of his main idea regard to laughter.
Inelasticity is rigidness. When people are insensitive to changes and remains the last state of their
bodies, their bodies are lack of elasticity. The example provided by Bergson is when someone falls,

People laugh harder at his clumsiness when he screws his coworker s nose than when, during his first
break, he keeps the screwing movement without the wrenches. This scene serves crucial role in the
movie. It shows both sarcasm and humorous. The president is a representation of the upper class
people. He has power; he controls the speed of the assembly lines. He is cruelcurial; he cares only
about the profit and exploits the workers like they are machines. While the mechanical movement
rises laughter, it also exposes the dark society during the great depression.
A similar example is the scene which Tramp wears skates and is being robbed when he is the night
watchman of a department store. The robbers threaten him with a gun and ask him to stay where he is,
but Tramp cannot control his own movement wearing the skates. He stumbles and falls. The robbers
fire and break the wine cask. Tramp becomes drunk and even harder to control his movement. His
movements when he should stay still are the prolonged momentum during inappropriate situations.
People laugh at his inability to control himself, which is exactly the inelasticity Bergson states in

Tips For A New Puppy Or Dog Home
When you bring a new puppy or dog home and you plan on keeping it inside most of the time you are
going to have to puppy proof your home. Otherwise you may return to a disaster after being gone for
work or a night out. Here are some tips to help. Before you bring your dog home remove anything at
ground level you want to keep. This can include shoes, game controllers, lamp cords or anything that
is below a 4 foot level. The reason for this is because your dog will think that anything in its reach is a
toy, worth eating or chewing up into shreds. Any paper, magazines, clothes or other normal objects
that people have in their home should be put up on a shelf or placed inside a closed closet. There is no
getting around this because if you leave your dog unattended inside your home it will surely get
separation anxiety and start to chew, tear or shred anything in its reach. Make sure that lower level
cabinets have child proof latches on them and never leave cabinets that contain cleaning solutions or
furniture wax open after each use. Even if you plan on leaving your dog outside when you leave you
will still have to keep an eye on it when you are home. Make sure that you reward good behavior with
a treat or lots of loving attention and bad behavior with a stern NO . You shouldn t beat or injure your
pet but a medium swat on the rump or nose with a loosely rolled paper will help in getting the dogs
attention. If you find yourself in a situation where the dog has destroyed

The Berlin Wall And The End Of The Wall
The Berlin Wall was a fortification established in 1961 in order to separate East Berlin from West
Berlin. The wall separated people from their work, home, and family, and the results were devastating.
The events that surrounded the destruction of the wall proved that men seek freedom by nature. Many
parallels can be drawn from the fall of the wall in 1989 to the end of the embargo that the United
States had on Cuba for roughly half a century. Germany was split four ways (see picture to the left)
between the United States, France, Britain, and the Soviet Union after World War II. The United
States, France, and Britain controlled West Germany and West Berlin in a democracy. Whereas, the
Soviet Union controlled East Germany and East Berlin with communism. About 2.5 million people
fled from East to West Germany between the years of 1949 and 1961. In Germany the U.S.S.R. built a
wall that surrounded West Berlin. The wall was built because they feared that the loss of more people
would threaten their economy. The wall symbolized the difference between [how] western democrats
and eastern communists (C., R., S., 2012) believed that the country should be run. In Germany the
USSR built a wall that surrounded West Berlin. They built this wall because they feared too many
people were fleeing East Berlin and even East Germany for the freedoms in West Berlin. (History
Channel, n.d.), (History , n.d.).

The Four Noble Truths Of The Dukkha
Growing up in what some may consider the good life , the Gotama (Buddha) was raised in a kingdom
with every luxury available to him. His life was well set considering he was a prince and heir to the
kingdom. When suddenly one day he was struck with the harsh realities of life, interpreting them as
sufferings. As a result of these sufferings being brought to his attention, he left his kingdom in order to
find a way to end he suffering. Gotama traveled searching for many years exploring religions and
possible solutions to end universal suffering. Finally he developed his own practice and way of life
that he felt was the solution. Gotama was now considered enlightened therefor becoming the Buddha.
The foundations of Buddhism where created to be simple and is how the Buddha explains the process
in which one must understand in order to understand suffering itself. These sermons are known as the
four noble truths. The Dukkha is the first sermon also known as suffering. In order to understand the
meaning of the first Dukkha and how it arises, one must also understand and follow the second, third,
and forth, noble truths which contribute to the solution of the Dukkha. Most importantly, one must
understand the Five Aggregates that make up the Dukkha, which according to Buddha also represent
the being . Once one can understand this multi level system they can start to apply the Buddhist
solution.
The first noble truth describes all things that are considered in order to

Disadvantages Of Securitization
As securitization seems to be a lucrative way for banks to not only enhance liquidity and diversify risk
but also improves their performance considerable incentive problems occurred during the turmoil and
among the different parties. Those incentive problems led to information asymmetries and moral
hazard among the involved stakeholders .As the Bank/Originator creates reference pool sells them to
the bankruptcy remote trust (such as Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac) Bankruptcy remote trust buys
reference pool and securitizes it sells them to the capital market where potential investors exists to
purchase securities purchase of securities by investors 6 gap between mortgage originators and
investors increases, it reduces the incentives for lenders to screen mortgage applicants thoroughly.
During the turmoil banks had more and better information about the Mortgage Backed Securities and
their performance value in contrast to third parties as they knew more about the mortgage applicant
and the underlying mortgage loan .As bank incentives are to issue more mortgage loans and then sell
them to bankruptcy remote trusts to securitize them, they did not bear the risk of the mortgage default

Therefore, the process of transfer of the receivables from the originator to the SPV involves an outlay
on account of stamp duty, which can make securitization commercially unviable in several states. If
the securitized instrument were issued as evidencing indebtedness, it would be in the form of a
debenture or bond subject to stamp duty. On the other hand, if the instrument is structured as a Pass

would not attract stamp duty, as it is not an instrument provided for specifically in the charging

Essay about Incest
Incest
Incest is one of the most interesting taboos of our time. The definition of incest is a highly
controversial topic. Yet, the definition of incest is one of the most important definitions for the people
involved, though the law s and psychologists meanings are not much the same. Incest needs to be
similarly defined for the incestuous parties, both by the law and by psychologists. The definition of
incest should be determined by the cases of incest. The people who commit incest, and the types of
incest should be considered when making this definition for the law. Why incest occurs has a great
deal to do with the people and the types of incest. With the definition dissimilar between the law and

(Armstrong, pg 235) If the daughter is seductive, then she might gain power over her father. This is
not always true for mother son incest. Mother son incest is usually brought on as a way to highly
express love, Asex education quot;, or the mother is promiscuous. If the mother feels like she is
expressing her love to her son, then she uses sex as a means of closeness. (Justice, pg 102) There is
either no husband or a passive husband. The mother can be very seductive and encourage the son to
have sex with her and limits the son s social life. She acts on a Adon t leave me quot; attitude to keep
her son tied down. Sometimes the son gets aroused my his mother and then becomes the aggressor.
(Justice, pg 103) If he isn t attracted to mom, why not be attracted to his sister? This is the case in
brother sister, or sibling incest. It is less traumatic and the guy acts kind of proud about it. The
brothers can become violent and force their sister to join in, although usually the sister is willing to
participate. (Justice, pg 105) When both of the children are shy, the girl sees him as the only boyfriend
she will ever have and becomes flirtatious. The two could also have mutual admiration, and then
become sexually attracted to each other. This leads into the most rarely reported incest of the four.

An Article On The Iphone 6s And 6s Plus
With the recent release of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, I have been looking at my iPhone 5s like it s time
to upgrade to the newest model. I found this assignment to be super helpful, because I would be
researching the new iPhone and I was going to do that anyway. I searched on the National Newspaper
Core website and read an article from the Wall Street Journal. This article was a summary that
discussed the main issues with the previous iPhone, and the improvements to solve those problems.
The second article I read, was an article from TechRadar and it was the complete opposite of the Wall
Street Journal Article. This article was 10 pages long and discussed all specifications of the new
phones in great detail and length. It was interesting because the first article had a very friendly tone
even though it was discussing some unresolved issues with the phone. But, it still made me think
purchasing the phone was a good decision. Whereas, the TechRadar article had a much different tone,
which made it seem like the phone did not live up to the elevated price and may not be a good
investment.
The Wall Street Journal article was titled iPhone 6s Review: A Slightly Better iPhone 6; the iPhone 6s
addresses most of our smartphone complaints, but not the biggest better battery . The title alone shows
support of the device and that it is improved from the previous models. In this article, the author
addresses two of the major issues with the previous model, (IPhone 6), which

Oprah Winfrey and Pip from Great Expectation Stive for...
Oprah Winfrey is arguably the most recognized person in the entire world. According to Forbes
Magazine in 2009, Winfrey was worth around 2.9 billion dollars (citation). Oprah has her own
television network and magazine line. However, Oprah didn t start out with all this money and fame.
Oprah Winfrey was born in a poverty ridden town in Mississippi. As a child, she used potato sacks as
clothing and she lived in a very bad household filled with abusiveness and hate. She realized she was
better then that and decided to go live with her father. From there on out she bettered her education
and became an honor student. This shaped her into the media mogul she is today. Oprah Winfrey had
the need for self improvement. Pip, the main character in the novel Great Expectations, had that same
need for self improvement. The need for self improvement is the most prevalent theme in Great
Expectations. Pip s need for self improvement is depicted in his battles with three main conflicts: man
versus society, man versus man, and man versus self. Throughout Great Expectations it is evident
that Pip was the antagonist in his own life. The first time the audience sees Pip battle with himself is
his first encounter with Estella. The moment he sees her, he realizes he has to win her heart. However,
he soon finds out that winning over her heart will be a difficult challenge that he will have to workout
himself. Estella s guardian, Miss Havisham, introduces the two and instantly Estella rejected

  • 2. Hillbilly Elegy Literary Analysis The novel, Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance was eye opening about the poverty situation currently facing the Appalachia people. Vance brings the culture surrounding the community and the government s effect on the people s situation down to a level even the strictest Republican or Democrat can empathize with the situation. The issue surrounding low income families is not that the government doesn t provide enough assistance, but that the culture does not promote the same success potential as the wealthy culture does. The assistance provided to these communities needs to be restructured to help build up the community not just put a band aid on the situation. It is essential to note that Vance believes that government interference with the poor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead, it involves the community s ability to change the culture around their children. He talks about resilient children able to prosper in low income environments because they have the support of a loving adult. The community has to step up by creating an environment that encourages success, whether that be in a trade or by going to college. Vance is a prime example of how his community, not the government, propelled him out of poverty. Vance was on path to continue in the cycle his mother had created. She bounced from man to man, was arrested and in rehab multiple times, and was angry most of the time. Vance s grandparents pushed him to get through school with good grades. He then went into the marines, where he learned to get out of his community s sense of learned helplessness. He then worked his way through Ohio State and Yale law school, while meeting his beautiful wife. He overcame several occasions that his background could have prevented him from succeeding in his profession. Vance attributes this success to his grandparents who pushed him through school, his marine supervisors that guided him through difficult decisions, his advisor at Yale that gave him life changing advice, and his sister who was a constant support and role ... • 4. Chin Torn Apart Or Mended By The Rule Of Zedong China: Torn Apart Or Mended By The Rule Of Mao Zedong There is controversy whether the rule of Mao Zedong was beneficial or destructive, though by looking into the depths of history the answer is revealed. As Mao Zedong took control over China on October 1, 1949, he immediately installed many reformations to China s economy, culture, and government. These reformations proved to be devastating towards the people of China. After decolonization Mao Zedong s enforcement of communism and international isolation lead China into attempting industrialization by imposing labor intensive methods, and preventing China from technologically advancing. During the beginning of the twentieth century China had become a republic after the rule of Sun ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Chiang s decision to focus his military on the Communists turned out to be a poor choice because, while the Chinese were occupied with their internal conflicts, the Japanese set up the puppet state of Manchukuo in 1932 ( China ). The invasion of Japan was devastating for China; civilians were murdered, raped, tortured, military groups were destroyed, and the government went bankrupt. The Sino Japanese war finally ended when Tokyo surrendered to the Allies in 1945 at the end of World War II (Kenley, Republican China ). This lead to the continuation of conflict between the Guomindang and the Communists. The war turned in favor of the communists, forcing Chiang and his followers to retreat to the island province of Taiwan (Kenley, Republican China ). On October 1, 1949, Mao Zedong proclaimed the People s Republic of China after taking domination over China s mainland (Kenley, Republican China ). Mao Zedong continued to rule China under Communist rule and started to transform the former Republican China. • 5. Examples Of Eros In Medea Caitlyn Santos Comparative Literature 2AW Professor King 15 November 2014 The Many Forces of Eros Eros expresses the feeling of sexual arousal produced by the physical attraction between two people. In Plato s Phaidros, he describes the development of the soul during the process of gaining knowledge through the experience of love. The progression of love introduces the growth from immortality to morality in the aspects of gaining self control. The strength gained from the force of love elevates ones soul into a more divine realm. The use of winged horses in the story depicts divinity, while the tragedy between Medea and Jason depict the mortal realm. Plato focuses on one of the most powerful aspects of love and its ability to effects the lifestyle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The art of passion is very beautiful, but only when it is appreciated correctly. Plato, by straying away from the norm, approached the power of eros in a much more pure way. By forming a better appreciation of the act of falling in love rather than the act of making love, Plato reestablished the importance of inner beauty, disregarding the physical attribute of love. When sitting with a significant other they often ask, Why do you like me? It is found then that often, finding the best handful of words is quite hard. Plato s emphasis on self awareness allows people to reflect before acting, think before speaking, and understand before judging. Plato s arguments are quite helpful in not only approaching a time of sexual discomfort, but anytime that requires analyzing a problem or conflict. Although passionate love for someone or something can be quite overwhelming, Plato provides insight and guidance to those who have never experienced it. The pure form of love is one s passionate desire for another. In order to preserve that pureness Plato practices the act of self control and the ability to appreciate the beauty before approaching it. The themes that Plato s texts give are different perspectives on approaching love and in more modern times, the act of dating. Plato demonstrates this theme, but in a more extreme manner. Plato demonstrates eros as a passionate force between two people as chemistry . This chemistry grows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The case against Judicial Review Essay The Case Against Judicial Review In order to make a case against judicial review it is first important to understand the origins. Born in 1803 out of the landmark United States Supreme Court decision of Marbury V. Madison, judicial review gives the court the power to invalidate any law repugnant (or in conflict with) to the constitution. Judicial review has for the courts, become a self made license to strike down legitimately made legislation by democratically elected representatives. It has been a tool to restrain laws that are in the bill stage by the threat that if the bill materializes into law then at its first challenge the court will strike it down. In a democratically elected society it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is exemplified by an individual who has brought a case through the court or legal system. Now that its at the U.S. Supreme Court the person seeks to have the words under God removed from the pledge of allegiance (the success of this case is unlikely because of how the court has a conservative right wing majority). Another example of a group with their own agenda undermining democracy is the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union). The ACLU is seeking to repeal the Bush administration s highly touted Patriot Act. This is an example of a group that is making it their mission to skirt the proper channels of American democracy and use the judiciary to get sweeping policy change with or without the consent of the governed people. Judicial review has become the tool of choice for all the public interest law firms. It is through judicial review they are able to get (properly enacted) laws struck down or thrown out. Judicial review goes from being a tool with the intent of protecting the constitution to manipulating the legitimately enacted laws. In conclusion of the second argument against judicial review, it is inappropriate for individuals and groups to have the ability to make frivolous attacks on laws that are democratically enacted. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to clog the judiciary with requests such as removing under God from the pledge of allegiance when they should speak to their congressman or senator over the ... • 8. The Evil of Human Trafficking Introduction Human Trafficking is one of the most heinous crimes that operate over transnational boundaries. The act of human trafficking is highlighted as a criminalized activity according to the article 5 of the Trafficking in Persons Protocol set out by United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime. While Human Trafficking is generally attributed to the Less Developed Countries. This is because the socio economic dynamics along with weaker law and order situation provide a strong environment for this activity to take place. That said the developed countries have an equally important role to play in the prevalence of Human Trafficking. What is Human Trafficking? As implied by the word, and in simple words, human trafficking involves smuggling of human individuals across Trans national boundaries. However, over the years it has been realized that there are far more other angles to human trafficking beyond mere smuggling. For this reason, the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime has given a comprehensive definition of human trafficking under the article 3 of its Trafficking in Persons Protocol. According to the definition given by the United Nations, the act of human trafficking involves, recruiting, transporting, harboring, transferring or receiving of persons by means of fraud, exploitation, force, coercion, threat, deception, or offering of some kind of unlawful benefits (Potts, 2003). In Judith Ortiz Cofer s A Partial Remembrance of a Puerto Rican Childhood (rpt. In Santi V. Buscemi and Charlotte Smith, 75 Readings Plus, 10th ed. [New York: McGraw Hill, 2013] 67 71) it is clear how a good storyteller such as Mama can capture the attention her audience. Cofer s grandmother often tells these cuentos to her daughters and granddaughters over afternoon coffee. These stories are used as an indirect way for Mama to teach her family the values and lessons that she has learned throughout her life. With her family members, Mama s presence demands a universal respect. Everyone in the room listens to what Mama has to say, even if it s not what they want to hear. Mama is the absolute leader among the women her family and her opinions are held in high regard. How Did Ancient Greece Influence Modern Society The Influence of Greece on Modern Society Greece and Rome have both heavily contributed to modern society, some of their contributions being architecture, knowledge, and tendencies in government. Without these two ancient civilizations, we might not be as technologically advanced as we are today. Although ancient Romans invented so many important things like aqueducts and roads, the ancient Greeks were more prominent in influencing modern culture. Some may argue that Rome has much more influence on modern societies, but the interesting thing about Rome is that it was heavily influenced by Greece. Ancient Greece was at its peak with art and religion around 800 B.C. to 500 B.C., and ancient Rome came around during early 700 B.C. Ancient Rome adapted many of the same ideals that ancient Greece had, like their polytheistic religion and their type of government. Essentially, ancient Greece was the stepping stone that began all of these ancient characteristics and influenced ancient Rome. The person centred theory of counselling proposes that everyone has the ability to become a fully functioning person. Reaching this goal should be a focal objective in therapy. The main hypothesis of rational emotive behaviour therapy is that emotions branch primarily from an individual s beliefs, which then effects the interpretations they make of the responses to life situations. This foundational idea on which person centred therapy is built on is known as an actualising tendency (Cain, 2002). The person centred theory was responsible for a major change in focus of therapy by concentrating on the person, rather than on their current issues (Cain, 2002). It was also helpful that there were examples provided during the presentation to allow for a real life experiences in the workforce, making everything more relatable to each individual in its own unique way. There were also instances where trainees were asked questions and to engage them throughout the process of training. Puppy mills are commercial breeding facilities that mass produce dogs for sale through pet stores, or directly to consumers through classifies ads or the internet. It is important to know that, in many cases, puppy mills are not illegal. In most states, a breeding kennel can legally keep dozens, even hundreds, of dogs in cages for their entire lives, as longs as the dogs are given the basics of food, water, and shelter. The federal Animal Welfare Act passed in 1966, requires breeders who have more than three breeding female dogs and sell puppies to pet stores or puppy brokers to be licensed and inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In most cases, the standards that breeders are required to meet by law are extremely minimal. In puppy mills, female dogs are bred about twice a year until they can no longer produce puppies. • 34. An Article On The Iphone 6s And 6s Plus With the recent release of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, I have been looking at my iPhone 5s like it s time to upgrade to the newest model. I found this assignment to be super helpful, because I would be researching the new iPhone and I was going to do that anyway. I searched on the National Newspaper Core website and read an article from the Wall Street Journal. This article was a summary that discussed the main issues with the previous iPhone, and the improvements to solve those problems. The second article I read, was an article from TechRadar and it was the complete opposite of the Wall Street Journal Article. This article was 10 pages long and discussed all specifications of the new phones in great detail and length. It was interesting because the first article had a very friendly tone even though it was discussing some unresolved issues with the phone. But, it still made me think purchasing the phone was a good decision. Whereas, the TechRadar article had a much different tone, which made it seem like the phone did not live up to the elevated price and may not be a good investment. The Wall Street Journal article was titled iPhone 6s Review: A Slightly Better iPhone 6; the iPhone 6s addresses most of our smartphone complaints, but not the biggest better battery . The title alone shows support of the device and that it is improved from the previous models. In this article, the author addresses two of the major issues with the previous model, (IPhone 6), which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
