The Stereotypes Against Tattoos
As time progresses, the stigma against tattooing has evolved, taking on many subject positions
including social class, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and age. Each subject position has developed
through the Ancient, Modern, and Postmodern eras. Some subject positions on tattoos, like the five
mentioned before, have invoked anxiety in society across eras, altering the cultural discourse of
contemporary society.
The tattoo fashion statement s origin from the Ancient Era in European cultures was far from
appealing. At that time, tattooing was viewed as a mark of infamy or a moral blot (Caplan 1). This
social blot gave rise to the divisions of social class. On all slaves in the Orient, and on fugitive slaves
in Greece and Rome the stigmata ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One Indian ethnic group even thought [t]attoos [as] the only jewels a girl [could] [take] to her grave
(van Dinter, 119). Many of these ethnicities revered tattooing as a prestigious process, marking
important events in one s life, like coming of age ceremonies and marriage. For instance, in Indian
ethnic culture, women used temporary Henna tattoos during weddings. Ethnicities in India
traditionally used [Henna] for celebrations and right of passage
(http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/newamericans/culturalriches/art_henna.html) for marriages,
coming of age ceremonies, births, or religious festivals. These tattoos were considered auspicious and
were used by only high caste women. This social custom proves that the tattoo s role in social class
still existed across cultures and ethnicities, but its role in this social hierarchy was a positive one,
unlike the branding usage in the western cultures of the Ancient era. Because lower caste women did
not have access to temporary tattooing, many of them permanently tattooed designs on their hands for
their weddings, to still have the auspicious presence of the art on their hands. This separation between
high and low caste women in the same ethnicity is another example that illustrates the intersection of
the subject positions ethnicity and social class. But as time progressed from the Ancient to the
Postmodern era, the social barriers of using Henna in India diminished significantly. In present day,
Henna is one of the many forms of tattooing that has been culturally appropriated and widely used.
Though its ancient roots are still firmly ingrained in Indian society, western society has changed the
cultural discourse on Henna tattoos by transforming it into a form of fashionable, temporary
adornment without any occasion connections , stirring anxiety in many

Eversource Seacoast Reliability Project Case Study
The Ury et al. reading explains that a dispute resolution is used to diagnose an existing conflict,
analyze how the stakeholders that are involved will interact and influence each other, and determine
what processes are involved in resolving this conflict. The Eversource Seacoast Reliability Project
(ESRP) requires approval from the Site Evaluation Committee (SEC), which means they must go
through the SEC application and approval process. This SEC approval process in itself is a larger
dispute system used to create an open relationship between the stakeholders as well as ensure that the
developer meets all the requirements in the approval process. The ESRP can be dissected into a
smaller dispute system within this SEC approval process with the main conflict of how to create a
more reliable energy transmission line in the Seacoast area without drastically impacting the unique
environment in the area. This is the main conflict that the proposed ... Show more content on

stakeholders are working on this issue including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), but they
have not done an environmental assessment to address this issue. I think I will be able to find more

the engineering company to produce information pertaining to specific impacts that this project might

Disadvantages Of Binoculars
Most people normally like touring places at one time or another. You will note that most tourist
normally buy a pair of binoculars among other things. These equipment can help you bring objects
that are far away closer to your eyes. This enables you to focus on them well and even distinguish
them even though they are far away from you. You will note that not all people own a pair of
binoculars. It is actually an investment for some people. If you choose to buy a pair of binoculars, you
should consider a number of factors. These include:
1. Budget
Once you choose to buy a pair of binoculars, you will be prepared to spend some amount of money. It
is important that you choose a good pair of binoculars for yourself. However, these binoculars usually
have different prices. If you have money, you can choose to go for the pair of binoculars of your
dreams. However, if you are operating on a budget, you should go for the one that suits your budget.
This can greatly help you save money. It is important that you get the value for your money. You
should check the respective prices and choose the one that suits your needs.
2. Quality
There are several types of binoculars out there. Some of these binoculars are of good quality while
others are of bad quality. It is important that you choose a quality pair of binoculars. You will note that

going for a tour and so on. However, they may not be very effective. The images may appear too
small. On the other end, big binoculars can provide quality images but can be too cumbersome to

Rhetorical Analysis Mccarthy The Road
Nikita Patel
COMP 111.B12
02/28/2017
The language of the Road By McCarthy is scant yet poetic and morally inspiring. The text is
composed not of chapters but of discrete, punctuated paragraphs that mirror the movements of the
father and son on their journey. McCarthy s writing style reflects sparseness in that he chooses to write
in fragments and he keeps the father s and son s dialogue very choppy. Authors style of narrating this
story is very scrappy and sparse, which describes the infertile and miserable land through which the
man and boy are traveling. In the book we noticed, McCarthy makes less use of quotation and
apostrophes. There are no brakes through dialogues. Because this is a post apocalyptic story, the
exception of these punctuation basics might help as a way of author to show that in this new world,
fragments of the old world such as materialistic objects and humanity exists in scarce amount.
McCarthy s narrative voice is powerful and completely shapes the stories he tells. The story begins
with the man and boy making their journey along the road. The story is set in a post apocalyptic
world, date and place are unnamed. One can assume it is somewhere in America, most of the South,
because the man tells the boy that they re walking the state roads (43). Neither the man nor the boy is

Often it sounds like the Man (the father) is narrating the story. There are long paragraphs describing
the man s thoughts, memories, and perceptions. Then it will be a general discussion, but brief. It
employs a third person narration that is generally omniscient that allows the author a great deal of
freedom, and he can move from one character to another. He can change to more objective description
of setting. The Road employs the narrative shifts that emphasize the character s moral compass, as
well as the metaphorical nature of the so called

The Strength of an Electromagnet Essay
The Strength of an Electromagnet
Introduction:
[IMAGE]An electric current flowing through a wire produces a magnetic field. Coiling the wire
produces a stronger magnetic field. Coiling it around a soft iron core increases the strength effect;
raising the current or the number of coils increases it further.
I am going to investigate the raising of the current and how it affects an electromagnet.
I think the electromagnet will produce a stronger magnetic filed and pick up more iron fillings.
Aim:
To investigate factors which affect the strength of the electromagnet and make the strongest
electromagnet possible.
Apparatus:
· Iron Rod
· Leads
· Power Pack ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The higher the voltage means the size of current will increase too. The stronger the magnetic field, the
more filings will be attracted by the electromagnet. When the coils will be evenly spread across the
rod, the current across the rod and the magnetic field will be even.
Method:
The apparatus will be set up to form a circuit, as below:
I will use an iron rod and make (5) coils around the rod with a piece of wire. They will be spread as
evenly as possible across the rod. The ends of the wire will then be connected to the circuit with
crocodile clips. The voltage on the power pack will be turned onto 0.5 amps. As this is the ampere
reading from the power pack, it may not be exactly 0.5A, which is why a voltmeter has been added so
the actual number of amps could be measured each time. This will also be written in the results table.
When the current is switched on, I will hold the rod from one end and put the other end into a beaker
full of iron filings, allowing it to pick up as many filings as possible. The mass of the nails picked up
will be weighed on an electronic scale and recorded. This will be repeated 2 times so a precise average
can be taken. The same experiment will be carried out, increasing the voltage by 0.5 amps each time,
up to 7 amps. All of these will be written to 1 decimal point.

bell hooks is successful in delivering her message in article Learning in the Shadow of Race and Class
because she gives examples of herself as well as examples of other students who she has known. She
argues that lower class students were ignored by their teachers and peers. Although, few sentences and
paragraphs in her article are not as effective as the whole article, still reading it is interesting. In her
essay, hooks defends poor people who have been ignored by white people at school. She also explains
her situation when she was studying. She defends poor people, which is what most of the good writers
are doing in order to let their readers know that they are not thinking about getting money or anything
like that. hooks is an effective writer through the use of persuasive examples and emotional appeals. In
her essay, hooks gives many examples about herself and others, about how it feels to be alone, and
poor. That makes her believable. And these examples improved her essay. She says that she stopped
thinking about having money and everything else but the education. She talks about a girl who never
gave up studying, despite some problems she encountered. She talked about specific friends of hers,
for example, Like my friend during freshmen year, she shared the understanding of what it was like to
be a have not in a world of haves. hooks expresses how difficult it was when she was in San

There are just two weeks before opening day and instead of talking about who s going to make each
teams 25 man roster we are talking about what in my opinion is a very stupid controversy involving
former White Sox first baseman Adam Laroche. Laroche retired earlier this week because White Sox
GM Kenny Williams asked him to cut back on the time his son Drake spent in the clubhouse.
First of all, I commend Laroche for sticking to his beliefs of family first and that is something I

Somehow I think if he hit 250 with 25 homers this issue wouldn t even have come about I don t think.
There are some unwritten rules in baseball and I think one of them includes the clubhouse being a
sanctuary allowing the players to be themselves and create that camaraderie and chemistry needed to
help win baseball games. I think having kids in the clubhouse are great because baseball is so
demanding and players live seven months out of a suitcase but I think there has to be some sort of line
drawn or rules in place so this situation doesn t ever become problematic.
The only good thing for the White Sox is it clears 13.1 million financially for the team to spend
elsewhere. Image wise it s terrible because it s going to be a distraction all year answering questions
about a difference in opinion. The White Sox have been very inconsistent the past few seasons and
now they will have this cloud over them when in reality all they wanted to do is focus on winning
baseball games it s a shame it came to this and they are talking about this but that s the reality. I hope

Rhetorical Analysis Of Winston Churchill s We Shall Never...
European land was annihilated and the European countries were all in dispute. Men from all around
stepped up and fought for their country, risking and generally losing their lives to save their loved
ones. This fatal war was known as World War 2, the deadliest war in history. The war took a
devastating toll on many people worldwide, while they watched a majority of their loved ones pass;
many felt defeated, until one man stepped up, Winston Churchill. Winston Churchill pronounced his
We Shall Never Surrender speech on June 4, 1940 at the House of Commons, in the United Kingdom.
He delivered his speech in the aftermath of a successful evacuation of the British forces at Dunkirk,
following the German Army attack. Churchill s uplifting words gave the nation hope and a sense of
pride, which had been lost during the brutal war. Through imagery and repetition, Winston Churchill
delivered his theme in his speech, We Shall Never Surrender , that no matter the hardships and defeats
that a nation might experience, to not lose hope and to unite together in order to gain strength.

to that of the industrial revolution. The internet revolution or the information age has fundamentally
changed the way the world is run in every facet. Every industry has adapted or been revolutionised by
the information age, with media being no exception. As new forms of media emerged, concepts such

Hyperthyroidism is usually treatable and sometimes it may go away naturally. However, a patient with
hyperthyroidism due to an autoimmune disorder such as Grave s Disease usually gets worse and will

Amputation Specialist
The field surgeon became regarded as an amputation specialist. He must remove any damaged limb
that might allow infection to travel from the wound to the rest of the body. The intimations for the

that entered the joint, uncontrolled bleeding, 3) irreparable lacerations of major blood vessels or
nerves, crushed tissue and any foreign bodies that were too deep or too difficult to remove (Kuz 16).

The Importance Of Language Creation
How are languages created? Why are there so many different languages being created? Some
languages are constantly undergoing changes, and some languages disappear fairly quickly. What
determines when a language will emerge and how it will change over time? While the key factor for
language creation is the need for communication on a small scale among individuals, the pressures for
language change mainly come from societal changes on a broader scale.
The need for communication in a small community is the most important factor for and directly
contributes to language creation. It is worthwhile to consider how human language started to develop
initially. When our ape like ancestors started to live together in communities instead of scattering
themselves in forests, a desperate need for communication emerged. Besides the fact that they needed
feet to walk and hands to hunt for food, they also needed some special mechanism to understand and
communicate with others who lived and worked in the same community: a language (Cen 16 17). Fast
forward in history, new languages are often created under the same spirit. One of the best pieces of
evidence we have for how language emerges is in deaf communities: homesign and village sign
language are two of the examples. Homesign system, a self created system of communication used by
deaf individuals who have not been exposed to a sign language (Brentari 364), is created uniformly
among deaf individuals who are not exposed to any spoken or sign language as a means of
communicating with their parents and other family members. With that being said, homesign is not
simply a system of co speaking gestures, gestures that accompany speech, because homesigners are
not modeling their gestures after the co speech gestures their hearing parents provide (Brentari 366).
Rather, homesign shows certain linguistic properties called the resilient properties of language
because they can be developed without input from a language model (Brentari 366). Constituent
structure, for example, developed among homesigners from the United States, China, and Turkey
despite the fact that each homesigner is developing his or her system alone (Brentari 367). The
resilient properties, it is fair to

Sorrow And Grief In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet, one of many Shakespeare tragedy plays, reveals that Shakespeare thinks love brings
sorrow and grief. The play tells a story about two star crossed lovers named Romeo and Juliet, who
live in two different households that hate each other. Many problems arise with Romeo and Juliet
loving each other, but being enemies in nature. The story is told by many characters, including Romeo
and Juliet. Through this, Shakespeare uses dramatic irony, repetition of epithets, and pathos to show
how love brings sorrow and grief. Dramatic irony is seen throughout the whole play many times, but
one time stands out when the main character Romeo slays Tybalt, kinsmen to the Capulets (Juliet s
Family), out of sheer anger. Consequently, Romeo was banished. Said in the play by Paris, he stated,
Immoderately she weeps for Tybalt s death, And therefore have I little talk of love (Rom.IV.i.6/7).
Paris thinks that Juliet weeps for Tybalt being slain, but instead is weeping for Romeo who was
banished from Verona. Following the banishment incident, Juliet remained in a coma like death that
she put herself into not marry Paris, but everyone thought of Juliet being dead, even Romeo. By her
tomb, Romeo spoke, Beauty s ensign yet is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks (Rom.V.iii.94/95).
The coma was to end and she was to wake any minute that Romeo went to Juliet, nevertheless Romeo
didn t know of the potion that put her in the coma. Full of grief, Romeo proceeded to kill himself even
though he noticed that Juliet looked well alive. Previously, when Romeo was banished and Juliet in
the coma, many examples of repetition of epithets happened during those scenes. Romeo and Juliet
has many characters expressing their sorrow with the repeated use of adjectives to describe their or
another s state. When Tybalt was killed, many wept for their kinsmen including the nurse of the
Capulet s. The nurse exclaims, We are undone, lady, we are undone. Alack the day, he s gone, he s
killed, he s dead (Rom.III.ii.43/44). The nurse repeatedly states about Tybalt being killed and is dead.
She is so stricken by grief that she doesn t say who was killed and Juliet gets confused about who got
killed, Tybalt, Romeo, or both. Soon after,

considered as infinite, inspiring, unchanging and shapeless. Shiva has many compassionate and
formidable depictions. Shiva is the benefactor of yoga, meditation and arts. When Shiva is in his fierce

The Causes And Cons Of Chemistry In Chemistry
After completion of the transesterification reaction employed at the optimal conditions, the catalyst
was collected from the reactant mixture by filtration; the catalyst was washed with hexane several
times to remove the adhered oil particles, and then dried at 110°C for 2 hr. The catalyst was reused
several times without further treatment to obtain FAME from WCSO.
To evaluate catalyst stability, the optimum amount of CaO that was obtained by examining the
operating condition was stirred with 38ml methanol at the optimum conditions obtained. After the
catalyst was separated, methanol was mixed with 30 ml WCSO and the reaction was carried out under
the optimum conditions, 65°C, methanol: oil ratio 30:1, 3 hr. and 300 rpm.
3. Results and discussion
3.1 Catalyst characterization
The synthesized CaO catalyst was subjected to different temperatures and times of calcination. The
calcination time and temperature change the catalyst structure; consequently, this affects catalyst
activity and the concentration of FAMEs produced. The impact of different calcination temperatures,
700 °C, 750 °C, 800 °C, 850 °C, and 900 °C, and durations, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 hr, were tested for the
transesterification of WCSO to produce biodiesel. The eggshell powder showed an apparent color
different from the color before calcination as shown in Figure 1. Table 3 shows that exposing egg shell
powder to a longer time and higher temperature of calcination results in a lighter white color. Being

Phonological Perspectives On Language Development
Language development can be defined as how children improve their language skills during their
childhood. This topic has resulted in many disagreements between language experts. The
disagreement is whether genetic or environment effects our development. This is referred as the nature
and nurture conflict. Nature is the characteristics we inherit through our genes (McLeod, 2016).
Nurture is the influence of external factors (McLeod, 2016). Language experts have different views on
how children develop their language. There are six theoretical perspectives on language acquisition,
these are behavioural, nativist, maturational, cognitive development, social interactionist and
neurobiological perspectives. Nature and nurture play an equal role ... Show more content on

When children are 8 18 months they say their first words, there is a variation because of
environmental influences and genetic. They comprehend the meaning of around 10,000 words by the
age of six (Berk, 2013, p. 376). According to social interactionist perspective children s nature and
their language and social worlds influences how quick and how much their early language develops
(Fellowes and Oakley, 2014, p. 51). Studies illustrates girls early vocabulary growth is ahead of boys.
The biological explanation for this is that girls mature faster physically, which develops the cerebral
hemisphere of girls earlier (Berk, 2013, 377). Children s language development does not occur by
maturity only. Adults play a major role in children s semantic development. Children who are not
getting enough quality parent child interaction have a lower vocabulary, as the amount of vocabulary
they learn is due to their literacy experiences at home. Children s first words are words that are
familiar to them typically include people, objects that move, foods, animals, familiar actions,
outcomes of such actions and social terms (Berk, 2013, p. 376). Therefore social support is critical in
order to help in the child s language development, according to Bruner s concept of a language
acquisition support system (LASS) (Fellowes and Oakley, 2014). As pre schoolers listen to different

Boeing 787 Case Analysis
System viewpoints regards the organization as a system interrelated parts , can be considered a system
with many parts/departments that contributes to its organization to becoming successful. A systems
viewpoint includes four parts Inputs, Transformation processes, Output and Feedback which all are
important in a company. In the article Boeing especially displayed all systems to become a better
company. Throughout this paper I will be discussing how Boeing Company tries to get their company
back in order, starting with management involvement, suppliers and elaborating how management
methods plays a role in a company s outcome.
After reading the WSJ Boeing 787 article I was able to get a better understanding of what was going
good and bad within the company. Boeing is an overall good company but they were having
difficulties producing enough jets along with supplies coming in on time. Vaupell Holdings Inc.
Supplier of Boeing is in need of change in their system. Boeing has become more involved as a
company sending engineers to examine products for planes and jets. In my opinion Boeing as a
company is showing Quality control minimizing errors by managing each stage of production which
calls for engineers to examine supplies before they carry forward with making planes.
Boeing is trying to change the past and prove themselves to the world they can also keep up. Boeing
has won a series of contracts hope to make 300 more jets a year with their new plan. In the past they

Bandura Social Influence
Social influence contains the ability to change the way a person reacts to a situation. An individual can
adapt to a situation based on their surroundings. This type of influence begins as early as childhood
when the mind is most vulnerable to learning. To test the vulnerability of a child s mind, an
experiment was conducted by Bandura, who theorized the process of social learning. In the study, 36
boys and girls of ages three to six were observed after they viewed a video on a model aggressively
attacking a Bobo doll. After the children observed the aggressive model, the children imitated similar
actions. According to the results, Children learn social behavior such as aggression through the
process of observation learning through watching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When they were interviewed after the experiment, most of them said they did not really believe their
conforming answers, but had gone along with the group for fear of being ridiculed or thought peculiar
(McLeod). The participants complied with the majority against their correct judgment to not stand out,
or because they felt less informed compared to the rest of the group. As a result of approving the
erroneous answer, it can negatively impact society. For example, in the 1950s, the United States was
in a time of fear of communism, and people were wrongly accused of being a communist (McLeod).
Nevertheless, no individuals carried the bravery to speak out against the wrongdoing in fear of
accusation. If the United States were to repeat events like the 1950s, communal influence can
overpower the rationality of the people. In both the Bobo doll experiment and the conformity
experiment, the studies expose the true power of social influence; it possesses the ability to encourage
an individual to act a certain way in different

Hrsthouse Virtue Theory And Abortion Summary
Hurthouse Reading Summary
Virtue Theory, following the guidelines of what a virtuous agent would do.What are the guidelines and
what does it even mean? In Virtue Theory and Abortion , written by Hursthouse the author elaborates
on how virtue theory a concept that is becoming well aware against deontological and utilitarian
theories. The essay is divided into two parts. In the first part Hursthouse presents these theories, and
then argues seven criticisms towards the virtue theory. In the second part of the essay, the author
expands the understanding of virtue theory by applying it to a moral issue, abortion. Hursthouse, states
she is not going to unravel the conflict of abortion, rather implement the virtue theory and how it will
guide us on the way we view abortion.
Hursthouse presents an outline of these ethical approaches. First, deontology premise one the action is
right if it follows the guideline of a moral rule or principle , and premise two a correct moral is either
required by rationality or the rational acceptance from behind the veil of ignorance and so on... . Then
she presents act utilitarianism, premise one the action is correct if it comes out with the best outcome,
and premise two if the best outcomes presents that happiness is maximized . Finally, the author
presents virtue theory. Virtue theory, the action is correct if it is what a virtuous agent what do in the
circumstances . She then explains what a virtuous person is, and discusses how a virtuous

The Tell Tale Heart Essay
The Tell Tale Heart
The Tell Tale Heart is a story about a man who killed an old man just because he didn t like the way
his eyes looked like. The main character speaks about madness as being a gift and not a kid of
disability for example in paragraph one on page 93 he says: but why would you say that I am mad?
The disease had sharpened my senses not destroyed not dulled them . The mad man killed the old man
and then cut him up and put him under the floorboards of the house.
The fruit at the bottom of the bowl is a story about a man (William Acton) who killed his neighbour
(Huxley) because he thought that Huxley was having an affair with his wife. Acton strangles Huxley
and then he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think Acton maybe feels a little bit guilty and is very paranoid about the whole murder unlike in The
Tell Tale Heart where the murder is very confident about what he had done and planned the whole
murder whereas Acton didn t really plan to kill Huxley, but Acton in his mind thought that Huxley
knew all along that he was going to get murdered. Acton thought that Huxley planned to get murdered
and so told Acton to touch a lot of stuff in the house for example on page 83 Huxley said: There s a
bottle of burgundy, Acton. Mind fetching it from that cabinet?
Yes, fetch it. Handle it. Touch it. He did.
Than Acton thought that Huxley was basically setting him up. Once Acton strangled Huxley he had
started to clean the house of fingerprints. That was all fine and well but Acton didn t clean only the
door knobs, glasses, cup and things like that which he touched he cleaned the whole house the walls,
the couch absolutely everything which was a sign of big paranoia from Acton.
The character in The Tell Tale Heart had a lot of conversations throughout the story but all the
conversations were to himself. The things that the character talked about were very strange. He talked
about how every night at midnight for the last week he came to check on

How The Family Influence In Joyce Carol Oates Where Are...
In Joyce Carol Oates Where are you going, where have you been, family influence is shown to be a
key factor in the molding of a child s character, who they are. Connie, the protagonist of Oates short
story, missed out on this key due to lack in positive family influence. Connie, insecure and vulnerable,
was led straight into the arms of Arnold, because her family belittled her, caused her dual personality
and omitted proper guidance.
First of all, Connie s parents played no role in improving her self image. Connie s mother, having aged
out of her prime, was jealous of her daughter s beauty, criticizing her whenever the opportunity
presented itself. Connie s mother would yell at her younger daughter, Stop gawking at yourself, who
are you? You think you re so pretty? (312). This constant scolding chipped away at Connie s
confidence, leaving her yearning for affirmation, someone to say she is such a pretty girl ... Show

often, not because they provided temporary entertainment to kill time, but to watch as boys want her.
One night in midsummer they ran across [to a restaurant], breathless with daring, and right away
someone leaned out a car window and invited them over, but it was just a boy from high school they
didn t like. It made them feel good to be able to ignore him (313). Knowing that someone wanted her
satisfied her need to be praised. However, this left her vulnerable to people who prayed on the
insecurities of others. Arnold Friend was quick to discover the psychological conflict of living a split

Leadership And Servant Leadership In The Galileo Seven
In the episode The Galileo Seven , Mr. Spock is in command of a space shuttle craft, which crash
lands on a hostile alien planet. His leadership style and behaviour cause conflict and resentment
amongst the crew of the shuttle craft, as he battles to extract them from the alien planet. Ultimately, he
could save the remaining crew and himself and get back to the USS Enterprise.
The leadership style of Spock can be analysed using several leadership theories that was introduced
during the lecture series such as Trait Approach, Skills Approach, Behavioural Approach,
Transactional Transformational Leadership, Situational/Contingency Approach, Path Goal Theory,
Authentic Leadership and Servant Leadership.
Looking at the Trait Approach it assumes that Leaders are exceptional people, born with innate
qualities, destined to lead. Considering the background of Mr. Spock he was not considered as a first
choice for leadership because captain Kirk was presumed to be better suited for leadership according
to this leadership theory. However, as a lot of other theories suggest a leader cannot be only assessed
by innate qualities. In the mid 20th century, the trait approach was challenged by research that
questioned the universality of leadership traits. Stogdill (1948) suggested that no consistent set of
traits differentiated leaders from non leaders across a variety of situations. (Nothhouse, 2016)
(Stogdill, 1948)
Considering the Skills approach it suggests that leadership is not only about innate characteristics.
Several skills and abilities which can be learned and developed helps a person to become a better
leader.
Based on field research Katz (1955) suggested that effective administration (i.e., leadership) depends
on three basic personal skills: technical, human, and conceptual. Technical skill is knowledge about
and proficiency in a specific type of work or activity. Human skill is knowledge about and ability to
work with people. Conceptual skills are the ability to work with ideas and concepts. (Northhouse,
2016) (Katz, 1955)
Considering the case of Mr. Spock; in my opinion Mr. Spock was very well equipped with both
Technical skills and Conceptual Skills which helped him to be a successful leader. However, he

Forced Child Prostitution
Forced child prostitution is all over the world. However I am talking specifically about human
trafficking overseas. This is one of the most known places for Child Prostitution. Children are being
snatched and forced to do drugs and sell their bodies to make money for the pimp s. This is an issue to
our country because our children are being kidnapped. We really can t do much here because they are
extremely hard to find. When you re running a business like this you have to make sure you never get
caught because if they find you, there will be hell to pay. The least penalty there is for forced child
prostitution is life in prison. Keep reading as I start to unravel different facts you may or may not have
known about forced child prostitution in Europe. Human trafficking is the trade in humans, most
commonly for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation for the
trafficker or others, or for the extraction of organs or tissues, including surrogacy and ova removal
(Unknown, 2011). Children ages eleven to eighteen are usually the ones taken into forced child
prostitution. In some countries they are younger than that. These children are kidnapped from all over
the world and sold to pimps to make them work for them. In some places they don t want the children
to be older than eighteen. If they are older they are usually killed on their nineteenth birthday.

Guilt In Macbeth
Macbeth is a classic play about a man in Scotland who kills the King to have power but, ends up

he talks to the imaginary dagger. Before Macbeth enters the castle to kill King Duncan, Macbeth says,
It is the bloody business which informs/ Thus to mine eyes (Shakespeare 2.1.48 49). This shows that
Macbeth is already feeling guilty about killing King Duncan before he even did it. Even though
Macbeth was loyal to Duncan, he is so power hungry that he irrationally kills his leader. Secondly,

Loneliness In Of Mice And Men
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck portrays loneliness in many ways. A great deal of people are
lonely throughout the whole book. Evidence shows that when our requirement for social connections

irregular. A few examples of people that are lonely in Of Mice and Men include, Candy, Curley s wife,
and Crooks. Steinbeck shows loneliness through racism, sexism, and ageism. Crooks has an extremely
valid reason to be lonely. Of Mice and Men takes place during the depression, which falls in the 1920

  • 2. The Stereotypes Against Tattoos As time progresses, the stigma against tattooing has evolved, taking on many subject positions including social class, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and age. Each subject position has developed through the Ancient, Modern, and Postmodern eras. Some subject positions on tattoos, like the five mentioned before, have invoked anxiety in society across eras, altering the cultural discourse of contemporary society. The tattoo fashion statement s origin from the Ancient Era in European cultures was far from appealing. At that time, tattooing was viewed as a mark of infamy or a moral blot (Caplan 1). This social blot gave rise to the divisions of social class. On all slaves in the Orient, and on fugitive slaves in Greece and Rome the stigmata ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One Indian ethnic group even thought [t]attoos [as] the only jewels a girl [could] [take] to her grave (van Dinter, 119). Many of these ethnicities revered tattooing as a prestigious process, marking important events in one s life, like coming of age ceremonies and marriage. For instance, in Indian ethnic culture, women used temporary Henna tattoos during weddings. Ethnicities in India traditionally used [Henna] for celebrations and right of passage (http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/newamericans/culturalriches/art_henna.html) for marriages, coming of age ceremonies, births, or religious festivals. These tattoos were considered auspicious and were used by only high caste women. This social custom proves that the tattoo s role in social class still existed across cultures and ethnicities, but its role in this social hierarchy was a positive one, unlike the branding usage in the western cultures of the Ancient era. Because lower caste women did not have access to temporary tattooing, many of them permanently tattooed designs on their hands for their weddings, to still have the auspicious presence of the art on their hands. This separation between high and low caste women in the same ethnicity is another example that illustrates the intersection of the subject positions ethnicity and social class. But as time progressed from the Ancient to the Postmodern era, the social barriers of using Henna in India diminished significantly. In present day, Henna is one of the many forms of tattooing that has been culturally appropriated and widely used. Though its ancient roots are still firmly ingrained in Indian society, western society has changed the cultural discourse on Henna tattoos by transforming it into a form of fashionable, temporary adornment without any occasion connections , stirring anxiety in many ... • 3. Eversource Seacoast Reliability Project Case Study The Ury et al. reading explains that a dispute resolution is used to diagnose an existing conflict, analyze how the stakeholders that are involved will interact and influence each other, and determine what processes are involved in resolving this conflict. The Eversource Seacoast Reliability Project (ESRP) requires approval from the Site Evaluation Committee (SEC), which means they must go through the SEC application and approval process. This SEC approval process in itself is a larger dispute system used to create an open relationship between the stakeholders as well as ensure that the developer meets all the requirements in the approval process. The ESRP can be dissected into a smaller dispute system within this SEC approval process with the main conflict of how to create a more reliable energy transmission line in the Seacoast area without drastically impacting the unique environment in the area. This is the main conflict that the proposed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have found some information on the specific technology that will be used to bury the transmission line under the Great Bay, but I think it is important to understand what specific impacts this process will have and if there are alternative solutions to using this technology or technique. Many stakeholders are working on this issue including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), but they have not done an environmental assessment to address this issue. I think I will be able to find more information as I continue to research the project, but it would be beneficial to all the stakeholders for the engineering company to produce information pertaining to specific impacts that this project might cause or even hold a public meeting to further educate the other stakeholders on their technology and ... • 5. Rhetorical Analysis Mccarthy The Road Nikita Patel COMP 111.B12 02/28/2017 The language of the Road By McCarthy is scant yet poetic and morally inspiring. The text is composed not of chapters but of discrete, punctuated paragraphs that mirror the movements of the father and son on their journey. McCarthy s writing style reflects sparseness in that he chooses to write in fragments and he keeps the father s and son s dialogue very choppy. Authors style of narrating this story is very scrappy and sparse, which describes the infertile and miserable land through which the man and boy are traveling. In the book we noticed, McCarthy makes less use of quotation and apostrophes. There are no brakes through dialogues. Because this is a post apocalyptic story, the exception of these punctuation basics might help as a way of author to show that in this new world, fragments of the old world such as materialistic objects and humanity exists in scarce amount. McCarthy s narrative voice is powerful and completely shapes the stories he tells. The story begins with the man and boy making their journey along the road. The story is set in a post apocalyptic world, date and place are unnamed. One can assume it is somewhere in America, most of the South, because the man tells the boy that they re walking the state roads (43). Neither the man nor the boy is given a ... Coiling the wire produces a stronger magnetic field. Coiling it around a soft iron core increases the strength effect; raising the current or the number of coils increases it further. I am going to investigate the raising of the current and how it affects an electromagnet. I think the electromagnet will produce a stronger magnetic filed and pick up more iron fillings. Aim: To investigate factors which affect the strength of the electromagnet and make the strongest electromagnet possible. Apparatus: · Iron Rod · Leads · Power Pack ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The higher the voltage means the size of current will increase too. The stronger the magnetic field, the more filings will be attracted by the electromagnet. When the coils will be evenly spread across the rod, the current across the rod and the magnetic field will be even. Method: The apparatus will be set up to form a circuit, as below: I will use an iron rod and make (5) coils around the rod with a piece of wire. They will be spread as evenly as possible across the rod. The ends of the wire will then be connected to the circuit with crocodile clips. The voltage on the power pack will be turned onto 0.5 amps. As this is the ampere reading from the power pack, it may not be exactly 0.5A, which is why a voltmeter has been added so the actual number of amps could be measured each time. This will also be written in the results table. When the current is switched on, I will hold the rod from one end and put the other end into a beaker full of iron filings, allowing it to pick up as many filings as possible. In her essay, hooks gives many examples about herself and others, about how it feels to be alone, and poor. That makes her believable. And these examples improved her essay. She says that she stopped thinking about having money and everything else but the education. She talks about a girl who never gave up studying, despite some problems she encountered. She talked about specific friends of hers, for example, Like my friend during freshmen year, she shared the understanding of what it was like to be a have not in a world of haves. hooks expresses how difficult it was when she was in San Francisco, and people around her spoke a language she did not understand. ... • 10. Adam Laroche Case Study There are just two weeks before opening day and instead of talking about who s going to make each teams 25 man roster we are talking about what in my opinion is a very stupid controversy involving former White Sox first baseman Adam Laroche. Laroche retired earlier this week because White Sox GM Kenny Williams asked him to cut back on the time his son Drake spent in the clubhouse. First of all, I commend Laroche for sticking to his beliefs of family first and that is something I completely agree with, but bringing your kid to work 100% of the time is a bit ridiculous nowhere in the world does that happen so I completely agree with the White Sox organization in that aspect it s not like he said stop bringing him forever just reduce the amount ... There are some unwritten rules in baseball and I think one of them includes the clubhouse being a sanctuary allowing the players to be themselves and create that camaraderie and chemistry needed to help win baseball games. I think having kids in the clubhouse are great because baseball is so demanding and players live seven months out of a suitcase but I think there has to be some sort of line drawn or rules in place so this situation doesn t ever become problematic. The only good thing for the White Sox is it clears 13.1 million financially for the team to spend elsewhere. Image wise it s terrible because it s going to be a distraction all year answering questions about a difference in opinion. The White Sox have been very inconsistent the past few seasons and now they will have this cloud over them when in reality all they wanted to do is focus on winning baseball games it s a shame it came to this and they are talking about this but that s the reality. • 11. Rhetorical Analysis Of Winston Churchill s We Shall Never... European land was annihilated and the European countries were all in dispute. Men from all around stepped up and fought for their country, risking and generally losing their lives to save their loved ones. This fatal war was known as World War 2, the deadliest war in history. The war took a devastating toll on many people worldwide, while they watched a majority of their loved ones pass; many felt defeated, until one man stepped up, Winston Churchill. Winston Churchill pronounced his We Shall Never Surrender speech on June 4, 1940 at the House of Commons, in the United Kingdom. He delivered his speech in the aftermath of a successful evacuation of the British forces at Dunkirk, following the German Army attack. Churchill s uplifting words gave the nation hope and a sense of pride, which had been lost during the brutal war. • 19. The Importance Of Language Creation How are languages created? Why are there so many different languages being created? Some languages are constantly undergoing changes, and some languages disappear fairly quickly. What determines when a language will emerge and how it will change over time? While the key factor for language creation is the need for communication on a small scale among individuals, the pressures for language change mainly come from societal changes on a broader scale. The need for communication in a small community is the most important factor for and directly contributes to language creation. It is worthwhile to consider how human language started to develop initially. When our ape like ancestors started to live together in communities instead of scattering themselves in forests, a desperate need for communication emerged. Besides the fact that they needed feet to walk and hands to hunt for food, they also needed some special mechanism to understand and communicate with others who lived and worked in the same community: a language (Cen 16 17). Fast forward in history, new languages are often created under the same spirit. One of the best pieces of evidence we have for how language emerges is in deaf communities: homesign and village sign language are two of the examples. Homesign system, a self created system of communication used by deaf individuals who have not been exposed to a sign language (Brentari 364), is created uniformly among deaf individuals who are not exposed to any spoken or sign language as a means of communicating with their parents and other family members. With that being said, homesign is not simply a system of co speaking gestures, gestures that accompany speech, because homesigners are not modeling their gestures after the co speech gestures their hearing parents provide (Brentari 366). Rather, homesign shows certain linguistic properties called the resilient properties of language because they can be developed without input from a language model (Brentari 366). Constituent structure, for example, developed among homesigners from the United States, China, and Turkey despite the fact that each homesigner is developing his or her system alone (Brentari 367). • 21. Sorrow And Grief In Romeo And Juliet Romeo and Juliet, one of many Shakespeare tragedy plays, reveals that Shakespeare thinks love brings sorrow and grief. The play tells a story about two star crossed lovers named Romeo and Juliet, who live in two different households that hate each other. Many problems arise with Romeo and Juliet loving each other, but being enemies in nature. The story is told by many characters, including Romeo and Juliet. Through this, Shakespeare uses dramatic irony, repetition of epithets, and pathos to show how love brings sorrow and grief. Dramatic irony is seen throughout the whole play many times, but one time stands out when the main character Romeo slays Tybalt, kinsmen to the Capulets (Juliet s Family), out of sheer anger. Consequently, Romeo was banished. Said in the play by Paris, he stated, Immoderately she weeps for Tybalt s death, And therefore have I little talk of love (Rom.IV.i.6/7). Paris thinks that Juliet weeps for Tybalt being slain, but instead is weeping for Romeo who was banished from Verona. Following the banishment incident, Juliet remained in a coma like death that she put herself into not marry Paris, but everyone thought of Juliet being dead, even Romeo. By her tomb, Romeo spoke, Beauty s ensign yet is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks (Rom.V.iii.94/95). The coma was to end and she was to wake any minute that Romeo went to Juliet, nevertheless Romeo didn t know of the potion that put her in the coma. Full of grief, Romeo proceeded to kill himself even though he noticed that Juliet looked well alive. Previously, when Romeo was banished and Juliet in the coma, many examples of repetition of epithets happened during those scenes. Romeo and Juliet has many characters expressing their sorrow with the repeated use of adjectives to describe their or another s state. When Tybalt was killed, many wept for their kinsmen including the nurse of the Capulet s. The nurse exclaims, We are undone, lady, we are undone. Alack the day, he s gone, he s killed, he s dead (Rom.III.ii.43/44). The nurse repeatedly states about Tybalt being killed and is dead. The Causes And Cons Of Chemistry In Chemistry After completion of the transesterification reaction employed at the optimal conditions, the catalyst was collected from the reactant mixture by filtration; the catalyst was washed with hexane several times to remove the adhered oil particles, and then dried at 110°C for 2 hr. The catalyst was reused several times without further treatment to obtain FAME from WCSO. To evaluate catalyst stability, the optimum amount of CaO that was obtained by examining the operating condition was stirred with 38ml methanol at the optimum conditions obtained. After the catalyst was separated, methanol was mixed with 30 ml WCSO and the reaction was carried out under the optimum conditions, 65°C, methanol: oil ratio 30:1, 3 hr. and 300 rpm. 3. Results and discussion 3.1 Catalyst characterization The synthesized CaO catalyst was subjected to different temperatures and times of calcination. The calcination time and temperature change the catalyst structure; consequently, this affects catalyst activity and the concentration of FAMEs produced. This topic has resulted in many disagreements between language experts. The disagreement is whether genetic or environment effects our development. When children are 8 18 months they say their first words, there is a variation because of environmental influences and genetic. They comprehend the meaning of around 10,000 words by the age of six (Berk, 2013, p. 376). According to social interactionist perspective children s nature and their language and social worlds influences how quick and how much their early language develops (Fellowes and Oakley, 2014, p. 51). Studies illustrates girls early vocabulary growth is ahead of boys. The biological explanation for this is that girls mature faster physically, which develops the cerebral hemisphere of girls earlier (Berk, 2013, 377). Children s language development does not occur by maturity only. Adults play a major role in children s semantic development. Children who are not getting enough quality parent child interaction have a lower vocabulary, as the amount of vocabulary they learn is due to their literacy experiences at home. Children s first words are words that are familiar to them typically include people, objects that move, foods, animals, familiar actions, outcomes of such actions and social terms (Berk, 2013, p. 376). In Virtue Theory and Abortion , written by Hursthouse the author elaborates on how virtue theory a concept that is becoming well aware against deontological and utilitarian theories. The essay is divided into two parts. In the first part Hursthouse presents these theories, and then argues seven criticisms towards the virtue theory. In the second part of the essay, the author expands the understanding of virtue theory by applying it to a moral issue, abortion. Hursthouse, states she is not going to unravel the conflict of abortion, rather implement the virtue theory and how it will guide us on the way we view abortion. Hursthouse presents an outline of these ethical approaches. First, deontology premise one the action is right if it follows the guideline of a moral rule or principle , and premise two a correct moral is either required by rationality or the rational acceptance from behind the veil of ignorance and so on... . The disease had sharpened my senses not destroyed not dulled them . The mad man killed the old man and then cut him up and put him under the floorboards of the house. The fruit at the bottom of the bowl is a story about a man (William Acton) who killed his neighbour (Huxley) because he thought that Huxley was having an affair with his wife. Acton strangles Huxley and then he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think Acton maybe feels a little bit guilty and is very paranoid about the whole murder unlike in The Tell Tale Heart where the murder is very confident about what he had done and planned the whole murder whereas Acton didn t really plan to kill Huxley, but Acton in his mind thought that Huxley knew all along that he was going to get murdered. Acton thought that Huxley planned to get murdered and so told Acton to touch a lot of stuff in the house for example on page 83 Huxley said: There s a bottle of burgundy, Acton. Mind fetching it from that cabinet? Yes, fetch it. Handle it. Touch it. He did. Than Acton thought that Huxley was basically setting him up. Once Acton strangled Huxley he had started to clean the house of fingerprints. That was all fine and well but Acton didn t clean only the door knobs, glasses, cup and things like that which he touched he cleaned the whole house the walls, the couch absolutely everything which was a sign of big paranoia from Acton. The character in The Tell Tale Heart had a lot of conversations throughout the story but all the conversations were to himself. The things that the character talked about were very strange. • 30. How The Family Influence In Joyce Carol Oates Where Are... In Joyce Carol Oates Where are you going, where have you been, family influence is shown to be a key factor in the molding of a child s character, who they are. Connie, the protagonist of Oates short story, missed out on this key due to lack in positive family influence. Connie, insecure and vulnerable, was led straight into the arms of Arnold, because her family belittled her, caused her dual personality and omitted proper guidance. First of all, Connie s parents played no role in improving her self image. Connie s mother, having aged out of her prime, was jealous of her daughter s beauty, criticizing her whenever the opportunity presented itself. Connie s mother would yell at her younger daughter, Stop gawking at yourself, who are you? You think you re so pretty? (312). This constant scolding chipped away at Connie s confidence, leaving her yearning for affirmation, someone to say she is such a pretty girl ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much like a corrupted computer file, Connie created a new image, one that broke away from the corrupted indoor Connie, Everything about her had two sides to it, one for home and one for anywhere that was not home (313). One night in midsummer they ran across [to a restaurant], breathless with daring, and right away someone leaned out a car window and invited them over, but it was just a boy from high school they didn t like. It made them feel good to be able to ignore him (313). Knowing that someone wanted her satisfied her need to be praised. However, this left her vulnerable to people who prayed on the insecurities of others. Arnold Friend was quick to discover the psychological conflict of living a split life in ... • 31. Leadership And Servant Leadership In The Galileo Seven In the episode The Galileo Seven , Mr. Spock is in command of a space shuttle craft, which crash lands on a hostile alien planet. His leadership style and behaviour cause conflict and resentment amongst the crew of the shuttle craft, as he battles to extract them from the alien planet. Ultimately, he could save the remaining crew and himself and get back to the USS Enterprise. The leadership style of Spock can be analysed using several leadership theories that was introduced during the lecture series such as Trait Approach, Skills Approach, Behavioural Approach, Transactional Transformational Leadership, Situational/Contingency Approach, Path Goal Theory, Authentic Leadership and Servant Leadership. Looking at the Trait Approach it assumes that Leaders are exceptional people, born with innate qualities, destined to lead. Considering the background of Mr. Spock he was not considered as a first choice for leadership because captain Kirk was presumed to be better suited for leadership according to this leadership theory. However, as a lot of other theories suggest a leader cannot be only assessed by innate qualities. In the mid 20th century, the trait approach was challenged by research that questioned the universality of leadership traits. Stogdill (1948) suggested that no consistent set of traits differentiated leaders from non leaders across a variety of situations. (Nothhouse, 2016) (Stogdill, 1948) Considering the Skills approach it suggests that leadership is not only about innate characteristics. Several skills and abilities which can be learned and developed helps a person to become a better leader. Based on field research Katz (1955) suggested that effective administration (i.e., leadership) depends on three basic personal skills: technical, human, and conceptual. Technical skill is knowledge about and proficiency in a specific type of work or activity. Human skill is knowledge about and ability to work with people. Conceptual skills are the ability to work with ideas and concepts. (Northhouse, 2016) (Katz, 1955) Considering the case of Mr. Spock; in my opinion Mr. Spock was very well equipped with both Technical skills and Conceptual Skills which helped him to be a successful leader.
