English Reflection
In my previous English courses, I had no knowledge of writing an essay, or even a proper sentence.
Writing did not seem like anything important in my life, or that it would affect me anyway in the
future. I had despised my own writing and loathed having to write essays for any of my classes. When
I had enrolled in Composition I, I had no idea what I was going to do to pass. However, in class, we
had done collaborative work, which had helped me progress myself. Collaborative work had consisted
of multiple students helping each other, sharing ideas, and peer reviews. This was a change of pace for
me since I had not done that before. In previous classes, I had done individual work, which was solely
myself correcting and working on my work. Between collaborative work and individual work, I
enjoyed working with partners and sharing each other s experiences to benefit ourselves. Over this
class I have developed my writing skills, learned from my previous mistakes, and understood the
writing process.
To begin with, before taking this class I would have grammar errors, low level word choices, sentence
fragments, contractions, and no sentence variety. The grammar in my essays would be something that
I had never worked on or learned from. My word choices were that of a middle schooler and would
sound childish at times. I had never taken the time to learn about the sentence variety and
combinations that were possible. My knowledge of sentence variety was limited to only compound

Case Study Of Robert E. Lee s Fight At Gettysburg
Robert E. Lee lost in Antietam, which lowered chances of convincing Great Britain to develop the
diplomatic region. Lee then decided to devise a plan that would scare the north. Lee s campaign was
working well, until Hooker was duplicating his tactics.
Hooker had suggested that since Lee was moving up north, he could go to Richmond, Virginia and
take it over.
Lincoln denied the plan and told Hooker to follow Lee and his men and defeat them.
Lee lacked a common strategy; his go to man Stuart had decided to go around the Union army to
gather information. Lee was helpless and had made a risky choice. On June 28th, Lee had found out
that the Union was closer than predicted and the case was starting to get out of hand.

Essay On Lipid Based Delivery System
In recent years, a great deal of interest has been focussed on lipid based carrier systems. The most
popular approach is the incorporation of the active poorly water soluble component into inert lipid
vehicles such as oils, surfactant dispersions, solid dispersions, solid lipid nanoparticles, emulsions,
micro emulsions, Nano emulsions, self emulsifying formulations (SEF), micro/nanoemulsifying
formulations, and liposomes.
The essential component of activity by which a lipid formulation prompts enhanced bioavailability is
typically avoidance of a slow dissolution process which constrains the bioavailability of hydrophobic
drugs from solid dose frames (Shweta Gupta, 2013). Preferably the formulation allows the drug to
remain in a dissolved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of the extensive potential that these lipid excipients offer, not very many lipids based
Formulations have achieved the pharmaceutical commercial place. This might be because of the
inadequate data with respect to the generally complex physical science of lipids and worries about
figured drugs substance and physical stability. In addition to these concerns, the interaction of a lipid
based formulation with the GI condition and its effect on drug absorption is also important. For
example, edible lipids have been appeared to be extensively more productive enhancers of poorly
soluble drug ingestion, as compared to nondigestible lipids (e.g., liquid paraffin). Unsaturated fat
chain length of the lipid likewise impacts drug absorption. Both long and medium chain triglyceride
oils with various degrees of saturation have been utilized for the design of self emulsifying
formulations.
2. Surfactants: The self emulsifying properties require the incorporation of relatively large amounts of
surfactant in the formulation in addition to the oily drug carrier vehicle. The surfactants may improve
the affinity between lipids and intestinal membrane or increase the permeability of the intestinal
membrane (Gershanik T,

Madness and Insanity in Shakespeare s Hamlet
The Necessary Madness of Hamlet
Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, is a complex play, filled with layers of meaning. These are often
revealed through the madness of the characters and the theme of madness throughout the play.
Although Hamlet and Ophelia are the only characters thought to be so afflicted, the reactions of other
characters to this madness mirrors their own preoccupations.
When one refers to madness in Hamlet, most would think of Hamlet s madness, or at least that that he
was pretending to possess. Although Ophelia does go insane and ultimately commits suicide, the
central lunacy of the play revolves around Hamlet himself. Hamlet s plan to act mad is completely
unexplained. It is safe to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Polonius is probably the most proactive with his theory, by making elaborate spy plans to test it.
Ophelia reluctantly seems to agree with her father, but it may be presumed that this is because she is
very reliant on him for her opinions. Horatio, Hamlet s best friend, knows that Hamlet is not truly
crazy. Many believe that Hamlet is using an appearance of lunacy in order to be able to express his
contempt for everyone he sees.
The most interesting thing about all of the characters guesses as to the logic behind Hamlet s insanity
is that the majority of their opinions stem from the thing that most plagues or preoccupies them.
Claudius believes that Hamlet is crazy because he has a secret. This was ironic because the secret that
Hamlet does have is that he knows that Claudius is his father s murderer. The very secret that plagues
Claudius is the same that plagues Hamlet. Hamlet s mother, Gertrude, is wrapped up in her guilt about
marrying Claudius so soon after the death of her late husband. She thinks that this must be what makes
Hamlet rant so incoherently. While spying on Hamlet for the King, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
decide that he is going crazy because he can no longer fulfill his potential. Their betrayal of their
school chum is fueled by the same blind ambition that they believefuels Hamlets insanity. Polonius
thinks that Hamlet must be mad

Amino Acids And Different Functional Groups
Amino acids are difunctional compounds made of two different functional groups; an amino group,
NH2 and a carboxylic acid group, COOH. When these two compounds connect, a zwitterion is
created. Zwitterions are compounds with no overall electrical charge, but they do have positive and
negative charges in separate parts. Amino acids are the best known zwitterions, the NH2 end is
positively charged and the COOH is negatively charged.
The difunctional nature of each amino acid allows them to form peptide bonds with other amino acids
and form long chains. An example of two amino acids are glycine and alanine (see figure 1) [1] [7].
These two amino acids can link together to form a dipeptide (a larger molecule).
When two molecules react ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Proteins have 40+ amino acid residues joint and can have up to 2000 amino acid residues joint.
Peptide chains are made up of amino acid residues and not amino acids. This is because when a
condensation reaction occurs, a water molecule is lost, thus peptide chains are formed of what is left
which is amino acid residues. [1] [7]
There are 20 different amino acids that make up all proteins. Each one has a different purpose which is
defined by the R groups (side chains). The R groups also define which amino acids are charged, polar
or hydrophobic (see table 1).
Primary structure of proteins:
The primary structure of a protein is the linear sequence of amino acids, this linear sequence is called
a polypeptide chain. Amino acids are held together by intramolecular covalent bonds which are called
peptide bonds. Primary structures determine what the final 3 dimensional structure of that protein will
be. [5]
It is important to understand the properties of a peptide bond as it determines the later stages of a
protein. A peptide bond formed between 2 amino acids has a rigid planar structure. This structure is
due to interactions between electrons of the double bond of the carbonyl group and those of the C N
bond. This gives the bond, double bond characteristics which does not allow any rotation (see figure
3).
Peptide groups are made of many amino acids combined which are in planar position, connected by
Ca atoms as show in figure 4. Although

The Cross Tattoo Culture
The cross tattoo meaning centers around the culture of its origins, the time frame of its original design,
and the personality of the person who has one applied. While the cross tattoo symbolism is mainly
regarded by people as being of religious origin, it actually has roots in the Pagan world. The cross tats
meaning has a variety of origins; the people who choose them usually do so for the same reasons.
Those reasons are based on religions, traditions, cultures, and simple liking of the intricate designs.
Latin Cross Tattoo Cross tats meaning for those of the Christian Faith, centers on the crucifixion of
Christ. His death on the cross, and resurrection are the backbone of their belief systems. The Latin
cross skin image meaning forms around its structured design of three equal points of the cross placed
on a long downward pointing point. This cross tattoo is usually depicted as rough wood, and is empty;

Disguise And Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice And...
The concept of disguise has been known and used since the beginnings of drama, but this concept was
most famously known for being used in plays written by the biggest playwrights of the Elizabethan
era especially for being used in William Shakespeare s plays. What do we mean by disguise? In broad
terms, it would mean pretending to be something that one is not. The concept of disguise can mean
changing behavior, or hiding intentions, the most frequent form of disguise is the change of ones
personal appearance, usually through the changing of clothes, to mask ones true self. Shakespeare
used disguises in various ways in his plays; As You Like It, Measure for Measure, The Merchant of
Venice, and Twelfth Night were all plays in which Shakespeare used the concept of disguise as a
device to further the plot, it was sometimes even used for comic relief. Disguises can be used both
maliciously and/ or morally, depending on its use and its influence on the characters. In both Merchant
of Venice and Measure for Measure, both Portia and Duke Vincentio donned a disguise to pursue
justice how they saw morally fit, but ultimately their deception was only for selfish gain; Portia
disguises herself to save a friend, and Vincentio disguises himself to know the true feelings of his
subjects, both manipulate the law in the name of justice while in their disguises.
In The Merchant of Venice, the concept of disguise was briefly used by Jessica, Shylocks daughter, to
escape her fathers home to

Sports As A Young Age
At a young age, my parents put me in sports: teaching me how to skate at age three, playing football
my first year eligible and playing t ball a year early. Sports can teach a child more than just how to
throw a football or shoot a puck, sports have the power to teach a child how to become an adult.
Children who are involved in sports at a young age are taught many necessary traits in life. Sports can
impact their life and teach them competition, respect and responsibility. Three very valuable traits any
man or woman will need in their life. Without sports, children miss out on a valuable experience to
learn lifelong traits at a young age. My Dad was a high school phenom at hockey, so of course when
he had a son, he wanted his son to play. As soon as I could walk, I was on skates. Hockey became a
passion for me, I learned to love putting on the sweater and representing my home town. If my Dad
never put me on skates, I would have missed out on one of the best experiences of my life. The
parents who played sports competitively are typically the ones, that are rushing their own kids into
sports at a young age. They want their kid to have the same experience they had. My dad never missed
a game, he was always there after the game telling me, You played a hell of a game. or Whats up?
What was going on out there? No matter what he said, it was always the truth. Ever since a young age
I watched the Vikings game every Sunday. My dad s friends would always come over and grill

Menarche And Menopause
INTRODUCTION
Women who were the most dormant segment of the Indian population have now become active
participants in all aspects of life (Gyan, 2015). She bear s a special gift of bearing, rearing children.
The major concern in woman s life is reproductive health and they need enormous attention.
Menarche and menopause are the two important phase of the reproductive cycle. The menopause is a
time in women s life when the reproductive capacity ceases. In menopause, the post menopausal stage
is the time next to menopause and peri menopausal is the stage during which menopausal changes
occur (Pillitteri,1999).
In early menopausal transition, estrogen levels are generally normal or even slightly increased; the
level of follicle stimulating hormone begins to elevate but is generally in the normal range (Deborah
Grady, 2006). The women, in the transition to menopause, may experience vasomotor, psychosomatic,
urogenital, psychological symptoms, and increased the tendency to obesity, as well as sexual
dysfunction. The prevalence of these symptoms linked to menopause different across ethnic,
socioeconomic groups and between urban and rural women (Das Gupta, et al. 2009). These symptoms

Interpersonal Communication In Pablo Narcos
Narcos tells the true life story of the growth and spread of cocaine drug cartels across the globe and
attendant efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. It centers around
the notorious Colombian cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar. Pablo shows an interesting character
throughout the episodes through various ways of showing people who he wants to be viewed as. He
never wanted to be viewed as just another drug trafficker, but he wanted to be the best of all time. His
goal was to leave an impression for the people of Columbia so that if he did die, his name would be
mentioned in the future. He never acted the same way with anyone who had the opportunity to do
business with him. He would either be very genuine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the actions, Pablo portrays during episodes proves that identity and the way we manage
ourselves under certain circumstances has great influence in the way we present ourselves to the
individuals we encounter in our daily lives.
Throughout the episode, Pablo has shown to be very loyal, protective and generous to his immediate
family. On the other hand, the behavior with strangers is the complete opposite as he acquires the
position of authority. The family is defined as a group of people who genuinely love, care, and look
out for each other. It is said to be a bondage that cannot be broken by any means. Families have
individual beliefs and values in which they carry throughout their life. As per the research I have
obtained, I can summarize that values are concepts of what s good or bad, whereas beliefs are things
you believe to be true or false in life. Although in the show Narcos, Pablo may have his criminal
thoughts targeted towards strangers, the family is a different story. Things such as his beliefs and
values regarding family, keep him from acting as a criminal when near them. Based on research, it
was noted that the family is the most important social unit in Columbia. Even if the main breadwinner
lives and works far from home, the family takes priority . Based off this, its shown that Pablo abuses
the method of identity

The Two Sides Of Utopia And Dystopia
The world in any society has two sides, Utopia which is defined as the perfect world and the peaceful

which means a good place (More 37). Merriam Webster defined Utopia as an imaginary place, all life
aspects are perfect, as the world suffers from nothing (Webster 19). while Dystopia is defined as an
imagined universe in which the unequal society controls the fancy of an ideal society which are

In the short story, The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne, a crooked romance takes place between a

shape of a tiny hand on the cheek of her face, which symbolizes humanity in the story. If it wasn t for

The Growth of the Asian Economy
Asian Economy: The growth of the Asian Economy has had positive structural effects on the
Australian Economy. The trade volumes are at record high levels with China and the appreciation of
the exchange rates have provided a boost to the economy. There has also been a rise in the resource
investment, which has seen a reallocation of factors of production, which has lead to employment
growth in these sectors. The focus of the Asian economies is on the production and consumption of
goods and the commodity intensive nature of this rise has led to an increase in commodity prices. This
has led to an increase in the productive capacity, which supports the exports, employment, incomes,
taxes and wealth of the Australian population. The strength of the resource sector has had a positive

Zombies Of Toronto Summary
Response Paper for Zombies of Toronto The journal article The Zombies of Toronto was published in

insecurity in a culture, about who we are, who the enemy is, and whether s/he is us. The zombie walk

Grand Theft Auto Research Paper
Grand Theft Auto is a very inappropriate game for many ages due to the degrading standards women
are held to, the reckless use of vehicles, and the lack of respect shown for laws and law enforcement.
Fact is that the game is thought of as the most hyper violent game in history and is the most
controversial. Grand Theft Auto and its franchise has been awarded such a title by the Guinness Book
of World Records. The game is most known for the violent and misconduct that it contains in every
edition. (source cited)
The original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City game racked in only 0.04 million dollars which is a drastic
difference from the franchise s most recent, Grand Theft Auto V making sixty point eighty one billion
dollars. So, to say that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heat is what the games series refers to the force as. The primary duty for the officers is to maintain
order throughout the game. If the officers, see the player enacting in any criminal act their job is to
make it harder for the player to successfully commit the crime. Grand Theft Auto is a compilation of
missions and the police provide a reliable enemy or challenge. Officers within the series are thought of
as lazy, corrupt, and bad drivers. The criminal acts that the players get involved in can reward them
with stars. Each case varies from level to level, but the more stars the crime receives the more wanted
you are by the feds. Offenses include shooting pedestrians, entering prohibited areas, and some
unavoidable participation depending on the mission the player is on, for example a bank heist. The
police will not arrest the player because of traffic offenses or trespassing on private property. If the
player happens to get busted or arrested the player can then regenerate at the nearest police station and
carry on with the mission. Consequences do follow up the decision to respawn by the lose of weapons
and money for the player. Virtually inconsequential to the player because he or she can still live in the
game. Grand Theft Auto participants can also bribe the police so that they don t receive the full extent
of the law, which would not occur in real life and could potentially give you more problems if done

It Was A Beautiful Day And William Was Playing With His...
It was a beautiful day and William was playing with his best friend Benedict. Will glanced around at
the vast interior of the house searching for Benedict, who was hiding from him somewhere inside. His
search for his friend took him all over the house and he had searched just about anywhere. He was
losing hope of winning this round and was ready to give in when he saw a door. Except he had never
seen this door before and was about to enter when Benedict called out to him from across the house.
Will rushed over to him and they started talking. Ha Ha, I won, gloated Benedict. Yeah, yeah. Hey
where were you hiding anyway? Will asked. I was hiding behind this chair in the corner. I m surprised

The old looking door near the ladder to the attic. I ve never noticed it before but I figured you would
know, Will. There is no room near the attic William and there never has been. Now it s a lovely day
outside, why don t you and Benedict go and play outside, His grandfather suggested. Will and Ben
turned to leave and left the study. They wandered about the house while thinking about his grandfather
s words. Suddenly he grabbed Ben and set out to find the door again. As they stood outside the door
they gathered up their courage and opened the door. They walked into an empty room and were
greeted by the sight of another door looming in front of them. The boys sauntered up to the door and
opened it without a second thought and walked inside. As they stared at the contents of the room, the
boys noticed only one noticeable change. There was a table in the middle of the room but apart from
that the room was exactly the same. Will gave Ben a confused glance and walked cautiously up to the
table. He placed his hand on the table expecting something horrible to happen but nothing did. His
eyes wandered about the room again until they rested on a door that was completely identical to the
one him and Ben had just come through. Ben grabbed Will and walked toward the door, but this time
without the confidence of before. He slowly opened the door and

US and Japanese Strategy in the Battle of Iwo Jima Essay
U.S. Strategy
The American forces plan consisted of a divide and conquer methodology. The U.S. focused on
landing its assault force expediently and quickly and securing Mt. Suribachi and dominant high
ground of the island. The Americans expected victory in less than a week. Their forces consisted of
the 3rd, 4th and 5th Marine Divisions. The 4th and 5th Marine Divisions were to land on the eastern
beaches the 4th on the right and the 5th on the left. The 3rd Marines would either land on the eastern
beaches or assume a defensive role, which ever was called (Planning for the Battle of Iwo Jima, n.d.).

Battle Japan s Iwo Jima Strategy, n.d.). On top of that, Iwo Jima would have to be reinforced
significantly if it were going to be held for any length of time, and preparations were made to send
sizable numbers of men and quantities of materiel to that island.
In June of 1944, Lieutenant General Kuribayashi arrived on Iwo Jima to find discover a rivalry
between the Army and the Navy. By late July, Kuribayashi had evacuated all civilians from the island
and sent back officers he considered uncooperative. The civilians and the incorporating officers were
no use to him and would only drain the water and food supplies. After these acts were completed, he
began his act in building the fortress. Kuribayashi split Iwo Jima into five sectors. He would control
the mountain area himself and would be leaving the volcano and its 200 men as an independent
command under Colonel Atsuli. Kuribayashi s departure had been normal practice for the Japanese
Imperial Army, but he predicted that American air and naval bombardments would destroy any
defenses on the beaches. In order for the defense to be a success support was needed from the air and
sea, which the Japanese Imperial Navy did not have. However, other military branches demanded that

Characterization And Imagery In A White Heron By Sarah...
In the excerpt from her novel, A White Heron, Sarah Orne Jewett utilizes characterization and imagery
to dramatize her young heroine s adventure, shifting the tone from ambivalent to triumphant. Aided by
characterization and imagery, the story s initial tone is ambivalent because of the mixed emotions
Sylvia feels while climbing. Sylvia is first described as daring, She had always believed that whoever
climbed to the top of it could see the ocean... Sylvia began with the utmost bravery to mount to the top
of it . As the story develops, Sylvia s courage remains intact when climbing becomes strenuous, The
way was harder than she thought... the sharp dry twigs held her and scratched her like angry talons .
The author s use of characterization shows the reader how courageous Sylvia is. The ambivalent tone
is created through the rising tension that is described throughout Sylvia s characterization. While ...

Additionally, the author uses imagery to develop the tone. The narrator described the tree itself: There
was the huge tree asleep yet in the paling moonlight... . Later, the narrator explains, The tree seemed
to lengthen itself as she went up and to reach farther and farther upward . Prior to climbing, there is no
reason to believe that the act of climbing could become difficult based on the imagery provided. In
fact, the tree s beautiful appearance almost begs Sylvia to climb it in the paling moonlight . While
climbing, however, the ambivalent tone progresses as the tree seems to stretch farther and farther most

What Affect does Seed Size have on Plant Growth Rate and Height?
Abstract:
The purpose of this experiment is to investigate whether the size of the bean will affect the height and
growth rate of the bean stalk. According to Anthony Brach Ph.D., the larger seed size tends to grow
slower because they require more nutrients than smaller seeds, however, larger seeds will often grow
taller because they have a lot of nutrients stored in them. Mung beans, are a legume likely native to
India. These bean plants require full sunlight or at least eight to 10 hours of sunlight daily. Mung
beans can grow up to 36 inches tall and reaches maturity after 120 days. The goals of this experiment

Essay about The Women of the Aeneid
The Roman epic of Virgil s Aeneid describes the hardship and misadventures of Aeneas and the
Trojans quest from Troy to Italy. Like Homer s famous epics, the Iliad and Odyssey, Virgil s narrative
style and structure portrays similar attributes in the finding of Rome. Aeneas encounters several
women on his journey who play a significant role throughout this epic in assisting or destroying his
journey to Rome. His representation of female characters provides the readers with a better
understanding of gender politics and reasons why some female leaders failed. Each of Virgil s female
characters demonstrates a combination of traits throughout the epic; however, such behaviors of these
women tend to develop unwanted conflict due to emotions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He was astounded, and Achates too Felt thrilled by joy and fear: I feel as though Aeneas and his men
did not know what to expect when they came forward to Queen Dido. They were nervous of what was
going to happen. Until Dido laid eyes on Aeneas.
In every great epic, love plays a key role in bringing people together but also destroying plenty in its
way. Even though Dido is characterized as this powerful leader, she slowly starts to fall as her passion
for Aeneas starts to grow. As Aeneas tells his story to all the people, Dido slowly starts falling more
and more in love with Aeneas. Throughout this Book you slowly start to see the demise of Queen
Dido. Towers, half built, rose no farther; men no longer trained in arms... Projects were broken off,
laid over, and the menacing huge walls with cranes unmoving stood against the sky . Virgil provides
images of how Carthage is being affected by the downfall of Queen Dido. Dido is so infatuated with
love that she cannot see how she is running Carthage to the ground for the love of Aeneas. The
goddess Juno, the queen of gods, saw this as an opportunity to keep Aeneas from reaching Italy. Dido
even broke her vow of chastity and surrenders to her desires for Aeneas. Dido had no further qualms
as to impressions given and set abroad; She thought no longer of a secret love but called it marriage .
This statement demonstrates how she is becoming

Eyewitness Identification, Criminal, And Criminal Law Essay
Imagine being at home with your family, when a knock comes at the door. You go to answer the door
and you are promptly arrested and taken away from your family. Why, because you have been
identified by someone as the perpetrator of a crime you have never heard of. Since you know that you
are innocent you don t worry, until you get to the sentencing. Once you are sentenced for 50 years
without parole, reality takes hold. You may think this cannot happen to you, but until we fix some
major flaws with law enforcement, prosecution deals, and an overloaded system: This could happen to
anyone. State prosecutors should not be able to convict anyone on eyewitness testimony only, without
any other physical or forensic evidence.
In eyewitness identification, in criminal law, evidence is received from a witness who has actually
seen an event and can so testify in court. (Law.com Legal Online Dictionary) While this could be an
important piece of the investigation, it can never take the place of DNA, or forensic evidence.
Unfortunately, that happens all too much, with our overburdened legal and criminal justice systems.
Eyewitness misidentification is widely recognized as the leading cause of wrongful conviction in the
U.S., accounting for more wrongful convictions than all other cause combined. (Boston College
Journal of Law and Social Justice, Volume 35:1, p.2) While we have been aware of this problem for
many years, innocent people are still being convicted daily. Too many people

Digital Essay
Digital
The digital world of today can be understood as a product of late Victorian construction of the
machinery of information organization combined with Modernist visual forms.
The works of Lev Manovich and Dr. Simon Cook use a revisionist approach to examine the past
century and a half of visual forms. In his Late Victorian Reasoning and a Modern History of Vision,
Dr. Cook attempts to prove a link between the late Victorian visual forms and the new vision
(including Modernist art) that Manovich observed in the early half of the twentieth century. In his
work, Lev Manovich traces the relationship from new vision to the computer and new media, claiming
a direct connection between the two. Although it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the science of psychology had a very slow start and growth. In the nineteenth century,
psychology went through a fledging stage in which it attempted to ground itself in different sciences,
such as biology, physics, and philosophy (2). It was this initial experimentation with psychology that
led to the works produced in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century observed by Cook
and Manovich. However, it was the growth of psychology departments in universities and colleges
that led to the visual forms used in the new media. Upon further examination of psychology and the
three visual forms, the importance of psychology in these fields will become evident.
The late Victorian construction of the machinery of information organization included the works of
men like Lewis Carroll and John Venn, who attempted to create visual representations of arguments,
usually on the topic of logic. The link between these two men and psychology can be easily observed
upon examination of Mind, a quarterly publication that was established in 1876. In the first issue of
Mind, George Robertson, the editor of the periodical and a Professor of Philosophy of Mind and Logic
in University College, London, states the purpose of the journal will be an organ for the publication of
original researches, and a critical record of the progress made, in

Moisturizing Tips for Winter Time
Moisturizing Tips for Winter Time
The dry, cold air during winter can cause numerous skin problems such as dry and flaking skin thus
taking care of it should be on your priority list. Everyone has different skin types thus it is essential
that you consult a specialist or dermatologist when it comes to choosing the right product for you.
Make sure that you always read the labels before purchasing any skin care product. Here are several
skin care tips that can help you in keeping your skin healthy even during the winter:
Face
Take note of the changes in your skin if any so that your dermatologist can assess if you need to
replace your face moisturizer. Apply it after taking a bath or shower and again before bedtime. Body

Skin can be damaged by using common household soap like deodorant soaps or those that contain
heavy fragrances, alcohol or antibacterial elements. These ingredients can further strip the essential
oils in the skin making it vulnerable to irritants and allergens. Choose a moisturizing bar or a creamy
body wash instead. Steer clear of those with harsh detergents like ammonium lauryl sulfate and
triclosan; instead, opt for those with gentle ingredients like cocamidopropyl betaine.
Use soap daily only on the parts that needs a good washing and those that usually affected by sweat.
Try to use soap sparingly for the rest of the body.
The best time to apply a body moisturizer is right after the bath or shower, preferably when the skin is
still damp since it can actually draw moisture into the skin from the outside. Choose also those that are
fragrance free instead of unscented because it only means that fragrance are still used in neutralizing
any odor causing ingredients.
Hands and Feet
Make it a habit to apply lotion in your hands after washing to minimize skin dryness.
Always wear gloves when outdoors. Keep an extra pair in your car and use it even when driving.
If your skin is usually dry, apply a thick layer of moisturizer before wearing gloves. This can help the
moisturizer seep into the skin better.
Apply a moisturizer on your feet the same time you re applying it in your body and face since cold
weather can make the

Comparison Of The Devil And Miss Prym
The book The Devil And Miss Prym by Paulo Coelho and the movie Hero starring Jet Li even though
in different languages, share a plethora of similarities. The Devil And Miss Prym tells the story of a
young woman from the village of Visco, Chantal Prym. Her life was very simple and seemed so
innocent, until the devil walked into Visco and offered her something she so strongly felt she deserved
a way out of Visco. Of course there was a small price to pay, somebody had to die. After this day
Chantal lived with a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other, constantly fighting to win her
over. In the end God s light shined brighter and Chantal was able to make the right decisions. The
movie, saving herself and her village. Hero by Jet Li was about an orphaned, nameless, assassin who
blamed the King for the death of his family, and wanted revenge. He was able to get within 10 paces
of the restless King making him believe he killed the 3 assassins that had been after him. The king
soon realized that Nameless s story did not add up and he had to be an assassin. Even so, he chose a
different fate, because of what broken sword had taught to him. This was his highest ideal, and with
that knowledge the desire to kill no longer existed, only peace, not revenge. When not blinded by hate
he was able to see the King s mission to unite all of China, and Spared, his life only after passing on
these wise words. Both stories main characters dealt a with a Person Versus Self battle, both Stories
had common archetypes with some playing the innocent and others the Sage, and both stories share a
philosophy and that is utilitarianism.
In both of these stories the biggest battle of all was fought within the mind of the main character.
Chantal faced this throughout much of the story as she questioned should she steal the gold? Should
she tell the villagers of the message the devil shared with her? Should she help Berta? It was a tough
battle between her morals, her ego and what she felt she deserved after living her whole life in Visco,
even though she was different than everyone else there. In the end she ended up realizing she wasn t
so different from them after all. She was able to fight the temptation, even though she

  • 2. English Reflection In my previous English courses, I had no knowledge of writing an essay, or even a proper sentence. Writing did not seem like anything important in my life, or that it would affect me anyway in the future. I had despised my own writing and loathed having to write essays for any of my classes. When I had enrolled in Composition I, I had no idea what I was going to do to pass. However, in class, we had done collaborative work, which had helped me progress myself. Collaborative work had consisted of multiple students helping each other, sharing ideas, and peer reviews. This was a change of pace for me since I had not done that before. In previous classes, I had done individual work, which was solely myself correcting and working on my work. Between collaborative work and individual work, I enjoyed working with partners and sharing each other s experiences to benefit ourselves. Over this class I have developed my writing skills, learned from my previous mistakes, and understood the writing process. To begin with, before taking this class I would have grammar errors, low level word choices, sentence fragments, contractions, and no sentence variety. The grammar in my essays would be something that I had never worked on or learned from. My word choices were that of a middle schooler and would sound childish at times. I had never taken the time to learn about the sentence variety and combinations that were possible. My knowledge of sentence variety was limited to only compound and ... • 3. Case Study Of Robert E. Lee s Fight At Gettysburg Robert E. Lee lost in Antietam, which lowered chances of convincing Great Britain to develop the diplomatic region. Lee then decided to devise a plan that would scare the north. Lee s campaign was working well, until Hooker was duplicating his tactics. Hooker had suggested that since Lee was moving up north, he could go to Richmond, Virginia and take it over. Lincoln denied the plan and told Hooker to follow Lee and his men and defeat them. Lee lacked a common strategy; his go to man Stuart had decided to go around the Union army to gather information. Lee was helpless and had made a risky choice. On June 28th, Lee had found out that the Union was closer than predicted and the case was starting to get out of hand. The fight at Gettysburg ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On Lipid Based Delivery System In recent years, a great deal of interest has been focussed on lipid based carrier systems. The most popular approach is the incorporation of the active poorly water soluble component into inert lipid vehicles such as oils, surfactant dispersions, solid dispersions, solid lipid nanoparticles, emulsions, micro emulsions, Nano emulsions, self emulsifying formulations (SEF), micro/nanoemulsifying formulations, and liposomes. The essential component of activity by which a lipid formulation prompts enhanced bioavailability is typically avoidance of a slow dissolution process which constrains the bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs from solid dose frames (Shweta Gupta, 2013). Preferably the formulation allows the drug to remain in a dissolved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Regardless of the extensive potential that these lipid excipients offer, not very many lipids based Formulations have achieved the pharmaceutical commercial place. This might be because of the inadequate data with respect to the generally complex physical science of lipids and worries about figured drugs substance and physical stability. In addition to these concerns, the interaction of a lipid based formulation with the GI condition and its effect on drug absorption is also important. For example, edible lipids have been appeared to be extensively more productive enhancers of poorly soluble drug ingestion, as compared to nondigestible lipids (e.g., liquid paraffin). Unsaturated fat chain length of the lipid likewise impacts drug absorption. Both long and medium chain triglyceride oils with various degrees of saturation have been utilized for the design of self emulsifying formulations. 2. Surfactants: The self emulsifying properties require the incorporation of relatively large amounts of surfactant in the formulation in addition to the oily drug carrier vehicle. The surfactants may improve the affinity between lipids and intestinal membrane or increase the permeability of the intestinal membrane (Gershanik T, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Madness and Insanity in Shakespeare s Hamlet The Necessary Madness of Hamlet Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, is a complex play, filled with layers of meaning. These are often revealed through the madness of the characters and the theme of madness throughout the play. Although Hamlet and Ophelia are the only characters thought to be so afflicted, the reactions of other characters to this madness mirrors their own preoccupations. When one refers to madness in Hamlet, most would think of Hamlet s madness, or at least that that he was pretending to possess. Although Ophelia does go insane and ultimately commits suicide, the central lunacy of the play revolves around Hamlet himself. Hamlet s plan to act mad is completely unexplained. It is safe to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Polonius is probably the most proactive with his theory, by making elaborate spy plans to test it. Ophelia reluctantly seems to agree with her father, but it may be presumed that this is because she is very reliant on him for her opinions. Horatio, Hamlet s best friend, knows that Hamlet is not truly crazy. Many believe that Hamlet is using an appearance of lunacy in order to be able to express his contempt for everyone he sees. The most interesting thing about all of the characters guesses as to the logic behind Hamlet s insanity is that the majority of their opinions stem from the thing that most plagues or preoccupies them. Claudius believes that Hamlet is crazy because he has a secret. This was ironic because the secret that Hamlet does have is that he knows that Claudius is his father s murderer. The very secret that plagues Claudius is the same that plagues Hamlet. Hamlet s mother, Gertrude, is wrapped up in her guilt about marrying Claudius so soon after the death of her late husband. She thinks that this must be what makes Hamlet rant so incoherently. While spying on Hamlet for the King, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern decide that he is going crazy because he can no longer fulfill his potential. Their betrayal of their school chum is fueled by the same blind ambition that they believefuels Hamlets insanity. Polonius thinks that Hamlet must be mad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Amino Acids And Different Functional Groups Amino acids are difunctional compounds made of two different functional groups; an amino group, NH2 and a carboxylic acid group, COOH. When these two compounds connect, a zwitterion is created. Zwitterions are compounds with no overall electrical charge, but they do have positive and negative charges in separate parts. Amino acids are the best known zwitterions, the NH2 end is positively charged and the COOH is negatively charged. The difunctional nature of each amino acid allows them to form peptide bonds with other amino acids and form long chains. This is because when a condensation reaction occurs, a water molecule is lost, thus peptide chains are formed of what is left which is amino acid residues. [1] [7] There are 20 different amino acids that make up all proteins. Each one has a different purpose which is defined by the R groups (side chains). The R groups also define which amino acids are charged, polar or hydrophobic (see table 1). Primary structure of proteins: The primary structure of a protein is the linear sequence of amino acids, this linear sequence is called a polypeptide chain. Amino acids are held together by intramolecular covalent bonds which are called peptide bonds. Primary structures determine what the final 3 dimensional structure of that protein will be. [5] It is important to understand the properties of a peptide bond as it determines the later stages of a protein. A peptide bond formed between 2 amino acids has a rigid planar structure. This structure is due to interactions between electrons of the double bond of the carbonyl group and those of the C N bond. This gives the bond, double bond characteristics which does not allow any rotation (see figure 3). Peptide groups are made of many amino acids combined which are in planar position, connected by Ca atoms as show in figure 4. Although ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While the cross tattoo symbolism is mainly regarded by people as being of religious origin, it actually has roots in the Pagan world. • 8. Disguise And Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice And... The concept of disguise has been known and used since the beginnings of drama, but this concept was most famously known for being used in plays written by the biggest playwrights of the Elizabethan era especially for being used in William Shakespeare s plays. What do we mean by disguise? In broad terms, it would mean pretending to be something that one is not. The concept of disguise can mean changing behavior, or hiding intentions, the most frequent form of disguise is the change of ones personal appearance, usually through the changing of clothes, to mask ones true self. Shakespeare used disguises in various ways in his plays; As You Like It, Measure for Measure, The Merchant of Venice, and Twelfth Night were all plays in which Shakespeare used the concept of disguise as a device to further the plot, it was sometimes even used for comic relief. Disguises can be used both maliciously and/ or morally, depending on its use and its influence on the characters. In both Merchant of Venice and Measure for Measure, both Portia and Duke Vincentio donned a disguise to pursue justice how they saw morally fit, but ultimately their deception was only for selfish gain; Portia disguises herself to save a friend, and Vincentio disguises himself to know the true feelings of his subjects, both manipulate the law in the name of justice while in their disguises. Children who are involved in sports at a young age are taught many necessary traits in life. Sports can impact their life and teach them competition, respect and responsibility. Three very valuable traits any man or woman will need in their life. Without sports, children miss out on a valuable experience to learn lifelong traits at a young age. My Dad was a high school phenom at hockey, so of course when he had a son, he wanted his son to play. As soon as I could walk, I was on skates. Hockey became a passion for me, I learned to love putting on the sweater and representing my home town. If my Dad never put me on skates, I would have missed out on one of the best experiences of my life. The parents who played sports competitively are typically the ones, that are rushing their own kids into sports at a young age. They want their kid to have the same experience they had. The family is defined as a group of people who genuinely love, care, and look out for each other. It is said to be a bondage that cannot be broken by any means. Families have individual beliefs and values in which they carry throughout their life. As per the research I have obtained, I can summarize that values are concepts of what s good or bad, whereas beliefs are things you believe to be true or false in life. Although in the show Narcos, Pablo may have his criminal thoughts targeted towards strangers, the family is a different story. Things such as his beliefs and values regarding family, keep him from acting as a criminal when near them. Since you know that you are innocent you don t worry, until you get to the sentencing. Once you are sentenced for 50 years without parole, reality takes hold. You may think this cannot happen to you, but until we fix some major flaws with law enforcement, prosecution deals, and an overloaded system: This could happen to anyone.
