Confidelity In King Lear Essay
The depravation of the characters morality, as a consequence of their hamartia that lusts for the
inordinate love, entice them to commit immoral acts and lead to their ineluctable condemnation.
Goneril, the eldest daughter of King Lear, portrays the influence of lust on morality through her
increasing malevolence. Shakespeare depicts her character with a strong thirst for power yet still
maintains some restrains in her actions before she becomes intrigued by the congeniality between
Edmund and herself. After which, she develops into a monster that destroys anything, anyone
obstructing her way as she surrenders to her lust for Edmund. As Edgar exposes the letter that Goneril
writes to Edmund about the plot against her husband, the wicked plan ... Show more content on

Furthermore, the symbolic use of goatish establishes the lecherous nature of man that tempts
Gloucester to commit adultery. The mythological allusion with the reference to the constellations
symbolizes the lascivious, demonic nature, which dictates the superstitious belief that an illegitimate
son born outside of marriage, like Edmund, is ineluctably evil in nature. Despite Gloucester s blame
on the nature, his sin brings disturbance to the order of the universe with the birth of his bastard son,
which results in his nemesis as the retribution of his indulgence in lust. Shakespeare s use of expletive,
fut , establishes Edmund s despise towards his father, who brings him to this world due to his failure
to resist the temptation, yet labels him illegitimate for his own flaws. Hence, Shakespeare establishes
that Gloucester s hamartia is the weakness in resisting temptation and his ignorance that fails to
recognize the true vileness under the superficial allure in lust, foreshadowing his inevitable nemesis
due to the product of his sin,

Flamenco and the Spanish Culture
You can learn a lot about a country based on the music that s produced there. The music of Spain is
rich in both history and culture. Many different musical styles have originated from various locations
through Spain such as Flamenco from Andalusia, the Galician bagpipe music from Galicia and the
classical guitar music that originated throughout Spain in the early . Spanish music is very diverse and
reflects the large cultural differences between regions. The music of Spain has also had a large impact
on the music of western cultures.(Music of Spain). Flamenco is a form of Spanish folk music which
originated in Andalusia in the south of the country. This type of music as we know it today is a
spectacle which is made up for four different elements Cante Voice, Baile Dance, Toque Guitar, and
the Jaleo, which roughly translated means hell raising and involves hand clapping, foot stomping, and
encouraging shouts of the audience ( Flamenco History. ). However it was not always like this.
Flamenco was first recorded in the late 18th century and consisted of what the Spanish refer to as Palo
Secos, or dry styles.( Flamenco History. ). This was basicly singing or chanting accompanied only by
a rhythm beaten out on the floor by a wooden staff or cane. However the genre underwent a dramatic
development in the late 19th century and had become the spectacle that we know today. In the past
flamenco music was not very widespread outside the region of its origin. However in

Effects Of Environment On The Environment
In many distinctive instants, change does not occur until something drastic happens; only then do
people begin to come to awareness. According to Physicians for Social Responsibilities ,
environmental factors are estimated to be responsible for approximately 80% of cancer diagnosis and
deaths in the U.S. alone. Children, animals, and life everywhere are suffering due to consequences of
environmental hazards. The detrimental consequences of unprotected environments are much greater
than many perceive; therefore, by limiting harmful methods of environmental destruction and raising
awareness these consequences may be decreased. The amount of contamination in the Earth s water
and atmosphere has increased tremendously over the years. Factors such as fossil fuel combustion,
water pollution, deforestation, toxic chemicals, and a multitude of others all contribute greatly to the
environmental harm that is being faced today. Investigation has brought out evidence that pernicious
industrial chemicals seem to be more widespread throughout the environment than anticipated. The
abundance of pollutants exposed to the air and water we rely on may cause a variety of health defects
and problematic issues to human, animal, and plant life everywhere. Urban development, farming,
deforestation, and the building of dams have crippling effects on both the environments and the
species that thrive in those locations. Approximately half of the world s forests have been cut down
and a vast number

Compare And Contrast Africa And American Civilizations
The civilizations of America, Africa, and Europe each had their own political, economic, and religious
systems that changed drastically when people from each continent encountered one another. In the
Americas, the Native Americans had developed large and massive empires that would come to marvel
the world. In Africa, there were are also large empires, home to millions of people. Western Europe on
the other hand did not have any large empires or well organized societies. However, this would all
change when the Europeans came in contact with the people in the Americas and Africa. It would be
the Europeans that rose up while the other races fell. Before the Europeans arrived in the New World,
it was filled with wealth and resources. When the Spanish first explored the New World they returned
to Spain with strings of pearls and gold. The land was also full of Native Americans. The native
people in the Americas had created some of the greatest empires in the world. These empires spread
all across the New World especially in Mexico and Guatemala. These empires were home to over 60
million people. Most of these people lived in the great empires of the Aztecs and Incas, the two largest
empires at the time. Both of these empires housed more people than most European cities at the time.
The Aztecs had a diverse trade system that included tributes from the people to the leaders of the
empire. They required tribute to be payed to them, typically consisting of gold, textiles, and cacao.

The Legal Cases Of The Supreme Court
The Supreme Court is the courtroom where all the legal cases dealing with congress or the
constitution go to get a final decision. The Court is currently composed of a chief justice, eight
associate justices, and nine officers. Their main goal as members of the Supreme Court is to make sure
everything and anything abides by the constitution. It has many powers when it comes to law and
especially the constitution, but it is not overly powerful due to the other two branches of the
government. Checks and balances helps keep their powers level and just as important as the executive
and legislative branch powers. The Court has the ability to remove a law or refute anything that
violates the United States Constitution. The Supreme Court, on average, receives around 7,000 8,000
petitions for a writ of certiorari every term. The Court grants and hears oral arguments for eighty
cases. One case specifically was Printz v. United States. This case focused on dealing with background
checks when purchasing a firearm. Jay Printz deemed the provisions to the Brady Bill
unconstitutional, decided to take it to the District Courts and eventually the case ended up in the
Supreme Court, where Stephen P. Halbrook fought and won the case based on a five to four ruling in
favor of Printz. Before the Jay Printz case on the constitutionality of the provisions of the Brady Bill
went to the Supreme Court, the case went to the District Courts and the Court of Appeals. The case

his obsession leads him to forget what should be important to him.
2. Sedaris expresses the lack of heart his father shows towards people and even his children when it
comes down to golf. For example the first day Lisa ever got her period was out on the golf course
while her dad was watching a professional tournament, at first while she complained about her back

This torment is best expressed by the haze, dizzy fog, and callous gaze, that she describes when trying
to choose her words
(9, 10, 11). Also, since she s Longing, Desperate to show, and Searching, her desire for the right words
is very strong. These components provide a strong thematic thread that was imitated from Sydney s
poem. His desire for effective expression is shown when he sought fit words, and tried to see if thence
would flow (5, 7). Both poets are inhibited by their tendency to censor and over analyze their work,
thus preventing themselves from free expression. Luckily, both poets come to a realization that the
only way to truly express themselves is to write from their heart.
The diction in Hidden Heart helps create imagery and a tone that is characteristic of what the poet is
feeling. The words bleed, stain, and wound, all connect to paint a picture of pain. Bleed and wound are
used to illustrate the temporary nature of Natalie s anxiety during the writing process, while stain
emphasizes the permanent quality of the letter and the importance of its effectiveness (1,2). In
contrast, Sydney places contradictory words side by side to subtly create tension. Words like
pity/grace, halting/forth, and burned/ brain, add to the strain and pressure that Astrophil feels (4, 8, 9).

Ffa Reflection Paper
My mom sends me inspirational quotes when I am faced with a challenge in my life. In high school I
faced a challenge that I thought would mark the end of my career in FFA, or Future Farmers of
America. It was officer election time in my FFA chapter for my senior year and there was a lot being
thrown my way. Losing the people who I thought were my best friends was the main problem I faced
after the election. I was the new chapter president and I was afraid of what was going to happen with
my friendships because of my position. I thought about quitting and running the other way in order to
avoid it all. I told my mom what was going on and she sent me this quote, F.E.A.R. has two meanings,

failing proving that I really didn t deserve the position. I did think about quitting, I thought about it a
lot actually because I was afraid my friends were right and that I would fail, and I was also afraid of
them, but then I went back and looked at the quote my mom sent me, Forget Everything And Run, or
Face Everything And Rise, at that point I didn t know what the best thing to do would be. I talked to
one of my Ag teachers about it after school that day and I told him I didn t know what to do. He told
me to face it head on, and that he would be right by my side helping me face each obstacle that was
thrown my way. When my friends found out I wasn t going to give up and run away from the
challenges I was faced with they started spreading rumors about me and talking about how rigged the
elections were if someone like me could ve gotten president. I was hurt, and the more they talked bad
about me the more I wanted to quit and run away from it all and have all the hate stop, but I kept
going back to the quote my mom sent me and I remembered all I had to do was face the challenges,

Harriet Tubman Greatest Achievements
What Was Harriet Tubman s Greatest Achievement?
I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery. Thomas Jefferson once said. Harriet Tubman was a
strong and brave African American woman. She was born in Dorchester County, Maryland. She grew
up in Bucktown, Maryland. She grew up like a neglected weeds (Background Essay). It showed that
her childhood is not very lovely. At the age of 12, she was doing field work and hauling logs. When
her master died, in 1849, she makes her life changing decision, I had reasoned this out of my mind;
there was one of two things I had right to; liberty or death; if I could not have one I would have the
other (Background Essay). This showed that she is going to fight for her and others freedom but if she
does not get freedom then she would get death. Although Harriet Tubman s achievements as a
caregiver in Upstate New York and being a spy leader of the Combahee River raid were important, but
her achievement of being a conductor of the Underground Railroad was the greatest. One of Harriet
Tubman s noteworthy achievements was her work as a caregiver in Upstate New York. She cared for
the needy people, The aged, ... the babe deserted, the epileptic, the blind, the paralyzed, ... all found
shelter and welcome. (Doc E). This showed that she cared and welcomed all kinds of people. Much of
Harriet Tubman s time spent taking care of the poor people in her home. Harriet often had six to eight
people in her care. (Doc E) This showed

Triumphal Arch Of Pompey The Great
Triumphal Arch of Pompey the Great Around 50 BCE three influential military and political leaders
rose to power through an unofficial alliance. Through their alliance they forever changed how the
Roman Republic and Senate were run, and the history of Rome. The first triumvirate included Julius
Caesar, Pompeius Magnus, and Licinius Crassus. Pompey and Crassus were both very influential
military and political leaders, having both served as consuls and roman generals. Together they allied
with Caesar to move him up into consul status, as well as using his power to help push forward their
political ideas and principles. Crassus and Pompey, who originally were enemies, continued to
compete with one another trying to take over the triumvirate and be the sole roman consul. Eventually,
with the event of several key deaths, the triumvirate fell apart. It soon became evident that only one
person could rule, and the idea of three co rulers had failed. Shortly after, Pompey and Caesar split up
their alliance after the Roman Senate and the population of Rome had different ideas about who
should be the sole consul. The two consuls competed for leadership of the Roman state, which
eventually lead to a civil war. Had Pompey won the civil war, Rome would have been forever changed
with Pompey as leader.
Pompey came from an extremely wealthy family with a political and military background. Pompey s
father, Gnaeus Pompeius Strabo, was extremely wealthy and politically involved,

William Shakespeare s Oedipus, A Play Written By Sophocles

Blinded by the Truth
Oftentimes characters can see perfectly but are blind to the obvious truth; conversely, some characters
are in fact blind but have the insight to see the greater truth. Authors sometimes convey dramatic irony
through diction that symbolizes something to the audience. Oedipus, a play written by Sophocles,
contains numerous accounts where the author uses words to convey a deeper truth about characters
and their experiences. Sight, light, blindness, and darkness all have a literal meaning, but when placed
into this play, with its intricate plot, they express the dramatic ironies that unfold between Oedipus and
his past. Greek tragedies are known to use language that expresses the deeper truths about the to the
audiences. Sight, the most common word used by play writers, brings about a whole new meaning to
it rather that its normal literal meaning. The impression of fear and pity may be produced by sight
(Richardson). At first glance this quote looks as if it is mainly speaking about the audience s reaction
of what they saw yet as people analyze this deeper, they arise at the realization that this is discussing
how actors within a play are affected greatly by what they see. It can be taken both ways but in the
case of this essay, the people that knew the truth of Oedipus past and the prophecy felt remorse and
pity for him because for a man to endure such hardships yet be blind to the truth

Treatment includes forms of therapy like psychotherapy and drugs depending on the severity of
depression. Family and friends are important in recovery of depressed individuals by offering support

all affect the wellbeing of individuals in relation to their work, social relations, and education needs
(NIH, 2015).
Depressive Disorder
Concept
Every once in a while an individual experiences sadness and blue moods however they pass after
some time and the person resumes their life. Depressive disorders are characterized by sadness and
loss of interest in things that were once pleasurable (APA, 2013). In contrast to a mood that goes away
a person suffering from depressive disorders experience persistent episodes of sadness. Depressive
disorders in contrast to a bad mood affect the mental and physical functioning of a person and cause
deterioration in those functions. Depressive disorders change the thinking, feelings and behavior of the
affected person and they can become a threat to themselves and others (Olfson et al. 2005). People
snap out of bad moods, but individuals suffering from depressive disorders are sick and need medical
attention. Depressive disorders are common, and they vary from individual to individual in symptoms
and behavior. The symptoms will vary among males, females, young, elderly and even children.

Evaluation Of A New Hybrid Strategy
Abstract
Testing is an important process in software development and widely used by developers to reveal
bugs. Often, software failures can lead to disastrous consequences such as loss of data, fortune and
lives. Test engineers have generated a set of test cases to validate against the user requirements. The
highest number of reduction can save a cost of testing. When dealing with a large line of code (LOCs)
there still has redundancy happened. Our experiment studies about hybrid tReduct GNA_SA and the
existing strategies to counter test redundancy reduction issues. In our experiment, we apply four
(tReductLAHC, tReductSA, tReductGNA and tReduct GNA_SA) test suite reduction strategies for six
different situation. After that, we then measure the effectiveness of the diversified solutions of four
test suite reduction strategies. Our experiment shows that a new hybrid strategy tReduct GNA_SA
offers more effectiveness to reduce redundancy compared to existing work.

Freedom In Larry And Andy Wachowski s The Matrix
In The Matrix, the theme is freedom. The request asked by the writers, Larry and Andy Wachowski, is:
Is freedom possible? I ve recited the April 8, 1996 draft of their script, and observed at the film as
well. The theme of freedom is discovered in both, but presented with more uncertainty and subtlety in
the film.
On one hand, a quarrel is made repeatedly that freedom is impossible. The Matrix, after all, is the
deportation of all freedom. As Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) says, when telling to Neo (Keanu
Reeves) the history of earth:
MORPHEUS: I came to realize the obviousness of the truth. What is the Matrix? Control.
The Oracle (Gloria Foster), even though working to release mankind, actually doesn t have faith in in

You ll remember you don t believe in any of this fate crap. You re in control of your own life.
Remember?
Neo doesn t have faith in in fate, but the Oracle surely does. After all, an oracle is somebody who
makes predictions. By definition, the Oracle believes in fate i.e. that the future is previously written
and thus can be foretold.
On going the view that freedom is incredible, even Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving, playing the human
representative of the Matrix) is himself without freedom. When he s tormenting Morpheus, says:
AGENT SMITH: I hate this place. This zoo. This prison. This reality, whatever you want to call it.
Agent Smith, in regulatory humanity, has become trapped himself. In fact, while Agent Smith s
knowledge doesn t fit squarely into a quarrel as to whether freedom is or isn t possible, nonetheless his
knowledge helps us explore the theme of freedom from a different point of view.
And, of course, there s Neo s name: when you reorganise the letters, it spells One.
It appears pretty clear that true freedom is presented as being incredible. In which case, possibly man
is, in many ways, just like the machineries he serves in the film. Your car is a mechanism. How much

exhaustion, thereby adding emotional appeal to the news piece in order to persuade readers for more

understand that the numbers mean more than a digit on a page; they are a measure of human suffering,

Novel Windflower- Western and Eskimo Culture
In the novel the WINDFLOWER, there is a presence of two different cultures the western culture and
the Eskimo culture. In history, we as the readers know that aboriginals were cruelly treated and the
western people tried to assimilate their culture. Interestingly, the author, Gabrielle Roy decided to
portray a part of the Eskimos in the novel, WINDFLOWER, as assimilated to create conflict with
minor characters. The more notable characters that have been shown to defy the western cultures was
only Uncle Ian and Winnie. Even still, many of the Eskimos are shown to believe that the western
culture was the more dominant belief. The effect this had was that the interactions shown with the
minor characters and Elsa. To touch on how the Eskimos thought that the white culture was superior
and many had already assimilated is shown in a subtle touch provided by the first chapter that showed
how accepting the Eskimos were to the close proximity of the whites. In page 6, the author writes,
Nowadays they wore short dresses of flowered cotton, over which floated sweaters as shapeless as
sacks , The effect of something as petty as clothing may not seem like much but it contains a larger
effect than one would expect. These clothes originated from western culture, if the whites were not
present the Eskimos would have been perfectly content with what they had parkas and pretty sealskin
boots of former times (Pg 6). This can infer that the Eskimos already had a mindset of the western

Components Of Engineering Design And Analysis
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1. ENGINEERING MATERIALS Materials are an important aspect
of engineering design and analysis. The importance of engineering materials can be noted from the
fact that historical ages have been named after materials. Materials Science forms the basic foundation
for engineers in product development because the structures, components, and devices that design are
limited by the properties of the materials. In the customer driven competitive business environment,
the product quality is of paramount importance [1]. The product or end application quality has been
found to be influenced by the engineering design, type of materials selected and the processing
technology employed. Therefore, the importance of engineering materials and their process techniques
are art of today s engineering world. There are wide categories of materials available which have
shown their potential in various engineering applications ranging from aerospace to household. The
materials are usually selected by considering their properties, specific application areas, advantages
and limitations. The challenge for designers is to select an optimal material suitable for the specific
design requirements. The complex design need in modern science generally lead to development of
newer materials to meet the specific operating conditions and regimes [1]. The new materials are
today developed from the conventional materials by both structural and surface (extrinsic)
modifications. In

Essay On The Secret Of Humanity
Humanity is a term that is used to describe essential characteristics of a human s nature. When most
people think of humanity, they would think of it as having the emotional right to feel for others,
compassion and morally good behaviors. While I do agree with this, in regard to this film, I view
humanity as the total opposite. With the world evolving and changing every day, the definition of
humanity has no exact answer. I would align the broad term of humanity with the phrase survival of
the fittest, meaning that a person would do anything it takes to survive in this world. In the film The
Secret of NIMH, it uses various animals to show many different perspectives of humanity that people
have on a human s nature. While characters such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is very uncommon for a small animal such as herself to be doing alone, especially with a huge cat
by the name of Dragon lurking nearby. These actions alone demonstrate the depth of risks that she
would take in order to save her children and her home. By her going out of her way to protect her
loved ones, this shows the loving and determined characteristics she has as a mother which could
possibly be described as being humane.
Another character that many people may say have various aspects of humanity is Sullivan. Personally,
Sullivan is a very interesting character in my opinion. Sullivan is Jenner s gullible, reluctant sidekick
and temperamental pushover. Although he may seem very vulnerable, Jenner has a significant identity
of his own. For example in the scene where the rats of NIMH were in the council chamber discussing
their ideas about relocating to Thorn Valley, Sullivan was very intense and passionate about his
opinions and he was not afraid to robustly voice them at all. I would also describe Sullivan s position
in this movie as an anti villain due to his nervous and hesitant reactions when he and Jenner concocts
the plan to kill Nicodemus. Jenner takes full advantage of Sullivan s weakness and manipulates him
until Sullivan has change of mind during the act of killing Nicodemus. Many people could argue that
Sullivan s neutral position and his change of heart in order to do the right thing justifies that he

Compare And Contrast Mlk And Malcolm X
I Have a Dream which was delivered in 1963 by Martin Luther King Jr. and The Ballet or the Bullet
which was delivered in 1964 by Malcolm X are two speeches with similar ideas but different
viewpoints. In this time period, African Americans did not have the same rights as whites. Malcolm X
is arguing that African Americans should have the same rights as whites to protect future generations,
and the people should do so violently. While MLK is saying the people should do the same but
peacefully. Both men, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr., had similar goals, but they had different
ideas on how to accomplish them; MLK had the better ideas. One idea that was presented in both
speeches was on how African Americans should obtain their civil rights. Malcolm X argues that

this kind of stand, your little children will look at you and think shame (X 2). He is saying to make the

fact that children are ripped of their selfhood and dignity. For example he says, We can never be
satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self hood and robbed of their dignity by signs
stating: For whites only (King Jr. 2). He wants his audience to know that the signs are going to hurt
the children. He also wants the people not to create those signs. Malcolm X and MLK had some of the
same ideas in their speech and different ways on how to accomplish them, but in the end Martin
Luther King Jr had the most correct ideas. MLK wanted everything to be nonviolent and peaceful. He
truly cared on how to have blacks obtain their civil rights, having his audience to stand up for blacks,

San Luis Rey
The Bridge of San Luis Rey by Thornton Wilder mainly takes place in Lima, Peru. Lima is also
known as the capital of Peru and is located at the coastline. In the story, the city is home to many
different kinds of people, from very mentally unstable people to the religious individuals. Santa Maria
de Cluxambuqua is also another place that the story visits, and Marquesa de Montemayor takes a
pilgrimage to the shrine because she found out earlier that her daughter became pregnant. The mood
of the story is gloomy from the beginning, as the story starts with the Bridge of San Luis Rey

Montemayor. She was apart of the higher class, and had a daughter named Dona Clara. Dona Clara
moved to Spain to be married, which hurt her mother beyond explanation. Marquesa de Montemayor
later goes on a few trips and returns to Lima, Peru with her companion Pepita, where they both die on

affairs with Perichole. His cause of death was an infection. Esteban eventually attempts suicide, but
fails, and returns to Lima, Peru. Esteban goes on the bridge and dies. Finally, the last two main
characters are introduced, which are Uncle Pio and Don Jaime. Uncle Pio is the caretaker of Camila

Ascetic Hermits
Every single person in the world, regardless of their race, religion or gender, is different. Therefore,
there is more than one way to reach God, enlightenment, or whatever each respected person chooses
to believe in. In Christianity, there are two main paths taken to reach the divine; the communal path
embracing obedience and the individual route which focuses on asceticism. The Sayings of the Desert
Fathers and The Rule of St. Benedict in English reveal what each road to the divine entails while
explaining how the ascetic hermits and monks live for the mutual goal of reaching unity with God.
When taking the communal path to reach salvation, some people decide to become obedient monks
and live in monasteries. Once in a monastery, monks are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These followers can be referred to as ascetic hermits since they heavily rely on self discipline rather
than obedience. Hermits are constantly in journey, they don t have a permanent residency since they
withdraw themselves from society and all other formal ways of living. In order to be an ascetic hermit,
one must live off the food of the land, since they are living in complete isolation other than when they
pass by monasteries and stay for a few days. Therefore, hermits must have discernment and be able to
discipline themselves to stay on course with what God s scriptures tell them to do. If they fall off
course, they pray and confess their sins to God. Abba Anthony in The Sayings of the Desert Fathers
said that the great work of hermits was to always take the blame for his own sins before God and to
expect temptation to his last breath (Ward 2). Everyone will always have temptations, it s what makes
them human. However, it is one s own choice in whether to act on them or not. Ascetic hermits on the
individual path to the divine also practice hesychasm, which is constant prayer and silence. Bessarion,
a Desert Father, told a story when [he] came to [a prisoner s] cell [he] found [the prisoner] standing at
prayer with his hands raised towards heaven. For fourteen days he remained thus (Ward 41). This is
merely one of many stories of hesychasm in The Desert Fathers. Furthermore, the number

Gait Variability And Fall Risk
Gait Variability and Fall Risk in Older Adults
Abdulrahman M. Aldahmashi University of Pittsburgh Motor Learning and Control of Movement
Dr. Susan Whitney November 2, 2014
Introduction
Falling is described as resting on the ground or the floor accidently without being caused by intrinsic
incident or tremendous hazard (Ayoubi Launay, 2014; Tuunainen, Rasku, Jäntti, Pyykkö, 2014). It is
also defined as unexpected, unintended, unprovoked alteration in body position causing an individual
to be in an inferior level and not resulted from internal disturbance (Menant, Schoene, Sarofim, Lord,
2014).
Background Information
Fall is the major cause of injury in the elderly, which places more load on the health care system
(Krasovsky, Lamontagne, Feldman, Levin, 2014). Samuel D. Towne Jr. and his colleagues conducted
a study to calculate the cost of hospitalizing older people as a result of falling in Texas Hospital.
77,086 fallers were hospitalized, costing around 3.1 billion dollars in 2011, which is an increase of
around 2 billion dollars since 2007 (Towne, Ory, Smith, 2014). Moreover, fall directly causes 21,649
deaths and indirectly causes 5,402 deaths in the United States in 2010 (Stevens Rudd, 2014). Also,
420,000 individuals around the world die yearly because of falling (Mignardot et al., 2014). Most falls
in older adults take place during walking (Lee, Verghese, Holtzer, Mahoney, Oh Park, 2014).
Therefore, falls are related to gait variability

The Impact Of Multi-Ethnicity On Queer Identity
The Impact of Multi Ethnicity on Queer Identity During the interview, Hans pointed out that his multi
ethnic background has a big impact on his identity formation and his current lifestyle. In particular, he
stressed on the psychological trauma of the doubt, that it would be impossible for him to know for
certain if discrimination has prevented him from access to tangible opportunities or benefits: there is
looming sense of did I not get this because of my lack of skill or talent or is it because of my sexual
identity and race? I think the doubt is even more pervasive and detrimental than any one instance of
explicit discrimination. He stated that this doubt is ever present, and he often feels helpless about it,
because racism and heterosexism is built in most of the societies and cultures, and most of systemic
prejudice derives from actions and ideologies that are covert and oblique. Prejudice is dark, and
idiotic, and frustrating, and pure negativity... I try not to get too bogged down with the fact that I feel
that my personal culture is working against my ultimate goals in life.
Although he never experienced bullying or abusive relationship, he dealt with various forms of
microaggressions and subtle discrimination against his sexuality and his ethnicity throughout his life.
For example, a form of microinvalidation happens when his female friends make insensitive
comments as you don t dress well for gay guy, because this comment carries hidden insulting
message.

on the world including Canadian ecosystem. Humans have added to this effect due to their
irresponsible use of fossil fuels and polluting the environment increasing the amount of green house

the ocean absorbing the carbon from the atmosphere reacting with the water and forming carbonic

4th Period When you hear the term biome, you think of plants and animals in the same biodiversity. A
biome is a group of similar ecosystems that cover a broad area, and maintained under the climate
conditions of the region, especially such a community that has developed to climax. Biomes are often
defined by abiotic factors such as climate, relief, geology, soils, and vegetation. There are five major
categories of biomes on earth. In these five, there are many sub biomes, under which are many more
well defined ecosystems. Do you know the most important biomes? The Desert biome is one of the

However, even after getting Independence from the European colonial rule, the European bourgeoisies
still continues to decolonise the minds of people in post colonial countries through language. One of
the main features of imperial oppression is control over language. The imperial education system

the medium through which conceptions of truth , order , and reality becomes established. Such power

Big Band Swing Analysis
Big Band Swing was innovated in jazz music from 1910 to 1940 when it declined. This was a highly
influential time when mass compositions were produced and many bands sprung to the attention of
North America. From the typical band set up began the emergence of arrangers who became crucial in
leading the band. The way each piece was played had to be worked through before it was ready to
present to the band to begin practicing. Arrangers changed new compositions and old melodies alike
as they pleased, through changing the basic elements like key, instrumentation and form.
Arrangements were usually written in strophic form featuring many repeated sections. The most
popular forms were the 32 bar AABA form or the 12 bar blues. It became popular ... Show more

An arranger from the Big Band Swing era examines every part of a piece, from dynamics to phrasing
to form. Composers brought swing music to life and to the forefront of the jazz scene. The vibrant
sounds enamoured listeners across North America of vocal pieces and instrumentals alike and brought
its musicians to a larger audience. Large ensembles grew in popularity and so the Big Band Swing era
was born. Musicians loved the thick texture and full sound of a large scale band, and it pleased
composers even more so. Big Band Swing was written to be danced to, and the live band helped that
aesthetic visually and audibly. Composers like Ellington had more instruments to compose for and
more players to play independent and contrapuntal melodies. Arrangers began to emerge in each band,
to guide the many members of the band through the composition. The improvisation loving jazz
players moved slightly away from the main melodies until they became difficult to discern. With large
groups of players alternating the track spontaneously it became jarring and individual musicians were
not heard. Arrangers who were skilled in music theory began to notate exactly what each player would
play so the piece would flow better and each voice could be heard. They also chose the form and
melodic expansion of the pieces which the band followed strictly. The themes of the arrangements
were then easily conveyed. Arrangers have an extensive knowledge of music theory and how to read
and write their own compositions as well as re writing previously released tracks. Arrangers liked to
arrange established pieces and rewrite them for their own band to play, while still retaining a
semblance of the initial recording. However they sometimes designed new arrangements for their own
songs, like Ellington who often recorded his compositions a number of times with a new

My Philosophy Of Education Essay
Philosophy of Education My purpose of getting any education was to learn all that I can learn and to
be a productive citizen in today s society. My purpose of getting an education and pursuing a degree in
elementary education is to have an impact on many students futures, change students lives, and to help
students to believe in themselves. I will do this by believing in my students and pushing them to
achieve their goals. As a teacher, I understand that politics and geographic zones have a big influence
on what schools are supplied with, and they can have an impact on the education that a student gets.
As a teacher, I will not let these things get in the way of providing my students with a quality
education, and I will not let these things hinder what my students learn. My philosophy of education is
that every child should be given a chance to learn. All children are different, and most ... Show more

I have to make sure that these students are learning the same concepts and skills that the other students
are learning. I will refer to the students IEP s when making instructional decisions for these students. I
will make sure that these students have the accommodations that they need, and I will make sure that
these accommodations are not visible to other students. I will believe in these students and have high
expectations for these students as well. Some trends of education are similar to my philosophy of
education. All children don t learn on the same styles, and some teachers understand that. The only
thing I don t agree with about the educational system in today s society is the standardized testing.
This is mostly in the public school system. As an inspiring teacher, I understand that all students will
not test well. I don t think a test should determine whether a child passes or fails, but I do think it
should determine what a teacher spends more time on with that particular

Themes Of Beauty And Mortality In Romanticism
Romanticism is a term that is difficult to define both historically and conceptually. It was not, in its
own time, a romantic movement. To discuss how the themes of beauty and mortality are intertwined in
Romantic poetry I will be focusing on one major Romantic poet, William Wordsworth. According to
the Oxford Dictionary, Beauty is defined as a beautiful or pleasing thing or person in particular, and a
combination of qualities such as shape, colour, or form that pleases the aesthetic senses especially
sight. Mortality is defined as the state being subject to death. To intertwine these themes it would
mean having a theme that describes the beauty in all things, characters, nature, scenery and how these
will all die and fade away but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Should she ever be far from him he prays that she remember how they stood together in this place and
that he came there with great energy and love. He asks she never forget how, after five years, he
returned, and felt a greater love for the beautiful place because she was with him. The theme of
memory is also very central to this poem. He not only visited Tintern Abbey, he remembered it.
Wordsworth himself knows that he will always have these fond memories for the rest of his life and
now, with this poem everyone who reads it will also be able to share, somewhat, what he experienced.
The realism of the poem is clear to us because the iambic pentameter resembles spoken English, thus
making us feel more connected to it. To My Sister is a poem dedicated to Dorothy. It is sensuous
evoking our senses of sight, smell and touch, once again reinforcing beauty within nature. Wordsworth
wants his sister to come outside and enjoy the openness with him and seize the day. There is an
urgency and excitement to his request. It is created with the use of an exclamation mark. He tells his
sister that their hearts will make silent laws if they allow themselves time to enjoy the beautiful spring
weather. Some silent laws our hearts will

Tuberculosis Or Tb Is Caused By Mycobacterium Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis or TB is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Mycobacteria are aerobic bacteria,
which do not form spores and are non motile. They are curved, intracellular rods, and have cell walls
made of glycolipids and phospholipidglycans that protect them from lysosomal attacks. TB is one of
the world s deadliest diseases. Approximately one out of three people worldwide are infected; in 2014,
9.6 million people were diagnosed with TB and there were 1.5 million deaths (CDC, 2014). This
disease is highly contagious, and although the number of cases reported has decreased, the decrease
was smaller than in previous years. New strains of drug resistant TB pose a threat to the global
population as a whole; less than half of those diagnosed with drug resistant TB are successfully cured.
Humans are the only known carrier of Tuberculosis; it is spread from person to person through aerosol
droplets released into the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, speaks, or sings. The infection
cannot be spread by: shaking someone s hand, sharing food or drink, touching bed linens or toilet
seats, sharing toothbrushes, or kissing (CDC, 2014). One cough from an infected individual can
produce 3,000 infected droplets and it only takes ten bacilli to initiate an infection (Herchline, 2015).
Since the disease is spread through the air, micro epidemics are common in closed communities such
as hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, submarines, and on transcontinental flights.

  • 2. Confidelity In King Lear Essay The depravation of the characters morality, as a consequence of their hamartia that lusts for the inordinate love, entice them to commit immoral acts and lead to their ineluctable condemnation. Goneril, the eldest daughter of King Lear, portrays the influence of lust on morality through her increasing malevolence. Shakespeare depicts her character with a strong thirst for power yet still maintains some restrains in her actions before she becomes intrigued by the congeniality between Edmund and herself. After which, she develops into a monster that destroys anything, anyone obstructing her way as she surrenders to her lust for Edmund. As Edgar exposes the letter that Goneril writes to Edmund about the plot against her husband, the wicked plan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, the symbolic use of goatish establishes the lecherous nature of man that tempts Gloucester to commit adultery. The mythological allusion with the reference to the constellations symbolizes the lascivious, demonic nature, which dictates the superstitious belief that an illegitimate son born outside of marriage, like Edmund, is ineluctably evil in nature. Despite Gloucester s blame on the nature, his sin brings disturbance to the order of the universe with the birth of his bastard son, which results in his nemesis as the retribution of his indulgence in lust. Shakespeare s use of expletive, fut , establishes Edmund s despise towards his father, who brings him to this world due to his failure to resist the temptation, yet labels him illegitimate for his own flaws. Authors sometimes convey dramatic irony through diction that symbolizes something to the audience. Oedipus, a play written by Sophocles, contains numerous accounts where the author uses words to convey a deeper truth about characters and their experiences. Sight, light, blindness, and darkness all have a literal meaning, but when placed into this play, with its intricate plot, they express the dramatic ironies that unfold between Oedipus and his past. Greek tragedies are known to use language that expresses the deeper truths about the to the audiences. Sight, the most common word used by play writers, brings about a whole new meaning to it rather that its normal literal meaning. The impression of fear and pity may be produced by sight (Richardson). At first glance this quote looks as if it is mainly speaking about the audience s reaction of what they saw yet as people analyze this deeper, they arise at the realization that this is discussing how actors within a play are affected greatly by what they see. It can be taken both ways but in the case of this essay, the people that knew the truth of Oedipus past and the prophecy felt remorse and pity for him because for a man to endure such hardships yet be blind to the truth ... The importance of engineering materials can be noted from the fact that historical ages have been named after materials. Materials Science forms the basic foundation for engineers in product development because the structures, components, and devices that design are limited by the properties of the materials. In the customer driven competitive business environment, the product quality is of paramount importance [1]. The product or end application quality has been found to be influenced by the engineering design, type of materials selected and the processing technology employed. Therefore, the importance of engineering materials and their process techniques are art of today s engineering world. There are wide categories of materials available which have shown their potential in various engineering applications ranging from aerospace to household. The materials are usually selected by considering their properties, specific application areas, advantages and limitations. The challenge for designers is to select an optimal material suitable for the specific design requirements. The complex design need in modern science generally lead to development of newer materials to meet the specific operating conditions and regimes [1]. By her going out of her way to protect her loved ones, this shows the loving and determined characteristics she has as a mother which could possibly be described as being humane. Another character that many people may say have various aspects of humanity is Sullivan. Personally, Sullivan is a very interesting character in my opinion. Sullivan is Jenner s gullible, reluctant sidekick and temperamental pushover. Although he may seem very vulnerable, Jenner has a significant identity of his own. For example in the scene where the rats of NIMH were in the council chamber discussing their ideas about relocating to Thorn Valley, Sullivan was very intense and passionate about his opinions and he was not afraid to robustly voice them at all. I would also describe Sullivan s position in this movie as an anti villain due to his nervous and hesitant reactions when he and Jenner concocts the plan to kill Nicodemus. Jenner takes full advantage of Sullivan s weakness and manipulates him until Sullivan has change of mind during the act of killing Nicodemus. Many people could argue that Sullivan s neutral position and his change of heart in order to do the right thing justifies that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Sayings of the Desert Fathers and The Rule of St. Benedict in English reveal what each road to the divine entails while explaining how the ascetic hermits and monks live for the mutual goal of reaching unity with God. These followers can be referred to as ascetic hermits since they heavily rely on self discipline rather than obedience. In order to be an ascetic hermit, one must live off the food of the land, since they are living in complete isolation other than when they pass by monasteries and stay for a few days. Therefore, hermits must have discernment and be able to discipline themselves to stay on course with what God s scriptures tell them to do. If they fall off course, they pray and confess their sins to God. Abba Anthony in The Sayings of the Desert Fathers said that the great work of hermits was to always take the blame for his own sins before God and to expect temptation to his last breath (Ward 2). Everyone will always have temptations, it s what makes them human. However, it is one s own choice in whether to act on them or not. • 30. Gait Variability And Fall Risk Gait Variability and Fall Risk in Older Adults Abdulrahman M. Aldahmashi University of Pittsburgh Motor Learning and Control of Movement Dr. Susan Whitney November 2, 2014 Introduction Falling is described as resting on the ground or the floor accidently without being caused by intrinsic incident or tremendous hazard (Ayoubi Launay, 2014; Tuunainen, Rasku, Jäntti, Pyykkö, 2014). It is also defined as unexpected, unintended, unprovoked alteration in body position causing an individual to be in an inferior level and not resulted from internal disturbance (Menant, Schoene, Sarofim, Lord, 2014). Background Information Fall is the major cause of injury in the elderly, which places more load on the health care system (Krasovsky, Lamontagne, Feldman, Levin, 2014). Samuel D. Towne Jr. and his colleagues conducted a study to calculate the cost of hospitalizing older people as a result of falling in Texas Hospital. 77,086 fallers were hospitalized, costing around 3.1 billion dollars in 2011, which is an increase of around 2 billion dollars since 2007 (Towne, Ory, Smith, 2014). Moreover, fall directly causes 21,649 deaths and indirectly causes 5,402 deaths in the United States in 2010 (Stevens Rudd, 2014). Also, 420,000 individuals around the world die yearly because of falling (Mignardot et al., 2014). The way each piece was played had to be worked through before it was ready to present to the band to begin practicing. Arrangers changed new compositions and old melodies alike as they pleased, through changing the basic elements like key, instrumentation and form. Composers brought swing music to life and to the forefront of the jazz scene. The vibrant sounds enamoured listeners across North America of vocal pieces and instrumentals alike and brought its musicians to a larger audience. Large ensembles grew in popularity and so the Big Band Swing era was born. Musicians loved the thick texture and full sound of a large scale band, and it pleased composers even more so. Big Band Swing was written to be danced to, and the live band helped that aesthetic visually and audibly. Composers like Ellington had more instruments to compose for and more players to play independent and contrapuntal melodies. Arrangers began to emerge in each band, to guide the many members of the band through the composition. The improvisation loving jazz players moved slightly away from the main melodies until they became difficult to discern. With large groups of players alternating the track spontaneously it became jarring and individual musicians were not heard. Arrangers who were skilled in music theory began to notate exactly what each player would play so the piece would flow better and each voice could be heard. They also chose the form and melodic expansion of the pieces which the band followed strictly. The themes of the arrangements were then easily conveyed. Arrangers have an extensive knowledge of music theory and how to read and write their own compositions as well as re writing previously released tracks. He not only visited Tintern Abbey, he remembered it. • 45. Tuberculosis Or Tb Is Caused By Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Tuberculosis or TB is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Mycobacteria are aerobic bacteria, which do not form spores and are non motile. They are curved, intracellular rods, and have cell walls made of glycolipids and phospholipidglycans that protect them from lysosomal attacks. TB is one of the world s deadliest diseases. Approximately one out of three people worldwide are infected; in 2014, 9.6 million people were diagnosed with TB and there were 1.5 million deaths (CDC, 2014). This disease is highly contagious, and although the number of cases reported has decreased, the decrease was smaller than in previous years. New strains of drug resistant TB pose a threat to the global population as a whole; less than half of those diagnosed with drug resistant TB are successfully cured. Humans are the only known carrier of Tuberculosis; it is spread from person to person through aerosol droplets released into the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, speaks, or sings. The infection cannot be spread by: shaking someone s hand, sharing food or drink, touching bed linens or toilet seats, sharing toothbrushes, or kissing (CDC, 2014). One cough from an infected individual can produce 3,000 infected droplets and it only takes ten bacilli to initiate an infection (Herchline, 2015). Since the disease is spread through the air, micro epidemics are common in closed communities such as hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, submarines, and on transcontinental flights. ...
