Firebird Electric, Us
Firebird Electric, U.S.1
In 1994, Firebird Electric, U.S. (Firebird), was the first foreign supplier to relocate to the United States
to supply the Road Master Car Company. Located in Columbia, South Carolina, Firebird supplies
headlights, taillights, lid lamps, center high mounts, and front turn assemblies to Road Master. Road
Master sales account for 98.5 percent of Firebird s revenues. Original equipment manufacturing
(OEM) lighting is supplied to the Orangeburg plant, the Columbia auto plant, and the Columbia
motorcycle plant. In addition, service (aftermarket) products are made for foreign and domestic
demands. Weekly shipments go to Road Master Canada Manufacturing and Road Master De Mexico.
Service models also are shipped to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firebird Electric has been awarded OEM production for the lighting on the 2005 model two door B
car. This report focuses on the procedures and decisions involved in supplying the housing for
upcoming production.
HOUSING DEFINITION AND SUPPLY
Housings are fabricated through die injection molding. A resin is melted, injected, and stamped into
the die mold. The housing s function is to attach to the body of the vehicle, protect internal
components (cords, bulbs, etc.), and hold components in place so that the light functions as designed.
Each make/model has unique housing specifications with regard to size, durability, holes, and
necessary attachments to perform these duties.
As stated earlier, Firebird has the ability to produce housings in the molding division; however, of the
approximately 240 parts presently molded in Manufacturing IV, only 11 are housings. Firebird also
outsources production of housings to four central South Carolina molding firms: FPE, The South
Carolina Plastics Company (TOPCO), Central South Carolina Plastics (COPCO), and Charleston
Custom Plastics (WCP).
NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: DEFINING REQUIREMENTS
The customer, internal departments, and potential suppliers contribute to designing quality into
molded parts. Due to Road Master s strict quality requirements and just in time inventory systems,
nonconformance results in high costs, hinders customer relations, and endangers

The Beauty Of Art Essay
People have appreciated numerous forms of art over many decades and continue to analyze what art is
and how the aesthetics of it affect viewers. Audiences have gathered to ooh and ahh at art galleries,
musicals, play and ballet performances, and concerts. In fact people even travel long distances to view
world renowned tourist sites, such as the Sistine Chapel. There are billions of creations and events that
are considered art whether that art is valued by a large audience or the artist alone. Either way, art has
become a tremendously significant method of entertainment in the world today, even if one does not
recognize the entertainment as art. My own definition of art is: any form of expression that contains
effective aesthetics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The beauty of art varies among individuals, but either way, it is a beautiful thing. Art is meant to
portray a multitude of emotions through words or images and those emotions strongly affect most
people. For example, Joseph M. Martin s song entitled The Awakening features a four part harmony
with lyrics that portray a dream (a nightmare rather) where the world lacks music.
Lyrics:
I dreamed a dream, a silent dream, of a land not far away
Where no bird sang, no steeples rang, and teardrops fell like rain.
I dreamed a dream; a silent dream.
I dreamed a dream of a land so filled with pride
That every song, both weak and strong, withered and died.
I dreamed a dream
No hallelujah; not one hosanna!
No song of love, no lullaby.
And no choir sang to change the world.
No pipers played, no dancers twirled.
I dreamed a dream; a silent dream.
Awake, awake!
Awake, Awake!
Awake my soul and sing, the time for praise has come.
The silence of the night has passed,
A new day has begun!
Let music never die in me;
Forever let my spirit sing!
Wherever emptiness is found let there be joy and glorious sound.
Let music never die in me; forever let my spirit sing!
Let all our voices join as one to praise the giver of the sun!
Awake, awake!
Let music live!

The Cyclical Argument Of Phaedo
The cyclical argument of the Phaedo imparts the ideology Socrates had in regard to the immortality of
the soul and his views about death, which he was about to face himself. His most faithful followers are
astonished that Socrates is not desolate about his ill fate. In fact, he is delighted with it as he proclaims
that the life of a philosopher is merely a preparation for death since the mind is most pure when the
stresses of the body is felt least. But even after the body is discarded after death, the soul will live on
for eternity. After much skepticism and doubt, he begins a discourse in which he attempts to
authenticate the immortality of the soul. In the cyclical argument or the argument of opposites, he ends
up persuading his followers that the soul is indeed immortal.
The argument begins with the discussion of the opposites, Between each of these pairs of opposites
there are two processes: from the one to the other and then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He says that the living come from the dead in this way no less than the dead from the living, and, if
that is so, it seems to be a sufficient proof that the souls of the dead must be somewhere whence they
can come back again (72a). Death is the release of the soul. Socrates conveys that the body is a prison,
and that the soul is imprisoned. The body acts as the source of needs and desires, and the attempt to
satisfy these needs produces disruptive conflicts that interfere with reasoning and prevent us from
attaining knowledge. The soul has the potential to have a total and real perception of the actual truth
itself when not impeded by the body. Socrates possessed a rationale to embrace death, in that he
deduced that freedom from the corrupting influences of the body would enable him to attain true
knowledge. He holds the conviction that when bodily hindrances are disregarded, we can concentrate
completely upon the

Software Development And Its Development
As we saw throughout the last forty or so years is that computer systems frequently evolve and that
developmental change is inevitable and software development is no stranger to this, which is where
agile development or the term that some use agile software development comes into play. This is a
concept that searches for alternatives to the traditional way of managing a project and based on the
foundation that change is essential to software development. Throughout this paper, we will look at
the reasons that brought about the change in thinking with regard to software development, discuss
some of the key principles of agile development, methods under agile development and the benefits of
the use of agile development. Let s begin this document with a discussion into what brought about the
change in thinking.
The biggest reason for the change in methodology in software development is due to the failures
realized through the use of traditional sequential development. With these failures an assembly of
individuals developed a declaration of policy that included the following ideologies: Individuals and
interactions over processes and tools, working software over comprehensive documentation, customer
collaboration over contract negotiation and finally responding to change. ( Manifesto for agile
software development, n.d.). Let s continue on with this document and examine at some of the
principles with regard to the concept of agile development.

Can be used to estimate multiple proteins in a mixture of proteins
If the given sample is a mixture of proteins, the proteins are also separated for further use, for example

Charles Babbage, A Brilliant And Well Educated Man
Charles Babbage was a brilliant and well educated man. His mother, Plumleigh Babbage gave birth to
him in 1791 A.D. His father s name was Benjamin Babbage. He was one of four children. His father
was a banking partner of founding Praed s Co. in London. Benjamin was a rich man, so he and his
wife had big plans for Charles to attend many good schools; but when he was around the age of eight,
he had to move to a country school in order to recover from a life threatening fever. He had an
unstable and delicate health status for most of his early life, which kept him from going to the schools
his parents wanted him to go to. He relied on private lessons and teachings for most of his childhood.
He attended two different colleges as well. First, he went to Trinity College in Cambridge but wasn t
pleased with the math program there. So, he then attended Peterhouse, in Cambridge. He was the best
mathematician at Peterhouse. He graduated from Peterhouse but didn t receive an honorary degree. He
wasn t successful when he first graduated. He did some lectures on astronomy every now and then;
And eventually helped to establish the Astronomical Society. A little later he received his honorary
degree without question. After receiving his honorary degree, he married Georgiana Whitmore. They
had eight children together. Five of their children never lived to become adults. In 1822, Charles

Physics Of Running Essay
Running is quite a brutal sport when it involves distance and proficiency. Force and distance
influences how runners run their race in track. They use speed, strength, flexibility and stability.
However, when a runner is running hard, the work creates more and more heat. The best way to
release the heat is through sweating. With the elements of energy and temperature, the force created
doesn t die and is regenerated through the race. By adding coolness in temperature and energy,
muscles don t get locked. The last thing anyone wants is an overworked muscle. With an overworked
muscle, you don t beat your time.
A muscle can work up to around 25 hertz of energy just from generated heat. The heat is based on the
size of who is competing and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The physics is located in his work, mass, distance, and speed. His whole body is dependent on the way
he resists the air drag and releases the heat. When he comes out of the blocks, he creates a force of 817
newton at a horizontal degree. The speed he keeps throughout the race is about 30 miles per hour.
Unlike the runners, he is able to let go of the heat with his resilient suit. Right out of the block, his
work is above two thousand and six hundred watts. The force that he creates right out of the starting
block is 2600 watts. This then impacts how much energy he uses in his 100 meter sprint. With this
much force in speed, he creates 2 watts per hour and 11.6 HP of power, and earns the gold medal.
Most runners in a sport run with a back like a pencil, while Bolt s height advances his air drag. His
stamina, physique and many other factors help his torso push against the air drag. The force and work
causes Usan bolt to win his races. When someone increases the speed, it is the shedding of heat that
impacts the race. The shedding of heat is the renewed energy that keeps a leveled speed in the
specified distance. Depending on the heat, one can always go the distance with their best shape and
speed. The real message is this, all runners

How the Civil Rights Movement Influenced the Women s...
The civil rights movement influenced the women s liberation movement in four key ways. First, it
provided women with a model for success on how a successful movement should organize itself.
Second, the civil rights movement broadened the concept of leadership to include women. Third, by
fighting for equality, the civil rights movement changed the culture of advocacy and made social
justice a legitimate cause. Finally, by eventually excluding women, the civil rights movement spurred
women to organize their own movement. Without the civil rights movement, the women s movement
likely would never taken off on its own. The civil rights movement (and the activists involved) gave
women a model for success. The method the civil rights movement ... Show more content on

Black women eventually earned college and graduate degrees and sought full time employment in
higher rates than either black men or white women, while maintaining a community service ethic. The
civil rights movement broadened the definition of leadership to include women, and left an impression
of women as powerful and determined activists. Jo An Robinson and Ella Baker are just two of the
many women who were able to take charge and make an impact on the movement. Robinson led the
Women s Political Council, which plotted strategy for a one day bus boycott in Montgomery following
Rosa Parks arrest. The Council was able to recruit clergy to lend their churches for mass meetings and
was able to tap into a new minister in town, Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. to lead the Montgomery
Improvement Association, which would coordinate the larger Montgomery Bus Boycotts . It was the
women that organized this key moment in the civil rights movement which was, in fact, spurred by a
woman, Rosa Parks, refusing to take her seat in the back of the bus. Ella Baker was similarly key in
the Civil Rights movement. She was instrumental in organizing a conference of student sit in activists
in 1960, forming the beginning of what would become the SNCC. By educating and fostering
leadership, Baker helped members to see themselves as potential leaders regardless of race or gender.

Hamlet Is Notorious For Its Critical Theme Of Revenge

Hamlet Essay Analysis
Shakespeare s Hamlet is infamous for its critical theme of revenge. However, the constant conflict
between action vs inaction insinuates a deeper concern. For starters, Prince Hamlet frequently creates
excuses to delay his father s revenge. He is always thinking of the consequences that may result if he
proceeds with his treason instead of avenging his father. On the contrary, Laertes is quick to avenge
his father, never letting honour get in the way of his vengeance. Just as he hears the news of his father
s death, he is quick to raid Elsinore in search of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, to prove the ghost is genuine, Hamlet decides that [a] play s the thing wherein [he ll]
catch the conscience of the king, for his treason. If the King is to face his own crime in the form of a
play, then he will show remorse for his evil deed, proving that the ghost is genuine and Hamlet can
confidently avenge his father. Once again, instead of murdering the King immediately after
confirmation, Hamlet remained in the theatre discussing and reciting poems of what he had just
witnessed with others, evidently restraining from his father s revenge. In addition to this, Hamlet sees
that the King is alone in his room and states he is praying, yet he does not murder the King quite as
yet. Hamlet decides not to kill the King whilst he is praying because Claudius did not give Lord
Hamlet the chance to cleanse himself of his sins before he died. As a result, Hamlet does not want to
send an incest breeding man to heaven whilst his glorious father is suffering in purgatory. This reveals
that Hamlet is a very critical thinker; always thinking of the consequences before he acts. Instead of
ridding himself of the burden as a livid mourner would have done, he decides to live with

Johann Sebastian Bach
In the 17th century, Johann Sebastian Bach changed the music of the classical world forever. Growing
up, he was a poor boy with several siblings, and his father, Johann Ambrosius Bach, was a musician
who had been playing instruments all of his life. Young Bach soon followed in his father s footsteps
but instead of the violin, he played the organ everyday for hours on end. Bach was no stranger to the
steps he would have to take to be a musician, because of his father s career path, he knew how hard it
would be to become a well known musician. He started his musical path by playing the organ for
ceremonies and royals. He persevered until he eventually reached the best music halls in Europe. He

Johann grew up in a large German home with five brothers and two sisters. However his family was
different than other families, his family was known as a musical family, For over two centuries, the
Bach s were a family of successful musicians, constituting an example that was exceptional even
among their contemporaries and has seemed increasingly spectacular to each succeeding age. Not only
did his immediate family play an instrument, but all of the generations of his family played a musical
instrument. Musical talent in this family has been traced back to Bach s great grandfather. Johann
Ambrosius Bach, Bach s father, taught him and his siblings to learn and love two traditional
instruments for the Baroque period: the violin and the harpsichord. Bach had a natural talent for
instruments, which had probably been passed on to him through his father s genes. While he was still
a child, Johann Ambrosius Bach died eight days after his belovéd wife, so now, both his parents were
dead, and he was looked after by his eldest brother, also named Johann Christoph . Bach s brother
followed a busy schedule, was in charge of his six brothers and sisters and he, was appointed town
organist in Eisenach in 1665. He or his assistant was expected to be present for all services on all
Sundays, feasts, and celebratory days as well as weekdays and to play organ during the choraliter.

Textual Analysis Weekend
From the beginning to the end of the music video Hmm for the Weekend by Coldplay featuring
Beyoncé (2015), the audience is shown a multiple array of colours and authentic sounds, from
traditional bells, to Chris Martin s angelic voice. However, the video also portrays prolific visuals of
the Indian culture. On one hand, viewers suggest it over generalizes the representation of an Indian
culture as it screens the false realties of race and ethics. On the other hand, there are those who suggest
it shows the appreciation of the culture. Through Jason Rodriquez s article Color Blind Ideology
Culture Appropriation of Hip Hop (2006), this paper will explain how the music video Hmm for the
Weekend by Coldplay featuring Beyoncé uses culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Rodriquez, color blind ideology is what leads to the assertion of essential sameness
between racial and ethnic groups despite unequal social locations and distinctive histories (165). In
this case, the targeted group is Coldplay since they are blinded by their political and social statuses as
artists while they use Indian culture to their advantage to maintain popularity in the music industry.
Rodriquez suggests that color blind ideology is noticed when the dominant group is aware of the
social, political, and economic status of both groups and uses the attributes from the minority group to
an extensive level (657). The political and artistic goal of the video frames the use of the Indian
festival Holi. In addition, it captures the religious tradition and uses it as a prop. The video essentially
plays off a false ideology towards the ethnic view of India as it inoculates the dominant picture of a
real Indian culture. The idea of sameness creates the illusion of how one can act and look as a real
Indian if dressed in a certain way, or if one celebrates the same tradition. Analysing the context of the
video through color blind ideology, it is important to view the social, economic and political status
between two different groups in order to realize how one group uses the other. The myth of sameness
is effective since it perpetuates the inequalities when one compares the difference between two
groups. Color blind ideology is a form of racism since it creates a dominant culture to admit to taking
familiarities from another culture without the dominant culture truly realizing the effect. For instance,
Coldplay uses their advantage as a popular culture music group to represent a variety of themes to
their fans and supporters; however, the group fails to realize their racial privilege and social status in

Blood Diamond Research Papers
In a lot of jewelry commercials, the main point is he went to name of store with the ring being a
diamond one. A popular way of selling an engagement ring by telling the consumer where they should
buy their engagement ring. The engagement ring, specifically ones with diamonds, is an interesting
concept that is known as a widespread tradition. One compelling notion is that a person has to spend
three months salary to buy one is also compelling. Some people would say that to be truly considered
engaged you would need to have a diamond. They also believe that diamonds are forever. The concept
is that diamonds are worth a lot more than other precious stone like emeralds and sapphires or
semiprecious stone like ambers and pearls. The price of diamonds is very high, and it can be higher
depending on the company and quality of cut. A lot people are worried that a lot of diamonds used for
the rings may be blood diamonds, also known as war s diamond, which are diamonds that have been
mined during war, so some claims that their diamond came from another source such as a lab. The
idea that diamonds are worth a lot of money is highly debatable because of how they are processed.
Are diamonds even worth the cost? There are a lot of studies dealing with diamonds and the diamond
trade. Most of the studies focus mostly on one aspect of the diamond trade while other show multiple
parts of the diamond trade. Some of the studies take into account the area where the diamonds are

Psychosocial Development In The Film My Girl
Psychosocial Development in the Film My Girl Rebeca Thezan Broward College: DEP 2002 Synopsis
For this assignment, I reflected upon how childhood psychosocial development is portrayed in film.
The film I chose to write about is titled My Girl, released in 1991, about an 11 year old girl named
Vada Sultenfuss and the changes she endured in the summer of 1972. Vada is a particular young girl
whose mother passed away during or after childbirth, leaving her to be raised by her emotionally
unavailable father, Harry, and her grandmother who has Alzheimer s. As if that weren t bad enough

Emotional intelligence relies so much on the influence of a parenting style. In this case, we see a
widower dedicated to his work. It is evident that he has as neglectful tendencies towards his daughter
on the threshold of adolescence. He has seemed uninvolved with Vada when she needed him the most
case being when Vada started hemorrhaging and seen yelling for her daddy. Shelly had become Vada s
antagonist, made it her duty as a woman to explain that what was happening to Vada was
menstruation. She went so far as to presumably giving Vada The Talk. having been explained about
the birds and the bees Vada wanted nothing to do with Thomas J, when he came soliciting her to go

The Effects Of Therapeutic Play With School Age Children
For children, surgery can be an overwhelming and stressful experience. Compared to adults, children
undergoing surgery are more likely to experience stress, anxiety, and feelings of ambiguity due to their
cognitive development and limited capacity to understand reasoning behind his or her surgery. Today,
the implementation of child focused preoperative preparation is lacking. With the increasing amount
of same day surgical procedures, children only have hours to build rapport with their healthcare team
and receive preparation. Play is an important component in interventions used with children who
experience stress in the hospital. Most studies focused on therapeutic play have been conducted on
preschool age children, which is why the authors of the current study chose to focus on the effects of
therapeutic play with school age children. The authors aimed to examine if school age children who
received therapeutic play would (a.) report lesser anxiety directly before/after surgery; (b.)
demonstrate lesser negative emotions during anesthesia; and (c.) report less pain following their
operation, when compared to school age children who received standard care. Two hundred and three
school age children undergoing day surgery participated in the current study and were randomly
assigned to either the experimental group (n=97) or to the control group (n=106). Those in the control
group received routine preparation at the time of admission to the unit for evaluation, which was

anywhere and not see a for sale sign or two sitting in front yards. People have lost jobs or been cut
back, and therefore driven out of their homes they once loved for something cheaper that they can
afford. Not only did this hurt each individual family, it hurt the economy as a whole. People who still
have their houses and can afford them are losing money on them because the value of their houses has
dropped due to the other houses in their neighborhood sitting empty. There are many different ways
that could possibly help this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another problem with stopping the building of new houses would be that a lot of companies,
businesses, cities, states, etc., have all ready budgeted the money for these housing projects. They set
aside money years ago in preparation for these projects and have them locked into a commitment to do
these houses. My solution for both is the same, put everything into the old houses. I understand that
legal contracts may have been built up, and since I am not a lawyer, I am not going to pretend that I
know that there is a way to get out of them or anything along those lines, but at least try. You also can
not stop building where you have all ready broke ground. But, for those that may not have the
contracts solidified yet, or have not broke ground, but have the money budgeted for the project, the
solution is simple, change where that money goes. Budgets are changed all the time. I am a teacher
and our budgets have been changed plenty in the past year along with our salaries, so I know it can be
done. Take that money and put it into the houses that all ready exist. A lot of people are vandalizing
and destroying these properties. Some destroy them while they are moving out because they are
frustrated that they have been foreclosed on. Others are houses that have been destroyed by locals who
see these houses as another open place to graffiti, break things, or steal stuff from. Most of those who
left the houses also did

College Football Narrative
It s game day and after a long day in school, I am already tired from the anticipation. I got up at 6:45
a.m., brushed my teeth and, with insane nervousness, laced up my stained worn in sneakers. Eight
hours later at full volume, the last class bell rings as the walls shook and vibrated like the tail of a
rattle snake, I feel the excitement immediately; there is a buzz of football anticipation coming from
my teammates; loud talking and laughter as the marching band lines up to enter the stadium. A little
voice inside my head is on repeat saying We got this! . I start buying it. And just like a blanket straight
out of the warm dryer a calm comes over me. I relished every minute as a student athlete. While

Hip Hop And The Aesthetics Of Criminalization Analysis
Hip hop has been and still is a huge influence on pop culture. It sets the theme, tone and even style for
the younger generation and the pop culture side helps you know which artists are in right now and
which are not. Hip hop dates back to the 1970s created in the South Bronx but it only really became
popular in the 1990s. According to the article Hip Hop and the Aesthetics of Criminalization by
Andrea Queeley in it states that hip hop was meant to express the Black and Latino experiences of
urban poverty but ended up hurting those races because it soon turned into perpetuating racist
stereotypes and racial discourse. Personally I feel that at one point in time there were messages of
positivity or takeaways in general about life and that

2b. Weaknesses
Although the USA market is very strong for Harley Davidson, they are making slow progress in
gaining market share in the international market. The customer loyalty that Harley Davidson enjoys in
the USA is challenged internationally by rival heavy weight manufacturers such as BMW, Triumph,
Honda and Kawasaki. Internationally, Europe has the largest demand for heavy weight motorcycles; in
which Harley Davidson has only managed to acquire less than 13% of this lucrative market (HD,
2011).
2c. Opportunities
One of Harley Davidson biggest opportunities is intrinsically linked to its major weakness.
Internationally there is a large bit of a very big pie that Harley Davidson has not managed to attain.
Although Harley Davidson has less than 13% of the heavy weight motorcycle sales in Europe, they
manage to hold the number 2 ranking in this market. This ranking indicates that no one competitor
owns the heavy weight market in Europe and suggests that the customer loyalty amongst the
competitors is far from what Harley Davidson enjoys in the USA.
Having achieved the number one ranking for sales to women, Harley Davidson still have a large
potential customer base in attracting more women riders. Since 2007 Harley Davidson has doubled its
marketing spend and released bikes more suited to women riders, who now account for 12% of Harley

The World Is Not Enough Essay
quot; The World Is Not Enough quot; is a great action adventure movie with exciting stunt scenes,
exotic locations, beautiful women and traditional Bond one liners. Pierce Brosnan carries on the role
of the world s most famous secret agent, James Bond in which was established by Sean Connery in
1962 s quot;Doctor No quot;. Since it is also the 19th installment to the longest running film series in
history, comparing this one to the older movies is like comparing one athlete to another. But hey, I
guess that s the fun of it all.To get more in depth of the film, let s see if the traditional Bond

Only 2 of them? It seems that Brosnan s Bond has become a Jenny Craig follower when it comes to
the number of women that are involved in his life. There seems like a shortage in women in this film
compared to the earlier films.
French actress Sophie Marceau plays Elektra King, who is the daughter of a tycoon who wants to link
his pipeline from the former Soviet controlled areas to Europe. Marceau does an incredible job of
playing her role as Elektra. Especially during the intimate scenes with Bond and with her so called
captor, Renard. Denise Richards is the other Bond girl in this adventure. She plays a nuclear scientist
named Dr.
Christmas Jones. Her performance in the film is ok, but could be better. For the most part, her part
doesn t fit into the film as much as Marceau s character. Basically, she just in the film to kill time and
isn t all that helpful to Bond. She s just eye candy for the film and I think that producers just added her
in the film to bring more people to the theaters. 6.
The earlier James Bond films went by the format of having the lead villain and a henchman as the bad
guys. In this film, two people, Elektra King (spoiler) and Renard share the role of lead villain. Scottish
actor Robert Carlyle plays the character Renard, who was shot in the head by 009. Since the bullet is
stuck in his head, he cannot feel any pain at all nor can he taste, feel or smell;

Essay On Option Pricing
Option Pricing
Paper trading really helps you grasp the fundamentals, However, when buying and selling options in
the open marketplace with real money, things change quite a bit. During your simulations I bet you
wondered about option pricing. If you wanted to geek out, you could use a complicated formula like
the infamous Black and Scholes equations. Instead of eating aspirin by the hand full, let s just focus on
the basics. An option is a derivative, which means that it is based on the value of another asset. Thus,
the stock price or underlying asset is an important feature in determining the pricing. When you want
to buy a stock, you want to buy it for a cheap as possible, this works the same way for options. Here
are the factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You make money with an option if there is a favorable change in price of the underlying asset, but this
must happen before expiration. Therefore, the longer the lifetime of the option, the better chance there
is for that opportunity. Generally, the more time remaining on an option makes it worth more
However, there is also more time for the stock to move in an unfavorable direction as well.
TYPE OF OPTION:
The type of option (put or call) is also highly relevant to pricing. Calls are expected to increase in
value as the price of the underlying asset increases. While puts are expected to increase in value as the
underlying asset s price decreases. The other factors discussed can also affect the option. Options for
stocks that pay a dividend are often worth less because the dividend is priced into the option.
VOLATILITY: Some would argue that volatility is the greatest factor in determining the price of an
option in the marketplace. Realistically, all of the other factors, strike price, type, interest rates,
dividend, are known, where volatility isn t. Since options are derivatives, stocks and options are
interconnected. For either investment, volatility is one of the most important elements to consider. As
an option buyer, you can use historical movements in price to make some projections. However,
option prices are based on IV implied volatility. Implied volatility, most often

In Nathaniel Hawthorn s Young Goodman Brown and Washington Irving s Rip Van Winkle share a
common ground of witchcraft and a man vs man inner conflict of the unknown. We witness our two
protagonist Goodman Brown and Rip endure life or death situations and what they conquer
throughout their self entitlement. Firstly, we see the journey of young, newly wedded Goodman
Brown, and his wife Faith. A Puritan believed couple, who s in the mindset of being set for life all
because of Faith being an Elite, thus leading to Goodman Brown going into the woods and fighting
evil to be recognized as one of the Elites as well (1). He is convinced to leave Faith alone for the night

with joy after his late night adventure, yet after what he saw, he simply walked away and gave her the

The Is The Unacknowledged Entity That Exists Between The...
Homosociality is the unacknowledged entity that exists between the intestacies of solid masculinity
(Dellamora Masculine Desire, 2). Jean Lipman Blumen defines homosociality as:
Enjoyment and/or preference for the company of the same sex...it does not necessarily involve...an
explicitly erotic sexual interaction between members of the same sex (16). Lipman Blumen s
definition introduces this explicitly erotic sexual interaction to signify homoeroticism. Homoeroticism
is erotic emotions centred on a person of the same sex (Flood, 307). Flood omits any reference to
homosexuality in his term (unlike Lipman Blumen s definition) but implies that homoeroticism may
act as a secret desire centred on a person . This reinforces Thomas Gale s term ... Show more content

George. For instance, when George hook[s] his arm into Robert s arm showing affection to him, this

Braddon establishes a highly erotized setting when Robert and George go fishing. This intimacy is

How To Write A Short Story Of Lincoln s Wife
While residing in New Salem, Lincoln became acquainted with Ann Rutledge. Apparently he was
fond of her, and certainly he grieved with the entire community at her untimely death, in 1835, at the
age of 22. Afterward, stories were told of a grand romance between Lincoln and Rutledge, but these
stories are not supported by sound historical evidence. A year after the death of Rutledge, Lincoln
carried on a halfhearted courtship with Mary Owens, who eventually concluded that Lincoln was
deficient in those little links which make up the chain of woman s happiness. She turned down his
proposal.
So far as can be known, the first and only real love of Lincoln s life was Mary Todd. High spirited,
quick witted, and well educated, Todd came from a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like most married couples, the Lincolns also had their domestic quarrels, which sometimes were
hectic but which undoubtedly were exaggerated by contemporary gossips. She suffered from recurring
headaches, fits of temper, and a sense of insecurity and loneliness that was intensified by her husband
s long absences on the lawyer s circuit. After his election to the presidency, she was afflicted by the
death of her son Willie, by the ironies of a war that made enemies of Kentucky relatives and friends,
and by the unfair public criticisms of her as mistress of the White House. She developed an obsessive
need to spend money, and she ran up embarrassing bills. She also staged some painful scenes of wifely
jealousy. At last, in 1875, she was officially declared insane, though by that time she had undergone
the further shock of seeing her husband murdered at her side. During their earlier married life, she
unquestionably encouraged her husband and served as a prod to his own ambition. During their later
years together, she probably strengthened and tested his innate qualities of tolerance and

How Did Johannes Gutenberg Impact The Printing Press
In 1454, Johannes Gutenberg crafted numerous volumes of the Catholic Bible with his printing press.
These Latin Bibles sold at prices affordable to the middle class, when previously only the wealthiest
churches could afford them. Although it was not the first printing press, Gutenberg s printing press
positively impacted Western Civilization for centuries, because it spread literacy and Christianity, and
allowed books to become commonplace and affordable.
Gutenberg built upon the success of others. China and Japan printed with engraved wooden blocks as
early as the eighth and ninth centuries, with movable type invented in the eleventh century. By the
fourteenth century, Europe used the same techniques. The Encyclopedia Britannica explains his
merging of ideas: Johannes Gutenberg is generally credited with... the invention of modern printing:
the use of dies to make individual pieces of type that could be assembled as required and then reused,
and the use of a press by which sharp impressions could be made many times over, on both sides of a

Maintenance Management Systems for Malaysian Heritage...
Heritage buildings as described by Feilden (2000) are buildings that give us a sense of wonder and
make us want to know more about people and culture that produce it . A more elaborate definition was
made by Kamal and Harun (2002) where they defined them as buildings built in the past which have
high historical and architectural values and require continuous care and protection to preserve their
historical, architectural, aesthetic, archaeological, spiritual, social, political and economic values. In
other words, heritage buildings are expected to have an indefinite life span, signifying that they should
be preserved for as long as possible. This was also pointed out by Feilden (1982) where stated that
heritage buildings differ from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He categorized them into four major architectural styles namely MOORISH (Old general post office
built in 1894), TUDOR (Royal Selangor club built in 1884), NEO CLASSICAL (Municipal council
building in George town built in 1879) and NEO GOTHIC (Carcosa mansion built in 1897). The
survival of heritage buildings in Malaysia has been extremely under threat for quite some time now. A
large number of heritage buildings are decaying due to age, neglect, and high maintenance cost while
many have been destroyed during the building boom of the 1970s. Moreover, large scale urban
development continues to jeopardize their existence. Mustapa et al (2007) noted that destroying
heritage buildings is as good as wiping out historical memories. He affirmed that conserving these
buildings became necessary in order to avert an ugly scenario of losing the nations historical and
architectural memories. As defined by Ahmad (2009), building conservation relates to the processes of
maintenance, repair, and restoration of heritage buildings with the aim of prolonging a building s life
and function . In other words, building conservation is the action taken to prevent decay by adopting
approaches that extend the life of heritage building. For the purpose of this study, there is a need to
clarify some building conservation terminologies to avoid some common misconceptions in the

Review Of Tabula Rasa
Tabula rasa this is how the educationalist John Locke, (1632) believed children were born, with a
blank slate beginning their lives morally neutral. He also wrote that the little and almost insensible
impressions on our tender infancies have very important and lasting consequences. He argued that the
associations of ideas that one makes when young are more important than those made later because
they are the foundation of the self. Locke, (1632) also argued that because a baby s mind was so
malleable a parent could mould them with careful diligence. However Kohlberg (2004) was one of the
first theorists to address gender as a learned, cognitive concept. His thinking was influenced by Piaget,
who portrayed children as active learners who use interactions with their environment to construct an
understanding of the world around them (Piaget, 1961). Kohlberg believed that children s cognitive
understanding of gender influenced their behaviour (Kohlberg, 1981).
Walking into any new born infant s room you could almost certainly guess the gender of the baby just
from the colour of his or her clothes, blankets, and toys. Any infant surrounded by pink items is
virtually certain to be a girl, whereas a child immersed in blue is very likely to be a boy. This colour
differentiation is not limited to newborns. Advertisements in catalogues and newspapers feature little
girls dressed in pink clothes, playing with pink toys, carrying pink lunchboxes, typing on pink
computers, and so

Essay on The Impact of Divorce on Children
Divorce, once unheard of among most people, is now a commonplace occurrence in families when the
adults have decided that they can no longer work out their differences. Unfortunately, divorce tends to
have a negative impact on the children in the family, particularly affecting children who already have
psychological or emotional difficulties, such as ADHD (Patten, 1999). Problems that arise in children
of divorce run the gamut from behavioral problems to later relationship/trust issues. Children of
divorce more often display behavioral problems at school than do children from intact families, except
when abuse is present in the home (Corcoran, 1997). Children of divorce also have more academic
trouble than children from intact homes. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adolescents are best emotionally equipped to handle divorce, but they also often face difficulties,
particularly doubting their eventual ability to get or stay married (Patten, 1997). The problems faced
by children of divorce are also sometimes dependent on the child s gender. While boys often
externalize their feelings, becoming outwardly angry, defiant, and frustrated, girls tend toward
internalizing their feelings, becoming depressed or suffering physiological symptoms, like headache,
stomachache, sleeping, or eating problems (Corcoran, 1997). Boys may have more problems at
school, with fighting and behavioral problems becoming more apparent. Adolescent boys from
divorced families are more likely to spend time with deviant peers and engage in delinquent behavior
(Patten, 1997). Girls from divorced families tend to become sexually active at an earlier age than girls
from intact families (Foulkes Jamison, 2001). It is interesting to note that boys with mothers who
remarry or who live with their father as their primary caregiver are actually less likely to develop these
behavioral problems than boys who live with their mother, however these things do not seem to make
a difference for girls (Temke, 2006). Some of the problems faced by children of divorce may be
attributed to their new socioeconomic status. Generally, in divorce the income level of

  • 2. Firebird Electric, Us Firebird Electric, U.S.1 In 1994, Firebird Electric, U.S. (Firebird), was the first foreign supplier to relocate to the United States to supply the Road Master Car Company. Located in Columbia, South Carolina, Firebird supplies headlights, taillights, lid lamps, center high mounts, and front turn assemblies to Road Master. Road Master sales account for 98.5 percent of Firebird s revenues. Original equipment manufacturing (OEM) lighting is supplied to the Orangeburg plant, the Columbia auto plant, and the Columbia motorcycle plant. In addition, service (aftermarket) products are made for foreign and domestic demands. Weekly shipments go to Road Master Canada Manufacturing and Road Master De Mexico. Service models also are shipped to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firebird Electric has been awarded OEM production for the lighting on the 2005 model two door B car. This report focuses on the procedures and decisions involved in supplying the housing for upcoming production. HOUSING DEFINITION AND SUPPLY Housings are fabricated through die injection molding. A resin is melted, injected, and stamped into the die mold. The housing s function is to attach to the body of the vehicle, protect internal components (cords, bulbs, etc.), and hold components in place so that the light functions as designed. Each make/model has unique housing specifications with regard to size, durability, holes, and necessary attachments to perform these duties. As stated earlier, Firebird has the ability to produce housings in the molding division; however, of the approximately 240 parts presently molded in Manufacturing IV, only 11 are housings. Firebird also outsources production of housings to four central South Carolina molding firms: FPE, The South Carolina Plastics Company (TOPCO), Central South Carolina Plastics (COPCO), and Charleston Custom Plastics (WCP). NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: DEFINING REQUIREMENTS The customer, internal departments, and potential suppliers contribute to designing quality into molded parts. Due to Road Master s strict quality requirements and just in time inventory systems, nonconformance results in high costs, hinders customer relations, and endangers ... • 3. The Beauty Of Art Essay People have appreciated numerous forms of art over many decades and continue to analyze what art is and how the aesthetics of it affect viewers. Audiences have gathered to ooh and ahh at art galleries, musicals, play and ballet performances, and concerts. In fact people even travel long distances to view world renowned tourist sites, such as the Sistine Chapel. There are billions of creations and events that are considered art whether that art is valued by a large audience or the artist alone. Either way, art has become a tremendously significant method of entertainment in the world today, even if one does not recognize the entertainment as art. My own definition of art is: any form of expression that contains effective aesthetics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The beauty of art varies among individuals, but either way, it is a beautiful thing. Art is meant to portray a multitude of emotions through words or images and those emotions strongly affect most people. For example, Joseph M. Martin s song entitled The Awakening features a four part harmony with lyrics that portray a dream (a nightmare rather) where the world lacks music. Lyrics: I dreamed a dream, a silent dream, of a land not far away Where no bird sang, no steeples rang, and teardrops fell like rain. I dreamed a dream; a silent dream. I dreamed a dream of a land so filled with pride That every song, both weak and strong, withered and died. I dreamed a dream No hallelujah; not one hosanna! No song of love, no lullaby. And no choir sang to change the world. No pipers played, no dancers twirled. I dreamed a dream; a silent dream. Awake, awake! Awake, Awake! Awake my soul and sing, the time for praise has come. The silence of the night has passed, A new day has begun! Let music never die in me; Forever let my spirit sing!

  • 5. The Cyclical Argument Of Phaedo The cyclical argument of the Phaedo imparts the ideology Socrates had in regard to the immortality of the soul and his views about death, which he was about to face himself. His most faithful followers are astonished that Socrates is not desolate about his ill fate. In fact, he is delighted with it as he proclaims that the life of a philosopher is merely a preparation for death since the mind is most pure when the stresses of the body is felt least. But even after the body is discarded after death, the soul will live on for eternity. After much skepticism and doubt, he begins a discourse in which he attempts to authenticate the immortality of the soul. In the cyclical argument or the argument of opposites, he ends up persuading his followers that the soul is indeed immortal. The argument begins with the discussion of the opposites, Between each of these pairs of opposites there are two processes: from the one to the other and then ... He says that the living come from the dead in this way no less than the dead from the living, and, if that is so, it seems to be a sufficient proof that the souls of the dead must be somewhere whence they can come back again (72a). Death is the release of the soul. Socrates conveys that the body is a prison, and that the soul is imprisoned. The body acts as the source of needs and desires, and the attempt to satisfy these needs produces disruptive conflicts that interfere with reasoning and prevent us from attaining knowledge. The soul has the potential to have a total and real perception of the actual truth itself when not impeded by the body. Socrates possessed a rationale to embrace death, in that he deduced that freedom from the corrupting influences of the body would enable him to attain true knowledge. He holds the conviction that when bodily hindrances are disregarded, we can concentrate completely upon the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Software Development And Its Development As we saw throughout the last forty or so years is that computer systems frequently evolve and that developmental change is inevitable and software development is no stranger to this, which is where agile development or the term that some use agile software development comes into play. This is a concept that searches for alternatives to the traditional way of managing a project and based on the foundation that change is essential to software development. Throughout this paper, we will look at the reasons that brought about the change in thinking with regard to software development, discuss some of the key principles of agile development, methods under agile development and the benefits of the use of agile development. Let s begin this document with a discussion into what brought about the change in thinking. The biggest reason for the change in methodology in software development is due to the failures realized through the use of traditional sequential development. With these failures an assembly of individuals developed a declaration of policy that included the following ideologies: Individuals and interactions over processes and tools, working software over comprehensive documentation, customer collaboration over contract negotiation and finally responding to change. ( Manifesto for agile software development, n.d.). Let s continue on with this document and examine at some of the principles with regard to the concept of agile development. His father s name was Benjamin Babbage. He was one of four children. His father was a banking partner of founding Praed s Co. in London. Benjamin was a rich man, so he and his wife had big plans for Charles to attend many good schools; but when he was around the age of eight, he had to move to a country school in order to recover from a life threatening fever. He had an unstable and delicate health status for most of his early life, which kept him from going to the schools his parents wanted him to go to. He relied on private lessons and teachings for most of his childhood. He attended two different colleges as well. First, he went to Trinity College in Cambridge but wasn t pleased with the math program there. So, he then attended Peterhouse, in Cambridge. He was the best mathematician at Peterhouse. He graduated from Peterhouse but didn t receive an honorary degree. He wasn t successful when he first graduated. • 9. Physics Of Running Essay Running is quite a brutal sport when it involves distance and proficiency. Force and distance influences how runners run their race in track. They use speed, strength, flexibility and stability. However, when a runner is running hard, the work creates more and more heat. The best way to release the heat is through sweating. With the elements of energy and temperature, the force created doesn t die and is regenerated through the race. By adding coolness in temperature and energy, muscles don t get locked. The last thing anyone wants is an overworked muscle. With an overworked muscle, you don t beat your time. A muscle can work up to around 25 hertz of energy just from generated heat. The heat is based on the size of who is competing and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The physics is located in his work, mass, distance, and speed. His whole body is dependent on the way he resists the air drag and releases the heat. When he comes out of the blocks, he creates a force of 817 newton at a horizontal degree. The speed he keeps throughout the race is about 30 miles per hour. Unlike the runners, he is able to let go of the heat with his resilient suit. Right out of the block, his work is above two thousand and six hundred watts. The force that he creates right out of the starting block is 2600 watts. This then impacts how much energy he uses in his 100 meter sprint. With this much force in speed, he creates 2 watts per hour and 11.6 HP of power, and earns the gold medal. Most runners in a sport run with a back like a pencil, while Bolt s height advances his air drag. His stamina, physique and many other factors help his torso push against the air drag. The force and work causes Usan bolt to win his races. When someone increases the speed, it is the shedding of heat that impacts the race. The shedding of heat is the renewed energy that keeps a leveled speed in the specified distance. Depending on the heat, one can always go the distance with their best shape and speed. • 10. How the Civil Rights Movement Influenced the Women s... The civil rights movement influenced the women s liberation movement in four key ways. First, it provided women with a model for success on how a successful movement should organize itself. Second, the civil rights movement broadened the concept of leadership to include women. Third, by fighting for equality, the civil rights movement changed the culture of advocacy and made social justice a legitimate cause. Finally, by eventually excluding women, the civil rights movement spurred women to organize their own movement. Without the civil rights movement, the women s movement likely would never taken off on its own. The civil rights movement (and the activists involved) gave women a model for success. Black women eventually earned college and graduate degrees and sought full time employment in higher rates than either black men or white women, while maintaining a community service ethic. The civil rights movement broadened the definition of leadership to include women, and left an impression of women as powerful and determined activists. Jo An Robinson and Ella Baker are just two of the many women who were able to take charge and make an impact on the movement. Robinson led the Women s Political Council, which plotted strategy for a one day bus boycott in Montgomery following Rosa Parks arrest. The Council was able to recruit clergy to lend their churches for mass meetings and was able to tap into a new minister in town, Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. to lead the Montgomery Improvement Association, which would coordinate the larger Montgomery Bus Boycotts . It was the women that organized this key moment in the civil rights movement which was, in fact, spurred by a woman, Rosa Parks, refusing to take her seat in the back of the bus. Ella Baker was similarly key in the Civil Rights movement. She was instrumental in organizing a conference of student sit in activists in 1960, forming the beginning of what would become the SNCC. By educating and fostering leadership, Baker helped members to see themselves as potential leaders regardless of race or gender. That does not mean that leadership in the ... However, the constant conflict between action vs inaction insinuates a deeper concern. For starters, Prince Hamlet frequently creates excuses to delay his father s revenge. Growing up, he was a poor boy with several siblings, and his father, Johann Ambrosius Bach, was a musician who had been playing instruments all of his life. Young Bach soon followed in his father s footsteps but instead of the violin, he played the organ everyday for hours on end. Bach was no stranger to the steps he would have to take to be a musician, because of his father s career path, he knew how hard it would be to become a well known musician. Not only did his immediate family play an instrument, but all of the generations of his family played a musical instrument. Musical talent in this family has been traced back to Bach s great grandfather. Johann Ambrosius Bach, Bach s father, taught him and his siblings to learn and love two traditional instruments for the Baroque period: the violin and the harpsichord. Bach had a natural talent for instruments, which had probably been passed on to him through his father s genes. • 13. Textual Analysis Weekend From the beginning to the end of the music video Hmm for the Weekend by Coldplay featuring Beyoncé (2015), the audience is shown a multiple array of colours and authentic sounds, from traditional bells, to Chris Martin s angelic voice. However, the video also portrays prolific visuals of the Indian culture. On one hand, viewers suggest it over generalizes the representation of an Indian culture as it screens the false realties of race and ethics. On the other hand, there are those who suggest it shows the appreciation of the culture. Through Jason Rodriquez s article Color Blind Ideology Culture Appropriation of Hip Hop (2006), this paper will explain how the music video Hmm for the Weekend by Coldplay featuring Beyoncé uses culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Rodriquez, color blind ideology is what leads to the assertion of essential sameness between racial and ethnic groups despite unequal social locations and distinctive histories (165). In this case, the targeted group is Coldplay since they are blinded by their political and social statuses as artists while they use Indian culture to their advantage to maintain popularity in the music industry. Rodriquez suggests that color blind ideology is noticed when the dominant group is aware of the social, political, and economic status of both groups and uses the attributes from the minority group to an extensive level (657). The political and artistic goal of the video frames the use of the Indian festival Holi. In addition, it captures the religious tradition and uses it as a prop. The video essentially plays off a false ideology towards the ethnic view of India as it inoculates the dominant picture of a real Indian culture. The idea of sameness creates the illusion of how one can act and look as a real Indian if dressed in a certain way, or if one celebrates the same tradition. Analysing the context of the video through color blind ideology, it is important to view the social, economic and political status between two different groups in order to realize how one group uses the other. The myth of sameness is effective since it perpetuates the inequalities when one compares the difference between two groups. Color blind ideology is a form of racism since it creates a dominant culture to admit to taking familiarities from another culture without the dominant culture truly realizing the effect. For instance, Coldplay uses their advantage as a popular culture music group to represent a variety of themes to their fans and supporters; however, the group fails to realize their racial privilege and social status in ... Compared to adults, children undergoing surgery are more likely to experience stress, anxiety, and feelings of ambiguity due to their cognitive development and limited capacity to understand reasoning behind his or her surgery. Today, the implementation of child focused preoperative preparation is lacking. With the increasing amount of same day surgical procedures, children only have hours to build rapport with their healthcare team and receive preparation. Play is an important component in interventions used with children who experience stress in the hospital. Most studies focused on therapeutic play have been conducted on preschool age children, which is why the authors of the current study chose to focus on the effects of therapeutic play with school age children. The authors aimed to examine if school age children who received therapeutic play would (a.) report lesser anxiety directly before/after surgery; (b.) demonstrate lesser negative emotions during anesthesia; and (c.) report less pain following their operation, when compared to school age children who received standard care. A more elaborate definition was made by Kamal and Harun (2002) where they defined them as buildings built in the past which have high historical and architectural values and require continuous care and protection to preserve their historical, architectural, aesthetic, archaeological, spiritual, social, political and economic values. In other words, heritage buildings are expected to have an indefinite life span, signifying that they should be preserved for as long as possible. This was also pointed out by Feilden (1982) where stated that heritage buildings differ from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He categorized them into four major architectural styles namely MOORISH (Old general post office built in 1894), TUDOR (Royal Selangor club built in 1884), NEO CLASSICAL (Municipal council building in George town built in 1879) and NEO GOTHIC (Carcosa mansion built in 1897). The survival of heritage buildings in Malaysia has been extremely under threat for quite some time now. A large number of heritage buildings are decaying due to age, neglect, and high maintenance cost while many have been destroyed during the building boom of the 1970s. Moreover, large scale urban development continues to jeopardize their existence. Mustapa et al (2007) noted that destroying heritage buildings is as good as wiping out historical memories. He affirmed that conserving these buildings became necessary in order to avert an ugly scenario of losing the nations historical and architectural memories. As defined by Ahmad (2009), building conservation relates to the processes of maintenance, repair, and restoration of heritage buildings with the aim of prolonging a building s life and function . In other words, building conservation is the action taken to prevent decay by adopting approaches that extend the life of heritage building. For the purpose of this study, there is a need to clarify some building conservation terminologies to avoid some common misconceptions in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Review Of Tabula Rasa Tabula rasa this is how the educationalist John Locke, (1632) believed children were born, with a blank slate beginning their lives morally neutral. He also wrote that the little and almost insensible impressions on our tender infancies have very important and lasting consequences. He argued that the associations of ideas that one makes when young are more important than those made later because they are the foundation of the self. Locke, (1632) also argued that because a baby s mind was so malleable a parent could mould them with careful diligence. However Kohlberg (2004) was one of the first theorists to address gender as a learned, cognitive concept. His thinking was influenced by Piaget, who portrayed children as active learners who use interactions with their environment to construct an understanding of the world around them (Piaget, 1961). Kohlberg believed that children s cognitive understanding of gender influenced their behaviour (Kohlberg, 1981). Walking into any new born infant s room you could almost certainly guess the gender of the baby just from the colour of his or her clothes, blankets, and toys. Any infant surrounded by pink items is virtually certain to be a girl, whereas a child immersed in blue is very likely to be a boy. This colour differentiation is not limited to newborns. Advertisements in catalogues and newspapers feature little girls dressed in pink clothes, playing with pink toys, carrying pink lunchboxes, typing on pink computers, and so ... • 34. Essay on The Impact of Divorce on Children Divorce, once unheard of among most people, is now a commonplace occurrence in families when the adults have decided that they can no longer work out their differences. Unfortunately, divorce tends to have a negative impact on the children in the family, particularly affecting children who already have psychological or emotional difficulties, such as ADHD (Patten, 1999). Problems that arise in children of divorce run the gamut from behavioral problems to later relationship/trust issues. Children of divorce more often display behavioral problems at school than do children from intact families, except when abuse is present in the home (Corcoran, 1997). Children of divorce also have more academic trouble than children from intact homes. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adolescents are best emotionally equipped to handle divorce, but they also often face difficulties, particularly doubting their eventual ability to get or stay married (Patten, 1997). The problems faced by children of divorce are also sometimes dependent on the child s gender. While boys often externalize their feelings, becoming outwardly angry, defiant, and frustrated, girls tend toward internalizing their feelings, becoming depressed or suffering physiological symptoms, like headache, stomachache, sleeping, or eating problems (Corcoran, 1997). Boys may have more problems at school, with fighting and behavioral problems becoming more apparent. Adolescent boys from divorced families are more likely to spend time with deviant peers and engage in delinquent behavior (Patten, 1997). Girls from divorced families tend to become sexually active at an earlier age than girls from intact families (Foulkes Jamison, 2001). It is interesting to note that boys with mothers who remarry or who live with their father as their primary caregiver are actually less likely to develop these behavioral problems than boys who live with their mother, however these things do not seem to make a difference for girls (Temke, 2006). Some of the problems faced by children of divorce may be attributed to their new socioeconomic status. Generally, in divorce the income level of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
