The United States Department Of Education
The U.S. Department of Education provides supplemental funding to local school districts to meet
the needs of at risk and low income students. This funding is known as Title 1 funding and the
schools that receive a portion of this funding are referred to as Title 1 schools. Teachers in Title 1
schools encounter students facing life struggles that many of us cannot imagine. Encouraging these
students to focus in schoolcan be difficult, but it is essential to overcome the challenge in order for
students to achieve academically. Finding ways to engage Title 1 students can be a daunting task
due to the fact that they face daily struggles just to survive. However, teachers must use student
motivation techniques to engage these students. These techniques will assist in the students success
in the classroom. In education, student engagement refers to the degree of attention, curiosity,
interest, optimism, and passion that students show when they are learning or being taught, which
extends to the level of motivation they have to learn and progress in their education (Hidden
Curriculum, 2014).
Every teacher encounters the challenge of getting students engaged in work in the classroom.
While some students enthusiastically walk into a classroom each day, others need motivation and
inspiration to focus in school. This issue is significant for school leaders because the role of the
school is to provide a place for students to engage and interact with knowledge. If students are not

Keirsey Personality Types
Please Understand Me II by David Keirsey offers an in depth look into the Keirsey personality
types. For the INTJ, this book serves as a helpful and insightful guide to better understand oneself
and others; the INTJ can also utilize this text to better emphasize and interact with various types of
people. The INTJ s general temperament is a Rational or a NT. Rationals are logical,
contemplative, and inquiring people (Keirsey, 1998, p. 164). They want to understand everything,
and this mindset often makes them appear uninterested and detached from others. Despite this
external appearance, Rationals do care, but they must intentionally focus in order to show their
care to others. Overall, NTs are the world s problem solvers who will happily spend... Show more

For NTs, unity in systems is a two sided matter (Keirsey, 1998, p. 170). Rationals arrange their

Procurement Strategy 540
Introduction 140 Procurement strategy 540 traditional procurement Competitive tender process
The traditional procurement route has become one of the standard approaches in the construction
industry since the 19th century. The key characteristics of a traditional procurement route with a
competitive tender process are competition or tendering cannot start until the design process is
complete, the designing process is separate from the construction process and the lack of contractor
involvement in the design process, with the design and technical development being carried out by
the clients consultant. (Cartlidge, 2013). There are three stages to a traditional approach, those
stages being the Preparation stage (Appraisal and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drawings that the bill of quantities was made from will also need to be in the package. The
form of tender and the tender instructions (Time and place will also need to be sent. Once the
tender is completed, one contractor must be chosen. Usually it is the one with the lowest price
is chosen, as it will give the client the best value of money. However recently there have been
many times were the lowest one is not chosen as it is too low and it may not give the client the
moneys worth in the long term. One tender is chosen and one is chosen as a reserve, both of
them are informed of their job. The chosen contractor is then to submit a fully priced bill of
quantities for checking as soon as possible. With using this procurement route there are many
advantages, such as the client retaining responsibility for the design team, the design team will
report straight to the client to make sure quality controls are maintained. There is the assurance
of price, as the client will understand the cost of the project, if all the work is fully designed in
advance. This also allows a basis for variations to be priced at the rates given, it is also easier to
analyse the prices. With this method the works can be done at the lowest price, getting the best
value of money. (Consultations.rics.org, 2016) However with those advantages come
disadvantage, such as for this to be effective, the has to be ready so fully designed before the
tenders are requested, this could

What were the main arguments of Paul s opponents in...
What were the main arguments of Paul s opponents in Galatia? What arguments did Paul use to
respond to them? Undoubtedly, the author of Galatians was Paul and it may have been the earliest
of his letters. It s brief, emotional and controversial, and its importance far exceeds its size. Martin
Luther, claimed Galatians as my epistle. I am married to it and this letter became the cornerstone
of the Protestant Reformation. Paul s letter is addressed to the churches in Galatia (Galatians 1.2)
but the location of these churches is a matter of debate. A minority of scholars have argued that
Galatia is an ethnic reference to a Celtic people living in northern Asia Minor, but there is no
evidence that Paul ever visited that region.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul is disappointed and exasperated, that the Galatians had been so readily persuaded by these
teachers and he was determined to get them back on track. The true apostleGalatians 1.1 2.21
Significantly there is no thanksgiving in this letter. Paul is so agitated that he dispenses with
thanksgiving and launches straight into his argument. I am astonished that you are so quickly
deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel
(Galatians 1.6) Unflinchingly, he sets out his credentials and then insists that he is a true
apostle, chosen and appointed by God, and argues strongly that he needed no authorization from
Jerusalem. He knew that the gospel he received after his experience on the road to Damascus
was the message he was to preach and that is why he could claim to be an apostle, just like the
original disciples. He dismisses their accusation adding that the mission given by God was also
approved by Peter, James and John.(Galatians 2.9) As a Jew, a Roman citizen, a Pharisee who had
become a Christian, he could see both sides of the story, and was uniquely equipped to fulfil the
role of spreading the Christian message to the Gentile world. The

Ben Hauck is an actor and comedian however, he has published many articles on General
Semantics while sitting on the Board of Trustees of the General Semantics Institute and The New
York Society for General Semantics. Hauck uses this article to redefine semantics, and then apply
that new definition to general semantics. He argues that the standard definition, the study of
meaning , is incorrect and should be referred to as the study of implication . He discusses the many
different types of semantics and how we would label them, and then draws connections on how we

uses examples that will resonate with a wide audience. She includes examples ranging from

She even includes a celebrity s use of semantics on stage. By doing this she is able to draw in a
diverse group of reader who will all be able to comprehend her message. Although she uses
everyday people for reference her message is still factual and educational. She refers to multiple
sources in her article including William Lutz and Edward Hall. She does also refer to other but
not in a literary context. Dierking s writing is targeted more towards the general public, who are
dipping their metaphorical toes into the cold semantic waters. She uses household names that
every person would know, making sure that she is easy to understand. I found the amount and type
of examples that she provided somewhat refreshing, compared to the word heavy references of

Tow Way Immersion Education Programs in the United States
Introduction
Since the 1960s, two way immersion (TWI) education programs have existed in the United States
and have recently seen a surge in growth in the last two decades. Consistent research results have
caused many educators, administrators and parents to recognize the benefits associated for all
students involved in these programs, which has encouraged the expansion and implementation of
these types of programs across the US. In addition to the need to educate the vast growing minority
language demographic in the US, bilingual education leads to academic achievement for all
involved (Lindhold Leary 2004). If the research clearly shows that TWI programs not only help
the language minority groups but also the language majority groups to achieve at or above
average grade level academic success in two languages, then why aren t all parents urging their
school administrators to implement programs in their kids schools? Although the number of TWI
schools has grown significantly since the first one opened in Coral Gables, FL in 1963, the lack
of common knowledge of the existence and success of these programs is one of the main factors
to blame for the slow evolution of our schools into TWI based schools.
Components of TWI Programs
TWI programs differ from traditional schooling in the fact that they combine students from the
language minority and language majority (English in the US) in the same learning environment for
all or most of the school day and strive to promote

Decriminalization Of Prostitution Essay
There are about 13,828,700 prostitutes in the world; 3 million in China, 2 million in India and 1
million in the United States. Each year in New York City there is 4,200 prostitution arrest, and 5
officers will need to conduct a prostitution sting (a sting operation is an undercover operation
designed to catch a person committing a crime or in this case a prostitute). Yet, what even is
prostitution? Do we as a people gather the full concept and the reasoning behind why these men and
women subject themselves to intercourse for money? The definition of prostitution is an
occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment. Though prostitution is defined
as an occupation it is still criminalized by today s society and government.... Show more content on

While I agree that child prostitution is a significant global problem, both in developed and
undeveloped countries, I must argue the involvement of sex workers. A primary reason why we
have a child prostitution increase is due to the criminalization of adult prostitution. When a
sexually ambitious person cannot find an adult sex worker, they would turn to pimps, who
mostly use underage sex workers, to satisfy their sexual urges. By keeping sex work illegal,
victims of sex trafficking are less likely to go to the police out of fear of being arrested, also, sex
trafficking victims are often treated like criminals. Sadly, 100,000 children are forced into
prostitution every year in America. But at the same time, there is evidence to support that
legalizing prostitution reduces sex trafficking. In 2001, Germany legalized sex work. Over the
course of the next 10 years, instances of sex based human trafficking decreased by 10 percent within
the country. Working with instead of against sex workers will lead to more slaves being rescued. In
Germany, it already is. While prohibitionists claim that legalizing prostitution has increased human
trafficking in the country, the data doesn t support them. Proclaimed by Cathy Reisenwitz of the

Leadership In The Film Coach Carter As A Basketball Coach
Management is a tremendously significant factor in leadership, as no good leader can be an
ineffective manager. Every successful manager has and demands respect, is passionate and caring,
builds a team, obtains expectations, and helps people grow. In the influential film Coach Carter, we
are introduced to a character by the name of Ken Carter, who is offered a position as a basketball
coach at Richmond High School, upon he decides to accept the offer to take on the mission of
guiding, training, and teaching students on the team how to not only be great basketball players,
but how to be great students as well. Throughout the film Ken Carter demonstrates a unique and
distinctive coaching style that ultimately leads his students to success.
Every coach has their own style of teaching and training their players, however after watching the
film Coach Carter it is palpable that Ken Carter has a very unique and particular style of coaching.
After taking on the role as a basketball coach at Richmond High School, Carter recognises that his
students have no intent on succeeding in their academic studies and simply have the mindset to be
successful in their beloved sport of basketball. Carter obtained a strong disagreeing of these views,
as well as the belief the staff in the school acquired that the statistics are too difficult to beat, so the
additional effort put in will not differentiate anything so Carter made a contract for his students
which stated what rules they must follow,

Analysis Of Gaius Valerius Catullus s The Iliad
The one main difference between the gods and mortals is that mortals can die, making it difficult
for a man to become truly god like. Homer makes no mention of the afterlife in The Iliad,
meaning that the only true way for a mortal to live on is through the remembrance of their life on
earth. Many strive for immortality, but to achieve it, one must obtain Kleos, the glory a man
receives in war. If a hero like Achillesor Hectorwere mentioned to someone today, chances are, the
person would know who the hero was. This is how immortality through Kleos works. When the
poet Gaius Valerius Catullus describes how he wishes for his poems to last for many generations,
even when he has long since passed, he is explaining that, through his poetry,... Show more content

Because of the promise of Kleos, a warrior is willing to risk everything he has, including his life,
to fight in battle. When Hector makes a visit to Troy, he visits his wife and son. His wife tries to
convince him to stay behind and not return, because if he does, he will die in battle. Hector
knows this, but says he is willing to risk his life to obtain the glory he and the rest of Troy deserve
(Fagles, 6. 510 555.) There are 255 named deaths in The Iliad (Laura Jenkinson.) This statistic
shows the extremity of the fighting. Achilles, Diomedes, Hector, and Patroclus are the top
killers in the epic. These are, furthermore, four of the more commonly recognized names when
someone mentions The Iliad today. This correlates with the idea that those who kill more people
are more likely to achieve Kleos and be remembered. As a quantitative way of tracking how
many people a warrior killed on the battle field, he can take the armor from the man he killed and
use it as a trophy. After Patroclus death, an argument arises about who gets his armor, which is
actually Achilles armor. Euphorbus claimed he was the one who actually killed Patroclus so he
deserves the prize, but Menelaus would not have it. Menelaus killed Euphorbus, which resulted in
all the Trojans being scared of facing Menelaus to fight for the armor, with the exception of Hector.
Hector succeeded in getting Patroclus armor, by showing fearlessness and willingness to fight for it
(Fagles, 17.1 140).

IIi.features Of A Smart Grid
III .FEATURES OF A SMART GRID
Reliability
The smart grid uses technology to self locate faults so their rectification is fast and sound. This self
healing property of smart grid makes it more reliable than the conventional grid. Main technology
used here is state estimation. Multiple routes are used in a smart grid which were used in the old
grid as well. But mostly they were radial in nature so that any failure can cause total failure of the
system and the current would be shunted to other elements.
Flexibility in network topology
Next generation grid technology would be far more flexible in transferring two way energy by
allowing for distributed generation from solar cells, fuel cells , electric vehicles, wind turbines .
Classic one way distribution is not that flexible to cater to problems when load is higher than the
generating end . By using smarter grid this is possible.
Efficiency
Numerous contributions to overall improvement of the efficiency of energy infrastructure are
anticipated from the deployment of smart grid technology, in particular including demand side
management, for example turning off air conditioners during short term spikes in electricity price,
reducing the voltage when possible on distribution lines through Voltage/VAR Optimization (VVO),
eliminating truck rolls for meter reading, and reducing truck rolls by improved outage management
using data from Advanced Metering Infrastructure systems. The overall effect is less redundancy in
transmission

Essay on The Running Back Position in Football
Running Backs
To be the best you got to beat the best; therefore I am the best cause I ve beaten the rest (Barry
Sanders). The game of football only requires 22 men, but only one man can be the running back.
The running back position is considered the most prestigious of the game. To be a great running
back in the N.F.L. you must possess certain qualities such as: speed, strength, agility, field vision,
quick feet, and good stamina. Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and Marcus Allen all possess these
qualities and are three of the best running backs the National Football League will ever see.

people to grace the field with his presents and the game will always be grateful.
The name Walter Payton is one that needs no introduction. He was the NFL Player of the Year
and Most Valuable Player in both 1977 and 1985. His list of accomplishments include catching
492 pass receptions for 4,538 yards, 15 touchdowns, and passing 34 times for 331 yards and 8
touchdowns. As you can see, Walter Payton is one of the greatest players ever. Walter Payton is a
class act, and will always be remembered as a pioneer on the gridiron.
Marcus Allen is a man who commands attention every time he steps on the field. Marcus is the
only running back that is just as dangerous catching the ball out the backfield as he is running the
ball. Holding records that range from most catches in a season to most yards in a season; Marcus
Allen is the most divers running back the N.F.L. has ever saw. Marcus also has donated a lot of
money to different foundations.
To be considered one of the greatest running backs of all time you must posses the qualities not
just of a good runner, but also as a good person. All three of these men posses those qualities and

Analysis Of C. S. Lewis Mere Christianity
C.S. Lewis s Mere Christianity, an influential composition of Biblical opinion, promotes the
Gospel first through live broadcasts during World War II and now as a major premise in
theological discussions. It was Friday, September 1st, 1939 when the course of the war changed
drastically for Great Britain. James Welch, the Director of Religious Broadcasting at the British
Broadcasting Company was interrupted during The Daily Service with a note that pensively stated,
Germany invaded Poland early this morning (Phillips 1). As the months dragged eternally on, the
radio waves carried with them increasingly tragic news, degrading what was left of Britain s
morale. Welch stated, In a time of uncertainty and questioning it is the responsibility... Show more

Hence if I gave a series of talks, I shd mention Christianity only at the end, and would prefer not to
unmask my battery until then (C.S. Lewis, the BBC, and Mere Christianity). He wanted to ease
into the truth about religion and salvation by first evaluating human morality through a broadcast
discussion entitled, Right and Wrong: A Clue to the Meaning of the Universe (C.S. Lewis, the
BBC, and Mere Christianity). The idea that, just as all bodies are governed by the law of
gravitation and organisms by biological laws, so the creature called man also had his law,
described Lewis in the transposed talk of Mere Christianity. He went on to say, that a body
could not choose whether it obeyed the law of gravitation or not, but a man could choose either
to obey the law of Human Nature or to disobey it (Lewis 18). C.S. Lewis describes through these
early statements that morality is universal, for if it wasn t, the very war they were fighting
would not have a reason for its existence; Adolf Hitler would have been acting on his own view
of morality which simply differed from Great Britain s and the Ally forces . It is commonly
understood, however, that mankind has some sort of inherent idea of right and wrong that the Nazi
party was violating by drastic measures. In addition to these powerfully spoken opinions by this
Oxford don, Lewis did not want to enforce the viewpoint of a single Christian denomination, but
leave the decision of minor Christian beliefs to the individual. He states in Mere Christianity:
The reader should be warned that I offer no help to anyone who is hesitating between two Christian
denominations. You will not learn from me whether you ought to become an Anglican, a Methodist,
a Presbyterian, or a Roman Catholic. This omission is intentional...I am a very ordinary layman of

Roberto Clemente Research Paper
The sound of the swish of a basketball, the crack of bat, and the kick of goal, are of many sports
played in America, today. Athletes across America have made an impact in sports, but Hispanic
athletes have made achievements beyond the imagination of an American athlete. Athletes like
Roberto Clemente, Hall of Fame baseball player from Puerto Rico, Miguel Cotto, champion
boxer, and Juan Pablo Montoya, NASCAR driver are athletes that have gone above and beyond
their dreams and turned it into a reality. The Hispanic athletes of yesterday, and the ones of today
have made achievements and have won awards that have made an impact on people s lives
today. Roberto Walker Clemente, a man from a small island with the heart of a champion, became
a phenomenal baseball player during his time. Roberto Clemente was born in Carolina, Puerto
Rico on August 18, 1934. Clemente started his baseball career at the age of seventeen. He played

The Beatles Hey Jude Poetic Techniques
The Beatles, Hey Jude manipulates the verse bridge structure until the coda, where the chorus
finally appears. This is different to all the other songs I have analysed, since September, Cry Me
A River and Heart Of Gold have a verse chorus form. Also, one difference between this song and
the other songs is that it is in a Major key (F Major), and the rest of the songs are in a Minor Key.
The Major key helps to create to the clear, and confident style to the song, which is represented in
this song. This song is the only song to include an extremely complex structure, containing
interludes between each verse and bridge. This something none of the other songs include.
Led Zeppelin s, Stairway To Heaven, contains a call and response between the 12 string and the
telecaster Electric Guitar in the solo of this song, this is widely used in rock music, and works so
successfully in this song as it helps to create suspense and movement within the music. In my
opinion it appears to represent two people calling out to each other expressing their feelings.
Another song has uses call and response ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of the rhyming within the song, that first captured my ears, is using the title
September and rhyming it with remember and pretender . This helps to create a balanced
structure to the lyrics, which will make it easier for the listener to remember. Metaphors and
rhyming are also used within the song, like for example our hearts were ringing your heart can t
actually ring, but it s a way of describing the way the two people felt about each other in that
moment of time. The following line In the key that our souls are singing , Here, he rhymes ringing
with singing at the end of the line. This adds to the light hearted catchiness of the song and makes
it all the more memorable to the

Was World War 1 Inevitable
With over thirty eight million casualties and over seventeen million recorded deaths, the First
World War was one of the deadliest conflicts that the worldwide population has ever seen. World
War I has been particularly exclusive in history in comparison to previous battles, by reason of the
first major involvement of the world s major powers in warfare in addition to the war s foundation
of causes that eventually led to the unavoidable commencement of bloodshed. The First World War
was inevitable for many reasons that traced back to the beginning of the twentieth century, such as
the formulation of European alliances, the inauguration of the armaments race and martial strength
in European nations, and the rise of the encouragement of nationalism... Show more content on

These nationalistic feelings allowed European citizens to grow extreme morale in their nation, in
addition their country s individual strength in military and government. With the birth of these
sentiments, however; neighbouring countries that made up the continent were denounced and
portrayed to the public as untrustworthy, uncivilized, and threatening in regards to their country.
Due to this, many rivalries and tensions between borders occurred, with the inclusion of the public
in addition to their powerful leaders. Nationalistic pride was launched in European countries for
multiple different reasons, depending on the state of the country at the time. For example, Great
Britain s views regarding nationalism was apparent in relation to the country s past of maintaining
strength and prosperity through peaceful relations, while nationalism was clear in Germany as a
symbol of future imperialism and overwhelming continental strength. Either way, strong feelings of
nationalism allowed Europe s borders to become even more divided than usual, as a result of
providing an outlet for national superiority and the encouraging antagonization of surroundings
nations. In short, nationalism allowed the First World War to become even more unavoidable,
since tensions rose to the brink of both fear and confidence of the major powers: a perfect setup

I am still attempting to completely grasp Flaubert s reasoning for making Emma Bovary so
unrelatable and unlikeable. With the unfortunate last portion of her life it might have been
reasonable to guess it would be enjoyable for the reader to observe such a horrendous demsie for
the unlikable protagonist. However I doubt this because she leaves behind Charles. He is a
character the reader feels, at the very least, sympathy for and at the very most can relate to from
their own relationships. Because Emma leaves him behind observing her demise is bittersweet for
the reader as they can imagine Charles s sadness. Watching such a terrible person get her just

I feel like Cat On a Hot Tin Roof has gotten off to a slow start, however it is a classic and I have
high hopes for the rest of the story. I feel as if the setup of the family gathering is not terribly
interesting, right now, but may make for interesting revelations and conflict in the future. The
death of Skipper has not really drawn me in, since I know very little about this character and his
largest impact seems to be on Brick, a character I do not care for. He sort of just mopes around,
understandable after the loss of a friend, but this does not seem to be new behavior. His actions
also make him unlikable in contrast to Maggie, who very clearly is the one putting effort into the
relationship. One insight I gained from our class discussion was that Brick may have been gay
and in a relationship with Skipper. This would make Brick s actions more understandable and ,in
my eyes, would make him less of an unlikable mope and more of a tortured soul. I think the nature
of their friendship/relationship will come into the spotlight later in the play as I was interested just
hearing of the potential theory and it could serve to clear a lot of

The Importance Of International Terrorism
The growing scope and complexity of international terrorism, particularly the threat to diplomats
and diplomatic facilities, has caused widespread concern among members of the international
community and prompted a lively debate on the measures appropriate for their protection.
Consideration of this matter, however, has been greatly complicated not only by differing
interpretations of the nature of terrorism but by the involvement of states themselves in terrorist
activities.
Once again, this problem is not new but since the 1960s, when terrorism emerged as a coherent
doctrine of revolutionary warfare and a myriad groups sprang up around the world to capitalise on
the increased vulnerability of modern society, the involvement of government s in terrorism has
been given considerable attention. The debate over this matter has been heightened by the open
admission of some states that they were prepared to sponsor terrorist groups as a means of
extending their foreign policy options and by the Reagan Administration s insistence that terrorism
has become a global issue with the potential to destroy diplomacy, undermine world stability and
threaten civilisation itself .1
Despite the fact that the diplomatic laws have been in practice since the beginning of early
civilizations, states have often acted in a manner contrary to VCDR principles and laws. There
have been earlier incidents of the violation of inviolability of diplomatic privileges by the receiving
state but most of them

communication with the normal people. This system can be dynamically reconfigured to work as a
smart device . In this paper, microcontroller and sensors based gesture vocalizer is presented.
Gesture vocalizer discussed is basically a data glove and a microcontroller based system. Data
glove can detect almost all the movements of a hand and microcontroller based system converts
some specified movements into human recognizable voice. The data glove is equipped with two

There is a technical issue at this stage of the project that is if we convert the analog output of the
accelerometer, which ranges from 1.5 volts to 3.5 volts to a digital 8 bit output the systems
become very sensitive. Reason is division of 2 volts range into 256 (28 = 256) steps is much
more sensitive than converting 5 volts range into 256 steps. Now the question arises, why do we
need a less sensitive system, the answer if a more sensitive system is used then there is a huge
change in the digital output with the very little tilt of the hand, which is difficult to be handled.
[pic]
Fig. 3: Amplification and Attenuation Circuitry
Solution to this problem is to increase the range of the output of the accelerometer by using an
additional circuitry. This additional circuitry increases the range of the accelerometer from 2 volts
range to 5volts range. The circuitry shown in Fig.3 is used for theamplification and attenuation
purposes. Amplification means amplification of upper range i.e. 3.5 volts to the 5 volts, and the
attenuation means the attenuation of lower range i.e. 1.5 volts to 0 volts.
3.2 Tilt Detection
The basic function of this module is to detect the tilting of the hand and sending some binary data
against meaningful gestures, to the bend detection module. The output, which is obtained from the
accelerometers after amplification, is an analog output. To deal with this analog output, and to
make it useful for the further use, it is required to

Surrogate Court Cases
Overall, the surrogate proves to have rights that need to be identified and upheld. Those rights may
conflict with the rights of the intended parents both legally and ethically. As we consider the
contracts used in surrogacy and previous court cases, we have a more concise ruling on the borders
of the end of the surrogate s rights and the beginning of the intended parent s rights. Since the
intended parents initiate the process, they should receive their intentions, but it should be regulated.
Depending on the case, the social parents may not be not related to the child (Nardo 16). In
previous court cases, rulings are difficult because of the conflicting moral and legal rights of
parenthood. The results typically point to the intended parents... Show more content on

We cannot battle those who are infertile for what extent they would go to in order to have a child
(Cotton 34). Because of this, regulation of surrogacy is important, especially in terms of those
who are not the ones who initiate the process. For surrogates, we must understand the emotional
toll they will go through and accept things will not be perfect. Their efforts should be recognized
in some form along with appreciation for their cooperation. As a surrogate, they should remember
what the purpose of the process is and stick to what they were assigned and agreed to do.
Intended parents should understand that when a third party is involved disagreements will occur
and compromise should be exerted. They must also recognize as much as they have wanted a
child, the surrogate may form the same attachment as they do, so they must address it morally not
selfishly. For children, we must consider the complexity of surrogacy, as they are the direct results.
They should be given the same respect and care as another other child. Their interests should be
kept in mind whether it is from the social parents side or the biological parents

French Republican Calendar Dbq Essay
During the French Revolution, the National Convention created a new calendar in 1793 based on
the beliefs and thoughts of the revolutionists. This French Republican Calendar ended Christian
holidays and included new ones that celebrated the overthrow of an absolutist ruler. Although
generally well received by Republicans, the working class and some Catholics detested the calendar,
as they thought it was abhorrent and against the Christian faith. The government of Franceadopted
this new calendar in order to promote the morals of the revolution and break from their past

Denis stood against the calendar and its removal of classic Christian holidays (Doc 5). This
dechristianization of France and arrival of new celebrations that rejoiced revolutionary values
instead of pious ones disgusted many churchgoers. Different festivals were now named after events
in the French Revolution or after nature, which hinted at the impending Romantic Movement in
France. Since the National Convention saw this resistance to a different calendar without Catholic
morals, they attempted to make it as appealing as they possibly could by associating the new
months with beautiful women (Doc 3). Much like how clothing stylists today use attractive models
to advertise their designs, the government created engravings of the calendar featuring gorgeous
mascots to promote it. With this appealing campaign, the changed calendar appeared less
threatening and outrageous. However, some citizens of France, such as a government official from
Steenwerck, Picardy, ordered for even more eradication of signs of the monarchial regime (Doc 6).
If any sign of the old government existed in the church other than the symbols of the Revolution, it
seemed dishonorable, as some Radical Republicans wanted complete destruction of their past life.
They associated these Christian holidays and the church as a direct connection to despotism

Came First Church
P Which came first, the Church or the mission of the Church? How do you answer that question?
When I have asked people that question, they usually answer the Church. We experience the
Church before we understand mission. We go to church. We worship in church. We come to know
and grow in our faith through the Church. People point out that the Holy Spirit came upon the 120
followers of Christ in the Upper Room 10 days after Christ s Ascension. When the window opened
and Peter gave his first sermon, the Church began. What is often forgotten is what occurred 10 days
before Pentecost.
For that we read Matthew 28:19 20, the last words Jesus spoke to his followers: Go, therefore, and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you... Jesus gave his followers a
mission, which preceded the formation of the Church. The formation of the Church would evolve
later, as we read about in the Acts of the Apostles. The mission, given by Christ, preceded the
Church, and the Church emerged from that mission.

Similarities Between Greek And Persian Empires
Although they bear some superficial similarities, the differences between Greeks and Persians
during the years 1000 30 B.C.E are clear. The thought that the Greek empires are better than the
Persian empires is one that I believe in. Greece and Persia s religion is one factor that makes both
of these empires so diverse from each other. During the Achaemenid Period, the main religion of
Persia at the time was Zoroastrianism, which the Iranian prophet and reformer Zoroaster founded
in the 6th century B.C.E. At the time the royal family brought in Zoroastrianism to Persia, and
since the royal family believed in it, most of the people of the Persian Empire choose to believe in
it too. Greeceon the other hand, did not have a religion until 146 B.C.E when Christianity entered
the empire. Before Christianity had entered Greece, they believed in their mythological stories.
Each myth or story had a lesson to be learned by the reader. Together with religion, the way each
empire ran their government was a major difference between the Greek and the Persian Empire.
In fact, Greece was originally a monarchy, but later on, Athens, one of the city states of Greece,
started the first ever democratic. During this time Greece also sets up individual towns called city
states. A few of the most powerful city states include Athens, Sparta and Argos. Persia on the other
hand was always a monarchy. In Persia, governors called Satrap govern each province called

Carl Rogers Theory of Personality
Personality theories suggest explanations for behaviors and how to change them. Multiple
personality theories exist however one of the most interesting is the theory of personality by Carl

Rogers (January 8,1902 February 4, 1987) was an influential American psychologist who, along
with Abraham Maslow founded the humanistic approach to psychology ( Carl, 2017, para. 1). Carl

McLeod (2014) explains that self concept has three parts which are self esteem, self image, and
ideal self. He says Rogers believed self esteem developed from how our parents interacted with
us (McLeod, 2014). Simply, self image is how we see ourselves (McLeod, 2014). McLeod
(2014) mentions that Self image influences how a person thinks, feels and behaves in the world.
According to McLeod (2014), our ideal self is who we desire to be. Basically, the closer a
persons self image and ideal self are to each other the higher one s self esteem becomes. Rogers
developed Person centered therapy. Rogers basic tenet was that if unconditional positive regard
(Respect), genuineness and honesty (Congruence), and empathic understanding (Empathy) were
present in a relationship, growth and psychological healing would occur ( Carl, 2017).
McLeod(2014) suggest that incongruence exist when a person s self concept does not match
reality. For example, a student who makes good grades on test might think they are a great
student, when in reality they never come to class and lie to the teacher with excuses. According
to McLeod(2014) Conditional positive regard is when the person is loved depending on correct
and acceptable behaviors (McLeod, 2014). Lastly, unconditional positive regard is where the
person is loved and supported no matter what the person does (McLeod, 2014). Orlov Coleman

European Attitudes Towards The American Civil War
In April 1861, the United States declared a state of insurrection against the Confederacy of
rebellious southern states. In Europe, the ordeal was referred to as The American Question. The
question could not be evaded; a choice had to be made between neutrality and intervention.
European attitudes towards the American Civil Warwould have a significant effect on the war s
ultimate outcome (Randall and Donald 355).
Throughout the early months of the conflict, the reaction of Europe was of great interest to both
sides; Queen Victoria s Great Britain, in particular. Would Queen Victoria recognize Confederate
independence? Such recognition would legitimize the Confederacy and provide it with allies who
could furnish weapons and supplies the Southern cause desperately needed (Davis 197).
At the outbreak of the war, most foreigners were poorly informed about America, according to
Leslie Stephen in 1865:
The name of America five years ago, called up to the ordinary English mind nothing but a vague
cluster of associations, compounded of Mrs. Trollope, Martin Chuzzlewit, and Uncle Tom s Cabin.
The choice between neutrality and intervention was not an easy one; either choice would lead to
more choices. The question dealt with several issues, and it was difficult to read the conflict amidst
threatening demands of angry belligerents. England had to guess the future in order to make a wise
decision while balancing interests at home (Randall and Donald 355).

What Is The Role Of Broadcasting In ABC Sports
Once again ABC sports was at the forefront of sports broadcasting. However, this time it was
sports that was bringing live news to the world. During game 3 of the 1989 World Series an
earthquake in San Francisco shocked the sports world and the entire country. ESPN had a
generator in its center field location and allowed it to stay on the air and give on the scene reports
live on television (Keown). If it were not for that baseball game then nobody would have known
what exactly was happening in San Francisco at the time, because the city experienced a huge
blackout. The Goodyear Blimp, which ABC hired, gave aerial shots of the ballpark and surrounding
city to those watching the game around the country (Keown). ESPNchanged from being a sports
station to a news station that was relaying information to millions across the country. ESPN and
ABC knew that they had to change gears from sports broadcasting to news. They need to stay on
the air and continue to report live updates as the city went black and countless lives were lost. It is
one of the greatest sports broadcasting moments of all time, and the game only lasted a couple of
innings. During the 2016 Summer Olympicsin Rio, Ryan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The national anthem is about respecting those who put their lives on the lie to protect our freedom
at home and abroad. I think athletes have a great platform to conduct change in our society either
social, civil, etcetera, but I think they should choose their platforms to represent the change they
want. I do believe that all players have the right to their first amendment, but they must understand
the cause they are fighting against. By standing during the national anthem you are not hurting the
politicians that you are fighting against, you are hurting the men and women who put their lives
before ours. They fight for our freedom and I think we must show them the utmost

Animal Abuse In Canada
To this day, animals in every country, state, province and cities are getting abused. Some people
are that abuse animals are not aware that they are doing so. Others, are well aware of that they are
doing to animals. This essay will consist of topics that have to do with the Canada Criminal Code
consequences for abusing animals in Canada, the types of abuse will follow, as well the reasoning
of why people continue to follow through with barbaric and inhumane actions towards helpless
animals, and companies and or places that use animals for testing and/or entertainment. Around the
world millions of animals lose their lives and get brutally tortured.

Abusing animals is not acceptable and it is most definitely inexcusable. Laws and consequences
that are more harsh should be put into place. Why should animals be treated differently? A
human that abuses an animal badly on purpose, should be considered dangerous. If a person
cannot act humanely towards an animal, then in reality, what s to stop them from acting like
that towards a human? A person who abuses an animal is dangerous to humans and animals
alike. Another valid reason to make more harsher consequences is simple. Say a person does
serve his/her time in jail or pays the fine. Sure they will not be allowed to own an animal, but
what s to stop them from abusing an animal again? There should be a rule in place where your
on protocol and have people supervising the person to make sure that they will not abuse an
animal again. Or say if they did abuse an animal again, the fine and jail time should triple or
double, the person should be put into a course about animal abuse and how to treat an animal, and
how bad of pain the animal goes through during abuse. Abusing an animal is like abusing a child,
the child is defenseless and can not do anything to stop it. That is the same thing with an animal.
What can an animal do to defend itself? Run and hide? Maybe try to bite or scratch? Other than that
the animal is completely defenseless.

Ocean Acidification
The issue on ocean acidification is popularizing but what exactly is ocean acidification? It
occurs when carbon dioxide is absorbed in the ocean s waters from then on a series of chemical
reactions take place which lowers the ocean s water pH, carbonate ion concentration, as well as
the saturation states of the calcium carbonate minerals ( What is Ocean Acidification? ). Since
we are addressing the issue on ocean acidification we will touch on the marine creatures that are
harmed and will possibly be harmed due to the acidification of the seawater. A background of the
chemicals involved as well the beneficial usage of the chemicals will be described in order to
address the solution to this environmental problem. Ocean acidification is said... Show more content

A process called iron fertilization which stimulates photosynthesis in phytoplankton. Phytoplankton
has the ability to convert dissolved carbon dioxide in the ocean into carbohydrate and oxygen gas.
This solution, seeming to be the best answer to the problem is not without fault. A statement by
the IAP cautioned against this climate engineering. Mitigation approaches such as adding
chemicals to counter the effects of acidification are likely to be expensive, only partly effective
and only at a very local scale, and may pose additional unanticipated risks to the marine
environment. There has been very little research on the feasibility and impacts of these approaches.
Substantial research is needed before these techniques could be applied (Halting ocean
acidification in time). Unfortunately, a process such as this one proves to be quite expensive,
difficult, and is not proven to cause other problems. Lowering carbon dioxide emissions is currently
our best defense to ocean acidification however the mitigation processes such as iron fertilization
could be a potential future

Tyndale Chapel
In one of the classes, we went to the chapel to go through the Stations of the Cross. We were
instructed to treat this exercise as Visio Divina. The hymn Lead me to Calvary prepared my heart to
personally experience the journey of our Lord Jesus Christ to Calvary. Tyndale Chapel has
traditional Stations with some stations following tradition rather than Scripture. During the class
time, these traditional stations did not stop me from utilizing Gospel contemplation to enter into
the story experientially. I stopped at a few Stations as they caught my attention. I noticed my
emotions that some of the images of the Stations brought to me and led me to pray. I mention two
of them in the following. I remember I stopped at Station Four Jesussees his mother . The image

Essay about Blue Collar Brilliance
Blue Collar Brilliance
David R Miller
Comp 1
Essay 1
In my observation mentally with Mr. Roses essay on blue collar brilliance, Mr Rose tries to tell
the reader on the different levelsof work there is for high educated people opposed to the non
educated. Furthermore he tries express through his family experiences in the work environment
how a person with a manual labor is not so different than a person with a high level of education,
they are equal in job to job views but not in society. My mother Rose Mesaglio (Rosie), shaped her
idenity as a waitress in coffee shops and family resteraunts (Rose, 2009) This is by far one of my
favorite statements offered by Rose, from my own experiences in the work field. I like Rose s

A book can not tell you about the reality of the world and its work enviroment, that taught
through doing not reading. In conlcusion I have pointed out the difference between a college
grad opposed to a non educated person, are they so different? Its sad how society labels people by
lack of eduaction. If some of these so called high classed eduacated people would take the time
and actually do a job outside of there world, would nt that also be considered Learning ? Think
about it, to beccome humbled by your own actions is a learning experience. Society today has a
very low sense of understanding about blue collar and white collar jobs. They only look at the
cover as opposed to what really lies inside. I firmly believe that society needs a reality check as to
really does all the work to make the world move as it does. Also in my honest opinion learning on
the job can or is more beneficial than what any college or school can teach about a trade. So next
time you see a landscaper, waitress, or maybe even pizza delivery man, think about how hard that
person works to make that company succeed, its not the owner who does it. A company is as good
as its employees, bottom line.

The Theory Application For Communication Theories
Theory Application Through the course of taking field notes for twenty four hours I interacted with
over fifty people. In these interactions, my most important relationships were represented as well as
random daily interaction that taught me a lot about the way I communicate. In this paper I will
analyze three of those interaction in terms of communicationtheories. I chose these interactions
based on them being able to provide the clearest examples of theories. I used predicted outcome
value theoryto explain a first meeting and the conversation that followed, impression management
to describe how I have to interact with my family, and relational dialectics theory as it relates to the
tensions underlying the interaction with my boyfriend.
Steven and Kate: Predicted Outcome Value Theory My first hour at work passed in acquainting
myself with two other student workers I hadn t met before. I was first to introduce myself and get
the conversation going, asking all the familiar questions one asks when getting acquainted. I
learned that the male was Steven, a freshman majoring in public relations, who was currently
rushing a fraternity. Before that we talked about high school and discovered we d both come to
MTSU with around 30 hours of credit, and he seemed very nice, but the moment he mentioned
rushing I suddenly lost interest. From personal experience I distrusted frat guys, and assume,
unfairly I m sure, that they care more about socializing than they do about their future

Incorporation Of Emotions And The Workplace
Incorporation of Emotions in the Workplace
It is a general understanding that emotions and the workplace do not go along. Nonetheless,
emotions are an imminent part of who we are as humans, and emotions are present in influencing
our everyday activities and decisions. This makes it highly unlikely and utopic to believe that
emotions will not be part of our workplace. The true issue is how to cope with it and how much
is in fact too much. Anne Kreamer is a former high executive at Nickelodeon who wrote a book
that deals with these issues and concerns, and she wisely addresses them by first defining concepts,
and then giving alternatives as to what to do and how to deal with them. She successfully has
achieved through her book to reach out to the entire population, and deal with a taboo issue
straightforward without affecting sensibilities, and instead opening the minds of millions who have
had the opportunity to read her book titled It s always personal: Navigating Emotion in the New
Workplace. She manages to incorporate real life experiences and concerns, as well as biological
and scientifically proven facts about emotion, followed by tools and exercises that help people
cope with everyday feelings and emotions at the workplace, and even more important, she
developed four character descriptions, none of which are mutually exclusive and instead overlap,
but all equally important assets to any company. Her book has great impact because she deals with
this topic that has

Strategies Used by American Security
American Security
After the September, 11th terrorists attack, the United States government 9/11 commission
recommended that biometric entry exit screening system was ideal for travelers who were leaving
and entering the United States. They reiterated that this was essential for national security. Border
screening systems were to be consolidated with United States Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator
Technology (Haddal, 2010). This was supposed to streamline border inspections. Legislations were
instituted that were geared towards enhancing airline security, visa border security, and maritime
security.
The Aviation and Security Act of November 2001, the PATRIOTIC Act, and Border Security and
Visa Entry Reform Act of May 2002 were geared towards enhancing homeland security (Haddal,
2010). The Homeland Security Act of 2002 merged border and interior enforcement functions of
Department of Agriculture, the INS, and the U.S. Customs service to form Directorate of Border
and Transportation Security within the Department of Homeland Security (Haddal, 2010). Free
sharing of information and resources was made possible between USBP and CBP. The land, rail,
and transportation network became secure save for Transport Security Administration.
Alternative strategies that can be used to enhance border security can be effective collection, use,
and sharing of intelligence by exploiting networked intelligence. This should be done by sharing
both biographic and biometric information

  • 2. The United States Department Of Education The U.S. Department of Education provides supplemental funding to local school districts to meet the needs of at risk and low income students. This funding is known as Title 1 funding and the schools that receive a portion of this funding are referred to as Title 1 schools. Teachers in Title 1 schools encounter students facing life struggles that many of us cannot imagine. Encouraging these students to focus in schoolcan be difficult, but it is essential to overcome the challenge in order for students to achieve academically. Finding ways to engage Title 1 students can be a daunting task due to the fact that they face daily struggles just to survive. However, teachers must use student motivation techniques to engage these students. These techniques will assist in the students success in the classroom. In education, student engagement refers to the degree of attention, curiosity, interest, optimism, and passion that students show when they are learning or being taught, which extends to the level of motivation they have to learn and progress in their education (Hidden Curriculum, 2014). Every teacher encounters the challenge of getting students engaged in work in the classroom. While some students enthusiastically walk into a classroom each day, others need motivation and inspiration to focus in school. This issue is significant for school leaders because the role of the school is to provide a place for students to engage and interact with knowledge. If students are not ... • 3. Keirsey Personality Types Please Understand Me II by David Keirsey offers an in depth look into the Keirsey personality types. For the INTJ, this book serves as a helpful and insightful guide to better understand oneself and others; the INTJ can also utilize this text to better emphasize and interact with various types of people. The INTJ s general temperament is a Rational or a NT. Rationals are logical, contemplative, and inquiring people (Keirsey, 1998, p. 164). They want to understand everything, and this mindset often makes them appear uninterested and detached from others. Despite this external appearance, Rationals do care, but they must intentionally focus in order to show their care to others. Overall, NTs are the world s problem solvers who will happily spend... Order determines what things are higher or lower and before and after each other. A Rational could be compared to a sociologist who is trying for figure out the hierarchy and roles of individual parts of a group. Organization helps NTs understand the parts of a complex system rather than levels and ranks. Procurement Strategy 540 Introduction 140 Procurement strategy 540 traditional procurement Competitive tender process The traditional procurement route has become one of the standard approaches in the construction industry since the 19th century. The key characteristics of a traditional procurement route with a competitive tender process are competition or tendering cannot start until the design process is complete, the designing process is separate from the construction process and the lack of contractor involvement in the design process, with the design and technical development being carried out by the clients consultant. (Cartlidge, 2013). There are three stages to a traditional approach, those stages being the Preparation stage (Appraisal and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the tender is completed, one contractor must be chosen. Usually it is the one with the lowest price is chosen, as it will give the client the best value of money. However recently there have been many times were the lowest one is not chosen as it is too low and it may not give the client the moneys worth in the long term. One tender is chosen and one is chosen as a reserve, both of them are informed of their job. The chosen contractor is then to submit a fully priced bill of quantities for checking as soon as possible. With using this procurement route there are many advantages, such as the client retaining responsibility for the design team, the design team will report straight to the client to make sure quality controls are maintained. There is the assurance of price, as the client will understand the cost of the project, if all the work is fully designed in advance. This also allows a basis for variations to be priced at the rates given, it is also easier to analyse the prices. With this method the works can be done at the lowest price, getting the best value of money. (Consultations.rics.org, 2016) However with those advantages come disadvantage, such as for this to be effective, the has to be ready so fully designed before the tenders are requested, this could ... Undoubtedly, the author of Galatians was Paul and it may have been the earliest of his letters. It s brief, emotional and controversial, and its importance far exceeds its size. Martin Luther, claimed Galatians as my epistle. I am married to it and this letter became the cornerstone of the Protestant Reformation. Paul s letter is addressed to the churches in Galatia (Galatians 1.2) but the location of these churches is a matter of debate. A minority of scholars have argued that Galatia is an ethnic reference to a Celtic people living in northern Asia Minor, but there is no evidence that Paul ever visited that region.... I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel (Galatians 1.6) Unflinchingly, he sets out his credentials and then insists that he is a true apostle, chosen and appointed by God, and argues strongly that he needed no authorization from Jerusalem. He knew that the gospel he received after his experience on the road to Damascus was the message he was to preach and that is why he could claim to be an apostle, just like the original disciples. He dismisses their accusation adding that the mission given by God was also approved by Peter, James and John.(Galatians 2.9) As a Jew, a Roman citizen, a Pharisee who had become a Christian, he could see both sides of the story, and was uniquely equipped to fulfil the role of spreading the Christian message to the Gentile world. Hauck uses this article to redefine semantics, and then apply that new definition to general semantics. • 7. Tow Way Immersion Education Programs in the United States Introduction Since the 1960s, two way immersion (TWI) education programs have existed in the United States and have recently seen a surge in growth in the last two decades. Consistent research results have caused many educators, administrators and parents to recognize the benefits associated for all students involved in these programs, which has encouraged the expansion and implementation of these types of programs across the US. In addition to the need to educate the vast growing minority language demographic in the US, bilingual education leads to academic achievement for all involved (Lindhold Leary 2004). If the research clearly shows that TWI programs not only help the language minority groups but also the language majority groups to achieve at or above average grade level academic success in two languages, then why aren t all parents urging their school administrators to implement programs in their kids schools? Although the number of TWI schools has grown significantly since the first one opened in Coral Gables, FL in 1963, the lack of common knowledge of the existence and success of these programs is one of the main factors to blame for the slow evolution of our schools into TWI based schools. Components of TWI Programs TWI programs differ from traditional schooling in the fact that they combine students from the language minority and language majority (English in the US) in the same learning environment for all or most of the school day and strive to promote ... • 9. Decriminalization Of Prostitution Essay There are about 13,828,700 prostitutes in the world; 3 million in China, 2 million in India and 1 million in the United States. Each year in New York City there is 4,200 prostitution arrest, and 5 officers will need to conduct a prostitution sting (a sting operation is an undercover operation designed to catch a person committing a crime or in this case a prostitute). Yet, what even is prostitution? Do we as a people gather the full concept and the reasoning behind why these men and women subject themselves to intercourse for money? The definition of prostitution is an occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment. Though prostitution is defined as an occupation it is still criminalized by today s society and government.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While I agree that child prostitution is a significant global problem, both in developed and undeveloped countries, I must argue the involvement of sex workers. A primary reason why we have a child prostitution increase is due to the criminalization of adult prostitution. When a sexually ambitious person cannot find an adult sex worker, they would turn to pimps, who mostly use underage sex workers, to satisfy their sexual urges. By keeping sex work illegal, victims of sex trafficking are less likely to go to the police out of fear of being arrested, also, sex trafficking victims are often treated like criminals. Sadly, 100,000 children are forced into prostitution every year in America. But at the same time, there is evidence to support that legalizing prostitution reduces sex trafficking. In 2001, Germany legalized sex work. Over the course of the next 10 years, instances of sex based human trafficking decreased by 10 percent within the country. Working with instead of against sex workers will lead to more slaves being rescued. In Germany, it already is. While prohibitionists claim that legalizing prostitution has increased human trafficking in the country, the data doesn t support them. Proclaimed by Cathy Reisenwitz of the Daily ... Every successful manager has and demands respect, is passionate and caring, builds a team, obtains expectations, and helps people grow. In the influential film Coach Carter, we are introduced to a character by the name of Ken Carter, who is offered a position as a basketball coach at Richmond High School, upon he decides to accept the offer to take on the mission of guiding, training, and teaching students on the team how to not only be great basketball players, but how to be great students as well. Throughout the film Ken Carter demonstrates a unique and distinctive coaching style that ultimately leads his students to success. Every coach has their own style of teaching and training their players, however after watching the film Coach Carter it is palpable that Ken Carter has a very unique and particular style of coaching. After taking on the role as a basketball coach at Richmond High School, Carter recognises that his students have no intent on succeeding in their academic studies and simply have the mindset to be successful in their beloved sport of basketball. Carter obtained a strong disagreeing of these views, as well as the belief the staff in the school acquired that the statistics are too difficult to beat, so the additional effort put in will not differentiate anything so Carter made a contract for his students which stated what rules they must follow, ... • 11. Analysis Of Gaius Valerius Catullus s The Iliad The one main difference between the gods and mortals is that mortals can die, making it difficult for a man to become truly god like. Homer makes no mention of the afterlife in The Iliad, meaning that the only true way for a mortal to live on is through the remembrance of their life on earth. Many strive for immortality, but to achieve it, one must obtain Kleos, the glory a man receives in war. If a hero like Achillesor Hectorwere mentioned to someone today, chances are, the person would know who the hero was. This is how immortality through Kleos works. When the poet Gaius Valerius Catullus describes how he wishes for his poems to last for many generations, even when he has long since passed, he is explaining that, through his poetry,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of the promise of Kleos, a warrior is willing to risk everything he has, including his life, to fight in battle. When Hector makes a visit to Troy, he visits his wife and son. His wife tries to convince him to stay behind and not return, because if he does, he will die in battle. Hector knows this, but says he is willing to risk his life to obtain the glory he and the rest of Troy deserve (Fagles, 6. 510 555.) There are 255 named deaths in The Iliad (Laura Jenkinson.) This statistic shows the extremity of the fighting. Achilles, Diomedes, Hector, and Patroclus are the top killers in the epic. These are, furthermore, four of the more commonly recognized names when someone mentions The Iliad today. This correlates with the idea that those who kill more people are more likely to achieve Kleos and be remembered. As a quantitative way of tracking how many people a warrior killed on the battle field, he can take the armor from the man he killed and use it as a trophy. After Patroclus death, an argument arises about who gets his armor, which is actually Achilles armor. Euphorbus claimed he was the one who actually killed Patroclus so he deserves the prize, but Menelaus would not have it. Menelaus killed Euphorbus, which resulted in all the Trojans being scared of facing Menelaus to fight for the armor, with the exception of Hector. Hector succeeded in getting Patroclus armor, by showing fearlessness and willingness to fight for it (Fagles, 17.1 140). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. IIi.features Of A Smart Grid III .FEATURES OF A SMART GRID Reliability The smart grid uses technology to self locate faults so their rectification is fast and sound. This self healing property of smart grid makes it more reliable than the conventional grid. Main technology used here is state estimation. Multiple routes are used in a smart grid which were used in the old grid as well. But mostly they were radial in nature so that any failure can cause total failure of the system and the current would be shunted to other elements. Flexibility in network topology Next generation grid technology would be far more flexible in transferring two way energy by allowing for distributed generation from solar cells, fuel cells , electric vehicles, wind turbines . Classic one way distribution is not that flexible to cater to problems when load is higher than the generating end . By using smarter grid this is possible. Efficiency Numerous contributions to overall improvement of the efficiency of energy infrastructure are anticipated from the deployment of smart grid technology, in particular including demand side management, for example turning off air conditioners during short term spikes in electricity price, reducing the voltage when possible on distribution lines through Voltage/VAR Optimization (VVO), eliminating truck rolls for meter reading, and reducing truck rolls by improved outage management using data from Advanced Metering Infrastructure systems. The overall effect is less redundancy in transmission ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lewis s Mere Christianity, an influential composition of Biblical opinion, promotes the Gospel first through live broadcasts during World War II and now as a major premise in theological discussions. It was Friday, September 1st, 1939 when the course of the war changed drastically for Great Britain. James Welch, the Director of Religious Broadcasting at the British Broadcasting Company was interrupted during The Daily Service with a note that pensively stated, Germany invaded Poland early this morning (Phillips 1). Hence if I gave a series of talks, I shd mention Christianity only at the end, and would prefer not to unmask my battery until then (C.S. Lewis, the BBC, and Mere Christianity). He wanted to ease into the truth about religion and salvation by first evaluating human morality through a broadcast discussion entitled, Right and Wrong: A Clue to the Meaning of the Universe (C.S. Lewis, the BBC, and Mere Christianity). The idea that, just as all bodies are governed by the law of gravitation and organisms by biological laws, so the creature called man also had his law, described Lewis in the transposed talk of Mere Christianity. He went on to say, that a body could not choose whether it obeyed the law of gravitation or not, but a man could choose either to obey the law of Human Nature or to disobey it (Lewis 18). C.S. Lewis describes through these early statements that morality is universal, for if it wasn t, the very war they were fighting would not have a reason for its existence; Adolf Hitler would have been acting on his own view of morality which simply differed from Great Britain s and the Ally forces . It is commonly understood, however, that mankind has some sort of inherent idea of right and wrong that the Nazi party was violating by drastic measures. In addition to these powerfully spoken opinions by this Oxford don, Lewis did not want to enforce the viewpoint of a single Christian denomination, but leave the decision of minor Christian beliefs to the individual. He states in Mere Christianity: The reader should be warned that I offer no help to anyone who is hesitating between two Christian denominations. Now the question arises, why do we need a less sensitive system, the answer if a more sensitive system is used then there is a huge change in the digital output with the very little tilt of the hand, which is difficult to be handled. This dechristianization of France and arrival of new celebrations that rejoiced revolutionary values instead of pious ones disgusted many churchgoers. Different festivals were now named after events in the French Revolution or after nature, which hinted at the impending Romantic Movement in France. Since the National Convention saw this resistance to a different calendar without Catholic morals, they attempted to make it as appealing as they possibly could by associating the new months with beautiful women (Doc 3). Much like how clothing stylists today use attractive models to advertise their designs, the government created engravings of the calendar featuring gorgeous mascots to promote it. With this appealing campaign, the changed calendar appeared less threatening and outrageous. However, some citizens of France, such as a government official from Steenwerck, Picardy, ordered for even more eradication of signs of the monarchial regime (Doc 6). If any sign of the old government existed in the church other than the symbols of the Revolution, it seemed dishonorable, as some Radical Republicans wanted complete destruction of their past life. • 35. Came First Church P Which came first, the Church or the mission of the Church? How do you answer that question? When I have asked people that question, they usually answer the Church. We experience the Church before we understand mission. We go to church. We worship in church. We come to know and grow in our faith through the Church. People point out that the Holy Spirit came upon the 120 followers of Christ in the Upper Room 10 days after Christ s Ascension. When the window opened and Peter gave his first sermon, the Church began. What is often forgotten is what occurred 10 days before Pentecost. For that we read Matthew 28:19 20, the last words Jesus spoke to his followers: Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you... Jesus gave his followers a mission, which preceded the formation of the Church. The formation of the Church would evolve later, as we read about in the Acts of the Apostles. The mission, given by Christ, preceded the Church, and the Church emerged from that mission. If we take a moment and return to that rocky mountaintop in Matthew 28:19 20. Feel the breeze. • 36. Similarities Between Greek And Persian Empires Although they bear some superficial similarities, the differences between Greeks and Persians during the years 1000 30 B.C.E are clear. The thought that the Greek empires are better than the Persian empires is one that I believe in. Greece and Persia s religion is one factor that makes both of these empires so diverse from each other. During the Achaemenid Period, the main religion of Persia at the time was Zoroastrianism, which the Iranian prophet and reformer Zoroaster founded in the 6th century B.C.E. At the time the royal family brought in Zoroastrianism to Persia, and since the royal family believed in it, most of the people of the Persian Empire choose to believe in it too. Greeceon the other hand, did not have a religion until 146 B.C.E when Christianity entered the empire. Before Christianity had entered Greece, they believed in their mythological stories. Each myth or story had a lesson to be learned by the reader. Together with religion, the way each empire ran their government was a major difference between the Greek and the Persian Empire. In fact, Greece was originally a monarchy, but later on, Athens, one of the city states of Greece, started the first ever democratic. During this time Greece also sets up individual towns called city states. A few of the most powerful city states include Athens, Sparta and Argos. Persia on the other hand was always a monarchy. Multiple personality theories exist however one of the most interesting is the theory of personality by Carl Rogers. Rogers writes, the core of man s nature is essentially positive (1961, p.73). Carl Ransom Rogers (January 8,1902 February 4, 1987) was an influential American psychologist who, along with Abraham Maslow founded the humanistic approach to psychology ( Carl, 2017, para. 1). He says Rogers believed self esteem developed from how our parents interacted with us (McLeod, 2014). Simply, self image is how we see ourselves (McLeod, 2014). McLeod (2014) mentions that Self image influences how a person thinks, feels and behaves in the world. According to McLeod (2014), our ideal self is who we desire to be. Basically, the closer a persons self image and ideal self are to each other the higher one s self esteem becomes. Rogers developed Person centered therapy. Rogers basic tenet was that if unconditional positive regard (Respect), genuineness and honesty (Congruence), and empathic understanding (Empathy) were present in a relationship, growth and psychological healing would occur ( Carl, 2017). McLeod(2014) suggest that incongruence exist when a person s self concept does not match reality. For example, a student who makes good grades on test might think they are a great student, when in reality they never come to class and lie to the teacher with excuses. According to McLeod(2014) Conditional positive regard is when the person is loved depending on correct and acceptable behaviors (McLeod, 2014). In Europe, the ordeal was referred to as The American Question. The question could not be evaded; a choice had to be made between neutrality and intervention. European attitudes towards the American Civil Warwould have a significant effect on the war s ultimate outcome (Randall and Donald 355). Throughout the early months of the conflict, the reaction of Europe was of great interest to both sides; Queen Victoria s Great Britain, in particular. Would Queen Victoria recognize Confederate independence? Such recognition would legitimize the Confederacy and provide it with allies who could furnish weapons and supplies the Southern cause desperately needed (Davis 197). At the outbreak of the war, most foreigners were poorly informed about America, according to Leslie Stephen in 1865: The name of America five years ago, called up to the ordinary English mind nothing but a vague cluster of associations, compounded of Mrs. Trollope, Martin Chuzzlewit, and Uncle Tom s Cabin. The choice between neutrality and intervention was not an easy one; either choice would lead to more choices. During game 3 of the 1989 World Series an earthquake in San Francisco shocked the sports world and the entire country. ESPN had a generator in its center field location and allowed it to stay on the air and give on the scene reports live on television (Keown). Another valid reason to make more harsher consequences is simple. Say a person does serve his/her time in jail or pays the fine. Sure they will not be allowed to own an animal, but what s to stop them from abusing an animal again? There should be a rule in place where your on protocol and have people supervising the person to make sure that they will not abuse an animal again.
