Relationship Between Greed And Grievance
What is the relationship between greed and grievance as motivating factors in violent conflict? Use at
least one case study to illustrate your argument
The greed and grievances theory provides opposing arguments as to what really are the causes for
violent conflict. Scholars have conducted numerous researches on a number of violent conflicts in
attempt to analyze to what extent greed or grievances appear to be motivating factors for violent
conflicts such as civil wars etc. Those who believe in the greed model trust that rebels draw out a cost
and benefit analysis and resort to arms if they greatly believe that violent conflict will improve their
situations economically. Supporters of the grievance model on the other hand believe that ... Show

I will analyze the relationship between greed and grievances and the role they played in Sierra Leone s
civil war. I will argue also that violent conflicts do not always fall into either greed or grievances
perfectly and in most cases they go hand in hand. However in the case of Sierra Leone, although
legitimate grievances were evident, greed had a greater impact on sustaining the outbreak of the
conflict.
Greed and grievances are found to be two of the most crucial causes of most violent conflicts as well
as the driving forces of mass rebellion. In the case of Sierra Leone, a war that went on from 1991 to
2002 killing about 50,000 people and displacing almost two thirds of the total population is a great
example of a violent conflict that fits both the greed and grievance based explanation. At the time,
Sierra Leon was a country based on a one party system and dominated by the APC also known as the
All people s congress . During the APC regime there was great misuse of political power for the
parties personal gain. There appeared to be great decline of total output, neglect of agriculture,
increase in unemployment, deterioration and neglect of agriculture, increase in unemployment
(Naguib, 2015). Although the president at the time made major reforms that pushed for a more
democratic state, that guaranteed basic human rights, he did not keep his promising allowing the APC

Gossip Girl Essay
I began to watch the first episode of Gossip Girl, I have never watched the series before and after
hearing about the blog I decided it would be a good time. An overview of what Gossip Girl is about is
that it is a fictional television show that explores the lives of people living amongst the elites in
society in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Throughout the show, there are various characters and
scenarios that discuss the problems of the characters, who are not elites and are engulfed into a society
that they are not welcomed in. In the first season, they introduce the character of the teenagers who
have grown up in extremely wealthy backgrounds, such as Blair Waldorf, Nate Archibald, Chuck
Bass, and Serena van der Woodsen. They were born with heritage and attended the best Upper East
Side s private school, Constance in New York City. But with these teenagers who have a great status
and life, there is the lower class of the characters in Gossip Girl, which is the Humphrey family. Dan
and Jenny Humphrey s dad, Rufus is an old forgotten band artist, who now owns an art gallery, they
live in a loft in Brooklyn. They don t have a lot of wealth, but they still have enough money to send
Dan and Jenny to the same private school are Serena, Blair, Nate, and Chuck who are all Upper East
Side kids. Seeing that the lower class still have enough to be able to support and go to a private school

FDR The First Hundred Days Essay
FDR The First Hundred Days One of the most traumatic situations this country has ever experienced
was the Great Depression. It was an extraordinary event for the people of this country because , unlike
the previous events such as wars this country has experienced, it directly affected whole families,
including women and children. Many families were living in conditions similar to what we see in third
world countries today. These extraordinary times required an extraordinary leader. Franklin D.
Roosevelt was such a leader. While his New Deal policies were not the sole solution to the multitude
of problems that this country faced, the first hundred days of his administration set in place the
foundation that ultimately restored the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During his campaign, however, it was hard to tell exactly what Roosevelt s New Deal policy was. He
lashed out against the Hoover administration for high tariff policies, but by the end of the campaign,
no real difference separated the candidates on the tariff issue. In his speeches he said he would
increase aid to the unemployed, but he would slash federal spending (Leuchtenburg 10). One of the
New Deal administrators reflected subsequently: Given later developments, the campaign speeches
often read like a giant misprint, in which Roosevelt and Hoover speak each other s lines (qtd. in
Leuchtenburg 11). However, Hoover s handling of the economic crisis and many other issues virtually
assured Roosevelt of the Presidency.
In his inaugural speech, Roosevelt said This nation asks for action, and action now.... We must act and
act quickly (qtd. in Schlesinger 1). This address was also where his famous quote The only thing we
have to fear is fear itself was uttered (qtd. in Freidel 93) The first part of the New Deal happened in
the first three months of his presidency, which became know as the hundred days.
The first objective of the new administration was to get the banks on a more firm footing. On his very
first night in office, Roosevelt directed his Secretary of the Treasury to draft an emergency banking
bill, and gave him only five days to get it ready. On March fifth he proclaimed a national bank holiday

Treadwell Film Techniques
Initially the film presents as a cinematic memorial to Treadwell even going so far as the places name
and date of birth and death on the lower third of the screen which acts like a gravestone in the opening
shot of the movie. This commeration continues throught the film but as with other aspects of
Treadwell s personality Herzog works to complicate and at times undermine Treadwell s approach to
the natural world he achives this a number of different ways but primarily uses juxtaposition between
interviews with professionals and Tredwells personal footage for instance in this scene Herzog deftly
places a piece of radio from the curator of the boutique museum over Tredweells footage if I look at it

Hertog also asserts the cold brutality of natural by revealing the brutal circumstances of Timothy
Treadwell s death early on the film. Craftly editing the chronology Trewells life to aid Herzogs own
vision of a chaotic nature. In a typical narrative art the death of protagonist generally comes at the
climax but because Herzog reveals that Treadwell was eaten by the very same bears he sought to
protect in the exposition of the movie we struggled to empathize with the loved Treadwill felt for the
animals of the Alaskan wilderness even further we find it hard to believe Treadwells work and vision
because know of his eventual demise and brtuality the grizzly bears are capable of. So we se an
expertly framed shot of Treadwell in the foreground and a group of bears in the background. You cant
help lose trust in his mission instead look towards Herzog s constant narration for guidance in short
gizzly man proposes to be about Treadwells life and passion but if we dig a little deeper into the
narrative structure and consistent authorial narration we can see that Herzog is guiding us to believe in
his own cynical vision of wild

Church History Chapter 4
For the same Church
Through reading the chapter 4 of the book Church History , written by Kevin Hughes, I find the
connection between the Luther s Conflict with Catholic opponents and the definition of the Church. In
other words, although the traditional Catholic theologians and Luther have different views about the if
a human could follow Gospel perfectly, they were still a unity that gathered by God to form the
Church, and both of them were doing their best to teach the Holy Spirit of God to other citizens.
Arguing the sense of human sinfulness, Christians could better ways to bring Jesus Holy and love to
others. Moreover, the deeper understanding of sins could save from people from the suffering of
further sins. For example, between 1517 and 1520, Luther wrote thirty works about his theology ideas
and sold more than 300,000 copies total. It gives many people a completely new view about human
sins.

In other words, when people deeply understand the righteousness of God, they would find that it is
impossible for human beings to keep themselves completely away from the sins, even the pope and
saints would make mistakes. However, the Church did help people to make connection with the Holy
Spirit and prevent the further sins. For example, the Christ had bequeathed the spirit to the Church,
and the Spirit preserved the Church from error. The Church couldn t directly teach the Holy Spirit to
believers, but it could provide them a connection with God and the Holy Spirit. As a result, under God
s great love, those sins are still forgivable. It is the point of view that I never thought

David B. Truman Lobby Groups Essay
Lobby Groups
In this comparison between David B. Truman and V.O. Key, Jr. s views on lobby groups they have
different interpretations on role and interaction of these groups in government. In a democratic system
there is bound to be resentment and desire for change because it is impossible to satisfy everybody.
Truman and Key describe how those individuals try to be recognized while forming groups for
strength in numbers . In the comparison of interest and pressure groups it is apparent that although
they created resentment in the inner layers of government, they were necessary to the development
and progress of the political system.
According to David B. Truman in the excerpt from The Governmental Process he demonstrates ...

Truman states that the National Government and the State Legislatures take notice when the interest
groups consolidate and tend to accept compromises over common goals. When they are verified of an
increasing amount of support for a particular policy or deceit against it, they usually take action. In
this manner, the interest groups are beneficial to the government because their opinions were created
by an individual and therefore they give the government a greater ability to facilitate the lifestyle of
their citizens. The interest groups can be very misleading in their size because of their pressure to
convert and convince impressionable people. Truman believes that the formation of interest groups
and political parties was inevitable because we offered elections as a means of representation and also
in a large, complex, diverse society there will always be people who are longing for change.
From this section of Truman s work it shows that lobby groups were helpful in modifying the National
Government to perform at a more responsive level. The Government could not have survived based
solely on the impact of interest groups. They survived and thrived for power in a symbiotic
relationship benefiting both groups.
Even if the political parties are added to the list, the result could properly be designated as a view
which seems hardly compatible with the relative stability of

Work Opportunity Tax Credit Essay
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is an incentive that is profitable for companies using it
and helpful for the jobseekers that qualify for the tax credit. At the same time, it can also be a bad
incentive because companies that use the tax credits will try to target only those specific jobseekers
and will disqualify any other person. I work for a company that specializes in government tax
incentives, mainly with WOTC because it is the most popular throughout the states, but there are
many more similar to it. This tax credit allows companies and agencies to save money on their taxes
when they hire employees from nine specific groups such as long term family assistance recipients, ex
felons, qualified recipients of Supplemental Security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To fix this issue of having companies solely hiring those that fit in the targeted groups, the program
should make a maximum amount of tax credits per company depending on the size of the company.
For example, for every 50 new employees, the maximum to qualify for the tax credit should be 25 30,
allowing the rest of the jobseekers to be considered. Another way to improve the tax credit program
and eliminating any issues, is by not focusing on the WOTC questionnaires the agencies give to
potential jobseekers. The Human Resource department should look at qualifying individuals based on
skill and knowledge. After that phase, they can see who qualify for the targeted groups, allowing a fair
chance from the beginning. My approaches will help companies have an equally biased hiring process
and not having them take advantage of receiving tax credits through this incentive. The tax credit was
created for those that have difficulty getting hired, so by using my approach it will allow for those that
don t fit in the targeted groups as well. If companies were required to have a maximum per company,
they will be forced to hire an equal amount of diversified employees and preventing

Sacrifice And Success
Sacrifice Or Success?
Something that everyone wants to achieve is success. Success is not something that comes easy in life,
one must be prepared to give sacrifices such as time, in order for them to reach a professional level of
success. In order to succeed, people must learn to make sacrifices in life. Sacrifice is necessary for
people to succeed because if people are not willing to sacrifice anything such as time or effort, they
will not succeed. They need to sacrifice dedication, effort, and time. These three fundamental
principles if used correctly, are the best tools in the race for success. If the rules of using maximum
effort, dedication, and time are followed to its highest potential, individuals seeking success will find

The common, or magic , number is 10,000 hours of practice in order for one to become master or
professional at what they are trying to accomplish. Most professional athletes such as hockey players
have been playing the sport for just about as long as they could walk. For example, most of the skaters
on the 18u Syracuse Stars AAA hockey team started playing the game at ages 3,4, or 5. Every player
on that team is fundamentally sound when it comes to the game. They have been around it for so long
that hockey became a way of life, these are the players, that dedicate the most time in order to
succeed. They give the small amount of practice time that they have everyday, 100% every time they
touch the ice. The hockey players across the world that dedicate the most time to their sport, will be
the ones who end up having the best chance at becoming a professional. The same goes for any
profession in which one would like to excel in. The hockey coach for the Syracuse Stars 18u AAA
team always says You get out of it, what you put in it boys (Coach Dan Jones). This holds true because
if you put in the time to succeed it will show. A better example would be if there is a player on the
team that makes each practice but plays sloppy and does not attend optional practices and makes no
effort to put in extra time,

Why Do Coaches Need Ethical Obligations In Professional...
This portfolio is a compilation of my works while pursuing a Master s degree in Coaching and
Athletic Administration. These selected works illustrate my professional development gained from
this educational experience. Seeking out professional development opportunities is critical for athletic
coaches and administrators because every sports program, regardless of the age or skill level, should
have a qualified coach lead it. In fact, many would argue there are a moral and a legal obligation to
have qualified coaches at all levels. There is a legal obligation because unqualified coaches are more
likely to teach improper skills and techniques, which puts athletes at risk for injuries. Further, there is
a moral obligation, as qualified coaches are more apt to understand and address the psychological and
physiological developmental needs for each athlete. When a coach knows these psychological and ...

An ethical decision making process based on sound principles eliminates unethical options and leads
to the best ethical decision possible. Coaches who make fair, ethical decisions based on sound
principles create trust and respect within a program.
Sports organizations have developed fourteen legal duties or obligations based on past negligence
lawsuits made against coaches and schools. Chapter V reviews the fourteen legal duties and reviews
how coaches can meet these guideline requirements. More importantly, coaches have an ethical
obligation to take proactive measures so young athletes can enjoy and learn in a safe, protective
environment.
Chapter VI describes how I would establish an exceptional youth basketball program. The chapter
reviews important components like coaching strategy, skill development, and relationship building
that a successful program must incorporate. This exceptional program is built on the coaching

Issues In The Story The Miniature Wife
In the story the miniature wife, the wife and husband have issues with their marriage. The couple tries
dealing with their issues, but they grow more apart when they try working the issues out. Many people
in the world deal with issues in their marriage. There are many approaches people can try to work on
their issues, some of these issues are listening to each other, treat each other equally, and bring
changes to the marriage. First of all listening is one of the keys to a relationship, Mr listen to the Mrs.
And Mrs. Listen to the Mr. The wife and the husband don t listen to each other as the husband states
So she screamed, but I couldn t hear her. (27) The husband tried to solve this issue by shrinking a
phone to talk to him. The phone went unanswered when the husband tried to contact her. Now the
wife wasn t listening to the husband. In my experience, my mom and my dad didn t listen to each
other at times and things would go horribly wrong. In a situation such as getting lost on a trip to
Arizona, my Dad didn t ask for directions as my Mom asked him to. Things went horribly wrong as it
did in the story. According to strongermariage.org many marriage issues start because one doesn t
listen to other important issues causing a bigger issue to be made. As in the story the couple didn t
listen to each other and a war started between them. Solving the issue must be approached by the one
of them putting everything that has been going in the past behind them, and ask the

The Discipline Of Military History
Military history is a humanities discipline within the scope of general historical recording of armed
conflict in the history of humanity, and its impact on the societies, their cultures, economies and
changing intra and international relationships.
Professional historians normally focus on military affairs that had a major impact on the societies
involved as well as the aftermath of conflicts, while amateur historians and hobbyists often take a
larger interest in the details of battles, equipment and uniforms in use. The essential subjects of
military history study are the causes of war, the social and cultural foundations, military doctrine on
each side, the logistics, leadership, technology, strategy, and tactics used, and how these changed ...

When certifying military history instructors the Combat Studies Institute deemphasizes rote detail
memorization and focuses on themes and context in relation to current and future conflict, using the

The discipline of military history is dynamic, changing with development as much of the subject area
as the societies and organisations that make use of it. The dynamic nature of the discipline of military
history is largely related to the rapidity of change the military forces, and the art and science of
managing them, as well as the frenetic pace of technological development that had taken place during
the period known as the Industrial Revolution, and more recently in the nuclear and information ages.
An important recent concept is the Revolution in Military Affairs which attempts to explain how
warfare has been shaped by emerging technologies, such as gunpowder. It highlights the short

Life Changing Moment In Life
When reminiscing on my past I m able to recall the certain moments, which have led to a path where I
find myself at a cross road. Searching through the databases of my mind, I m reminded of cherished
memories, though I attempt to pinpoint the times in which I have been successful in my decision
making; I cannot help but deliberate whether my past conveyed such a challenging decision. My
future is unpredictable, and my choices will decide my prolonged existence; positive or negative I
must act on them now, or else I will miss the train to my forthcoming. Through the life changing
moments, which led to my admiration for the ones close to me; I have found what identifies me as an
individual. Nonetheless, will it be enough for the rapid pace at which my future emerges?
Life changing, it s a term to identify an event that will forever transform someone, and the life they are
currently living; sounds self explanatory, though it isn t such a simple phrase. Considering the
expression; life changing is watching a friend fight cancer, battling each day not knowing if she will
get better. Moreover, Parents who are combating a recession, struggling to generate money with the
profession they find themselves in; moving from house to house trying to stay joyful to a child who
may not identify the extent of the situation. Trails such as these have caused my life to be significantly
altered. However, these events are only a minor fraction of my narrative. For instance, I ve helped lead
a movement against bullying, being triumphant with the results. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to
represent my school at a World Leadership Conference, being able to express heartache, happiness,
and love to individuals, some who have experienced horrible tragedies, was such an eye opening
experience. These events in my life have erupt a fire in my soul, and striving to build upon each
situation will only be beneficial for my future endeavors.
Reflecting these life changing moments, I come to a realization that not all memories are so
influential, but more of a comforting feeling. My family vacations to Walt Disney World helped bring
imagination and inspiration inside of a young boy s mind. Playing on my childhood play set in our

Fear In Literature Of H. G. Wells And Ray Bradbury
Fear is the driving force behind change. When a human being feels they are in danger, the response is
to protect themselves. Traumas or bad experiences can trigger a fear response within us that is hard to
quell. Yet exposing ourselves to our personal demons is the best way to move past them (Sussex
People, 1). Some people will approach the thrill lifestyle willingly, while others will stay away from it
at all costs. When interpreting literature, it is important to understand what was the cause of the
writing. In most science fiction pieces, the answer is fear.
This same truth is evident in the literary works of two authors who shared similar ideas due to
catastrophes going on in the world around them. H.G. Wells grew up during an industrial advancement
in Europe. This advancement impacted the wars that were going on greatly. Killing was made more
efficient and less personal. This affected the morals of the European society.
H.G. Wells noticed the issue, and addressed them in his writing. Ray Bradbury also grew up in a time
of war. The development of nuclear biological warfare greatly impacted his career. His fear of the end
of the world by technology was the supreme basis of all of his works. By applying a historical lense,
readers can observe that H.G Wells and Ray Bradbury are afraid of modernising technology due to
their fear of bad ethics.
The idea of being invisible has always been in the imaginations of children and regarded as a cool
science. H.G. Wells confronts

Alison Goodman Analysis
WARNING this novel has no cringe worthy romance!
Honestly this was a cover buy, the synopsis sounded well, but who can say no to a cover with a dragon
and a female holding what seems to be kantana s. I m not gonna lie, this book is like your average

The power brings him or her to the ranks of highly honored people. War happens because everyone is
hungry for power, the emperor dies and his handsome son has to save his kingdom and usually
chooses it over the main character, and drama happens with the occasional kiss. Alison Goodman did
just that but better; honestly it was a refreshing twist on the overly done story plot. Although
Goodman used such an overly used story line I was still hooked, shocked, and even surprised! She has

The battle of Waterloo is universally associated with the last stand of Napoleon. It is (for all intents
and purposes) the most significant blow to Napoleons final attempt at a return to power, Napoleons
loss sealed his fate and consequently lost his empire (once and for all). However was it truly Napoleon
s faults that resulted in the loss at Waterloo? Or as many have stated was it more accurately Marshal
Ney s inability to follow Napoleons orders and command his troops in a custom that Napoleon not
only expected but had spent years refining. Before the battle of Waterloo Napoleon ordered 30 000

The problem with people rating others, comes from again a relative standard of the observer. Suppose

(Swanson 5) President Abraham Lincoln had given a 701 word speech. Nearly all were happy except
for John Wilkes Booth, who was furious. He had once plotted to kidnap Lincoln, now he was trying to
murder him. On Good Friday morning, April 14, 1865 ( Swanson 9), at Ford s Theater, Booth had
snuck into the president s box and had shot him with a fatal blow (Swanson 39). As he was escaping
into the country, he had encountered an old friend named Doctor Samuel A. Mudd (Swanson 96), who
had brought him in for hospitality. He had no knowledge of Booth assassinating President Lincoln.
Eventually, Doctor Mudd was sentenced to life in prison for helping John Wilkes Booth. Doctor

Mudd had no knowledge that John Wilkes Booth had assassinated President Lincoln. Stephen
Christianson said, there was little evidence linking him to Booth s crime. Yes, Mudd had once helped

General Thomas E. Ewing, the defence council for Doctor Mudd s trial, had stated, Those who
committed it are shown to have acted for themselves, not as the instruments of Doctor Mudd

receiving the news from soldiers in Bryantown, Mudd knew the the man John Wilkes Booth is the one
who had assassinated President Abraham Lincoln ( Swanson 111). Although he had not betrayed John

provided hospitality for Booth. He should not have been sentenced to life in prison, because he took

Case Study Of Butler s Chocolates
Butler s Chocolates is an Irish, family owned company set up in the year 1932. It was founded by
Marion Butler, a pioneer who began creating her own luxury chocolates by hand in Lad Lane in
Dublin and named it Chez Nous Chocolates . Marion Butler was originally born in India but moved to
Ireland when she was very young where she set up this company and ran it until 1959. She then sold it
to Seamus Sorensen and the Sorensen family are still running this business to date. (About Us: Butlers
Chocolates, n.d.).
The company set up their first retail store in 1960 in the Grafton Arcade and their first Butler s
Chocolate café in 1998 on Wicklow Street in Dublin. The company rebranded in honour of Marion
Butler in 1984 and renamed the company Butlers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

flavour is not selling they could make the decision to discontinue the particular sweet or start again

Transaction Processing Systems
Because Butlers Chocolates own many retail stores and cafes, the company would mainly go by the
point of sale concept which David Ingram describes as the place and time at which a transaction takes
place, whenever a buyer and seller come together for the purpose of conducting a transaction (Ingram,
n.d.). This would include when customers pay for their goods by cash over the counter straight into
cash registers or by card with credit card processors. Ingram explains how this point of sale comes
hand in hand with transaction processing systems (Ingram, n.d.). Butler s website provides customers
with a service where they have the ability to purchase goods online and have them delivered to their
home. This booking system is a real time processing system. When a customer buys a product off the
company online, they receive an email confirming their delivery when their package has been
dispatched and they can also track their order. They claim to make an effort to process

Fortunato Revenge
The act of revenge means to avenge oneself or another by retaliating in kind or degree. Many people
seek revenge for a variety of different reasons. While some situations warrant vengeance, other times
it is unnecessary or goes too far. Every person is not the same, so it varies from person to person what
initiates the desire for revenge. In The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, Fortunato wrongs his
friend Montresor, the protagonist. Although what Fortunato does is unknown, Montresor seeks
extreme revenge. Montresor completely blindsides Fortunato with this pursuit of revenge as Fortunato
does not know he is in the wrong. One perceives by Montresor s actions towards Fortunato that his

When Montresor first meets Fortunato at the carnival, Fortunato is already noticeably tipsy.
Morsberger states, To accomplish it, Montresor waits until carnival season, a time of supreme
madness, when Fortunato, already half drunk and costumed as a jester, is particularly vulnerable (1).
After convincing Fortunato to come back his vault, Montresor does not stop him from drinking.
Montresor continues to encourage Fortunato to drink more as they are walking through the catacombs.
This continues to happen as they approach the vault. Montresor encourages Fortunato by saying, But
first, another draught of the Medoc (Poe 53). Fortunato s drunkenness allows Montresor to manipulate
him easily as he has no indication of what is happening. Without being under the influence, Montresor
knows his task would be much more difficult. By getting him drunk, Montresor is able to get him to
do exactly what he wants. This makes the task of killing him almost effortless for Montresor. When
Fortunato goes to search for the stored wine, Montresor suddenly chains him and traps him to the wall.
In his article, Method to the Madness, Mcgrath explains, As the story unfolds, with growing unease
we begin to understand that it s on account of these slights, and the insult that follows them, that
Fortunato has been condemned, by Montresor, to be bricked up in the dank vaults of a crumbling
palazzo (2). Montresor taunts Fortunato and walls

Introduction After watching the video entitled 24 days in Brooks , it is apparent that if a First Contract

in unsuccessful negotiations to apply to the Labour Board to direct the settlement of a first collective

Hebrew Bible Scriptures
Hebrew Bible Scriptures is proven to be significant and is interpreted in as many ways as there are
numbers. However, according to Gene M. Tucker, Hebrew Scriptures has endorsed a suspicion of
nature. Yet, in my opinion, Genesis 1:28 summarizes the main argument upon this reading assignment
and involves the natural environment of the world according to Hebrew Scripture. Moreover in
addition, Lynn White initiated a modern debate in terms of a 1967 article he wrote The Historical

The debate over the roots of the ecological crisis focused on whether the bible authorized

that humanity stands over the world. Therefore have dominion and subdue particularly when read out

caused it to rain upon the earth and there was no one to till the ground. and goes on to argue that the
role of human beings is to serve the land, turning it into that which can support life, and God s role is

Intellectual Property, Copyright, And Patents
Copyright was incorporated to promote advancement of knowledge and to protect the right of the
inventor, yet the law s interpretation to the present society is doing the exact opposite. Intellectual
Property consists of two systems in protecting your ideas and inventions, copyrights and patents.
Patents are usually used for creators or inventions while copyright is more of expression or ideas like
music, movies, etc. The intellectual property, copyright and patents placed in nowadays are causing a
big issue and are not doing the original laws justice. The first amendment prohibits abridging the
freedom of speech (1st Amendment Bill of Rights). Based on what the first amendment allows us to
do, individual should not be prevented from exercising that right. Intellectual property, copyright and
patents are causing the very problems they were created to prevent. Companies are misusing these
rights for their own economic advancement. Kembrew Mcleod made similar arguments in his piece,
Freedom of Expression: Overzealous Copyright Bozos and Other Enemies of Creativity. There has to
be middle ground within these laws so that issues do not arise.
Points that support this idea occur in the build up of the social networking site called Facebook. Mark
Zuckerberg the current CEO of Facebook was sued by Divya Narenda, Tyler Winklevoss and
Cameron Winklevoss on grounds of breaking the intellectual property clause. Harvard Connection

Boethius Accomplishments
People know Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius as one of the most accomplished men of his time
and beyond. The Roman scholar, poet, orator, musician, and philosopher gave much of his knowledge
to the ancient world in his lifetime. Through his writings and translations, Boethius made important
contributions to the Middle Ages, and gave people a better understanding of ancient times. Boethius
also proved himself to be a gifted man, making him worthy of praise up to today. For these reasons,
many remember the life of Boethius. Born around 475 477 C.E., Boethius grew up with high status in
an unstable Roman Empire. He came from a prestigious line of families, which his full name
indicated. Boethius belonged to the grand patrician family of Anicii, and had several other connections
to important families of the Roman Republic. Because both of Boethius parents died during his

The Global Pursuit Of Economic Development Since The End...
In Global Political Economy, Chapter 11 discusses the global pursuit of economic development since
the end of the Second World War (219). In a nutshell, this analysis involves the account and summary
of some of the information that has been previously presented in earlier chapters of this book. Mainly,
the process of industrialization in Great Britain as well as the United States is noted in the introduction
to the chapter.
Afterwards, the authors proceed to define the term development using quotes and statements from a
few other authors. But, the central idea of development, no matter how the definition may be worded,
takes into account the themes of process and condition, or the change of condition. In addition, when
regarding the immediate era after the war, development relied on economic growth of a country
measured by its Gross National Product (GNP) (221). The Gross National Product, according to
Encyclopedia Britannica, is the total market value of the final goods and services produced by a nation
s economy during a specific period of time (usually a year), computed before allowance is made for
the depreciation or consumption of capital used in the process of production (Encyclopedia
Britannica).
The timeline of development for countries worldwide after WWII is then clarified. Many nations were
considered underdeveloped , backward , or most commonly Third World . Eventually, countries in the
southern hemisphere became known as the Global South , identifying

Contributions to America Essay
Contributions to America Early American society was comprised of many different elements. The
biggest contributions to the society was the American Indians,
Africans, and, of course, the English, the biggest of the three. Their relationship together was far
different than what we have today. You wouldn t just see some African and view him as just another
American. It also didn t have a triangular connection, where everyone interacted in some way with
everyone else. Instead it was more along the lines of the Africans relationship with the English, and
the Indians relationship with the English, not the Africans and Indians relationship together. To take a
closer look at this we need to first look at each people separately. Native Americans ... Show more

They were both hierarchical, but they their nature differed considerably. The English s hierarchy was
inherited through their father. But the authority of the some of the Indian leaders rested on consensus.
So when the English tried to negotiate treaties,
they overestimated to ability of chiefs to make independent decisions for their people. They also had
different views on the holdings of land. The Indian believed that know one owned the land, it was just
for everyone to work on. The English, however, was the exact opposite.
They insisted on having their own farms, and buying and selling land. Basically, above all, the English
settlers believed unwaveringly in the superiority of their civilization.
Because of this belief of superiority, the English settlers felt that they could do anything they wanted
to the land or the inferior Indians on it. They expanded and expanded to the point that the Indians felt
in danger. Because of this they would occasionally fight back. Opechancanough, a tribal and war
leader, launched several coordinated attacks on the settlers. By the end of the day, about one quarter,

encroachment of the

The 1936 short story Snows of Kilimanjaro is one of the most famous fictional works of Ernest
Hemingway and the title short story for his 1961 collection The Snows of Kilimanjaro and Other
Stories. He depicts many themes throughout his story including love and war. Love is reflected as an
anathema to a fruitful romantic relationship with relationships based on lies flourishing as the ones
based on love collapse. Further, war is shown as a vain slaughter of men, led by incompetence and
causing great suffering for nothing (Hemingway). A contemporary reader can however not fail to

In her 1895 novel The Sorrows of Satan, Marie Corelli presents a character who is eerily similar to
Harry. The character is an author called Geoffrey, a very talented writer who does not have money to

disappears and he finds himself unable to even make mediocre literary work (McElrath Robert 77).
Similarly, Harry the main character herein is born in a very poor part of Paris and grows up in poverty
and misery. He is a very talented writer who gains fame, but not a fortune from writing. His fame,
however, enables to meet and fall in love with a wealthy woman, and a wealthier one after that. His
marriages and relationships are all based on real love and almost on cue keep ending, but he keeps on
getting wealthier with every subsequent relationship (Hemingway). However, the moment Harry
became wealthy by his marriages and relationships, his writing creativity was completely eroded.
Although he had so much to write about, he could not bring himself to write at all. This either creates
the impression that being a good author requires so much effort that one must be desperate to achieve
it. It can however, also be argued that there are no talented authors, just individuals who need enough
money to try hard enough (McElrath Robert,

Cultural Industries (sometimes also known as creative industries ) combine the creation, production,

(Lawrence and Philip 2002). David Beckham currently has his own Police sunglasses that people buy
as they are associated with him. For marketers this seems appropriate to their beliefs that with the
correct marketing mix a meaning can be put across to the target market that will increase sales. This
argument tries to get across that creative industries are not just restricted to film industry, fashion or
theatre. This approach does also have its critics though, Thompson et al (2007) says that even if these
products are sold through direct or indirect interpretations it fails to recognize these products still need
to be produced. Take for example the Adidas running shoe that came back as a premium priced retro
shoe that is now fashionable. However it does not appreciate that the product still had to be made by
real workers in real factories, they still need traditional skill sets and employment structures. People at
Adidas did have the creative freedom to think of the new retro comeback but this is a very small part
of the company. So yes creative economies are expanding but not at a fast enough rate to be a leading
economy in any way.
So it is clear that we do not have a significant cultural economy as a product needs to be

Romeo s assumption that he can do little to change the course of his life and his commitment to death
is continually discussed throughout the literary criticism, Romeo and Death , written by Marilyn L.
Williamson. After the murder of Tybalt, Romeo s anomalous reaction to his banishment entails that he
is meant for an early death; for example, Williamson portrays, After killing Tybalt his attitude
intensifies, and he becomes active in his pursuit of death, first verbally and then in deed. When the
Prince banishes Romeo, Shakespeare makes clear that the youth s reaction of calling banishment death

The Global Epidemic Of Elder Abuse Essay
Evidence suggests that one in 10 older adults experiences some form of elder abuse, but only one in
25 cases is reported to social services agencies (Dong, 2012, p. 2151). Elder mistreatment can occur in
a variety of settings including domestic and assisted living. Elder abuse includes psychological,
physical, and sexual abuse; neglect to include both caregiver and self neglect; and financial
exploitation. With the vast explosion of the aging population in today s society elder abuse can no
longer loom in the shadows.
Literature Review After many years, the global epidemic of elder abuse is beginning to receive the
public attention it desperately needs. Forty years after child abuse and domestic violence first entered
mainstream of the publics eye, elder abuse, which attacks all demographic, geographic, and economic
populations on earth is finally making headway. Studies have shown that elder abuse is severely
underreported with about 10% of all elderly being subjected to some form of abuse and an estimated
less than half of these cases ever get reported (B. J., Holroyd Leduc, 2012). The American dreams
includes that we believe in the right to live free of abuse, neglect and exploitation and violence

The Main Features Of A Bureaucracy And The Scientific...
King and Lawley (2013, p.601) stated that rationalisation can be defined as increasing the efficiency
and reducing costs within a business, this idea incorporates the aspects of a bureaucracy and the
scientific design of work). Within a rational organisation, bureaucracies are created through the
implementation of policies and procedures which makes the organisation standardised, predictable and
efficient. Organisations such as Junction hotel might consider adopting the key features of
rationalisation, for example within a bureaucracy a hierarchy is created, this shows clear lines of
communication within departments. King and Lawley (2013) show that within Junction hotel the
organisational structure lacks span of control as Linda Wilkinson is in charge of 34 employees This
was improved by making the span of control more manageable by delegating control through
management, different departments can be created, within each department there is a head employee
who was in charge of more staff. As an organisation grows, the number of employee s increases,
therefore Fayols five functions of management are implemented through impersonal control rather
than direct face to face control. In contrast to rationalisation, King and Lawley (2013) describe the
social organisation as a belief that the key factors in shaping an individual within the workplace are
the social interactions between people. King and Lawley (2013) state that the findings from

  • 2. Relationship Between Greed And Grievance What is the relationship between greed and grievance as motivating factors in violent conflict? Use at least one case study to illustrate your argument The greed and grievances theory provides opposing arguments as to what really are the causes for violent conflict. Scholars have conducted numerous researches on a number of violent conflicts in attempt to analyze to what extent greed or grievances appear to be motivating factors for violent conflicts such as civil wars etc. Those who believe in the greed model trust that rebels draw out a cost and benefit analysis and resort to arms if they greatly believe that violent conflict will improve their situations economically. Supporters of the grievance model on the other hand believe that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will analyze the relationship between greed and grievances and the role they played in Sierra Leone s civil war. I will argue also that violent conflicts do not always fall into either greed or grievances perfectly and in most cases they go hand in hand. However in the case of Sierra Leone, although legitimate grievances were evident, greed had a greater impact on sustaining the outbreak of the conflict. Greed and grievances are found to be two of the most crucial causes of most violent conflicts as well as the driving forces of mass rebellion. In the case of Sierra Leone, a war that went on from 1991 to 2002 killing about 50,000 people and displacing almost two thirds of the total population is a great example of a violent conflict that fits both the greed and grievance based explanation. At the time, Sierra Leon was a country based on a one party system and dominated by the APC also known as the All people s congress . During the APC regime there was great misuse of political power for the parties personal gain. There appeared to be great decline of total output, neglect of agriculture, increase in unemployment, deterioration and neglect of agriculture, increase in unemployment (Naguib, 2015). Although the president at the time made major reforms that pushed for a more democratic state, that guaranteed basic human rights, he did not keep his promising allowing the APC to continue in ... • 3. Gossip Girl Essay I began to watch the first episode of Gossip Girl, I have never watched the series before and after hearing about the blog I decided it would be a good time. An overview of what Gossip Girl is about is that it is a fictional television show that explores the lives of people living amongst the elites in society in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Throughout the show, there are various characters and scenarios that discuss the problems of the characters, who are not elites and are engulfed into a society that they are not welcomed in. In the first season, they introduce the character of the teenagers who have grown up in extremely wealthy backgrounds, such as Blair Waldorf, Nate Archibald, Chuck Bass, and Serena van der Woodsen. They were born with heritage and attended the best Upper East Side s private school, Constance in New York City. But with these teenagers who have a great status and life, there is the lower class of the characters in Gossip Girl, which is the Humphrey family. Dan and Jenny Humphrey s dad, Rufus is an old forgotten band artist, who now owns an art gallery, they live in a loft in Brooklyn. They don t have a lot of wealth, but they still have enough money to send Dan and Jenny to the same private school are Serena, Blair, Nate, and Chuck who are all Upper East Side kids. Seeing that the lower class still have enough to be able to support and go to a private school shows they are in relative poverty, for they lack the resources that the Upper East Side ... • 4. FDR The First Hundred Days Essay FDR The First Hundred Days One of the most traumatic situations this country has ever experienced was the Great Depression. It was an extraordinary event for the people of this country because , unlike the previous events such as wars this country has experienced, it directly affected whole families, including women and children. Many families were living in conditions similar to what we see in third world countries today. These extraordinary times required an extraordinary leader. Franklin D. Roosevelt was such a leader. While his New Deal policies were not the sole solution to the multitude of problems that this country faced, the first hundred days of his administration set in place the foundation that ultimately restored the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During his campaign, however, it was hard to tell exactly what Roosevelt s New Deal policy was. He lashed out against the Hoover administration for high tariff policies, but by the end of the campaign, no real difference separated the candidates on the tariff issue. In his speeches he said he would increase aid to the unemployed, but he would slash federal spending (Leuchtenburg 10). One of the New Deal administrators reflected subsequently: Given later developments, the campaign speeches often read like a giant misprint, in which Roosevelt and Hoover speak each other s lines (qtd. in Leuchtenburg 11). However, Hoover s handling of the economic crisis and many other issues virtually assured Roosevelt of the Presidency. In his inaugural speech, Roosevelt said This nation asks for action, and action now.... We must act and act quickly (qtd. in Schlesinger 1). This address was also where his famous quote The only thing we have to fear is fear itself was uttered (qtd. in Freidel 93) The first part of the New Deal happened in the first three months of his presidency, which became know as the hundred days. The first objective of the new administration was to get the banks on a more firm footing. On his very first night in office, Roosevelt directed his Secretary of the Treasury to draft an emergency banking bill, and gave him only five days to get it ready. On March fifth he proclaimed a national bank holiday to close the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Treadwell Film Techniques Initially the film presents as a cinematic memorial to Treadwell even going so far as the places name and date of birth and death on the lower third of the screen which acts like a gravestone in the opening shot of the movie. This commeration continues throught the film but as with other aspects of Treadwell s personality Herzog works to complicate and at times undermine Treadwell s approach to the natural world he achives this a number of different ways but primarily uses juxtaposition between interviews with professionals and Tredwells personal footage for instance in this scene Herzog deftly places a piece of radio from the curator of the boutique museum over Tredweells footage if I look at it from my culture Timothy across the boundary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hertog also asserts the cold brutality of natural by revealing the brutal circumstances of Timothy Treadwell s death early on the film. Craftly editing the chronology Trewells life to aid Herzogs own vision of a chaotic nature. In a typical narrative art the death of protagonist generally comes at the climax but because Herzog reveals that Treadwell was eaten by the very same bears he sought to protect in the exposition of the movie we struggled to empathize with the loved Treadwill felt for the animals of the Alaskan wilderness even further we find it hard to believe Treadwells work and vision because know of his eventual demise and brtuality the grizzly bears are capable of. So we se an expertly framed shot of Treadwell in the foreground and a group of bears in the background. You cant help lose trust in his mission instead look towards Herzog s constant narration for guidance in short gizzly man proposes to be about Treadwells life and passion but if we dig a little deeper into the narrative structure and consistent authorial narration we can see that Herzog is guiding us to believe in his own cynical vision of wild ... • 6. Church History Chapter 4 For the same Church Through reading the chapter 4 of the book Church History , written by Kevin Hughes, I find the connection between the Luther s Conflict with Catholic opponents and the definition of the Church. In other words, although the traditional Catholic theologians and Luther have different views about the if a human could follow Gospel perfectly, they were still a unity that gathered by God to form the Church, and both of them were doing their best to teach the Holy Spirit of God to other citizens. Arguing the sense of human sinfulness, Christians could better ways to bring Jesus Holy and love to others. Moreover, the deeper understanding of sins could save from people from the suffering of further sins. For example, between 1517 and 1520, Luther wrote thirty works about his theology ideas and sold more than 300,000 copies total. It gives many people a completely new view about human sins. Sins of human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, when people deeply understand the righteousness of God, they would find that it is impossible for human beings to keep themselves completely away from the sins, even the pope and saints would make mistakes. However, the Church did help people to make connection with the Holy Spirit and prevent the further sins. • 7. David B. Truman Lobby Groups Essay Lobby Groups In this comparison between David B. Truman and V.O. Key, Jr. s views on lobby groups they have different interpretations on role and interaction of these groups in government. In a democratic system there is bound to be resentment and desire for change because it is impossible to satisfy everybody. Truman and Key describe how those individuals try to be recognized while forming groups for strength in numbers . In the comparison of interest and pressure groups it is apparent that although they created resentment in the inner layers of government, they were necessary to the development and progress of the political system. Truman states that the National Government and the State Legislatures take notice when the interest groups consolidate and tend to accept compromises over common goals. When they are verified of an increasing amount of support for a particular policy or deceit against it, they usually take action. In this manner, the interest groups are beneficial to the government because their opinions were created by an individual and therefore they give the government a greater ability to facilitate the lifestyle of their citizens. The interest groups can be very misleading in their size because of their pressure to convert and convince impressionable people. Truman believes that the formation of interest groups and political parties was inevitable because we offered elections as a means of representation and also in a large, complex, diverse society there will always be people who are longing for change. From this section of Truman s work it shows that lobby groups were helpful in modifying the National Government to perform at a more responsive level. The Government could not have survived based solely on the impact of interest groups. They survived and thrived for power in a symbiotic relationship benefiting both groups. Even if the political parties are added to the list, the result could properly be designated as a view which seems hardly compatible with the relative stability of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Work Opportunity Tax Credit Essay The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is an incentive that is profitable for companies using it and helpful for the jobseekers that qualify for the tax credit. At the same time, it can also be a bad incentive because companies that use the tax credits will try to target only those specific jobseekers and will disqualify any other person. I work for a company that specializes in government tax incentives, mainly with WOTC because it is the most popular throughout the states, but there are many more similar to it. This tax credit allows companies and agencies to save money on their taxes when they hire employees from nine specific groups such as long term family assistance recipients, ex felons, qualified recipients of Supplemental Security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To fix this issue of having companies solely hiring those that fit in the targeted groups, the program should make a maximum amount of tax credits per company depending on the size of the company. For example, for every 50 new employees, the maximum to qualify for the tax credit should be 25 30, allowing the rest of the jobseekers to be considered. Another way to improve the tax credit program and eliminating any issues, is by not focusing on the WOTC questionnaires the agencies give to potential jobseekers. The Human Resource department should look at qualifying individuals based on skill and knowledge. After that phase, they can see who qualify for the targeted groups, allowing a fair chance from the beginning. My approaches will help companies have an equally biased hiring process and not having them take advantage of receiving tax credits through this incentive. The tax credit was created for those that have difficulty getting hired, so by using my approach it will allow for those that don t fit in the targeted groups as well. If companies were required to have a maximum per company, they will be forced to hire an equal amount of diversified employees and preventing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These selected works illustrate my professional development gained from this educational experience. Seeking out professional development opportunities is critical for athletic coaches and administrators because every sports program, regardless of the age or skill level, should have a qualified coach lead it. In fact, many would argue there are a moral and a legal obligation to have qualified coaches at all levels. There is a legal obligation because unqualified coaches are more likely to teach improper skills and techniques, which puts athletes at risk for injuries. • 16. Fear In Literature Of H. G. Wells And Ray Bradbury Fear is the driving force behind change. When a human being feels they are in danger, the response is to protect themselves. Traumas or bad experiences can trigger a fear response within us that is hard to quell. Yet exposing ourselves to our personal demons is the best way to move past them (Sussex People, 1). Some people will approach the thrill lifestyle willingly, while others will stay away from it at all costs. When interpreting literature, it is important to understand what was the cause of the writing. In most science fiction pieces, the answer is fear. This same truth is evident in the literary works of two authors who shared similar ideas due to catastrophes going on in the world around them. H.G. Wells grew up during an industrial advancement in Europe. This advancement impacted the wars that were going on greatly. Killing was made more efficient and less personal. This affected the morals of the European society. H.G. Wells noticed the issue, and addressed them in his writing. Ray Bradbury also grew up in a time of war. The development of nuclear biological warfare greatly impacted his career. His fear of the end of the world by technology was the supreme basis of all of his works. Nevertheless, Theodore Heibert explores the Yahwist understanding of the environment and informs us that the major key to the interpretation of Yahwist is Genesis 2:5b For the Lord had not caused it to rain upon the earth and there was no one to till the ground. and goes on to argue that the role of human beings is to serve the land, turning it into that which can support life, and God s role is to provide the rain. • 27. Intellectual Property, Copyright, And Patents Copyright was incorporated to promote advancement of knowledge and to protect the right of the inventor, yet the law s interpretation to the present society is doing the exact opposite. Intellectual Property consists of two systems in protecting your ideas and inventions, copyrights and patents. Patents are usually used for creators or inventions while copyright is more of expression or ideas like music, movies, etc. The intellectual property, copyright and patents placed in nowadays are causing a big issue and are not doing the original laws justice. The first amendment prohibits abridging the freedom of speech (1st Amendment Bill of Rights). Based on what the first amendment allows us to do, individual should not be prevented from exercising that right. Intellectual property, copyright and patents are causing the very problems they were created to prevent. Companies are misusing these rights for their own economic advancement. Kembrew Mcleod made similar arguments in his piece, Freedom of Expression: Overzealous Copyright Bozos and Other Enemies of Creativity. There has to be middle ground within these laws so that issues do not arise. Points that support this idea occur in the build up of the social networking site called Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg the current CEO of Facebook was sued by Divya Narenda, Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss on grounds of breaking the intellectual property clause. • 29. The Global Pursuit Of Economic Development Since The End... In Global Political Economy, Chapter 11 discusses the global pursuit of economic development since the end of the Second World War (219). In a nutshell, this analysis involves the account and summary of some of the information that has been previously presented in earlier chapters of this book. Mainly, the process of industrialization in Great Britain as well as the United States is noted in the introduction to the chapter. Afterwards, the authors proceed to define the term development using quotes and statements from a few other authors. But, the central idea of development, no matter how the definition may be worded, takes into account the themes of process and condition, or the change of condition. In addition, when regarding the immediate era after the war, development relied on economic growth of a country measured by its Gross National Product (GNP) (221). The Gross National Product, according to Encyclopedia Britannica, is the total market value of the final goods and services produced by a nation s economy during a specific period of time (usually a year), computed before allowance is made for the depreciation or consumption of capital used in the process of production (Encyclopedia Britannica). The timeline of development for countries worldwide after WWII is then clarified. Many nations were considered underdeveloped , backward , or most commonly Third World . The biggest contributions to the society was the American Indians, Africans, and, of course, the English, the biggest of the three. Their relationship together was far different than what we have today. You wouldn t just see some African and view him as just another American. It also didn t have a triangular connection, where everyone interacted in some way with everyone else. Instead it was more along the lines of the Africans relationship with the English, and the Indians relationship with the English, not the Africans and Indians relationship together. To take a closer look at this we need to first look at each people separately. Native Americans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Indian believed that know one owned the land, it was just for everyone to work on. The English, however, was the exact opposite. They insisted on having their own farms, and buying and selling land. Basically, above all, the English settlers believed unwaveringly in the superiority of their civilization. Because of this belief of superiority, the English settlers felt that they could do anything they wanted to the land or the inferior Indians on it. They expanded and expanded to the point that the Indians felt in danger. Because of this they would occasionally fight back. Opechancanough, a tribal and war leader, launched several coordinated attacks on the settlers. By the end of the day, about one quarter, or 347, lay dead. He depicts many themes throughout his story including love and war. Love is reflected as an anathema to a fruitful romantic relationship with relationships based on lies flourishing as the ones based on love collapse. Further, war is shown as a vain slaughter of men, led by incompetence and causing great suffering for nothing (Hemingway). The character is an author called Geoffrey, a very talented writer who does not have money to publish. Similarly, Harry the main character herein is born in a very poor part of Paris and grows up in poverty and misery. He is a very talented writer who gains fame, but not a fortune from writing. His fame, however, enables to meet and fall in love with a wealthy woman, and a wealthier one after that. His marriages and relationships are all based on real love and almost on cue keep ending, but he keeps on getting wealthier with every subsequent relationship (Hemingway). However, the moment Harry became wealthy by his marriages and relationships, his writing creativity was completely eroded. Although he had so much to write about, he could not bring himself to write at all. This either creates the impression that being a good author requires so much effort that one must be desperate to achieve it. It can however, also be argued that there are no talented authors, just individuals who need enough money to try hard enough (McElrath Robert, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For marketers this seems appropriate to their beliefs that with the correct marketing mix a meaning can be put across to the target market that will increase sales. This argument tries to get across that creative industries are not just restricted to film industry, fashion or theatre. This approach does also have its critics though, Thompson et al (2007) says that even if these products are sold through direct or indirect interpretations it fails to recognize these products still need to be produced. Take for example the Adidas running shoe that came back as a premium priced retro shoe that is now fashionable. However it does not appreciate that the product still had to be made by real workers in real factories, they still need traditional skill sets and employment structures. People at Adidas did have the creative freedom to think of the new retro comeback but this is a very small part of the company. Towards the beginning of the week, being labeled as different made me not want to talk. I stayed quiet for most of the week when I was in a small group. King and Lawley (2013, p.601) stated that rationalisation can be defined as increasing the efficiency and reducing costs within a business, this idea incorporates the aspects of a bureaucracy and the scientific design of work). Within a rational organisation, bureaucracies are created through the implementation of policies and procedures which makes the organisation standardised, predictable and efficient. Organisations such as Junction hotel might consider adopting the key features of rationalisation, for example within a bureaucracy a hierarchy is created, this shows clear lines of communication within departments. King and Lawley (2013) show that within Junction hotel the organisational structure lacks span of control as Linda Wilkinson is in charge of 34 employees This was improved by making the span of control more manageable by delegating control through management, different departments can be created, within each department there is a head employee who was in charge of more staff. As an organisation grows, the number of employee s increases, therefore Fayols five functions of management are implemented through impersonal control rather than direct face to face control.
