Analysis Of Yahweh Summons Moses
In the two versions of the story Yahweh summons Moses , the bulk of the story remains constant. In
both iterations, Moses is called by Yahweh to speak to Pharaoh on behalf of the enslaved Israelites.
However, there are many key differences in tone and character development that distinguish the two
stories. In the JE version, the text starts with an angel of the Lord appearing to Moses from within a
burning bush. This imagery is noticeable absent from the P version of the text. This reflects the
priestly interests in the P iteration because in P stories, only priests are able to act as intermediates
between man and the divine. Thus, the fantastical image of the burning bush in JE is eschewed.
Instead, the P version shows the Lod communicating directly with Moses. The next major difference
between the sources is in the substance of the Lord s initial message to Moses. In the JE source, the
focus is on rescuing the Israelites from Egypt to bring them to a land flowing with milk and honey
(Exodus 3:8). In contrast, the P source depicts the Lord rescuing his people and [redeeming them] with
an outstretched arm and with tremendous judgements (Exodus 6:6). In the JE source, the Lord is
depicted as a more merciful and human Lord who delivers the people into a great land. In the P
source, the Lord is characterized as detached. The narrative greatly emphasizes the Lord s divine
power. Additionally, the P source repeats the phrase I am YHWH which further stresses the cosmic

Hamlet Strengths And Weaknesses
Strength is essential to overcome obstacles, however people in similar circumstances may have
disparate decisions, leading to various outcomes and consequences. In spite of all challenges,
discouragements and impossibilities; strength distinguishes a strong soul from a weak one. Through
the literatures of William Shakespeare, Miriam Toews and Lawrence Hill, it is evident that ethics and
morality play an important role in affecting decisions of the main characters. Assuredly, Hamlet,
Naomi and Aminata, participate in situations where their courage is tested to its fullest, impacting their
fate; for the better and for the worse. Despite bearing cultural and periodic differences, Hamlet by
William Shakespeare, A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews and The Book of Negroes by
Lawrence Hill all demonstrate judgements that enrich and destroy the lives of the protagonists and of
those around them. Firstly, Hamlet in Hamlet shows dreadful judgement by consuming himself in
revengeance, resulting in his own downfall. Hamlet becomes obsessed with avenging his uncle, King
Claudius for murdering his father, King Hamlet. As a result of this, corruption takes hold of Hamlet s
life, in which it becomes full of hatred, reprisal and bloodlust. Hamlet questions himself of which act
is more noble. Is it more noble to suffer from the wrong deeds that one has done onto another or if it is
more noble to end the suffering by fighting? In this soliloquy, it is clear that Hamlet is torn between

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight, By Emily Dickinson
Death is the concern in of both Dylan Thomas Do Not Go Gentle into That Goodnight, and Emily
Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for Death . Moreover, while these two poets use similar themes
in their works, the execution and tone of their respective pieces could not be more antithetical. More
to the point, Thomas poem paints death and oblivion as something deserving of fear and dread, and
even though dying is an immutable fact in our world, man will always feel the need to have, Rage,
Rage against the dying of the light . However, Dickinson does not let the fear of death consume her, so
much so, that in her poem she embraces death as nothing less than a gentleman, who in her own words
kindly stopped for me . At the end of it all, Dylan Thomas poem is a loud boisterous proclamation
about the desperation of man to hold on to life and to leave something behind but ultimately realizing
they cannot, while Dickinson s is a quiet reflection about the cyclical nature of life and death and the
peace the end brings. Dylan Thomas aforementioned poem is about battling against the rising tide,
while still knowing there truly is no stopping it. More to the point, the author is conveying that man
will always fight against the ire of death and in the interim, try to avert it, but in the long term, hope
that something in their legacy leaves a worthwhile impact. Fight against the dying of the light, is a call
to action; every person will fight to hold on to this life

Heathers Essay
The movie that I have chosen is a classic film from 1988 called Heathers. Heathers is an American
cult black comedy film written by Daniel Waters and directed by Michael Lehmann. The film portrays
four teenage girls three of whom are named Heather in a clique and a teen named Veronica Sawyer
who desperately wants to fit in, as well as a crazy and unstable boy named J.D that plans to ruin it all.
The focus of this essay will be on three characters. Analyzing their internal and external battles, as
well as their social interactions with loved ones and other members of their fictional society. To begin,
I will focus on Veronica Sawyer. Out of the entire movie Veronica has the most stable family. Born as
an only child, her mom and dad were active and involved parents. Veronica attended an Ohio high
school where she met the heathers . The heathers were three extremely popular teens that ran the
school and Veronica wanted nothing more than to be like them. The looking glass self has a very
prominent role in regards to Veronica. She viewed herself as less because she was not as popular or
liked as the Heathers. One night after being harassed by the Heathers at a party, Veronica and J.D (a
boy she began seeing) went to Heather Chandler s house with hopes to be accepted by her. After
Heather had embarrassed Veronica in front of J.D Heather asks for a drink. While Veronica was not
looking J.D poured laundry detergent into the cup thus killing Heather Chandler. As she died

Gender And Misrepresentation In Sports And Media
Gender representation and in particular misrepresentation is a key issue within sport and media today
as female coverage of sport is overlooked in all forms of mainstream media. This issue is what we, as
a group of 3, had to tackle and present to our academic peers in a student led seminar session. The
issue derives from the main theme of sport and media and their relationship but could also be said to
have direct links to other themes such as sport and (in) equality. Gender representation comes under
both media and equality in terms of broader topics because it is the concern of the media to help
broadcast more female sport and raise awareness of the inequality which exists to the wide audience it
has to target, this doesn t happen enough currently. Research by Cooky et al. (2013) suggests that
female sports coverage on ESPN sport takes up around 3% of coverage time which is a shocking
disparity compared to men s coverage on the same channel. It also found that 0 news stories on
WNBA were published out of season across multiple news channels while the NBA had 72 stories.
Studying this topic is particularly important to understand historically and culturally why this problem
exists as well as to look at the negative ideologies which exist within sports media around the subject
of gender representation. One of the key sociological ideas which we introduced to our class mates
during the seminar was the concept of gender ideology, masculinity and how this impacts

The Social Work Profession
In the social work profession, the primary goal is to aid and empower individuals or families who are
faced with oppression, vulnerable in society, and living in poverty (Code of Ethics, 2008). Social
workers strive to improve the welfare of those who need assistance meeting their daily basic essentials
for survival. According to Abraham Maslow s Hierarchy of Basic needs, a person requires five clusters
to make them an integrated and self motivated whole in society. The five clusters include:
physiological needs; security needs; social needs; self esteem needs; and self actualizing needs
(Aanstoos, 2014). The Code of Ethics is an important component that ensures that the profession is
held to its highest standard and to protect the community. In this paper, the intern was placed at the
Mobile County Department of Human Resources in the Adult Protective Services department and will
be disclosing information about a particular case during their internship. To protect the clients and all
parties associated confidentially within this case, material that could reveal their identity will not be
discussed and only relevant information about the case will be addressed. The clients in this case have
been both diagnosed with agoraphobia with panic disorder. According to the Social Work Dictionary
(2014) agoraphobia is described as an irrational and persistent fear of being in unfamiliar places or of
leaving one s home (Baker, p. 13). Agoraphobia with panic disorder is a difficult

Then you have management employees like myself that are forced to accept changes with nothing we
can do about it, which has brought about a sense of unfairness. The feeling of unfairness has led to
people not putting their all into their jobs creating a very laid back and non sense of emergency
attitude in certain groups and areas of the company. In areas like the control center employees have no
choice but to be alert, responsive and vigilant seeing as people s lives are at risk if they fail to do their
job properly. The corporate offices where a lot the IT, administrative, finances departments etc. are
where I feel the employees to be slack. This type of attitude I believe is slowing down productivity
across the board and a lot of things seem to be delayed.
Problem statement
I think the majority of employees at ConEd are dissatisfied with their jobs and the organization s
leadership. This is leading to low levels of performance which in turn is also making the organization
very laid back and not fulfilling enough for employees that are really trying to get ahead and be
rewarded for their efforts. Union workers who have contracts in place, have people fighting for them

Quinceaner Culture, Culture And Traditions In American...
Coming of age birthdays exist throughout many cultures and have evolved in different ways
depending on the region or religion they came from. Besides the traditional American sweet 16 , there
are other very popular traditions that are diversified by culture, religion, and by the day it takes place.
Americans celebrate many of these different cultural birthdays because anyone who lives in the US
has the right to practice any religion they see fit. Most birthdays have very similar features such as
giving gifts to the man and, or woman of honor. There are also many differences in these traditions,
some of which are considerably more family based than others, such as the Quinceanera .
A Quinceanera is a Catholic, Hispanic, celebration for when a Hispanic girl turns 15. The 15 year old
receives a special birthday that represents them transforming from a girl into a woman. This tradition
was brought to Mexico by Spanish conquerors and has remained a tradition of South America and
Mexico ever since. It is only practiced in Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central, South, and North American
cultures. It is a very formal event; so formal in fact that most of the celebration is treated like a
wedding. It is so wedding like that most Quinceanera parties gets three layered wedding cakes for this
non wedding tradition. The celebration always has pink and white being the main colors of it. as both

People of 38.78725 and Instances of Crime Per Capita of 405.49407343908115. Also according to the
2013 Uniform Crime Reports (n.d.) website, the city of Anaheim has a population of 345,320 and had
1,412 burglaries reported to the police. Making the rate total Groups of 100,000 people of 3.4532 and
instances of Crime Per Capita of 408.8960963743774. The area of Anaheim in compare with Los
Angeles has 3.4020229352963 more Crime Per Capita. Even though Anaheim has approximately 10
times less the population it has a bit more of Crime Per Capita. There are many factors that might
explain the differences in the rates for example unemployment, the relationship between the
community and the police departments, and possibly the ratio between social classes of high class,
middle classes and low classes. Also any political agendas, or even laws could affect the social
economical differences between metropolitan cities, disregarding the size of the population.
Conclusion

United States. These Crime Statistics are produced from data received from over 18,000 city,

Anglo Saxon Exile Essay
During the time of the Anglo Saxon s there were many things that would cause a person stress, such as
protecting their kingdom, earning honor, and living in a Godly way, but the thing that caused the most
panic was the thought of exile. Exile was the force or chosen movement of a person out of their
kingdom and away from their family. The Anglo Saxon s were so concerned with the idea of exile,
they added it into many of their lyric poems like The Seafarer, The Wanderer, and The Wife s Lament
to show the consequences of being forced to leave their home. The poem s would bring fear to the
Anglo Saxon s and showed them the correct way to live and behave within their communities. The

Exile could only be the result of two different causes, chosen by themselves or forced by their people.
Chosen exile would deal with the Anglo Saxon s who wanted to leave their homes for many months in
search of treasure or a new home. The main character in The Seafarer, shows this form of exile with
his yearning and decision return to the sea every year to look for treasure in far away lands rather than
staying at home and living with his tribe. Also, a minor character, the wife s husband, in The Wife s
Lament shows this form of exile when he willingly leaves his wife at home to go in search of
something more at sea. Forced exile was for the Anglo Saxon s who had broken a tribe rule or had no
tribe left to be with. The main character in The Wife s Lament was forced to leave her home by her
lord, husband, when he returned home from sea and found her living with another man in his absence.
Another example, would be the main character in The Wanderer, who was forced to travel and live
alone on the sea after all the members of his tribe had died and he had nowhere to go or no kinsmen to

Competitive Alternatives Survey
A company involved in manufacturing medical devices decides to begin sourcing components
internationally. As for now, it operates in the United States and Germany only. So, senior management
should assess the relative manufacturing costs worldwide to choose where to source. This decision
will be made based on manufacturing costs.
Cities with the Lowest and Highest Manufacturing Costs
The latest Competitive Alternatives survey was published by KPMG in 2016. It is the comparison of
more than 100 cities in 10 countries all over the globe. The key finding of the report is that Mexico
has the highest relative cost advantage if compared to the United States, and Japan has the lowest
(KPMG, 2016). However, the area of interest of this investigation is to determine three cities with the
highest and the lowest manufacturing costs for the company s specific industry medical devices
manufacturing.
The 2016 report specifies that Monterrey and Mexico City in Mexico offer the lowest prices if taking
into consideration facility cost (factory rent). The same is true about utility (electricity and natural
gas), labor (salaries, statutory plans, etc.), and transportation (surface and air fright) costs. In general,
Mexico is an attractive destination for sourcing because manufacturing costs are almost 22 percent
lower than in the United States (Medical devices, 2016). The second cheapest country is Canada. In

Art can have several meanings which complicate this claim. Art can be considered work that is
produced by human creative skill and imagination . This definition of art does not fit with what the
passage is trying to achieve. Therefore it is likely that in this context, the author is referring to art as a
skill at doing a specified thing, typically one acquired through practice.
Main Argument and Synopsis
Astrology should be taken more seriously. There are five key reasons that outline the truth of
astrology. First, astrology has been used for over six thousand years and was historically considered to
be more accurate than medical professionals. Several scientific studies have been conducted to support
astrological findings. Several yearly predictions that were made astrologically have been known to
come true with a high success rate. Additionally, astrologers use a twelve sign system to analyze
individual personality traits, one study on these predictions held a 96% accuracy rate. Lastly, some
psychologists today have taken to using astrology as a diagnosis tool and to treat their clients. These
clients responded positively to their treatment.
Main conclusion: A great deal of evidence points to the truth of astrology

Christopher Innes The Historical Avant-Garde
The Historical Avant Garde expressed new ways of art and reformed the traditional sense of art.
Christopher Innes used three words that described the Avant Garde: populism, primitivism, and
philosophy. These components can be seen in the figures 1 3 that help define some known movements
of the Avant Garde. The movements that are particularly focused in these figures is Dada,
Expressionism, and Surrealism. Each image displays an aesthetic characteristic of the Avant Garde, as
well as defining what the movements stood for. In addition, the visual imagery of these figures
illustrates a new method of art, in attempt to create a better art. To begin, the Avant Garde opposed the

Primitivism held a contrast to western forms, and one of the non western forms that was seen was
spirituality. Not only this but in Murder: The Women s Hope, the characters are dressed in savage
appearance, which is not usually the typical attire in a traditional bourgeoisie play (Kokoschka 220).
This can also be seen in Figure 3, and it would explain why the women s breasts are exposed and why
the man is not wearing a shirt as well. This perspective is one of the elements of the Avant Garde, as it
is something considered new as well as going against the anti establishment of the traditional theatre.
Furthermore, the Avant Garde opposed mainstream theatre, and many of the Avant Garde movements
went against theatre. This was done by having using more interaction with their audience, creating
cultural changes, and holding more physical

Sandra Day O Connor
Throughout history many U.S. Supreme Court Justices have served for numerous years on the
Supreme court making final decisions on diverse cases that have created long lasting impacts. The
current supreme court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and former justice Sandra Day O Connor have not
only made an impact but are proof that women are equal to men when it comes to court room
decisions. Throughout the essay I will explain the background of the justice, the president who
appointed them, and the accomplishments made on the Supreme Court. Sandra Day O Connor was the
first woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. A Republican, she was considered a moderate
conservative and served for 24 years. Born on March 26, 1930, in El Paso, Texas, Sandra Day O
Connor spent part of her youth on her family s Arizona ranch. She graduated from Stanford University
in 1950 with a bachelor s degree in economics, O Connor attended the university s law school and
received her degree in 1952, graduating third in her class. As opportunities for women lawyers were
limited at the time she had to work without pay at a county attorney in California San Mateo region.
From 1954 57, O Connor moved overseas and served as a civilian lawyer for the Quartermaster
Masker Center in Frankfurt, Germany. She returned home in 1958 and settled in Arizona. There she
worked at a private practice before returning to public service, acting as the state s assistant attorney
general from 1965 69. In 1969, O Connor

The SARA Model Of Gangs
Gangs, what are they? Who are they? And why are they a problem? What do we think of when we
hear the word gang, overall it s a word that comes with a lot of negative baggage, violence and not a
very good thing. The word gang can have a lot of different meanings of people coming together for
something. However, today in our societies the word gangs is defined as an organized group of
criminals. A gang is a group of persons with close social relations that work together in unlawful ways
for their profit and or benefit. One time or another we have all heard of gangs and know a little about
the violence and criminal behaviors that they are involved in from social media and the news. In an
article the FBI says that gangs are morphing, multiplying, migrating and entrenching themselves in
our inner cities, suburbs and rural communities. They are selling drugs to our kids, shooting up our
neighborhoods, invading our homes, robbing our banks and stores, stealing our identities, our money,
and instilling fear and violence everywhere they go(The Gang...,2009).
Using the SARA model in trying to understand the problem with gangs, I turn to the first steps in this
model, scanning and analysing, identifying what s the problem. In a study done in 1981 in California
they found that gangs became one of the biggest crime problem because of assaults, drive by
shootings, homicides, and brutal home invasion robberies that caused a serious threat to public
safety(Friedrichs, 1999). The department

Teleological And Deontological Analysis
One might ask, what makes an action ethical? Why some people think that product placement in
movies is a considerably ethical phenomena, while others find it unethical and unacceptable.
According to Tsalikis Fritzsche, (1989, p, 696), ethics is an inquiry into the nature and grounds of
morality where morality means moral judgments, standards, and rules of conduct (Tsalikis, Fritzsche,
1989, p, 696). In other words, ethics, which is a discipline that deals with what true and false is, is
defined as a system of determined theory or moral values (Shea, 1988). Likewise an ethical evaluation
is based on moral philosophy (Reidenbach Robin, 1990). Therefore, an ethical decision depends on
individual moral values, and the judgment of business activity is influenced by his/her moral
philosophy (Wang, 2012). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The major difference between these two theories is that, deontological theories focus on the specific
actions or behaviours of an individual, while teleological theories focus on the consequences of those
actions or behaviours (Hunt Vitell, 1986). Both of these two streams have several sub streams,
however, the following sections will seek to examine only two of them since researchers (e.g.
Beauchamp Bowie, 1979; Murphy Laczniak, 1981) categorise major moral philosophies into the two
major types of deontology and teleology, including utilitarianism (Vitell et al., 2001). These two main
ethical systems will then be discussed in a context of product placement in order to give a theoretical
foundation for understanding the subsequent

Pyroclastic rocks can be erupted in two different ways: they can be airfall deposits or pyroclastic
flows.
There are seven different types of volcanoes: Submarine volcanoes; Ridges and vents; Shield
volcanoes; Lava plateaus and Flood basalts; Lave domes; Composite volcanoes; Cinder and Scoria
cones; and Calderas. Each of these volcanoes is found in different geographical locations and have
different eruptions. Along with different types of volcanoes, there are also different types of eruptions.
The five eruption types are: Pelean, Vulcanian, Strombolian, Hawaiian, and Icelandic. These
volcanoes have different levels of explosiveness, and their eruptions occur due to their geographic
location.
A volcanic hazard is destructive natural process that has a probability of reoccurring. Losses from
volcanoes include: people s lives, property, livestock, and the productive capacity of the area. The
factors of predicting volcanic activity are: the longer a volcano is inactive, the greater the chances are
for it to become active; eruptive behavior may change with time; and some hazards are indirectly

Public Television And Its Effect On Corporate Funding
Public is a Misnomer
Public television, as it exists now in the United States, is funded, in part, by corporations. In
discussion section 306 Joe mentioned that the Ford Motor Company is one of PBS big corporate
sponsors (2016). The very definition of public television is that the content is publicly funded;
whether through government grants, or public donations. A corporation stepping in to supply funding
ruins the sanctity of the public broadcasting, by taking the bias out of what is produced and how it is
produced. If PBS is in part funded by corporations, the whole idea of a publicly funded networks is
dead.
PBS was created in a time where the classic broadcast archetype was the only way television got
made. In the first week of class, Professor Johnson explained that the classic American network
television archetype relies on corporate funding in the form of advertisement sales (2016). A certain
amount of viewership of a given show, on a given night, can drive huge ad sales. The higher a show s
ratings, the bigger the ad sales. PBS combatted this archetype by attempting to produce content by
means of government grants and viewer donations.
The creation of over the top services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime, are shifting the way the
model works. Crawford defines over the top as a provider who makes video available over the internet
(112). The Nielsen Company tried to account for the DVR viewers, but with companies like Netflix

The Role Of Fate In Oedipus And A Job
Meyer Fortes explains the two ways Greeks understood fate or moira in his work on Oedipus and a
Job . Fortes defines fate to its original meaning of lot and portion. He found that the first aspect was
impersonal and focused on the supreme over both gods and men (50). With this Fortes means that
actions are being determined by other things beyond the individual s control like gods. The impersonal
aspect could also be considered as the deterministic view of fate. The second aspect was individual,
being that each person has a particular apportionment of good and evil. . . which is decided at birth
(Fortes 50). Forte means to say that the individual s good and evil is given to them at birth. Yet, Fortes
speaks directly about Oedipus adding that, an individual s fate is in part determined by the fate of his
parents and in turn affects that of his offspring (50). Here Fortes is trying to say that there were so
many different things that took shape of Oedipus life and that of his offspring s. At the very beginning
Oedipus life took shape because of Laius and Jocasta, first they his life formed but later they tried to
take in away because of an oracle. As Oedipus life continued he would make decisions that would
ultimately lead him to his own demise. Finally the decisions that Oedipus made in his lifetime would
negatively affect his children. Kirkwood Gordon M. Kirkwood believes that there are three types of
oracles, but in his writing, Oracles and Dramaturgy, he only

The Study Of Human Psychology Essay
Introduction
The study of human psychology comprises many elements to best understand human behaviour,
through theoretical perspectives on aspects including behavioural, cognitive and personality
psychology (Caponecchia, 2012). In the modern era, psychology has been recognised as one of the
foundations during learning, with individuals having different abilities and learning rates, it is
essential that tutors teach considering the individual differences students possess (Nezhad and Vahedi,
2011). Instructors have been shown to teach in their own preferred learning method, which may not
necessarily be the most appropriate style for the students. This creates loss of motivation in the
students and lower learning rates (Gailbraith and Saunders, 1987). Potentially, this is due to learners
preferring to learn within their comfort zone whilst utilizing their dominant learning style (Partridge,

understanding of them for ongoing refinement and success (Vaughn and Baker, 2001). There is also an
importance in recognising individuals not just for their abilities but also for their personalities and
motivation (Entwistle, 2013). Similarly, whilst undertaking any sort of leadership role, it is just as
important to be self aware of your own traits including emotions, goals and identity, in order to create
positive relationships and maintain sustainable performance (Avolio and Gardner, 2005).

Gregory And Papacy Essay
When one thinks about the Pope today, there is an image of an elderly man in robes who kisses babies,
makes broad statements about the policies or beliefs of the church, and travels around the world
meeting with the leaders of the world and the church. If one confers with Merriam Webster, the word
pope is defined as the head of the Roman Catholic Church, a definition that falls in line with the
thoughts of many, perhaps even most, people today. For those who are familiar with the history of
western civilization, the papacy is a newer development. The papacy and the Christian church are
tightly aligned with the Roman Empire, but the Empire underwent a variety of changes and no longer
exists, and yet, the Roman Catholic Church and its head are still intact. If the papacy and the church
are newer developments in the grand scheme of western ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was Pope Gregory I, who never sought the papacy, that brought reform and scholarship to the
position. , Gregory held the papacy from 590 until 604. Born into an aristocratic family, Gregory was
well educated. He gave up the life of relative prominence and pursued monasticism. During his time
as monk, Pope Pelagius II appointed him ambassador to the court at Constantinople. Pelagius later
required the help of Gregory and his monks, during a time of rampant flooding and disease, for
various projects throughout Rome, including sanitation, burial and feeding of the poor. , When
Pelagius died, the clergy and people unanimously elected Gregory to the empty see. While unwanted,
Gregory continued the city reformation projects that he began under Pelagius with an admirable zeal.
Pope Gregory the Great, only the second to receive the honorific the Great , not only helped rebuild
the city, but he was also able to negotiate peace with Lombards and was a prolific writer. He was
heavily influenced by St.

High School Singing Research Paper
I started singing in my elementary school choir during the third grade and singing in choirs has
followed me throughout my life ever since. I now attend a performing arts magnet high school for
choral performance.
Singing, to me, is something that defines who I am because I have been doing it for so long. I have
spent countless hours in voice lessons, rehearsals, practicing, recitals, and concerts that I do not know
what my life would be without it. Being a vocal student has allowed me to express myself in a unique
way that brings joy to others.
I love music because it has the ability to transform someone s day just by listening to it. In my
opinion, it is one of the few art forms that is effortless for others to experience because there

Restaurant Scene Analysis
870532731 Essay 1 1. In order to clearly understand the bigger picture of why the restaurant scene
was not very diverse, I had to look back in history to not so long ago when times were very different.
Studying historical particularism allowed me to do so and therefore further my understanding of what
the underlying problems may be. Historically, the town was not very accepting of social diversity and
therefore the citizens are acting similarly to how they were raised and implementing their recursive
actions. This plays a big part on the social constructionism in the area which explains how certain
restaurants were perceived. An example of this from the article was the 40 60 rule in which no more
than forty percent of the people in the restaurant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The year of 2015 was very significant for certain individuals, but it was a year that affected all
Americans in some way or another. This was the year that Gay marriage became legal in all fifty
states. Prior to this monumental action by the Supreme Court, there was not a wide acceptance of gay
marriage within certain parts of America. Since then, not only have people been more accepting
towards gay marriage, but people are taking it a step further and examining gay rights as a whole. This
includes rights such as parental rights. The New York Times covered a story in which a gay couple
adopted a baby with intensions to raise him together. After breaking up, the biological mother
attempted to deny the other mother the right to raise their son. The Supreme Court ruled that it would
be inconsistent to deny a gay couple the same rights as a straight couple in regards to parental care. In
the recent history of the United States, the historical particularism suggests it would have been thought
nearly impossible for a gay couple to be allowed to legally marry each other let alone have and raise a
family. The ideology of communities within the United States shifted from absolutely not allowing
gay right to anyone, to giving them the same rights as straight people. The reconfiguration of this idea
stems from the change in social and cultural constructionism. Symbols are constantly evolving and
representing a new meaning which is how social change happens. The symbols associated

Ethical Aspects of Torrents
The ethical issues surrounding free video games are the same, with game developers and publishers
claiming that game torrents are taking money out of their hands and the hands of their staff. Games are
widely available for purchase and once purchased become property of the gamer. A game can range in
price from a few dollars to around 60 dollars for AAA games (Games created by large companies on
massive budgets). Video games are also almost exclusively downloaded through torrents as game files
are usually very large and directly downloading can be cumbersome and time consuming. This is all
very straightforward, but what happens if the user misplaces or loses the game disc? Since the game is
already that person s property, would there be harm in downloading another game for free? The game
developers say no, and that the game would have to be purchased once more. Many gamers, on the
other hand, believe that they are entitled to a free download as they have already purchased the game
once and the manufacturer will not be losing any revenue. This debate has been around for the last
decades and as of late some developers (mostly indie) have started exclusively selling their product as
a downloadable file. Sites like Steam and GOG.com provide the customer with a code after purchase
that allows many, and sometimes unlimited, downloads. Video game piracy is not exclusive to
computer games. Game consoles like the XBOX 360 and the PlayStation 3 can be hacked or altered to
allow

Digestive System Analysis
Anatomy and Physiology of the Digestive System
Mouth and Salivary Glands
The mouth, also referred to as the oral cavity, is the entryway into the digestive tract. The opening is
formed by the lips, which guide food into and contain food in the mouth. The palate forms the roof of
the mouth and separates the mouth from the nasal passages. The uvula is important in sealing off the
nasal passages during swallowing. The tongue forms the floor of the mouth and guides food within the
mouth during chewing and swallowing. The major taste buds are also located on the tongue.
(Sherwood 2013)
The first step in the digestive process is mastication, or chewing. This is the motility of the mouth
which involves the slicing, grinding, tearing and mixing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peristalsis is the successive contractions of a muscular organ, which moves gut contents along.
(Henderson 2011) Peristalsis within the oesophagus moves the ingested food down and into the
stomach.
Stomach
The stomach is a saclike storage chamber found between the oesophagus and the small intestine. The
stomach consists of three main portions, namely the fundus, the body and the antrum. It is separated
from the duodenum by the pyloric sphincter. The fundus lies above the oesophageal opening and has a
relatively thin muscular layer, as does the body of the stomach which is the largest portion. The
antrum however, has heavier musculature due to gastric mixing that occurs within the antrum. The
body of the stomach is only for storage of ingested food and therefore the thinner muscle wall.
(Sherwood 2013)
The primary function of the stomach is for storage of ingested food during the consumption of a meal,
and then regulating its release into the duodenum (Smith Morton 2001) at a rate that is optimal for
digestion and absorption to occur. Moreover, the stomach has two other functions namely: Secretion
of HCl and enzymes to begin the digestive process, and the production of chyme the only form in
which stomach contents can be emptied into the stomach. (Sherwood

Summary Of The Tone Of Carrt Sandburg Grass
The Sorrowful Tone of Carl Sandburg Grass In the poem, Grass, Robert Sandburg gives a
personification to the grass, and gives us a strong message about war. Sandburg mentions several wars
and how after many years nature has done a good job on heal its fields after being extremely damaged
due to war, but the pain that leaves to us is something that will never go away. On the first line,
Sandburg starts his poem by giving us a disturbing image of the aftermath of war. The line Pile the
bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo tells us how there were many casualties during these two wars.
The battle of Austerlitz left more than fifteen thousand casualties not to mention the Battle of Waterloo
which left more than twenty five thousand casualties. Although these wars occurred more than two
hundred years ago, it is something still remembered in history, and at the time when all the tragedies
occurred we can infer that it left many people grieving for the loss of their loved ones. Wars have
always been disastrous, tragic events that end physically and emotionally the lives of many people,
including adults and children. Going back to the poem, the grass is the narrator of the poem and by
reading the first line we can deduce that it, the grass, tells the remaining soldiers, or the people taking
care of the dead bodies, to pile them up because having them spread out across the field would
probably would take up a lot of space that could be needed for other soldiers or medics. Now,

What Is The Narrative Voice In The Great Gatsby
The comparison of narrative voices and protagonists in both The Great Gatsby and Sonnets of the
Portuguese reveals the universal value of love, yet its capacity is determined by context and value
systems. The Great Gatsby and Sonnets of the Portuguese depict the contrasting contexts of Fitzgerald
and Barrett Browning.
The narrative voices makes this evident; both composers are parallels to the narrative voices within
the texts. Fitzgerald utilises Nick s controlled narrative voice to challenge and criticise his chaotic and
immoral society. This is evident in Chapter 1, when Nick states, When I came back from the East last
autumn I felt that I wanted the world to be in uniform and at a sort of moral attention forever .
Fitzgerald is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the contrasting contextual backgrounds of each of the composers influenced the texts
developments. Within The Great Gatsby , Fitzgerald portrays a post war world in which value systems
have gone out of balance. He characterises protagonists such as Tom and Daisy to show the lack of
human decency in the materialistic period. Gatsby s death is meaningless to them, except as a personal
inconvenience and complication. Fitzgerald s employs Nick s voice once again to criticise the immoral
society, . . . I began to have a feeling of defiance, of scornful solidarity between Gatsby and me
against them all. (9.20) Whilst Fitzgerald scorns the rejection of pre war values and perspectives, the
Sonnets of the Portuguese , in comparison, is a celebration of moral abandonment in Barrett Browning
s staid and conservative era. Barrett Browning utilises her poems to make personal commentary on the
conservative Victorian period and perspectives of society. This is clear within Sonnet XXII, Let us
stay Rather on earth, Beloved, where the unfit Contrarious moods of men recoil away, And isolate
pure spirits . Barrett Browning s scandalous elopement with Robert undid the world by breaching
social mores and challenged the suffocating values of her

Capitalism And Socialism In The Jungle By Upton Sinclair
During the 1900s many immigrants were coming to the United States for a better life. Companies
would hire immigrants from all over to work in their so called meatpacking industry which had
unsanitary conditions. The Jungle written by Upton Sinclair which aimed at the meatpacking industry

The monograph flows naturally as it is in chronological order on how immigrants would come to the
United States for the American Dream, and were working in horrible jobs and work conditions.
Upton Sinclair was very biased due to fact that he wanted a socialist country rather than capitalism.
The author shows the atrocious side of capitalism so that way he can promote socialism. He believes
that capitalism takes over individuals lives because the bosses of these facility want to pay the workers
less in horrible working conditions.
The Jungle s Critical observation proves the main point on how capitalism can affect immigrants and
to take grant of them. At the end of the book Upton Sinclair still has a stance on Socialism, he
advocates socialism which in the end used Jurgis to be a faithful socialist.
The background of Upton Sinclair is very credible due to the help of passing the Meat Inspection Act
which helped millions of immigrants work in better conditions. The author wrote several books.
In Conclusion, Upton Sinclair advocated Socialism, he wanted to end capitalism which was affecting
immigrants in many ways. He helped passed several acts which affected millions of workers for better

Walmart s approach means frequent, informal cooperation among stores, distribution centres and

Retail links at the store, use of RFIDs and smart tags, suppliers and manufacturers within the supply
chain synchronize their demand forecaste under a collaborative planning, forecasting and

Understanding how the flow of funds falls in line with knowing what transactions take place between
sellers and buyers. It is best to also understand where the monies sources come from, how the money
flows throughout the system and how the funds are used; and how to make the right choices based on
if the resource of supplies in greater than the need to have the product no matter what the cost will be;
this process is known as elasticity or inelasticity (2007). Examining how these behaviors and decision
process are broken down into branches of economics is known as microeconomics. All the
components that allocate how decisions are made for resources affects the need for supply and

market does not resourcefully arrange or distribute services and goods to the consumer (2007).

The Importance Of Negative Thoughts
Have you ever wondered if someone s emotions affects their success? A person s thoughts or emotions
affect their failure or success significantly. Negative thoughts are very powerful and have a tendency
to overshadow the positive thoughts that a person has.If we do something good then something bad
happens our brain will focus on the negative thing that happened and not care about the positive
thing.people can t go back to the positive thought after a negative thought comes to mind.If you
always look for a positive then there will always a negative that come up.But if you look at the
negative there will always be a positive but the positive might make is situation worse. Our view of
the world tends to tilt towards the negative (Ledgerwood).Losing helps prevent making the same

  • 2. Analysis Of Yahweh Summons Moses In the two versions of the story Yahweh summons Moses , the bulk of the story remains constant. In both iterations, Moses is called by Yahweh to speak to Pharaoh on behalf of the enslaved Israelites. However, there are many key differences in tone and character development that distinguish the two stories. In the JE version, the text starts with an angel of the Lord appearing to Moses from within a burning bush. This imagery is noticeable absent from the P version of the text. This reflects the priestly interests in the P iteration because in P stories, only priests are able to act as intermediates between man and the divine. Thus, the fantastical image of the burning bush in JE is eschewed. Instead, the P version shows the Lod communicating directly with Moses. The next major difference between the sources is in the substance of the Lord s initial message to Moses. In the JE source, the focus is on rescuing the Israelites from Egypt to bring them to a land flowing with milk and honey (Exodus 3:8). In contrast, the P source depicts the Lord rescuing his people and [redeeming them] with an outstretched arm and with tremendous judgements (Exodus 6:6). In the JE source, the Lord is depicted as a more merciful and human Lord who delivers the people into a great land. In the P source, the Lord is characterized as detached. The narrative greatly emphasizes the Lord s divine power. Additionally, the P source repeats the phrase I am YHWH which further stresses the cosmic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hamlet Strengths And Weaknesses Strength is essential to overcome obstacles, however people in similar circumstances may have disparate decisions, leading to various outcomes and consequences. In spite of all challenges, discouragements and impossibilities; strength distinguishes a strong soul from a weak one. Through the literatures of William Shakespeare, Miriam Toews and Lawrence Hill, it is evident that ethics and morality play an important role in affecting decisions of the main characters. Assuredly, Hamlet, Naomi and Aminata, participate in situations where their courage is tested to its fullest, impacting their fate; for the better and for the worse. Despite bearing cultural and periodic differences, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews and The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill all demonstrate judgements that enrich and destroy the lives of the protagonists and of those around them. Firstly, Hamlet in Hamlet shows dreadful judgement by consuming himself in revengeance, resulting in his own downfall. Hamlet becomes obsessed with avenging his uncle, King Claudius for murdering his father, King Hamlet. As a result of this, corruption takes hold of Hamlet s life, in which it becomes full of hatred, reprisal and bloodlust. Hamlet questions himself of which act is more noble. Is it more noble to suffer from the wrong deeds that one has done onto another or if it is more noble to end the suffering by fighting? In this soliloquy, it is clear that Hamlet is torn between ... • 4. Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight, By Emily Dickinson Death is the concern in of both Dylan Thomas Do Not Go Gentle into That Goodnight, and Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for Death . Moreover, while these two poets use similar themes in their works, the execution and tone of their respective pieces could not be more antithetical. More to the point, Thomas poem paints death and oblivion as something deserving of fear and dread, and even though dying is an immutable fact in our world, man will always feel the need to have, Rage, Rage against the dying of the light . However, Dickinson does not let the fear of death consume her, so much so, that in her poem she embraces death as nothing less than a gentleman, who in her own words kindly stopped for me . At the end of it all, Dylan Thomas poem is a loud boisterous proclamation about the desperation of man to hold on to life and to leave something behind but ultimately realizing they cannot, while Dickinson s is a quiet reflection about the cyclical nature of life and death and the peace the end brings. Dylan Thomas aforementioned poem is about battling against the rising tide, while still knowing there truly is no stopping it. More to the point, the author is conveying that man will always fight against the ire of death and in the interim, try to avert it, but in the long term, hope that something in their legacy leaves a worthwhile impact. Fight against the dying of the light, is a call to action; every person will fight to hold on to this life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Heathers Essay The movie that I have chosen is a classic film from 1988 called Heathers. Heathers is an American cult black comedy film written by Daniel Waters and directed by Michael Lehmann. The film portrays four teenage girls three of whom are named Heather in a clique and a teen named Veronica Sawyer who desperately wants to fit in, as well as a crazy and unstable boy named J.D that plans to ruin it all. The focus of this essay will be on three characters. Analyzing their internal and external battles, as well as their social interactions with loved ones and other members of their fictional society. To begin, I will focus on Veronica Sawyer. Out of the entire movie Veronica has the most stable family. Born as an only child, her mom and dad were active and involved parents. Veronica attended an Ohio high school where she met the heathers . The heathers were three extremely popular teens that ran the school and Veronica wanted nothing more than to be like them. The looking glass self has a very prominent role in regards to Veronica. She viewed herself as less because she was not as popular or liked as the Heathers. One night after being harassed by the Heathers at a party, Veronica and J.D (a boy she began seeing) went to Heather Chandler s house with hopes to be accepted by her. After Heather had embarrassed Veronica in front of J.D Heather asks for a drink. While Veronica was not looking J.D poured laundry detergent into the cup thus killing Heather Chandler. • 6. Gender And Misrepresentation In Sports And Media Gender representation and in particular misrepresentation is a key issue within sport and media today as female coverage of sport is overlooked in all forms of mainstream media. This issue is what we, as a group of 3, had to tackle and present to our academic peers in a student led seminar session. The issue derives from the main theme of sport and media and their relationship but could also be said to have direct links to other themes such as sport and (in) equality. Gender representation comes under both media and equality in terms of broader topics because it is the concern of the media to help broadcast more female sport and raise awareness of the inequality which exists to the wide audience it has to target, this doesn t happen enough currently. Research by Cooky et al. (2013) suggests that female sports coverage on ESPN sport takes up around 3% of coverage time which is a shocking disparity compared to men s coverage on the same channel. It also found that 0 news stories on WNBA were published out of season across multiple news channels while the NBA had 72 stories. Studying this topic is particularly important to understand historically and culturally why this problem exists as well as to look at the negative ideologies which exist within sports media around the subject of gender representation. One of the key sociological ideas which we introduced to our class mates during the seminar was the concept of gender ideology, masculinity and how this impacts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Social Work Profession In the social work profession, the primary goal is to aid and empower individuals or families who are faced with oppression, vulnerable in society, and living in poverty (Code of Ethics, 2008). Social workers strive to improve the welfare of those who need assistance meeting their daily basic essentials for survival. According to Abraham Maslow s Hierarchy of Basic needs, a person requires five clusters to make them an integrated and self motivated whole in society. The five clusters include: physiological needs; security needs; social needs; self esteem needs; and self actualizing needs (Aanstoos, 2014). The Code of Ethics is an important component that ensures that the profession is held to its highest standard and to protect the community. Then you have management employees like myself that are forced to accept changes with nothing we can do about it, which has brought about a sense of unfairness. The feeling of unfairness has led to people not putting their all into their jobs creating a very laid back and non sense of emergency attitude in certain groups and areas of the company. In areas like the control center employees have no choice but to be alert, responsive and vigilant seeing as people s lives are at risk if they fail to do their job properly. The corporate offices where a lot the IT, administrative, finances departments etc. are where I feel the employees to be slack. This type of attitude I believe is slowing down productivity across the board and a lot of things seem to be delayed. Problem statement I think the majority of employees at ConEd are dissatisfied with their jobs and the organization s leadership. This is leading to low levels of performance which in turn is also making the organization very laid back and not fulfilling enough for employees that are really trying to get ahead and be rewarded for their efforts. • 9. Quinceaner Culture, Culture And Traditions In American... Coming of age birthdays exist throughout many cultures and have evolved in different ways depending on the region or religion they came from. Besides the traditional American sweet 16 , there are other very popular traditions that are diversified by culture, religion, and by the day it takes place. Americans celebrate many of these different cultural birthdays because anyone who lives in the US has the right to practice any religion they see fit. Most birthdays have very similar features such as giving gifts to the man and, or woman of honor. There are also many differences in these traditions, some of which are considerably more family based than others, such as the Quinceanera . A Quinceanera is a Catholic, Hispanic, celebration for when a Hispanic girl turns 15. The 15 year old receives a special birthday that represents them transforming from a girl into a woman. This tradition was brought to Mexico by Spanish conquerors and has remained a tradition of South America and Mexico ever since. It is only practiced in Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central, South, and North American cultures. It is a very formal event; so formal in fact that most of the celebration is treated like a wedding. It is so wedding like that most Quinceanera parties gets three layered wedding cakes for this non wedding tradition. Anglo Saxon Exile Essay During the time of the Anglo Saxon s there were many things that would cause a person stress, such as protecting their kingdom, earning honor, and living in a Godly way, but the thing that caused the most panic was the thought of exile. Exile was the force or chosen movement of a person out of their kingdom and away from their family. The Anglo Saxon s were so concerned with the idea of exile, they added it into many of their lyric poems like The Seafarer, The Wanderer, and The Wife s Lament to show the consequences of being forced to leave their home. The poem s would bring fear to the Anglo Saxon s and showed them the correct way to live and behave within their communities. Also, a minor character, the wife s husband, in The Wife s Lament shows this form of exile when he willingly leaves his wife at home to go in search of something more at sea. Forced exile was for the Anglo Saxon s who had broken a tribe rule or had no tribe left to be with. The main character in The Wife s Lament was forced to leave her home by her lord, husband, when he returned home from sea and found her living with another man in his absence. Global Operations And Supply Chain Management Global Operations and Supply Chain Management Competitive Alternatives Survey A company involved in manufacturing medical devices decides to begin sourcing components internationally. As for now, it operates in the United States and Germany only. So, senior management should assess the relative manufacturing costs worldwide to choose where to source. This decision will be made based on manufacturing costs. Cities with the Lowest and Highest Manufacturing Costs The latest Competitive Alternatives survey was published by KPMG in 2016. It is the comparison of more than 100 cities in 10 countries all over the globe. The key finding of the report is that Mexico has the highest relative cost advantage if compared to the United States, and Japan has the lowest (KPMG, 2016). However, the area of interest of this investigation is to determine three cities with the highest and the lowest manufacturing costs for the company s specific industry medical devices manufacturing. The 2016 report specifies that Monterrey and Mexico City in Mexico offer the lowest prices if taking into consideration facility cost (factory rent). The same is true about utility (electricity and natural gas), labor (salaries, statutory plans, etc.), and transportation (surface and air fright) costs. In general, Mexico is an attractive destination for sourcing because manufacturing costs are almost 22 percent lower than in the United States (Medical devices, 2016). This definition of art does not fit with what the passage is trying to achieve. Therefore it is likely that in this context, the author is referring to art as a skill at doing a specified thing, typically one acquired through practice. Main Argument and Synopsis Astrology should be taken more seriously. There are five key reasons that outline the truth of astrology. First, astrology has been used for over six thousand years and was historically considered to be more accurate than medical professionals. Several scientific studies have been conducted to support astrological findings. Several yearly predictions that were made astrologically have been known to come true with a high success rate. Additionally, astrologers use a twelve sign system to analyze individual personality traits, one study on these predictions held a 96% accuracy rate. Lastly, some psychologists today have taken to using astrology as a diagnosis tool and to treat their clients. These clients responded positively to their treatment. • 14. Christopher Innes The Historical Avant-Garde The Historical Avant Garde expressed new ways of art and reformed the traditional sense of art. Christopher Innes used three words that described the Avant Garde: populism, primitivism, and philosophy. These components can be seen in the figures 1 3 that help define some known movements of the Avant Garde. The movements that are particularly focused in these figures is Dada, Expressionism, and Surrealism. Each image displays an aesthetic characteristic of the Avant Garde, as well as defining what the movements stood for. In addition, the visual imagery of these figures illustrates a new method of art, in attempt to create a better art. This can also be seen in Figure 3, and it would explain why the women s breasts are exposed and why the man is not wearing a shirt as well. This perspective is one of the elements of the Avant Garde, as it is something considered new as well as going against the anti establishment of the traditional theatre. Sandra Day O Connor Throughout history many U.S. Supreme Court Justices have served for numerous years on the Supreme court making final decisions on diverse cases that have created long lasting impacts. The current supreme court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and former justice Sandra Day O Connor have not only made an impact but are proof that women are equal to men when it comes to court room decisions. Throughout the essay I will explain the background of the justice, the president who appointed them, and the accomplishments made on the Supreme Court. Sandra Day O Connor was the first woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. A Republican, she was considered a moderate conservative and served for 24 years. Born on March 26, 1930, in El Paso, Texas, Sandra Day O Connor spent part of her youth on her family s Arizona ranch. She graduated from Stanford University in 1950 with a bachelor s degree in economics, O Connor attended the university s law school and received her degree in 1952, graduating third in her class. As opportunities for women lawyers were limited at the time she had to work without pay at a county attorney in California San Mateo region. • 16. The SARA Model Of Gangs Gangs, what are they? Who are they? And why are they a problem? What do we think of when we hear the word gang, overall it s a word that comes with a lot of negative baggage, violence and not a very good thing. The word gang can have a lot of different meanings of people coming together for something. However, today in our societies the word gangs is defined as an organized group of criminals. A gang is a group of persons with close social relations that work together in unlawful ways for their profit and or benefit. One time or another we have all heard of gangs and know a little about the violence and criminal behaviors that they are involved in from social media and the news. In an article the FBI says that gangs are morphing, multiplying, migrating and entrenching themselves in our inner cities, suburbs and rural communities. They are selling drugs to our kids, shooting up our neighborhoods, invading our homes, robbing our banks and stores, stealing our identities, our money, and instilling fear and violence everywhere they go(The Gang...,2009). Using the SARA model in trying to understand the problem with gangs, I turn to the first steps in this model, scanning and analysing, identifying what s the problem. In a study done in 1981 in California they found that gangs became one of the biggest crime problem because of assaults, drive by shootings, homicides, and brutal home invasion robberies that caused a serious threat to public safety(Friedrichs, 1999). • 17. Teleological And Deontological Analysis One might ask, what makes an action ethical? Why some people think that product placement in movies is a considerably ethical phenomena, while others find it unethical and unacceptable. According to Tsalikis Fritzsche, (1989, p, 696), ethics is an inquiry into the nature and grounds of morality where morality means moral judgments, standards, and rules of conduct (Tsalikis, Fritzsche, 1989, p, 696). In other words, ethics, which is a discipline that deals with what true and false is, is defined as a system of determined theory or moral values (Shea, 1988). Likewise an ethical evaluation is based on moral philosophy (Reidenbach Robin, 1990). Therefore, an ethical decision depends on individual moral values, and the judgment of business activity is influenced by his/her moral philosophy (Wang, 2012). ... The Geological Event of Volcanic Eruptions and the Disasters they Cause In this report I plan to discuss the geological event of volcanic eruptions and the disasters they cause. To me, this is a fascinating topic and timely seeing how the 19th anniversary of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens is upon us. I hope to inform people of the mass destruction that is caused by the eruption of a volcano. The scope of my report will be limited to: 1) describing what comes out of a volcano, 2) explaining the seven different types of volcanoes, 3) explaining the five types of volcanic eruptions, and 4) explaining the disasters they can cause people. Pyroclastic rocks can be erupted in two different ways: they can be airfall deposits or pyroclastic flows. There are seven different types of volcanoes: Submarine volcanoes; Ridges and vents; Shield volcanoes; Lava plateaus and Flood basalts; Lave domes; Composite volcanoes; Cinder and Scoria cones; and Calderas. Each of these volcanoes is found in different geographical locations and have different eruptions. Along with different types of volcanoes, there are also different types of eruptions. The five eruption types are: Pelean, Vulcanian, Strombolian, Hawaiian, and Icelandic. These volcanoes have different levels of explosiveness, and their eruptions occur due to their geographic location. A volcanic hazard is destructive natural process that has a probability of reoccurring. Losses from volcanoes include: people s lives, property, livestock, and the productive capacity of the area. The factors of predicting volcanic activity are: the longer a volcano is inactive, the greater the chances are for it to become active; eruptive behavior may change with time; and some hazards are indirectly related to an eruption, making it difficult to forecast. • 19. Public Television And Its Effect On Corporate Funding Public is a Misnomer Public television, as it exists now in the United States, is funded, in part, by corporations. In discussion section 306 Joe mentioned that the Ford Motor Company is one of PBS big corporate sponsors (2016). The very definition of public television is that the content is publicly funded; whether through government grants, or public donations. A corporation stepping in to supply funding ruins the sanctity of the public broadcasting, by taking the bias out of what is produced and how it is produced. If PBS is in part funded by corporations, the whole idea of a publicly funded networks is dead. PBS was created in a time where the classic broadcast archetype was the only way television got made. In the first week of class, Professor Johnson explained that the classic American network television archetype relies on corporate funding in the form of advertisement sales (2016). A certain amount of viewership of a given show, on a given night, can drive huge ad sales. The higher a show s ratings, the bigger the ad sales. PBS combatted this archetype by attempting to produce content by means of government grants and viewer donations. The creation of over the top services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime, are shifting the way the model works. Crawford defines over the top as a provider who makes video available over the internet (112). • 20. The Role Of Fate In Oedipus And A Job Meyer Fortes explains the two ways Greeks understood fate or moira in his work on Oedipus and a Job . Fortes defines fate to its original meaning of lot and portion. He found that the first aspect was impersonal and focused on the supreme over both gods and men (50). With this Fortes means that actions are being determined by other things beyond the individual s control like gods. The impersonal aspect could also be considered as the deterministic view of fate. The second aspect was individual, being that each person has a particular apportionment of good and evil. . . which is decided at birth (Fortes 50). Forte means to say that the individual s good and evil is given to them at birth. Yet, Fortes speaks directly about Oedipus adding that, an individual s fate is in part determined by the fate of his parents and in turn affects that of his offspring (50). Here Fortes is trying to say that there were so many different things that took shape of Oedipus life and that of his offspring s. At the very beginning Oedipus life took shape because of Laius and Jocasta, first they his life formed but later they tried to take in away because of an oracle. As Oedipus life continued he would make decisions that would ultimately lead him to his own demise. Finally the decisions that Oedipus made in his lifetime would negatively affect his children. Kirkwood Gordon M. Kirkwood believes that there are three types of oracles, but in his writing, Oracles and Dramaturgy, he only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. The Study Of Human Psychology Essay Introduction The study of human psychology comprises many elements to best understand human behaviour, through theoretical perspectives on aspects including behavioural, cognitive and personality psychology (Caponecchia, 2012). In the modern era, psychology has been recognised as one of the foundations during learning, with individuals having different abilities and learning rates, it is essential that tutors teach considering the individual differences students possess (Nezhad and Vahedi, 2011). Instructors have been shown to teach in their own preferred learning method, which may not necessarily be the most appropriate style for the students. This creates loss of motivation in the students and lower learning rates (Gailbraith and Saunders, 1987). Potentially, this is due to learners preferring to learn within their comfort zone whilst utilizing their dominant learning style (Partridge, 1983). Teachers need to be aware of the different teaching methods out there and have an understanding of them for ongoing refinement and success (Vaughn and Baker, 2001). There is also an importance in recognising individuals not just for their abilities but also for their personalities and motivation (Entwistle, 2013). Similarly, whilst undertaking any sort of leadership role, it is just as important to be self aware of your own traits including emotions, goals and identity, in order to create positive relationships and maintain sustainable performance (Avolio and Gardner, 2005). • 22. Gregory And Papacy Essay When one thinks about the Pope today, there is an image of an elderly man in robes who kisses babies, makes broad statements about the policies or beliefs of the church, and travels around the world meeting with the leaders of the world and the church. If one confers with Merriam Webster, the word pope is defined as the head of the Roman Catholic Church, a definition that falls in line with the thoughts of many, perhaps even most, people today. For those who are familiar with the history of western civilization, the papacy is a newer development. The papacy and the Christian church are tightly aligned with the Roman Empire, but the Empire underwent a variety of changes and no longer exists, and yet, the Roman Catholic Church and its head are still intact. In order to clearly understand the bigger picture of why the restaurant scene was not very diverse, I had to look back in history to not so long ago when times were very different. Studying historical particularism allowed me to do so and therefore further my understanding of what the underlying problems may be. Historically, the town was not very accepting of social diversity and therefore the citizens are acting similarly to how they were raised and implementing their recursive actions. This plays a big part on the social constructionism in the area which explains how certain restaurants were perceived. An example of this from the article was the 40 60 rule in which no more than forty percent of the people in the restaurant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The year of 2015 was very significant for certain individuals, but it was a year that affected all Americans in some way or another. This was the year that Gay marriage became legal in all fifty states. Prior to this monumental action by the Supreme Court, there was not a wide acceptance of gay marriage within certain parts of America. Since then, not only have people been more accepting towards gay marriage, but people are taking it a step further and examining gay rights as a whole. This includes rights such as parental rights. The New York Times covered a story in which a gay couple adopted a baby with intensions to raise him together. After breaking up, the biological mother attempted to deny the other mother the right to raise their son. The Supreme Court ruled that it would be inconsistent to deny a gay couple the same rights as a straight couple in regards to parental care. In the recent history of the United States, the historical particularism suggests it would have been thought nearly impossible for a gay couple to be allowed to legally marry each other let alone have and raise a family. The ideology of communities within the United States shifted from absolutely not allowing gay right to anyone, to giving them the same rights as straight people. The reconfiguration of this idea stems from the change in social and cultural constructionism. Symbols are constantly evolving and representing a new meaning which is how social change happens. • 25. Ethical Aspects of Torrents The ethical issues surrounding free video games are the same, with game developers and publishers claiming that game torrents are taking money out of their hands and the hands of their staff. Games are widely available for purchase and once purchased become property of the gamer. A game can range in price from a few dollars to around 60 dollars for AAA games (Games created by large companies on massive budgets). Video games are also almost exclusively downloaded through torrents as game files are usually very large and directly downloading can be cumbersome and time consuming. This is all very straightforward, but what happens if the user misplaces or loses the game disc? Since the game is already that person s property, would there be harm in downloading another game for free? The game developers say no, and that the game would have to be purchased once more. Many gamers, on the other hand, believe that they are entitled to a free download as they have already purchased the game once and the manufacturer will not be losing any revenue. This debate has been around for the last decades and as of late some developers (mostly indie) have started exclusively selling their product as a downloadable file. Sites like Steam and GOG.com provide the customer with a code after purchase that allows many, and sometimes unlimited, downloads. Video game piracy is not exclusive to computer games. • 27. Summary Of The Tone Of Carrt Sandburg Grass The Sorrowful Tone of Carl Sandburg Grass In the poem, Grass, Robert Sandburg gives a personification to the grass, and gives us a strong message about war. Sandburg mentions several wars and how after many years nature has done a good job on heal its fields after being extremely damaged due to war, but the pain that leaves to us is something that will never go away. On the first line, Sandburg starts his poem by giving us a disturbing image of the aftermath of war. The line Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo tells us how there were many casualties during these two wars. The battle of Austerlitz left more than fifteen thousand casualties not to mention the Battle of Waterloo which left more than twenty five thousand casualties. Although these wars occurred more than two hundred years ago, it is something still remembered in history, and at the time when all the tragedies occurred we can infer that it left many people grieving for the loss of their loved ones. Wars have always been disastrous, tragic events that end physically and emotionally the lives of many people, including adults and children. Going back to the poem, the grass is the narrator of the poem and by reading the first line we can deduce that it, the grass, tells the remaining soldiers, or the people taking care of the dead bodies, to pile them up because having them spread out across the field would probably would take up a lot of space that could be needed for other soldiers or medics. What Is The Narrative Voice In The Great Gatsby The comparison of narrative voices and protagonists in both The Great Gatsby and Sonnets of the Portuguese reveals the universal value of love, yet its capacity is determined by context and value systems. The Great Gatsby and Sonnets of the Portuguese depict the contrasting contexts of Fitzgerald and Barrett Browning. The narrative voices makes this evident; both composers are parallels to the narrative voices within the texts.
