The Development Of The Psyche
As a child, people are in the most delicate phase of life. They are a freshly budded lily, absorbing all
the light, moisture, and nutrients possible in order to bloom into an adult. These essential fertilizers
predominantly come from their parents, who nurture them into the person they will become. This unit
commonly consists of a mother and father. The mother a symbol of intimacy and maternal comfort,
and the father a symbol of strength and stature. The balance of this yin and yang is extremely
important for the development of the psyche. Having a fatherless childhood or a childhood with a
degenerate father is common in today s society. The effects of not having a father figure ripple through
childhood and lay roots in the subconscious. There are two types of a fatherless childhood. Some grow
up without a father in their life entirely, without any knowledge of who he may have been. Others
grow up with a father in their life that does more destructive impact than constructive impact. Some
may say that a destructive parent is still a parent to their child, but arguably a parent without
constructive development to their spawn is not a parent at all. This hollow in a child s life leaves a
space for destructive energy to breed. Many challenges adults face within themselves reflect back into
their childhood. The subconscious is the seed left over from the lily s bloom, which died along with
childhood innocence. The fight to gain back said innocence is the ultimate struggle.

An Understanding Of The Minds Of Madness
An Understanding In To the Minds of Madness Dr. Jamison the author of An Unquiet Mind,
recaptures her life in the world of manic depressive disorder, later to be categorized as bipolar 1. She
explains in great detail the symptoms she undergoes through her life and how they affected her
everyday living. Besides the recount of her symptoms divulges how she coped and overcame the
obstacles of her disorder. She also allows the reader to know the struggles she had with her treatments
as she went through life till she was able to follow her own treatment plan. Dr. Jamison started out life
raised in a military family with a history of mental illness, though not one of discussing such
problems, Jamison first dealt with intense moods during high school. These experiences escalated
during her undergraduate years and by the time Jamison entered her mid twenties manic depression
had taken over her life. Her first onset of symptoms in high school was when she was dealing with the
black and chaotic moods (35) of her father (Jamison, 1995). At that time she started to notice around
sixteen or seventeen, her own ups and downs that mimicked her fathers. Her ups were of little sleep
and exhausting to those around her, while her downs as she puts it became really dark and on the
brooding side of life (35) (Jamison, 1995). Her symptoms meeting the criteria for manic episodes with
(1) decreased need for sleep, (2) flight of ideas or subjective experience that thoughts are racing,

The s Covert Operations Against The Marxist Sandinista...
However, when Casey increased the agency s covert operations against the Marxist Sandinista
government in Nicaragua by funneling aid to the contras, the anti Sandinista rebels, Congress became
concern of the CIA involvement in Central America. Hence, in 1982 it passed Boland amendment
prohibiting the agency from aiding the contras. , Casey continued to find ways to evade the
amendment (Encyclopedia of World Biography, 2010).
On January 7, 1984 and February 29, 1984, the CIA mined several harbors in Nicaragua. Later, during
the spring of 1984, Congress found out about the agency s mining of Nicaragua s harbors, which
created a serious backlash against aiding the contras. Consequently, on August 1, 1984, the House of
Representatives passed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Boland II became law, two ways for the administration was identified to bypass the law. One
way was to solicit third party funds from private donors or third countries, and the second way to use
the White House National Security Council (NSC) since the council was not covered under Boland II
(Ross, 2010).
To this day, the exact role of President Reagan in the Iran Contra scandal is unclear. However, it
appears that in July 1985, in a strategic attempt to build relationship with some moderate elements
within Iran s regime, and to secure the release of seven American hostages held by Iranian backed
Shiite extremists in Lebanon, Reagan ordered an operation to sell arms to Iran, which violated the
U.S. arms sales embargo against Iran s regime. Congressional committees that later investigated the
Iran Contra affair concluded that the shredding of the documents and the death of Casey, left the
record incomplete.
It appears that due to Congress s oversight on the CIA s covert operations, initially, the agency was not
officially involved in the affair. Casey later testified to Congress that he was unaware of all the details
and the agency only had a supporting role (Encyclopedia of World Biography, 2010). Nevertheless,
Casey was viewed as a central figure in the agency s involvement in the affair. From August 1985 to
October 1986, seven arms shipments were sent using Israeli and CIA planes. On December 6, 1985,

The Tyger By William Blake
The coexistence of good and evil has caused many people throughout time to question their God and
the way the world is. William Blake s compilation of poems called the Songs of Innocence and
Experience questions the good and evil in the daily lives of human beings. This collection of poems
includes The Tyger, a partnered poem in the series with The Lamb. Blake offers a new way of
interpreting God through His creations in The Tyger. Blake demonstrates the fierceness of the tyger s
creator throughout the poem. The tyger is viewed as a vicious creature that people view as a threat to
their lives in many cases. A creature so evil to be created by a God depicted as loving baffles many
people, Blake included it would seem. The narrator asks, What immortal hand or eye / Could frame
thy fearful symmetry? (3, 4) This question is asked throughout Blake s poem with the answer alluded
to at the end. Blake wonders how the same God who made such a gentle lamb could make such a
frightening and blood thirsty creature like that of the evil tiger. The narrator uses imagery of the tiger
being forged like one would forge a weapon. What the hammer? what the chain? / In what furnace was
thy brain? (13, 14) These lines give an idea of the tiger being used as a weapon forged by God to show
the power and fierceness that he holds. One may assume he forged such evil to strike fear and
obedience in his followers. The image given to the reader is God as a blacksmith, hammering his
creation in to

observer of the broken and damaged psyche of the modern individual. Roper mentioned that The
poem is spoken by a young man who describes three visits to an older lady who treats him as friend
though at the end she declares that the friendship has failed (Roper,2007, 42)
The same approach of the dramatic monologue has been applied in Portrait of a Lady out of Eliot s
own experience with a maid in Harvard university canteen, T.S.Eliot as Conrad akin has explained that
adelen Moffat was miss x that poem is about.
The poem supports the theme of the meaningless relationships, and now the neglect ion by the young
man on the account of the older lady, who gropes in vain for communication. Such effects can call
upon the futility of the relationship that may exist between the modern man and woman. The
descriptions of the events suggest that the poem also lacks a cohesive plat, yet still unified by the tone
of tragedy of the woman. There is no outcome of the Endeavour in this poem. There was no

Besides the other source is attributed to Henry James novella The beast in the Jungle (1903) in that
novella the protagonist finds out at the end that the lady was in love with him after she already was
dead. In his remarks raine explained the idea of the failure to live and now Eliot used the death theme
to support that as follow. In Portrait of A Lady, Eliot ironically apportions to the lady the cliché of
death as the end of life s journey. She refers to herself as one about to reach her journey s end
(Raine,2006, 37)In this case the suffering and the yearning for communication by woman lady as it is

Summary Of Mere Christianity
Liar, Lunatic, or Lord? You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon;
or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing
nonsense about His being a great moral teacher. He has not left it open to us. He did not intend to.
(Lewis 78.) In Mere Christianity, Lewis talks about the silliness of accepting Jesus as another great
moral teacher. According to Lewis, we must all make a choice to call Jesus liar, lunatic, or Lord.
...What should we make of a man, himself unrobbed and untrodden on, who announced that he
forgave you for treading on other men s toes and stealing other men s money? (Lewis 78.) What
ordinary man would be able to do this?. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lewis says that Jesus has two of the character traits that all men struggle with, humbleness and
meekness. Even the great Confucius and Socrates, people who we consider to be great teachers, had
problems with humility and meekness. So what Lewis is saying is that it is foolish to compare Jesus to
the common man. It clearly makes no sense. In John 9, it talks about Jesus healing the blind man,
Bartimaeus. ...while I am in the world, I am the light of the world...He spit on the ground, made some
mud with the saliva and put it on the man s eyes... wash in the pool of Siloam Jesus said. So the man
went, and came home seeing. John 9:5 7. What common great moral teacher could do that? Now
anyone may easily think, This man is a straight lunatic. Now no longer can He be a liar because He
proved His power. If you have seen any insane people, you will notice that they don t speak the same
way Jesus did. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you (Mt. 5:44.) Jesus spoke to
change the lives of millions of people. Calling him a lunatic would completely contradict the idea of
accepting Him as a great moral teacher. Therefore once again you have been proven

Ghost Singer By Anna Lee Walters
Ghost Singer by Anna Lee Walters is a tale of the historical injustices suffered by Indigenous peoples
and the modern consequences of those injustices. Although it is clear that the spirit people in the novel
serve as the most outwardly fearsome people in the novel, it is important to take into account the
overall systemic injustices that the characters of Native American heritage suffer under throughout the
histories presented in the novel. Walters addresses fearsomeness and sympathetic characters through
the use of dangerous characters and situations presented directly and indirectly to the characters. The
fearsomeness of the characters and the sympathy felt for the characters is dependent upon the
perspectives of the readers since these fearsome figures are a cultural construct and a projection of that
cultures fears (Cohen 1). The fearsome figures in the novels are presented to initially be the spirits
haunting the artifacts, but upon closer examination the larger more entrenched issue of outdated
models of thought in relation to Indigenous peoples appear to be the most important fearsome figure.
The protagonist of the novel is dependent upon the views taken, and the fearsome figures that the
historians, such as David Evans, and characters are attempting aid the spirits, such as George
Daylight. Walters addresses the fearsome nature of a system dependent on examining and judging
indigenous societies based on white values, which is problematic since both cultures do not

Choosing The Sex Of Their Offspring
History and evolution have always been key informants referenced in aiding basic individuals to make
life altering decisions. Most folks typically favor delving into verdicts others have made in the past to
see what the likelihood of success is for their upcoming rulings. Researching and educating one s self
can prevent possible catastrophes, mishaps that are generally unnecessary. Due to previous
generations decisions, histories, and evolutionary advances, it is unquestionable and clear that parents
should not be allowed to choose the sex of their offspring. Some may argue however that there are
many benefits to choosing the sex of their offspring, such as family planning, control or avoiding
genetic disorders, and overall parental gratification. By being able to choose the sex of one s child,
families can, in theory, accurately plan how many boys or girls they birth, when they desire to produce
them, and how spread apart the children are in age. By choosing the sex of their children, parents
fundamentally have complete and total control over what their family lineage will look like and
consist of. Some may even argue that this type of control is socially responsible and beneficial in
terms of parental satisfaction.
This argument stems from the idea that individuals are more likely to take care of their belongings if
they desired said belongings when they were acquired. According to GENDER PREFERENCE,
Biased article, parents who have children that match their preference

How Does Poverty Affect Children
Poverty can affect children in many ways, including school, career, and life troubles. Children who
grow up in poor households are statically proven to be less successful. There is an obvious connection
between poor children also being poor adults. It is not necessarily the child s fault. As much as people
may want to believe that you create your own future, people are often products of their circumstances.
If opportunity is not presented, there is nowhere to go.
Poverty stricken families have an obvious disadvantage. They have less access to the resources it takes
to succeed. They do not have access to extra help should their child need it or access to learning tools.
Poor children are more likely to drop out and score lower on standardized tests which could be
attributed to the environment they have grown up in. If a child is taught his whole life that being poor
is all be can amount to, he starts to believe it. Even if he is not told this, children tend to view their

If a person is not given opportunity to succeed, he never will. Growing up, poor children are rarely
treated as if they will amount to anything. They are treated like they do not deserve the same
opportunities more successful families do. If a child is never taught that he can accomplish things, he
never will. He will grow into an adult thinking unsuccessful is all he will ever be. This notion doesn t
make for a lot of motivation towards a career. Well endowed families also tend to have more influence
and connections paving an easier path for their children. These children find it easy to make a way for
themselves because the opportunity is readily presented to them; they need only reach out and take it.
The less fortunate do not have this same opportunity making for a much more difficult path to success.
These children have to work much harder for every milestone

Dragon In Beowulf
Seeing Beowulf wounded, Wiglaf rushes forth and stabs the dragon a little lower down. As the poet is
too polite to say, Wiglaf took better aim than Beowulf did, and thus weakened the dragon to the point
where the old man could go in for the kill.
Beowulf has not lost his touch: He ripped up the serpent. That s the end of the dragon the Geatish
knights unceremoniously dump the body over a cliff but it s also the end of Beowulf.
Tolkien may have put away his translation of Beowulf, but about a decade later he published a paper
that many people regard as not just the finest essay on the poem but one of the finest essays on
English literature.
Another aspect of Beowulf that critics seeking a tidier poem deplore is the constant switching

Pathophysiology Paper
Pneumonia
Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lung which results into an excess of fluid or pus accumulating
into the alveoli of the lung. Pneumonia impairs gas exchange which leads to hypoxemia and is acquire
by inhaling a contagious organism or an irritating agent. (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013). Fungal,
bacteria and viruses are the most common organisms that can be inhale. Pneumonia could be
community acquired or health care associated. Community acquired pneumonia (CAP) occurs out of a
healthcare facility while health care associated pneumonia (HAP) is acquired in a healthcare facility.
HAP are more resistant to antibiotic and patients on ventilators and those receiving kidney dialysis
have a higher risk factor. Infants, children and the elderly also have a higher risk of acquiring
pneumonia due to their immune system inability to fight the virus. Pneumonia can also be classified as
aspiration pneumonia if it arises by inhaling saliva, vomit, food or drink into the lungs. Patients with
abnormal gag reflex, dysphagia, brain injury, and are abusing drug or alcohol have a higher risk of
aspiration pneumonia (Mayo Clinic, 2013). In the case of patient E.O., this patient had rhonchi in the

Kant s The Three Fold Synthesis
Kant believed that there are different concepts and intuitions in which intuitions are put under
concepts. Kant refers these intuitions into what he calls the three fold synthesis. Kant describes the
three fold synthesis as the capacities in the understanding to compare, connect, and unify the
fragmentary manifold items in intuition (A97). To put it in different terms, the three fold synthesis
describes the necessary components for intuition of what is happening in the outside world. It allows
us to Kant believed that the three fold synthesis is divided into three different types of synthesis.
According to Kant, it is required that all of the synthesis work in unison in order for experience to
happen. Experience is what makes possible the synthesis of apprehension, in return makes the
possibility of the synthesis of reproduction, which creates the possibility of the synthesis of
recondition. Therefore, Kant argues, the synthesis of recondition is contingent on experience. Kant
also stated that for each of the three fold synthesis, there are both empirical and pure levels. In other
words, each of the three fold synthesis have two ways of being interpreted in the mind, one based on
our intellects because it is gathered through experience, and another based upon the fact that the
manifold works in unison with the others and are dependent on each other for experience to happen.
The first of the three fold synthesis is called the synthesis of apprehension. The

Technology And The Social Construction Of A Younger...
Globilisation is a continually growing and increasing factor in our everyday lives. As technology
improves, the ability for people to communicate increases. The transfer of ideas, information and the
sharing of cultures becomes exceedingly simple. As technology improves the people using that
technology have access to a much wider experience of the world than previously would have been
possible. In this way as each generation grows up in a globalised world, the factors that influence their
social queues, their ability to choose peers, and what is accessible in popular culture, vastly changes
the dynamic that a younger generation would have in comparison to the generation that came before
them. Globilisation is an extremely important factor in the social construction of a younger
generations culture.
The second half of the twentieth century has been a period of massive human migration, both locally
and internationally. This period also saw a huge increase in the transfer of information and ideas
between different countries through various forms of communication, the most predominant in recent
periods being the internet. (Kaufman, 2002, 13) Migrations, and the transfers of new ideas and
information, can bring many different opportunities for the many different generations of family
members. It is common for older family members to find adjustment to a new cultures challenging,
however, younger family members can experience it more readily and in a number of different ways.

Bob Dylan And The Definition Of Success
Everything present in the universe is a relatable term just like the word success . Like most of the
definitions, the interpretation of success varies with the people s perception so it is rather impossible
to understand success in a simple way. In the present era, most of the people relate success with the
materialistic achievements such as wealth, power and fame while some prefer to evaluate success by
assessing the contribution of the person to the society. Many great poets, politicians, writers and
songwriters have inked their own version of the definition of success and one of the great many quotes
by Bob Dylan is A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in

Some may also argue that happiness is never genuinely attainable and it is an abstract feeling than a
quantifiable one. Unquestionably, a person has to be very patient and persist to go through a different
route rather than the one previously determined by the society to really reach their dream destination
but one must differentiate between attainable dream and mere illusion. An entrepreneur has to be able
to distinguish what can be more marketable among the things that they love. Following an illusion will
only lead the person to failure and oust them from the real world without bringing any joy to both the
person and the society so it really necessary to go after the real

Astrological Emptiness in Steve Almond’s “The Problem of...
In Steve Almond s story The Problem of Human Consumption , it revolves around the theme of loss,
morning, and grief. Almond s story focuses on a widowed father who is passed on to raise his
daughter single handily. The story discussed a day in which feelings of morning and deception are
brought out among the characters. The feelings of loss, morning and grief in this story have greatly
manifested the way this story was written and interpreted. After breaking down Almond s story and
reanalyzing it, it can be determined that through his use of the parallel of astrology (space) mixed with
his way of selective word choice and use of symbolism that he is able to strongly and effectively
support his work.
According to the Oxford dictionary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In one scene, Paul, the father, is holding his deceased wife s wedding ring, which, appears to be
suspended in the air. He talks about it as seeming to be suspended and defies the law of gravity . When
he discovers the ring, it is narrated that, The hair is looped through the band, actually in a way that
when he holds both ends the ring is suspended. He...the ring is defying the law of gravity (Almond
144). Relating back to astrology, objects that are in dimensional space are suspended due to the
properties of space and the law of gravity . The parallel of astrology that the author use has to do with
space , that space which is being mirrored would be the void (emptiness, another form of space) that
Paul and Jess have due to the loss they re both facing, the loss of his wife also her mother. The space
in which the suspended ring creates through it, serves as a mirror to the void which both character
face. Symbolically, the void is represented with the dead wife s wedding ring. Analytically, the ring is
missing the space in which it use to occupy. Here again recurs the theme of space relating to the most
symbolic object throughout the story, the wedding ring. The author used this parallel of astrology in
order emphases one of the vastest, curiosity striking, mystery to be discovered, which is space in terms
of astrological space, but along paralleling to the space of emptiness (in terms of loss of a love one).
He does this in order to analogously relate it to his

Colorism And African-American Culture
Colorism is a form of prejudice in which people are treated differently based on skin color. The
subject matter of colorism can be greatly argued amongst the African American culture. Because of
the direct biased attitudes towards skin color there has been a manifestation of internal oppression
within the Black race. According to the article, The Persistent Problem of Colorism: Skin Tone, Status,
and Inequality (Hunter 2007), researchers confirmed that fair skinned people have clear advantages
over dark skinned people in areas such as education, politics and income. Nevertheless, dark skinned
people of color are more genuine and approved than fair skinned people. Colorism has had a

Self esteem plays a major role in colorism because it affects how you see and feel about yourself, how
you treat yourself, and your actual behaviors in various situations. Studies that examined skin color in
the lives of 123 African American adolescents (aged 11 19 years) found complexion to be related to
self esteem, but the study also brought additional complexity to the issue. Students who self reported
as lighter or darker had lower levels of satisfaction with their skin color than did students whose skin
color was classified as somewhere in between . (Davis, 2015). Colorism can affect how we are judged
by other African Americans. For African American girls, self evaluation may be seen as a liking for
physical characteristics that they believe will be judged more favorably (i.e., lighter skin color, longer
hair, and passionate features, etc.). This might cause a risk for African American girls who may not
follow this standard. Higher sexual risk and substance abuse behavior by African American girls can
be contributed to internalizing colorism attitudes. Skin bleaching is another important risk behavior.
Skin bleaching is widely known throughout the Caribbean, Africa, and in the United States, posing
several serious and negative health effects on the human body, including mercury poisoning,
permanent thinning of the skin, premature aging of the skin, increased risk of skin

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Texas Chainsaw Massacre Helped with the Expansion of the LGBT Movement
Texas Chainsaw Massacre pushes the boundaries of cinematic horror. The movie has the viewers infer
the gore and deaths of some of the characters. It does not show the blood or the dismembering of the
victim, but the viewer still feels as if they watched it actually happen. The director Tobe Hooper has
the viewer realize on their own the hidden messages within his film. The film has been correlated to
the representation of the slaughterhouse thus promoting vegetarianism. Also has been related to the
Vietnam War with America sending its youth to the war where they will die. It even has been
compared to the draft, and the ways American youth would try to escape it. These theories ... Show

Losing a loved one can be incredibly devastating, and when the person has asked to be cremated, it
can be a confusing and surreal process. Pre funeral arrangements can be made with the burial

the affordable cremation services by a burial and cremation specialist, you ll want to consider your
loved one s wishes. If this person has requested a certain location because they were happy there, it s
important to honor those wishes. They might have requested a direct cremation, which means you can

Financial Forecasting: Riverview Community Hospital
Alpine Village Clinic is a small walk in clinic located next to the primary ski area of Alpine Village, a
winter resort close to Aspen, Colorado. The clinic specializes in treating injuries sustained while
skiing. It is owned and operated by two physicians: James Peterson, an orthopedist, and Amanda
Cook, an internist (Gapenski and Pink, 2009). The clinic has an outside accountant who takes care of
payroll matters, but Dr. Cook does all the other financial work for the clinic. However, to help in that
task, the clinic recently hired a part time MBA student, Doug Washington.

Daily billings are 20%, 20%, 60% collection based monthly and the lease payment is made on the first
of the month (Gapenski and Pink, 2009). Variable medical costs at the clinic are assumed to consist
entirely of medical and administrative supplies. These supplies, which are estimated to cost 15 percent
of billings, are purchased two months before expected usage. On average, the clinic pays about half of
its suppliers in the month of purchase and the other half in the following month (Gapenski and Pink,
2009).
Clinical labor costs are the primary expense of the clinic. During the high season (December through
March), these costs run $150,000 a month, but some of the clinical staff work only seasonally, so
clinical labor costs drop to $120,000 a month in the remaining months (Gapenski and Pink, 2009). The
clinic pays fixed general and administrative expenses, including clerical labor, of approximately
$30,000 a month, while lease obligations amount to $12,000 per month. These expenditures are
expected to continue at the same level throughout the forecast period. The clinic s miscellaneous
expenses are estimated to be $10,000 monthly.
The clinic has a semi annual, five year, 10 percent, $500,000 term loan outstanding with First Bank.
Payments of $64,752 are due on March 15 and September 15. Also, the clinic is planning to replace an
old x ray machine in February with a new one that costs $125,000

Secession Of The Texas Economy
In today s society with so many disagreements between the state and federal government going on the
thought crosses some Texans minds about secession. The movement, headed by the Texas Nationalist
Movement and the Tea Party, is seeking to remove the state from the union and institute Texas as a
new country. Many questions arise over the topic of secession covering topics such as economy,
currency, population, and if Texas would be helped or hurt by leaving the United States federal
government behind. It has been shown that Texas has a much larger population than many countries as
well as gold to back a currency should it decide to create one. The Texas economy is extremely strong
with a mass of exports and natural resources being gathered in the state. These natural resources tied
with other products made in Texas give the state one of the strongest economies in the world. Even
with all this knowledge the question over secession still persists. The Texas economy stands 12th in
the world and stands as a reason that secession might be possible. From minerals to gemstones, oil to
natural gas, and animal products to the creation of electrical equipment the Texas economy stands
strong even when other parts of the world are struggling. Among the natural resources are 16 ports
whose economic impact on the United States totals in the billions. For the past decade, Texas has been
the top state for foreign exports. Last year, they totaled $265 billion, according to data from the

Advertisements And The Appeal Of Fear
Dionne Delgado Ms.Westmoreland Green ENGL 1321 02 April 22, 2016 Advertisements and the
Appeal to Fear Advertisements can be positive and negative in a person s day to day life.
Advertisements are all around us. Advertisements can be found on t.v., internet, magazines and on
billboards. Some of these advertisements help decide what people should spend money on. Those
advertisements give people so many different choices on what clothes and makeup people want to buy,
what different foods are out there to satisfy the different cravings people have or what exotic vacation
destination to take. The one advertisement that sticks out the most to me are the advertisements about
drinking and driving. Advertisers and Advertisements use the fear appeal to get these driver s attention
to stop and face the reality of what drinking and driving will do to themselves and to others. Drinking
and driving is a huge problem. When you are under the influence of alcohol you are putting yourself
and others at risk for injuries and even death. Budweiser created a commercial Simply Put with actress
Helen Mirren during the 2016 super bowl. Budweiser wanted to use this commercial to convey the

T. E. Lawrence s Seven Pillars of Wisdom is the memoir of a British junior officer during the Allied
campaign against the Turks during the First World War. A remarkable work that remains germane in
the current operating environment, Seven Pillars was not the book that Lawrence intended to write
upon embarking on his adventures in southwest Asia. He had drafted a book on seven great cities of
the Middle East but lost his initial text prior to completion. As a tribute to this work Lawrence
maintained the title, which he derived from the Bible, Proverbs 9:1, Wisdom hath builded a house, she
hath hewn out her seven pillars although not relevant to his seminal writing. Lawrence captures many
essential aspects of war. He depicts war as brief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although untrained for his role in the Arab Revolt, Lawrence demonstrates a firm grasp of
Clausewitzian principles and their presence in the campaign. Writing while directed to bed rest,
Lawrence develops his text s arguably most significant chapter. In it he cautions strategists from
thinking in a linear manner while contending that one must holistically view the environment if one is
to succeed in shaping it. Lawrence describes this approach as the Algebraical element of things, a
Biological element of lives, and the Psychological element of ideas . He asserts that viewing events
through an algebraic lens enables him to encounter, known variables, fixed conditions, space and time,
inorganic things... with mankind in type masses too great for individual variety with all artificial aids
and the extensions given our faculties by mechanical invention. His ability to comprehend his tactical
means as a mathematical component of the strategic ends enabled fluidity and tempo in Arab action
while generating frustration in his enemy.
Lawrence interprets Maneuver Warfare by likening armies to firm rooted plants while the Arabs were,
a vapour, blowing where we listed. He advocated his forces be, an influence, an idea, a think
intangible, invulverable, without front or back, drifting about like a gas . Countering the conventional
wisdom of the time Lawrence viewed

To Kill A Mockingbird Courage
Courage is a difficult thing for people to do in real life. Some people may say courage is people who
have strong bodies and hearts. The others would say it is someone who tells the truth instead of
avoiding it. In To Kill A Mockingbird courage is presented by standing up to your fears and helping
people that need help. Early in the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Jem shows courage by
touching Boo Radley s porch. In the waning moonlight I saw Him swing his feet to the floor. I m
going after them he said. I sat upright, you can t I won t let you. He was struggling into his shirt, I ve
got to. You do and i ll wake Atticus. You do and i ll kill you. Jem lost his pants on the Radley fence by
making a raid on the property in the hope of catching a glimpse of Boo from the back window of the
Radley House. Atticus would demand to see the pants the next morning, so Jem knew he had to get
them back. He also didn t want to lose Atticus s trust in him, or be punished further. This is an
example of curage because Jem knew if he didn t show Atticus the pants the next morning Atticus

My Long-Term Aerobic Goal
Over the term of the semester, I was able to fully achieve my fitness goals (and then some), due to a
well structured workout plan, persistence and continued exercise throughout the semester, and
reasonable goals. Due to this I was able to significantly improve my cardio and core strength. My long
term aerobic goal was to be able to run the 1.5 mile benchmark run in 9 minutes and 30 seconds, a 3
minute improvement over my initial 11:48 that I tested at initially. I thought this was a reasonable goal
over the course of 1 semester given a consistent amount of practice. I met this goal about ¾ into the
semester and was able to consistently run the 1.5 miles every workout session in about 9:10. My
aerobic workout schedule consisted of going outside and running the 1.5 mile course every session,
pushing myself to my limits every time and thus incrementally improving my time. I found tht the
most difficult aspect was to master my own self effort, as my own internal effort seemed to make the
difference between a terrible time and a fantastic, fast, run. Once I was able to control this, however,
my times became consistent, and I met my goals every day. My times slowly decreased until I was ...

The Benefits Of Real Property In Mexico
Canadians and North Americans are buying more property in Mexico than ever before. This is partly
because the Mexican government has been making it much easier. In 1973 the Mexican government
changed their foreign investment law to allow non Mexican nationals to buy real estate anywhere in
Mexico except the Restricted Zone (which is located within 31 miles from the coastline and 62 miles
from its borders). In 1993 the law was amended to allow foreigners to buy real property in the
Restricted Zone by using a Fideicomiso which is a trust agreement established with a Mexican bank.

trustee. The bank then, as trustee, has a fiduciary responsibility ... Show more content on

private lenders. Credit scores can also have an impact like they do here in the United States. Paying all
cash upfront is simple, easy, and the norm in the past but financing is becoming more available.
Seller financing is very popular and works basically the same as it does here in the United States. But
there is also another type of seller financing called: Reserve of Domain. It is typically used if the
buyer has all the money to purchase the property, but it is tied up in assets and isn t liquefiable at the
time of sale. One example would be if the foreign buyer has the money in an IRA and is only
permitted to withdraw a small portion without being penalized. The Reserve of Domain is easier and
cheaper to set up than an ordinary mortgage. The buyer pays the seller most of the sales price for the
property. Then the buyer and the seller enter an agreement regarding the payment of the remainder of
the sales price. The deed is then put in Reserve by a Notario Publico. When the buyer pays the seller
the balance along with the interest that was agreed upon, the seller contacts the Notario Publico and
signs off that he s been paid. The Notario Publico then goes to the Public Registry of Property and lifts
the Reserve from the deed.

The Most Comprehensive Global Route Network
The combined United Continental Holdings competes on the basis of having what it terms the most
comprehensive global route network , modern planes, and an industry leading loyalty program
(UnitedContinentalHoldings.com, 2012). The merger between two struggling airlines was announced
in 2010, and the United brand is going to be the one that is most prominent going forward. There have
recently been some minor implementation problems in unwinding the Continental name (Martin,
2012).
While it is difficult, to some extent, to evaluate the success of a merger that is only just now entering
its final implementation phases, it is known that the objective of that merger was to use the larger
route network to attract more business, and that the combined airline would also extract cost savings
as the result of increased operational efficiency. The airline had struggled in 2009, with its sales
declining, but it recovered in 2010 and 2011. Sales last year were $33.678 billion, up from $21.068
billion the year before. In the past two years, the company has turned a profit, going from $253
million in net income in FY2010 to $840 million in net income in FY2011. Some of this improvement
may stem from the impact of the merger. However, the airline industry is highly cyclical, and the past
two years have represented economic improvement. Likewise, the losses the company faced in
FY2008 and FY2009 were as much the result of the economic downturn as they were internal
business factors.

In the re telling of the Fa Mu Lan myth, Kinston shows the strengths and warrior like abilities of her
character, rather than the weaknesses her mother scares her with, in the story of the No Name Woman.
When we Chinese girls listened to the adults talk story, we learned that we failed if we grew up to be
but wives or slaves. Fa Mu Lan helps her get out of the circle of the average subservient Chinese
woman and strive to be something better than a housewife or a slave. She gets an abundance of
inspiration from the heroine in the myth, pretending the hero is she. Kingston is inspired to break the
mold of the typical Chinese woman. From this myth she learns that it is ok to be different, to be a
Chinese American woman. She proves to herself that she can be whoever she wants

Jason Reid Meaning
In this essay I m going to be writing about the variations, patterns and wishes recipe of The Three and
Many Wishes of Jason Reid I will also be comparing The Three And Many Wishes Of Jason Reid to
The Old Woman Who Lived In A Vinegar Bottle and The Fisherman And His Wife . The book that we
read is called The Three and Many Wishes of Jason Reid and in this book is an eleven year old
elementary school kid who got granted three wishes from Quicksilver, The Elster Of The Third Order .
So as Jason was wishing for his three wishes, he was being greedy and wished for three more wishes
and Elster Of The Third Order I think there s a lot more variations than pattern as Jason is different
and smarter than all the other characters in these stories,he also does not wish dumb wishes and is not
really greedy except when he wished for the in the garage like the bike and fish(etc). ... Show more

I noticed at the start they all meet a special character (like a fish). Aswell in all the stories they messed
up the 3rd wish. On page 38 and 39 of The Old Woman Who Lived In A Vinegar Bottle , she was sent
back to her old vinegar bottle because she had been very greedy! In the story s The Three and Many
Wishes of Jason Reid , The Old Woman Who Lived In A Vinegar Bottle and The Fisherman and His
Wife the last wish they wished for was huge in The Fisherman And His Wife on line 157 the woman
had wished to be God.. At one point in all of these books i ve been talking about they all go on a rapid
spree of wishing for different thing like a ten speed bike or a mansion, around p24 Of The Old Woman

Puritan Origins Of The American Wilderness Movement Summary
Many people that go out and enjoy the wilderness or the outdoors head to those places because they
need to get away from the world and relax. The opportunity you have to go out and enjoy these
beautiful areas all started with the beginning of this country by many men and their ideas and views of
the outdoors. I will conduct a rhetorical analysis of J. Baird Callicott and Priscilla Solis Ybarra s
article, The Puritan Origins of the American Wilderness Movement, and critique there use of rhetorical
appeals in order to show that their article was written successfully. J. Baird Callicott and Priscilla Solis
Ybarra are both professors at the University of North Texas and the situation they are explaining is
that the wilderness was once seen as a wild place filled with beasts that couldn t be tamed. They
include the view points and work of great foresters like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Henry David Thoreau, a lifelong contrarian who regularly ridiculed the conventional
attitudes and values of his New England contemporaries (Calliscott, Ybarra). The people that did not
care what people thought about their ideas were the ones that made this country a beautiful place. The
character that Calliscott and Ybarra come off as to me is people who care about the history of this
country and its wilderness. They include positive examples to help get there point across like, It was
their God ordained destiny to transform the dismal American wilderness into an earthly paradise,
governed according to the Word of God (Calliscott, Ybarra). The American wilderness was compared
to a paradise and should be governed to the Word of God has a positive and biblical meaning because
many people practice their religion as they please and comparing the wilderness to the Word of God is

Chanel s Influence On American Culture
If an individual were to walk the streets of Paris, they would find an abundance of cultural beauties
just waiting to be explored. As this wayfarer walks, they absorb the Gothic architecture, with arches
and some stain glass window. A prominent travel destination, Paris services all vacation needs.
Included in this list are modern hotels, classic dining, and an immense amount of shopping.
Exploration can take the place of many scheduled activities on a trip. Parisian culture revolves around
historic architecture, modern fashion, and the Catacombs.
One of the most interesting and symbolic structures in Paris is the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower was
finished by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel in March of 1889 (Green 64 65). Alexander started the modern,

Vuitton was born on August 4, 1821, to a farmer and a milliner (Louis Vuitton N.P.). Vuitton was
never considered special in his childhood, however he became someone that the whole world knew.
When he was ten, his mother died and his father remarried a horrid woman who forced Louis to run
away to Paris (Louis Vuitton N.P.). Vuitton s childhood was such a Cinderella story; he was always
treated badly and was neglected. He ran away at age 13 in 1835, and traveled 292 miles, stopping for
odd jobs along the way, and he arrived in the spring of 1837, when he was 16 (Louis Vuitton N.P.). He
was smart enough to earn money along the way so that he was presentable and well fed when he
reached Paris. Vuitton was innovative and imaginative on his way to becoming world

Sandy V. Mark Case Brief
RELIANCE LAWYERS
TO: Client
FROM: Christine Bulos
SUBJECT: Sandy V Mark
DATE: 17th April 2017
CC: Partners@reliancelawyers.com.au
PURPOSE:
This memorandum analyses the contractual dealings between our client, Sandy, and Mark to
determine whether equitable and proprietary estoppel is applicable in this case, and whether the
promise Mark made to Sandy in regards to subdividing his land must be upheld.
SUMMARY:
QUESTION 1A) It will be argued that estoppel is definitely applicable in this case as no contract was
formally created by the two parties due to the lack of a formal written agreement , the intention to
create legal relations and the absence of sufficient consideration therefore what was communicated
between the two parties is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Factors present that support this notion are the lack of a formal written agreement, the intention to
create legal relations wasn t present, and insufficient consideration.
Mark had promised to subdivide his land and transfer the ownership of the cottage you were living in
as a tenant to your name, and in effect encouraged you to disregard seeking a settlement with Pat as
well as substantially improve his cottage. This thus encouraged an induced assumption to be made
which you relied upon. Mark did not do enough to prevent your impending detriment from occurring
regardless of his initial knowledge and intention made. We will therefore use these factors to our
advantage and base the cause of action and arguments made on these.
As your lawyer, my main concern is to seek relief in the form of obtaining the cottage property for you
rather than monetary damages as that has been established to be of your main concern as substantial
improvements were made to the cottage using your own money as well as it being the initial
agreement between Mark and

The Problem Posing By Paulo Freire
Classroom experiences are like polyatomic ions: some are positive while others are negative. While
the majority of the experiences at the West Genesee School District have been positive, I can recollect
one experience that was particularly negative. During the duration of my Advanced Placement global
history course, I was the subject in a class, that, by definition, would be closer to the problem posing
classroom that Paulo Freire describes in his piece The Banking Concept of Education . In his works,
Paulo Freire asserts that the problem posing education makes them [the students] critical thinkers
(Freire 221). As Freire describes, a class that implements the problem posing policy is one in which
students are to become critical thinkers. Freire would have been ecstatic that other educators carried
out his ideas in their own problem posing classroom. My teacher me made it unequivocal that this
class was going to challenge the way we analyzed and understood history. The teacher continued to
describe the role of the student in the classroom; the educator expected the pupil to analyze readings
and argue about what the pupil deemed to be the most important concepts presented. Regardless of the
content, Egyptian hieroglyphics or Genghis Kahn, while the students studied history, the teacher
insisted that the students evaluated the relationships between the causes, effects, and relevance of
various topics throughout the course. In addition, the student prepared to discuss

The Psychology Of Cancer And Cancer
In this essay I will be discussing the psychology of cancer. More than 270,000 people are diagnosed
with cancer each year in the UK. Cancer is the cause of a quarter of all UK deaths, and well over a
third of all deaths in adults under 65 (Cancer Research UK, 2004). It is a deadly illness, in 2012, an
estimated 14.1 million new cases of cancer occurred worldwide and an estimated 8.2 million people
died from cancer. Around 12,500 cancers in the UK each year are linked to alcohol with smoking
causing nearly a fifth of all cancers (including over 80% of lung cancers) (Anon., 2014). Genes are a
risk factor in an individual s risk of getting the illness, however there are further lifestyle risk factors.
Tobacco is by far, the single most important risk factor for cancer. Worldwide, it caused more than 1 in
5 cancer deaths and almost three quarters of lung cancer deaths (Cancer Research UK, 2014).
Cancer is not a single disease with a single cause and a single type of treatment. There are more than
200 different types of cancer, each with its own name and treatment. Cancer is the general name for a
group of more than 100 diseases and is due to abnormal cell growth.
Cells become abnormal if their DNA and therefore their knowledge becomes damaged. As long as
there are very few abnormal cells and they are kept under control by our immune system, they will not
be harmful to the person. It is only when these cells start to divide uncontrollably, forming lumps or

Natural Duty To Obey The Law
In this essay, I will refute the claim that there is a natural duty to obey the law, even in reasonably
decent democratic society in order to rescue others from the dangerous conditions of the state of
nature. To do this, I will explore the consequence of using the natural theory to explain a duty to obey
the law as the best way to rescue others from the dangerous conditions in the state of nature. Next, I
will explore the ambiguity in the natural theory to sufficiently justify a duty to obey the law simply
because it is a law. Through these analyses, I will address the more general question: under a recent
decent democratic society, what kind of duty do we have to obey the law? Before addressing the claim
of a natural duty to obey the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This service will promise protection to what society generally fears as potential injustices: robbery,
murder, and rape. By following the law, one can rescue others from the dangers of death,
psychological, and physical harms, which indicates an advancement of an impartial good. The
problem with this law is that even in a reasonably decent democratic society is the fact that people
comes from different socioeconomic background. Given the existence of a lower class, middle class,
and upper class exists, let imagine each makes 50k, 100k, and 200k respectively. This income factor
creates a dilemma to obey because it is unjust for the lower class to pay all of their earnings to taxes.
Hypothetically speaking, people regardless of class may disagree with the government law for a tax
intended to rescue society from the dangers of the state of nature because of conflicting methodology.
According to the statement claiming for a natural duty to obey, all possible disagreements with this
law is not considered because it will go against the government s intention to enforce an impartial
moral value. Since everyone has a natural duty to rescue others by obeying this hypothetical tax law
for the government to functions, all other laws must be obeyed no matter the absurdity. The natural

  • 2. The Development Of The Psyche As a child, people are in the most delicate phase of life. They are a freshly budded lily, absorbing all the light, moisture, and nutrients possible in order to bloom into an adult. These essential fertilizers predominantly come from their parents, who nurture them into the person they will become. This unit commonly consists of a mother and father. The mother a symbol of intimacy and maternal comfort, and the father a symbol of strength and stature. The balance of this yin and yang is extremely important for the development of the psyche. Having a fatherless childhood or a childhood with a degenerate father is common in today s society. The effects of not having a father figure ripple through childhood and lay roots in the subconscious. There are two types of a fatherless childhood. Some grow up without a father in their life entirely, without any knowledge of who he may have been. Others grow up with a father in their life that does more destructive impact than constructive impact. Some may say that a destructive parent is still a parent to their child, but arguably a parent without constructive development to their spawn is not a parent at all. This hollow in a child s life leaves a space for destructive energy to breed. Many challenges adults face within themselves reflect back into their childhood. The subconscious is the seed left over from the lily s bloom, which died along with childhood innocence. The fight to gain back said innocence is the ultimate struggle. ... • 3. An Understanding Of The Minds Of Madness An Understanding In To the Minds of Madness Dr. Jamison the author of An Unquiet Mind, recaptures her life in the world of manic depressive disorder, later to be categorized as bipolar 1. She explains in great detail the symptoms she undergoes through her life and how they affected her everyday living. Besides the recount of her symptoms divulges how she coped and overcame the obstacles of her disorder. She also allows the reader to know the struggles she had with her treatments as she went through life till she was able to follow her own treatment plan. Dr. Jamison started out life raised in a military family with a history of mental illness, though not one of discussing such problems, Jamison first dealt with intense moods during high school. These experiences escalated during her undergraduate years and by the time Jamison entered her mid twenties manic depression had taken over her life. Her first onset of symptoms in high school was when she was dealing with the black and chaotic moods (35) of her father (Jamison, 1995). At that time she started to notice around sixteen or seventeen, her own ups and downs that mimicked her fathers. Her ups were of little sleep and exhausting to those around her, while her downs as she puts it became really dark and on the brooding side of life (35) (Jamison, 1995). Her symptoms meeting the criteria for manic episodes with (1) decreased need for sleep, (2) flight of ideas or subjective experience that thoughts are racing, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, when Casey increased the agency s covert operations against the Marxist Sandinista government in Nicaragua by funneling aid to the contras, the anti Sandinista rebels, Congress became concern of the CIA involvement in Central America. Hence, in 1982 it passed Boland amendment prohibiting the agency from aiding the contras. , Casey continued to find ways to evade the amendment (Encyclopedia of World Biography, 2010). On January 7, 1984 and February 29, 1984, the CIA mined several harbors in Nicaragua. Later, during the spring of 1984, Congress found out about the agency s mining of Nicaragua s harbors, which created a serious backlash against aiding the contras. After Boland II became law, two ways for the administration was identified to bypass the law. One way was to solicit third party funds from private donors or third countries, and the second way to use the White House National Security Council (NSC) since the council was not covered under Boland II (Ross, 2010). To this day, the exact role of President Reagan in the Iran Contra scandal is unclear. However, it appears that in July 1985, in a strategic attempt to build relationship with some moderate elements within Iran s regime, and to secure the release of seven American hostages held by Iranian backed Shiite extremists in Lebanon, Reagan ordered an operation to sell arms to Iran, which violated the U.S. arms sales embargo against Iran s regime. Congressional committees that later investigated the Iran Contra affair concluded that the shredding of the documents and the death of Casey, left the record incomplete. It appears that due to Congress s oversight on the CIA s covert operations, initially, the agency was not officially involved in the affair. Casey later testified to Congress that he was unaware of all the details and the agency only had a supporting role (Encyclopedia of World Biography, 2010). Nevertheless, Casey was viewed as a central figure in the agency s involvement in the affair. From August 1985 to October 1986, seven arms shipments were sent using Israeli and CIA planes. • 5. The Tyger By William Blake The coexistence of good and evil has caused many people throughout time to question their God and the way the world is. William Blake s compilation of poems called the Songs of Innocence and Experience questions the good and evil in the daily lives of human beings. This collection of poems includes The Tyger, a partnered poem in the series with The Lamb. Blake offers a new way of interpreting God through His creations in The Tyger. Blake demonstrates the fierceness of the tyger s creator throughout the poem. The tyger is viewed as a vicious creature that people view as a threat to their lives in many cases. A creature so evil to be created by a God depicted as loving baffles many people, Blake included it would seem. The narrator asks, What immortal hand or eye / Could frame thy fearful symmetry? (3, 4) This question is asked throughout Blake s poem with the answer alluded to at the end. Blake wonders how the same God who made such a gentle lamb could make such a frightening and blood thirsty creature like that of the evil tiger. The narrator uses imagery of the tiger being forged like one would forge a weapon. What the hammer? what the chain? / In what furnace was thy brain? (13, 14) These lines give an idea of the tiger being used as a weapon forged by God to show the power and fierceness that he holds. One may assume he forged such evil to strike fear and obedience in his followers. The image given to the reader is God as a blacksmith, hammering his creation in to ... • 7. Summary Of Mere Christianity Liar, Lunatic, or Lord? You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great moral teacher. He has not left it open to us. He did not intend to. (Lewis 78.) In Mere Christianity, Lewis talks about the silliness of accepting Jesus as another great moral teacher. According to Lewis, we must all make a choice to call Jesus liar, lunatic, or Lord. ...What should we make of a man, himself unrobbed and untrodden on, who announced that he forgave you for treading on other men s toes and stealing other men s money? Lewis says that Jesus has two of the character traits that all men struggle with, humbleness and meekness. Even the great Confucius and Socrates, people who we consider to be great teachers, had problems with humility and meekness. In John 9, it talks about Jesus healing the blind man, Bartimaeus. ...while I am in the world, I am the light of the world...He spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva and put it on the man s eyes... wash in the pool of Siloam Jesus said. So the man went, and came home seeing. John 9:5 7. What common great moral teacher could do that? Now anyone may easily think, This man is a straight lunatic. • 8. Ghost Singer By Anna Lee Walters Ghost Singer by Anna Lee Walters is a tale of the historical injustices suffered by Indigenous peoples and the modern consequences of those injustices. Although it is clear that the spirit people in the novel serve as the most outwardly fearsome people in the novel, it is important to take into account the overall systemic injustices that the characters of Native American heritage suffer under throughout the histories presented in the novel. Walters addresses fearsomeness and sympathetic characters through the use of dangerous characters and situations presented directly and indirectly to the characters. The fearsomeness of the characters and the sympathy felt for the characters is dependent upon the perspectives of the readers since these fearsome figures are a cultural construct and a projection of that cultures fears (Cohen 1). The fearsome figures in the novels are presented to initially be the spirits haunting the artifacts, but upon closer examination the larger more entrenched issue of outdated models of thought in relation to Indigenous peoples appear to be the most important fearsome figure. The protagonist of the novel is dependent upon the views taken, and the fearsome figures that the historians, such as David Evans, and characters are attempting aid the spirits, such as George Daylight. Walters addresses the fearsome nature of a system dependent on examining and judging indigenous societies based on white values, which is problematic since both cultures do not ... Most folks typically favor delving into verdicts others have made in the past to see what the likelihood of success is for their upcoming rulings. Researching and educating one s self can prevent possible catastrophes, mishaps that are generally unnecessary. Due to previous generations decisions, histories, and evolutionary advances, it is unquestionable and clear that parents should not be allowed to choose the sex of their offspring. Some may argue however that there are many benefits to choosing the sex of their offspring, such as family planning, control or avoiding genetic disorders, and overall parental gratification. By being able to choose the sex of one s child, families can, in theory, accurately plan how many boys or girls they birth, when they desire to produce them, and how spread apart the children are in age. By choosing the sex of their children, parents fundamentally have complete and total control over what their family lineage will look like and consist of. Some may even argue that this type of control is socially responsible and beneficial in terms of parental satisfaction. This argument stems from the idea that individuals are more likely to take care of their belongings if they desired said belongings when they were acquired. • 12. How Does Poverty Affect Children Poverty can affect children in many ways, including school, career, and life troubles. Children who grow up in poor households are statically proven to be less successful. There is an obvious connection between poor children also being poor adults. It is not necessarily the child s fault. As much as people may want to believe that you create your own future, people are often products of their circumstances. If opportunity is not presented, there is nowhere to go. Poverty stricken families have an obvious disadvantage. They have less access to the resources it takes to succeed. They do not have access to extra help should their child need it or access to learning tools. Poor children are more likely to drop out and score lower on standardized tests which could be attributed to the environment they have grown up in. Kant refers these intuitions into what he calls the three fold synthesis. To put it in different terms, the three fold synthesis describes the necessary components for intuition of what is happening in the outside world. It allows us to Kant believed that the three fold synthesis is divided into three different types of synthesis. According to Kant, it is required that all of the synthesis work in unison in order for experience to happen. Experience is what makes possible the synthesis of apprehension, in return makes the possibility of the synthesis of reproduction, which creates the possibility of the synthesis of recondition. Therefore, Kant argues, the synthesis of recondition is contingent on experience. Kant also stated that for each of the three fold synthesis, there are both empirical and pure levels. In other words, each of the three fold synthesis have two ways of being interpreted in the mind, one based on our intellects because it is gathered through experience, and another based upon the fact that the manifold works in unison with the others and are dependent on each other for experience to happen. As technology improves, the ability for people to communicate increases. The transfer of ideas, information and the sharing of cultures becomes exceedingly simple. As technology improves the people using that technology have access to a much wider experience of the world than previously would have been possible. In this way as each generation grows up in a globalised world, the factors that influence their social queues, their ability to choose peers, and what is accessible in popular culture, vastly changes the dynamic that a younger generation would have in comparison to the generation that came before them. Globilisation is an extremely important factor in the social construction of a younger generations culture. The second half of the twentieth century has been a period of massive human migration, both locally and internationally. This period also saw a huge increase in the transfer of information and ideas between different countries through various forms of communication, the most predominant in recent periods being the internet. Studies that examined skin color in the lives of 123 African American adolescents (aged 11 19 years) found complexion to be related to self esteem, but the study also brought additional complexity to the issue. Students who self reported as lighter or darker had lower levels of satisfaction with their skin color than did students whose skin color was classified as somewhere in between . (Davis, 2015). Colorism can affect how we are judged by other African Americans. For African American girls, self evaluation may be seen as a liking for physical characteristics that they believe will be judged more favorably (i.e., lighter skin color, longer hair, and passionate features, etc.). This might cause a risk for African American girls who may not follow this standard. Higher sexual risk and substance abuse behavior by African American girls can be contributed to internalizing colorism attitudes. Skin bleaching is another important risk behavior. Skin bleaching is widely known throughout the Caribbean, Africa, and in the United States, posing several serious and negative health effects on the human body, including mercury poisoning, permanent thinning of the skin, premature aging of the skin, increased risk of skin ... He asserts that viewing events through an algebraic lens enables him to encounter, known variables, fixed conditions, space and time, inorganic things... with mankind in type masses too great for individual variety with all artificial aids and the extensions given our faculties by mechanical invention. Seller financing is very popular and works basically the same as it does here in the United States. But there is also another type of seller financing called: Reserve of Domain. It is typically used if the buyer has all the money to purchase the property, but it is tied up in assets and isn t liquefiable at the time of sale. The Most Comprehensive Global Route Network The combined United Continental Holdings competes on the basis of having what it terms the most comprehensive global route network , modern planes, and an industry leading loyalty program (UnitedContinentalHoldings.com, 2012). The merger between two struggling airlines was announced in 2010, and the United brand is going to be the one that is most prominent going forward. There have recently been some minor implementation problems in unwinding the Continental name (Martin, 2012). While it is difficult, to some extent, to evaluate the success of a merger that is only just now entering its final implementation phases, it is known that the objective of that merger was to use the larger route network to attract more business, and that the combined airline would also extract cost savings as the result of increased operational efficiency. The airline had struggled in 2009, with its sales declining, but it recovered in 2010 and 2011. Sales last year were $33.678 billion, up from $21.068 billion the year before. In the past two years, the company has turned a profit, going from $253 million in net income in FY2010 to $840 million in net income in FY2011. Some of this improvement may stem from the impact of the merger. However, the airline industry is highly cyclical, and the past two years have represented economic improvement. Likewise, the losses the company faced in FY2008 and FY2009 were as much the result of the economic downturn as they were internal business factors. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Maxine Hong Kingston Understanding Her Life through The Woman Warrior Maxine Hong Kingston s The Woman Warrior is novel composed of myths and memoirs that have shaped her life. Her mother s talk stories about her no name aunt, her own interpretation of Fa Mu Lan, the stories of ghosts in doom rooms and American culture have been the basis of her learning. She learned morals, truths, and principals that would be the basis of her individuality. Since her mother s talk story was one of the major forces of her childhood and since she herself is now talking story in writing this book, stories, factual and fictional, are an inherent part of Kingston s autobiography. Finding one s voice in order to talk story, a metaphor for knowing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kingston wrote, The fear did not stop but permeated everywhere. She told the man, I think I m pregnant. He organized the raid against her. Another major point Brave Orchid makes from the story is not to let someone that is untrustworthy get the upper hand in a situation where they would have the power to take advantage of her, to save themselves from shame and humiliation. She is trying to make Kingston deal with honest people and make good friends through a rather frightening story of humiliation and deceit. In the re telling of the Fa Mu Lan myth, Kinston shows the strengths and warrior like abilities of her character, rather than the weaknesses her mother scares her with, in the story of the No Name Woman. When we Chinese girls listened to the adults talk story, we learned that we failed if we grew up to be but wives or slaves. Fa Mu Lan helps her get out of the circle of the average subservient Chinese woman and strive to be something better than a housewife or a slave. She gets an abundance of inspiration from the heroine in the myth, pretending the hero is she. Kingston is inspired to break the mold of the typical Chinese woman. From this myth she learns that it is ok to be different, to be a Chinese American woman. She proves to herself that she can be whoever she wants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jason Reid Meaning In this essay I m going to be writing about the variations, patterns and wishes recipe of The Three and Many Wishes of Jason Reid I will also be comparing The Three And Many Wishes Of Jason Reid to The Old Woman Who Lived In A Vinegar Bottle and The Fisherman And His Wife . The book that we read is called The Three and Many Wishes of Jason Reid and in this book is an eleven year old elementary school kid who got granted three wishes from Quicksilver, The Elster Of The Third Order . So as Jason was wishing for his three wishes, he was being greedy and wished for three more wishes and Elster Of The Third Order I think there s a lot more variations than pattern as Jason is different and smarter than all the other characters in these stories,he also does not wish dumb wishes and is not really greedy except when he wished for the in the garage like the bike and fish(etc). ... • 42. Puritan Origins Of The American Wilderness Movement Summary Many people that go out and enjoy the wilderness or the outdoors head to those places because they need to get away from the world and relax. The opportunity you have to go out and enjoy these beautiful areas all started with the beginning of this country by many men and their ideas and views of the outdoors. I will conduct a rhetorical analysis of J. Baird Callicott and Priscilla Solis Ybarra s article, The Puritan Origins of the American Wilderness Movement, and critique there use of rhetorical appeals in order to show that their article was written successfully. J. Baird Callicott and Priscilla Solis Ybarra are both professors at the University of North Texas and the situation they are explaining is that the wilderness was once seen as a wild place filled with beasts that couldn t be tamed. They include the view points and work of great foresters like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Henry David Thoreau, a lifelong contrarian who regularly ridiculed the conventional attitudes and values of his New England contemporaries (Calliscott, Ybarra). The people that did not care what people thought about their ideas were the ones that made this country a beautiful place. The character that Calliscott and Ybarra come off as to me is people who care about the history of this country and its wilderness. They include positive examples to help get there point across like, It was their God ordained destiny to transform the dismal American wilderness into an earthly paradise, governed according to the Word of God (Calliscott, Ybarra). The American wilderness was compared to a paradise and should be governed to the Word of God has a positive and biblical meaning because many people practice their religion as they please and comparing the wilderness to the Word of God is very ... Mark Case Brief RELIANCE LAWYERS TO: Client FROM: Christine Bulos SUBJECT: Sandy V Mark DATE: 17th April 2017 CC: Partners@reliancelawyers.com.au PURPOSE: This memorandum analyses the contractual dealings between our client, Sandy, and Mark to determine whether equitable and proprietary estoppel is applicable in this case, and whether the promise Mark made to Sandy in regards to subdividing his land must be upheld. SUMMARY: QUESTION 1A) It will be argued that estoppel is definitely applicable in this case as no contract was formally created by the two parties due to the lack of a formal written agreement , the intention to create legal relations and the absence of sufficient consideration therefore what was communicated between the two parties is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Factors present that support this notion are the lack of a formal written agreement, the intention to create legal relations wasn t present, and insufficient consideration. Mark had promised to subdivide his land and transfer the ownership of the cottage you were living in as a tenant to your name, and in effect encouraged you to disregard seeking a settlement with Pat as well as substantially improve his cottage. This thus encouraged an induced assumption to be made which you relied upon. Mark did not do enough to prevent your impending detriment from occurring regardless of his initial knowledge and intention made. We will therefore use these factors to our advantage and base the cause of action and arguments made on these. As your lawyer, my main concern is to seek relief in the form of obtaining the cottage property for you rather than monetary damages as that has been established to be of your main concern as substantial improvements were made to the cottage using your own money as well as it being the initial agreement between Mark and ... • 45. The Problem Posing By Paulo Freire Classroom experiences are like polyatomic ions: some are positive while others are negative. While the majority of the experiences at the West Genesee School District have been positive, I can recollect one experience that was particularly negative. During the duration of my Advanced Placement global history course, I was the subject in a class, that, by definition, would be closer to the problem posing classroom that Paulo Freire describes in his piece The Banking Concept of Education . In his works, Paulo Freire asserts that the problem posing education makes them [the students] critical thinkers (Freire 221). As Freire describes, a class that implements the problem posing policy is one in which students are to become critical thinkers. Freire would have been ecstatic that other educators carried out his ideas in their own problem posing classroom. My teacher me made it unequivocal that this class was going to challenge the way we analyzed and understood history. The teacher continued to describe the role of the student in the classroom; the educator expected the pupil to analyze readings and argue about what the pupil deemed to be the most important concepts presented. Regardless of the content, Egyptian hieroglyphics or Genghis Kahn, while the students studied history, the teacher insisted that the students evaluated the relationships between the causes, effects, and relevance of various topics throughout the course. In addition, the student prepared to discuss ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Psychology Of Cancer And Cancer In this essay I will be discussing the psychology of cancer. More than 270,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK. Cancer is the cause of a quarter of all UK deaths, and well over a third of all deaths in adults under 65 (Cancer Research UK, 2004). It is a deadly illness, in 2012, an estimated 14.1 million new cases of cancer occurred worldwide and an estimated 8.2 million people died from cancer. Around 12,500 cancers in the UK each year are linked to alcohol with smoking causing nearly a fifth of all cancers (including over 80% of lung cancers) (Anon., 2014). Genes are a risk factor in an individual s risk of getting the illness, however there are further lifestyle risk factors. Tobacco is by far, the single most important risk factor for cancer. Worldwide, it caused more than 1 in 5 cancer deaths and almost three quarters of lung cancer deaths (Cancer Research UK, 2014). Cancer is not a single disease with a single cause and a single type of treatment. There are more than 200 different types of cancer, each with its own name and treatment. Cancer is the general name for a group of more than 100 diseases and is due to abnormal cell growth. Cells become abnormal if their DNA and therefore their knowledge becomes damaged. As long as there are very few abnormal cells and they are kept under control by our immune system, they will not be harmful to the person. It is only when these cells start to divide uncontrollably, forming lumps or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Natural Duty To Obey The Law In this essay, I will refute the claim that there is a natural duty to obey the law, even in reasonably decent democratic society in order to rescue others from the dangerous conditions of the state of nature. To do this, I will explore the consequence of using the natural theory to explain a duty to obey the law as the best way to rescue others from the dangerous conditions in the state of nature. Next, I will explore the ambiguity in the natural theory to sufficiently justify a duty to obey the law simply because it is a law. Through these analyses, I will address the more general question: under a recent decent democratic society, what kind of duty do we have to obey the law? Before addressing the claim of a natural duty to obey the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This service will promise protection to what society generally fears as potential injustices: robbery, murder, and rape. By following the law, one can rescue others from the dangers of death, psychological, and physical harms, which indicates an advancement of an impartial good. The problem with this law is that even in a reasonably decent democratic society is the fact that people comes from different socioeconomic background. Given the existence of a lower class, middle class, and upper class exists, let imagine each makes 50k, 100k, and 200k respectively. This income factor creates a dilemma to obey because it is unjust for the lower class to pay all of their earnings to taxes. Hypothetically speaking, people regardless of class may disagree with the government law for a tax intended to rescue society from the dangers of the state of nature because of conflicting methodology. According to the statement claiming for a natural duty to obey, all possible disagreements with this law is not considered because it will go against the government s intention to enforce an impartial moral value. Since everyone has a natural duty to rescue others by obeying this hypothetical tax law for the government to functions, all other laws must be obeyed no matter the absurdity. The natural ...
