Learning to Cope with ADHD as an Adult Learner Essay
Learning to Cope with ADHD as an Adult Learner Typically when one hears the term ADHD and the
potential negative effects that it could have on someone striving towards academic success, they
immediately think school age children. Though it is more common for children to be diagnosed and
treated, 5% of U.S. adults are living with this condition (American Psychiatric Association, 2012).
First ADHD must be defined before coping methods can be explained. ADHD or Attention Deficit
Hyperactive Disorder is a diagnosis applied to children and adults who consistently display certain
characteristic behaviors such as distractibility (poor sustained attention to tasks), impulsivity
(impaired impulse control and delayed gratification), and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of those stimulant medications, the most common are Ritalin, Dexedrine, Adderall, Adderall XR,
Concerta, Vyvanse, and Focalin XR (Jaksa, 1998). For those who do not like stimulant medications or
the idea of seeing a psychiatrist on a regular basis, there are alternate forms of treatment for dealing
with the effects of ADHD. Yoga, Vitamins, Herbal Supplements, and even special diets have been
proven to be successfully in helping an individual deal with the effects of ADHD (Mayo Clinic Staff,
2013). One could gain a lot from using these alternate forms of treatment if they want to take natural
approach to treatment. They would not have to worry about the potential negative side effects of
stimulant medications. They can also become addictive. However, this can also be risky. These
alternate forms of treatment cannot replace the expertise and knowledge of a licensed psychiatrist.
Working with someone who is certified to diagnose and treat this condition can provide access to
some of the best treatment possible. ADHD is associated with poor grades, poor reading and
mathematics standardized test scores, and an increased likelihood of repeating a school year (Daley
Birchwood, 2009, pg. 457). The same academic challenges an individual faces as a child could carry
over into adulthood and create similar challenges as an adult learner. Individuals with ADHD face
academic disadvantages. This is not saying that an individual with ADHD cannot be the top student in

organisations must be able to satisfy their customers needs and wants (La Barbera and Mazursky,

Quebec Should be Independent Essay
The French pioneers arrived on the land of today s Canada before the 17th century, in which they
called New France. The English started to colonize North America in the 17th century, and it
dominated the land by defeating the French after the French and Indian War, (McDougal Littell World
Geography, page 156). Francophone s population remained a minority in Northern America. The
tension between the two ethnicities worsened, so the French asked for an independent nation. Canada
and the Quebec province have been trying to reach a general conclusion by looking at the following
three main aspects. Firstly, the diverse culture, history, and language between Quebec and the English
speaking provinces. Secondly, the economical power preserved by ... Show more content on

They felt that their right of existence has been violated. People argued that the federal government and
the local governments could help the Quebecers gain their cultural identities back without going
through devolution, and they also made French as one of the official language of Canada. In addition,
they ensured that the French Canadian would be given education and culture rights through specific
laws that governed it. But numerous disagreements arose during the discussion between the provinces.
The effort aroused tremendous opposition in English Canada, and failed, (The Case for a Sovereign
Quebec, page 1). Quebec had one of the strongest economy in the world. Quebec was the United
States s eighth largest trading partner, (Trading with Quebec, page 2). It had numerous advantages that
made it one of the strongest and healthiest economy in Canada. Montreal was the third largest city in
Canada. It gathered industries from software engineering, electronic productions, to aerospace
development. It as a whole had abundant financial and human resources, which provided cheap and
approachable water and mineral resources. The local government believed that after gaining
independence from Canada, these factors could make it succeed and prosper in the global economy.
The major oppositions that stood against Quebec economically was the inconvenience when

12 Angry Men Rhetorical Analysis
One of the most valuable abilities an individual can possess is dauntlessness and the art of persuasion.
In the film 12 Angry Men by Reginald Rose, twelve members of the jury must determine and issue a
final decree on whether an inner city teenager is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt or not guilty of his
father s murder. Despite the numerous factual evidence provided, a majority of the jurors are
convinced without reasonable doubt that the young boy is guilty and should be sentenced to death.
These abilities are undoubtedly illustrated when one juror decides to stand against eleven jurors in
transforming the fate of the teenage boy. The individual is Juror 8. He utilizes the act of courage to
stand against the other jurors in what he believes is an unfair judgment and also uses persuasion to
alter their decisions. Through analyzing juror 8 s dialogue and his employment of rhetorical
techniques with each juror, the readers can discern his unique traits of courage and persuasion. First,
Let s examine Juror 8 s demeanor. He appears to be a gentle, quiet and an astute man. In the initial
jury vote, he is the only juror that votes not guilty while the rest votes guilty. Thus, he exhibits that he
is a man that values justice and is willing to fight for it. His display of dubitatio is recognized when he
says, I don t know whether I believe it or not. Maybe I don t. (Lumet Rose, 1957). He is uncertain
whether the boy is innocent or guilty but merely seeks the truth. He further states that it is not easy for
him to send a boy off to die without talking about it first (Lumet Rose, 1957). While justifying to Juror
7 why he cast a not guilty vote, Juror 8 utilizes pathos to sway the jurors. Look, this boy s been kicked
around all his life. You know, living in a slum, his mother dead since he was nine. That s not a very
good head start, he says (Lumet Rose, 1957). Juror 8 points to the boy s poor upbringing in a bid to
persuade the others to reconsider discussing the case before making a hasty judgment. He also uses his
moderate touch and amiable expressions to calm Juror 9 from the comments made by Juror 10.
Consequently, it is apparent that Juror 8 s attitude in determining facts to the

Reflective Essay On Fasting
I chose fasting as my inward spiritual discipline. I did for more than the class plan was. I started
fasting in mid October During Ethiopian orthodox fasting. I abstained from all things a body needs,
and must fast from animal products and from any kind of food. I did couple days every week. I would
usually Friday and Wednesday. I think it was on the last day of 2 days fast, I felt so good, I felt like my
body was filled with God grace. At the end of fasting I tried to meditate but it was hard to concentrate.
The hardest part of fasting was talking about it for other people. What if someone offers you food? I

Solitude allows me to see the value of myself in God s image. I sat in solitude wondering how I could
forget God s unconditional love for me and my worth that is found in Him. Solitude challenged my
relationship with my husband because I often said no to my husband, which caused him to be upset
with me and eventually made me feel like a bad person. I said no because I want to experience
Solitude. Even if I faced certain challenges while practicing Solitude, I found it was more rewarding
than anything spiritual practice. After every hour of Solitude, I felt more refreshed and I could feel the
love around me. I became more aware of when I was overwhelmed or needed to take a break from
events, socializing, or people. I learned about my limits, and what I can do to improve how much time
I can spend in situations that are exhausting or do not reflect God. The most rewarding part of solitude
was I always came out of it knowing my worth and that I was created to be here and I had a purpose. I
could see who I truly was and how I can live that out, which is something I often struggle with.
solitude helped me realize that it s okay if I do not meet the expectations. I finally realized that I can
stop trying to be like by everyone else because I was already loved by God. Practicing solitude opened
my eyes to how important it is to take care of my soul. The spiritual disciplines I practiced impacted
my life

Theme Of The Penelopiad
Margaret Atwood s The Penelopiad has many motifs, although the most significant motif is suffering,
which is present throughout The Penelopiad through uninformed families, terrified suitors, and the
agony of young girls. Even the narrator of the story, Penelope, has suffered ever since her childhood
when she was thrown off a cliff. Since the beginning of The Penelopiad, each individual from Ithaca
has ended up in pain. Penelope and Telemachus pain of not knowing the fate of Odysseus, a father,
and a husband, the frightening death of the overstayed suitors, and the agony put on the maids, who
are raped and hurt repeatedly by the awful suitors. All together, Margaret Atwood uses the motif of
suffering to describe the unavoidable pain that the characters face throughout The Penelopiad, and
how suffering correlates to the departure and return of Odysseus.
Atwood uses suffering to describe Penelope and Telemachus unknowing of the fate of Odysseus.
Since the start of The Penelopiad, Atwood describes the suffering of Penelope, and the suffering of
Telemachus through the absence of Odysseus. The grief began when Odysseus was sent to Troy, and
after 20 years, still hasn t returned. Additional suffering is added to this pair, when Telemachus comes
of age and starts looking for answers. He d gone in search of his father, since nobody else was
prepared to lift a finger in that direction. He claimed his father would ve been proud of him for

Beer Wars Film Analysis
Introduction
A documentary film made in 2009, Beer wars features and describes the American beer industry
distinguishing between the large and small breweries. The large breweries feature some main
corporate companies like Coors Brewing Company, Anheuser Busch, and Miller Brewing Company
whereas the small breweries include craft beer producers like Moonshot 69, Stone Brewing Company,
Dogfish Head Brewery, Yuengling, and others. The documentary shows how the beer market is
controlled through advertising and lobbying, which is harmful for the competition in the market.
There is a reason why the small companies are falling behind and the large corporates are controlling
the market, which in turn makes it essentially oligopoly economy.

The film depicts an insight of the beer industry and its current state in America. It shows some
unexplored or hidden facts and journey of the beer industry which is intended to interest the beer
lovers. Beer Wars film describes the daily battles in the beer industry between well established
corporate beer brands and some of the upcoming innovative beer breweries. The independent and the
small breweries introduce new and innovative craft beer in this high profitable beer industry.
The documentary shows how the two small beer entrepreneurs, Rhonda and Sam try to establish
themselves in the beer industry and success in the high potential market. The film shows that the beer
industry is governed by some difficult and outdated laws along with an oligopoly of the large brands.
These large brands manipulate the beer industry by acquiring and buying off the smaller brands which
they find competitive among the market. The small brewers thus face difficulties and barriers
establishing themselves in the American beer industry. The big giants like the Coors Brewing
Company, Anheuser Busch, and the Miller Brewing Company face challenge from the independent
craft beer producers when these new brands are put on shelves; so they seek ways to prevent
distribution and production of these small brands, which is harmful for the competition in the beer
industry. Sam Calagione and Rhonda Kallman are considered as small entrepreneurs in the beer
industry who struggle from the large brands, the difficult laws, and the less competitive but highly
profitable

Supreme Court Sides with Walmart Essay
Video Case Study:
Court Systems and Jurisdiction Supreme Court Sides with Walmart
1. This story is about the Supreme Court s decision. What process did this case have to go through to
get to the Supreme Court?
The U.S. Constitution establishes the Supreme Court, which is authorized by it to hear original and
appellate cases. Original cases are heard only by and are sent directly to the Supreme Court. Appellate
cases are those cases which were heard by a lower court, decided on by the lower court, but an appeal
was requested so the Supreme Court could hear it. That request is a writ of certiorari. The Supreme
Court orders the lower court to send the case files for review. The Supreme Court usually does not

That ruling set precedent to deny all future class action lawsuits against employers for discrimination.
The occurring opinion I not legally binding and cannot be used as precedent when trying a case, it can
however be used by lawyers to decide their path to how a case is viewed in court, and a judge just
might see the reason and rule in their favor (Legal Dictionary, n.d.). One of the reasons why a
dissenting opinion is made is so Congress can rethink the state of current law and modify it to benefit
future litigants of the same reasons. Ginsburg wrote such a dissent in 2007. The issue at hand was the
time frame within which a woman had to bring a suit for pay discrimination based on gender. The law
was written quite narrowly, stating that an individual had to bring suit within 180 days of the
discrimination occurring. However, after the decision was handed down, Congress took up the
challenge and changed the law so that this time frame was greatly extended (American History, 2016).
3. What type of jurisdiction did the federal courts have in this case? Was it a federal question case or a
diversity of citizenship case? Why?
This case was one of federal jurisdiction. Federal court jurisdiction is limited to the types of cases
listed in the Constitution and specifically provided for by Congress... cases involving violations of the

Alison Bechdel Fun Home Analysis
Alison Bechdel uses her graphic memoir, Fun home, to explore her relationship with her father. She
uses the book as a tool to reflect on her life and the affect her father had on her. She discovers how her
fathers closeted sexuality affected her childhood and her transition into adulthood. His death left a
powerful mark and left her searching for answers. She clearly states this when she says, it s true that
he didn t kill himself until I was nearly twenty. But his absence resonated retroactively, echoing back
through all the time I knew him. (23). This feeling drove her to look back on their relationship and
find what binds her so strongly to a man she never understood. She discovered how her fathers
closeted sexuality affected her childhood, her sexuality, and her relationship with literature.
Bechdel opens the book with a scene of her playing with her father. She uses this memory of them
playing airplane (3) to describe the normal part of their relationship. This is contrasted by the frequent
outbursts she describes throughout her childhood. In chapter 1 she uses the film It s a Wonderful Life
as an analogy. She draws a parallel between George s rare outburst on his children to the frequent
outburst her father displayed as she grew up (11). This scene gives clear insight on how the
relationship with her father fluctuates between calm and strenuous. the inconsistences in their
relationship leads her question what connects her to her father. This dilemma is best

Similarities and Differences Between the RMS Lusitania and...
Every so often we come face to face with life events that have lasting effects. When faced with these
events, some will be able to rebound and move on, but others will not. Events that leave these lasting
impressions have the ability to change who we are, they change our attitudes, our personalities and
they change our lives. Every so often, these events come to us on such a level they impact far more
than a handful of people. Unfortunately as a society we have been witness to several on such a level.

On May 7, the Lusitania was alone and unprotected near the cost of Ireland when she was struck by a
single German U boat 20 torpedo. The Lusitania was quickly crippled as secondary explosions
rumbled from within and tore her apart. Lifeboats were deployed but to no avail as chaos quickly
consumed the ship. Many souls drowned that day and many more were victims of the fire and
explosions. Out of the 1,198 victims of this catastrophic event, 127 of them were Americans. (The
Lusitania Disaster An Overview). The events of the Lusitania no doubt changed the lives of its
survivors. An anonymous daughter of a survivor explains how the event changed her mother. She
explained how the events that day turned life into death; and all those fears, all that anger misdirected
itself into her children. Alcoholism, drug addiction, violence, suicide all this and more stalked my
siblings into their graves. (Diary of a Lusitania
Survivor , 2005). This experience turned an otherwise lovely and caring mother into an individual that
saw evil and destruction in everything around her. The events of May 7 also had a lasting impact on
the views and opinions of the American people who were a world away. Regardless of true guilt or
blame, the Germans were

Compare And Contrast Virginia And Plymouth Plantation
History of virginia and plymouth plantation Both these stories explain about how two men were on the
Mayflower coming to america. Along the way both these men were encountered with different kind of
troubles. History of Virginia was written as a third person whereas to Plymouth Plantation was only
written as one. The most important characters in these stories were Captain John Smith and William
Brad Ford. They each had their differences and similarities. Captain John Smith was on his way to the
new world in 1607, where he then had an encounter with some native americans where he explains
how they held him captive for up to 6 or 7 weeks. Since Capt. John Smith writes in third person he
refers to himself a lot, when talking about the native americans he refers to them as barbarians and
savages. To spare his life Capt. John Smith tells them about how the earth works how to plant, how to
crop, and how to grow food, but since they have gotten off course and lost their route they missed
planting season and didn t have much food for the harsh winter that was coming. After all this they

Comparing The Logger Pro Software And Lab Pro Interface
Objective: The objective of the lab is to become familiar with the Logger Pro software and Lab Pro
interface in order to collect data. This lab will teach how to average constant data and find the
standard deviation, as well as how to use the Statistics and Linear Fit tools. It will also introduce using
Excel to create tables and graphs.
Theory: A thermometer, a device used to measure temperature, was used in this lab to collect data. The
thermometer works by reaching thermal equilibrium with the object that is being measured. Heat
transfers from the object with a higher temperature to the object with a lower temperature, which
causes the temperature reading on the thermometer to change. This can be described by Newton s Law
of Heating and Cooling, which states that the rate of an object s temperature change is proportional to
the difference between the object s temperature and the temperature of its environment. This
predication can be seen in the equation: ΔT/Δt= k (T T0) (Equation 1) ΔT/Δt is the change is
temperature over the change in time, and T0 is the temperature of the object. The temperature will
continue to change until a thermal equilibrium is reached. In this lab, the temperature of the air
(T0=Tair) and the temperature of a hand (T0=Thand) will be measured.
Procedure: A digital thermometer is connected to the Lab Pro interface, which allows the Logger Pro
software to collect data and show the readings on a graph on the computer. Room temperature is

The Power Of Power In Kindred By Octavia Butler
As Boss Tweed used to say, The way to have power is to take it. Therefore, it is not surprising that the
characters of Kindred by Octavia Butler fight throughout the book to gain power from each other.
They all use methods ranging from violence to influence to gain even a slight amount of power from
each other. Even Alice and Dana who are enslaved women during the 1800 s are able to use their
words to influence their owners and the powerful white men in society. Like other black women
during this time period, they use their bodies and other unconventional methods to slowly gain power
over their owners until they are able to influence them to do what they want. Henceforth, Butler wants
to demonstrate to the reader that, even during the antebellum south, enslaved women were able to use
their influence, resilience and courage to eventually gain power over their owners. Alice ultimately
has the most power in the book. She might seem like the most powerless character because of her
ethnicity and gender, but her resilience and ability to influence others makes her the most omnipotent.
For instance, she was abused, threatened, and even raped by Rufus; but her constraint of giving him
the one thing that he wanted made her hold the power over him. It all started when Rufus raped Alice
for the first time and therefore was almost beaten to death by her fiance. Due to him being a slave
Alice and her fiance decided to just get away, (119) before Rufus woke up and got him killed but

Symbolism In Robert Frost s Nothing Gold Can Stay
Robert Frost was born in San Francisco, 1923. It was a political poem because Robert Frost feared for
World War II. He showed that fear in the poem.
Narrative because it is telling the story of life throughout the poem. This title is not obvious to what
the poem is about because he uses metaphors and symbolism. Due to this the title isnt literal.
Although in the poem there aren t any phrases repeated, the word gold is said many times.
Seasons are passing during the time of this poem. It starts with Spring but once he says, then leaf
subsides to leaf he is implying that time is passing.
Ordinarily Eden would be based off of the bible and kind of is but in this poem that character is
mainly represented as mother nature.
Robert Frost was deliberately concealing information from the audience because he came to the
conclusion that if he shows strong political veiws than everyone else is going to either completely
agree or disagree. This would not be good because they were on the verge of World War II.
Robert Frost s poem, Nothing Gold Can Stay does not show any signs of habits, dress, behavior,
speech, or a particular group of people.
Along the lines of fantasy versus reality, this is undoubtedly reality. He talks about childhood fading
away until we dont have our innocence anymore.
Bitter sweet is how Robert Frost expresses the tone of his poem. He is explaining how wonderful it is
when you hang onto your gold but, also narrates how difficult it is for it to stay. For the reader s mood
is sad, as they are sorry for mother nature and understand how innocent childhood was. Therefore the
mood is making the readers feel unhappy.
Youth and nature are both equal themes in this poem because if you take the poem literally it is
perfectly describing nature bt once you dig around it is also clearly describing youth and how you cant
keep it. The personification in this peice helps hide distinguished lines between literal and figurtive
meanings in this poem.
His poem begins frolicking but then decreases in speed because the poem gets more sad the farther
you go. This seems to go right along with the theme and doesnt go faster than it should.
He is using lots of vivid imagery in this poem in a pleasant way even though in

Utilitarianism In Criminal Justice
Considering the three variations of consequentialist ethics, ethical egoism, contractualism, and
utilitarianism: How does these three areas of ethics effect achieving positive means and ends in the
criminal justice system?
This week s discussion seems to be very interesting and can be looked at many different ways, as we
explore the ethical framework we start with consequentialist ethics. This deals with three (3) things,
ethical egoism, contractualism, and utilitarianism. This type of ethics asks the following questions:
What will happen if I do a certain act? Who will be affected and how would this affect them? How
would other alternatives or decisions affect or producer different outcomes (Arrigo Williams, 2008, p.
145)?

A good example of this would be something to the effect if you support a certain political candidate

good in something and minimize all the bad in the act. We all have the desire to be happy and
considered this to be the ultimate goal and happiness factor (Arrigo Williams, 2008, p. 146). Money,
most think money tends to bring happiness therefore many in the law enforcement arena attempt to

Whale Oil Essay
Whale was one of the most important aquatic resources to used whale oil and other products. The
Queen Elizabeth I in 1577 had established the English Moscow company in order to promote whaling
around Spitsbergen (Svalbard). After that, Entrepreneurs among English, Dutch, French, Basque, and
Danish developed a keen interest in a commercial whaling, and started to have made an expedition

Character Analysis Of The Movie Full Metal Jacket
Leonard Lawrence, who is a major character in the movie Full Metal Jacket also known as Private
Gomer Pyle, is an overweight, slow minded recruit who becomes the focus of Gunnery Sergeant
Hartman s attention. In the course of the movie, Leonard undergoes a development and a significant
mental change. The character was discriminated and humiliated by Sergeant Hartman because of his
enervate personality at the boot camp. Leonard s portrayal changes when his fellow recruits mistreat
him, which made Leonard become dark and psychopathic throughout the movie. Through Private Pyle
s character, Stanley Kubrick showed that regardless of who you are and what you can do, war will
wipe all that away, leaving the darkness and a killer in you.
Kubrick introduced Private Pyle in the opening scene of the movie, where a group of recruits gets an
introduction to the boot camp from Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, a foul mouthed drill instructor who
bullies, and discriminates his recruits with harsh words. When it was Leonard s turn to be introduced,
Sergeant Hartman insulted him more than he did to his other recruits for being fat and making an
obnoxious grin. The name Gomer Pyle is an insulting name for a Marine who is prone to screwing up,
which is why Stanley Kubrick, the director named Leonard as Gomer Pyle. Pyle s vulnerability was
very visible from his profile and physical appearance, thus his grinning at Sergeant Hartman supported
that Pyle is dim witted and this made him earn the

Coal-fired Power Plant
With the fast economic development, the global warming issue is threatening our planet nowadays.
Global warming can cause ice melting, which leads to sea level rise globally. Many lovely cities and
countries, such as London, Venice, and Bangladesh will be flooded with seawater and will disappear
on the map. Moreover, ecosystems are badly affected by global warming, which forces many species
to leave their homelands and move to the north or even extinct. Not only animals are under the
extinction dangers, but also human beings are enduring the extreme weather, such as floods, acid
rains, storms, droughts, etc. Along with the hostile environment, the human beings are in danger of the
spreading disease, such as malaria. Coal fired power plant generates 44 percent of the electricity;
however, it is considered the biggest air polluter in the United States and one of the biggest factors in
causing global warming. The greenhouse gas emissions from the coal fired power plants are
threatening the human health and the ecosystems. Fortunately, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the
authority of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to implement its responsibilities and regulate
the pollutants. Nevertheless, the U.S. EPA is facing with many challenges from the coal plants owners,
Republicans, and workers in coal reliant states, such as Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky. They opposed
to the U.S. EPA s new carbon dioxide regulations and tried to overturn the EPA s authority. This paper

Human Condition In Human Life
There are so many depths to a human s personality traits, characteristics, and identity. These depths
create an individualized pathway for the life the human lives. This could mean that their attitude
shapes their life or their personality takes full swing and creates a beautiful minded person. Either
way, a humans depths of individuality creates a person s human condition. The human condition
derives from the key events, situations, and characteristics that occur in a human s life. This creates
the way they feel about things and the hope human s have regardless. The human condition also gives
humans the opportunity to create their future upon things that they like to do and could proceed to do
with their lives. Students have many tasks thrown at them during the span of their high school college
careers. This creates the aspiration, growth, and emotionality that correlates with the human

Students in high school and college are given many ultimatums during their time as a student. Should
I attend this university because it has the better dorms and the higher tuition? Or should I attend the

Sigmund Freud, Women and Child Abuse
Sigmund Freud and His Views
Sigmund Freud has been called the father of psychotherapy. His studies and views on how personality
develops and is affected by different experiences or exposures to stimuli have been disputed and
discussed for over 100 years. This paper will highlight Freud s life and theories as well as answer two
questions. These two questions are; did Freud sexually abuse children and did Freud have a personal
vendetta against women?
Life and Times Sigmund Freud was born in 1856 to a Jewish Family and grew up in Freiberg,
Moravia which is now a part of the Czech Republic. Freud was the eldest of eight children from his
mother and had older half brothers from his father s previous marriage. The family was very poor, but

Many people believe Freud engaged in sexual abuse of children as a part of his studies. His studies on
the theories of personality are based upon five stages of development in a child from birth until
adulthood. All the theories are centered on specific erogenous zones or particular body parts that are
sensitive to sexual stimulation (Stevenson, 1996). Needs, as noted by Freud, which need to be met
during each of these stages of development are present from the moment of birth. If the needs are not
met or if the needs are overly met, the child will experience frustration or overindulgence issues
(Stevenson, 1996). In addition to the issues of frustration or overindulgence, should the child become
fixated upon a particular stage the methods the child uses to obtain satisfaction for that stage will
affect the child throughout adulthood (Stevenson, 1996). How did Freud identify these theories? Did
Freud sexually assault his young patients? From studies that have been conducted on Freud s research
the findings show that Freud abandoned his seduction theory when he began to realize that the
accounts of sexual abuse by parents were not true. In fact, Freud noted that these accounts were most
probably due to the patient s repressed sexual desires for the

Diabetic Neuropathy Essay
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is among the chronic microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus
due to hyperglycemia. Prevalence of diabetic neuropathy is high, affecting more than 60% of diabetics
(Boulton et al., 2005). The clinical manifestation of diabetic neuropathy include numbness, tingling
sensation in toes, feet, legs, arms, hands and fingers (Kumar et al.). It leads to significant morbidity,
impact on quality of life of patients (Zychowska et al.) and increases the risk of infections leading to
the foot ulcers and non traumatic amputations (Bansal et al.). In diabetic neuronal cells,
hyperglycemic flux activates four cellular pathways: the polyol, advanced glycation end product,
protein kinase C, and hexosamine pathways increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It leads to the reduced coupling efficiency in mitochondria and increased superoxide radical
generation damaging both nuclear DNA and mitochondrial DNA leading to activation of poly ADP
ribose polymerase enzyme (PARP) (Fernyhough et al.Brownlee, 2001; Nishikawa et al., 2000b, to be
added). PARP activation leads to inactivation of AMPK which facilitates mitochondrial biogenesis.
Thus, PARP activation compromises the cellular mitochondrial genesis which leads to accumulation
of damaged mitochondria in the cell. Molecular studies have revealed the involvement of
transcriptional regulators such as Nrf2, NF κB, and COX 2 inflammatory cascade in the pathology of
diabetic neuropathy. The Nuclear factor 2 erythroid related factor (Nrf2) is a redox transcription factor
for the production of endogenous antioxidant defenses and detoxifying enzymes. Nuclear factor kappa
light chain enhancer of β cells(NF κB) is a transcription factor, involved in pro inflammatory cytokine
production (Negi et al.). Both Nrf2 and NF κB regulation are co ordinated in order to maintain redox
homeostasis in healthy cells. However, during pathological conditions this regulation is disturbed
offering an opportunity for therapeutic intervention. Diabetic neuropathy is a condition , in which
change in expression pattern of Nrf2 and NF κB has been reported(Koriyama et

Genoghhis Khan And The Legacy Of Genghis Khan
Genghis Khan was undoubtedly one of the most vicious and brutal leaders in world history. However,
the legacy of Khan is also one of cultural development, artistic achievement, an elegant way of life
and an entire continent united under the Pax Mongolia. The famed leader and his successors created
the largest empire ever to exist, spanning across the entire Asian continent. An empire as such could
not have been created without strong leadership, stellar organizational skills and the most resilient
army ever known. Genghis Khan may be well known for his brutality and destructive cavalry
however, Khan did good for his own people and earned the Mongolians a reputation of glory. Genghis
Khan was an emperor, who lead his people in such a way that was accepted in the tenth century. Back
then war was a very reality, and if it involved massacres, then it was generally tolerated. However,
many people forget that Khan s rampage left such a path of destruction that he irrevocably destroyed
entire empires and populations in the interest of habitable environments. In more recent times, people
have pointed out that Joseph Stalin was responsible for nearly twenty million deaths. This death toll
would have made him more brutal than the Nazis, who held a death total of seventeen million
people(White). Yet, Stalin cannot even compare to the brutality of the Mongols under the leadership of
Khan. Genghis Khan was responsible for the deaths of roughly forty million people, and he was glad

What Is The Theme Of Mushrooms By Sylvia Plath
A quiet revolution: perhaps oxymoronic sounding upon first glance. However, the poem Mushrooms
by Sylvia Plath paints a picture of a story about exactly that, doing so through a subtle metaphor and
simple but powerful visual imagery. Though a poem about the oppression of a group of people, it does
not tell a story of despair. In fact, it s quite the opposite, speaking instead of an uprising of a different
sort, of a hope as modest as the mushrooms themselves.
Mushrooms may seem at first like a very peculiar thing to base an entire poem around. However, the
author leaves scattered hints throughout the stanzas that this may be about more than a bunch of timid
fungi. The first hint of this is in the second stanza: our toes, our noses / take ... Show more content on

Talk of how they were earless and voiceless certainly doesn t seem to paint a particularly cheerful
picture. And though I agree that cheerful wouldn t be an appropriate adjective to use, there is a
glimmer of hope poking out like the cap of a mushroom at dusk that, once grasped, becomes the
dominant mood. Picking out specific lines from the poem, you can tell that this is a poem of triumph,
one disguised as a story of oppression much like how the simple mushrooms are disguised as soft and
non intimidating. Nobody sees us / stops us, betrays us / the small grains make room. These lines on
stanza three show the beginning of the mushrooms presence on the Earth, as grains of dirt part to let
them through. This is only the first indication of the beginning of a revolution. One that only grows as
they grow, So many of us! So many of us! the author cheers in stanza eight. By sheer number and by
sheer will, the mushrooms continue to take over unnoticed, unannounced. And by the poem s end, a
battle had been won. And this is naturally something to take pride in. A quiet pride, as it is in the
mushroom s nature to be humble. But pride

Hind Swaraj And Indian Western Civilization Analysis
Since the 17th century, Britain had been established on the Indian subcontinent along with the
influence of its Western economic, political, military, and educational systems. In Hind Swaraj or
Indian Home Rule, Gandhi repudiates Britain s Western civilization as essentially secular, failing to
embody morality and religion and instead indulging in materialism. In contrast, the morally superior
Indian civilization is anchored in the belief of God. Therefore, he argues that India must achieve
Swaraj or self rule from Britain to preserve and embrace the true India created by its ancestors.
Successful passive resistance against the British Raj, through individual swaraj or complete control
over one s own physical body and soul, will enable India to cure the disease of civilization.
Gandhi begins his critique of Western civilization by listing its symptoms, most importantly,
industrialization. The development of machinery has transformed everyday life in Europe and has
attempted to promote overall well being of the individual and society. However, Gandhi differentiates
this means of progress as strictly superficial, believing these developments only promote bodily
happiness and self indulgence. In the past, for example, men were required to manually plow land, but
this long process evolved with the invention of the steam engine so that a single man can plow
significantly more land and thereby gain the monetary rewards for the machine s efficiency. By
contrasting previous ways of life to reality, Gandhi emphasizes the changes brought about by
civilization and the newfound reliance on superfluous wealth to buy superfluities for the means of
physical comfort. Money, Gandhi argues, is England s god and guides the pathway of Britain s goal to
convert the whole world into a vast market for their goods (37). Western civilization induces moral
weakness, allowing people to give in to their earthly desires, making bodily welfare the object of life
(31). The illusion of wealth as the means to happiness is the focal point of civilization and will
ultimately lead to its own destruction. Conclusively, Britain s persistent, yet remediable disease of
Western civilization is a grossly incompetent model for India.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Biometrics Security System
Although, there are lots of benefits of biometrics security system, it really has many flaws in its
system. Each biometrics application method has weaknesses which could cause problems because of
its users. For instance, if the biometrics security system uses fingerprints to identify its users and an
incident causes the person to cut his/her finger then it can be a problem throughout the verification
process. For voice recognition methods, illnesses such as strep throat will make it hard for authorized
users to obtain access to their information. Another factor that will influence voice recognition
systems is the continuous aging of its users. Noise in an environment where voice recognition is used
to identify its users can also allow it to be hard for users to be identified.
For iris or retinal scanning applications, users might find it very intrusive. Users might also have the
concern for the safety of the eyes throughout the iris or retinal scan. Furthermore, databases used to
store user identification data will soon be very large which might form a potential threat. For scanning
retinal/iris characteristics and storing wide range of database, biometrics system requires new and
modern technology. Therefore, the price for equipment can also be expensive. Finally, a lot of people
remain concerned about biometrics technology in different aspects such as: security, adaptability to
rate of change in life, scalability, accuracy, privacy and others. Moreover, reading accuracy

Suicide Prevention For The Kern County Mental Health Hotline
My family and friends don t quite understand my motivations to become a mental health counselor.
Personally, I can think of nothing more rewarding than helping people through dark times and giving
hope for a brighter future. Deep down, I m an idealist with enough life experience to pepper my
expectations. There are countless possible research topics within the mental health field, but I ve
recently developed a deep appreciation of suicide prevention since volunteering for the Kern County
Mental Health Hotline. I ve also become acutely aware of the relationship between suicide and mood
disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder. According to the CDC, suicide is the second
leading cause of death for people aged 15 34 years old, and the 10th leading cause of death overall. An
estimated 90% of those who have died by suicide suffered from mental illness. That makes mental
illness the top risk factor (NAMI, 2016). I was able to find these statistics quite readily, but I couldn t
find anything relating specifically to mood disorders. Since I am not sure of what type of research
already exists on the subject matter, a literature review would be the perfect place to start. Not only
would a review help verify that this is direction of research has potential, it would help to develop my
understanding of the topic. If I do find that work has been done on the topic, I could narrow my scope

Domestication Of Bananas And Plantain

Domestication of Bananas and Plantain (Musa spp.)
Abstract
Bananas and plantains (Musa spp.) are one of the major staple foods in the world. In 2006 the
estimated world production of bananas was 80.6 million tons while 16.8 tons were traded (Cohen,
2011). Although bananas are common today, the origins of the banana are complex and occurred over
thousands of years during multiple stages. Archeologists focused on the Kuk Valley of New Guininea,
the area where the domestication of bananas supposedly took place around 8,000 BCE (Before
Common Era) (Bot, 2007). The study of banana history has been difficult because banana pollen and
seeds were rare or absent at archaeological sites. It wasn t until recent technologies and the use of
multi disciplinary research that we could gain a better understanding. Genetics and linguistic studies
also help in understanding the banana origin (Hirst, 2015). Diploid and triploid forms of bananas have
been identified and their distribution throughout the world is a key piece of evidence in unlocking the
truth about banana domestication.
Introduction
The banana (Musa spp.) is a large perennial herb with leaf sheaths that form their pseudostems,
meaning they are rather giant herbs than trees. Both the plantain and banana are sterile and
parthenocarpic so the fruit is seedless. The plant is made up of 8 12 leaves that are about 9ft tall and
2ft wide (Chia and Huggins, 1992). Bananas are considered the

Questions about what should be protected under free speech have arisen, causing this country to
question how far free speech should truly extend, some arguing that certain speech or protest works to
harm society, not advance it. In 1977 members of the Nazi Party of America announced their intention
to walk through Skokie, Illinois in Nazi regalia carrying swastikas. Skokie, a majority Jewish
community and the home to many Holocaust survivors, erupted in anger as the residents attempted to
stop the Nazis from marching. Residents of Skokie and sympathizers across the country argued that
the protest aimed to incite hate against a particular religious group and inflict emotional harm. Many
agreed with this point of view but the ACLU stepped in to protect the rights of the Nazi Party and their
rights to free speech as protected by the 1st Amendment. The ACLU and the Nazis were successful
and they retained their right to march wherever they wanted and say whatever they pleased. Although
their speech was undoubtedly hateful and hurtful they still had the right to share their ideas.
(Bekiempis) In response to the march residents of Skokie decided to open a Holocaust memorial
museum in order to combat hatred with education. (Stone) The ultimate goal of any peaceful
resistance is to spread ideas and influence the minds of the population. In the case of Skokie the march
illuminated a problem in society the prevalence of excessive anti semitism. This realization informed
many of the need for more Holocaust education, leading to the improvement of society. Even when a

Francophone s population remained a minority in Northern America. The tension between the two ethnicities worsened, so the French asked for an independent nation. • 6. 12 Angry Men Rhetorical Analysis One of the most valuable abilities an individual can possess is dauntlessness and the art of persuasion. In the film 12 Angry Men by Reginald Rose, twelve members of the jury must determine and issue a final decree on whether an inner city teenager is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt or not guilty of his father s murder. Despite the numerous factual evidence provided, a majority of the jurors are convinced without reasonable doubt that the young boy is guilty and should be sentenced to death. These abilities are undoubtedly illustrated when one juror decides to stand against eleven jurors in transforming the fate of the teenage boy. The individual is Juror 8. He utilizes the act of courage to stand against the other jurors in what he believes is an unfair judgment and also uses persuasion to alter their decisions. Through analyzing juror 8 s dialogue and his employment of rhetorical techniques with each juror, the readers can discern his unique traits of courage and persuasion. First, Let s examine Juror 8 s demeanor. He appears to be a gentle, quiet and an astute man. In the initial jury vote, he is the only juror that votes not guilty while the rest votes guilty. Thus, he exhibits that he is a man that values justice and is willing to fight for it. His display of dubitatio is recognized when he says, I don t know whether I believe it or not. Maybe I don t. (Lumet Rose, 1957). He is uncertain whether the boy is innocent or guilty but merely seeks the truth. He further states that it is not easy for him to send a boy off to die without talking about it first (Lumet Rose, 1957). While justifying to Juror 7 why he cast a not guilty vote, Juror 8 utilizes pathos to sway the jurors. Look, this boy s been kicked around all his life. You know, living in a slum, his mother dead since he was nine. That s not a very good head start, he says (Lumet Rose, 1957). Juror 8 points to the boy s poor upbringing in a bid to persuade the others to reconsider discussing the case before making a hasty judgment. He also uses his moderate touch and amiable expressions to calm Juror 9 from the comments made by Juror 10. Consequently, it is apparent that Juror 8 s attitude in determining facts to the ... She uses the book as a tool to reflect on her life and the affect her father had on her. She discovers how her fathers closeted sexuality affected her childhood and her transition into adulthood. His death left a powerful mark and left her searching for answers. She clearly states this when she says, it s true that he didn t kill himself until I was nearly twenty. But his absence resonated retroactively, echoing back through all the time I knew him. (23). This feeling drove her to look back on their relationship and find what binds her so strongly to a man she never understood. She discovered how her fathers closeted sexuality affected her childhood, her sexuality, and her relationship with literature. Bechdel opens the book with a scene of her playing with her father. She uses this memory of them playing airplane (3) to describe the normal part of their relationship. This is contrasted by the frequent outbursts she describes throughout her childhood. In chapter 1 she uses the film It s a Wonderful Life as an analogy. This lab will teach how to average constant data and find the standard deviation, as well as how to use the Statistics and Linear Fit tools. It will also introduce using Excel to create tables and graphs. Theory: A thermometer, a device used to measure temperature, was used in this lab to collect data. The thermometer works by reaching thermal equilibrium with the object that is being measured. Heat transfers from the object with a higher temperature to the object with a lower temperature, which causes the temperature reading on the thermometer to change. This can be described by Newton s Law of Heating and Cooling, which states that the rate of an object s temperature change is proportional to the difference between the object s temperature and the temperature of its environment. This predication can be seen in the equation: ΔT/Δt= k (T T0) (Equation 1) ΔT/Δt is the change is temperature over the change in time, and T0 is the temperature of the object. The temperature will continue to change until a thermal equilibrium is reached. In this lab, the temperature of the air (T0=Tair) and the temperature of a hand (T0=Thand) will be measured. Procedure: A digital thermometer is connected to the Lab Pro interface, which allows the Logger Pro software to collect data and show the readings on a graph on the computer. Room temperature is ... Therefore, it is not surprising that the characters of Kindred by Octavia Butler fight throughout the book to gain power from each other. They all use methods ranging from violence to influence to gain even a slight amount of power from each other. Even Alice and Dana who are enslaved women during the 1800 s are able to use their words to influence their owners and the powerful white men in society. Like other black women during this time period, they use their bodies and other unconventional methods to slowly gain power over their owners until they are able to influence them to do what they want. Henceforth, Butler wants to demonstrate to the reader that, even during the antebellum south, enslaved women were able to use their influence, resilience and courage to eventually gain power over their owners. Alice ultimately has the most power in the book. She might seem like the most powerless character because of her ethnicity and gender, but her resilience and ability to influence others makes her the most omnipotent. For instance, she was abused, threatened, and even raped by Rufus; but her constraint of giving him the one thing that he wanted made her hold the power over him. • 16. Symbolism In Robert Frost s Nothing Gold Can Stay Robert Frost was born in San Francisco, 1923. It was a political poem because Robert Frost feared for World War II. He showed that fear in the poem. Narrative because it is telling the story of life throughout the poem. This title is not obvious to what the poem is about because he uses metaphors and symbolism. Due to this the title isnt literal. Although in the poem there aren t any phrases repeated, the word gold is said many times. Seasons are passing during the time of this poem. It starts with Spring but once he says, then leaf subsides to leaf he is implying that time is passing. Ordinarily Eden would be based off of the bible and kind of is but in this poem that character is mainly represented as mother nature. Robert Frost was deliberately concealing information from the audience because he came to the conclusion that if he shows strong political veiws than everyone else is going to either completely agree or disagree. This would not be good because they were on the verge of World War II. Robert Frost s poem, Nothing Gold Can Stay does not show any signs of habits, dress, behavior, speech, or a particular group of people. Along the lines of fantasy versus reality, this is undoubtedly reality. He talks about childhood fading away until we dont have our innocence anymore. Bitter sweet is how Robert Frost expresses the tone of his poem. He is explaining how wonderful it is when you hang onto your gold but, also narrates how difficult it is for it to stay. For the reader s mood is sad, as they are sorry for mother nature and understand how innocent childhood was. Therefore the mood is making the readers feel unhappy. Youth and nature are both equal themes in this poem because if you take the poem literally it is perfectly describing nature bt once you dig around it is also clearly describing youth and how you cant keep it. The personification in this peice helps hide distinguished lines between literal and figurtive meanings in this poem. His poem begins frolicking but then decreases in speed because the poem gets more sad the farther you go. This seems to go right along with the theme and doesnt go faster than it should. He is using lots of vivid imagery in this poem in a pleasant way even though in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Needs, as noted by Freud, which need to be met during each of these stages of development are present from the moment of birth. If the needs are not met or if the needs are overly met, the child will experience frustration or overindulgence issues (Stevenson, 1996). In addition to the issues of frustration or overindulgence, should the child become fixated upon a particular stage the methods the child uses to obtain satisfaction for that stage will affect the child throughout adulthood (Stevenson, 1996). How did Freud identify these theories? Did Freud sexually assault his young patients? From studies that have been conducted on Freud s research the findings show that Freud abandoned his seduction theory when he began to realize that the accounts of sexual abuse by parents were not true. In fact, Freud noted that these accounts were most probably due to the patient s repressed sexual desires for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Diabetic Neuropathy Essay Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is among the chronic microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus due to hyperglycemia. Prevalence of diabetic neuropathy is high, affecting more than 60% of diabetics (Boulton et al., 2005). The clinical manifestation of diabetic neuropathy include numbness, tingling sensation in toes, feet, legs, arms, hands and fingers (Kumar et al.). It leads to significant morbidity, impact on quality of life of patients (Zychowska et al.) and increases the risk of infections leading to the foot ulcers and non traumatic amputations (Bansal et al.). In diabetic neuronal cells, hyperglycemic flux activates four cellular pathways: the polyol, advanced glycation end product, protein kinase C, and hexosamine pathways increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It leads to the reduced coupling efficiency in mitochondria and increased superoxide radical generation damaging both nuclear DNA and mitochondrial DNA leading to activation of poly ADP ribose polymerase enzyme (PARP) (Fernyhough et al.Brownlee, 2001; Nishikawa et al., 2000b, to be added). PARP activation leads to inactivation of AMPK which facilitates mitochondrial biogenesis. Thus, PARP activation compromises the cellular mitochondrial genesis which leads to accumulation of damaged mitochondria in the cell. Molecular studies have revealed the involvement of transcriptional regulators such as Nrf2, NF κB, and COX 2 inflammatory cascade in the pathology of diabetic neuropathy. The Nuclear factor 2 erythroid related factor (Nrf2) is a redox transcription factor for the production of endogenous antioxidant defenses and detoxifying enzymes. Nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer of β cells(NF κB) is a transcription factor, involved in pro inflammatory cytokine production (Negi et al.). Both Nrf2 and NF κB regulation are co ordinated in order to maintain redox homeostasis in healthy cells. However, during pathological conditions this regulation is disturbed offering an opportunity for therapeutic intervention. Diabetic neuropathy is a condition , in which change in expression pattern of Nrf2 and NF κB has been reported(Koriyama et ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the legacy of Khan is also one of cultural development, artistic achievement, an elegant way of life and an entire continent united under the Pax Mongolia. The famed leader and his successors created the largest empire ever to exist, spanning across the entire Asian continent. An empire as such could not have been created without strong leadership, stellar organizational skills and the most resilient army ever known. Genghis Khan may be well known for his brutality and destructive cavalry however, Khan did good for his own people and earned the Mongolians a reputation of glory. Genghis Khan was an emperor, who lead his people in such a way that was accepted in the tenth century. Back then war was a very reality, and if it involved massacres, then it was generally tolerated. However, many people forget that Khan s rampage left such a path of destruction that he irrevocably destroyed entire empires and populations in the interest of habitable environments. In more recent times, people have pointed out that Joseph Stalin was responsible for nearly twenty million deaths. This death toll would have made him more brutal than the Nazis, who held a death total of seventeen million people(White). Yet, Stalin cannot even compare to the brutality of the Mongols under the leadership of Khan. Genghis Khan was responsible for the deaths of roughly forty million people, and he was glad to ... • 28. What Is The Theme Of Mushrooms By Sylvia Plath A quiet revolution: perhaps oxymoronic sounding upon first glance. However, the poem Mushrooms by Sylvia Plath paints a picture of a story about exactly that, doing so through a subtle metaphor and simple but powerful visual imagery. Though a poem about the oppression of a group of people, it does not tell a story of despair. In fact, it s quite the opposite, speaking instead of an uprising of a different sort, of a hope as modest as the mushrooms themselves. Mushrooms may seem at first like a very peculiar thing to base an entire poem around. However, the author leaves scattered hints throughout the stanzas that this may be about more than a bunch of timid fungi. The first hint of this is in the second stanza: our toes, our noses / take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Picking out specific lines from the poem, you can tell that this is a poem of triumph, one disguised as a story of oppression much like how the simple mushrooms are disguised as soft and non intimidating. Nobody sees us / stops us, betrays us / the small grains make room. These lines on stanza three show the beginning of the mushrooms presence on the Earth, as grains of dirt part to let them through. This is only the first indication of the beginning of a revolution. One that only grows as they grow, So many of us! So many of us! the author cheers in stanza eight. By sheer number and by sheer will, the mushrooms continue to take over unnoticed, unannounced. And by the poem s end, a battle had been won. And this is naturally something to take pride in. • 31. Hind Swaraj And Indian Western Civilization Analysis Since the 17th century, Britain had been established on the Indian subcontinent along with the influence of its Western economic, political, military, and educational systems. In Hind Swaraj or Indian Home Rule, Gandhi repudiates Britain s Western civilization as essentially secular, failing to embody morality and religion and instead indulging in materialism. In contrast, the morally superior Indian civilization is anchored in the belief of God. Therefore, he argues that India must achieve Swaraj or self rule from Britain to preserve and embrace the true India created by its ancestors. Successful passive resistance against the British Raj, through individual swaraj or complete control over one s own physical body and soul, will enable India to cure the disease of civilization. Gandhi begins his critique of Western civilization by listing its symptoms, most importantly, industrialization. The development of machinery has transformed everyday life in Europe and has attempted to promote overall well being of the individual and society. However, Gandhi differentiates this means of progress as strictly superficial, believing these developments only promote bodily happiness and self indulgence. In the past, for example, men were required to manually plow land, but this long process evolved with the invention of the steam engine so that a single man can plow significantly more land and thereby gain the monetary rewards for the machine s efficiency. By contrasting previous ways of life to reality, Gandhi emphasizes the changes brought about by civilization and the newfound reliance on superfluous wealth to buy superfluities for the means of physical comfort. Money, Gandhi argues, is England s god and guides the pathway of Britain s goal to convert the whole world into a vast market for their goods (37). Western civilization induces moral weakness, allowing people to give in to their earthly desires, making bodily welfare the object of life (31). The illusion of wealth as the means to happiness is the focal point of civilization and will ultimately lead to its own destruction. Conclusively, Britain s persistent, yet remediable disease of Western civilization is a grossly incompetent model for India. True ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Biometrics Security System Although, there are lots of benefits of biometrics security system, it really has many flaws in its system. Each biometrics application method has weaknesses which could cause problems because of its users. For instance, if the biometrics security system uses fingerprints to identify its users and an incident causes the person to cut his/her finger then it can be a problem throughout the verification process. For voice recognition methods, illnesses such as strep throat will make it hard for authorized users to obtain access to their information. Another factor that will influence voice recognition systems is the continuous aging of its users. Noise in an environment where voice recognition is used to identify its users can also allow it to be hard for users to be identified. For iris or retinal scanning applications, users might find it very intrusive. Users might also have the concern for the safety of the eyes throughout the iris or retinal scan. Furthermore, databases used to store user identification data will soon be very large which might form a potential threat. For scanning retinal/iris characteristics and storing wide range of database, biometrics system requires new and modern technology. Therefore, the price for equipment can also be expensive. Deep down, I m an idealist with enough life experience to pepper my expectations. There are countless possible research topics within the mental health field, but I ve recently developed a deep appreciation of suicide prevention since volunteering for the Kern County Mental Health Hotline. I ve also become acutely aware of the relationship between suicide and mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder. According to the CDC, suicide is the second leading cause of death for people aged 15 34 years old, and the 10th leading cause of death overall. An estimated 90% of those who have died by suicide suffered from mental illness. That makes mental illness the top risk factor (NAMI, 2016). I was able to find these statistics quite readily, but I couldn t find anything relating specifically to mood disorders. Since I am not sure of what type of research already exists on the subject matter, a literature review would be the perfect place to start. • 36. Domestication Of Bananas And Plantain Katie Twyman May 28th, 2015 PLB 143: Gepts Domestication of Bananas and Plantain (Musa spp.) Abstract Bananas and plantains (Musa spp.) are one of the major staple foods in the world. In 2006 the estimated world production of bananas was 80.6 million tons while 16.8 tons were traded (Cohen, 2011). Although bananas are common today, the origins of the banana are complex and occurred over thousands of years during multiple stages. Archeologists focused on the Kuk Valley of New Guininea, the area where the domestication of bananas supposedly took place around 8,000 BCE (Before Common Era) (Bot, 2007). The study of banana history has been difficult because banana pollen and seeds were rare or absent at archaeological sites. It wasn t until recent technologies and the use of multi disciplinary research that we could gain a better understanding. Genetics and linguistic studies also help in understanding the banana origin (Hirst, 2015). Diploid and triploid forms of bananas have been identified and their distribution throughout the world is a key piece of evidence in unlocking the truth about banana domestication. Introduction The banana (Musa spp.) is a large perennial herb with leaf sheaths that form their pseudostems, meaning they are rather giant herbs than trees. Both the plantain and banana are sterile and parthenocarpic so the fruit is seedless. The plant is made up of 8 12 leaves that are about 9ft tall and 2ft wide (Chia and Huggins, 1992). Wide dissemination of ideas and changes to the law were products of the gay rights movement. In the 1960 s gay rights were practically nonexistent. In 1977 members of the Nazi Party of America announced their intention to walk through Skokie, Illinois in Nazi regalia carrying swastikas. Skokie, a majority Jewish community and the home to many Holocaust survivors, erupted in anger as the residents attempted to stop the Nazis from marching. Residents of Skokie and sympathizers across the country argued that the protest aimed to incite hate against a particular religious group and inflict emotional harm. Many agreed with this point of view but the ACLU stepped in to protect the rights of the Nazi Party and their rights to free speech as protected by the 1st Amendment. The ACLU and the Nazis were successful and they retained their right to march wherever they wanted and say whatever they pleased. Although their speech was undoubtedly hateful and hurtful they still had the right to share their ideas. The modern day scientists of this era began to criticize the Aristotelian and Medieval Cosmological views of the world as a result of further experimentation. Furthermore, the Copernican heliocentric model of the universe created an uproar among scientists and theologians alike. Most scientists were loyal to Aristotle s cosmos and were unwilling to accept the new world view, while many religious advocates argued that the new world view was contrary to the teachings of the Bible.
