College Diversity Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of college diversity can be a challenging yet rewarding task. On
one hand, the subject matter is broad and multifaceted, encompassing various aspects of
diversity, such as cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. This complexity
requires careful research and thoughtful analysis to ensure a comprehensive and well-rounded
exploration of the theme.
The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between personal experiences and broader societal
perspectives. It is crucial to convey a genuine and authentic portrayal of one's own encounters
with diversity while also recognizing the broader implications and importance of diversity within
the college environment. Navigating this balance can be intricate, as the essay should neither
come across as overly self-centered nor overly detached.
Additionally, addressing the significance of diversity without falling into clichГ©s or generic
statements is a challenge. Admission committees read numerous essays on similar topics, and
standing out requires a unique perspective and a compelling narrative. It's essential to avoid
common pitfalls and demonstrate a deep understanding of diversity beyond surface-level
observations.
Furthermore, there is the challenge of fostering a connection with the reader. Crafting a narrative
that resonates with the audience and effectively communicates the impact of diversity on
personal growth and the college community requires skillful storytelling.
In conclusion, writing a college diversity essay demands a delicate balance between personal
reflection and broader societal awareness. It necessitates the ability to convey unique experiences
while acknowledging the larger context of diversity. Successfully navigating these complexities
requires careful thought, thorough research, and effective communication skills to create an essay
that not only meets the expectations of the admission committee but also stands out among the
multitude of similar submissions.
If you find yourself struggling with such essays or need assistance in developing compelling
narratives, various resources are available to provide guidance and support. Professional writing
services like HelpWriting.net offer expertise in crafting essays on diverse topics, providing
valuable assistance in shaping your ideas into a well-structured and impactful piece of writing.

Analysis Of House Of Scorpions By Nancy Farmer
In the story House of Scorpions, written by Nancy Farmer, the main character is
Matteo Alacran. The main setting is in the future in a new territory between
Mexico and the United States calle Opium. In the beginning of the story, it starts
of in a lab with a bunch of cells. Eventually they all die, leaving one, who is
believed to now be Matt. The main problem of the book is that Matt is a clone, and
that clones are considered filthy, retched creatures. The solution is that El Patron dies
and now Matt takes his place and is considered a real human. At the end of the story,
Matt is the new Lord of Opium.
Celia is a very caring character in the story. There are three examples of this. First,
she cared for Matt by letting him live in her house. Secondly, she helped him
escape from Rosa. She went to El Patron and had Rosa turned into an eejit. Finally,
she stood up for Matt so he wouldn t have to die for El Patron. She risked her own
life for Matt. She even played it off that she was an eejit. ... Show more content on

The downfall of Enron also illustrates both the importance of corporate governance to
corporate performance, and the inherent susceptibility to corruption present in any
system of corporate governance. Further, from an international perspective, one is
tempted to ask whether the Enron debacle could happen in Europe or Japan or
whether it demonstrates a vulnerability unique to the U.S. system of corporate
governance. I have three observations to make on this issue. First and foremost, the
Enron fiasco demonstrates the acute pressure felt by U.S. corporate management to
produce superior performance results. As discussed later in this Article, Enron s
financial maneuvering, which led to the company s massive 2001 restatement of
earnings, was prompted only in 1997 when Enron came under significant pressure
from investors. Essentially, Enron s corporate performance was consistent for a
considerable period of time prior to 1997. 4 However, between 1996 and 1997, the
firm s profits and return on equity each declined by ninety percent. 5 The sudden
deterioration in performance pressured management to engage in transactions that
increased revenue and moved debt off of the firm s

The Contributions Of Freud And The Case Of Sigmund
Freud
Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, is predominantly recognized as one of
the most influential and authoritative thinkers of the twentieth century. Freud gave a
broad perspective on things involving dreams, religion, and cultural artifacts while
still focusing on different states of the mind, such as unconsciousness. Freud also
relied on a local sexual repression issue to create theories about human behavior. His
theories and ideas of psychoanalysis still have a strong impact on psychology and
early childhood education today. Freud s most important claim is that with
psychoanalysis he had invented a new science of the mind, however, remains the
subject of copious critical debate and controversy. Sigmund Freud was born... Show

Freud believed that people could be cured by making conscious their unconscious
thoughts and motivations, which will allow one to gain insight. The aim of
psychoanalysis therapy is to release repressed emotions and experiences. For
example, making the unconscious conscious. Freud had a massive impact on the
way people viewed mental illnesses during the First World War. During this time,
many psychoanalysts were drafted into war efforts, as physicians or as psychiatrists,
due to the rise in war neuroses. Many psychiatrists at the time believed that when
soldiers showed symptoms of constant nervousness, nightmares, and traumatic
memories of war experiences, they were merely cowards trying to escape combat.
During the First World War, this perception started to change and people began to
think that these symptoms were signs of real psychiatric problems. Shortly after,
Freud created a model of the mind called the Psychic
Estragon In Waiting For Godot
The relationship between Vladimir and Estragon in Waiting for Godot. Why do they
stay together, despite frequent suggestions that they part? The dramatist and poet
Samuel Beckett, born in 1906 in Ireland, can definitely be addressed as one of the
most influential writers of the twentieth century. Samuel Beckett has been attributed
the label of the last modernist as well as the first post modernist. His plays are filled
with dark humour and absurdities, Beckett s play Waiting for Godot1, which he
composed between 1948 1949, is a good example of his minimalistic style and stage
setting. Godot is one of Beckett s most controversial plays and well known in the
international literary world. The play received much criticism in conjunction with...

The games are a welcome distraction from the uncertainty of waiting, Vladimir and
Estragon both feel relieved when they find a game to play. Didi and Gogo seem
relatively happy and content playing their games to occupy them during the long
wait. Svalkvist argued in her essay; Vladimir and Estragon create a foundation of
values, a self, by choosing their actions and beliefs, i.e. choosing to continue to wait
for Godot and to play games with each other. (14). By playing their games they
simultaneously create meaning and make choices. The men frequently find
themselves in situations in which they must make a choice; the most compelling
choice being to stay put and continue to wait for Godot. The distracting games create
meaning, in a way a meaning for both of their existence, however their games are
also being used by Vladimir and Estragon to escape the reality of the situation; to
escape this anguish. (Svalkvist 15). The highly ironic relationship Vladimir and
Estragon have with each other is present throughout the whole play Godot. Karic
stated that the concept of irony is present in their mutual behaviour and their contacts
with the outside world. (239). The protagonists cruelty also plays a significant role in

Childhood Development And Child Development Essay
My topic is Early Childhood Development and this is the finding to know if
attending pre school or head start would help the child s development and have the
child more prepared for kindergarten. This topic is based on the social learning
theory and how each family teaches their child differently.
I have chosen to do my topic on Early Childhood Development because of my
practicum being a developmental center (Inspire), also because I have a passion in
working with families and children. This appeals to me because I know that if the
families enroll their child in the pre school program, the child will benefit from it
and will be more prepared for kindergarten. Usually agencies like this prefer low
income parents and if you meet the requirements, there is a good possibility that the
child will attend. I have met families that would like their child to attend because
they know that it is a better outcome for them, but in their household, they have a
high income. Some research says that the children that attended early head start
programs were more development ready for kindergarten. Inspire has a Region
Head Start (RHS) which is for 3 5 year old children and this program helps the
children socialize with others, solve problems and have other experiences, which will
help them become more self confident (Inspire, 2016).
The theory I will focus on is the Social Learning Theory. Albert Banduratheory
explains that people learn from one another, either from modeling, imitation
The Origin of Species
In 1859, a time when literal interpretation of the Bible was common practice, a book
that could potentially debase society s understanding of what was fact was published
and it summarized a theory that humans have slowly evolved from a primitive form,
commonly called the Theory of Evolution.(Kennedy Pg.572) The book titled On the
Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured
Races in the Struggle for Life was written by an English naturalist and geologist,
Charles Darwin, and it overcame the scientific rejection that earlier similar theories
had faced. Leading up to his publication during the Protestant Reformation Darwin
went on a five year long voyage on the HMS Beagle as company to Captain Robert...

(Newman, Letter)
Another event that led to Darwin s controversial writing were the discoveries he
made from his documentation on his long voyage on the HMS Beagle where he did
all of his research and discoveries written about in his book. One of his first
discoveries that linked evolution to living creatures left him with more of an inquiry
than an answer or discovery. He noted the geographical distribution of the modern
species of a fossil he found while ashore resembling a huge armadillo in hopes of
finding their centre of creation. ( ) He extensively edited his research and added
his findings until the original book was completed and finally published on
Thursday, November 24th, 1859 and all copies being sold were immediately
bought up by booksellers. During Darwin s lifetime he published 6 different
editions of the book and the one that really shook society what the final writing

when the title was shortened from its original length) in which was the only time he
used the word evolution ; though, however, every edition concluded with the word
evolved . The most notable change to this newly published edition of Darwin s book
was a chapter 7 titled Miscellaneous objections that addressed any objections that
were sure to come from opposition of his Theory of Evolution.
The immediate significance of Darwin s book were tremendous mostly due to hostile

As a classroom teacher, how can you learn about your culture and your students
cultures and communities?
Some of the most successful methods used by teachers, even the federal government,
to learn about culture are by letting each student share their culture through food and
explain the history behind their dish. Simply, by appealing to the students to
converse about or share dishes distinctively in their ethnicity, allows the student to
show family values, environment of home, family dynamics and social skills. The
principal way to bring about such a task is, have a cultural food fair. Asking each
student to prepare a preferred dish and assemble information about the preparation

What are common misconceptions about teaching children who are English language
learners? What can you do to support them?
According to the reading of the textbook and general information about the
misconceptions of English learning and teaching is, teachers in conventional

different dialects, cultures, and learning conditions. Each teacher should know to

Statute Of Limitations In Criminal Law
Across the United States, many criminal courts have created a rule known as statute
of limitations. Statute of limitations sets forth a time limit to raising a legal issue in
order to not only maintain the integrity of evidence gathered for the trial, but to also
protect people from being harassed about a crimethat was never tried a long time
ago. In order to begin a criminal case within statute of limitations, a prosecutor must
bring forth formal charges against a defendant within a specific amount of time after
a crime is first discovered by law enforcement. The amount of time that a prosecutor
can file criminal charges against a defendant depends on the crime s classification
under the federal or state criminal code. Because of the different classifications of
crimes in criminal codes, there are several forms of time limitations that prosecutors
should know before deciding to file criminal charges against a defendant.
The first type of offense is known as an infraction. In the criminal code, infractions
are crimes that carry a punishment of paying a fine ( Felonies, Misdemeanors and
Infractions: The Differences , n.d.). Once law enforcement discovers this type of
offense, the prosecutor is given exactly six months to file charges against the
defendant ( Time Limits for Charges: State Criminal Statutes of Limitations , n.d.).
Some examples of infractions can include citations for parking violations, running a
red light, and speeding.
The next type of offense is known as

Starbucks s Marketing Strategy For The Coffee Industry...
Starbucks is one of the top contenders in the coffee industry and their income
statement will provide potential investors with a strong perspective and
understanding into the company s earnings over time. According to Morningstar,
Starbucks Corporation s (SBUX) revenues have consistently grown from $10,707
million USD in 2010 to $16,448 million USD in 2014, while its competitor, Dunkin
Doughnuts had a revenue of $577 million in 2010 and $749 million in 2014. These
statistics definitely reveal that Starbucksgenerates a substantially larger volume of
revenue than Dunkin Doughnuts. Starbucks s revenue over the five year period
indicates the company has strong brand recognition with consumers for its high
quality products and attracts a high income customer base. Additionally, Starbucks
rapid pace of growth domestically and internationally has created a large target
market, which positively influenced revenues. Furthermore, the introduction of
Starbucks and Tazo brand single serve K cup packs into grocery stores and other
retail stores has significantly increased Starbucks revenue. Even during the economic
financial crisis in the United States, Starbucks revenue continued on an upward trend.
Starbucks gross profit showed a continuous rise between the years of 2010 to 2014
just like their competitor, Dunkin Doughnuts. Both companies had positive increases
in profits over the last five years, however; Starbucks seems relatively more
financially stable and a

main parts, northern Italy and the southern Italy, both are unique. In the northern
portion of the Italy there is more of an industrially dominated area where private
companies have most of the control. The southern region of Italy is much more

Adams did not. (Radelet, 2011). After Adams took the stand and pleaded once again
his ignorance of the crime, the prosecution presented a signed document that they
claimed was Adams confession; but in reality stated that at some point during the day,
Adams had been near the scene of the crime. They then sent to the stand surprise
witnesses that the defense was not informed of. The defense intended to cross
examine the witnesses but the prosecutions said that they were out of town and
would be unable to return. Not surprisingly the jury returned a verdict of guilty; now
the prosecution would turn its attention to Mr. Adams sentence (Martin, 2011).
Seeking the death penalty the prosecution called on two expert witnesses:
psychiatrist Dr. James Grigson, whom was known as Dr. Death, and Dr. John
Holbrook, who was the former chief of psychiatry for the Texas Department of
Corrections (Radelet, 2011). The American Psychiatric Association has stated on
multiple occasions that it is impossible to predict future criminal acts of offenders
(Radelet, 2011). However, Grigson and Holbrook testified that if Adams were to be
released, he would most certainly be a great danger to society. Grigson had testified
before this in hundreds of similar cases that ended with a death penalty, hence why he
is known as Dr. Death. For the death
Demography s Classic Transition Theory
Demography s classic transition theory furthers the modernization narrative that is
central to this argument. The theory presents a three phase timeline to explain the
reproductive history of all nations. Countries begin in the pre transition phase where
high mortality and high birth rates create slow populationgrowth, which is
considered a traditional society. The second phase is the transition where slowing
mortality rates and high birth rates produce raid population growth. During this stage
birth rate should begin to fall if the country is actively attempting to become a
modern society. In the final stage low birth rates and low mortality rates bring the
population growth back to a slow or stagnant pace, which is a modern society... Show

In contrast, the understanding of factors such as gender to be social constructed and
uniquely situated in cultural contexts enables the political economy theory to explain
how reproduction is constructed differently across time and space. Moreover, the
anthropological foundation of the political economy theory forces such theories to
account for the standard of living in its understanding of positive reproductive
scenarios. A greater understanding of these theories divergent nature occurs when
viewing reproductive systems under both lenses. One reproductive behavior that
appears radically different when compared under both theories is the system of
Birth Spacing in the Congo. Nacy Rose Hunt presents this practice in her article, Le
Bebe en Brousse : European women, African Birth Spacing and Colonial
Intervention in Breast Feeding in the Belgian Congo. Birth spacing was a cultural
practice where women abstained from sexual intercourse for two or three years
while they were breast feeding (Hunt 1988: 404). This practice aided maternal and
infant health and was widely practiced before colonial domination (Hunt 1988: 401).
However, the practice lessened under colonial occupation and created an increase in
population growth. Under the political economy framework the effect of colonialism

Our aim is to provide critical reviews on the latest, most significant developments in
selected topic areas that are at the cutting edge of the application of computers in
fisheries and their application to the conservation and management of aquatic
resources. In many cases, these are the same authors who contributed to the first
edition, so the decade of perspective they provide is unique and insightful. Many of
the topics in this book cover areas that were predicted in 1989 to be important in the
future (Walters 1989) and continue to be at the forefront of applications that drive
our science forward: image processing, stock assessment, simulation and games, and
networking. The chapters that follow update these areas as well as introduce several
new chapter topic areas. While we recognize the challenge of attempting to present up
to date information given the rapid pace of change in computers and the long time
lines for publishing books, we hope that the chapters in this book taken together, can
be valuable where they suggest emerging trends and future directions that impact the
role computers are likely to serve in fisheries research.

A. Abstract
Crude sodium bicarbonate or commonly known as soda ash may contain amounts of
impurities like chlorides and hydroxides. The total acid neutralizing capacity of a
soda ash sample, its alkalinity value, was stated in terms of mass of sodium carbonate
. In doing so, any sodium hydrogen carbonate present in the sample was converted
to its equivalent neutralizing capacity in terms of sodium carbonate. A mass of the
impure sample was dissolved and diluted in distilled water. 3 drops of indicator was

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thomson
Las Vegas is a place where a lot can be gained but a lot can be lost. Everything that
happens there is based on luck. If you are feeling lucky Vegas might be the option
for you. Vegas is a place for risk takers and gamblers and for people trying to
achieve something. In Hunter S. Thompson s novel Fear and Loathing in Las
Vegas, Duke and Gonzo take a road trip to Vegas. Drugs and alcohol were
prominent in the main characters journey and the substances were used to show
Duke and Gonzo escape from life, their path to find the American Dream and to
bring out the truth of the drug culture in America. Drugs and alcohol can be used
as a depressant or as a stimuli but one thing is certain is that they help forget who
you are and what you are doing in life. They keep you away from thinking. Duke
and Gonzo were afraid of thinking. They did not like where their lives were
headed so they did drugs and got drunk. Ether is a drug they used and one the main
advantages of it is that it makes you behave like the village drunkard in some early
Irish novel... total loss of all basic motor skills: blurred vision, no balance, numb
tongue severance of all connection between the body and the brain (19). This drug
allowed them to stop thinking about their life. It cuts the connection and your body is
just floating and that is it. They are so afraid of the future that they do not want to
think about it. The drugs and alcohol also keep themselves from feeling. Duke

was on November 9, 1938 that it began and though the Nazis despised Jews, they
claimed that there was more to the pogrom and why it happened. The pretext for the
pogroms was the shooting in Paris on November 7 of the German diplomat Ernst vom
Rath by a Polish Jewish student, Herschel Grynszpan. (Berenbaum 1) This means that
the main excuse for Kristallnacht was the shooting of a German Official by a Jew.
This shooting had angered the Nazis and led to the pogrom. In its aftermath, German
officials announced that Kristallnacht had erupted as a spontaneous outburst of
public sentiment in response to the assassination of Ernst vom Rath. ( Kristallnacht.
1) After the event, German officials told the public that Kristallnacht happened
suddenly due to the assassination of one of their own, and they were not entirely
responsible for it. The Germans were actually blaming the Jews for the destruction of

Write An Essay On The Evolution Of Opsin
The multi colored and in depth vision that most humans and multiple organisms
share today stem from a vast history of prior organisms being only able to capture
light through their eye lenses in order to see at most only four to five colors
including black and white. While it is true that most organisms today and prior have
shared the same common tissues and functions that manufacture the anatomical
structure of the eye, throughout the years and the environmental changes, the eye
has adapted or mutated with it. The eye is made of opsin that is essential in the eye
in order for the image and light extracted to be transferred to the brain to create an
image; Essentially, an opsin is a kind of molecule that conveys information from the

The repurposing of the eye from bacteria and our ancestors with a primitive anatomy,
comes from the mutation of having three light gathering molecules to transcribed the

the adapted three. This amazing mutation of having three molecules instead of two,
came about due to opsin 2 duplicating itself, and after multiple generations,
adaptations of opsin 3 would allow for it to be able to see an array of colors due to
the detection of an inundation of light (Finding the Origins of Color Vision). The
difference in invertebrates and vertebrates eye anatomy seemed to have lacked a

Essay on Samurais and Honorable Suicide
Death, its such an unexpected thing that happens to everyone at some point in their
life. Some people die old, some go young. Others go without warning, just
disappear from our lives without explanation. No letter, note or goodbye, they just
leave us to never return. Death, or in this situation suicide, where you may never
know why they did it. Just left with loose ends that will never be tied up. For others
its a glorious thing, they accept it as a way of life or something that has to be done
to save them or their family. Suicideis looked at differently in a particular cultures
compared to how other cultures do. The samurais see it as honor to them or their

This might seem absolutely outrageous to most people but in Japan this was a
respected decision that Kenzo made. When the village found out kenzo had died
they closed off his shop and covered his body. There was a ceremony held in his
honor to remember him as the great man he was. Kenzo was respected for the
decision to take his life, they understood why he did what he did and didn t question
a thing about it. The japanese are not like most people when it comes to suicide, they
accept and understand the actions of that person. Larissa MacFarquhar gives a great
example of how the Japanese view suicide in their culture:
The idea there is that one can take responsibility for the situation of your life by
committing suicide. If, say, you are the wage earner of a family and you are in
unrecoverable debt, you can commit suicide, and the thought is that that is an
honorable way out, that rather than evading your responsibility, you ve taken
responsibility. You ve admitted it is my fault, and I m going to punish myself for it.
(Larissa MacFarquhar)
This quote gives a very good description of how the japanese think when it comes to
committing suicide. She explains that they think if they re in a stuck position like
being in debt that you can commit suicide and you will be seen as taking the
honorable way out
Honor has always been a big part of the japanese culture. Especially back in the days

What Is Moore s View Of Corporate Social Responsibility
What is Moore s view of corporate social responsibility?
After GM began to announce that the company will be closing it s location in
Flint, Michigan and will be moving down to Mexico the whole city of Flint began
to deindustrialize. About half of Flint was left unemployed. Due to a lot of people
losing jobs, primarily from the GM company, more and more people were being
evicted from their houses and going on welfare. Because of the outsourcing it lead to
Flint becoming deindustrialized. A lot of the population was moving elsewhere,
which is also why rental companies were running out of vans to rent, due to a high
volume of people renting them. Neoliberalism also caused GM shut down its
factory and move to Mexico. The Free trade agreement was very beneficial for
Roger Smith where he can make more profit for the same amount of work. Smith
also mentioned in the film that he would rather be paying Mexican s $0.70 versus
paying the Americans more for the same labour. Neoliberalism is all about making
profit even if you re at your highest profit point. In Smith s case it was for his own
benefit to take advantage of the Free trade agreement to go down to Mexico where
the company can make more profit.
Deindustrialization didn t only affect GM, it also affected almost the rest of Flint,
Michigan. Most of Flint s citizens were being forced to go on Welfare because they
were unemployed. The documentary also showed the crime rate increasing as

Values are the ideas that influence the way we work our beliefs about the way that
we should support or care for others.
Values are important things in our lives, that can t be exchanged in any way or form.

Love
Believing in love is my third most important value. I know that someone is and

In conclusions, everyone values at least one thing in their life. My values are
mainly the things that create me for what I am today. Family is indeed the most
important, ethnicity is just what comes with me when I was born and I respect
that the most. Memories are things that I would never trade for in my life and will

Reflection on Health Care Workers
For health care workers, cultural competency is important for obvious reasons. On a
daily basis, healthcare professionals work with patients of a variety of cultures, and
many work with team members who come from different cultures than their own.
Medical and other healthcare professionals spend many years in school learning how
and when to treat patients for giving symptoms, but teaching them to interact with
patients currently falls on knowing the things that make up a person s cultural
identity. Cultural differences that exist between people, such as language, dress and
traditions, and the way societies organize themselves, their conception of morality
and religion, attitudes about illness and death and the way they interact with the
environment. Cultural competence is important in health care because the patient
outcome, patient readmissions, staff retention, and labor relations all determine the
outcome of an organizations success. Diversity improves the effectiveness and
productivity of the workforce. Disadvantages of ignoring cultural diversity can result
in a loss of revenue for the business. Company growth will also be affected by
ignoring cultural diversity. Steps an organization should take to face this challenge is
to implement training that cover workforce diversities and keep an open dialogue
among employees expressing concerns, differences, ideas, etc.
Culture factors I would consider in making my decision as a healthcare executive

Cults Of Personality Cult
The Problem with Personality Cults
What effects if any do cults of personalities have on a culture and society? When
we think of cults, we usually tend to think of a group who all follow one specific
belief or leader. According to Webster s Dictionary, a cult of personality is a
situation in which a public figure (such as a political leader) is deliberately
presented to the people of a country as a great person who should be admired and
loved. Of course, there are many problems that may arise in this situation, one being
that cults of personalities are a threat to a culture s freedom because they directly
target democracies and can extinguish a society s liberties by elevating one person to
such a point that they become god like in the eyes of their followers.
Cults of personality can be anything from mass worship to strong political support
of a leader. Charisma is crucial for leaders and an important tool in uniting a
following. Usually these leaders are very active and bubbly and act very interested in

Threshold Affects The Central Place Theory
1a)Range is defined as, the maximum distance people are willing to travel to use a
service. Range is applied to the central place theory in the way that, larger cities are
farther apart and offer services with high ranges. While smaller cities, which are
closer to each other, offer only services with small ranges. 1b)Threshold is defined

which have higher thresholds and only appear in large cities when they reach a

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Worldview Analysis
Worldview created in the novel One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest The story One
Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey describes a 1950 s Oregon mental
hospital that is administered by a cruel and abusive nurse named Miss. Ratched was
inspired by Kesey s own experience observing patients in a mental hospital. The 1950
s were a time of increasing social change and development culminating in
movements such as the civil rights and sexual revolution movements of the 60 s.
The novel ties sexual liberation to personal freedoms and shows that being able to
manage one s behavior and choices is a sign of independence. In One Flew over
the Cuckoo s Nest Ken Kesey persuades us to share the same worldview through
use of language and perspective, showing us the importance of freedom and the
impact of society on what freedoms we allow ourselves to have. The use of
perspective in showing Kesey s worldview is prominent in the descriptions of
conflicts between McMurphy and the other patients. The large differences between
McMurphy s view on behavioral freedoms vs the rigid structure are seen on page 54
when McMurphy gets into an argument with another patient about the suppression of
the men s speech by Nurse Ratched. McMurphy states that Nurse Ratched is a ball
cutter and that she is trying to get the men to fight each other and place themselves
in her control, the other man, Harding asserts that he is wrong and that Nurse

egalitarianism, larrikinism, anti intellectualism and stoicism. Published in 1958,
these ideologies symbolize the typical man in the days in was written, whereas
nowadays it can be perceived differently with modern, multicultural Australians.

Rhetorical Strategies In Ulysses S. Grant s Moral Address
Ulysses S. Grant s inaugural address the main idea is to support the people and
make the country great for them. He accomplishes this by using rhetorical
strategies. In his speech the devices he used was tone, imagery and lastly Key
Words. With him using these devices he is able to show how important the people
are in his presidency. He splits his speech into three sections, one about his
dedication to the people and the country. Secondly about the issues about the national
debt/economy and the west is a great place to start fixing it. Lastly about the smaller
issues that have to be taken care of like their future children, foreign policy and
refining the 15th amendment. He is dedicated to the people.
One of the most important rhetorical strategy that Grant uses in his inaugural
address is tone. He uses tone two out of three times first for his support for the
people and then in smaller issues near the end of his speech. The first time he
shows his enthusiasm in tone is when he says I bring to it a conscious desire and
determination to fill it to the best of my ability to the satisfaction of the people
(Grant). This line really shows and sounds for his determination and enthusiasm in
his speech to the people. This really helps him out later in the office because he gave
his trust to the people and now the people can give him their trust. The other place,
he uses tone is in the last section where he is talking about other issues ... Show more

Media And The Positive Effects Of Social Media
The positive effects of social media
What is your favorite social media source: Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter
Periscope, or maybe LinkedIn or dating sites? Social media has grown extremely in
the last years. For example, only in the second quarter of 2017, Facebook grew to
more than two billion monthly active users, including 236 million in the United
States and Canada two thirds of the combined population of those countries (Enis).
The social media makes our life better, easier and more interesting. The Internet lets
us use a lot of a different kind of social media for the different purpose. Every
person can find on the Internet what he/she wants. Maybe you want found friend
traveling to China together or you need to find a job and courses, or you can t find a
soulmate in your area, so, you can try to find it on the Internet.
In the modern world, the main source of communications has become an Internet.
Social media is one of the main parts of the Internet world. These sites help us to
post our comments, ideas, share our feelings, images, and videos (Dhanalakshmi).
This can help people to find people with same views and ideas. In the past, it was
difficult to find friends and adherents. Now it happens quick (Hire). You can find
friends for travel to the North Pole or for playing to billiard, for doing yoga or
building a boat together. Social Media helps people with disabilities to communicate
with the whole world and this awesome!
Social media is also a good source if you want a found a job. According to a survey
conducted by Reppler.com of 300 hiring managers, 91 percent of these hiring
managers say they use social networking sites to screen prospective employees. 76
percent check Facebook, 53 percent check Twitter and 48 percent check LinkedIn
(Hire). This means that anything you have on the social media sites is being
looked at by potential employers. This is a good thing because you can make your
profile more suitable for a particular company or vacancy. If you already have a job
or your own business and find some customers, a social media can help you very
quick. Many people s businesses are based on LinkedIn, Instagram, and others social

This recap is in reference to the paper submitted on September 20th, 2016 the
discussion and analysis of Delta Air Lines was a continuance of systems theory
evaluation of September 13, 2016 of the problem of effective communication in an

mandating feedback interdivisional boundaries. Independent divisional reporting to
management can result in individual and interdivisional specific performance in
benefits and drawbacks regarding identifying cooperation of promotional changes

performance result in reflection of misaligning of gaps between independent
divisional relations, procedures, and standards. A macro level restraint in

Analysis Of Disney Films From Netflix And From Google...
For the purposes of this study we generated a list of popularized Disney movies
from NetflixВ® and from Google searches of the top Disney movies from the
1980s and 1990s. We then took the generated list and randomly assigned each
movie a number and choose five different Disney movies. The movies selected
were Beauty and the Beast (1991), Mulan (1998), Hercules (1997), Little Mermaid
(1989), and Aladdin (1992). The four researchers were then all assigned a number
and randomly paired with a movie to independently watch and code with the
exception of the final movie which acted was watched by each member of the group
and coded for reliability.
Procedure
This study was designed as an event based, structure observational study where
researchers identified a set four behaviors prior to the study that which theoretically
two were stereotypically male and the remaining two were stereotypical female. Prior
to the study researchers generated four behaviors that they believed represented
stereotypical gender roles. The first behavior was giving orders and was defined as,
a verbal command where the character is demanding a behavior of another
character. Commanding phrase examples include a character stating you do this or
stop or leave my castle now. The first behavior was hypothesized to be stereotypically
male. The second behavior was also believed to be stereotypically male and was the
aggressive behavior of characters. The second behavior was defined as a physical or

The Child And The Shadow Summary
In the essay The Child and the Shadow, author Ursula LeGuin utilizes techniques of
Jungian psychology to connect the shadow of a young child to fantasy, and how this
specific genre could be used to further develop this part of humanity. The speech
begins with LeGuin summarizing a Hans Christian Andersen story about a man and
his shadow. The man, desiring to enter the House of Poetry, tells his shadow to go on
without him. His shadow departs from him, and both go their separate ways. Soon
after, however, the shadow returns and controls the man, eventually having him
killed. The purpose for the presence of this story is to tie literature and psychology
together, employing the Carl Jungs school of thought to describe the shadow and
the man. According to LeGuin, the shadow symbolizes what is repressed in the
man, while the man represents civility. If the man truly wishes to set foot in the
House of Poetry, the symbol for creativity, he must first acknowledge his shadow
as part of himself. Like the man, a child must develop their shadow if they ever
wish to reach their full potential. Ursula LeGuin s The Child and the Shadow puts
forth a thorough argument for the use of fantasy to develop a child s shadow and to
truly understand their inner beings in a way that does not damage their young and
undeveloped psyche. The use of fantasy to develop a child s shadow is at the center
of her argument. Fantasy is the medium best suited to a description of that [exploring

Gang Leader for a Day Essay

sociology student from the University of Chicago starts out simply trying to
understand how it feels to be poor and black, and ends up spending years and years
figuring out the ins and outs of a gang society (Venkatesh 14). Sudhir receives the
chance of a sociologist s lifetime to see first hand what life is like in the projects.
He follows gang leader, J.T. around and studies his life at the Robert Taylor homes
for years. Throughout Venkatesh s experience he witnesses many things some people
go a lifetime without seeing. For example, he was no stranger to seeing people use
drugs or get beat up by gang members. One interesting aspect of Venkatesh s

He makes his money in various ways. Besides selling drugs through his gang, he
also runs three buildings. He would allow people who were known as squatters to
stay in the building when it was cold out. They were allowed to hang out in the
stairwells and the gang provided them protection for a little bit of money. The
gang was always finding ways like this to collect money. They would allow
prostitutes to come and live there and some of them would do business there but
they also had a fee to pay. Anyone who J.T. allowed to stay in his buildings without
a lease would get taxed on their earnings for whatever type of business they were
doing. But in return the Black Kings would provide them with protection.
Venkatesh learned a lot about the gang s hierarchy and J.T. s business plans. Early
in their relationship, J.T. explained the structure to making money in the drug
game to Sudhir while he planned his move to running the Robert Taylor homes. He
calls the Robert Taylor homes easy money because of how convenient the location
was for white people to drive over. He also says he would go from making thirty
thousand dollars a year to seventy five thousand dollars or maybe even a hundred
thousand a year (towards the end of the book J.T. is making somewhere around two
hundred thousand dollars a year). This is where J.T. begins to explain the ladder of
moving up in the gang and how he wants to move up. Throughout the book Venkatesh
Lonnie Bunch And Skorton s Athlete As Agent Of Change
Protesting is one of the most elevated forms of patriotism and for some time,
athletes have been using their fame to protest and promote a political agenda. This is
mostly due to the high population that follows them and listens to athletes. In the
opinion article, Athlete as Agent of Change , written by Lonnie Bunch and David
Skorton, it describes how athletes are basically representatives and the voice of the
people. It is because of their fame and accomplishments that people look up to them
for inspiration. It is because of this that athletes should use their fame to promote a
political agenda. Sport has been used to show the worthiness of an estranged group
and nudge the nation to live up to its stated ideals. An example to the protests
Irony In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper
Charlotte Perkins Gillman s utilization of irony throughout The Yellow Wallpaper
highlights various imbedded themes. On the sentence level, Gillman uses verbal
irony to highlight the narrator s internal struggle with the treatment she receives from
her husband. Similarly, the treatment that the narrator receives from her husband,
John, unintentionally worsens the narrator s condition. These actions exemplify
Gillman s use of situational irony in order to draw attention to the lack of
consideration towards women s mental health at the time. Gillman also uses dramatic
irony at various points throughout the short story to highlight the narrator s growing
distance from reality. Through her utilization of various forms of irony, Gillman
reveals themes at the core of the text.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the narrator s tone is not necessarily sarcastic, she does write various short
comments in her journal that highlight marital and societal issues. The narrator
speaks in this tone from the very beginning of the story, highlighting her continuous
suspicion regarding her treatment. On the first page of her journal, the author writes,
John laughs at me, of course, but one expects that in marriage (Gillman 647).
Gillman adds small details like this throughout the story in order to reflect the
character s demeanor while also reflecting the inner workings of her mind to the
reader. The reader, an oppressed housewife who is rarely taken seriously, would be
very unlikely to blatantly comment on or complain about John s course of treatment.
However, these short bursts of irony allow the reader to understand the narrator s
psyche on a deeper level. When the narrator makes these comments she takes a stand
against the disrespect she experiences without explicitly stating her
Essay on Contrast Between Catholic and Baptist Religion
Ask most people today if they have heard of Baptist and Catholic religion and most
would say yes. In many ways the two are very similar. For instance, both are based
on the Christian faith, belief in the trinity, and that God is the one true God. The
two religions agree that Jesus died on the cross and rose again to atone for our sins.
They share a 27 book New Testament and insist that salvation comes from Christ
alone. On the other hand, while the Baptist and Catholic religions do have
similarities, they also have differences, such as their services, communion, and views
regarding salvation. The first difference between the two religions is their services.

Baptists offer prayer to God through Christ during the service and reject the
practice of praying to Mary and the saints. The services are not nearly as laid out
and ordered, with much less participation by the church members during the
service. . The second difference evident between the religions is the partaking of
Communion. In the Catholic Church, Communion is a very sacred act, and the
members are encouraged to receive it frequently. Communion is offered at each
service and is always presided over by the priest. The members believe that they are
consuming the actual body and blood of Christ during Communion, and are required
to fast at least one hour prior to receiving it out of respect. Communion is believed to
be the most important of the seven sacraments by the church and required to obtain
salvation. On the other hand, Baptists rarely partake of Communion, and is usually
reserved for special occasions like Easter and Christmas. Some Baptist churches may
partake every few months or quarterly. Although, the pastor of the church normally
presides over Communion, any member designated by the church can do so. Baptist
religion does not support the rule of fasting prior to Communion, and believe it to be
a symbolic reverence to Christ. It is not believed that the actual body and blood of
Christ are consumed during Communion. The

The Novel 1

Theme of Lord of The Flies and The Guide Lord of the flies (1954) and The guide
(1958) are the two novels written by famous novelists William Golding and R.K.
Narayan. Lord of the Flies portrays the story of a group of British boys trapped on an
abandoned island who try to administrate themselves with catastrophic results and On
the other side, R.K. Narayan quite consciously in his novel The Guide resonances the
tradition of the Indian society amidst his literal representation. R.K. Narayan s
chief apprehension is to give an artistic countenance of Indian life. If we look at
the the story of the two novels, the story is entirely dissimilar to each other which
then leads to different to contain different themes. In the lord of the flies Golding
takes a group of British little boys who are stuck on an inhabitable island. On the
other hand, The Guide is the story of a man named Raju who is from a small village
in India called Malgudi and the whole story has developed and integrated with the
character of Raju.
First we will discuss briefly about the term theme . Theme is well defined as a main
idea or an underlying meaning of a literary work that may be indicated directly or
indirectly. it derives from ancient Greek word thema (through Latin and French) The
theme of any literary work is the foundation that actions as a base for the
Age And The Importance Of Voting In The United States
Although all Americans have the right over the age of 18, not all citizens vote
because of four common, yet relevant reasons. One s educational level, age, level of
income, and prestige of occupation determine if they will vote or not. First and for
most, the education one has is the single most important factor in predicting whether
they vote. Although mostly, all American citizens know they have the right to vote,
they do not know how to get registered or where to vote. That does seem like a poor
excuse, considering we live in a technologybased society and pretty much anything
can be looked up online. Despite the fact that some citizens truly do not understand
the importance of voting, some choose to not understand it. Secondly, age
King James Bible Impact On Society
King James Bible s Influence on Society While researching articles and websites
about the Bible s influence on the world, I found several quotes and studies of what
people thought about the Bible and how it changed the world we live in today. The
Bible was written in the 6th century, but it wasn t released until 1611 because people
would think it would be offensive to their own religion. The Biblecan teach you about
anything in life, people don t understand how powerful the Bible is and how much
it helps you through life and help pass your goals all you have to do is read and
study it. The Bible was made to show people how to live a good life and how to be
accepted in heaven by doing what it tells you and just believing in it. The King
James Bible changed society in a good way because the people didn t have to rely
on the priest, they could read it for themselves, and also have their own opinion.
Before the Bible was released the people had to rely on the Priest and believe what
he said about the Bible and had to follow his beliefs. The Article states, With
politicians, social leaders and even some clergy invoking a book they seem to have
never read and whose phrases they do not understand, America is being besieged by
Biblical literacy. When the priest only knew about the bible he could easily mix
things up and he could be telling them false information and they would not even
know. Therefore the people could be following the Priest there entire life and not be

The Icy Metal Gates
Twenty four hours. As I lay in this bed, surrounded by beeping machines against
white walls, my mind is clouded with that foreboding number and its awful
implications. Out loud, it sounds longer than it really is just a single day. And,
though I wish it was longer, I m just not blessed with fortune. Never was, honestly.
My youth was littered with misfortune: death, the entailing grief, and the drawing of
the shortest straws. Mother had passed by the time I was nine; and Father followed
within a year, thus leaving me in the care of a this secluded Catholic orphanage. In
the confines of the icy metal gates, I familiarized myself with literature, which soon
became my only escape from my imprisonment. While most of the children were...

Thinking of it causes me to wonder if I look equally disgusting. Twenty four hours.
I m certain more than two of the twenty four have already left; I can t tell any
longer. For the days in this place are nonexistent and are instead replaced by an
artificial sun centered upon the ceiling, every crack never touching its border but
only tracing around it. Cool air from the AC is still filling the room and removing
the warmth that emits from the squadron of machines that litter this sterile room.
But, in this abhorrent condition, I m not at all comfortable: I can feel my body
perspiring, the sweat building up on the arch of my back, and every so often the
room will become distorted as if I was watching the infinite shades and hues of the
world blend together whilst falling towards something similar to eternity. I
remember falling once as I child. Fortunately, Mother caught me in her arms
before I could collide with the coffee table, leaving only my pride injured. Once I
was calmed, I saw her pick up something like a notebook and pens off the ground.
An eye s blink later, it just now has dawned on me that she had dropped everything
she had to prevent possibly injury to me literally and metaphorically. Her name
slips me as most things do now and her face is but a shaded blur, but I can recall her
honeyed words without effort. You re Mommy s little writer, aren t you? she would
say when I brought her
The Failure Of The Hippie Movement
The hippie movement is prevalent peace group that has been in action since the
1960 s. Comprised mostly of middle class youth, the cultural following promotes
peace, anti war, and free living styles(Britannica). The movement developed in the
wake of the Vietnam war, thus giving purpose to the anti war principles and peace
preachings. Although the culture of the hippie movement has widely been viewed
as teens who are just looking for an excuse against civic and daily responsibilities,
they did have some success. Protest were often peaceful, but were still successful in
conveying the views and motives of the party. With a strong disapproval to war, the
movement took to burning Draft Cards, the cards by which young men were
randomly selected
Summary Of The Playlist
The playlist had about a dozen videos, and there were two themes. The first was
gorgeous women with shaved pussies having them lovingly licked by some hot guy.
In fact, this was very similar to the cock adoration part of the blowjob playlist, only
with the woman being the lucky recipient. I wrote down shave pussy/offer to Corey s
tongue.
The next part of this playlist was the most aggressive in the entire collection, and it
surprised me. It was a few videos of a woman kneeling above a man s head while
grinding her pussy on his tongue and face. My hubby loved face sitting! I had to
smile. This, too, I could totally do. In every video, the woman grabbed the guy by the
hair and pulled his mouth against her pussy. I will totally do that.

This was a position that we both loved, and that would always be special for us. I
didn t need to make it any more special than it was. That said, I was really horny for
Corey right then. All those beautiful bodies fucking and licking and sucking. I had
already had two orgasms. I logged out, went to the shower, and decided to have one
more.
I looked at my list. I smiled at the line I wanted to do first: Cock adoration. My
research and put me three orgasms ahead. I would cross that item off my list and let
Corey catch up. The second day of Christmas was turning out to be a lot of fun.
Corey was in the shower, and I couldn t stop myself from laughing. I kept thinking
over the stupid name I gave the night cock adoration. It sounded so porny. But, at
the same time, it was kind of perfect. I was dressing up in my little black dress. I
had make up on, and I had done my hair. Why? All so I could look glamorous as I
did nothing more than focus all my attention on my husband s cock.
To kind of pull myself back to the task at hand, I opened up the pornfolio site on my
phone and watched one of the blowjob videos. One of the things I loved was how
the woman would use her mouth without her hands at times. The guy s cock would
twitch up as she kissed or licked it. I loved that.
I heard the shower turn off. I closed the browser on my phone, and with a wicked
smile on my face, I pushed the door to the bathroom open without knocking.

College Diversity Essay. What is diversity essay. How to Write a Diversity Essay. 2022-10-24

  • 1. College Diversity Essay Writing an essay on the topic of college diversity can be a challenging yet rewarding task. On one hand, the subject matter is broad and multifaceted, encompassing various aspects of diversity, such as cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. This complexity requires careful research and thoughtful analysis to ensure a comprehensive and well-rounded exploration of the theme. The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between personal experiences and broader societal perspectives. It is crucial to convey a genuine and authentic portrayal of one's own encounters with diversity while also recognizing the broader implications and importance of diversity within the college environment. Navigating this balance can be intricate, as the essay should neither come across as overly self-centered nor overly detached. Additionally, addressing the significance of diversity without falling into clichГ©s or generic statements is a challenge. Admission committees read numerous essays on similar topics, and standing out requires a unique perspective and a compelling narrative. It's essential to avoid common pitfalls and demonstrate a deep understanding of diversity beyond surface-level observations. Furthermore, there is the challenge of fostering a connection with the reader. Crafting a narrative that resonates with the audience and effectively communicates the impact of diversity on personal growth and the college community requires skillful storytelling. In conclusion, writing a college diversity essay demands a delicate balance between personal reflection and broader societal awareness. It necessitates the ability to convey unique experiences while acknowledging the larger context of diversity. Successfully navigating these complexities requires careful thought, thorough research, and effective communication skills to create an essay that not only meets the expectations of the admission committee but also stands out among the multitude of similar submissions. If you find yourself struggling with such essays or need assistance in developing compelling narratives, various resources are available to provide guidance and support. Professional writing services like HelpWriting.net offer expertise in crafting essays on diverse topics, providing valuable assistance in shaping your ideas into a well-structured and impactful piece of writing. • 2. Analysis Of House Of Scorpions By Nancy Farmer In the story House of Scorpions, written by Nancy Farmer, the main character is Matteo Alacran. The main setting is in the future in a new territory between Mexico and the United States calle Opium. In the beginning of the story, it starts of in a lab with a bunch of cells. Eventually they all die, leaving one, who is believed to now be Matt. The main problem of the book is that Matt is a clone, and that clones are considered filthy, retched creatures. The solution is that El Patron dies and now Matt takes his place and is considered a real human. At the end of the story, Matt is the new Lord of Opium. Celia is a very caring character in the story. There are three examples of this. First, she cared for Matt by letting him live in her house. Secondly, she helped him escape from Rosa. She went to El Patron and had Rosa turned into an eejit. Finally, she stood up for Matt so he wouldn t have to die for El Patron. She risked her own life for Matt. She even played it off that she was an eejit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It would be horrible to be just locked in your mind. You could never

The downfall of Enron also illustrates both the importance of corporate governance to corporate performance, and the inherent susceptibility to corruption present in any system of corporate governance. Further, from an international perspective, one is tempted to ask whether the Enron debacle could happen in Europe or Japan or whether it demonstrates a vulnerability unique to the U.S. system of corporate governance. I have three observations to make on this issue. First and foremost, the Enron fiasco demonstrates the acute pressure felt by U.S. corporate management to produce superior performance results. As discussed later in this Article, Enron s financial maneuvering, which led to the company s massive 2001 restatement of earnings, was prompted only in 1997 when Enron came under significant pressure from investors. Essentially, Enron s corporate performance was consistent for a considerable period of time prior to 1997. 4 However, between 1996 and 1997, the firm s profits and return on equity each declined by ninety percent. 5 The sudden deterioration in performance pressured management to engage in transactions that increased revenue and moved debt off of the firm s 3 This monitoring tradeoff is developed in more detail in my Article coauthored with Arnoud Boot, also presented in this Symposium. • 4. The Contributions Of Freud And The Case Of Sigmund Freud Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, is predominantly recognized as one of the most influential and authoritative thinkers of the twentieth century. Freud gave a broad perspective on things involving dreams, religion, and cultural artifacts while still focusing on different states of the mind, such as unconsciousness. Freud also relied on a local sexual repression issue to create theories about human behavior. His theories and ideas of psychoanalysis still have a strong impact on psychology and early childhood education today. Freud s most important claim is that with psychoanalysis he had invented a new science of the mind, however, remains the subject of copious critical debate and controversy. Sigmund Freud was born... The aim of psychoanalysis therapy is to release repressed emotions and experiences. For example, making the unconscious conscious. Freud had a massive impact on the way people viewed mental illnesses during the First World War. During this time, many psychoanalysts were drafted into war efforts, as physicians or as psychiatrists, due to the rise in war neuroses. Many psychiatrists at the time believed that when soldiers showed symptoms of constant nervousness, nightmares, and traumatic memories of war experiences, they were merely cowards trying to escape combat. During the First World War, this perception started to change and people began to think that these symptoms were signs of real psychiatric problems. Shortly after, Freud created a model of the mind called the Psychic
  • 5. Estragon In Waiting For Godot The relationship between Vladimir and Estragon in Waiting for Godot. Why do they stay together, despite frequent suggestions that they part? The dramatist and poet Samuel Beckett, born in 1906 in Ireland, can definitely be addressed as one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century. Samuel Beckett has been attributed the label of the last modernist as well as the first post modernist. His plays are filled with dark humour and absurdities, Beckett s play Waiting for Godot1, which he composed between 1948 1949, is a good example of his minimalistic style and stage setting. Godot is one of Beckett s most controversial plays and well known in the international literary world. The play received much criticism in conjunction with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The games are a welcome distraction from the uncertainty of waiting, Vladimir and Estragon both feel relieved when they find a game to play. Didi and Gogo seem relatively happy and content playing their games to occupy them during the long wait. Svalkvist argued in her essay; Vladimir and Estragon create a foundation of values, a self, by choosing their actions and beliefs, i.e. choosing to continue to wait for Godot and to play games with each other. (14). By playing their games they simultaneously create meaning and make choices. The men frequently find themselves in situations in which they must make a choice; the most compelling choice being to stay put and continue to wait for Godot. The distracting games create meaning, in a way a meaning for both of their existence, however their games are also being used by Vladimir and Estragon to escape the reality of the situation; to escape this anguish. (Svalkvist 15). The highly ironic relationship Vladimir and Estragon have with each other is present throughout the whole play Godot. Karic stated that the concept of irony is present in their mutual behaviour and their contacts with the outside world. (239). The protagonists cruelty also plays a significant role in the
  • 6. Childhood Development And Child Development Essay My topic is Early Childhood Development and this is the finding to know if attending pre school or head start would help the child s development and have the child more prepared for kindergarten. This topic is based on the social learning theory and how each family teaches their child differently. I have chosen to do my topic on Early Childhood Development because of my practicum being a developmental center (Inspire), also because I have a passion in working with families and children. This appeals to me because I know that if the families enroll their child in the pre school program, the child will benefit from it and will be more prepared for kindergarten. Usually agencies like this prefer low income parents and if you meet the requirements, there is a good possibility that the child will attend. I have met families that would like their child to attend because they know that it is a better outcome for them, but in their household, they have a high income. Some research says that the children that attended early head start programs were more development ready for kindergarten. Inspire has a Region Head Start (RHS) which is for 3 5 year old children and this program helps the children socialize with others, solve problems and have other experiences, which will help them become more self confident (Inspire, 2016). The theory I will focus on is the Social Learning Theory. Albert Banduratheory explains that people learn from one another, either from modeling, imitation

The Origin of Species In 1859, a time when literal interpretation of the Bible was common practice, a book that could potentially debase society s understanding of what was fact was published and it summarized a theory that humans have slowly evolved from a primitive form, commonly called the Theory of Evolution.(Kennedy Pg.572) The book titled On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life was written by an English naturalist and geologist, Charles Darwin, and it overcame the scientific rejection that earlier similar theories had faced. (Newman, Letter) Another event that led to Darwin s controversial writing were the discoveries he made from his documentation on his long voyage on the HMS Beagle where he did all of his research and discoveries written about in his book. One of his first discoveries that linked evolution to living creatures left him with more of an inquiry than an answer or discovery. He noted the geographical distribution of the modern species of a fossil he found while ashore resembling a huge armadillo in hopes of finding their centre of creation. ( ) He extensively edited his research and added his findings until the original book was completed and finally published on Thursday, November 24th, 1859 and all copies being sold were immediately bought up by booksellers. During Darwin s lifetime he published 6 different editions of the book and the one that really shook society what the final writing published February 19th, 1872, the 6th edition titled the Origin of Species (this is when the title was shortened from its original length) in which was the only time he used the word evolution ; though, however, every edition concluded with the word evolved . The most notable change to this newly published edition of Darwin s book was a chapter 7 titled Miscellaneous objections that addressed any objections that were sure to come from opposition of his Theory of Evolution. The immediate significance of Darwin s book were tremendous mostly due to hostile reactions to, what seemed to

Some of the most successful methods used by teachers, even the federal government, to learn about culture are by letting each student share their culture through food and explain the history behind their dish. • 10. Statute Of Limitations In Criminal Law Across the United States, many criminal courts have created a rule known as statute of limitations. Statute of limitations sets forth a time limit to raising a legal issue in order to not only maintain the integrity of evidence gathered for the trial, but to also protect people from being harassed about a crimethat was never tried a long time ago. In order to begin a criminal case within statute of limitations, a prosecutor must bring forth formal charges against a defendant within a specific amount of time after a crime is first discovered by law enforcement. The amount of time that a prosecutor can file criminal charges against a defendant depends on the crime s classification under the federal or state criminal code. Because of the different classifications of crimes in criminal codes, there are several forms of time limitations that prosecutors should know before deciding to file criminal charges against a defendant. The first type of offense is known as an infraction. In the criminal code, infractions are crimes that carry a punishment of paying a fine ( Felonies, Misdemeanors and Infractions: The Differences , n.d.). Once law enforcement discovers this type of offense, the prosecutor is given exactly six months to file charges against the defendant ( Time Limits for Charges: State Criminal Statutes of Limitations , n.d.). Some examples of infractions can include citations for parking violations, running a red light, and speeding. The next type of offense is known as

They then sent to the stand surprise witnesses that the defense was not informed of. The defense intended to cross examine the witnesses but the prosecutions said that they were out of town and would be unable to return. Not surprisingly the jury returned a verdict of guilty; now the prosecution would turn its attention to Mr. Adams sentence (Martin, 2011). Seeking the death penalty the prosecution called on two expert witnesses: psychiatrist Dr. James Grigson, whom was known as Dr. Death, and Dr. John Holbrook, who was the former chief of psychiatry for the Texas Department of Corrections (Radelet, 2011). The American Psychiatric Association has stated on multiple occasions that it is impossible to predict future criminal acts of offenders (Radelet, 2011). The theory presents a three phase timeline to explain the reproductive history of all nations. The second phase is the transition where slowing mortality rates and high birth rates produce raid population growth. A greater understanding of these theories divergent nature occurs when viewing reproductive systems under both lenses. One reproductive behavior that appears radically different when compared under both theories is the system of Birth Spacing in the Congo. Nacy Rose Hunt presents this practice in her article, Le Bebe en Brousse : European women, African Birth Spacing and Colonial Intervention in Breast Feeding in the Belgian Congo. Birth spacing was a cultural practice where women abstained from sexual intercourse for two or three years while they were breast feeding (Hunt 1988: 404). This practice aided maternal and infant health and was widely practiced before colonial domination (Hunt 1988: 401). However, the practice lessened under colonial occupation and created an increase in population growth. While we recognize the challenge of attempting to present up to date information given the rapid pace of change in computers and the long time lines for publishing books, we hope that the chapters in this book taken together, can be valuable where they suggest emerging trends and future directions that impact the role computers are likely to serve in fisheries research. 1 Past, Present and Future Trends in the Use of Computers 3 1.2 Hardware Advances It is difficult not to marvel at how quickly

If you are feeling lucky Vegas might be the option for you. Vegas is a place for risk takers and gamblers and for people trying to achieve something. In Hunter S. Drugs and alcohol were prominent in the main characters journey and the substances were used to show Duke and Gonzo escape from life, their path to find the American Dream and to bring out the truth of the drug culture in America. Drugs and alcohol can be used as a depressant or as a stimuli but one thing is certain is that they help forget who you are and what you are doing in life. They keep you away from thinking. The 1950 s were a time of increasing social change and development culminating in movements such as the civil rights and sexual revolution movements of the 60 s. The novel ties sexual liberation to personal freedoms and shows that being able to manage one s behavior and choices is a sign of independence. In One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest Ken Kesey persuades us to share the same worldview through use of language and perspective, showing us the importance of freedom and the impact of society on what freedoms we allow ourselves to have. • 37. The Child And The Shadow Summary In the essay The Child and the Shadow, author Ursula LeGuin utilizes techniques of Jungian psychology to connect the shadow of a young child to fantasy, and how this specific genre could be used to further develop this part of humanity. The speech begins with LeGuin summarizing a Hans Christian Andersen story about a man and his shadow. The man, desiring to enter the House of Poetry, tells his shadow to go on without him. His shadow departs from him, and both go their separate ways. Soon after, however, the shadow returns and controls the man, eventually having him killed. The purpose for the presence of this story is to tie literature and psychology together, employing the Carl Jungs school of thought to describe the shadow and the man. According to LeGuin, the shadow symbolizes what is repressed in the man, while the man represents civility. If the man truly wishes to set foot in the House of Poetry, the symbol for creativity, he must first acknowledge his shadow as part of himself. Like the man, a child must develop their shadow if they ever wish to reach their full potential. Ursula LeGuin s The Child and the Shadow puts forth a thorough argument for the use of fantasy to develop a child s shadow and to truly understand their inner beings in a way that does not damage their young and undeveloped psyche. The use of fantasy to develop a child s shadow is at the center of her argument. Fantasy is the medium best suited to a description of that [exploring the

  • 40. Irony In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper Charlotte Perkins Gillman s utilization of irony throughout The Yellow Wallpaper highlights various imbedded themes. On the sentence level, Gillman uses verbal irony to highlight the narrator s internal struggle with the treatment she receives from her husband. Similarly, the treatment that the narrator receives from her husband, John, unintentionally worsens the narrator s condition. These actions exemplify Gillman s use of situational irony in order to draw attention to the lack of consideration towards women s mental health at the time. Gillman also uses dramatic irony at various points throughout the short story to highlight the narrator s growing distance from reality. Through her utilization of various forms of irony, Gillman reveals themes at the core of the text.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the narrator s tone is not necessarily sarcastic, she does write various short comments in her journal that highlight marital and societal issues. The narrator speaks in this tone from the very beginning of the story, highlighting her continuous suspicion regarding her treatment. On the first page of her journal, the author writes, John laughs at me, of course, but one expects that in marriage (Gillman 647). Gillman adds small details like this throughout the story in order to reflect the character s demeanor while also reflecting the inner workings of her mind to the reader. The reader, an oppressed housewife who is rarely taken seriously, would be very unlikely to blatantly comment on or complain about John s course of treatment. However, these short bursts of irony allow the reader to understand the narrator s psyche on a deeper level. When the narrator makes these comments she takes a stand against the disrespect she experiences without explicitly stating her
  • 41. Essay on Contrast Between Catholic and Baptist Religion Ask most people today if they have heard of Baptist and Catholic religion and most would say yes. In many ways the two are very similar. For instance, both are based on the Christian faith, belief in the trinity, and that God is the one true God. The two religions agree that Jesus died on the cross and rose again to atone for our sins. They share a 27 book New Testament and insist that salvation comes from Christ alone. On the other hand, while the Baptist and Catholic religions do have similarities, they also have differences, such as their services, communion, and views regarding salvation. The first difference between the two religions is their services. Roman Catholic services are held in sanctuaries that are richly decorated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baptists offer prayer to God through Christ during the service and reject the practice of praying to Mary and the saints. The services are not nearly as laid out and ordered, with much less participation by the church members during the service. . The second difference evident between the religions is the partaking of Communion. In the Catholic Church, Communion is a very sacred act, and the members are encouraged to receive it frequently. Communion is offered at each service and is always presided over by the priest. The members believe that they are consuming the actual body and blood of Christ during Communion, and are required to fast at least one hour prior to receiving it out of respect. Communion is believed to be the most important of the seven sacraments by the church and required to obtain salvation. On the other hand, Baptists rarely partake of Communion, and is usually reserved for special occasions like Easter and Christmas. Some Baptist churches may partake every few months or quarterly. Although, the pastor of the church normally presides over Communion, any member designated by the church can do so. Baptist religion does not support the rule of fasting prior to Communion, and believe it to be a symbolic reverence to Christ. It is not believed that the actual body and blood of Christ are consumed during Communion. The

  • 43. Age And The Importance Of Voting In The United States Although all Americans have the right over the age of 18, not all citizens vote because of four common, yet relevant reasons. One s educational level, age, level of income, and prestige of occupation determine if they will vote or not. First and for most, the education one has is the single most important factor in predicting whether they vote. Although mostly, all American citizens know they have the right to vote, they do not know how to get registered or where to vote. That does seem like a poor excuse, considering we live in a technologybased society and pretty much anything can be looked up online. Despite the fact that some citizens truly do not understand the importance of voting, some choose to not understand it. Secondly, age
  • 44. King James Bible Impact On Society King James Bible s Influence on Society While researching articles and websites about the Bible s influence on the world, I found several quotes and studies of what people thought about the Bible and how it changed the world we live in today. The Bible was written in the 6th century, but it wasn t released until 1611 because people would think it would be offensive to their own religion. The Biblecan teach you about anything in life, people don t understand how powerful the Bible is and how much it helps you through life and help pass your goals all you have to do is read and study it. The Bible was made to show people how to live a good life and how to be accepted in heaven by doing what it tells you and just believing in it. The King James Bible changed society in a good way because the people didn t have to rely on the priest, they could read it for themselves, and also have their own opinion. Before the Bible was released the people had to rely on the Priest and believe what he said about the Bible and had to follow his beliefs. The Article states, With politicians, social leaders and even some clergy invoking a book they seem to have never read and whose phrases they do not understand, America is being besieged by Biblical literacy. When the priest only knew about the bible he could easily mix things up and he could be telling them false information and they would not even know. Therefore the people could be following the Priest there entire life and not be able to
  • 45. The Icy Metal Gates Twenty four hours. As I lay in this bed, surrounded by beeping machines against white walls, my mind is clouded with that foreboding number and its awful implications. Out loud, it sounds longer than it really is just a single day. And, though I wish it was longer, I m just not blessed with fortune. Never was, honestly. My youth was littered with misfortune: death, the entailing grief, and the drawing of the shortest straws. Mother had passed by the time I was nine; and Father followed within a year, thus leaving me in the care of a this secluded Catholic orphanage. In the confines of the icy metal gates, I familiarized myself with literature, which soon became my only escape from my imprisonment. While most of the children were... I m certain more than two of the twenty four have already left; I can t tell any longer. Cool air from the AC is still filling the room and removing the warmth that emits from the squadron of machines that litter this sterile room. But, in this abhorrent condition, I m not at all comfortable: I can feel my body perspiring, the sweat building up on the arch of my back, and every so often the room will become distorted as if I was watching the infinite shades and hues of the world blend together whilst falling towards something similar to eternity. I remember falling once as I child. Fortunately, Mother caught me in her arms before I could collide with the coffee table, leaving only my pride injured. Once I was calmed, I saw her pick up something like a notebook and pens off the ground. An eye s blink later, it just now has dawned on me that she had dropped everything she had to prevent possibly injury to me literally and metaphorically. Her name slips me as most things do now and her face is but a shaded blur, but I can recall her honeyed words without effort. • 47. Summary Of The Playlist The playlist had about a dozen videos, and there were two themes. The first was gorgeous women with shaved pussies having them lovingly licked by some hot guy. In fact, this was very similar to the cock adoration part of the blowjob playlist, only with the woman being the lucky recipient. I wrote down shave pussy/offer to Corey s tongue. The next part of this playlist was the most aggressive in the entire collection, and it surprised me. It was a few videos of a woman kneeling above a man s head while grinding her pussy on his tongue and face. My hubby loved face sitting! I had to smile. This, too, I could totally do. In every video, the woman grabbed the guy by the hair and pulled his mouth against her pussy. I will totally do that. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was a position that we both loved, and that would always be special for us. I didn t need to make it any more special than it was. That said, I was really horny for Corey right then. All those beautiful bodies fucking and licking and sucking. I had already had two orgasms. I logged out, went to the shower, and decided to have one more. I looked at my list. I smiled at the line I wanted to do first: Cock adoration. My research and put me three orgasms ahead. I would cross that item off my list and let Corey catch up. The second day of Christmas was turning out to be a lot of fun. Corey was in the shower, and I couldn t stop myself from laughing. I kept thinking over the stupid name I gave the night cock adoration. It sounded so porny. But, at the same time, it was kind of perfect. I was dressing up in my little black dress. I had make up on, and I had done my hair. Why? All so I could look glamorous as I did nothing more than focus all my attention on my husband s cock. To kind of pull myself back to the task at hand, I opened up the pornfolio site on my phone and watched one of the blowjob videos. One of the things I loved was how the woman would use her mouth without her hands at times. The guy s cock would twitch up as she kissed or licked it. I loved that. I heard the shower turn off. I closed the browser on my phone, and with a wicked smile on my face, I pushed the door to the bathroom open without knocking.
