The Phases Of Conflict By Ceasefire And Post Agreement Essay
In times of conflict, it is important to note the four phases of conflict. These four phases being,
pre violence or the buildup period. Second, is armed conflict. Third is a ceasefire and lastly,
comes the post agreement. The first two phases of conflict are not hard at all to achieve or attain.
Certain nations around the world are almost always engaged in some form of conflictwith other
ethnic groups or secessionist/ revolutionary forces. For a certain subset of nations, civil warappears
to be a chronic condition. (Quinn, et.al. 2007) The last phases of conflict, ceasefire and post
agreement are certainly much harder to attain and sustain than the first two phases. For this
short essay, I have chosen the post agreement phase as being the most difficult to attain and
uphold. I will discuss the reasons I believe this phase is the hardest to achieve, why or if it s even
important and also briefly compare it to the preceding phases of conflict. The main reason I chose
the post agreement phase as being the most difficult phase to achieve, is primarily because
conflicting sides have to fight through the first three stages to get to the final stage. At this point,
any trust each side had for each other is shattered and people will almost certainly be highly
angered at the opposing sides for events that occur during conflict. Not only that, but often times,
conflicting parties never even reach this point. Some conflicts only end in a ceasefire and never
reach a full peace

Artemis In Greek Religion
Artemis is the goddess of hunting, the moon and the protector of children, wild animals,
vegetation and childbirth. In roman mythology she is also known as Diana. Artemis has
absolute power over nature and is said to bring fertility to all the places that worshipp her.
Artemis is usually seen armed with her bow and poisonous arrows and wearing a knee high
chiton (tunic) except for when she takes the form of an animal. She is always seen with a deer at
her side. Like her brother she also has the power of healing. Artemissymbols are the Bow and the
Pike, her symbolic tree is the Cedar and her sacred animals are the snake, the bear and the deer.
There is a festival held every 5 years in honour of Artemis in Brauron of Attica, the Sanctuary of
Artemis is also located in Brauron and the Temple of Artemis is in Ephesus which is one of the
seven wonders of the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is the twin sister of Apollo the God of the sun, music, the light and the prophecy and is
probably the half sister of a lot of other deities considering how many affairs Zeus had. Artemis
was born before Apollo and she helped her mother who was having a hard birth because she was
cursed by Hera, give birth to him on Mount Cynthus at the island of Delos in Greece, after seeing
her mother s pain as a young child Artemis asked from her father Zeus to be an eternal virgin and
from then on became one of the three virgin goddesses along with Hestia and Athena. She and her
brother were fiercely loyal to their mother Leto, so when the mortal queen Niobe boasted that she
was better than Leto because she had 7 sons and 7 daughters whereas Leto only had Apollo and
Artemis, their mother ordered them to kill all of her 14 children and they

The Last Judgement Essay
The Middle Ages, often referred to as the Dark Ages, the era of darkness and despair, occurred
after the fall of Rome. During the Dark Ages, their priorities were different from the Romans;
education, architecture, and art were no longer valued. Instead, their main focus was survival, and
caused people to turn to God as a source of hope resulting in Rome s glory being forgotten.
Although, at the end of the Dark Ages, a man, named Petrarch, wanted to bring back Rome and
Greece s glory, and believed in the value and potential humans possessed promoting humanism.
Thus, soon came the Renaissancethe rebirth of classic ideas and culture. Michelangelo, recognized
as one of the greatest artists of all time, is often credited for the Sistine ChapelCeiling, and until you
have seen the Sistine Chapel, you can have no adequate conception of what man is capable of
accomplishing (Goethe). However, within the chapel, lies a more extravagant masterpiece the Last
Judgement. The Last Judgement is a perfect representation of the Renaissance because it embodies
the visual characteristics of Renaissance art, dramatic movement and emotion, and was able to

There are always problems with this approach, but the profit of doing so is significant.
3. Poor or No Requirements poor requirements are probably one of the most difficult issue that
can be faced by a project. The incapacity to identify good requirements has also led to other
project delivery problems such as the desire to narrow the scope of the project so as to minimize
the requirements workload and risk. Users should understand what it is they want, and be able to
identify it specifically. if you don t get the business requirements right, however well you deliver the
project, the client/business will be dissatisfied.
4. Scope Creep
Scope creep is a risk in most projects. it is the change or growth of project scope. Scope creep
more frequently occurs during the later stages of a project, such as programming and testing, than
during the earlier stages, such as design. This can occur when the scope of a project is not
properly defined, documented, or controlled. This is a management issue similar to change control.
Management should be able to figure it all out at the start. A project manager often tries to manage
scope creep. The goal in managing scope creep is to try to minimize the impact of any changes on
the project, such as on the timeline and cost.

Analysis on the Standard of Living in the Industrial Revolution Debate
Before the Industrial Revolution, Great Britain s economy relied heavily on agriculture, which at
that point of time was based a flawed system dating back to the Middle Ages. This system, known
as the open field system, showed agricultural inefficiencies, and was disallowing of innovation.
These inefficiencies eventually led to the privatization of land for agriculture, in an effort to solve
what is now commonly referred to as the tragedy of the commons . Great Britain was now moving
forward, and as the country (and continent) began enclosing their land, Britain began a period of
modernization, with new technologies that would increase productivity in industry to a level never
before seen. This is the period commonly referred to as the Industrial Revolution, and was an era of
unprecedented growth in industry from the middle of the 18th century until around the middle of
the 19th century. In 1760, 53% of the British population worked in agriculture. By 1840, that had
dropped to 29%. The evolution from water and wind power to steam engines, as well as the creation
of many pieces of machinery for the textile industry (such as the Spinning Jenny, which reduced the
production time on yarn) vastly improved British manufacturing of goods, and the reliance on
agriculture continued to drop. The development from an agricultural focus

Symptoms Of Microcephaly Associated With Zika Cases Essay
Abstract
The Zika outbreak of 2015 shined new light on a once underestimated and lesser known tropical
disease. With the immense effect on pregnant mothers, it quickly became an issue of global
concern. This review will address the concern of the specific symptom of microcephaly
associated with Zika cases in pregnant mothers. Additionally the pathology of Zika transmission
as well as possible treatments will be discussed, as they are all important issues to investigate
given the relevance of Zika in global public health. This outbreak was one met with confusion and
a mass of misinformation, so this review seeks to clarify many of the principles that were
misrepresented to the public, and for the research direct ideal focus for future studies.
The Zika Virus: A Review
Zika virus was first discovered in the Zika Forest of Uganda. It originated a virus of primates that
was later found to infect humans. The virus is characterized by its single stranded RNA
structure(Arnaoutakis Padhya, 2016). Due to a lack of attentions, the virus went relatively
unstudied until it started to affect the global community through one of the largest epidemics on
record.
Since the first reported case of Zika virus in the 1950s, the virus has affected millions of people.
There have been 2 documented outbre (Ochler, et. al, 2016)aks of the virus one in France in 2013
and the second in South and Central America in 2015. The most recent outbreak alone contributed
to 1.3 million cases

In the context of a patient seeking answers to medical concerns a patient may fear for example that
pain is due to cancer because a loved one died of cancer. This fear will tend to influence their search
for information and the interpretation of that information from books, the Internet, and even
doctors. Patients will tend to accept any data that confirms their fear and reject or
disproportionately undervalue that which does not support their fear. Confirmation bias is among the
most common type of cognitive bias and a systematic error of inductive reasoning. It likely has
lead to the polarization of political views that is seen in the world today. The effect of
confirmation bias is stronger for emotionally charged issues and for deeply entrenched beliefs.
People tend to interpret ambiguous data as supporting their pre existing belief. This bias also is
evident in belief perseverance (when beliefs persist after the evidence for them is shown to be
false), the irrational primacy effect (a greater reliance on information encountered early in a series)
and illusory correlation (when people falsely perceive an association between two events or
situations). It is simple to tell someone to keep an open mind to avoid confirmation bias but in truth
this is quite difficult to do in practice. A patient may combat this tendency by educating themselves
in proper reasoning and taking care to garner information from a wide spectrum of balanced

This data can be used as a tool to not only focus on descriptive analysis and reporting but also on
predictive analysis to take more steps on delivering better performance and stronger bottom line. BI
refers to the skills, process, technologies and application used to support decision making and by
using this the organization can take appropriate steps towards enhancing the quality of product,
quality of service thus improving their profits and expanding their business.
Setting up a business in retail domain in a city like London would be very profiting as London
witness s large amount of tourists every day and as a result of which the sale of retail increases.
In a city like this irrespective of the competition there is lot of profit from which the company
can benefit, the company will always profit from this as customers are coming to the city on a
regular basis. This domain has extreme competition as a result of which more efforts should be
taken to understand the trend in which this particular business flows. London city is divided in
various zones and also it has lots of supermarkets where the sale of retail good is very high, so if
such areas and such stores are targeted where the sale of retail goods is high then the company can
surely profit in retail sector.

Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter
The bond between a husband and wife can be so strong sometimes and the two stories To My
Dear Loving Husband and Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter show how much each spouse loves
each other. Although, each one talks about the love towards one another they both have different
ways of expressing it. Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter was written during the civil wars time
so it was more based on that, while To My Dear Loving Husbandwas written way back in 1641.
The most obvious difference is the fact that one shows the perspective of a woman while the other
tells a story from a man s perspective. The letter is written by a guy in the army to his wife and kids.
He talks more about how he loves the Country so much that he is willing to die for it. The major
does not really mind the fact that he is about to die and leave his family behind. Instead he tells his
wife and kids to stay strong and that he will always be there for them. In contrast, the poem talks
about how the women values her husband s love and how he is such an idol. She would put her
husband before anything and anyone. Just by reading the poem people are able to tell how much
this women respects and loves her husband.Although they both love their families, one is willing to
give up his life and abandon them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

4 If ever wife was happy in a man, Compare with me, ye women, if you can(Anne Bradstreet).
Basically the author is saying that she thinks her man is the best and no other woman will find a
guy as great as him. On the other hand, the letter is referring to one person, his wife. The letter just
talks about how he wants his wife to learn how to live without him. The poem talks just about a
husband, while the letter includes two kids and a

Milkman s Coming Of Age
maturity is a complex concept, only activated and defined by the experiences that one endures. In
other words, as a child, we begin life as naive individuals but as time progresses our lives are
influenced by our exposure to significant events, the people that we encounter and the consequences
that we learn. Slowly we surpass into higher levels of consciousness that can ultimately represent
the stages of maturation. Society attempts to artificially provoke this coming of ageusing physical
time in order to dictate the level of maturity that should be attained by the individual at different
stages in their lives. Coming of age is an natural process and will only truly occur when the
individual awakens from the unconscious state of candor. The... Show more content on

In Shalimar he encounters a song that, at first glance, seems just a child s game. Immediately
Milkman considers the song a meaningless rhyme (page 264), but later he finds out the true
significance of the song. In fact, this represents the legacy of Solomon, Milkman s great
grandfather. In previous times, Solomon was able to fly and due to this realization Milkman
resolves that he can fly too. From this new awareness, he also derives a sense of pride, resulting
in his rejection of others opinions and societal notions. Once long ago, he had cared what Pilate
and Hagar thought of him... all that was gone. (Page 293) Milkman was self fulfilled and that s
all that concerned him. He successfully rejected society dictating that he cannot fly. Finally, when
he encountered Guitar, who would surely kill him, Milkman decided to, at last, take life on his
own terms. As opposed to being killed, Milkman surrendered to the wind and was able to fly. In
both a literal and figurative sense, he soared. No longer was he the naive individual living his life
based on others terms. Although his name was still Milkman, he had successfully transcended past
the child like mindset that originally ruined him. This is Milkman s true coming of age and his

The Role Of Private Military Contractors ( Pmcs )
Thesis: The role of private military contractors (PMCs) has expanded tremendously since the end of
the Cold War when western governments began the process of trimming their bloated military
forces. As privatization commenced, governments began to rely upon a new kind of contractor that
sold not only hardware but also manpower and expertise. Even as conventional militaryforces
declined, the need for highly capable, professional soldiers remained pressing, especially in
conflict prone areas around the world. PMCs filled these gaps, providing military assistance,
advice, and security services to governments, companies, and NGOs. However, the role of these
companies, and the legal framework surrounding them remains up for debate, and recent cases
of misconduct with deadly consequences only muddy the waters further. The question remains:
do PMCs serve to help or hurt human rights in areas where they are deployed? In this paper, I
will argue that PMCs do have a critical role in the modern battlefield as providers of logistical,
training, and security services, but their use in offensive actions or assistance with so called black
operations should be circumscribed to the point of nonexistence. I will analyze two cases studies
where PMCSs were deployed: Iraq and Sierra Leone to determine the positive and negative
ramifications of their deployment. PMCs have upheld human rights in the vast majority of areas
where they have been deployed, and it has not been shown that they are

Avioral Model Of The MARS Model
MARS model is a predictive behavioural model that aims at analyzing how four major factors drive
the human behaviour and the way that behaviour gets translated into results. In other words, a
combination of these four factors decides or predicts human behaviour and performance. MARS
stands for Motivation, Ability, Role Perceptions and Situational Factors. MARS model takes into
account the fact that both internal as well as external factors play a decisive role in molding one s
behaviours and performance. Motivation, ability and role perceptions are factors that are under
control of an individual and hence can be viewed as internal factors motivation and ability are
either innate, or acquired or learnt, and role perceptions denote the idea and image one has of one s
role and the way he perceives or understands it. On the contrary, situational factors are external...

Employee behaviours are the performance enabling behaviours, i.e. those particular behaviours
that lead an individual to demonstrate a stellar or an average or an inferior performance. As per
MARS model, motivation, abilities, role perceptions and situational factors act together in
synergy to result in a particular type of behaviour and performance. It is crucial to note that
absence of any of these factors will not result in the expected performance despite the influence of
other factors. Say, for example, an employee has enough motivation to perform his job nicely, a
clear understanding of his role expectations and positive or empowering situational factors, but is
deficient in abilities, i.e. competencies needed to perform the job efficiently. In such a situation,
the employee won t be able to deliver the expected level of performance. Similarly, an individual
with adequate motivation, abilities and facilitating situational factors, will fail to be a super
performer if he doesn t have the correct role

The Conventions of the Soap Opera Genre with Reference to at Least Two Programmes
The soap opera genre originated in America in the 1930s as a radio programme. It was targeted at
housewives who tuned in while doing their household chores. Soaps included many domestic issues
to keep the audience interested. The name soaps came from advertising slots between programmes.
As the soaps were aimed at housewives, the adverts mainly consisted of products of a domestic
nature.

Continuity is an important factor whilst examining the conventions of the soap opera genre.
One aspect of continuity is the theme tunes played at the start and the end of the programme. At
the beginning of all soaps there is a main theme tune. In Eastenders the programme begins with
the drum roll. It is loud and easily recognisable. As this is playing, a large birds eye view of
London is shown. It gradually zooms in onto Albert Square as the soap begins. This sets the
scene effectively as the audience instantly know where the soap is set. It also makes it seem more
realistic as it is set in a real location as opposed to the setting being in a studio.
In Coronation Street the theme tune is a violin melody. This also has easily distinguishable shots of
Weatherfield shown as it is played. The theme tune is distinctive and one that the audience will
recognise when they switch on to watch the soap. Theme tunes help to create habits for viewers
who hear them and sit down to watch the soap. They set the scene allowing the viewer to become
more quickly absorbed into the action.
Another aspect of continuity is the reliance upon the cliff hanger scene at the end of an episode. A
cliffhanger is when the audience are left in suspense after an event that is not concluded within the
episode, ensuring they will watch next time. Often soaps finish with a

Where Atoms Come From We Are All Star Stuff
Chapter Four: Where Atoms Come From: We Are All Star Stuff
1.How are elements with atomic numbers greater than iron s atomic number formed? (1 mark)
Elements with atomic numbers greater than iron s atomic number form during the formation of a
supernovae, also known as a mini bang. The process begins when a massive star has depleted its
supply of magnesium and silicon, and only has a bare iron ore remaining. Now, the star no longer
has the energy to maintain its immense mass against the force of gravity, and as a result, the entire
star collapses. This process fuses together electrons and protons in the core, which forms neutrons.
After neutrons build up in the ore, the star recoils in the form of an explosion. During the explosion,
the neutrons attach to iron atoms in the ore, and begin converting back to protons and electrons. As
a result, iron atoms are able to become different elements with greater atomic numbers.
2.Explain how Patterson determined the age of the Earth (4.55 billion years old)? (2 marks)

Music Analysis Of Gustav Holst s The Planets
Bry Neill
Bubnick
ASTY 152
7 April, 2017
Prompt 1: Art
Gustav Holst s suite The Planets consists of a musical piece conducted specially for each
individual planet, not including, however, Earth and Pluto. Each part of the suite is titled after its
planet and astrological character, and each piece is unique in sound. Mars, Bringer of War, named
after the Roman god of War, conveys the ideas of power, strength, and severity to the audience
using loud and powerful sounds with an upbeat tempo. Venus, Bringer of Peace sharply contrasts
its predecessor. Venus is the Roman goddess of beauty, love, and prosperity, so this piece echoes
those ideas with slower, gentler, and all together more peaceful sounds.
Mercury, The Winged Messenger takes up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theme of the Venus piece is peace. Venus is a planetcompletely shrouded in clouds. It also
rotates slowly, giving it a relatively calm, serene, and smooth appearance. Unbeknownst to the
people of Holst s time period, Venus is actually a very deadly planet. Its atmospheric pressure
would crush a person before he ever reached the surface of the planet if the incredibly high
temperatures did not kill him first. The themes of the Mercury piece are quickness and flight.
Mercury is the smallest planet in our solar system, and its atmosphere is astonishingly thin. One
day on Mercury is about 58 Earth days, and one Mercury year is 88 days, so it is indeed quite a
speedy planet. The theme of the Jupiter piece is jollity. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar
system, and it is an incredibly stormy and harsh planet. We can see Jupiter up close now by using
high resolution telescopes, and we can see how active the planet is. The theme of the Saturn piece
is age, perhaps so attributed to age because of its accumulation of asteroids that form its famous
rings. The themes of the Uranus piece are magic and showmanship. Uranus (along with Venus)
rotates clockwise while all the other planets

The History Of Fossil
Fossils are the way scientists trace the way back to things that were once living but have died.
They can be plant or animal bodies that have been partially or completely replaced by minerals.
Fossils are the preserved remains or traces of living things. Molds and casts, which are two of
the more common fossils, are copies of the shapes of ancient organisms. Petrified fossils are
remains in which minerals replace all or part of an organism, Preserved, the process preserves the

The Importance Of Science And Science
In the modern world, science and math make up everything around us. The world we live in now
exists because of science and math, but there was a time when people didn t like math and science.
A time when people would rather believe religion and logic, then math, science, and evidence.
Narrator Michael Mosley tells a story of science. He says the story of one of the great upheavals in
human history was how we came to understand that our planet was not at the center of everything
in the cosmos but just one of billions of bodies in a vast and expanding universe. In Greece, at the
temple of Apollo, there was the city of Delphi, where many greeks would go because they belived
there was a stone that was in the middle of the Earth and the middle of the universe. Greek
scientists believed that the Earth remained still, while the rest of the stars and planets moved
around us and Earth was in the middle of the cosmos.
For thousands of years, people believed that the Earth was in the middles of the universe. They even
built equipment that further fueled their belief. In modern times, we know this isn t true, so how
did people stop believing? It started in the 17th century.
During the 17th centruy, Europe was in turmoil. Religion and new rules were sweeping across the
nation. It was during this time that Rudolph II, who ruled Prague, wanted new discoveries. Prague
was at the center of wealth and power, so Rudolph II wanted to show it. Enter Tycho Brahe, a

Man Can Not Live Without God

Man Cannot Live Without God
The question Can man live without God? is interesting because most people would argue that it
depends on worldview. However through a careful analysis of The Scarlet Letter and Ravi
Zacharias book Can Man Live Without God a definitive answer can be concluded. The depiction
of God s role in The Scarlet Letter, the antitheistic worldview described in Can Man Live Without
God, and a look into how God affects life today will provide more than satisfactory information to
conclude that man cannot live without God.
The Scarlet Letter is a brilliant novel depicting the life of Hester Prynne after having an affair with
a local reverend. Hester Prynne, at first ravenous and distraught in her jail cell, soon overcomes
her situation by finding peace in her daughter Pearl. Even though the rest of the city has shunned
her, Hester credits God for blessing her with a wonderful daughter from her sinful affair. However,
every coin has two sides. Hester s lover, and Pearl s father, Rev. Dimmesdale finds himself in an
increasingly worse situation. Dimmesdale, not having the same closure that Hester did in Pearl,
begins to become filled with guilt and worry. This eventually leads to him developing a heart
condition and unknowingly seeking treatment from Hester s fiendish long lost husband, Roger
Chillingworth. Chillingworth is hell bent on tormenting Hester and her lover for betraying him.

[Institute s Name] Muriel Spark s The Girls of Slender Means Analysis
Introduction
Muriel Sparks is an author of great vision and ambition. She got her work The Girls of Slender
Means published in 1963, when she was in her forties. The book was appreciated by all on its best
contributions; the book has literary features; irony, fun, penetrating, unsettling and extremely
beautiful theme that people found undeniably striking.
Discussion
Spark witnessed the disturbing propaganda of wartime, experiencing gloomy delicacies and
powerful language of the time inaction. Her writing shows reflection of human aptitudes and this is
the reason regarded by critics that it has ability to change things into fiction from reality. Every
word in novel is best placed, to save, or to kill.
Muriel Spark s work is appreciated as appealing to readers and described best as clever and elegant.
According to Waugh, novelsof Spark are extraordinarily various, diverse in themes and all novels

reveals the irony of affirmations of order. The royal family was welcomed by crowd, they were

Jonathan Edwards Persuasion
Persuasion has caused lots of us to rethink how they live and who they are. But what exactly is
persuasion? Persuasion can be defined as the attempt to convince someone that something, that
they may or may not believe, is true. When used correctly, persuasion can cause almost anyone to
think or do anything. Many persuasive techniques can be used to make someone think the way
you want them to, or do what you want them to do. Jonathan Edwards was preacher and writer. He
gave many sermons to try and persuade others to think and do what he wanted them to. One of his
most well known written sermons is Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. He used the art of
persuasionin this sermon to try and convince people to change their ways before the were cast
into the burning pits of hell. Some of the persuasive techniques used by Jonathan Edwards in
Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God were logical reasoning, emotional appeal, and imagery.
Jonathan Edwards used logical reasoning to try and persuade others to repent of their sins, so that
they aren t cast into the flames of hell. First, what is logical reasoning? Logical reasoning is a
persuasive technique that attempts to convince one of something by explaining it in a logical
sense. For example, grass is green because of how it absorbs and reflects light. This is something
that is true and cannot be changed, it cannot be easily argued with. Edwards used this technique to
make sure he had something to back up his other statements that

Examples Of Rebirth In Phoenix Jackson
How Phoenix Jackson Represents Rebirth and Immortality When reading the colorful story
Worn Path by Eudora Welty, her many descriptions bringing life to what would have been a
desolated America during the Great Depression. Phoenix Jackson, main character, herself even

Phoenix Jackson is described first as old African American woman. When given her description
of herself (outfit and features), personality, and her many struggles to retrieve medicine, can
been seen as rebirth or immortality, as well as describing America and it s future after
depression. Phoenix Jackson s body, that is described, and her ethnicity are worth studying. At
this time in history, the nineteen thirties, being a woman and African American were both
downsides to what would have been desired: Caucasian and male. Phoenix Jackson s skin tone is
also described very differently as well, with patches of multi skin tone with blue rage eyes
(288). At first it is another noteworthy description, but when view deeper it could represent
multiple things. Like many rebirthing that of a phoenix (mythical bird, that rebirth in a fireball,
and reborns from their ashes) goes through, signifying her treacherous journey and obstacles
overcome. It also can be used to show the diversity of not just her, but of America, where
everyone old, sick, poor, no matter of race suffering all together. Phoenix Jackson wrinkles on
her face, described as a tree roots, where tree sported in the middle of her face. Then even goes
as far as telling us that gold underlining around her wrinkles and forehead, a color commonly
associated with phoenix colors (usually represented as gold and red). Which explains her red
rag that she wears around her head. Like that of a phoenix, she herself is draped like one. From
Phoenix s scalp to her golden wrinkles. The personality of Phoenix Jackson is that as one of a mad

Essay On William Lyon Mackenzie King
William Lyon Mackenzie King
Help those who cannot help themselves was William Lyon Mackenzie King s life motto as a
child. William Lyon Mackenzie, better known as Mackenzie King was the 10th Prime Minister
of Canada. Mackenzie was the leader of the liberal party and is currently Canada s longest serving
Prime Minister at 22 years. In this essay I will argue why I believe Mackenzie King should be the
next Prime Minister of Canada. I believe William Lyon Mackenzie Kingshould be the next Prime
Minister of Canada due to his lengthy leadership experiences, his high degree of intelligence and
how he was able to define Canadian Independence.
The first reason I believe William Lyon Mackenzie King should be the next Prime Minister of
Canada is because of his high degree of intelligence. Mackenzie King was born in Kitchener,
Ontario and was raised up in a family of politics. Mackenzie s grandfather was was the first
mayor of Toronto and had led the Upper Canadian Rebellions. William Lyon Mackenzie King has
earned five degrees throughout his life, three of which are from the University of Toronto. After
he processed to the University of Chicago and Harvard where he earned his Master s Degree in
Political Economy in 1898. In 1908 the University of Harvard also had granted William Lyon
Mackenzie King a PhD on his report about the Oriental Immigration to Canada. In which he argued

The Collegiate Experience Of Student Athletes
The collegiate experience of student athletes varies across the sports played, divisions, and
grade level. Division one athletes are the most likely to be engaged in the college experience
than other athletes (NCAA, 2015). One big predictor in the level that student engage in the
college experience is whether they view themselves as an athlete or a student (NCAA, 2015).
That decision holds implications from there on. Those who identify more as an athlete and less
as a student tend to have lower gpa s, and devote less time to their academic work than other
students. Those that identify as students have an average gpa of 3.2, spend 30 hours on
athletics, 40 on academics, and miss an average of 1.3 classes (NCAA, 2015). Those that
identify more as athletes have an average gpa of 2.9, spend 35 hours a week on athletics, spend
36 on academics, and miss an average of 1.7 classes (NCAA, 2015). The amount of time spent
toward various activities varies across different sports and the level of commitment they require.
Despite this student athletes in all sports generally commit large amounts of time to both athletics
and academic endeavors (NCAA, 2015). The majority of student athletes report that they are
actively involved in their campus community outside of athletics and believe that their athletics
participation has benefited them socially (NCAA, 2015). A research study done by the NCAA
examined social participation across several platforms. They are as follows; performance

How Has The Motion Picture Changed Everything
The Motion Picture changed everything. The very first movies were rather basic, showing
everyday routines such as the arrival of a train or female workers leaving a factory. The very

cowboy bandits and their attempt to steal money from a moving train. Then several Westerns

Giuseppe Garibaldi was born in Nice, France in 1807. He spent most of his youth as a sailor on

because there was so much to learn, study, and truly understand. I walked through the door into

Get out your notes and study because you have a test today , he said. As I heard him finish his

as fast as I could. I had completely forgot that I had a test in biology.
While reading over my notes, I kept thinking to myself that I just knew I was going to fail this

skim even faster over my notes. It felt like time was moving so fast because when I heard my teach

the classroom and instructed us to fill out our student ID numbers. I looked over the unfilled

frightened me even more because I had to answer 30 questions on information that I barely studied.
Then he handed out the test and I became extremely nervous because not only did I barely study
and there were 30 multiple choice questions, but the classroom was so cold that

How Did The American Revolution Influence Louis Xvi
In 1770, Louis XVI married Marie Antoinette of Austria. Marie was the daughter of the Austrian
Archduchess and the Holy Roman Emperor. Their marriage was to strengthen the alliance between
France and Austria, longtime enemies. With the death of Louis XV in 1774, Louis XVI and Marie
Antoinette became king and queen. Louis XVI had no interest in engaging with Marie Antoinette.
This lead to no children until seven years after their wedding. Each had their own spare time at
which they could partake in everyday things that each other enjoys. Louis XIV enjoyed making
locks from scratch. He also enjoyed carpentry. While Louis was busy making locks, Marie was
busy living a luxurious life in the palace. She ate well and wasn t afraid of using money... Show

Although Marie showed little interest in learning about the people of France; Louis was well
educated and advocated the abolition serfdom and an increase of religious toleration. He
supported the American Revolution in hopes of weakening the British Empire. France was
irritated that their money was being used to aide foreign wars. The population of France soon
blamed the king for inaction and revolutionary ideas became to form. Marie was actually a nice
person, she was just ignorant to those who didn t have the luxuries that she did. Politics of the
time nicknamed her Madame Deficit because of her spending habits. The only crime that Marie
was guilty of at that time was her insensitivity to the value of money. On the 20th of December in
1778, Marie had her first child, a daughter, Marie Therese. To France this wasn t the greatest news
because they needed a son to be a heir. Marie didn t mind though because a daughter she could
keep for herself; but a son belonged to the nation. Three years later though the couple had the long
awaited son, Louis

The Bourne Identity Essay
The Bourne Identity
In this essay, I compared the book, The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum and the film of the
same name, directed by Doug Liman. The main character Jason Bourne was played by Matt
Damon and Marie St. Jacques is played by Franka Potente. The book and movie were extremely
different from each other. The book had more detail of the overall story, easier to comprehend
and had character build up. While the movie seemed to only be interested in the action. I thought
the book to be more fulfilling in its story and the movie to be predictable and tedious
(considering I fell asleep). It didn t take long to notice they were completely different. I wasn t
prepared for the movie to be so off from the book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Washburn studied and made Jason Bourne wait until he thought he was fit to go out into the
world, for instance he made him go on a fishing trip with the hardest fishing crew around to
prove his was ready. As always, Jason Bourne proved he was ready for anything. Geoffrey
Washburn was never seen or mentioned in the movie which like I said was a great
disappointment, because that was the upbringing of Jason Bourne. He is partly responsible to
creating the new Jason Bourne. He is also the a great help to Jason Bourne while he tries to find
out who he was, and what he was. Another thing that is in the book, is the character Marie St.
Jacques who was first Bourne s hostage. Who was in Swedish women working for the Canadian
government. In the book she was very intelligent and sharp. She was able to escape from Bourne
and then was caught by the cops. She was used by the cops to find Jason and once they found
him, they tried to kill her. Though to her surprise Bourne had been following her and saved her.
She then felt like she had to be by his side and help him find his identity and then quickly fell in
love with him. None of what I said above happened in the film. In the film She was bribed into
helping Bourne and was just a petty girl that needed cash to stay in Sweden. She liked Jason Bourne

John Rupert Martin s quot;Baroque quot; Essay
This book by John Rupert Martin is a good introductory book in the understanding of Baroque
artists and their tremendous variety. Martin defines the Baroque characteristics, but only very
broadly leaving a significant amount of room for the reader to make his own deductions. In general,
Martin believes that the typical definitions of the Baroqueare too restrictive and hence likely to
create more problems of classification and interpretation than it solves. Even the time of the
Baroque is left open to the reader when Martin says the Baroque is roughly comprehended by the
seventeenth century. It is important to note at the outset that this is only a convenient
approximation; for epoch as a whole can certainly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still, out of all of the artists of the time, Martin believed that Carracci was the one who rescued
painting from its sorry plight. Martin believed that Caravaggio was a great naturalist during the
Baroque and he contributed to the trend of the time. Caravaggio s chiaroscuro throughout most of
his works enabled him to further the idea of realism. Still, Caravaggio is able to maintain his own
individualism and style. Soon after, Martin talks about the works of Bernini. Although Martin
believes that Bernini s efforts of realism are the most amazing, he does not force that idea on the
reader. He simply suggests that Bernini, through his detailed sculptures of flesh, movement, and
grace, gives the viewer a better sense of the moment which is being presented. p
The next theme of the Baroque which is discussed is referred to by Martin as the passions of the
soul. These emotions or in Martin s words, the portrayal of the inner life of man, finally came to
life during the Baroque. The Baroque was a time where no emotion lay hidden and all were to be
felt by both the artist as well as the spectator. Chiaroscuro was a tool used in many paintings to
further the emotional sense in the spectator. Sculpture too, was an emotional ride in the Baroque.
One such work is Bernini s The Ecstasy of St. Teresa.

  • 2. The Phases Of Conflict By Ceasefire And Post Agreement Essay In times of conflict, it is important to note the four phases of conflict. These four phases being, pre violence or the buildup period. Second, is armed conflict. Third is a ceasefire and lastly, comes the post agreement. The first two phases of conflict are not hard at all to achieve or attain. Certain nations around the world are almost always engaged in some form of conflictwith other ethnic groups or secessionist/ revolutionary forces. For a certain subset of nations, civil warappears to be a chronic condition. (Quinn, et.al. 2007) The last phases of conflict, ceasefire and post agreement are certainly much harder to attain and sustain than the first two phases. For this short essay, I have chosen the post agreement phase as being the most difficult to attain and uphold. I will discuss the reasons I believe this phase is the hardest to achieve, why or if it s even important and also briefly compare it to the preceding phases of conflict. The main reason I chose the post agreement phase as being the most difficult phase to achieve, is primarily because conflicting sides have to fight through the first three stages to get to the final stage. At this point, any trust each side had for each other is shattered and people will almost certainly be highly angered at the opposing sides for events that occur during conflict. Not only that, but often times, conflicting parties never even reach this point. Some conflicts only end in a ceasefire and never reach a full peace ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Artemis In Greek Religion Artemis is the goddess of hunting, the moon and the protector of children, wild animals, vegetation and childbirth. In roman mythology she is also known as Diana. Artemis has absolute power over nature and is said to bring fertility to all the places that worshipp her. Artemis is usually seen armed with her bow and poisonous arrows and wearing a knee high chiton (tunic) except for when she takes the form of an animal. She is always seen with a deer at her side. Like her brother she also has the power of healing. Artemissymbols are the Bow and the Pike, her symbolic tree is the Cedar and her sacred animals are the snake, the bear and the deer. There is a festival held every 5 years in honour of Artemis in Brauron of Attica, the Sanctuary of Artemis is also located in Brauron and the Temple of Artemis is in Ephesus which is one of the seven wonders of the world.... She is the twin sister of Apollo the God of the sun, music, the light and the prophecy and is probably the half sister of a lot of other deities considering how many affairs Zeus had. Artemis was born before Apollo and she helped her mother who was having a hard birth because she was cursed by Hera, give birth to him on Mount Cynthus at the island of Delos in Greece, after seeing her mother s pain as a young child Artemis asked from her father Zeus to be an eternal virgin and from then on became one of the three virgin goddesses along with Hestia and Athena. She and her brother were fiercely loyal to their mother Leto, so when the mortal queen Niobe boasted that she was better than Leto because she had 7 sons and 7 daughters whereas Leto only had Apollo and Artemis, their mother ordered them to kill all of her 14 children and they ... • 4. The Last Judgement Essay The Middle Ages, often referred to as the Dark Ages, the era of darkness and despair, occurred after the fall of Rome. During the Dark Ages, their priorities were different from the Romans; education, architecture, and art were no longer valued. Instead, their main focus was survival, and caused people to turn to God as a source of hope resulting in Rome s glory being forgotten. Although, at the end of the Dark Ages, a man, named Petrarch, wanted to bring back Rome and Greece s glory, and believed in the value and potential humans possessed promoting humanism. Thus, soon came the Renaissancethe rebirth of classic ideas and culture. Michelangelo, recognized as one of the greatest artists of all time, is often credited for the Sistine ChapelCeiling, and until you have seen the Sistine Chapel, you can have no adequate conception of what man is capable of accomplishing (Goethe). The incapacity to identify good requirements has also led to other project delivery problems such as the desire to narrow the scope of the project so as to minimize the requirements workload and risk. Users should understand what it is they want, and be able to identify it specifically. if you don t get the business requirements right, however well you deliver the project, the client/business will be dissatisfied. 4. Scope creep more frequently occurs during the later stages of a project, such as programming and testing, than during the earlier stages, such as design. This can occur when the scope of a project is not properly defined, documented, or controlled. This is a management issue similar to change control. Management should be able to figure it all out at the start. A project manager often tries to manage scope creep. • 6. The Standard Of Living During The Industrial Revolution... Henry Ziegler 10044371 Prof. Frank Lewis ECON 231 Thursday, November 20, 2014 Analysis on the Standard of Living in the Industrial Revolution Debate Before the Industrial Revolution, Great Britain s economy relied heavily on agriculture, which at that point of time was based a flawed system dating back to the Middle Ages. This system, known as the open field system, showed agricultural inefficiencies, and was disallowing of innovation. These inefficiencies eventually led to the privatization of land for agriculture, in an effort to solve what is now commonly referred to as the tragedy of the commons . Great Britain was now moving forward, and as the country (and continent) began enclosing their land, Britain began a period of modernization, with new technologies that would increase productivity in industry to a level never before seen. This is the period commonly referred to as the Industrial Revolution, and was an era of unprecedented growth in industry from the middle of the 18th century until around the middle of the 19th century. In 1760, 53% of the British population worked in agriculture. By 1840, that had dropped to 29%. The evolution from water and wind power to steam engines, as well as the creation of many pieces of machinery for the textile industry (such as the Spinning Jenny, which reduced the production time on yarn) vastly improved British manufacturing of goods, and the reliance on agriculture continued to drop. The development from an agricultural focus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Symptoms Of Microcephaly Associated With Zika Cases Essay Abstract The Zika outbreak of 2015 shined new light on a once underestimated and lesser known tropical disease. With the immense effect on pregnant mothers, it quickly became an issue of global concern. This review will address the concern of the specific symptom of microcephaly associated with Zika cases in pregnant mothers. Additionally the pathology of Zika transmission as well as possible treatments will be discussed, as they are all important issues to investigate given the relevance of Zika in global public health. This outbreak was one met with confusion and a mass of misinformation, so this review seeks to clarify many of the principles that were misrepresented to the public, and for the research direct ideal focus for future studies. The Zika Virus: A Review Zika virus was first discovered in the Zika Forest of Uganda. It originated a virus of primates that was later found to infect humans. The virus is characterized by its single stranded RNA structure(Arnaoutakis Padhya, 2016). Due to a lack of attentions, the virus went relatively unstudied until it started to affect the global community through one of the largest epidemics on record. Since the first reported case of Zika virus in the 1950s, the virus has affected millions of people. There have been 2 documented outbre (Ochler, et. al, 2016)aks of the virus one in France in 2013 and the second in South and Central America in 2015. The effect of confirmation bias is stronger for emotionally charged issues and for deeply entrenched beliefs. People tend to interpret ambiguous data as supporting their pre existing belief. Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter The bond between a husband and wife can be so strong sometimes and the two stories To My Dear Loving Husband and Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter show how much each spouse loves each other. Although, each one talks about the love towards one another they both have different ways of expressing it. Major Sullivan Ballou s Last Letter was written during the civil wars time so it was more based on that, while To My Dear Loving Husbandwas written way back in 1641. The most obvious difference is the fact that one shows the perspective of a woman while the other tells a story from a man s perspective. The letter is written by a guy in the army to his wife and kids. He talks more about how he loves the Country so much that he is willing to die for it. The major does not really mind the fact that he is about to die and leave his family behind. Instead he tells his wife and kids to stay strong and that he will always be there for them. In contrast, the poem talks about how the women values her husband s love and how he is such an idol. She would put her husband before anything and anyone. Slowly we surpass into higher levels of consciousness that can ultimately represent the stages of maturation. The Role Of Private Military Contractors ( Pmcs ) Thesis: The role of private military contractors (PMCs) has expanded tremendously since the end of the Cold War when western governments began the process of trimming their bloated military forces. As privatization commenced, governments began to rely upon a new kind of contractor that sold not only hardware but also manpower and expertise. Even as conventional militaryforces declined, the need for highly capable, professional soldiers remained pressing, especially in conflict prone areas around the world. PMCs filled these gaps, providing military assistance, advice, and security services to governments, companies, and NGOs. However, the role of these companies, and the legal framework surrounding them remains up for debate, and recent cases of misconduct with deadly consequences only muddy the waters further. The question remains: do PMCs serve to help or hurt human rights in areas where they are deployed? In this paper, I will argue that PMCs do have a critical role in the modern battlefield as providers of logistical, training, and security services, but their use in offensive actions or assistance with so called black operations should be circumscribed to the point of nonexistence. I will analyze two cases studies where PMCSs were deployed: Iraq and Sierra Leone to determine the positive and negative ramifications of their deployment. In other words, a combination of these four factors decides or predicts human behaviour and performance. MARS stands for Motivation, Ability, Role Perceptions and Situational Factors. MARS model takes into account the fact that both internal as well as external factors play a decisive role in molding one s behaviours and performance. Motivation, ability and role perceptions are factors that are under control of an individual and hence can be viewed as internal factors motivation and ability are either innate, or acquired or learnt, and role perceptions denote the idea and image one has of one s role and the way he perceives or understands it. It is crucial to note that absence of any of these factors will not result in the expected performance despite the influence of other factors. One aspect of continuity is the theme tunes played at the start and the end of the programme. At the beginning of all soaps there is a main theme tune. In Eastenders the programme begins with the drum roll. It is loud and easily recognisable. As this is playing, a large birds eye view of London is shown. It gradually zooms in onto Albert Square as the soap begins. This sets the scene effectively as the audience instantly know where the soap is set. It also makes it seem more realistic as it is set in a real location as opposed to the setting being in a studio. In Coronation Street the theme tune is a violin melody. (1 mark) Elements with atomic numbers greater than iron s atomic number form during the formation of a supernovae, also known as a mini bang. The process begins when a massive star has depleted its supply of magnesium and silicon, and only has a bare iron ore remaining. Now, the star no longer has the energy to maintain its immense mass against the force of gravity, and as a result, the entire star collapses. This process fuses together electrons and protons in the core, which forms neutrons. After neutrons build up in the ore, the star recoils in the form of an explosion. During the explosion, the neutrons attach to iron atoms in the ore, and begin converting back to protons and electrons. As a result, iron atoms are able to become different elements with greater atomic numbers. 2.Explain how Patterson determined the age of the Earth (4.55 billion years old)? The world we live in now exists because of science and math, but there was a time when people didn t like math and science. A time when people would rather believe religion and logic, then math, science, and evidence. Narrator Michael Mosley tells a story of science. He says the story of one of the great upheavals in human history was how we came to understand that our planet was not at the center of everything in the cosmos but just one of billions of bodies in a vast and expanding universe. In Greece, at the temple of Apollo, there was the city of Delphi, where many greeks would go because they belived there was a stone that was in the middle of the Earth and the middle of the universe. Greek scientists believed that the Earth remained still, while the rest of the stars and planets moved around us and Earth was in the middle of the cosmos. For thousands of years, people believed that the Earth was in the middles of the universe. They even built equipment that further fueled their belief. In modern times, we know this isn t true, so how did people stop believing? It started in the 17th century. During the 17th centruy, Europe was in turmoil. Michael Carpenter AP English Duhram 8/7/16 Man Cannot Live Without God The question Can man live without God? is interesting because most people would argue that it depends on worldview. However through a careful analysis of The Scarlet Letter and Ravi Zacharias book Can Man Live Without God a definitive answer can be concluded. The depiction of God s role in The Scarlet Letter, the antitheistic worldview described in Can Man Live Without God, and a look into how God affects life today will provide more than satisfactory information to conclude that man cannot live without God. The Scarlet Letter is a brilliant novel depicting the life of Hester Prynne after having an affair with a local reverend. Hester Prynne, at first ravenous and distraught in her jail cell, soon overcomes her situation by finding peace in her daughter Pearl. Even though the rest of the city has shunned her, Hester credits God for blessing her with a wonderful daughter from her sinful affair. However, every coin has two sides. Hester s lover, and Pearl s father, Rev. Dimmesdale finds himself in an increasingly worse situation. Dimmesdale, not having the same closure that Hester did in Pearl, begins to become filled with guilt and worry. This eventually leads to him developing a heart condition and unknowingly seeking treatment from Hester s fiendish long lost husband, Roger Chillingworth. Chillingworth is hell bent on tormenting Hester and her lover for betraying him. Even though ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Collegiate Experience Of Student Athletes The collegiate experience of student athletes varies across the sports played, divisions, and grade level. Division one athletes are the most likely to be engaged in the college experience than other athletes (NCAA, 2015). One big predictor in the level that student engage in the college experience is whether they view themselves as an athlete or a student (NCAA, 2015). That decision holds implications from there on. Those who identify more as an athlete and less as a student tend to have lower gpa s, and devote less time to their academic work than other students. Those that identify as students have an average gpa of 3.2, spend 30 hours on athletics, 40 on academics, and miss an average of 1.3 classes (NCAA, 2015). Those that identify more as athletes have an average gpa of 2.9, spend 35 hours a week on athletics, spend 36 on academics, and miss an average of 1.7 classes (NCAA, 2015). The amount of time spent toward various activities varies across different sports and the level of commitment they require. Despite this student athletes in all sports generally commit large amounts of time to both athletics and academic endeavors (NCAA, 2015). The majority of student athletes report that they are actively involved in their campus community outside of athletics and believe that their athletics participation has benefited them socially (NCAA, 2015). Soon after, Martin talks about the works of Bernini. Although Martin believes that Bernini s efforts of realism are the most amazing, he does not force that idea on the reader. He simply suggests that Bernini, through his detailed sculptures of flesh, movement, and grace, gives the viewer a better sense of the moment which is being presented. p The next theme of the Baroque which is discussed is referred to by Martin as the passions of the soul.
