Essay on Atlantis Intrigues a Teen
Plato much believed that the civilization of Atlantis existed (Writer873). The origins of Atlantis
are written in Plato s Critias and Timaeus (Plato). Written around 350s B.C., the main character
Solon, travels to Egypt and learns of Atlantis by priests (Writer873). He claimed his dialogues to
be true records (Atlantis Subplots). Timaeus explains Atlantis was the island situated in front of the
straits, which are by you called Pillars of Herakles; the island was larger than Libya and Asia put
together (Plato). It goes on further Atlantis was a great wonderful empire which had rule over the
whole island (Plato). Through short explanations Timaeus ends Atlantis defeated and triumphed
over the invaders, but afterwards there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The secrets, including the culture, of Atlantis are fascinating in the way Plato illustrates the city.
Atlanteans were far more advanced than any civilization during their time, not to be mistaken
with Atlanteans being more advanced than any civilization during our time. Atlantis culture is
explained in Critias by a great amount within it s pages and it is extraordinary how the people
behaved so civil and orderly back then. The first thing the reader will learn in reading Critias is
Atlantis is ancient, ancient as in 9000 years (Plato). It s no wonder Atlanteans became far more
advanced than Athenians and other neighboring ancient cities. The empire had time to form a
stable society and conduct new ways to make life easier. The other detail in Critias is Athens
was in command one side and fought through the whole war, and in command of the other side
were the kings of the island of Atlantis (Plato). Showing the two cities weren t on the good terms
before the fall of Atlantis. The article Atlantean Culture writes about the belief the people of
Atlantis were dominantly a race of reddish in color, average height, and slightly egg shape heads
and sloped forehead. Egerton Sykes (1894 1983), was not only the creator of the largest private
collection on Atlantis in the world, he prided himself on knowing every scientist around the world

The Civil War And Reconstruction Periods
The Unfinished Revolution
The Civil War and Reconstruction periods had many positive outcomes for America, such as the
reunification of the Union, the expansion of the North and South s economy, education for all, and
much more. Although there were many positive results from these two periods, there was also an
aftermath of much failure. The post Civil War, and Reconstruction period consisted of the
formation of the Ku Klux Klan and the black code laws. Despite the fact that African American s
were no longer slaves, in many ways they were still not free. Furthermore, the creation of things
such as the Ku Klux Klan and the black codes created high tension between the black and white
races, a tension that can be argued is still present in modern day America. This essay will
examine the aspects of how the post Civil War and Reconstruction period was a failure with
regards to social, economic and political, and radical development for newly freed slaves.
Social Development Once African American s were freed they faced many social obstacles. Blacks
wanted to immediately be given the same treatment to whites in the workforce, such as have one
day off per week so they could have more free time with their families. Blacks had more than the
right to request time off, but some whites in American thought that this request was unreasonable,
mostly because white people now lacked the ability to exploit black labor (Ransom221). After
slavery ended the South was in short supply for

Disrupt Think The Unthinkable
However, this amalgamation of ideas did not come without its difficulties. A physicist named
William Shockley and his companions came up with a breakthrough invention of the transistors
which greatly changed the direction of technology. He then moved to the Valley where he
employed the bright minds from Stanford and set a company in the industrial park. He made his
employees take psychological tests to determine if they work together, before employing them.
However, he failed to assume the role of a leader and in the end lost the trust and respect of his
colleagues and employees (Simthsonian). In our assigned text book for this semester, Chapter 17 of
Disrupt think the unthinkable discusses the traits of a disruptive leader. Williams failed... Show

For example, William Shockley who was born in England, invented the transistor. Like a chain
reaction more innovators and companies were attracted to the Valley. From the famous garage,
they created the Homebrew Computer Club where they started working towards their goal of
creating a personal computer (historychannnel). Hobbyist and bright minds would share and
trade technologies. We have recently formed seven groups in which some ideas interlock or can
cooperate and help each other s ideas grow. It is possible to business ventures to share
information that benefit every participant and the Silicon Valley serves as an example. There
were many other places where people tried to create computers but they were not as successful
as the Valley. Besides being willing to attract brilliant minds and sharing information the leaders
of the Valley were also not afraid to fail. They would try out very idea see where it failed and try
once more. I hope to incorporate this trait in our group project. Homebrew eventually lead to the
creation of Hewlett Packard and Steve Job s Apple computers.
The most important factor towards the creation of a personal computer was the environment.
Terman might have foreseen that setting an industrial park would take businesses closer to Stanford
university forming a symbiotic relationship between the university and tech companies. Having
leaders like Terman who encouraged working together and sharing of ideas was also vital. Lastly
willingness to take risks and work on the kinks if they were errors to correct. Some say that Apple
rose to the top under Steve Jobs, by taking risks and by correcting mistakes made

Seamless Editing In The Field Of Film Making
Film editing was the concept related with the process of film making. However as the developments
are taking in the field of technology; hence this concept has changed towards the use of digital
technology. The film editor works with the raw footage, selects the best shots and then combine
them into sequences to create a finished motion picture.
Film editing is defined an art that can be used in various ways. It can create sensually provocative
montages; help in bringing out the emotional truth in an actor s performance. Also it can be used
for telling of a story and also for creating illusions.
Editing is considered an important part of film making as it helps in creating the mood and theme

The concept of seamless editing was used because it was one of the first films to use more than one
scene. This was the first narrative film that audiences could see going somewhere and was very
successful amongst different audiences. This film became so successful because alongside using
traditional editing techniques; it included new techniques such as Parallel Editing, Minor Camera
Movement and Crosscutting.
Later editing was also made to add color to the movies through the process of colorization. Also
specific techniques like flashbacks, close up and parallel actions were given in the movies to
arouse specific reaction from the audience (Poland, 2007).
Theories of editing
Soviet montage theory is an approach to understand and create cinema that relies heavily upon
editing. This was based on the concept of montage which was idea that arises from the collision of
independent shots wherein each sequential element is perceived not next to the other, but on top of
the other.
The following montages were used during editing:
Metric where the editing follows a specific number of frames cutting to the next shot no matter
what is happening within the image. This montage is used to elicit emotional reactions in the

was starting to peek out when she would sing at her Father s congregation. She was mostly self
taught herself and was known to be a child prodigy, with a nice voice and a gifted pianist. A few
days after Franklin had just turned just fifteen years old, she gave birth to her oldest son,
Clerence. Two years later her second child was born, whom she named Edward. The father of

Frozen Sociology
As stated in the textbook, gender socialization is the outcome of countless interactions, starting with
those between parents and children. At the youngest ages, of course, parents have the dominant
influence over this process. But as children age, their socialization continues under a variety of
influences, including their own personalities and their interactions with siblings, peers, schools,
and the wider culture. In adult life, socialization more often occurs in the other institutional arenas
(page 167 168).
In the movie Frozen from 2013, there are three main characters. There are two females, Elsa and

Elsa is overcoming her insecurities and trying to take hold of her unique abilities and be proud
of herself for who she really is. She was gifted, but she didn t see that, with the ability to control

from her sister and her kingdom. The fear of her own power and to protect the ones she loves
made her make that decision. When her kingdom discovered her power she believes the best
thing to do is to runaway and hide, somewhere she is alone and no longer has to be timid, or be
the terrified princess/queen she was before. She has transformed into a happy, confident young
woman, finally free to be her true self. Like today in day, where bullying is a major issue, Frozen

is of, sisterly, family love and how far family will go to protect each other. Both Elsa and her little

Brian Eno s Furniture Music
This traditional Eastern idea of living in harmony with nature contrasts sharply with the Western
practice of control and manipulation of the environment,
The earliest precursor I can think of for Eno s concept is Furniture Music, or Musique d
ameublement, by Erik Satie and Darius Milhaud, premiered in 1917. This is the first piece in
history expressly designed not to be listened to. Apparently, Satie ran around among the audience at
the first performance crying don t listen, don t listen , a difficult instruction to follow as the piece is
quite interesting, and it is hard to ignore music being played right in front of you
Satie s gesture fell flat, because the time wasn t yet ripe for it. A proper furniture music had to wait

Byzantine art tends to be considered in almost exclusively visual terms. However, Byzantine
writings about works of art appeal to all the senses and aim to involve the listener (who may also
be looking at the object described) in an emotional engagement with the image and with the scene
it depicts. Accordantly to the author Touch was a crucial means of assuring oneself of the reality
of spiritual truths. The New Testament is full of stories of people touching Christ, culminating in
that of doubting Thomas, who needed to put his hand into Christ s wounds to be assured that

Women In The Military During World War 1 Essay
World War marked the starting era for in the military. Due to the needed skills to the war effort and
aid soldiers into the battlefield, led the military establishment to call women into service. Although
their call to service was voluntary, held unequal treatment and no benefits, more than 12,000 women
enlisted in the war, and 400 nurses died during World War 1.
During World War, the only branches available to women were the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and the
Marine Corps. Women served as mostly nurses in the active duty service, both in the Army and
Navy military branches, fields such as the Army Nurse Corps that was established in 1901 and in
the Navy Nurse Corps which was established in 1908. Those who were not nurses, enlisted in the

Since during the World War 1, women held no form of presentation in the legislature. I gather what
was the first obstacle of why there was no women in the government before, reason for this was
due to their inability to vote. Women were not allowed to vote until 1920, a big factor to limited
power and representation in Congress. During the World War 1, important figures in the women s
rights movement help fight fighting for equality, Suffrage leaders Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B.
Anthony, and Lucy Stone pushed for women to gain a new sense of power. The 19th Amendment
to the Constitution, granted women the right to vote two years after the war, Congress granting
women to vote was a step towards women in legislature. It marked a sort of way to change the
political system by voting to change the system. Voting is an essential tool to get women voices
heard, the next step to get more female representation in the government. Following the Ratification
of the 19th Amendment, granting women to vote, 2 years after, Rebecca Felton became the first
women to serve in the U.S Senate in 1922 for four years.
Although women were not allowed to vote during the World War 1, their successful work in World
War played an important impact for expanding American women roles in the military and
developing the military acceptance of women in women service

The Symbolism Of Faith In Hawthorne s When Young Goodman...
First, Hawthorne uses Faith to represent young Goodman Brown s faith in God. When Young
Goodman Brown prepares to leave on his journey, Faith tries to warn him not to go on his set
course and to stay with her (Hawthorne 261 262). By leaving her, the author symbolizes that
Brown is consciously deciding to walk away from God, which ultimately leads him down the
wrong path.
Next, Hawthorne uses the withered branch to symbolize how Satan causes Brown s Faith in God to
diminish. As Goodman Brown and Satan continue further down the dark path together, the devil
breaks a branch from the side of the road. At the touch of his hand, the branch instantly withers
(Hawthorne 265). By showing how Satan s touch caused the broken branch to wither, Nathanial

My American Dream Essay
The idea of the American Dream conveys a delight to anybody endeavoring to accomplish this
deception. For most of the population living in America, there is a feeling of working towards
being in a superior position than the present one they are in. The fantasy is distinctive for every
person, a few people dream brings energy towards themselves and their loved ones, as others
work for a superior living for a whole society. This is the thing that makes this idea so uncommon
and one of a kind, is that it doesn t bare down on only one objective, however extraordinary
objectives originating from every person. The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with

something of themselves is often overseen by many. Nobody wants to leave their home, people
leave because of the necessities and their situation back home. That is their American Dream,
because they come to the United States in order to save themselves and their families back home. I
see Americans of every party, every background, every faith who believe that we are stronger
together: black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American; young, old; gay, straight; men, women,
folks with disabilities, all pledging allegiance under the same proud flag to this big, bold country

thing that makes this country what it is, so by doing what it takes to make your American Dream

The Advantages Of Medical Sensor Networks
Medical Sensor Networks have unique constrictions as compared to conventional networks making
the execution of security measures impractical. Medical Sensor Networks aspire to develop the
breathing healthcare and monitoring services, particularly for the aged people, kids and
persistently ill.
There are numerous advantages accomplished with Medical Sensor Networks. To commence with,
remote monitoring potential is the foremost advantage of MSN. With remote monitoring, the
recognition of urgent situations for menace patients will become simple and the people with
distinct degrees of processes and physical immobility will be facilitated to have a more sovereign
and trouble free life. The small kids and offspring will also be concerned for in a more protected
way while their blood relations are away. The individual care givers reliability will be reduced.
In Medical Sensor Networks applications, a real time is really a soft real time system, in which
delay is allowed to some extent (Kang G.Shin Parameswaran Ramanathan 1994). Recognizing crisis
situations like heart attacks or unexpected fall down in a small amount of time will be sufficient for
conserving lives, taking into account that without them these circumstances will not be known ...

Analysis Of David Kaplan s Doe Season
Everyone goes through changes in life, especially ones that define who you are. In David Kaplan s
short story Doe Season, he portrays a young tomboyish girl that metamorphosis into a young
woman over a short hunting trip. Not only does the young girl enjoy spending time with her father,
but she enjoys the things that he does shooting, camping, hunting. This is not typical of your
average girl, or even a 9 year old girl. Throughout the story there are symbols that show the
audience Andy s conflicts with herself and her genderor sexuality. It is also clear that she struggles
with herself and her gender rolein society. Gender roles are the result of the behavior of sexes in
society (Basow 1992). This means that men and women act a certain way to fit society s needs.
In 1985, there were apparent roles for gender. For example, the women usually stayed at home
while the men were out working or away. The women also stayed at home and cleaned the house,
made dinner, and were considered the home maker. In Doe Season, the author represents this
societal value. This is shown to the reader when it is said that her mother... cooked them eggs and
French toast (Kaplan 290). Even though the mother is exhausted and clearly not wanting to be up
that early, she is still up making breakfast for her husband and daughter. It is shown again when

Heirloom Swot Analysis Essay
An Analysis of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats in Opening an Heirloom Seed
Supply Online Americans are showing a greater interest in living healthier lifestyles; eating
cleaner has become a growing part of our culture. As this culture grows, so too does the need for
businesses that supply ingredients to support the trend (Essen Englander, 2013). In recent studies,
it has been found that genetically modified foods are not as preferred as the more natural versions
from before mankind endeavored to make structural changes to raw products (Bawa Anilakumar,
2012). One of the most difficult aspects of changing one s lifestyle to eliminate GMOs is finding
said foods in a natural state. This speaks to a need for supplying... Show more content on

After evaluating this analysis, it will be easier to determine if the negative aspects of starting such a
venture significantly outweigh any positives. Possibly the easiest of the four quadrants of the
SWOT Analysis to determine are the strengths.
Strengths
The strengths of running an heirloom seed business from home: easy inventory storage; no
employee issues or costs; no need to wear a uniform or leave the house; and no true schedule.
Unlike many businesses that sell physical products, whether it s internet sales or in store, seeds take
up very little space. One could easily sell many varieties with nothing more than a garage to store
the inventory! A preferred method would be to have a separate room, climate controlled, with
shelves to hold bins of inventory. Unlike selling t shirts or gadgets, seeds could have months of
inventory on hand in one converted guest bedroom. Operating in this fashion would negate the
need to hire employees.
Having a traditional business in a store often requires hiring people to assist in the running of it.
With no employees, there is no need for a human relations department, overtime pay, extra
insurance costs, or salaries. Based on statistics from the Bureau of Labor published in September
of 2017, one part time service employee averages a cost per hour of

How Did Icarus Change Ovid s Life
The story of Daedalus and Icarus, reflected Ovid s changing thoughts and morals of his personal
life as he undergoes the life changing event of getting exiled by Emperor Augustus, through the
characters of the poem. Ovid is born an Icarus, innocent and naive, with no idea of how much
danger awaits him if he chooses to forsake his guide and soar in the boundless sky . Ovid s father
planned for him to become a political official, sending him to Rome to get an education, and then
Athens. Ovid s anxious father planned his future, as Daedalusplanned Icarus s, in order to make
sure their sons had prosperous steady lives. (Ovid) At first both sons were cooperative; but then

Perdix, after being murdered by Daedalus, was turned into the Partridge. The Partridge hides in
shaded places by the leafy trees its nested eggs among the bush s twigs; , writes Ovid himself in
Daedalus and Icarus, nor does it seek to rise in lofty flight, for it is mindful of its former fall. The
Partridge keeps in the bushes, not all the way under the ground in poverty, as Ovid s father
thought he would be, but also not high in the sky, bold and arrogant enough at the success of his
career, which causes him to take risks. The Partridge enjoys a steady life, living the middle way.
After Ovid s poem and a mistake , which he told his readers himself was the reason that he was
exiled, he lived a relatively average life. He was miserable enough at first in his prison, but not
because he lived in poverty, the bottom ground. He lived a relatively comfortable life, treated
extremely well by inhabitants of Tomis, and as stated by Kenney, there are hints in the later poems
that Ovid was even becoming reconciled to his fate when death released him. Ovid continued to
write the poetry he so dearly loved, but they never reached the grand heights of his earlier successes.
They attracted less attention, and made no bold statements anyone might find offensive. The once
brilliant genius, Perdix, who had surpassed even Daedalus himself, had learned

Child Care Affordable For Everyone
One major problem families in the U.S. are facing is the expensive costs of child care. No matter
if parents are having their first child or adding another one to the mix, parents should be able to
enjoy their newest addition without having to worry about how they are going to pay for quality
child care. The answer may not be as simple as having one parent stay home, while the other
works, especially if the parent is single and does not have anyone else to help watch their child.
Families all across the country are struggling to afford child care, I contend the government better
subsidize child care, offering the subsidyas a savings account to be used to pay for the child s care

half of their annual income in deductions. For example, if a charitable donor makes an annual
taxable income of 2 million dollars, they can receive a tax deduction of up to 1 million dollars. That
is a lot of money being given back to people who are giving out donations. The government should
not give out such large tax deductions for donating to charities and organizations such as hospitals,
educational facilities, and art institutions. If the government decreases the amounts of tax
deductions to the wealthy contributors, they can have more funds to spend on childcare making it
more affordable for hardworking parents just trying to provide for their

A Zombie Apocalypse
In the event of a zombie apocalypse everything in this world would change. Society will not be
the same, the norms society once had will be different. Governments would like to establish social
control but the environment would be too chaotic to control. A survival mode would be establish
by everybody, everybody would be by themselves, and only protect their own. Resources would be
the new currency, because paper money would no longer have value, but a resources will.
Governments would like to establish social order, but the people would not trust the government
anymore. Deviance will not have meaning; everything will be acceptable in order to survive in the
zombie apocalypse. Stealing, murdering, assassinating, fighting, and total disaster is expected
from this environment. If an individual needs food for its family and goes to the supermarket, and
he is denied the food, that individual will be fighting to get food for its family. Law enforcement
would be trying to enforce the law but they too will be in trouble. An individual needing something
in order to survive would kill anybody, including a law enforcement officer. Policewould realize
that their life is in danger and stop serving the government, if this happens who would enforce
order? This would be the start of a chaotic environment. The wealthy would try to buy resources or
services but their paper backed money will no longer be accepted why? Because there would be no

Racial Profiling, An Unjust Act And A Big Problem
According to the 11 Facts about Racial Discrimination, The U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics
concluded that an African American male born in 2001 has a 32% chance of going to jail in his
lifetime, while a Latino male has a 17% chance, and a white male only has a 6% chance (11 Facts
about Racial Discrimination 1). Racial profiling, or discriminating against a whole group of people
based on their race, is an unjust act and a big problem in our society today. Arresting people
because of how they look like, or what they believe in is absurd. According to ACLU, Racial
Profiling refers to the discriminatory practice by law enforcement officials of targeting individuals
for suspicion of crime based on the individual s race, ethnicity, religion or national origin (ACLU
1). Although law enforcement assumes they are doing their job, they need to remain objective and
fair in all situations, because they are violating rights, lacking protection and risking lives.
Law enforcement violates the rights of people by unfairly stereotyping minority groups. By
stereotyping minorities, law enforcement officers are violating the rights of the citizens being
falsely accused because of their race. Some law enforcement programs are highly known for
violating an entire group of people s rights (FBI 1). According to the article by Driscoll and

Are Genetically Modified Organisms
INTRODUCTION
When genetic engineering is done on an organism, it introduces new characteristics on the
organism. Organisms, that is plants and animal gene configuration can be changed using modern
biotechnology. When the genes in an organism are changed this basically called genetic
modification. There are some terms we need to know when we talk about genetic modification.
What is a genetically modified organism? This is a plant or animal which through new
biotechnology techniques, its genetic configuration has been changed. This has made changes in
the ways organisms grow in a tremendous way. Other names which can be used to mean the same
as genetic modification are genetic engineering (GE) and genetic manipulation (GM). Genes are

We can argue that, while not all genetically manipulated foods are safe, there are some which are
safe to use. Food and Drug Administration (2013) genetically modified food substances developers
must ensure that their product conform to some regulations on their safety. Some genetically
manipulated foods are very safe as they meet the safety requirements which are similar to those of
foods which are bred traditionally.(Hillstrom, 2012)
FOODS IN OUR LOCAL SUPERMARKETS WHICH ARE GENETICALLY MODIFIED
Several food substances in our supermarkets are as a result of genetic recombination. Maize is a
good example of those genetically engineered foods. When we take meat and milk, both are
constituent of genetic modification. This is true because feeding of this livestock uses genetically
modified feeds to improve the productivity of the animals. Poultry and poultry products also form
part of the genetically modified foods in the market. In the United States of America, all genetically
modified foods in the market have been approved by the food and drug Administration. This
protects consumers from harmful and toxic genetically manipulated food. In terms of fruits, some
include apples, mangoes and other fruits. (Hawkes,

constantly growing and shaping the industry. It is a leading food and beverage company that
operates as a manufacturing service as it makes it s own products and distributes them. PepsiCo s
current Chairman is Indra K. Nooyi and their headquarters are in Purchase, New York. The
corporation has around 274,000 employees and PepsiCo is regarded very highly on multiple
Forbes lists and is extremely popular around the globe. The company PepsiCo was established
after the merge of both Pepsi Cola and Frito Lay in 1965. The original beverage company, Pepsi
Cola, was created in the late nineteenth century. It is known as a mainly beverage focused
company, but there are many more brands and products associated with PepsiCo other than
beverages and it has an extremely diverse portfolio. Some of their brands are Gatorade, Doritos,
Quaker, and Lay s. PepsiCo is regarded as having monopolistic competition despite Pepsi and Coke
indefinitely controlling the beverage industry, making it extremely difficult for others to join the
industry. These two companies have large tension between each other and product differentiation is
a large part of their respective competitive strategies. Although their products are not much different
from each other, they are perceived to differ from each other in order to persuade consumers to lean

time period. The Twelfth Night is a play written by William Shakespearein 1601. The plot is a
modern day love triangle turned badly. Over four hundred years later, DreamWorks comes out
with a new interpretation of the old play called She s the Man. Although there are notable
differences between the two, it is fairly easy to see where the two plots overlap and where they

Social Effects Of European Exploration Of The New World
European exploration of the New World led to many social effects. To start with, the Europeans
brought with them many germs and diseases that decimated many societies in the Americas. The
diseases, such as the smallpox, led to the deaths of many indigenous people and the demographic
collapse of many Native American societies. The Europeans also brought plants and animals over to
the Americas. The plants that were grown reflected a distinct European diet and the horses in the
North American West were used frequently for hunting as farmers began to abandon their fields.
Women were no longer viewed as responsible for producing food as hunting became more
popular with men. Another social effect was how marriages between Spanish men and elite
native women were greatly supported in Amerindian societies. Native women who were married
to Spanish men lived a better life than ordinary native women. On the other hand, indigenous
women who were below the elite were frequently mistreated and abused by European men. Since
there were very few Spanish women, Spanish men and Indian women came together to produce
mixed race children known as Mestizo. Many Indian women agreed to have children with Spanish
men to ensure that they and their children would not have to be subjected to abuse. As the
Spanish took control over the Aztec and Inca empires, a social order based on race came into
existence. The Spanish male settlers were placed at the top, followed by the mixed race population,

Theories of Personality
In this paper I will show some of Jung s back ground, his theory, and speak of his contribution to
the world of psychology. His contribution was a great one, and it was said that many of his
theories were more complicated than many of the other psychologists of his time. As I read about
him, I began to appreciate his passion for this subject.
There were a few reasons that I chose him. First, I think it s amazing his contribution to figuring
out, personality types. Second, I find it interesting that he was spiritual, and incorporated some of
that spirituality to his theories. He was one of the theorists that took an approach to the ... Show

Personality Psychology helps an individual to define their human nature, and how that nature is
different from other people, but in various similar situations. For example, based on
Jung s theory of personality, an introvert may be shy, compared to an extrovert, when placed in a
social setting. Personality Psychology also might help a person to have a strong sense of oneself,
may assist them in understanding why they cope certain ways, or react to particular things that
happen. A therapist knowing this psychology can also shed light to their clients when helping
them to cope with life. According to Jung s theory, we all have some introversion, and some
extroversion, but are primarily one or the other. This is where people are similar. Human beings are
like each other because of our ability to have set backs, fears, failure, and have emotions that come
from within, when we experience hardship in life. Whether we react in an introverted way (inward
thought), versus extroverted (outward thought), is imperative and shows our similarity as well.
That we must all go through some form of process mentally, as a coping mechanism, when things
happen to us, or around us. Jung s theory on the Persona, anima, animus, shadow, and the
self(Ashford, 2011), can differentiate us as human beings.
Upon reading about the Shadow, it reminded me of the darker side of us. The part of people that is
mysterious, or thinks bad

As a Non Commissioned Officer in the Pennsylvania Army Nation Guard, I realize the

personal traits that I look for in a leader are courage, commitment, candor, competence, and
integrity. Out of these the most important one to me, is integrity. A man s word is his bond and the
most important leadership trait there is. Looking back, the man I see as a great leader that

Change Management At The Workplace
CHANGE MANAGEMENT IN THE WORKPLACE THOMAS M. GILL WAYLAND
BAPTIST UNIVERSITY Change management in the working setting is constant for all
Managers and leaders alike. To stay applicable and competitive businesses, managers, and
supervisors should as often as possible reclassify their technique for working, item/benefit
offerings and the impact this may have on your team, or shareholders. (Holmes, 2013) for
instance when we lead change (vast or minute) see to it that these four fundamentals are on your
agenda of things to do; make a feeling of earnestness, make a reasonable tomorrow, get people
consideration and get people involved at the right level, have clear actions or expectations and
desires. Nevertheless, managing change in the workplace shapes a feeling of uneasiness for a
great many people, any change is uncomfortable. Therefore, while we oversee changes in the
work environment, it is our obligation to help people in understanding that whatever they have
done truly should now change. Therefore, Managers and leaders must work to jump start interest
of purpose to get individuals excited to work out of their usual range of familiarity and grasp the
change. (Holmes, 2013) Let shareholders know why the old way is no more viable, by disclosure
persuading and genuine proof that individuals can feel, see, and touch that change must happen.
Whether we understand it or not, change is important in an association for it to keep being relevant
as a business, or for it to

Marriage And Arranged Marriages
So this topic that I have been wanting to address for awhile. I was talking to a friend the other
day about the whole dating aspect of BYU Idaho as well as just in the Mormon community. Now
my friend grew up outside of the church and so she has seen both the Mormon culture of dating
as well as the way that the world does it. Now she pointed out to me something that I never really
thought of before. She told me that it almost seems like we are so focused on the aspect of dating
and getting married because in our culture that is something that we strongly believe in because of
the covenants that we make with marriage. She said that we are in a sense having these arranged
type of marriages, in the sense that everyone around us is telling us to date this person or that
person or get married because it is a commandment and we are making these decisions not
because we truly love this person or we even truly believe that we want to get married, or even
fully understand the promises we will be making to that person and also to God. We aren t fully
making this decision because we truly believe that it is a good choice but because others around
us think so and to me that does seem a little bit like an arranged marriage.
I m not totally knocking arranged marriages because there are a lot of people out there who make
them work, even more than people who choose the person that they marry. The only thing I
disagree with arranged marriages is the fact that agency is taken out of marriage,

Coevolution With Particular Reference to Herbivory Essay
COEVOLUTION WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO HERBIVORY
Of all the extant organisms in the world, it is believed that terrestrial plants and their natural
enemies constitute more than forty percent. Moreover, plants exhibit a remarkable diversity of
supposedly defensive characteristics including trichomes, spines, silica, secondary chemical
compounds, temporal avoidance of enemies, and structures along with chemicals that attract
predators of their natural enemies. In addition, the exploitation of the plants and their defences is
facilitated by a vast number of behavioural, morphological and physiological adaptations by
herbivores
Accounting for this diversity has been a major area of research for nearly a century. The seminal

What happened in the past might be a different picture to what we have envisaged so far.
Thompson (1999) has proposed that there are crucial components to coevolution. These need to
be recognised before we can fully understand coevolution. Firstly, phylogenetic studies are
providing five kinds of data important in interpreting the historical context of coevolving
interactions. 1) Shared traits. Phylogenetic studies are allowing us to evaluate which traits of
interacting species were already present in the hosts ancestors. This allows us to determine
whether traits are coevolved or merely a trait exhibited as a consequence of the organisms
genotype. For example, Yucca plants provide a source of food for host specific Yucca moths, with
which they are believed to have coevolved. Examining the phylogenetic trees of these moths
elucidated this. Most moths in this family (Prodoxidae) exhibited host specificity (Davis et al
1992). Before this technology, people would have assumed the specificity of the Yucca moth to be a
product of the coevolution.
This brings up a useful comment by Vermeij (1994). Almost all inferences about coevolution are
derived from the existence of trends in the expression of traits that function during interactions
between species. Evolutionary trends have often been found by analysing ancestor dependant
relationships within monophyletic groups, or clades. Although many trends are best sought this
way, others cannot in principle be detected

The Pros And Cons Of Liberal Democracy
Since the dawn of human civilization, individuals have been constantly immersed in conflict with
each other. Whether these conflicts stemmed from socio economic inequalities, political disputes,
property rights, religious disagreements, or any other contentious matter, the creation of human
governments has necessarily been to handle, organize, and resolve conflicts between people within
communities in the least destructive manner possible. Governments act as a formal instrument
through which individuals in a society can agree upon shared rules, solve problems, and engage in
cooperative behavior, and it helps avoid the severe repercussions resulting from revolutionary social
upheaval. The purpose of governmentas spelled out in the Preamble of the Constitution is to
establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general
welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. While countless forms of
government have sprung up over the centuries, only one has been resilient enough and has had the
pervasive influence necessary to stand the test of time: democracy. While there are many different
types of democracies, this paper will focus on liberal democracy specifically. A liberal democracy is
a form of representative democracy that operates under the paradigm of classical liberalism.
According to the Center for Research on Globalization, liberal democracy is defined as:

Accents In To Kill A Mockingbird
People of many different regions and countries speak different languages. Even those that speak the
same language have different dialects and accents. Some people of different generations have
different dialects and slang. These accents cause people to judge a speaker because of their
antecedents. Although, many people attempt to stay open minded, people judge (sometimes
subconsciously) others education, class, and nationality, due to their way of speaking.
Sure, people attempt to be nonjudgmental and open minded. Today people really try not to be
judgemental over something someone can not control like their accents. People try to be politically

correct.
However, language is still a political instrument to describe someones identity. If a Russian with
good English was visiting the US and spoke to an American they may think they aren t trustworthy

Just from this man speaking people could tell he was black, poor, and had a lower education than

Music In The Romantic Era
Following the Pre Classical and Classical periods, a new, very distinctive style of music emerged.
The Romantic Era Lasted from the year 1820 up until the year 1900. The Romantic Era consisted
of composers taking a more unique and expressive style of music. Hector Berlioz, Fryderyck
Chopin, and Robert Schumann are considered to be the most influential composers of the Romantic
Era. Nationalism and Exoticism played a very big part of musicexpression during this period. Both,
Art song and German Lieder music styles were invented and told stories in a musical form. These
three composers helped shape this era through the use of the pianoand the use of a more
supernatural realm style of music.
Hector Berlioz was born in the year 1803 in France. At the age of twenty two he left his career to
pursue his musical career. He went on to composing his first symphony at the age of twenty
seven. Hector was highly criticized in his homeland France for his music. It was very painful for
hector to be rejected from the musical community and deemed as a laughing stock. After
receiving the negative reviews of his music, he stated, I belong to a nation which has ceased to
be interested in the nobler manifestations of intelligence, and whose only deity is the golden calf.
The Parisians have become a barbarous people (Berlioz, 2016). He had to work very hard to be able
to afford all of the costs for his performances and was pretty much ignored throughout his musical
career. He was later

A Brief Paragraph on The Rocking Horse by D.H. Lawrence
There are many people in this world that are so fun of greed and want that they don t pay
attention to the outcome that they are making. If money and luck is so important to some
people, why do they make such a big deal about who gives it to them. Money is going to be a
huge problem in our society because it is always the cause of bigger problems. In The Rocking
Horse by D.H. Lawrence, and A Shocking Accident by Graham Greene, they were two very
shocking endings, but The Rocking Horse Winner had the most surprising ending in my mind.
First of all, the greed of the mother is so overpowering that she doesn t even show affection or
love toward her kids so they fight for her love and hope that one day they would receive it. She
had bonny children, yet she felt they had been thrusted upon her, and she could not love them.
They looked at her coldly, as if they were finding fault with her. (1247) The children look to their
mother to hope for love and all that they seem to get in return is hate. She feels as if her children
are some kind of burden that was thrusted upon her as punishment for something. She says that
her husband has bad luck , but she may just be blaming it upon him so that she isn t forced to be
labelled as it. Second of all, the uncle is so amazed by the fact that the boy is talented enough to
become lucky when it comes to the amazing horse races. The uncle was delighted to find that his
small nephew was posted with all the racing news. (1250)

geological characteristics like surface colour, weathering degrees and others features will also be

From the Sydney geological map, we can find that Bondi is mainly situated on Hawkesbury

that they gradually weather out over time.
The presentation of water flow mark and a trace of sand on the rock surface are the result of wind

There is an old basaltic dyke that intruded along to the sandstone and it continues south. The dark

Bob Dylan Change
Thesis: history proves that change will eventually prevail whether it be in the present or
generations down line. And those who cannot accept it are simply left behind by society. Dylan
directly and metaphorically addresses this in his song. Additionally, I consider this theme to be
timeless because even today people push for change while others try to bar them, often stirring up
controversy.
1st paragraph: Bob Dylan, an American poet/ songwriter wrote the song The Times they are a

Blacks and Minorities alike were fight fighting for equality and rightful justice in society and they

The Epic Of Gilgamesh, And The Mahabharata
The journey, the hero, the triumph, and the defeat are all elements that some of literatures
greatest works have encaptured, such as: the Ramayana, The Epic of Gilgamesh, and the
Mahabharata. Each of these texts depicts a hero or protagonist that is unique to their culture
and although each of these heroes embark on a different journey with different purposes and
goals in mind, they all display a variety of features that people of then and now can relate to. It
becomes transparent that each of the journeys these heroes undertake are a lot like that of the
lives of people today. The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of the oldest pieces of literature known to
man. Written in 2700 B.C.E this epic poem centers in on an ancient king of Uruk in present day
Iraq. When we are first introduced to Gilgamesh, the king of Uruk, we see that he is a tyrant
ruler which is one third human, two thirds divine and in endowed with immense strength.
Instead of serving his people he suppresses them and engages in immoral behaviors fit for a king.
The behaviors result in a backlash from his citizens and the nobles began to complain bitterly
about these behaviors. The gods eventually intervene and in order to tame Gilgamesh s wild spirit
they create his equal, Enkidu, whose purpose in this epic poem is to help guide Gilgamesh in
becoming a better person and a better king for his people. Before Gilgamesh is introduced to
Enkidu there is little in his life that offers meaning to him, yet he still

How Do Political And Social Standards Influence US...
2.It is very difficult for political and social goals to not influence US accounting standard setting.
According to Solomons (1978, p. 65) quoting Charles Horngren, the setting of accounting
standards is as much a product of political action as of flawless logic or empirical findings. Why?
Because the setting of standards is a social decision. Standards place restrictions on behavior;
therefore, they must be accepted by the affected parties...getting acceptance is an exceedingly
complicated process that requires skillful marketing in a political arena. When a person or group
of people see an issue that they feel needs to be addressed, they are going to want it handled in the
way most desirable to them and their position. Hand in hand with

amongst the most iconic vehicle makers in the world. Founded back in 1911, by Louis Chevrolet,
the company, which is often referred to as Chevy, has a reputation of its own and a huge fan
following.
But, there are some interesting things that probably don t know about Chevrolet. So, here we present
30 things you didn t know about Chevrolet.
1.The co founder of Chevrolet, Louis Chevrolet was born in the year 1878, in Switzerland and not
the United States, as it is often thought. He moved to France when he was 6 years old and his father
taught him the basic mechanism of watch making in France.

25.All the five Corvette Grand Sport, are a part of private collections and it is valued to be worth
an approximate $6 to $8 million.
26.Corvette and the color white has a special connection. Wondering how? Well, the first Corvette,
the 500,000th, 1,000,000th, and 1,500,000th Corvette were all in the same color, white.
27.The year from 1999 to 2001 saw Chevrolet selling the C5 Corvette kit as the company was

Newsreels During The Second World War
Newsreels, five minute recordings depicting around four stories kept on a reel, were widely
produced across Western countries between approximately 1910 and 1967 (Boyer, 2015). In this
time, news corporations were founded and developed, and while this brought new possibilities to
broadcasting and documenting information, there were multiple limitations including cumbersome
equipment and censorship (Aspects of Britain; Broadcasting, 1993). This time also saw several
important historic events, such as the Great War later known as World War One 1914 to 1918, the
Spanish Civil War 1936 to 1939, and World War Two 1939 to 1945 (McKernan, 2000)
The first British newsreel was issued in June 1910; the weekly Pathe s Animated Gazette. By 1912,
it would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This suggests that newsreels before the beginning of the Second World War are useless as sources
for history, as their information gathering was mediocre and unreliable.
In the 1960 s, audio visual technology was becoming easier to manoeuvre and access. The
Vietnam War, dubbed The Living Room War , was the first war to be recorded and broadcast
directly into people s homes (Hallin, unknown), with televisions having been on the rise since the
1950 s (Television in the 1950 s, unknown). It is this rise of television that cause the newsreel to
become obsolete in 1967 (Schoenherr, 2008).
It appears from this analysis and these sources that newsreels are not a strong, reliable source for
history, due to a lack of policies, faked footage, cumbersome technology and other difficulties.
However, this is not to say that newsreels don t reflect values and trends of the time, or that
newsreels are completely useless. Without newsreels and their potentially unethical practices,
broadcasting news corporations such as the BBC would not have developed into the large, global
organisations that they are today. And, as with most history sources, newsreels can easily be used
as an easily accessible base before conducting further, cross referencing research, as is often used by

Character Analysis Of Medea
Edgar Allen Poe once said, I was never really insane except upon occasions when my heart was
touched . Some women in love may say the same, the infamous Medea included. Medea was a
married woman and a mother of two who was left alone and heartbroken; because of this, she
sought revenge after her husband left her for a woman of higher status. As she acted impulsively
and irrationally, she executed a murderous plan, one that left her old lover with the funeral plans of
both his new princess and their children. At first glance, one might say that she was heartless, evil,
and spiteful; however, by taking into account the motivation behind her actions, one can quickly
change their perspective to understand her reasoning. One way to understand someone better is to
look into their personality and how it was developed. Sigmund Freuddeveloped the concept that one
s personality is classified into three main structures in the mind that are constantly fighting each
other until one area dominates. The three main structures within Medea include the Id, Ego, and
Super ego, systems that are easily seen and demonstrate how each part of her personality affected
the outcome of her story. When looking at Medea s Id, Ego, and Super ego, one can see how they
influenced the defense mechanisms and drew in possible traumatic childhood events from her
youth that could help to comprehend the actions she carried out. The analyses of Medea s
background and decision making factors are not a

The Green Party
Bernie Sanders fever is sweeping the across the country. After a credible showing in Iowa, he is
well placed to win New Hampshire. The most astonishing thing about this is that he has
managed to turn socialism from a taboo in American politics into a norm. His run and
prominence has led to 43 percent of Iowa caucus voters to self identifying as socialist (Scher
2016). The problem is that actual socialists are in some cases rooting against Senator Sanders.
His candidacy has led to a split amongst socialists, with some feeling that he is a bona fide
socialist while others feel is a socialist in name only (Scher 2016). As a whole, the parties that
would be considered socialist do not place well in elections. The Green Party, which is probably
the most well known party with socialist aims, had 469,627 votes in the 2012 election according
to the FEC. While not massive, it still dwarfs the totals of parties with the word socialist in their
name. Combined, they received a whopping 86,528 votes in 2012 (FEC). Many feel that Sanders
has sold out , by pledging to support billionaire backed Hilary Clinton should she win (Scher
2016). Many within the far left feel that Sanders campaign is pulling votes and interest away from
true socialist parties and policies, and could weaken the platform overall. Most socialist parties
prefer to stay united behind one candidate, in this case the Green s Dr. Jill Stein, and get on the
ballot consistently rather than be split with Sanders

Evolution Of Horses Essay
Horses have been around for 55 million years, they are amazing creatures and have evolved from
small dog typed horses to giant and small horses that come in many different colors and breeds.
The modern horses are different from the the horses that lived 55 million years ago. Horses
today have 1 toe or hoof, come in more colors, they are much bigger but can also be small.
Certain breeds have more of a wild linage while others are foundation horses. Foundation
horses;these horses come from the original breed. they are the TRUE breed of that horse, for
example the Appaloosa horse could be 90% foundation bred, 5% foundation bred, or maybe even
100% foundation bred! depending on how much the are foundation bred will be on how true of the
breed they are.

Haldane s Daedalus Or Science In The Future
There are currently no concrete, internationally accepted rules regarding the ethics of gene editing,
because it is such a new discipline, and so both the scientific community and the general public are
concerned about the possibility for abuse of the technology. Dr. Gene Elliott, in the Laboratory
News article Ethics of genetics: More than just designer babies, discusses the controversy
surrounding the ability to manipulate DNAand cells for either benefit or harm. She also addresses
the possibility for exploitation, victimisation or discrimination based on an adult human s fully
sequenced genome, and the psychological stress associated with the knowledge of one s own
potential death sentence written in mutations and oncogenes. Through Elliott acknowledges that
geneediting provides the incredible opportunity to fight AIDS and certain cancers and genomic

and development of human embryos without a living woman) is the favored method of
procreation in order to combat the greater fertility of the less desirable members of the

eugenics and the sterilization of undesirable populations in order to foster the growth of a master

  • 2. Essay on Atlantis Intrigues a Teen Plato much believed that the civilization of Atlantis existed (Writer873). The origins of Atlantis are written in Plato s Critias and Timaeus (Plato). Written around 350s B.C., the main character Solon, travels to Egypt and learns of Atlantis by priests (Writer873). He claimed his dialogues to be true records (Atlantis Subplots). Timaeus explains Atlantis was the island situated in front of the straits, which are by you called Pillars of Herakles; the island was larger than Libya and Asia put together (Plato). It goes on further Atlantis was a great wonderful empire which had rule over the whole island (Plato). Through short explanations Timaeus ends Atlantis defeated and triumphed over the invaders, but afterwards there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The secrets, including the culture, of Atlantis are fascinating in the way Plato illustrates the city. Atlanteans were far more advanced than any civilization during their time, not to be mistaken with Atlanteans being more advanced than any civilization during our time. Atlantis culture is explained in Critias by a great amount within it s pages and it is extraordinary how the people behaved so civil and orderly back then. The first thing the reader will learn in reading Critias is Atlantis is ancient, ancient as in 9000 years (Plato). It s no wonder Atlanteans became far more advanced than Athenians and other neighboring ancient cities. The empire had time to form a stable society and conduct new ways to make life easier. The other detail in Critias is Athens was in command one side and fought through the whole war, and in command of the other side were the kings of the island of Atlantis (Plato). Showing the two cities weren t on the good terms before the fall of Atlantis. The article Atlantean Culture writes about the belief the people of Atlantis were dominantly a race of reddish in color, average height, and slightly egg shape heads and sloped forehead. Egerton Sykes (1894 1983), was not only the creator of the largest private collection on Atlantis in the world, he prided himself on knowing every scientist around the world in the field of ... • 3. The Civil War And Reconstruction Periods The Unfinished Revolution The Civil War and Reconstruction periods had many positive outcomes for America, such as the reunification of the Union, the expansion of the North and South s economy, education for all, and much more. Although there were many positive results from these two periods, there was also an aftermath of much failure. The post Civil War, and Reconstruction period consisted of the formation of the Ku Klux Klan and the black code laws. Despite the fact that African American s were no longer slaves, in many ways they were still not free. Furthermore, the creation of things such as the Ku Klux Klan and the black codes created high tension between the black and white races, a tension that can be argued is still present in modern day America. This essay will examine the aspects of how the post Civil War and Reconstruction period was a failure with regards to social, economic and political, and radical development for newly freed slaves. Social Development Once African American s were freed they faced many social obstacles. Blacks wanted to immediately be given the same treatment to whites in the workforce, such as have one day off per week so they could have more free time with their families. Blacks had more than the right to request time off, but some whites in American thought that this request was unreasonable, mostly because white people now lacked the ability to exploit black labor (Ransom221). After slavery ended the South was in short supply for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Disrupt Think The Unthinkable However, this amalgamation of ideas did not come without its difficulties. A physicist named William Shockley and his companions came up with a breakthrough invention of the transistors which greatly changed the direction of technology. He then moved to the Valley where he employed the bright minds from Stanford and set a company in the industrial park. He made his employees take psychological tests to determine if they work together, before employing them. However, he failed to assume the role of a leader and in the end lost the trust and respect of his colleagues and employees (Simthsonian). In our assigned text book for this semester, Chapter 17 of Disrupt think the unthinkable discusses the traits of a disruptive leader. Williams failed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, William Shockley who was born in England, invented the transistor. Like a chain reaction more innovators and companies were attracted to the Valley. From the famous garage, they created the Homebrew Computer Club where they started working towards their goal of creating a personal computer (historychannnel). Hobbyist and bright minds would share and trade technologies. We have recently formed seven groups in which some ideas interlock or can cooperate and help each other s ideas grow. It is possible to business ventures to share information that benefit every participant and the Silicon Valley serves as an example. There were many other places where people tried to create computers but they were not as successful as the Valley. Besides being willing to attract brilliant minds and sharing information the leaders of the Valley were also not afraid to fail. They would try out very idea see where it failed and try once more. I hope to incorporate this trait in our group project. Homebrew eventually lead to the creation of Hewlett Packard and Steve Job s Apple computers. The most important factor towards the creation of a personal computer was the environment. Terman might have foreseen that setting an industrial park would take businesses closer to Stanford university forming a symbiotic relationship between the university and tech companies. Having leaders like Terman who encouraged working together and sharing of ideas was also vital. Lastly willingness to take risks and work on the kinks if they were errors to correct. Some say that Apple rose to the top under Steve Jobs, by taking risks and by correcting mistakes made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The concept of seamless editing was used because it was one of the first films to use more than one scene. This was the first narrative film that audiences could see going somewhere and was very successful amongst different audiences. This film became so successful because alongside using traditional editing techniques; it included new techniques such as Parallel Editing, Minor Camera Movement and Crosscutting. Later editing was also made to add color to the movies through the process of colorization. Also specific techniques like flashbacks, close up and parallel actions were given in the movies to arouse specific reaction from the audience (Poland, 2007). Theories of editing Soviet montage theory is an approach to understand and create cinema that relies heavily upon editing. This was based on the concept of montage which was idea that arises from the collision of independent shots wherein each sequential element is perceived not next to the other, but on top of the other. At the youngest ages, of course, parents have the dominant influence over this process. But as children age, their socialization continues under a variety of influences, including their own personalities and their interactions with siblings, peers, schools, and the wider culture. In adult life, socialization more often occurs in the other institutional arenas (page 167 168). In the movie Frozen from 2013, there are three main characters. She has transformed into a happy, confident young woman, finally free to be her true self. Brian Eno s Furniture Music This traditional Eastern idea of living in harmony with nature contrasts sharply with the Western practice of control and manipulation of the environment, The earliest precursor I can think of for Eno s concept is Furniture Music, or Musique d ameublement, by Erik Satie and Darius Milhaud, premiered in 1917. This is the first piece in history expressly designed not to be listened to. Apparently, Satie ran around among the audience at the first performance crying don t listen, don t listen , a difficult instruction to follow as the piece is quite interesting, and it is hard to ignore music being played right in front of you Satie s gesture fell flat, because the time wasn t yet ripe for it. • 32. Social Effects Of European Exploration Of The New World European exploration of the New World led to many social effects. To start with, the Europeans brought with them many germs and diseases that decimated many societies in the Americas. The diseases, such as the smallpox, led to the deaths of many indigenous people and the demographic collapse of many Native American societies. The Europeans also brought plants and animals over to the Americas. The plants that were grown reflected a distinct European diet and the horses in the North American West were used frequently for hunting as farmers began to abandon their fields. Women were no longer viewed as responsible for producing food as hunting became more popular with men. Another social effect was how marriages between Spanish men and elite native women were greatly supported in Amerindian societies. Native women who were married to Spanish men lived a better life than ordinary native women. On the other hand, indigenous women who were below the elite were frequently mistreated and abused by European men. Since there were very few Spanish women, Spanish men and Indian women came together to produce mixed race children known as Mestizo. Many Indian women agreed to have children with Spanish men to ensure that they and their children would not have to be subjected to abuse. As the Spanish took control over the Aztec and Inca empires, a social order based on race came into existence. The Spanish male settlers were placed at the top, followed by the mixed race population, and at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Carl Jung; Theories of Personality Final Paper Jung Theories of Personality In this paper I will show some of Jung s back ground, his theory, and speak of his contribution to the world of psychology. His contribution was a great one, and it was said that many of his theories were more complicated than many of the other psychologists of his time. As I read about him, I began to appreciate his passion for this subject. There were a few reasons that I chose him. First, I think it s amazing his contribution to figuring out, personality types. Second, I find it interesting that he was spiritual, and incorporated some of that spirituality to his theories. He was one of the theorists that took an approach to the ... Personality Psychology helps an individual to define their human nature, and how that nature is different from other people, but in various similar situations. For example, based on Jung s theory of personality, an introvert may be shy, compared to an extrovert, when placed in a social setting. Personality Psychology also might help a person to have a strong sense of oneself, may assist them in understanding why they cope certain ways, or react to particular things that happen. A therapist knowing this psychology can also shed light to their clients when helping them to cope with life. According to Jung s theory, we all have some introversion, and some extroversion, but are primarily one or the other. This is where people are similar. Human beings are like each other because of our ability to have set backs, fears, failure, and have emotions that come from within, when we experience hardship in life. Whether we react in an introverted way (inward thought), versus extroverted (outward thought), is imperative and shows our similarity as well. That we must all go through some form of process mentally, as a coping mechanism, when things happen to us, or around us. Jung s theory on the Persona, anima, animus, shadow, and the self(Ashford, 2011), can differentiate us as human beings. Upon reading about the Shadow, it reminded me of the darker side of us. A leader has to be able to understand and support their men, have initiative, be quick on their feet, and accept responsibility for their actions. The personal traits that I look for in a leader are courage, commitment, candor, competence, and integrity. Out of these the most important one to me, is integrity. • 35. Change Management At The Workplace CHANGE MANAGEMENT IN THE WORKPLACE THOMAS M. GILL WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY Change management in the working setting is constant for all Managers and leaders alike. To stay applicable and competitive businesses, managers, and supervisors should as often as possible reclassify their technique for working, item/benefit offerings and the impact this may have on your team, or shareholders. (Holmes, 2013) for instance when we lead change (vast or minute) see to it that these four fundamentals are on your agenda of things to do; make a feeling of earnestness, make a reasonable tomorrow, get people consideration and get people involved at the right level, have clear actions or expectations and desires. Nevertheless, managing change in the workplace shapes a feeling of uneasiness for a great many people, any change is uncomfortable. Therefore, while we oversee changes in the work environment, it is our obligation to help people in understanding that whatever they have done truly should now change. Therefore, Managers and leaders must work to jump start interest of purpose to get individuals excited to work out of their usual range of familiarity and grasp the change. (Holmes, 2013) Let shareholders know why the old way is no more viable, by disclosure persuading and genuine proof that individuals can feel, see, and touch that change must happen. I was talking to a friend the other day about the whole dating aspect of BYU Idaho as well as just in the Mormon community. Now my friend grew up outside of the church and so she has seen both the Mormon culture of dating as well as the way that the world does it. Now she pointed out to me something that I never really thought of before. She told me that it almost seems like we are so focused on the aspect of dating and getting married because in our culture that is something that we strongly believe in because of the covenants that we make with marriage. She said that we are in a sense having these arranged type of marriages, in the sense that everyone around us is telling us to date this person or that person or get married because it is a commandment and we are making these decisions not because we truly love this person or we even truly believe that we want to get married, or even fully understand the promises we will be making to that person and also to God. We aren t fully making this decision because we truly believe that it is a good choice but because others around us think so and to me that does seem a little bit like an arranged marriage. I m not totally knocking arranged marriages because there are a lot of people out there who make them work, even more than people who choose the person that they marry. Moreover, plants exhibit a remarkable diversity of supposedly defensive characteristics including trichomes, spines, silica, secondary chemical compounds, temporal avoidance of enemies, and structures along with chemicals that attract predators of their natural enemies. In addition, the exploitation of the plants and their defences is facilitated by a vast number of behavioural, morphological and physiological adaptations by herbivores Accounting for this diversity has been a major area of research for nearly a century. The seminal article, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What happened in the past might be a different picture to what we have envisaged so far. Thompson (1999) has proposed that there are crucial components to coevolution. These need to be recognised before we can fully understand coevolution. Firstly, phylogenetic studies are providing five kinds of data important in interpreting the historical context of coevolving interactions. 1) Shared traits. Phylogenetic studies are allowing us to evaluate which traits of interacting species were already present in the hosts ancestors. This allows us to determine whether traits are coevolved or merely a trait exhibited as a consequence of the organisms genotype. For example, Yucca plants provide a source of food for host specific Yucca moths, with which they are believed to have coevolved. Examining the phylogenetic trees of these moths elucidated this. Most moths in this family (Prodoxidae) exhibited host specificity (Davis et al 1992). Before this technology, people would have assumed the specificity of the Yucca moth to be a product of the coevolution. This brings up a useful comment by Vermeij (1994). Almost all inferences about coevolution are derived from the existence of trends in the expression of traits that function during interactions between species. Evolutionary trends have often been found by analysing ancestor dependant relationships within monophyletic groups, or clades. Although many trends are best sought this way, others cannot in principle be detected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Pros And Cons Of Liberal Democracy Since the dawn of human civilization, individuals have been constantly immersed in conflict with each other. Whether these conflicts stemmed from socio economic inequalities, political disputes, property rights, religious disagreements, or any other contentious matter, the creation of human governments has necessarily been to handle, organize, and resolve conflicts between people within communities in the least destructive manner possible. Governments act as a formal instrument through which individuals in a society can agree upon shared rules, solve problems, and engage in cooperative behavior, and it helps avoid the severe repercussions resulting from revolutionary social upheaval. The purpose of governmentas spelled out in the Preamble of the Constitution is to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. While countless forms of government have sprung up over the centuries, only one has been resilient enough and has had the pervasive influence necessary to stand the test of time: democracy. While there are many different types of democracies, this paper will focus on liberal democracy specifically. The Romantic Era consisted of composers taking a more unique and expressive style of music. Hector Berlioz, Fryderyck Chopin, and Robert Schumann are considered to be the most influential composers of the Romantic Era. Nationalism and Exoticism played a very big part of musicexpression during this period. Both, Art song and German Lieder music styles were invented and told stories in a musical form. These three composers helped shape this era through the use of the pianoand the use of a more supernatural realm style of music. Hector Berlioz was born in the year 1803 in France. At the age of twenty two he left his career to pursue his musical career. He went on to composing his first symphony at the age of twenty seven. Hector was highly criticized in his homeland France for his music. It was very painful for hector to be rejected from the musical community and deemed as a laughing stock. Money is going to be a huge problem in our society because it is always the cause of bigger problems. In The Rocking Horse by D.H. First of all, the greed of the mother is so overpowering that she doesn t even show affection or love toward her kids so they fight for her love and hope that one day they would receive it. She had bonny children, yet she felt they had been thrusted upon her, and she could not love them. They looked at her coldly, as if they were finding fault with her. (1247) The children look to their mother to hope for love and all that they seem to get in return is hate. She feels as if her children are some kind of burden that was thrusted upon her as punishment for something. She says that her husband has bad luck , but she may just be blaming it upon him so that she isn t forced to be labelled as it. Second of all, the uncle is so amazed by the fact that the boy is talented enough to become lucky when it comes to the amazing horse races. The uncle was delighted to find that his small nephew was posted with all the racing news. (1250) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead of serving his people he suppresses them and engages in immoral behaviors fit for a king. The behaviors result in a backlash from his citizens and the nobles began to complain bitterly about these behaviors. Newsreels During The Second World War Newsreels, five minute recordings depicting around four stories kept on a reel, were widely produced across Western countries between approximately 1910 and 1967 (Boyer, 2015). Some women in love may say the same, the infamous Medea included. Medea was a married woman and a mother of two who was left alone and heartbroken; because of this, she sought revenge after her husband left her for a woman of higher status. As she acted impulsively and irrationally, she executed a murderous plan, one that left her old lover with the funeral plans of both his new princess and their children. At first glance, one might say that she was heartless, evil, and spiteful; however, by taking into account the motivation behind her actions, one can quickly change their perspective to understand her reasoning. One way to understand someone better is to look into their personality and how it was developed. Sigmund Freuddeveloped the concept that one s personality is classified into three main structures in the mind that are constantly fighting each other until one area dominates. The most astonishing thing about this is that he has managed to turn socialism from a taboo in American politics into a norm. The problem is that actual socialists are in some cases rooting against Senator Sanders. His candidacy has led to a split amongst socialists, with some feeling that he is a bona fide socialist while others feel is a socialist in name only (Scher 2016). As a whole, the parties that would be considered socialist do not place well in elections. The Green Party, which is probably the most well known party with socialist aims, had 469,627 votes in the 2012 election according to the FEC. While not massive, it still dwarfs the totals of parties with the word socialist in their name. Combined, they received a whopping 86,528 votes in 2012 (FEC). Many feel that Sanders has sold out , by pledging to support billionaire backed Hilary Clinton should she win (Scher 2016). Many within the far left feel that Sanders campaign is pulling votes and interest away from true socialist parties and policies, and could weaken the platform overall. Most socialist parties prefer to stay united behind one candidate, in this case the Green s Dr. Jill Stein, and get on the ballot consistently rather than be split with Sanders ... • 53. Haldane s Daedalus Or Science In The Future There are currently no concrete, internationally accepted rules regarding the ethics of gene editing, because it is such a new discipline, and so both the scientific community and the general public are concerned about the possibility for abuse of the technology. Dr. Gene Elliott, in the Laboratory News article Ethics of genetics: More than just designer babies, discusses the controversy surrounding the ability to manipulate DNAand cells for either benefit or harm. She also addresses the possibility for exploitation, victimisation or discrimination based on an adult human s fully sequenced genome, and the psychological stress associated with the knowledge of one s own potential death sentence written in mutations and oncogenes. Through Elliott acknowledges that geneediting provides the incredible opportunity to fight AIDS and certain cancers and genomic sequencing has the ability to prevent tragedy by helping individuals learn about their health options, she emphasizes... In it, Haldane imagines a future where eugenics are utilized to rid the majority of the world of syphilis, insanity, and the like and ectogenesis (the fertilization and development of human embryos without a living woman) is the favored method of procreation in order to combat the greater fertility of the less desirable members of the population. Because of the inseparable nature of genetic engineering with the concept of eugenics and the sterilization of undesirable populations in order to foster the growth of a master race, it is very easy to find speculative fiction from HG Wells s 1896 novel The Island of Doctor Moreau to the 1997 cult classic film Gattaca on the dangers of a genetics obsessed ...
