Compare And Contrast The Four Contemporary Management...
There are four known contemporary management approaches that include: sociotechnical theory,
organizational behavior, quantitative management and systems theory. These management
approaches are essential in analyzing the different organizational environments, including internal,
macro and competitive environments. This paper will look at the different contemporary
managementapproaches, define open systems and describe the internal, macro and competitive
organizational environments. It will also indicate whether or not the four contemporary approaches
to management are relevant in the above stated environments.
Sociotechnical is the first contemporary management approach. It is thought that success in each
and every organization comes when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this approach, how the manager treats employees signifies the expected behavior of the
employees. Hence, if he sees them as ineffective, then they will be ineffective (Gupta, 2009).
There is also the systems theory approach to contemporary management. This approach focuses on
the relationship that exists between the organization and the general public. It defines an
organization as a system that is either closed or open, but in most cases open. In that regard, an
open system is defined as an organizational interaction with its own environment by way of inputs
and its outputs. Therefore, it can be said that the environment impacts on the organization while the
organization also has an impact on the environment.
There are three environments that are essential to the organization and they are: the internal, macro
and the competitive environments. These environments together with the open systems are vital
parts of an organization that should be considered in the determining the approach to adopt
(Wetherly Otter, 2014). The internal environment can be described as all the forces that are within
the organization that impacts on the organization. The internal environment incorporates all the
managers, workers and the resources that the organization has to assist in the daily operations. The

kill Fernando it also put fear in the minds of New Zealanders because it was the first ever act of
terrorism in the country. This report will describe what was happening leading up to the event with
the nuclear free legislation starting to take effect in New Zealand at the time and also the cold war
was starting to heat up again. It will also describe what the Rainbow Warrior was used for before
the sinking of it when it was with Greenpeace and when it was with UK ministry of Agriculture,

1960s Discoveries And Technology Essay
Discoveries, Inventions, and Technology
The 1960s was a decade where many Americas found a new life and way of living, it was the
time of the hippies, peace and love. It was also a time where many scientific and medical
discoveries where made, these discoveries have improved our everyday lives up to the date. During
the sixties technology advanced with satellites, video games, the Internet etc. and with these
advances they have changed our life style. Without the advance of the internet imagine how we
would be today, nowadays we use the internet for everything we do.
Some of the first discoveries during 1960s was the first ever successful kidney transplant between
non siblings performed in the state of California. This was a major advancement in history because
no there can be kidney transplant donors, which mean more lives are saved. In 1964, a electrical
simulation was presented to demonstrate a auditory nerve in deaf patients, paving the way for
cochlear implants. Thanks to this invention deaf patients can now get a treatment, unlike hearing
aids which make sounds only louder, cochlear implants replaces the function of the damaged inner
ear. In that same year the first sleep apnea monitor for newborn infants was developed, now parents

Nursing Safe Profession
Is Nursing a Safe Profession? Nurses are more prone to acquire disease, because of coming in
direct contact with the patients. They are exposed to various kinds of disease from their
patients. The disease could be Blood Borne, Air Borne or from Contact. According to National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, 44% of nurses are exposed to Blood and other
bodily secretions from the patients. There are chances of nurses getting these diseases by coming
in contact with blood or bodily secretions except sweat of the patients for example an accidental
needle stick or if the nurse has open skin and the infected blood or bodily secretion from the
patient comes in direct contact with that open skin or it comes in direct contact with the nurses
eyes. Another kind of disease exposure are Air Borne disease like T.B. (Tuberculosis), influenza,
etc. These pathogens are spread through air; by coughing or sneezing of the infected person. These
pathogens travels a long distance in the air and the nurses taking... Show more content on

These kind of pathogens spreads through contact. By contact means it could be a direct or indirect
contact. Direct contact means by touching the patient directly, and indirect contact means by
coming in contact with the furniture in the patients room. However precautions are taken by the
administration to prevent the spread and exposure of these pathogens. Sometimes it s too late to
put them in place. Like a patient is admitted into the hospital in an emergency and primary care is
being started, and once the patient s condition stabilizes other tests for the above mentioned
suspected diseases are carried out, and the test turns out positive. By this time the nurses are already
been exposed to some of these diseases which requires more than the standard precautions being

Comparing Araby And Nino Ricci s Going To The Moon
A child s imagination is inevitably corrupted by a societal crudity that alters their perception of
the world. This is evident in James Joyce s Araby and Nino Ricci s Going to the Moon , as the
protagonists desire a change from a routined lifestyle which leads to a failed journey and
essentially, experience an archetypal loss of innocence. The simplicity of their upbringing impacts
their view of individuals and establishes a destitute of vision towards the truth. Likewise, cultural
barriers elicit foreign emotions that obscure a sense of reality. Lastly, the occurrence of tragic
events stimulates disappointment and ensues a failed quest. In essence, a child s personal judgment
is disfigured by their surroundings.

The narrator uses his teachers educational techniques to compose an altered fantasy of reality in his
mind. Only at school does the young boy appear at ease where he says, Miss. Johnson would ask
us again to move our desks into tight little rows at the sides of the classroom, and we would
know that we were going to the moon (Ricci 4). Children endlessly imagine adventures that
convey their ambitions and hopes for the future. The protagonist aspires to find a common
ground in his community that allows him to happy. His classroom is the only space where he
feels happy. Outside of the school, he sees the reality of how harsh it is; the idea in maturation
where life is not always happy, so you must cherish those moments and learn to express yourself
in all situations .The consistency of his lifestyle constructs an awareness that change will not
occur. After the funeral procession, a melancholic narrator reveals, All my life, it seemed
suddenly, was merely a waiting for the fulfillment of that promise, for a redemption from the
narrowness and meanness of the world I came from; but it seemed possible finally that nothing
would change (6). As one grows up, the realization of lifes difficulties is evident. Life is not
always easy and to aim for change, you must be willing to move out of your comfort
zone(classroom) and approach the problem from a new angle. To prosper as an individual, the
challenges of diminishing hope reflect the _______ to mentally stabilize themselves in order to
understand and fix any issues; maturation establishes morals and values and their role in how you

The Importance Of Self-Assessment In Mathematics
The results of this study have important implications for teachers. They suggest the need for
mathematics teachers to provide middle school students with relevant self assessment skills
effective for mathematics learning. The results also suggest that both low and average achievers
can benefit from the self assessment instruction and as such both achievers can explore the skills in
self assessment to enhance their mathematics achievement. Teachers of mathematics should
therefore be equipped with self assessment approach in teaching low and average mathematics
achieving students. This will help the students who have difficulties in some areas of mathematics
to acquire the necessary skills needed for successful learning of mathematics. Although self
assessment increased mathematics achievement of low and average mathematics achievers, self
assessment had no effect on mathematics achievement of high achievers. This result indicates the
need for more evidence on the effect of self assessment on mathematics achievement of high
achievers and conditions lead to positive effects. Second, the present research confirms that students
subsequent learning goals to correct misunderstandings and to extend learning is important to
students success in math. This suggest that mathematics teachers need to give students frequent
opportunities to set personal goals based on their difficulties. However, it is not enough that the
teacher asks students to set goals, but there should be a follow

Insulin In The Pancreas
When a person s body becomes immune to insulin or when the pancreas stops making insulin that s
when it progresses. No one really knows the cause, but genetics and environmental factors, such as
excess weight and inactivity, appear to provide a part in it. Insulin is a hormone that comes from
the pancreas.18 When the pancreas produces insulinit goes into bloodstream. So when insulin
moves around it lets sugar go into the cells. Then insulin lowers the quantity of sugar into the
bloodstream. When the blood sugarlevel trickles so does the production of insulin in the pancreas.18
Now glucose is the primary source of energy for the cells that form the muscles and other
tissues.18 Glucose comes from the food you eat and your liver. With the assistance of insulin
glucose is drawn into the bloodstream. Fact: the liver stores and makes glucose so when the

the body s response to insulin can reduce the cause of type two diabetes. Scientists believe that
beta cell dysfunction is the main cause for type two diabetes. This dysfunction can cause
insufficient or unusual patterns of insulin release. Although scientists have not found the cause of
this beta cell dysfunction which causes type two diabetes, in most cases.19 This goes back to
genetic inheritance in which the genes involved control the creation of the beta cells. One cause
under investigation of beta cell dysfunction is having a poor diet early in the person s life which
causes type two

An Era Of Advancements, 1945-1970
An Era of Advancements Jackie Robinson once said Life is not a spectator sport. . . . If you re
going to spend your whole life in the grandstand just watching what goes on, in my opinion you re
wasting your life. Robinson was always looking to advance not only in baseball, but in life as well.
During the years 1945 1970, Americans experienced prosperity, advancements, and controversy. For
example, the assassination of John F. Kennedy caused Americans to question the honesty of the
government. In addition, Americans also faced massive Civil Rights movements and anti war
protests that divided the country. Some other events/people that affected this era were Martin
Luther King Jr., the Space Race, and the wars in Vietnam and Korea ( Prosperity... Show more

Project MKUltra, sometimes referred to as Project Monarch, is a program of many different

1950 s and lasted around 20 years. The CIA experimented on countless unsuspecting American
Citizens that were exposed to drugs, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, abuse and torture. Subjects
that were least likely to put up a fight were picked for the operation. Popular places and subjects
were nursing homes, prisons, mental hospitals, homeless people, and drug addicts. Over 44
different universities were involved in the operation. Doctor Sidney Gottlieb was chosen to lead
the program when it officially began in 1953. The US started mind control experiments, torture,
and brainwashing programs after reports that the Chinese and North Koreans were testing
techniques on prisoners of war in WWII. The CIA was authorized to commit 6% of of their entire

In the absence of economic disruptions, investors who risk their money for longer periods expect
to get a bigger reward in the form of higher interest than those who risk their money for shorter time
periods. Thus, as maturities lengthen, interest rates get progressively higher and the curve goes up.
December 1984, marked the middle of the longest postwar expansion. As the GDP chart above
shows, growth rates were in a steady quarterly range of 2% to 5%. The Russell 3000 (the broadest
market index), meanwhile, posted strong gains for the next two years. This kind of curve is most
closely associated with the middle, salad days of an economic and stock market expansion. When

Corporate Social Responsibilities
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The term social responsibility means different things to different people. Generally, corporate
social responsibility is the obligation to take action that protects and improves the welfare of
society as whole as well as organizational interests. According to the concept of corporate social
responsibility, a manager must strive to achieve both organizational and societal goals.
Current perspectives regarding the fundamentals of social responsibility of businesses are listed and
discussed through (1) the Davis model of corporate social responsibility, (2) areas of corporate

Federal law requires that businesses perform certain socially responsible activities. In fact, several
government agencies have been established and are maintained to develop such business related
legislation and to make sure the laws are followed. The Environmental Protection Agency does
indeed have the authority to require businesses to adhere to certain socially responsible
environmental standards. Adherence to legislated social responsibilities represents the minimum
standard of social responsibility performance that business leaders must achieve. Managers must
ask themselves, however, how far beyond the minimum they should attempt to go a difficult and
complicated question that entails assessing the positive and negative outcomes of performing
socially responsible activities. Only those activities that contribute to the business s success while
contributing to the welfare of society should be undertaken.

Boys Behavior In Lord Of The Flies Research Paper
The behavior of the boys prior to the storm coming was calm as the boys were on the beach, and
Jack was feeding both Ralph and Piggy and there was only a thunderous brass. (pg. 149)
However, Jack begins an argument with Ralph and says that the conch doesn t count at this end
of the island. Shortly after Jack says this, all at once, the thunder stuck. Instead of the dull boom,
there was a point of impact in the explosion. (pg. 150) The description of the storm quickly
changed as it is now being described as more intense as before, since the word explosion is used
to describe the thunder instead of dull boom. Since the description of the storm began to escalate
directly after Jack began to challenge Ralph and the rule of the conch therefore becoming chaotic,
and defying order the correlation of the intensity of the storm and the boys behavior is made clear.
Then, the storm begins to bring thunder [that was] only just bearable and [a] flickering bright light

Speech Understanding Software
In the past computers were completely impractical and never thought to be used for personal

What Does It Mean To Be A Feminism Essay
The F Word
What does it mean to be a feminist. The meaning has taken many twists and turns throughout the
various decades it s been through. Society has transposed, humiliated and belittled the true purpose
of the word Feminism. Often, when we hear the word feminist, most people associate it with the
stereotypical image of an angry protester running in her bra down the streets. Or perhaps the image
of an Ugly philosopher who is angry for not receiving male attention. Feminism still exists because
women still do not have equal rights to men, in New Zealand or globally. I would like to re
establish the rightful definition of Feminism.
When a vote was released in the united states regarding gender equality among women, 41%
voted yes and 59% voted no. However, the backlash of this vote stated that it was Unfair and

William Shakespeare s Macbeth
What makes us who we are? Well, this is a broad question, but a lot of different factors impact us
on a way we might not understand until the time is right. The motivation and goals we set for
ourselves, who we surround ourselves with whether we have a choice or not, learning from
mistakes and making our own and how regrets and guilt play a role, and difficult situations that
we are born into or get ourselves into and how our race and gender has an effect on our lives. All
of these components are displayed in these four works and connect to one another.

POWER AND POLITICS IN THE FALL AND RISE OF JOHN LASSETER
John Lasseter grew up in a family heavily involved in artistic expression. Lasseter was drawn to
cartoons as a youngster. Then as a freshman in high school he read a book entitled The Art of
Animation. The book, about the making of the Disney animated film Sleeping Beauty, proved to be
a revelation for Lasseter. He discovered that people could earn a living by developing cartoons.
Lasseter started writing letters to The Walt Disney Company Studios regarding his interest in
creating cartoons. Studio representatives, who corresponded with Lasseter many times, told him to
get a great art education, after which they would teach him animation.

Former Disney Studios head, Peter Schneider, says Lasseter is a kid who has never grown up and

Who Is Bilbo Greed
Luck is an unexplainable thing, but luck is sometimes just a part of destiny. In J.R.R. Tolkien s
fantasy novel The Hobbit, the main character, Bilbo, accompanied thirteen dwarves on an
journey to retrieve treasure stolen from them by the terrible dragon, Smaug. Over the course of
the adventure, Bilbo triumphed over many challenges that became intertwined with his destiny.
Bilbo is very lucky, but his adventures and escapes were not managed by mere luck; for he is a
piece of something greater. Bilbo s highly unlikely rescues and the acquiring of a magical ring are
all a part of Bilbo s destiny. For instance, Bilbo found a magic ring that belonged to Gollum, an
antagonist in the story. The ring was lying next to him when he woke up, and when he felt it, he
put the ring in his pocket almost without thinking; certainly it did not seem of any particular use at
the moment. The possibility of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Single handedly, standing now in the middle of the hunting and spinning insects Bilbo plucked
up his courage and began a new song to distract the spiders, and it worked! Moreover, when the
dwarves were captured by an elven king, Bilbo stuffed the dwarves into barrels that ...were tubs
neatly packed with a dwarf each; but down they all went into the sea ...one after another. The
escape was absolutely perilous, but was also nevertheless triumphant. His rescues and luck had
to have been destiny, for they were all successful, and not to mention absurd. All in all, the
successes of Bilbo could not have been achieved by pure luck. The fact that Bilbo found a
magical ring, and that he saved the dwarves, each time with a plan crazier than the last, all show
that Bilbo s successes are his destiny. At the end of the book, Gandalf jokingly says to Bilbo that
even he could not have predicted Bilbo s role in the adventure, for Bilbo was only a small person in

Seeing how affective these projectiles could be, the police in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong
Kong eventually made a more sophisticated wooden bullet. By the 1970s, the British brought the
idea back to England, where they replaced wood with rubber. Eventually this idea trickled down
to many other countries including the United States. These rubber bullets can be shot from a
standard police handgun. The bullet has a metal shell casing but instead of a metal bullet it is
replaced by a black thick rubber projectile. In riots, the police will attempt to aim for any area
below the neck; when the bullet hits an object it flattens out in order to cause no permanent
damage. Rubber bullets travel up to 950 mph, and if hit by one of these rubber bullets a rioter
will experience an extreme stinging pain. Some people describe the pain as being hit with a
baseball bat (Norman). Although not intended to be deadly doctors warn, rubber bullets are
unsafe and should never be used by authorities to control riots . But when it comes down to
controlling hostile crowds, rubber bullets are the most effective and instant way to turn rioters
away. These are just a few non lethal weapons used by police in riots all across the United States.
Non lethal weapons come in a variety of devices that can be used to subdue rioters if needed.

The Slowdown Of Global Warming
The Slowdown of Global Warming The recent decrease in the heating percentage of the Northern
Hemisphere could be a consequence of internal variability of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation a
natural phenomenon associated with ocean surface temperatures, according to Penn State
investigators. Some researchers have in the past attributed a portion of Northern Hemispheric
warming to a warm phase of the AMO, said Michael E. Mann, Distinguished Professor of
Meteorology. The true AMO signal, instead, appears likely to have been in a cooling phase in
recent decades, offsetting some of the anthropogenic warming temporarily. (Michael E. Mann, April

Because the scientists know the actual AMO signal for their artificial statistics from the start, they
could show that the differenced AMO accession allowed the right signal. They also approved the
detrended AMO accession and saw that it didn t come up with the known internal differentiality.
Michael and his partners also took a separate path in concluding the AMO, which they report online
in a special Frontier paper in Geophysical Research Letters. They contrast analyzation temperature
diversity with a number of historic model reproductions to make a copy for internal variability of
the AMO that depletes the impact of outer forcing, involving greenhouse gases and aerosols. They
call this the differenced AMO due to the internal variability comes from the difference between
analysis and the models estimates of the forced component of North Atlantic temperature variation.
They saw that their conclusions for the latest decade fall within expected multidecadal variability.
The detrended approach manufactured an AMO signal with a higher amplitude, both high and low
crests were greater than in the differenced AMO signal and in the artificial data. They also found
that the crests and troughs of the oscillation were misrepresented using the detrending accession,
making the maximums and minimums to form at separate times than in the differenced AMO
reactions. While the detrended AMO accessing makes a spurious temperature increase

Analysis Of Kanye West s Song All Falls Down

story of everything that he was going through at the time. Several individuals go to college
because it s a safe way to partake if you don t have anything planned after you have graduated
from high school. Great parents will tell their children to go to college because it would be a
backup plan if they didn t do anything else with their career. If plan A doesn t work, you always
have plan B to back you up right after. A lot of people will most likely assume they ll get a very

with jobs that have nothing to do with their careers because it would be so hard to find one with
their studies and some people just don t have a job right after. Nothing is promised after you
finished college unless you work your butt off. As he states in his lyrics That major that she

inherit his fortune (which belonged to their father before Creon). Both were killed. Because
Polyneices started the conflict, Creondecided that he was disgraced and ordered that he be given no

Act Summary: The undertaker at the local funeral parlor met Antigone when she arrived, trying to
organize a funeral for her disgraced brother. Knowing that Creon had notified every funeral parlor
in the area that Polyneices was to be denied a funeral, he brought Antigone to Creon s estate, where
the two get into an argument.

Have you really disobeyed me?
ANTIGONE [eyes downcast, avoiding her uncle]
Well, I see no point in denying it.
CREON [sighs]
Thank you for catching her, undertaker. You may leave now.

Functionalist Perspective On Divorce
Divorce is such a personal and common thing in America. There are so many couples who go
through the act of divorce every day. According to Kanewicher and Harris (2014), forty to fifty
percent of couples will end in divorce within the first few years of marriage. Divorce is the legal
dissolution of a marriageby a court or other competent body. There are many factors that may lead
couples into divorce. Some of those factors are, marrying too young, low education levels and
overall just lack of preparation (Kanewischer, 2015). Although divorce is common now, it was not
like this back in the late 1900 s. Divorce was not allowed and most of the time people did not want

In general, children from divorced families did have more behavioral problems than children from
non divorced families. They continue to struggle with the behaviors well into their adolescence
stage and into their adult stage (Weaver, 2015). It makes maintaining relationships and trusting
others difficult. There are three different theoretical perspectives. Functionalist perspective, which
emphasizes the way in which the parts of a society are structured to maintain its stability.
Functionalists see the contribution that it makes to society. The conflict perspective, assumes that
social behavior is best understood in terms of tension between groups over power or the
allocation of resources, and political representation. The interactionalist perspective, which
generalize about everyday forms of social interaction in order to explain society as a whole
(Schaefer). In the topic of divorce, it seems as if the functionalist perspective explains it well. Most
of the people get a divorce because they are unhappy within the marriage. If the couple continued to
be married it could cause more problems such as affairs, theft, depression, etc., therefore ruining the
society s stability. Both individuals would be happier and there would be fewer dysfunctional
families. Through the functionalist perspective, the idea of divorce is

Organ Transplant Essay
Organ Transplant
What is organ transplantation?
Organ transplantation is a surgical procedure that involves replacing a failed organ with a healthy
organ donated by another individual. Organ transplantation is often reserved as a last resort
therapeutic option in certain individuals with end stage organ disease. It is generally an option in
individuals that have a life expectancy of 10 or more years. Patients frequently have to undergo a
series of laboratory tests including screening for infectious diseases (eg, HIV, CMV, hepatitis B
and C, tuberculosis) and other conditions prior to being considered a transplant candidate.

Patients with end stage kidney disease are also often bridged to kidney transplantation. They
typically receive placement of a hemodialysis catheter or arteriovenous fistula in order to undergo
dialysis three times per week. Dialysis machines act like the kidneys by filtering blood and
balancing fluid and electrolyte levels.
Patients receiving lung transplantation often have respiratory failure and require continuous
oxygen therapy. Occasionally, these individuals need assisted ventilation with a breathing machine
(mechanical ventilation). Individuals with cirrhosis and end stage liver disease are normally
managed with medications to treat symptoms and complications of liver disease. They frequently
receive therapeutic paracentesis and occasionally require a TIPS procedure prior to liver
transplantation. Those with fulminant liver failure typically require urgent liver transplantation.
What laboratory tests are ordered in transplant recipients?
Commonly ordered blood tests in transplant recipients typically include a CMP (comprehensive
metabolic panel), CBC (complete blood cell count), and thyroid function studies (TSH, free T4). A
urine analysis, pregnancy test (in women of reproductive age), and urine drug screen are also
normally obtained. Urine is also normally sent for bacterial culture. Your doctor may order blood

Adapting Culture Shock By Noah Webster

English 202
07 December 2014 Adapting To Culture Shock
According to Noah Webster, Culture means the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits
of a racial, religious, or social group also the characteristic features of everyday existence shared
by people in a place or time. When people accustomed to a particular culture enter a foreign land
with different practice, they are bound to experience cultural shock. Culture shock is personal
incomprehension a person may feel or experience when in an unfamiliar culture or way of life as a
result of a visit to a new place or immigration. It is most prominent among immigrants. As Paul
Pederson has mentioned in his book, It is a process that an individual undergoes in experiencing a
new environment; it can be categorized into five stages, the honeymoon stage, the disintegration
stage, the reintegration stage, the autonomy stage and the interdependence stage. And according to
John J. Macionis and Linda Gerber, The common problems associated with it are language barrier,
generation gap, homesickness, information overload, boredom, technology gap and cultural
response ability among many others. Cultural differences affect individuals differently. Therefore,
there is no definite way of preventing culture shock. Jhumpa Lahiri in her work The Namesake very

Religion is an important aspect on studies of early mental health practice. Religion is important
to as many as 75% of the population, more profound and relevant with people over 65 years of age

The Pros And Cons Of Traditional Expatriation
3. Literature Review
3.1. How and why is this form of expatriation different from „traditional expatriation ?
Expatriation is a complicated and complex process which is influenced by a number of matters,
especially the qualification and fit in the subsidiary are mostly influenced by the expatriate him
/herself. However, how well an expatriate adjusts to the foreign environment is often also
influenced by how well his/her family, if they are coming with him/her, are able to adapt to the
new surroundings. In the following the terms traditional expatriation as well as dual career couple

even though the relocation would be favorable for one of the partners, if it is causing a net loss
which is of greater magnitude for the other partner foregoing the opportunity maximizes family
utility (Bielby and Bielby, 1992). As a result this model proposes that dual earning families migrate
less than families with a single earner (Mincer, 1978).
The second model is based on the social exchange theory (Emerson, 1976) and suggests similar
predictions. However, it differs from the one previously mentioned, as it introduces the concept of
power as the main tool through which decisions are made. Consequently, the partner with the
greater bargaining power (often determined through income) is likely to dictate the outcome of a
relocation decision (Hood, 1983).
Thirdly stands the gender role and provider role model. Hood (1983) claims that each partner
subscribes to regarding a certain deviation in respect of their roles in a family, which in
consequence affects the process of decision making. Undoubtedly, this model has experienced great
shifts during the last 20 years from a traditional male dominance as breadwinners to increasing

Day shows dedication throughout Legend many times, much like Boxer did in Animal Farm.
He shows dedication towards what he believes in as well as dedication to his family and friends
throughout the novel. The text says: I m in a huge room filled with rows of gurneys and
chemicals boiling under metal hoods. Doctors and soldiers look up at me with startled faces. I
grab the first person I see a young doctor standing close to the door. Before any of the soldiers
can point a gun in our direction, I whip out one of my knives and hold it close to the man s throat.

his old house and checking up on them and never travelling too far from home but Day does not
show this dedication to only keep his family safe, he shows it to Tess as well: Kaede looks
slowly around the circle, shaking her head or sometimes tilting it to one side. I keep my eyes on
Tess. She stands on her tiptoes behind several taller people, straining for a good look. Then she
taps them hesitantly on their shoulders, says something, and pushes her way forward. I tighten my
jaw at the sight. Next time I ll join her. Then she can sit on my shoulders and finally get to see the
fights, instead of calling unwanted attention to herself. A second later, I bolt upright. Tess has
pushed her way past one of the larger gamblers. He shouts something at her, something angry, and

Drones Vs Quadcopters
Drones versus U.S. Laws
Quadcopters or also known as aerial drones has quickly becoming one of the most popular trends
in video production or just as a recreational hobby. For videographers, quadcopters offers the
ability to take incredible shots that could take days of planning and higher cost with a helicopter
as done before drones. In response to the growing popularity, many people has concerns about the
ability to abuse this device for privacy violation, and terrorism. Over the past 2 years there has
been numerous news, articles, and blogs headlines expressing the unconformity of the US laws due
to the negative potential of civil flight drones. I consider there is sufficient laws and regulations to
completely cover the unacceptable use of aerial aircrafts like in the two of the amendments from the
Bill of Rights, aircraft guideline modernization and the Patriot Act. ... Show more content on

Technology and Communication Paper
Technology has affected all aspects of life and the criminal justice system is no exception. There
are so many ways where technology has been incorporated in the criminal justice and police
departments that I really do not know where to start. The invention of the lie detector test was huge
in my opinion. It can be given in the criminal justice system to try to get to the bottom of the truth.
In police departments you have the use of closed circuit televisions for property security, cameras in
police units, tape recorders used in police units and when conducting investigations and so forth.

In my opinion this is an excellent technological advancement that saves time and improves
accuracy. Facial recognition technology makes use of unalterable features of a face, such as the
distance between the centers of the pupils of the eye. It then uses an algorithm, a finite set of steps
for solving a problem, which converts the image to numbers . Weiss, Davis (2004)
Live scan is a fingerprint system that can be used in the criminal justice system and also for non
criminal justice use. Most law enforcement departments require all officers to be fingerprinted
using live scan technology. Once an officer is fingerprinted, his or her records are sent into
varies databases. The officers are required to be free of a criminal background so the prints are
checks for previous crimes. The prints are then sent to Sacramento (California) to various
departments for processing such as BSIC which is the Bureau of Security and Investigative
Services. Because live scan is inkless it saves paper and time because it s electronic which is better
for the environment and more convenient for law enforcement agencies. When a criminal is
arrested his or her fingerprints are taken with the live scan system and cross referenced for a match
in a number of systems including the FBI. If there is a match then the information is sent to the
police department which includes the suspect s weight, height, sex, and date of birth.

Chimpanzee Essay
Samantha Walls
Anthropology 101 Growth and Development of Chimpanzees Chimpanzees are great apes that are
the closest living relatives to humans (Larsen, 2014). These primates have been studied and
observed intently for decades, and there are many theories that explain why they are the way they
are. Chimpanzees learn the necessary skills of survival through social and cultural contexts and
pass these traits along to their offspring. In researching these smart and interesting primates I have
understood the social and cultural roles chimpanzees have that are necessary for survival. The

Whether in the wild or in captivity, chimpanzees will benefit from the behaviors of other
chimpanzees in a social learning environment (Hirata, 2009). Chimpanzees in the wild are known
for behaviors involving tool use such as nut cracking, ant dipping, termite fishing, pestle pounding
and many other techniques (Tonooka, Tomonaga Matsuzawa, 1997). The skills are seen to be
transferred culturally between communities and across many generations. An example of tool use
behavior was studied in West Africa, where chimpanzees are known to crack nuts using stone or
wooden tools. In Bossou, chimpanzees crack the nut Elaeis Guineensis which is an oil palm nut,
whereas in the Nimba mountains 10 km away from Bossou, chimpanzees would crack a doula nut
called Coula edulis. Matsuzawa and others experimented by giving the doula nut to the Bossou
chimpanzees, who had never seen or eaten this type of nut before. Besides one adult female, most
of the chimpanzees sniffed the nut, picked it up but did not eat it or try and crack the shell.
Through observational learning of the adult female that cracked the nut right away, two
chimpanzees learned to crack the new nut that was put in their environment. This proved the first
evidence of cultural transmission between communities and generations, where the adult
chimpanzee grew up in a community nearby that had the same tradition of doula

To convert future dollars to present dollars, net present value analysis inserts a number discount rate
.
Here are 4 basic steps for NPV analysis Forecast the benefits and costs in each year.
We need to forecast the benefits and costs in today s dollar include opportunity costs and use
expected value to estimate uncertain benefits and costs, omit the sunk costs, non monetary cost and
benefits. Determine a discount rate.
The discount rate is a nominal discount rate. We can use this formula to converse real to nominal.
(1+real discount rate)*(1+future CPI) 1=nominal discount rate
Future CPI = Future consumer price index Calculate the net present value.
∑net present value=∑((total benefits total costs))в
Ѓ„гЂ–(1+r)гЂ—^(length ) r = discount rate
Determine alternatives
After calculate the NPV, we are not only calculated monetary costs and benefits, we also need to
consider non monetary costs and benefits.
Life cycle Costing (LCC)
Life cycle costing is an economics tool to assess the total cost of a product. Another purpose for
this tool, as a management decision tool, for comparing different parts conflicts by concentration
on facts, money and time. By using Life cycle costing, total cost of the product can be calculated
over the total span of product life cycle. All parties on this project, such as product suppliers,
consumers and owners are benefit from LCC.

My Rotation For Obstetrics
My rotation for obstetrics was in Brighton, CO at Platte Valley Medical Center. I was fortunate
enough to experience multiple avenues of this field including labor and delivery and

Unit (NICU). While providing care to one specific child I was encouraged by my instructor to
help provide instruction to the parents in several different areas, but as I worked with mom and
dad to help take care of the baby I noticed some deficients in the knowledge of care for their child.

Ultimately, I noticed that the parents were having a hard time by not being able to hold their baby
and bond. NICU care can interfere with the process of bonding between the family and by not
allowing them to touch or hold there baby creates a rift in the interaction process (Tessier et al.,
2009). As time progressed while I was at clinical the baby was becoming more self sufficient and
the suggestion of kangaroo care came about when mom was trying to breastfeed as well as when
they had to supplement with bottle feedings. When the subject of kangaroo care was brought up
neither mom nor dad had heard of it before. During my time with the family I felt that they were at
risk for impaired parenting related to prolong separation from the parent as evidence by long
amounts of time with no physical contact with the baby. It was clear that both mom and dad were
emotionally stressed by not being able to provide basic needs for their newborn, and physical
contact was restricted to small amounts of touching through the isolette. It was also clear that mom
and dad had still not developed any comfort with independently holding or feeding the baby. I
observed that they wanted to become more comfortable and have more physical interaction with
their child. Overall they wanted to become more integrated into the physical care of their child.

Society has transposed, humiliated and belittled the true purpose of the word Feminism. Often, when we hear the word feminist, most people associate it with the stereotypical image of an angry protester running in her bra down the streets. Or perhaps the image of an Ugly philosopher who is angry for not receiving male attention. Feminism still exists because women still do not have equal rights to men, in New Zealand or globally. However, the backlash of this vote stated that it was Unfair and simply filled with feminists and Gender Snobs . Any woman who openly states that she is a feminist is automatically judged and labelled as Man hater and a radical female .
