Patrick Henry Allusion
Lawyer and Politician, Patrick Henry, in his speech, Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death (03/23/1775),
argues why they shouldn t sit there and wait and not do anything when war is coming. As well as not
letting it be, if they don t fight they ll become slaves of the British and he doesn t want that for the
people wanting them to fight for their freedom. He supports his claim by first going to the president
and letting him know that for their country they should take in consideration the war that s coming, his
personal belief is not to lay back, there is no backup with no time to waste, while questioning freedom
and slavery, him being a natural man he believes that illusion of hope is false, finally not being
dishonest with themselves and fight. Henry s purpose is to get themselves to stand up for their
freedom and not to become slaves, and not be under British ruling and keep what they have. He
implies an aggravated and raffle tone for the Second Virginia Convention, and the President. ... Show

Explaining to them their mistake on assuming the British would ever treat them fairly, making them
think if it is right when in reality at the end it will just devour them fully until there is no more
American colonies. He creates a clear point letting them know he will not be transformed into what
the King wants him to be, he will not be become a completely different person that he won t

Interview With A Panino Restaurant
Panino Restaurant
The entrepreneur that I interviewed was Lydia Patterson. In 1989, Lydia and her husband, Lou,
decided to start planning to open up a new Italian restaurant in Virginia. The restaurant industry,
especially in the Washington DC area is very competitive. It is highly competitive with respect to
price, value and promotions, service, location, and food quality. There are a substantial number of
restaurant operations that compete for customer traffic, some of which have significantly greater
resources to aggressively market to consumers, which could result in losing market share. Consumers
are highly focused on value and if other restaurants are able to promote and deliver a higher degree of
value, guest traffic levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The actual building of the inside of the restaurant took place first. This took approximately two
months to complete and in the meantime, Lydia and Lou were planning menus, marketing plans, and
thinking about how they wanted to conduct their business. This included the types of benefits they
wanted to give their employees, how many people they wanted to hire, how they wanted to run their
business, what foods would be served, and which types of people they wanted to appeal to. In March
1991, the building of the restaurant was completed and Lydia finally was able to design the inside of
the restaurant and decorate according to her personal taste. She gave the restaurant a simple, Italian
style feel that would appeal to the area that the restaurant was located in. Paintings by her brother in
law would hang on every wall along with having hand painted antiques throughout the restaurant. The
set up of the restaurant took about a month. In late April of 1991, Lydia and Lou decided to take the
planning process to the next level and decided to start executing some of their plans. This is when
some of the setbacks started to take place. When starting this new business venture, technology wasn t
popular yet and they needed to market their new restaurant to the clients that they wanted to appeal to.
They weren t to see how to go about doing this. Their menu would be moderately priced and there
were many surrounding businesses close by. They thought

Oodgeroo
To our Fathers Fathers, the pain, the sorrow; To our Children s Children, the glad tomorrow. . Hi, I m
Zane Goodridge and today I ll be analysing the song of hope and revealing the messages within it .
This poem, by Aboriginal poet Kath Walker, also known as Oodgeroo, is about how she believes that
things are becoming better, and for this trend to continue, Aborigines and Australians alike need to
trust each other. In order for you to understand the rest of the speech, I will now present a reading of
the poem. Look up, my people; the Dawn is breaking; The world is waking; To a bright new day.
When none defame us; Nor restriction tame us; Nor colour shame us; nor sneer dismay. Now brood no
more; on the years behind you; the hope assigned you; shall the past ... Show more content on

After continued reading of the poem it became clear that Kath had a much more powerful message
hidden behind the explicit meaning of the poem. She feels that the past is yet to be properly amended
and that it needs to be before the Aborigines and European descendants can move forward. This is
reflected especially in Stanzas 2 and 3. In stanza 2 the lines Now brood no more and The hope
assigned you shows that there was clearly some kind of destiny that was less then looked forward to in
each aboriginal individual. In Stanza 3, there is a much larger presence of this message. With lines like
So long we waited; bound and frustrated; till hate be hated; and caste deposed. Provides an insight into
Aboriginies having to wait in pain until something was done about their lives and opportunities.
Though it seems that Oodgeroo does believe that things are getting better, she acknowledges that the
aboriginal people were not always the best treated and that she believes that things should be formally
amended before things can become better for all, regardless of

Beatles Thesis
The Beatles Music has impacted human lives all throughout history, whether it has been a simple thing
like someone playing their guitar in the streets or an overcrowded performance by an artist. The
reason behind this is because music has been able to express emotions that many can t express into
words and it has grown so much throughout the years that it has exponentially become a statement for
those trying to impact others. A great example of a group, who was able to influence not only lives,
but some say even generations, is The Beatles. Before learning about their fame and success it is
important to understand where it all began and how it all unfolded for these four artists. According to
author Womack Kenneth, who wrote The Beatles Encyclopedia: Everything Fab Four Ringo Starr was
born on July 7 1940, on October 9 John Winston Lennon is born, June 8 1942 James Paul McCartney
is born and lastly in February 25 1943 George Harrison is born and all four were born in Liverpool,
England . Before becoming The Beatles they were once known as The Quarry Men (Womack). Their
encounter occurred on the year 1957 McCarthy first met Lennon and decided to join the Quarry Men
after performing at the Woolton Parish Church Garden Fête in Liverpool and a year after that Harrison
joins the Quarry Men (Womack). Following their partnership that same year in June they record their
first professional tape with songs such as That ll Be the Day and In Spite of All the Danger

Gender Conformity And Expectations Through Time
Orlando by Virginia Woolf addresses the issues of gender conformity and expectations through time;
in this case, three centuries during the Elizabethan Era in the area around Europe. The main character,
Orlando, experiences a gender change during his lifetime to become a female and that drastically
modifies the way that she lives. Through the motif of Orlando s gender change and androgyny,
Orlando experiences both life and love, which is not common for men and women regardless of the
time period. Orlando began life as a young boy, living in a house in the country before being taken
into the city by the Queen. As a child, he encourages himself to chase masculine pursuits in life, as his
father and other ancestors do before him. Despite the encouragement of masculine activities as his
family is known for, during his isolation, he decides instead as an adult that they and their deeds [are]
dust and ashes (Woolf, 81) and that he would like to live life the way that he wants to, as a poet
searching for love. Even as a man, Orlando has the power and authority to live his life how he wishes,
but he always craves love. A poet at heart, Orlando has many loves, such as the girls in his sonnets,
and he always writes about them in the way he finds best. He claims Love [has] meant nothing to him
but sawdust and cinders (40) and he cannot find the love he is always searching for. Without love in
his life, Orlando reaches out to experience new things and thus... this Nobleman [has]...

Essay on Pathophysiology of Meningitis and Encephalitis
Pathophysiology of Meningitis and Encephalitis
Meningitis and encephalitis are two similar infections of the central nervous system that often lead to
fatality of the host organism. Both diseases occur when pathogens enter the blood stream and gain
access into the central nervous system. Stimulating inflammation within the cranial cavity, the
pathogens continue to multiply and take harmful effects on the host. Inflammation, the body s
response to infection, ultimately causes all of the symptoms and complications of meningitis and
encephalitis. The pathophysiology of meningitis and encephalitis aids in the explanation and
understanding of the symptoms, effects, and underlying agendas of the two infections.
Meningitis is the inflammation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5). For example, S. pneumoniae (pneumococcal meningitis) has a mortality rate of 40% of infected
patients, while N. meningitidis (meningococcal meningitis) kills only 5 10% of its victims (Phillips,
par. 14). Although the bacteria commonly live
1
harmlessly in the mouth and throat, they occasionally overcome the body s immune system, thus
infecting the host. One can acquire meningitis through direct contact with the bacteria during trauma
or neurosurgery.
The infectious bacteria enter into the body through the nasopharynx. Numerous bacteria contain pili,
structures on the surface of the cell wall, that adhere to receptors on mucosal cells within the
nasopharynx. In the nasopharynx, the bacteria colonize and invade nearby tissues (Phillips, par. 3).
Next, they enter the central nervous system by way of the blood stream or respiratory tract. Because
the bacteria have a capsule composed of polysaccharides, they easily evade phagocytosis by the
neutrophils and the complement system (a component of the immune response).
The bacteria then travel to the meninges, the membranes that encase the brain. The circulatory system
and the central nervous system are separated by three layers called the blood brain barrier: the dura
mater (the outermost layer), the arachnoid (the middle layer made of connective tissue), and the pia
mater (which comes in contact with the meninges). Although the meninges are difficult to infect due
to an effective blood brain

Stereotypes Of Women In Sports
Though being athletic and masculine have been a man s physical description, women have fought to
prove those gender stereotypes wrong. Women have been defeating the odds of athleticism and
masculinity that men realized, but wanted to hide and not appreciate their work. Through time men
and women have made an effort to come together to bring attention to the downgrading of women in
sports to earn acknowledgement and respect. With this, history has described men and women s sports
as not equal but as history continues, women defeat the odds yet again. Women participating in
athletic activities and sports date back millennia. Stories of women playing ball dates back to 800 BC
in Homer s works of The Iliad. Until the 1870 s, women never had the luxury of sports classified for
women specifically. Multitasking was a high concern. People thought that each person had a set
amount of energy and multitasking would deplete this energy rapidly that could cause harm to that
individual. Women were highly encouraged to limit their activity so they would not fatigue their
selves so quickly to avoid harm to their body. Doctors of this time believed this over exertion could
damage reproductive organs, decrease fertility rate, excessive stimulate emotions to the extent of a
nervous breakdown, and even bizarre as decrease in a woman s sexual inhibition if she excessively
indulged in sports (Cahn par. 4). There were fashionable activities such as horseback riding for women
in the early 1800 s

Mexican American War Dbq
The Mexicans started the Mexican American War in 1846 because of three main reasons. One reason
was that Santa Anna, a general and president of Mexico during 1836, signed the Treaty of Velasco,
which stated that Texas was a free and independent nation, and is not a part of Mexico. When Santa
Anna returned to the capital of Mexico, he completely disregarded this treaty and claimed to have
never signed it with General Houston, even though the Texans had the papers, and claimed that Texas
was in rebellion, so he got his army ready and went after the Texans. Because of this, General Zachary
Taylor was told by the War Department to be ready to move his men from Louisiana to a site near or
on the Rio Grande river in order to protect and/or repel

Essay on Executive Summary of Calyx $ Corolla
Executive Summary
Calyx amp; Corolla is a young company that offers a very unique choice for customers who are
interested in buying fresh flowers. Fresh flowers industry valued approximately $9 Billion in the
United States in 1990 with steady market growth rate of 7.7% since 1985. However, the market
potential did not reach the top yet. US fresh flowers market still has more room to grow. Per capita
consumption of flowers and plants in the US was $36 per year, while the average in Europe was $60.
Since a flower diminished its value everyday due to lacking of freshness, efficient distribution is the
key to the flower industry. Calyx amp; Corolla has a distinctive way of delivering flowers to the
consumers. Calyx amp; Corolla links ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second, the location of flower departments in supermarkets was usually near produce departments and
ethylene gas might hasten the deterioration of flowers.
Stepping into the growth stage of the business life cycle, Calyx and Corolla was looking for
organizational and financial implications to support a more aggressive long term growth strategies.
This report suggests both short term and long term strategies that align with Calyx and Corolla s long
term goals.
First of all, Calyx and Corolla should further stimulate sales during the peak period and increase the
off peak sales amount in order to stabilize its income and gain more capital to invest in the long term
plan.
In order to achieve in the long run, Calyx and Corolla needs to change its organizational structure to
be more competitive in the fresh flower market. Calyx and Corolla has to be more customer intimated.
Calyx and Corolla has to understand more about the fresh flower consumer buying behavior in order
to expand its market base.
We would suggest Calyx and Corolla to open its direct shops in strategic areas. Calyx and Corolla
should set up at least three new internal departments: formal internal marketing department, a database
management team, and a corporate account team. Customer Relation Management (CRM) is another
management aspect that Calyx and Corolla would want to consider. Last but not least, we would
suggest Calyx and Corolla to fund research for the development of flowers growing

ABSTRACT
Dyes known to the ancients came from plants such as indigo and madder or from the shells of
mollusks; today most dyes are made from coal tar and petrochemicals. The chemical structure of dyes
is relatively easy to modify, so many new colours and types of dyes have been synthesized. Natural

Today, nearly all dyes are made from compounds obtain from petroleum or coal, this dyes are called
synthetic dyes as opposed to natural dyes obtained from plants, animals, and mineral sources which
were exclusively used in the past.
The Researchers will try to produce natural dye using Sibukaw Wood to promote the usage of natural
dyes and to lessen the production of synthetic dyes, which are very expensive.
Statement of the Problem
Can the extract of the sibukaw wood be an effective textile dye?
Sub Problems
1. Can the extract from the sibukaw wood be used to color the clopman cloth?
2. Is there a difference in the intensity of the color the extract gives to the clopman cloth using a

Any Farming is Good Farming Essay
Any Farming is Good Farming
In the future you will go to the grocery store and pay $15 a pound for Pork, and $20 a pound for Beef.
World hunger outside the United States will be running rampant because of an inadequate food supply.
Houses will start to pop up on all of the United States prime farmland. If we continue to bash
corporate farming, this is the world we would be looking at. Family farms would thrive because there
is little competition. The world as a whole would suffer because the small farms in the United States
could no longer supply the world, let alone its own citizens, with food.
The farming industry as a whole is failing and that is why we see family farms disappearing from the

The leader of the National Family Farm Coalition, Bill Cristison states, There needs to be a far greater
understanding in this country about the important role of family farmers in providing for our nations
food supply and food security (Christison). The truth is family farms do not produce enough goods to
support the demand in the United States. People can t see that we need corporate farming and it is a
good thing for the national government to support any type of farming. In my mind, Cristison must not
want to support farming at all because he rejects the 2002 Farm Bill. Cristison states, Representative
Larry Combest, the House Agriculture Committee chairman, has said publicly that the winners of this
Farm Bill are American farmers. I strongly disagree. The winners of this farm bill are corporate
agribusiness (Christison). This bill was going to deliver income to farms through the taxpayer. This
would make up for losses that ANY farmer may take. Why would Cristison be against this if he is for
farming? Family farms are getting the money as well. This bill is very fair; if you have a larger farm
you will receive more money. That is how it should work, much like taxes in a sense that you pay
based on the size of your income. This bill was the only logical agreement reached by the national
government on how to help its farmers.
I know exactly what people in this country want to see when they think of agriculture. They want to
see their next door neighbor out on

Persuasive Speech Essay On Kids
Families come in all shapes and sizes. Some have two parents , one or two kids, a dog, a cat, and a

My Life At Van De Walle Architects
On November 22nd, 2016 my father drove me downtown to my job shadow. The morning was cold
and the traffic was heavy. But above all, I was shaking with excitement. I was to shadow at Van De

the business in Sioux Falls in 1972. Now the firm is on the 2nd floor in a business district in
downtown Sioux Falls. Upon my arrival at Van De Walle Architects I spoke with a Katy Krantz. Her

if I had thought about colleges. This spurred an hour long conversation about NDSU and Iowa State
University. He explained to me that the only thing they don t teach you in high school is the codes.
This is when he led me to a large book case full of binders upon binders. He explained to me how they
have codes to follow for different buildings and how that can sometimes be the hardest part of the job.
He said each binder had to do with a different building type. They had codes relating to plumbing and
window heights. They also had codes for Handicap accessible rooms and buildings. I would definitely
have to say this was my least favorite part. Not because it was boring but because the overwhelming
weight all these books put on my shoulders perhaps scared me for my future having to deal with these
codes. At this time it was roughly 10:30. Mr. Dietzenbach had a job site visit with a client at 11:00 a
few blocks over. So Brad and I, plus another Architect whose name I never got, walked the three
blocks to the job site. On our walk over they explained that it was a

History Of The Watergate Scandal
Throughout history, the American people have had a hard time instilling trust in their government and
political leaders. Between the numerous scandals involving United States presidents and other
political leaders and the dozens of conspiracy theories encompassing the United States government, it
is no wonder why the American people have lost trust in their government, and why the United States
has become the laughing stock of foreign countries. The 2016 presidential election was arguably the
most controversial election in American history; many voters felt that neither of the candidates could
be trusted due to their questionable actions. Numerous Americans were outraged when current U.S.

Hermia s Speech By William Shakespeare
Hermia s speech in Act 2, Scene 2, contains an abundance of dream imagery. She has awoken from a
terrible dream after falling asleep in the forest with Lysander. They were lost and tired and decided to
rest. Lysander wanted to sleep beside her but she refused since they are not yet married and while they
slept Puck applied a love potion on Lysander s eyes thinking he was Demetrius. Lysander wakes and
is repulsed by the sight of Hermia and never wants to see her again because he is now in love with
Helena. Hermia awakes from her terrible dream and retells it thinking that Lysander is nearby
listening. Then she realizes that he is not there and she does not see him anywhere. Hermia expresses
the sentiment that she will find Lysander or she will surely die. She stated, Help me, Lysander, help

Criticism Of Cultural Relativism
Cultural relativism is the theory where there is no objective truth in morality, and moral truths are
determined by different cultures. The primary argument used to justify cultural relativism is the
cultural differences argument, which claims different cultures have different moral practices and
beliefs, therefore, there is no objective truth in morality (Newton). After reading James Rachels The
Challenge of Cultural Relativism, I find his criticisms to be persuasive because the argument made for
Cultural Relativism is not sound from a logical point of view. You cannot draw a conclusion about
what is factual based on what people believe is factual. Rachels also points out that even though
cultures do in fact disagree about moral values, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In our country, someone who likes to be helpful is considered a model citizen, whereas in his own
country he would be considered abnormal (Benedict p.2). Benedict used this example.to argue that
like behavior, morality is culturally determined and that what can be morally right for one society can
be considered morally wrong for another (Newton, Evaluating Cultural Relativism).
Where Ruth Benedict believed morality is relative, James Rachels disagrees. This is where I would
have to agree with James Rachels criticisms regarding the Cultural Difference Argument. The premise
argues that different cultures have different moral codes. The conclusion argues that there is no
objective truth in morality and right and wrong are only matters of opinion, and opinions vary from
culture to culture. Cultural relativists argue from facts about different cultural outlooks to the
conclusion about the status of morality. Rachels uses the shape of the earth as an example. In some
societies, people believe the Earth is flat. In others, people believe it is spherical. If using the Cultural
Difference Argument, our premise would be that societies disagree about the shape of the earth. We
would then conclude there is no fact of the matter about the shape of the earth (Rachels p.20 21).
This is not a logical argument because belief does not instantly imply truth. The premise of an
argument is

Essay about Student-Centered Learning
Student Centered Learning missing works cited
Definition(s)
There are several ways that student centered learning can be described, and they all lead back to the
same basic idea, the student. First, student centered learning can be defined as a discipline that
involves the interaction of a team of students that experience creative learning to be used in the real
world (Thornburg, 1995). Thornburg (1995) also mention that students are essential to the classroom,
just like a team member is essential to a game. He says that teachers are part of the definition of
student centered learning, but they are not the main attraction. The students are the focus, and the
teacher is the one who can assist among small groups of students. Eaton ... Show more content on

Research and development helps with predicting the cost and the effectiveness of the approach on the
system. The idea is that the research and development will increase students future accomplishment.
The first approach of student centered learning that will be discussed is a teaching method called the
Learning Cycle. A study was done with fifth grade students learning about sound. There were some
students who were taught using the Learning Cycle, and some students were taught using the textbook
approach. To see which method produced a greater understanding of sound the students were
randomly selected, and an interview method was used in both groups to see what the students
previously knew about sound. Then, in the instruction part of the procedure an instructor was used in
both methods. In the Learning Cycle approach there were three phases: exploration, concept
introduction and concept application . During these three phases the students worked together in
groups while discussing their ideas and using manipulatives to act out the concepts. Also, the teacher
would act as a facilitator, while the students discussed their ideas, and created more ideas and
situations to figure out. During the lessons, the students were in active control and they could lead the
lesson with their ideas and conclusions. The students were very excited to work together and the
groups encouraged some of the students to share their ideas more willingly (Barman, Barman 1996).

Mars Rover
Mars Rover
Mars is an interesting and mysterious planet. It is often referred to as the Red Planet. The Romans
named Mars after the god of war. The rocks, soil, and sky all have a red hue on account of rust. Mars
is the fourth planet from the sun at about 141 million miles (228 million kilometers) and the last
terrestrial planet from the Sun. Mars follows closely behind Earth but is comparatively smaller, with
about half the diameter of Earth (6,794 km) and about one tenth of Earth s mass (6.419 x 1023 kg).
Thus the force of gravity on Mars is about one third of that on Earth. Mars is probably the planet we
know the most about since it is so close to Earth, though what we know now is not even close to
everything about the planet. Over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Equality Exposed In Ayn Rand s Anthem
In the book Anthem written by Ayn Rand we are introduced to a man named Equality 7 2521 who
lives in a dystopian city. He faces many difficulties within the course of the story and finds out that
thinking for what s best for yourself is better than the community. Equality catches interest in a
woman in his city named Liberty 5 3000 but sadly cannot associate with her because men are not
allowed to even notice women. Equality becomes very critical and rebellious throughout the course of
the story just by disobeying the laws of his city. Based on the number of times Liberty was actually
mentioned in the story she was loving and loyal towards Equality. Equality is a considerably critical
man in the story, here are some examples. Equality states I owe nothing to my brothers nor do I gather
debts from them. I ask none to live for me, nor do I live for any others. I covet no man s soul, nor is
my soul theirs to covet (Rand 97). Throughout the story Equality sees many problems he faces with
much thought, he finds the problem and attempts to make it better. Later in the story Equality runs off
to the Uncharted forest and has to find ways to survive and says why the best in me had been my sins
and transgressions and why I had never felt any guilt in my sins (Rand 98). As this quote was one of

Ethics And Shopping In Malcolm Gladwell s The Science Of...
There is science behind everything, including shopping, there are reasons why stores are arranged a
certain way it is not just because it looks pretty , but how do store managers know where to place
certain items in certain places? And does it improve sales? Malcolm Gladwell wrote The Science of
Shopping in which he reveals that the reason why stores are organized a specific way is because they
hire people such as Paco Underhill. According to Gladwell he is a retail anthropologist and an urban
geographer which means he studies the shopping behavior. When Underhill is hired he sets up
cameras all around the store and after a few days of filming people as they shop and studying their
every move. He then sells this information to the stores so they can use it to improve their business.
Should it be allowed for people like Underhill to observe customers as they shop? People could debate
on this topic saying that customers need privacy, but what Underhill does is ethical, clients should be
watched in stores even if it is without their knowledge because it would help both consumers and
businesses. Being able to observe people s behavior in stores and seeing what they are attracted to
would help the store increase sales by putting those items at a reachable place for them to grab. It
would also benefit consumers because costumer service would improve. Lastly, being able to study
shopping behavior would be easy for stores to see patterns and trends. If the store is aware of

The Social Science Perspectives Of Sociologists And Social...
The two social science perspectives of criminologists and social marketers share both connections and
disparities when it comes to the use of drugs and alcohol. This report emphasises the different
disciplinary approaches used by both these social science perspectives when it comes to alcohol and
drugs. A criminologists perspective explores the use of drug courts to divert illicit drug users from
prison into treatment programs for their drug addictions along with the revaluation of the 25a crimes
act Assault causing death due to the 2012 Thomas Kelly king hit in Kings cross. The social marketing
perspectives examines the different marketing range and nature of advertising and promotional
strategies used by alcohol companies to young people and the codes and regulations put in place when
it comes to advertising alcohol and young people.
It is inevitable that at some stage in an individual s life, they are going to use drugs and or alcohol and
some point. In the entirety of this report alcohol refers to a liquid or brew containing alcohol as the
active agent and drugs refer to a substance that is used as a medicine or narcotic. (Hornby, A.S. and
Wehmeier, S., 1995)
The criminologist s perspective has a heavy reliance on the drug court when it comes to the
disciplinary approaches used in relations to drugs. The term Drug Court refers to dedicated
courtrooms that provide judicially monitored treatment, drug testing and other services to drug

Beauty pageants are events that little girls dream of. This dream however, was not an overnight well
planned event, the history of The Miss America pageant started as a beauty contest a long time before
now. The beauty pageant was held on September the seventh and the eighth of 1921. Beauty pageants
have evolved over the years, after World War 2, shows were made to represent the ideal woman a
feminine, wife like the keeper of the household. But now, pageants have different selection criteria. It
all depends on how women are perceived in society. Traits can range from high and independent to
soft and feminine. The winner of pageants will be recognized as successful and beautiful and will
embody well being traits. An example of a show that operates in this manner would be the Miss
America Pageant. It is a pageant in which winners represent the ideal woman. People are continually
instigating on the rumor of shows are for the most beautiful people in the country. Though beauty
plays an important part, the year and definition of an ideal woman in this age play a more significant
role. In 1921, Margeret Gorman won the very first beauty pageant. She looked like Mary Pickford
who was the most significant star of the day, and this was the ideal woman of 1921. Thus, the perfect
woman and year play a big part. Pageants are competitions that mainly focus on the physical beauty,

of a white collar criminal. The characteristics consist of people who are highly educated and
considered as reliable among their subordinates and peers. They are usually in an executive position

Privacy, Surveillance, And Law Essay
Introduction
1 As technology changes the way we live, especially by making communication and transactions
easier, the security of our personal information becomes an important issue if people are expected to
trust the government, companies, and each other. Although scholars have provided several accounts of
the importance of privacy, it still remains unclear how individuals view and value it. For the purposes
of this essay, privacy is broadly defined as the controlled access to personal information or ideas. In
this paper, I will examine Richard Posner s article Privacy, Surveillance, and Law and Neil Richards s
paper The Dangers of Surveillance. Although both Posner and Richards begin with the same
assumption that people fear public scrutiny, their different interpretations of this human nature lead to
different conclusions. While Richards relates privacy to our fundamental rights so that he considers
any surveillance dangerous, Posner s belief that we value privacy as a possession that promotes other
ends is more justified because it allows individuals to weigh the costs and benefits of surveillance.
People Fear Public Scrutiny
2 Fundamentally, both Posner s and Richards s arguments stem from the assumption that people fear
public scrutiny. Accordingly, Richards claims that public exposure pressures people into conformity.
The prospect of drawing unwanted attention due to deviant behavior encourages people to change
such behavior. This is an observation of the

Theories Of Sales Promotion
CHAPTER3
THEORETICAL
BACKGROUND
Rapid Growth of Sales Promotion:
Sales promotion tools are used by most organizations, including manufacturers, distributors, retailers,
and not for profit institutions. They are targeted toward final buyers (consumer promotions), retailers
and wholesalers (trade promotion). Today, in the average consumer packaged company, sales
promotion accounts for 74 percent of all marketing expenditures. Several factors have contributed to
the rapid growth of sales promotion, particularly in consumer market. First, inside the company
manager face greater pressures to increase their current sales, and promotion is viewed as an effective
short run sales tool. Second, externally, the company faces more competition and competing brands
are less differentiated. Increasingly efficiency has declined because of rising costs, media clutter, and
legal restraints. Finally, consumers have become more deal oriented, and ever larger retailers are
demanding more deals from manufacture. In developing a sales promotion program, a company must
first set sales promotion objectives and then select the best tools for accomplishing these objectives.

The Reversal of Traditions in Shrek Essay example
The Reversal of Traditions in Shrek
In traditional fairy tales ogres are man eating beast. The prince usually rescues the princess; they

this tradition to reveal the ogre as good and the prince as evil?
In this essay I am going to analyse the characters of shrek and Lord Farquaad, and write about how
filmmakers use different camera angles, lighting, music and setting to create an unusual fairy tale. The

m a real boy . At the start of shrek it starts like a traditional fairy tale until shrek s hand appears and
rips out a page of a book and then rap music starts playing.
In traditional fairy tales princes are meant to be brave, tall, strong and handsome but Lord Farquaad is
small, ugly, scared, and weak, Lord Farquaad is not traditional because he is a nasty and evil character
like when he is torturing the ginger bread man, plus he sends all the fairy tale creatures to shrek s

He has an evil side when he sends shrek to rescue the princess from the dragons keep instead of going
himself. When we first meet Lord Farquaad he is in the torture chamber and its very dull and the
guards are dressed in black so it sets a scary and dull scene.
Before Lord Farquaad asked shrek to rescue the princess he asks the best soldiers in the land to fight
each other and the winner gets to kill the dragon but if they fail then the runner up would try, instead
of going to try and rescue herself. This is his frightened and weak side of Lord Farquaad.

Plagiarism, Cheating And Academic Standards
1. Introduction
The demonstration of showing the thoughts of others as your own without referencing known as
plagiarism. This is cheating and degrades academic standards. One of the most important contributing
factors that make plagiarism a worldwide problem is the simple access to web assets, where all the
investigative papers and reports are effectively accessible. It has been evaluated that plagiarism has
always been an area of interest for both administrators and teachers when they want efforts of students
in order to reflect the learning consequences. On the other hand, the web is anything but difficult to
access to practically boundless composed material on each possible subject, suspicion of understudy
copying has started to influence educators at all levels with the advent of the internet. The thought of
the center estimations of scholarly respectability is the part of greater image of individual integrity at
the heart of the plagiarism debate. A link between their values and plagiarism from the students has
been observed from past articles. However, plagiarism is an ever increasing issue (Appiah, 2016).
2. Causes of Plagiarism
The causes of plagiarism include insufficient languages abilities, an absence of talents for utilizing
data, newness to western scholarly societies and burden to attain education marks. It has been
evaluated from different approaches that student s understandings of plagiarism are provided through
academic integrity. In fact, students did not

Comparing Victor Frankenstein And The Creature In Mary...
Though Victor Frankenstein thinks fundamentally in terms of who belongs to whom , he and the
Creature share a strange bond that goes beyond the bounds of mere possession. Frankenstein clearly
ignores his mutual obligations and promises, especially towards the Creature, creating a relationship
between the two that is composed entirely of power struggles rather than any form of mutuality. In
addition to this, as one who thinks about social organization in terms of sheer power, Frankenstein
extends this master slave relationship to nature itself in short, he treats nature the same as he treats his
unnatural Creation.

thinking, again, in terms of possession and sees nature (like the Creature) as something to control and

lightning he watches its progress with curiosity and delight because he has never beheld anything so

is deeply afraid of what he cannot control, and not just nature: contemplating the Creature (a being

save the armadillos, which is probably too late. In her poem she states When we re down to the last
half dozen, we ll see them with the eyes of God. (l.18 19). When the numbers of armadillos are very
low, society will start to care for them like other animals which are included in the endangered species
list. Society will act like they cherish the lives of the armadillos, much like we cherish the lives of our
children, or another human being, society will start to see them with the eyes of God, like how God
gives importance to us as his children and how God cares for us. White also used a sarcastic tone to
her poem. The sarcastic tone of the poem adds power to the message she is trying to convey to the
reader. It brings attention to the situations of not just armadillos but every wild animal that are being
taken for granted. In lines 10 to 12 No one cares. There is no Save the Armadillo Society. Unlike other
animals that are included in the endangered species list, there are no groups or people who are trying
to save the armadillos, because they are not endangered yet, there are still plenty of them in the wild,
their lives are not as precious as a polar bear, or a siberian tiger. In conclusion, White is trying to tell

The Sacrament Of Confirmation Arose
The sacrament of confirmation arose from practical changes in the early Christian church that created
the basis for this ritual from which it developed into the modern rite that symbolizes the conscious
decision to join the Roman Catholic Church. Confirmation was originally a part of the sacrament of
baptism in early Christianity. According to Heugel (2005) what is now referred to as confirmation was
...a final anointing, handlaying, and prayer commonly given neophytes as they came out of the
baptismal waters... (p. 1). In the Fifth Century, in large part due to the practice of baptizing Catholic
children at birth becoming commonplace, Pope Innocent I decreed that this part of the baptismal
ceremony can only be performed by a Bishop, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the development of the concept of limbo gave some respite, this potential fate led to
Christian families to baptize their children earlier and earlier until it became common practice to
baptize infants as soon as possible. The second change was that the Christian church, now more fully
organized and developed, did not allow for just any Christian or priest to perform a baptism, rather it
had to be administered by a Bishop. From a practical standpoint this meant that bishops had to travel
further and more often in order to initiate the new members. There were simply not enough Bishops
and too much ground to cover, especially since previously baptism was common only for adults, who
would travel to their Bishop on Easter Sunday every year to receive the sacrament of Baptism. Pope
Innocent I addressed this problem by instituting that a Bishop must perform the final anointing and
handlaying of a Baptism. This meant that the rest of the ritual could be administered by a priest, which
allowed baptism to be more easily accessible for everyone. The Christian could then complete the
initiation ritual later on in life when they encountered a Bishop. This separation of the ritual however,
was the beginning of the sacrament of confirmation. Pope Innocent I s decree that final anointment
and handlaying could only be performed by a Bishop did

The Poetry Of Audre Lorde
Poetry is a very creative way of writing and reading literature. It is used to express feelings, thoughts,
or emotions on a certain topic. Poetry writing goes back to ancient times and is still used today.
Famous poets include Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Edgar Allen Poe and many others. There was
one poet, in particular, that was more modern and different than the rest, Audre Lorde. She was known
as a feminist, civil rights activist, mother, and a visionary. Audre Lorde was creative in a way that she
used her poetry to support and spread awareness for many social movements in America. Her poetry
often expressed her thoughts and feelings on major issues such as Civil Rights, Gay rights, Women s
rights and racial equality. Mrs. Lorde uses unique literacy languages, such as similes, symbols,
imagery, and tone throughout her works entitled A Litany for Survival and Outline ; to voice her
struggles through her childhood and life.
Audrey Geraldine Lorde was born on February 18, 1934, in Harlem, New York. Harlem was a place
that represented negro success and was a home to many writers (Veaux 5). She was legally blind and
labeled as a special child which made her two older sisters despise her and parents tolerate her.
Growing up in a Caribbean household was very strict. She was expected to act appropriately, continue
her educational career, and pursue strong work ethics (Veaux 18), if not she was punished by scolding
or beatings. Lorde lacked the love and attention

Difference Between Traditional Medicine And Herbal Medicine
Traditional medicine or commonly called herbal medicine is used for all different various types of
unscientific knowledge systems used within several cultures ever since the beginning of mankind.
Sometimes, it is also referred as folk medicine, mainly owing to the fact that it was progressively
developed over a lot of generations. Studies shows that there are still certain areas of the world,
especially in Africa and Asia where 80% of the population still relies on herbal medicine practices in
lieu of most of their primary health needs. It is also used in the Western civilizations but it may
occasionally lead to certain health risks in circumstances when it is not used properly.
Based on the article on the Steady Health, the first herbal medicine ... Show more content on

However, modern medicines are individually use for a specific ailments only unlike using Lagundi
plant which has several uses in every part. Therefore, natural Lagundi plant is way better since it has
many purposes. On the other hand, herbal medicines and modern medicines have difference and it is
the technique which they both observe the condition and diseases. Based on a research, diseases are
biological situations which are written off as abnormalities in the role of certain organs or entire organ
systems. Meanwhile, illnesses are absolutely not the same for they comprise spiritual, psychological,
and social aspects of an affected person. Present prescriptions these days frequently ignore the aspects
of an individual mentioned above and as a consequence, most herbal medicine practitioners believe
that the art of health giving has been vanished over the years. This sort of dissatisfaction headed to a
significant growth in the number of people who rely on herbal medicines in order to get rid of their
medical problems. These people believe in the fact that one s wellness and overall health do not
depend only on a positive riddance of several diseases inside the human

The primary utilizes only a capacitor, a resistor, and a transistor. Both coils are 200mm of 22 gauge
standard magnet wire. The primary circuit is illustrated in Figure 4, and the secondary in Figure 5.
Figure 4 Figure 5 The third design is the most simplistic of the three, and only requires a single
transistor and coil in the primary circuit. The added in diodes and resistor were added to reduce the
total amount of heat produced in the system, as excess heat was being generated while the current was
being fed directly into the transistor. The final system consumes only 20 40mA. Refer back to Figure 1
for the circuit diagram. In order to optimize the power delivered to the load to increase the efficiency
of the secondary circuit, Rs must be diminished to as low of a value as possible. Likewise, in order to
optimize the amount of power being delivered to the secondary circuit through coupling, the primary
circuit must increase the amount of power from the source, as well as decrease the resistance in the
primary coil itself. The quality factor of the secondary coil is inversely related to the secondary
resistance, Rs. The system described is shown in Figure

Balloon Persuasive Essay
Meandering down the street, a man sees tons of balloons being liberated on a small child s, maybe
even a toddler s, birthday party. Remembering what a pleasure parties were when he released balloons
as a child, he does not realize the veracity of this situation. All knowledge considered, no one should
blame him; after all, the balloon industry has put a cap on everyone and everything that goes against it
and it s habits. In fact, balloons are common, and seemingly harmless party decorations, but
innumerable believe they need to become banned. They believe this for the fact that balloons can be
harmful to the environment, depleting of natural resources, and there seems to be no real safe
alternative. However, some researchers believe the exact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

are the only true ways to describe balloons. There are countless objects that could be released into the
air instead of balloons, in fact, some of the flying objects you can release are much more fun than
releasing balloons. Some examples of objects that are usually released instead of balloons are floating
lanterns and even butterflies. Overall, governments around the world need to ban the balloons, and

President Poll Analysis
Life has its ups and downs. So does being president of the United States. Sometimes the people love
and support the president s decisions and actions, while other times they speak harshly of him. How is
possible to know this? Well, of course, there are news programs that talk about the president. The
anchors often give their opinion of the president and interview others. But, there is also another way to
get the public s opinion. A type of poll that is commonly use throughout the service of U.S presidents
is the Presidental job approval rating. This poll is designed to measure how well the public thinks the
president is doing his or job.
Some presidents have done exceptionally well in the public s opinion, while others like, George ...

Then, the participants answered that they either approved or disapproved. But, the participants could
also choose to have no opinion. Due to the fact that the surveyor wants the public s true opinion on the
president, in his or her questions, they refrain from using bias to sway their participant. Consequently,
the questions used are often straightforward and simple. Presidental job approval rating polls are not
given to the entire population of the United States. In other words, these polls are targeted towards
specific groups. Who was surveyed for the poll? And how many? Adult citizens and registered voters
were surveyed for the poll. 1,001 adult Americans were surveyed by interviews that occurred over
telephone calls. Earlier, it was mentioned that this poll refrained from using bias. What exactly were
the questions about? What are some examples of the non biased questions? The questions about
Obama were simply asking if the person approved or disapproved of the way he handled his job as
president and how the person felt about his dealings with ISIS, Foreign Affairs, etc. Here are a few
examples of actual questions used: Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is
handling his job as president? Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling

The Effects Of Fishing On The Big Trophy Winners
When I come it fishing, let s just say I am hooked like a large mouth bass is hooked to my line. Ever
since I was a boy and my dad took me and my brother fishing, I could never get enough of it. Every
time I would come home from school, I would ask my dad when are we going fishing and he would
always say boy there more than just fishing but being a young boy fishing was the only thing I would
want to do. The older I got, the worse I got about fishing, I would always want the new rod or gear
that just came. I have been to fishing shows and watch fishing on the TV and I always wanted to be
just like the man I show be able to catch the big trophy winners.
Every time I walk into Walmart, it didn t matter what I was there in the first place that I would have to
go is the fishing area. I would walk out with what I really was there for than some new gear that I need
to fix my old gear or to replace and to double up on. The most that I am at my worse is when I walk
into a Bass Pro Shop, due to the fact I don t have any of the stories near me, I would go crazy. I would
look like a chicken that just got his head cut off running around see everything that I can. It was like I
died and went to heaven, the last time that I got a new hat and some bait. I would spend hours just
looking and wondering how good this will work for me may it be a new rod, reel, hooks, bait, or even
line. It doesn t matter if I have something similar to what I was looking at but for me, I always thought

  • 2. Patrick Henry Allusion Lawyer and Politician, Patrick Henry, in his speech, Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death (03/23/1775), argues why they shouldn t sit there and wait and not do anything when war is coming. As well as not letting it be, if they don t fight they ll become slaves of the British and he doesn t want that for the people wanting them to fight for their freedom. He supports his claim by first going to the president and letting him know that for their country they should take in consideration the war that s coming, his personal belief is not to lay back, there is no backup with no time to waste, while questioning freedom and slavery, him being a natural man he believes that illusion of hope is false, finally not being dishonest with themselves and fight. Henry s purpose is to get themselves to stand up for their freedom and not to become slaves, and not be under British ruling and keep what they have. He implies an aggravated and raffle tone for the Second Virginia Convention, and the President. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Interview With A Panino Restaurant Panino Restaurant The entrepreneur that I interviewed was Lydia Patterson. In 1989, Lydia and her husband, Lou, decided to start planning to open up a new Italian restaurant in Virginia. The restaurant industry, especially in the Washington DC area is very competitive. It is highly competitive with respect to price, value and promotions, service, location, and food quality. There are a substantial number of restaurant operations that compete for customer traffic, some of which have significantly greater resources to aggressively market to consumers, which could result in losing market share. Consumers are highly focused on value and if other restaurants are able to promote and deliver a higher degree of value, guest traffic levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The actual building of the inside of the restaurant took place first. This took approximately two months to complete and in the meantime, Lydia and Lou were planning menus, marketing plans, and thinking about how they wanted to conduct their business. This included the types of benefits they wanted to give their employees, how many people they wanted to hire, how they wanted to run their business, what foods would be served, and which types of people they wanted to appeal to. In March 1991, the building of the restaurant was completed and Lydia finally was able to design the inside of the restaurant and decorate according to her personal taste. She gave the restaurant a simple, Italian style feel that would appeal to the area that the restaurant was located in. Paintings by her brother in law would hang on every wall along with having hand painted antiques throughout the restaurant. The set up of the restaurant took about a month. In late April of 1991, Lydia and Lou decided to take the planning process to the next level and decided to start executing some of their plans. This is when some of the setbacks started to take place. When starting this new business venture, technology wasn t popular yet and they needed to market their new restaurant to the clients that they wanted to appeal to. They weren t to see how to go about doing this. Their menu would be moderately priced and there were many surrounding businesses close by. They thought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Oodgeroo To our Fathers Fathers, the pain, the sorrow; To our Children s Children, the glad tomorrow. . Hi, I m Zane Goodridge and today I ll be analysing the song of hope and revealing the messages within it . This poem, by Aboriginal poet Kath Walker, also known as Oodgeroo, is about how she believes that things are becoming better, and for this trend to continue, Aborigines and Australians alike need to trust each other. In order for you to understand the rest of the speech, I will now present a reading of the poem. Look up, my people; the Dawn is breaking; The world is waking; To a bright new day. When none defame us; Nor restriction tame us; Nor colour shame us; nor sneer dismay. Now brood no more; on the years behind you; the hope assigned you; shall the past ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After continued reading of the poem it became clear that Kath had a much more powerful message hidden behind the explicit meaning of the poem. She feels that the past is yet to be properly amended and that it needs to be before the Aborigines and European descendants can move forward. This is reflected especially in Stanzas 2 and 3. In stanza 2 the lines Now brood no more and The hope assigned you shows that there was clearly some kind of destiny that was less then looked forward to in each aboriginal individual. In Stanza 3, there is a much larger presence of this message. With lines like So long we waited; bound and frustrated; till hate be hated; and caste deposed. Provides an insight into Aboriginies having to wait in pain until something was done about their lives and opportunities. Though it seems that Oodgeroo does believe that things are getting better, she acknowledges that the aboriginal people were not always the best treated and that she believes that things should be formally amended before things can become better for all, regardless of ... • 5. Beatles Thesis The Beatles Music has impacted human lives all throughout history, whether it has been a simple thing like someone playing their guitar in the streets or an overcrowded performance by an artist. The reason behind this is because music has been able to express emotions that many can t express into words and it has grown so much throughout the years that it has exponentially become a statement for those trying to impact others. A great example of a group, who was able to influence not only lives, but some say even generations, is The Beatles. Before learning about their fame and success it is important to understand where it all began and how it all unfolded for these four artists. According to author Womack Kenneth, who wrote The Beatles Encyclopedia: Everything Fab Four Ringo Starr was born on July 7 1940, on October 9 John Winston Lennon is born, June 8 1942 James Paul McCartney is born and lastly in February 25 1943 George Harrison is born and all four were born in Liverpool, England . Before becoming The Beatles they were once known as The Quarry Men (Womack). Their encounter occurred on the year 1957 McCarthy first met Lennon and decided to join the Quarry Men after performing at the Woolton Parish Church Garden Fête in Liverpool and a year after that Harrison joins the Quarry Men (Womack). • 7. Gender Conformity And Expectations Through Time Orlando by Virginia Woolf addresses the issues of gender conformity and expectations through time; in this case, three centuries during the Elizabethan Era in the area around Europe. The main character, Orlando, experiences a gender change during his lifetime to become a female and that drastically modifies the way that she lives. Through the motif of Orlando s gender change and androgyny, Orlando experiences both life and love, which is not common for men and women regardless of the time period. Orlando began life as a young boy, living in a house in the country before being taken into the city by the Queen. As a child, he encourages himself to chase masculine pursuits in life, as his father and other ancestors do before him. Despite the encouragement of masculine activities as his family is known for, during his isolation, he decides instead as an adult that they and their deeds [are] dust and ashes (Woolf, 81) and that he would like to live life the way that he wants to, as a poet searching for love. Even as a man, Orlando has the power and authority to live his life how he wishes, but he always craves love. A poet at heart, Orlando has many loves, such as the girls in his sonnets, and he always writes about them in the way he finds best. He claims Love [has] meant nothing to him but sawdust and cinders (40) and he cannot find the love he is always searching for. Essay on Pathophysiology of Meningitis and Encephalitis Pathophysiology of Meningitis and Encephalitis Meningitis and encephalitis are two similar infections of the central nervous system that often lead to fatality of the host organism. Both diseases occur when pathogens enter the blood stream and gain access into the central nervous system. Stimulating inflammation within the cranial cavity, the pathogens continue to multiply and take harmful effects on the host. Inflammation, the body s response to infection, ultimately causes all of the symptoms and complications of meningitis and encephalitis. For example, S. pneumoniae (pneumococcal meningitis) has a mortality rate of 40% of infected patients, while N. meningitidis (meningococcal meningitis) kills only 5 10% of its victims (Phillips, par. 14). Although the bacteria commonly live 1 harmlessly in the mouth and throat, they occasionally overcome the body s immune system, thus infecting the host. One can acquire meningitis through direct contact with the bacteria during trauma or neurosurgery. The infectious bacteria enter into the body through the nasopharynx. Numerous bacteria contain pili, structures on the surface of the cell wall, that adhere to receptors on mucosal cells within the nasopharynx. In the nasopharynx, the bacteria colonize and invade nearby tissues (Phillips, par. 3). Next, they enter the central nervous system by way of the blood stream or respiratory tract. Because the bacteria have a capsule composed of polysaccharides, they easily evade phagocytosis by the neutrophils and the complement system (a component of the immune response). The bacteria then travel to the meninges, the membranes that encase the brain. The circulatory system and the central nervous system are separated by three layers called the blood brain barrier: the dura mater (the outermost layer), the arachnoid (the middle layer made of connective tissue), and the pia mater (which comes in contact with the meninges). Although the meninges are difficult to infect due to an effective blood brain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Stereotypes Of Women In Sports Though being athletic and masculine have been a man s physical description, women have fought to prove those gender stereotypes wrong. Women have been defeating the odds of athleticism and masculinity that men realized, but wanted to hide and not appreciate their work. Through time men and women have made an effort to come together to bring attention to the downgrading of women in sports to earn acknowledgement and respect. With this, history has described men and women s sports as not equal but as history continues, women defeat the odds yet again. Women participating in athletic activities and sports date back millennia. Stories of women playing ball dates back to 800 BC in Homer s works of The Iliad. Until the 1870 s, women never had the luxury of sports classified for women specifically. Multitasking was a high concern. People thought that each person had a set amount of energy and multitasking would deplete this energy rapidly that could cause harm to that individual. Women were highly encouraged to limit their activity so they would not fatigue their selves so quickly to avoid harm to their body. Doctors of this time believed this over exertion could damage reproductive organs, decrease fertility rate, excessive stimulate emotions to the extent of a nervous breakdown, and even bizarre as decrease in a woman s sexual inhibition if she excessively indulged in sports (Cahn par. 4). One reason was that Santa Anna, a general and president of Mexico during 1836, signed the Treaty of Velasco, which stated that Texas was a free and independent nation, and is not a part of Mexico. When Santa Anna returned to the capital of Mexico, he completely disregarded this treaty and claimed to have never signed it with General Houston, even though the Texans had the papers, and claimed that Texas was in rebellion, so he got his army ready and went after the Texans. The truth is family farms do not produce enough goods to support the demand in the United States. People can t see that we need corporate farming and it is a good thing for the national government to support any type of farming. In my mind, Cristison must not want to support farming at all because he rejects the 2002 Farm Bill. Cristison states, Representative Larry Combest, the House Agriculture Committee chairman, has said publicly that the winners of this Farm Bill are American farmers. I strongly disagree. The winners of this farm bill are corporate agribusiness (Christison). This bill was going to deliver income to farms through the taxpayer. This would make up for losses that ANY farmer may take. Why would Cristison be against this if he is for farming? Family farms are getting the money as well. This bill is very fair; if you have a larger farm you will receive more money. That is how it should work, much like taxes in a sense that you pay based on the size of your income. She has awoken from a terrible dream after falling asleep in the forest with Lysander. They were lost and tired and decided to rest. Lysander wanted to sleep beside her but she refused since they are not yet married and while they slept Puck applied a love potion on Lysander s eyes thinking he was Demetrius. Lysander wakes and is repulsed by the sight of Hermia and never wants to see her again because he is now in love with Helena. Hermia awakes from her terrible dream and retells it thinking that Lysander is nearby listening. Then she realizes that he is not there and she does not see him anywhere. Hermia expresses the sentiment that she will find Lysander or she will surely die. She stated, Help me, Lysander, help me! do thy best To pluck this crawling serpent from my breast! Ay me, for pity! what a dream was here! Lysander, look how I do quake with fear: Methought a serpent eat my heart away, And you sat smiling at his cruel pray. Lysander! what, removed? Lysander! lord! The primary argument used to justify cultural relativism is the cultural differences argument, which claims different cultures have different moral practices and beliefs, therefore, there is no objective truth in morality (Newton). After reading James Rachels The Challenge of Cultural Relativism, I find his criticisms to be persuasive because the argument made for Cultural Relativism is not sound from a logical point of view. You cannot draw a conclusion about what is factual based on what people believe is factual. Rachels also points out that even though cultures do in fact disagree about moral values, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In our country, someone who likes to be helpful is considered a model citizen, whereas in his own country he would be considered abnormal (Benedict p.2). Benedict used this example.to argue that like behavior, morality is culturally determined and that what can be morally right for one society can be considered morally wrong for another (Newton, Evaluating Cultural Relativism). Where Ruth Benedict believed morality is relative, James Rachels disagrees. This is where I would have to agree with James Rachels criticisms regarding the Cultural Difference Argument. The premise argues that different cultures have different moral codes. The conclusion argues that there is no objective truth in morality and right and wrong are only matters of opinion, and opinions vary from culture to culture. Cultural relativists argue from facts about different cultural outlooks to the conclusion about the status of morality. Rachels uses the shape of the earth as an example. In some societies, people believe the Earth is flat. In others, people believe it is spherical. If using the Cultural Difference Argument, our premise would be that societies disagree about the shape of the earth. We would then conclude there is no fact of the matter about the shape of the earth (Rachels p.20 21). This is not a logical argument because belief does not instantly imply truth. Essay about Student-Centered Learning Student Centered Learning missing works cited Definition(s) There are several ways that student centered learning can be described, and they all lead back to the same basic idea, the student. First, student centered learning can be defined as a discipline that involves the interaction of a team of students that experience creative learning to be used in the real world (Thornburg, 1995). Thornburg (1995) also mention that students are essential to the classroom, just like a team member is essential to a game. He says that teachers are part of the definition of student centered learning, but they are not the main attraction. There were some students who were taught using the Learning Cycle, and some students were taught using the textbook approach. To see which method produced a greater understanding of sound the students were randomly selected, and an interview method was used in both groups to see what the students previously knew about sound. Then, in the instruction part of the procedure an instructor was used in both methods. In the Learning Cycle approach there were three phases: exploration, concept introduction and concept application . During these three phases the students worked together in groups while discussing their ideas and using manipulatives to act out the concepts. Also, the teacher would act as a facilitator, while the students discussed their ideas, and created more ideas and situations to figure out. During the lessons, the students were in active control and they could lead the lesson with their ideas and conclusions. The students were very excited to work together and the groups encouraged some of the students to share their ideas more willingly (Barman, Barman 1996). Dinan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is science behind everything, including shopping, there are reasons why stores are arranged a certain way it is not just because it looks pretty , but how do store managers know where to place certain items in certain places? And does it improve sales? Malcolm Gladwell wrote The Science of Shopping in which he reveals that the reason why stores are organized a specific way is because they hire people such as Paco Underhill. According to Gladwell he is a retail anthropologist and an urban geographer which means he studies the shopping behavior. When Underhill is hired he sets up cameras all around the store and after a few days of filming people as they shop and studying their every move. He then sells this information to the stores so they can use it to improve their business. Should it be allowed for people like Underhill to observe customers as they shop? People could debate on this topic saying that customers need privacy, but what Underhill does is ethical, clients should be watched in stores even if it is without their knowledge because it would help both consumers and businesses. Being able to observe people s behavior in stores and seeing what they are attracted to would help the store increase sales by putting those items at a reachable place for them to grab. It would also benefit consumers because costumer service would improve. Lastly, being able to study shopping behavior would be easy for stores to see patterns and trends. If the store is aware of ... Although scholars have provided several accounts of the importance of privacy, it still remains unclear how individuals view and value it. For the purposes of this essay, privacy is broadly defined as the controlled access to personal information or ideas. In this paper, I will examine Richard Posner s article Privacy, Surveillance, and Law and Neil Richards s paper The Dangers of Surveillance. Although both Posner and Richards begin with the same assumption that people fear public scrutiny, their different interpretations of this human nature lead to different conclusions. While Richards relates privacy to our fundamental rights so that he considers any surveillance dangerous, Posner s belief that we value privacy as a possession that promotes other ends is more justified because it allows individuals to weigh the costs and benefits of surveillance. People Fear Public Scrutiny 2 Fundamentally, both Posner s and Richards s arguments stem from the assumption that people fear public scrutiny. Once he is taught of electricity, the cause of this force, the knowledge [throws] greatly into the shade Cornelius Agrippa...the lord of [Frankenstein s] imagination , and shortly after this Victor gives up [his] former occupations; set[s] down natural history...as a deformed and abortive creation . In other words, he seems to lose interest in science as soon as he is shown that the way to understand natural phenomena is not through secrets or magic powers; that the way to understanding cannot be reached through exertion of force or power. It seems that Frankenstein is deeply afraid of what he cannot control, and not just nature: contemplating the Creature (a being requiring love and mutuality) he muses a new species would bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to me. • 42. Change Of Software Development Process There was a need to change our software development process to something that was more transparent, collaborative and iterative. There were few options available that suited our needs however it wasn t an over night change in methodology. We tried few options like Feature Driven Development methodology and also for Rapid Development methodology for some user experience focused applications. However the neither of those were successfully able to resolve effective work partition and collaboration between teams physically located in different geographical locations. This led us to try some other agile methodologies like Scrum and Extreme Programming. We were successful in resolving a lot of management issues with scrum. Extreme programming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under Extreme programming developers would pair and only the code that is deemed best by both the developers gets submitted to central repository. We also experimented with Test Driven Development in Extreme programming methodology and found it very useful. Solution Implementation Since past two years we have been using, under the umbrella of Agile, Scrum with Extreme programming for new application layer teams and Kanban for service layer as well as production support teams. The implementation started with lot of training for Scrum. Not only we hired trained scrum masters, we sponsored a lot of technical as well as business leaders to take Scrum Master or Product Owner certification. There was task force setup to form move Agile Transformation initiative with well defined goals. It also took lot of real estate restructuring within our office space. Since all the technical teams were transformed into scrum there was not need to have office cubicles. Hence the whole floor was transformed into multi group tables where each team sat on one table. All the developers were also provided laptops to be flexible in moving across teams if there was need to stand up or tear down a team. Training was the key aspect to make Agile transformation successful. There was multiple mandatory training sessions setup for all employees. Also each teams were assigned an agile coach to ensure the concepts were clear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Dead Armadillos Essay A brave, tough, and a self confident woman, that is who Gail White is. White claims to be a critic of the world around her and she expresses this through her poetry. In her poem Dead Armadillos, she points out the way the society looks at animals and how they give importance to them. Gail White was able to bring attention to the status of animals in the wild by using armadillos as a representation of them, and telling how the majority of the society gives little importance to them by using similes and giving the poem a sarcastic tone. White used similes to compare armadillos to a blind knight (l.9), like medieval knights, armadillos are covered in armor, a soft shell that surrounds their body as their defense mechanism, but even ... In her poem she states When we re down to the last half dozen, we ll see them with the eyes of God. (l.18 19). When the numbers of armadillos are very low, society will start to care for them like other animals which are included in the endangered species list. Society will act like they cherish the lives of the armadillos, much like we cherish the lives of our children, or another human being, society will start to see them with the eyes of God, like how God gives importance to us as his children and how God cares for us. White also used a sarcastic tone to her poem. The sarcastic tone of the poem adds power to the message she is trying to convey to the reader. It brings attention to the situations of not just armadillos but every wild animal that are being taken for granted. In lines 10 to 12 No one cares. There is no Save the Armadillo Society. Unlike other animals that are included in the endangered species list, there are no groups or people who are trying to save the armadillos, because they are not endangered yet, there are still plenty of them in the wild, their lives are not as precious as a polar bear, or a siberian tiger. In conclusion, White is trying to tell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Sacrament Of Confirmation Arose The sacrament of confirmation arose from practical changes in the early Christian church that created the basis for this ritual from which it developed into the modern rite that symbolizes the conscious decision to join the Roman Catholic Church. Confirmation was originally a part of the sacrament of baptism in early Christianity. According to Heugel (2005) what is now referred to as confirmation was ...a final anointing, handlaying, and prayer commonly given neophytes as they came out of the baptismal waters... (p. 1). In the Fifth Century, in large part due to the practice of baptizing Catholic children at birth becoming commonplace, Pope Innocent I decreed that this part of the baptismal ceremony can only be performed by a Bishop, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the development of the concept of limbo gave some respite, this potential fate led to Christian families to baptize their children earlier and earlier until it became common practice to baptize infants as soon as possible. The second change was that the Christian church, now more fully organized and developed, did not allow for just any Christian or priest to perform a baptism, rather it had to be administered by a Bishop. From a practical standpoint this meant that bishops had to travel further and more often in order to initiate the new members. There were simply not enough Bishops and too much ground to cover, especially since previously baptism was common only for adults, who would travel to their Bishop on Easter Sunday every year to receive the sacrament of Baptism. Pope Innocent I addressed this problem by instituting that a Bishop must perform the final anointing and handlaying of a Baptism. This meant that the rest of the ritual could be administered by a priest, which allowed baptism to be more easily accessible for everyone. The Christian could then complete the initiation ritual later on in life when they encountered a Bishop. This separation of the ritual however, was the beginning of the sacrament of confirmation. Poetry writing goes back to ancient times and is still used today. Famous poets include Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, Edgar Allen Poe and many others. There was one poet, in particular, that was more modern and different than the rest, Audre Lorde. She was known as a feminist, civil rights activist, mother, and a visionary. Audre Lorde was creative in a way that she used her poetry to support and spread awareness for many social movements in America. Her poetry often expressed her thoughts and feelings on major issues such as Civil Rights, Gay rights, Women s rights and racial equality. Mrs. Lorde uses unique literacy languages, such as similes, symbols, imagery, and tone throughout her works entitled A Litany for Survival and Outline ; to voice her struggles through her childhood and life. Audrey Geraldine Lorde was born on February 18, 1934, in Harlem, New York. Harlem was a place that represented negro success and was a home to many writers (Veaux 5). She was legally blind and labeled as a special child which made her two older sisters despise her and parents tolerate her. Growing up in a Caribbean household was very strict. She was expected to act appropriately, continue her educational career, and pursue strong work ethics (Veaux 18), if not she was punished by scolding or beatings.
